Pl plz plz some Leah smut. Like reader has been travelling & leah has been sex deprived & when reader returns leah jumps her x
it’s not quite smut but it’s close enough
oh, and i’m sort of back…
-
You barely get the key in the door before it’s yanked open from the inside, like Leah’s been standing there, waiting, vibrating with unspent energy, and, more likely, unchecked rage. She looks good, which is annoying. Her hair’s slightly damp, and she’s in one of your hoodies—the grey one with the slightly frayed cuffs, the one she always steals when she wants to get away with things.
She stares at you. Not in a romantic, teary-eyed, oh-my-God-you’re-home way. More like she’s assessing the damage. More like she’s calculating just how much she’s going to make you pay for leaving her here alone. Three weeks. Alone. In this house. With only her own hand and a rapidly depleting sense of self-control.
“You,” she says, like an accusation.
“Me,” you say, stepping inside, dropping your bags.
She’s still staring.
“Miss me?” you ask, grinning.
She doesn’t answer, just grabs the front of your shirt, pulls you fully inside, and slams the door shut.
“Three weeks,” she says, voice clipped, already backing you against the wall. Her fingers curl in the fabric, knuckles whitening. “Do you have any idea what it’s been like?”
Leah has never been known for her patience. Not in queues, not in traffic, not in meetings, and certainly not when it comes to you. Three weeks you were gone. A press tour. Obligations. Endless flights, different time zones, hotels with beds that smelled like washing detergent and other people’s lives. Facetimes that never quite felt like enough. She’d lasted the first week with nothing but passive-aggressive texts and the occasional call, voice tight with the kind of restraint that suggested she was moments away from losing her composure entirely. By week two, she was openly sulking. By week three, you were receiving messages like, “I am actually going to die” and “This is inhumane” and “I hope you’re happy, my muscles have atrophied.”
“I was working”
“I had to do yoga.”
You blink. “You?”
“Yes.”
You bite your lip, trying not to laugh. “Jesus.”
She exhales sharply through her nose, jaw tight. “Not funny.”
“No, of course not.” You shake your head solemnly. “Very serious.”
She glares at you. “I am not joking. And I had to light a candle.”
This time, you do laugh. “A candle?”
“A fucking lavender one.” Her grip tightens on your shirt. “I’ve been desperate. Like, actually clinically unwell. Do you understand?”
“I think I can imagine—”
“You can’t,” she interrupts, shaking her head. “You’ve been in Italy. Drinking espresso. Eating pasta. Probably wanking in a five-star hotel—”
“Leah—”
“Meanwhile, I’ve been here. Alone. With a shitty vibtator and several cold showers.”
“You act like I was off having an affair,” you say, raising an eyebrow.
Leah exhales, impatient, then tilts her head, considering. “Would’ve been less cruel,” she says eventually. “At least then I could’ve been angry instead of just—” She gestures vaguely at herself. “—sexually malnourished.”
She kisses you before you have a chance to respond, her hands sliding up your chest, curling around the back of your neck, holding you there like she needs to keep you still, needs to make you stay. Her mouth is hot and demanding, frustration spilling over, and when she pulls back, she looks just as angry, just as desperate, just as ready to have you ruin her as she was a minute ago.
“Upstairs,” she says, already pulling you towards the staircase.
You smirk. “You’re keen.”
She stops, turning sharply, eyes dark. “Shut the fuck up and take me upstairs.”

Seven chances
Min ho Moon x ex!reader
Summary: Min Ho plans seven dates to win back his ex—and it just might work.
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~
I never thought I’d see Min Ho Moon again. Not after the way things ended between us.
The moment I spot him across the café, I freeze. He looks exactly the same—maybe even better. Same tousled hair, same confident smirk, same annoyingly perfect skin. But something in his eyes is different. I quickly turn my attention back to my laptop, pretending I didn’t see him.
I should’ve known that wouldn’t stop him.
“Hey,” his voice is smooth, casual, but I can hear the nerves underneath. “Didn’t expect to see you here.”
I exhale slowly before looking up. “Min Ho.” I keep my tone neutral.
He doesn’t take the hint. Instead, he slides into the chair across from me without asking. Typical.
“How have you been?” he asks, as if we’re old friends catching up.
“Fine,” I say. “Busy.”
Min Ho leans back, studying me. I hate how easy it is for him to make eye contact, like we didn’t go months without speaking. Like he didn’t break my heart.
“I miss you,” he says. Just like that. No preamble, no hesitation.
I let out a short laugh. “That’s not how this works, Min Ho.”
He frowns. “How what works?”
“You don’t just walk back into my life and say you miss me,” I say, folding my arms. “You don’t get to act like nothing happened.”
His jaw tightens. “I know. That’s why I’m here.”
I glance away, out the café window, watching people walk by. It’s a crisp afternoon in Seoul, and the city feels like it’s moving faster than I am.
Min Ho sighs, rubbing his hands together like he’s bracing himself. “I messed up.”
“No kidding.”
He nods. “I hurt you. And I hate myself for it.”
I close my laptop, giving him my full attention. “Then why did you do it?”
Min Ho hesitates. “Because I was scared.”
“Scared?” I repeat, incredulous. “That’s your excuse?”
“I didn’t think I was good enough for you,” he says, voice quiet. “I thought if I let myself get too close, I’d end up ruining everything. So instead of losing you later, I pushed you away first.”
I stare at him. “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”
“I know,” he says, a ghost of a smile on his lips. “I’m an idiot.”
I shake my head. “You really are.”
There’s a beat of silence between us. I should get up and leave. I should tell him it’s too late, that I don’t care anymore.
But I do care.
And Min Ho, for all his flaws, is sitting here, admitting he was wrong. That’s not something he does often.
“I don’t expect you to forgive me,” he says, his voice softer now. “But I want to try again. I want to prove to you that I’ve changed.”
I look at him carefully. “And how exactly do you plan to do that?”
Min Ho smirks, the familiar confidence creeping back into his expression. “Give me a week. Let me take you on seven dates. No expectations, no pressure. Just… let me show you why we were good together.”
I raise an eyebrow. “Seven?”
He nods. “Seven.”
I should say no. I should walk away and never look back.
But instead, I sigh. “Fine. One week.”
The grin that spreads across his face is enough to make my heart ache. Because deep down, I know the truth.
I never really stopped loving him.
Day One: The Ice Rink
Min Ho picks me up right on time, a smug look on his face. “You’re going to love this,” he says, leading me inside the rink.
I narrow my eyes. “You remember that I can’t skate, right?”
“That’s the best part,” he teases. “You’ll have to hold onto me the whole time.”
I glare at him, but when we step onto the ice and I immediately slip, I have no choice but to grab his arm. He chuckles. “Told you.”
Despite my frustration, I can’t help but smile. Maybe this isn’t the worst idea after all.
Day Two: The Bookstore
“I remember you used to spend hours in here,” Min Ho says as we step inside my favorite bookstore.
I give him a suspicious look. “You hate bookstores.”
“I hate reading,” he corrects. “Not bookstores.” He picks up a random book and flips through it, pretending to look interested.
I smirk. “You’re just trying to impress me.”
“Is it working?” he asks, grinning.
I roll my eyes, but I don’t miss the warmth creeping into my chest.
Day Three: The Street Market
Min Ho buys me tteokbokki from my favorite vendor, and we wander through the market, the scent of food filling the air. He tries to feed me a piece, but I swat his hand away.
“You’re so difficult,” he groans.
“You love it,” I tease before I can stop myself.
He grins. “I do.”
Day Four: The Beach
We sit on the sand, watching the waves roll in. Min Ho looks at me, his expression unreadable. “I don’t deserve you,” he says suddenly.
I sigh. “Min Ho—”
“I just need you to know that,” he interrupts. “Even if this doesn’t work out, I need you to know how much I regret losing you.”
I swallow hard. “You’re trying, Min Ho. That’s what matters.”
He nods, but I can tell he’s still scared.
So am I.
Day Five: The Arcade
Min Ho drags me to the arcade, his eyes full of mischief.
“Winner picks the next date,” he challenges.
We go head-to-head in basketball, air hockey, and racing games. He wins some, I win more (at least, that’s my version).
At the claw machine, he spends way too many tries before finally winning a small stuffed dog. He hands it to me, a little sheepish.
“For you.”
I hold it close, pretending it doesn’t mean anything. But it does.
Day Six: Karaoke Night
Min Ho books a private karaoke room, and I immediately regret saying yes.
“You just want to show off,” I accuse.
He winks. “Obviously.”
He belts out Love Scenario like he’s on stage, dancing like an idiot. I laugh too hard to resist when he shoves the mic at me.
“One song,” I warn.
By the end, we’re both breathless from laughing. He looks at me, eyes soft.
“I missed this,” he says.
I don’t respond. But deep down, I did too.
Day Seven: The Rooftop
Our final date is on a rooftop, fairy lights strung around us. The city glows beneath us, and for a moment, it feels like we’re the only two people in the world.
Min Ho turns to me, looking nervous for the first time. “Did I do enough?”
I exhale. “Min Ho…”
He shakes his head. “Wait. Before you say anything—I just need you to know. I love you. I never stopped.”
My heart clenches. “I know.”
He steps closer. “Do you still love me?”
I hesitate. Not because I don’t know the answer, but because I do.
“Yes,” I whisper.
Min Ho lets out a shaky breath. “Then let me be better for you.”
I bite my lip. “You already are.”
His lips crash into mine, and just like that, I know—
We’re going to be okay.

I miss poppy and mark still and I miss that version of joe (and always bookstore joe) but that joe please he was such an idiot😭 I miss him and this is all your fault (said with so much love bye going to reread everything (again))
ok so it took me a good second, but, here you go bby <3 to the girls unfamiliar with poppy and mark: maybe have a look here Wordcount: 2.3K
---
Won’t Say It Until You Will
Sometimes you still don’t quite understand how you’ve gone literal years thinking Joe couldn’t fucking stand you.
You’d gotten so used to his stand-offish demeanor. To the arrogant smirks you’d catch just before he’d bite them back, just in time for Poppy or Mark to notice. To his overall unapproachability, and the heavy judgment that would drip off of him.
For years you thought you didn’t like Joe, simply because you were convinced Joe didn’t like you.
Didn’t like you as a person.
As Mark’s friend.
As someone that, through Mark falling for Poppy, was going to be in his life now.
You think you’re still adjusting to the sudden change. And the change was definitely sudden. Learning that, actually, Joe was trying to keep as much distance as he possibly could for the exact opposite of what you thought had been quite the shock. You might be adjusting for a while longer, still.
Which makes sense.
It is all quite the adjustment.
Joe used to be so weird around you, and you were always left to figure out why all by yourself.
The big difference now, though, is that every time Joe sees that you doubt yourself in whatever interaction you have with him, he’s quick to set the record straight.
He’s not allowed to say I love you yet.
You have to say it first for it to feel normal. Granted, barely anything about how this started feels normal to begin with. But this is something you hold onto. You tell him to shut up all the time, because you have come to know this look Joe will throw you.
This soft, adoring sort of dreamy stare Joe has a hard time containing. It’s truly quite something to be looked at like you’re the single best thing in current existence to someone. Like you’ve got shimmery diamonds and liquid gold where your heart should be.
It’s a shame it makes you frown the way it does.
“Shut up.” You’ll warn before he’s even gotten the chance to say anything.
And Joe used to reply with, “I didn’t say anything.”
That has since changed to a very dopey, a very smiley, “Okay.” that makes your nose scrunch.
Joe knows the rule.
Won’t say it until you will, no matter how many times the words will pop into his head and will beg to be released into your ears via his mouth. It’s nothing short of agony, because there’s moments where you’ll look at him like you used to. Before. When he kept his distance and would say the wrong thing, crack an unfunny joke that accidentally hurt your feelings, and – God, if he could just say those words and put your mind at ease the way the so desperately wants to...
He’s found different ways.
Has had to find different ways.
If you can’t hear the words, that’s fine. He’ll make you feel them just the same.
When you get into bed, one night, over at Joe’s place, you suddenly pause, halfway in.
“What?” Joe asks, already sort of smiling at your expression as he slides his legs under the covers on his side of the bed.
“Remember when...” you start, and immediately Joe’s aware that this can go one of two ways. You could either end up a giggling heap underneath the covers, or he’s going to end up kissing you silly to reassure every doubt from your mind.
You glance at one of his wardrobe doors and squint your eyes a little.
Joe’s scared it’s going to be the latter of the two options.
“I’ve actually never seen you wear that shirt again– have you...” you don’t finish whatever you were about to ask, and instead walk around the bed to check something. To see for yourself.
“What shirt?” Joe asks, sat up in bed, both hands in his lap over the covers, tongue pushing into his cheek as he watches you open the wardrobe.
You’re met with a meticulously well-organised row of shirts, jackets– Joe’s even got all of his trousers and jeans folded over hangers. All pressed and ironed, ready to make Joe look far smarter than he’ll feel.
You used to fall for it all the time, but you’ve since learned to see through most of it.
“How often do you get rid of clothes?” you ask, hands filtering through.
“All the time,” Joe says a little sheepishly, and jokingly adds, “You know I really only like... three things.”
Joe watches you filter through hangers at lightning speed, metal wire gliding over the rod and clanging together in your search.
You’re looking for something specific. Unsure of what made the thought pop into your head, you’d just remembered a specific shirt Joe wore once and wanted to see if he still had it. If there was maybe a reason why you hadn’t seen him wear it ever since that one night.
And, morning.
“Hmm... it’s not here.”
“What shirt are you even talking about?”
You throw Joe a look over your shoulder, eyes squinted, and for a moment you look like you’re contemplating something. Like you’re milling something over.
Then, suddenly, Joe gets it. He knows exactly what you’re looking for, and is immediately embarrassed.
“Oh. Yea, no. Do you mean the white– my white button down? I, um… that shirt, it’s… you’re right, it’s not– it’s not there.”
Joe stutters through a bad excuse, and for an actor, he’s a fucking terrible liar. You shove aside some of his jackets, and then…
“Come back to bed, please.”
There it is.
The white button down shirt you were looking for.
You grab the hanger and pull it out, ready to happily show Joe you found it, but as you move the fabric into the light, you notice it.
See it.
“Found i– oh, my God…”
This is the shirt Joe wore to Mark and Poppy’s wedding shower. The one he said he’d get dry cleaned after he wiped your face with the sleeve, after he dabbed both your make-up covered cheeks. The one of which he’d pulled the cuff into his palm to get the fabric real close under your eyes to get rid of the wet mascara that had traveled there through tears.
You’d shown him the brown and black marks right after he’d done it, and he’d said he was going to get it dry-cleaned.
“Joe, what the…”
You’re holding a dirty shirt.
Had this stains not come out?
Clearly not.
You’re both looking at a dirty shirt. At old make-up stains that… well, this shirt is ruined. Your eyes quickly glance at the tag in the collar, and you wince.
That is too expensive of a brand for a shirt to be ruined like this.
This is the reason why you hadn’t seen Joe wear it again.
You’d ruined his shirt.
God, and you had even told him that next day, that next morning, that a regular cycle in a machine wash was going to get the stains out fine.
Obviously, it hadn’t.
Because you’re staring at caked blotches of bronzer and dark streaks of mascara and– ... you can feel how you shrink in on yourself, stood there, in his bedroom, with a stupidly expensive badly stained shirt he’d been hiding from you because he hadn’t been able to get it clean and–
Upon the sight of your face dropping, Joe gets out of bed, careful not to make any sudden movements.
“Um.. I’ll have that.”
Two slow hands come into vision and carefully take the hanger from your grip.
“Thanks.”
The shirt, in all its dirty glory, gets gently put back in its place, hidden behind Joe’s jackets, before Joe closes the wardrobe doors entirely.
“Sorry,” is all you can think to say, voice small, a little wobbly. “I’m sorry, I thought… I ruined your shirt. That should’ve come out in the wash. Sorry. I will– I’ll replace it. I’ll–”
“No you won’t.”
You drop both your shoulders just as Joe grabs hold of both of them. His grip is strong enough to bring you into the room a bit more.
“And don’t look at me like that. I didn’t… that’s… I’ve never washed it.”
What?
“You didn’t ruin the shirt. It’s just unwashed.”
Joe softly chuckles at your face and you get lead back to bed as you try to puzzle together what you’ve just been told. What that even means.
There had been plenty of whispered conversations, late at night chats in the dark, where Joe would reassure you that he had never hated you. The outward dislike had always been an awful way to hide how he really felt, and Joe was going to be kicking himself until the end of time for how that had always make you feel.
Joe is never going to be able to make it right, he thinks.
But he can fucking try.
“That’s…”
“Disgusting? Yes. Absolutely.”
He’ll die trying.
“Why haven’t you…”
You’re scared to finish the question because you fear you already know the answer.
“Didn’t want to. So don’t worry about it.”
You get tucked in as your worries easily get dismissed, but it’s difficult to make your confused frown disappear.
Joe sighs when you keep looking at him like that, sits down on the edge of the bed next to you and goes, “You’ll make fun of me. But... that’s the… that’s what I wore when you slept in my bed for the first time. It’s not ruined. Washing it would ruin it, actually.”
Everything about that is confusing and will take a minute or two for you to process. Now, here, in the moment, it just makes you grimace with horror, and that in and of itself makes Joe laugh. Makes his eyes twinkle as he bites into his lip, head titled back and to the side a little.
He can’t really help it.
“To be fair... you were never meant to find that. Can you not tell Poppy?”
“Okay. I won’t tell Poppy.” You easily agree.
“But you’ll tell Mark?”
“But I’ll tell Mark.”
Joe drops his head forward in a silent laugh. Of course you will tell Mark.
And, that’s fine. Because it’s a memory he’ll cherish forever, even if you were violently drunk that night, and your hair still smelt of vomit even though Mark’s mum had really done her best to rinse most of it out. You had found Joe’s bed on your own, and had pulled him in to nap with you and– ...he doesn’t think that it was the exact moment where things changed a little, but it was a moment momentous enough to want to keep a souvenir.
It’s why he never washed the dirty button down shirt that proved to him he hadn’t dreamt it up.
He’ll never tell you how he also still has the empty yoghurt carton he had found in his kitchen after you’d left the next morning.
And he’ll also ignore the weird fall out you had after when he lied to Poppy about it. That’s not part of the memory.
Only the good stuff.
Like how he’d barely slept at all.
How he’d gotten to stare at you all night long.
How he’d finally, after hours of collecting courage, had softly let one of his fingertips stroke along the skin of your arm.
How that made you hum contently in your sleep.
If he thinks about it for too long, he could easily make himself cry. Looking at you now, all relaxed into the pillows of his bed, he could make himself cry.
When Joe looks at you a little too long without saying anything, dopey grin and all, your frown only deepens.
“Shut up.”
Joe knows it was bound to be said, but it still tickles him and he lets a throaty laugh escape him before he turns faux-serious.
“Ah. It’s made a return.” Joe scans your features and talks like he’s in a film, speaking to a villain. “That face. Are you even aware of how powerful it is? Makes me feel how much my soul wants to escape my body.”
That gets a little grin out of you, and it’s cute enough for Joe to want to tell the whole entire world how much he loves you. He wonders if you know how much it pains him. How often he can feel the scratch of the words in his throat, the violent urge to just let them free ever present.
But he won’t.
You’d just told him to shut up, so he will shut up, and instead will let those three words seep out in other ways. Through his hands that wander up to your neck. Through his fingers that swipe under your jaw, tipping your head back a little so he can easily kiss you.
You happily accept his kisses, because even though you’re still adjusting to all these little changes in your truth, it all ultimately means that Joe really, really likes you.
Really, really, really likes you.
And of course you know it’s more than that to Joe.
And that he really wants to tell you already.
But he’s not allowed.
Not yet.
Which is fine. He can just kiss you. And he will. Like he’s doing right now.
Joe still can’t quite believe he’s kissing you in his bed, and he can’t believe there was ever a time where he wasn’t.
When he pulls back, still sat on the side instead of under the covers with you, he hovers over you a little. Gives you a quiet moment, just in case you want to tell him.
And you will.
With time.
But not now.
“Shut up.” you repeat, giggling now at how lovesick he looks, and Joe can’t help grin in the way that he does.
He used to reply with, “I didn’t say anything.”
Instead he says, “Okay.” and goes for another kiss when he sees your nose scrunch.
Joe knows the rule.
Won’t say it until you will.

“Now, this is more like it!” You gasp, beelining for the wall to look at them. Postcards of sandy beaches, snowy mountains, and everything in between. Pictures of a younger and current Bradley with whom you assumed were his fellow Navy buddies, smiling wide for the camera like he’s having the time of his life. A few more older photos of a woman and a man who looks just like Bradley with a kid who you assumed was Bradley. - this is SO cute! it really fits bradley too because this is something that he can easily move around with him, but still means so much in such a perfect way
She found out he’d been seeing another girl behind her back the whole time, kicked his ass to the curb, tipped Bradley off on the open spot in the complex, and Bradley swooped in to nab the place before the cheating son of a bitch could even blink. - why is this something i would do (i’ve done this to a lesser extent oops)
“And what do you think of me now?” He asks softly, settling his chin in the palm of his hand as he meets your gaze intently. There go your nerves again, swirling in the pit of your stomach like a whirlpool threatening to suck you in. - CHIN IN HIS PALM BIG COW EYES LOOKING BACK AT YOU 🥰
“I like that.” I like you, he wants to say. He doesn’t. - AHHHH BRADLEY 🤭 PLS
A broken thermostat meant going downtown for dinner and drinks at some new restaurant “just to try it out”, a leaky sink resulted in him guilting you into a Mission: Impossible marathon. - i like that they use the repairs in her apartment as an excuse to hang out, it’s so perfect
You give yourself a quick once over in your phone camera, smoothing down any flyaway hairs before hitting the answer call button. - so real, so me. but also him facetiming EVEN WHILE DEPLOYED!?!
Pretty. Bradley thinks you’re pretty. - this was SO CUTE AHHH
First he calls you pretty, now he’s calling you sweetheart. He’s getting bolder. You aren’t sure if that means he feels the same way about you, or if it’s just his personality. - girl bffr (i would think the same thing tho so i can’t really talk hehe)
“Five bucks it’s his girl from back home,” Payback chimes in, smirking knowingly. - HIS GIRL 🤭
You aren’t sure if you should hug him but you do anyway, wrapping your arms around his neck, breathing in his achingly familiar cologne. - i LOVE a hug like this
“Yeah. Thought maybe it’d be fun if I send you one of these every time I’m deployed and you could start your own wall. That way whenever I’m gone and you miss me, it’ll—I dunno…remind you I’m coming home?” He finishes awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. - STOP IT! this is so cute wow! also i really like how you incorporate bradley’s mannerisms like rubbing the back of his neck, scratching his cheek
“As much as I want to—y’know, and I do, can we just…have a quiet night? I wanna take things slow, make sure everything is perfect.” - he says with lip gloss on his cheeks!! ugh i’m swooning! this ending was very them and i think it’s perfect

You shouldn’t be so nervous for coffee with Bradley as you are right now. You’ve already changed your outfit at least twice, sifted through your pantry for a suitable accompaniment to coffee so many times you’ve lost count, and as the clock ticks its way to noon, genuinely debated on making an excuse to bail.
A few careful deep breaths clears your mind a little, reminds you that no, you aren’t going to bail on Bradley. You’re going to see this thing through if it’s the last thing you ever do, fight or flight response be damned.
You’re a jumble of nerves as you finally make your way over to his apartment, just like the first time you met him.
Only this time it isn’t because you were afraid he was an asshole (you know now that he was the in fact opposite), but because your crush on him has grown tenfold just overnight.
See, you’d spent a good chunk of the time you were meant to be asleep last night on the phone chatting with him about anything and everything, never a lull in the conversation until the sun started to peek through the curtains and the birds began their daily morning song.
He’d sounded sad when you announced you had to grab a few hours of shut eye, but murmured a soft see you later that had your heart thudding a little faster in your chest.
Maybe you even buried your face in a pillow and squealed a little the moment you hung up, but he doesn’t need to know that.
You knock on his door firmly, shifting the package of Oreos from hand to hand nervously as you wait.
The door swings open to reveal a smiling Bradley, and suddenly all your worries seem to fade away.
He’s wearing jeans and a well-fitting Hawaiian shirt this time, which would’ve looked tacky as hell on anyone else, but Bradley found a way to pull it off. He still looks way too damn good for someone who’d been up the whole night.
“Hey!” He exclaims, beckoning you inside with a smile. You mirror his smile, but before you can return his greeting, he brings you into a hug. He smells of fresh laundry and sea breeze and something heady that you can’t quite put your finger on but like nonetheless. “Long time no talk.”
You let out a huff of amusement. “Right, because seven hours is just such a long time.”
“Sure felt like forever,” He replies, reaching around you to shut the door. His arm grazes against the small of your back as he does, a fleeting touch that still manages to make you shiver. Maybe Bradley notices, because he lets his hand linger for another second, expression shifting into something softer as he eases the cookies out of your hands. “This for me?”
“Uh, yeah! I hope you like Oreos, ‘cause it’s really all I had,” You say sheepishly, folding your arms around yourself in an awkward attempt to seem normal.
“I love Oreos. Thank you.” He bobs his head quickly. “Anyways, welcome, come on in, make yourself at home.”
Bradley’s apartment has the same layout as yours, but other than that it looks like a completely different place.
While you’d decorated your space with all sorts of odds and ends, posters and paintings and a plethora of knick knacks adorning your shelves, Bradley’s is…kind of empty, save for a few sports posters and some workout gear scattered in the hallway leading to the bedroom. A piano sits over by the window that gives the place some character, but other than that it doesn’t really look like this is anyone’s home.
It’s as if he feels you taking in your surroundings, because he chuckles awkwardly, reaching up to scratch the back of his neck. “It’s plain, I know. Definitely won’t be winning any awards for interior design.”
“Oh, I dunno, the minimalistic look is really in these days,” You hum, shrugging nonchalantly.
“You’re too nice to me. I’m not here a lot of the time, so I haven’t really done the whole ‘making it feel like home’ thing yet. I’ll get to it though.” He admits, kicking aside a lone pair of shorts. “Anyways, uh—forget this, why don’t we keep moving on into the kitchen?”
The kitchen is much more interesting than the rest of the apartment, mainly the wall of postcards and photos next to the fridge that catch your eye immediately.
You feel Bradley’s presence come up behind you, hear him inhale a sharp breath. “Those are my parents.”
“You look just like your dad.”
“Yeah, that’s what everyone says.”
“And your mom is beautiful.”
“She was.” You know better than to pry any further than that. One day, maybe, but not any time soon. He sniffs once, then clears his throat. “You, um, you want some coffee?”
You leave the wall to come settle on one of the barstools across the counter from him, propping your chin up in your hand as he pulls open a cabinet. “Ah, the infamous coffee maker! Damn that thing is huge.”
“Don’t come for me, but I’ve still only figured out how to make one thing,” He warns, pointing at you with a mug. “Hope you like black coffee, ‘cuz that’s all you’re getting.”
“Black coffee is perfect.”
“I have milk if you take yours with some. Only almond milk though. Supposed to be better for the bones, according to Hangman.” Bradley nods his head towards the fridge. “S’in there if you need it, help yourself.”
“First the machine, now the milk—this Hangman must be a trustworthy guy if you take all your coffee tips from him.”
Bradley laughs, a loud belly laugh that sends a tumbling feeling through your chest. “Dude’s a total knucklehead, but he means well. I think you’d like him.”
“What’s that thing they say about a person’s friends being a reflection of themselves?” You muse teasingly, tilting your head.
“I know you didn’t just call me a knucklehead!”
“Your words, not mine.” You lift one shoulder, letting it drop with a look of feigned innocence.
“Funny.”
As always, conversation with Bradley is never dull. Even though you’d talked for hours on end the night before, there is no shortage of stories to be told, life stories shared over coffee and Oreos like you’ve known each other forever.
Somehow you wind up here, talking about how you both ended up in the same apartment complex. You’d found this place on your own and were immediately sold on it. It was affordable, not too small but not too big, and quiet enough for you. Seemed like a perfect deal had fallen right into your lap.
Bradley, on the other hand, had found it a completely different way. His friend Nat had been going out with a total douchebag of a guy who just so happened to be looking for a place at the same time Bradley had been, sharing his apartment hunt findings with her.
She found out he’d been seeing another girl behind her back the whole time, kicked his ass to the curb, tipped Bradley off on the open spot in the complex, and Bradley swooped in to nab the place before the cheating son of a bitch could even blink.
“You did not!” You gasp, covering your mouth with your palm in shock.
“I did!” Bradley laughs, nodding enthusiastically. “Never liked the guy anyways. And what was he gonna do, confront me about it? Dude was a total coward, he wasn’t gonna come accuse me of jack shit!”
“You’re smart, Bradshaw, I’ll give you that.”
“Apparently not smart enough to know that my mail was being sent to the wrong apartment for months. Again, I’m really sorry about that.”
“It wasn’t a big deal, I keep telling you that,” You insist, shaking your head. “I didn’t mind, really.”
“How come you didn’t tell me earlier?”
“Honestly? I thought you were kinda scary,” You admit sheepishly, ducking your head in embarrassment.
It feels silly even admitting it, knowing now who Bradley actually is doesn’t fit your perception of him by a long shot. But at the same time, admitting it feels somewhat freeing, like you’re letting go of someone you never knew to make way for someone you’d really love to get to know more.
Bradley’s eyes widens, mouth falling open just the slightest bit in shock. “Scary? Me?”
“Yes, you! I dunno if you’ve seen yourself from another person’s eyes, but you look intimidating! You’ve got that whole big tough guy look going on, and I’m not great with confrontation.”
“And what do you think of me now?” He asks softly, settling his chin in the palm of his hand as he meets your gaze intently. There go your nerves again, swirling in the pit of your stomach like a whirlpool threatening to suck you in.
You inhale a deep breath, letting it come back out as a sort of breathy chuckle. “I think you’re not at all what I thought you’d be.”
“In a good way or a bad way?”
“I haven’t decided yet.”
“Anything I could do to sway the odds in my favor?”
Your mouth is suddenly drier than a desert despite all the liquid you’ve been downing, palms clammy against the ceramic of the mug clutched in your grasp.
You aren’t ready to answer that question, even though you already have an inkling of the things he could do. So you do the only thing you could think of to get yourself out of this situation. You change the subject.
“I…um—I really loved the chandelier when I took a walk through of the place,” You blurt, jerking your chin over at the sleek fixture above the dining area to draw Bradley’s attention to it. “Really brings the whole place together. Or, it would if mine would stop flickering all the damn time.”
His face falls just the tiniest bit at the sudden change of subject, but his features twist in curiosity within a split second. “Wait, really?”
“Yeah, yours doesn’t?”
“No, mine’s been fine since I moved in. Have you tried taking a look at it, see what’s wrong?”
You offer him a sheepish smile, bashful now. “This is really embarrassing, but I’m—I’m kind of scared that it’s gonna fall on me if I mess with it. Y’know, revenge of the light fixtures and all that?” Bradley’s mouth lifts at the edges, and you could tell he’s fighting another smile. “Don’t laugh at me! It’s a legitimate concern!”
“Not laughing!” He clears his throat, giving his head a little shake to keep his composure. But even then, there’s no mistaking the amusement in his eyes. “Chandeliers are very scary.”
“I knew I shouldn’t have said anything,” You groan, hanging your head. Bradley’s soft chuckle brings a flaming warmth to your cheeks.
“I could…take a look at it, if you want?”
Your head whips up to stare at him. “Right now?”
“Today, yeah. If you’re free after this, I mean.” He shrugs, giving the spoon in his cup a few stirs.
“For real?”
“I have tools. I’ll take a look, see if it’s an easy fix and if not, we can call maintenance.”
“You’re walking a slippery slope, Bradley Bradshaw. If you can get the chandelier working again there’s no guarantee I won’t be calling you for every other household problem in the future.”
“No complaints here.”
After you’ve both finished your coffee, Bradley grabs his toolbox from under the stairs, and now you’re both standing in the entryway of your own apartment. You feel him taking in your space the same way you did his, your cheeks flaming hot at the clutter of things all around.
“It’s usually a lot tidier than this, I swear. I’ve just had a lot of deadlines at work and I haven’t gotten the chance to put everything back in its place.”
Bradley just smiles, giving a noncommittal shrug. “S’no big deal. I like it.” Everything he got from spending more time with you, he could see it reflected in your space. And as cliche as it sounded, he felt more at home here than he did in his own apartment.
He sets his toolbox down, grabbing a set of pliers and hopping up on the table with ease to poke around the chandelier for a while before fiddling with something.
He climbs back down, wiping his hands on the front of his jeans and tossing the tool back into the box, planting his hands on his hips. “Looks like one of the wires was just a little loose. The bad connection caused it to flicker, but I tightened it a bit so it should be fine now. Maybe try it and see?”
You hurry over to the light switch, flicking it on hopefully. Normally it would start to flicker immediately, but when ten seconds go by and the light shines bright, you beam. “So you’re an electrician too, huh?”
“Hardly. One of my buddies is though. Sometimes he needs an extra set of hands so I tag along with him, see what I can learn.”
“Well either way, you’re a godsend!”
“Just glad I could help.”
“Let me cook you dinner! I have—” You exclaim, shuffling over to the fridge and pulling it open only to be met with nearly bare shelves, save for a few containers of old fruit and condiments. “—nothing. I have nothing, because I was supposed to go to the store yesterday. Well, this is embarrassing!”
Bradley had followed you to the kitchen, sliding onto one of the barstools coolly. “No, this is all very reassuring, ‘cause I’ve been meaning to go shopping too but I keep putting it off. Glad to see I’m not the only one with poor weekly grocery trip skills.”
“I’m sure that was meant to be reassuring, but it really just makes us both sound sad,” You groan, slumping over onto your own stool.
“Your words, not mine,” Bradley chuckles, echoing your earlier words with a cheery smile.
You roll your eyes playfully. “Okay, I can fix this!” You exclaim, holding up a finger as you open UberEats on your phone. “We could do Thai, burgers, pizza—”
“You don’t have to buy me dinner, really, I’m just happy I could help.”
“You can say no all you want, Bradley, it doesn’t really matter to me. You’re staying for dinner, and we can either compromise and get something we both want, or I’ll order something you hate,” You insist, trying to sound as firm as you could.
“You don’t give up easily, do you?”
You grin at him, eyes alight with mischief. “No, I don’t.”
“I like that.” I like you, he wants to say. He doesn’t.
“What’ll it be then?”
“I wouldn’t say no to some pizza. Got a six pack back in my fridge I could bring over too, if you want.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“Of beer, that is,” He adds. “No relation to my giant package.”
“Oh, you asshole! You swore you’d never bring that up again!” You huff, leaning over to swat at him. Bradley dodges you easily, an easy smile playing at his lips.
“Okay, okay! I won’t say anything else about it, I promise.”
“You’re lying.”
“Yeah I’m totally lying.”
-------
And so it began, a saga of texting Bradley to see if the things in his apartment were as defective as yours, him coming over to help fix various things, and you scrambling to show your utmost appreciation for his help.
A broken thermostat meant going downtown for dinner and drinks at some new restaurant “just to try it out”, a leaky sink resulted in him guilting you into a Mission: Impossible marathon (and a whole lot of insisting the main character looked exactly like one of his Navy higher ups).
That soon turned into you and Bradley spending more and more time at each other’s places, doing fuck all but enjoying each other’s friendship. And over time, that friendship grew a bit more-than-friends-like—he’d always flirt with you, you’d flirt right back—but neither of you had the guts to do anything about it.
Lingering glances, brushing hands that lasted a little too long to be innocent, inside jokes only the two of you were privy to. You’re almost positive he feels the same way about you as you do him, but every time you want to act on it, you chicken out. You've never been one for putting yourself out there, and that hasn’t changed.
You’re about to turn in for the night today, going to close the window in your bedroom only to realize that the lock on the frame isn’t sliding into place the way it usually did.
After jiggling it a few times to see if it would prove a quick fix and finding that it most certainly doesn’t fix a thing, you reach for your phone, instinctively sending off a quick message to Bradley without even really having to think about it.
y/n: quick question! what should i do if my window won’t lock?
Not five minutes after you hit send, your phone buzzes, Bradley’s name flashing across the screen for a video call.
It’s odd, because usually when you text about something in your apartment not working the way it's supposed to, he just shoots back a message saying he’ll be right over. It’s nighttime, so you were honestly kind of looking forward to seeing him in his grey sweats and bicep hugging black tee combo.
You give yourself a quick once over in your phone camera, smoothing down any flyaway hairs before hitting the answer call button. There’s a few beats of nothing as the call connects, but he’s on your screen soon enough, somewhere you don’t recognize and half-shrouded in the dark like he’s under something.
“Something’s wrong with your window?” He asks, brow creased in concern.
“Hi to you too, Bradley.”
“Sorry, hi. But your window, is the lock broken?”
“I think so? Usually when I go to turn the plastic lock thingy it clicks into place, but I tried it like four times and it’s not clicking, so…” You trail off, pouting. “D’you—I mean, are you busy right now? Would you mind popping over to take a look?”
“Shit, I’m sorry, I’m actually not home right now. Won’t be for another few weeks.” Bradley frowns, scratching at his cheek. “I’m overseas.”
“Oh my god, Bradley! I’m so sorry, I didn’t know!”
“No, you’re good! If I was home, I’d be over in a heartbeat, but uh, unfortunately,” He sighs, gesturing vaguely at his surroundings. “Here, flip the camera. Lemme see if I can see what’s wrong from here.”
“Are you sure?” You ask, gnawing on your lip. It seems wrong, still having Bradley be your on-call maintenance guy even when he’s somewhere probably a thousand miles away. But he nods enthusiastically so you oblige, flipping the camera so it’s facing the seemingly broken lock.
You watch him blink a few times and squint at the fuzzy video screen for a little bit before sighing again.
“Sorry, Y/N. I can’t see shit from here.”
“Yeah no, it’s fine.” You shrug, flipping the camera back to face you. You prop your phone up on your windowsill, settling into a more comfortable position to chat with him. “Where overseas are you?”
“Afraid that’s classified, ma’am.” He bows his head in apology, but there was a teasing smile on his face. “See, I could tell you. But then I’d have to kill you.”
You let out an amused chuckle. “Oh, really?”
“Unfortunately. And you’re too pretty to meet that end, so I’m gonna have to keep my whereabouts a secret to save us both the hassle.”
Pretty. Bradley thinks you’re pretty.
You have to fight the smile threatening to break your composure. “How gracious of you.”
“Isn’t it? I surprise myself sometimes,” He sighs good-naturedly, looking all too pleased with himself. “But seriously, talk to the super about your window, have them get the maintenance guy to take a look. Don’t think I’ll be able to sleep til it gets fixed.”
“Aw, you worried about me, Bradley?” You tease, pouting playfully at him.
He rolls his eyes. “You know I am.”
“I’ll call the super tomorrow.”
“Not today?”
“I’ll let you know if someone breaks in through my third floor window.”
“Hey, you never know! People are stealthy,” Bradley protests, shifting to a sitting position and subsequently hitting his head on the bunk above him. He lets out a hiss of pain, rubbing the top of his head with a grimace.
“Some people are, but you’re definitely not,” You snicker, to which Bradley gives you another eye roll. “Are you about to go to bed?”
“I was gonna, but I’d much rather talk to you.”
That nearly makes you swoon. God, Bradley is good with his words. Damn him.
“Go to sleep, I’ll let you know when it’s fixed. Wouldn’t want you worrying your pretty little head about me all night.”
“Pretty little head,” He echos, tilting said pretty little head to the side.
“It’s, uh, it’s just a figure of speech,” You insist, feeling your cheeks grow embarrassingly warm. Funny how they always do that whenever you’re talking to him. Or thinking about him. Or thinking about talking to him.
Bradley just smiles again. “Sure is.”
“Goodnight, Bradley.”
“Night, sweetheart. I’m expecting that text to be there when I wake up.” He hangs up before you can register the nickname, but you can’t stop the giddy grin breaking across your face when you do.
First he calls you pretty, now he’s calling you sweetheart. He’s getting bolder. You aren’t sure if that means he feels the same way about you, or if it’s just his personality. Even after you’d known him for almost six months, you still can’t tell.
-------
Bradley rouses from his sleep at five on the dot, throwing himself into his Navy enforced routine until lunchtime, when he could finally sit down and check his phone. Upon powering it back on and glancing at the homescreen, he sees that he has two notifications from you. One of them is a selfie of you beaming next to your newly fixed latched window, sending him a thumbs up.
Shit, you’re so pretty. It makes his heart ache to be away from home this time, not able to help you when you need it.
The other is a text to accompany the photo.
y/n: window is fixed. hope you sleep well tonight knowing no stealthy people are gonna break in :)
He snorts softly, a smile overtaking his face as he taps out a reply.
bradley: i won’t worry my pretty little head about it anymore.
y/n: you better not be texting me from the jet!!
bradley: and so what if i was? i’d call it multitasking.
y/n: i’d call it damn stupid, lieutenant. can’t have my handyman ditching me, so come home in one piece, k?
“Now who in the world could you be texting that’s got you cheesin’ like a big ol’ idiot right now?” Hangman’s voice drawls from across the table, drawing Bradley’s attention away from his phone and to the rest of the squad, who all look at him with the same expectant expressions.
“Five bucks it’s his girl from back home,” Payback chimes in, smirking knowingly.
“I’ll take that action, please and thank you,” Fanboy replies, smacking his hand into Payback’s for a shake to seal the deal.
“She’s not my—have you guys been creeping on my texts?”
“Well, not creeping per se,” Phoenix reasons, holding her hands up in defense. “I was only trying to send myself that picture of Bob sleeping with that marker mustache when she texted.”
Bob makes an incredulous noise, head whipping towards his front seater. “You guys said there were no pictures!”
“Nothing, nevermind,” She hums, waving him off. “Back to the subject at hand. Y/N. Rooster’s girl.”
“How d’you know her—hold on, how the fuck did you get into my phone?”
“Your password is your birthday, dumbass. You should really change it, by the way. Cybersecurity is no joke.”
“Whatever. She’s not my girl, by the way. If any of you cared to know. We’re just…friends.”
“See that hesitation between just and friends? Bradshaw’s a liar!” Hangman whoops, drumming his fingers on the table. “He wants to be her boyfriend!” That last word comes out a teasing singsong, making Bradley roll his eyes. He’s right, of course, but he doesn’t need everyone knowing that.
“Real mature, Hangman. Real mature.”
“Can’t argue with the truth, Rooster.”
-------
You soon discover that life is pretty boring without Bradley around. There’s nobody to bother when you get bored, nobody to make dumb jokes while you watch a movie, nobody to force you to go out even though you don’t want to. Bradley was always the one to do all those things with you, and he isn’t here. Sure, you’re still able to text and talk, but it isn’t the same. You miss him.
So when your doorbell rings and you aren’t expecting anyone, your mind immediately goes to Bradley. You quickly give yourself a once over in the mirror in the foyer, making sure you look at least halfway presentable before pulling open the door excitedly.
Bradley’s already beaming when your eyes land on him, but his smile gets even wider as he takes you in. He looks the same as the last time you saw him, although definitely better than he did on a grainy video screen. He’s a little tanner than you remember, shoulders a smidge broader, but still the same Bradley you’d grown some big feelings for.
“Remember me?” He jokes, shoving his hands into his pockets.
You give him a once over with a tilted head, frowning. “Sorry, no. I think you might have the wrong apartment.”
“Oh, she’s funny now!”
“Okay, ouch. I’ve always been funny, Bradshaw,” You huff, but the smile stretching your lips tells him you’re anything but annoyed. “Welcome home.”
You aren’t sure if you should hug him but you do anyway, wrapping your arms around his neck, breathing in his achingly familiar cologne. Bradley settles into your embrace almost like he’s melting, letting his nose drop into the dip of your neck as he hugs you back a little too tightly. Not that you’re complaining about it.
“Glad to be back. Missed you.” He straightens up as soon as those last two words leave his mouth, backing away almost jerkily with a hand flying to rub the back of his neck sheepishly. “I—I’m sorry. I didn’t—”
“I missed you too, Bradley.”
The edges of his mouth quirk up into the beginnings of a smile. “So me and my buddies were gonna head to our usual spot for drinks tonight, kinda like a being back stateside, welcome home type thing. I’d really like it if you came with me.”
“Oh, no, I couldn’t.” You shake your head profusely, fiddling with the hem of your sweater. Bradley’s head cocks in confusion. “It’s your time with your friends, I don’t want to impose.”
“You won’t be. I want you there, I want you to meet them all,” He insists, looking entirely sincere.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive. Come with me, please.”
You gnaw a little on your lip in contemplation, only managing to hold out a few seconds under his intense gaze before giving a small defeated sigh. “Okay. I’ll join you.”
“Great!” He beams, looking rather pleased. “Now tell me everything that happened while I was gone. And spare no detail either, I need to catch up on the complex gossip. Did that kid Andrew ever stop banging on his drums until three in the morning? Does that family across the parking lot still go on walks with their wailing baby or has that sucker settled down yet? I need to know.”
After bringing Bradley up to speed on everything, it’s time to meet his friends.
Rowdy isn’t sufficient enough to describe the Hard Deck. A Navy joint through and through, the whole place is decked out floor to ceiling with model jets and patches and other various related memorabilia.
The group Bradley leads you towards seems to be the loudest of them all, scattered out around a pool table in the back corner chatting amongst each other and looking happy to be home.
The first person to notice Bradley’s arrival is a dark haired woman with a pool cue in her hand, which she swings his way upon sight of him coming up next to her, nearly taking off his head had he not stepped back a little. “Bradshaw! Tell Bagman he’s insane if he thinks he can chug a beer in under five seconds, tell him that!”
“No, you tell Phoenix that I can do whatever I—well, hello there,” The blond man—Bagman, you assume—stops mid sentence when he lays eyes on you, dropping the offended look and aiming a pearly white smile your way. “And who might you be?”
“Not gonna happen, Hangman,” Bradley warns. He looks entirely serious about it too.
“Oh, so you’re the Hangman this guy always talks about,” You lilt, ignoring the gentle shove Bradley gives you in return.
“Aw, Roo, you talk about me?” Hangman drawls, grinning wildly. “Way to make a man blush!”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t flatter yourself.” Bradley rolls his eyes playfully, giving his head a shake before introducing you to his friends. Each of them has a unique callsign that seems to fit them perfectly. Your favorite name is Coyote because of how cool it is, but you’d never let Bradley know that.
The woman Hangman had been bickering with, Phoenix, inhales a sharp breath, her eyes bouncing between you and Bradley with barely contained glee. “Oh my god, you’re Rooster’s girl! He’s been—”
Bradley clamps a hand on Phoenix’s shoulder before she can continue, cutting her short. “Alright!” He blurts, giving her a quick few pats. He angles his head towards you, offering a guilty smile. “Sorry about her, she’s drunk. Doesn’t know what she’s talking about.”
“Move the hand or you’ll lose it, Bradshaw,” She says slowly, pinning him to the spot with a death stare. Bradley retracts his hand instantly, looking intimidated as he does so and Phoenix aims a grin your way. “He’s well trained, I promise. I think maybe you’ve had something to do with that?”
“I dunno about training, but I’ve taught him a few tricks.”
“What am I, a dog?” Bradley splutters, looking from your grin to Phoenix’s and huffing out a sigh when you both nod. “I feel attacked! This is so unfair.”
“I like you. We need to get you a drink,” Phoenix says very as-a-matter-of-factly, holding up her empty glass towards you as proof. “Any preference?”
“Surprise me?”
“Copy that.”
You watch her retreat over to the bar, casting a quick glance at your surroundings to make sure nobody is paying attention before leaning in towards Bradley, who mirrors your actions almost instantaneously.
“Rooster’s girl?” You chuckle, raising an amused brow. You’d never admit it out loud, but you like the nickname. It meant that he told his friends about you. Maybe not in the way you’d wanted them to learn about your existence, because he’d probably told them you’re just friends, but nice nonetheless.
Bradley goes positively pink in the face. “It’s, uh—s’nothing, my friends just like to mess around.”
“Okay.” You shrug trying to play it cool while simultaneously fighting the urge to squeal like a damn schoolgirl on the inside. You ought to earn some sort of medal for your performance.
You soon fall into easy conversation with Phoenix and her backseater Bob when she returns with drinks. It isn’t until Bradley finally leaves your side to go play a round of pool with some of the other guys that she props her chin up in her hand, smiling knowingly at you.
“So…you and Rooster?”
“What about us?”
“Are you guys…y’know,” She gestures vaguely in the air, tilting her head over at Bradley. “A thing?”
“Oh my god,” Bob mutters, so soft you barely even hear it. He looks mortified at his partner’s very not subtle insinuation. “Nat, you can’t just ask her that.”
“Oh no, it’s okay! We, uh—Bradley and I are just friends.”
Phoenix doesn’t look like she believes you one bit, but she just nods reassuringly. “Well, just friends or not, you’re good for him.” Then she moves onto a new topic like it’s nothing, but her words echoed in your mind.
You cast a glance over at Bradley a little ways away, where he’s chatting idly with another one of his buddies.
You’re good for him.
If anything, Bradley is good for you. He pushes you out of your comfort zone, he helps you come out of your shell. He’s the reason you’ve grown into a new person, one that the old you would never have even dreamed of becoming.
Maybe your attention lingers a little too long, because he tears his eyes away from his conversation partner to meet your gaze, lips curling up into a grin as he nods at you in acknowledgement. Even from across the bar, you can see the soft twinkle in his eyes, the fondness and warmth in his smile causing your heart to swell in your chest.
By the time you and Bradley decide to call it a night and head home, you already have an indefinite invitation to any and every squad function in the future (whether or not Bradley was present, Phoenix had added with a wink).
“So…what did you think of ‘em?”
“I like your friends. They’re nice,” You say earnestly. You mean it.
“Good. I’m glad. They really like you too, Phoenix and Bob especially,” He says casually, flicking on his blinker to turn left. You let out a pleased chuckle at that.
The two of you chat like normal the rest of the way home once you both settle back into your usual back and forth, exchanging more stories from your respective lives until Bradley pulls into his assigned parking space.
“Before I forget, I brought you back something.”
“Oh?” You raise a curious eyebrow.
He reaches over to your side of the car, fumbling around in the glove compartment for a few seconds until he procures what he’s searching for—a small postcard with a photo of a very picturesque beach. The corners are a bit bent from being shoved in there, but Bradley straightens them out as best he can before holding it out to you.
Turning it around in your hands, you spot a note in his familiar chicken scratch on the other side, much tinier than you remember but only because it details how much he hated sharing a tiny bunk with Hangman, who was an avid sleep talker when he wasn’t snoring as loud as humanly possible throughout the entire night.
One thing stands out to you though, the last sentence before he’d signed his name with a rather crooked looking smiley face—I miss you.
“This town was near where we were stationed. I was gonna mail the card, but I wanted this first one to be special.”
“Special?” You echo, tilting your head.
“Yeah. Thought maybe it’d be fun if I send you one of these every time I’m deployed and you could start your own wall. That way whenever I’m gone and you miss me, it’ll—I dunno…remind you I’m coming home?” He finishes awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck.
You try your hardest to fight the smile threatening to overtake your face as you study the card intently. It’s very sweet of him, you think, that he wants to share this tradition of his with you.
“Thank you, Bradley,” You say softly. “I love it.”
"I was hoping you would. I'm glad you do."
When he walks you right up to your door, he looks nervous, which isn't like him. You're about to ask him if he's feeling okay, but then he speaks.
“Hey, look, I—um, I’ve had a really good time these past few months, being your friend."
You frown a little. “Uh oh. Why do I feel like there’s a but coming?”
“No! I mean, yes, but also—shit, okay, lemme start over.” Bradley shakes his head as if to clear his mind, taking a deep breath before continuing. “I’ve really enjoyed being your friend, but I don’t wanna be friends anymore.”
Oh.
Your heart may as well have fallen out of your ass at his words. Bradley didn’t want to be friends with you anymore?
You must not have as good of a poker face as you mean to, because he quickly backtracks, eyes wide.
“Fuck, no that’s not what I meant, I—jesus, I meant to say that I don’t want to be just friends anymore,” He blurts, letting his hands drop to his sides. “I really missed you while I was gone. More than I should’ve. And at first I just thought it was because we’re such good friends and because of how much time we’ve spent together lately and that’s why I felt like there was this chunk of me that was missing, but I realized it was more than that. I like you. A lot. So I don’t just want to be your friend anymore, I want to be…more.”
Oh.
Bradley likes you. And you like him right back.
So, you do the only thing you can think of that will show him your feelings towards him.
You lean forward, closing the gap between the two of you and kissing him right here and now.
His palms smooth themselves down your back, fingers splayed across the expanse of it as he kisses you like his life depends on it. His mustache is scratchy, but you don’t mind one bit, not with the way he’s holding you against him, like you’re puzzle pieces slotting perfectly together at last.
You pull away first with a hand against his chest, only slightly, just enough to look him in the eye when you tell him, “I like you a lot too, Bradley.”
“Best news I’ve heard in a while,” Bradley sighs, tipping his head back with a sigh of relief. Then his brows furrow, eyes focusing above your heads. “Your light is out,” He says bluntly, squinting at the darkened bulb. “Did you know that?”
“Yeah, I know,” You chuckle. “I would’ve changed it, but the damn thing is rusted over, and my handyman has been out of town for a bit.”
Bradley snorts, rolling his eyes playfully. “Hilarious. You got a spare lightbulb? I could change it right now.”
“You could.” Now you’re feeling bold and you run with it, walking your fingers up his chest until they link around the back of his neck. “Or…you could change it tomorrow, after breakfast?”
His brows fly high at that, tongue darting out to wet his lips nervously. “Tomorrow. Like, as in, you want me to stay the night here, and stay for breakfast in the morning?”
“Well, yes. We’ve got some more catching up to do, don’t you think?” You ask innocently, though your insinuation isn’t quite so. Bradley’s inhale hitches in his chest at the silent message and he nods quickly, antsy now as you go to unlock the door.
He’s on you the moment you get the door open, lips glued to yours even as you stumble across the threshold and into the foyer.
“Wait, wait—” Bradley pants, pulling away only slightly. He’s got a hand skimming over bare skin under the hem of your top, mouth shiny with your lipgloss, and he’s telling you to wait. You raise an impatient brow. “As much as I want to—y’know, and I do, can we just…have a quiet night? I wanna take things slow, make sure everything is perfect.”
“Okay,” You say, straightening out the collar of his shirt. You can get behind taking things slow. It takes some of the pressure off you to adjust to this big change. “Wanna find a movie to watch?”
He perks up at that, grinning widely. “Hell yeah! There was some action comedy I wanted to see before I got deployed and I’m pretty sure it’s out on streaming now. Mind if we watch it?”
You won’t tell him just yet since things between you are the newest they’ll ever be, but you’d gladly watch anything with him. Instead, you just nod. “Go for it. Mind if I go change into some comfier clothes really quick?”
“Yeah, of course. I’ll be here.”
Bradley’s queued up the movie on the TV already by the time you return, setting his phone aside when he hears you come back in.
You’re not quite sure where you should sit, but then he extends a hand out towards you, beckoning you into the cozy space under his arm, and all your questions are answered. It feels like you fit right in when you nestle against him, head falling against his shoulder like its second nature to do so.
“All good?” He asks, giving you a little squeeze and a fond smile.
“Never better.”
There’s no mistaking the happy gleam in his eyes, and you’re sure you have something of the same too.
You think the whole mail mix up situation from a few months ago had been the best mistake to ever happen to you, because it led you to Bradley, who—and you might be a little forward with this thought—might just become one of the best things in your life.

Hello 👋 prompt "first calling just to say good night, but it turns into hours" for Wes Mitchell please

On the nights that Wes is away, he calls just after midnight. It doesn’t matter if he’s in the midst of an operation or bedding down in his hotel room, he never ends the day without saying goodnight. These calls, they’re his way of letting you know that he’s ok, that he’s safe.
It’s only ever meant to be a minute, a quick sweet dreams before he hits the hay but it never ends up that way because Wes, he can talk to you for hours. No matter what’s going on in that moment, the sound of your voice soothes his soul, that’s how he knows you’re the one. His life, it’s a tempestuous ship at times and you’re the port in a the storm, the lighthouse in the distance drawing him in, keeping him moored against the storm.
It's when he’s in Munich he tells you the real reason he left that morning in LA. The two of you have been talking about heading out Romai Beach to try to catch a few waves when he gets back home, he’s thinking of making a day of it.
“That morning I left, I was scared you know?” He tells you as he lies tangled up in hotel room sheets. “The things I felt with you, it wasn’t like Ella, it was a deeper connection. I could be vulnerable with you and that, that absolutely terrified me, it sent me running for the hills because I’m not use to feeling safe like that, to having someone who sees me, the real me.”
“What about now?” You ask him and he pictures you lying there in his t-shirt, hair fanned across his pillow.
“Being with you in Budapest, it’s the first time I’ve felt like I’m in the right place in a very long time.” He whispers, his hand smoothing over the empty space beside him.
“Sometimes home isn’t a place…” You remind him and Wes smiles because LA or Budapest, it doesn’t matter so long as he has you in his life, so long as you’re together it doesn’t matter where he hangs his hat.
“Sometimes it’s a person.” Wes tells you with a sincerity you feel in the depths of your heart. “And for me that person is you.”

Utah | C Keller
summary: clayton gets the call that he’s moving to utah, you’re not going with.
-
You never imagined that a single phone call could change everything. But as the news broke that the team was being relocated to Utah, it felt like the world shifted beneath your feet. You knew it was a possibility, but you never thought it would actually happen. And you certainly never thought it would tear apart everything you’d built together with Clayton.
It started innocently enough—Clayton pacing the kitchen as he told you about the team's decision, his excitement palpable in the way his eyes lit up, the grin on his face that told you he was ready for the next big chapter. The opportunity for him to shine in a fresh environment. But the more he spoke, the heavier your heart grew, the weight of reality crashing down on you.
“Clayton, I—” you cut yourself off, swallowing hard as you processed the words in your head. “This isn’t just about you. You know that, right? This is my life too.”
He paused, eyebrows knitting together. “What do you mean?”
“Arizona. My friends, my family, my job. It’s all here, Clayton. I’m not just going to pick up and leave like it’s nothing,” you said, your voice trembling despite your best efforts to hold it together.
He blinked, taken aback by your response. "It’s not like that, Y/N. This is a huge opportunity for me, for us. I thought you'd be on board."
You could feel the frustration building inside you. You had never been one to shy away from change, but this was different. You loved your life here. The career you had worked so hard to build. The people you’d surrounded yourself with. Could you really leave all of that behind for a new place, a new life, one that felt so far removed from what you had?
“I can’t just abandon everything, Clayton!” you said, your voice rising in frustration. “You think I can just drop my job and say goodbye to everyone I’ve ever known?”
Clayton’s jaw tightened, his hands fisting at his sides. “I didn’t ask you to abandon anything! I’m not asking you to quit your job. I just want us to figure this out together. But you don’t even seem willing to try!”
“You’re asking me to move to a state where I know no one, where my career means nothing, just for you,” you snapped, eyes flashing with hurt. “You want me to leave behind everything, and I don’t think you even understand what that means.”
Clayton stepped back, his eyes hardening as the silence grew between you both. He was always the one who took on the big challenges, embraced the unknown. And yet, here he was, asking you to do something you weren’t ready for.
“I don’t get it,” he muttered under his breath. “I thought we were building something together.”
You swallowed the lump in your throat. You didn’t want to tear everything down, but you couldn’t bring yourself to blindly follow him to a place that felt so foreign. You were supposed to be a team, but this... this felt like an ultimatum.
“I need time to think about this, Clayton. I can’t just give you an answer. This isn’t easy for me,” you said, shaking your head. “I can’t just pack up my whole life.”
“You’re not even trying,” he shot back, his voice rising in frustration. “I’m fighting for this. For us. And you can’t even give it a chance.”
The words stung more than you cared to admit. You had never seen him so angry, so hurt.
“I can’t do this right now,” you muttered, turning away from him. “I need some space.”
The door slammed behind him as he walked out, leaving you standing there, feeling like the weight of the world was crashing down on your shoulders.
Days turned into weeks, but the silence between you both remained. Clayton had left, moved to Utah, and the distance between you felt unbearable. You tried to keep up with your life in Arizona, but nothing felt the same without him.
You couldn’t even pinpoint when you had realized it, but the truth had settled in your heart: You missed him. You missed him more than you cared to admit. You missed the way he always made you laugh, the way he understood you better than anyone ever could. The thought of him in Utah, trying to adjust without you by his side, gnawed at you.
You needed to fix this. You had to.
It took a lot of soul-searching, but one evening, you found yourself packing a bag with nothing but a few essentials. You weren’t sure how this would play out, but you were ready to find out.
You drove to Utah with nothing but hope in your heart, praying it wasn’t too late. You didn’t know what you expected—Clayton’s reaction, the conversation, the apology that was long overdue—but you knew you needed to try.
You stood outside his new apartment in Utah, heart pounding in your chest. The nerves that had once felt so distant were now overwhelming. You knocked on the door, pacing in place as the minutes stretched into what felt like hours.
When Clayton finally opened it, his face was a mixture of exhaustion and surprise. His eyes softened when they met yours, but there was still a distance between you both that you couldn’t ignore.
“Y/N,” he whispered. “I didn’t expect...”
“I’m sorry,” you interrupted, your voice breaking. “I’ve been so scared of losing everything. But I don’t want to lose us. I can’t just pretend everything’s fine. You’re right, I should’ve been willing to try.”
Clayton stepped forward, his expression unreadable as he reached for you, pulling you into his arms.
“I’m sorry too. I didn’t handle this well, Y/N,” he murmured, his voice rough. “I was so focused on the team and this new chapter, I didn’t stop to think about what you needed. What we needed.”
You hugged him tightly, the weight of the tension finally lifting. “I don’t know what the future holds, but I want to be in it with you,” you whispered. “Let’s figure this out, together.”
He pressed a soft kiss to the top of your head. “Together. Always.”
And for the first time in weeks, you felt like you could breathe again.

it’s a secret!
in which . . . honey and their least favourite roommate don’t have a lot in common that they can talk about, other than the topic of romance, surprisingly.
or . . . kayla questions honey’s love life just in time for guy to come home from work.
cw . . . gn reader, they/them pronouns, second person pov, during the time when the two are roommates with kayla, after the confession, secret dating, honey! reader, set in university, honey is a great cook bc i said so, honey also teases guy as much as he teases them
even though you would rather be caught dead than hanging out with your third roommate, kayla happened to still be in the kitchen when you left your room to make your dinner.
when you put the ad up looking for some new roommates, you weren’t really expecting a miracle. but you were a bit annoyed the first time you opened the fridge to find your lunch taken with a note replacing it saying ‘sorry have morning class’. and then again when your laundry was all pink because she tossed in her red bra with your whites. you weren’t expecting this kind of roommate, and you were lucky when guy saw your ad around campus and hit you up after your shared elective class. he, at least, didn’t miss rent due to his job at the pizza place, and never asked you to cover.
it was better than paying for the whole thing alone, you would tell yourself.
and then you see that you have no more passata sauce and that kayla is eating tomato soup. typical.
“hey,” she calls as she stares at her phone, “you eating now too?”
“looks like it,” you respond as you try to figure out what to cook now, “what are you still doing up? you have classes in the morning.”
“yeah, well, i’m gonna skip,” she claims with shrugged shoulders, “this guy from my econ class asked me out so i’m going out. i won’t be back til late at night, he wants to take me around the city all day.”
you glance at the calendar on the fridge. it says in kayla’s chosen colour ‘DATA ANALYSIS 9:30AM - 12PM’ and right after that, in the same colour, ‘WORK 1:30PM - 7PM’. instead of asking, you just grab the base ingredients you like the look of. “enjoy yourself.”
“i will,” she hums with a smirk, “and what about you? you don’t tend to bring a lotta’ people back to the apartment.”
“all my friends have their own places,” you explain as you take out the chopping board, “we hang out in the study hall or just around campus.”
“huh, to be honest, i thought it was because you were a weird loner,” kayla says as she stirs her soup and you try not make a comment, “well, what about any new people?”
“‘new people’?” you repeat in question as you take our the pan from the cupboard.
“yeah, like…” she begins to think to herself before she leans over the counter, “any cute girls from your classes? or what about that handsome barista from the campus cafe?”
you furrow your brows at her as you gather the rest of your utensils.
“remember when we were there at the same time last month?” she begins to say, “i’m pretty sure he’s into you.”
“i barely know the guy, i’ve talked to him like twice,” you roll your eyes as she purses her lips, “even if i was interested in him, no way would i bring him to our apartment.”
you meant it as to have some decorum. it was a little remark towards her, as if to tell kayla that yes, you had been home on the weekend when her and her boyfriend at the time were getting ‘busy’. but she doesn’t catch your drift.
“yeah, that makes sense,” she speaks as she finishes up her dinner, “there’s always something going on around here.”
you begin to prepare your ingredients as you heat up the pan. kayla sat on the bench across from you, so at least she wasn’t completely in the way.
“that reminds me, your friend still hasn’t contacted me about the latch on our bathroom window,” you say as you raise a brow at her, “if the landord sees that before i can fix it—”
the door opens up and cuts you off short, revealing a dishevelled guy. his shirt was all crinkled, his shoelaces untied and his eyes were droopy. you raise a brow at him as he locks the door behind him and drags himself over.
“hello…” he grumbles out.
“hey, guy.” kayla chuckles as she sees him slump on top of the counter.
“you look like shit,” you point out as garlic goes into the pan, “what happened at work?”
“thank you so much, honey,” he sighs out as he stretches across the bench to tap your hand, “it was like every single family in dahlia decided to order pizza tonight. but it’s okay, i made good tips!”
he waves a wad of cash in the air lazily. you shake your head and continue to cook.
“speaking of ‘tips’—”
“shut it.” you cut kayla off.
“c’mon, you don’t think he’s hot?” she pries as she moves around to put her dishes in the sink, “i would totally go after him.”
“you guys talk about me like i’m not here,” guy suddenly quips, as if he’s been revived from the dead, suddenly so interested in the conversation, “so… who’re we actually referring to, hm?”
you send him a little glare as you grab the wooden spoon. guy gives you his best innocent smile and you roll your eyes.
kayla pipes up, none the wiser, “i’m telling them to go and ask out the hot barista from the campus cafe.”
“oh, the one with the piercings?” guy raises his brows.
“that one, yeah.” kayla smiles.
“ooh, he’s totally your type!” he cheers as you turn back to him and chop some more ingredients up, “why don’t you wanna’ ask him out, honey?”
it had been two weeks since guy had crashed into your room and the two of you confessed to each other. you decided to keep it a secret from kayla, just so it didn’t get awkward until you two could move out together alone.
guy wasn’t too fussed about it, he practically enjoyed sneaking around. he would sneak little letters into your bag before you would leave for work or for classes, and when you’d text him, he’d pretend he had no idea.
this little conversation was only another one of guy’s teasing moments. the glint in his eyes makes you sigh in annoyance.
“he’s not even…” you drawl on, “i don’t know, i’m not really into him.”
“well, is there anyone you are into?” kayla tilts her head.
you could practically hear guy’s little thoughts giggling. he’s probably eating all of this up, you just know it.
guy walks over to the fridge beside you and takes a soda can from the shelf. he hums happily as he opens it and begins to drink.
“i’m into my project partner from software engineering.”
your roommate beside you spits his soda all over the fridge and himself.
“really? oh, he’s really cute too!” kayla gasps as she takes her phone out of her pocket, completely disregarding her dirty dishes in the sink, “i’m mutuals with him, guy, you gotta’ see this man!”
“‘man’?” guy repeats with an offended expression. kayla shoves her phone in his face with your project partner’s instagram on screen. is this him? he’s… not that good-looking.”
“are you blind?” kayla scoffs as she steps away from the delivery man, “he’s so hot, you’re so lucky he’s your partner, i heard he’s super smart! i bet he’d be such a good boyfriend!”
“you think so?” you hum with a smile as you stir the food, “i’m meeting up with him tomorrow afternoon for the project, maybe i should ask him out.”
“yes!”
“don’t!”
you both look at guy, who has stopped wiping the soda off the fridge. his face is flushed and he looks perplexed.
“i—i mean don’t leave me out of this! i’ve got tons of ideas!” he anxiously chuckles out as he nudges your arm gently with his knuckle, “so, uh, when… do you think you’ll pop the big question?”
“i’m not asking him to marry me, idiot.” you snidely remark.
“might as well.” kayla chortles.
you could hear guy’s thoughts just by glancing to him. he’s crushed the can in his hand by accident and his eyes keep switching between you and your third roommate.
“maybe i’ll ask him out to dinner,” you hum as you shrug, “or i could take him back here and cook for him.”
“ooh, that’ll be the only guy you’ve ever taken home! i was startin’ to think that maybe nobody likes you!” kayla bumps her hip with yours, making you accidentally spill some of your cooking onto the bench next to the stove, “guy, you’d be good friends with him!”
“i highly doubt that,” he grumbles as he puts the can in his hand on the bench, “he’s probably not that cool…”
before she can reply, kayla gets a text on her phone in her pocket. as she’s distracted answering it, guy pinches your side. you elbow him in the stomach. he hunches over with a fist against the bench.
“shit, i forgot i have to stop by my friend’s dorm,” kayla claims, which you know is code for her going out all night and not coming home til the next day, “see you guys later!”
she doesn’t wait for you two to answer as she leaves, shutting the door so harsh that the walls shake. her dishes are still in the sink. you roll your eyes with a sigh and turn back to your cooking.
a second later, you feel hands on your hips.
“guy.” you warn.
“what’s wrong, honey?” he asks with his chin on your shoulder, “is somethin’ on your gorgeous little mind?”
you feel him cuddle closer to your standing position. “yeah.”
“and what is that?”
“how i’m gonna ask out my project partner.”
guy lets out a scoff as he leans back with furrowed brows. “you can’t be serious. honey, you’ve already got all my attention, why do you try irrevocably so to garner it in such a way? i—i’m hurt! wounded! you wound me!”
“well, it’ll get kayla off my back,” you explain as you grab a bowl for your food, “she won’t suspect us if i go out on one date with him.”
he pouts as he pulls away, leaning against the counter across from you. he crosses his arms with a tilt of his head. “you won’t ask him out, right? we could always just… tell kayla.”
“hell no,” you scoff, “she’d find some way to get herself outta’ paying rent. i’m not risking that. and she’d go off and tell everyone every little detail about ourselves.”
he shrugs his shoulders and watches you move your food into the bowl. “you’re right, i guess. perhaps you’ll just have to play single til we move out together.” guy offers, as if it was the only solution, “your project partner, left all alone with no honey to help him. cast aside as if he was nothing more than—than a piece of dirt on your clothes! twas a shame, really.”
“shut up,” you say as you sit down to eat, “go ‘n shower.”
“can i have some?” he asks, trying to nudge himself onto the seat with you.
“did you hear me?” you grumble as he takes your fork, “i could’ve made you some if you asked.”
“ugh, it’s so good,” he mumbles out instead of acknowledging your comment, “honey, if you ever need a husband, i am right here. i’d take such good care of you. i’m also so sexy that you could just stare at me all day and not have to worry about me.”
“could do all that and more with my pro—”
“oh, be quiet,” he chuckles as he lifts himself off your stool, “i’ll go shower, and then we can watch a movie. we don’t have any classes tomorrow.”
you hum in agreement as you watch him round your spot. guy gives you a cheeky grin before leaning into you and kissing your lips.
“don’t miss me too much.” he chimes.
“i—”
the door swings open and kayla comes barrelling through again, saying something about forgetting her car keys. guy is quick to jump away from you, hitting his hip in the process. you watch as kayla rummages around the drawers before she finds them and then leaves again. you blink and turn to guy, who is rubbing his side with a vibrant embarrassed blush covering his face.
“go shower, guy.”
“okay, honey.”

Chapter 8: Take Me Back To The Start
After Sam led Tommy away to sign the massive NDA (Buck pitied his poor, beautiful hands), Dave grabbed Buck’s wrist and began pulling him along.
”I want to show you something,” he insisted.
“I’ve already seen the gate, what more is there to see when every hallway looks exactly the same?” Buck grumbled.
With another turn down another identical hallway, Buck was now well and truly lost, “It’s down here,” Dave said.
Buck was starting to get suspicious, though. In fact, “Wait. Haven’t we…,” Dave had opened a door before he could finish his sentence, swung Buck around, and shoved him through the doorway. Buck stumbled forward and the door slammed shut, audibly locking behind him.
“You too, huh?” Tommy asked behind him.
Buck whirled around in shock to find Tommy sitting at a small table in the center of the room, “Tommy?! W-What is going on?” he asked.
“They told me to wait. The door didn’t lock until just now, so your guess is as good as mine,” Tommy shrugged and tried to look relaxed but Buck knew him well enough to tell that he was concerned about what was going on too.
At this point, Buck lost his temper, he was absolutely done with all of his friends, “Assholes! First, it’s Eddie and Hen playing keep-away with my phone when you’re bubbling me and now Dave and probably Lorne and Sam have decided to lock us in a room together? To do what?! Why am I not allowed to make my own decisions?!” Buck pounded a fist on the locked door, “Dave! You dick, let us out of here!!” When there was, of course, no response, Buck flopped down in an uncomfortable chair with a huff and decided to wait them out, temper simmering, waiting for a target.
“Buck…” Tommy muttered.
Buck jumped to his feet again and moved as far away as he could in the small room, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, “No! Fuck you! You don’t get to call me that!” he shouted in frustration.
“It’s your name,” Tommy pointed out.
“Not when you say it. Hearing the nickname I’ve used to hide from my past coming out of your mouth feels like getting stabbed in the gut every time!” Buck clutched a fist and hugged his waist, “You called me Buck on your way out the door and I lost the ability to breath. I just froze, it hurt so bad. Haven’t you hurt me enough?! Hurt us both enough?!”
Tommy looked shocked at his outburst, “I wasn’t trying to hurt you, I just….”
“What does it matter what you were trying to do when that’s what happened? I said something stupid again, I was too much, and then you bailed, just like everyone else. That’s what happened,” Buck sighed and sat back down, looking and sounding exhausted. “I gave you time ‘cause that’s what I thought you wanted,” Buck muttered. Now Tommy is the one feeling like he was being stabbed in the gut.
“You’ve had time to miss me, to miss us. I was trying to give that to you, to give us the time to think about what we really wanted. Since that night, all I’ve wanted was an adult conversation, not whatever this is,” Buck added, gesturing around the room. He huffed and crossed his arms, turning away to stare at the wall.
The room was silent, Tommy tried to think of what to say but anything he could come up with seemed inadequate and he was afraid nothing could fix this. But Tommy’s nerves were getting to him, and there wasn’t enough floor space to pace, so talking about anything that came to mind it was, “I had a conversation today. With a spaceship.”
Buck perked up and tilted his head in question, “With a spaceship? How does that work?” he leaned forward in his chair, his narrowed gaze intense.
“I have no idea. It knew about us. Both of us….I haven’t had time to freak out about that yet.” Tommy’s voice cracked, and Buck looked at Tommy, really looked at him. The calm facade was starting to break down. Buck took in a sharp breath. “I was also beamed up to another spaceship a-a couple of hours ago? Is that right? It hasn’t even been a day since I found out aliens are real and wormhole travel has been happening for years and I-I’m just…” Tommy faltered, unable to continue. He buried his head in his hands and gripped his hair.
Buck stood up and rushed over, leaning down and wrapping his arms around Tommy’s head and shoulders, “Shit. Come here. I’m so sorry.” Tommy stiffened in surprise for a moment, then melted into the embrace, burying his face in Buck’s stomach and clutching at the back of his shirt, “This is my fault. I panicked when I found out you left and I knew Dave was involved with shit but I just couldn’t-I couldn’t let you go without trying to follow and now I’ve dragged you in it with me. I’m so sorry, Tommy. Look, I’ll-I’ll talk to them. You haven’t signed anything yet and maybe if I commit to longer they’ll be happy just taking me. You can go back home to LA and the LAFD and pick back up your life. And I’ll leave you alone, I promise. You can be friends with Chim again without me there, being too much, and I’ll go to Atlantis and boss around Dave’s baby minions like he wants and I’ll be fine. I will. I’ll find a new hobby to keep myself from…well I’ll occupy myself somehow and you can just go back to your life and be happy again and mmmph!” Tommy had shoved to his feet, eyes wide and panicked, interrupting Buck with a broad hand over his mouth and an arm around his waist.
Tommy tilted his head to make eye contact with Buck, “Evan, no, that’s not what I want! Look at me, please. Do you want to go to Atlantis?” Buck’s eyes flicked away, his hands clenched into fists at his side. But, Tommy cradled his face and Buck focused on Tommy as his eyes began to sting with tears, “Evan. Do you want to go to Atlantis with me and learn how to fly ships with our minds?” Tommy took his hand off Buck’s mouth and watched his face, trying to read what he was thinking.
Buck licked his lips, chasing the taste of Tommy’s skin, “With you?” The tears fell and Tommy wiped them away.
“With me,” Tommy replied softly. He looked directly into Evan’s eyes and prayed that what he was seeing in those beautiful, blue eyes was hope.
Buck took a trembling breath, “Honestly, I’d follow you anywhere, if you’d let me. But, yes, I do want to go to Atlantis. I want to do this. I want to help them. I think it could be really good for me.”
Tommy looked at the excitement and hope sparking to life in Buck’s eyes and bobbed his head in a nod, “Yeah, for me too. Let’s go to Atlantis.”
“And we’ll talk? About us?” Buck asked hopefully.
Tommy pulls him into his arms and holds tight, “We’ll talk. I’m not angry with you about what your emails dragged me into. It’s just-it’s been a really long week and we still have more to learn. I’m overwhelmed and struggling to take it all in. And, it’s going to be ok. WE will be ok. I know we need to talk and I’m sorry I didn’t talk to you that night. I’m sorry I just walked out. I-I regretted it right away but….I wasn’t sure that I even deserved to take it back. I still think you could do better than me and the garbage I’ve been dragging around, but I’ve been informed that I’m not allowed to make decisions about what you need and deserve,” he said with a slight smirk.
“Wow. How did that happen?” Buck asked playfully with a soft chuckle.
“An old pilot with similar issues gave me a talking to and, well….when the ship talked to me in Antarctica, they asked if WE would come home. And in that moment, most of my fear just fell away. I just felt….I couldn’t imagine going without you so I knew I was going to have to talk to you, to tell you all the things I avoided talking about before, and to see if we could work out how to move forward,” Tommy said.
There was a muffled thump at the door and Buck could hear Sam ask someone why the door wouldn’t open. They separated and attempted to appear as if they hadn’t been having an emotional moment in a locked room. They had themselves mostly back to normal when an airman shoved the door open with his shoulder and turned to hold it open for Sam with a nod, “Ma’am, is there anything else I can help you with?”
“Thank you Sargeant, that will be all. Please notify Stilinski about the difficulty with the door on this room,” Sam instructed.
“Right away, ma’am,” with a salute, which Sam returned, the airman left them alone.
“Any questions before we get Mr. Kinard started on his NDA, gentlemen?”
“I just need a list of supplies I’ll need to bring with me. My bags are packed for Antarctica, I have no idea what I’ll need for a whole other galaxy,” Tommy explained.
Another man entered the room and placed a folder on the table, “Recommended reading for the Pegasus Galaxy, ma’am. Dr. Jackson put it together for new recruits, it includes a suggested packing list,” he stated, nodded at Buck and Tommy, then left again without another word.
“How-” Buck started.
“That’s Walter, he does that. The man refuses to retire. I think he’s afraid if he leaves, the place will fall apart,” Sam explained with a shrug.
“I’ll get you two a couple of tablets loaded with history of the SGC and after action reports of notable missions to add to your homework. Tomorrow, we can get started on medical and physical assessments,” Sam said with a grin.
After an eternity of signing his name to a truly terrifying document, Tommy and Buck were released from the mountain to find a hotel room, Lorne offered to set them up in visitor rooms, but with a glance at Buck, Tommy knew they needed a little more privacy tonight.
Evan was quiet on the walk to the base vehicle they were issued and opened the passenger door without discussion. “What are you thinking about?” Tommy asked.
“I started wondering about the gene, whether it was a mistake or an accident, but I don’t think it can be, so that brings up a whole list of questions that I don’t know how to find the answers to,” Buck replied absently.
Tommy frowned, “I don’t understand. How or why would the gene be a mistake or accident?”
The GPS interrupted Buck’s answer as it announced their arrival at their destination.
Buck followed Tommy into the elevator and then down the hall where Tommy stopped to slide a keycard in a door. Tommy led an oblivious Buck into the room with a hand on his arm and Buck plopped down to sit on one of the beds.
“Evan. Evan, could you explain what you mean?”
“I never told you about Daniel, my brother,” Buck said hesitantly.
“I didn’t know you had a brother,” Tommy whispered.
“I didn’t either until just a few years ago,” Buck took a deep breath to steady his nerves. “My brother Daniel had juvenile leukemia and no one in the family was a match to donate bone marrow. They decided to make one. Me. I was designed to be a match but it didn’t work and Daniel died anyway. I’m wondering now whether the gene that makes alien tech talk to me is there because Daniel had it or if it was an accident in the process. I try not to think about being created in a lab but the idea just hit me when we were walking out and wouldn’t let go. Then I realized that I never told you about him. We didn’t talk about the hard things, I guess.”
“I’m sorry that you lost your brother, but how did you not know about him until a few years ago?” Tommy asked.
“When he died, our parents essentially shut down. They moved us to another town where no one knew them or what they had done and refused to speak about Daniel again. They got rid of all of his things, swore a ten year old Maddie to secrecy, and checked out of their lives. Maddie and I raised ourselves. We were our only family and each other’s only source of affection and love. Maddie didn’t tell me about Daniel at all until she was pregnant with Jee and invited our parents to LA for a visit and even then, it was an accident. I saw a picture of a little boy who looked like me but couldn’t have been me so the whole thing came out,” Buck sighed, exhausted. “I’ll have to ask when we get our physicals if they want to check it out. The thing is, I avoided talking about my parents because Maddie still wants us all to have a relationship with each other. They try but I can’t help but think that they try because Maddie expects them to, not because they want to. I spent my entire childhood trying to get them to love me only to find out as an adult that whether they want to or not, they blame the infant me for not being able to save Daniel. So. That’s my tragic backstory, the source of most of my worst habits and biggest insecurities. Tada!!” Buck attempts a grin and manages a lopsided smile with jazz hands instead, “Your turn before I cry and this gets a million times worse.” Buck gestures at Tommy to pass on the pain dumping.
Tommy huffs a laugh at Buck’s attempt to lighten the mood, “I’m not sure where to start. You know about my father, there isn’t a specific story there….anger issues, homophobia. A man who should have never been a parent at all. I’ve got a handle on most of that, but he isn’t why I ran.”
“Could you tell me what I said to….trigger you, I guess? I know I got ahead of myself with the moving in thing but looking back, you kind of shut down at some point while I was talking?” Buck tentatively asked.
Tommy nodded and tried to feel out the words as he said them, “First, I want to say that I honestly don’t think that you being bisexual had anything to do with it, despite what it sounded like when I started throwing words at you about you figuring yourself out. I heard you ask me to move in with you and then it felt like I blacked out and was already outside trying to get home before I fell apart. I know I hurt you and I can never say sorry enough. I regret it every day.” Tommy fidgeted, restless with twitching fingers, “Okay. Um. Years ago, after Abby, when I was first out, I met Jason. He was kind and funny, and he treated me like a partner, like I was worth more than what I could do for him,” he started slowly. “I learned how I want to be loved in a romantic relationship, and for that alone, I can’t regret meeting him even if it ended badly. It was really good while it lasted. Jason had a best friend, Ryan, who he had known since college. Ryan was dating Lisa, had been for several years when I met them, and we often went on double dates together. It was fun, we all got along and when Jason and I had been dating for about a year, the two of us started talking about moving in together.”
“Oh,” Buck breathed.
“Yeah. I didn’t-I didn’t see it coming. We had been floating around the idea of marriage, just to see if we were on the same page and looking for an apartment when Lisa and Ryan had a messy breakup. Public, in front of all their friends, messy. I didn’t think anything of it when Jason talked about how hard Lisa was taking the split. Hindsight,” he shrugged. “A few weeks later, Jason ended things abruptly, with reasons that didn’t make any sense and I was left floundering. Now, Lisa is coming around to comfort me and I’m reeling and devastated, a complete mess of a person for weeks. Turns out, Jason had been carrying a torch for Lisa since he met her when Ryan introduced his new girlfriend all those years ago,” Tommy continues.
“They break up and Jason sees an opportunity to go for it,” Buck added.
“Yep. He never mentioned that he was bisexual. Not that it mattered, Lisa or Luke, he still dumped me while we were in the middle of making a commitment to each other. I was barely out the door before he was telling all his friends that he was in love with Lisa. I kind of went off the deep end a bit,” Tommy confessed.
“What did you do?” Buck asked.
“I fucked Ryan, his best friend,” Bucks snorts a laugh and grins in Tommy’s direction as he continues. “I ran into him at a bar, we were both feeling sorry for ourselves and drinking too much. I kissed him then took him back to my place and fucked him silly. The next morning, he thanked me and left, I never saw him again,” Tommy paused, shaking his head. “I made an appointment with a therapist two days later. I honestly thought I had worked through all of it in therapy, but you mentioned moving in and you’re right, I shut down. And then instead of talking, I ran. My mind was running circles around itself. I was sure that there was no way you could want me. I felt like you saw the version of me that I project to the world, not the me that I am, the mess that I am,” Tommy explained.
“Tommy, I see you. Of course, I see you. I knew you were a mess. It takes one to know one. The Tommy that you project, that calm, cool Tommy? He can be fun and he’s certainly sexy and competent, but he wouldn’t indulge me when I want to dress up and hold a funeral for a 200-hundred-year-old corpse. He wouldn’t make me feel so safe that I could be my entire bratty self without fear of being too much. My Tommy is bitchy and sarcastic. He tells terrible jokes, likes monster truck rallies, never passes up a slice of cake, and cries at movies. That’s the Tommy I want, that’s the one…the one I fell in love with.”

ugh i’ve missed this man

“Why is he doin’ that shit?”
“Rafe, it’s a rom-com,” she reasons, practically glued to him on their couch with the way she keeps shifting closer and closer, almost unconsciously at this point.
“Yeah, a shitty one. Why was it necessary to do a whole fuckin’ speech at the mall? He couldn’t jus’ I dunno, tell her how he felt?” he scoffs, clearly fed up with the entire film already.
She can’t stop the bubbly laughter from escaping her when she looks over to his scowling face. “I mean, this is actually getting kinda weird…why’s everyone watching them?”
“Yeah, ‘n why are they still on that fuckin’ stage?” he grumbles while the couple is now fully making out on the TV screen.
“Please don’t ever do anything like that to me.”
“Yeah, was actually gonna ask, you, uh, you wanna go shoppin’ tomorrow?”
“No!” she giggles before taking a sip of the hot chocolate she’d made for herself (because Rafe deliberately told her he didn’t want any) but the minute she’d sat down with the mug in hand, he’d wanted to try it, which ended up with him drinking nearly half of it.
“Oh shit, forgot to give you this earlier, look what I got you today,” he suddenly murmurs.
“Hm?” her eyes flit over to his face; momentarily distracted by his pretty features as he searches for something from the back pocket of his pants. Then, he’s pulling a golden necklace from a velvety box.
“That looks really expensive,” she nervously mumbles, pausing the TV in order to concentrate on the heart-shaped locket he’s holding out to her.
“You deserve the fuckin’ world, it was nothin’ alright? Can think of it as an early Christmas present if it makes you feel better,” he rolls his eyes, almost exasperated that she still can’t seem to comprehend the fact that he enjoys spending his money on her.
“It’s so beautiful,” she croons as she inspects the piece of jewelry with careful fingertips, heart swelling in her chest at the sentiment— recalling how she’d mentioned something about thinking pendants like these were adorable maybe once.
“Yeah? You like it?”
“I love it. Wait, you had your initials carved into it too? That’s so cute, Ray, what the hell?” she feels her eyes grow watery because her boyfriend really is her favorite person in the whole wide world for a reason.
“Yeah, know you’re into sappy shit like that, ‘n you can put m’picture inside too ‘n you’ll always have me with you or whatever the fuck.”
“Shut up, you’re so sweet! I love you,” she exclaims before she’s wrapping her arms around his neck— climbing into his lap in the process while he murmurs into her hair how he apparently ‘loves her more’, which she thinks is not possible.
“Let me put it on you?” he says before he’s swiping away some strands in order to clasp the locket around her neck. “Look so pretty with m’name on you.”
“Wait, you should have my name on you too,” she jokingly utters out next.
“Been thinkin’ about gettin’ it tattooed actually,” he admits, completely serious, which makes her face scrunch up.
“You’re not getting my name tattooed on you— you’re crazy,” she softly hits his chest. However, he can barely even feel it because she really doesn’t have a single violent bone in her body.
“Yeah, crazy ‘bout you,” he grins, eliciting an airy giggle from her.
Knowing she’s about to complain about him being weird again, he shuts her up with a press of his mouth against hers— a surprised noise leaving her when she’s momentarily taken aback by the sudden cushion of his lips.
And it’s sloppy, the way they slot together like puzzle pieces when she opens up for him, but both of them prefer it that way.
His kiss was meant to be something sweet but soon enough she’s rutting against him— whimpering into his mouth as if it’s been years since the last time they did this. And all too soon for her liking, he’s pulling away.
“Somethin’ you want?”
“…no,” she lies through her teeth.
“No? Jus’ uh, humpin’ me like a bitch in heat for no reason then, hm?” he raises his brows; eyes fixed on her frustrated features.
“Ray...” she huffs out; a frown already forming on her spit-slicked lips.
“Yeah?” he asks, giving her a soft peck as encouragement.
“Want you…” she pants against his mouth.
“But m’right here?” the furrow of his brows displays faux confusion.
“You know what I mean,” she whines; shifting around in his lap some more.
“M’afraid I don’t. If there’s somethin’ you want, you gonna have to tell me,” the edge of his mouth curls annoyingly when he decides to toy with her, always finding so much entertainment from her struggle.
However, she merely grants him another whine.
“Wha’s up with you today, hm? So fuckin’ needy, actin’ like you haven’t been fucked in a month when you were literally cryin’ on m’cock last night?” he murmurs while thumbing at her pouty bottom lip.
“I don’t know…jus’ need you so bad,” her eyes begin to gloss over when he’s still not giving her what she so desperately craves.
“Baby, there’s no need to cry, yeah?” he sticks his thumb past her lips; an attempt to placate her, even if he thinks she never looks prettier than with her eyes all wet and forlorn.
“You’re ovulatin’ right now, aren’t ya?” his brain finally fits together the very telltale signs as he plucks his phone from the coffee table— opening the app that tracks her period cycle.
“Think so, yeah,” she mumbles, mindlessly sucking on the digit resting on her tongue as she sniffles.
It’s no surprise to either of them when his assumption proves to be right.
“Think you need me to fuck a baby in you, s’that it? Wanna make me a real daddy?” he croons.
“Mhm…want you,” her words are muffled around his thumb.
“I know, sweetheart. Don’t want anyone but you carryin’ m’kids— think about knockin’ you up so fuckin’ often, you know?”
“You do?”
“Yeah, know you’d be such a good mom.”
“You think? I think you’d be the best dad, sometimes wish you were my dad,” she rambles mindlessly, the conversation suddenly teetering on the edge of something else entirely.
“Shit, such an angel face ‘n then there’s this rotten mind inside, huh?” he tuts in disapproval, appearing disgusted as if he doesn’t get even harder in response to her words— something raw, primitive stirring in the pit of his stomach whenever she says things like that.
“M’sorry dad,” she offers him an impish smile.
“Someone’s in a mood today?” he chuckles, narrowing his eyes in a playful manner.
“Can you take off your pants?” she complains while attempting to loosen his belt but with her mind buzzing like a honeybee it’s proving to be a rather demanding.
“Can’t do anythin’ without dad’s help, can you? Go on, let’s see if you can take me out by yourself, yeah?” he rasps out, tone challenging.
“No, need your help, daddy, I can’t—”
“Shit, you’re fuckin’ pathetic,” he murmurs, somehow managing to turn something so patronizing into something affectionate as he swats away her helpless hands and yanks the belt open himself.
“See? Not that fuckin’ hard, was it?” he mutters out as his thumb slips out of her mouth before he’s pulling himself out. And even if he’s not even fully hard yet, and she’s seen it more times than she can count, she’s still mesmerized by the sight— eyes rounding out while she simply stares as if she’s under some spell.
“You’re so pretty,” she blinks at him, eyes moony.
“Still not tired of seein’ it, huh?”
She shakes her head.
And since she’s not wearing any pants (as usual), he only has to tug the fabric of her underwear to the side in order to reveal her messy cunt.
“Ray…” she whines when he merely smears the drippy head over her folds; thudding it against her clit to get her to whimper some more.
“Hm? Want it inside? Wha’s the magic word?” he looks at her with something amused twinkling in his eyes.
“Please. Dad, it hurts,” she sniffles, desperately trying to rub against him in an attempt to alleviate the ache.
“Hurts? Think you bein’ a little dramatic, no?” he lets out a breathy chuckle, making her huff out in frustration.
“M’not, Ray, please, need you so bad,” wet droplets stain her cheeks while she tries to uselessly blink them away.
“Shh, s’okay. Dad’s bein’ mean again, isn’t he? M’sorry, baby, I’ll give you what you want, yeah?” his voice is a deep rumble before he’s finally tucking the tip into her weepy cunt, causing both of them to moan in tandem when she practically sucks him in— his fingerprints denting the skin of her thighs when he aids her movements to his liking.
“Yeah? That what you wanted? Always such a tight fuckin’ fit, huh?” he grunts against her mouth; hips meeting hers halfway as he stuffs himself deeper.
“Mm, I love you,” she whimpers— practically feeling him in her guts as his cock pokes at the spongy spot inside her while his big hands help situate her on top of him, and she thinks this might just be heaven on earth.

Sukuna who was never close to his twin brother and never cared about the pipsqueak runt of a kid who’s his nephew.
He doesn’t care and doesn’t want to be associated with that bullshit. His brother doesn’t take the hint ever and invites him to everything. “My sons’s birthday party” this and “my son’s kindergarten graduation” that. What sort of graduation is meant for a kindergartener anyway? That’s a load of nonsense. But Jin is as annoying as ever with insisting on keeping contact and trying to get Sukuna involved and he hates it until by some tragedy out of nowhere, his brother and sister and law are dead. Yuuji’s left an orphan and no one can care for that kid because there’s no one left.
No one except Sukuna.
They ask him, too. The social workers. They turn to him and say some pitiful script about being “the only family left to take custody of him.” He knows pretty well what’s going to happen to the pipsqueak if he doesn’t agree. The foster care system and the possible horrors such a bright (even if annoying) kid could face makes him question saying no for a second. He’s surprisingly conflicted.
And it’s out of sheer impulsiveness alone does he end up as a single, grumpy, begrudging uncle who’s got custody of a child he never really cared to know in the first place.
And then he meets you.
Sweet, bubbly, warm, and so weirdly happy. Dictionary definition of what an elementary school teacher should be. Yuuji’s absolute favorite person on the planet as he waves hello at you enthusiastically every time that Sukuna drops him off and goodbye every time that Sukuna picks him up.
“I heard his new guardian would be his uncle. It’s nice to meet you,” you murmur to him the first day he picks up Yuuji after school, a look of pure melancholy on your face as you stare at him with an unearthly amount of compassion and sympathy. “Yuuji’s parents were wonderful people. I’m really sorry for your loss.”
“Wasn’t that close with either of them,” he grunts out. You look over at where Yuuji’s gleefully playing on the slide of the playground. Too young and innocent to realize that’s been ripped away from him. Too naive to understand what it means to grieve. Too hopeful about the world around him to realize just how cruel it can really be.
“Oh,” you murmur, nodding slowly.
He thinks that your unnaturally kind demeanor will finally be broken for a split second of judgement. What sort of heartless bastard doesn’t feel an ounce of grief for his own brother’s death? Instead, however, you seem to look at him with some weird sense of wonder.
“You’re a good uncle for stepping up regardless,” you say softly, “it’s more than what most would do in your shoes.”
“Yeah, whatever,” he clicks his teeth, unbearably uncomfortable with how weirdly sentimental this all is. “He’s just a five year old. How much trouble could he be?”
You raise a brow in amusement, eyeing him like he’s got one hell of a surprise waiting for him. He doesn’t like the vague way you hum, “Yeah. How could such a little human cause trouble, right?”
“I’ve got it under control,” he grumbles, a little annoyed that you seem to think that out of all things, a simple child would be enough to cause Sukuna any issues.
“Let me know if you need anything,” you smile.
Yuuji calls to you from the distance, squealing look what I can do! before he does a rather clumsy spin. Sukuna raises an unimpressed brow. You clap and praise him with an exaggerated gasp of approval.
It’s oddly endearing, he thinks to himself—you, not the kid. The kid’s barely tolerable.
“C’mon, you brat,” Sukuna calls. And then he looks at you and gruffly adds, “And I don’t need help.”
“Okay,” you grin brightly. It almost feels like you’re saying that a little sarcastically. “I’m sure you’ve got this parent thing down.”
Before he can even correct you that he’s an uncle, not parent, Yuuji comes running over on clumsy, short little legs and grabs onto Sukuna’s hand.
“C’mon, Uncle ‘Kuna!”
Sukuna doesn’t miss the way your eyes soften. Weirdly enough, he feels this odd sort of squeeze in his chest that doesn’t make any sense. Maybe he’s just getting old—that has to be it.

“And you ladies are goin’ to be alright?”
“Oh yeah, cabbie’s on his way for us. You go ahead and get this one home.” Your friends giggle as they take their turns hugging you goodbye, the process taking nearly ten minutes thanks to the never ending drinks you’ve all had tonight.
It was a rare night out for you, celebrating a friends birthday at a bar with your girl gang. With your busy schedules, it was difficult to find time to get together as often, and when you did, your friends went hard. Shot after shot, drink after drink, you’d definitely been beyond tipsy for a while now.
Simon, who had come to pick you up at the end of the night, was thoroughly entertained by the sight of his intoxicated little sweetheart, all giggly and rosy cheeked. Making sure your friends has their own safe way of getting home, he slipped an arm around your waist, wanting to prevent your stumbling legs from landing you face first on the bar floor, and led you towards the exit.
“Oh my gosh.” You giggle, your own arm trying to wind behind his large muscular back. “Simon I’m so happy you’re heeeeeeere! I missed you so much.”
“S’that right?” He humours you, holding the door open with his side as he manages to steer you out of the building and out to the car park. “You an’ the girls have only been out for a few hours, lovie.”
“Well it was a flew, no a few! It was a few hours too long!” You drunkenly mumbled, making Simon’s smile widen, his mind already going over the different painkillers in your bathroom cabinet he could give you in the morning for the hangover you were sure to get. “A few hours too many, away from my Si guy! I don’t like not being with youuuuuu.”
“I know, lovie, I don’t like being apart either. But you’re allowed to have fun with the girls every once in a while.” He attempted to reason with you, fishing a hand into his jacket pocket in search of the keys. “You had fun, right?”
“Yeeesssss… but I like you! So much!”
“I like you too.” He chuckled at you. “If ya had fun s’all that matters. And I’m here now aren’t I? Said I’d come get ya.” He adds, tightening his grip around you in emphasis, not wanting to shake you too much, unsure as to exactly how many drinks you had.
“Oh my gosh that’s so nice to say…” you began drawling on before your feet came to an abrupt halt, nearly causing Simon to stumble forward himself as he stopped alongside you. “Wait…” you mumbled, eyes glancing ahead at the familiar sight of Simon’s truck. “Are you driving me?”
He can’t help but to softly chuckle to himself again, completely endeared by the way drunken you has your face scrunched up in consideration, apparently having forgotten that between the two of you, Simon would in fact be the one behind the wheel.
“I am.” He replies simply, watching you process his words.
“Okay, well, I just need to call Soap first.” You mumble, trying to pull your phone out of your back pocket with great effort.
“What’ya need to call that tosser for?” Simon asked, now the one feeling confused.
“I’ve just never actually written a will, and if you’re driving then I think I should probab- ahh!” You squeal as Simon scoops you up over his shoulder, swatting a large hand against the plump of your behind, covering the short distance to the passenger side.
“Yeah yeah, very funny, cheeky girl.” He says, opening the door and helping you into the seat before buckling you in, a smile on his face the entire time. He comes around to his side and hops in the drivers seat, starting up the engine. As he starts to pull out of the parking and back onto the main road, Simon glances towards your figure huddled up in the passenger seat, already singing along to the first thing that came up on the radio, and wonders to himself just how much you’ll remember in the morning.
The last time he’d drank with you, you were completely out of business the next day, saying that you could hardly remember a thing from the night prior, and even then he wasn’t sure you were as intoxicated as you were currently. Deciding to have a bit of fun and take a chance Simon asks you:
“Hey lovie?”
“Mhm?”
“When I ask ya to marry me, what do ya think you’ll say?”
“Uh, I will say YES! Duh!” You reply, the answer obvious to you no matter what state you’re in. However, because you are in fact drunk, you then add “and then I’m gonna get down on my knees too Si, and I’m gonna give you the best bestest head in the whole world actually is what I will do.”
“Hm, okay.” He answers casually, keeping the urge to laugh contained for a bit longer, wanting to keep teasing you. “And uh, how many kids do you think you’re gonna want us to have?”
“Simon,” you playfully sing song to him, angling yourself to face towards him and reaching a finger out to try and poke his cheek, landing more towards his shoulder. “Do you have feelings for me or something?”
“Or somethin’” he says quickly, “Come on lovie, how many babies am I puttin’ in ya, hm?”
“Mmm, at least two I think. So that at Halloween, Simon oh my gosh, at Halloween! We can do a family costume and all be ghostbuste-”
“We’re not gonna be ghostbust-”
“We will be ghostbusters.” You nod to yourself, glancing away from him as his opinion is no longer valid, before changing your mind and looking at him with all the love you can muster at that moment. “Simon, it sounds like you liiiiiiiike meeeee.” You attempt to tease. “You wanna get married? And have babies?”
“‘Course I do, lovie.”
“You think about that?”
“Every day.”
“Every day?”
“Mhm.” He confirms, sending you his own loving look.
“Well you better get me my ring then mister, cause I like yoooouuu too.” You giggle, before gasping as the song changes and starting to sing along.
He watches you in the passenger seat, a content smile upon his face as he listens to you singing without a care in the world, unaware that Simon has had your ring picked out and purchased since your first kiss. He’s just been waiting for the right time to ask you. And now that you’ve unknowingly given him your own blessing, he’s not so sure he can wait much longer.

okay hear me out…. reverse hybrid au… with tigerhybrid!sukuna bc nobody else can handle him because he’s so aggressive and overbearing .. so reader is their last resort zoo caretaker and they’re is shocked at how it’s like reader has a leash on tigerhybrid!sukuna 😚
I’VE GOT IT?
Synopsis: You’re head of a completely different department so why are you being asked to help with an odd situation?
Warnings: Female!reader + Mean!Sukuna + cringe tropes (sorry) + Hybrid!Sukuna: ears and a tail + heat + cumming inside + doggy + NOTPROOFREAD!!! + obsessed!Sukuna
Pairings: Tigerhybrid!Sukuna x female!Reader
Notes: I’m really working to improve my writing for you guys!! Esp my non-English speakers
“Miss please you know we would never beg like this if it wasn’t urgent.”
“I don’t specialize in that field, how many times must I tell you?”
You were getting sick of these scientists coming to you more often than normal, there’s three right now begging for you to take on a case that you didn’t want to do.
“Sukuna is out of control, he’s already injured five of our best, now they refuse to work with him”
“And I should be the sixth?” You say with a quirk of your brow.
They all stop and stare at one another, you have a good ass point what makes them think that you’ll be the antidote for their beast they decided to keep.
“Like I said, my stance on this won’t change.”
Another voice in the doorway of your office speaks up: “I’ll upgrade your pay and have you transferred up.”
Your ears perk up at this offer, to go even further where you are right now means business and a fuck ton of money. On the flip side it means facing whatever they’re against but you’ve always been a little greedy for money so you oblige.
The scientists made sure to throw you in the thinnest garments: “to let him know you don’t have anything on you.” As they put it.
They also had told you no sudden movements and to talk with him in a calm manner, show him you aren’t afraid and find out what’s been making him so angry lately. Easy peasy except your life is on the line!
You disregard any negative thoughts of death and make your way into the place where they keep their hybrids, it’s like little apartments where they can do as they please in return for information on their biology, as far as you know they love it here. You’ve once met puppy!hybrids Satoru and Suguru they were very sweet men, needy but sweet.
Your first step into the apartment is met with a strong smell, a smell of something primal if that even has a smell. It’s warm.
You start poking around his place, checking his fridge and looking for anything out of the ordinary, nothing seems amiss though. It’s not until you come up to one of the doors and hear slight noises. You press your ear up closer making the noise more clearer: whining it sounds like whining.
Could he perhaps be In pain? You knock three times and announce you’re coming in. The door clicks and you start slowly pulling it open. You see the man in all his glory resting upon his bed, arms wrapped around his pillow and an unreadable expression.
Sukuna is big, he’s a big man compared to all the other hybrids, he’s brimming with pure muscle. Does he workout in here? Your thoughts are interrupted by slight growling: he’s warning you. Step any close r and he will have no choice but to harm you.
You pay him no mind, instead you step fully in and start looking around without a care in the world.
“You’re making trouble- why is that?” You say while looking through his dresser.
“You’re being extremely nosy, leave before I kill you.” He threatens harshly.
“If you harm me I’ll have you sent somewhere else, I know where you come from and I’m assuming you don’t want to go back.”
The room goes eerily silent like he’s making a choice, he opens his mouth to speak but a groan accidentally slips past his lips.
Oh… the big oaf is in heat, and top scientists couldn’t tell or try to track his cycle?
“You in heat big guy?”
“No-“
“Such a liar, I’m not here to make fun of you, I’m here to make sure you get proper help.”
“The only way I’ll get proper help is if I fuck someone.” So damn blunt you think to yourself.
He continues speaking: “I think you know they won’t allow that though.”
“Would you like some toys? I can request that for you.”
“Useless.”
You let out the loudest sigh and plop down on his fluffy bed. Bending your head in his direction you see he’s not looking at your face but your body, eyes fully trained on your pert nipples because of the cold.
You allow the poor suffering hybrid to mount you, putting a good bit of his weight on your back you can feel the outline of his thick meaty cock resting near your cunt and ass.
He’s hard, fully hard and probably has been for a while: you feel almost a little bad.
Sukuna doesn’t waste anytime grinding down against you, it feels so fucking good, his cock is accepting anything even if it’s the bare minimum. Everytime he meets your ass he whines, such a needy tiger you coo.
He’s ignoring all the dirty little comments you send his way too focused on the only good sensation he’s felt for a while, his hand doesn’t compare to your rounded ass. You reach between your legs and pull his shorts down, letting his cock bob free for a minute before he’s pushing up against you again.
He’s producing so much precum that youCan feel it through your silky garments.
“Smells so good… really good.” “Mhhhphmmm-“ he’s now being open with his groans too focused on the feeling of his tip prodding your clothed pussy. His swishing tail is within your eyesight, you grab it and rub it for extra stimulation.
You help him a little bit by bouncing your ass against him. He places his head in the crook of your neck and starts nibbling on your neck, you can feel how sharp his damn teeth are and pray to yourself he isn’t going to bite you: killing you in the process.
He doesn’t do any of that instead he just lightly bites, using no strength at all. While he’s busying tearing up your neck you slip your panties off, grabbing his fat length and teasing your wet hole. Just feeling it in your hand has your body burning up in arousal it’s been a while since you’ve had a cock, especially a cock his size.
You slowly start inching it in, the stretch is so damn unbearable and uncomfortable. When he feels what you’re doing he starts moving his hips already. An impatient thing such as him isn’t gonna wait. He gets about halfway in and you feel a thick liquid fill you, did this beast just cum? Already?
“Nhhhnn.. fuck-..” this doesn’t deter him because he’s sitting fully on his knees and pulling you flush against him, his entire length snuggly inside your pussy. He doesn’t wait to bounce you back on him, you can’t comprehend anything properly so shocked by how he just made you take every inch of him.
Your lashes flutter closed as he ruts into you like you’re the damn sex tox he’s been given, one he wasn’t gonna take care of properly. His hold on you is extremely tight so you can do nothing but take him fully, even when your walls threaten to constrict around him he pushes through it and keeps fucking Into you.
You allow him, allow him to thrust like a wild animal, mercilessly pulling all the way out of you just to slam back in. Drool is seeping down your neck where he’s latched on in droves. He’s far too gone, pussy has never felt this good.
By the end Sukuna is still rutting uselessly, he’s not even hard anymore he just can’t stop leaking cum nor has that good euphoric feeling stopped. He’s made a mess of your pussy, his cum and yours seeping down your thighs and onto his ruined sheets.
Hes licking at your face and you can hear a deep rumbling in his chest, this big hybrid is purring in content. Any attempt to move from under him is completely halted, he won’t let you move even an inch.
He begins sucking on your nipples, they’re definitely gonna be sore later but now it seems he just wants comfort and you fully give that to him. Rubbing his ears and whispering sweet nothings to him.
After that incident Sukuna is completely attached, he constantly whines for you to come see him including the scientists also calling for you to calm him down. He won’t let you have a moments peace.
Even when you tell him you’re extremely busy he’s having none of it, if he wants you to laze around and do nothing but rub him or praise/coddle him he completely expects it!
As his mate you’re meant to be with him all the time you should be grateful he’s even letting you leave the nest.
You were left fully shocked when he first called you his mate but the scientists explained that you were his first and now you are his last, they had all praised you because testing was made easier if you were there.
They’re all surprised to see him completely like mush under you, like one time when it was time for his blood to be drawn he made you come and sit in his lap while he had it taken. The doctors said he seemed to be completely smitten with you, in love and so possessive.

he was surprised to find out you were a virgin early on in the relationship.
“how could someone so pretty like her be a virgin?” he thought to himself frequently. you were so, so pretty to him.
you were glad that he wasn’t pushing you to have sex like the other people before. he’s so gentle, so patient with you. you wonder how someone like him can handle someone like you—behavior wise.
every time you two kiss, you always have to pull away before it gets too heated. you’re scared of having sex, you really, really are, but you’ve always considered nagi to be the one to take your virginity away from you.
“m’sorry sei…. not ready yet…” you say, face buried into his shoulder along with your arms hung around them.
“it’s okay baby… when you’re ready, you’re ready, right? doesn’t have to be immediately…” he reassures, kissing your cheek.

it got him so, so fucking hard when you told him that you’re a virgin. the thoughts rushing to his head on how he can teach you how to take his dick, the pretty sounds you’d make, the possible bulge his cock can (will) show in your stomach, everything is rushing to his head.
so after that little restaurant date between the two of you, he goes back home to his apartment and jerks his cock off to every single thought about you, pretending his fist is your pretty, wet cunt taking all of him.
“fffuck— baby… gonna make me cum.. so tight…”
…. ┈─★ 𐚁๋࣭
it’s been a couple of months since the two of you got together. you’ve done so many things together and your friends and his friends combined both think you two are cute together.
you figured it was about time to have sex at this point, so you decide to make your move tonight, but how? you’ve never done something like this before, nor ever felt this way for someone ever.
“you ready for our movie night date? :x”
“mhm! coming over right now sei!”
“can’t wait to see you angel, really missed you”
for some reason, that text he sent made your face so red and flushed! anticipation, maybe?
…. ┈─★ 𐚁๋࣭
you’re currently on his bed, blanket on both of your laps, head on his shoulder as you two watch the movie you both agreed on.
“sei… can i tell you something?”
“hm? go ahead.” he says, reaching for the remote to pause the movie.
“i wanna try it…. want you to be my first time sei…i’ve been thinking about it all week…” you say while grabbing his arm, face flushed in a shade of red.
“are you sure, baby? this is so sudden… don’t wanna hurt you or anything..”
“im sure sei… think m’ready…” you say in that sweet, sweet tone you always have, the one that he hears every time you speak to him.

“gonna take it slow for you, ‘kay?” he whispers in your ear, his body hovering over yours on the bed with his knee in between your thigh before kissing your soft, pretty lips, your arms over his shoulders with his hands at your waist.
“s—seishiro…. mm…” you whimper into the kiss as he brushes his knee slightly against your clothed cunt.
“hm? feels good?” he teases, breaking the kiss to start kissing all over your neck and down.
you love the way his lips feel on your body. the way he asks you if it feels good—it’s all too much! and he knows that it’s too much for you with the way your already whimpering on the fact that he’s getting closer to your pretty pussy.
“you’re so pretty… can kiss your body forever, angel.” he murmurs, placing kisses on your inner thighs before he places a kiss right on your cunt that’s still clothed in a pair of lacy panties. “fuck—these are so cute on you, baby…”
he plays with your sensitive bud with his fingers through the wet—soiled fabric, but not for long before he’s asking to take off your panties.
“gonna take these off of you now, that okay with you, pretty?”
“mhm… go ahead sei… please…” you plead desperately to the point where it’s almost embarrassing.
“mm— that’s a good girl..” he says as he takes off your panties slowly, kissing your pussy once more before licking the slit with his skilled tongue along with sucking your sensitive bud. “does it feel good, hm?”
“seishiro—! mmf… fffuckk—!” you moan at the new feeling, gripping at his soft white hair. if you knew it felt so good, you would’ve told him to do this sooner!
you swear that he’s humming into your cunt on purpose to make you squirm around him! he’s moaning saying how good you taste and fuck— it’s having an effect on you. you can feel that your about to cum despite the fact that you don’t even know how it feels to do so.
“s—sei… i think m’gonna cum soon… haah…—“
“yeah? you feel it, angel? cum for me… you’re doing so well.”
you swear that you could see literal stars as your orgasm washed over you. little whimpers of “m’cumming sei… mmf…!” coming out of your mouth.
“mm.. thats it, sweet girl… feel good?”

“gonna teach you how to suck my dick now, yeah?” he whispers, kissing your neck before he takes off his sweatpants and boxers, his rock hard cock on display for you.
he knows that his cock isn’t the average size. it’s thick with pre all over his pink tip and it has a little prominent vein and holy shit—it’s making you so wet!
“seishiro… it’s s’big… don’t think i can take all of it…” you say, looking at it with big, curious eyes.
“s’okay baby… don’t need to take all of it..” he says, thumb rubbing your face.
…┈─★ 𐚁๋࣭
“focus on the tip… ‘s sensitive there…” he says, your lips and tongue on his tip tasting his pre. “ahh—shit…! you’re doing so well, angel. so good f’me…” he moans, his hand on your head. “you think you can take a bit more of me, hm? just a little more down?”
“m—mhm… i wanna try it… want to make you feel good too, sei..”
fuck.
it takes everything in him to not plow his big cock into your insides and completely ruin you. but of course, he holds back, it is your first time after all. he doesn’t wanna ruin his pretty girl juuust yet!
“mmf… you’re such a sweet girl, so perfect..” he smiles, thumb rubbing your face once more.
…┈─★ 𐚁๋࣭
“spit on your palm f’me… that way, you can move your fist up and down for the part that you can’t take, ‘kay?”
you spit onto your palm, globs of it falling down. you begin to suck him once more, taking more of his cock into your mouth this time.
he doesn’t expect you to take all of him into his mouth, especially since it’s your first time, but again, it really, really takes everything inside of him to not grip your hair and bob your head up and down on his cock.
you’re doing a lot more then he expected from a virgin. you’ve taken a good amount of him inside of your mouth, using your spit covered fist to jerk off the rest of his cock that couldn’t fit in your mouth.
“fuck—are you sure you’re a virgin, baby? you’re so good at this…haah—such a fast learner, aren’t you?” whimpers coming out of his mouth, the familiar feeling of cumming soon rushing over his body.
“gonna cum soon, angel… ohh shitt—… take it baby, take all of my cum in your mouth… that’s it…”
…┈─★ 𐚁๋࣭
“tell me when you’re ready, okay? gonna take it nice and slow f’you, sweet girl.” he responds, looking at you from underneath, his cock in his hand.
“m—mhm… think m’ready now… you got me so wet sei…”
“she’s so cute when she gets like this…” he thinks, moving his cock back and forth on your folds and slapping his cock onto your clit, teasing you so that he can hear your pretty, soft moans.
“mmf—! stop teasing me seishiro… please…” you pout for a little bit, finally feeling his cock stretch you out for the first time. it burns, but the feeling begins to turn into pleasure.
“fuck, you feel so good, baby…” he murmurs into your neck, thrusting his big cock inside of you slowly. “you alright? does it feel good, hm? want your first time to be perfect..”
“ahh..! s—sei! you’re too big—haah… can feel your cock in my stomach…” you whimper, pulling his hand to the bulge in your stomach that shows each time he thrusts deep inside. “feels sooo good, baby… love your cock so much… mmf—!”
“yeah? you like it, huh? only my cock can make you like this, sweet girl…” he knows you’ve gone dumb on his cock already! only babbling words out of your mouth from what you can hear from your knowledge.
“m—mhm you’re the only one seishiro….gonna cum again soon…” you start rubbing your clit with your fingers, your cunt squeezing itself on his cock as you get closer to the edge.
“mm!— m’cumming again sei…! gonna cum… ahh—!”
right before he’s about to cum, he pulls his cock out of your warm cunt, jerking it off infront of you as his cum goes right onto your stomach.

he gets you a fresh pair of his clean clothes after your shower together, leaving a kiss on your cheek when he sees you on the bed.
“you okay, love?” he asks with a gentle tone, water droplets falling from his hair since you both had just gotten out of the shower.
“mhm… it felt really good, sei… thank you… wanna do it again soon…” you giggle softly, holding him tighter into your hug.
“don’t thank me, baby… wanted your first time to be as perfect as possible.” he says, kissing you once more before you both drift off to sleep.
