Okay, I have more Thoughts.

A post I reblogged earlier (I'll link it here if I can) mentioned the prominence of the visual theme of broken glass in the film, and it's honestly inspiring.

Because I think Liir's story is not about breaking through perceptions. This is a young man who doesn't know who he is; unlike Elphaba, he doesn't have a self to cling onto, to remind him of who he is, and while he isn't being constantly reminded that he doesn't fit in, just like her he constantly feels this sense of not belonging to the world he knows. That loneliness follows him all his life.

I envision that, as a young man who goes into the home guard to find a purpose, in service of an Oz that doesn't know who it is without the Wizard, who sees visions of the past of wherever he is, who due to amnesia doesn't know his own past, his is a journey of self-discovery. He isn't breaking glass, but trying to fix a broken mirror, finding any reflection to tell him who he is. In a world scarred by the evil deeds of the past, that has forgotten its own history and is too trying to rediscover its old buried identity, he is Oz, seeking out the past in order to move forward again -- possibly even assisting in the search for Princess Ozma Tippetarius when Ozians discover the forgotten history of their monarchy, and coming to decide against even that old order, deciding that just looking for a lost child is a good enough deed, but not worth installing a leader no one chose.

It will be through becoming a father and getting the opportunity (however terrible the circumstances of it, however much it was against his choice) to nurture the future that he learns what it means, and discovers who he is.

(Also, I love the idea of bringing in the tale of the Witch in the Cave, of potentially bringing Elphaba back).

It is the Year of Our Lord 2022 and I am STILL obsessed with the idea of a musical sequel to Wicked, based on the sequel novel Son Of A Witch.

Succession x F1

Since it's F1 GP weekend, and with not a single soul having asked for this, I thought about Succession characters and which race they'd go to. (This is based on none of them seeming to be F1 people, so it would be all for side businesses or just for the vibes.)

Logan: He wouldn't even get close to the track, ngl. But, if he does, he goes for the Hungarian GP making it a corporate retreat for everyone (with more Boar on the Floor).

Connor: Silverstone out of being a classic track in line with the eldest boy vibes, and it was built on a WWII airfield, so it has a historical element.

Kendall: The Number One boi would go to Spa-Francorchamps because it's unpredictably rainy and the weather is always moody.

Roman: He gets Monza because wanted to book a race in Italy, didn't specify which, realizes he should've specified, and ends up in getting swarmed by the Tifosi who jump to the track and get all rowdy.

Shiv: She gets Zandvoort because it used to be on the calendar, then it didn't, and it's making a comeback into becoming mainstay. The weather is also super unpredictable.

Tom: He gets Monaco but because he googled about how to get the most "classic" and luxe experience knowing absolutely nothing about F1. He gets annoyed and throws off-shot remarks if he sees anyone walking around wearing official merch, pretending to be already so aloof about it despite being his first time attending.

Greg: Monaco because he follows Tom.

Stewy: Singapore no doubt. Great track, requires top strategy, and happens at night. Gets to spend a relaxing weekend treating himself to some good food and partying.

I'll use this to talk more in-depth about these two!

Jack is a retired military dog hybrid, a German Shepard I imagine. After many years of service he got retired after a particularly nasty wound to his arm which he never fully recovered from (think Operation Javier) and was basically made homeless and without purpose overnight the moment he healed a bit.

He got miraculously taken in by the lovely older lady (Reader's, Leon's and Krauser's owner) who has a huge heart for those in need and she saw something more in Krauser than an old useless ex-military hybrid! He was taken in and given a new purpose as a guard dog on her small farm, plus he never had to suffer hunger, cold or injuries again; he had a warm and safe place to sleep, hot food in his belly and later he even got two mates to mount and protect <3

Leon on the other hand is a lovely labrador dogboy! He was initially to be a police force hybrid and he was quite good at it! However he was deemed 'too nice' and was disqualified from the force and basically the same thing as with Jack happened; he got taken in and made a guard dog with the same comfy accommodations.

And Leon was not someone who gave up easily! The dogboy was very much determined to prove to everyone that he was a good boy and even better guard dog! Yeah sure he got distracted once or twice (many more times) by the lovely Kitty, you, and mounted you when he was supposed to do patrol but! :(( He just couldn't help himself! You smelled so nice and were extra sweet to him, nuzzling up to him like that, he just couldn't help himself. Plus it was another way to prove himself as a worthy mate and maybe even future daddy for your pups :(

Sure he got a yelling down from Krauser (and Jesus that man's voice can carry), the older hybrid snarling at him for getting distracted by pussy but Leon has to disagree; Jack is one to talk! He mounted you frequently when on patrol, dragging you by the scruff off into a secluded place where his strong, clawed hands kneaded at your tits and full hips before he got on top of you with a chuff and nasty smirk on his scarred face :(

idk how many of y'all remember/know of brother bear 2, but "it will be me" reminds me of this entire game. I'll explain why

I just imagine that this would be something Clover would say to Ceroba to reassure her, watching a child die and all (plus, add the guilt of what she had done to Kanako and it feels unbearble). I can mentally picture her lying in her bed in her old home at night and thinking of the day of Clover's sacrifice, crying to herself. But then she remembers that Clover wanted this; they wanted her to be happy again and start over, and Ceroba would smile instead

This message would be for Martlet. The lyrics reminded me of this quote of hers:

Even though she willingly left the royal guard and apologized for being scatterbrained, I feel like Marts would still need more time to gain confidence in her own judgement. And whenever she would feel insecure, she would remember to follow her heart (and not superficial benefits like she used to) just like Clover did. It would bring her comfort

Clover climbing Mt. Ebott, and, post pacifist, finding small ways to reach out to their friends even after their body is gone. As you go your way and I go mine especially hits hard. Basically the others are going to a new life and a bright future (light), while Clover goes towards death (darkness). And the "light" is their soul, "them"

How special Clover made Star feel (not like a "nobody" but like an actual sheriff), and how he saw them as the child he never had (based on my hc but it feels pretty canon). These lines can also be talking about the impact Clover had on everyone, but I had to include Clover's impact on Starlo, just like I did their impact on every other main character (minus Axis, sorry buddy, not enough stanzas)

The first line reminded me of Dalv right off the bat. He'd sure as hell miss his first friend, the one who got him out of his comfort zone

-Chapter 5-

You stared at him before giggling, “Funny Chris, you know….. about us…now that we’re…ya know…gonna be public and all that.” you smiled as he chuckled. “Baby…you know we could never be public…I can't ditch the perfect, good girl next door, to go out with an old co star…besides, we’d never work out publicly, we're better this way. Private, just you and me, locked away in a bedroom somewhere.” he leaned in to kiss you again, but you pulled back feeling bile rise in your throat. “You never planned on leaving her for me…did you?” you asked, staring at the bed. “Babygirl,” he walked around the bed to sit by you on your side of the bed. 

He pulled your chin up kissing your lips before you pulled back, he only had a moment to see your eyes before you slapped him as hard as you could. “Get out. Get the fuck out!” you glared at him before you moved quickly off the other side of the bed. “Sweethear-” “FUCK YOU!” you screamed. “GET OUT!!” you grabbed his clothes throwing them at him, he ducked as his shoes flew at his head. 

The door busted open, your security guards and Megan stood there. “Oh Y/N…” She said softly as Chris stood up after sliding his jeans on. “Y/N! Baby come on! Knock it off, let's talk about this!” he snapped back at you. You raced off into the bathroom, locking the door as the tears fell. You started the shower, a sob leaving your lips as you slid down to the floor crying. 

A few weeks later

“And in other news mega worldwide Popstar Y/N, has deleted all posts from her social media. Sources say, She’s “Blacking out any and all communication on tour, and while she loves sharing her life with her fans, touring has taken a toll on her, she’ll return eventually, but for now. She’s got to focus on herself.” wow, so no more thank you posts to all her concert goers? That’s gonna feel like a slap to the face.” the news reporter stated as her co-star started in on you and your reputation. You sat by the window staring out over the city, thankful that no one could see you all the way up here. “Turn it off.” you grumbled out, “You know it's interesting, one former Avenger star announces his wedding date with pictures of his fiance’ the same time another former Avenger star blacks out her social media? I smell drama!” he chuckled as she gasped. 

“I don’t need to hear how Lacey and Simon think I’m some big fuck up for not wanting to be on social media right now.” you said getting up and grabbing your phone. “I’m going down to the gym, maybe running will clear my head.” you said matter of factly before grabbing your headphones. “Maybe you shouldn’t go alone?” Megan asked as she stood up. Your phone had been blowing up from friends and family checking in on you, wondering why you’d gone radio silent. 

You felt your phone go off as you exited your room and felt the corners of your mouth turn up for the first time in what felt like forever. 

Hemsworthy: ‘This place is super boring without you here.’ 

Y/N: ‘Tell me about it. I wish you were here. Life fucking sucks right now.’ 

Hemsworthy: ‘Heard you went black out on socials….you doin okay? 

Y/N: ‘Yep…got a lot going on & I don’t want to see anything online…just, want to focus back on friends and myself for a while…’ 

You sighed as you sent the message, heading into the gym where you began to walk on the treadmill. You thought back over all your time with Chris lately, before he left for South America. The movie nights eating ice cream, playing new songs for him, talking him through his depression when it came to the divorce. You felt tears in your eyes, how could you have been so fucking stupid. 

Were you this desperate to fall in love and be with someone? You’d mistook your friendship with Chris, the things that friends did, as romantic interest and felt yourself developing feelings for him. He was just recently divorced…why would he even think about dating anyone; you needed serious help. 

Hemsworthy: ‘You know if you keep running on the treadmill, you’re gonna burn holes in those tennis shoes missy. :P’ 

You glanced at the message before you did a double take; you didn’t remember telling him you were going to work out to clear your head. “If I have to stand back here any longer I’m gonna go insane.” his thick Australian accent startled you, causing you to whip around as you pulled your headphones off. “Oh my god!” you dashed over to him jumping into his arms as he laughed and hugged you tight. “I missed you popstar,” he mumbled in your ear as you buried your face into his hoodie, breathing in his scent. “I missed you too,” you whispered against his shoulder. 

You jumped down smiling up at him, “Let’s go order some room service and catch up,” he chuckled and cleared his throat, “Uh…I wanted to see if you wanted to go to dinner tonight, with me?” he smiled softly. “Somewhere nice?” he asked as you grinned and nodded, “yeah! That sounds fun!” you said as you both walked to the Elevators. “I have this super cute outfit I’ve been wanting to wear anyways!” you grinned as he chuckled. “I’m sure you’re going to look as beautiful as you always do,” Chris smiled at you, his eyes twinkled softly as you talked about your upcoming show, which was a couple of nights away and Chris was thrilled he was going to attend it. 

When he was touring with you, he would stay back at the hotel, usually cooking a meal for the two of you and picking out a couple of movies for you guys to watch and relax after your shows. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to go to your shows, it was just easier to avoid the press. After the divorce, anytime they had the opportunity to print something about him or his ex wife, they jumped on it.  

Once you guys made it back up to the hotel suite, you got ready for the evening, excited to have a nice dinner with someone who didn’t give a shit how famous you were, or what was happening in your life. You looked in the mirror and smiled at the black sequinned dress, which looked like a night sky, with clouds and a half moon on it. You wore strappy black heels and a fur jacket; and paired it with a silver flashy purse with a diamond studded necklace. 

Chris grinned as he saw you come from your bedroom, “Whoa…you look…..incredible,” he held his hand out spinning you around as you giggled softly, “Thank you. My friend Kayleigh had this made for me, and I hadn't found the right occasion to wear it yet, but thought tonight was perfect.” you smiled as he smiled tenderly at you. “Well it’s perfect, come, I’ve made reservations for us.” he chuckled as you giggled excitedly. “Yay! It’s going to be so nice just…going to dinner and relaxing,” you said as you both headed to the car. 

Pulling up to your favorite restaurant you sighed softly, the paparazzi were covering the street and you looked at Chris. “I’m sorry…I know you want to avoid them, I can go first…maybe see if they have a back entrance you can come through?” you said as he reached over and grabbed your hand, smiling softly. “I think I can manage a few photos with a beautiful girl before we go to dinner.” 

The way he smiled at you, something felt different, you were starting to convince yourself that it was all in your head, but a small part of you wanted him to be into you. You knew you were developing feelings for him. “Y/N! Over here! Over here!” several voices shouted at you as you climbed out of the SUV and made your way around to the sidewalk. You smiled, waved at them, clearly not showing annoyance that you held toward them sometimes and even asked a few of them how they were doing this evening. 

You stopped and posed for a couple of photos, when the other door opened and Chris got out smiling and waving at them for a moment before he put his hand on the small of your back as he walked with you to the door. The camera clicks intensified as he placed his hand on your back and you could hear them shouting more questions as you walked in together.

NYCB Attracting Younger Fans

The AP put out this story, which has run in many papers.

I've never understood why so many organizations prize young patrons over old. The old ones have more money, after all. But I suppose they're thinking of their future: today's young people are tomorrow's "sea of gray." 🙄

It's also news to me that Whelan is in charge of programming. I'm sure that Stafford has (a big) say in what goes on.

At 75, NYC Ballet is getting older. Its audience is skewing younger, and that’s the plan

NEW YORK (AP) — Alice McDermott settled into her seat at New York City Ballet on a recent Friday night, excited to see her first-ever ballet performance. The 31-year-old Manhattanite, who works in recruiting, was on a fun girls’ night out with three friends she’d met through work, starting with dinner.

“They told me I’d love the ballet,” says McDermott, who was also excited to realize she was already familiar with one of the evening’s performers, Tiler Peck, via the dancer’s popular Instagram feed. “They said you can put on a nice dress and just immerse yourself in another world, whilst marveling at what the human body can achieve.”

Seems they were right: At the end of the evening, McDermott, a new fan, went home and watched a ballet documentary.

Perhaps you could call it “Ballet and the City”? Whatever the term for McDermott’s ballet evening with pals, the scenario would surely be music to the ears of the company — which has been celebrating its 75th birthday with fanfare this year — and especially its artistic leaders of the past five years, Jonathan Stafford and Wendy Whelan.

The two, both former dancers at the storied troupe founded by George Balanchine, have made it a key goal to bring in a younger audience to ensure the company’s long-term health — and more broadly, to guard the vitality of a centuries-old art form.

It seems to be working. Though some initiatives have been in place for longer, the last five years have seen a marked shift, according to numbers provided to the Associated Press: In 2023, 53% of ticket buyers were under age 50, and people in their 30s made up the largest age segment by decade. Five years earlier, in 2018, 41% of ticket buyers were under 50, and people in their 60s made up the largest age segment.

Now, longtime ballet followers note that on a bustling Friday evening you can look down from the first ring of the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center and not simply see, well, a sea of gray.

`A GENERATION OF YOUNG PROFESSIONALS�� A major factor in attracting younger people, especially those under 30, has been affordable pricing. There are also evenings targeting young professionals, including post-show receptions. And there have been collaborations with visual or musical artists with youthful followings — like the musician Solange, who in 2022 was commissioned to score a ballet by 23-year old choreographer Gianna Reisen.

The Solange collaboration was a significant moment, Whelan and Stafford said in a recent interview, surveying the past five years as the thumping of leaping dancers’ feet echoed through the ceiling above Stafford’s office.

“We sold out every show,” Whelan noted. “It was a little nugget, but it was memorable.”

Perhaps even more important was the fact, says Stafford, that about 70% of those ticket buyers were new to the company — contributing to “a generation of young professionals in the city that are at our theater every night now.”

Katherine Brown, the ballet’s executive director, said the company had taken a look at the theater and vastly reduced the price of certain seats — and saw them fill up. She also noted the 30-for-30 program, where members under 30 can buy any seat in the house for $30. “That thing has just exploded,” Brown says, from some 1,800 members in the last full season before the pandemic-forced shutdown, to some 14,000 now.

One can’t discount the “pure economics” of an evening at the ballet, especially for young people, says Wendy Perron, longtime dance writer and former editor of Dance Magazine. “When I was in New York in the ’70s and ‘80s, I just couldn’t afford to go to the ballet,” she says.

GETTING BETTER ACQUAINTED Also not to be discounted: the effect of social media in promoting dancers as people with personalities.

“We’ve got this crop of really exciting but also relatable, approachable dancers, and through social media, audiences can connect to them in a way they couldn’t back when we were dancing,” says Stafford, who retired as a dancer in 2014.

Consider Peck, one of the company’s most popular ballerinas (and a rising choreographer), whose Instagram feed had reached McDermott before she ever saw her dance. Peck supplies her half-million followers with short, punchy videos about everything from her 10 favorite dance roles to how she applies stage makeup. Her videos often feature her partner onstage and off, rising principal dancer Roman Mejia.

It’s all very different from a time when — like Odette in “Swan Lake” — ballerinas used to be mysterious and, above all, silent.

Social media — whether used by the company or via the dancers’ own feeds — can also answer questions. If you attended a performance of “The Nutcracker” a few seasons ago, you might have wondered why dancer Mira Nadon, as Sugarplum Fairy, suddenly disappeared from the stage at a key moment. The answer was on her Instagram later: her pointe shoe had slipped off.

“See, you can get all your answers from Instagram now,” quips Whelan, who herself has an active feed.

ESTABLISHING A PARTNERSHIP A few months ago, Whelan, a much-loved former NYCB principal who also retired in 2014, got a congratulatory text from Stafford in the morning — it had been exactly five years since the two had taken the helm after a turbulent period when #MeToo accusations caused scandal.

Historically, the company had been led by one man — Balanchine until 1983, then Peter Martins. This time, the board tried something new: a duet. Stafford was already interim head, and Whelan had applied for the job.

“They put us in a room and closed the door, and we were like – ‘Hi?’” Whelan says. “They were like, figure it out! And we did.” Stafford, the artistic director, serves as a bridge between the creative and business sides. Whelan, associate artistic director, focuses on the delicate task of programming.

Company insiders describe a mood different from the days when one outsized, all-powerful personality ruled from above. For one thing, the pair says they’ve instituted annual taking-stock conversations with each dancer.

Diversity — ballet is slowly changing but still overwhelmingly white — is also a priority, they say, and that includes diversifying “the pipeline,” meaning students at the affiliated School of American Ballet.

Recently, the company heralded its first two Black dancers to dance Dewdrop, the second most important female “Nutcracker” role: India Bradley and guest artist Alexandra Hutchinson of the Dance Theater of Harlem. Yet to come is a Black Sugarplum Fairy. The company says 26% of of its dancers identify as people of color, whereas 10 years ago that figure was 13%. Stafford and Whelan have commissioned 12 ballets by choreographers of color in the last six years, it says.

“We know where the gaps are, and we take it seriously,” Whelan says.

She and Stafford say they’re also paying more attention to wellness, be it physical training to avoid injury, healthy diets, or a more frank discussion of mental health.

As for the company’s financial health, it is strong, Brown says, four years after the pandemic cost tens of millions in losses The 2024 budget is roughly $102 million, compared to $88 million in 2019. Audience capacity has exceeded pre-pandemic levels.

As for new fan McDermott, she’s planning more visits, along with her friends.

“I think we have a new tradition between the four of us,” she says. “We’ll definitely be making it a bit of a thing.”

💜 Engineer au - it takes place at the Hello Engineer park. Neighbor is living on his own, in a small cave. tortured by the kids from time to time. on the edge of going insane from them. one day, he meets a young man (Nicky) in his thirties, but the thing is..he could've sworn they know each other from somewhere. 

🩵 ESS - aka Endless Smith Story. this one was a project name. I had to scrap this story, simply because the beta version of HN2 retconned it. and because my friend said it's the plot of Re:Zero and I had no idea about it(I didn't know the anime at all during that time..wait..idk it still). Smith, slowly going from HG, to HN2 alphas, sees HG Quentin dying and he wants to save him. the only person who can help, is Neighbor, who controls the Mayak, which can travel through time and space and builds. soon, it'll be clear that they're in a game, and that this game resets. but how can Smith save Quentin from certain death, if everything resets...and someone else is really against them? 

🩵 family au - speaks for itself. Neighbor and Player are related, like in beta 3. sometimes I like writing / drawing in this topic, because I really like this idea. this Neighbor and Player are entirely separate characters from my other au's.

it's still crazy to me, that people used to make fanart for different storylines and the old fandom exactly knew which art is for what...and nowadays people just endlessly accuse the other for things that aren't even there.

🩵 guard au - a Hello Guest au. Theodore is a guard, Quentin too. Beatrix is their boss iirc. Smith remained a detective. One day, Theodore catches the leader of the vandals, who's Nicky, an orphan, who was adopted by the gang and became their leader. the guards try to make a better person from Nicholas. in this au, the vandals are in their twenties. the guards are in their thirties.

🩵 journalist Nicky au - that was my first ever au. Nicky was a journalist and Theodore was his neighbor. it's up on ao3, but I think only registered users can see it.

I didn't like the way I wrote the - imo brutal - end, that's when I kinda decided I'll lean towards happier endings. oh, and ignore the books, except the Ike plot.

🩵 Nicky and the neighbors au - this au is strictly only available for my patrons. the base story is about the SN Neighbors - they all exist, they're different Neighbors from different universes and different personalities (like Spider-verse, but I started writing it before it came out...bruh) Nicky is an adult man, who suddenly finds himself between all of these men. they love him and would do anything for him. Nicky slowly discovers, how the hell did so many Neighbors end up in the SN mansion (I liked the mansion from SN, so they live there. nothing else from SN matches)

🩵 The return - this is based on the final release of HN. it's a "what if" au, Nicky doesn't fight and win against his traumas, because Neighbor appears in his life again. this au has fanservice and since it's from 2019, ship. if I wrote it today, it wouldn't be ship, just a messed up family without sexual desire. but its from 2019! 

I made a few modifications which are listed on the page, I think neither of my stories have ever exactly matched the original HN stories.

💜 time traveler au - Theodore and Nicky are time travelers. Nicky is a young traveler, who one day accidentally lands in Theodore's bathroom. the man's so bored, he joins Nicky on his adventures, who can't stop repeating that he's straight (he isn't). 

most of my au's put their ages near each other, so they're usually 30--32--35--47 at max. 

💖 smaller au's - seen on my ao3 pages. small au's which take some elements from the original source, but I freely modify the rest. 

There's many au's that are great for experimenting. I'm a writer after all.

Well, my friend, you've come to the right place. Caveat that the shows I'll list vary wildly in genre and expected audience. All are extremely well written but ah... some have more violence than others.

But if you could handle the rape, incest, assault, and so much more of Utena I think you can handle it.

Though I will note, a good number of these are bleak/have rape, violence, etc.

For the uninitiated, shojou are shows traditionally aimed at female audiences and shonen are shows traditionally aimed at male audiences. They tend to have distinct styles.

If I list a year in parentheses, it's because there's more than one version and that's the version you should watch.

The Rose of Versailles: shojou historical drama, following a fictional female royal guard raised as a man to Marie Antoinette, follows Marie Antoinette's reign and the leading up to the revolution.

Berserk (1997): shonen tragedy, in a medieval quasi Europe, Guts joins a band of mercenaries.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes (1981): space opera, a war between two equally powered states has been raging for 150 years. Now, with the rising of two prominent generals, the balance is starting to shift. About politics, the futility of war, and pacifism.

The Glass Mask (1984): shojou drama, a thirteen-year-old girl runs away from home to pursue acting, showing great talent, but at great risk to her own physical and mental wellbeing as she obsessively pursues her career.

The Slayers (1995): adventure/action/comedy, Lina Inverse is a powerful mage with an eye out for gold, due to a fight she was never supposed to win, she finds herself pursued by gods and demons with the fate of the world at stake.

Kino's Journey (2003): absurdism, Kino visits a series of surreal towns for only three nights each.

Casshern Sins: sci-fi/post-apoctolyptic, after the end of the world, robots are all that remain and are slowly falling apart. An android named Casshern is said to be the cause.

Mononoke: thriller/character study, the mysterious medicine seller in the Edo era of Japan seeks out Mononoke in order to destroy them. To do so, he must learn both their form and their truth.

Now and Then, Here and There: sci-fi/post-apocalyptic, a boy named Shu finds himself transported to a futuristic world in which a madman reigns as king. There, he finds his pacifism tested as well as his faith in humanity.

The Irresponsible Captain Tylor: sci-fi/comedy, in the future Captain Justy Ueki Tylor finds himself captain of a broken down ship, it's unclear whether he's a genius, an idiot savant, or simply the world's luckiest madman.

Chaika the Coffin Princess: fantasy, in a fantasy world where a great war has just ended, two former mercenaries find themselves employed by the late emperor's daughter, who is seeking to find the pieces of her father's body in order to give him a burial.

Psycho-Pass: thriller/sci-fi, this is minority report but an anime. A young woman joins an organization in which criminals are sent to hunt down criminals, as it is a world in which crime is automatically detected before it can occur.

Fate/Zero: fantasy/action/tragedy, in the city of Fuyuki a great battle royale happens where mages summon figures of legend and history to battle on their behalf for the ultimate prize of the holy grail.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: mahou shojou satire, a satire of classical magical girl shows, follows a young girl Madoka who has the chance to become a magical girl in return for a miraculous wish.

Black Lagoon: crime, a young Japanese businessman finds himself kidnapped by pirates, his life turned upside down, and becomes a pirate himself.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: sci-fi/post-apocalyptic, a young boy named Shinji is summoned by his father, head of a government organization, to fight apocalyptic monsters.

Fractale: sci-fi/post-apocalyptic, in a future where all humans interface with technology, a young boy meets a runaway priestess and the strange hologram traveling with her.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan (either version): the versions have differences but both are good, follows a quasi-Persian story about a prince who finds himself in a power struggle.

Magic Knight: Rayearth: mahou shojou (magical girl), a group of three girls find themselves transported to a magical girl where they must save the Pillar. However, not all is as it seems.

Samurai 7: sci-fi/historical, The Seven Samurai retold in a futuristic setting. The priestess of a village sets out in order to hire samurai to protect her village from bandits.

Goblin Slayer: fantasy, a priestess joins an adventure guild but finds her expectations and sense of safety dashed on her first misson: what was supposed to be a simple task of slaying goblins. She ends up joining forces with a man known only as the Goblin Slayer.

Megalobox (season 1): sci-fi/sports, a young man living in the poor part of the city enters into a boxing tournament in which he is almost certainly guaranteed to lose. There is a second season, and while it had good parts, I consider it much weaker than the first.

Vinland Saga: historical/action, it's the 11th century and Denmark is at war with England, a young man from Iceland finds himself in a Danish mercenary group all so that he might kill the man who killed his father. (I have admittedly not seen season 2 yet, so I can't speak to that.)

Captain Harlock (1978): sci-fi/adventure, the pacing's very different from modern animes but is a great anime about love, sacrifice, the brutality of war, the degradation of society, and more. Captain Harlock, a dissident and outlaw turned pirate, finds himself the only one standing in the way of an alien invasion.

Akagi: tension, a young man starts in on gambling through mahjong and slowly seeks higher and higher stakes

Kaiji: tension, a young man sinks down into the pit known as gambling and begins bartering his life away for higher and higher stakes just for that one chance to claw his way out of poverty

Mr. Tonegawa: Middle Management Blues: Focuses on the character Tonegawa and Ootsuki from Kaiji, but it's worth watching Akagi first as well. Deals with the hilarious ridiculousness of being a mobster who must please a psychopath

Lupin the Third: Part 1 (1971): A very 1960's feeling spy/action show revolving around the exploits of a phantom thief and his colleagues and enemies. Great art, music, characters and interactions, and the episodes are all extremely engaging.

Lupin the Third: Part 2 (1975): A great follow-up to Lupin the Third: Part 1 on an international scene.

Yeah, I mean, for a ship to be similar to SatoSugu, I think one of them has to at least give off that Mom vibe like Suguru. Ngl, if Gojo were to marry Geto, he's not only going to get himself a wife but a Mom, as well, because he can be pretty childish and unhinged while Geto is there to make sure he doesn't run off somewhere. 😂

For your question, I'll go with Qiang Jinjiu.

My favorite character is definitely Shen Lanzhou. He's so pretty and smart. If he weren't so sickly, he would've been super strong when it comes to fighting. I love the fact that despite him often being looked down due to his looks and status, he ends becoming the most fearsome character in the story. Like, if you slight Ce'an, you may get off with just a few punches from him, but if you slight Lanzhou, you'll probably disappear that very same day. 😂

Next one is Xiao Ce'an. I love to see his change from wanting to kill Lanzhou on first sight then ended up becoming the most dedicated and loyal lover as the story progressed. Considering how precious Lanzhou is to me, I kinda share Ce'an's adoration for him and it just makes me happy to see him trying to spoil Lanzhou in every way.

For the third place, I'm not sure if I should say Papa Xiao Fangxu or Qi Zhuyin. They both definitely have a special place in my heart because of how strong and cool they are. Maybe I'll put Papa Xiao on 3rd and General Qi on 4th because I really love how we can see Xiao Fangxu's personality in Ce'an, especially with the way they both love and adore their partner. Qi Zhuyin is super awesome, though. Despite everyone's doubt on her as a woman, she proved to be a great and strong general (I think her troops are the most crucial there because she leads, like, 300thousand soldiers or something?).

I think it's pretty weird to put this one as a favorite character, but for some reason, I really love Ce'an's horse, Lang Tao Xue Jin. This horse always has the coolest description whenever it shows up and it's so funny when CeZhou had sex that night while riding the horse. The poor thing, LMAO. Also love Meng the gyrfalcon. I love them both. <3

As for my favorite moment, my number one is definitely when Ce'an resurrects the Libei Armored Cavalry after his father's death, that battle when they caught the Scorpions off-guard bytheir weapons and tactics upgrade in winter and pushes them all down to the Chasi Sink Hole. What I love the most about QJJ is how cinematic the battle scenes are and that one, followed by how Lanzhou desperately jumps into the sink hole to chase after Ce'an like a scene straight out of his nightmare is so uuurrgggghhhhhh 😭😭😭

Next one is the huge decisive battle with Hassen. Like, man, I didn't think I sleep at all until I finished that entire arc until Ce'an came and finished Hassen for good. From the very start when the invasion has just begun, to when the old commander (Yin Chang?) sacrificed himself outside the gate, when Fei Sheng rode all the way to lit the tower, when Tantai Hu came with reinforcement, and when Ce'an shot his arrow right before Hassen killed Lanzhou. I truly have no words; that must be the coolest battle scene I've read in my whole life.

The third one goes back a bit further to the earlier part when Lanzhou lets Ce'an go and locks him out of the city gate, so he could confront the guy who killed his teacher (Han Cheng, I think). But then Fei Sheng opened the gate for him and let Ce'an brought Lanzhou with him. That was so intense and the following hurt/comfort scene is just heartbreaking aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I'm not sure what to put as my fourth and fifth favorite scenes because there are so many interesting scenes throughout the story. I do remember two scenes that I still remember to this day.

One is when Qi Zhuyin's vice commander(?) sincerely told her that even if nobody were to remember her after this, then he would be the one to always light a candle for her, and after his death he would make sure his children continue to do the same. Qi Zhuyin really deserved that recognition after all her struggles and this show of sincere loyalty really just strikes me in my weakest point hhhhhhhhh

The other one is when Lu Yizhi came to visit Lanzhou to see what kind of man his brother-in-law has fallen in love with, but Lanzhou has no idea about it at all. And then at the end, Fei Sheng inadvertently opened the gift Lu Yizhi left for Lanzhou and went "mother of god it's a dowry" or something. xD

I'll talk about spoilers so read at your own discretion.

To start:

I had forgotten completely that RM already performed it at one of the D-Day last shows.

So I got the experience of hearing it for the first time twice.

I consider that a bonus!

But let's get to the important part:

The day it was released I barely woke up and rushed to watch the video.

We knew it was in Letterbox (it's a movie rating platform, really cool) so the cinematography wasn't really a surprise.

I just checked and they took it out of letterbox 😭

What caught me off guard was the total absence of rapping.

I always rooted for RM to find his singing voice, but that certain part just HITS the spot.

Wow.

And the GENRE?? I wasn't expecting it at all.

It has a bit of folk with the whistle and the talking-singing, along with the chorus sounds very R&B.

Not only he is singing a whole song by himself for the first time, but he is experimenting with the genre too!!!

Hallelujah.

And the lyrics hit me so hard too.

In the beginning we see him in a party looking apathetic.

A drunk man offers him a cigarette twice and he refuses (which reminds me of that one picture that was posted on Instagram).

We see him walk in and out of rooms looking confused.

In one of the rooms, he is even in a baby bed! Probably my favorite part.

Do you see something familiar?

Eventually he comes across a young woman that seems to be another version of him.

From then on, he looks changed, at ease.

He looks like he's finally the

A husband brushing teeth with his family.

A baby playing with his parents

And a boyfriend talking to a girlfriend.

I think this MV could have a lot of different meanings.

But the feeling like an outsider and running around, the apathetic look, the being misunderstood (in the fight with his girl) and then finally smiling and going back at peace....

It seems like making peace with the past, making peace with the old self.

It's ok to disappoint people sometimes.

The scene as a baby in the crib with the parents, the scene with the angry girlfriend made me think about that. Read expectations and disappointment.

"My kid will be this, my kid will do that"

"You promised this, you lied about that"

It might take time for us to understand life and ourselves, but when we are finally ready for it is liberating.

He was free to simply be a baby for his parents.

The present is the party, he's thinking about his childhood and past (and future?) relationship but he's not living in the moment, at least he wasn't in the beginning.

While interviewing Jin, Suga also brought back a conversation between him and Jin that happened while they were recording the first In The Soup:

Those are obvious things, in theory it's easy to understand. But when it comes to real life it's just different.

Without being careful we get caught up in moments, regrets, feeling overwhelmed.

The girl he meets in the end could represent many things: himself, his inner peace, happiness, army or spring.

As he mentions in the lyrics:

spring always been here, I will sleep in her eyes

That scene represents meeting a good friend, having a laugh, letting the weight off your shoulders.

And I just noticed the sunlight moving in the room representing the passage of time, interesting. That could mean how we lose track of time when with the right people, but it could also mean something else that I don't know.

He might be referencing Army, as spring day is such a loved song in the fandom.

What makes me think he might be talking about army is the lyrics too.

You are my pain, divine.

We know this life, although very beautiful, isn't always easy to BTS.

Along with all the prizes and support comes expectations.

I like to think this could be Namjoon making peace with his love for music, army and fame.

I see you come back to me.

please give us a summary of summerwind and the tower!

Hello, my friend!! I would love to!

Summerwind is my big project that I'm most excited about currently. It's a canon-divergent au in which Yusuf and Nicolo were childhood friends (turned enemies, of course!). The amount of research and planning that has gone into this fic has made me really consider just writing an original book, but there are some major changes I'd have to make for that to happen. It's got a lot packed into it, and a lot of family ocs. I'm just obsessed with stories of two little friends who keep coming back to each other (or running in to each other by chance) despite the different directions their lives take, and all the strife and conflict they go through in their own lives and with each other, only to finally meet again in adulthood as enemies..... that's the good shit!!!

I've been hesitant to post it for a few reasons: The events lead up to the First Crusade, and so I'm worried about sensitivity. And, this might be stupid but, there is not a lot of romance. If there is any, it's one-sided. I know there must be some readers out there who don't mind non-romantic fics, but still lol. It's niche. There are also some moments that are quite dark, but I will include content warnings. I think I'm just really enjoying my Game of Thrones era.

Here's more of a summary for you: Yusuf's side of the story is mostly about his longing to chart his own path, to be adventurous, and most of all to serve justice. This starts with him witnessing an enslaved man being pulled by a horse as a child, and leads him to make some unfavourable decisions when he manages his own business. His story also has a lot to do with generational expectation (his grandfather leaves huge boots to fill, and his father struggles with this himself) and with his relationship to his mother, who is Indigenous. Nicolo's side of the story is very different, mostly because his family is much poorer than Yusuf's. He has six brothers all in one house, for example. There's a lot more to spoil from his side, but I can say that his close relationship to his uncle (who is his namesake), a seaman and soldier, and his later resentment of the world and the way his family is treated by the people around him all lead him to the Crusade. He's also not a priest in this fic -- I drew from the comics and mixed in my own hefty serving of headcanons lol. Instead, he wants to be a smith. His father, instead, was raised in the Church but left when he fell in love with Nicolo's mother. I've actually become so attached to both of the father ocs lol, Ibrahim and Lucio, but I've rambled enough.

I currently have the first two chapters completed, sort of stuck on part of the third but I'm making slow progress. I expect there will be around 11 chapters. I'll give you the names of the chapters, though, since I have those! And then I'll shut up. In order, with some of the dates included, they are:

All of the immortals are there except for Andy, whose death haunts Nile in flashbacks and dreams throughout the narrative. The old guard are tasked with a mission much like the one in Annihilation (book & movie), and things get very strange very fast. Without spoiling anything, I really wanted to explore what it might mean for immortals to enter Area X/the shimmer. I'm mostly following the events of the movie. As of right now, it's about 7.5 thousand words.

The title of the fic came from two things: It's in reference to the "tower" (inverted tower? tunnel thing?) that the biologist finds in the book. In the movie it's a lighthouse. The other reference is the Major Arcana card, which symbolizes danger, destruction, and unexpected change.

I just watched the first 4 episodes of Hazbin Hotel and I have so much to say, OH LORD, this shit is incredible! As much as I miss the old voices, I feel that the new voice actors did a great job, and I'm excited for the next episodes. The music is phenomenal, and the fourth episode is simply a bomb of emotions! The only negative thing so far is that they have had very little interaction with Alastor, I'm really curious to know why they are guarding him so much. I hope to see more of him in the future! Other than that, I feel like it was worth waiting so long for the series, I think the team has done a great job so far. I'll probably talk about this with more spoilers in other posts.

My old pencil broke so I had to order a new one but while it's on the way I can't really draw anything (quite ironic for an art blog huh?)

But I want to post more Twin rulers content so here's some fun facts about my au! :D

♡ Sun and Moon were street performers before they were jesters in the castle!

♡ Sun has made it his personal goal to see different sides of Y/N that aren't just "I'm nothing more than a Royal guard" although a difficult task, Sun is thrilled with even the little things he learns about them.

♡ Y/N won't even think about relaxing until the day is over and the boys are safe in their room

♡ Moon would never admit it but he makes sure that him and Sun end their day early so Y/N can rest, after noticing their need to make sure the boys end their day safely before sleeping

♡ Y/N can be found training in the gardens during not so busy days! For some reason they refuse to train anywhere else

♡ Moon would not give up his hat when Roxy (the tailor) was discussing wardrobe change with their new title, she found it easier to just let him keep it

♡ Sun and Moon have an eclipse state, I will not elaborate that's all you're getting out of me for now ;3

♡ Y/N likes to read! And if Moon were to accidentally leave one of his books in Y/N's room after seeing them look intrigued at them that totally wouldn't mean anything, right?

♡ Sun and Moon still like to do little tricks from their jester days for Y/N and although they don't really show an outward reaction the boys know very well that Y/N thoroughly enjoys moments like that

♡ The boys were not thrilled to find out about Y/N's past living situations

♡ There is a rival kingdom that sees the new rulers as the perfect opportunity to put together some plans

Chapter Text

“When was the last time I set foot in a school?” fWhip asked himself as he exited his car. Though no school he was to before could compare to this old. Decapitated. Covered in graffiti and who knows what else building.

But it was where Scott's brother told him to come. And fWhip felt only slightly like an idiot for not telling anyone to worry if he does come back soon enough. Oh well, too late for regrets. He decided and silently entered.

There were no guards. No voices. Just eerie silence as fWhip looked for classroom 113. Luckily, the building seemed structurally sound enough so he wasn't too nervous.

113 wasn't too hard to find. And once fWhip did he didn't even bother with knocking.

“Hello brother-in-law,” he was greeted. Scott's brother was sitting on the shockingly surviving teacher's desk. Covered from head to toe. “Missed him this bad already? Or are you so worried about your reputation? Isn't the number two prosecutor in the area openly gay though? Why would you care about that?” Oh god, he even rambled in the same annoying manner as Scott.

“What do you want?” fWhip asked, not in the mood for games or tricks.

“Simple, cops are on the tail of one of our guys for Owen's sloppy exit, we need you to keep him out of jail. Don't worry, he didn't kill anyone in this case,” he explained, nice and simple for once. 

“And if I refuse?”

“You're not leaving here alive and Scott will be miserable for the rest of his life as our mother’s favourite… doll. She does enjoy showing off her better-behaved son after all,” the lack of care had a shiver go down fWhip's spine.

“If the guy is innocent as you say then sure, whatever,” he shrugged.

“What if I ask you for another favour in the future and the guy isn't innocent?”

“We'll see then, but we both know you can't kill me,” fWhip chuckled. Scott's craziness seemed to be rubbing off on him.

“And why would that be?”

“Because that would hurt Scott far too much. Him stepping in front of my car wasn't an accident and you know that. Will be as lucky as to find a driver fast enough to minimise the harm next time,” fWhip shrugged, with a grin. Xor was starting to shake. 

Xor was silent before laughing loudly. “You're an amusing one mister lawyer-man, I'll give you that. The documents and client will come to you tomorrow,” he said.

fWhip left without a word. Feeling eyes on his back the whole time until he was in his car.

As he drove off he could see Xor exit the building and pull off his hood. Was he calling someone?

Scott had no clue what was going on. One moment he was in fWhip's apartment and next he was forced to play house with mom. And then he just passed out again.

And woke up at fWhip's…

Was it Xornoth’s doing? Was he using him to get something out of fWhip? 

Hearing the key in the door Scott tensed up. But in walked only fWhip. Seemingly unharmed if a bit annoyed. Scott ran up to him glad he could walk normally with just some bandages keeping his ankle stiff.

“What the...” fWhip choked out as Scott's whole body weight crashed into him. “Scott?”

“What did he want?” Scott asked, face hidden in fWhip's shirt. He didn't dare ask if fWhip agreed. He obviously did if Scott was here.

“Nothing too terrible, don't worry about it,” fWhip sighed, and to Scott's shock patted his head.

At that Scott couldn't help but cry. Damn, fWhip was so nice even when he was a massive ass to him. Pushing all his buttons just for fun.

“Cone on Scott stop crying,” fWhip sighed. “Let's sit down, my legs hurt.”

“Kiss me then, you wouldn't agree to whatever he wanted if it wasn't for me, yes? Then kiss me,” Scott demanded pulling back to look fWhip in the eyes. “Stop thinking and just go with your feelings, you coward!” He yelled, grabbing fistfuls of fWhip's blazer. 

He was about to yell more but suddenly his back hit the door and lips met his and he all but melted into fWhip. Grinning in satisfaction into the kiss. Arms wrapped around the lawyer's shoulders and held tightly to not let him escape. Not again. Not ever.

He was so lost in the kiss he missed when they got to fWhip's bedroom until fWhip chuckled. “Come on, we have to get our shirts off somehow, no?” he asked, sitting back as Scott tentatively let go. 

It was quite a sight to see fWhip undress.

Scott woke up nicely rested and in a bit of pain. Cuddled up to fWhip's bare chest. The lawyer was still asleep though the electric clock on the nightstand was telling Scott it'd be short-lived. 

What a shame Scott thought. Just five more minutes before it blares and fWhip had to go and do what Xor asked of him to get Scott back. 

“Someone's satisfied,” fWhip yawned but didn't move. “I still have a few more minutes in bed,” he mumbled between more yawns. It was seriously cute.

“About three more,” Scott hummed. “Enough for some morning kisses wouldn't you agree?” He asked with his cutest smile.

It seemed to finally work as fWhip finally gave in without any begging or screaming and just kissed him. Over and over again. With one, long last kiss as he blindly slapped looking to turn off the clock.

“Should I order sushi for dinner,” Scott asked, still lounging in bed as fWhip quickly pulled on a suit. Scott was just slightly jealous other people could see fWhip's ass in a suit. It was quite the view.

And then there was the other reason to hate this Halloween in particular.

“It’s curious that my old friend Xing chose to visit this Halloween, of all times,” Dumbledore told Severus privately, a month previous.

“No doubt he’s curious about the Boy-Who-Lived, like the rest of the idiot public,” Severus sneered.

“If it was anyone else, I might believe that. But he was never impressed by our troubles or interested in Harry. Or how he survived the Killing Curse. The Five Nations apparently have ways around it already. I’ve never been able to determine what.”

The practices of the cultivators—what the West incorrectly bundled under the infuriatingly inaccurate title “Battle Mages”—were a well-guarded mystery. They allegedly included immortality among them. Voldemort had sent several emissaries to the Yiling Patriarch in the hopes of stealing that infamous Dark Lord’s secrets. None of those well-bred, pure-blood emissaries had ever returned. In Severus’s opinion, this was no loss to the wizarding world.

He’d spent enough time wandering through the torturous paths of Dumbledore’s thinking, unfortunately, to know what the Headmaster was obliquely driving at. “The Yiling Patriarch would hardly reject all of the Dark Lord’s messengers and then decide to avenge him ten years later. There is no— no fraternity of Dark Lords.”

“The Yiling Patriarch is not the only one of the Seven Immortals,” Dumbledore reminded him gravely. “Simply the most powerful.”

By which Severus was meant to understand that the Light-bearing Lord, the greatest Light Lord history had ever known, might have some interest in the Potter spawn. Why? Was Dumbledore imagining his blasted prophecy child might be a threat to the Yiling Patriarch? The narrative of the six Immortals battling that great Dark Lord through millenia was, Severus knew through his correspondence with Five Nations compatriots, a story created and popularized by Western wizards who had Opinions about how magical alignment should behave. If he read between the lines correctly—and he was fairly certain he had—the eternal war between the Light-Bearing Lord and Yiling Patriarch involved more wrestling between bedsheets than spellfire exchanged across battlefields.

As we begin There Are No Words Adequate For This Day, Harry Potter is relieved to hear that news of members of the Five Nations visiting on Halloween overshadows his own notoriety. Halloween has meaning to more than one person at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - this particular Halloween is Harry's first at Hogwarts, and events take a wide detour from the events of the first book in the series.

True, Hermione has run off and is not at the banquet. Also true, there are three members of the Immortal Five Nations attending, including the ICW ambassador from the Five Nations and a younger member who "dabbles" in Potions and is currently a lecturer and post-doctoral student at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst by the name of Lan Yuan.

After a dark hole with "[t]hick, dangerous looking arms of black and burning red smoke" opens up in the dining hall, there is a fight against resentful not-lynx (ineffective on the part of the faculty, very effective from the "Battle Mages" who also appeared). And then, well, I'll leave you to enjoy the results, which are excellent.

Did I mention that Professor Quirrell arrives shouting something about a Troll?

The time-travel fixit comes into play because, well, those travelers who arrive through that dark hole are from the past. Follow-ups are explained in author's notes at the end of chapter 2.

Author pagination has read and enjoyed Author sami's ridiculous future bullshit series (reviewed here) and borrowed the Five Nations from that series. There are two other crossover stories in the series of tales by the author (Harry Potter x Final Fantasy VII, and Harry Potter x My Hero Academia).
