Just a word? Cat 😻
"sir, I must ask you to please reconsider - "
a crash.
a sigh.
Ava stifles a laugh as she makes her way into the kitchen. finds Beatrice, cup of tea in hand, an "I told you" look that Ava has seen pointed at her own self many, many times, but this time it's aimed at: Prince Furrdinand, their cat, usually black but now white and whining amidst an overturned bowl and some mixing utensils.
Beatrice glances at Ava. "good morning, darling. I'm afraid breakfast is a bit delayed."
"aw, he just wanted to help, Bea," Ava says as she takes Furrdinand into her arms, flour and all.
"I suppose he got his definition of 'helping' from you."
"oh you love it. you weren't complaining about the whipped cream last week."
"the whipped cream, no. the sprinkles? yes."
Ava lets out the laugh that had been building in her chest, steps over the mess to fit her lips against Beatrice's, tastes the tea on her tongue, warm and sweet. feels Beatrice's fingers twitch against her neck, wrapping around to pull Ava in closer.
a loud cry interrupts them.
Ava lingers against Beatrice's mouth before finally pulling away, finds Beatrice dazed and darkened - cheeks and eyes and all. Ava steps back and gives her a cheeky grin. "I'll clean this guy up while you cook?"
Beatrice swallows, says faintly, "yes, Ava."
Ava laughs softly to herself. just another morning in the Silva household.

With all the Shadow discourse that's ensued, I'm unsure if my portrayal of Shadow in Stellar will line up with *anyone's* at this point. I guess I knew the risks by including him, lol.
While I get the temptation to peek at discourse in order to help you color within the lines, so to speak, it'll paralyze your writing process. Just because everyone's got an opinion on how Shadow ought to be characterized doesn't mean every one of those opinions ought to factor into your writing. Besides, I'm sure there's a lot of people out there who think I'm completely wrong about him. Like usual.
I'm afraid I'm just not stating my piece with a whole lot of skill or tact rn because tbqh I lack the bandwidth for the verbal gymnastics necessary to acknowledge the ten thousand asterisks his character usually comes saddled with. Shadow's character is as variable as it is multifaceted, and I don't feel like writing MLA-formatted essays in order to capture every if, and, or but. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just do your best. That's all anyone can ask.
