Sebek and Romance: Additional Thoughts (or part two) after reading his Halloween SSR vignette and finishing the event but mostly about the vignette

- Part one - Sebek and Romance - My translation of the vignette

In my previous post, I speculated about two major influences on Sebek's understanding of romance and romantic feelings - his parents and books and I was right :)

So, what else can we conclude from this vignette?

1. Verbal expression matters

The most important takeaway is that verbal expression of feelings and thoughts is everything to Sebek. We can definitely say his primary love language is words. For him, verbalizing - both the pleasant and the less pleasant - is a must. Just. Say. It.

However, words (not only as a love language) can be tricky, as it's all about what words you choose. With physical touch, for example, it's simpler. But with words, you need to choose carefully when delivering your message. I think we've all experienced at least one uncomfortable situation caused by a poor choice of words.

And where does Sebek learn this art of wording? Books, of course.

That's why I'm amazed at how well-written Sebek's character is. His values and views align perfectly with his hobby. His emphasis on words and verbal expression, along with his being well-read, suggests he's on his way to mastering communication that aligns with his values.

2. His observant nature

The part where Sebek mentions noticing Sally's feelings for Jack actually flipped my view of him a liiittle bit. We often assume he'd be oblivious to feelings or accuse someone (like the Prefect) of “bewitching” him. But here, we see the opposite: he notices the romantic tension between Sally and Jack right away and doesn't get weird about it. So, we can assume, when the same situation happens to him, he'd likely be calm, polite, and eager to reach a logical conclusion as fast as possible, depending on how interested he is in the person.

In general, Sebek is self-aware, attentive, and genuinely smart - not just “book smart" (a little too trusting of Lilia's advice, yes, but well...) And since he knows quite a lot about romance, even if he's not “chill" about it, he would still approach his romantic feelings with total adequacy.

3. Mention of his parents

To my surprise, when Sebek mentioned his parents' story, he didn't address his father in a condescending way. He didn't even call him “human” once. This says a lot to me. Yes, Baul's influence was strong, but his mother's love and energy were stronger. He still loves his father - in his own way. His only dissatisfaction with his father is that he's human, but that's a topic for another post. They still an exemplary love couple to him and that's wonderful.

4. His admiration and loyalty to Malleus

The part where Sebek talks about his determination to stay by Malleus's side was both heartwarming and inspiring. I still hope we'll get more insight into why he's so dedicated to this idea (I have some theories, but maybe for another post).

What we see here only strengthens Sebek's character as loyal and determined. And, once again, he emphasizes how he expressed (verbally) his desire to serve. Words and verbal expression are deeply important to him. Naturally, since loyalty and devotion are core parts of his character, once the target of that devotion has earned it, one can expect similar adoration and loyalty toward his partner as well.

In conclusion?

Sebek is amazing, and he should be reminded of it every day. With words. Out loud. Just. Say. It.

Bonus point: I loooove that he has a playful side and can be so cheeky - doing it totally on purpose lol. That scene where he adds to Jack's jealousy? Sebek, you menace :)

OG SSR R2: the room itself is aight, but it is unfortunately a near copy of the story H scene. Ahhh, death by comparison. This one gets shrugged to the side simply because i like more things about its twin.

Crimson Phantom R2: yaku is not having a good time, y'all. he is not in the right headspace and his evident suffering is a boner killer. if i were ranking based on character development and lore, this one would rank higher (thank you, surprise tragic stories about yakumo's childhood), but. he's kinda fighting a losing battle against his self-hatred so can eiden give him that hug pls

OH!! and no lie-- his voice unsettled me here. i know he's playing big into the roleplay thing but that Uncharacteristic Vocal Behaviour mixed with Big Sad spiralling is uhhhhhhh . so where's that Eiden hug??????

OG SSR R5: i unlocked this waaay late so it had to (unfairly) compete against newer rooms that I unlocked before it.

it's similar to when I played FF/X-2 before trying FF/VII (original PS version)?! i wish i had played the older one when it first released. that way, i would have appreciated it properly? BUT!! because i played out of order, i was spoilt with modern graphics and improvements that made the old game impossible to finish. I was too warped by then...

and that's what happened with this room. although i liked the concept + their dialogue, the art was too off-model for me to fully engage. i kept fixating on the anatomy or eiden's face. sigh... it was one of the earliest rooms so of course the art's improved since then!! but i was unlucky and watched it too late :( i could not enjoy its full splendour :(

"Whatever I feel like doing."

Leona: Who woulda thought there'd come a time I'd be driving this many people in my car.

Vil: Are we distracting you? If that's the case, you should have just arranged for another car.

Leona: Well, we can't do that, now can we?

Leona: Regardless of how I act, I'm still a prince here.

Leona: If I said I wanted to head out of the capital by car, it'd summon one of the royal family's chauffeurs.

Leona: But, it'd be terrible of us to have them drive every which way when they're already so busy, don'tcha think?

Leona: That's why there's no other choice but for me to take the wheel.

Leona: How thoughtful of me? Oh, I know. But I'm used to driving, so no need to rush to compliment me further.

Vil: You went and got the car so you would be able to leave Kifaji-san behind. And you still said all that with a straight face.

Vil: Well, I'm willing to believe only where you say you're "used to it," though.

Leona: Hey, hey, don't pick and choose just one thing I said like that.

Vil: I mean, you're so good at driving, yet no one knows you can, right?

Vil: Sage's Island is rather small. If you were to drive around the island, someone is bound to see you.

Vil: Similar to how we sometimes see Crewel-sensei driving around in his bright red classic car.

Vil: So you basically cultivated your driving skills here in Sunset Savanna, yes?

Leona: Who knows. I'll leave it to your imagination.

Vil: Well, despite your usual laziness, you leapt at the chance to drive. There's no way you don't like driving.

Vil: And yet, the fact that you never did on Sage's Island could only mean…

Vil: You hid it because you felt it would be troublesome if anyone knew. You really are such an incorrigible man, hiding what skills you have, like this.

Leona: I think you got the wrong idea, there… I'm not hiding it, or whatever.

Leona: There was a car on Sage's Island that I could just take whenever, sure, I'd totally do something like take my precious club members into the town, no prob.

Vil: Again, just speaking with out feeling, as always. Oh, also…

Leona: Just drop it, Vil. Also, hey, Kalim, Lilia and [Yuu], be prepared to get out soon.

Leona: We're almost there.

Vil: True. There were a few moments of frustration, but… Now that it's over, I suppose the experience as a whole wasn't too terrible.

Lilia: Those royal guards we faced in the last round were splendid as well. I could really feel the strength of this country's convictions.

Lilia: Oh? There's a huge puddle ahead of us.

Vil: It doesn't seem like we'll be able to avoid it. Shouldn't you drop your speed a little?

Alpine Joins The Howling Commandos

Peggy knew as soon as she met the other Howling Cammandos that they would be a rag-tag group of troublemakers for the SSR

as soon as she saw them in that bar

drunk off their asses and singing like the drunkards they are, not a care in the world

she just knew

so when Steve put together this team and she had gone for her own little investigation and seen there was no medic on said team

she realises that although Steve is courageous, brave, loyal and trust worthy

a good man

he was also a bloody idiot

so, she another little investigation and found a medic for the team

Steve can heal as fast as he likes but he still has teammates with regular healing abilities that may require medical assistance

now Peggy des have a little crush on America's Golden Boy (fucking understatement of the decade) so she's a little particular about the medic she chooses

she wants them to be well read, keeping up to date with all medical advancements that had been happening throughout the war

she wanted them to be quick on their feet and not scared to improvise - lord knows they'd have to do a lot of that with the new weaponry being built by HYDRA

so when she hears of Doctor Andrew Doe, a Korean-American doctor making a name for himself in the front lines by experimenting and sharing his findings with the allied forces

she knows that this is the guy

imagine her surprise when she gets to the bases records show he's supposed to be in to find him gone

she'd managed to get a hold of someone, a young man looking as if he were in a rush but not wanting to be rude to the pretty lady who had ordered him to stand at attention

"Where is Dr Doe, I need to speak with him."

"I'm sorry ma'am, he died a few days ago."

"His daughter has taken over his research and then some. Names Miss Alpine Doe. She's young looking, but the document's are legitimate."

so now her option is a young looking girl who needed her documents checking

"How young?"

"Certificate says 18 years ma'am."

"Well then. Do you know where she is?"

"Yes ma'am, she was called out to one of the nearby bunkers, they got wound-"

a buzzing interrupts them, the unmistakable sounds of a siren and a vehicle honking as men surrounding them rush to the open area

the truck skids to a halt and the back doors burst open, a young girl climbing out and beginning to pull a stretcher out

"Get me plasma, bandages and morphine. I need as much as we can spare, poor bastard got shot to bits, lucky to be alive right now. Let's get him stable and home to his ma."

surprise was not the word Peggy would use to describe her current emotions, watching this definitely not 18 year old girl work and order the much older men surrounding her

and they listened

"Miss Doe has worked on all of us, ma'am"

it's the young man she'd caught before hand, she turns to look at him and he's got an awestruck look on his face

"Most of us came here wounded, Miss Doe saved most of our lives or at least stabilised us so we could get home to a hospital. She's a fine medic, if that's what you're looking for."

Peggy watches as Alpine and a few of the other men begin to walk back into one of the many tents which held beds for the injured

she can't get far though, before another two trucks come blaring through

perhaps this would be the perfect test

Peggy watches as Alpine assesses her situation, getting a nearby medic to hold the wound she had been previously, running to the first of the trucks

"GSW, left shoulder, straight through."

she turns to the second

"It's bad miss, explosive went off nearby, leg's basically gone."

tutting, she turns back to the tent just as two teams of three come racing out

"Philips, take the first one. Multiple GSW's, three exits. Find the shrapnel, get it out, get him stitched. Taylor, take the second. You,"

She turns to Peggy, a hard look in her eyes

"Get lost or start helping."

the fucking audacity of this kid, does she know who she's talking to

is Peggy equip to be a medic?

no, but does that mean she'll sit and let men die?

definitely not, so, she shucks off her coat, rolls up her sleeve and let's alpine guide her into help

and boy is that girl fucking bossy

"Press harder Carter, jesus do you want this man to bleed out?"

"The man's just lost his leg, give him the bloody painkiller!"

"They should make basic first aid a mandatory skill to learn when you become an agent. Oh wait, they do."

"Carter you're not wrapping a Christmas present for gods sake, faster!"

by the end of it, Peggy is pretty sure she's picked the right person for the job

if anyone was going to be giving medical aid to a group of sarcastic, stupidly cheery and sometimes grumpy men then it should be at least someone who could hold their own

so when all is said and done, they'd managed to get the poor man stabilised and Alpine was organising his immediate transfer out of the unit and to an actual hospital, Peggy approaches

"Miss Doe, I have a proposition for you."

"Unless it's to do with shipments of morphine, plasma, bandages, gauzes, tunicates and all the other supplies I've been badgering everyone about, I'm not intrested."

"I'd like to offer you a position in the Howling Commandos. You'll be working with Captain America, Steve Rogers and his team."

Alpine blinks at her

staring

not moving

before she gestures to the space around her

"I've got men dying as we speak and you want me to drop them just to work with a lab rat and his crew?"

"They need a medic, you are the only one qualified enough. I didn't know about your father, I'm sorry for your loss, but please do not let this be a wasted journey."

Alpine's eye twitches

"You helped save a man and it's a wasted journey?"

Peggy sighs and shakes her head, clearly she's approaching this girl wrong

"I'm simply saying- this isn't the opportunity to skip out on, especially for someone like you."

Alpine knows she's speaking of not only her age but also gender

this was the 1940s after all, not exactly the golden era for women in the military

or medical services

"You're incredibly talented. Captain Rogers and his team need someone like that to keep up with their absolute stupidity."

Alpine laughs, signing the papers she'd been working on and handing them to one of her colleagues before looking at Peggy and offering a smile

"I'm sorry Agent Carter. I made a promise to my eldest brother. No working with Captain America. After what happened with the 107th and the other forces, he's been a bit protective - as much as he can from the front lines. I'm afraid I can't go against my promise to him."

Peggy nods but takes a slip of paper and writes the details she'd need to contact her and hands it to her

"Please, if you change your mind before the war is done, don't hesitate to contact this number."

Alpine nods and the two separate, Alpine returning to her work in the bloodied clothing she'd arrived in and Peggy feeling like she needed a bath after helping remove a man's leg and stitch it up again

it's weeks later when Alpine contacts the number, she'd refused to give any details to the receptionist who picked up but instead managed to organise a way to their base in London

to say Peggy was shocked was an understatement

The Howling Commandos had all come into the meeting room for their first debriefing after destroying the first HYDRA base on Steve's list

and the need for a medic had never been more obvious

Dum Dum had a large gash on his arm and had refused to seek medical assistance, instead stating that it was 'just a graze, it'll heal over night'

absolute bullshit

even Bucky had told him to get help but the man refused, Steve had suggested getting it checked out before the briefing, just to get Peggy off their back (to ease her concerns) and again Dum Dum had refused

imagine the absolute rage on Peggy's face

honestly, these men were the reason's she'd found a grey hair that morning she was sure of it

not that she'd ever mention anything to anyone

She was about to order the man to seek help when the door to the briefing room opened to reveal a worn out Alpine

covered in less blood than when Peggy had left her, eyes darkened with loss and large bags settling in her undereye

her hands were dirty, holding tightly onto two letters, and she looked frailer

"Sorry for the interruption Agent Carter, but she said she had an appointment and insisted-"

"It's quite alright. Miss Doe is a friend."

as she moves closer to the girl, the rest of the men surrounding them take the opportunity to study her

and bucky is in shock

what the hell is a child doing in their briefing room?

seriously, she was what 16? (15 - but he didn't need to know that)

she's there, blood splattered on her sleeves, dirt in her nails and her hair thrown up in a ratty bun

she looked like she came straight from the front lines

but she should have been at home

with her parents

why the hell, was she here?

"I'd like to take you up on your offer, Agent Carter."

Jesus even her fucking voice was a tell-tale sound that she was underaged

and Peggy had made her an offer?

for what?

"I take it your brother changed his mind?"

ah so she had a guardian at least

"My brother died, ma'am."

"Miss Doe.... I'm sorry."

there's a shared moment of silence for the loss before Alpine is looking up and trying to smile at her

"So, if your offer still stands, I'd like to take it."

Alpine spies Dum Dum's arm and thanks god that she carries a satchel of supplies with her everywhere

she'd sold rations for them and was sure she got some odd looks off of people for it but she didn't care

better safe than sorry

Peggy gives her arm a gentle touch before turning to address the men who had been staring at her, a pissed off Bucky included

"Gentlemen, this is Alpine Doe. A little younger then you're all used to-" bucky scoffs, Steve elbows him "-but a great medic nonetheless! She'll be joining you, no arguments."

her words are final and the rest of the team seem fine with it

they jump up, everyone greeting and shaking her hand

normally she'd love meeting people who weren't screaming in her face, but she can't bring herself to truly enjoy the moment, despite the pleasant smiles and pats on her shoulders

Steve offers his hand and she takes it, smiling at him

"Good to have you. We'll take good care you you, like you will us I'm sure."

Bucky is glaring at all of them

they're all idiots

he knew that but jesus

are they truly THIS stupid?

"Are we ignoring the fact that she's an actual child?"

he didn't realise he spoke

he thought he'd spoken to himself

but it came out

and it came out harsher than what he would have liked it

no stopping now, someone had to stand up for the kid

her brother obviously didn't want her here

"I'm 18, Sergeant Barnes."

"And I'm the King of England."

they stare at each other, glaring really

Bucky can see the tears building in Alpine's eyes

he didn't think he was pushing too much

but then again

SHE'S A CHILD

he doesn't push too hard after seeing the tears, actually takes a minute step to comfort her before she's turning her attention to where Dum Dum had sat, now tending to the gash on his arm

distracting herself from the overwhelming frustration building in her stomach

Bucky turns to Phillips

"You're signing off on a kid working with us? Going into HYDRA bases? With their weapons, what's the use of a medic?"

Phillips sighs and shakes his head, frustrated with the entire situation to be honest

"You're still using regular explosives, regular bullets. They ricochet, debris exists, you get a cold, she's there to keep you healthy and on your feet."

"Now, because she's a medic, she'll be a non-combatant member of the Howling Commandos, the only one."

Alpine goes to correct him, but he points an accusatory finger at her that shuts her up because it reminds her of her brother

"-that you've let become a medic in the army and now, you're putting her, unarmed, up against weaponry that quite literally vaporises whoever it hits?"

"She's done it before Sergeant, now one more outburst from you and I'll be forced to take disciplinary action!"

Steve elbows him again and he shuts up

he wants to fight for this girl but can't let Steve go out there alone

he hates the fact that this girl is clearly in over her head

and everyone is just letting her

it reminds him of the Steve he knew before the serum

the one who would stop at nothing to get into the war

the one who faced prison for lying on his enlistment papers

was he truly the only person who saw this all for what it was?

the leading of a lamb to slaughter for their own goddamn advantage

that much was shown when they moved out to their next base after the debrief

Alpine had avoided them all after patching up Dum Dum, whose arm had healed beautifully

she went straight home after the meeting and only saw them all again when they were meeting for the plane back abroad

even then, she kept to herself and refused to speak

Bucky would glance over occasionally from where they sat on the plane, watching her read and re-read the same two letters in her hands which she carried in her pockets when her hands were busy working

Steve had sat next to her, trying to coax her into a gentle conversation but she'd answered with little words and left not room for the conversation to continue

when she wasn't reading the letters or working on someone, she was writing in a little blue journal, with a black journal open and glancing between them both

she'd scribble in the black one occasionally but for the most part, the blue journal was the only one she wrote in

what she was doing Bucky didn't know

but it was clear it was important to her

occasionally the others would tease her, trying to get her to open up

but again, they were being blind to the truth about this girl

she was a child and she was grieving

he could see it in the way she's hold her breath when she read the letters

wiping away unshed tears and pulling at her hair

Bucky sighs, nodding to Steve and making him swap seats with him in the tight aircraft, causing everyone to glance up at them

he settles next to Alpine, nudging her when he sat and played it off like he hadn't noticed

if no one else was going to support her

then he'd have to do it himself

allen: i usually spent my birthdays with my maids and butlers, though sometimes my parents would wish me a happy birthday too. they didn't talk to me that much, they just left gifts for me and then i would unwrap them in front of our servants. i didn't care about my gifts, i already knew what they were, but everyone was so excited to see me open them..

allen: "look, young master, didn't you want a knife like this? it's so beautiful and sharp! just be careful with it, okay?"

allen: *laughs* if i'm being honest, seeing their reactions was more fun than getting gifts.

allen: so, thank you for trying to make me smile, hayden, but again, you don't have to lie to me.

allen: everyone forgetting about my birthday makes me sad, it makes me very sad, but.. again, i'm used to it.

allen: "wait, i just realized that even riley didn't wish me a happy birthday.. something is wrong here."

hayden: i genuinely thought that we have to study for another test! it was my mistake and i'm sorry, but why do you think that i did it to make everyone forget about allen?

Question of the week is still a WIP. I am currently trying to make a visual, but I want some questions prepped and I want a nice tag/title so people that don't want to see it can filter it easily, and that's where I am stuck a little.

I definitely don't mind any questions at any time really. I might get a little wordy again, so let's dive right into it so I can -hopefully- keep this from becoming an entire book again.

I had seen visuals of the game before (being a fan of Yana for Kuroshitsuji) on various social media. A friend had done a lil more research and said it was a game, but as of then, JP only. I think at that time, we both were assuming it was an otome game? When the NA version game out, I didn't know, since I wasn't really following updates anymore + it's not available where I live. Then @silenceofthecookies let me know it was out and she was playing by APK. I did not get it immediately, mostly because I *still* thought it was an otome game, and my interest in those had dwindled a whole lot. Downloaded it 2? weeks after release when I realized it was not an otome and have only missed 2? logins since, although most days I do little more than logging in and one or two rounds of lessons (unless there is an event / new story content). I am a little salty because none of my favorite characters are coming home with pulls ( ╥ω╥ ) Istg, if Fairy Gala Leona won't come home I am quitting the game.

Ehm, when it came to finding favorites, it was a bit of a blurr, having to go solely on *vibes* since I did not interact with the fandom yet. Purely visually speaking I felt mostly drawn to Idia, Leona and Azul right when I started the game? Idia is the one I picked for the first SR, hand in the mirror kinda thing.

When I started interacting with the fandom, and got more sense of the personalities, I liked a lot of characters more, with my current faves being Idia (still), Leona (still), Jamil, Kalim, Rook, Lilia and Jack? But there are no characters I really dislike, I just am more 'meh' about them and won't be pulling for their cards. I am a little salty about Azul cause I don't like his character a lot, but he decided to come home while I was pulling for the scarabia dorm cards. So now I have an SSR Azul dorm, which is arguably a very good and very desired card, but I just want... one of my faves. Just the one QwQ.

If I had known who I was gonna like at the time, I probably would've reset my first 10-pull (with the SSR guarantee) until I got dorm Leona, but at the time, I didn't know who was available, how the story was gonna go and who I was gonna like. So now I have SSR Ace, Azul and last week I finally got my pity pull from the standard showcase, only for it to be Deuce. Like i said, I will drag that dang lion by his tail for the fairy gala, as well as Kalim by his headband and Jamil by his ponytail. (・`ω´・) I am very very determined.

Finally, not that anyone asked for but if I had to choose a top 3 of fave characters, it'd probably be Leona, Jamil, Idia (mostly in that order, but it tends to shift depending on my mood). Irony is that they're all part of the three Disney movies I like most (that are featured in the game so far).

welcome to mayoi hell, anon! though i don't know what exactly you're struggling with, i'll try to explain the basics as best as i can under the cut!

so basically - it's a gacha game. that's what makes mayoi attractive; the gameplay in itself is quite boring. (or at least i think so?? 😭)

if you don't know what the point of a gacha game is; it's that there's banners you can pull on using ability stones (the rainbow coloured moons) and you can get SSR cards - if you're lucky. like these of Fyodor, which I desperately want and crave:

they're gorgeous. also, is it just me or is that last card of the Dead Apple trio hot? unholy thoughts....

you can also set your favourite cards as your mayoi homescreen in game and they have like little bits of dialogue and everything. 🥰🥰

so that's the purpose of the game: get ability stones to pull on your favourite characters' banners.

in the beginning, you start out with some R Atsushi card i believe, though i think there's one free pull for beginners with a guaranteed SSR, which will definitely help you move through the levels.

then, the actual gameplay is - well, you try and shoot those funny looking bubbles with your marble. the more you destroy, the better, i guess, since destroyed bubbles equal damage to enemies.

your cards have elements - the R Atsushi you get at the beginning is red for example, so if you destroy red bubbles, he'll deal damage to your enemies. so always destroy bubbles that are the colours of your characters.

OH, something i wrongly thought was that those bubbles with the skull on them hurt you. that's not true. destroy them when possible since they raise your enemies' attack.

your cards also have skills which you can active through tapping on their little icons, though only once in, like, 10 turns or more.

for the skills, i recommend choosing the ones that deal direct damage, or maybe healing skills for difficult stages for your team. if you've got that many cards to choose from, that is.

there's also two banners which use friend points and scene points - one for scene cards which you can choose to give a bonus to your team (ATK UP for example, etc.) and one for power up materials, which you use for, well, levelling your characters up so they get stronger.

the rarer, the better, of course - it's N < R < SR < SSR < UR

there's also those EX cards, though i'm not sure hat those really mean - i think they're just special cards that sometimes get banners? anyway;

you can't get URs through pulling for them on banners, you need to complete stages to level certain SSRs up to URs - those stages can be found under quest -> event -> daily -> awakening materials for character xy

they change daily! there's also stages to get more power up and evolution materials there.

there's more game modes like the “limited” one, where there's events that are limited to a certain amount of time. i recommend doing those since they give great rewards and aren't there forever compared to your normal story stages.

there's the floor conquered thing, which you need to have really many cards for, since you can only use them once - i think? i haven't done that one yet!

the academy and memories section basically are like events, though not time limited - play them for more ability stones, a new story in a high school AU and SR cards like Dazai in a school uniform.

i recommend reading or skipping the story since each chapter gives you one ability stone, btw.

there's login bonuses daily and also daily tasks, which include shining the marble for Ranpo, collecting rewards from the office, scouting with friends points and playing three ability stages (not events!).

for the office - you can level each section of it up using power up materials like crêpes etc, though i recommend focusing on Dazai and Kunikida since those are most useful.

i also strongly suggest to not spend ability stones on marble shining or the office. it's not worth it.

ability stones are really difficult to get in the late game, which is why i suggest saving them up for characters you really really want.

more on banners;

you need 25 ability stones for one pull, 250 for 11 pulls. sadly you're not guaranteed to get even a SR card at 11 pulls like with other gacha games 🤧🤧 you are, however, guaranteed a SSR after 100 pulls. this sadly doesn't mean you'll get a limited SSR, though.

there's a banner yearly on each character's birthday which focuses on, well, said character. increased chances for their cards.

i don't recommend pulling on the standard banner at all - only pull on the limited banners. you occasionally get scouting tickets which you can use as one pull on the standard banner. that's all you basically need there.

there's also limited scouting tickets for, well, the limited time banners.

when you use cards, their, uh, friendship level (?) rises and you get rewards. check those out and collect rewards by tapping on the card in the character menu and then on the arrow that'll slide their menu to, like, the right. if you've earned a reward, there'll be a little exclamation mark on the arrow. you'll find it, i'm sure, and if you don't, ask me again and i'll explain that more thoroughly!

if you sell characters, you get bungou points, which you can exchange items for in the shop. shop -> bungou pts shop

that's a good way to get scouting tickets, AP drinks to fill up your stamina bar and more. the shop refreshes, uh, monthly, i think?

you can also buy skill beads there, which you can level up a character's skill with. these are mainly useful for characters with a special image that you unlock at skill level three, like this Fyodor card below. when you first get the card, it'll look like the first picture, and once you reach skill level three, it'll look like the second one. you also unlock more rewards in the friendship thing i explained above, as well as new voice lines for the homescreen.

if you prefer the old looks of the card, you can switch back to it, don't worry.

[you can also level up the skill if you have the character more than once.]

when you play stages, you'll be asked to select someone else to join your team as friends or guests. don't worry, they won't get a notification or whatever. just choose someone. they only work as, like, a fourth team member for you with a card you don't own!

sending friend requests is something i recommend doing a lot, seems useful. if you get achievements, your friends can react to them using stickers - and the other way around. you get friend points for both! to do that, click the button on your homescreen next to the one where you collect your rewards.

to make your profile look appealing, go to menu -> my profile and set a personalised memo and your best/favourite card. that's the one other people will be able to "use", btw!

sharing a short dousy video edit i made.

i don't know why but i really like this and thought i'd share it on here too.

should i rant about what goes in my head while making this video? no. will i? yes.

basically the song is beginning middle end by leah nobel from to all the boys i've loved before part 3. this song is basically about two people falling in love from the early years of their lives. since lara jean and peter met when they were kids. but then started (fake) dating in high school and their adventure together started right then and there. anyway, watch the movies if you haven't already. this song fits lara jean and peter so well (i don't know if it was written specifically for them or not).

but daisy and sousa didnt meet when they were kids because of one obvious reason: when daisy was a kid, sousa's dead; and when sousa was a kid, daisy hadn't been born yet. they weren't supposed to meet. so their journey started off separately.

daisy's beginning in shield was rocky, to say the least. but she found a home there with coulson, fitzsimmons and may (i'll get to ward) in season 1. they bonded quite quickly, mainly daisy skye and coulson. i think it shifts when she got shot by ian quinn. everyone in the team, especially ward was terrified and angry at the situation. now. she had a relationship with miles early on in the season, which was broken off. but within the context of the song, her beginning was ward. he was her s.o. she was falling for him when she uncovered that he's hydra. add that trauma to the ones she already had prior to shield. no wonder she has trust issues.

her middle was her powers. even though the story started early in the series, it's still the middle. because she struggled with her powers throughout seasons 2 - 5. the middle would always be the bulk of it all. it's where everything happens. it's the crux of a character, of a person. it's where daisy became daisy. now, in the middle of her middle (pun very much intended), was lincoln. the first inhuman who helped her and understood her. i'm sure they've got their own problems and everything, but it doesn't change the fact that he was someone who knew what she's going through. none of her found family could help her the way he could. this is where i think it gets interesting. seasons 2 - 5, where i said was her middle, and basically the peak/climax of daisy as a character, she was falling for and fell for lincoln. it was known that daisy was still in love with lincoln in season 5. possibly around 2 years after he died. but then we found out that she had moved on from lincoln in the beginning of season 6.

season 6 and 7 is the end of her journey with the team. they're still a family. just a family who occassionally see each other. now in season 6, like i mentioned previously, it was acknowledged that daisy had moved on. the past will always be with her, no doubt. the trauma would stick. hopefully just bits and pieces. but it would still be there until she either had alzheimer's, dementia, any other retrograde amnesia injuries or diseases, or the day she died. she would never forget lincoln or ward, heck even miles. she won't forget her past. unless it was taken away from her. so, back to the topic at hand, she wanted her own fitz. she had grown from the woman she was in the beginning, she had grown from the woman and superhero that she was in the middle. she knows who she is now. with the people she worked with. and the people she calls her family. and also with anyone. daisy's ending was perfect (to me at least). she wasn't looking for love right then and there. she was burnt one too many times. but she wanted that kind of love and support. the love and support that fitz and simmons have for each other. something that daisy lacked all her life. she ended up with someone who gave her what she wanted. and what she needed.

with sousa, it's a little different. because we didn't get to see much of his background and family life. we didn't get to know what his life was like during the war and before the war. we begin to see him in the ssr. we all knew, literally everyone knew, even the characters knew that sousa's practically in love with peggy. except for maybe peggy herself. but i'm sure she had an inkling. she definitely had an inkling. but then things go on and he became chief of the west coast office and he was in los angeles while peggy was in new york. he moved on (or so we thought). he started dating violet and was ready to marry her. he told her he loved her. and he did. it's just that he was also in love with peggy. still. and violet saw that. it's as clear as day. and they broke it off.

we didn't get to see much of sousa's middle. mainly because ac wasn't renewed for a third season. which was such a waste because it ended with so many things left unanswered. but we know that between 1947 - 1955, peggy and sousa broke up. we have no idea why. we don't know if steve was back. nada. all we know is that they broke up. when did they break up? again. no idea. but we know that peggy means a lot to sousa. she's like (sorta; i don't like making comparisons but anyway) sousa's lincoln in a way (i'm not saying that they're the exact replica. daisy/lincoln and peggy/sousa are quite different. but they do have similarities. those pairings are the kind where they want to be together forever but knew that it wouldn't work; my interpretation). she didn't die, we know that. but she's sort of the one that got away. my guess is that it's because shield and the world was more important than each other. which wasn't dissimilar to daisy and lincoln's situation. so, yes. peggy's sousa's middle. she influenced him a lot. and he found himself amidst ssr and shield (just like daisy did).

sousa's end was again, perfect. he went to the future. got to see what the organisation he helped build came to be. he went on an adventure to explore space. which he would geek out over. instead of dying, he got to live. with the love of his (new) life. he may be a man out of time, but with daisy and their ragtag family, he is right where he belongs.

daisy and sousa began with "who the hell are you" and ended with "it's beautiful" (just putting this here because i love that fact).

so. they started pretty quickly, didn't they? 4 episodes in and sousa fell in love with daisy. 7 episodes in and daisy fell in love with sousa. though i doubt that they thought they're in love. but they're falling. or walking towards it. 7x03 was when they met. it's where it all began. in area 51 of all places (foreshadow much?). but what's even more interesting is that technically, they began twice. from daisy's perspective, they met in 6x13 (which plenty of people had pointed out; but @agents-of-fangirling was the most recent). even though they didn't actually meet because sousa was wearing that blue (seriously his colour really is blue) hazmat suit and daisy was disoriented (may dying and all that jazz). but from sousa's perspective, they met in 7x03. where they actually made eye contact and conversed. how many couples can say that the when of their first encounter was debatable?

now. their middle, in the video edit, i used the scene from 7x10. because i think that's a pretty good middle. they had their first first kiss. sousa had no idea that happened. yet, there he was, wanting to help. just like his time-loop self. he extended a hand and she accepted. she accepted help. do you know how much of a development that was??? because i think that it's a huge character development (i still haven't rewatched so don't take my word for it). i think that's a good depiction of their middle. oh yeah. before i forgot. they also had two first kisses. and again, i say, how many couples can say that they had two first kiss? figured i'd choose the scene in the middle of those first kisses (pun intended lmao).

sidenote: did y'all see the devastation in her eyes when sousa volunteered to stay in the 80s? or how her eyes went wide and she started to panic when he was injected in the time loops? sousa's a man of action. and when he says something, he means it. so, his constant concern over daisy and him wanting to help in any way he can, it's his love language.

and then we have their ending. the perfect end to an imperfect couple (because nobody's perfect *cue hannah montana*). daisy got sousa a typewriter. because he's from the 50s. since when did daisy buy gifts for her boyfriends/partners/lovers? and they watched e.t. together? that's normal couple things. even though they are far from normal. but they get to experience it all together. daisy didn't get to in the past. none that we know of anyway. and now she does. also, that smile when she talks about him. that fond smile that grazed her lips at the thought of him. i've never seen her smile like that before (none that i remember; and if she did, well then i'm so so happy for her). she looks happy. serene. and her saying "he's a dork" twice in the season just makes my heart burst with happiness for them.

sidenote: my headcannon is that "he's a dork" is code for "i love him too much to explain it in words."

i'd like to believe that even though it has ended, their story has just begun. they're going through their middle right now. and i hope that they won't end. in other words, their end was not an ending. it was a beginning of a new life.

as daisy said, "we're loving the journey together." keyword: journey. it's a long road up ahead. with countless of challenges and obstacles in the way. but in the end, all that matters is that they face it together.

This this a Wish Tree event AKA a gacha. You can do either single pulls or x10 pulls from the gem pull tree, spending either Galaxy Coupons or gems. It doesn’t matter which you use, they don’t affect the results.

There will be sale on coupons in game so take a look after reset. The cheapest pack will allow you to get 10 coupons for $5, woo! There are other $10 and $30 packs. If you buy gems, the larger packs will drop double the number of gems the first time you buy them. A standard 10x pull will cost you 1800 gems or $30, which is why hoarding, side quests and limited event packs are your friend.

MLQC events are expensive if you want to go for every card. If you’re F2P or C2P (free to play/cheap to play) be mindful about which events and cards you want to shoot for. Be very selective!

As you’re are squeaky shiny new player you probably don’t have any gems or Galaxy coupons hoarded up. As you keep playing the game over the next few months, it’s a good idea to hoard your gems and Galaxy coupons for events.

The nice thing about Wish Tree events is that you can have a go at doing a few free/cheap pulls and if you get your card, amazing!! If you don’t, you probably wound up with something new you can add to your collection.

The frustrating thing about Wish Tree events is you can walk away very disappointed. Try to go in with the knowledge that you might not get the card you want.

I whaled on the Halloween event (spent a wodge of real world money) and did 144 pulls, and these were my results:

—Lucien event SSR x 2

—Victor event SSR

—Two non-event SSR and 14 SR

—Redeemed Gavin using the event currency AKA the card I wanted in the first place 😂

Note that despite doing 144 pulls I didn’t get the full set of Halloween cards! Kiro didn’t come home. This is normal. Some people did get the full set and that happens too the lucky bastards.

One important new thing: MLQC has added a “prayer” feature where you can up the odds on Gavin one guy of your choosing. He’ll have 50% of the TOTAL event SSR drop rate of 1.5%. So while you’re praying, his odds of dropping will be 0.75% and the others will have the other 0.75% distributed among them.

So the odds are LOW. That’s very important to remember! Get excited and enjoy yourself and keep smiling. You’ve played gachas before though so you know how it goes.

Cater: Ah, it's almost time for the interview. Let me adjust the angle of my hat one more time… Okay, ready to go.

Cater: If I remember right, the presenter was chosen by the "Magical Pendulum." I wonder who's gonna come today～

Floyd: Wassup～ Hanadai-kun. Happy Birthday～

Cater: Aah! You just showed up out of nowhere, you scared me. Wait, you're telling me that you're my presenter, Floyd-kun?

Floyd: Yep, yep. 'Kay, gonna start the interview.

Cater: Right away!? But, okay, it's fine, I'll answer any question you throw at me no problem ♪

Floyd: The first question is…

Floyd: "If you could use flight magic to go anywhere, where would you like to go?”

Floyd: You don't gotta think about how much magic it'd take to get there.

Cater: Travel using flight magic, hm… Ah! Then, I want to go see this waterfall that's been showing up a ton lately on Magicam!

Cater: The water falls from so high that half-way down it turns to mist, and when the sunlight hits it, there's this gorgeous rainbow…

Cater: And if you're lucky, you'll get to see a real pretty sight of a ton of rainbows!

Cater: Whenever I check the hashtag of this waterfall, it's got a ton of posts with thousands of likes.

Cater: If I post a picture or video, I bet I'll also totally go viral!

Floyd: But other people're doin' the same thing, right? If you just copy 'em, I don't think that's gonna draw anyone in.

Cater: You figured that out quick, Floyd-kun. Yeah, of course, I've also given that a thought too.

Cater: The reason why the waterfall I just mentioned is even making its rounds in the first place is because it's not some place that can be reached on foot.

Cater: It's a spot where only those who book an expensive tour and take a helicopter there would be able to take these photos…

Cater: And because the helicopter's flight path is fixed, and there's only so close it can take you, most of the pictures are all the same.

Cater: But, unlike a helicopter, a broom would be more maneuverable and let you choose your own course, right?

Floyd: Aah, I get it. So you'd be able to take different kinds of pics from everyone else.

Cater: Yeah! If I had a broom, I'd be able to go behind the waterfall, and down towards the waterfall basin too…

Cater: If I got a video of any of the places the helicopter can't go, or of me flying under the rainbow on my broom, that video'd totally take off!

Floyd: Wooow～ You really thought of everything just to take pictures.

Cater: Heh, that's because I'm always researching into photogenic spots. I have plans where I think, "I'd like to take this kind of video here" for each place.

Cater: Honestly, though, I haven't been able to go anywhere～ I bet once I actually get a chance to go, the buzz would have died down.

Floyd: But wouldn't it be better to take the pictures when that buzz is gone and there's no people in the way?

Cater: I mean, as a Magicammer, I want to have my pictures go viral so...

Cater: If everyone else has already gotten bored of it, there's really no point in going.

Floyd: Hmm… So you're saying, as long as it can go viral, you don't care where you go…

Floyd: Then maybe I'll take you to the Coral Sea sometime. I'll show you some out of the way spots that no one knows about.

Cater: That's… a crazy rare chance! Yeah, you gotta take me there, Floyd-kun!

Floyd: You got it. I think you'll reeeaaally enjoy it～

Floyd: Oh, yeah! I forgot to mention, but we might get attacked by sharks along the way!

Cater: A… A SHARK!? Wait, did you mean… like we'd be swimming underwater instead of going there on a boat…?
