— the other side
request:  BRUH YOUR SWIMSUIT SHOPPING WITH JJK IS GOD LEVEL 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫 I think you wrote Gojo perfectly 🥺 Could I pretty please request FaceTime sex with Gojo 🤩 Like maybe Gojo’s away on a mission and he really misses reader and he’s needy so he calls her and has her put the phone down in front of her and tells her what to do 😳
warnings: nsfw, mutual masturbation, facetime sex, dirty talk (+unedited fic)
note: i actually wasn’t sure if i could write this well since i’m not the best at dialogue, but i tried my best and i hope you like it anon! thank you for the request! dinner has been served!
masterlist !
Ruined. He’s absolutely ruined you.
You pull your fingers out of your clenching hole, your cheeks sweaty as you pant against your pillow. Hole clenching around nothing at the sudden emptiness, your chest heaves up and down with the gnawing dissatisfaction that you could no longer cum yourself; could no longer feel pleased unless it’s Gojo doing it for you.
Before you know it, a single tear flows down until it collects besides your lips. Hands rubbing against your tired eyes, you sigh at the clock blaring 2:19 AM mockingly at you.
It’s two in the fucking morning – and you haven’t cum ever since Gojo left for work.
Your fingers just wasn’t enough; could never be enough compared to his magical tongue and long dick that absolutely drives you into with so much need, large hands grappling against your soft mounds for leverage while he pounds himself into you.
It’s not the same without him. It’s been four long days ever since Gojo left for work; four torturous days that you’ve done everything you could to get off, only to keep failing after hours of humping your pillow or doing all the work with the cute pink dildo you got just for days he wouldn’t be around. It never ends well. Your wrist would only cramp or your thighs would ache afterwards, but you never came.
Perhaps that’s one of the consequences of being greedy and wanting to keep Gojo Satoru all to yourself. In return, he’s also stolen you of the privilege of fucking yourself.
Arm sprawled over your face, your breathing begins to regulate. Your legs are still wide open, arousal leaking from your disappointed cunt. You were ready, so ready for Gojo to come home and just fuck you silly.
You hate yourself for being this way, hate that your lips are trembling because you miss him so much and you’re actually crying all because you feel so empty without him buried within you.
It’s stupid, so fucking stupid, but you can’t help it.
You turn around to your side and hug his pillow closer to your body, breathing in his scent. It helps to calm you down a bit and even reassures you you’re not really alone; he’d come back in a few days and you’ll have him all to yourself again.
It’s been a long day, and the days just keep stretching over with the fact you’ve pretty much masturbated everywhere but still never got to come. A wave of exhaustion washes over you, your eyelids growing heavy at the same time you wrap one leg around Gojo’s pillow. His musky scent still remains, almost mocking that he’s never really away from you, but the dull aching deep within your pussy says otherwise.
You’re so helpless without him.
Just as you’re about to gaze off into to dreamland, your phone blares from your bedside table. You don’t waste another second before scrambling off the bed to get it, nearly falling off if you hadn’t grasped on to the sheets hard enough.
Gojo’s contact name of baby with a heart emoji flashes on the screen. Out of reflex, your entire body responds. Palms sweaty, lips puckered, pussy fluttering and nipples peaking – it’s embarrassing how your body reacts to him strongly. If he was here and he saw the way you open yourself up to him, Gojo would laugh while knuckle deep in you, teasing that you’re so eager for him and he hasn’t even done anything yet.
You quickly swipe right to answer, the grin on your face large and beaming when his handsome face greets you. “Satoru,” you smile, leaning back on the pillows to make yourself comfortable. “I missed you.”
There’s no lie about that. He’s still so handsome with one arm propped underneath him, hair down in messy strands and his eyes free from the blindfold, allowing you to witness the magic that pooled within that beauty. Satoru is now wearing a plain white shirt in exchange of his usual dark uniform, his bicep flexing under his weight, but you’re more focused on how his eyes crinkle once he finally saw your pretty face.
You could tell he misses you just the same.
“Hey, baby,” he coos through the call, and his low, husky voice immediately sends chill down your spine. The cold air bites at your exposed cunt and you shudder; you already know you’re wet again. It’s still ‘yesterday’ where he’s at, meaning that he’d have to leave for work after three hours or so as the sun begins to rise, while you’d still be slumbering at peace.
Or at least, sleep as comfortably as you could with countless failed orgasms.
“I missed you too,” Satoru sighs. His eyes droop for a moment, and he sees the way you open your lips, ready to tell him to get some more rest instead of calling you. Satoru only presses a finger to his lips, eyes glinting playfully at your awaiting gaze. “I’m fine, baby, don’t worry about me. I just needed to hear your voice.”
Your heart skips a beat at that. You’ve always known that Satoru is flirty, and even though he isn’t exactly being too flirty right now, the mere thought of him wanting to hear your voice before he sleeps does wondrous leaps to your wavering heart.
“Me too,” you confess in a small voice, tugging up the sheets under the chin as you grow more and more shy with each passing second. “It hasn’t been the same without you, Toru. I can’t…I can’t be myself when you’re not here.”
Satoru, despite being an absolute dumb fuck all the time, isn’t stupid when it comes to that tone of your voice. He nods once and presses the phone closer to his face, voice low and serious. “What’s wrong, baby? Do you want to talk to me about it?”
Yes and no. You seriously debate whether it’s best to tell him that you can’t cum without him, simply because he’s always so much better and feels perfect compared to your nimble fingers that barely even stretch you. On the other side, you don’t want to keep him up too late, plus phone sex… well, you haven’t really done it before. Just imagining showing yourself bare to Satoru through the camera already makes your body feel warmer than it already it is. He’s seen you naked hundred of times before, but the idea that he could record it…
You swallow audibly and look away from him. Your cunt is already gushing as you imagine Satoru recording the way you lose yourself as he buries his cock into your hilt, but it’s a different thing if you could both masturbate to the thought of each other.
“Babe,” Satoru cuts off your train of thoughts, “You feel frustrated too, don’t you? I’ve never hated my fist as much as I do now.”
Your head snaps to his direction so fast Satoru laughs at your crazed reaction, and the sound only increases when you start babbling to him. “Y-you,” you shake your head in disbelief, “You too? You can’t cum too? I mean, I’ve done everything I could, I even got a dildo but it’s not enough, Toru, it’s never enough, I need you so bad.”
You don’t care that you’re whining at this point. Satoru doesn’t give a damn either because he’s already palming his erection through his sweatpants from the other side of the world, jaw clenching as he imagines you doing lewd things without him.
“Aw, my poor baby,” he teases you, making you pout and hide under the sheets with only your eyes peeking through. “It’s okay, I’ve got you now,” his voice drops an octave lower, eyes darkening as lust consumes both your body. “Just be a good girl and follow my instructions, okay? I’ll make you feel good. We’ll make each other feel good. It’ll feel like I never left, okay?”
“O-okay,” you nod shakily, still unsure of what to do. “Is there-?”
“Yeah,” Satoru grunts as he whips his cock free from his confines, hips jutting forward now that his hand is wrapped around it. He sighs at the relief of finally getting his chance to cum. He understands your situation; his cock won’t even come close to the warmth of your tight pussy clenching on him. “Show me yourself, pretty girl. Show me those pretty pink lips of yours,” Satoru places his phone somewhere on the table near his bed, pushing his sweatpants down until his cock slaps against his underbelly, the tip red and leaking.
You gasp at how lewd he looks. The sheets are absolutely crumpled beneath him, and you clench your thighs at the sight of Satoru wrapping his hands around his large, angry cock with his eyes staring straight directly at the camera.
“Come on, baby, don’t be shy,” he rasps, “I want to see you, want to hear you. You’ll let me hear those beautiful moans, won’t you?”
When his hups jut forward to meet the tight grip of his hands, something inside you snaps. Breath shaky and legs trembling, you throw your sheets off to the side and get your phone stand before setting it up at your bedside table, making sure to tilt the camera downwards before you lean back onto the bed. You’re already naked underneath Satoru’s large shirt, and it doesn’t take much as you spread your legs eagerly for him, using two lips to spread your lips open even without his command.
Satoru groans at your arousal leaking down the sheets and making a mess. He pumps himself harder, smirking at how your heavy breathing is all he could hear. “So fucking pretty,” he praises, “Now put two fingers in your pussy for me, baby girl. Stretch yourself open so I can see how much you miss my cock.”
Obedient as ever, you do as you’re told, letting out a shuddered moan when your two fingers go past your walls without resistance. You’re wet, so fucking wet for him, but you want him. “Satoru,” you whine, pushing your fingers deeper and deeper and pulling them out for friction. Your walls clench around your digits and you start imagining that it’s his long fingers buried into you this time; getting off to his image and relishing in how Satoru is moaning your name. “Miss you baby,” you cry out, hands trailing up to squeeze your nipples. “I want you so bad.”
“Me too, baby, me too,” the sound of Satoru’s slick running up and down his shaft, along with his low groans, are like music to your ears. Your moan grows louder when you open your eyes and see that his muscles are flexing as he fucks his hand eagerly, his gaze focused on the way you’re shuddering around your own digits. “Another one. Add another one.”
Shakily, you add another one, your head falling back at the welcomed intrusion. It’s still not enough, but it’ll do for now.
You just imagine that it’s his cock inside you instead, each vein prominent as the ridges of your wall hug him completely. Satoru replaces his hand with your pussy as well, that the fist running down his dick is you bouncing on his cock instead. He can already picture the way your breasts bounce in front of him and Satoru shudders, “Tits,” he growls, “I want to see your fucking tits. Want to feel them on my hands,” Satoru chuckles at how eagerly you lift your shirt up to show him the beaded nipples, teeth biting down on the material with your hands still knuckle-deep in your pussy.
“Fuck, you’re always so pretty, babe.”
“Miss you,” you keep crying out, words muffled through the shirt you’re biting. You pinch your nipple at the same time you rapidly finger yourself, your pussy squelching and the sounds pornographic as it echoes all the way to Satoru’s phone. You miss him so fucking much that it’s unreal. There’s no more self control when your back hits the bed, hips lifting off the bed and giving Satoru a clearer view of your juices dripping down your ass.
Satoru can’t resist the way his balls tighten, desperate to have you right next to him so he can fuck your brains out already. He wishes he could come home and be in your warmth, be in your embrace, but he’s still got curses to kill that fucking you would just have to wait much to both parties’ displeasure.
Sweat is beading down his forehead as he watches you thrash around your bed, his cock only growing harder and a low growl emanating from his throat when you keep moaning satoru, satoru, satoru, I love you so fucking much.
“I love you too,” he manages to say in shaky breaths. “You’re so perfect for me – fuck.”
You push yourself off the edge by pulling your lips aside and pinch at your clit. At that, your back arches off the bed, making your fingers dig deeper into you and for a split second, you manage to hit your g-spot. Satoru can tell you’re close by the way your legs spasm and he encourages you, spitting down his cock as he pumps his fist around his length almost angrily.
“That’s good, baby, keep going, keep going,” his teeth clenches when you nod, tears falling down your pretty cheeks. “Want to fuck you so good – I’d have you screaming around my neck while I take you from behind and shove your face down the pillow,” you moan in response, the sound high pitched and almost whiny. Satoru chuckles before he cuts himself off with a hiss, his balls tightening and his cock throbbing already. “Yeah, you’d like that, wouldn’t you? You want me to fuck your ass when I get home?”
“Yes, yes, please,” your belly tightens at the thought of Satoru stretching your tight hole, even better if he pulls at your hair while his hips slam at the flesh of your ass.
Rubbing your clit fervently, Satoru’s name comes out as a broken cry as your orgasm chokes you. The tears are staining your cheeks the same way your cum is making a mess on the sheets, and you grind down harder on the sheets, scissoring yourself just to extend your orgasm.
“Satoru,” you whine, “Fuckkk.”
“I’m close, baby, I’m-” Satoru falls forward when his cock shoots out thick ropes of cum, some of them landing on his abdomen and one sticks to his chin. Your pupils blow wide with lust as you shudder around your fingers while riding down your high, in disbelief that Satoru is cumming so much.
He’s shameless as he continues thrusting into his fists. You’re worried he would overuse his strength and beat his cock to death, but Satoru only chuckles as he keeps pumping his cock, his cum overflowing and pooling down his thick thighs.
“Shit,” he mumbles to himself, falling in the same state as you when he drops down on the bed. His dick begins to turn limp but it’s still twitching, turning a dark shade of pink as he beats his dick almost lazily the time. The both of you take a moment to breathe at the orgasm; not as mind blowing as the ones you’d get if he was there rutting into you instead, but because he’s there, you’re still left with the aftershocks of pleasure.
Wiping the arousal left on your hands on your shirt, you grab your phone and fall into your pillows, cheeks squished and eyelashes fluttering slowly. “Toru,” you call out softly, “You asleep?”
“I want to come home already,” is all he says. He’s still half-passed out in his bed and you laugh, rubbing your thighs together and grimacing when it starts to stick together from your cum. Glancing at Satoru’s form, you dash to the bath to clean yourself up by washing away the cum, coming back to see that Satoru was also in the middle of cleaning his cum with napkins.
“Facetime sex,” he laughs to himself with a shake of his head, mirroring your form by langind on his pillows. He looks absolutely adorable with his lips puckered out like that, azure blue eyes drooping close. “I miss you, babe. I promise when I come home I’m going to fuck you endless.”
You chuckle at his words, wondering how he’s able to say such suggestive things when he’s seconds away from passing out due to exhaustion. Your eyelids grow heavy as well, and along with the light blanket of satisfaction and post-orgasm bliss, the only thing that wouldn’t make this a good night of sleep is the fact Satoru isn’t next to you. Nevertheless, you’re grateful that Satoru took the time to call you despite his busy schedule.
Your heart flutters when Satoru lazily calls you baby, mumbling on and on about how much he misses you. Now that he’s come down from his high, he’s reverting into his big baby self.
His eyes are closed and he’s burying himself deeper into his pillows. You’re about to say goodbye when Satoru lightly snores from the other line, a smile tugging at your lips when you see that he’s now blissfully asleep. Wishing that you could run your hands through his hair, at least, you kiss the screen in the hopes it’d reach him at least metaphorically.
“Sleep well, my love,” you whisper before swiping left to end the call.
Even through the other end of the line, on the other side of the world, Satoru’s worries and exhaustion are washed away with the love you send him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You felt sore all over and your head was throbbing, but nothing compared to how hungry you were. It had taken hours for your heat to simmer down enough for the two of you to finally get out of the too small for Dabi’s large frame bed. To be honest, you weren’t even sure when or how you two even made it to the bedroom.
But here you were several hours later, starving, and a different need growing as you took in the contents of the small apartment. You needed to nest, and there wasn’t much to use. You would have to see if Dabi could go out and fetch some things for you…
“Mhh… somethin’ smells good.” You had been too lost in thought to notice Dabi stroll into the kitchen until he was leaning against your back, his arms wrapping around you pressing you against him and he pressed his lips to the bond mark on your neck inhaling your scent.
“You still like your eggs scrambled right?” You tried to ignore the way his fingers felt across your hips playing with the edge of his hoodie that you were wearing, the way his smell enveloped you and made your insides twist in excitement. You focused instead on how hungry you were. You had never had to deal with a heat this intense, having been on suppressants since your very first heat. To be fair, you also had never been allowed to actually indulge in your heat which you were sure was only making it worse.
“I was talking about you.” He was pressing kisses along your neck at this point, pulling at the neckline of the hoodie, his voice gravellier than normal from the brief hour of sleep that he had gotten. You didn’t understand how he still had so much energy, but you guessed that it was just his alpha’s stamina, even you were tired and you were the one in heat.
“Touya, I’m hungry, let me eat firs-.” You turned to him whining, your voice catching in your throat at noticing how completely naked he was. In the soft light of the morning, you could see everything, and you were pretty sure the man in front of you was an angel sent from heaven.
“I’ll give you something to eat, little mouse” He leaned over you, his hands settling on either side trapping you against the stove you were at and you could hear the pan that the eggs were on shifting slightly behind you. You couldn’t lean away or else you’d burn yourself.
Maybe he was closer to a demon. A damned incubus.
You could feel your cheeks heating up along with your core, but it wasn’t unbearable yet. Apparently even your horny omega was too hungry to be sent back into a frenzy. Not to mention the growing anxiety of not having a nest was making you a bit temperamental.
When Dabi noticed the frown growing across your features, he pouted a bit but backed off running his hand through his messy bed head.
“I thought that an omega’s heat lasted longer.” He was moving around you, grabbing a drink of water out of the fridge leaning against it not bothering to hide anything as he watched you finish cooking.
“We still have to eat and take care of ourselves. It’s  not just… constant … you know.. all the time.” You could see his lips pulling up in amusement watching as you tried to find the words that you wanted. It didn’t help that he was completely naked.
“You were screaming at me to fuck you all night, but now you can’t even talk about it?”
“Anyways…” You stated pointedly, separating the eggs along with the bacon that you had made onto two separate paper plates. You were glad you insisted on getting those at the store yesterday, Dabi hadn’t even thought about it. “What about you? I thought rutting alpha’s were supposed to be crazy insatiable and rough.” Not that you minded at all that he had been gentler with you... you had honestly been a little scared when you noticed he had started to rut, even though it felt good you were expecting him to go crazy like you had heard other alpha’s do..
Dabi had disappeared back into the bedroom for just a brief moment before coming back out fully clothed now, much to your relief.
“I’m on suppressants that make it more managable, it’s kind of hard to be on the down low if I have to deal with ruts every couple weeks. Last night barely could be counted. Though… if you want me to I could show you what a real rut is like.” There he was again, teasing you, making your omega drool. As much as you were scared of what a real rut could be, it didn’t change the fact that as an omega you were built for it. Just like his alpha was built to have crazy stamina to keep up with you in a heat, you were built to take the brunt force of his rut and even enjoy it, crave it.
You shoved the thoughts out of your brain, just as you shoved his plate into his hands, ignoring the chuckles leaving his lips at your embarrassment at your own thoughts. His eyes stayed on you as you moved to sit down at the island counter, munching away on your breakfast, your stomach thanking you.
“It’ll happen at some point though; the suppressants can only do so much and with you going into heats it’ll just make it harder to control until I end up going into a real rut.”
You nodded, you knew when it came down to it, it would be fine. You just didn’t want to deal with it right now. Right now, you wanted to finish breakfast and start on your nest, and you had already taken a mental stock of everything in the apartment that could be used. You really needed Dabi to go out and get more.
“Can you go to the store for me?” He looked up from his plate with confusion on his face. Why would you want to send him away right now?
“Why? I’m not leaving you alone when you’re in heat.” He said it like he was pointing out the obvious, and you guessed he was. But you had to get more materials, and you knew he wouldn’t let you go out either.
“Please? I just need some more blankets, and maybe a couple pillows…” It took a few seconds as you sorted through your brain of what to tell him to get, but you saw the understanding dawn across his features as he placed his empty plate down on the counter across from you.
“Can’t you make do with what we have? I’m not leaving you here unprotected. Not right now. Can’t it wait until after your heat? Or better yet when we are set up somewhere more permanent?”
Your thoughts stopped. He didn’t want you to nest? He wanted you to wait for a more permanent place? If you had learned anything over the last week of being with him, you knew nothing would be permanent, which meant that you would never get to nest. So he didn’t want you to nest?
Dabi could see the crestfallen look cross your face, knew that he said something wrong, something that upset you. Just like he always does. He wanted to make you happy, he really did, but he wasn’t going to leave you unprotected when you were in the middle of a heat, especially freshly bonded, with heroes  after you.
“I’ll see if I can get ahold of kurogiri, maybe he can find a way to get what you nee-.”
“No!” Your scent was quickly turning sour as your anxiety and anger mounted. “I don’t want him to taint the scent of anything, I don’t want anyone else touching it.”
“Y/N” His voice was a warning. One that you ignored.
“Dabi pl-“
“No!” Your omega let out a chirp as Dabi slammed his hands down onto the counter, them lighting up with blue flames as he glared at you. Why wouldn’t you listen? He was just trying to keep you safe, didn’t you understand what could happen? Did you understand the danger you were in? What would happen if Endeavor found you, in heat, all alone, freshly bonded to a villain?
Tears pricked at your eyes but you refused to cry, instead you turned on your heel going back into the room, slamming the door shut behind you and clicking the lock on the door in place much to Dabi’s annoyance. You could hear him right outside the door as you collapsed onto the bed burying your face into the pillow blocking out the sounds of him pounding on the door.
“Y/N, we both know I can just burn this door down if you don’t open it right fucking now.”
The pounding was getting louder.
“I swear to god-“
“What?! What are you going to do? Use your fire, burn it down? Use your alpha voice and force me to open it and to listen to you? It doesn’t matter.” You knew that your sour scent was probably seeping through every inch of the apartment, being contained only by the scent proof barriers. You didn’t even try to contain it, to seem less upset than you actually were.
Everything stopped, it was quiet, other than the soft muttering of curses on the other side of the door before they moved away off somewhere else in the apartment. You took several deep breaths to calm yourself, inhaling his scent from the pillow. It didn’t help. You could feel your frustration and anger mounting until the tears pricked at your eyes. He didn’t even listen to you, didn’t let you explain how badly you needed this. He just shut you down. Was this always going to be a thing? Where he just expected you to head to his every whim?
You realized that he wasn’t the same person as he was all those years ago, that he was used to getting his way by now, but you didn’t think he would act like he was. That he would just forget how Important it was to you to be able to nest after not being able to for so many years. To just forget how cruel it was to deny an omega their basic needs.
An hour or two had gone by and he had stayed away, ignoring you just as much as you ignored him. You had just gotten comfortable on the bed, making what little of a makeshift nest you could trying to comfort yourself when there was another knock on the door, this one being more friendly, lighthearted even, accompanied with a smell that confused you. Was someone else here?
“Y/N? It’s Toga… Dabi went out for a bit and asked me to keep you company, can I come in?”
You hesitated for a minute before crawling out of the bed and moving to unlock the door, peering at Toga and behind her to confirm that Dabi was indeed not waiting for an opportunity to bust through the door. When you were satisfied you opened it all the way allowing her to step inside your bedroom but she kept her distance, wrinkling her nose at your lingering scent, and chose to sit on the ground at the doorway instead, playing with her knife between her fingers as you retreated back to your bed.
“Dabi said you were nesting and in heat, I know better than to get too close.”
“Fuck him, you can do whatever you want. If he want’s to argu-“
“He’s not the one I’m worried about.”
You quieted down, confusion crossing your face. Why would she be afraid of an omega?
“My mom was an omega, you guys can be scary protective sometimes.” Looking at Toga sitting on the ground hugging her knees you realized again just how young she really was… You guessed she was about 17 but you knew that she had been on the run for awhile, when exactly did she leave home?
“I bet she was super protective of you. Omega’s are always protective of their pups.”
“I think so, she did try to kill me once though.” The way Toga said that statement sounded so casual that it took you a moment to fully understand what she was saying. She kept going though, unfazed.
“I remember I tried to crawl into her nest right before I left, to say goodbye. I was just going to give her a hug, a little present I made her and leave, maybe take some blood to remember her with but I wasn’t going to hurt her. I would never hurt her.” Toga looked up at for confirmation that you understood what she was saying before she continued. You tugged the fur blanket up around you for comfort, having a sinking feeling in your gut.
“She woke up though. What a shame really, she was so cute when she was sleeping. She used to tell me the same thing, that I was so cute, but after what had happened at school with that boy, she didn’t call me cute anymore. She woke up… I didn’t know that she had a knife, I didn’t think she would actually hurt me… she just kept screaming to… get out.” Toga sounded far off, like she was reliving that night and not sitting on your bedroom floor. You wanted to hug her, but you also didn’t know if that would be okay, so you sat silently listening to her speak in a hushed whisper.
“So yea, she stabbed me and I left. It was not cute.”  The way she perked right back up gave you whiplash. Like she hadn’t just told you that her own mother had hurt her. Sure, your parents had sold you, but they didn’t out and out stab you. Looking at her and Dabi’s background it was no wonder they were villains.
“She stabbed you?” The shock was apparent in your voice, causing Toga’s bright smile to appear again, her long canines peeking out.
“Yea, I still have the scar, do you wanna see?” Before you could even answer, Toga jumped up from her spot, pulling her sweater up revealing a nasty scar just under her ribs causing you to flinch at the sight. A smile on her face as she poked it a couple times. “It was a really lucky aim too. A centimeter in any direction and she would of hit something important. I think it was her way of showing she still loved me. She didn’t want me to die yet. She knew I had work to do. She’s such a good mom.”
You watched Toga, dumbfounded as she pulled her sweater back down into it’s place smoothing her skirt before leaning back against the door frame, her knife ever present in her hand, like it was a comfort object.
“I go visit her every once in a while, when I can. Just pop in for a quick hello, but I make sure not to wake her up anymore. I just leave her presents right outside of her nest, I know better now than to go in.”
A chime sounded throughout the room making you jump, Toga waving to you to relax as she pulled out a cellphone glancing at it for a moment before typing out a quick reply, her smile widening.
“Twice says hi by the way.” You could see the girlish charm radiating off of her. She looked like a lovesick kid, more so than usual.
“Hi back? What’s going on with you two by the way, if I can ask?”
She glanced back up at you, confusion crossing her face like you asked her such an odd question.
“What do you mean? He’s my friend.”
“O-oh I just mean that you two seem really close… like you were courting or something.” The blush that settled across Toga’s cheeks was distinctly different than what you had previously seen on her. Like she was actually embarrassed about something.
“Why would you think that? The only person I am courting with is Deku.”
Confusion crossed your face now, recognizing Deku as one of Shoto’s friends. His real name was Midoriya, an omega that was doing fairly well in the hero course despite his secondary sex. You were pretty sure he was not, indeed, courting a villain, almost 100% sure.  Was this one of her obsessive fantasies?
“I’m sorry, I just… thought the two of you seemed like you liked each other like that. Sorry I must have misread the situation.” You treaded lightly around the subject, not wanting to push it. You knew that Beta’s weren’t as possessive of their mates usually, but with Toga you could never really be sure how she would react. Still the blush didn’t leave her cheeks, and you noticed her biting her lip for a moment before her phone chimed again and she quickly picked it back up typing back a reply lightning fast.
“So where did T-.. Dabi go, I thought he was adamant about staying here?” You cleared your throat to cover up your mess up. Toga didn’t even blink. You needed to make sure you remembered not to let his identity slip. These were his friends, sure, but he didn’t trust them with this, and you weren’t about to screw it up.
“Hmm? Oh I think he went on a mission? I’m not super sure, Twice and I were watching a movie when Kurogiri showed up at our place saying that Dabi needed me to come hangout with you. Twice tried to come but Dabi made it pretty clear that he didn’t want any boys near you. Which none of us blame him, heat’s make omega’s crazy.”
“I’m not crazy.” You clenched your fists into the fur blanket, feeling your anger mounting at her words.
“Oh but aren’t you? I’ve seen what happens to an omega on heat. Not only do y’all just want to breed like crazy but you get mega cranky. Worse than any normal period. I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with that, I much rather deal with the blood and the cramps.” She wasn’t even looking at you as she spoke, her eyes glued to the screen in front of her with such focus, like she was desperately trying to understand something that was confusing her.
You could feel your frustration rising but knew that lashing out would only prove everyone’s point. You weren’t being crazy, what was crazy was telling an omega in heat to wait to nest. What was crazy was going out on a mission and leaving you behind but refusing to go to the damned store for you. What the fuck was wrong with him. What was crazy was having you being baby-sat by an immature lovesick beta that didn’t understand anything, including her own feelings, let alone how you felt.
You were mad. At Dabi, at Toga, at the whole world. Omega’s were constantly looked down on in society which was stupid considering without them Alpha’s wouldn’t exist. You cannot have an alpha without an omega. They were yin and yang, the sun to the moon, two sides of the same coin, yet for some reason omega’s were treated like dirt and were considered weak and needy. Not to mention, apparently crazy for their fucking hormones. Alpha’s weren’t talked down upon for their ruts. For their stupid want to protect and be possessive of what was theirs.
You were livid, to the point that you were pretty sure if you had a powerful fire quirk like Dabi that the whole room would be aflame, but no. Instead you had a weak quirk that was perfect for an omega. One that didn’t even extend to other people and half the time didn’t work. Honestly you didn’t understand your quirk, Endeavor had decided early on that it was unnecessary for you to fully test the limits of your quirk as you weren’t going to be a hero and therefore didn’t need it. He just needed to know that you wouldn’t burn from his families’ fire. You had never cared about it until now, but for some reason, now it mattered to you. You wanted to know how it worked. Maybe if you could figure it out, maybe you could better know how to protect yourself, and Dabi would stop treating you like you were a porcelain doll. That needed to be told what to do and when to do it in order for you to be safe.
Maybe you could become an actual member of the league, not just a housewife omega. One that people listened to. Maybe you could help them take down Endeavor, while still protecting the rest of the Todoroki’s that didn’t do anything wrong. Maybe-
“Earth to Y/N.”
“Huh?” Your eyes focused on Toga, not realizing you had spaced out. She was looking at you with concern, you assumed she had been trying to get your attention for a couple minutes.
“Dabi’s on his way back.”
“Oh…” Your thoughts quieted down to one thought alone, that you wanted to fight for what you had. That you wanted to learn how to protect yourself and not rely so much on the other’s around you. That you wanted a say in your future and you wanted to fight tooth and nail for the freedom for you and Dabi to be together and have whatever life the two of you wanted without worries about constantly running from stuck up heroes that thought they knew everything. You wanted to be a strong omega, that could hold her own next to her alpha. That could take care of herself and her family. He was yours and you were his and you weren’t going to let anything change that. You were going to prove to Dabi and to the rest of the world that you weren’t a cry baby.
You heard the front door unlock and open and you jumped out of the bed pushing past Toga to meet Dabi in the living room only to stop in your tracks at the end of the hallway, your eyes wide.
“Is this fucking enough?”

Napoleon Bonaparte
When you come back through that door with a fascinated child holding your hand, it’s him you meet first again, and the tears are already glossing his eyes over before you can say anything.
He literally has no words when you smile gently, saying it’s his. Napoleon swallows the bump in his throat before making his way to the both of you, holding the two of you in his arms for only god knows how long.
“I.. can’t wait to live my life with you both, nununche,” he mumbles into your hair, ears slightly tinged, only causing you to laugh at his adorable antics.
As a father, he isn’t very strict, and he isn’t all that good in child-rearing, either. But he tries — you have to keep reminding yourself of this when you catch them in a compromising position, usually when you see your child holding a foil with a goofy smile.
“Nunuche.. I can explain,” Napoleon says calmly when you first find the two of them — well, three; it seems Jean was in on this little practice, though he quickly bolted when he saw you — parading around the training room with the foils.
“Mamma, papa said he was the King! He teached me how to be King!” Your child exclaims, flailing the weapon around excitedly as your gaze only darkens.
“Well, you see, I meant emperor, but—” his words die down when he sees your unimpressed face practically dripping with the murderous intent he’s so used to fighting against on the battle field
Slowly kneeling down to meet your child’s eyes, you see him whispering something incoherent before the little one nods seriously, slowly putting down the foil.
Then, as if counting down ‘3, 2, 1′, Napoleon immediately hoists your child up in his arms, running out of the room as both his laughter and your child’s squeals echo throughout the halls.
“Napoleone di Buonaparte, get your ass back here right now!” You scream, running after them.
“3, 2, 1 — Vive L’Empereur!” The two of them scream back, before bursting into laughter. They’re always in sync. It’s exasperating.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
“That child is.. mine?” He asks, slightly jaw-slacked, pointing at the child that undeniably looks like him, if the identical beauty mark or violet eyes are anything to go by.
“Do you.. not want—”
“I never said that,” he instantly cuts you off, going over to kneel at the confused child. With a slight smile, in an attempt to hold his tears back, he manages, “So.. how was spending time with that clumsy mother of yours?”
Mozart doesn’t really know how to spend time with his child, though he’s clearly not opposed to carrying the little rascal around on his shoulders, or dragging the child clinging onto his leg around when stubbornness bites.
You often don’t know what he’s thinking whenever he spends time with your child, or the whole situation, but rest assured, he wouldn’t change it for the world, despite how he may look.
A clear example of this is when you once walked into the piano room only to see your little darling on top of the grand white piano itself, snoozing on top of a small comforter whilst your lover plays the soft tunes you’ve grown to love.
Shock holds you captive as you stare at the lovely sight, before finally trailing off, “Mozart..”
Without so much as glancing at you, he replies, voice hushed in a soft tone you don’t hear so often. The blissful smile on his face speaks thousands of words.
“I thought you were the only one foolish enough to let your guard down in front of me… It seems I was wrong.”
Leonardo da Vinci
He had an inkling the moment he saw the child sporting caramel eyes so similar to his own, tawny gaze regarding the large mansion with wonder.
And when you did reveal that the child is actually his, he only pulled you close to his chest, hoisting the little one up with his other arm.
“Papa has a lot of time to make up to you, doesn’t he?”
Leonardo is good with children, if it isn’t obvious. Not in your conventional dad way wherein he brings the child to school — in fact, he probably fell asleep in the hallway just when the two were about to leave — but he's awfully good at keeping his child entertained.
Running around the mansions, creating new inventions, learning a new language — sometimes, you have to remind yourself that this child’s father is literally Leonardo da Vinci.
A position you often see them in, however, is snoozing on the floor, probably near the library, your child a small ball curled into Leonardo’s arms and head in the crook of his neck.
“Again? Really?” You can only huff, though that doesn’t stop the small smile from spreading on your face as you brush the locks of hair out of your lover’s face.
“Cara mia,” he rasps out, cracking a bleary eye open and gripping your wrist softly. Then, he smiles, all sorts of soft and lovely and.. unguarded.
“You two.. are the best things that have happened to me.”
Arthur Conan Doyle
Arthur tries swallowing back the lump in his throat when he sees you standing in front of that damned door, though to no avail as a tear slips.
He starts full-on crying when you say that you’re back for good and that the child is his, and he’ll have to be comforted by yours and your child’s tiny arms before he even plans to stop.
“Ah, crying like that on our first meeting… Don’t you think your fath — I’m a bit embarrassing?” He asks, sniffling as he musters a smile.
Your child giggles, blue eyes crinkling. “No! Mommy told me a whooooole lot about you, daddy!”
He has to stop himself from sobbing again.
Arthur wastes no time in making up for what he’s missed, and every single day is one you’d find the two of them either in town or messing about at home.
If not, then they’re probably just chilling in the comforts of his room, doing god knows what. The day you peek in to see what exactly they were up to was a blessed day.
Maneuvering yourself in a way that lets you see through the tiny crack of the open door, your jaw drops at the adorable sight of your child in a tiny deerstalker and trench coat far too big for his form, Arthur nodding with a serious look on his face.
“So, Watson, do you think crepes make mummy happier?” Your child asks, holding his magnifying glass up — one you’re sure is from Leonardo — like a mic in front of Arthur’s face.
He strokes his chin for a moment, before answering, “Seeing her reaction when we gave her the ones we bought yesterday, I deduce they do, Sherlock.”
“Good dedoo – deduck – deduction, Watson! I thought so too.”
Your heart literally melts. The two are far too cute for you, you having to calm yourself before walking in with the widest smile on your face. Dorks.
Vincent van Gogh
When you meet those familiar, cerulean eyes from your place in front of the door, they’re already glossy in seconds, a flurry of emotions clear on Vincent’s face, though his smile says it all.
“Is it too much to say I’ve been waiting for you this whole time?”
Vincent would be practically wallowing in regret that he wasn’t able to be a part of his child’s life for the first few years, leading him to do any and everything that will cause his child to smile. In simpler terms, he’s basically wrapped around the little one’s finger.
He’s so adorable and happy that he’s blessed with your lovely child, and there’s an immediate smile on his face when he so much as thinks about the little blondie.
He literally makes the other residents question whether or not they want a child too.
Their bonding time is painting and, more often than not, it ends up with all three of you cramped in the shower, scrubbing furiously at the sticky paint on their skin.
“I’m sorry for having you do this all the time,” Vincent’s soft voice only makes you sigh in relaxation as he massages your shoulders from behind you, causing your fingers to halt in their journey of rubbing some blue paint off your child.
“It’ll take more than that if you wanna make it up to me,” you hum, leaning back into his chest and looking up into his bright eyes.
Your lips were just about to meet, when —
“Mam, I’m not clean yet!”
You groan, Vincent only laughing as you meet the crossed arms of your child pouting child.
“Don’t give your mammie too much of a hard time, okay?” He never forgets to take care of you above all, of course.
Theodorus van Gogh
When he first sees you after years with a child, his child, grasping your hand, Theo has to literally disappear to cool his head off because he’s angry.
Not at you, no, never, but at himself. That he wasn’t there for his child, for you, and god, even if he were, would he have been a good father?
“Hon — Schatje,” he starts, running his fingers through his already messy hair and staring at you with eyes that practically bleed insecurity, his voice breaking. “How am I supposed to take care of a child when I couldn’t even take care of you?”
After many reassuring words and gentle touches, Theo’s finally okay, holding up and scrutinising your child much like how he does a painting. He’s, well, awkward.
Theo is surprisingly very gentle with your child because he honestly doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing.
He’s also very grounded and doesn’t fall for cute little tricks that much either, so out of the residents, he’d be one of the better fathers.
“Nee.” “Papje, pleaaase?” “No. Non. Nee.”
Your lover’s fixed refusal causes you to peek your head into a lovely picture. Theo was holding a chocolate bar high above his head, steely gaze fixed on your young child with his puppy dog eyes in full view.
“Je mama said no chocolate, right?” Your heart warms when you realise he remembered your scoldings, though you can’t help but to feel bad for your whining baby.
“Theo,” you say, both their heads turning towards you. “How about you give the little baby some chocolate and we all enjoy some pancakes, yeah?”
The way both their eyes shine almost identically is adorable.
Dazai Osamu
When you showed up again with the child in hand, one he knows is his, his first thought, first wish, is that for that tiny thing to not be his. Because no one knows how harsh this world is more than the man who wished to end it all, so much more than once.
But Dazai makes up his mind when he sees you and your — his child staring up at him with those eyes that look so much like your own. He makes up his mind, despite his own continuous suffering, that he’ll never let this child go through what he had to.
“Was I staring too much?” He smiles, slightly sad and, well, empty. “I suppose it’s because the little one looks far too much like you.” Bright. Too bright for me.
As a father, he’s surprisingly really good with children? He quite enjoys seeing your child smile more than anything, and one way he knows how to do so is by perching the little one on his shoulders, running around the mansion as his hands intertwine with small, tiny fingers.
You don’t know whether to yell at him and his close-eyed grin, or simply laugh at the resonating giggles of your child. Probably both as you chase the two down the halls.
Dazai often zones out whenever he’s playing with your child, a look you can only describe as pure bliss on those handsome features of his. As you stare up at him, confusion clear on your features, you ask, “Hey, Dazai, why do you.. Zone out so much? Whenever you’re with, you know,” you motion to the snoozing one in between the both of you.
“Why do I zone out, you ask?” He gives you a smile, a real one this time, and gently pokes at the little ones cheeks. “I think.. I’ve found a wonderful reason to live, is all.”
Isaac Newton
“That’s… mine??” “That?” “... It?” “It?” “The.. child?”
Isaac is very flustered, for lack of better terms. He can barely manage the children he and Napoleon go see intermittently, but his own child? Lord, help him.
He gets awfully flushed whenever he’s carrying his child around the mansion because even then, he isn’t spared by Arthur and Dazai’s teasing remarks — in fact, it only seems to have gotten worse.
Isaac is surprisingly good at getting your rascal child to sleep with his bedtime stories, which are usually all his unsaid rambles.
“And did daddy get that bruise on his forehead because he slipped while chasing Uncle Dazai and Uncle Arthur?”
Your child nods, bright eyes sparkling and toothy grin showing. “Daddy also said, ‘Get back here, you devilish imbeciles!’”
Your accusatory gaze turns towards Isaac, who averts his eyes, holding an ice pack to his bruising forehead.
“I-In my defense, they were—”
“One more time, Isaac, and I’m changing this baby’s legal godfathers to the two imbeciles you love so much.”
Gaping, his eyes widen to the size of saucers, “You wouldn’t.”
“Try me.”
He is now a grumbling mess when the two are around his child, but the lack of chasing them around with a stick in hand can be counted as an upgrade.
Jean d’Arc
When you walk through that door once more, nervously telling your lover that this child is his, you’re afraid of his reaction — after all, Jean is, despite his vampiric aging, barely an adult himself.
His jaw drops and he can’t stop staring at you nor the child with his inky locks, and you have to help him sit and calm down.
“Papa?” Your child asks, staring up at the still slightly panicked Jean as you hold your breath.
He stares for a moment, mouth wide, before finally, finally smiling, albeit a little awkward and rough around the edges. “Yes, little one?”
He’s extremely unaccustomed to this whole parent thing and can barely do anything without asking you first, so he feels bad quite often for having to lean on you so much.
Although he barely knows how to handle a sobbing child, nor can he entertain the child very well, you find that the both of them are quite content in each other’s presence as is.
Jean, well, looks ethereal as the sun shines through the windows in his room, a gentle smile gracing his face as he stares at his sleeping child.
He utters your name, causing you to look up, only to find him tracing circles around your child’s soft skin.
“Is this.. how it’s like to be happy?”
William Shakespeare
When Shakespeare wakes up to the news that you are, in fact, back at the mansion with a little surprise, he’s already there in no time.
He didn’t expect the little surprise to be a little child that’s practically an identical copy of him. But he’s always been more of a shoot first, ask questions later type of guy, so he immediately whisks you off to his manor, much to the exasperation of the residents who were surprisingly enjoying their time with the little Shakespeare lookalike.
Except he doesn’t really need to ask questions, because he’s already figured everything out through your soft, slightly nervous gaze, and your lovely little mannerisms.
“Alas, it seems the Heavens were kind enough to grant my wish,” he says as he stares at your child, only smiling to meet your confused gaze. “For I only wished you weren’t too lonely without my presence.”
William is always with his child, whatever the circumstances. Though he quite enjoys showing off his child, he’s also keen on spending his every waking second with the little tyke because he knows how it feels like to grow up lonely, and he wouldn't bestow that upon his own little one.
“Darling, it appears I has’t gotten myself into a slight predicament.”
If you could, you would have snapped a picture of your smiling lover practically itching to get up, yet unable to do so due to the sleeping child in his lap.
“And how did you get yourself into this predicament, my love?” You tease, your own smile on your face. He has a habit of reading his writings aloud, and it seems the little one fell asleep to William’s gentle voice.
“My works seem to be but a mere bedtime story to this little one,” he motions to the child, his smile softening. “I wonder why it does not dishearten me.”
Comte de Saint-Germain
“I was hoping you’d be back, ma chérie.” His perfunctory smile betrays the inner flurry of emotions inside him as he glances towards the child. “With a lovely little thing in hand.”
“Your lovely little thing,” you say gently, and the surprise outlining his normally composed face is something you’d forever save in your mind.
Comte is wrapped around the little one’s finger, his rotten spoiling being the effect of not being in your child’s life for a good while, and, of course, his indispensable regret for having you come back to him.
Many times have you asked Sebastian the whereabouts of your lover and your child, only for him to give you the look, responding that they were out yet again, and are probably not coming back without a few shopping bags in hand.
Then, to finally put a stop to it all, you decided to conduct a harmless experiment.
Placing a few coins on one side of his desk, a toy in the middle, and a beloved fruit on the side. After explaining to him that it’s to see what your child’s fate would be — picking between fortune, fun, and, well, snacks, you think — he simply leans back, interest shining in those eyes of his.
Unsurprisingly for you, your child pushes all these away in a second, opting to hug the wide-eyed man on the soft armchair behind the desk.
“And what.. does this mean, ma chérie?” He asks, honest-to-god confused as his hands slowly wrap around your child’s form.
You smile softly, “Isn’t it obvious, silly? The little rascal loves you more than anything.”
His eyes are suspiciously glossy before he laughs it off, preparing for yet another shopping spree — you regret everything.
Sebastian
He only gives you a knowing smile when you pass through the door with a young child gripping your hand.
“So.. this is the little one, is it?” He asks, tone soft as he walks towards you, wrapping a sturdy arm around your waist and meeting eyes with his child. “I’m a strict father, mind you.”
“Sebastian!” “I was joking. Slightly.”
Despite being a father, Sebastian is as strict and precise as ever around the mansion, rarely having to leave either his work or his family unattended due to his impeccable time management skills.
And if he struggles with both, well, he just has to merge them into one task, doesn’t he? Many are the times wherein the residents catch Sebastian working, his little runt on his tail or on his hip.
“They’re at it again, you know,” Mozart says in passing, only causing you to groan.
“Sebastian! How many times have I told you not in the kitchen?” You exclaim, walking into the kitchen to find your lover and your child tackling yet another chore together.
It seemed to be baking this time, if the flour on both of their faces says anything.
“Mama!” Your child exclaims with powdered hands as Sebastian says blankly, “We’re doing chores.”
You merely roll your eyes, sighing as you walk out the room. Your apology comes later when a sloppy cupcake makes its way into your view.
Your eyes move up to your proud looking child, hair obviously patted down in an attempt to look presentable while your lover sports a tiny grin on his own face.
“We made this for you, mom! Papa said he wanted to make you reaaaally happy.”
Sebastian’s head instantly snaps down, eyes narrowing, “Hey.”
You can only laugh at your two babies, taking a bite of the surprisingly good and sweeter than an average cupcake.

You sighed, letting your eyes wander around the ballroom packed with pretentious people wearing expensive gowns and suits. The chatter was too loud to hear even your own thoughts and you scowled, feeling a headache coming on.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw the familiar looming figure of Enji Todoroki making his way in your direction. Before he could reach you, however, you slipped between the numerous people to make your way to the bar that was set up on the opposite end of the room.
Glancing over your shoulder, you let out a sigh of relief when you realized the man wasn’t following you.
The bastard had been trying since you turned 18 to arrange a marriage between you and his youngest son Shoto Todoroki ― even though the two of you were vehemently against it. But the man didn’t know how to take no for an answer and proceeded to harass you every chance he got, which was typically at functions such as the one you were currently attending.
You had long since lost sight of your parents, not that you cared. Typically they would keep you by their side to show you off and introduce you to potential suitors in hopes of making connections through marriage.
The very idea made you scoff.
As you took the drink offered from the bartender, you gave him a soft thanks before turning around. Spinning on your heel, you let out a sharp gasp when you bumped face-first into a firm chest. The jolt caused your drink to slosh over the rim and onto your hand.
You cursed, stepping back as you looked up at the wide-eyed man before you. He wore a rapidly reddening blush that burnt all the way up to his cute elf ears.
“I-I’m so sorry!” he cried, reaching into his pocket to fish out a handkerchief, taking your glass from your hand to quickly wipe the mess on your skin away, “I didn’t realize I was standing so close, I’m sorry.”
“I-It’s okay…” you whispered, your tongue feeling heavy in your mouth at the sight of him.
He was tall with indigo hair that stuck up messily on the back of his head. Typically such a thing would be frowned upon ― people in high society desire to look their best, after all. Despite that, he wore a perfectly tailored tux and an expensive gold watch on his wrist. As he gazed down at his task of cleaning your hand, you noticed how long his eyelashes were as they brushed against his cheeks with every blink.
“There...I think I got it all,” he breathed, tucking the handkerchief away into his pocket without a care that it was wet with wine. At least it was white wine and not red, you mused, “You should probably wash your hands or it’ll dry your skin out or something.”
You raised a brow, not sure if such a thing could really happen. Still, you smiled and thanked him, breezing past him to find a bathroom. You still smelled like alcohol now so you needed to wash it off anyway.
When you returned to the ballroom, there was no sign of the attractive indigo hair colored man anywhere. Part of you was disappointed but you brushed it off as something silly. No point in pining after a man you spoke 10 words with after all.
You brushed off that chance meeting, not even paying it a second thought. In fact, you were certain you were either never going to meet him again or that you wouldn’t remember him even if you did.
It was wishful thinking on your end, however, because at yet another pointless high-society function, you caught sight of the messy haired man once more.
“Hey,” you greeted, making him turn away from the conversation he was having with a pretty periwinkle haired girl and tall, blonde man.
“Oh, it’s you,” he smiled, gaze softening from the guarded look he held when you’d greeted him.
From that look alone, you knew he was from a prominent family similar to yours. The type of family where you had to hold your tongue and be on guard for any shit that might come your way. It was an unpleasant, stressful existence.
“It’s me,” you smiled, nursing your glass with two hands, unsure of where to go from there, “I um...wondered what your name might be?”
He looked surprised for a second before smiling an ever-so-gentle smile, “Call me Tamaki.”
“I’m ______,” you introduced, reaching forward to shake his hand.
His grip was firm and practiced but his hand was a bit calloused from what you didn’t know. It still felt nice. His hand was bigger than yours, strong with long longers.
“These are my friends Nejire Hado and Mirio Togata,” he introduced, motioning to them.
You smiled in greeting, recognizing only the Hado name. Her family owned one of the biggest shipping companies in Japan. You wondered what Mirio and Tamaki did.
“Can I ask what your last name is?” Nejire asked.
Just as you were about to open your mouth to answer, you heard your name being called. You felt your blood freeze in your veins. You cringed, your distaste clearly written on your face to the three people standing in front of you.
“Mr. Todoroki,” you beamed fakely as you turned around, “How nice to see you!”
“My Shoto is looking for you,” he grumbled, arms crossed over his chest as he glared down at you.
“I doubt that,” you breathed.
“What was that?” he asked, brows furrowed.
“I said that’s great, I’ll go find him!” you bowed briefly before brushing past him to disappear into the crowd. Looking over your shoulder, you rolled your eyes when you were finally out of sight.
What a pain in the ass that man was.
-
You hummed as you swung your shopping bags by your side, enjoying the setting sun beaming on your skin. It was a rare day you got to have completely for yourself with no escorts or stupid functions to be seen. In celebration, you went out shopping with your parent’s credit card ― not that they’d ever even notice.
“Excuse me!” a soft voice called from behind.
On reflex, you paused and turned around, eyes wide as you caught the familiar form of Tamaki jogging towards you. He seemed surprised as he stopped in front of you, realizing who you were.
“You…” you mumbled, “You’re not stalking me or something right?”
Immediately his eyes burst red, shaking his head wildly, “N-No of course not! Why would you think that? It’s just coincidence I swear―”
“I’m kidding!” you laughed, patting his shoulder to calm him down, “What’s up?”
“You dropped this back there,” he sighed, scratching the back of his head almost nervously as he held up your folded handkerchief.
“Oh! Thank you!” you beamed, taking it from his hands.
There was a beat of silence, both of you standing there awkwardly unsure of what to say or what to do.
“Hey, you wanna get dinner or something?” you asked suddenly, obviously startling him.
“Wh-What?”
You shrugged, “You don’t have to. I figure since we’re both here, it’s almost dinner time...why not?”
He was quiet for a second, thinking it over before smiling with a soft nod, “Sure. Lead the way.”
“Oh, a gentleman,” you teased, enjoying the way his ears turned red in response.
He was a cute thing, wasn’t he? Shy and soft spoken yet still holding a strong disposition due to no doubt being raised in high society.
By the time the two of you were seated in the fancy restaurant, the sun had dipped beneath the horizon. The sky was cast a deep orange that was rapidly vanishing by the minute. The bright chandelier in the center of the room cast a relaxing light over the both of you. You moved automatically to fold the napkin over your lap with your hands folded over it. Tamaki moved the same way, flashing you a sheepish smile once the two of you were left in silence.
What you planned to be a nice, pleasant dinner ended up in a way you hadn’t expected.
In his bed.
His hand felt like heaven wrapped around your throat, giving just the smallest bit of pressure that made your head rush. He stared down at you with heated eyes, lip tucked between his teeth as he listened to the way you whimpered beneath him. You squeezed around his cock so tight he swore every time you came you almost took him with you.
Sweet Tamaki turned out to be one of the best lays of your life.
Little did you know, it was that little tumble in the sheets that would send your entire way of life ablaze.
You had no idea how it happened; what went from a casual one-night stand grew into weekly outings together to have lunch or dinner, sometimes breakfast if you could manage it eventually morphing into what you could only describe as love.
Whenever you laid your eyes on the messy-haired man, your heart raced and you felt a smile that you had no hope of fighting grow across your face. He seemed to be in the same boat, always having a deep need to touch you ― holding your hand in his, pressing a kiss to your forehead, or simply holding you in his lap.
The night you brought him to one of the famous, high-society functions as your date was the biggest mistake of your life.
“Are you nervous?” he asked teasingly, squeezing your hand in his larger one.
You beamed up at him, shaking your head, “No, of course not!” In fact, it was the opposite ― you were more than a little excited to finally reveal your relationship. Truthfully, you hadn’t thought about the possibility of it being something that could end badly. Your parents hadn’t known you were seeing anyone, it’s not like you were close enough to them to actually reveal much personal information about yourself.
Usually whenever you did, it turned into a lecture that ended with you crying into your pillow feeling like shit with their harsh words echoing in your mind.
However, that night, you found yourself torn from Tamaki’s grasp. Your parents held the most hateful scowls you’d ever seen them wear as they regarded Tamaki’s parents who glared in the exact same manner.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” your mother hissed, yanking on your arm to pull you away from your boyfriend.
“Wh-What?!” you cried, struggling to get out of her iron grip, “Let go!”
“Don’t make a scene,” she hissed, tugging you harsher.
“We’ll talk when we get home,” you father hummed, voice colder than usual.
You glanced over your shoulder to see Tamaki being dragged in the opposite direction with a similar look of despair on his face as he watched you vanish from sight ― the both of you locked in a state of confusion.
Once home, the air around both of your parents was terrifying. Instinctively, you sat on the couch in the lounge with your head down as the two of them paced back and forth, collecting their thoughts.
“How dare you make a fool of us like that, _____?!” your mother cried, making you flinch.
“I-I’m sorry but I don’t understand,” you muttered, keeping your voice meek to keep from angering them further.
Your father scoffed, “Do you even know who that boy was?!”
“Tamaki Amajiki…” you replied quickly.
“Are you dating him or something?” your mother grilled, hands on his hips as she halted her pacing in front of you.
You nodded, not seeing a point in lying, “W-We’ve been together for about 6 months now…”
Your father scoffed, “You are never to see that boy again, do you understand me?”
“But why?” you asked, finally looking up.
Your parents looked bewildered, “You know we have nothing to do with that damn Amajiki family, ______. You are never to speak to their kind again.”
With that, they both stormed out of the room, leaving you more confused than before. You didn’t know that you were supposed to have nothing to do with them. It wasn’t like your parents told you anything, your older brother was the one in line to take over the family business so you rarely ever even got word of the goings on behind the scenes.
Your heart was aching as you went to bed that night, not sure what it was you were meant to do. You had texted Tamaki, seen he read your text but he never responded. It only made you hurt that much more and before you knew it, tears were dampening your pillow.
You had just about cried yourself to sleep when the sound of your balcony doors clicking open startled you upright.
“It’s just me,” Tamaki whispered, closing the doors as quietly as possible, drawing the curtains so no one could see in.
“Tamaki!” you whimpered, bolting out of bed to wrap your arms around his middle. He immediately wrapped his own around you and pressed a kiss to the top of your head, “They said I can’t see you anymore!”
His eyes softened, cupping your tear-stained cheeks to press a kiss against your forehead, “I know. Mine said the same to me.”
“I don’t understand why!” you whimpered, fresh tears falling down your cheeks.
He shook his head, “Our familiar apparently had...some old rivalry that turned sour.”
You scoffed, “That’s stupid. It doesn’t affect us, why should we suffer for it?”
He sighed, leading you towards the bed, “I agree. All we can do is fight it, right?”
“You mean…?” you looked hopefully at him with wide eyes and he smiled.
“I wouldn’t let something like this take you from me, _____,” he promised, moving to lay beside you, pulling the blankets over your forms, “I’ll be gone before the sun rises but for now...sleep, okay?”
You nodded, burying yourself in his chest, taking in the sweet scent you grew to adore. With his heart hammering rhythmically in your ear, you fell into a peaceful sleep you were sure you weren’t going to get that night.
Tamaki’s effect on you was just that; a sense of security. You weren’t sure if you’d ever be able to live without it now.
Things were a bit different with you and Tamaki once you discovered you weren’t supposed to be together. It was more difficult to get away in secret, your parents for once paying actual attention to what you did. Tamaki’s were doing the same.
You found yourself sneaking out of your window in the dead of night more than you ever thought you would. It was worth it, to see the sly grin on Tamaki’s face when you texted him to warn him you were outside.
The two of you made it work, though. Six months blossomed into ten; the two of you edging on a whole year together.
One night, however, as he crawled onto your balcony, you could tell something was off.
“What’s the matter?” you asked as he sat stiffly on your bed, your hand held tightly in his trembling ones.
“______,” he sighed, head hanging low.
Your heart ached in your chest through your anxiety. You waited for him to talk, watching the way he opened his mouth several times only to close it when he changed his mind.
“This is…” he sighed, shaking his head, “This can’t work anymore.”
Those words shattered your heart in your chest and you pulled your hand from his grasp. He didn’t fight to get it back, avoiding looking at what he knew were your tear-filled eyes.
“Wh-What happened?” you whispered, voice trembling.
He shook his head again, “All this sneaking around...what’s it going to get us?” he stood up, his back to you, “Whether we’re together for a year or 5 years...are we going to sneak around forever? We can’t do that.”
“You’re...you’re breaking up with me?” you asked pitifully.
He hesitated for a moment before nodding, “Eventually I need to be with someone I can be with. Our parents won’t let us do that...so there isn’t a point anymore. I’m sorry, _____…”
He moved to make his way to your balcony doors again when you bolted out of bed, wrapping your arms around his middle to keep him in place. He halted, letting you sob into his back, his heart breaking at the sound.
“Please don’t do this, Tama!” you cried, fisting his shirt, “I don’t want to lose you. You’re the only good thing I have ever gotten in my life. You know what this life is like! Everything about it is controlled and revolving around a stupid image but...with you I don’t have to worry about anything. I’ve never felt more free with anyone than I feel with you...Tamaki...please…”
Your brokenhearted confession spurred him into turning around, cupping your cheeks to pull you into a loving kiss. It made your head swim, your eyes fluttering shut as you deepened the kiss, losing yourself in the feeling of his arms around you.
He held you so desperately, like you would slip away from him any second. Part of you knew that that was exactly what would happen. Once the sun rose, that would be it ― he wouldn’t get to hold you in his arms ever again.
You pushed that thought out of your head, instead choosing to slide his shirt up until he had to break away from the kiss to tug it off.
He picked you up by the waist, spinning to deposit you on the bed. He crawled on top of you, burying his face in your neck to press soft kisses there. You angled your head back to give him all the room he needed.
He wanted so badly to mark you up, to leave you with something of his, but he couldn’t. Squeezing your eyes tight, you fought back tears as you clung to him, nails digging into his shoulders.
He reached down, pushing the hem of your silk nightgown over your hips. Sucking in a breath, he felt his cock harden rapidly at the sight of your pretty panties.
“You’re so pretty,” he breathed, meeting your lips for another kiss.
You cupped the back of his head, pulling him even closer, arching your hips up to grind against him. He let out of stuttering breath, gripping your hip to urge you to grind rougher.
“Please, Tama,” you begged, breathing ragged at the teasing pleasure you were receiving.
“What do you need?” he breathed, a tone you knew only you got to hear.
To everyone else, he was a timid and shy young man who had trouble maintaining eye contact for too long. But with you, being closed doors, while you shared sweet kisses and heated touches, you got a side of Tamaki no one else would get to experience.
“I need you, please,” you begged, reaching forward to pull at his belt.
It was obvious he had come straight to your place after being somewhere — perhaps dinner with his parents.
He nodded, leaning back to clumsily strip himself of his pants. He stumbled a bit, making him mutter out embarrassed apologies with bright red cheeks. Soon enough, he was on you again.
With experienced fingers, he helped strip you from your own clothes. Your nightgown came off to reveal your bare breasts, a sight Tamaki couldn't help but whimper at.
Leaning down, he enveloped one of your perked nipples in his mouth. You tugged at his head, letting out soft sighs as he switched to the other one. Wet with his saliva, the cooler air caused them to harden even more.
Feeling impatient, you began to push your panties down your hips. Tamaki, sensing your urgency, helped pull them free of your ankles, tossing them to be lost somewhere in the darkened room.
He cupped your cheek, bringing you in for yet another kiss. His lips were so soft, his kiss pouring every ounce of love he felt for you. His free hand found its way between your legs, parting your folds to graze over your clit.
You gasped into his mouth, arching your hips at his teasing touch. He smiled against your lips, circling the bud until your thighs trembled before easily sliding two digits into your clenching hole. He paused, letting you adjust to the minute stretch before angling his fingertips up to hit your sweet spot. He had long since memorized your body ― every erogenous zone, every sweet spot, it was all committed to memory.
Your body was a temple just for him and he treated it with so much care.
You were sure you would never have anyone like Tamaki Amajiki again. The thought made your heart ache and you squeezed your eyes shut to keep from crying.
He pulled his fingers free, holding them up to his face to see the way they glistened with your slick. Popping them in his mouth, he whimpered at your taste, wishing he could get on his knees and eat you out for this last time.
But the way you reached between his legs to bring the tip of his cock to your entrance let him know how desperate you were for him. Not wanting to keep you waiting, he easily slipped in with your assistance.
He sunk in to the base, let out a sharp groan as your walls squeezed him. Neither of you were willing to wait long ― he set a quick pace that brought you both great pleasure. Sweat coated your bodies and caused you to stick together. Neither of you really care, however.
You reached down to grab his hand, bringing it up to your breast. He smiled, thumbing your nipple before descending down to envelop its twin between his lips.
His tongue swirled around the bud, relishing in the way it made your walls squeeze him.
“F-Feels so good!” you whined, clawing at his back, no doubt leaving behind red scratches.
“Yeah?” he breathed, making sure to angle his hips just right to hit that spot he had memorized.
Your reaction was instantaneous, a sharp cry so loud he had to reach up to cover your mouth with his hand.
“Can’t be too loud,” he warned, his cock throbbing at the teary, pleasure-filled gaze you fixed him with.
He could feel your moans vibrating beneath his hand as he continued his sweet pace. Your walls squeezed him tight and he groaned, dipping down to press his face to your neck.
“Gonna cum,” your words were muffled but he managed to catch them.
He nodded, sitting back on his heels. His grip on your mouth moved to your throat, the long digits wrapping around your neck just the way you liked. In an instant, his pace doubled and his other hand found purchase on your pelvic bone, thumb extending out to rub at your swollen clit.
The hard bud throbbed beneath his touch as he circled it in time to his thrusts. His hand tightened against your throat, feeling your moans vibrate against his palm as you reached your high.
Your back arched and your eyes rolled back before fluttering closed. The pinch in your brow and the way your mouth hung silently open sent him over the edge, your own euphoria being enough to make him cum.
You squeezed his cock tight, milking everything he had to fill you up.
Everything came to a slow halt, Tamaki slowed his grinding before allowing his softened length to slip free. His cum dripped from your still spasming entrance, making a mess of your bedsheets. Neither of you cared, however, as he laid beside you.
“I love you,” you whispered against his chest, eyes fluttering with sleep.
“...I love you too,” he replied, kissing the top of your head.
As you drifted to sleep, you missed the flood of tears that dripped down his still flushed cheeks.
The next morning, the birds chirping from your open balcony door woke you up. Immediately, images of last night came to mind. You sat up, holding your sheets to your chest as you looked around.
Your nightgown and panties Tamaki had stripped you of were folded atop your dresser and there was no sign of your boyfriend.
Or rather...ex-boyfriend.
The thought made your heart clench and you couldn’t stop the stinging in your eyes.
It was really over.
-
Your parents miracuously, and unfortunately, noticed the rapid change in your demeanor. They grilled you on the cause, although they already knew it was related to your feelings for Tamaki. Over the course of the month since he disappeared from your bed without another word, you’d grown more withdrawn and lonely. The everyday, boring rule-filled life you lived losing the tiny glimmer of happiness Tamaki once provided.
“Is this about Tamaki’s engagement?” your mother asked one evening, making everything around you come to a screeching halt. Your eyes fell to her at the other end of the table. She wasn’t looking at you, shaking her head as she cut the steak on her plate, “It’s silly to be upset over something like that. I would have expected you to be over him by now.”
“I love him…” you confessed tearfully.
Your father scoffed, “don’t be ridiculous. Love is pointless, you know that.”
“But I…” you were cut off by your mother’s sharp glare.
“You think your father and I love each other?” you fell silent at those words, “You’d be wise to let go of that stupid fantasy of marrying for love right now.”
“We’ll take care of that soon, don’t you worry,” your father threatened with a glare that let you know the conversation was over.
The man certainly lived up to his threat because the following week, you found yourself sitting at a table with Enji and Rei Todoroki. Shoto Todoroki sat stiffly to your right, fisting his dress pants with a cold look on his face.
“I’m glad you’ve finally seen reason,” Enji spoke in that ugly, superior tone that made your face morph to one of disgust. Glancing at Shoto, you saw his eyes narrowed at his father.
At least he seemed to hate him as well.
“Well, our daughter seems to need it,” your mother spoke in a sickly sweet tone, “She’s got this foolish idea of love in her silly head. So we decided your offer for marrying young Shoto couldn’t have happened at a better time!”
Enji nodded with his arms crossed over his puffed out chest, “Excellent. You won’t regret your decision. I’ll have the proper paperwork filed as soon as this weekend and we can begin the proper preperations.”
You heard Shoto sigh beside you as he stood up, placing a hand on your shoulder. You looked up to find a sorrowful look in his eyes that almost made you cry, “I’m sorry…”
With that soft sentiment whispered soft enough that no one could hear him, he held his hand out to you. You sighed and took it, allowing him to help you to your feet.
“_____ and I will take a walk,” Shoto announced, “I’d like to get to know her a bit more.”
“Excellent idea, dear,” Rei praised, though you couldn’t help but think the smile on her face was more than fake.
Shoto squeezed your hand, leading you out of the room. Once the two of you were safely away from the prying eyes of staff, hidden away in the garden, he released your hold.
“You fell in love with someone you weren’t supposed to, huh?” he mused, making you look up at him in shock. He chuckled softly, “Don’t worry, whatever you tell me is safe with me.”
“Yeah…” you whispered, frowning at the cobblestone ground, “I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to be with him until we were already together. My parents keep telling me it’s stupid to be in love…”
“I understand,” he sighed, starting a slow pace walking around with his hands clasped behind his back. When you looked up at him, he was gazing at the moon, the light making the glassiness of his eyes even more visible than you would have thought, “I did the same thing.”
“Really?” you couldn’t help but ask.
He nodded, chin wobbling slightly before he spoke, “Her name was Momo. We were together for almost 3 years before she was married off to some guy before I even knew it was happening. She told me that it was never going to work between us anyway so we shouldn’t have even bothered,” he sighed, “I was pretty heartbroken.”
“It seems you still are,” you mused softly.
He chuckled, looking over at you finally with a sad smile, “That’s the life we live, isn’t it? Sad and lonely...nothing is truly ours, not even our love.”
Those words resonated in your heart, making you bite your lip to fight back tears. He stopped, taking your hand in his similar to how Tamaki had that last night you were together.
“Regardless of whether we are married or not,” he breathed, “I will never expect you to love me but...I will make sure you at least enjoy my company. I won’t let us become like our parents. We can at least have that bit of happiness to ourselves, right?”
“Shoto…” you breathed, the tears you had been fighting back finally coming forth.
He cupped the back of your head, bringing you in for a sweet hug, “Who knows...maybe if we’re lucky we’ll be able to love each other in the end…”
Those words faded into the night, neither of you sure if such a thing would ever be possible. Both of your hearts already belonged to other people. It was a painful existence but you could have wound up arranged to be wed to a worse man.
Shoto wasn’t bad, you knew that. He managed to make you feel happy when you were together ― which became more frequent the closer your wedding date grew. Of course, he didn’t make you anywhere near as happy as Tamaki did.
You desperately missed the closeness you felt with him. How it felt to be wrapped up in the strong arms of a man who loved you. Almost every night, you found yourself sleeping on a wet pillow.
The night before your wedding, you found yourself sitting in your bedroom with a dual haired man standing in the middle of it. It felt so strange; he was going to be your husband in just 12 hours but you still had another man on your mind.
You remembered how it felt to have Tamaki sneaking into your room late at night too.
“What’re you doing here?” you asked softly.
“You’ve been crying,” he pointed out, making you wince.
“I’m sorry…” you apologized, unsure what for.
“Why are you saying sorry?” he chuckled softly, walking closer to you.
“I’m crying because I’m marrying you tomorrow, that can’t feel very good,” you sighed.
He shook his head, hands tucked in his pockets, “I get it. That’s why I came here.”
“What do you mean?” you asked, wiping a stray tear away.
“_____,” he sighed, “Is it really worth it? What do you get out of doing what they say? You’re an adult...there’s nothing they can do to stop you from leaving. You have a good education and I’m sure Tamaki does as well,” his words had you pausing, “You might not wind up with as much money as you have now but at least you’ll have the freedom to be a person. I lost my chance by letting my parents control my life and take Momo away from me. But you still have a chance.”
“Are you saying…?”
He smiled, placing his hand on top of your head, “Be with Tamaki. Even if it’s just for a few months or a few years, you’ll know what it’s like to live your own life. I can’t even imagine what they could feel like. Aren’t you tired of living like this? With all these rules...they tell us who we can be friends with, what to eat, how to sit at the damn dinner table...we’re barely even people. We’re just a means of obtaining power. Our parents marry us to the most powerful families they can in hopes of getting an heir worth a damn. It’s bullshit.”
“Shoto…” you whispered, a new sense of life flowing through you, “What if he’s not willing to leave it all?”
He shrugged, “Then at least you can say you tried and...in the morning if it didn’t work then you can marry me and we’ll adopt a damn dog or something.”
“I’m allergic to dogs,” you countered.
“A fucking cat then,” the uncharacteristic curse had you giggling into your hand.
“Thank you, Shoto,” he took a step back as you stood up, “I’ll see you around.”
“We’ll see,” he replied, watching as you wrapped a measly bathrobe around yourself, not a care in the world about getting properly dressed.
You were out of breath by the time you made it to Tamaki’s. Your car was parked down the street to avoid attracting any attention. Tamaki’s bedroom light was on and you eagerly climbed the lattice that decorated the side of the house.
Peeking into his room, you could see that he was sitting at his desk, writing something. He tensed when he heard his balcony door open, spinning in his chair to gape at you.
“_____?” he gasped, jumping to his feet to shut the door and close the curtain. He gripped your arms, hissing when he felt your temperature, “It’s freezing out what the hell are you doing wearing that?”
You beamed at his care for you, throwing your arms around his shoulders. Immediately, his hands found purchase on your hips to hold you against him.
“Run away with me, Tama,” you breathed.
He froze, pulling away from you with wide eyes, “Wh-What?”
“Run away with me,” you repeated, fisting his shirt, “What’s really keeping us here? We can make it on our own, we have good educations and can get good jobs. We can be together and be happy without outside voices whispering in our ears. We can be normal people, Tamaki.”
He was quiet, loosening his grip on you to take a few steps back. He ran his hand through his hair with a sigh. The happiness and confidence you had built up quickly crashed and you found yourself feeling foolish.
Why would he want to leave everything behind for you? He was in the same position as you; due to be married soon. Hanging your head, you let out a sigh.
“It’s alright,” you whispered, shrugging your shoulders, “I get it’s something really big to ask. You don’t have to take me up on it. I just thought...I would see.”
He still didn’t say anything and you turned on your heel to make way for the balcony, “I’m um...getting married tomorrow so...I just thought you should know that I love you so much, Tama. Being with you was the best thing I ever had...even when I’m married with Shoto, I’ll never stop thinking of you, okay? I wish you the best in your own marriage.”
You got out to the balcony, swinging one leg over the rail to climb down when two strong arms pulled you back. You gasped when you fell to the ground, your weight pressed against Tamaki as he buried his face in your neck. It didn’t take you long to realize he was crying. His tears wet your shoulder as he squeezed you tight.
“Don’t go,” he cried, “The idea of you being with another man...it’s too much.”
“Tama…” you whispered, holding onto him in return.
“Let’s do it,” he sniffled, pulling back to gaze into your eyes. He leaned forwards and pressed his lips to yours, “I’ll pack a bag. Have you got a bag?”
“No,” you replied sheepishly, “I wasn’t sure if you would say yes so I didn’t want to assume.”
He chuckled, untangling himself from you before moving back into his room, tossing all sorts of clothes and valuables into his suitcase. You laughed as he talked about selling stuff for money.
Before long, he was packed and ready to go.
Once you were sitting inside your car, the heat blasting as you warmed your cold skin, he reached over and took your hand in his. You looked at him, finding that familiar look of love in his eyes that never failed to make your heart soar.
As he squeezed your hand, you just knew that everything was going to be just fine.

“You got a new job again?”
You turn around your desk chair, taking one side of your earpiece off and noticing Taeyong sitting on your bed casually scrolling through his phone.
You didn’t even realise he came into the room. Probably because you had your music blasting at a high volume and you were concentrated on completing your holiday homework.
“Yeah. It’s at some art exhibit. Pay’s fair and I only have to sit there and do nothing for a week.” You simply reply with a light shrug.
“That’s so easy. When do you start?” Taeyong asks, lifting his eyes off his phone to look at you with curiosity.
You didn’t give an answer, looking down on your phone to search for the email that the person in charge sent you a few days back.
“It says the exhibit opens on friday so I guess that’s tomorrow.” You say shortly after glazing your eyes down the email.
Taeyong hums and nods his head. “Is it far from here? Need me to ride you there?”
You give a sincere smile and shake your head lightly. “You don’t have to. I can take the train. Plus you have work.” You politely reject your friend.
Taeyong frowns in response, making you sigh as you know he’ll insist on doing it.
“I’m working from home? I can do whatever as long as I complete my work. Just let me send you. You’re always refusing my help.” Taeyong glares at you and lets out an exasperated huff.
You purse your lips into a thin line, suspiring in defeat in a matter of seconds. You can never win when it comes to Taeyong being persistent. That’s how he always is whenever it comes to you.
“Okay, okay.” You breathe out.
“Anyways what are you doing in my room? I have homework to do.”
Taeyong flashes his cheeky smile and bobs his shoulders. “Was actually thinking of asking you to treat bubble tea?” His smile widens till his eyes form a line.
You scoff, furrowing your eyebrows. “You’re the one that’s working here!” You shout, letting out a ‘tsk’.
“Urgh fine! You’re cooking me instant noodles though.” Taeyong points his finger at you.
“Are my instant noodles that good?”
You earn a lighted up face as Taeyong nods his head eagerly. “Something about the way you cook it just tastes different from regular instant noodles!” Taeyong squeals like a kid while he let out a soft dreamy moan while closing his eyes.
“Jeez I’m craving for bubble tea now that you’ve mention it. Hurry up and order it on Grab!” You throw the pillow behind your back to Taeyong’s face, making him snap out of his thoughts on your instant noodles.
“My God, chill! Calm your women cravings.” Taeyong mumbles, turning on his phone and proceeding to head to the app to order the bubble tea.

It’s already the next day. Luckily for you, you wouldn’t have to be there till eleven in the morning since the exhibit opens at twelve.
You peacefully wake up at nine. Though you stayed in bed and used your phone till ten. Realising the time, you gather your strength to pull yourself out of bed, dragging yourself to the bathroom with half-opened eyes despite the fact that you’ve been awake for an hour.
You know you could take your time getting ready since Taeyong knows how to ride his bike. Fast. Like extremely fast. You estimated that you’d be able to reach in ten minutes, when normally it’ll take fifteen to twenty.
“Taeyong!” You scream out in the hallway as you make your way to his room. Opening the door, you see Taeyong on his desk typing away at his keyboard.
He shot his head at the noise, turning his head sharply to the door where you are. “We’re going now?” He asks, using his middle finger to push his glasses up the bridge of his nose, glancing down at the papers that are scattered on his desk.
You hum, looking down at the time on your phone. “We have five minutes till we can leave.” You inform him.
Taeyong nods his head and stands up, taking off his glasses and putting it on the desk. He slowly walks up to you, eyes scanning down your outfit. “They really let you wear this?” He asks with a skeptical eye.
You narrow your eyes in response. “How am I suppose to dress?” You question back sarcastically.
“I don’t know like fancy? High class? It’s a museum type of exhibit isn’t it?” He shoves his hands into the pockets of his black jeans. You roll your eyes. “It’s not like I’m going to be a tour guide. Whatever I’m still wearing this.”
You walk up to the full length mirror that’s beside Taeyong’s bed, looking down on your outfit. You decided to wear loose legged jeans along with a brown sweater vest, white button up and Vans shoes.
You smile to yourself in the mirror and turn around happily to Taeyong. “Let’s go.”
Taeyong takes out his extra helmet from the back, passing it to you. You wear it quickly while Taeyong gets on his bike, starting the engine as the noise from it can be heard loud and clear. After he takes a moment to adjust in his seat, he jerks his head to the back, signaling you to get on.
With that, you and Taeyong begin your journey of heading to the exhibit. As expected, you got there at around ten minutes. And you still had time befofe it opens. You got off and take off the helmet, passing it to Taeyong.
“Thanks for the ride.”
“I’m doing it for the instant noodles.” Taeyong says with a light chuckle, putting the helmet at the back. You swirled around to walk to the entrance. You glance over your shoulder to see Taeyong still leaning against his bike, waiting for you to head in. You shake your head and held a hand up to wave him goodbye before entering.
As you walk in, you hear Taeyong’s bike engine starting as he drives off. Looking around the exhibit, you were instantly amazed. It isn’t large, but isn’t small either. It is a completely white building with paintings and other things you would see in a museum cleanly displayed by their categories. It’s a simple yet classy set up.
You head to the counter to meet the person in charge who’s the only one in the exhibit.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Dejun.” You greet with politeness, bowing your head.
“Good afternoon. Since today’s the first day I don’t think there will be too many people coming in. Other than that, I’m sure you know what to do.” Mr. Dejun informs as he writes something on the black clipboard he has in his arm.
You hum. “Yeah, I do.” You reply confidently.
“Alright I’ll be heading off now. The key to locking up the exhibit is here. Make sure to return it to the main building, okay? I won’t be coming back by the way.” Mr. Dejun adjusts the glasses on his face.
You nod your head, watching him look around the counter one last time before greeting you goodbye and walking out of the exhibit. You sigh and take a seat on the chair that’s at the counter. You look down, seeing the key along with other papers that you assume is not relevant to you.
You got comfortable, placing your bag down on the counter and start to use your phone. Getting bored after awhile, you decide to walk around the exhibit for the fun of it.
You get to where the paintings were, clasping your hands behind your back after shoving your phone into your back pocket. You get in front of picture to picture, staring at it for a moment before looking to the bottom right to read its description and moving on.
You didn’t end up spending that much time walking around since you got through the arts fairyly quickly, not really caring about admiring it.
You get back to your seat, huffing and placing your chin on the palm of your hand as you lean in, closing your eyes.
You swear you could have fallen asleep but you got awoken by the sound of footsteps coming in. You shot your head up to the entrance, seeing a tall man wearing a brown velvet suit with a pink turtleneck. he had brown hair that’s slit back, though it looks a little messy.
You question how he looked at first. Brown and pink? You thought. That is until you concentrated on his face. You had to blink your eyes a few times to capture his face in your mind while he walks off to look around.
He had a jawline and features that can cut like a knife. The way every feature on his face looked amazing and straight out of a painting from someone’s imagination of a perfect man. His hair framed his face that was made for him to pull off any outfit choices or hairstyles.
You got intrigued in an instant without a doubt. You would want to look at him more but he ended up going deep into the exhibit and disappearing out of your sight.
You frown to yourself, the picture of him etched into your brain while you trace whatever you remember of him in your head. You eventually snap out of it, proceeding to look down on your phone.
You didn’t know how much time has passed since he came in. But it felt like a long time. And you still have yet to see him exit the exhibit.
Getting curious or concern, you weren’t exactly sure, you rose from your seat. Walking around, you tried finding for him. And eventually, you did.
You stand there in silence, a few steps away from him. He had his head tilted sideways as he stares blankly into this one particularly painting. It felt like he’s been looking at it for so long, seeing how his body didn’t bother moving an inch and it looked like he was in a trance.
You suck in your lips, looking up from his hair down to his high cut black Converse sneakers. He had such a perfect body proportion along with his height. Even his side profile felt breathtaking and you couldn’t even imagine how you’d feel if you were to get up close to someone with a physique like his.
You decided to turn back and leave, taking silent steps and making your way back to the counter. You want to leave him be for the time being. But then, your stomach began to growl, urging you to have your lunch. You turn on your phone and headed to the Grab app, wanting to order some Mcdonald and have it delivered here. Mr. Dejun didn’t say that you couldn’t eat here so might as well.
Thirty minutes passed. You had you food but you still have yet to see the man leave. Curious yet again, you grab your coke and head to where you saw him last time.
He’s still there, same painting, same standing position. At this point you were getting concerned. No one can stay frozen staring at something for that long right?
You take a sip of your coke, realising that the straw made those suction noises when your cup is empty. The sound caused the man to sharply turn his head to you.
You lean back, eyes blinking as it met his. “I’ll go soon, don’t worry.” He mutters. Finally, he starts walking down deeper into the hall and looking at other paintings.
You hum, nodding your head. You decide to walk as well, wanting some of your food to be digested.
You didn’t see him leave. He probably did while you looked at some flower painting.
Oddly enough, he’s the only one that came today.
And that was your first day at the exhibit. As you lock the door with the given keys, you couldn’t help but wonder why it’s called, What is love? Observing the arts in the exhibit from the main museum building, you didn’t see anything related to love except for one or two that had a direct meaning to it. The descriptions about them didn’t exactly help either.
You could only shrug off the thought once you hear the familiar sound if Taeyong’s bike driving down the street as he comes to pick you up.
Tumblr media
Day two comes by. you got there around the same timing with Taeyong’s help. Mr. Dejun is there again. He gives you the same instructions as yesterday, but this time you are told to make sure the peole who enter have registered in so they could keep track of who comes in and out. You were wondering why they didn’t have that system on your first day.
Quite a few people come by. Couples, families, perhaps journalists since you see them jotting something down in their notebooks while looking at the art.
What caught your eye is the fact that you see him come in again. He still looks as classy as yesterday with his slit back brown hair. But, you see someone else as well.
“This is where you wanted us to go?” You hear the women beside him say, linking her arm around his. You take a look at her up and down.
She’s absolutely stunning. From her dark brown wavy hair with curls at the bottom that reach till her chest area, the tight floral dress that cups her hourglass body perfectly, not to mention it’s proportioned beautifully just like his to the features of her face that looks just that of a model’s. You would have made an assumption that she is a model.
“Yeah, why? We can go somewhere else?” He mumbles as they take slow strides to the counter, approaching you. Needless to say, his voice is definitely amazing as well despite the few words he has said here.
The two ended up in front of you. The girl gives a simple smile. “Two tickets please.”
“You have to register with the QR code that’s there first.” You motion your hand to the sign on top of the counter that displays a huge QR code along with instructions to complete the registration.
“Ah I see. Hold on.” She jerks her arm against his, lifting her head up to the sign. He shapes his mouth into an ‘O’ as they proceed to use their phones to scan the code.
While they look down at their phones typing in their information, you thought that it’s a good time to have your eyes on him while you still can before he disappears into the exhibit.
You admire his face. You could tell his face looks breathtaking at every angle. You couldn’t see his face properly since the fringe of his hair covered his eyes a little while he’s looking down. But you liked it either way.
But you also start to wonder who that women is. His girlfriend? A close girl friend? You couldn’t exactly tell but you could make a guess that she’s more outspoken than him, seeing how he just nods his head and makes little effort to use his words when she talks to him.
“Alright, we’re done.” You shot your eyes up to them. You notice how he had his eyes on you with a blank expression. You shake your head, wanting to get yourself out of your deep admiration for the man i. front of you.
You hum, taking out the stickers that had the logo of the exhibit on it. Peeling two off, you hand it over to her. “Just stick it on your body anywhere.” You reply, attempting to sound polite.
“Also I need your names.”
Not.
You just want to know what the man’s name is.
“Nayeon.” The women brightly introduces herself. Your eyes adverted to him quickly.
“Jung Jaehyun.”
Fuck, you thought to yourself. Even his name suits him well. You practically couldn’t find a single flaw on this man appearance wise. You would want to talk to him, if Nayeon isn’t here with him today.
The two head off and the hours fly by as usual. To ease yourself out of boredom, you went to walk around the exhibit again, watching people admiring the arts and having small chitchats.
As you walk by the place where you saw Jaehyun standing yesterday, you realise the two are there. Standing in front of the same painting.
“This is boring. Let’s walk around more.” You hear Nayeon say loudly. You could’ve sworn you seen a look of anger or disappointment, or maybe both on Jaehyun’s face. But as quickly as it appeared, it disappeared quickly as well.
“Sure.” Jaehyun plainly says as he walks behind Nayeon. He glances back at the painting before having his eyes scan the area. His eyes meet yours for a brief second. You feel your body tense up so quick. You never felt something like this in a long time since you stopped dating when college started.
Absentmindedly, or maybe perhaps not, you ended up walking to wherever they went, following their footsteps and being quite a few meters away from them, they were in your sight almost all the tims.
One thing that stood out to you is the fact that Jaehyun looked somewhat gloomy or annoyed, even bored in fact. He didn’t look like this yesterday. And it’s obvious that the reason for that is Nayeon. You can’t understand why, not really diving too deep into it.
At some moment, Nayeon walks off with her phone to her ear, probably answering a call and exiting the exhibit.
“You don’t seem to be having fun.” You say, walking up to Jaehyun and standing beside him as you look at the painting in front of you.
He turns his head, looking down on you. He scoffs. “Is it that obvious?” Jaehyun asks, though the both of you seem to know the answer to that.
“Totally not.” You reply sarcastically, sliding your phone into your back pocket. “I saw you came by yesterday.” You start.
“I remembered you since you were the only one here.” Despite your eyes being on the painting, you couldn’t help but feel that his eyes start piercing into your skin. Looking up, you see him staring at you.
“Well to be fair it’s an exhibit that’s not popular yet.” Jaehyun lightly shrugs. “I actually thought I’d see my friend here. Guess not.” A small, almost unnoticeable frown creeps up his face.
“Friend? Who exactly?”
“Xiao Dejun. The one in charge of this place.”
You let out a soft “Ah...” while nodding your head. “He’s only here before my shift starts. And he never comes back either. I thought that’s something a friend should know.”
Jaehyun lets out a quiet sigh. “He’s too focused on this to let me know I guess.”
Just as he says that, you hear the clanking of Nayeon’s high heels coming in from the entrance. You know it’s her since she’s the only one wearing high heels here. “Looks like your boring date is back.” You joke with a small smile.
Jaehyun chuckles, brushing his thumb across his nose and shoving his hands into his pocket. “Sure is.”
“Hope thay you’ll be done with it soon.” You say, giving him a little encouragement to light up his mood. He didn’t reply to your statement and instead laughs softly, making you practically swoon for him in your mind when he lets out a, “Thanks.”
“Will I be seeing you tomorrow, Jaehyun?”
“Perhaps, uh your name?”
“_____”
With that, the two of you exchanged smiles once again as you walk off, seeing her hugging him from behind and dragging him off.
You couldn’t help but smile, him calling your name resonating in your head over and over as you head back to the counter.
Moments later the two left and you went along with completing the rest of the shift.
Tumblr media
“Jung Jaehyun?” Taeyong asks, taking a bite of his chicken. You completely forgot to eat lunch today so you texted Taeyong to meet you to have dinner at the nearby fast food restaurant.
You nod your head eagerly. “He’s so handsome and hot and just.. ah~” You close your eyes as you picture him in your mind, moaning dreamily as you thought about him.
“He sounds familiar not going to lie.” Taeyong shrugs, reaching his hand out to grab your mashed potatoes that were on your tray.
“Hey that’s mine!” You shout. Taeyong giggles cheekily. “You didn’t eat so I’ll assume you don’t want it.” He flashes his eye smile, making you look at him with disgust.
“Uh no I’m saving it for last. Why didn’t you get your own?”
“I forgot okay!” Taeyong huffs, angrily taking a scoop and putting it in his mouth. “I’ll share don’t worry.”
You roll your eyes. “So is he going to go there tomorrow?”
“He said probably.” You plainly shrug. “I mean I hope I do. I get to see him again.” You smile to yourself, looking down at your finished tray like an idiot.
“From what you tell me, it really feels like you’re just stalking him.” Taeyong adds with a scoff. You let out a ‘tsk’, grabbing a tissue to wipe and clean off your fingers.
“I don’t! Okay maybe. But seriously if you seen him, I’m pretty sure you would’ve turned gay for him.”
“Imagine how hot that’ll be. Seeing how you are handsome, and he’s handsome too. Ah the gayness!” You squeal, tapping your toes and as you grin widely.
“I’ll floor you at home. Watch me.” Taeyong threatens, throwing you a sharp glare. “You can drop by tomorrow to see him if you’d like. I can text you when he comes.” You bob your shoulder, a slight smirk creeping up your lips.
Taeyong hums and nods his head, grabbing his drink and taking one last sip to finish it. “Don’t disappoint me. If I don’t like what I see, I can say it as a fact that you have low standards.”
You gap your mouth open, placing a hand on your chest and gasping, overreacting at his statement. “Oh please. I’ll never.” You say with full confidence.
The next day at around three in the afternoon, Jaehyun enters the exhibit.
“Good afternoon, _____” Jaehyun greets in a polite yet trying to sound fun manner
“Afternoon, Jaehyun.” You flash a bright smile.
“Do I still need to register?” Jaehyun asks, leaning against the counter and closer to you. You blink your eyes rapidly, wanting to take a moment to look at his face up close but shake your head out of it immediately.
“Yeah. You need to do it every time you come.” You inform him, your phone flat on the table as you boredly scroll through Twitter.
“Alright.” He does the same procedure and proceeds to walk off, giving you a soft and kind smile before doing so.
You immediately went to iMessage, texting Taeyong that he’s here and keeping to your promise that you’ll let him see Jaehyun. Almost instantly, you hear the door open and reveal Taeyong casually walking in.
You widen your eyes in shock. “Wait the fuck?” You say as Taeyong walks up to the counter and leans his body againsy it. “So where is he?” Taeyong asks with full curiosity, peeking is head into the exhibit.
“Wait how did you even get here before I texted you?” Taeyong simply shrugs. “I didn’t go back home. I had lunch then I saw a dude who’s the only one that seem to go inside so I just assume that’s Jaehyun.”
“Wow...” You reply in awe, sounding surprised, buf also not.
Taeyong keeps his eyes at the exhibit, moving his head to see all it from all directions. “Where did he go?”
You pucker your lips in response. “Might have gon’ to that painting again. I don’t know why but every time he comes by, he just looks at this one painting. He can literally stand there and only leave hours later.”
Taeyong laughs, clapping his hands. “There’s no way, you idiot. He obviously moves around while you’re here.” Taeyong breathes out, patting his chest to calm his laughter.
“But I saw him!” You growled, reaching a hand out to punch Taeyong in the chest, making him wince. “Yeah, yeah sure.” Taeyong taunts. You roll your eyes.
Suddenly, you see Jaehyun coming out of the corner. You smack Taeyong’s arm constantly to get his attention and point your finger to the direction where Jaehyun has his back facing you.
“There!” You whisper. You really did look like a fan swooning over her idol.
“Oh my God wait. Yo, Jaehyun!” Taeyong suddenly shouts out. You widen your eyes at his sudden action. You weren’t sure whether that’s suppose to embarrass you or he actually knows Jaehyun.
Jaehyun turns his head around slowly. His eyes went to you first before Taeyong, a bright smile emerging his lips instantly. “Woah Yongie!” Jaehyun walks over. He nudges Taeyong’s shoulder with a balled fist, making him chuckle.
“Uh.. So you know him?” You ask, you finger going back and forth between Taeyong and Jaehyun. Taeyong chuckles, nodding his head. “Yeah back in college.” Taeyong says. “She’s on her last year.” He adds on, gently motioning his hand to you.
“We had a chat yesterday.” You couldn’t help but feel your cheeks getting hot ever so slightly. You hum. “I was hoping you’d come so that you can see Taeyong.”
What a huge lie.
Taeyong couldn’t but scoff, making you and Jaehyun look at him with raised brows. “Pft, oh really?” He asks, sounding pushy. You furrow your eyebrows, glaring at him intensively in hopes that he will not push it any further.
“So!” Taeyong starts after an awkward moment of silence. “Since Jae’s here, wanna eat something for lunch?”
Jaehyun looks up, thinking for awhile before tilting his head back down to Taeyong. Though, his eyes met yours for a split second that made your heart skip a beat. “Alright.”
“Order me take out then.” You say, disappointment filling your tone ever so slightly, which Taeyong instantly picked up.
“Aw I would have invited you if you didn’t have work, right Jae?” Taeyong had a wide smirk on his face for a second before turning to Jaehyun. He lets out a simple chuckle. “True.”
You frown, raising a hand up to wave it at them lazily as a sign to push them away. “Okay, okay. Just go and come back quick. I want food.”
With that, you ended your third day. You ended up spending more time with Jaehyun than you’d expect, which makes you happy every time you thought about him.
Tumblr media
The next day, oddly enough, Jaehyun didn’t come by. You didn’t see him coming in around the time he would be entering. And he never did. You waited for him impatiently, waiting eagerly for that one time you get to see him for a brief moment before he goes in to look at the painting yet again.
It felt almost weird to you. Despite you meeting him for only three days, you felt somewhat accustomed to be seeing him for the rest of the week. And him not coming in today felt out of place. It shocked you how attached to him you got. But to be honest, who wouldn’t?
You start wondering why he didn’t come. But the reality dawned on you pretty quick. He had his own live of course. He obviously has other things to do. Work? Family and friends? You thought that he couldn’t possibly be coming in everyday.
Tumblr media
“I see you came back with her.” You whisper to Jaehyun, leaning in slightly. He heaves a sigh, rubbing his temples. “It’s... complicated. She’s probably talking to her father.” Jaehyun jerks his head to the seating area outside the exhibit, where you see Nayeon on the phone.
“Sorry if I’m intruding or anything...” You start off. Jaehyun raises both his eyebrows and humming. “But why do you keep coming here? I mean other than yesterday, it just seems like you come here just to look at that one painting in the corner of the exhibit.”
Jaehyun puckers his lips, shrugging after. “That’s complicated to answer too. Well, not really but-”
“It’s fine. You don’t have to answer.”
Just then, Nayeon comes back, running over to Jaehyun and holding his hand, interlocking their fingers. It really made you wonder whether Nayeon is actually Jaehyun’s girlfriend that he loves or is dating her for another reason.
Once again Jaehyun immediately looks bored. Before they walk in the exhibit, he looks over his shoulder to look at you. You mouth a, “Good luck.” With a light laugh, making him nod his head and turning back to the front.
With that, your bore through the hours of your shirt. For such a simple job, you were surprised at how much you were being paid. But that was all you care about anyways. The money. It served you as motivation to just push through the boring hours.
It’s near closing time now. You stood up to walk around the exhibit to make sure there’s no one left. As you head back to the counter to grab your things, you stop in your tracks when you see Jaehyun and Nayeon standing outside at the seating area. “Are they fighting or something?” You mutter to yourself as you watch Nayeon screaming at Jaehyun while he avoids her eyes with folded arms.
You raised a skeptical brow, not knowing what they’re fighting about and continued ahead to pack your things and turning off all the nights. You take one last look around the exhibit before grabbing the keys in your hand.
Just when you were about to head out, you now see Jaehyun sitting on the bench with his back facing you, his head leaning against the glass. You gulp and open the door, making him shot his head towards you.
“What happened? I saw you and Nayeon fighting.” You say, turning around and using the keys to lock up the exhibit. Jaehyun stands up, running a hand through his hair.
“We broke up.” Jaehyun says in a somewhat sarcastic manner.
“Um well I guess you need time alone?” You raised your shoulders, taking in a deep breath.
Jaehyun walks closer to you, and with each step your heart began to race quicker. You bit your bottom lip in nervousness, despite him not standing that close. “Not exactly.” He replies shortly.
You furrow your eyebrows, tilting your head in confusion. “Then what? I’m not exactly the type who’s good at comforting people.” You say, shifting your weight from one leg to the other. “Unless it’s food. I can treat you to food.”
Jaehyun nods his head, glancing sideways before looking down at you. “Okay. Then invite me to dinner.” He reauests nonchalantly, shoving his hands into his pocket as he copies your body language.
After blinking your eyes a few times, you say, “W-What like now? Do you want to eat dinner now?”
Jaehyun simply nods. It’s surprising how casual he is towards you, but you really liked it so you didn’t mind. “It’ll be nice if we could drink as well. I need to get Nayeon off my mind for tonight.”
You puff your cheeks and blew the air out. “I know a place.”
Tumblr media
It all feels crazy to you right now. You’ve only met Jaehyun in less than a week but here you are, having dinner with him. You could guess that he’s being awfully casual since he knows that you and Taeyong are friends. But it also surprised you as to how the silence between the two of you is comfortable.
The two of you eat in silence, munching on your food with your heads down and glancing at each other a few times while you look up to take a shot of soju.
You eventually start talking. Specifically about his college life and how he met Taeyong. You felt that it’s the only way to connect with him since he did graduate from the same college as the one you’re attending.
“What’s your major?” Jaehyun asks as he reaches his hand out to pour me a shot. I downed it quickly, exhaling calmly. “Psychology. Have pills of homework I need to get done.”
You click your tongue, twirling the fork in your hand as you feel the alcohol kicking in already. To be fair, you are one to get drunk easily. Jaehyun doesn’t know that, and you’ve subconsciously been drinking more than your usual intake as your chat with Jaehyun goes on.
“Really? Why didn’t you say? I took psychology too.” You raise both eyebrows in response, closing your eyes for a moment. “Perhaps you can help me.”
Jaehyun leans in, his chin resting on his fingers that were interlocked. “Should we go somewhere?” You tilt your head, placing a hand behind your neck and rubbing it gently. “Where exactly?” You question him.
“Your home. Where else? Taeyong must be worried that you’re drunk on a work night.” You scoff in amusement, your mouth still open after you did. “And? It’s just a part time job.” You giggle, covering your face with the palm of your hand. Clearly, you already weren’t in your right mind.
Tumblr media
You didn’t know how, but you blanked out. And somehow arrived at the rooftop of a run down apartment. But after looking around, you facepalm yourself in your mind, realising it’s your apartment’s rooftop that you’re at.
You had your head laid on Jaehyun’s shoulder. Turning your head slightly, it made Jaehyun look down on you. “Awake already?” He whispers, leaning in and making his face inches away from yours. To which you couldn’t help but blush in a matter of seconds.
“What time is it?” You scrambled around to find your bag to take out your phone but before you could turn of your phone, Jaehyun replies, “Two in the morning.” with a casual tone.
“Are you the type to wake up late?” He asks once again. You took this time, in your “drunken” state to snuggle your head into the crook of Jaehyun’s neck, finding a comfortable spot and breathing in his scent. A scent you could indulge yourself with all the time if you could.
You hum. “Yeah. Not gonna lie, I’ll probably be late tomorrow.” Your lips brushed against Jaehyun’s skin as you reply.
Jaehyun clears his throat, letting out a sigh. “Do you want to know why I always go to the same painting at the exhibit?” You bit your lower lip. Finally, the question you have asked yourself throughout the days when Jaehyun comes by.
“That one painting. It’s actually my grandmother’s. She painted it before she passed away. I found out about the exhibit Xiaojun was gonna open, and asked him to display for painting.”
As Jaehyun talks, you take in the atmosphere. The cold breeze against your skin. The night sky reflecting its moonlight onto the city’s streets and building. How peaceful it all felt, with the person you’ve been wanting this whole week the moment you saw him. You know how you got close to him, but it also felt as though you didn’t. Like a atring attached to the two of you, getting shorter and shorter till you reach this moment. A moment where you are so close that it feels like it’s too close.
“Her painting showed her own way of depicting love. I saw the other arts in the exhibit, it all had one general idea. Love. Different artists, different perspectives of love. Some showed it to be seen as butterflies and rainbows. While others depict it as something to stay away from, something you should be afraid of. Romantic love, that is.”
You hum, nodding your head. “I never expected you to be someone this deep.” You mumble. Jaehyun replies with a chuckle. A chuckle you have now grown used to. “I do art, other than psychology. But I stopped when I had to make more time for my major.”
“Continue.” You whisper. He takes a second to tilt his head up and taking in a deep breath before resuming.
“My grandmother’s painting showed both the good and bad sides of love. I knew her love life wasn’t a regular one. But I somehow was able to understand it after hours of just staring at her painting and its very brief description about it.”
You smile to yourself. You really could hear him talk for hours on end and never get tired of it.
“Want to know something?”
You absentmindedly wrap your arms around his torso, moving in close to get even more comfortable. It felt right just doing it. Surprisingly enough, Jaehyun wraps an arm around your shoulders, squeezing you close. Not too tight, not too loose. His touch sent constant electric shocks throughout your body. But it felt right. Just this moment alone, like time has frozen for you to admire it while it lasts.
“I hoped everyday you’d come to the exhibit. Just to see your face.” You say, closing your eyes as you feel his heartbeat on his chest, putting you at ease. You weren’t sure if Jaehyun’s drunk, if he’d remember anything you say. You did think of the embarrassment you’d have to face the next day, but you just didn’t bother.
“I caught your eye that fast?” Jaehyun asks.
You nod your head immediately. “You should know that yourself.”
The two of your laugh softly at the same time. This feeling, this moment. Is it the alcohol that’s doing all this? Is Jaehyun really like this or is it only when he’s drunk? Is he actually taking whatever you’re saying and can remember it the first thing in the morning?
You know you could’nt. Which is why you try to take in this night as much as possible so that it would be in your memory forever, dream or not.
“Let’s go to the exhibit together tomorrow. I’ll come by your house to pick you up.”
Silence ensues, this time it’s much longer. But as mentioned before, you felt comfortable, as though this is how it should have always been.
A sudden connection you feel with a mere stranger. Within days, you've formed an unfamiliar yet familiar bond with him, despite the minimal interactions. The world somehow made the two of you end up in such a cliche situation.
“Would love that.”

‘‘Okay everyone, let’s switch to the upward facing dog!’’
You really don’t want to be here. There’s a lot of stuff running through your head right now that are more important than focusing on yoga positions. You wish you were thinking about grocery shopping or paying that month’s bills.
Instead, you’re still stuck on the downward facing dog as your mind tells you you’re an idiot, a homewrecker and most importantly, a terrible friend.
‘‘Y/N, upward facing dog!’’ The instructor, Namjoon, reminds you with a gentle smile as he notices you haven’t switched positions like the rest of the class. You nod and smoothly place your body as he had taught in the classes before.
The only reason why you came to your Saturday morning yoga class was because even with all that happened last night, you wanted to feel a sense of normality. Like you’re capable of going on about your life like nothing had happened.
That’s selfish and stupid because as much as you tried, every single moment since you woke up revolved around last night.
From the moment you opened your eyes, noticing Sunhi wasn’t sleeping next to you, snuggled into your chest like you had last remembered her to be before she fell asleep and you following soon after.
And as your heart beat faster at the thought of finding her in her dad’s arms instead, watching Saturday morning cartoons on the T.V in your living room; you instead found the place neat and tidy. The messy pillows on your couch where placed like they hadn’t even been moved to begin with, like no one besides you had been in the apartment the night before.
Somehow he managed to do all of this without you even noticing. You wondered at what time he woke up, cleaned up, took Sunhi without making any fuss and left, all before your 7 AM alarm could wake you up.
He even made you breakfast too. Some eggs, bacon and toast.
‘‘Y/N, your legs are touching the mat.’’ Namjoon notes as he stands in front of you, ‘‘Let’s focus, okay?’’
You nod once again, though this time a little more embarrassed. If only you could explain to your instructor why you’re so distracted.
No messages either. No text explaining why he had to leave so early. No sticky note placed on your fridge door about how he made you breakfast. No slight shake to your sleeping body to let you know that he’d be taking Sunhi. Nothing.
Would’ve you liked that, though?
You could say yes because he’s your friend and it’s only fair since you took care of his daughter the night before.
But it’s not right, because friends don’t kiss each other, let alone the way you had let him kiss you and touch you while his daughter slept in your room and his wife waited for both of them at home.
There was a war going on inside you between your brain and your heart.
Your heart, being a weak ass bitch, was telling you about how exciting everything was. How nice it felt to have Jungkook tell you that he wanted to be with you, that he no longer felt happy with his wife, how perfectly his lips encaptured your own and how you could still feel them on you.
But your brain, obviously being the logical one between the two, reminded you about how wrong it was. You had never wanted to be placed in a position of being ‘‘the other woman’’. That even though you might not like Jiwoo and had spent years hoping your friend would someday wake up and realize this too, this didn’t feel right.
‘‘Alright, let’s drink some water now.’’ Namjoon announces, clasping his hands together and showing off that dimple that most ─if not all─ of the students went heart eyes over.
You take the time to check your phone instead, you don’t need the water because you didn’t do shit anyway. There’s no text from Minji, who you’re scared will somehow, by the grace of everything that’s holy, find out about what you did. No text from Jungkook either and you’re wondering why he hasn’t bothered to send one.
Instead, there’s a text from Taehyung and you mutter a curse.
[8:34 AM] Taehyung: hey y/n! i’m sure you’re in your yoga class rn but i wanted to see if maybe you’d be up for lunch at my place? i’ll try and cook something nice :)
Ah, of course that throughout all of this you forgot about Taehyung.
The sweet guy who had stuck around only for you to pay him back by kissing your best friend, the one Taehyung had to pretend wasn’t bothered by his interruption that night a few weeks ago.
God, you do have a way to fuck things up for yourself.
You don’t know how long you stood there thinking what to reply to him, but it definitely was for a few minutes because you only came back to reality once you heard your name being called once by the instructor.
‘‘Y/N,’’ Namjoon repeats and you look over at him with a puzzled look, ‘‘we’re starting again, if you’d like to join us.’’ There’s that smile again. Bless his patience, you wonder if he’s actually this calm because of yoga or he’s just really good at pretending.
You look back down at your phone, the screen displaying a text that’s still waiting to be replied to.
‘‘I uhm─I gotta go, sorry.’’ You quickly reply, making Namjoon look at you with wide eyes, but he makes no effort to stop you either.
And as quickly as you can, you collect your belongings before you’re heading out the door without saying goodbye.
Either you quit yoga altogether or just apologize to Namjoon like a grownup next Saturday. Whatever it is, you’re not thinking about what decision to make about your little extracurricular right now.
There’s only so much you can handle at a time.
Tumblr media
Jungkook is lucky that Jiwoo works Saturday mornings because with her away, he’s able to enter his house without having to sneak in.
He opens the door wide, making way for him and a slightly awake Sunhi in his arms. He drops the keys on the counter without caring about the noise it makes. He doesn’t even have to pretend like he’s walking on glass, his boots are allowed to hit the wooden floor without a care in the world.
The place doesn’t look much different from what he had left it like the day before. There’s only a dirty glass on the sink, a product of Jiwoo’s daily breakfast smoothies and since she’s always in a rush she never has time to clean it up.
‘‘Are you still sleepy, pumpkin?’’ he quietly asks his daughter and she nods, he doesn’t blame her since he’s the one who woke her up at 6 AM. ‘‘Alright, I’ll take you to your bed,” he says, a kiss on her head following shortly after.
He wonders if Jiwoo enjoyed herself last night. No daughter and no husband, sounds like an ideal night for her. It’s not like she was worried about their whereabouts either, considering she hadn’t even bothered to text him wondering why they hadn’t come home.
If Jungkook’s supposed to feel guilty, he isn’t.
He’s heard stories before about how there’s a voice in your head constantly reminding you about what you did and how wrong it is. That he’ll be unable to sleep knowing he cheated on his wife while she lies next to him. That he won’t be able to look at her again without feeling remorse all over him.
And when Jiwoo returns home at noon, there’s none of that at all. He offers her a nod of acknowledgement once she enters the living room to find him sitting with his laptop, watching through old videos that he took years back.
She puts her index finger up, telling him to give her a minute. She’s on a phone call with a friend of hers that Jungkook can only conclude is Hyeri, who he probably met at some point but can’t remember what her face looked like.
‘‘I know! Like, why do you have to be such a bitch about it? We get that you’re sucking the boss’s dick in private, so you might as well─’’
Jiwoo’s voice is too distracting and so, Jungkook places his earphones in to hear what this video’s audio is about. Once he does, he hits play and the audio is loud enough to drown out Jiwoo’s whining.
‘‘Guess who came to see you, Pumpkin?’’
Jungkook gasps as he remembers this was part of a series of videos he was supposed to show Sunhi once she was old enough to understand them. He recorded a few until he was drowning in work to even grab his camera again. It saddens him that he wasn’t able to continue.
He decides he’ll show them to her later because right now Sunhi is too busy playing with her dolls inside her room to even pay attention to him.
‘‘It’s auntie Y/N! And she came bearing gifts,’’ Jungkook smiles, switching the focus on you ‘‘is that a Fisher Price Taco Tuesday toy set that I see?’’ he wonders in a fake curious tone as you look at him with narrowed eyes ‘‘I wonder how she knew you wanted that, Sunhi. It’s not like your dad had it on his Amazon wishlist or anything.’’
‘‘Very funny.’’ You mumble, handing him the toys so you could go ahead and grab a tiny three-month-old Sunhi from the bed ‘‘Aren’t you the cutest little bean in this entire world? Aren’t you?’’ you coo at the little girl, who looks at you with wide eyes and you’re forced to blink a couple of times because she looks just like him.
‘‘Of course she is, she’s my spitting image!’’ Jungkook confirms your thought as he grabs Sunhi’s cheek gently with his fingers and squeezes, making the baby giggle.
You side-eye him and then focus your attention back on the baby in your hands, ‘‘No, you’re not, Sunhi. Your daddy is not cute at all.’’
‘‘You’re gonna make me put this camera down and have a discussion about this.’’
Jungkook chuckles at the footage, noticing how he made you smile because of his comment. The video isn’t long, it’s mostly you cooing to a then tiny Sunhi, giggling at the way you would nuzzle your nose into her belly as Jungkook laughed behind the camera.
‘‘Jungkook, look at her!’’ You practically squeal as Sunhi grabs your thumb with her little hand ‘‘Oh my gosh, I think I’m gonna cry.’’
He laughs as he does a close-up of his daughter holding on to your finger, until he hears the little sniffle you let out and the camera is now focused on you silently wiping a tear away.
‘‘Wait, you’re actually crying?’’ Jungkook asks in disbelief and you turn to look at him to find the lens focused on you ‘‘Sunhi, you’re Auntie Y/N loves you so much that she’s crying! How cute.’’
‘‘You’re so dumb, seriously.’’ you mumble with a frown, going back to gawking at the baby still holding on to your thumb.
Jungkook sighs, ‘‘I’m gonna have to bleep that out, y’know?’’
You laugh and shrug your shoulders, caressing Sunhi’s stomach. Jungkook whispers ‘cute’, so soft that you’re unable to hear it.
Once it ends, Jungkook is able to see his smiling face as it reflects on the black screen and it’s only then he realized he’d been grinning the whole time. Now his ears are filled with Jiwoo talking over the phone and his smile goes back to a straight line.
Jungkook closes the video and clicks on the next one, hoping that it’s one that involves you as well. He’s unable to press play because Jiwoo is suddenly standing in front of him, arms crossed and she’s no longer talking on her phone.
‘‘Yes?’’ He asks, removing an earbud to show her she has his full attention.
‘‘So, where were you last night?’’
Jungkook’s slightly surprised that she cares. He tends to forget there’s still some humanity left in her after all, ‘‘At Y/N’s.’’ he answers with a shrug, eyes going back to stare at the screen of his laptop.
Jiwoo scoffs and he’s forced to look at her again, eyebrow slightly raised. He hopes she doesn’t start because it’s too early and it’s a Saturday. But Jiwoo doesn’t like taking breaks like he does.
‘‘I thought you said that she wasn’t going to be able to take care of Sunhi on Fridays.’’ There’s bitterness in her tone, ‘‘so, what were you doing there?’’
Jungkook understands where Jiwoo’s curiosity comes from, but it’s strange. She’s never been the type to ask where he’s been, what he’s doing with Sunhi while she’s not around ─which is practically all the time─ and doesn’t care for your business either.
‘‘I just stopped by.’’ Jungkook mutters, stroking the nape of his neck in an attempt to not seem suspicious, ‘‘We hung out and Sunhi fell asleep, she didn’t wanna come back home.’’
And that’s true, Jiwoo narrows her eyes at him as if she’s debating whether or not to believe him and the excuse of their sleeping daughter. She doesn’t know Sunhi that well to conclude if it’s possible or not.
‘‘And what, did you all three sleep together in the same bed? Playing family, maybe?’’
Jungkook looks at her in disbelief. This is a first.
‘‘What?’’ Is all he’s able to muster because he’s genuinely shocked at her accusation.
Jiwoo rolls her eyes, ‘‘Oh, please. Like I’m going to buy that hanging out bullshit.’’ Jungkook looks like a deer stuck in headlights and she chuckles, ‘‘Is what I give to you not enough?’’
‘‘I─what are you on about?’’
He figures this is her picking a fight because he wasn’t around yesterday to attend her needs like he usually does every Friday night. But Jungkook’s mind is quick to remind him of what he did and it’d be really ironic if he denies Jiwoo’s accusations, that for the first time are actually true.
‘‘I carried around that girl for nine months, ruined my body because of her, all for you to pick someone else over me?’’ Jiwoo’s voice is raised a little higher and Jungkook can’t help but look over at Sunhi’s bedroom door and hope his daughter is not listening to anything coming from the living room. ‘‘I knew I should’ve never trusted her, I always knew your friendship with her was fucking weird.’’
Jungkook doesn’t want to raise his voice either. It’s not going to get them anywhere. But he can’t stand the way she’s speaking about his daughter and you, she’s never crossed those boundaries before.
‘‘Are you insane? How can you talk about your daughter like she’s nothing?’’ Jungkook spats out, ‘‘I’ve always been thankful for what you did, I know the shit you went through to bring her into this world.’’
But Jiwoo doesn’t care about how loud she’s being, ‘‘You’re so thankful you pay me back by fucking your best friend? While I’m alone over here waiting for you to come back?’’
Jungkook has to take a deep breath and close his eyes for a second, before he loses it.
He clears his throat, ‘‘Jiwoo, I have always chosen you. Always. I did back when I was a sophomore, I did it when I asked you to marry me, and I did it when I chose you to be the mother of my children. So, I don’t know what─’’
‘‘I don’t give a flying fuck if you chose me! I was supposed to be all of that either way, Jungkook.’’ She interjects.
Was she, though? Of course, she was his girlfriend then. It would make sense that she’d be the one to end up marrying him, having his kids and living the happy life everyone guaranteed he’d live alongside her.
But he hasn’t been thinking about the choices he ended up taking back then. Instead, he’s been wondering about the ‘what if’s and Jiwoo isn’t in any of them.
Jungkook’s been daydreaming for months now about how different his life would’ve turned out if he had never asked the pretty girl in his class all those years back and instead had focused his attention somewhere else. Or someone else..
‘‘Are you going to answer me?’’ Jiwoo’s stern voice brings him back to the reality he hates, ‘‘Were you going to pick me or was I a second choice?’’ She slowly asks, giving him an opportunity to digest every single word she spoke.
‘‘You weren’t a second choice,’’ he mumbles and his gaze has faltered and instead focused back on the screen of his laptop. Clicking on a video randomly, trying to distract himself from the situation at hand. Hoping that whatever he says is enough for Jiwoo to leave him alone.
It doesn’t help that the video automatically plays and it’s you on the first frame, a big smile as you hold Sunhi towards the camera, making her wiggle in your arms.
What if.
‘‘Show me that you love me, then.’’
The video still plays as Jungkook looks back at Jiwoo standing right in front of him, her arms are still crossed, but the look on her face is different. Her brows are no longer furrowed and Jungkook might be wrong, but he thinks her eyes look glossy.
He doesn’t act quickly enough and she takes the laptop from him, closing it before she can even notice what is it that has garnered his attention. Jiwoo straddles his lap and he jumps slightly at the action, placing her arms around his neck as she looks at him with innocent eyes.
If he didn’t know her, he would’ve believed them.
‘‘Jiwoo, let’s not─’’
‘‘I missed you yesterday,’’ she interjects in a whisper ‘‘show me that you love me right now.’’
Her lips latch onto his neck, biting and sucking on the skin as he tries to wriggle himself out of her hold, but her hands push at his chest so he can stay still.
‘‘C’mon,’’ she mumbles ‘‘show me.’’ She’s pleading by then.
He feels nothing. There’s no electricity in Jiwoo’s kisses. No tingles on his back, no goosebumps on his skin, no fireworks going off. If anything, everytime her lips meet his skin it feels bitter, like they don’t belong there at all.
‘‘Daddy, come please!’’ The muffled voice of Sunhi inside her room interrupts the one-sided moment and Jungkook is silently thanking her.
Jiwoo doesn’t make an effort to move as she keeps kissing on all the exposed skin he has to offer. Jungkook sighs in frustration as he forces her off him, making her land beside him with an astonished expression.
Her hands tighten into fists as she looks at him like he’s gone insane, ‘‘What the fuck is wrong with you?’’ She asks in disbelief.
Jungkook blinks, ‘‘Did you─?’’ He gestures with his finger over to his daughter’s room, ‘‘Sunhi is calling me.’’
His wife scoffs, crossing her arms over her chest again, ‘‘Of course, you always go running when it comes to her.’’
Contrary to his belief, there is no humanity left in Jiwoo at all. She’s just really good at pretending like she cares so she can get her way. This is the last time Jungkook falls for this trick.
Jungkook opens his mouth, but nothing comes out. He repeats this action a few times, to stammer something out. Anything. But there’s nothing besides the expecting silence of his wife as she chuckles incredulously. Jungkook ignores this and turns around, a second away from opening Sunhi’s bedroom door─
‘‘You’re a waste of a husband.’’ Jiwoo sneered.
His hand drops from the door handle and he sighs, taking a deep breath in and out.
He looks back at her, ‘‘You know what, Jiwoo? I wasn’t lying when I said you weren’t my second choice.’’ he informs and her eyebrow raises up ‘‘But you aren’t my first choice now either.’’
Jiwoo scowls and heaves in anger, ready to let hell loose on him ‘‘I knew that who─’’
‘‘It’s Sunhi,’’ he states and Jiwoo closes her mouth before she can even finish her sentence. ‘‘Ever since I knew you were pregnant with her, she’s been at the top of my list and she’ll always be there. I don’t care what you do or say to me, I really don’t. You don’t love me, Jiwoo.’’
At the accusation, her eyes soften and she’s standing up to argue that it’s not true, but Jungkook raises his hand in a motion to stop her.
‘‘You don’t love me and I don’t love you.’’
Jungkook expected her to start yelling at him like she usually did, but Jiwoo’s rendered speechless on her spot as she stares at him, blinking rapidly.
‘‘I don’t love you,’’ he repeats ‘‘and I haven’t loved you for a while now. I don’t remember the last time my heart raced up when I saw you or when I stopped enjoying kissing you. And I’m sorry, because I should’ve told you instead of pretending like I did.’’
Jiwoo’s motionless as she takes all of his words in.
‘‘But I did it for her because I didn’t want her to hate me if you ever left. But that was a dumb idea because you don’t care about Sunhi. And frankly, I doubt she cares about you either. She never speaks about you, never asks about you, she’s used to you not being here even if you sort of are.’’
Jungkook places his hand over the doorknob once again and Jiwoo grimaces.
‘‘I should’ve never begged you to come back. I should’ve thought about what you wanted and it’s always been clear to me what that is,’’ Jungkook swallows the knot he feels in his throat ‘‘and it’s never been Sunhi or me.’’
‘‘Jungkook.’’
He thinks she’s about to tell him how sorry she is. That she’ll recognize how heartless she’s been and how she not only failed him, but failed their daughter too. Maybe beg for a final try at their relationship as she promises she’ll change this time.
Jungkook hums and spares her one last glance.
Jiwoo has a stoic expression on her face and she speaks under her breath, but clear enough for him to hear, ‘‘Sign the papers when you get them.’’
Tumblr media
You expect Minji to just jump at you any minute now because if looks could kill, you’d be dead already. Maybe you should’ve pretended like you weren’t home and let Minji knock on your door until she’d give up, but even you knew better than that.
It was better to face her now than to deal with her accumulated wrath later.
‘‘When were you going to tell me?’’ She suddenly asks and it takes you by surprise because it had been way too silent since you had let her in.
Minji works like a predator, she attacks when you least expect it and right now you definitely feel like you’re about to be eaten.
‘‘I─uh…’’
She sighs and you can see the disappointment in her face, ‘‘Were you going to tell me at all?’’
You nod instead, not trusting yourself enough to speak at the moment.
It had been a week since the event in your living room and it makes you shift uncomfortably in your chair as you stare at your friend, who’s sitting on the couch where everything went down.
‘‘Then why did I have to find out through Taehyung?’’ She asks in a disappointed tone.
You figured he’d tell her. It’s not like you asked him not to do so, but you had silently prayed that the universe was on your side on this one and by some unknown reason they wouldn’t bump into each other at work and Minji, like she usually did, wouldn’t ask him about you. Because if she did, then he’d have to explain how you had broken the news that you had made out with your best friend; the one Minji despised with her soul.
A sigh escapes your lips as you lower your head with shame.
You were supposed to tell her, but every time you took your phone and tried to dial or text her, your nerves got the best of you and ended up chickening out, promising that you’d do it the next day. Then the next day. And the next day.
It’s not like you’re scared of Minji─well, maybe only slightly. But you know the effort she put into getting you to go out and meet someone new, someone that’s not married and not a father. She’s known Taehyung for so long, probably even told him how much of a good girl you were to convince him to take you out, only for you to end up throwing all of that in the trash like it was nothing.
Minji’s also spent years pushing you to move on from your friendship with Jungkook. Not just because she doesn’t like him, but because she’s always felt like he’s held you back while he’s made his way in life. You’ve stuck behind him making sure that he’s okay and happy, forgetting about yourself in the process.
‘‘I’m not angry at you,’’ she speaks softly, making you look up at her with surprise. ‘‘I just─He gave you a second chance, Y/N. Why did you say no?’’ Her words are laced with curiosity and you know that she’s asking because even Taehyung wasn’t able to give her an answer to this question.
Your bottom lip trembles and you’re trying your hardest not to burst into tears in front of him. You can’t and you won’t. How even dare you to do that?
‘‘I’m sorry,’’ you whisper and your eyes shift down to the wooden floor of his apartment. ‘‘I’m sorry, Taehyung.’’ You repeat, knowing it’s not enough.
Taehyung gulps and his crossed arms quickly fall to his sides as he realizes that, whatever anger he felt when you told him about what you did, was no longer there the moment he saw how genuinely apologetic you looked.
‘‘I’m an idiot, I know.’’ You continue, rubbing your clammy hands into the material of your leggings and it does nothing to dry them. ‘‘I’m sorry, Taehyung.’’
He knows he shouldn't be so easily swayed by your apology, but he can’t help but want to cradle you in his arms. And when he does, your eyebrows raise in surprise as you gasp because you weren’t expecting this.
You expected anger, insults thrown out about how you’re a slut and being kicked out of his apartment with him telling you to never contact him again.
Taehyung’s still sweet even when his heart is getting broken.
‘‘It’s okay,’’ he whispers into your hair as one of his hands runs up and down your back ‘‘we can work this out, yeah?’’
You bite the tip of your tongue as you take his words in, feeling your heart speeding up even faster than what it was when you spilled everything out on him. Maybe you would’ve preferred him getting angry than his current reaction.
‘‘It’s not like we were exclusive, right?’’ Taehyung chuckles, but it feels like he’s convincing himself that that was the reason as to why it happened. ‘‘Let’s forget it, seriously.’’
A shaky sigh comes out of your mouth as your arms, that hadn’t reciprocated his hug, gain the strength to separate yourself from him. He looks taken aback, but he’s waiting for you to reply in agreement because, yes, you could work this out if you try hard enough.
But that’s not realistic. Pretending like you never kissed Jungkook is not realistic at all, because it’s sad to admit that you won’t be able to kiss Taehyung again without thinking about your best friend in the back of your head as you’re reminded that not only did you let him kiss you, but you reciprocated and not only did you reciprocate, but you liked it a little too much.
‘‘Y/N,’’ he speaks up, snapping you from your thoughts,‘‘please, let’s just try.’’ He silently asks─no, begs.
The barking of his dog, Yeontan, startles you as you come to stare at the little dog at the feet of his owner, who at the moment isn’t interested to see what he wants. You never told Taehyung, but the teacup pomeranian was extremely overprotective of him.
He’s barking at you like you’re hurting his owner and maybe you aren’t physically doing any damage, but you know that you’re about to break his heart all over again.
‘‘I-I…,’’ you blink as you try to focus on the man in front of you and not the dog on the ground, ‘‘I’m sorry, I can’t.’’
Yeontan’s barks increase and Taehyung is at a loss for words to beg you to stay and talk things through. You can still hear the dog’s incessant barking as you make your way down the hall and that’s when the tears you were holding finally fall down.
‘‘Taehyung’s a nice guy, Y/N. He forgave you and you just left?’’ Minji asks, disbelief in her tone. ‘‘I thought you liked him.’’
‘‘I do!’’ You finally speak up. You’re sure of it, you like Taehyung. Your friend gives you a puzzled look because she really can’t understand you right now. ‘‘I like Taehyung, I really do,’’ you mutter, ‘‘but it’s not fair to him.’’
Minji scrunches her face up because there’s only one reason you’re thinking that way. She’s tired of this narrative, it’s old and overdone and it should’ve ended years ago.
She lets out a breathless chuckle, ‘‘You love him, don’t you?’’ Another question that takes you by surprise.
‘‘No, I just─’’
Minji holds her finger up, interrupting you, ‘‘I’m talking about Jungkook.’’
This is the attack. Not the other questions she had asked you regarding her old family friend. Not the unannounced arrival to your apartment on an uneventful Saturday morning where you had chosen to stay in bed instead of facing the peaceful yoga instructor. Not the glaring looks she had been giving you for the last minutes.
And if you weren’t ready for any of those, this one definitely takes the prize.
‘‘I-I of course I love him,’’ you mumble, ‘‘he’s my friend.’’
Minji smirks as her eyebrows raise, ‘‘No, I’m asking if you’re in love him.’’
You’re sure that the feelings that you’ve had for Jungkook have always been platonic. You do love him because he’s your friend and you’re supposed to love your friends. But you know that the love that you have for him is very different from the one you have for anyone else. It might be the history between you two. You’ve been with him through it all, cheering from the sidelines as he accomplishes one milestone after the other.
‘‘Be honest with me,’’ Minji demands, ‘‘are you in love with Jungkook?’’ she asks once again.
Your eyes well up and your bottom lip is trembling as you look back at your intimidating best friend because your silence is deafening and you’re expecting her to throw the last blow. You think you deserve it. Minji has so much she wants to say, but you look so dejected and she figures that you might’ve just realized it.
‘‘Hey, it’s okay.’’ She comes up to you quickly, crouching down as she looks up at the tears rolling down your reddened cheeks. ‘‘Y/N, it’s okay.’’
You’ve been trying to tell yourself the same thing the past few days.
It’s okay that you kissed your best friend. It’s okay that you’ve slowly and silently started harbouring feelings for him. It’s okay that you just realized you’ve been in love with him for a while now. It’s okay that you’ve been resenting the fact that he didn’t choose you all those years ago. It’s okay that you take care of and love his daughter like she’s yours.
But...
‘‘No, it’s not.’’ You cry, ‘‘I can’t do that, Minji, he’s not mine to have.’’
Your mind quickly brings you back to the harsh reality, which is that Jungkook will never be yours. He probably only kissed you because he was looking for something that was capable of exciting him again after realizing how bored of his marriage he is. He doesn’t love you like that, he’ll never love you like that.
Minji can’t disagree with what you just said, but she also feels like right now is not the time to make you feel even worse when it’s obvious you’re already there.
‘‘I blocked his number, anyway.’’ You mumble out, wiping away your tears.
Your friend’s eyes widened at the revelation, ‘‘What?’’.
‘‘I freaked out after I talked to Taehyung because I felt so guilty and you know how I don’t know how to deal with shit ever, so I just─’’ You stop yourself from rambling and sigh as you feel Minji’s hand squeezing your knee as a sign of comfort, ‘‘I can’t see him again without thinking about it. I can’t take care of Sunhi knowing he’s going home to sleep with Jiwoo. I just can’t keep pretending anymore.’’
Minji can’t do much after that, you’ve become a sobbing mess and the tears seem unstoppable. She’s never seen you like this and it dawns on her that you’ve held all of this in for way too long.
It’s ironic because she’s always told you that you need space from Jungkook, thinking it’d be good for you to finally realize that you’re not part of his list of priorities anymore and hadn’t been for a long time.
But she hadn’t taken into account what the after effects of not having him in your life anymore would look like.

Jungkook groans in annoyance as he finds another one of his texts left undelivered. It feels like life is either against him or doing this for his own good.
Nonetheless, he wants to talk to you because it’s been a few days since he last saw and heard from you. He figures you’re mad, the last words you spoke to him didn’t sound friendly at all and he wonders if maybe leaving without saying goodbye that day was the right thing to do.
The small snores coming from beside him make him realize Sunhi is finally asleep and he can’t help but let out a sigh of disappointment as he watches her curl into a fetal like position, clutching her Dumbo plush toy and slightly drooling into his favorite pillow, making him pout because he knows he won’t be able to pry it away from her when he decides to fall asleep too.
Sunhi being fast asleep is supposed to bring peace to Jungkook’s tiring day, though the silence is extremely uncomfortable and these days he’s come to realize how much he rather have his daughter running around and yelling in excitement than this.
Complete and utter silence.

‘‘Pumpkin, you can stop smiling already.’’ Jungkook chuckles as he looks up from his phone, noticing his daughter still holding the big smile he had given him when he requested to take a picture of her to send to you. ‘‘I already sent the picture to Auntie Y/N.’’ He informs and she sighs with relief, massaging her cheeks from straining them too hard.
Though his eyebrows furrow, noticing his messages have once again been left undelivered. He makes a mental note to call the phone company soon, because it’s been over a week since he last sent the first messages and those remained in the same state as well.
‘‘Daddy, unpause!’’ Sunhi demands, making him realize that he’s in the middle of showing her his favorite Pixar movie, Cars.
Twenty minutes had passed and for a majority of them Sunhi had only watched attentively and Jungkook looked over at her every other second just to make sure she hadn’t fallen asleep. Warmness spread throughout him as he noticed his daughter looking at the screen with those big doe eyes she had inherited from him.
Once the scene where Sally shows Lightning McQueen around Radiator Springs, Jungkook feels a tug at his sweatshirt and looks down to notice Sunhi’s little hand grabbing at the fabric, her eyes are still glued to the screen.
“Auntie Y/N likes this too?” She asks and Jungkook chuckles because his daughter can’t stop thinking about his friend even when doing anything completely unrelated to you.
Maybe that’s another thing she inherited as well.

Jungkook’s mind has gone blank ever since he got off the phone with the cellphone company.
The idea that you might’ve blocked his number had not once crossed his mind during the weeks of undelivered texts and phone calls sent straight to voicemail. It was obvious, but he didn’t think you’d be capable of doing it.
He wanted it to be a network issue or something else that he could put blame on instead of facing the realization that you had shut him out from your life. And that thought hurt, no─stung him.
The worst part is that he knows he deserves it. It was foolish of him to think that you had enjoyed the kiss too. Dumb enough to believe that you might’ve reciprocated the way he felt.
Jungkook doesn’t want to think this is the end, maybe it’s that stupid voice inside his head that always holds on to things that he knows he should let go of. But he can’t just let go of this and move on.
He doesn’t remember what life was like before you and he sure as hell does not want to know what it’ll be like without you.

“Daddy, lemme go!” Sunhi whines trying to escape from her father’s hands as he finishes applying the sunscreen on her arms, “Daddy!”.
He gives her a stern look and the toddler huffs, sticking her bottom lip out in an act of annoyance. The playground games are waiting for her and she feels like her dad is just coming between them and her.
“Alright,” he pats his big hands on her tiny arms, “you’re good to—“ Jungkook isn’t able to finish his sentence because his daughter’s already running towards one of the slides, “Sunhi, be careful!” He reminds her, but she’s too focused on the rides than on her dad’s warning.
Jungkook sighs and relaxes into the bench.
“She’s precious,” She comments with a small smile as her attention focuses on the little girl having the time of her life going down the slide, “I’m surprised she’s yours.”
Jungkook looks over at the woman beside him and scoffs, but he can’t help but agree. Sunhi is too good and too pure, the best thing he’s ever done in his life.
“Yeah, well, it’s all her.” Jungkook admits, eyes focusing back on Sunhi, “She’s really great.”
There’s an uncomfortable silence between them and Jungkook has to clear his throat to gain her attention.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t meet up at a café,” Jungkook apologizes and nods over at his daughter, “she’s been a little misbehaved lately, you said you wanted to talk to me and I figured that if I took Sunhi to a place like that she’d just—“
She interrupts his rambling, “Hey, it’s okay. I have no problem, really.” She assures him and he nods slightly, “I haven’t been in a place like this in a long time.”
Jungkook scratches the back of his neck and glances over at the woman who’s looking at him with an expression he can’t quite pinpoint. It makes him so nervous that he quickly shifts his gaze to the ground.
“This is so weird.” He admits with an awkward chuckle and she raises her eyebrow, “I mean—you hate me, Minji, so I don’t know what you want to talk about.”
“I don’t hate you!” Minji laughs and Jungkook finally looks at her and she falters, “Seriously! I only dislike you and that’s saying a lot.”
He supposes that’s a good thing, considering how aggressive Minji used to be towards him back in college. Always letting him know how much she despised his guts, how he didn’t deserve to have you as his friend and even once threw a drink at his face during a party; though you swore to him she was drunk and that she didn’t mean it.
Jungkook hadn’t seen her much since, only a few times if it was your birthday and they managed to cross paths, because the girl made sure she was never in the same room as him. The times it happened, he felt like she was throwing daggers at him through her eyes.
“It always bothered me how putty in your hands she was for you,” Minji begins, crossing her arms over her chest as she settles back into the bench, “and how oblivious you were about it.”
Jungkook looks back at her and there’s a small smile on her face, most likely looking over at his daughter.
“How when we got together for study sessions, she’d be tired because she was taking care of you the night before at one of those stupid frat parties you loved dragging her to.” Minji recalls and Jungkook feels like his mouth has gone dry from the memory.
She crosses one of her legs over the other, “Or that whole Jiwoo ordeal, how you had practically put Y/N aside once you managed to date the ‘campus hottie’.” She says with air quotes and Jungkook sighs, remembering the beginning of it all.
He knows that he can’t turn back time and change it all. Even if he could, he knows he wouldn’t. If there was no Jiwoo, there’d be no Sunhi.
An excited yell startles him as he looks over at his daughter, swinging up and down. “Look, daddy! I'm flying!” She calls and he smiles at her.
“Jesus, that’s fucking precious.” Minji mumbles, but he hears her nonetheless and nods in agreement. “Anyway, I’m not going to act like a saint here and pretend I was vouching for you, because I never did.”
Jungkook knows. Back then he didn’t understand why Minji was so adamant about trash talking him to you, considering how he and her barely knew each other. Actually, whatever knowledge they had of the other was through of you.
But Jungkook’s done a lot of self reflecting for the past month and a half and he’s realized why Minji disliked him so much. Or, dislikes. Either way, it’s valid.
“I just wanted her to snap out of it,” she confesses, “and realize that there is a life beyond you. That there’s more than being your best friend and your daughter’s babysitter. That she’s capable of moving on and putting you aside, because if you did that to her then why shouldn’t she?”
Jungkook hadn’t thought about any of that at all. He had realized he had been a shitty friend, but the idea of just how much definitely hadn’t settled on him. He wishes you knew how much he’s cared about you, but that there were too many overlapping lines for him to ever express it.
“I thought that after setting her up with Taehyung she had finally realized it,” she continues “but you know how she is, she rarely lets up and I knew she wasn’t going to let you go that easily.”
Jungkook draws in a long breath, rubbing his now clammy hands in his jeans as he looks back towards Minji.
“I mean, she couldn’t let her go that easily.” She jerks her head towards Sunhi, still sitting on the swings, though she’s slowed down now. “She loves that little girl so damn much.”
Jungkook’s sure of this. He recognizes the immense love you have for Sunhi, how sincere and unconditional it is. It’s the way a mother loves her child, though he never expected it to come from you instead. He’s not surprised though, because it’s the same love you gave to him. But it’s louder, there are no boundaries that you needed to respect to show Sunhi just how much you loved her, unlike with him.
It dawns on him that cutting him off must’ve been hard. You probably wanted to do it for way longer and only stayed because of Sunhi and Jungkook doesn’t want to think about the dilemma you must’ve went through to finally do it this time around.
He runs his hands through his hair, letting out a shaky breath, remembering that Sunhi doesn’t have you anymore. That’s the reason as to why she’s been so misbehaved lately, crying way too often, throwing tantrums over the smallest of things. Jungkook could blame it on the fact that she’s soon turning four and maybe it’s something that comes with age, it might just be a coincidence that she’s acting this way during a time you’re no longer present in her life.
This is the thing Sunhi might not be able to forgive him for.
“Minji,” he finally speaks up and the woman beside him focuses his gaze back on him, “I miss her so much.” He mumbles, not trusting himself to speak up because he might choke back a sob.
“Only now?”
“No!” He says this a little too harshly and Minji jumps slightly at the tone in his voice, “I’ve always missed her and I’m fucking idiot for realizing too late.”
She hums and Jungkook’s chest rises and falls with rapid breaths, “She’s my first thought when I wake up and when I finally manage to go to sleep. Sunhi constantly reminds me about her, asking me where she is and when can she see her and I have to force myself to lie.”
Jungkook doesn’t realize Minji’s hand is now awkwardly placed on his back, hesitantly tapping as if to give him some comfort. It’s weird to see him like this, she had convinced herself that the guy didn’t have any feelings when it came to you.
“She blocked my number, I can’t call her and all my texts have been left undelivered. I’ve driven by her apartment building too many times with the plan to go up and talk to her, but I always back out because I’m an idiot and I know she’ll hate me if I do that and I—“
“Jungkook.”
“I just want to know if she still cares, I don’t mind if she doesn’t feel the same way. But I want to know that Y/N still cares about Sunhi and me. Do you know? Does she? Could you please—“
Jungkook’s ramble is interrupted by the crying sounds of Sunhi, who’s now on the ground as she sobs and he quickly stands up to go straight towards her. He blinks away the tears that had formed in his eyes because there’s only room for one crying baby here.
“Pumpkin, what happened?” He asks in a soft voice, crouching down at her level and she’s pouting as she points at her bloody knee. “Did you fall down?” She nods and he sighs, picking her up as he takes her back to the bench where Minji waits with expectancy to check on the little girl.
Jungkook places Sunhi beside her and looks through his daughter’s bag for the emergency kit he carried around. He cleans the blood delicately with a gauze and alcohol, making the little girl wince and yelp out an ‘ouch!’ as she holds tightly to Minji’s thigh.
“It’s okay, Pumpkin.” He reassures her with a smile, making his daughter nod because she trusts her dad, “It was an accident and accidents are part of growing up, right?” She nods again and Minji figures this isn’t a first for her.
Once the blood has been cleaned, Jungkook places a cute rainbow patterned bandaid on the wound in her knee.
“There we go,” he announces and Sunhi lets out the breath she’d been holding, ‘‘all done! Are you good now?”
“Yes,” Sunhi weakly replies, “daddy, I wanna go home.”
Jungkook’s eyebrows raise in surprise, but the look on her face tells him that she’s probably still shaken by the accident and most likely wants to take a nap to forget about it.
He looks over at Minji with an apologetic look and she gives him half a smile, “Go, it’s alright.”
Jungkook nods and takes Sunhi in his arms, which she gladly accepts and settles her head in the crook of his neck. Minji’s ready to leave, figuring there was no point in staying any longer.
“Minji, wait!” He stops her before she goes, making her turn around and offer him a curious look, “Sunhi’s birthday is in a few weeks and,” Jungkook reaches for something inside his daughter’s bag, “she really wants Y/N to be there.” He whispers, taking out a party invitation to hand over to Minji.
She smirks, looking at the personalized invitation for his daughter’s fourth birthday, “Just Sunhi?” She asks and he lets out a breathless laugh.
“Me too.” Jungkook adds and a small smile appears on his face as he says it. “Uh—thank you for talking to me, I know it must’ve been hard.”
Minji swats her hand in the air, “It’s alright, just wanted to make sure how you and the kid were doing. It’s all she talks about anyway.”
A gasp escapes his lips and he holds on to his daughter tighter as she nuzzles her face farther in.
“I’ll give her the card, but—I can’t guarantee if she’ll go.” She warns and he nods, understanding.
Though he does not like the possible outcome, he settles down with the idea that you’ll notice how even though you both haven’t spoken towards each other in almost two months, he’s still thinking about you either way. Every day.

bathtime
read the previous part here!
The rush of running water echoed off the walls of Obi-Wan’s upstairs bathroom. He tested the temperature with a hum of satisfaction before flipping the brass lever that controlled the drain.
It was well past time that his bathtub got some use. The huge old thing had been touted as a selling point by his realtor, but he’d really selected the house for its proximity to work. He didn’t have the time or inclination to lounge about, preferring to stick to economical morning showers.
Hopefully Anakin would enjoy it.
Knowing the tub would take a few minutes to fill, Obi-Wan headed downstairs. The itch of apprehension whenever he let Anakin out of his sight was quickly becoming familiar— as was the wash of relief when he found him where he’d left him.
Approximately, anyway. He’d gotten up and was examining the sparse decorations on the fridge. At a small clear of Obi-Wan’s throat, his ears twitched and he jerked back with a guilty look.
Obi-Wan smiled gently. “Nothing interesting there, I’m afraid.”
“I wasn’t—”
“It’s fine to be curious; ask me anything you like.”
Even in the dim light, the conflict of opposing impulses was clearly visible on that expressive face. Obi-Wan had to stifle a smile.
Finally, inquisitiveness won out.
“Why do you have this?” Anakin jabbed a finger at his copy of the year’s academic calendar.
“Oh, that?” He wasn’t sure what he’d been expecting. “I teach there. I’m a professor of sociology.”
Anakin wrinkled his nose. “Really? Aren’t most professors, you know...”
“What?”
“Um. Old?”
This time Obi-Wan couldn’t hold back a laugh. “Indeed we are. And terribly boring, I’m sure you’ll find.”
He’d hoped to draw out a smile. If he had, it was hidden as Anakin curled in on himself, beginning to shiver again. The sight was perturbing, unacceptable.
“Will you come with me? Your bath should be nearly ready.”
Anakin ducked his head and followed.
The air in the bathroom was muggy, the mirror fogged with steam. Obi-Wan turned off the water while his guest watched, fidgeting, from the doorway.
“There we are. If it’s too hot, you can just— well, I’m sure you know.” He winced internally. He wasn’t used to stumbling over his words like this, but then again he was hardly used to overnight guests, either.
“I got it,” said Anakin, taking a few apprehensive steps towards the tub.
“I’ll be nearby if you need anything,” Obi-Wan promised. He turned to leave but paused at the threshold as a thought occurred to him. “Oh— if you leave your wet things outside the door, I’ll throw them in the laundry. You can borrow something of mine for the night.”
Anakin gave a jerky nod, still staring at the water like it might bite him.
“Remember,” he repeated, “Whatever you need.”
Obi-Wan closed the door, shutting in the heat and humidity. Right. Clothes. Pajamas would do for now. He walked purposefully to the bedroom, meaning to fetch them right away, but as soon as he entered his legs went oddly weak and shaky. His neatly made bed awaited him; Obi-Wan sat down heavily, fingers twisting in the duvet.
For the first time since Anakin had knocked on his door, he was alone. He pinched the bridge of his nose, doing his best to push back an impending headache as his thoughts raced to catalogue the implications of the night’s events.
He’d let a complete stranger into his home, his sanctuary, without even hesitating. Anakin had been far from forthcoming about his situation, but it was clear he was in some sort of trouble. Something serious, perhaps beyond what had landed him on the streets and in Obi-Wan’s backyard in the first place. He might be risking his own safety, all for a boy whose last name he didn’t even know.
Alone in the dark, Obi-Wan sat with these facts, turning them over and over in his mind. What was he doing? Was he being gullible, a fool?
A slight splashing, the sound of a body getting comfortable in a hot bath, filtered in from down the hall.
With a rising sense of certainty that he rarely experienced, Obi-Wan realized that he didn’t care. He didn’t care what kind of mess Anakin was caught up in. He didn’t care what he’d done to end up here, or what the consequences might be.
From the moment he’d laid eyes on Anakin, Obi-Wan had been seized with an inexplicable desire to protect him. To care for him. And Anakin... Anakin had asked him, begged him, for help.
To turn him away was, quite simply, an impossibility.
Obi-Wan breathed slow and deliberate, in through his nose and out through his mouth, until he felt calm again. His knees were still a little weak, but he felt much better by the time he’d managed to dig out his spare pajamas and return to the hallway.
Anakin’s clothes lay by the bathroom in a crumpled pile. As Obi-Wan bent to pick them up, he froze at a sound from the other side of the door. He almost thought it was his imagination until he heard it again, this time unmistakable— a small, hiccuping sob.
“Anakin,” He pressed his face to the doorframe. “Is something the matter?”
“‘m fine,” came the muffled response.
“Are you sure? You don’t sound fine.”
“It’s just,” he sniffled. “My hair, I can’t... it hurts.”
Obi-Wan frowned, at a loss. “What do you mean? Is there something I could do, bring you something or...”
A short pause, and then,
“Can you help me?”
“Help you?” He must be hearing things. Surely, Anakin wouldn’t want him to... “You mean, come in there and... and what?”
Anakin sniffled again. “I’m sorry, it was stupid, please just forget I asked—”
“No!” Obi-Wan interjected, far too sharply. He shook himself and tried for a softer tone. “No. It’s good that you asked. You just caught me by surprise, that’s all. Are you sure that’s what you want?”
Another pause. “...yeah, okay.”
“Alright.” This night was getting more surreal by the minute. He took a deep breath and put his hand on the doorknob. “I’m coming in now.”
Obi-Wan opened the door slowly, leaving plenty of time for a change of heart. He was determined not to look unnecessarily, but he could make out Anakin in his peripheral vision. His back was to Obi-Wan, his head hung on drawn-up knees. His tail hung over the side of the tub, slowly dripping water onto the floor. Every few seconds, he drew a ragged little breath that echoed too loudly in the tiny space.
Obi-Wan could scarcely stand it.
“What do you need me to do?”
Anakin glanced back over his shoulder with puffy eyes. “It’s all this,” he said miserably. “It’s a mess and I can’t, I can’t fix it.” He lifted a hand out of the water to run over the back of his hair. Obi-Wan’s eyes caught on the pale golden skin of his arm, the graceful line of it that bent to a broad back flushed pink with heat, the curve of his spine disappearing beyond— stop it.
He was here to help, not— whatever that was.
A few cautious steps put him within arms reach. “May I?”
“Yeah.”
A single brush of Obi-Wan’s hand made the problem clear; Anakin’s curls were snarled and matted, doubtlessly from the depridations of wind and rain. The process of detangling would be painful, perhaps downright impossible with the claws Anakin was sporting.
He tutted softly. “I see. We’ll get this sorted out.”
Obi-Wan fetched a bottle from the shower and rummaged in his grooming kit for a wide-toothed comb, grateful for a few moments where he didn’t have to rigidly control where his eyes were pointing.
“What’s that?” Anakin asked suspiciously, craning his neck to see what was going on.
“Conditioner.” Obi-Wan knelt on the bathmat and set the comb aside, again doing his very best not to look at Anakin’s shoulders.  “I don’t have to use it, but it’ll ease the way quite a bit.”
“It’s fine, I’ve just—” Anakin looked down. “I’ve never really used stuff like that.”
“First time for everything,” Obi-Wan said lightly, dispensing a large dollop into his hand. “Ready?”
At a short nod, he began to apply the conditioner, starting at the crown and carefully distributing it through the messy locks. The parts that weren’t tangled were very soft, slipping pleasantly between his fingers. He wasn’t quite sure what to do about Anakin’s ears, which twitched slightly in response to each touch. It looked like Anakin had avoided them in his attempts to re-wet his own hair, so Obi-Wan tried to do the same.
After a few seconds, Anakin made a tiny oh.
“What is it?”
“It, um, smells like you.”
Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow. “You can smell me?” He wondered if that was an ability that came with Anakin’s more... unusual features.
“Yeah,” Anakin admitted, dragging a finger along the surface of the water. “It’s nice.”
“Er.”
“The conditioner, I mean.”
“Oh.” Obi-Wan cleared his throat awkwardly. “Good.”
Anakin’s hair was now covered in conditioner, as were his hands. Unwilling to dip them in the bathwater, so close to Anakin’s body, he opted to wipe them on the nearby hand towel with a grimace. Then he took up the comb, hoping for the best. It would be a shame to cut any of that beautiful hair.
As Obi-Wan gathered up the ends, his knuckles rubbed across the nape of Anakin’s neck. He felt rather than saw the damp skin erupt in gooseflesh, peach fuzz brushing softly against his fingers.
Anakin didn’t move, nor did he make a sound when Obi-Wan began to comb through the tangles. Though he was as careful as he could be, the sharp tugs required to undo the worst of them must have been painful. But Anakin made no complaint but an occasional quick intake of breath. He just stared down at the water, quietly allowing Obi-Wan to see to him.
For the second time that night, Obi-Wan felt unsteady with realization. It suddenly occurred to him how petty his concerns had been. Whatever fear he’d experienced was infinitesimal compared to how Anakin must be feeling right now, in the house of a near stranger with no way of ascertaining his intentions.
Anakin was hurt and alone. Naked and vulnerable.
And yet somehow he trusted Obi-Wan to be near him, to touch him.
He had to let Anakin know that his trust was not misplaced. That Obi-Wan would protect him, take care of him. That he was safe.
Still moving the comb in steady strokes, he searched for the right words.
“Anakin— I want you to know that, well... I’m in your corner, alright? Whatever is going on, whatever kind of trouble you’re in, you have me on your side.”
“No, you’re not,” said Anakin in a hollow voice. “You don’t know.”
Obi-Wan hummed as he finished undoing a particularly nasty snarl.
“I know you won’t give me details, but answer me this. Did you hurt someone? Beyond the bounds of self defense, I mean,” he added hastily.
“No, but—”
Obi-Wan continued, speaking over him. “And do you plan to hurt me?”
“Of course not.” The response carried just a tinge of defensive fire, making Obi-Wan smile.
“Then you have me on your side, for whatever you might need.”
Anakin flicked at the bathwater dispiritedly. “What does it matter? I’ll be gone tomorrow, anyway.”
A sudden, overwhelming surge of protectiveness made his hand involuntarily tighten in Anakin’s hair. No, he wanted to say. You’ll stay here, with me, where you’re safe.
That was something he had no right to decide or even ask. Obi-Wan mastered himself, loosening his grip and clenching his jaw until he was sure something less wildly inappropriate would come out.
“That doesn’t have to be the case,” he said tentatively, beginning to comb again. He was working on the front pieces now, nearly finished.  “Not if you don’t want it to be.”
“I... I don’t understand.”
“If you wish to leave, of course I won’t stand in your way. But should you need a place to stay... it can be here. For as long as you need.”
Anakin’s ears flattened. “Don’t say that!” he snapped, then almost inaudibly added, “You don’t mean that.”
“I do,” said Obi-Wan gently.
“You don’t,” Anakin whispered. He hunched forward in the tub, wrapping his arms around his knees in a tight, self-protective hold.
“I do, but there’s no need to decide yet.” Obi-Wan said lightly, setting aside the comb. “Let’s just get this all rinsed out, shall we?”
If Anakin wouldn’t stay, he could at least do his best to take care of him until he left. Obi-Wan opened the tap again, letting more warm water flow into the bathtub, and gently guided Anakin underneath. Anakin was pliant under his hands, allowing Obi-Wan to tilt his head this way and that as he rubbed gently at his scalp.
The ears presented a problem again. There was nothing for it but to carefully lift them, one by one, so he could scrub underneath. Obi-Wan thought they were by far the softest thing he’d ever felt.
His fingers moved of their own volition, stroking for a split second until the ear twitched under his touch and he remembered himself. If Anakin made a sound, it was lost beneath the roar of water.
Finally, Anakin’s hair was clean, hanging back from his face in a sopping curtain. Obi-Wan regretfully eased his head forward and let go, deprived of the excuse to touch.
What would happen now, he wondered. He could, should, dry off his hands and take his leave, show Anakin where to sleep and get some rest himself, and then...? It seemed all too clear, what he would find in the morning. An empty bed, an empty house. Anakin in the wind again, this time maybe forever.
The thought was intolerable.
Obi-Wan had to try. He dug deep to find the magic words, the perfect words that would convince Anakin to stay, and found nothing but the truth.
It went against every instinct to say it, but it was the only card he had left to play.
“About my offer,” he ventured, sitting back on his heels.
“Yeah?” Anakin mumbled into his knees.
“I wanted to let you know that, well... I would like it. If you stayed.”
“W-what?” Anakin’s head lifted and his ears twitched slightly.
“It would make me happy. I—” Obi-Wan took a deep breath. “I want you to stay.”
He pressed his lips together, leaving the words to hang without any qualifiers or equivocations, even as the seconds stretched with no response. And then, in the stillness, Anakin began to tremble.
“Anakin? What’s the matter, please tell me, I didn’t mean to upset you.” As if drawn by a magnet, Obi-Wan reached out a hand and rested it comfortingly on Anakin’s shoulder. It only shook more under his touch, and Anakin gasped in a harsh breath as silent sobs wracked his body.
“I’m sorry,” Obi-Wan continued frantically, “You don’t have to stay, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want... I’m sorry.”
He knew he shouldn’t be touching Anakin, not when he’d overstepped like this, so he began to pull away— and froze, shocked, when a warm, wet hand wrapped around his own, keeping it in place. Holding it.
Without warning and far too quickly, Anakin spun to face him. A tremendous surge of water drenched the floor and Obi-Wan’s pants. But he barely noticed, not as Anakin, very wet and very naked, leaned over the side of the tub and threw his arms around Obi-Wan’s neck.
Anakin was hugging him. Obi-Wan froze in shock, but he didn’t seem to notice. He only sobbed harder, burying his face in Obi-Wan’s sweater.
Obi-Wan couldn’t remember the last time someone had held him this tightly. The sharp points of Anakin’s claws grazed his back, and a silky ear tickled his skin.
Slowly, tentatively, his arms lifted to return the embrace. He wasn’t quite sure where to put his hands, and settled for placing one on the middle of Anakin’s back, the other in his hair.
“Shh...” he found himself whispering. “Shh... there, there.” He could hear Anakin crying now, choked breaths endlessly chasing each other out of his throat.  “I’m here, sweetheart. I’ve got you.”
Obi-Wan ran his fingers through Anakin’s damp curls, over and over, scratching lightly against his scalp. He held him, with no thoughts but to comfort him, to soothe whatever pain had him so undone. Slowly, slowly, the wracking sobs subsided, leaving Anakin hiccuping and sniffling into his shoulder.
“I’ve got you,” he repeated, even as Anakin slipped out of his arms to curl in on himself once again, as floppy eared and despondent as before.
This time, though, something felt different. A lingering warmth, the ghost of a touch, that perhaps stood a chance at melting the many barriers between them.
Red-rimmed eyes flicked up to meet Obi-Wan’s, just for a moment.
“Okay,” said Anakin. “I’ll stay.”

A/N: IM NOT EXCITED ABOUT HITOSHI YOU ARE. I am very excited about my favorite boi. I love this fictional man so much. I really hope you all enjoy, this first part is very different than most parts of the CLUMSY series. I hope you enjoy it regardless! (This has been updated on 4/22/21, on the fact that I realized going forward there would be too many plot holes, so I changed a few things regarding the parent situation, this will help me with future parts.)
“No one is going to even take you seriously as a hero! You would just waste your time if you tried out for the hero course at UA!” The bullies hissed at you as they passed you at your locker. You had considered potentially going for the entrance exam for UA, but with your quirk you were hesitant. Hearing all these other students reject the idea. You weren’t particularly popular in your school and it didn’t help that most of the other students looked down on you for your quirk. Being able to turn another person into a lifeless ragdoll wasn’t favored amongst others as they saw it as either useless or a villain's quirk. “She’d be good at capturing villains at best.” Another sneered. “Or heroes.” Laughed another.
Tears threatened to fall from your eyes when you heard, “Don’t you think it’s not very plus ultra of you all to be picking on someone for their quirk?”. You turned around to meet the violet eyes of one of your classmates, Shinsou Hitoshi. He had been another student who was rejected by most of the student population for his brain washing quirk. “Oh what a great pair! Two villains with useless quirks.” The first bully snarled at Hitoshi. “Be careful, man. You don’t want him activating his quirk on you.” The bully’s ally mentioned. Shinsou raised his eyebrow at them and they scattered away from the two of you.
“You shouldn’t let others get to you so easily.” Shinsou sighed once the bullies were out of sight. You nodded at him before turning back towards your locker. “You know, when someone helps you, you usually say thank you.” He scoffed, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Or are you also afraid of me using my quirk on you?” He pushed, squinting his eyes at you. You turned back around with tears running down your cheeks. This took him by surprise. “Thank you.” You breathed as you attempted a fake smile. Something pulled at Hitoshi’s heartstrings that day the way you thanked him without worrying about him using his quirk against you.
“Oh. Uh, y-yeah, you’re welcome.” He replied, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. “Let me repay you by getting you lunch.” You said, quickly finishing fumbling around in your locker and turning your attention his way once more. “You really don’t have to go through all that trouble. It was nothing, really.” He tried to coax, but you shook your head determined. “You helped me, let me repay you.” You said in a determined tone. He would never admit it out loud, but he was pretty sure right then and there is when he fell for you.
You and Hitoshi’s relationship was easy. Well as easy as it was for two student’s who didn’t attend the same school. Hitoshi had wound up applying and getting into UA but ending up in the general studies course. When you found out and saw how dejected he felt, you tried to cheer him up. You were the one who encouraged him to work hard to get his place in the Hero Course.
“You don’t understand, Y/N. The students in the hero course are on a whole different level.” He sighed to you. “And so are you, ‘Toshi! You are the hardest working person I know! You are going to be able to do anything if you put your mind to it!” You reassured him. The two of you were at the local park with his head in your lap. You were running your hands through his hair in attempts to calm the anxious lavender haired boy. “You saw what happened in the sports festival. I know you watched it. I am nowhere near their level of power.” He sighed in defeat, turning his head away from you.
“Then get to their level! I’ve seen some of the other students in that class, and you surpass them without even batting an eyelash. What’s the one with the purple balls stuck to his head? From what I’ve heard he’s not as strong as you are in the slightest. Push past your limits and impress the teachers! Get them to notice you!” You exclaimed; eyes filled to the brim with determination. He turned his head back over to look at you and when he saw how serious you were, his expression softened. “You’re right, like always. I just get in my head sometimes.” He admitted, humming when you went back to running your hands through his hair. “And I’m always here to ground you when you need it.” You said, expressing your feelings towards the boy.
“I don’t know how I got so lucky to have you in my life, doll. I will always be so baffled I have you, but god am I glad I do.” He said, averting his gaze away from you. You could see the small blush dawning his cheeks and your cheeks matched his. It wasn’t rare for Hitoshi to show his affection for you, but when you two had small intimate moments like this, it made all of the struggles worth it.
You were sitting in your normal spot in the park where you usually met up with your boyfriend. Your school tended to let out a bit earlier than Hitoshi’s did. This was routine for the two of you at this point. Every Tuesday, Thursday and occasionally the weekends, the two of you met up to talk about your days in person. Flipping through one of your notebooks, you hadn’t heard Shinsou approach the bench. He snatched the notebook out of your hands and tossed it to the side. “Hey! Hitoshi!” You shouted in protest but were immediately thrown off guard by him picking you up and spinning you around. A squeak left your mouth at the action.
When he put you down, he was all smiles. “What has gotten into you, ‘Toshi?” You asked, smiling back at him. You couldn’t help it; his genuine smile was so contagious. You loved seeing him this happy, as he always looked so tired and stressed. “One of the teacher’s at UA is going to take me on as my mentor! He’s going to train me! He’s a bit of a stricter and rougher instructor than the rest, but he said if I worked hard enough I could potentially get into the hero course!” He exclaimed, barely holding in his excitement. Your mouth dropped open in surprise, but you squealed in equal excitement.
“Hitoshi Shinsou! That’s amazing!” You cheered, smothering the boy in kisses all over his face. He erupted in hearty laughter, pushing you playfully off of him. Both of you were beaming excitedly at each other. “Thank you for always believing in me, Y/N.” He said, pressing his forehead against yours. You could feel the appreciation oozing from him. You couldn’t wipe the smile off your face even if you tried. “No need to thank me, silly. That’s what I’m here for. To cheer you on and make sure you do your best!” You replied, nuzzling your nose against his. He scrunched his nose in response before placing a soft kiss to your forehead.
“I am worried though.” He stated, his tone dropping. You looked at him with an eyebrow raised, making you worried in less than a second. “Why are you worried? You’re going to do great!” You coaxed, sitting back down on the park bench before tugging on Hitoshi’s jacket sleeve to follow in your suite. “That’s not what worries me, doll. I’ll have to do a lot of after school training with my mentor. That means I won’t be able to come see you during the week anymore.” He said, shifting his gaze away from you. Shinsou was half expecting you to leave him with that development.
“Then I’ll just see you when you are available, dummy. I want you to be able to pursue this dream you’ve been chasing! I’ll be here when you need or want me to be! I’m always going to be in your corner. No matter what.” You reassured him, flicking his forehead playfully. “Hey!” He scoffed when he felt you flick him. His eyes turned from serious to playful in a moment’s notice. “You are going to regret that, doll.” He hissed; his tone filled with mischief. He pulled you close to him, tickling your sides mercilessly. You squealed and tried to break out of his grip, but he was much stronger than you were.
“St-STOP. HITOSHI STOP IM SORRY.” You manage to squeal out in between your fits of giggles. His attack at your sides stopped momentarily, while smiling at you adoringly. “It’ll be a lot worse if you do that again.” He whispered in your ear. You separated yourself from him, fake huffing in annoyance. “You can be such a pain, ‘Toshi.” You grumbled. He put a finger under your chin and turned your head to face him. His face was mere inches from your own; making your face flush a deep red. “I can make it up to you.” He whispered, his lips ghosting inches from your own. You nodded your head with hooded eyelids and let his lips capture yours without another word.
You melt into his affection, sighing into the kiss. Your hand entangled into his messy hair quickly, and his hand moved from your chin over to your jaw; his thumb rubbing against your jawline softly. As quickly as he initiated the kiss, he pulled away, making you groan. “I knew you liked me.” He teased with that shit eating grin of his. You frowned at him and huffed in annoyance. He tenderly kissed you on the cheek before placing his forehead onto your own. “I love you, Y/N. Thank you for always being here for me.” He whispered.
You had to stop your mouth from falling open. The two of you had only been dating for over a year, but Hitoshi never uttered those three words to you. Your heart swelled and melted all in the same breath. You couldn’t stop the happy tears from falling down your cheeks and the smile from spreading across your face. “I love you too, Hitoshi.” You uttered, before giving him a quick peck on the lips. Hitoshi felt like he was on cloud nine, having you by his side and being told he would be training with one of his favorite pro-heroes.
He walked you to the train station, holding onto your hand tightly as if afraid to let it go. When your train was announced to be stopping into the station soon, you turned towards your boyfriend with a smile. He, on the other hand, was not smiling. A frown was embedded on his face, thinking about how little he was going to see you now. “Don’t frown at me! I’ll see you on weekends if you’re available. Plus we will still text and call each other right?” You asked, hope still gleaming in those beautiful eyes of yours. He forced out a laugh and nodded his head at your statement. “Please text me when you get home. I want to make sure you get back safe.” He muttered, tugging you into his embrace.
You hugged him back, nodding and inhaled his cologne one last time. “I better get going before I miss my train and make my mother anxious of getting home too late.” You mentioned, looking up one more time at your boyfriend. “I love you, get home safe.” He said, placing one more final kiss to your forehead. “I love you too. Let me know when you get back to your dorms, okay?” You replied. He nodded his head and watched you get onto your train. A sigh left his lips watching the train depart, only because he was not sure how everything was going to turn out. If you would be patient with him while he trained to become a hero to protect you.
You arrived home, not too late to make your mother worry, but to at least raise some questions. “You stay after school again?” Your mother asked from the living room, making you stop in your tracks from walking towards your room. You had hoped she had gone to bed, but you should know better than that. She liked to make sure you got home safe and sound. “I met up with Hitoshi at the park again. Sorry to make you worry, mom.” You told her, heading over to give her a kiss on the cheek. “Well your father called; you may want to give him a call before he goes on second duty, or worse, sends out a search party for you.” She mentioned as you walked up towards your room. You nodded your head, rolling your eyes at your father’s ridiculous nature, and quickly ran up the stairs to your room.
Putting your school bag down, you quickly pulled your phone out to video call your father. Within mere seconds he had answered your call. “Hi Papa.” You greeted with a smile. “I called your mother about an hour ago, where were you?” He immediately started to question you, making you roll your eyes. “I already told mom I was meeting with Hitoshi today. Did she not mention it on the phone?” I asked, seeing the annoyance immediately come onto his face.  “When are you going to bring that boy around for me to meet him? Your mother has also been itching to meet this boyfriend of yours. You’ve been seeing him for quite some time now.” Your father mentioned, his eyes looking more tired than usual. He had been working overtime with all the villain activities going on, but he always made time for you.
You had lived separately from your father due to his work needing him on call at all hours of the day. Your parents weren’t married, nor were they still dating but they were cordial for your sake. They had made arrangements where you could live comfortably if you so choose, but over the years you had seemed to be with your mother more. You occasionally saw your father on the weekends when he wasn’t too busy, but for the most part you spoke to your father either by video call or by text messages.
“I don’t know dad; I don’t want him to get freaked out. Plus, you know you can be a bit on the intimidating side.” You whispered, making a chuckle escape his lips. “Maybe that’s a good reason to bring him around. He may need a good scaring.” Your father pointed out, making you roll your eyes. “I just worry about you; I want you to be taken care of no matter what. No stupid boy is going to hurt my precious daughter. Especially one that avoids his girlfriend’s family.” He continued. “He’s not scared of meeting you, he’s offered plenty of times. I just don’t want him to feel pressured. Especially by my big scary father.” You joked, sticking your tongue out playfully.
“Well I’d like to meet him one day, Y/N. I don’t like the thought of you being out with some stranger. I want to know you are with someone who can protect you.” Your father sighed, putting the book he was reading down. “He can, I promise. He took care of those bullies for me when I was in middle school.” You pointed out with a smile. You noticed a notification pop onto your screen to see Hitoshi messaged you when he got back to the dorms at UA, and you quickly let him know you just arrived back at home yourself. “Plus, I wasn’t expecting you to call tonight. Don’t you have a shift to be at?” You questioned your dad.
“Yes, but I wanted to make sure you got home safely. I know Tuesdays and Thursdays are your days you meet up with this mysterious boyfriend of yours.” Your father said before standing up to put his coat on. This made you puff your cheeks out, he had known where you were, but still decided to make a big deal of it. “You know what he looks like dad.” You scoffed and shook your head at his ridiculousness. “That’s if he’s real.” He countered, the usual banter the two of you shared. “You’ve also seen pictures with me and him together. You told me to take a selfie with him one day and you swore I pulled a random boy off the street.” You countered back. A smile was etched on your face. You loved the playful banter you and your father had with each other.
“However, he got accepted into this really cool program and now he’s going to be a bit preoccupied during the week. So I should be home during the week unless I text you otherwise.” You admitted as your father got ready for his shift. While you might not have seen your father a lot in person, you definitely favored him over your mother. You might not have looked a lot like him, or acted as aloof as he did, but your relationship couldn’t have been any stronger.
“I swear if he hurts you, I will find out where he lives, and I will hurt him way worse than he could ever hurt you.” Your father immediately responded. “He’s not going to hurt me, papa. He’s just chasing after a life goal, and I don’t want to hold him back! I also heard his mentor is really strict so I’m sure he’s going to need lots of rest.” You confirmed, trying to coax your father into calming down. He stared at you for a moment before relaxing his stern gaze. “My warning still stands, so you better tell that boy to treat you right before I end all of his life goals.” He threatened. You rolled your eyes and blew him a kiss.
“Don’t work too hard, I’ll see you tomorrow for dinner.” You told him and he nodded his head before saying his goodbyes. Not longer after that you laid down on your bed. “I’m really excited to see you succeed, ‘Toshi.” You texted him. Your phone rang almost immediately after you sent him the text, seeing his face pop up on your screen. A smile spread across your lips as you saw your sleepy boyfriend laying in his bed. “Can’t sleep?” You asked, snuggling into your blankets. He shook his head no. “Too excited, but I know training starts tomorrow so I should get some rest.” He muttered, almost sighing after his statement.
“I wish I could be there to lull you to sleep with cuddles.” You mutter. “Me too, doll.” He replied sleepily. “My father is going to fight you by the way.” You mentioned, making him look up at you with a questioning look on his face. “He’s being overdramatic like usual. He’s just convinced you're not real because you haven’t met him.” You said with a yawn. “I’ve offered to come over multiple times.” He said with an annoyed look on his face, as if you were blaming him. “No I know! I just know how focused on your studies you get, and now especially with this mentor opportunity!” You frantically said. “Maybe once you get into the hero program we can go out and celebrate and I’ll bring him along.” You offered.
“I think I’d like that a lot.” He smiled. He enjoyed the fact that you believed in him so much and that you were so convinced he was going to get into the hero course. “Can we fall asleep on the phone together?” You asked shyly, nuzzling yourself further into your blankets. “I don’t know, will your father get upset with me for that?” He teased. A huff left your lips and he chuckled. “Fine, fine.” He gave in, seeing how cute your sleepy pout was. Your pout was immediately replaced with a smile that made his heart melt.
The two of you continued to casually pillow talk until he heard your soft snores on the other end of the line. He looked up from his textbook to see you softly sleeping. A look of adoration dawned his face as he saw you in your most vulnerable state. The smile was etched on his face as he went back to studying his textbook, occasionally checking on you to make sure you were still sound asleep. Until he fell asleep himself, wishing you a goodnight before nodding off to sleep.

ok I have this question:
how would sally act and feel if percy and annabeth broke up? Of course then they will be back together, bu what could be sally’s reaction?
Can someone write something about that pleasee
Tumblr media
Maybe, if he’d been paying more attention, he would’ve seen it coming. He would’ve seen her drifting away, would’ve seen the growing space between them. But he hadn’t. So Percy was kind of blind-sighted when Annabeth said, “I think we should break up.”
He blinked. “What?”
She sighed and shut her laptop. “Something is just… wrong. And I’ve been trying to figure it out and I can’t and I’m tired. I’m exhausted, actually. So I think it might just be best.”
“Something’s wrong?”
Annabeth pursed her lips. “If you can’t see it, that’s probably part of the problem,” she mumbled, more to herself. “Yeah. Something is off. With us. You don’t feel it at all?”
Percy thought for a moment. There were maybe a handful of moments where he’d thought something was wrong but he just assumed those were occasional bad days. He’d never seen something wrong with the whole relationship.
“I mean… no,” he said carefully. “Why don’t we talk about it and figure it out, though?”
She bit her lip. “I’ve been trying to figure it out for a while and I have nothing. And you didn’t even realize something was wrong. So that gets us nowhere.”
“So you just wanna give up on… us?”
She stared at him. “Did you miss me saying I have tried figuring this out? It’s not like I’m giving up immediately. I’m exhausted, Percy.”
“And you didn’t think to bring it up sooner?” he asked, forcing himself to stay calm.
She huffed out a humorless laugh. “Would it have done me much good?” she asked. He didn’t get the chance to answer because she stood, taking her laptop with her and walking towards their bedroom. Percy didn’t hesitate to follow her. Unsettling anxiety rolled over him.
“Waiting until last minute didn’t do anything good either,” he said. Annabeth ignored him and pulled out a bag, stuffing it with clothes. Percy felt sick watching her. “Annabeth, what are you doing?” he said carefully.
“I’m staying at Piper’s. She has an extra room and I can probably convince her to let me move in with her.”
His heart twisted painfully. “You’re serious about this?” he breathed. He felt like he was going to choke and he tried to force the tears away but they came anyway, brimming his eyes and making his vision blurry. Annabeth stopped packing for a second.
“I’ll stay at hers for a while and if I realize I’m wrong, I’ll come back and we’ll talk. If I still feel that way after a bit of space, then yeah. That’s it,” she said quietly, stuffing the last few articles of clothing into her bag before zipping it up.
“Beth,” he muttered, wiping his eyes and watching helplessly. She turned to him and stepped in front of him, looking up at him. Her eyes were glassy, too. “Don’t go.”
Annabeth exhaled harshly and placed her forehead on his chest. “This isn’t easy for me either, Perce. But I need to,” she said. Percy resisted the urge to wrap his arms around her, pull her close, and never let her go. “Give… give me a week. At Piper’s. And I’ll call you after.”
He swallowed hard. “Okay,” he breathed, clenching his hands into fists by his sides. Annabeth lifted her head and looked at him. Against his better judgment, he whispered, “I love you.”
She bit her lip hard and another tear fell down her cheek. “I love you,” she replied. For a brief second, he’d thought she wasn’t going to say it. Annabeth pressed her hand to his jaw and lifted herself onto her toes, kissing him softly. Percy placed a shaky hand on her waist, doing everything he could to memorize her lips on his.
She pulled back and it took everything in him not to tug her close again. Shouldering her bag, she didn’t look at him as she left. Percy felt stuck in place until he heard the door open and shut before promptly breaking into sobs. He moved to lay in bed before he realized he couldn’t.
He couldn’t lay in a bed that smelled like her, where they’d laid together every night for the past year and a half. He couldn’t sit on the couch where they’d had infinite movie and show marathons together, sharing snacks and throwing popcorn into each other’s mouths. He couldn’t go into the kitchen where they’d tried and failed to cook and bake together, always ending with her sitting on the counter and watching him.
He couldn’t stay here in this apartment where they had created countless memories together. Everywhere he looked, she was there.
Percy wiped his tears and fumbled for his phone in his pocket. He didn’t think twice as he scrolled through his contacts and clicked her name. It rang and rang and finally, she picked up.
“Hello?”
“Hey, mom. Um, can I come over?”
-
Driving with tears in his eyes was harder than expected but Percy managed. Twenty minutes later, he was opening the door to his mother’s apartment. She was waiting for him in the living room. He hadn’t told her what happened because, on the phone, he couldn’t force himself to form the words. The second she saw him, her arms were open and Percy felt like a child again with the way he sat and leaned into her, crying again.
“What happened, love?” she whispered.
Percy replayed the previous hour and it only made him cry more. His mother had always been patient and today was no exception. She waited for him to talk.
“Annabeth and I broke up,” he murmured, hating the way the words tasted in his mouth.
Sally’s hand that had been running through his hair froze momentarily. “What?” she asked. His mom had grown to love Annabeth almost as much as he had.
Percy sat up straight and pressed his palms to his eyes. “Well, maybe not officially. But she said she wants to break up. She’s staying at Piper’s for the week and she said if she realizes she was wrong, we’ll talk and figure it out.”
“Why does she want to break up?” she asked softly. Percy huffed softly.
“She just said something was wrong between us and she’d been trying to figure it out but she couldn’t.”
“Oh, honey,” Sally said gently. “Maybe it’ll work out. Give her the space she needs and I’m sure she’ll come back to you.”
Percy tried his best to believe that Annabeth would come back to him. But it had been so out of the blue and she was so resolute about it, his hopes weren’t too high.
-
The next week was painful. More so than he’d expected and he was constantly wondering if she was in pain, too. Every night, he itched to call her. Just to hear her voice. But he listened to his mother, giving Annabeth the space she asked for.
Percy almost couldn’t bring himself to sleep in their bed. It smelled so much like her and it made his heart twist. But ultimately, each night he crawled into their bed and ended up holding her pillow to his chest.
Seven days had passed since he’d seen her and Percy kept glancing at his phone every two seconds. She’d said if she changed her mind, she’d call. Which, to Percy, meant if she didn’t call, it was over. And he tried very hard to distract himself, but all efforts failed. Memories and thoughts of her crowded his brain and it was all he could think of.
7 pm rolled around and by now, Percy thought she wasn’t going to call. He sat on the couch with his head back and his palms pressed to his eyes. His phone sat on his thigh to feel it vibrate if she called, though his ringer was on too. But his hope was quickly dissipating.
She wasn’t going to call.
He was so wrapped up in his head, Percy almost missed the soft knocking on the door. His heart felt like it was going to jump out of his throat because, of course, his first assumption was that it was Annabeth. But then he remembered she had a key. She wouldn’t knock.
Percy considered ignoring it but they knocked again so he wiped his eyes and stood, trudging to the door. He didn’t bother to fix his appearance before he swung the door open.
She looked just as bad. Her blonde curls were in a very messy bun, her dark circles were more prominent, her cheeks were flushed and her gray eyes were watery.
“Annabeth,” he breathed, his eyebrows furrowing.
“I was wrong,” she whispered. That was all it took for Percy to pull her into the apartment and wrap her in a hug. Her bag hit the floor with a thud as she wound her arms around him tightly. Percy felt her shake with silent sobs.
“I’m sorry,” she said into the crook of his neck. “I should’ve stayed and we should’ve talked and I’m so sorry.”
“I got you,” he whispered. “You’re here now and I got you.”
They still had a lot to talk about and he knew that. But the heaviness in his chest evaporated instantly and for a moment, this was all he cared about. Annabeth clung to him as he carefully locked the door. He pulled back enough to cup her face in his hands.
“I’m sorry,” she repeated softly. Percy wiped her tears away with his thumbs.
“I know,” he whispered. “We’ll figure everything out.”
Annabeth nodded. “I love you so much,” she breathed. Percy’s heart twisted and for the first time a week, it wasn’t from pain.

May I request number 36 from the fluff prompt list with blupjeans?
“Hello… Barry, was it?”
He jumps, and turns quickly to face the… face, of the voice. “Hi, Lup.”
Lup smiles, wicked and gleeful. “Oh look at that, he remembers me.” Her smile is punctuated with two razor sharp canines, and her eyes are blood red.
“How could I forget?” he asks, hoping she can’t tell how nervous he is. But judging by his sweaty palms and rapidly beating heart, it’s probably obvious. He didn’t expect to see her back… ever.
Lup doesn’t move from her position, which is in the skylight of Barry’s room. She sits with legs crossed at the ankle on one end, and her hand on the other hand props her up as she leans to look down at him. At his desk, Barry feels like a specimen under a microscope being inspected by a particularly attractive vampiric scientist.
Lup doesn’t speak either, preferring to run a sharp nail through her curly brown hair. Barry questions that for about half a second before he remembers his manners. “Uh, come in. Please.”
She smiles again, swinging her legs over the edge. “Thanks for the invite.” In a flash, she jumps and manages to avoid Barry, landing in a crouch on the floor next to him.
She stands to her full height, taller than Barry, and peers around his room. It’s plain and a bit messy, but she looks intrigued all the same. “Nice place you got here.”
“Um, thanks,” Barry says. He stands as well, unsure of what else to do. A real life vampire is walking around his bedroom, heels clicking against the floor and black silk dress trailing after her steps.
She suddenly cocks her head to face him and he keeps himself from jumping. Barely. She says, “I’ll be honest, I didn’t come to borrow a cup of sugar.”
“Then, uh, why are you here? Uh, not that, you know, I don’t appreciate it,” Barry says. He definitely doesn’t want to accidentally offend a woman that can drain him like a capri-sun.
“We can pretend you aren’t scared of me, that’s fine,” she says, “I’ll just… ignore your heartbeat, I guess.
“I’m here for a… request. Do you remember what I said to you the night we met?”
“That you, um… that you haven’t been on a first date in a while?”
She grins, sly and slinking around him like a cat. “No, the part about how hard it is to get a bite to eat. Or… drink, should I say. Blood banks are harder to break into than you’d think.”
He doesn’t move as she circles him, but he doesn’t take his eyes off her. “I remember that.”
“And do you remember what happened next?”
“I, um, I offered some of my, uh, blood.”
She rounds behind him and stops just in his view. She grins, “That you did.”
Barry resists the urge to scratch at the bandaid on his neck. “Is that why you’re back? For more?”
“If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, yes,” Lup says, and she looks less catlike in this moment. Less gothic grandeur, more like a person.
She continues, smile softer. “I’ve been trying to find a regular source of income, so to speak. And I’ve thought about finding other people, people who are more used to this.” She gestures to herself. “But… I couldn’t get you out of my mind. Your blood is just…” She does a chef’s kiss.
Barry’s mouth goes dry. “Oh?” is all he manages to say, because what the fuck do you say to a hot vampire lady who says she’s been thinking about you nonstop?
“Oh,” Lup says, nodding sagely. “So… are you cool with that?” she asks, stepping closer to him.
“With feeding you?” he asks. She nods again. “Uh. Sure? How bad can it be, right?”
She smiles, and it’s the most sincere one all night. “Thank you. And I promise, I’ll keep this between us so you don’t get hurt. I won’t even tell my brother.”
“You have a brother?” he asks, because that is what his brain has chosen to latch onto in this conversation.
She nods, but she also places her hands on his shoulders. “You busy right now?”
He shakes his head. She smiles and drags a nail down his neck to his collar, pulling it away from his neck. “This okay?”
Barry thinks it’s very sweet that she’s being so considerate, but he has more pressing issues, so he doesn’t comment. Pressing issues like the woman asking to suck blood out of his neck. He nods, but she doesn’t move. In fact, she backs up and lets go of his shirt.
“Try and calm down. It’ll be easier if you’re not so stressed.” Her hands move down his shoulders to his arms. “Here,” she says, and she puts her hands over his and guides them to her hips. “You can push me away if you get uncomfortable. I don’t wanna do this if you’re not down for it.”
Barry swallows, hands rigid and frozen. “Um. Okay.”
“Deep breaths,” she instructs, pulling his collar away and leaning into his neck.
He takes a few deep breaths, trying to focus on that rather than everything else. Luckily he doesn’t even feel her teeth puncture skin until he feels a venom running through his veins, forcibly relaxing him and calming him down with much more success than breathing exercises.
His hands on her hips relax and her hands on his shoulders turn into arms draped around his neck in a sort of embrace. One hand finds his hair and her nails light scratch at his scalp. They’re pressed against each other, and he can pretend they’re almost waltzing now. With the way his body wants to lose balance, they might as well be.
She pulls her fangs out and starts to suck at the wounds. Barry barely feels it, eyes slipping closed. He could fall asleep right now. He doesn’t know how much time has passed before she’s pulling away.
“Thanks,” she says with a smile, and her canines are twice as long as they were before. Her lips are stained and red, and it takes Barry a second to conclude that it’s his blood.
“Uh, no prob…lem,” he says, swaying more now that she isn’t hugging him.
Lup’s hands move to hold his elbows, keeping him upright. “I think the venom might’ve been a bit much. Sorry, babe.”
“‘S no big deal,” he says. Now that it’s over he’s suddenly more aware of what’s happening. He braces himself with a hand on the desk, his other still on her hip.
“I think it is, here.” She takes his hands in hers and helps him to sit on his bed.
“You should get some sleep,” she says, already pulling his glasses off for him and leaving them on his nightstand.
He lets himself fall back and as soon as his head hits the pillow he’s suddenly very, very tired. Lup silently helps him under the covers, and sits next to him on his bed.
“I’ll come by sometime tomorrow and get your number. That way I won’t have to follow you home again.”
“Okay,” Barry mumbles. He feels like that information should be concerning, but he’s too tired to care right now. It’s future Barry’s problem.
“Thanks again for this,” Lup says, sounding much more real than her grand persona from earlier. But Barry can’t appreciate it too much, as he’s already falling asleep.
Just as he’s losing consciousness he feels a kiss on his forehead, but it might have been a dream.

Wasted Love (part 2) [T.S.]
Tumblr media
A/N: Wow look at me post part two soon after I started the series! Now I need to hurry up and write the third part but that’s a tomorrow problem. Thank you to everyone who told me what they thought of the start of the series, it really means the world and I hope you’ll like this part too <3
Word count: 2445
Warnings: an abusive boyfriend
.
“Hello you,” Tyler grinned as he fist bumped her as a greeting. It was hard to do anything else over her desk, and it was now a habit between her and all the guys on the team. “How’s your day going?”
“It’s been good,” Alessia smiled back effortlessly, leaning back into her chair to rest her back for a minute. “How was practice?”
“Pretty fun, we’re all going out for dinner tonight with a few other people, if you want to join,” He threw it out there because it was a work thing and he had never seen her out with everyone before. Alessia only ever joined when everyone was getting lunch somewhere together. Most of the people she worked with were older than her, and predominantly men too. Tyler knew it might be hard for her to be included in plans.
“Oh, thanks, but um, I’ve got to be home with my boyfriend tonight,” She said it with a little sigh, and that prompted Tyler to poke a little bit further.
“Is everything okay at home?” He leaned against the wall with a slight frown. Ever since he had met Alessia he had felt protective of her. She was one of the youngest people working for the team, and she was slowly discovering the industry. He didn’t doubt that she had the skills to do amazing, or she would never have gotten hired, but he liked to keep an eye on her to make sure she was fine.
“We had a little fight, nothing to worry about,” She admitted with a shrug. “I had plans with friends and he got a little annoyed that I haven’t been spending enough time with him, and them my friends got pissed that I cancelled so… yeah, it’ll blow over in a day or two,”
“That sucks, I’m sorry,” He didn’t know what to tell her, she would clearly annoy either her friends or boyfriend no matter what she did now. “You guys been living together long?”
“Almost six months, yeah,” Alessia nodded. “It’s nice, plus rent is so much cheaper divided by two,” She chuckled and Tyler faked a little laugh too.
“Fair enough. I’ve gotta run, but I’ll see you tomorrow?” He stopped himself from mentioning how fucked up that sounded.
Sure, regular people had to worry about money a little more than he did, but he was still sure mentioning saving money to describe how great it was to live with a boyfriend was messed up. He had expected her to say she was happy to see him more often, to come home to him every night, to wake up to him in the morning.
“Of course,” Alessia cut him off from his thoughts, and Tyler pushed himself off the wall.
“Good luck tonight, I hope things settle down at home,” He said it sincerely, but a little voice in the back of his mind nagged him. He didn’t hope things would settle down. He hoped she would break up with the guy that clearly wasn’t giving her the happiness she deserved.
“Thanks Ty,” She waved as he left, and he gave her one last smile before he was out of sight.
.
The fact that Jordan didn’t like it when she spent a night with her friends didn’t sit well with Tyler. It bothered him the first time she told him, but after a couple of weeks he noticed a pattern. Whenever Alessia had plans with a friend it had to be lunch, if it was at night the plans would either get cancelled or she’d show up in a bad mood the next day because she argued with her boyfriend.
Their relationship was obviously fucked up, and Tyler didn’t feel like sitting around and letting her be sad. Surely her boyfriend wouldn’t be able to say anything if she stayed out at night for a work event, so he invited her for drinks with the team and a few other people in admin and services that they got along with.
“Be careful Tyler,” Jamie shook his head disapprovingly as they got changed for their morning skate. “She’s taken,”
“I know that,” The other man grumbled. “We let everyone else we like come along, she’s cool, why wouldn’t I invite her?”
“Because you obviously like her, and she’s got a boyfriend,” Jamie was far from stupid and he knew his friend all too well.
“I’m not trying to make a move, the guy’s an asshole though,” Tyler laced up his skates, huffing as he pulled them on tightly.
“Sounds like someone’s jealous.” The bearded man used a teasing tone as he finished adjusting his own gear.
“I’m not,” Was he?
“Just don’t get into something messy, okay? She’s also just twenty two,” Jamie added. The whole scenario screamed recipe for disaster and he didn’t want to see what would go down if Tyler actually let himself fall for her.
“Way to make me feel old Jamie, thanks for that,” Tyler patted his friend’s shoulder and headed out of the locker room, ready to clear his mind on the ice for a while.
.
The bar was relatively quiet that night if you made an abstraction of the team of giants in green taking up most of the space. Alessia was sitting at the bar on one of the far ends, her hair falling in front of her face to hide herself.
“Is that apple juice?” Tyler slid into the seat next to hers with his own drink, lifting her curtain of hair and pushing it behind her shoulder.
“Yeah, work in the morning, remember?” She smiled, and he couldn’t help but notice how cute she was when the side of her eyes crinkled like that.
“I’ve got practice in the morning too, it’s one drink, won’t kill me,”
“I’m half your size with no muscles, my alcohol tolerance is low,” she chuckled when she saw the whiskey in his hand. One of those was enough to give her a headache. “Besides I’m driving, and I don’t want to see Jordan’s face if I come home after drinking at a work thing,”
“So what? He doesn’t like it when you hang out with your friends, he doesn’t like it when you drink, so you’re just not gonna do anything you want to do?” Tyler cocked his head to the side, pointing out everything he didn’t like about the guy while she shrugged.
“I don’t want to drink, and it’s not stupid of him to say, it’s Tuesday night. It’d be different on a weekend,” Alessia defended him and made it all sound like her own decision, but he was far from stupid.
“Fair enough,” Tyler cleared his throat to move on to something a bit more cheerful. Just hearing the name Jordan got on his nerves and he wanted the night to be fun. “Hey look! Jamie needs someone on his team,” He pointed over to the three men around the pool table. “Do you know how to play?”
“Absolutely not,” she curled further into her seat and a wide grin spread over Tyler’s face.
“Time to learn then!” He put a hand on her arm and gently tugged her up after him.
The guys were generally competitive, but considering that it was her first game they used it to teach her rather than try to win. Jamie and her took turns with Tyler coaching her from the side and showing her how to place her hands or telling her what angle she’d need to hit the ball at.
“Here,” He chuckled, standing close behind Alessia and gently grasping her wrist to adjust her.
He ignored the warning look he received from Jamie and went on with his instructions before stepping back, letting her do the rest on her own.
“Dude, you call her Allie?” Jamie groaned when Alessia was gone. “I’ve seen you like this before and you’re so fucked. You can’t have her,”
“It’s not like that!” He tried to defend himself but his friend didn’t buy it. “Fine, maybe I like her, but we’re just friends. I’m not doing anything,”
“Just don’t be stupid, okay?” The older man warned him again but he dismissed it as he had done every other time.
“It’s a nickname Jamie, not a proposal.”
.
The more Alessia went out for drinks at the end of the night the more she got along with the guys on the team. She didn’t talk to all of them, but Tyler, Jamie and their closer friends were now also her friends. It was refreshing to have a group of people close to her outside of home, and she loved to spend her evenings with them before she came home.
The lack of time she spent home translated into hurtful comments and reactions from Jordan almost daily. It was exhausting, but Tyler was always there to lift her mood in the morning so she found it all worth it. She blamed it on Jordan’s job being stressful at the moment, and on most nights they made up rather quickly with a little bit of effort on her part.
“I’ve just got a couple of emails to reply to,” Alessia opened her laptop on thursday night and Jordan huffed.
“Well maybe you wouldn’t need to do that at night if you weren’t always out with those people having drinks.” He stood in front of her across the table, arms crossed over his chest.
“I never even drink,” She defended herself, typing her reply while trying to ignore Jordan’s grumbles in the background. “It’s good for my career if I have contacts,”
“Enjoy your career then, just go take care of that and forget I exist,” he walked around to stand next to her and Alessia turned to him.
“Jordan I’m not-” she started but got cut off immediately.
“Are you sleeping with one of them? Uh? Is that how you’re building your career? Fucking some rich asshole behind my back?” His voice rose and her eyes widened.
“Of course not!” She insisted, flinching when he yelled.
“I’m always here taking care of you!” He stomped forward and Alessia felt her hands shake. “And yet you’re never here when I come home!”
“I’m sorry, Jordan, please,” she said quietly, trying her best to calm him down.
Jordan only shook his head at her, turning on his heels with her trailing close behind. She wanted to fix things, the emails could wait until morning. He didn’t seem to be in the same mindset as he got to the bedroom and turned around with a glare.
“You can stay out here until you’ve sorted out your priorities.” He slammed the bedroom door, missing her face by a few inches and turning the lock.
Alessia remained still behind it, in shock for a full minute.
Knowing he wouldn’t calm down too fast, she went back to her work and quickly did everything she needed to catch up on. She hoped he had settled down as she walked over to the bedroom with a yawn and tried for the door. It was still locked, so she knocked on it softly.
No answer came from the other side. She could hear him moving in bed, but he didn’t even care enough to get up.
Alessia held back her tears and went back to the couch, eyeing the laundry drying on the rack in a corner of the living room. At least she should still be able to throw a decent work outfit together in the morning. The same couldn’t be said for pajamas, there were no casual clothes drying and Jordan didn’t like it when she wore his stuff.
It was too cold to sleep without clothes on, especially with a small throw blanket rather than the comfy thick duvet that she normally had in bed. So, Alessia found herself with her legs bare and a slightly scratchy sweater on her upper body to stay warm as she curled up on the couch.
.
When she made it to the office in the morning she felt like crying. She had barely slept, she was exhausted both mentally and physically and she was already dreading the night ahead of her.
“What do you need?” She nearly growled when Tyler strolled into her office without a knock.
“Uh, never mind,” he swallowed and took a small step back.
“Okay?” Alessia looked up from her screen with an eyebrow raised, waiting on his next move. Did he need her or was he just standing there for no reason?
“I don’t really want to make you work right now, I don’t mean to be rude, but you look like shit,” Tyler unfroze a few seconds later and pulled a chair out to sit across from her.
“Thanks Ty,” A dry chuckle fell from her lips, and she rubbed her hands over her face. “I’m kinda sleep deprived,”
“What happened?” He stopped himself from reaching over to move her hair away from her face.
“It’s not that big of a deal,” Alessia sighed. “Jordan and I were arguing over something dumb, I spent the night on the couch and it’s ridiculously uncomfortable,”
“It’s not dumb if you didn’t even want to go back to bed,” Tyler gently pryed a little further.
“More like he didn’t want me in there,” she rolled her eyes, leaning back in her chair and fiddling with a pencil. She was staring at her hands rather than at him because she could already guess what he was about to say.
“I know it’s none of my business,” Tyler said it slowly so that he could think over his words. “But you’re my friend, and your relationship sounds really fucked up,”
“I swear it’s not as bad as it sounds, besides it’s just one night,” Alessia argued weakly, she always tried to defend him, she always had an excuse.
“You’re old enough to make your own decisions,” He shrugged. Tyler was good at hiding how furious he was, it wasn’t directed towards her so she didn’t need to see it. “But it he was mad enough to refuse to sleep next to you, he should have been the one taking the couch,”
“He’s not a bad person,” Alessia looked up then, but her words weren’t convincing.
“You know him better than I do, I guess,” Tyler let out a long sigh. He didn’t know what else to say to her, and he was afraid that pushing her would stop her from confiding in him in the future. “Call me if that happens again, okay? I live fifteen minutes away, I’ve got three empty guest rooms, and I’m sure they’re more comfortable than your couch.”

Here’s my English translation of Mahiru’s Voice Drama - Love is Mine I couldn’t find an English translation from anyone else, so I did it myself. I’m not super good at japanese, but I think I got the important things down. Feel free to use/post this translation wherever you like.
Mahiru: (humming)
  (distant footsteps)
Mahiru: Prison guard is almost here~
Es: (footsteps) (door opens) (door shuts) Sorry to keep you waiting, Prisoner Number 6, Mahiru.
Mahiru: Ah! It’s like-
Es: Huh?
Mahiru: (giggles) It’s sort of like a date- It’s making my heart beat fast… it’s sort of thrilling!
Es: I heard Yuno say something similar, female prisoners seem to say things like that.
Mahiru: Eh? It’s super romantic, right? Thanks to you, I’m having fun every day.
Es: (sigh) It is interesting here…
Mahiru: Ah! So you agree~!
Es: Understand the situation, Mahiru. You’re in here because you’ve committed a murder, not so you can play.
Mahiru: Murder… Yeah, I don’t really understand how what I did was murder.
Es: We’re going to do an interrogation to uncover your sin, starting from now. The situation is far from being romantic.
Mahiru: Sorry, sorry… I get it.
Es: MILGRAM exists to reveal the sins of the prisoners, and make a moral decision. For that reason, let’s talk about some things.
Mahiru: Lets talk~! I get to spend time with the Prison Guard, I’m so happy!
Es: It’s no use trying to slow down my pace like that. (muttering) You prisoners are always like this…
Mahiru: What were you just talking about?
Es: It was nothing! …Let’s start the interrogation. That’s right… M-
Mahiru: Yes! I’m Mahiru Shiina, 22 years old~! Thanks for coming here to meet me!
Es: I’m the one leading this interrogation! (muttering) What is this pattern?! It’s the same as with Yuno… It’s fine… I need to calm down.
Mahiru: Okay! What about you?
Es: Huh?
Mahiru: Your name and age?
Es: …
Mahiru: Your name is…? Your age is…?
Es: Es…. I’m around 15…
Mahiru: (clasps hands) Fifteen years old! That’s young for a prison guard, isn’t it? At my age, I’m like your big sister! Come on, tell me anything!
Es: Oi… Mahiru, why am I-
Mahiru: Hey, hey what kind of name is “Es”? It doesn’t sound Japanese - where is it from?
Es: … I don’t know. It doesn’t matter. I am Es, other than that I don’t know anything. I don’t have any memories.
Mahiru: You have amnesia!? You poor thing…! You actually have it?
Es: I don’t see why you care. I don’t worry about it, it lets me concentrate on my work without having any extra thoughts or memories to distract me.
Mahiru: That’s so interesting, Prison guard! Let’s get to know your personality!
Es: My… personality? I’m…
(high pitched ringing)
Mahiru: Prison guard, what’s wrong?
Es: Uh, excuse me.
Mahiru: Are you feeling okay? That was too tough of a question, wasn’t it? Herbal tea is good for remembering- green tea especially- It activates the brain.
Es: Oh, I see… Lets try that… No! I don’t give a damn about myself right now!
Mahiru: (disappointed hum) That’s no fun.
Es: Why were you even asking me these questions?
Mahiru: But… But Prison Guard… I just wanted to have some mutual understanding. You want to know about me, so I want to know about you!
Es: Well, I suppose that’s alright.
Mahiru: Yay! In this situation, I think the first step is to understand each other. There’s a lot I want to talk about so I can know you well… Es: Hm… Does an approach like that really work?
Mahiru: Yes! If you have the courage to lay yourself bare, the other person will be able to talk to you with peace of mind. Es: Self-disclosure reciprocity… But this only works if you already have knowledge of yourself. Mahiru: Eh? Self-disclosure reciprocity..? Es: I’m gathering information so I can get to know you better. It was in this book I read. Mahiru: Haah? Prison guard reads too? “Love-Talk of 1000 Girls in Kanto” is good too! Es: …What’s that? Mahiru: Eh? You haven’t read it? It’s all about how to make love special!
Es: Make love?!
Mahiru: Uh-huh, make love! It has features on fashion, trends, and fortune-telling - things that will help you find love! It helped me to become a stronger, brighter me!
Es: (sigh) I think I misunderstood. Please forget what I said.
Mahiru: Oh, so that’s how it is! Prison guard must be interested in romance~! 15 years old is the height of puberty, after all. Is there anyone you like?
Es: I’m not very interested in that kind of thing.
Mahiru: Eh? No, no. It’s not good to say you dislike love, right? Love is like a little explosion, it’s just that you’re a little late. Even if you aren’t interested now, it’ll explode some day! Someday you’ll have a fateful encounter..!
Es: You sure speak of it well.
Mahiru: At first, you’ll deny it. I do the same, but then I feel like a girl in a shoujo manga - it’s like being in some different world~!
Es: I’m not sure… Is love really that important?
Mahiru: It’s important.
Es: (small sigh)
Mahiru: It’s important. Above all else.
Es: I see. That’s yours, prisoner number 6, Mahiru.
Mahiru: Eh? What is?
Es: Somehow, as I’ve interrogated people they’ve shown me something. What they cherish.
Mahiru: Love is something very important to me (giggles) It’s not like I was hiding it!
Es: Could it be, that your murder was derived from it?
Mahiru: (silence) It seems so… I think it was love.
Es: It looks like your love ended in death.
Mahiru: It… seems so.
Es: I see. A song produced from a murderous love affair… It’s not an unusual story.
Mahiru: No, it’s not like that. I didn’t want to kill anyone. I just- It just happened.
Es: What do you mean?
Mahiru: I won’t say. I don’t know enough about Prison Guard yet!
Es: So there has to be a mutual understanding, huh?
Mahiru: (giggles) Yeah, that sort of thing!
Es: This sure is troublesome. Oh well, do you think what you did can be forgiven, or not?
Mahiru: There’d be no point in living if I can’t be forgiven for what I’ve done. (laughs)
Es: So you could be fine living after you’ve committed a murder? You sound like a dangerous person.
Mahiru: Ah-! No, what I meant was… it’s suddenly gotten all messy… I just don’t want to kill people at all! …but… I decided to live for love.
Es: For love…
Mahiru: I know the wonderful feeling of loving someone- it’s amazing! Every day is shining and colorful! The normal scenery changes to something out of a drama or a movie!
Es: I’m not following.
Mahiru: Ehm… I don’t have a huge vocabulary, so I can’t really explain it well… But you’ll understand one day, I’m sure!
Es: I wonder…
Mahiru: Without love, my life would be dull and tasteless, so if you say love’s no good, then there’s no point in living.
Es: But your love kills people.
Mahiru: You’re so mean…
Es: Your love killed a person, but would you love someone again?
Mahiru: I want you to tell me… Is what I did unforgivable?
Es: What?
Mahiru: I wonder if I should still love someone, even if it would end up killing them.
Es: (silence)
Mahiru: Hey, Prison guard, tell me! Is it unforgivable for me to love someone?
Es: I don’t know. What you’re saying now sounds a bit different than what you were saying before.
Mahiru: Is that so… I suppose that’s true… I’m feeling strange… I don’t know…
Es: Not yet…
Mahiru: Eh?
Es: I just don’t know yet. I don’t make these decisions immediately, you have to wait.
Mahiru: (sad/surprised noise)
Es: To be honest, this is one of my weak points. That’s why, as you said, I should get to know you better.
Mahiru: Prison guard…
Es: I am your Prison Guard. I don’t make decisions on a whim because I’m not sure if you’re forgivable. I’m here to judge you, and decide whether or not to forgive you of your sins.
Mahiru: (confused noise) (excited noise) So you’ll keep watching me?
Es: Yes, that’s my job.
Mahiru: (squeals) (gets out of chair)
Es: What are you-
Mahiru: What happened..?
Es: What are you talking about?
Mahiru: You’re enthusiastic about work… I love that!
Es: Stop fooling around.
Mahiru: (panting) That’s no good, (haah), be careful! Um.. Um.. If you’re too kind to me, (leans in) you might die! Okay?
Es: I’m not trying to be kind. I don’t understand how you got that from what I said before. I can only promise you this: Rest assured, I won’t die no matter what you do.
Mahiru: (gasp)
Es: Because I’m… The Prison Guard of MILGRAM.
Mahiru: (yells) (gets up and starts to run)
(bell starts to chime, stone grinding)
Mahiru: Wh- What? Did my voice trigger a collapse?!
Es: No. It seems like the time is up on this little game. What a pain… I have no choice but to end this as usual. You all…
Mahiru: Um… Um… I’m a little nervous about singing… I’m not very good at it…
Es: You won’t be singing. Your mental landscape will appear as a song and video without any conscious input from you. Mahiru: Oh, it’ll be visible then… That’s a little ridiculous… Es: I suppose so. The intensity of the video is different for every person… It all depends on how you perceive your sins.
Mahiru: Ah…
Es: Either way, I’ll be able to see how you see the world.
Mahiru: I see, I see! It’ll be unique to me, because the world of love was so beautiful to me. Oh! Prison guard, you’ll be able to understand the amazingness of love through me!
Es: I’ll hear it, too.
Mahiru: Huh? That too?
Es: It’ll be good knowing something that you don’t. It’s necessary for me to acquire various knowledge to get to know you. That’s not bad, either.
Mahiru: (gasp) I… love how hardworking you are…
Es: Shut up!
Mahiru: It was just a little flirting…
Es: (sigh) After we’ve talked, I don’t feel as though I’ve been working very hard…
Es: Do you have anything left to ask?
Mahiru: Eh… Um… Just one!
Es: What? You still have more?
Mahiru: Um… can I call you “Es-kun?”
Es: NO COMMENT (turns around and leaves)
Es: (sighs) Prisoner number 6, Mahiru. Alright then, show me your sin.

Could you write a Sobbe post Sinterklaas, pre shower scene? I feel like there are some cute moments between those scenes that we missed: them ordering room service, talking about the Sint costume, but also both being nervous and excited at the prospect of a night alone together; trying, and failing, to keep their hands to themselves while they eat and talk, testing the waters before finally going all in in the shower? I imagine the mutual neediness combined with nerves being adorable and sweet.
After spending a few hours turning his bedroom into a somewhat romantic date for Noor, and after knowing Sander for a little longer, Robbe knows this tone, the way he looks at Robbe before holding his hand and dragging him upstairs.
His intentions are not exactly a surprise either giving their last few encounters, when they had time and privacy working in their favor all at once. Robbe is anxious for tonight. He wants this so badly that his insecurities are just second thoughts as they get inside the huge suite, and Sander lets go of his hand, taking his wig and fake beard off, finally.
Robbe closes the door behind him and leans against it, feeling warmer instantly even though he's almost sure the temperature here is the same as in the hallway. He can’t imagine how much a night here costs but he’ll let himself enjoy it because he’s finally with Sander, and Sander is happy and single and they’ll have as many hours as they want, to do whatever they feel like doing.
Maybe it’s the peachy color on the wallpaper that’s making him so hot inside. Or it’s the way that Sander finally looks at him, smiling softly while trying to fix his hair after being squished against the itchy wig for God knows how long.
“Are you glued to the door?” He asks and Robbe shakes his head, feeling stupid for a second, hoping his legs won’t give up on him as he walks to Sander and his stupid clothes, holding the long red cape, pulling Sander closer, brushing their lips together, smiling when they both open their mouths a little bit instinctively.
Robbe kisses Sander like he’s never done it before, like they’re at that beach trip still and Robbe finally has the courage to jump Sander and kiss him until their lips get sore.
It took him so long to feel like this that he wants to enjoy every time he can.
Sander smiles against his lips as Robbe tries to get rid of his clothes without breaking the kiss too much, managing to push the first coat down Sander’s shoulders when he hits something, looking over his shoulder to see where they are.
“We need to eat first.”
“Huh?” Robbe asks, confused as to why they have to have a step-by-step of tonight. Sander smiles, brushing Robbe’s hair out of his forehead.
“There’s no rush, cutie.”
Robbe whines because there is all the rush in the word. It’s a whole night, sure, but it’s still just one night and he’s afraid he’ll be too tense to enjoy once he’s finally used to the feelings...
He’s already embarrassed enough for how quickly things ended that night at his bedroom. Sander kissed him for so long after climbing back up, and his eyes were so shiny and happy that Robbe didn’t feel too guilty about it in the moment but he knows it was way too fast. Thank god for stamina.
“I’m not really hungry...” Robbe whispers, following Sander to pull him close again and it’s Sander’s turn to kiss him eagerly, holding Robbe by the side of his neck, scratching the back lightly, his other hand making Robbe drops his backpack on the floor, kicking his sneakers out of his feet.
He falls on the soft mattress suddenly and Sander sits on his lap, his weight feeling so good on top of Robbe even though it’s not the most comfortable with the amount of layers of clothes Sander is still using. The first red one is too long and Sander is stuck, laughing, not able to actually sit.
“Fuck!” He gets up, and Robbe whines but lets him stand up in between his leg, pulling the fabric over his head, throwing it on the chair next to the bed. Sander is right there, standing shirtless in front of him but Robbe doesn’t do what he wants to do, bitting the inside of his cheek, feeling his whole face burn in embarrassed with the realization of how awkward and unexperienced he is.
Sander walks away and Robbe lies down, sighing, watching as Sander looks at the table, clearly searching for something.
“Here!” He grabs the piece of paper and rushes back to bed, sitting so close to Robbe, putting one leg over his, “What do you wanna eat?”
You.
“A burguer.”
“Just a burguer?” Sander lifts his eyebrows.
No, you too.
“And some chips, maybe, something to drink too.” Sander smiles, nodding his head eargerly while lying back, stretching his whole naked torso to reach the phone on the nightstand, calling the reception.
“Some fancy champagne, yeah.”
Robbe wants to touch and kiss him so badly, and he doesn't hold himself back this time, his hand carefully touching Sander’s navel, kissing his ribs while he rolls to lie on top of him, kissing and touching his chest.
“Robbe.” Sander sighs and he looks up, smiling because Sander has his eyes closed, wetting his lips with his tongue.
“What?”
He doesn’t reply to Robbe because someone is on the line, and he stutters to say what they want for room service. He didn’t choose his order prior so he closes his eyes again, mumbling that he wants the biggest burger they can make him and he hangs up right after, pulling Robbe up for another heated kiss.
When someone knocks on their door, they’re in bed, wearing only their boxers that are painfully tight.
“I’ll get it.” Robbe tries to hold him but Sander is out of reach already, adjusting his underwear as he walks to the door. Robbe can see the skin on his boyfriend’s shoulders turning red, lines starting to show, and the back of his hair all messy from Robbe’s fingers.
He pulls the pillow to cover his face, almost screaming against it.
“Come, baby, dinner is ready!” Robbe hears Sander’s giggly voice, his steps from the door to the table, putting everything in place. Robbe hugs the pillow and watches as Sander keeps a soft smile on his lips, touching the pockets outside his bag to find something, pulling a lighter and a fat joint out too, leaving it between his puffy lips.
He sits on one of the chairs with his legs open, so focused on opening the fancy champagne he ordered, frowning his brows, pressing the joint tighter between his lips.
The loud pop echoes around the room and Robbe finally sits up, rolling his eyes as Sander fills both the glasses, watching his every move now that Robbe is done with his bad mood, standing up.
Part of Sander’s costume is still resting on the back of the armchair and Robbe reaches for it, finding a way to wrap it around his waist, pulling his underwear from under the red, silky fabric, leaving his boxers on the bed before sitting right in front of Sander, happy that he’s still looking, the drinks and food completely forgotten on the table. Now he knows how it feels, at least.
“I think you said we needed to eat first...” Robbe says, actually feeling hungry now that he can smell the burgers. He needs to eat before drinking. His nerves will surely make any alcohol go straight to his already anxious brain.
Sander moves after a minute, pulling his chair closer to the table, putting his joint on the ashtray, drinking half of his glass before even touching his food.
Robbe selfishly wants him to be nervous too, for this to feel special in any type or way. Even if he already did this probably countless times. Robbe stares every time Sander is not looking, until they’re both done with the burgers, snacking on the last few fries, now almost having a staring contest. Robbe pours more champagne for both of them and steals Sander’s joint, thinking it’ll help calm his nerves a little bit.
Sander coughs without needing to, sitting up straight, watching Robbe smoke.
“I need a shower.” He says out of nowhere, and Robbe smiles, putting the joint back where he found it.
“You do?”
Sander nods his head, getting up and finishing his champagne again, “A cold shower would be nice.”
“No.” Robbe whines, getting up while holding the red fabric around his waist, afraid to be completely naked in front of Sander. They’ve been naked in front of each other but not like this. So aware of it, at the same time, without doing anything.
“I-I like warm showers...”
Sander doesn’t laugh like Robbe thought he would, but he offers his hand and Robbe holds it and he leads them to the bathroom. They get rid of Sander’s underwear while Robbe leans against the bathtub, trying to not overthink it yet again, hoping Sander can’t feel his heartbeats.
When Sander is almost within arm's reach, Robbe’s hand doesn’t find his neck to pull him even closer, he can only watch as Sander gets on his knees.

You were seated out on your patio opposite your mom and dad enjoying the nice weather, your tanned skin practically glistening in the sun rays “so Y/N, is Rafe going to be escorting you to Midsummers?” Your father asked, you groaned at the idea of even having to go there mostly at the part about Rafe being your escort “do I have to go” you frowned playing with the salad blades that lay untouched on the plate before you “we’ve already talked about this Y/N you’re going” he replied sternly, annoyance evident in his tone. Most of the time you could talk your way out of almost every single one of these events but since Ward was your fathers best friend and the event was practically being held in his honor you had to go otherwise it would ‘reflect badly on your father’s image’.
You and Rafe had been an on and off thing for about a year now, maybe even longer since it was hard to keep count of all the breakups, currently you guys were on another off stage after you’d found him and another girl going at it in his bedroom when you had planned to surprise him on his birthday but instead ended up crying yourself to sleep in Sarah’s room who held you as you sobbed and being the loyal friend she is she ended barging into her brothers room to yell at him as soon as you fell asleep.
You and Sarah were the same age and had been best friends long before you and Rafe got together, considering your fathers were close friends you spent almost everyday over at the Camerons when you were younger and now you two were glued at the hip, you didn’t know what you’d do without her since you’d done everything and anything together since the age of 3.
“Yeah well I don’t think Rafe’s gonna be my escort, we broke up” you stated blatantly, crossing your arms over your chest as you looked back up at your displeased father “come on Y/N can’t you fix it just for that night and then you never talk to him again I don’t care but it’ll look really bad for me if my daughter ditches my best friends son at an event that’s being held in his honor” you looked over at your mom hoping she would back you up since there was no way you were going to get out of this without her help, but instead she just sat there pretending not to notice your lingering glare.
“Fine i’ll fix it” you mumbled knowing that there was no point in arguing with your father “thank you sweetie” he smiled “whatever” you rolled your eyes pushing the chair out from behind you and making your way back inside and up to your room. Closing the door behind you, you sat down at the edge of your bed dreading dialing Rafe’s phone number since you really didn’t want to be the one crawling back after he cheated, you had some respect for yourself.
It’s for dad you thought as you pressed call on his contact your back colliding with your mattress as you felt your heart sink more and more with every ring. Just as you were about to hang up he answered “hey baby” the nickname made you sick to your stomach, did he have no recollection of your break up “can we talk?” you asked getting annoyed as you heard nothing but silence on the other end of the phone.
“Yeah uh i’ll be home in like ten minutes want me to pick you up or something?” he asked, it was obvious in the way he spoke that he had no interest in going out of his way to come get you, you rolled your eyes “no Rafe i’m perfectly capable of getting myself to your house by myself thank you very much” you spoke before hanging up groaning as you went and got dressed pulling a black hoodie over the white crop top you’d been wearing and struggling to get into your converse attempting to squeeze your heel into them as you trudged down the spiral staircase in your house.
You grabbed the keys to one of your dad’s cars, opening the front door you slammed it shut behind you making your anger evident to your mom and dad.
Walking out into the cool summer air you quickly unlocked the car and pulled the handle, opening the door and placing your self down into the drivers seat. You turned the engine on dreading the soon to be conversation with your ex boyfriend as you slowly backed out of your driveway and out onto the main road.
As you stood outside of the Cameron house you contemplated driving away and never looking back but knowing you’d have to face the wrath of your father if you did that was enough to make your knuckle connect with the door and slowly but surely tap onto it, seconds later Rafe’s deranged figure stood before you moving out of the way allowing you to walk in, you put on a fake smile as you followed him up to his room.
It was silent between the two of you when he closed the door behind him neither one of you knowing what to say as you both stood facing each other “Y/N i’m really sorry for what happened the other day I-I was drunk” he stumbled over his words the lie evident as sweat started to form at the top of his forehead “I don’t care, I don’t want to get back together” he looked puzzled at your words “then why are you here?” he questioned sitting down onto the bed that was placed in the middle of the room.
“We’re going to go to Midsummers together and then we’re over and you’ll never hear from me again” he simply sat there not giving you any reaction whatsoever, so you turned to walk out but before your hand could reach the door handle he grabbed you and pulled you back to him “so we’re over just like that?” he practically barked down at you fingers tightening around your wrist clearly not pleased with your words “yes, my dad just wants me to go to this stupid thing with you and I know you want to impress your dad just as much as I do mine so it’s a win win for both of us” ripping your hand out of his grasp you tried to read his facial expression but it was blank the part about his dad clearly striking a nerve within him “whatever” he stated coldly turning away from you. You had to admit it hurt after almost a year of being with him that he didn’t even try to stop you or fight for you, but what were you expecting it’s Rafe.
You exited his room tears profusely falling from your eyes, you weren’t crying because you guys we’re no longer together but because you had just now realized how toxic the entire relationship had been and you were more then disappointed in yourself for letting anyone treat you that way for that long.
You made your way down the stairs towards the front door but before you could reach it an arm grabbed you stopping you from moving any further, thinking it was Rafe you turned around prepared to cuss him out but immediately calmed down once you noticed Sarah standing before you, it was obvious by her facial expression that she knew something was up with you and Rafe.
“What happened?” She frowned as she pulled you into a tight hug, you quietly cried into her shoulder as your arms rested weakly on her waist. “I don’t know what I ever saw in him” you sniffled pulling away from the hug so you could look back up at her “you know what I don’t either” she smiled wiping away the few tears that continued making their way down your cheeks.
“Come on lets go do something” she smiled intertwining her hands with yours dragging you out of the house behind her “like what?” you asked opening the passenger side door of her car and stepping into it not to worried about leaving yours behind, you’d come and get it later. Sarah got into the drivers seat shortly after you “first we go eat, can’t do anything on an empty stomach” she replied putting the key in the ignition and turning the car on “there’s this place that I absolutely love it’s called The Wreck” she spoke as she exited the driveway “isn’t that the restaurant that Kiara’s parents own?” you questioned raising an eyebrow at her since Sarah had told you about their previous feud multiple times. “Yeah but i’m pretty sure she’s not working right now and either way it doesn’t matter if she is i’m a customer so i’m sure we’ll both keep things strictly professional” she huffed causing you to chuckle your mind quickly forgetting all about Rafe and his stupid antics.
As Sarah parked in front of the wreck she involuntarily groaned noticing Kiara and the rest of her Pogue friends all sitting in front of the entrance enjoying their fries and hamburgers some you recognized, some you didn’t. “Shit” Sarah mumbled “strictly professional” you joked copying her words from before, she lightly hit you in the shoulder before grabbing her purse and getting out of the car you following behind shortly after.
As you walked past the Pogues and toward the entrance all you received were dirty looks and glares especially from Kiara, the only one who wasn’t glaring was JJ who not so subtly let his eyes wander up and down your body, Kiara clearly noticed as she hit him in the back of the head scolding him, “what the hell” you heard him mumble as he rubbed the back of his head causing you to let out a small chuckle.
The only reason you knew who JJ was, was because of the multiple fights you had to break up between him and Rafe, you could never understand how two people could hate each other that much.
Turning away from them you followed Sarah inside the restaurant and just your luck you were seated right next to the window that was facing them, “Oh god” Sarah groaned hiding her face behind the menu that had been placed in front of her “she’s still staring” you looked over your shoulder, and sure enough you got a perfect look of Kiara’s face and oh boy if looks could kill you’d both be dead by now.
“Is this all seriously because you didn’t invite her to your birthday party?” you questioned turning back around “yup” Sarah replied resting her chin in her palm “I kind of miss her though she was fun to hang out with, you’d like her” Sarah smiled causing you to look back one more time making direct eye contact with JJ who subtly winked at you, you felt heat rising to your cheeks and quickly turned away eyes diverting to the menu in front of you.
“So what do you wanna do when we finish eating?” you asked looking up at Sarah who only gave a shrug in response “you wanna go buy some dresses for Midsummers, I literally have nothing to wear?” she groaned taking a sip of her water giving you a hopeful look “sure” you chuckled looking out the window once more only to see the Pogues were no longer there, you felt slightly disappointed at the lost sight of the Maybank boy.
I’m gonna make a tag list for this series so let me know if you’d like to be tagged in future chapters!! xx

Hey🙂! Could you write smth for Iceman where, the reader hears about the training accident (the one that killed Goose) but just that there was an accident and someone is dead, not who's involved, and is really worried, and finally finds Ice and is really freaked out like "I thought you were dead" if that makes sense, sorry if it doesn't
Of course I can! I hope you enjoy this!❤💛💛

Tumblr media
The words on the page in front of me have become blurred from how many times I've read them over, the pen in my hand idly tracing patterns and key phrases down onto the notebook to the side of the page, boredom having taken its toll on me. Yawning, I stretch out my arms and back, cracking my neck as I let out a sigh of exhaustion, having spent the last two hours doing theory work, the four hours before doing practical, my body feeling completely wiped out, eyelids heavy as I try not to fall asleep at my desk. Dropping the pen, I lean back in my seat, my head falling back against the wall behind me, my work momentarily forgotten as I listen in to the noises around me; there's only a few other aviators in the room with me, some of them conversing with each other, a variety of ground staff walking past the room in the corridor outside, their footsteps loud on the smooth floor beneath them.
My eyes are just closing, sleep finally taking me, when I hear the raised voices coming down the hall towards us, pounding footsteps announcing the arrival of a panicked pilot as he bursts into the room, snapping my attention to the doorway. Confusion floods me as I catch sight of him, taking note of his disheveled appearance and messy uniform, his words short and broken, clearly out of breath.
"There's been...there's been a crash...a bad one. One of the planes...spun out...one of them didn't make it..." He pants out, a wave of horror rippling through the room as the rest of us stand up from our positions, words of disbelief echoing from us.
"Who was out today?" A RIO across the room questions, body as tense as the atmosphere as he steps forwards.
"It was Maverick and Goose, and Iceman and Slider, right?" Someone responds, though I barely hear it, instantly running from the room as I register one of the names.
Pushing past the pilot in the door, I break out into a sprint, charging through the corridors with little care for who I have to shove out of my way, focused on only one thing, dread coursing with the adrenaline in my veins. A commander shouts at me as i pass, but i don't pay attention, choosing instead to carry on, arms and legs pumping to carry me faster down the corridor, towards the hangars. Rapid thoughts flash through my mind: was Iceman involved? Was he in the crash?
Was he the one who died?
I try not to think too hard on that, doing my best to focus on the motions of running through the sparse crowds of people, aiming for the changing rooms, when I suddenly crash into a firm body. Stumbling back, I look up momentarily, freezing in place when I see who it is, my jaw clenching as I swallow down my sudden trepidation. Viper.
"Lieutenant (Y/L/N). I assume you've found out about what's happened." He sighs, dusting himself down with a grave expression on his face, eyes looking over my panicked countenance.
"I have, sir." I reply, shifting in place.
"Then I think you should know that the outcome of this has been a particularly bad one. The aviators involved are in the changing rooms." He informs me, sighing to himself as I hastily thank him and continue on my path towards my destination.
Finally, I reach the changing rooms, bursting through the doors into the men's ones, swiftly scanning the area, taking in the one person standing by his locker: Slider. He looks up as I enter, giving me a tight smile as he walks over, having dressed very quickly given the circumstances, obviously noticing my urgency.
"Are you ok?" I question him briefly, pulling the taller RIO into a quick embrace as he let's out a dry chuckle.
"Ok is an overstatement, but I'll survive. It's the others that I'd worry about." He reassures me, pulling away and leaving the room with a brief gesture to the showers.
Smiling at him, I try to ignore the rising sense of dread as I make my way over to the tiled area, looking hesitantly around the corner, quickly finding the one person standing there, still in flight gear, leaning against the wall at the far end, blue eyes trained on the floor, arms wrapped around his torso. A sob of relief threatens to escape me as I move further into the area, my shoes slipping slightly on the tiles, drawing Iceman's attention to me, his jaw clenching at the sight of me. I stop a metre or so away from him, breathing uneven as I try to calm myself down, emotions suddenly exploding in my head, tears trying to spill out over my cheeks as I take over his appearance, as if reassuring myself that he's really there. When I open my mouth to speak, nothing comes out at first, the air whistling out between my teeth as my throat suddenly turns dry, coherent words only forming when I swallow down the scratchy sensation.
"I thought you were dead..." I finally manage, making eye contact with him as he let's out a bitter huff of air.
"Unfortunately not." He growls out quietly, looking down at the floor again, arms tightening around his body, giving him a much more vulnerable demeanor.
"What are you talking about?" I breathe out, incredulous at his response, my body itching to wrap the pilot into an embrace, "What happened? Where are Maverick and Goo- it's one of them, isn't it?"
My voice trails off as I realise this, grief flooding me at the thought of either of them dying, having made friends with both when we first joined Top Gun, much to Iceman's dismay. I haven't seen either of them, so its definetly one of them.
Iceman doesn't say anything, instead nodding almost indiscernibly, breath hitching at the reminder, knuckles turning white as he digs his fingers into his arms.
"It was Goose...he didn't make it." The pilot grits out, closing his eyes tightly, "And it's all my fault."
My eyes snap back to him at this, finding it hard to believe that it could've been his fault, especially after having flown with him before, knowing he's an incredibly good and safe flyer, and always looks out for his wingman.
"What makes you say that?" I question him, before immediately regretting my words.
His knuckles whiten.
"It was my jet wash they flew through. We were chasing a mig, and Maverick had a clear shot. I didn't let him take it, because I really wanted to take this one. I was too damn cocky. I realised I couldn't get it, and moved out of the way, and Maverick flew right into the jet wash. They entered a flat spin..." His voice breaks off, words hitching as he recalls the events, " It's my fault that Goose died."
Hearing this, I try not to let my tears fall from my eyes, knowing that it'll break him to see them, stepping forwards to place my hands on his shoulders, rubbing soothing circles into the muscle under his shirt.
"Don't say that, it's not your fault! You couldn't have known they were going to fly into your jet wash!" I say to him, following his head as he moves to look away from me.
"If I just let Maverick take the shot..." He starts, biting his lip as he closes his eyes, only to open them again when my hands move up to cup his cheeks.
"Please don't think like that, Tom. Accidents happen, and this one just happened to have a worse outcome than it should've had. What's happened has happened, and it isn't your fault, so please don't believe that." I reassure him, watching as he seems to fight with some urge.
His resolve seems to finally break, the pilot stepping forwards to wrap his arms around me, burying his face into my shoulder as he starts to cry, sobs violently wracking his body. I instinctually return the embrace, looping my arms around his torso, rubbing his back until his knees seem to give out, the two of us sinking to the floor, the tile cold and hard under my heated skin. Carefully, I manoeuvre us so that I'm leaning back against the wall behind us, cradling Tom against my chest, where he clutches at my shirt, needing something to hold onto to ground himself, my fingers running through his hair, palms rubbing down his back reassuringly as I whisper sweet nothings to him. I try to hold it together for him, fighting the urge to let my own emotions out, trying to make sure he has someone to support him and help him through this time, my head falling back against the wall as tears threaten to spill. Clenching my jaw, I look back down at him, pressing a soft kiss to his hairline, watching as he moves to press himself closer, uncaring of whether or not anyone walks in and sees us, knowing that this is the best thing for him at this moment.
For what feels like hours, we remain together on the floor, neither of us saying much as we relish each other's closeness, knowing that the both if us need it, only looking up when someone walks in: a distraught, numb looking Maverick. As soon as he sees us, his face scrunched up into a sob, looking as if he longs for the same contact, the pilot's knees buckling slightly. Wordlessly, I extend an arm to him, wrapping it around him as he joins us on the floor, reassuring both pilots as they seek help.
