My parents are having a party and I’ve put myself on “cat duty” where I lock myself and my cat in my room because I hate it when there are a bunch of strangers in my home and my cat sees any charcuterie board as an opportunity do that gluttonous rat musical number in charlottes web 1973 and anyway the cat in question is now sitting by the door alternating between reaching for the doorknob (she knows how doors work. she can’t use them because she doesn’t have thumbs but I’m positive she has a basic understanding of the relationship between the door and the handle) and staring at me with the biggest wettest sparkliest saddest most miserable eyes in the entire world.

Has anyone seen Guillermo Del Toro’s sci-fi horror movie Splice (2009)? Something’s been on my mind about it. Spoilers below.

So, I’m not usually one to like sex scenes in movies, especially rape scenes. A lot of the time I find them unnecessary or lazy, especially in horror. I know a lot of people feel that way about the two sex scenes in this movie, but I disagree.

So, what is it? Splice is a modern Frankenstein, a story about a creature incapable of being loved by the humans it was created and formed by. In which biologist couple Clive and Elsa are tasked with creating hybrid creatures using a mix of different animal species DNA. After an initial success, Elsa, unbeknownst to Clive, creates another hybrid by mixing DNA from the initial hybrids with her own. The rapidly-growing hybrid, named Dren, acts just as monstrous as a humanimal would be expected to. The couple keeps Dren in isolation, fearing repercussions and the loss of their research efforts if she was discovered.

So it’s very clear from the beginning that Elsa is Dren’s mother, biologically and emotionally. Elsa feeds, clothes, teaches, etc. I’ve seen people refer to Clive as Dren’s father but…honestly, he really isn’t. Elsa treats Dren as the child she wants her to be, Clive treats her like the experiment she was supposed to be. Clive is disgusted at Dren’s existence, even moreso when he discovers that Elsa used her own DNA to produce her. Clive does not attempt to bond or connect to Dren, calls her “the creature”, “the experiment”, or “the subject”, and actively tries to kill her on multiple occasions. There is a scene when Dren is toddler-age where she gets sick and is actively dying, and while Elsa attempts to save her by using a cold bath to bring her fever down, Clive physically pushes Elsa away and attempts to drown Dren. He is unsuccessful, as it’s revealed that she has amphibious lungs, but Clive very specifically did not know that and very specifically lied to Elsa that he did. “Father” of the year everyone. It would be more accurate to refer to Clive’s relationship with Dren as “her mother’s boyfriend”.

Now, here’s a big point that the movie spells out explicitly but a lot of people seem to miss (or ignore): Neither Elsa nor Clive wanted to be parents. Clive, from the beginning, wanted to be a scientist and nothing but. His intention was to remain detached and clinical, to treat his animal test subjects as a stepping stone for knowledge. Elsa is explicitly maternal, caring and cooing and playing the part of a doting mother. But that’s the thing, she is PLAYING the part.

When Dren starts getting older (read: stops being a small, stupid, easily-commanded child) and wanting to do things like go outside, or keep a cat she found as a pet, or eat meat, Elsa stops acting like a good mother. She starts with yelling at and berating Dren. After Dren runs away from a confrontation and hides in her bed, Elsa follows her, and takes away her cat (a cat that she’d been taking apparently good care of, considering it was healthy and comfortable enough to purr while she held it). Elsa’s violent reaction to Dren’s (pretty normal for a kid/teenager I might add) disobedience culminates after Dren has an emotional reaction to having her pet taken, and having her request to go outside denied.

Dren pushes Elsa to the ground, threatens her with a venomous tail spur, and steals the key to her enclosure from around Elsa’s neck. It should be noted that Dren does NOT harm Elsa, rather unlocks the door and goes outside to look at the sun. Elsa responds by hitting Dren on the back of the head with a shovel, knocking her out, and strapping her to a gurney. In one of the most gut-wrenching scenes in the movie, Elsa surgically removes the end of Dren’s tail while she’s awake and struggling, all the while recording audio logs of the process where she repeatedly refers to Dren as a subject.

Clive walks in after the fact, with Dren still strapped to the gurney with a bloody stump at the end of her tail. At this point in the movie, the couple switches roles, with Elsa now seeing Dren as nothing but an experiment, and Clive seeing her as a person.

Elsa did not want a child. Elsa wanted a baby. Clive calls this out directly early on (while also notably avoiding the fact that he was complicit in Dren’s creation), by chastising Elsa for treating an infant Dren “like a pet”. Clive brings attention to this concept again directly later on, telling Elsa that she “never wanted a normal child, something you couldn’t control”. That is the main thesis of the story, that neither Elsa or Clive, nor their predecessor Victor Frankenstein, were prepared or willing to take care of a person.

They created monsters, because they did not want to be responsible for children who would grow up to be people. But like in many of Guillermo Del Toro’s works, a person is a person whether or not they’re a monster. They created monsters, because they would not love a child that could disobey. In both stories, the creature is not human, and is brought up in isolation because their creator and their world will not love anyone who isn’t human. In Splice specifically, Dren’s idea of love is formed by two things: Elsa’s treatment of her, and Clive’s treatment of Elsa.

So what does that mean for the sex scenes, and why am I writing so many words to justify them? Put simply, Dren has only seen love through two lenses, the violence of a mother who did not want a child, and the passion of sexual intimacy. It should be noted that Dren did NOT show any interest in sex until after she watched Clive sleep with Elsa, and that she did NOT show any interest in Clive until he stopped her from running away by telling her that he loved her, and giving her a hug. It should also be noted that Clive did not see her a person until she started talking (well, forming words with scrabble tiles), ie. forming and expressing independent thought. Don’t take this as me defending Clive, he was still complicit in Dren’s creation and directly involved in her isolation and abuse, but it’s important to note the differences in how he and Elsa thought about Dren.

Dren is, just like Frankenstein’s monster, an example of a tragic abomination. Both are people, whose parent wanted to create, but did not want to deal with the consequences of creation. Both are people who watched and learned from a stranger that was so disgusted with their existence that they tried to kill them.

By the time Dren is an adult, she’s internalized that love is violence, and love is sex. First she seeks out sex from Clive, who tells her to stop, then initiates again after she pulls back. What a Totally Great And Not Terrible At All way to teach the mutant monster girl the idea of consent, Clive. At the end of the movie, Dren has become fully a monster. She hunts and kills the strangers that discover her.

Which brings us to the scene that most people cite as the most disgusting scene in the movie: Dren, presumably because of the mollusks or insects in her DNA, has become male, and rapes Elsa. Is it disturbing? Absolutely. Is it morally abhorrent? Yes of course. Is it out of character or lazy shock? No, not at all. There’s a very important callback, punctuated by the fact that it is Dren’s only spoken line in the entire movie. When Elsa asks what she wants, Dren parrots the exacts words Elsa told her as a child.

“I, inside you.”

Elsa taught Dren that her love had nothing to do with Dren herself, and everything to do with the fact that Dren contained her DNA. Clive taught Dren that if you love someone, you fuck them whether or not they say no. What Dren did was awful and disgusting, but the horror of her actions doesn’t come from the monstrous acts she committed, but from the fact that it was never her fault she became that kind of monster in the first place. Even Elsa’s resulting pregnancy ties into that concept, the idea that she will never fully escape from the monster she created.

Elsa taught Dren that she loved her, on the condition that she was, as she put it, inside of her. All Dren did was return the favor.

In other words, hoes mad when the horror be horrific.

it was in her rolling stone cover story! (a lot of the press she did at that time is tinged with things that are saddening to revisit, but also clear on what her perspective was. the vogue 73 questions is another one):

So they always go to the same fabricated ending that every other tabloid has used in my story, which is, 'She got too clingy’, or 'Taylor has too many emotions, she scared him away’. Which has honestly never been the reason for any of my break-ups. You know what has been the reason? The media. You take something very fragile, like trying to get to know someone, and it feels like walking out into the middle of a gladiator arena with someone you’ve just met. And all of a sudden the public and the media are allowed to say thumbs up or thumbs down. So I just don’t try it anymore."

Middlepaw info dump cuz I’m bored. No, this will not be well organized. I’m tired and don’t have the energy to organize and also just remembered I gotta do Duolingo, but really don’t wanna… so if I mysteriously disappear, you know why. Anyways, sorry if this is rambly and/or doesn’t make any sense… I may or may not fix it later if needed

- They crave attention because they often don’t recieve a lot of it. Because they haven’t recieved much of it, tho, they aren’t too great at interacting with others… so instead of just talking to cats to get attention, they do some interesting things. Example: approaching Milkwail (quitedisasterous’ character. I absolutely love Milkwail <33) in hopes of being punted because being punted is a form of attention and any attention is good attention (spoiler: this plan failed, but in the best way possible)

- When they do get attention, they have no clue what to do with it. Social situations are not their specialty

- To make up for the lack of interacting with cats, they tend to interact with inanimate objects instead. Rocks, sticks, leaves, whatever. They’ll also just talk to nothing while staring off into the void of time and space. They have like full on convos like this and have specific objects that are their close friends. They tend to keep these ones stashed in hiding places around the territory so that others don’t accidentally mess with them or something not realizing that they have importance. (one of Middlepaw’s favorites is their emotional support shedded snake skin named Jerry. Why is it named Jerry? Cuz I said so. I really don’t know. They keep Jerry extra well hidden compared to the others)

- Middlepaw is very nonconfrontational. For example, if someone were to find one of their object friends and messed with it in some way, they wouldn’t be happy about it, but wouldn’t do anything. They’d probably just watch from a distance and be really tense the whole time and then go find it a new hiding spot the moment the cat left (btw, by “not happy,” I mean like worried, not mad. They understand that these are just objects to everyone else and don’t blame others for not seeing these things the same way they do)

- They talk to themselves and also objects and stuff and they do so both out loud and in their head, so sometimes they mix the two up… meaning they’ll occasionally talk to a cat and accidentally say things in their head and just be staring at the cat waiting for a response to something they never actually said

- They did have a family (parents and two siblings), but they just kinda disappeared one day. I’m still working out the details on this, kinda wanna wait until more canon lore about Mommyclan history comes out before I set the specifics in stone. Middlepaw has a vague idea of what happened to them, but that’s probably about the most info anyone has. Middlepaw also just kinda tried to pretend nothing had happened. This is all subject to change tho. I’ll prob make another post about this once I solidify the details and stuff. Or maybe not, idk. We’ll see

- They’re 10 moons old

Tea - But more specifically she prefers more fruity teas with softer but sweeter flavors.

Hot or Cold?

Cold - She’s not a big fan of fire, as fire is quite destructive. And she can actually like. Feel plants die so.

Sunrise or Sunset?

Sunrise - She's only ever seen one sunset but if she could see a sunrise I think she would prefer it, emotionally speaking. She’s real heavy on metaphors and emotions and so would enjoy the concept.

Neon or Pastel?

Pastel - Neon stands out too much and she sees it all the time (living in a cyber-eque dystopia,) though she likes the look of it.

Books or Movies?

Books - She’s big on thinking, and imagining, so books are definitely more her forte. Also all of the harder parts about watching movies.

Rural living or Urban Living?

Urban Living - Because of her love for nature- rather than in spite of it- she prefers finding alternative solutions to the stone towers of urban cities as opposed to just writing them off. She’s one the people who would really rather they introduce plants to everyone. 

Cats or Dogs? 

Dogs - See, I wanted to say cats, because I’m not a fan of dogs, but Hadley is- if I have to choose- a dog person, because it’s something to take care of and give attention and that’s literally all she knows how to do. 

Stability or Adventure?

Adventure - Hadley loves seeing new things and learning new things and isn’t afraid to pay the price. Not to mention Adventures means people she can help- she loves helping people.

Brutal truth or blissful lie?

Blissful lie - There’s a time and a place for the truth, but it should never be brutal. If she must either tell a brutal truth or a blissful lie, she’d rather lie. (Though honestly she’d rather tell blissful truths and brutal lies.)

Warm colors or cool colors?

Warm Colors - That’s the primary tone flowers average out to, though honestly she likes both equally.

Coziness or opulence?

Coziness - Wealth makes her feel unsafe, and guilty. Like she herself is taking from the poorer people. Though her parents are (mostly) honest workers, she doesn’t even really like the fact that they live in a two-story house.

Work or rest?

Work - It’s always been her belief that one should never lie still unless they’re working their mind. The only person that’s ever gotten her to take a break would be her girlfriend, and even those times were spent learning glitches in the games her girlfriend would play.

Baths or showers?

Baths - She likes the comfort of being surrounded. (When she was little and small enough, she’d close her eyes and pretend to be a lilypad in the tub. This caused many heart attacks for her poor mother.)

Late nights or early mornings?

Late nights - Nothing like staying up all night with your favourite gamer girl/detective boy and having lots of fun. Plus, she generally doesn’t get a lot of sleep so really this is just ideal.

Tradition or innovation?

Innovation - In the right circumstances, I can totally see her getting into unethical science. (Mainly malforming her current body. She has no love for it, personally, and only maintains herself for the benefit of those around her.) And she would rather see the world change than stay the same, generally speaking. (The world is pretty bad.)

Sweet or savory?

Savory - Sweetness is all well and good but she doesn’t find it filling. She would prefer to eat filling food than sweet candies. (Most of my characters will prefer savory for much the same reasons.)

Spicy or mild?

Mild - She doesn’t really care either way, but spicy food can injure the body sometimes and she would prefer to not deal with that.

Beach or forest?

Forest - She’s a botanist. Ofc she’d prefer the forest. Though she would likely enjoy water plants too, her father’s escapades into the ocean deter her.

Chaos or order?

Chaos - She believes there’s a certain kind of order to chaos that is particularly beautiful when properly founded and encouraged. If she had to endure rigid structure, she totally could, but she’s far more likely to dismantle it herself.

Leather or denim?

Denim - She likes the blue of denim. (And leather is Too Heavy.)

Peace or passion?

Passion - She doesn’t have strong feelings about anything other than plants. She finds passion to be a beautiful thing, and would generally choose a passion over peace if she had to. In many ways, she admires those with a strong zest for life.

Open space or closed space?

Closed space - She has a particular draw to the comfort of being compressed. A small part of it would call it the feeling of being buried.

Company or solitude?

Company - She doesn’t like being alone. That’s when the Thoughts might roll in. She'd much rather hang out with even unpleasant company than stay alone somewhere.

Fire or water?

Water - if only because she identifies with it in a strange way. Something about the way it moves and how it feels is just comforting to her. Not to mention the implications of it's complicated relationship with fire itself.

Pride - undoubtedly. She believes that whatever you are, you should be proud of it. Whether or not it's good or bad for others, you should be proud to be you. Not many people can boast being themselves.

Fight or flight?

Flight - Aside from most things not being worth the fight, she likes being chased. She likes outwitting her opponent as opposed to out-strengthing them. She finds the game of escape more fun than the force of a fight.

Past or future?

Past - It's harder to see the future, so she tends towards trying to use the past instead. For her, she doesn't have much of a future anyways.

Give or take?

Give - She has no reason or will to take. After all, that sort of thing just doesn't give her joy. She likes seeing people contented and she likes being around happy people. Taking will only ever subtract from that.

Risk or safety?

Loud or soft?

Soft - Being too loud can draw eyes to her and she would rather avoid that potentiality if- at all- possible. The effectiveness varies but she will always be of softer cloth.

Risk - if you can afford to take a risk, you absolutely should. Safety is never guaranteed, so you should naturally go with the rest of the world. In a risky world, one must live a risky life.

- Lackadaisy (Webseries) - I don’t have anything interesting to say about this one, just that it was a very well made and pretty intro to what I remember being a pretty compelling web series. The designs of the cats and how much personality each exudes is incredible. 

- The Super Mario Bros Movie (Movie) - The reviews of this seem pretty mixed, but personally I liked it quite a bit. No, it’s not some mind blowing cinematic masterpiece, but for what it is, a kid friendly movie introducing the basic Mario story, it’s honestly much better than I was expecting-especially considering Illuminations previous output. You can tell it’s made by people who love the series, not only with the level of references but also in just the details of how the characters move or how the backgrounds and world are rendered. It’s quite pretty, with the character models looking adorable and the backgrounds full of color. Bowser was a standout of course, both in Jack Blacks vocal performance and the way they incorporated his mannerisms into the character model. I loved the brothers relationship and how affectionate they were with each other. It also had a few pretty solid jokes. I do wish it had been longer, as the scenes went by too fast for any emotional moment to take root, but again if you think of it as a set up of what’s bound to be a franchise of Galaxy, Luigi’s Mansion, or Odessy sequels, then it’s a pretty good “first episode” so to speak. 

- Bocchi the Rock (Anime) - My first venture into binging all the yuri-esque shows I missed from last year, Bocchi was indeed pretty solid. They made the protagonist uncomfortably relatable in her brand of social awkwardness which made for some emotional moments as well as big oof jokes. The cut away gags experimenting with different animation were fun, I did quite like the music and performances, and the character dynamics were pretty good, I’ll watch a 2nd season if it gets one. I’m not sure I’d go as far as calling it anime of the year, the ending didn’t really leave off like a complete story and plot wise it didn’t really have much going on, but as a nice slice of life comedy it’s definitely worth the watch. As a character Bocchi is great, but hopefully a s2 will explore a bit more of the other band members, who weren’t generic characters by any means but didn’t really get much screentime.

- Dr, Stone (Anime) - Hey we are back! New guy seems fun, I still adore Senku as a protagonist, and I’m interested to see how they plan to balance so many characters moving forward. Hope we see more flashbacks of the fantastic dad/son relationship, it’s honestly one of my favorites from any media I’ve seen. 

- Buddy Daddies (Anime) - While the ending surprised me in it’s conclusively (I did not expect a future epilogue to be canonized) overall I’d say it was a good decision. I’d say this was a solid C+, B-, it was good at being the cute little parenting comedy it wanted to be with some fun moments and solid animation but wasn’t particularly memorable in terms of plot or characters-like, I like all the leads, but I don’t see them topping any end of the year favorite lists. I will say that I’m surprised at how platonic they kept the fathers, I hadn’t expected them to get together but I did expect a lot more ship bait than we got. They work fine as a ship but the series really did focus a lot more on the child rearing aspects which came as a surprise considering how often marketing wants to tease mlm relationships for profit. I guess I appreciate it as I prefer giving visibility to more platonic relationships and unusual family structures to queerbaiting with no delivery but also there’s so few genuinely good mlm anime that it would’ve been nice for them to just have them be a couple. I did have a fun time with this, I’d recommend it if you are into the raising children genre. 

- Campfire Cooking in Another World (Anime) - Follow some people who had suggested this as a fun, relaxing little cooking anime and yeah, that checks out so far. Just a very cute and wholesome little feel good series about a man feeding his giant God level talking dog and baby slime child-As a domestic monster appreciator this is checking my boxes pretty well.  

- The Locked Tomb Series (Books) - Almost done with Gideon the Ninth, once again I’m really enjoying these characters and their dynamics, as well as the general space necromancy mystery plotline. I’m listening to the audiobook at the moment, but I’ll likely buy the physical copies as there are a lot of excellent quotes in here that I would like easier access to revisit. Anyway, Gideon and Harrow are the toxic co-dependent love hate lesbian ship I’ve needed in my life since my catradora hyperfixation. 

- Resident Evil 4 (Video Game) - Played till around chapter 6 so far with my friends and honestly, it’s really good. They keep all the fun stuff from the original but make it high res, I love seeing Leon and Ada and Luis and the Merchant again. It’s hard to get everyone together to play but I’m excited about getting to experience it again, got some great childhood memories of hanging with the girls and laughing at all the strange zombie noises they chose to include.

As usual I’m also keeping up with The Greatest Estate Developer, Land of the Lustrous, The Vampire Dies In No Time, and The S Classes that I raised.

context- I wrote a fic one time that was like the city turned on WG a bit and her secret identity got revealed after a really bad battle, like Becky overheard some conversations out of context of people she cared about and assumed that their mixed emotions were them completely shunning her. Then TB comforted her in the woods and the ending kindof implies that she bitterly decides to stop protecting the city.

So thats the backstory for whatever saccharine family bullshit i’m about to start saying idk I didn’t plan this

Twobrains goes home and eats his dinner but keeps thinking about Becky, like he’s all discombobulated because he’s getting weird fuzzy memories of her secret identity and realizing that he has a lot repressed of warmth and love that the two shared

He talks to his henchmen and tells them everything, Squeaky is just kindof quietly listening and observing like the stone cold embodiment of evil the weird mouse tumor is. He’s like “this could be a beneficial development” and Tb is like “I am in so much pain”

Anyways a couple days go by and things go back to normal except wordgirl (now known to be Becky Botsford) is no where to be seen. Everyone is worried sick but really hesitant about expressing it or going to look for her because they feel like she’s now alienated (pun. laugh. laugh at my pun.) from everyone else

And they don’t really understand that she’s really vulnerable right now because everyone has it in their heads that they don’t really see Wordgirl as a full fledged person, and more like a godly beacon of power. This is infecting their view of Becky, and the people who knew Becky are being very standoffish and weird about it

So TB is thinkin his thoughts and goes through old tapes of Steven and WG interacting, stuff he refused to watch before. He goes to a villain meeting and all the villains talk about how it’s been nice that they haven’t been caught doing crimes but they’re all really hesitant to do anything too big.

Some like Granny May and Mr. Big are just doing their thing as normal but keeping it lowkey, some like Butcher and Chuck feel too guilty to do any crimes while Wordgirl is sad and MIA, and Tobey is just out here losing all villainous motivation because Wordgirl isn’t showing up and, he along with Victoria and Eileen miss Becky a lot.

Kid Math IS here and stopping some villains, but he’s in the city over so he can’t be at Fair City all the time!

Twobrains considers all this and decides to take some action under the guise of being annoyed at everyone being all melancholy. He goes to her spaceship hideout (he knows where it is from that one episode where she procrastinated and took him there) and finds her there sulking as expected.

Becky is laying on the couch, the tv on but not really watching it. She’s knows that her family and friends probably miss her, and she should probably talk to Bob because he’s in just as deep as she is, but she’s stuck in her own head still.

When she hears a knock on the door, or rather, on the window, she goes to check it out. Twobrains somehow climbed his way up to the window and is now very clearly regretting that decision, and almost falling off

She saves him and he’s like “Are you just gonna mope forever” and she’s like [emo music] “you’re not my dad you don’t understand!” and he’s all “Thats it. You’re coming with me.” and he just kinda scoops her up like you would a wet cat and she’s too preteen angst to care, and thus begins the “Wordgirl hides from everyone and lives with Twobrains for a bit” au

He makes her a little pallet in the guest room and puts in some toys and stuff she left in his lab when he was Steven that he never gave back to her before (I am holding on to that headcanon for dear life I bring it up so much) and over time the guest room stops looking like a guest room and starts looking like an explosion of 11-year-old-girl happened in the middle of this evil lair

He gets her some civilian clothes at some point so she doesn’t have to just wear the uniform all the time but like he has no idea what little girls wear so it’s just his outfit but smaller. The henchman go out and get Becky some actual outfits and stuff

Twobrains starts to grumpily bond with Becky and the Henchmen find it funny how he goes out of his way for her but acts like it’s such a horrible burden.

“Boss aren’t we committing a crime? Why are we stopping at the pretty princess sale?”

“You imbeciles, well OBVIOUSLY this pretty princess special edition deluxe wallpaper color-by-number kit isn’t going to buy itself?? I swear, having Wordgirl around is so annoying, she doesn’t even know that this is out yet and still won’t leave the house anyways, so I have to be the one to get it for her! Ugh.”

“Boss why. Why do you need to get it for her.”

“Do I pay you to ask questions?? Go get my wallet!”

She pops up while he’s building his evil rays and EVERY single time she makes a big deal about how she could stop him if she was still a crime fighter and goes into detail about how she would do it. Like she’s so bored she makes up crimes for herself to stop. Eventually he’s like “I need some peace while building. Clearly the reasonable solution is not to ask her to leave me alone for a bit, so I’m going to build a room dedicated to hologram battle scenarios.” And it turns out to just be a battle training sort of deal but Becky thinks it’s the most fun thing ever

Mousebrain convinces TB to spread a rumor that Wordgirl has gone back to Lexicon, just for safety purposes. TB can tell that Squeaky has a plan, but is keeping quiet. For now. TB can guess pretty easily where this is going though.

one direction this could go is Becky thinks she’s just gonna stay away from everyone but as she and TB get closer she gets more and more into the things he does, she starts negotiating with her moral code a bit and begins by being curious about his work, and is genuinely interested when he excitedly infodumps about his projects

Then she starts helping him build his gadgets, evil or not. She even gets to wear one of his spare lab coats, but she has to tie up the sleeves and cape of the coat so it fits on her. He does have some goggles that fit her. One day when going to work on the lab she wears the outfit he bought that was just a copy of his, and combined with the lab coat and goggles it looks like Twobrains and his mini-me (who other then the outfit looks nothing like him so it’s silly) working on some sort of contraption together

He feels all proud when she wears the mini-me outfit and alcjakdjalxlckd im sick in the head someone help me but no yeah he’s like “Look. My child. She has arrived.”

“Y’know kid this is really fun, Why couldn’t we have just done this sooner instead of you pestering me about my schemes all this time”

“Doc. Arresting you for committing multiple felonies is not ‘pestering’”

He tells some of the other villains at some point, not all at once just the ones he’s closest too. He avoids telling the kids, something tells him that they would tell her parents where she is, and mouse brain doesn’t like that idea.

He tries to remain unbiased because she’s clearly hearing everything with the worst intentions right now, but from everything she says about how everyone from her life is supposedly talking about her they all seem pretty heartless just because she’s different and powerful. He doesn’t really want to have her go back to that either.

Chuck and Butcher have both been worried sick since they’re both really soft and have grown to care about Wordgirl a lot, so they’re happy she’s okay, and doubly happy that she’s not stopping their crimes of her own accord now. The two come over for lunch often and hang out with TB and his gaggle of people he accidentally adopted

TB has started to use her real name around the house because “Wordgirl” feels awkward. Becky at first is weirded out by him calling her Becky, and it feels strange for him too, but over time it starts being more comfortable and almost nostalgic, because WG remember everything from the steven time ofc and TB is getting more and more memories of Becky now that the truth is out

Sometimes Kid Math comes over to stop an evil scheme. Becky keeps her distance but is always overtaken by this intense self-hatred and guilt, but she feels too paralyzed to go do anything either way.

Becky, pointing at her feelings of inadequacy whenever she’s not doing something to serve others even if it’s too much for her: Damn g my cut is insane shoutout to my barber (camera pans to childhood trauma)

She basically really hates not doing anything and it makes her feel worthless or like she’s actively doing something wrong, or like it’s her sole duty to take care of other people and she’s failing at the point of her existence somehow

She ends up talking to TB and the other villains/henchmen that know where she is about this, because who else does she have right now? and they are all like “F that, you don’t owe anything to anybody!”

Between this, bonding with her villains, and becoming dangerously comfortable with avoiding seeing anyone she knows after the attack day she kindof becomes a villain in the shadows

She’s petrified of being seen in public again, but she helps some of the villains now. Mostly TB. She starts out by assisting with rays and such, but ends up wearing a cloak and breaking through walls for them or superhearing things etc

One day it gets to the point where she wakes up from a nightmare and in a angry, panicked haze goes and just wrecks a nearby building all on her own. She realizes someone might see her and rushed back to the warehouse, finding Twobrains awake. She apologizes, thinking she woke him up, but his sleep schedule has never been and will never be normal so he was just up on his own doing god knows what

He at first doesn’t think much of it other then that it’s weird she’s up so late, but catches on that she’s off when she keeps hanging around him but not talking.

She wants comfort and is just highkey affection starved but he’s not really the one she would go to for it and she doesn’t feel that she deserves it after doing something bad but she doesn’t want to be alone and he’s like the main adult in her life now and she just keeps spiraling until Twobrains who’s just been 🧍‍♂️ this whole time decides he doesn’t have time for the Becky-overthinking thing and picks her up in like the proper holding a child way

She’s very confused and he goes “You can tell me if you want. You don’t have to though, but you’re alright kiddo. Don’t start thinking you’re not n’ all that jazz.”

She just kind of leans into his shoulder quietly and he holds her with one arm while grabbing cheese snacks and stuff and then sits down with her to watch some late-night tv. They end up falling asleep on the couch together like that

So yeah Becky kindof does similar crimes to Tobey, rage/pain/panic-induced destruction but she’s not public about it, so no one knows who’s doing it. The regret she feels afterwards becomes less and less, and after spending so much time with villains the way the city treated her badly not only becomes clearer to her, it exacerbates SOOO much to the point where she starts internally hating the city a bit. She doesn’t want to but she gets in these mental spirals a lot and starts nitpicking every little time something has happened that she felt stressed or unappreciated by people in her life, and it makes it worse

Her mental state isn’t exactly getting worse, she’s healing previously repressed trauma in a lot of ways, but it’s not really improving because as much as they want to help and as good of listeners a lot of the villains are, and as nice it is to be apart of their support system now, they don’t really encourage healthy coping mechanisms

this is kindof where things go static for a bit. WG is a secret villain in the city but like not really, she’s living with Twobrains who’s getting really attached to his new child and they’ve got a sweet relationship but it’s still built on a very rocky foundation, especially with Squeaky purposefully trying to turn WG evil

Yeah! The reason you don’t see them much is they REALLY do not get a chance to shine in any media. Most of their g1 eps feel very ‘oh shit we forgot to sell these toys’; aid and blades are really the only two who get actual character arcs.

Fanon interpretation draws a lot from their official description and the cheesy sweetness of those eps. They’re the only combiner with more defensive capacity than offensive, and they’re built toe to tip to help humans. It lends to this fandom image of the boys as gentler, more comfortable around people than other cybertronians, and much kinder and loving towards each other.

Hot Spot: Big time dad energy; 25 year old boomer. He’s described as super energetic and invested in his team and they adore him in return. Groove: AH! This is the pacifist of the protectobots!! The official description that says it’s aid is totally wrong because Groove is the one with the philosophical streak and aid fires guns constantly. Groove sunbathes sideways on the floor in his alt mode; he’s a Garfield who’s read every Ursula Le Guinn essay. He roams and does fuck-all, and he likes to challenge people who take issue with that. Does a cybertronian need a gatling gun to be worth something? Can a mech not just be a motorcycle sitting very stoned on a cliff at sunset? The most frustrating one to argue with.

Streetwise: I’m making streetwise ACAB i’m sorry, i like him too much and he’s so nice. He’s just a dorky little Ford pursuit car and he can switch his insignia around to get past human barriers. Streetwise does the most legwork for human relations; he’s actually learnt the languages, not just auto translated, so he can better grip the cultures he’s interacting with. He talks to humans and lots of them, and he monitors when intervention would be good and when they need to stay out of it. There’s a pretty wobbly ethical issue with having 5 huge aliens just show up when there’s smoke; humanity is more complicated than that, and Streetwise does his best to make sure the Protectobots can keep operating while maintaining the trust of the people.

First Aid: Ok pulling off my kin tentacles for a moment. Aids a very empathetic bot, and in the g1 show that manifested as a lot of gentle motherly behaviour but we also have that IDW characterisation adding an edge to it. He processes his emotions externally, which is to say Aid observes the way he feels very closely in a detached way and uses that to empathise with others/manage the wellbeing of his team. As with many people who do this, it leaves an emotionally organised person; a bit prim a bit polite, very ASD/OCD. Aid also has a complex relationship with violence; he abhors seeing the waste and destruction of war, but he’s trapped himself in ritual. He might not want to be a soldier but he definitely wants to be swept off his feet.

Your thighs burn a little from holding yourself up at an angle but it’s worth it to see him so needy. The bell on his collar jingles with the effort to fuck upwards and it seems to spur him to keep going. You realize quite quickly that he won’t last much longer.

He comes and god it’s a sight to behold. His eyes squeeze shut and his mouth parts and his back arches, so hard it looks a little painful. You seat yourself down so his come fills inside of you instead of spilling out onto himself.

Hair falls in his face when he slumps forward as he’s coming down and you push it back, petting him in a comforting manner.

“Good kitty.” His hips jump and he whines, overstimulated by your words and your cunt still wrapped around him.

You go to unclip the material around his neck but he immediately stops you, mumbling that he wants to keep it on for now.

The next time you see him he’s wearing the collar, along with the time after that. He doesn’t seem to want to take it off and you’re not sure if it’s because he likes the pressure around his throat or if he likes feeling owned but either way it makes you hot inside and almost always results in his moans and the jingle of a bell filling the quiet night.

Poorly describing my versions of the Gotham rogues:

Joker: “yolo” in its most dangerous form, def is writing a slow burn enemies to loves fic about him and Batman. Gay and homophobic 💯 The other rogues don’t invite him to pride celebrations anymore cause he’ll keep calling people slurs “as a joke”. Him and Edward have longterm beef, like schoolgirl levels of petty drama.

Harley Quinn: would describe herself as a “girlboss” unironically while committing heinous crimes. tweeted “clowns aren’t funny” after breaking up with Joker (ended up causing a huge scandal). The OG “I can fix him” girl. Is sort of the rogues free underground therapist (god knows they need it) cause they can’t get professional help without being sent to Arkham.

Poison Ivy: Breaking News: Cottagecore lesbian commits mass murder cause her plant wilted. She’s what republicans think environmentalists are. Would get in a fist fight with that vegan teacher cause “plants have feelings too”. Has beef with most of the male rogues, supports ‘kill all men’ without realizing it’s a joke (she prefers ‘kill all humans’ but figured she had to downgrade because the Gotham city sirens are humans technically).

Cat Woman: “OH NO! It appears I’ve gotten stuck backwards in the bank vault step-Bat 😏😏😏😏😏😏, looks like I’m not stealing any more diamonds today 😰😩”. Mad respect for Selina, she just wants diamonds and bat dick, no tragic backstory or complex motivations needed. I personally like to headcanon her as wearing a straight up cat costume (ears and a tail like a true furry) cause it’s way funnier to imagine a sophisticated rich woman dressing up as a cat to steal shit than whatever bullshit DCs up to these days. Trans catgirl supremacy 💎👍

Scarecrow: That one guy who gets angry at people because “Halloween costumes are meant to be scary 🤬😡😑😒”. Doesn’t even attempt to express emotions, is the human embodiement of this emoji: 😐. His presence is more jarring than threatening, his intimidation levels are somehow underwhelming and overwhelming at the same time. The other rogues have collectively decided that he’s asexual under no assumption other than that they don’t want to imagine Jonathan having sex. Overtime Jonathan has become basically fearless (he smokes his own fear gas like vape just to feel something). Jonathan and Harley became good friends when they both worked in Arkham, their dynamic is surprisingly wholesome.

The Riddler: Didn’t get hugged enough as a child and is now making it everyone’s problem. Would hold a bank hostage to show Batman his third grade spelling bee medal. Is the only autistic rogue that gets accommodations in Arkham because he won’t stop bugging the guards. FTM trans ofc (his names Edward Nygma for Christ's sake). He ran away from home at seventeen and faked his own death (his deadname is legally dead lmao). Uses the terms “alpha, beta, and omega male” unironically.

Two Face: “Yeah, I mean, I didn’t wanna blow up the orphanage either, but Y’know the coin said-” The other rogues talk to Harvey as if he’s constantly at his breaking point, which is half true. Harv is a stone cold mf, he’s the rock that’s holding Two Face together tbh. Edward calls Harvey and Harv Jekyll and Hyde cause he’s that original. All the rogues have at least a sneaking suspicion that Bruce Wayne is batman and use Harvey as their little primary source (being ex besties and everything), until they find out Selina and Bruce are a thing of course. No matter how much evidence he’s faced with Harvey will never accept Bruce Wayne is batmam, he’s not ready to consider that one of the only positive people in his life has been duking it out with him this whole time.

Penguin: He’s the rest of the rogues chill gay gangster uncle I don’t make the rules. The iceberg lounge is like the Batman villain equivalent of The Central Perk from friends (aka: its their default place to hangout). Oswald always makes a fuss about them not making reservations ahead of them but at this point it’s just performative. Everyone’s 99% sure Oswald and Edward fucked at some point (Edward always makes a show of flustering Oswald when he needs a loan). Ossie always takes care of the others belongings when they’re in Arkham (he has a special place in his heart for Jonathan‘s crows).

The Mad Hatter: I love Jervis lmao he just really likes Alice in Wonderland and that’s a valid ass villain motivation 👍. One of the smartest rogues but doesn’t get enough credit because of how childish he is. He dresses in kids clothes, not just because he wants to but because he’s small af and can’t fit in shit. In public while the rogues are undercover Jervis usually wears a beanie or a baseball cap (he’d get spotted instantly if he wore his usual, but on bad days Jervis can’t bear to be without a hat). Jonathan and Jervis play chess a lot together in Arkham, and frequently engage in intellectual discussion, Edward tends to be a piss baby when Jon encourages him to do the same, he’s not ready to accept the reality that Jervis can match his intelligence.

Killer Croc: Waylon has a surprising amount in common with Jonathan, they share southern solidarity. He doesn’t travel out of the sewer often so the rogues will occasionally come to visit Waylon there (Edward always makes sure to complain loudly about the smell). Will show immense affection and loyalty to anyone who treats him as human (poor guy just needs a friend ☹️).

Mr Freeze: Literally just dead inside, someone give this poor bastard a hug. Victor stands as the most awkward rogue, he‘s sorta like the odd one out. The other rogues don’t interact with him that often because he’s sort of a party pooper. He’s the straight friend on thin ice, haha get it. Mr Freeze is my sisters favorite Batman villain because she thought the ice puns were funny in Batman in Robin, little does she know I’m embarrassing myself on tumblr in her glory.

Music Meister: So many of the Gotham rogues have horrible childhood trauma and Music Meister is just like “people bullied me for being a theater kid 😩😭💔😔”. In all honesty he’s iconic, in my au universe thingy I have him join the dork squad latter on and he sticks out like a sore thumb for a bit. I feel like him and Jervis would really hit it off though (mind control buddies, ha), although Jervis would always get him to sing Alice in Wonderland songs. In Arkham they have him wear a dog collar thingy and zap him when he sings, he gets bullied for that lol. anyways I’m sure I could make more of these, but it’s 2:20 am and my mind went blank. If y’all liked this I could always put more au headcanons out (I have A LOT)

OC gets reincarnated as a cat

AN : this is basically the outline for idea that I wrote yesterday (finished too late to post) so there’s going to be lots of bad spelling and horrible grammar, so far warning

Also : if you want to use this as inspiration Please, Please, Please tell me. I’m very happy if someone wants to write it, I’m pretty sure my writing won’t do it Justice. All I ask it that you let me know, mostly cause I want to read it too and I’d be happy to bounce off ideas

This can be looked at as platonic or possible romance

P.P.S : I’ve seen other fan fics on tumbler that have requests, if you are interested in things happening or ideas I’d love to know. Especially family scenes in the beginning. My cats each have had there own quirk, it might liven things up to add more. No question or idea is stupid (annoying? Maybe but that’s retail) a simple thought or word may spark something completely random and awesome

OC wakes up as a cat in London

OC meets steven and goes to his home, meets Gus (one tap)

OC meets Konsu as he insults steven, it clicks where she's at and Konsu calls her young one (she's near a god, like a god in the making cause she was claimed by her grey cat in her last life and accepted by calling her and considering her as her mom)

OC meets Marc (two taps) while at stevens

OC meets Jake (three taps)

Befriends all three, fluff times to show

Spends time with Konsu too gets him to lighten up on the boys guilt tripping wise, Marc doesn't want to do something, Jake gets more jobs and body/ cat time

OC can tell boys apart by emotional smells

Each tap is a person, OC tries to leave hints for the future, like the taps, the three mugs each their own, but yhe messages are very subtle cause she's keeping the secret to, but she wants clues in the boys memories for when they 'die', she wants to change things but fears what to change, but she wants steven and Marc to get along. Marc is stubborn and won't ever tell Steven if he can help it... actually he'd never tell he'd take it to his grave. And Steven fears Marc since he's killed and stuff, he needs the whole story to start fresh with Marc so they can be together. To be fair she's only ever seen the last two episodes but read fan fiction semi filling in the blanks.

Interlude: OC goes to London sanctum and uses it to steal 2 sling rings and travel to the NY sanctum. Sets up a stage that has messages 'remember' and (something about dr strange to get his attention like thanking him for his times with Domonau to get his attention and curiosity sparked) he won't see those notes till after she demonstrates using the sling ring to cut off a light purple plums head as she stares at Strange be fore using her new sling ring to travel back home. Sending strange and wu into s frenzy (later strange will remember with the 1st battle with Thanoes stopping the snap especially since he does it again but to the stones and transports them forcefully away and the battle continues)

Interlude 2 later chs though: strange meets steven and the cat after he Amit and snap trouble and OC he's a 'mental' voice she can use now and explains also mentioning to this steven about the 'sinister' strange while addressing 'sinister' at the same time he could look for fan girls or a Christine that was like him since she knew a lot of fan fic writers wrote sinister a happy end he just needed to find those y/n or Christine AUs that left them alone and ask/ offer those a place or to be with him, just don't go too Yandere

OC travels with Marc to Caro (hides in his bag and 'disappears' from the x rays to travel with him.... It's not pleasant (toy story 2) it's her 1st bout of godly magic. She follows Marc and Konsu (he might have to magically allow her entrance [OC tells Konsu that he should get the ohpther gods in his debut with a bet and they'll owe him a lot of favors, word it so Amit shows up, they all owe him, but with no time limit and to do it before summoning Horrow] ) to the gods temple (she scouts around and familiarizes herself so she can free Konsu from stone later. Meets Besset who welcomes and explains how she got here to this dimension, basically 'adopted' / inagerated (added) Into the 'besset cat god' family and kind of special like Neko Yoki in Japan and she's young so she's got a 9 life special

OC asks for a one time entrance into the temple after this and not to take the bet Konsu issued since will come and horrow will spin a good tale. Besset chuckles and agrees with a purr and says welcome to the family, I'm glad she chose you and you accepted. OC also tells Besset to make sure their avatar is not in or near the temple since Horrow and crew will storm the fortress and kill the avatars trying to free Amit

Layla is in the picture and is shocked the cat is there

OC can fight as a cat, more like support, she distracts scratches and bites, can't really kill (has to pick and choose battles)

Follow canon with dialogues etc

Marc gets shot, so head space. Not sure if OC can drag out Marc of the water

Walk down memory lane for those two, some of stevens memories include the # taps and they don't get it, but they are like she's really cute and I'm glad you had her, yeah she made being alone bearable, etc still the three mug thing was weird though, that was probably Konsu's, he's lightened up too which was weird though birds hated cats

OC calls the teleporte (doesn't realize she did it herself) frees Konsu tells him in at the Very end Harrow needs to live, Konsu gets upset but OC explains. "Listen!" (Readers won't know until later: OC needs horrow alive to kill All of admits followers Through them Before he dies, though the pain of the goddesses believers vanishing through her own powers [and not her mouth] is a shock and would slowly kill them painfully and by not telling Marc/ Steven to not finish her off will prove he's not like Amit/ Horrow in a small way

Still in memory lane after Marc's memories and the weighing of hearts still not balanced fight breaks out

OC feels a shift, a dread. Desperately wishing to be with her boys. Ends up in the mind room with the shaking coffin. She tries to get him out ends up sifting part human part cat and gets him out, meet greet, name oh hi, hi and then a few shouts down the way both turn and OC goes, "shit. Jake you can hit/ kill me later." They run and he connects the dots and gets a dark look, but nods and continues

Fight ensues, weigh the 3rd heart, scales balance. Laugh quick introductions. OC is watching and a song plays in her mind (three is a magic number) not realizing the boys are hearing it too since their minds are being shared right now. Though they ignore it to deal with her. Marc is highly cautious and doesn't let her leave his sight, Steven is gaping and Jake walks up to her and punches her Heavily twice, drawing contemplation from Marc and a shout of 'oi!" From Steven.

OC is like relax steven, I deserve this. And Jake is like Hell yeah you do! You fucking knew! -swears in Spanish- then tugs her up and kisses her to thank her for getting him out of that coffin

Marc: you knew and it's a statement that draws silence from Steven who's watching shell shocked

OC: yeah really don't have time Marc! Horrow, Amit? Ring a bell.

Marc: explain

OC: fuck fuck fuck! Just wanted the two of you -points to Marc and Steven- to get along!

Marc scoffs

OC: not like you'd tell anyone about your past Marc glares harshly (if looks could kill ...)

Steven: she's got a point mate Marc glares at Steven (softer, more offended than hateful) Jakes just watching and observing

OC: and Steven, you're more on the sciencey side,you needed to 'see' to believe. This time everyone's face were blank while staring at her, sighing heavily while her hand pulled her face down,  look if it helps Konsu has no idea how I know, though he did call me 'young one'

Tawebet: -squeals loudly- oh my gosh! A young one how many millennia has it been?! Oh we need to celebrate! Oh this is precious! Oh my, you're one of besets newest kittens arn't you!? She coos

OC: -blushes harshly- Tebby no the time! -turns to the boys- we gotta get back I already got konshu out, so your body should heal nicely

Marc: not until

OC: look we don't have time for this! I swear on my godly title you going or what ever -Tawebet gasps in horror- that I'll tell you, All of you -she pointedly looks to all three of her boys- hell I'll even through Ol' Grandpa Caw Caw in there two, but let's go!

The three choke while Jake and Marc look at eachother and silently agree to call Konsu that

Before all three of them are pushed out.

Tawebet on OC talk a bit, the OC god portals her way out

Layla gets to be Tawebet temp avatar to fight and seal Amit. (Besset avatar on a mother mission elsewhere, maybe helping Tony stark 3rd movie since OC likes Tony and knows he goes through hell and would need comfort and Besset is a mother so comfort a child future friend? Sure maybe the avatar and Tony get together by accident, since they both go through a lot and avatar would feel better giving comfort and accepts Tony for Tony and doesn't nag him for company stuff or army stuff (sorry people and roads you Were good friends but Tony isn't your top priority, which he needs) and hey maybe if someone was by his side it'd prevent the Ultron fiasco )

So big fight against Horrow and crew, OC fights kitty style again, but ends up more protecting the citizens and kids. Crew laughs and goes oh what's a kitty kitty gonna do? And OC protecting 5 yr old is like Roar! Me! And gets shocked she roared before throwing that thought out, turned out kitty became Tiger/ lion and attacked shocking many only for OC to spit out the human and speak in English, Ugh! Blae blae humans nasty!! That fucker was a smoker! -some guy down the way is quickly scribbling notes that Tiger/ lions hate eating human smokers and it's now a repellent.- Jake would be laughing but he's concentrating on the fight, his lips twitch though and will tease the hell out of her for it later

Amit gets sealed, Marc and Steven are near shocked konshu doesn't demand Amit and Horrows death, Jake just glances at OC who winks and mouths later (godlings can see the reflections now so shut up)

Stuff happens, safe now so OC explains this is her second life and mentions this 'au' is a fantasy world be movie or book she doesn't know but that's how she knew, goes into this big teasing every body since every body has fans Marc, Steven, Jake, Layla ,konshu laughs at their expressions only to be told he's got plenty too, she's pretty sure Caw Caw has smut too, which shuts him up

Saint and Crystal Associations Part 2

Once again, I’m posting this as a potential resource for other Christian witches or Christian mystics (whatever you call yourself). These are my own personal associations, not official associations of any Christian denominations, so if they don’t feel right for you feel free to use different crystals with different saints. Thanks and enjoy.

Saint Francis of Assisi --> Amber

Francis is best associated with Amber. While not technically a crystal it still is used in a lot of crystal magic. Francis is a very complex saint who helps with a lot of different things: voluntary poverty, helping the poor, antiwar, and oneness with nature. Amber is very old and connected deeply to the earth. It helps with grounding, clarity, patience, wisdom, dissolves negativity, eliminates fear, and balances emotions. All things Francis needed to leave his life of privilege behind and follow God. I think it represents much of who Francis is and can help support the same virtues that Francis represents. 

Saint Brigid --> Opal

St. Brigid would be associated with Opal. Brigid is a saint that is very connected to the goddess Brigid. Their stories are extremely intertwined that you can’t really talk about without the other. Both are connected to fire, love, and hope and that’s all things Opal is connected with as well. I also personally tend to associate Opal with the divine feminine and Brigid connection to a goddess makes that work as well.

Saint Julian of Norwich --> Moonstone

Julian of Norwich I said in a comment that I associated with Lapis Lazuli but then relaized I was already using that crystal with St. Perpetua and Felicity. So I did some more research and decided that Moonstone would work really well for Saint Julian of Norwich. Moonstone is obviously associated with Lunar magick and the moon is also regularly associated with femimine energy. Which works wonders with St. Julian who often depicted God as femimine. One of the things that made her contraversal. St. Julian of Norwich had visions and was a prolific writer. Moonstone helps those seeking wisdom and strengthens psychic abilities. St. Julian of Norwich is also a known cat lover so have moonstone carved into the shape of a cat is even better. 

Saint Mary MacKillop --> Obsidian

(Trigger Warning Mentions of sexual abuse in this.)

Mary MacKillop is the first saint of Australia and one of my favorites! Mary MacKillop reported a priest who was abusing children and not longer after a friend of this priest used his connections to get her excommunicated. Her excommunication was eventually lifted. I have always admired her strength and resilience. That’s why I chose obsidian for her. Obsidian shines a light on the negativity and clears it away, helping us to choose the path leading towards light and love. It is also a protective stone as it used to be used for weapons. If you need to fight the devil obsidian is up there with tourmaline as an excellent crystal to clean house.     

Saint Raphael the Archangel --> Ametrine

St. Raphael the Archangel is another favorite of mine. If you use a Protestant Bible you might not have read about him. Raphael is featured in the Book of Tobit which is only in Catholic and Orthodox Bibles. The Book of Tobit is an epic love story between Tobias and Sarah that also features thievery, exile, and fights with demons. Where Michael and Gabriel tend to appear to humans briefly then leave. Raphael, disguised as a human, travels with Tobias throughout the whole book. Raphael is most associated with healing and I connect him to the crystal ametrine. Ametrine is associated with healing, harmony, strength, balancing physical and spiritual life, and aids in contacting spirit guides. This works with Raphael’s connections to healing. Furthermore, Raphael’s role guiding Tobit and being a spiritual being working on earth makes ametrine perfect in helping to connect with him. Use this stone and ask him to help find balance in your practice and assist you with finding spiritual guides.

Saint Rita --> Smoky Quartz

St. Rita is the patron saint of impossible tasks. She is someone I rely on when I really need to overcome an obstacle or problem in my life. She is also prayed to when someone has a deadly illness or serious problem helping with things that seem impossible to deal with is just her jam. Because of this I associate her most with smoky quartz. This crystal is super powerful and is a great grounding and balancing stone. It absorbs negative energy like a sponge (because of this it should be cleansed often-ish use your best judgement). It’s so useful and can even cleanse other crystals. It keeps all the negativity away from you which is something that one really needs when dealing with impossible situations.

Saint Mary Magdalene --> Celestite

Mary Magdalene is one of my favorite witchy women in the Bible. She wasn’t scared away like the other disciples when Christ was crucified, she was the first to preach about the resurrection, and was active in preaching and teaching others about Christ. One of my favorite stories about her comes from the Orthodox tradition where she was preaching to Emperor Tiberius Caesar about Christ and turned an egg red to prove to the emperor that Christ’s story and power was true. I associate Mary Magdalene most with Celestite. Celestite raises spiritual vibrations, promotes spiritual growth, and aides in communication with the spiritual realm. This crystal also boosts self-worth and self-expression, all things Mary Magdalene had in abundance. Mary Magdalene also seems to be the most connected to the spiritual world out of all the apostles (with the exception of maybe John) so this crystal is perfect for her.

Saint Joan of Arc --> Bloodstone 

St. Joan is a warrior and protector. I also consider her a trans and/or genderfluid saint who will naturally protect trans and genderfluid peoples. Because of this I associate her most with bloodstone. Bloodstone promotes justice and strength, it is also good for healing and renewal, but bloodstone is probably best known for boosting spells and banishing spirits. Or as I prefer to use it, boosting protection spells and banishing TERFs.

Saint Francis de Sales --> Kyanite

St. Francis de Sales is one of my favorite saints purely because he is the patron saint of writers and I am someone who greatly enjoys writing. Kyanite is the crystal I use with this saint. It promotes creativity and also dispels negativity aka those negative thoughts that tell you that you can’t write. It’s also supposed to sharpen your focus which can be especially helpful with writing or any creative work, especially if you are easily distracted like me.

Saint Anthony of Padua --> Amazonite

St. Anthony was one of my grandmother’s favorite saints and probably the saint I use the most in day to day life. He is the patron saint of lost items. He was a devout priest and taught students from a book of psalms. He once tried to preach to people who refused to listen to him. He instead decided to preach to the fish who all started to gather near the shore to listen to him. When people saw this they decided they should listen too. So you know when in doubt preach to fish I guess. Anyway, I associate St. Anthony with amazonite. Amazonite helps sharpen the mind, aids communication and promotes good luck all of which are great attributes for learning and teaching, finding lost items (that’s the good luck bit), and aiding communication could help you talk to people or fish, your call. 

Saint Valentine --> Rose Quartz 

St. Valentine did a lot but he is most associated today with marrying couples in the Christian church during the height of Roman persecution. So naturally I associate him with rose quartz, a crystal that promotes love and fertility, dispels loneliness, opens the heart to compassion, and even strengthens faith. The perfect stone for this romantic saint. 

Saint Scholastica --> Citrine 

St. Scholastica was the twin sister of St. Benedict, and was the founder of the women’s benedictine order. As someone who went to a benedictine college I have a fondness for her. If you are a storm witch in particular I think this might be the saint for you. At one point Benedict and his monks visit Scholastica and her nuns. Scholastica didn’t think she would live long enough to see her brother again after this meeting so begged him to stay the night, but Benedict didn’t want to spend the night outside his monastery and told her he couldn’t. So Scholastica prayed and a massive thunderstorm suddenly came making it unsafe for Benedict and his monks to travel. And here is my favorite bit:

“Realizing what had happened, Benedict reproached her: "What have you done, my sister?” Scholastica answered simply, "I asked a favor of you, and you refused to listen to me. So I asked my God, and He, more generous than you, granted my request.” Once again Scholastica’s pleas won the favor she was seeking.” 

With Scholastica I associate the crystal citrine. Citrine is all about manifesting change, protection, creativity, and success all things she needed to live the life she did.

Saint Dymphna --> Blue Lace Agate

St. Dymphna is one of my favorite saints and she is one I utilize often. She is most associated with mental and emotional illnesses. If you are a spoonie witch this is the saint for you. Because of this I associate her most with Blue Lace Agate, which helps people express themselves (helpful when going to therapy or a doctor) and also helps with dealing with any sorts of fears or anxiety. (Reminder: That utilizing this saint and crystal is meant as a prayerful way to ask for help dealing with mental and emotional illness. It is not a replacement for therapy or meds.)

St. Sara-la-Kali --> Jasper

St. Sara-la-Kali is the patroness of the Romani people. She is said to have helped the Three Marys of the Bible arrive safely in Gaul after she had a vision of them arriving. She used her dress as a raft and helped the women get to shore despite the tumultuous waves. She was also extremely generous and often collected alms for the poor. I associate her most with jasper. A crystal native to Romania it aids in peace and wisdom and also is particularly helpful during times of transition by providing stability and protection. It also supports perseverance and acceptance, something we definitely need Sara's help with right now.

Before Leon left for the GKND, he renamed his middle name after his best friend and the one who not only brought him to the KND but also helped save him from his abusive aunt and was also an entertainment partner, Amourette Martinez Rose (Numbuh pastel)

Leon is a hybrid of a cat and an angler fish (his mom was a cat and his dad was an angler fish)

The stripe patters on Leon’s fur as well as his eyes can glow in the dark (on command) or whenever he’s feeling a strong emotion of love or happiness

Leon has a beast form (he got it from his mom) and he can turn into it when he feels a strong feeling of rage but in the future he learns to control it and even turn into his beast form on command.

Leon has claws and he uses them as a way to attack his enemies

Leon loves fairy lights. Everybody always assumes neon is his top favorite but it’s actually fairy lights (although he still loves neon lights as well)

It’s harder to earn Leon’s trust than you think. A lot of times whenever an operative will first meet Leon, Leon usually gives them a glare and sometimes even a growl telling them: “Don’t think you can boss me around for a second. I’ll tear you apart using my own claws.” (This is caused due to fear of being taken advantage of like he had been on his home planet)

Leon either just growls at anyone he’s unfamiliar with and ignores them but sometimes he can be rude as well

But once you earn Leon’s trust and you become close to him, he’s almost like a completely different person compared to the first time you met him.

Leon suffers PTSD from the abuse from his aunt and has nightmares almost every night to the point that Leon does whatever he can to avoid sleep. This problem eventually gets fixed.

sksks get ready for a lot of oc brain rot i feel like i’ve been sitting on my oc content for years and i will slowly dump it all here but i am genuinely excited that y'all wanna hear about em. and yea i’m sticking with just far cry oc’s for now

Obvi i got my main bro caleb from far cry 5, the link here explains him a hell of a lot more and he’s probably my most developed character cause i’ve worked on him since 2018 or whenever the game came out. but he’s basically my dep (and where i got my username from) so he’s your typical average white guy but he’s the gentle giant, tough but emotional kind of guy. I also have another oc who is his sister and she ends up as the captain in new dawn, i named her eleanor or ellie and they're the badass nelson siblings i guess.

Now i feel hella excited about my FC6 oc’s cause they’re new n fresh and i love em to bits >:))) but i’m still workin’ on all of them so they aren’t complete of course

The first one is Manuel ‘Manny’ Suárez Landaverde and he’s an FND soldier who starts off as a medic because he loves helping people (and lowkey a victim of all of castillo’s propaganda) but he ends up getting promoted through the ranks to special forces as a sniper for his skills. I haven’t really decided if he will defect and it would be cool to make him a double agent or he turns completely to libertad or another faction of the resistance but I've mostly just been working on his personality.

He’s totally soft and shy as hell, definitely doesn’t socialise well with the other soldiers at parties (but i kinda wanna give him a grouchy fnd boyfriend too idk) and he’s got a very cosy apartment in esperanza before he moves into the special forces block in barrial. Think like lots of windows, house plants, some cool art from zenia and he definitely has a cat.

Manny is like the precious cinnamon roll meme but could kill you, he’s just over protective of those he loves but mostly he just wants to use his skills to save lives and mainly is stationed at outposts or accompanies special forces rather than actually being a full blown soldier.  But I don't have his backstory worked out yet or how to write him into the canon timeline.

The second is my weirdly specific but probably all time favourite Yulia Dmitrievna Mikhaylov. That’s her Russian name but once she immigrated to Yara, the Russian ‘Yulia’ became the latin ‘Julia’. She’s very much a historical character (because she’s born in 1882) because I wanted her to be like an old loving grandma by the time the first revolution came around in ‘67. I’m keeping it short and sweet here since I have like a whole ass essay on her in my drafts but she basically moves to Esperanza with her husband (think the whole soviet cuban missile crisis) because her husband is a military officer and she’s this badass spy.

Julia is like the stone cold old Russian lady who gets pissed at the FND if they bother her in town but she absolutely adores her family members to bits (and I'm currently working on her mother, father and husband who will mostly be based in Russia). 

She’s the product of two ideas basically; the first i wanted to have juan’s backstory (since ubisoft the bastards didn’t give us one) and i also wanted to have like a russian spy oc so i combined the two.

The reason why she’s gotta be old is not only to fit the historical time period of soviet influence in cuba and hence fictional yara but she ends up being a small 8 year old juan’s found family since that’s my favourite trope. I did a rough timeline of events and the closest age I can pinpoint Juan is around 73ish, like 1949 DOB.

This is important bc Julia’s husband passes away so she gets lonely and when she meets juan who’s still in an orphanage in esperanza by this point she takes him under his wing and reads him her husband’s old russian spy novels, comics, teaches him to read in russian and so on bc this is how i figured he’d get all his influence to later work for the KGB and go on to be the infamous spymaster and such.

Basically she teaches a smol juan to be an evil little shit (affectionate) and so i nicknamed her “grandma cortez” and if you read the hidden histories ‘The Cabinet of Dr.Medico - Issue #3’ which is one of Juan's comics. It's super heartfelt so she calls him “little Juanito” like the letter and it’s just core memories and found family for everyone.

I will post more about her cause i love her to bits but she’s basically juan’s badass spy grandma who's got a bunch of stories from her days and she’s partially her own cool character and my excuse to write juan’s backstory since ubisoft didn’t do it.

And finally my latest oc actually doesn’t have a name yet but she’s an oluwa goddess and i’m basing her off the tirada treasures and lore, the supremo + weapons + outfit and oluso. 

i also haven't decided on a look yet, hence the two almost identical ones (i'm also conscious of trying to portray her in a way that doesn't feel overly sexual/exotic/mythical) whilst basing her look of oluso with the glowing eyes and all the symbols from the treasure hunts so she's very underdeveloped

I really want her to be like a myth in yara and an old legend so she’s gonna be thousands of years old. I have to credit @juskru for giving me such a cool idea to tie her in with the legends of 67 and specifically lucky

Her powers are definitely going to be of healing properties but she used to be much stronger. Before she could take life and death willingly and was kind of the lifeline to all living things in yara but she’s been weakened by wars and particularly when McKay Global started exploiting resources and land she can only heal wounds or injuries (and is very drained afterwards).

Even though she’s not as powerful, people still pray to her and the other Triada and I really like the idea that the Oluwa blessings are asking her to protect family members or to heal soldiers or guerrilla’s after a fight.

@juskru gave me the amazing idea to have her teach Lucky how to heal and give the basics of medicine and that’s why she’s the Legend’s top combat medic. That’s why I want to tie her story into the revolution of 67 and it reignites some of the Triada religion which the Castillo’s have historically tried to ban and suppress.

I definitely want to do more with her and the others but i’m far from finished with all of them :))))))) hope ya'll enjoy these as much as i enjoy hyperfixating lmao
