i'm getting my groove back with chapter 5 and don't really want to distract myself with something else, so this week's kuwagami is the ever-changing edition

He got to know. He had to figure out what to do to help Kuwana. Even though the best help he could possibly provide now would be to step away, Yagami wasn’t about to do that. He wasn’t good at that. And if he didn’t do something, then… It was proven time and time again that he couldn’t ever leave anything in Kuwana’s hands.

Out of the two of them, Kuwana was the most prone to fucking up. He was reckless. He was used to taking risks. He wasn’t concerned about his safety— about his life.

Yagami had to do everything for him. How irritating it was, that he cared about Kuwana more than Kuwana cared about himself. He had no right, no capacity to deal with it on his own. How couldn’t he understand? How could Yagami possibly step down and let everything run its course, trusting Kuwana to follow sound judgment? He had none. Yagami knew that better than anyone, and because of that, he had to make sure Kuwana hadn’t done anything stupid and was staying away from further trouble.

If it came to it, Yagami would even risk his life and safety; wouldn’t be the first time, right? He never promised Kuwana that he wouldn’t, and Kuwana had to know him better than to hope his plea was listened to. He should’ve already come to realize just how stubborn and unruly Yagami was… unless he didn’t know him at all.

hi!! sorry it took me kind of long to reply. well... it's uh, a bit complicated. it's definitely not a happy ending I think. I'm guessing you're okay with spoilers on the subject so I can tell you neither of the wlw couple technically dies. it's implied she's alive somewhere and probably healing and hopefully coming back if there's a third season. but I have to be honest with you, they don't end up together riding off into the sunset at the end of s2. i think it's still worth watching. but to be fair I ended up sad... so... maybe not the best choice for you right now? i will say s1 ends on a dramatic note but not sad I think! so maybe you could start there?

how old is hero, physically? they look young, a similar age to the rest of the cast- but why? does she have a say in how old he looks? if so, why did she pick this age? or, if he has no say in it, why do they look that age?

hero is everyone, right? because they're the hero's spirit? i know most of the cast is pretty young right now, but i assume they'll all grow up later, and personally if i was an adult and then my ghost/spirit was a child i would be pretty unhappy with that

He's a young adult, I'd say 25 maybe? Like the kind of age a kid would think is old but when u reach that age it feels like youre a fraud and not a "real" adult

The meta reasons for why are:

- I wanted him to be recognisable as Link, and most of us imagine even adult Links on the younger side of adulthood due to the games.

- Hero's role in the story is inspired largely by some events in my own life. I'm only 22 when writing this so its pretty easy to guess I wasn't very old when those things occured haha.

- It's very important to me that Hylia and Hero's dynamic is read in a very specific way! The things I want to say are very much tied to the idea of a maternal figure and someone who isn't quite independent yet. Again, this is because of me writing from experience.

Of course an older Hero could work, youre never too old to have troubles with your mom. Just that it works better for my intentions this way.

TLDR; She looks like that cause it works the best (in my opinion) for telling a very personal storyline.

But

That doesn't answer the question in universe at all. AND I'll admit I hadn't put much thought into that until your ask! So thank you!

However... The answer for now at least is uh... I dont know why hero in-universe appears like that. It may even be better left open for people to make their own conclusions.

- She doesn't choose to appear younger but that is how the goddesses see him so it just happens

- He CAN control how they look and doesn't feel ready to exist as an older adult yet.

- She's aging alongside Hylia who's older than her.

- Maybe he feels stuck in a specific moment or moments due to bad experiences

- He hasnt considered it either and if u asked she'd have an extential crisis cause they dont know eitheer....

Hey there, Anon!!

I'm terrible at explaining most things, but I'll do my best! Sorry if this isn't...really what you're asking for, lol I'm trying, I swear.

Essentially what it is (and definitely not new), is training machines to create something that a real human being has already done - so with the fanfic scraping, they go in and "devour" the fics written to train their programs so that they can mass produce some form of content, whether it's stories, essays, scripts, you name it.

The machines learn off of the things we write. It sees how sentences are formulated, and how dialogue and tone blends together for a story/script/paper/etc. But it can also copy writing style, as each writer has them.

I personally don't want my fics, or style, to be a teacher, or flat out COPIED to something that will produce soulless, half-baked stories in the end, when a PERSON could easily enough just write something. Locking fics at least adds a step so that only registered users can see the fanfics, whereas if your fics aren't locked, yes, they're open for EVERYONE to read and see, which is great in theory, but then the scraping programs see that as fair game and use it to train their AI models.

The same thing happens with art, music, you name it, and 99% of the time, they have no consent to use [x thing someone made] to train their AI programs. It's ultimately theft, and monetized in some cases as well.

TL;DR: It uses fics to teach a machine how to make sentences (and not great ones)

I FREAKIN' LOVED THIS CHAPTER!!! 😆 (LIKE A WHOLE LOT...!!! 😍)

So let's talk about, shall we...? 😁

When I opened the chapter and saw THIS:

I already knew it Sylvia (Handler) Sherwood!!

ONE OF THE MANY QUEENS IN THIS SERIES...!! 💗🛐💗

So after she gets done at WISE, she heads back home to get Aaron (the bomb dog) and meet up with Twilight...! But then, after Aaron slips on some junk in her house, Sylvia remarks that she use to keep this place tidy and THIS happens...:

We finally get to see what Sylvia's husband and daughter looked like and her lines in the other panel all but confirms to me that they are not alive anymore... 😔 Which makes her house being super messy all the time, a lot more sad... 😓

Continuing on, Sylvia meets up with Twilight and Anya (who's there because it's a half day at school) at the dog park! Anya finds out that Aaron was one of the bomb dogs, and when he goes greet Bond after all this time... Bond is like:

I was like:

DAMN, BOND...!! 😌 WHY YOU GOTTA DO AARON LIKE THAT!! 🤣

After that, Anya suggests that they should have a competition to see who has the better doggo...! And Sylvia excepts!! 😆

Twilight wasn't down for it, but when Sylvia said that she'll take away the extra mission that she was about to give him, he was like:

"You son of a bitch... I'm in!"👍

AND SO THE COMPETITION BEGAN...!!

First up was an obstacle course, and well...:

Sylvia and Aaron did great, while Bond did his best...!! 😂

Next up was a tracking and retrieving test and Bond was the victor of this challenge, all thanks to Sylvia having a piece of dried pasta on her coat...!! 🤭

And the final challenge was to have the doggos catch a frisbee and Bond's powers activated, giving him an advantage to possibly win...!! 😁 But, uh... 😅:

...it didn't quite go as he and Anya hoped, ending the competition in a tie... 😌

After that, Handler gives Twilight an interesting tidbit about Project Apple:

Some of their research teams are still active...! 😲 Could we possibly be getting more info about Project Apple in the near future...? 🤔 I sure hope so...! 😤

Lastly, before she leaves, Sylvia pats Anya on the head like she did back at the end of The Inusan Crisis arc...! 💗

And that was Mission 78 and like I said in the beginning, I REALLY FREAKING LOVED IT!! 😆 It was funny / fun, had a very sad moment for Sylvia and gave us some interesting information about Project Apple!! I could go on, but I think I'll leave it at that!😁

This chapter has me super excited for the next one, but it's not the reason I'm excited...! You see, in two weeks when the next chapter gets released, It'll be my birthday!! 🎉😁🎊 I just hope that it actually is a chapter or a short mission and not just a picture...!! 😌 Otherwise, y'all gonna be hearing about!! 😤

Flipping tables that not only did I not manage to catch up, but I've missed even Finale Week on the rewatch?! 😱 What can I say, though? My body has been through It and just like all of us I've just been keeping on as best I can. Blindspot is an absolute gem of a show; finding it and finding this fandom in 2021 made so much of the pandemic so much more bearable and even enjoyable than it probably should have been. I've made friends and beloved acquaintances, people I chat with and those who are just quiet mutuals, and I never fail to be impressed by the wild stuff y'all put on my dash - Blindspot or otherwise. Perhaps best of all, you all encouraged me to get back in touch with a creative side and curiosity in dabbling that had kinda got lost in the muck that was my particular line of work even before the pandemic, and left so many of us "just scraping by" once The Rona came for us. I learned to make gifs! I made a music video! I played with jpegs like they're dolls! I even learned that I'm - apparently, istg guys it still feels weird to say - a writer! The bottom line is, life has been better with Blindspot and this small and mighty fandom than it might have been without.

I feel in my heart that I'm not remotely done with this show, but I'm not gonna do anything so grandiose as making pledges about intended creations or future blogging. I'll still be keeping on with rewatching at my own pace when the vibes are right, and I may or may not make it A Thing sometimes, so, RIP to your dashes. Even if I don't continue to build the museum, it's a safe bet I'll be dabbling other stuff over on @nachosncheezies

wow, it's very funny how brain is now tormenting me with memories and regrets about my now ex bf in the exact same way it did when dad died

except that when dad died, it was frustrating because i can never see him again, so it was a fruitless, cruel torture. with bf, there is *technically* the chance that we might make peace. doubt it, because why the hell would he pick me back a second time, but the possibility is driving me mad

i get it. it was my fault. i messed up. i always do. i need to change. i don't know how. no one cares as long as i change asap.

i honestly feel like a failure of a human being at this point. can't graduate. can't build up qualifications to find a job. can't keep friends nearby because i'm fundamentally boring and standoffish. can't keep a relationship of 6 years because i can't be around people and I'm rude and can't smile at command and can't socialize and can't keep the depression at bay.

although honestly I don't think I'll be saying anything that others haven't already said haaaaa

anyway finally, a chance for morty's new VA to shine, and GOD does he. I love the way Evil Morty talks, idk why but that bored "uh huh" when Rick tries shooting him several times is soooo funny to me. he killed it and so did ian cardoni (the way he screams "I'LL KILL YOU" after slow mobius' death OOOOOUUUU CHILLS)

i honestly did not expect to see Evil Morty again, and even though I'm kinda sad he didn't get the lasting peace away from Rick that he wanted, he is a DELIGHT to see in action!! i love his interactions w Rick, it's so interesting having a Morty that's on par/better than Rick. although I'll be honest....he kinda feels like a Rick himself, especially w the cybernetic augmentations he also has--at least to me. Wonder if that's going to be brought up again later down the line, something about becoming the monster you fight against i LOVE how we got to see his backstory finally, like others have said I'm really happy that he was just a "normal" Morty. his Rick wasn't anything special. he literally was just a Morty who finally got sick of Rick's shit. i loved the reveal too, bc they DID have me going for a sec there, I thought who we were seeing was OUR morty Indiana Jones Rick 💘💘💘😳😳😳😳😳💦 that's all I'm saying on that And ok, DO I think Rick Prime is dead? like ACTUALLY dead? Honestly...yes. At least I hope so. I think it'd be FAR more compelling for Rick to be like "...now what?" and for the show to actually explore and unpack that, over it being like HAHA SURPRISE RICK PRIME'S NOT ~REALLY~ DEAD you know?

Because yeah. He got his revenge, the revenge he's literally been chasing...basically his entire life, like...since his, what, 30s? And it didn't feel good. It didn't fix things, it didn't make him feel better. He feels as empty as he did before and NOW he doesn't even have a goal to strive towards anymore. There's nothing. And I feel like the ending of the episode did a REALLY good job of portraying that just numbness. He probably fantasized about this moment the WHOLE time and it absolutely didn't live up to it. It wasn't glorious or feel liberating, he just ends up covered in blood and feeling more hollow and broken than before. That's just...kinda how trauma is Morty at first hesitating to touch Rick but eventually hugging him anyway was so sweet ;_; Anyway as for the cinematography of the episode itself...absolutely stellar. Great fights, the SCOPE of everything, the backgrounds and settings, it's wild how much this show has popped off with its animation (it's honestly so funny seeing them stitch in clips from Season 1 in there bc the CONTRAST in animation quality is astounding. its like when artists on twitter do the "my art from 10 years ago vs now" comparisons LOL. LITERALLY, SEASON 1 WAS 10 YEARS AGO). The just dead silence as Rick punches Rick Prime to death (only sounds of course being rick talking and punching), the whole exchange that happened during it, how just downright BRUTAL it was, that entire scene was crafted so well, and others have pointed out the significance of Rick literally beating Prime to death with his bare fists instead of using his tech or weapons or anything, which i feel like was definitely on purpose, and i love man this post ended up longer than i anticipated I'M SORRY. THIS EPISODE DESTROYED ME EMOTIONALLY AND I LOVE WHEN THIS SHOW DOES THAT ✌✨ MY BRAIN'S BEEN BUZZING. IF YOU READ ALL THIS RAMBLING THANKS I GUESS HLFDKSJFH
