I might have finally found the winning combo of meds and dear god I forgot what it was like to feel like a real person.

It's genuinely baffling. I mean... I slept through the night and woke up rested? I got housework done? I took care of all my basic needs? My mood was stable? The paranoia was manageable? I don't think I've been this person in at least a decade.

So after the hospital stay of last week, which addressed the issues of hypertension and diabetes (with ongoing medication), I went for an in-depth eye exam today to find out what could be done about the retinopathy.

Turns out it is entirely diabetes-based, and as extremely serious as the initial eye exam made it out to be (for the record, that happened a week ago Friday). It's bad enough they were looking at operating on me today, but instead I'm scheduled for tomorrow, which means I had to arrange an Uber (since I can't depend on my brother for a ride).

I'm not panicking nearly as much as I could be; I feel pretty calm about it. I want to feel hopeful, in fact, because if this is fixed, I'll maybe get my vision back? And keep it that way? And I'll be able to (le gasp) draw again?

I miss drawing. I miss doing the portraits. I want to be able to do more of them.

Let's hope this pans out in my favor.
