He had you right where he wanted you. You glanced around, desperately trying to catch someone’s attention, but Ernie seemed to sense it. He grabbed your face with his fingers, rough and slightly dirty, forcing you to look into his big brown eyes. There was something about those eyes that made your pulse quicken.

“Relax, sweetheart, we’re just talking, right?” he said, licking his lips as he leaned in closer, his body almost pressed against yours. You felt cornered against the wall, caught in a situation you never expected to be in with Ernie. The last thing you wanted was for his friends to notice how close the two of you were.

Ernie seemed to read your thoughts. He noticed your quick glances towards the little group gathered on the other side of the pub. Then, he moved in even closer, shielding you from the view of others with his body. The heat radiating off him made you feel trapped and exhilarated all at once.

“Ernie, I…” you started, but he shushed you by pressing his fingers against your lips.

“You have very soft lips, my dear…I’m so jealous of Frank,” he murmured, completely ignoring you

You felt his thumb trace the curve of your lips, and suddenly, his brown eyes darkened with an intensity that made your breath hitch. “Can you open that little mouth for me?” he asked softly. Your legs felt like jelly, not from fear but from the thrill of the moment, which scared you even more because deep inside, this situation was turning you on.

“C’mon, darling… I know very well you want to open that little mouth for me. Don’t try to fool me.” Suddenly, he took your hand and slid it into his pocket, leaning closer to your ear. His hot breath smelled faintly of brandy.

“Do you know what this is? I bet you do… they’re yours.”You suddenly realised that what you were holding was real, your eyes weren’t deceiving you. Your suspicions were finally confirmed.

“I prefer them wet… but they smell just like you…it works too” he added, pressing a kiss just below your earlobe, sending a jolt through you.

“How do you…?” You froze, taken aback by the entire situation

“A magician can’t reveal his little tricks, can they?” he laughed, the sound both unsettling and strangely intoxicating. You couldn’t help but think he was completely out of his mind, yet the way he laughed sent shivers of excitement through you.

“Ernie, I swear, if you keep this up, I’m going to tell Frank,” you managed to say, surprising yourself with the courage that had suddenly bubbled up within you. You weren’t sure where it had come from.

“Tell him, I don’t mind a single bit. He should know better than to leave his girlfriend alone…” Ernie replied, his tone almost teasing, he was trying to push your boundaries.

“Ernie…” you warned him, trying to keep your voice steady.

“We both know what you really think about me,” he continued, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth, his confidence only growing as he leaned in even closer.

You felt your heart racing, torn between the desire to pull away and the magnetic pull that kept you close to him.

Oh look, it seems like there's a Republican-led movement to purge voter rolls in the lead-up to the election! It's almost as if your vote matters and they don't want you to vote! Anyway, I whipped up a quick map (based on this) that shows when the voter registration deadline is in each state. There are a few deadlines coming up in the next week or so.

If you live in a state that regularly purges voter rolls for infrequent voters (the orange ones in the first map), or if you moved recently, it's good to check if you're still registered to vote.

Vote.org makes it super easy to check your registration: https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/

Just put in your address and DOB and they'll tell you whether you're registered. (And they give you a quick link to register online if it turns out that you're not! Only the 9 states in white on my map don't have online registration, and for those they provide instructions on how to do it via mail or in person.) If you want an extra verification, find your state's election website and double-check there.

So yeah, give yourself peace of mind -- do a quick check. :)
