He's despicable, I'll take 12.
[Work-In-Progress]
Please feel free to drop your favorite toxic positivity slogans in the notes!
I want to write at least one such quote on this image. The top contender right now is "We all have the same 24 hours in a day!"
Also valid examples: "Nothing's impossible!", "Anyone can do it!", and "Pull yourself up by the bootstraps!" - or maybe just "Self-made :)"

ty! \(^_^)/ feelin good so ill try answer in detail for ya!!!!
most of the time i just do basic cell shading. here ill explain my rendering process after i choose my base colours, ill try keep it short & sweet!! nvm warning buckle up its really super long.
flat colours -> fully shaded!!
⭐️Picking shading colours!
usually it's just the base colour with +saturation OR a hue shift! i dont really lower brightness.
This is what i mean by HSB, i never use the colour wheel i prefer the sliders!!!
i like my art to look super colourful so i do things like shading pink with blue instead of with a darker pink or red, as shown in the above callie piece.
examples ft lumity:
skin: i always keep it very simple & cartoony! over the nose, below the eyes, the neck & sometimes the tips of the ears is where i'll put shading
hair: as u can See, it's not darker than the base colour at all!! for dark hair like luz's, i brighten & saturate the colour, and for light hair like amity's i just shift the hue a little!
⭐️more kewl tips:
colourpick from yourself!!!! instead of making a new colour for everything, try using a colour u already have down!!!! like below: by limiting my colour palette, it looks more harmonious
really messy image but i hope u get what i mean. also the "off white / black" thing is a separate choosing base colours thing!! i can expand on that if anyone's interested 😙
shove halftones in wherever they fit. here are the 2 pngs i use!! there a rlly good alt to gradients, i used a LOT of them in that callie piece!!! clipping mask over where u want it & alpha lock to change colour.
⭐️here's a WHERE i put the shading:
look st the environment ur guy is in!! pick where your light source is coming from & look where that light will hit and where it is blocked by something.
bounce light: the sun's light is also shining on the grass! so powerful the green reflects right back!
this is kinda more realistic lighting now.
i kinda just put a circle wherever theres a corner!
and i put that Beautiful Shape a lot wherever. i change it a little depending on the character, sometimes its triangular or squarey but thats the base shape! i dont even know what its called but i love it.
look at this hello weird shape guy!!!
actually, my grandfest art are probably some of the most detailed art i have! u can see urself where i put shading & stuff - they do have more desaturated colour palettes though:
& here are some additional examples ^_^ flat colour -> shaded -> multiply layer -> lighting
in this one u can see the hand & leg at the back are completely in shadow too :)
anyway i think that's kinda it? i dont really know how to explain it, i just do what feels & looks right to me??? remember that im Not an expert & this is just how i do things :)
i will always repeat my no1 tips tho: keep drawing!!! and copy ur fave artists!!!!!! it really will hell u find what u like!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hope this post helps a little & answers ur question😇 never be shy to ask me anything cuz i love answering & chattin w u guys!!!!
EDIT: just saying these arent set rules or anything!!!! u can see just how many times i Dont follow my own advice LOL. my artstyle is super inconsistent, i rarely draw things the same every time

🖤Breaking baddie🖤: Describing your 'dark feminine' energy. How to channel it?
Hola malacitas 😘 (i hope that actually made sense lol).
First things first, what is "dark feminine" energy?
Yes, this is the **first website that comes up when you google "dark feminine," but it is pretty thorough and comprehensive! I liked it the most out of all the others. The others either repeated the same points or had too many outdated/black-or-white views. Feel free to do your own research however. There are plenty of videos on YouTube as well. **One caveat...when you get to the part about tapping into DF energy, I disagree with #8 (specifically).
(We're going to keep this post light and I'll dedicate a separate post to my personal viewpoints.)
So I will be telling you all about your personal DF "archetype." I will also provide guidance on how you channel your DF energy.
I am so so excited for this! Eek 🙊 Okay, options below, left to right. I hope it resonates!
I am using a few different decks. I won't be adding pictures but I will provide what cards I drew.
Pile 1
Off the bat: I am hearing "no fuss" and also "ruthless," which is interesting considering the image you chose. I was also hearing the lyrics "all I do is win, win, win no matter what." So I'm getting some really bad ass energy right away! Come thru mob girlies!
4-Card Spread: 4 of Diamonds, 8 of Diamonds, 7 of Hearts, Joker. Bottom of deck is 6 of Clubs.
It's funny you have the 6 of Clubs (wands) on the bottom of the deck. I was hearing those lyrics about winning. This is a card that signifies victory and public recognition or celebration. I feel like the DF side of you is really bad ass! I'm also getting a pinch of "lover girl" energy. Its kind of like you have perfect formula sugar+sheist+everything nice! lol
This energy isn't afraid to be in the spotlight but is also quite comfortable in the shadows. You may be (or this is what other people think) the type to use underhanded to get ahead. Its not personal but you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm also getting an energy of it is easy for people (I'm hearing "dudes" so maybe some of you talk like that) to get attached and feel led on. But I think you are married to the hustle.
Some of you may not regularly reside in this energy and could be put off by the description. But that is exactly why its dark feminine energy. It pokes and antagonizes the status quo, which is where most of us reside from day to day. Traditionally, feminines are not painted as cunning, street-wise, heartbreakers. Your DF energy pushes back against those constraints placed on feminines that require prioritizing the group over self. Not that anyone asked but I think that's actually kind of amazing.
Of course you don't have to reside in this energy and adopt some toxic alter ego, but there probably are some gems hidden here. People who move like this are usually made, not born. In some way, they learned that survival=competition, so you learn to "stay ready so you don't have to get ready." Your motto as a DF would be "every (wo)man for themselves," making betrayals feel less personal because...well it just isn't, as crazy as that sounds.
Advice: The Devil, Queen of Swords, King of Wands, The Star. Bottom of deck is 7 of Swords + Mute (Oracle)
I'm getting a strong message about speaking up. I am using Tarot de Carlotydes and in this deck the 7 of Swords is depicted as a sword swallower. Which I always interpret as "swallowing" the truth. Then as I was focusing on this group's image, I realized the cabinet behind her is full of skulls, reminding me of "skeletons in the closet." Then finally we have a literal Mute card:
The Mute is told what to hear, say and think and is often suppressed. Sometimes breaking the chains against heeded words may be rewarded.
So you currently may be the complete opposite of your DF energy. One of the keywords for the Mute is "insecurities." I feel like a lot of you are sleeping on yourselves. 🔊AND ITS TIME TO WAKE THE F UP!
Maybe you are trapped in your light feminine energy. I say trapped because it feels like you are forced into that box. Super passive, loss of control. Where your DF energy would insist on speaking up and standing out, you may just keep your head down and avoid any trouble.
I'm hearing specifically that some of you love writing poetry but may have someone who discourages you from pursuing this interest. You may want to present your poetry to an audience and they tell you that no one wants to hear what you have to say. For others, they are saying no one wants to hear from you about something else.
If you are used to toxic and restrictive connections or friendships, you are being called to step out of that. Get used to asserting your boundaries, "do not speak down about my hobbies," "if you cannot allow me to think for myself, then we can not continue our relationship." I think you definitely have it in you.
Another keyword listed is "hope." I think some of you may enjoy singleness and being single-mindedly focused on you and your goals, more fulfilling than you think. It can be healing to finally feel like the star of your show.
TL;DR: Your DF energy definitely has a bit of edge to her. She does what she has to do to move ahead and she prefers to fly solo. Even if that is not where you are right now, this energy already exists within you. Once you drop the dead weight--be it toxic family, toxic friends, or a toxic partner--you will see how quickly you flourish. You have every right to speak your truth and protect your peace. Its time to peel yourself off the wallpaper and start standing out and speaking up!
Pile 2
Off the bat: I wasn't getting anything with this group. I found that strange and wondered if I wasn't "tuned in." I think this represents your mental space when you are in your DF energy. You are clear minded and have a "sober" outlook. Maybe some of you are literally sober or are considering it.
4-Card Spread: 2 of Clubs, Queen of Spades, 8 of Spades (R), Ace of Hearts/7 of diamonds. Bottom of deck is 9 of diamonds.
I am very strongly getting that there is something noteworthy about your DF's decision making abilities. Maybe that sounds "boring," but its actually pretty admirable! The world often sends the message that feminine energy does not possess strong cognitive abilities. When feminines contradict this stereotype, they can be labeled as "cold," "mean," "masculine," or met with hostility.
I'm honestly getting that the DF in you does not care. You may naturally lean more to this side in every day life. Or this is where you could be if you tapped into your DF energy more often.
You make clear decisions and keep it moving. You do not allow your thoughts to keep you tangled up in a web of confusion and indecision. Some of you could be really good at chess. I am getting that kind of energy. Calculated, self-assured, and making decisions with no intentions of taking it back.
You are quite comfortable standing on your own, and pouring into your own little world. I get the image of a woman who lives on a quiet estate, walking through her garden, with birds chirping and flying above. Have any of you watched the movie Men (2022)? I loved the imagery in that film and that's kind of the vibe I am getting now. A lot of horse girlies may have picked this pile.
I feel you being very unbothered, above drama. Your DF energy would love to find a masculine that can match your energy. You are good on your own so you won't allow anyone disruptive into your peaceful little domain. You do not make impulsive decisions in love and you are willing to wait for a new opportunity that is worth the investment. With the king of diamonds two cards under the 9 of diamonds, I do feel like this DF energy could pull the kind of masculine you desire.
Your DF energy really shines in STEM related jobs, corporate spaces, or any position that requires a sharp mind.
Advice: Ace of Swords, 10 of Swords, 4 of Wands, Knight of Cups. Bottom of deck is 10 of Wands + Spider (Oracle)
As soon as I pulled the ace of swords, I heard "get used to speaking your truth." I also heard stop entertaining "little boys." I don't think this is in terms of age, I think this referring to the maturity level of masculine energies you may usually deal with. I am in no way encouraging that you pursue anyone older. (Honestly, that does not guarantee emotional maturity or respect. But that's another convo).
I think this message is about the expectations you set for your partners. There is nothing wrong with expecting them to match you. They can either rise to the occasion or be left behind. If you hold this potential inside of you to be a queen of swords, queen of pentacles, and 9 of pentacles. Then I'm sure that energy exists out there in a suitable counterpart. The ten of wands is encouraging you to keep forging forward. I don't like preaching to be "strong" and "endure," but this is different. You are being strong for yourself. If you have to walk alone right now, it gets tough at times, but you are doing it with purpose. It will pay off.
For some this may literally require you to live alone. Its interesting that I keep getting messages about homes. I got a lot of diamonds/pentacles in the last spread, which also can deal with the home and related practical matters. "Home" is one of the keywords for Spider. The Moon is on the bottom of the deck, I think it is also relevant. This is what the guidebook has to say about each:
The Spider traps those who wander into her web. Keywords: Control, Home, Familiarity, Comfort, Trapped, Security. The Moon is not always as she seems. Her delicate glow seeks for hidden truths while blinding others to her own. Keywords: Confusion, Apprehension, Suspicion, Feelings.
You may need to be more discerning when it comes to who you let into your home and/or your heart. You might need to create a little confusion when it comes to what your next move is. Everyone does not deserve your energy or to be held on to.
Spiders can also be associated with anxiety. In regular tarot, I do consider the moon to be a card that can speak about mental health. So some of you may need to make these changes for your own sanity, literally.
TL;DR: Your DF energy is a very strong and self-sufficient queen of swords type. She thinks clearly, can make decisions without questioning herself, and always stands on business. She has high standards for those who come around her because she has built a beautiful life for herself and will vet anyone who wants to join. This self-respect and authenticity helps to attract a suitable mate. One who can match this go-getter, no bs energy. The key to channeling this energy is to start living in it now. Trust your decision making abilities, don't announce or seek validation before you make a necessary personal decision. Staying true to yourself and becoming more independent will pay off.
Pile 3
Off the bat: When I looked at the image for your pile, I immediately heard "I'm not one of those/your little girls." So whew! We are coming in hot! Also hearing "I wish a b---- would."
4-Card Spread: 7 of Hearts, Jack of Clubs, 2 of Clubs, Joker. Bottom of deck is 5 of Hearts.
I am getting more light-hearted energy in this pile than the previous two. Maybe a lot of young, or young-at-heart, people have chosen this pile. This DF energy could easily pull many suitors but she views lovers as more of a "fun time," not so much a "long time." You could also be a little toxic toward lovers. Makeup to breakup, or honestly sometimes its just breakup lol.
This energy is quite fiery and uninhibited. Some of you could be fire signs, specifically Sagittarius. Or I am getting that because of what Sag represents: free spiritedness, adventure, luck. No wonder this DF energy resists being tied down. The world is literally your oyster and you knows it!
This DF energy is also a little scrappy. Have any of you watched the Bad Girls Club? You know how there would be that one person who has a temper, then gets a little too messed up when they go clubbing and ends up wanting to fight everyone... When you see red, people need to clear your path! I do get a bit of a party girl energy which is not surprising considering I was picking up on Sag.
This DF does not have a problem fulfilling her emotional needs. You will always make sure your cup is full. You will always make sure you are having a good time. You realizes that you have this amazing, fortunate energy and unapologetically harnesses it to get the most out of life. I think your DF self is also likely to be single and happy that way. Picking yourself up after disappointments in love is no problem because there are plenty more where they came from. You have an abundant mindset when it comes to love and life.
Advice: Queen of Wands, The Hanged Man, Ace of Swords, 5 of Cups. Bottom of deck is 5 of Swords + Ghost (Oracle)
In order to channel this DF energy, some of you may literally have to ghost someone. I am not surprised the energy of having to cut people off has been coming up. Sometimes the company we keep can really hinder our growth and self-expression. The hanged man is about surrender and next to the ace of swords, I sometimes see this combo as maintaining no contact. Ghost could also be taken literally.
But I think Ghost is also talking about a tendency toward self sabotaging and shrinking yourself. This is the total opposite of the DF energy that I just channeled. Its like the past and your insecurities have a tendency to haunt you and keep you stuck. You may also try to make yourself invisible. In the guidebook, the word forgotten repeats itself twice for this card:
The Ghost lingers, forlorn and forgotten. Keywords: Hidden, Mystery, Forgotten, Spiritual Matters, Fears, Faith
You will need to work on your self-confidence. When you are more confident in yourself, you will be more confident in your decision making abilities. You will be more authentic with the way you present yourself to the world because it won't matter whether people approve or disapprove. You know who you are. With the 5 of cups, there could be something that you are still grieving or regretting but you can bounce back from this! Channel your inner phoenix and allow yourself to blossom. Its time to reinvent yourself!
Be open to all the great things life has to offer you. Guided meditations for gratitude and self-confidence/self-love could be very beneficial. Trust that the flow of life is always leading you to something wonderful. Trust that you are allowed to call the shots in your reality. Do your part then trust and let go.
TL;DR: Your DF energy is very spicy! She is popular and free-spirited. She knows that life has so many different adventures to offer and she does not let anything stop her from exploring them. This DF is likely to be single or somewhat noncommittal. She does not mind flying solo and knows she can always find another mate. She is also quite lucky and manifests fortunate events with ease. To channel this energy you will need to drop any dead weight and increase your confidence in yourself and your decision making abilities. You could benefit from some form of self-help resources like books and guided meditations. And if it is accessible to you, therapy, support groups, or other resources that will help your create a stronger you.
Pile 4
Off the bat: I am getting a pretty serious energy. Some domme energy or you could just be a pretty dominant woman. This could be describing you or your DF energy. I keep hearing strawberries and champagne. Is that even a real thing? I've never met anyone who enjoyed that combo.
4-Card Spread: 4 of Clubs, Jack of Diamonds, Ace of Hearts, and Ace of Spades. Bottom of deck is Queen of Spades
I am still getting some of that super assertive and stern feminine energy. I could see your DF self working being a principal. I am also hearing headmaster/headmistress. I think she would love working with children but not in the traditional, mushy-gushy light feminine way. Its more of a "I have/enforce rules because I love you" type of energy . You believe in structure and order. If this isn't working with children, this could also apply to raising children. I could also see this DF running an orphanage. I did hear "rule the roost" while I was shuffling, so no matter how this resonates, you definitely are not afraid to lead.
You are generous and wise. Beneath the stern exterior is a lot of love and compassion. Your soft spots are not visible until you take a closer look at what you invest your time and energy into. This kind of energy could also attract less mature suitors, because it intimidates them yet they are so infatuated. You carry yourself with grace and probably won't entertain them. You are much more suited to be their mentor than anything.
Going back to the original domme energy I was getting. You may actually prefer partnerships that allow you to wear the pants. You don't really want a masculine energy coming in and dictating to you. You can run your own life just fine and would rather partner up with someone who can understand that. I don't think you want someone that is "weak" either, its more like you desire the cliche of the masculine that calls the shots in the board room but is more submissive/passive at home. They are secure enough to be with a feminine energy as strong as them.
Some of you as DF would be comfortable living a "nontraditional" life. Nontraditional as far as feminine energy is concerned anyway. You may prefer live-in partners, or life partners, over traditional marriage. You could identify with being poly or something similar. You would love to travel and always seek to broaden your horizons. This is the type of person you would expect to have "summer homes." You could also decide to not have children or you would want to wait on having/adopting children. You love living authentically because of how freeing it is to just be you. You don't care what outsiders think of your life because you know you are doing what works best for you.
Advice: 3 of Swords, 5 of Pentacles, 9 of Swords, Queen of Wands (R). Bottom of deck is The Devil + Soil (Oracle)
To channel this DF energy more, you will need to master the art of not giving a shit. Some of you could be currently suppressing this energy. I really don't think its that far out of reach for all of you. Its just your fear that is keeping you trapped.
For some of you this trapped feeling is because you are in the closet. I am not telling you to come out because I don't know how that would impact your life. I want you to stay safe! However, maybe you can seek out queer friendly spaces. Or spaces that are supportive of whatever group you identify with.
There could also be a heartbreak that has left you questioning yourself. In the Tarot de Carlotydes, the 9 of swords is depicted as a woman chained in a dark room, with a flower in her hand and broken heart drawn on a piece of paper. I always see this card as being tortured over a disappointment. In this particular deck, I see as a mental prison that you feel trapped in because you are clinging to and rehashing an event. Holding onto this event keeps the pain fresh or recurring. It is time to release it.
Do not internalize other people's actions and shortcomings. It is not a reflection of you. You are who you decide to be. Do not dim your shine for anyone. Do not stunt your growth either. I'm not sure what it is that is holding you back but you have the potential to be the brightest star! You can be strong, and confident, and assertive. There is this little ball of power inside of you, that can grow if you allow it. Soil echoes the same message I am seeing in tarot. You must let yourself bloom:
The soil is a conduit of both growth and decay. Eyes forward, rooted to the past and reaching to the skies, she'll grow. Keywords: Balance, Forward, Growth, Duty, Building.
Some of you may use less than healthy tactics to cope. Maybe you should think of yourself like a plant. What are you fertilizing your soil with? What are you using for watering? Put the best in, get the best out.
TL;DR: Your DF energy is a L-E-A-D-E-R, okay?! She calls the shots in every area of her life. Some suitors are attracted to her because their immaturity is infatuated with her self-assured, mature energy. However, she prefers an equally strong partner at her side but this does not mean she wants to be led. No, she wants someone that respects her as an equal but allows her to take the lead. She lives life on her terms, loves on her terms, and does not care what anyone else thinks of that. She does have a soft spot but that is not for everyone. This nurturing energy could be channeled into working with children in some capacity. In order to step into this energy, you will have to untether yourself from insecurity and heartbreak. You already have this power inside of you, its only a matter of letting it grow. You don't have to deny what you have been through or the way it impacts you, but it also does not have to hold you back. Replace your unhealthy coping mechanisms with healthy ones.
As previously stated, I have a planned post that will expand on my views about feminine energy and other spiritual topics. I am really looking forward to sharing my thoughts and hope you all will chime in! I would love to start a discussion.
Until then ❤

What's your method?
It's actually very image-focused, since that tends to be more interesting to me. Three main methods:
I see a post featuring a weird object and reblog it. Hopefully I can come up with an in-game effect for it to have, but sometimes if it's a cool enough object I'll just share it without.
I think to myself "I should probably post more" and google "weird weapon" or "ugly hat" or "magic jewelry" or something until I find something worth sharing. Again, I try to come up with a reason why it would be interesting to have in your game, but after so many posts I'd rather not repeat myself (there's like four different "sword that deals poison damage" posts but they're all cool swords)
Browse lists of canon items and think of cool modifications (rare) or stupid puns (common). This method has run a bit dry since I've been running this blog since 2017 and there's only so many items you can make a decent pun off.

On Repeat - an oc tag by @elderwisp
"rules are pretty simple, pick as many (or as little) oc's as you'd like and find a song that you relate to them the most! feel free to mention why too! o and tag some more ppl too! that would be cool!"
I may have gone a little overboard 😅 To be honest this tag came around at just the right time! I'd just gotten a new song association and have been working on schoolwork so much that I really needed to do something creative 😆
Originally these were all going to be in similar editing styles (more like Corey's) but somewhere along the way that stopped because I had different ideas that I really wanted to do. Also I cheated a little and a few got more than one song... 🤫
I'm really proud with all of these in the end, and if you want to read more about the stories behind them you can check below the cut! ❤️
I know I'm pretty late to the party now buuut I'll tag: @igglemouse @swiftviolets @stargazer-sims @auspexsims and @seniorpollinationtechnician. Feel free to ignore though if you've already done it/don't want to! 😁
[deep dive under cut!]
COREY ALTMAN
"Holiday" - Green Day:
This song being here is random song association at its finest. The trail pretty much goes "Holiday" by Green Day > Surf's Up > Beach Vibes > Sulani > Globetrotter Challenge > Corey Song. If that makes sense... 😂 Pretty much, you can blame the Sulani round of the Globetrotter Challenge for it, plus the fact that I feel like it's the type of song/genre Corey would use in his own music.
"Catch Me If You Can" - Set It Off:
Now, it would be a crime to talk about songs and Corey without a song by Set It Off. Corey was created when I was listening to their songs a lot, and it definitely rubbed off on him. From his aesthetic to the songs I imagine him playing, a lot of it came from Set It Off. Even his name was derived from the band's lead singer (although changed from Cody to Corey because that's the route my mind took with it idk). So, this song in particular specifically reminds me of Corey for... Honestly probably obvious reasons 😆 "Catch Me If You Can" was pretty much the theme of his Globetrotter Challenge, where he was constantly moving on the run from the law. A line I really like though for him is the part that says, "I only feel at home when I'm on the run," because I feel like that leads into the deeper aspects of Corey. He really isn't at home anywhere, he's always on the move, even when he's not evading capture anymore. There's a certain non-permanence to everything he does. Something funny about the image itself is that it originally wasn't going to be edited to look like the back cover of a CD. When I took the picture of Corey with the guitar I kind of thought "this looks like the back cover of a CD" and when editing I just needed a way to fill the space at the bottom and it turned into a CD back cover edit 🤣 It actually kind of fits though since both of these songs are the sound I associate with Corey's own music so it worked out in the end.
LIZZY ALTMAN
"Unopened Windows" - Set It Off:
So this one is the context behind this post lol. It's been like two years since I started working on this plotline I have to finish it eventually 😆 Anyway, Lizzy's been teased in many tag games so far, but without a name or much information (note: and this name's not final I'm not sure yet). Here you can probably guess based on the song choice how her story goes 😅 Going back to the epilogue of the Globetrotter Challenge, we see that something is going on, and it leads to Lizzy and her dad being separated. So, the entire song lyrically I really felt spoke to them and their situation (more in a future gameplay 😉). Bonus points for it being a Set It Off song, who I associate with Corey, and thought music could have been something that they bonded over and enjoyed together. I have a few things to say about the image itself because it was a struggle but I looooove how it turned out! It turned out essentially how I imagined it with Lizzy playing guitar in the foreground with a sort of memory of her time with her dad in the background. I probably had about five or six different poses that I put in the background because I couldn't decide which one I liked the best 😆 This was the last image I had to work on out of the four, and I was having trouble with how I wanted the song title to look. While I was browsing for overlays and stuff I came across a lot of cutout style poems and ended up adding in some of the lyrics because I thought it would help explain the concept behind the image. In the end this one is one of my favorites which is unbelievable considering how much I thought it was not going to turn out like I imagined 🥰
*UNNAMED*
(Sorry I don't have a name for her yet and don't want to commit to a temporary one 😭)
"Little Chaos" - Orla Gartland:
In a wonderfully serendipitous coincidence, this was the song association I was very into when getting tagged, and was already planning what became this edit! I rarely have song associations for sims/sims stories (despite how many ended up coming together here) so that's why I'll never get over how well timed this all was (thanks again elderwisp!!) On to the song, it has to do with my upcoming gameplay story centered around the For Rent game pack, and starring the pictured sim (who doesn't have a name yet sorry! 😅). She's going through a bit of a tough time where she's very lost and I thought the lines, "And it's a good day for a meltdown. All my thoughts getting too loud," fit really where she's at, especially at the start. Plus, the vibes are perfect. The image itself was inspired by the song's MV and one part in particular, but it looks a lot different now (I was limited by the poses I could find because I refuse to sit down and learn to make my own yet). I liked this idea of the torn pages framing the image, especially because it plays into the plot, which sees the main character do a lot of journaling throughout the story. So, the lined paper had to do with that, and it doubled as being good for making the letters stand out, which I wanted to be big and misaligned to be more "chaotic," though I think that could have been done more/better. Aaaaand the background is a picture of Tomarang, where the story takes place. To be honest this will probably be the cover image once I finalize a name and get started on playing it 😉
GHOST COWBOY
(no he also doesn't have a name yet same as above 😆)
"Ferryman" - Schafer James and Will Wood:
I've actually been having a lot of fun with this character since initially creating him back before the Horse Ranch pack came out (more on him coming out in a few days for the outlaw challenge 😉). So this song.... The entire concept of our ghost cowboy is that he, being somewhat half dead and half alive, winds up being a good source of convincing "unwilling souls" to cross over, and works with the character Death to do so in exchange for finding out why he's not entirely dead. I'll explain it better another time, but I also really love this song and just thought that the concept of the ferryman and the ghost cowboy as ferriers of the dead.
"Toss A Coin To Your Witcher (Epic Version)" - Samuel Kim and Black Gryph0n:
Liiiiisten... My family made me watch three seasons of The Witcher I had to get something out of it 😆 I joke a lot that this character gives off Geralt vibes but honestly they are definitely super similar just based on their overall aesthetic and horse companions. I wanted to be special though and chose this epic cover instead of the original... Just for fun 😁 There were some cool piano covers too that almost made the cut. This is probably a good place to talk about the actual image (yay!). I hope the visibility on it isn't too bad because it ended up waaaay more cluttered than I originally intended, plus the mist effect definitely makes it harder to see the characters. I made his (also unnamed) horse a little more transparent to try and give off this ghostly see through effect so I hope that comes through. The font isn't the kind of "wild west wanted sign" font that I wanted, but I think it's close enough lol.

So this blocking thing! It's good for more than just nuisances. I haven't knit a lot of garments yet with fiber that responds to blocking, and what I have has been like...socks where it seems unnecessary because the whole thing will be in tension while worn. But also I just don't have large pinnable surfaces, as one typically needs when the point is to soak a piece of fabric and then stretch it out to pose in the shape you want it to be until next soaking. What do I have? The ability to stack waterproof objects on a small patch of flat counter space. And thank goodness because that definitely saved this hat.
Anyway! I am happy to have used my extremely inconsistent first skeins of support-spindled yarn (see the post with them all laid out here) for a project I'll probably actually use once it's chilly again. It is comfortable, even if I'm a bit disappointed in the colorwork legibility. This is how the chart looks:
But I didn't quite manage matching gauge yarns, I'm low on practice/experience keeping tension for stranded colorwork, and probably just aiming for too loose a fabric anyway (should've found a path to increasing stitches and using smaller needles on that section) so it's very blobby.
I do have some of that green and "matching" oyster skein left, as well as a little of the finest oyster yarn I used for the ribbing. So if I use them together again, I'll probably hold the two oyster threads as one. Speaking of, I had way too much of the underplied lace yarn and wasn't happy with my first run at an even more open lace panel, so ended up frogging that back and making these sections with the lace yarn held double. Worth it! Much happier with this result. And I can see why underplied yarn has been said to do lace well; was cool how open it already was before blocking.
Image descriptions below:
[ID: Four photos of a slouchy, off-white beanie with some green colorwork being knit, blocked, and worn. The hat is constructed with a solid top of thicker yarn, strip of lace, a strip of green colorwork (meant to be jumping frogs), a matching strip of lace, and finally a long section of ribbing, broken into four strips by inverting the knits and purls.
In the first photo, with a blurred background, the beanie is still in process with a green string holding the live stitches while it's tried on, partway through the first section of ribbed brim; it fits like a misshapen mushroom, the top lace panel collapsing over the relatively tight colorwork, all under the lumpy increases of the densely knit crown.
The second photo also has a blurred background but shows the hat being blocked, gently stretched over a tower of stacked containers, widest at the top around the curved base of an upside down plastic coffee canister from crown to colorwork, the gradual taper of a hair bleach tub easing the lower lace panel into the ribbing before the very end hangs free around a peanut butter jar pedestal.
The third and fourth photos show the finished hat from the side and front, being worn by a pale-skinned brunette woman with a braid and orange t-shirt in front of painted wood paneling on an overcast day. The hat is slouched but not bulbous, blocking having stretched the colorwork horizontally and the lace vertically; a twice-rolled brim covers the lower lace panel but leaves the still not very legible frog colorwork visible. End ID]
[ID: Chart of green on white colorwork made in the Google Sheets spreadsheet software; a section in the middle is selected, though there are repeated motifs on either side. Every cell with an X in it is colored green and makes slightly horizontally stretched pixel art of a frog hopping from the right to the left; the rightmost frog is crouched under a flower or star made of four dots, to its left is a frog pushing off the ground and to its left a frog leaping horizontally through the air. The repeat is 39 stitches wide, 10 rows tall. End ID]
#cj gladback#knitting#spinning#fashion#sure#took those quick finished photos yesterday just barely out of the rain so no pretty fall leaves to look more cheery#but i wanted to celebrate that the hat fit while i was still excited about the blocking actually working as advertised#not sure who advertised it but no buyers' remorse here

Yakuza Fiance ep 6 Manga Comparison
We are halfway through the anime folks. As always under the cut I have everything the anime missed out on from the manga. The scans are fantranslated cause I'm lazy.
First thing the convo between Tsubaki and Yoshino is framed in the manga as a flashback.
The convo is mostly the same but once more details are missed such as Yoshino determining that Kirishima seeing her then was 6 years ago.
We also loose out on this cute image
Now they then cut to the school where the manga picks up so I'm not sure why they removed the stare thing (I know the anime loves its dramatic stares) maybe for time?
Anyway the convo at school is much the same but if you thought that little stop Yoshino gave during her lecture was weird well the manga has an explaination
Like I don't get why the anime didn't put a text box or something they've done it before, its just kinda odd. (I dunno I honestly forgot about this during my first watch and was like "That was weird" I didn't get the reason for Yoshinos shock maybe thats just me though)
Ok so the scene is again mostly the same but the visuals when Yoshino realizes she's Kirishimas first friend is such a down grade in the anime. She just stands there and the word friend repeats in the background meanwhile the manga gives us this
Like we get this cute little slugger Yoshino, which I gotta assume is a reference to something, then we get a little montage of all the shit she's gone through its just very underwhelming by comparison.
So ok the Nao stuff first of all I wanna say the lighting is like off like its so bright the manga gives the impression of a more softer lit place so it feels more like a high class bar. Its not really a difference but it annoyed me and I am writing this haha.
The convo is much the same again with some small stuff cut, I'd say Naos internal thoughts are much meaner in the manga. They did change placement again though. When the other women bring up Kirishima in the manga Nao goes straight into flashback mode
It gives the impression that she is lost in thought and can't help thinking about him even though she's such a calculated person, this info gets put into the anime but it doesn't offer the same weight but I'll compare once there cause they made.....choices. But also it doesn't feel as abrupt when Kirishima shows up in the manga you get the impression Nao has been sitting silently for a bit. Not the "hey we were literally just talking about you" vibe the anime has.
So they put the flashbacks in when Nao is in the bathroom scene and they are framed a bit differently from the panel above (the sex thing is there just on another page so i didn't add it) So like instead of a scene in a bar or club where you assume they mightve talked about him before she approaches we get this
Which is like ummmm I don't actually know if the anime is trying to make a point or not, about the age difference or whatever
So like Nao panics more in the manga (and I really wanna make a post on this at some point so I won't get too in the weeds but) and we learn just how long it's been since she saw Kirishima (we do get him saying it was 3 years in the anime like the manga but honestly ya'll missed out on her panicked thoughts)
So it was three years ago Kirishima is 18 now meaning he was was 14-15 when they met which is why the scene in the anime is interesting. I think they thought rather than having nao say the time frame they thought to visually imply it by having her see him in school uniform which is a choice particularly with the girl she's with. Like we have a college freshman (probably she might be older) openly being like "wow arent those highschool freshmen so hot?" I dunno it's kinda funny.
But yeah anyway the manga gives us more detail into her thoughts and how she thinks about it (also did anyone else think the close up on the kiss was weird and it lingered too much?)
Anyway we get another loss of thoughts
Like nao is constantly thinking like this not sure how she'll come across in the anime honestly.
Anyway again convo is much the same only shortened, with Kirishima directly saying she acted more like a foreigner back then. But also when he leaves she doesn't look at the card in the manga, nor does Ozu show up to give an ominous stare (this adaptation and adding stares I swear to god)
Ok so this is something I mentioned in ep 4 but they took out how Yoshino has been planning a summer trip to Osaka for a while
Like this they also took out which leads into her cute hand binoculars (glad they kept it) and convo on the phone with Kirishima. Its another set up thing they dropped so it feels a little more random and convenient in the anime.
So the start of the trip is overall the same but again we loose some character beats
In the manga it feels like she pulls him before he gets shoved and we get explanation why he's never really been to Osaka and a cute culture clash moment.
Ok so this is weird we get the face but we don't get the context for it. Like this head thing felt so off to me when I first watched again maybe its just me.
That being Yoshino trying to play tour guide for Kisishima all while doing tasks.
We also loose out on the explanation as to why she's buying so much food and Yoshino getting a little nostalgic. These scenes also help to show that the roles have shifted with Yoshino being the knowledgeable one Kirishima has to relay on in a new city. We can kinda get the vibe in the anime but you really feel it in the manga.
I will say the scene at the Takoyaki store is pretty good in the anime giving some actually fun visuals and expressions.
So the scene with Nao and her coworker is longer in the manga the woman keeps complaining about various things and Nao is working overtime with keeping her composure
It actually showcases a lot of her personality with all the mental back talk she does so its a shame it was cut. Like I get it who wants to listen to someone humble bragging like this but it takes away from her character.
We also loose more of Naos thought process as she considers seeing Kirishima again due to this conversation.
Again I will likely do a whole thing just on Nao at some point but the anime skips over all of this and gets right to Ozu talk.
But once the get there ugh we once more loose some set up stuff
Again not having Nao think about Kirishima makes her contacting him seem a little less calculating and we loose the hint that Ozu was trying to contact Nao privately. The rest of the convo goes the same.
So we do loose some cute domestic stuff with Yoshinos arrival in the anime
Showing how she is with the gang members its not a lot but still.
So the room scene is pretty one to one which i am very grateful for its one of my favs. We do miss a small explaination about the keychain though.
No spoilers for anime onlys but be the fact that it feels heavy is important later. I will say the touch of doing a close up on Kirishimas hands as he holds it like he doesn't want to let go was really good.
So the walk is honestly well done in animation and I'm grateful to how they visually show Yoshino struggling to keep pace with the two but we do loose a Yoshino thought thats important.
Its kinda important for the arc as Yoshino tries to better understand Kirishima.
The store scene is very accurate and I love they kept the Shoma trying to sneak to drinks thing but we lost this dumb Shoma face
We then loose an inbetween scene of Nao meeting up with Kirishima before the hotel. It again serves to establish Nao as a character and her thinking.
Honestly this would have been better to end the episode on. Instead we get a very rushed Hotel scene.
And I do mean rushed, the tattoo talk is longer and helps to set a timeline for Kirishima.
Like im having such trouble picking things cause this scene is so much longer
They go into more detail about WHERE exactly they are going tomorrow which is set up. Then before he leaves to shower we get this back and forth where he explains she seems more like herself now.
Which then leads into the seeing the phone screen. It all gives the impression of two people who have history. But the anime is so rushed you can barely tell. I am really hoping for some brevity next ep cause it will have some scenes I really like.

The Sideburns Scheme Post #56
(For reference: The Sideburns Scheme)
Crowley, Good Omens 2, Episode 4, The Hitchhiker, broken
...
Sideburns Check
The above image is slightly brightened.
The sideburns are long. I think the long sideburns are the "human" reading during the minisode as a reversal compared to the present day.
...
Brighter Red Streak Check
With his hat finally off, Crowley has a visible more saturated red streak of hair. I'll go over my theories about that in the Story Commentary.
...
Hairstyle Changes
The sideburns are still long, but now the hat is finally off.
When Crowley faces and addresses Mrs. H, his hair looks more red compared to when he turns around to look at Aziraphale. Then his hair looks darker, and the red in the streak is more subdued.
...
Earthly Objects
(For reference: Earthly Objects)
Crowley opens the case of broken bottles. Only one thumb is shown to touch it, but he has all five digits visible with his right hand to indicate his previous touch. So, my own guess would be that he's aiming to get credit for the touch by having his hand shown in such a way.
Mrs. H. has two questions with, "Broken? All of them?"
That could give them a standard set to start the scene.
Mr. H. has two more questions and Crowley uses her name, "Mrs. H."
While these two are interacting, Aziraphale does have a visible touch with his hat, and there is someone known to be playing the piano, even if they are only shown from behind.
Mrs. H. repeats her name back to Crowley. She touches her own purse and rubs her gloved hands together. She mentions the number, "40". She continues on for a bit before the piano interrupts her swearing.
While she was talking, a Rule of Three was met with three of the girls entering and passing through the ongoing conversation.
Aziraphale takes out a white handkerchief when offering to help Crowley.
...
For paying attention to the pockets...
In my attempts to figure out anything, I noticed two cuts where there's a black top hat on a table on the stage behind Mrs. H. with what's probably a stuffed rabbit. Presumably, it has something to do with the magician. In the other cuts, the hat and stuffed rabbit are not there.
The girls who pass through, specifically pass through between Aziraphale and Crowley, which draws attention to them being on their "correct" sides for most of the scene.
...
(For reference: The Rainbow Connection Part 4: The Door Trick and The Door Catch)
I said this minisode had clues for The Door Catch, so let's look for clues about The Door Catch.
One of the most important elements in The Door Catch is that somehow, some way, the shadows of the green leaves on the back of Aziraphale's coat are allowed to be the Green of the maintained Rainbow Connection.
While neither Aziraphale nor Crowley sit during this scene, the piano player is visually pocketed between them, and that piano player has her back to us, the viewer.
A really tricky and difficult mechanic in the Rainbow Connection is from non-rainbow-colored shades: black, white, brown, and gray.
I think there is a findable poem that goes:
Black blocks.
Brown borrows.
Gray shades.
White keeps.
The "gray" is spelled as "grey" in the official subtitles, so I'm just using the spelling I'm more familiar with.
When I was drafting this part into the relevant post, it occurred to me check that this minisode might have a clue for each one. The clue for "gray" is the most obvious one, later, but I wanted to see if others could be found.
Black and white together seem to do something like a trap.
The piano player is wearing all black with, presumably, a black dress and black shoes. I'm mainly noticing it's a match for white because this scene initiates the clue for White.
Aziraphale pulls out a white handkerchief and waves it around. This handkerchief will be used again later during the actual Bullet Catch act.
...
Story Commentary
Who broke the bottles? Was it the Metatron messing with the story because he's got something against whiskey? Or was it Aziraphale's wishful thinking so he could have an excuse to help out Crowley? Or is it just part of the written story from one or both of them with the clues within the games?
Well, my guess would be the last one of those since it matches with my overall theory, but the other theories are good too.
Now about that more saturated red streak of hair...
One of the theories I have on it, here, is that this 1941 minisode is experiencing something like a "bleed-through" effect from the present day. It's closer in time than the other minisodes. So, the streak is there as part of this "bleed-through" effect. Season 1 established that Adam could retroactively change reality. Someone or something could be doing that in this story.
Another theory is that the streak is there because of either Crowley performing his miracle for the bomb, the books, or both, or Aziraphale performing his "real miracle" to make sure he and Crowley survive the bomb.
I had a present day theory that the streak is an after-effect of a Big Miracle that Crowley performed, but things don't quite match up with that theory because of various parts in the story where it disappears and my not finding any good guidance or reason for why it would disappear since I don't know how many drafts the story has and how it fits.
Plus, there are clues the streak is actually a result of the lightning...somehow. That doesn't fit either, but I'm generally suspicious of the camera work when Crowley first shoots the lightning out.
Mrs. H. has dealt with Crowley and makes no comment on that streak, but humans generally don't comment on Crowley's appearance as it is. If she does actually see it, and has seen it, then that would put the "bleed-through" effect as the more likely theory.
So, those are just ideas I'm throwing around. I'm more uncertain on them compared to stuff like the Threshold Tricks, the supernatural zone made with help from the sideburns, and the connection Aziraphale and Crowley make through borrowing each other's homes.
...
That's it for this post. Sometimes I edit my posts, FYI.

So Tragic and Rare
January (pt. 10)
previous part 🧡 next part masterlist
Entertainment Weekly Magazine
What would you do if your carefully curated good-girl image was suddenly smeared? Would you go into hiding? Would you completely reinvent yourself? Would you come back, teeth-bared, and declare "if you think I'm a villain, I'll be one"? If you are pop princess turned punk rockstar Keely Halloran, the answer is all of the above. Riding the critical acclaim of her new album 'VINDICTIVE', one of our editors caught up with the rockstar in her Boston home to talk about vengeance, missteps, and all of the complicated feelings that have defined her past year.
Rebecca Coy, Entertainment Weekly: I am sure that you have been bombarded with questions about your reinvention, your personal life, and your new album. But before we get into any of that, I just want to ask how you're doing. Keely Halloran: I'm doing really well, thank you so much for asking. It's been a wild year but I think it was all necessary to go through to get to where I am today.
That in of itself is a powerful statement but I'm sure it's shocking for a lot of our readers. You're saying that you wouldn't change anything about the last year? Yeah. I know that seems insane because obviously no one wants to be painted as a villain for simply speaking the truth and basically be forced into hiding because of the immense backlash. But if none of that happened, I wouldn't have found myself, I probably wouldn't have collaborated with the amazing artists that I have, and my album wouldn't exist.
I've listened to VINDICTIVE - it's been on repeat since it came out - and it sounds like it was very cathartic to make. It was.
How did it all start? It definitely started after my collab with Post Malone. I mentioned it when I announced my version "Die 4 Me" but working with him really made me fall in love with making music again. And this album was very... freeing. It was almost like writing in a diary and that's the mindset I took with me when was conceptualizing VINDICTIVE. I wanted it to be honest, sometimes brutally so. You don't write in a diary expecting people to read it. So, I tried not to overly-edit my songs and make them truly confessional. Even though I was fully aware that people were going to hear them.
Those complicated emotions were something that a lot of fans and critics really latched on to. However, I think a lot of people expected this album to be a whole track-list of 'Without Me' and 'Die 4 Me' - all anger and teeth. I don't think they expected the tears. I'll be honest, I didn't expect them either. When I wrote the lyrics for 'Die For Me' back when I collaborated with Post Malone, I loved it - obviously since a made an additional version with every lyric I initially cut - and I thought, "yes, this is the direction of the new album". But when I sat down to write it, all of the other emotions came. And I knew I had to keep them in.
What was the hardest song for you to write? Ooh, I'd had to say the hardest song to write was 'Doing Better'. I actually thought about that being a title track because it really represents everything I was feeling. I was spiteful - prideful, but there was also this weight of sadness and confusion. I was thinking to myself, "I've broken away from a harmful situation I was stuck in for five years and I'm finally living my life on my terms. So why don't I feel better?" That was all in that song. It's so messy and complicated that I debating even putting it on the album. But I promised myself that I wouldn't force myself to be someone I'm not. So, it's now track seven.
It's interesting to hear that is the song you considered scrapping. If we go with that idea of confessional songwriting, I would think it'd be the angry songs that would be tossed. You know, the therapy advice of 'write an angry letter and throw it out'. I think it's far too late for me to take that advice. [laughter]
I don't want to prod too much into your personal life - Thank you for that. - but I do feel like we should touch on it, at least generally, since it's so woven into he album. Obviously, everyone has heard all the different versions of this story and have made and/or voiced their own conclusions. What was it like for you, hearing all this noise? Well, as you can guess from my five-month absence, it did hurt me at first. That's why I'm really thankful for all the people that stuck with me through all this craziness. I'm also really happy that people have picked up on the hurt that did seep its way into the album. Because it did sting. I ended a five-year relationship. Yes, maybe I was young and more than a little naive but you don't spend that long with someone unless you think it's going to be forever. There is a trust that is built and when that trust is betrayed, it rocks your world. Which is another reason the initial backlash hit so hard as well. Anger is a valid emotion to that situation and I couldn't understand why people were mad at me for having - what I thought was - a completely understandable reaction.
It makes complete sense how you felt blindsided in more ways that one. But you survived all of that and now, here you are. Here I am.
Was it difficult stepping into this new authentic version of yourself? It was. All change is difficult but you need to push through it to grow. There was a moment during this 'metamorphosis' where it hit me that this was what I was supposed to be doing. I always knew that there were parts of me that wanted to escape and bloom but I always pushed them down because I was told that was the right thing to do. I couldn't change genres because pop music sells and doing a complete 180 would alienate a lot of fans. I couldn't come out because of the discrimination and hatred towards the LGBTQ+ community. I couldn't go out and smoke and get drunk and get tattoos and make reckless decisions because I was a pop princess, a good girl. That was my image. I was in pain for so many years because I was denying these parts of myself, twisting myself into so many unnatural shapes, but I didn't understand why it hurt so much. But when I started to embrace all those parts of me, there was this realization like "oh, that's why it was so painful; I was wearing shoes that were totally the wrong size."
It was the relief you feel when you find the right fit. Exactly.
It has been a treat sitting down and talking to you. Mind if we wrap this up with some this or that questions, sent in by our readers? Go for it!
Shower or bath? Depends on how much time I have but shower. Cooking or baking? Baking. Being embarrassed or being afraid? Embarrassed, one-hundred percent. Calls or text? Calls. East coast or west coast? East coast, obviously. Hockey or basketball? Tough question for a Boston girl to answer but... hockey. Thought you might say that. Tattoos or piercings? Both but piercings are a little less permanent. Glass half-empty or half-full? Half-full. General admission of assigned seats? GA, all the way. Dogs or cats? I'll let Gigi answer this one. [Halloran picks up her dog, Gigi, holding the pooch near her ear as if Gigi is whispering to her.] She says dogs, of course.
Amazing. Well, thank you so much for accepting this interview and taking the time out of your day to host as well. I can't wait to blast VINDICTIVE in my car on the way back to New York and I look forwards to seeing you perform during the NHL All-Star game next month!

Downton Abbey Fashion 5 - Edwardian indoors fashion
Next round, here we go! I suspect once I get to the later seasons and the wardrobe budget blows up, I won't be able to keep this convenient older generation v younger generation separated format what with the 30 image limit. I'll probably be lucky to get one character done in one post...
Hey, look, it’s Mary’s introduction outfit! The one, the only, the bratty “oh, do I have to go into mourning just because someone died?” outfit. Nice blouse though. Printed silk, I’d guess, with a ruched-up front because this is 1912 and the dove pigeon chest is not dead yet. The convex-in-the-front shape of the waistband is something you’ll find a lot in Edwardian fashion, but the knife-pleated collar and cuffs are more unique, and some nice pop on this outfit. Although I gotta admit, it looks a little childish, which very much does not fit Mary.
Okay, shout-out to Michelle Dockery’s square shoulders, because I wish I could carry off stripes like that. I love this blouse, I love how she keeps the outfit monochrome to let the stripes do their thing, I love this delicate little silver pin with which she’s underlining all this. Hey, Mary, I know you just have to face the consequences of your actions, but at least you’re looking great while doing it.
I don’t wanna blather about blouses for too long because we usually don’t get a great look at them, but this knit cardigan is a repeater, and it looks cozy as hell. Granted, it’s not much to look at otherwise, but there’s no statement like understatement when you’re wearing Crawley cameo earrings.
--------------
Interestingly, Edith is wearing this black outfit in a scene when all the rest of the family is already out of the black, but she’s been established to have been in love with Patrick who died, so maybe she chooses to go in mourning a little longer. The roses on the blouse loosen it up a little, and as she’s wearing an open collar and not the most strictly long sleeves, it’s not super obvious, but the color scheme does stand out.
Beautiful blouse, but it’s one of the scenes where they told Laura Carmichael to make a face and wear her hair… like this, so she wouldn’t look as pretty as she is. Anyway. I actually love this blouse; I want fabric like this! Wonderful print.
Dark blue and orange combined? My significance sense is tingling! This pairing of colors signals Edith’s romantic arcs, and she wears this in a scene when she tells about Sir Anthony having asked her on the Edwardian equivalent of a date. It’s also one of the first times she gets to wear a more flattering hairdo. These headscarves become a whole thing for Edith, and I don’t hate the sailor collar on her either. It’s the eye-catching element on a dress that keeps it simple otherwise.
Edith and Sybil wear blouses of this style / cut a lot in the first couple seasons. This one isn’t in my favorite colors (we can’t have Edith wearing flattering colors just yet), but I do like the patterned stripes.
--------------
Where they dress Edith to look frumpy, they dress Sybil to look young. So, white sailor collar and ponytail it is, although she does put her hair up once she’s had her debut. Honestly, while this dress is pretty and obviously has had some time put into the button front and the embroidery, I don’t personally love this color. She also only wears this in this one scene, so maybe they realized that a girl with an upcoming romance arc maybe shouldn’t run around like a tall child.
Lovely blouse incoming – check out the ruffled front and the little toothed lace at the bottom hem. And another of these wide collars lest we notice that Jessica Brown Findlay is out of her teens. I love the little silver clasp on the waistband, although I cannot tell if it is enameled or set with cabochons.
Yet another attempt at aging her down, but it’s one of my favorites from Sybil’s wardrobe; these stripes look so nice on her. Plus the ruffles around the collar add up nicely with the sleeve cuffs. Also, thankfully, Sybil’s day blouses usually seem to be of cotton or linen, not silk, so I hope they are as nice to wear as they look.
And there’s the most common day blouse style of the younger Crawley girls. A wildly patterned main fabric, a pigeon-chested fluff front (visible in the second image), half-long sleeves, a wide neckline, all hems framed with a wide ribbon. They look quite nice, although usually not very colorful so they can allow the art deco patterns. Do you hear the 1920s knocking yet?

Setting the Stage: Lyric Winners ~
Our winners this week are @helloijustreadyourpost, @hypexion and @reaperfromtheabyss!
@helloijustreadyourpost — Pin the Blame "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" by The Offspring
This card's pretty much what I was thinking of for how to subvert a notion. The Offspring are an abrasive post-punk sound with punchy lyrics. You've turned one of their first lines of this song into a kind of elegant musing from the queen on the throne. Is it an art? In real life, not really, you've just gotta rile up emotions until things get ugly, and in a song about strength, you don't want to be the one caught in the middle in the scenario that this card depicts. They're so distant from one another but smooth in equal ways. Great use of the prompt and a great card to boot.
Or like, I think it's a good limited common, anyway. There are times where it's literally a dead card because you're maxing out at -1/-1 for two mana on the early board, but if there's some go-wide nonsense, of course it's a blowout. I feel that this card is good in specific circumstances, like where GW has a Convoke-y feeling, tokens that allow you to survive a bigger swing with fewer creatures because you can easily and efficiently take down a big lad. RB/WB aggro probably isn't the place for it, but I like control cards just fine. If you're also up against some kind of Conspiracy 3 design board (I know, I know, designing for standard, but it IS Fiora) then this card gets your opponents far more open to your allies. Pile on!
@hypexion — Elise, Legend's Echo "Love is a Camera" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor
Oh, she's a SPIRIT. I actually just noticed that now. Ha! I mean, she's one to talk, but all the same. As cramped as this text is, everything feels sound. Opening this up in a limited or sealed pool might be a bit of a feelbad. I also think the possibilities to make it go absolutely nuts is cool as well. Standard sets can totally use some built-for-commander cards, and beyond that, she's a pretty hard-to-beat butt if you can throw some swords or whatnot onto her. And if there IS a larger Legendary theme, then the deck-thinning becomes more than that. Get reckless with your legends and have fun.
I think she shines best as a Commander card, though, let's not kid ourselves. Reanimation to combo nonsense means that you can Mardu battlecruise through a table with plenty of support these days, especially with legendary lands. How does she feel? She feels like a lonely, determined card that is less about the bloodshed and more about the memory-making. Having the "Bard" type really makes me reconsider how I see her image, and having seen the real intense lyrics that you're working with, I like the possibility that the echo is somewhat joyful, or at least less despondent than it would seem at first connection. She's living on the battlefield, after all, and she can look for more memories to strengthen her as she goes. It's a complex series of character possibilities and you did a great job conveying them.
@reaperfromtheabyss — Determined Scavenger "Take Cover" by All Time Low
The setting of Duskmourn turned me onto the notion more than the marketing ever did, I'll tell you that much. Seeing the survivors was certainly grim, and there's so much more that's been left behind. Seeing these little snippets, though, plays directly into the well-done trope of doing what one needs to to survive. The twist of the survivor perpetuating the horror under the illusion of self-preservation, though, is still wickedly heartbreaking. Determination and heroism can feel at odds in the face of overwhelming adversity. From my interpretation, the song exudes bitterness in a way that's definitely twisted into that sadism for this character. Ain't that what we're afraid of, in the end... Well, maybe not this guy.
I also like how the mechanics play into the whole survival aspect by being repeatable, intentionally so, in order to continue feeding into the determination here. Getting a big creature can be usually game-ending, but the fact that it's not optional makes this thing a real pain in the butt to work around if you don't know how to use it. I like it, though, because milling yourself out is perfectly flavorful with self-sabotage, and skilled players will know exactly how to work around their creatures in order to make this evasive assassin a beater and a half. The minor wording change I'd use is adding a "When you do" trigger, to make it after the end step say: "When you do, put X +1/+1 counters on ~ and each player mills X cards, where X is the exiled card's mana value." Having the mana value clause in the middle is a little weird, and the trigger being responded to can be important if you want to use delirium shenanigans at the end step in response.
Second verse is coming up, everyone into the pit... @abelzumi

Hello hello
Do you happen to have any thoughts or cool facts on Tsutomu Nihei or his art, author / artist for Blame! and Biomega? It's such stark biological/fractally/horror-ish art that I was wondering if you knew anything about it. If not thanks anyways and have a good day!
it's good as hell? that's a cool fact ;p
I've not ready nearly as much Nihei as I'd like. I'm nearing the end of Blame!, then I'll start in on Sidonia no Kishi. I read some of Biomega, but so many years ago I barely remember it.
It probably goes without saying that Nihei is a genius at conveying scale and has an incredibly cool, distinctive design palette. The atmosphere of Blame! is so good - alien and refusing to explain itself, so we're left to guess and infer, but playing by certain detectable rules. There's a very effective harshness to it - Nihei is so good at bleak. When I finish it I'll definitely write a big substantial 'comics comints' type post.
As far as cool facts, Q Hayashida, author of Dorohedoro, was an assistant to Nihei. We could speculate that some of the charming wonkiness of Hole is a reaction to drawing all those super precise geometric environments.
It's funny bc while both write dark, gory sff manga, the actual tone couldn't be more different. Nihei draws (at least in Blame!) reserved, stick thin cyborgs who implacably pursue a directive for reasons that barely make sense anymore. The setting is full of human elements distorted and made alien. Hayashida's writing is warm and funny and almost everyone is super buff. Hell exists, but in a pretty cheerful way.
Edit: whoops, I repeated a myth. Hayashida never worked for Nihei.
Nihei definitely has certain images he returns to again and again, but they're such distinctive and cool images that I'm more than fine with that. Show me another vast open space with clouds forming in it! Show me the graviton beam emitter just deleting a long line of something. Show me a cyborg with a pale bald head and fucked up limbs. etc etc. Can't get enough.
It's such a shame that none of the animated adaptations of Nihei have done that vibe any justice.

10, 18, 63 of this ask game!!! 😏🧡
Yayy hello my love! Thank you for sending in hehee sorry I'm a yapper...
10. Cltr+f "blinks" on your WIP & copy paste the first sentence/paragraph that comes up
At first I was like: oh shit I actually don't have a WIP that has text in it? (my writing process is Something Else) unless I wanted to say that Queen of the Clan is one massive WIP but posting stuff from already published chapters is no fun. But then I remembered I had something started for fem!ghoap and although no one blinks there (yet), have the closest thing here lmao
18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
Most often (like with all my Love Is Illegal Celebration fics for example) it's after I finish writing, sometimes (especially if it's a big and/or multi-part one) it comes in the process. I think I only has started with a title a few times and that was because my mind came up with a beautiful phrase/good pun that unraveled into a story later.
I like naming stuff after I finish it, because it allows me to know the vibe and the details of the story - since my favourite thing to do is take a rather small detail and make a title out of it (for example, in "Flutter Into The Sky" reader is compared to a butterfly maybe once or twice, but that's the image I used to title the whole thing). My art/writing is very much about finding little images, unusual combinations, it might be less evident in my English writing, but when I write in my native language I am constantly seeking some unconventional comparisons and such, so putting them into the title is the thing for me.
But I also like puns (sorry but I'll never understand why people consider puns dumb/unfunny/stupid sort of humor, it's actually quite hard to come up with a good and original pun), hense every chapter in my hyena au (which is about spotted hyenas specifically) is named with an idiom that contains the word "spot" in it. I literally just have a list of the idioms opened and since I know what the chapter will contain, I just seek something that more or less relates to the content (like oh they'll be having lunch in that chapter - here's "a spot of lunch"). What will I do once I run out of the idioms? No idea, but I dread the day.
And finally, song lyrics/titles. It's actually something I only started doing here, on tumblr (actually, wrong, I just remembered that my biggest fic of all times is called Hoist the colours). Between the "Total Eclipse of the Heart" with Karlach x Soap coming to me in literal vision (a pun, see?) and me trying to promote some oldschool songs by naming my celebration challanges after them (cuz you know, when I celebrated 30 subs, I used a song with the number 30 in it, and so with a hundred...), I just thought I'd stick to using songs for this. So at first I wanted to name evey Love Is Illegal fic after a song with the number 100 in it, but that turned out to be too complicated, so I just started taking songs that had lyrics and/or vibes more or less suited for the stories. And of course most of the time the song needs to pass the test of "does it feel nice to read the fic while listening to it on repeat".
63. Something you hate to see in smut.
There's actually not much I hate to see in smut. Most of the time it's just things I'm not into (like, I honestly don't get dacryphilia, so if it's the main point of the fic, I'll probably just stop reading it), so I simply close it and move on. And most of the kinks I'm not into I can still read and sometimes even enjoy if written well, so there's really not much that can make me feel actual hate. When I'm reading smut in my native language, there's a big problem with uhhh words they use to avoid saying "cock" and, even worse, "pussy". I think English writers can have this problem too, but I'll be honest, the things I sometimes see in smut are like... top cringe ever. And the thing is, I can't even really blame them, because somehow writing "pussy" and "clit" and other words that are totally okay and sexy in English smut, makes for the most cringe-inducing Russian smut. They just don't match the vibe, "pussy" is kinda very much cringe, "cunt" is actually very vulgur so it's suited only for a specific style of writing/scene, "vulva" is like the one I always end up using but it's quite awkward and feels too official/medical, and "vagina" and "clit/clitoris" sound too out of place and almost medical. Of course there are ways to avoid the cringe and to write amazing smut, and I bet the reason why all the words naming fem genitalis feel so "dirty" "unsexy" and "degrading" is some deep rooted mysoginy, but it's honestly mental gymnastics every time. So while I get the struggle of people decribing "little warm caves of love" and "jade wands", maybe just don't, buddy, maybe just write "and then they FUCKED".
So yeah. If I hate anything in smut, it's when it's written real bad, all the other things make me upset, but not hateful. Like, I actually struggle when there's no love to feel between characters. And I also somehow tend to feel whether or not the author was putting in that love, I can't explain it, but I actually had this confirmed several times, so yeah, no love = no happy Juju. But not just in smut, any work without love just feels wrong and upsetting to me. But in smut it is especially important if there's degradation and such involved, cuz sorry, but I can only survive being/seeing a fave character being called a cumwhore, a cocksleeve and a useles slut if it's VERY EVIDENT that they don't actually mean it. Otherwise okay bye Imma go jump off a cliff.
I don't know how I manage to combine some unhinged fantasies and kinks with this need for love to be at core of literally everything, but I actually have seen other people so it so beautifully, so I know I'm not alone and it is possible to be a freak and a romantic.
P.S. Decided to add that I actually think that vulva is a very sexy word, but unfortunately I have only written for some very brute masculine barbarian at heart women so they would never actually use this word organically. They're more inclined to call their genitals "cunt" but since they all were fucking other women and afab people that they were deeply in love with, they couldn't call their loved ones' parts this rude word either. Smut is a struggle comrades.

Hey hey hey you know I used to hate Langris Vaude with a burning passion but then I started rewatching black clover multiple times and a lot of the episodes I rewatched had Langris in them and I started loving him sm and like
What're you supposed to when at the start you and your brother are close and you love him, he's someone you're comfortable enough to lay beside when days are rough (referencing to that scene of them as kids dozing off together). But then suddenly your parents are grooming you into hating him and so you start insulting him because you're being manipulated into knowing you're the best and he doesn't fight back at all so wow your parents must be right. Then as you grow older your parents telling you that you're the best doesn't seem like a truth anymore but more like a mantra they're repeating because you have to be the best and so you start feeling pressured and then your brother suddenly leaves your house and probably doesn't communicate with you much which is probably your fault because you grew up bullying him anyways but you're still hurt because he fucking left you alone. And then you enter the knights and go into the golden dawn because it's rising to the top ranks and your parents still have those expectations that are becoming even more suffocation every time you hear it and you just delude yourself into thinking that you really are the best and you strive to be just that because if you aren't the golden child then what the fuck else are you? What else is your worth? You've got nothing else. You hate your brother because he doesn't have to be the golden child to be something— he was loved by the maids and he's loved by that godforsaken squad, which does in fact still mean something despite how shitty that squad is.
I'm not excusing Langris' behaviour— he's a noble and the system/hierarchy of clover taught him that there was no problem with the way he acted. Actually, Langris got lucky that someone managed to knock him onto a better track (I mean, he's still haughty and arrogant but he's starting to get better) while he's still a young 20 yr old. But if you're raised just to be the 'better kid', and you've been branded with the image of the amazing golden child ever since, it has a high possibility of becoming your main trait. It's all people ever see you as, and in Clover, people seeing you and the attention you get mean power. So he'd lose all that if he wasn't the best. For finral, it's okay if he wasn't the best because he was a people person. He's ridiculed yeah but he's able to connect with people in a way Langris never really learned how to growing up.
Anyways I love the Vaude siblings and I wanna see more of them. I'll make a separate post on finral and then another post for their dynamic because they each deserve their own spotlight.

hi!! Omg I love your fic and the last chapter was so good, all of these dynamics between the characters are so interesting! I also love when you give us extra lil snippets or ficlets here, and I was wondering if you could satisfy my curiosity about something (if you feel like it and it won't cause spoilers? )
I'd love to read a little scene of what went down between the others when Bojan and Jan were fucking during practice haha. Like how/when did they realise they weren't gonna be joining them anytime soon and why, could they hear them, is this normal behaviour or were they like wtf. I'm especially interested in how Nace and Kris felt, I'd love to hear Kris' POV of him realising and hearing that his not-boyfriend was indeed getting fed by someone else and how Kris felt about that.
Way shorter and not an actual scene but id also love to know what Jure whispered in Naces ear to make him even hornier watching bojan and Jan make out haha!
No pressure at all but if you did want to write something short I'd love to read it :)))
Aww thank you so much! I'm very glad you liked it!
I do really like that idea and probably will write something for how the others felt while the fucking was happening. Probably won't be a full chapter or anything and I'll post it here maybe. Might write it after I've written a few more chapters of the fic just so I don't spoil feelings and stuff. (I dunno if there would be spoilers but I wanna be safe)
I can do the other idea though! Have a little ficlet of Nace's POV during the Bo(Jan) dance floor flashback. Very quick thing.
"You wanna play with Joker Out you gotta party with Joker out" Jure slurred in Nace's ear, half kissing at the shell of it. The bassist had wondered how much of the rock and roll lifestyle the band would indulge in when he joined and it seemed he was getting his answer at their celebratory party to honour his first gig with them.
There was much less drugs and girls and much more bad karaoke and getting closer to each other than Nace realised. He knew what Bojan was and had been ready for him to be a flirt and a tease. It seemed the other three were just as bad though.
Jure had spent much of the night running his fingers down Nace's spine, sending shivers over his body as Kris giggled and told him about the last time Bojan had gone down on him.
Nace blushed hard as Kris keep repeating variations on "Dude you have to let him feed on you at least once. It's so worth it," Jure mumbling in agreement of how hot it was the few times they'd let him watch as payment for using his bed at the studio.
He breathed a sigh of relief as Kris got up to buy them all another round. The relief was short lived however as he looked to the dance floor. There were bodies everywhere but there were only two he cared about. Jan had pulled Bojan close, his hands in the demon's back pockets and lips hungrily devouring his.
Bojan moved his hips against Jan's, practically dry humping him as his hands grabbed at Jan's hair and neck. The lights danced over them as the music pounded, making them look almost ethereal.
Nace felt his cock harden even more, already worked up from Kris’s stories and Jure's lewd comments. He tried to stifle his moan behind the glass he brought to his lips. Jan looked hot, his lips easy and relaxed as they worked against Bojan's, his mesh shirt showing off his body wonderfully and his hair falling in his face. He wanted to be in Bojan's place, have Jan's hands against his ass and his body pressed close as they showed off for everyone watching. They broke the kiss and Nace's eyes met Bojan's, dark with lust and alcohol. The demon grinned at him, Jan's mouth on his jaw. Nace then glanced to meet Jan's gaze. The werewolf looked at him through his eyelashes and really that wasn't fair with how seductive he looked.
"He has a big cock I bet, maybe he'll show it to you," Jure hissed in his ear, grinning as Nace turned an even darker shade of red. The image of Jan fucking him right here and now appeared in his mind and he bit his tongue hard. The image of Jan sitting casually in the booth while Nace rode his dick, lost in ecstacy, everyone watching them and enjoying the show, sent a wave of need over him.
He couldn't be here anymore, excusing himself quickly and taking in lungfuls of fresh air outside as his head swam. He was never going to get that image out if his head. Those beautiful eyes looking at him after he made out with Bojan, practically begging him to come take the demon's place. Or maybe that's just what Nace hoped they said. This wasn't some cute little crush anymore, this was a heavy need for the werewolf to be his. Nace would have to learn to enjoy the ride if he was going to survive being in the band.
