Finally... S/I lore built completely off a friend's S/I... I have peaked. Jade the Dragon (MLP version) is @delightfuldevin's S/I. Thanks again for letting me use you as a building block for this one!!

I've actually had a concept of a Dragon S/I for MLP for a long time. I thought the concept that Dragons grow based on their hoard was fascinating and though what would happen if a Dragon had nothing? And also sense Twilight had to hatch a Dragon Egg for her Magic exam, did other students do the same? What happened to those dragons?

This is just the combination of those two concepts.

Most dragons have Something. The first thing they are given is their name, usually dragons are named after something precious and hoard worthy, hoping starting with something so precious would lead them to greatness in their futures.

The student who hatched Emile didn't give him a name, or anything really. They weren't friends. To them, Emile was just a pair of claws that could write and hold things. To Emile, the Student was his boss. They were co-workers at most.

Eventually, this student flunked out of Celestia's magic school, leaving Emile no where else to go. He was around 13 at this time, still without a name or anything else one may consider a hoard, and still the size of a child.

Princess Celestia ended up offering him a job, sense he stuck around and wandered aimlessly without the student to tell him what to do. He worked as Celestia's right hoof, like a Dragon would to a magic student. He wrote her letters and retrieved her books. She didn't need him, and he knew that, but Emile was never one to ask for much of anything, so he worked for the Princess without a word of resistance.

Working for the Princess came with many more freedoms than Emile was use to, but still nothing he could claim as his. He stayed in a guest room in the Castle, never spoke as his room, never decorated outside of what already existed. He gained knowledge from the Castle's Library, from borrowed books. He paid for his meals with hard work, he always put things back where he got them. Nothing was to keep.

This continued until Emile met Jade, a strange Dragon who'd come and go as he pleased, and talked of adventures through portals and across realities. Jade gave Emile his name, and with it Emile felt 10 feet tall. Jade gave Emile Friendship and Family, things one wouldn't consider to be owned, but when Emile first claimed Jade as his friend it became obvious he'd grown, more than physically.

Perhaps, with Jade's help, Emile can find he has the right to ask for thing and take up space.

I headcanon WIll absolutely loves snakes, and can understand them. And snakes love him.

So just imagine one morning Will and Nico were walking peacefully in the woods yk sappy teenage couple things. And Nico finds a snake, he shows it to Will and the snake just slithers up to Will, Will holds out his hand and the snake just latches himself onto Will, Nico makes a joke saying "i think he likes you" and Will stares him dead in the eye and goes "She said shes a girl," and then Will explains how he can understand snakes, with snakes being the symbol of healing.

the need to have in hand the stories i’d been wanting to read my entire life finally hit critical mass and overturned the debilitating social anxiety/OCD magical thinking that told me i would be pelted with eggs and rotten fruit for daring to inflict my thoughts (and thots) upon other residents of the internet. only took 25 years, folks! prior to this i was simply trying to cram all of my nascent fanned fiction into the tags field of random posts on tumblr dot edu, which i’m sure was not annoying AT ALL for anyone making the posts that came under my fire.

now obviously i do not have that problem and i tag things normally.

eurydice hadestown is very handy with quick mental math and its applications, i.e. calculating tips, making change, emergency budgeting, guesstimating prices, etc. orpheus hadestown can subdivide ONLY in the context of musical time signatures and only ever passed a math class beyond algebra 2 because he has big sad eyes and his teachers felt bad that he was clearly trying really hard. this is perpetually baffling to eurydice, who is just like "if you tip 15% it’s 10% of the bill plus half of that, so you just move the decimal up a place and then divide that number by two and then add them and—" and orpheus is like no no that’s already too many steps. and she’s like well what do you just not tip your barista because it’s too many steps? asshole? and he’s like of course not! i always tip two dollars. and she’s like on a four dollar coffee? that’s a 50% tip?? and he’s like well no that one was $4.38, see, it’s just easier to not have to do the math. and she’s like [screams]

for orpheus’ part, he can diagram chord progressions to an extent that causes eurydice to lapse into a defensive coma, but of course that has no practical applications.

no, YOU give ME some advice on writer’s block and low creativity!!!

i dunno, man, all the stuff that works for me is stuff that’s been said more eloquently elsewhere. if you’ve written one sentence that’s a sentence that didn’t exist before and therefore you have increased the thing. the time will pass anyway so you may as well pass it making something. sometimes you just need to look at another project, another fandom, another creative hobby, a tree, instead of your current project. you’re allowed to just think about it if thinking about it is all you have the heart to do. it’s easy to mistake the plateau before leveling up for stagnation, and it’s easy to mistake the upward climb for rotting and crumbling into dust.

you’re always improving. every day you wake up and see with your eyes and hear with your ears and think about the world around you, you’re banking sense-impressions and test-running dialog and feeling emotions that might one day find their way into a project. and this too is writing, in its way.

community college is so funny because half of the teachers are like "For this class you need to use lockdown browser for all quizzes and tests. You need to buy this 70 dollar textbook, and all papers turned in must be in APA format with a title page even if they're only 500 words long. I will not accept late assignments. Also you have a minimum of 4 assignments a week." and the other half are like "you don't need proctoring for the final exam I trust you. here's a download link to a pirated copy of the textbook. as long as your writing is coherent and demonstrates an understanding of the material I literally could not care less what format you use. I can't figure out how canvas works so I'm not giving you due dates, just make sure it's turned in before the grading period ends. your only weekly assignment is a forum post with a minimum of 100 words."
