Just thinking of after everything, cain getting a cat and just,, trying to apologize by sending wren and Zander photos of his cat,,,
Aww cain sending Andrew pictures of his cat to show his wife and kids(?i think he has kids right?)
Cain is not allowed to contact Wren unless absolutely necessary BUT. Zander does kind of appreciate the cat photos. I think he sees a notification from Cain and he’s like “Oh what the fuck does he want now- OH IT’S CHEDDAR :D”. It is no secret he likes Cain’s cat more than he likes Cain-
Andrew does have one daughter and then a pet he rescued who they’re taking care of now who is basically his son now. Or he will be anyway. Andrew is just happy to get pictures from Cain that aren’t “hey does this injury I inflicted look really bad-“ and his wife and daughter only remember Cain as being really kind and polite to them whenever they had to interact so now he’s also Andrew’s friend with the cute cat which is. Probably the best reputation he could have.

How do you think Arthur Morgan would react to a reader who has a great connection with animals? The reader knows how to calm animals, from horses to pigs and chickens, she also ensures that the animals have a good food and she will always be seen with a cat or a dog in her arms.

┊ ˚➶ notes 。˚ 🎼
this request was sooo cute!! sorry it took me a little while to complete it, i’ve been working on like fifteen different drafts at once !! 💗
┊ ˚➶ warnings 。˚ 🎼
mentions of animals ( dogs, cats, horses ), mentions of arthur getting bucked off of his horse 😭, intended lowercase, lmk if i missed anything!!
. ˚◞♡ ⃗ *ೃ༄ . ˚◞♡ ⃗ *ೃ༄ . ˚◞♡ ⃗ *ೃ༄ . ˚◞♡ ⃗ *ೃ༄
❥ let me start this off by saying that i think arthur would literally adore you and your presence. like, he already thinks you’re such a beautiful lady and that you’re amazing within your own, but seeing you so domestic with animals does something to him.
❥ arthur’s lived a hard life, he’s calloused and struggles with letting himself enjoy some of the nicer moments in life alone. but when he finds you, it feels like all of the toughness that everybody sees melts away. all he wants is you, and now that’s he’s experienced the feeling of you, he never wants to let that go
❥ if you have a more curt and blunt nature to yourself, but you just melt around animals? oh, man— he’ll do anything to see that side of you. whenever it slips out and he sees you care so much for the horses or actually supply them with hay bales and proper necessities, his eyes will always follow you curiously
❥ and even if you’re a super sweet and outwardly kind person, he’ll still adore you!! he thinks it’s cute how you care so much for animals even if he wont say it to you, he has a fondness for animals too— except it’s more so updating his compendium and hunting them rather than taking them under his wing and feeding them 😭
❥ if you have a dog, he will love that baby to death let me tell you. doesn’t matter if they’re mangy or a mutt or even purebred, he will love them regardless. if we’re going based off what dogs you can get in rdo, i think he’d get along with a chill bigger dog— but even if your dog was energetic or more on guard like a chesapeake bay retriever or a labrador retriever, he will still adore them. i can just imagine arthur with a little guard dog by his side walking through camp as it follows him everywhere. having a dog will probably make him remember his old dog copper as he tells you tales of his journeys with him at night while rubbing your dog behind the ear as it lays its head on his lap.
❥ arthur’s not really a cat person but he won’t mind if you have one!! cats are very independent and he understands that so he’ll give them their space until one day they just like.. drape themselves over his lap and he has no idea what to do. he feels bad if he stands up but like.. he doesn’t know what else to do 😭
❥ and while i’m writing this i’m thinking of how in the game, micah would literally kick the crap out of cain in rdr2 and would scold him for no reason :(((. let me just say that arthur would literally not stand for that ( and yes i only write for high honor arthur, but i feel like regardless of his honor he wouldn’t be okay with it either way ). also why am i imagining micah getting bit or scratched and arthur just like laughing at him— like even him and your animal share a look because do you see this utter buffoonery? micah’s more of an animal than anyone if we’re being honest
❥ if you don’t like seeing him hunt or watching him skin animals, then he’ll suggest you turn away or he’ll point out something in the distance ( probably another cute animal prancing around or something ), and if it’s something small like a rabbit or a bird then it’ll be done in no time and he’ll redirect your attention back to him, jumping back on his horse and saying you guys should continue on with your journey
❥ if you need him to stop by to get any necessities or food for the animals at camp, he’ll stop by on his way back and get them the proper things they need. if you thank him, he’ll just brush it off and say it’s no problem— ( he was like two counties away but he’d gladly go back if you needed him to do so ).
❥ in summary, i feel like arthur would do really great with a partner with pets or a love for animals in general. he doesn’t get the fascination too much but he’ll support you nonetheless, as long as you don’t get hurt trying to pet something that looks cute when it’s not lmfao.
❥ holy crap i need jelp whyisa rthjrorhajgan so fne

“shh.. calm down, boy.” with your hands held out cautiously, you slowly approached ARTHUR’s bucking horse— the tennessee walker’s chestnut coat glimmering in the sun as it shone on its back. its alarmed neighs filled the air with only the distant rushing of water to accompany it, along with arthur’s huffs behind you as he caught his breath.
“‘s alright.” you cooed at the horse, waiting until its breaths slowed down slightly before you moved closer. your arms slowly extended out to reach his snout, his eyes widened and looking everywhere but you. you softly shushed as you halted your movements. your hand hovered over the white of his proboscis before finally placing a gentle hand on its nose, feeling its heavy breathing upon your arm.
“i still dont— fff.. get how you.. do ‘at.” arthur wheezed, bent over with his knees supporting him as he placed firm hands on them. he let out a breathy laugh, tipping his head up so you could catch a glimpse of his eyes under the brim of his hat. “i dunno what he even gotten spooked over.” he shook his head, watching as you pulled out a small carrot from your pocket and carefully fed it to his horse who munched on it in delight.
you didn’t pay him a glance as you were enveloped in the tenessee walker instead, smiling as you replied, “probably just somethin’ in the grass.”
“fair ‘nuff.” he shrugged, brushing himself off before placing a hand on his back while he winced. arthur sucked some air between clenched teeth as he struggled to stand upright. “think he got somethin’ in my back, too.” with a string of muttered curses, he hunched over once again.
your head turned this time, still focused on giving small pats to the horse’s nose as you tilted your head. brows furrowed, you asked, “need me to get you something from outta town?”
“naw, ‘s fine—“
“arthur, i was heading out that way already,” you pointed a thumb behind you— leading his vision to your horse stationary in the distance, tapping its hooves against the ground as it waited. he looked back at you as you held a gentle smile on your face and continued, “i don’t mind stoppin’ for something.”
arthur sighed, his fingers still kneading his lower back as he let out an occasional groan.
he let the silence take hold on the situation for a second, contemplating his options. letting his fingers twist and grab at the grass beneath him— his eyes flickered between the two horses, and then finally back to you. realizing it wouldn’t make a difference and you’d probably get it anyway, he waved a dismissive hand around and finally nodded his head.
“yeah, sure.”

what will happen if they meet? (u can add any plots and things u wanna add)
*thanks if u are uncomfortable u can decline*!
Ooo I’ve finally got an ask! Sorry, I’m quite late with this. Hope short scenarios will be okay!
consumed by jealousy once again.
Yandere Scp073 x fem reader
Warnings: obsession, implied stalking, corruption, pessimistic thoughts, insecurities, mentions of murder, jealousy
*not proofread, please do notify me if I have missed out a warning, might add some things after posting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How did you both first meet? “…”
• Cain is quite the desirable lad. He’s polite, well-mannered and crosses his legs when seated. Time has carved wisdom into the cadavers of his body; he speaks with many words he’s memorized from dictionaries and occasionally mixes up phrases from different languages.
• When you first met Cain, your sweet and kind nature allured him. He became.. curious, so to speak. Strangely obsessed with admiring you while you’d work with people. Becoming a tad bit jealous when your attention wasn't fixated upon himself. He wouldn't let these thoughts come to light. Not now anyways.
•Always, Cain offered a helping hand. Did you need any assistance carrying that heavy bag? Or perhaps you wanted a glass of water? You could always see him at your service, watching your skilled hands heal others with a passion.
How much time did it take?
“…”
• It had taken him a few months to develop feelings. Cain first believed it was a wonder, why hadn't you excluded him from your table where you would sit? Did you not find his voice uncanny?
•He had only adored you even more after that.
• He had once asked what your occupation in the foundation was, what the foundation declared your function as a cog in one of their elaborate machines. This was the depressing reality. Cain had learned not to question it. They had stuffed his mind full of knowledge to the point he swore it snapped at times, piece by piece.
• Although he had his own mental burdens, Cain would never place them upon you. Endearing innocent soul, let him kiss you to death.
Does his emotions remind him of any past experiences?
“…”
• Cain loathes the feeling of jealousy consuming his heart, it reminded him of a very dark time. Where he had slaughtered his brother out of the same envy he experiences now, just desiring to be injured in any shape or form so he could feel your fingers blessing his cold, still-beating heart and not some guard or doctor undeserving of your touch.
• A rational part of his mind was disgusted at his concerning thoughts. He justified it with a wild vigour.
How would he show his undying love?
“…”
• Sometimes you’d find plastic flowers tucked away in various places, they were always crimson-coloured Morning Glorys and Black roses with sloppy red paint in the shape of a heart. You had giggled and suspected Cain. Though you had never confirmed your thoughts with the man himself. Darling, Sweetheart Cain. Made of sugar and liquorice.
• Every time you discovered your bouquet of flowers, you noticed the hearts had been painted less messily and with more ease, the streaks of red paint precise and pristine.
• Cain felt awkward at the thought of confessing his ever-growing feelings for you. He would only admire you. How your face looked when you smiled, how you rambled about Josie the half-cat’s fluffy pelt and the most adored feature of yours, the way you’d praise him when he did a good job.
•Don’t ever let yourself think he’s going to let such a precious flower like you wilt in his needy grasp.

where reader sees that ellie starts to hang around with dina more and less with you, feels insecure and thats when ellie notices that there's something off abt r and decides to confront r, which leads to a confession from r .. 💗 tysm!
“is there someone who has your heart, that keeps you gone, away from me?”
pairing: ellie x reader
summary/warnings: tlou au, jealous reader, pining, confessing feelings, fluff
hi sweet, i’m good thanks hope you’re okay too!
you and ellie had clicked pretty instantly when you joined the commune and had been best friends ever since. you shared everything together and knew each other like the back of your hand, which is why it hurt so much when all of a sudden she seemed to be spending less time with you and more time with dina.
you loved dina, of course you did, she was your friend too. but it twisted a knife in you every time you saw her with ellie, laughing and talking like you used to. dina was also naturally a very affectionate person meaning she was always hugging ellie or touching her arm and you could never tell if it was just the way dina was or if there was something going on between them.
even if it was the latter you knew you shouldn’t be jealous. if ellie had found happiness you wanted that for her, especially after her messy relationship with cat. but if she had, why hadn’t she told you? and if you were being completely honest with yourself, you wanted to be the one ellie fell for.
your feelings for your best friend had snuck up on you. one day you were meeting up with her and upon seeing her had this aching urge to kiss her, take her hand, tell her how you felt. maybe these feelings had been brewing silently behind the scenes for a while but it felt like it had hit you like a ton of bricks.
that was about a month ago and you had made an effort to keep it to yourself and not risk ruining anything. but maybe you had by mistake? why else would she be acting distant from you. it’s not like you never hung out anymore but the tension had changed slightly. in fact you were having a movie night with her tonight at your place. oh yeah, and with dina. you’d considered cancelling but curiosity to see what they’d be like around each other was eating you alive. you had to see even if it hurt.
the tv was the only thing glowing in the dark room as you sat on the couch, ellie in between you and dina. all three of you had your legs stretched out resting on the coffee table. you felt insane for micro-analysing the situation. was ellie sat closer to you or dina? did she lean into her more when she laughed at something? ellie’s foot suddenly knocked yours as she shifted their position.
“sorry.”
“it’s okay.”
christ, i’m pathetic, you thought as that accidental foot tap caused butterflies to erupt in your stomach. you continued watching the movie with your arms folded, occasionally reaching over to grab some of the snacks. suddenly the two of them burst out laughing at something in the movie that you must have missed and you looked over to see dina’s head on ellie’s shoulder and ellie looking down at her briefly before looking back at the screen, a huge humorous grin across her face. you couldn’t help the sigh that left you as you excused yourself to the bathroom. you didn’t see how ellie’s eyes followed you out of the room, her grin fading.
“um, i’ll be right back,” ellie mumbled, brushing crumbs off her hoodie as she stood up.
you jumped when you opened the bathroom door to leave and found her standing there. you prayed she hadn’t been there long otherwise she might have heard the pep talk you’d actually been doing in there.
“shit, you scared me.”
“sorry.”
assuming she was just wanting to use the bathroom you awkwardly smiled and brushed past her.
“wait.”
you stopped and turned to look at the careful look she had in her eyes.
“did i do something?”
“what do you mean?”
“well, i don’t know i feel like you’ve been acting weird around me lately.”
you wanted to scoff.
“i haven’t been acting weird.”
“oh come on,” she looked at you, expecting you to correct yourself.
“what? i haven’t.”
“you just seem like i’ve pissed you off or something.”
you sighed and paused before speaking. “well, i thought you were acting weird around me and i don’t know what i’ve done.”
“me? you haven’t done anything.”
“then why is there this distant tension thing happening between us? what’s changed!?”
her expression changed and she looked like she’d been caught or something.
“we’re not distant.”
“ellie… we used to talk about everything and now i feel like you spend more time with dina than me.” you immediately regretted saying it.
“am i not supposed to hang out with dina? i thought you were friends.”
“we are and you can, i didn’t mean that i meant, fuck. i just meant it feels like you’re pulling away from me but if you like her or something then i’m sorry for bringing it u–“
“woah woah, i don’t like her? what gave you that idea? and why…” her voice trailed off.
you froze.
“why would you care if i did?”
“i wouldn’t,” you shot out a bit too quickly.
“tell me.”
“no, it’s nothing! forget i said anything.”
“i know when you’re lying,” she said, taking a step towards you.
you sighed. “fine. i like you, ellie. as in more than a friend.”
the corners of her mouth twitched upwards but she cleared her throat to compose herself.
“why didn’t you tell me before?”
“it’s not an easy thing to confess,” you said, starting to feel like an idiot. a smile broke out on her lips.
“what?” you prodded, scowling slightly.
“i’m glad you told me.”
“okay…”
“i like you too.” your knee buckled a little.
“what?”
“i like you.”
“then why the fuck did you stop talking to me?!” her face switched back to panic for a split second before she grabbed your hands.
“i freaked out, i’m sorry. i wasn’t thinking. but i’m not fucking with you, i swear.”
you studied her face. you caught her eyes sneak a glance at your lips briefly.
“okay, i believe you.”
her freckled cheeks blushed and her eyes squinted as she smiled.
“so… can i kiss you?” she whispered.
“yes,” you whispered back.
she softly lifted your chin and placed a kiss on your lips whilst your hands found her waist.
“what’s taking so lo– oh fucking finally!” dina’s laugh snapped you two apart and you covered your mouth with your hand, slightly embarrassed at getting caught.
“as happy as i am for you both, you’re missing the best part of the movie. hurry up.”
dina disappeared back into the living room and you and ellie looked at each other. you had nothing to worry about after all.

You threw your bag down as you entered the bunker, exhausted from your last hunt. This was one of the rare cases where you worked alone.
Sometimes you needed the time to yourself, away from all the men. Sometimes you would go hunting with Jody and Claire, but even then, those two argued like cats and dogs.
"Y/N," Jack smiled as you entered the kitchen. "How was the hunt?"
"It was pretty good, actually." You grinned as you sat across from him. "I was chasing down this werewolf in Tennessee, and it was really strange. He'd kill one person, turn the next, and repeat that cycle."
"That's. . . Weird." He furrowed his eyebrows.
"That's what I said. Well," You continued on with the story of your hunt, watching as Jack's eyes widened in amazement and awe.
"Y/N?" Dean called your name, entering the kitchen. "Hey, sweetheart. I didn't know you were home?"
You stood up, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "Sorry, babe. I got sidetracked. I was just telling Jack about my trip." You smiled, looking over at the boy. You were concerned, as the smile fell from his face and he looked away from you and Dean. "You okay, kid?"
"Yeah," He nodded, not meeting your eye. "I'll give you two some space." He mumbled as he walked out of the kitchen.
"Does he seem off to you?" You asked Dean.
"Nah, he acts like he usually does. Squirrelly and weird."
"Says the squirrel himself." You rolled your eyes. "Did something happen while I was gone?"
Dean said nothing as he looked down, an obvious indicator that he was guilty of something. "Dean," You growled lowly. "Did you say something to Jack? Something that would upset him somehow?"
When Dean didn't give you an answer, you shook your head as you follow Jack to his room.
"Jack." You called out. He seemed to be lost in thought, as he didn't react to your words. "Jack!" You said louder, causing him to turn around. There was a tiny amount of fear in his eyes. If you didn't know him, it wouldn't have affected you.
"What's wrong?" You asked softly, resting your hand on his shoulder.
"Nothing." He spoke. "Why would anything be wrong?"
"Jack, I saw how you reacted when Dean came in. You looked like a kicked puppy. Don't tell me it's nothing, kiddo."
In the time you had known Jack, you had grown to care for him deeply. You had always wanted kids, but in this life, it wasn't possible. Well, it was, but you knew you didn't want your children to do what you do. So when Jack was born, you felt extremely happy because it felt like you finally had a child. Albeit, he did look twenty.
"Dean doesn't like me very much." He admitted.
"I'm sure that's not true. . ." You argued weakly. In all honesty, you didn't think Dean liked Jack either. It's not like he was abusive, but he did treat him differently than everyone else.
"But it is, Y/N."
"How do you know, Jack? With Dean, it takes him time to warm up to people. It took him months to actually trust me. He's a cautious person."
"Did he threaten you too?" Jack asked, genuinely curious. His head was tilted to the side, his honey blonde hair falling into his eyes. He had gotten that head tilt from Cas.
"Dean. . . Threatened you?" You whispered hoarsely.
"Yes," He nodded. "He told me if I hurt you or Sam, or anyone, that he would be the one to hunt me down and kill me."
Your mouth popped open in horror. You could never imagine your sweet, loveable, goofy Dean threatening Jack. "What else did he say, Jack? Did he say anything prior to this?"
"He said that he doesn't think that I can be saved. He said that even though you and Sam think that I can, that he doesn't."
"Jack, you don't need to be saved. There is no saving to do. You are a good kid. You would never do anything to intentionally hurt anyone. I'm so sorry. I should have been there." You sigh.
"He's not wrong, Y/N. I can't be saved. What if I turn out like my father, my real father."
You frowned as you cupped his face in your hands. "Jack, you are nothing, and I mean nothing, like Lucifer. You are just like your mother. You are sweet, caring, and you are empathetic. Just like Kelly."
"You really believe that?" He whispered, tears forming in his eyes.
"No, I don't believe it, Jack. I know it. You are nothing like Lucifer. If anything, you are much more like Castiel."
"Really?" He smiled.
"Yeah," You nodded. "You see, I don't know if you know this, but Cas does this little thing where he tilts his head to the side if he doesn't understand something or if he's perplexed. And I noticed that you do the same thing." Jack's smile widened as you removed your hands from his face. "And neither of you have any knowledge of pop culture. Even though Cas was here for a lot longer than you, he never understood a single reference any of us made. Even if it was something like Scooby Doo." You giggled, feeling your throat tightening at the thought of your dead friend. "And you two state the obvious a lot. Not in a bad way, more in a comedic way. It lightens the mood nearly every time. Cas would rarely smile. When I asked him why, he would say that the world was going to hell and he didn't have anything to smile about. But when he did smile, it would make everyone else smile with him. The same goes for you. Just seeing that little toothy grin of yours makes me smile. I mean hell, you two even look a lot alike."
"Could you tell me more about him?" Jack asked.
"Of course, but I have something to take care of first. Then you and I will cuddle up and watch a movie and I'll tell you everything you want to know about Cas, okay?"
"Yeah, I'd like that." He spoke. "Before you go, could I ask you something?" You nodded. "If I were to have a mother figure, and I called her mom, do you think my mother would be upset?"
"No, sweetheart, I don't think she would be upset. I think that she would be happy that there's someone down here taking care of you and you feel comfortable enough to call them mom." You said, completely oblivious as to what Jack was suggesting.
"Then. . . Could I call you mom?"
You felt the air leave your lungs as his words hit you like a truck. Jack watched as tears welled up in your eyes. Jack was horrified; he had never meant to make you cry. "Yo-you want to call me m-mom?" You stammer.
"If you're not comfortable with it I understand. I'm sorry, Y/N, I-"
You cut him off with a tight embrace. "Of course you can call me mom." You whisper, squeezing the boy tightly.
"Why are you crying?" He questioned.
"These are happy tears, Jack. I'm not upset. It's just. . . I never thought that I would have children, but then you came along, and you gave me what I wanted. You gave me a chance to be a mother."
"Thank you for being here for me, mom."
You gave Jack a huge smile as you pulled away. "Okay," You said, putting a hand on his arm. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to deal with my ass of a husband."
---
"Dean Winchester," You boomed, roaming around the bunker in search for your husband.
"Ooooh, you're in trouble." You hear Sam snicker.
"But I didn't do anything. Wait, what day is it?" Dean asked frantically.
"April ninth." Sam quipped.
"Okay, no birthday, no anniversary, so there's that."
You entered The Dean Cave, as Dean called it, seeing red. "What the hell, Winchester." You growled. "Sam, out. Now."
"You don't have to tell me twice." Sam said, grabbing his bowl of popcorn and walking out of the room.
"Yes, darling, sweetheart, love of my life. What can I do for you?" Dean spoke sweetly, giving you those stupid, green doe eyes.
"Jack told me." You said simply. "He told me what you said to him. That if it comes down to killing him, that you would be the one to do it. That there was no saving him."
"Y/N, you have to understand where I'm coming from." He tried to reason with you. "You should have seen him. He was stabbing himself with a knife! And it closed up like it was nothing! It's not  normal. He's not normal."
"And?! None of us are normal, Dean. We've all died and came back to life. Sam didn't have a soul, he was hooked on demon blood, yet you were still there for him. You still believed in him. You died and became a demon, you bore the Mark of Cain and had a thing for God's friggin sister! And I still loved you through it. I have been brainwashed and manipulated into hurting all of you, and you still forgave me! Cas betrayed us, and we were still there for him. None of us are fucking normal! So what the hell, Dean? You're holding a grudge against Jack just because of who his dad is?"
"His father is Lucifer, Y/N!"
"Well that's stating the goddamn obvious!" You yelled.
"He could turn on us at any moment! We don't know this kid. We don't know what he can do."
"So we learn, Dean! We should help him figure out his way. Guide him in the right direction. Show him what a true, loving family looks like!"
"We are not his family, Y/N! And he's not our family. He never will be." Dean argued.
You flinched back, glaring at Dean. "How dare you! You son of a bitch! Whether you believe it or not, Jack is family. To me and to Sam. We care about him and love him!"
"He doesn't even know what love means!"
"Yes, he does! Because he feels things, Dean. He cares. He cares about all of us, including you. You know, he asked me if he could call me mom today. Did you know that? He trusts me and cares for me so much that he sees me as a mother figure."
"He's got you brainwashed, Y/N! Can't you see that?!"
"If he looked like his actual age, would you be acting like this?"
"What kind of question is that." He scoffed.
"If Jack looked four months old instead of twenty, would you still be treating him like this?" You asked steadily. Dean remained silent. "See! He is four months old, no matter how old he looks, he's still a baby."
"So, what, you want me to change his diaper or some shit?"
"No! I want you to treat him like a human being!" You yelled.
"But he's not human!"
You and Dean stood your ground, neither of you letting up. "Fine. I'm leaving then. And I'm taking Jack with me."
"No, you're not."
"Fucking watch me, Dean. I can't even look at you right now. Because you are not the man I married. That man was compassionate and caring. This one isn't. And until he comes back, I'm staying away." You cried.
Before Dean could get another word out, you left the den. You noticed that Sam was standing in the hallway, giving you a saddened look. "You're really leaving?"
"I'm sorry, Sam." You sobbed. "But I can't be around him right now. And I don't think Jack should be either. We're going to my parents house for a while. And until he gets his shit together, I'm not coming back.
"I know. I don't understand why Dean is acting like this." He mumbled.
"I don't either. It's so unlike him." You agreed.
"So what are you going to tell Jack?"
"Just that we're going to take a little road trip and visit my parents. I don't know, Sam, this whole thing is so strange to me. But I know have to go."
Sam frowned as he pulled you into a hug. "I'm really going to miss you. But you do what you need to do. And if you ever need anything, you call me, okay? I don't care what time of day it is, call me."
"I will." You squeeze Sam tightly. "Thank you for being an amazing brother and best friend." You pulled away, teary eyed as you parted from your brother in law. "I hope to be back soon."
You softly knocked on Jack's door before entering. "Hey, Jack." You smiled.
"Mom!" He said excitedly. "Are we going to watch movies now?"
"Actually, there's been a change of plans. Me and you are going on a road trip to visit my parents."
"Really? Are Sam and Dean coming with us?"
You swallowed hard, a lump forming in your throat. "No, actually. This is a trip just for us. Sam and Dean wanted to stay here just in case they find a case or something that can get Mary back from apocalypse world. So I'm going to help you pack and then we can get on the road."
---
You had sent Jack to your car, having him put everything in the trunk while you finished up things in the bunker. The last thing you grabbed was a machete that belonged to your father before he gave it to you.
"Don't go." A voice whispered. You turned to see Dean, who looked like he had been crying. "Please don't leave."
You swallowed hard, feeling tears rush to your eyes once more. "Will you accept Jack as family?"
"Y/N-" Dean said, exasperated. "He can stayed here but he's not family."
"That's not good enough, Dean. Because I know how you act around people you don't trust."
"You can't force me to trust him." Dean scoffed.
"That's not what I want. I want you to get to know him. I want you to try."
"Y/N. . . I just. . . I can't."
"I think. . . I think we need time apart." You mumbled.
"Y/N, please –"
"Only for a little bit." You assured him. "They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, after all." You gave him a sad smile, trying to control your tears.
You turned to leave before Dean's voice stopped you. "If you leave, then we're over. That's it. Don't bother coming home."
You sighed as you looked back at Dean. You cupped his face in your hands and gave him a slow, sensual kiss. You could feel salty tears on your lips as you memorized how Dean's mouth felt against yours. It was warm and soft. You could taste the remnants whiskey on his breath.
You pulled away slightly, resting your forehead on Dean's. You felt tears streaming down your face as you looked the man you had grown to love over the past ten years. You had been through hell and back, literally. You had lost each other, fell out of love and back in love.
"This isn't goodbye, Dean." You whimpered. "I swear it isn't. I love you with every part of my soul. I'm not choosing Jack over you, okay? I just need time. I need you to wait for me."
"That's all I've ever done, Y/N." Dean shook his head. "I waited on you when you were in relationships, when you were heartbroken, when your sister died, I waited on you to love me back. I'm tired of waiting. I will always love you, and you'll always be with me. You've changed me, and I'm so thankful for it. You've made me a better man. But I can't. . . I can't keep doing this, Y/N." He whispered as he slipped off his wedding band. "This is goodbye." He set the ring in your hand, curling your fingers around it. "Goodbye, sweetheart." He gave you one final kiss. But this one was rough and full of passion. It really was goodbye.
"Dean, please." You cried. He pressed a swift kiss to the crown of your head before leaving you standing alone in the library. Sobs racked through your body as you clutched Dean's ring to your chest. "Please come back." You whispered.
You wiped your face of tears and stuck Dean's ring in your pocket. There would be time for tears later. Right now you just needed to get out of the bunker. As you looked around the library, you realized you had never felt this alone.

The Sandman more like The Sadman. (Review)
Listen, I wanted to put up 10 things I like about The Sandman kasi may 10 eps siya, but I don’t have enough words and energy to create a cohesive list of how much I love this series.
The Sandman is an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s comic with the same title, and it tells the story of Lord Morpheus a.k.a. Dream a.k.a. The Sandman (he has a lot of names so for my sake, we will call him Dream.) Dream was imprisoned by mortals when he went outside his realm, The Dreaming, to follow a nightmare that is creating havoc amongst humans. He spent a century living in the cellar of Roderick Burgess and his son. When he had the chance to escape, he has little power because his helm (helmet that looks like a black plague mask), his sand (black pouch full of sand that enables him to travel??), and his ruby (which makes dream come true) were taken away from him. He went off to look for it and when he did a new problem arose. A dream vortex is born. Dream cannot catch a break istg.
I could list a lot of reasons why you should give The Sandman a chance but it all boils down to the fact that The Sandman is a wonderful piece of art that explores humanity, and every facet of it. It is about humanity at its core although the main character is an anthropomorphic personification of dreams. If you want to watch how powerful hope is, you should give The Sandman a try.
My thoughts (that I wrote) while watching:
- Dream has the bone structure of Brendon Urie and the paleness of Gerard Way. In short, he looks like an emo kid.
- His spine can’t be that natural??? He looks like he has a spine of a bird.
- Jessamy, baby I’m so sorry.
- The Palace is seriously so pretty, is that a dragon???? HE HAS A PEGASUS???
-  Ahhhhhh, Dream as a cat!!!!
- Dream is a prick. An idiot prick.
- Lucienne, I love you so much, tell him he’s stupid.
- Justice for Gregory!!
- Cain and Abel! The First Victim and the First Murder.
- Ethel Cripps, ma’am your necklace eats people. Get help.
- Corinthian, you don’t have eyes???????????????????
- I want a gargoyle.
- JOHANNA CONSTANTINE! I love every version of Constantine because they don’t listen to anyone, it’s hilarious.
- Matthew, you are perfect.
- Johanna asking if Dream has any ex-girlfriends and Dream shutting up immediately.
- Constantine said gay rights babes
- “You want your sand back to save humanity, well, here she is!”
-  Ethel babe how old are you again????????? 116????
- Ep 4 is a stress-inducing episode. This is why we do not talk to strangers.
- The fact that Dream manifests differently depending on what people believe in is beautiful. Dream is Kai’ckul. Dream is whatever people believe.
- Morningstar is iconic. She looks like an angel. So perfect for her role.
- This is a pokemon battle. I cannot.
- AHHHHHHHH Dream’s last move!!
- This is not a Diner.
-  “Not lies, John. Dreams” “Their dreams inspire them.” “Their dreams kept them alive.”
- Dream is so pretty and kind. I love her.
- Death came and massacred my boy, Dream.
- Bread.
- Death and Dream exude so much sibling energy. Dream is a pouty pouty boy.
- Kind death.
-  Hob Gadling. I love you.
- Love the idea that there is someone living out there for hundred of years because Death and Dream decided to prove something.
-  Are they in a relationship? They are.
- William Shakespeare met every kind of celestial being and that’s why his stories are still remembered until this day as a headcanon is something I can live with.
- ROB IS JEALOUS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE I CAN NOT HAHAHAHA
- Dream said do not even attempt at slavery, babe.
- Constantine is so prettyyy
- The Devil and the Wandering Jew meet once every century.
- “I am no Devil” “I am not Jewish” they are so stupid
- When Character A fights people while Character B sits prettily on the side, is a dynamic I will always love and adore.
- They broke up but they didn’t.
- Dream isn’t coming Rob :<
- “I’ve always heard it is impolite to keep one’s friends waiting.” The character development ohmygod.
-------- end -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------too mad because Dream cannot catch a break

in your expert opinion what are some of the most destiel-heavy episodes of spn? i stopped watching around season 7 and have no interest in engaging w the plot of the show at all but i’m in the mood for some gay yearning ykwim
Hi anon! Thank you for reaching out to me about this, I’m, no-joke, very flattered. I’d seen a couple posts on this same question, very thorough and detailed lists on Destiel-centric episodes, but at the moment I cannot find any of them, that would’ve answered your request much faster. So, in advance, sorry, my reply is probably coming in extremely late, but I did write this from scratch, so yeah.
Even though storylines in SPN can be very shitty and hollow, I do feel that to get the full Destiel experience -that long-drawn yearning- one would have to watch the entirety of the show, even if Cas isn’t in the episode or if there’s no explicit mention of their relationship/bond because it gives you a better understanding of them as characters and of how their relationship affects the narrative.
Now, you mentioned you stopped around S7, which is completely understandable and justified given the Dick plot game was very weak and, in my opinion, annoying (so little Cas!). I’m going to start listing from S7 in case you want to refresh your SPN before jumping straight into unseen episodes. Also, since you mentioned no interest in the plot and are specifically craving those sweet crumbs of gay yearning, I’ll skip most one-sided / too subtle episodes and cut to the chase.
Lastly, I hate spoiling things, but you’ve probably seen it all on Tumblr. I tried to keep the episodes’ descriptions short, as it might come in useful. Stuck to key words, quotes and/or little comments.
 Season 7
7x01 – Meet the New Boss: Godstiel, sincere apology. Cas: “I'm gonna find some way to redeem myself to you.”
7x02 – Hello, Cruel World: Mourning. Trench coat melancholy. The heart-wrenching eulogy: “Dumb son of a bitch.”
7x17 – The Born-Again Identity: Emmanuel!Cas, reunion, longing, hurt.
7x21 – Reading is Fundamental: Honey!Cas, hug, hurt, reunion, that painful SORRY (board game) scene.
7x23 – Survival of the Fittest: Honey!Cas, forgiveness, adorable, wified Cas. Dean hits us with: “Nobody cares that you're broken, Cas!" but also “I'd rather have you, cursed or not.”
Season 8 (this season is so good and Destiel is the driving motor of it, I swear. If you can, watch it complete.)
8x01 – We Need to Talk About Kevin: Dean in Purgatory looking for the angel.  Cas is referred to as “your [Dean’s] angel.”
8x02 – What’s Up, Tiger Mommy?: HUG!!!, Purgatory reunion, face touch, very romantic. Monster: “ You'll find your angel there.” //  Dean: “Let me bottom-line it for you. I'm not leaving here without you.”
8x05 – Blood Brother: Cas vs. Benny cat fight lol. Dean: “Cas... we're gonna shove your ass back through the eye of that needle if it kills all three of us.”
8x07 – A Little Slice of Kevin: Cas comes back from Purgatory, but before that Dean starts seeing him in places. Very tragic; hallucinating your dead significant other trope. Has That boner scene. Dean: “I did everything I could to get you out! EVERYTHING!” Cas helps Dean see what truly happened in Purgatory and not his self-altered memories. PACKED!
8x08 – Hunteri Heroici: Hilarious, romantic, intimate. Dean and Cas have an heart to heart. They actually communicate. Cas “I’ll watch over you.”
8x10 Torn and Frayed: They work a case together, and when I say heart eyes…
8x17 – Goodbye Stranger: THIS. EPISODE. Dean “I need you.”
8x19 – Taxi Driver: Separation. Naomi to Dean: "You're hoping Castiel will return to you. I admire your loyalty; I only wish he felt the same way."
8x22 – Clip Show: Lack of trust, hurt, tense interactions. Romantic too (basically, Cas gets Dean an apology basket).
8x23 – Sacrifice: Meaningful conversation and a gay couple hit by Cupid parallel. Dean “So this is it? E.T goes home?"
 Season 9
9x01 – I think I’m Gonna Like it Here: Dean prays to Cas IN.A.CHAPEL. Worry, longing, separation. Dean “Please, man, I need you here.”
9x03 – I’m No Angel: Human!Cas and jealous!Dean.
9x06 – Heaven Can’t Wait: Human!Cas TEXT-BOOK LONGING. GAY AS FUCK. Gazing, touching, they even TALK (for real).
9x09 – Holy Terror: Adorable Cas, flirty vibes, happyish, funny. Cas: “Cas is back in town!”
9x10 – Road Trip: Cas comforts Dean, Cas and Crowley bitching at each other, overall protective!Cas.
9x18 – Metafiction. Cas finds out about the Mark of Cain.
9x21 – King of the Damned: Hug, strong boyfriends vibes.
9x22 – Stairway to Heaven: Cas gives up an entire army, for Dean. Metatron about Cas “He's in love………………………. with humanity.”
9x23  – Do You Believe in Miracles?: At this point, it’s canon stated that Cas will do anything and lose everything if that means saving Dean. Metatron to Cas “You draped yourself in the flag of heaven, but ultimately, it was all about saving one human, right?”
 Season 10
10x01 – Black: Demon!Dean and sick/brokenhearted Cas in a slutty robe missing his man.
10x03 – Soul Survivor: ICONIC. Angel on Demon action! Cas turns down Hannah because he’s too gay and in love. Intimate Deancas talk.
10x05 – Fan Fiction: No Cas, but Destiel references.
10x09 – The Things We Left Behind: That.Lunch.Date. Deancas introduction to co-parenting.
10x14 – The Executioner’s Song: We get Daddy Murder aka Cain. This is a Pivotal episode to understand Dean’s character development. Plus, it has Deancas interactions.
10x16 – Paint It Black: No Cas, but Dean opens up in confessionary; repressed BISEXUAL AS FUCK.
10x18 – Book of the Damned: Charlie meets Cas. Gay energies everywhere. Cute domestic little scene.
10x20 – Angel Heart: PARENTING! Essential to understand Cas from this point forward.
10x22 – The Prisoner: Just… just watch it. One of THEE Destiel episodes.
10x23 – Brother’s Keeper: No Deancas interactions but it’s the finale, and I recommend watching it because next season takes off literally right from here. No time jumps.
 Season 11
11x02 – Form and Void: Could skip to the very end which is when Cas comes back.
11x03 – The Bad Seed: Cursed!Cas. Dean takes care of him, even wraps him in a blanket. He also cradles his face. Extreme Hurt/Comfort. Jacting joices rejoice.
11x10 – The Devil in the Details: Could skip but has Casifer in it. Interesting to see his dynamic with Dean.
11x18 – Hell’s Angel: Casifer. Dean "It? It's not an it, Sam, it's Cas!"
11x23 – Alpha and Omega: Huggg! Cas willing to go on a guaranteed suicide mission with Dean. Very tender and sad.
 Season 12
12x02 – Keep Calm and Carry On: ANOTHER HUG! Dean presents his boyfriend to his mom<3 Soft and romantic.
12x09 – First Blood: Reunion hug<3, Cas pining… as in he counts his every minute without Dean.
12x10 – Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets: Direct parallel with canon couple. Crystal-clear mutual affection. One of the best. Angel Ishim to Cas about Dean “I'm gonna help you. I'm gonna cure you of your human weakness same way I cured my own… by cutting it out.”
12x12 – Stuck in the Middle with You: A dying Cas confesses his love. “I love you. I love all of you.”
12x19 – The Future: We find out Dean gave Cas a MIXTAPE!!! Very romantic and full of yearning, also worry and what could be seen as a betrayal (ish…).
12x23 – All Along the Watch Tower: Hands down, one of the most distressing Destiel episodes. Cas dies.
 Season 13
13x01 – Lost and Found: This is the worst because you have Dean trying to assimilate Cas’ death. Core of Dean’s widow’s arc. Jack introduction, that’s their new kid.
13x02 – The Rising Son: Widow’s arc (you could skip it, but why would you?).
13x03 – Patience: Widow’s arc (you could skip it, but why would you?). Dean to Sam “He manipulated him, he made him promises, said, ‘paradise on earth’ and Cas bought it and you know what that got him? It got him dead! Now you might be able to forget about that, but I can’t!”
13x04 – The Big Empty: Continuation of widow’s arc and Cas wakes up in the Empty. The Empty to Cas: "I know who you love. There's nothing for you back there." // Dean to Sam “I need you to keep the faith, for both of us. ‘Cause right now, I… Right now, I don’t believe in a damn thing.”
13x05 – Advanced Thanatology: Suicidal and hopeless Dean gets his win. Cas comes back. Gives me the chills.
13x06 – Tombstone: COWBOY BOYFRIENDS!
13x14 – Good Intentions: Happy and fun Destiel scene. So Very Married.
13x23 – Let The Good Times Roll: Season finale, Dean talks about retiring (plans include Cas of course) and just very nice to see them interact.
Season 14
14x03 – The Scar: Reunion.
14x08 – Byzantium: Deanand Cas dealing with their child’s death, then bringing him back by Cas making a deal with the Empty. IMPORTANT EPISODE.
14x09 – The Spear: Cas uses the royal We – married behavior.
14x10 – Nihilism: Dean is stuck in his own mind, and Cas and Sam try to bring him back. Cas “Please, you have to -- you have to try to remember, because the people in your life -- in your real life, out there -- we need you to come back.”
14x12 – Prophet and Loss: Dean gets his very own Dr. Sexy, aka Dr. Cas.
14x14 – Ouroboros: Basically another date (their kid tags along) and They TALK. Very intimate and established marriage vibes.
14x18 – Absence: Shits starts to go south. [ Dean: “Who cares what Jack said? We don't know what happened! But I swear, if he did something to her, if she is -- (points to Castiel) Then you're dead to me. (Castiel looks crushed after Dean says that).]
14x20 – Moriah: Tense and very upsetting. Relationship very damaged.
Season 15 (I would advise watching the entire season because it relies heavily on Destiel. They’re the heart and the emotional motor leading the plot onwards.)
15x01 – Back and To The Future: Deancas’ in the aftermath of their kid’s death. Tension gets worse.
15x02 – Raising Hell: Tension rises, this is very intense. Cas “Dean. You asked, "What about all of this is real?" We are.”
15x03 – The Rupture: Breaking point ends in divorce.
15x06 – Golden Time: Painful phone call which speaks volumes about the current state of their relationship at the time. Also, good to see where they’re standing and how they’re coping.
15x08 – Our Father Who Aren’t in Heaven: Strained relationship so obvious they’re offered couples’ therapy.
15x09 – The Trap: MASTERPIECE. Back to Purgatory. Can (and is) taken as Dean’s love confession (because it is).
15x12 – Galaxy Brain: So married. Little domestic date, you can see LOVE written in their faces.
15x13 – Destiny’s Child: AU!Dean and Sam. Not a yearning episode per se, but AU!Dean? SO GAY.
15x17 – Unity: God reveals that the only act of free will in any universe he ever created has been Cas choosing Dean.
15x18 – Despair: Cas confesses his love to Dean.

To marry a Vigilante: Part 1

When they finally pulled apart, Marinette needed a moment for her brain to restart. She was sure she would melt right then and there. At the same time, she wanted to jump and scream from sheer ecstasy. It was all she ever wanted and now she had it.
Damian stared at her empty expression.
“I think you broke her.” Plagg suddenly zoomed out of her pocket, followed by Tikki who tried (and failed) to catch him.
This was enough for Mari to finally start thinking coherently. “Um… Yeah… I… Maybe…” Or mostly coherently at least.
“Habibti. Breathe. In. Out. In. Out.” Damian guided her. Slowly, Mari returned to her senses.
“Thank you… I think I might have kinda lost my breath there.” She gave him an apologetic smile.
“Nothing happened. Now I think I need to leave or my brothers will get some stupid idea and I will have to practice my skill with a sword.” Damian deadpanned.
“Since I know I can’t stop you, please at least don’t kill them until I get to know them better?”
“I can try, but no promises.” He turned to leave, but she grabbed his hand.
“Oh! Wait!” She fumbled through her pocket for a moment before pulling out a small box. Plagg immediately was pulled inside it (much to Tikki’s amusement). “Damian Wayne. As Guardian of the Miraculous, I give you the miraculous of the Black Cat, which gives you the power of destruction. I trust you to protect it and use it to help others.”
Damian was stunned only for a short moment and definitely didn’t move his mouth like a fish. Definitely. “I accept that honor and thank you for your trust.”
“There is no one I would trust more than you with this. If not for your and your family’s help, I would’ve never caught Hawkmoth or the Cat.”
“Don’t sell yourself short. You’re brilliant and it was only a matter of time.”
“Time I might’ve not had. Chat was working with Hawkmoth. Who knows when I would’ve fallen into a trap…”
“It’s all over now, Habibti.” He grabbed her hand. “Everything is going to be better now.” When she smiled he let go and opened the box. Plagg appeared in a flash.
“For the record, I hate these boxes.”
“Stop complaining. If you stayed there it wouldn’t have been so bad.” Tikki scolded him.
Marinette giggled at the interaction of the two little gods. Damian just shook his head and donned the ring.
“Can I see how you’ll look?” She asked before her smile took a more grin-like look. “I want to see if you’ll have a cute cat-ears.”
“Maybe when you are in Gotham.” He scoffed. “Thank you, angel. It’s the best Christmas gift you could’ve given me. Your trust means more than gold to me.”
“But Christmas is still a long way away…” Mari tried to dismiss him, but seeing his expression she doubled back. He looked almost scared. Almost, since Damian Wayne did not get scared.
“Angel… Christmas Eve is tomorrow. That’s why your class is leaving on Monday. You are all going to be attending the Wayne New Year Gala next Friday.”
“But… But… Wouldn’t there be decorations in stores? And Santa Clauses on the street? Or at least…”
“There were. Mostly Miraculous themed though. I can’t believe you didn’t notice.” He said with a bit too much amusement slipping into his voice.
“Kwami! Kwami! Kwami!” She started to pace. “I completely forgot! How could I have forgotten Christmas!?” She was close to collapsing. Damian was quickly by her, holding her wrists together to not accidentally get slapped by her flailing arms.
“Habibti. There is nothing to worry about. You already gave everyone the greatest gift possible by ridding them of that terrorist. I admit I regret that we will not be able to spend our first Christmas together as a family, but the last several months were the best of my life already. You don’t need to give me anything more.”
“But… But…” She was at the edge of crying.
“Marinette. Don’t worry. I have an idea.” Tikki reassured her Chosen. “Go tell your parents to pack everything.”
“But… Maman and I must be here at six on Monday” She tried to argue.
“You will be. Kaalki owes me a favor.” The kwami dismissed her.
“But… But I can’t just abuse the miraculous.”
“Marinette. All Kwami love you. They would be happy to help you if the need arose.” Tikki nuzzled into her cheek. Mari finally relented.
“Fine… But I’m buying her three boxes of sugar cubes,” she said with conviction.
The two kwami giggled and Damian cracked a smile.
--------------------
Adrien cursed loudly. He barely managed to escape those damn heroes. And to think that his Lady marries some American ragtag instead of him? That’s how she repaid him for his loyalty? For all of his sacrifices? That was just a travesty.
But it didn’t matter in the end. She didn’t deserve to be Ladybug anyway and now finally, the world could be free from her. Of course, heroes could try to save her. They could even succeed. But he made a point. He severed all the ties with that cursed bitch. Now he could focus on his true soulmate: Marinette. She was the real Ladybug. She was loyal, honest, brave, kind, selfless, beautiful. They’re made for each other. In a perfect world, they would be with one another if he was not blinded by the imposter. She had a crush on him in the past, but he ruined it. Now he had to work trice as hard to get her to join him.
“Don’t worry mother. We will have our family again.” He said, looking at the stasis chamber.
----------------------
When Marinette and her parents exited the portal in Wayne Manor, they were greeted by Alfred the Butler and Alfred the Cat.
“Ah. Young Madame Marinette, Madame Cheng, Master Dupain. It is my pleasure to welcome you. I was told you would be arriving through… extraordinary means.” He greeted them.
“We’re sorry for all the trouble we’re causing you on such short notice.” Marinette immediately started to apologize.
“You are no trouble at all. Definitely not compared to the usual Christmas mess.” He dismissed her apology. She wanted to protest, but the cat jumped onto her and she instinctively grabbed him and hugged.
“I see Alfred the Cat likes you, Angel.” Damian’s voice came from behind. Immediately, Marinette whirled around, only to stare into a pair of green eyes.
“Damian!” She wanted to hug him, but the cat was a bit in the way. Instead, she just leaned over and pressed a chaste kiss to his lips. They both smiled.
“I’m sorry to interrupt,” Sabine spoke. “Is Cassandra home? I would like to meet my niece. We spoke several times over the phone, but meeting in person is…”
“She is in the gym, practicing ballet,” Alfred informed her.
“Thank you. Tom, be a kind husband, and carry my things to our room. And don’t forget the bag.” She patted Tom’s cheek before leaving.
“Come, Habibti. I will show you the garden.” Damian grabbed her waiting hand.
“Take my bags too, dad? Thanks!” Mari shouted without looking back before she, Damian, and the cat left the room, leaving Tom with half the house packed into bags.
“Why do women carry so much with them…?” He sighed.
“It’s a mystery of the world that we, mere mortals, will never know, Sir,” Alfred answered in his usual tone.
---------
“Cassandra?” Sabine asked, leaning through the doors leading to the gym. The mats that would usually cover the ground were all rolled in the corner to make space. A large mirror covered the entire right wall. A lone girl in a white ballet outfit danced to Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet music.
The girl did not answer or break her dance, but Sabine noted that her gaze shifted toward doors in the mirror. It was just a short moment to assess the threat without breaking concentration on whatever one did. It was the same as she often did. It was an instinct learned through years of training. David Cain better stayed in that cell or else.
When the song ended, Cass turned the music off and walked closer to Sabine until they were standing about a foot apart.
“You’re a great dancer.” The woman started. Cass only nodded in response.
“Practice.” She said. There was more awkward silence where the two measured each other.
“I’m sorry sweetie. For what happened to you. If I knew, I would’ve searched for you and gave you a proper home.” A tear appeared in Sabine’s eye. When they spoke through video, it was mostly about meaningless things to get used to one another or neutral subjects. Now, in person, Sabine wanted to get all regret off her heart.
“No… fault.” The girl answered. “All… good.”
“Can I… Hug you?” Sabine asked, fully aware that not everyone liked physical contact.
“Hug?” Cass asked. To this day, only Dick or Tim wanted to give her hugs and it was rare. “Okay?” She more asked than agreed, but her aunt responded by slowly pulling the girl to her heart.
“I’m still sorry. If I see my sister, she is gonna get her ear screamed off.” She assured the girl. “How could she… You’re such a sweet girl.”
Cassandra Cain smiled. She liked being hugged by that woman. And the image of her mother cowering before her older sister was too funny.
-------------
“Damian!” Marinette shouted as he dragged her through the garden. It was much colder in Gotham than in Paris. And it was still only late morning here while she left Paris in the afternoon. She was a bit tired.
“I want to show you something, Angel. Come on! Before my brothers find us and drag me into their ‘Christmas spirit’ stuff.” He groaned at the thought.
“Christmas is important!” She argued.
“Definitely when you are here.” He answered easily. It was lucky he was too focused on the road to look back because she blushed… hard.
They walked through the forest that was on the manor grounds until they entered a small clearing. In the center, there was a stone garden gazebo with the fire burning in the center. It definitely gave heat, but little smoke dispersed in the air before it could alert anyone to that location. There were several stone benches inside.
“I found it during one of my… escape attempts when I was younger.” He admitted. “Now I use it as a retreat from my brothers. The herb mixture I use as fuel gives no smoke.”
“Why bring me here?” She asked.
“I just thought that we should enjoy the peace before the hurricane that my brothers become washes over us.”
Mari giggled. “I met your brothers.”
“No. You saw them. I had to live with them for the last five years. They are crazy.”
“It can’t be that bad… right?”
“Last year Todd set the Christmas Tree on fire.” He deadpanned.
“Okay, that might’ve been an accident.” She tried to argue.
“Four years ago Grayson decided to show his acrobatic skill to put a star on the top of the tree. He ended up crashing it on us and the dinner table.”
“It… happens?” She said, but with less conviction.
“Two years ago, Drake decided to surprise Brown and bought her a life-sized statue of them made out of chocolate.”
“It doesn’t sound that bad…”
“Except that insomniac idiot accidentally ordered it made out of chocolate ice cream!”
“Oh…” Marinette didn’t have an answer for that.
“So as I said, they can be a bit much.”
“Don’t worry. I still think it could be worse. My Nona once gave my parents a motorbike with two sidecars as a Christmas gift.”
“Tt. That sounds normal.”
“Except one of them was made as a crib for me. I was one at the time.”
Damian cracked a smile.
“I still think you will thank me for showing you this place.”
“May I remind you that you will all be stuck with my mom for the better part of the exchange. She will keep them in check.” Mari huffed.
“I don’t doubt that.” He pulled his phone and showed her a photo of Sabine standing over Talia. The next one was of unconscious Talia with Tom standing over her with the broken chair.
Mari giggled and she would later swear that Damian laughed a bit. Not that anyone saw them. Well, no human. Alfred the Cat could hardly testify.

Could I request something like a reader who loves cats? They secretly fed and took care of stray cats and those kitties like to follow them around in camp
Hi, yes, I'm the idiot who requests reader who loves cats and I'm not sure if I remember specifying which character. So if I may, can it be Arthur or anyone else you want to? Thank you! (If I already specified the character in my previous request, just ignore this cause I forgot about a lot of things. Sorry!)
I love this anon and I love this request so much 😭 I needed to write this right now because it's so lovely and I'm also a cat person!
I'm gonna write for a few other characters too!!! I basically chose people I think would be cat people...and John bc he is a lovely bean brained boy
Arthur
• He caught you feeding the stray cats some scraps from the stew that were just too inedible for human consumption at first. He thinks its pretty funny that you have to be so secretive or Pearson will yell at you.
• "your secrets safe with me sweetheart," he won't snitch to Pearson on you, it's too cute to see how much those cats adore you to ruin it now.
• he will deliberately leave the campfire at the same time as you so you can feed the cats together and he'd save some meat specially for the cats as a treat
• he's very careful with them when they get close to him, when he pets them it's like he thinks they're made of glass, he's scared he'll hurt them.
• he'd really want to be helpful and look out for anything the cats might like, those cats would be ridiculously well looked after between the two of you.
• he wouldn't fuss over them loads in case they stopped liking him or he hurt them but he'd let them sit in his lap by the fire whenever they settled on him
Charles
• Charles loves animals and he's a believer in the theory that if animals like you, that makes you a trustworthy person.
• when he notices the cats around camp and how its you they're following he's in love already. He instantly trusts someone who's good with animals.
• the cats absolutely love him, they're almost as attached to him as they are you. It's as if you're the mother cat and he's the father and they're like little ducklings the way they follow you.
• whatever he's doing he'd happily have both you and the cats with him. He's cleaning his saddle? Cat to his right and you to his left, a little family.
• when he goes hunting he keeps in mind that thanks to you the camp has a few extra mouths to feed and gets enough for everyone.
• a total softy when it comes to the cats, he fusses over them without shame and gives them all the love they deserve. Even the most feral cats will become tame for him.
Javier
• would find it absolutely adorable that you're sweet enough to look after stray cats, would quietly watch you in curiosity from across camp as you feed them and fuss over them
• Javier has the benefit of being able to remain very calm, he's a calming presence so the cats aren't afraid of him like they are of Sean for being too loud or Micah for being...well Micah.
• When you notice him watching you as you held a tiny kitten one of the usual cats had brought for you to meet you'd gesture for him to come over and introduce them.
• If anyone made fun of either of you for cuddling up to a kitten (lets face it, Micah would) he'd get very defensive and only hold the cat closer, threatening anyone who had anything negative to say.
• God help Micah if he ever kicks the cats the way he kicked Cain, Javier will have a knife at his throat before you even have time to get upset and Micah will never go anywhere near them again.
• he'd end up loving those cats, if they're important to you then they're important to him too.
John
• John is for sure more of a dog person and the kind of person to try and pat cats and play rough as if they were dogs.
• would probably stroke the cats the wrong way and mess up their fur. They wouldn't like him much at first and he'd probably get a few bites and scratches.
• of course you can teach him to be a little more gentle and luckily the cats would tolerate his clumsy interactions for the most part.
• after a while they even start to like him! Animals can tell when someones a good person even if he's a little clueless.
• teaching him about the cats and how to behave with them is a great way to spend extra time with him too.
• he likes that you can be so much more gentle than him and it's heart warming every time he sees you with them.
Dutch
• Dutch is a cat person, they're not needy or clingy like dogs so when he notices the cats around camp he doesn't mind at all.
• he makes less of a fuss of the cats but he's so calm they like him well enough, they love to sit in his lap when he reads and he likes the company.
• he's a big fan of lounging around with you and the cats like that, you don't even need to speak when you're together. Just enjoy eachothers company and listen to the purring of your little friends.
• he wouldn't want you feeding them scraps and would rather get them something better once he got attached enough to them.

Monsters of Past

Tumblr media
For my @badthingshappenbingo prompt take me instead.  Fandom: Batman Characters: Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Cassandra Cain, Dick Grayson, Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, and OC Rating: M Warnings: Past rape/non-con, rape/non-con elements, Tim Drake has bad parents (they are the worst) Lots of protective Jason, Cass and Dick Summary: "That is what I was trying to protect you from Damian." Tim's voice was hollow. "You talk about your birthright as Bruce's blood son, that you want everything you deem yours handed to you on a silver platter without knowing that there is a price you are going to pay. Do you know how many there are who would love to have the Crown Prince of Gotham's blood son in their power? Forced to do whatever they want to seal the deal? They are the monster waiting in the shadows knowing their money and power will protect them. I was trying to protect you, Damian.
"To protect Damian Tim gives himself to a monster of his past. Word Count: 2,901 You can also read it on AO3
"Enough is enough. Today is the day that I take my birthright back from Drake." Damian had waited long enough for his father to dismiss the unwanted one, he had already been removed as Robin as one of them now it was time to remove him from his position as CEO - it was his birthright and that Drake was still in his place filled Damian with rage - and once and for all show Drake he wasn't wanted nor needed and it was time for him to move on, far away from them.
Damian had overheard a conversation between Drake and Tam before Drake discovered and destroyed the bugs Damian had planted in the CEO's office the last time he had been there reminding Drake that he was nothing but a temporary replacement until father took back what was his or passed it onto him as it is his birthright.
Tam had brought up the owner of a company that they needed to work with but the CEO was holding out until Tim agreed to a private meeting with him.
"We can't keep putting this meeting off. The board members are beginning to ask questions as to why you don't want to meet with Aiden Tyler."
"I know. His company is doing some good but Aiden Tyler is an ass."
"Tim!"
"I'm sorry but I have dealt with that man in the past and he is a real scumbag and if we didn't need his product I would tell him to go to hell. Call and see if you can make an appointment with him sometime next week."
Damian knew that was his chance to prove he was worthy to take over now, despite his age.
+******+
Aiden Tyler quickly agreed to meet with Damian and the youngest Wayne couldn't help but preen with pride.
"That will show Drake." He will secure the deal and prove once again how worthless Drake is then maybe they could finally be rid of him.
Dressed in his finest of suits Damian arrived at the five-star restaurant where he walked in and owned the place like the Prince he is. "I am meeting Aiden Tyler, take me to him." He demanded.
The host quickly did as ordered and Damian couldn't help but smirk the man knew not to mess with a Wayne.
Led to a booth in the back a handsome man with deep brown hair with streaks of silver the man was fit for nearing his fifties. Dark eyes met his and Damian refused to shiver as they roamed over him with something in them that made him uncomfortable.
"Mr. Tyler, I am Damian Wayne, I am thankful that you could work me into your schedule." Damian greeted him.
Aiden's lips curled up into a smile, "Please call me Aiden and when it comes to Wayne Enterprise I am always willing to make room. I'm sure that we can work out a partnership that is agreeable to both parties."
There was something about the way the man spoke that reminded Damian of a predator stalking its prey. 'Well, Mister Tyler you will learn that Damian Wayne-Al Ghul is no one's prey.' "I hope that as well."
"Well isn't this nice but if you want to do business with Wayne Enterprise you need to talk to me."
"What are you doing here Drake?" Damian hissed out, he couldn't believe that Drake had the nerve to show up here and ruin his chance to prove to his father he was ready.
Thankful for all the train Bruce had given them Tim was able to hide his feelings behind a cool mask as he was forced to face someone he hoped he would never see again unless it was behind jail bars. "I am doing my job, Damian. Now, why don't you run along and leave this to the grown-ups." Tim ordered not suggested.
Damian bristled much like Alfred the cat and he looked ready to spew his usual vile insults towards Tim but right now he didn't care, he needed Damian far away and somewhere safe.
"If you leave now I will not inform Bruce of you trying to endanger Wayne Enterprise's." Tim held up a hand as Damian went to speak, "As you would know because of your age any agreement you reached with Mister Tyler would not be binding. So in order for this partnership to be legal, it is me that must make the deals. Now head home Damian." Tim ordered.
A low growl escaped Damian he hated to admit that Drake had a point, after all, he was not of age to make any partnership legal which is why he had planned on creating the agreement than bringing his father in to show him he was capable. Now he couldn't for that surely end with his father agreeing with Drake. "This is far from over," Damian warned before storming out.
"Such a shame, I was looking forward to seeing what young Mister Wayne had to offer me." Aiden's voice was like nails on a chalk board and all Tim wanted to do was run far away but it was too late for if he did nothing the man would go after Damian again.
'You can do this Tim. You have faced the likes of the Joker and Ra. You can face him.' Tim repeated to himself as he forced the smile back on his face, "I'm sorry but you will have to settle with me."
Aiden's smile turned wicked, "We both know that I won't be settling for you, Tim. Come sit, let us catch up before we get down to business."
Having little choice Tim slipped into the booth.
Tim could feel the vile beginning to build up in the back of his throat as Aiden's hand slid up his thigh. He did his best not to shudder as unwanted memories flooded his mind.
Moving closer Aiden removed any space between the two of them, "I still hope that you cry as pretty as you use to do." Aiden whispered in Tim's ear. "I am going to have so much fun breaking you all over again. It was so sweet of you to offer to take your little brother's place."
Tim wondered if it was wrong that he wished for an Arkham outbreak at that very moment. "As long as you leave Damian alone you can have me instead."
"Agreed." Never had such a word sent pure terror flowing through Tim's body.
+******+
"Father! I demand that you talk to Drake!" Damian growled as he slammed the door to the manor open.
Bruce could feel a headache building, he wished that his two youngest sons could get along. "What now?"
"I had a meeting with Aiden Tyler, one that Drake has been putting off for a month, since he wasn't in a hurry to seal the deal I took it onto myself to see it through."
Cass appeared out of nowhere, her expression hard, "Did you leave Tim with him?" She shocked everyone with her growl.
Damian blinked at Cassandra, taken back by the rage burning in her eyes. "Yes."
Horror filled Cass' eyes before she was moving. Bouncing to his feet Dick followed after his sister, "Cass, what is going on?"
"Tyler hurt little brother in past and is hurting him now." Was all that Cass offered before she was gone, leaving their very confused family behind.
"Yeah, that doesn't sound too good, someone gets Babs on the line and have her find out everything she can about this Aiden Tyler," Jason suggested. Something was bugging him, he had heard that name before and the fact that it made him want to reach for his guns wasn't a good sign.
Worry shone in Dick's blue eyes, "Do you think Timmy might be in danger?" His and Tim's relationship hadn't been the same since he didn't believe Tim that Bruce was alive and caused him to lose his standing in the hero community, he kept meaning to fix it but he kept pushing it off and now his baby brother might be in trouble and he might turn away his offer of comfort.
"I do," Jason growled out.
+******+
At Alfred's suggestion, they had moved down to the cave to do a background check on Aiden Tyler and discovering that Tyler Holdings had a history of deals with Jack and Janet Drake made Jason even more on edge.
He stepped over the edge when Cass returned a protective and murderous aura pouring off of her and a long line of hickies on Tim's neck arrived. Cass was curled around Tim, looking like a mama bear ready to take down anyone who proved a threat to her cub, her sharp glare had everyone on edge.
A gasp of horror escaped Dick, "Timmy."
Jason knew what those marks meant, he had worn his own when he was living on the streets.
Bruce looked like he was going to be sick, his parents and then Alfred had shielded him from the lengths some would go to get more money.
Though Damian had been raised as an Al Ghul his mother had made sure he would never have to lower himself to serve others so he had no clue as to what powder keg he was about to set off. "What is the meaning of this Drake? You were supposed to be sealing a deal not lowering yourself to be a common whore." Damian snarled at Tim.
"Damian! Enough!"
Shock filled Damian's face as he found himself taking a step back at the anger in Dick's voice, his Batman had never spoken to him like that and he didn't know why Richard chose know to speak up. "Why are you defending him now Richard? I am only speaking the truth as I have before, Drake has proven himself to be nothing but a whore unfit to wear the Wayne name."
"I'm only the whore to spare you from becoming one." Tim's voice was soft but it echoed through the cave.
Damian could only blink at Drake before scoffing at him, "I would never lower myself as something so disgraceful. You make no sense."
The fire burned in Tim's dull eyes, "There was a reason that I kept putting off meeting with Tyler. I was waiting until I was sure that Bruce, Dick or Jason could be there with me. The bastard wouldn't try anything with one of them there. He just likes them young and pretty."
"What are you saying, Timmy?" Dick didn't know if he wanted to know the answer.
"You think that this is the first time that I had to give myself over for a business deal?" The laugh that escaped Tim was bitter. "I have been doing this for years. I was a prize that my parents dangled before anyone they could. Now that I am CEO of Wayne Enterprise I am an even bigger prize."
Jason's eyes were glowing green as he realized what his baby bird was saying.
Dick looked like he was going to murder someone.
Bruce looked horrified.
And Damian... Damian looked baffled.
"That is what I was trying to protect you from Damian." Tim's voice was hollow. I was trying to protect you, Damian."
To no one's surprise, Jason took a protective stance in front of Tim, there were few things he hated more than child rapist, the main one being the Joker, and to hear that his little brother had been forced to entertain monsters like that had him tasting the pit in the back of his mouth and he wanted nothing more than to hunt all those bastards down but that would come later right now all that matters is Tim. "Cass, take Tim upstairs and call those friends of his. He needs to be with people who will love and support him."
It was telling how awful that Tim was feeling as he didn't put up any protest as he allowed Cass to lead him out of the cave, he stopped only once to look at Damian, "You might not believe this but I do love you Damian and there was no way that I was going to let my little brother be forced to do something like that, not if I could protect him in ways that no one protected me."
Bruce collapsed into the chair as he buried his face in his hands. Dick would have offered him comfort but his legs gave out beneath him.
A dangerous growl escaped Jason as he flew a fist at the punching bag, he didn't care what Bruce said tonight he was going hunting.
"I didn't know." A shaken Damian whispered, he thought that Drake hated him just like he hates him but to know what Drake protected him from made his world spin. His mother had drilled into him that Timothy Drake was his enemy and the only way to take his place in his father's family was to get rid of him. "This makes no sense. Why would Drake do that for me?"
"Because you are his little brother and he was trying to keep you safe," Dick answered him with a sad smile on his face. Tim had protected Damian but they failed in keeping him safe. "There has to be a way to fix this." Dick just didn't know how to start.
A strong hand landed on his shoulder lifting his head Dick found himself staring into Bruce's grim face, "We messed up B."
"I know." Bruce felt guilt building up in him, he is Tim's father it is his duty to keep him safe. "All we can do is be there for him. Jason is right though Tim needs his friends here. We need to show him that we love him and are here for him."
No one noticed when Jason slipped away from them he had a monster to hunt.
+*****+
Kitchen
Jason stalked towards the door with purpose in his step.
"Master Jason."
Halting in mid-step Jason clenched his fists at his sides, "I cherish you Alfred but not even you can stop me from doing this." Jason warned.
"I don't intend to Master Jason," That had Jason whirling around to look at Alfred, the man looked calm but Jason could see the storm brewing in his eyes, "I would just like to inform you that Aiden Tyler will be attending a party tonight and from his habits, he will not arrive at home until around 2 am, which at such time the Sirens have promised to keep the rest of the Bats busy," Alfred informed Jason. No one hurt one of his grandchildren.
A wicked grin appeared on Jason's face, "This is why you are the best Alfred."
"Indeed. Now I need to prepare snacks for Master Tim's guests. Do be sure to return tonight and I shall have your favourite cookies waiting for you." Alfred gave Jason a soft smile.
"You rule Alfred." Jason would come back for Alfred and look after Tim.
+*****+
With Tim curled up in a puppy pile with Bart, Connor, Cassie and Cass watching Star Wars. The Sirens leading Batman, Nightwing and Robin on a chase throughout Gotham the Red Hood was free to deal with business.
Aiden was riding a high he had sealed a deal with Wayne Enterprise that was sure to make him an even wealthier man and his favourite toy returned to him. Nothing could bring him down.
That was until he felt the cold metal of the barrel of the gun pressed against his forehead. A red helmet followed and Aiden felt a sense of fear.
The Red Hood was in his home.
"Whoever sent you I am sure that I can pay you double what they offered you."
"I am a Crime Lord I don't need your money and no one sent me. See I have issues with people like you who target children and think because you have the money and power that you are above the law. But you aren't above me. I am here to ensure that no other child is gifted to you."
Aiden had been so focused on the gun at his head he never noticed the second one aimed at his groin until it was too late.
Beneath his helmet, Jason grinned as Aiden screamed in pain on the floor, blood pooling around him.
+*****+
"Is he dealt with?" Dick asked.
Jason grinned at his older brother, "He will never hurt baby bird again."
While Dick wished he had been the one to deal with that bastard he needed to keep Bruce busy, still that didn't mean he wouldn't ruin him in other ways. Someone had sent Clark a copy of everything Babs had dug up on Aiden. He would see that monster ruined, without money and his power stripped from him, until he was as helpless as he made Tim feel.

What I’ve been watching:
Gambit (dir. Ronald Neame, 1966)
Tumblr media
This movie gets compared to How to Steal a Million often since it’s a genre-bending heist/romcom but it has its own unique vibe. The romance between Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine is less steamy than what we got between Peter O’Toole and Audrey Hepburn, but they still have great chemistry. The plot involves Caine’s cocky cat burglar trying to pull off the perfect heist with MacLaine’s aid—only he might actually be the worst con-man in the world, constantly misreading and underestimating his marks. It turned out to be much better than I expected—highly recommended if you liked HTSAM.
Dial M for Murder (dir. Alfred Hitchcock, 1954) [rewatch]
Tumblr media
On my first watch, I agreed with Hitchcock on this one: too talky and more of a technical exercise than an engaging suspense plot. However, I rewatched Dial M recently and enjoyed it a lot more. Ray Milland’s performance has a lot more subtleties than I originally picked up on: his expressions, his ironic line delivery, and his use of props are all on point. I also had much more appreciation for the clever camerawork and the performance of John Williams as Inspector Hubbard. While I still don’t consider it top tier Hitchcock, it’s definitely more fascinating than it initially seems.
What Lies Beneath (dir. Robert Zemekis, 2000)
Tumblr media
Sorry to say I was disappointed. I love me a good Hitchcockian thriller, but this one had two problems for me: it’s way too long and there are too many fake-out jump scares. Were it not for those issues, I would have probably enjoyed this one more, because the acting and atmosphere are genuinely impressive. And the last twist did actually get me, so kudos there.
3 Bad Men (dir. John Ford, 1926)
Tumblr media
I’ve been trying to watch more westerns recently. It’s not a genre I’m especially familiar with, but I find the mythology behind the western as a genre rather fascinating, especially in how the western has crossbred with other genres (samurai films, space operas, etc.). This silent western from John Ford probably doesn’t count among his career best, but I liked it a lot. I love eccentric criminals in my movies and the titular “bad men” are a trio of oddball thieves out to rescue a town from a corrupt sheriff. There’s a lot of humor here, but the ending is genuinely powerful and dramatic.
Damn Yankees (dir. Stanley Donen, 1958)
Tumblr media
I’m by no means a Stanley Donen expert, but of all his work, I found Damn Yankees the most underwhelming. Gwen Verdon is about the only reason to watch: she just glows. The plot itself is flimsy and aside from “What Lola Wants,” I cannot hum any of the other songs.
Ella Cinders (dir. Alfred E. Green, 1926)
Tumblr media
This is a silent film you hear about when you first become a fandom novice. Just about every silent movie nerd watched Kevin Brownlow’s Hollywood documentary series and Ella Cinders is featured prominently in one episode, so it’s been on my watchlist for about a decade now. The film itself is a cute trifle elevated by Colleen Moore, perhaps my favorite silent movie comedienne. She’s playing a comic strip character and just brims with cartoonish energy. She’s so adorable that I wish the movie was longer and had a less episodic plot, but maybe that comes with adapting a newspaper comic strip.
Fedora (dir. Billy Wilder, 1978)
Tumblr media
Oh God. BAD. This was b-a-d, BAD. I cannot believe I am saying that about a Billy Wilder movie. The guy is a favorite of mine. His weaker movies tend to be underwhelming rather than rotten, but this—oh man, it’s like a burlesque on Sunset Blvd, only sleazier, poorly paced, and packed with characters who commit the mortal sin of being simultaneously uninteresting and unsympathetic.
Basically, Not-Joe-Gillis, a washed-up Hollywood producer, goes to a remote island to lure Fedora, an Old Hollywood movie goddess, out of retirement. She’s basically a Greta Garbo expy who has somehow defied the aging process. She’s interested in his new version of Anna Karenina, but her servants, personal doctor, and the severe Polish countess she lives with basically tell her no and keep her a prisoner. Shortly after, Not-Joe learns Fedora has committed suicide and then learns her dreadful secret.
Needless to say, learning the twist is not worth the watch, especially because you can guess the twist within the first half hour of the movie. The whole movie feels like unintentional camp—and worse, like a sleazy, cheaply made TV movie. There’s a smallness to the film’s presentation that does not jibe with the outlandish plot and grand figures of Hollywood’s past. The only interest it has is as a time capsule, giving us a glimpse of an Old Hollywood giant yearning for the past and resenting the present (Not-Joe laments that “the kids with the beards” have taken over the movie industry). Like Fedora herself, the film comes off as pathetic rather than ironic or bittersweet.

If you have time! If you don’t no worries! 111. “You can’t just hug me and think everything’s okay.” For Rowaelin, Rowan cheats make it angst. Don’t beat yourself up about your writing! Thanks! 😍
Thanks for the prompt!  This was interesting to write, I deff pulled on my years of watching FRIENDS and Greys Anatomy for this, haha.
Also, no matter what happens, my friends in America, we can get through this.
 Warnings: Angst.
#
“All I’m saying is that you’re not supporting me in this,” Aelin said.
She threw her purse down on the dining room table of the small apartment she shared with her best friend, Lysandra.  It was a tiny place, but it was cheap and neither girl made much money.  But they loved it.  Aelin had spent all her spare time fixing the place up and shopping clearance racks at the home furniture and renovation stores to make their home more inviting.
“I do support you,” Rowan said.  Again.
It felt like it was all he ever said these days though Aelin could never see the fruits of his words.
She ran a hand through her hair and sighed.  “Then what's the problem with me going on this trip for work?  Is it because Sam will be there? And Chaol?  Do you not trust me?”
Rowan froze on his trip to the fridge.  He turned around to look at her, his green eyes digging into her. “What?  Fireheart, of course I trust you.”
“Then what’s the problem, Rowan?” Aelin asked.  “This trip could mean so much for me.”
“We barely had any time together this whole month,” Rowan said.  He looked as though he wanted to say more but he bit the words off, turning back to the fridge.
“You knew this would happen when I accepted this job,” Aelin insisted  for what felt like the millionth time this past month. “We both did.”
Rowan grunted and grabbed a beer from the fridge.  He popped the top off without second thought and took a long sip.
Aelin waited in silence until he was done.  Until almost half the bottle was drowned.  She waited, hands on her hips where her stupid pantyhose were digging into her gut and the waist band of her skirt didn’t help any.  She looked gorgeous today and the only person who had complimented her had been Sam.  If Aelin really wanted to, if she really wanted to piss Rowan off she would tell him.  Let him know that another man was checking her out.
Because for as much as Aelin loved Rowan, lately she’d felt like they’d barely been treading water in their tumultuous relationship.  She felt like they were adrift in a seat of rapids and maelstroms.  For as much as Aelin loved Rowan, she felt like their relationship these days was slowly drowning her.
“So what you’re saying is that our relationship is alright to sacrifice for the sake of your career?” Rowan asked.
The words were cold and hard.  They struck Aelin and latched onto her heart tugging sharply.
“Excuse me?” she asked.  The words were barely more than a whisper.  She couldn’t seem to bring herself to speak any louder.  It took all her energy to even be able to scrap those two together.
“You care more about this job than us,” Rowan repeated, not backing down from his previous statement.
Aelin dragged her hand over her face.  So many different things were working through her body.  Anger among them, but never before had she felt such a strong desire cry.  Her chest tightened with each passing second.
“How dare you,” she finally said.  She tore off her coat and flung it down beside her purse.  “How dare you say that.  I’m doing something I care about Rowan.  I am trying.  I am trying to be better than I have been before, to be better than the spoiled rich girl that would never amount to anything than daddy’s fortune.  I found a job I love, one that can help us, help me, get a little further than this place.”
She gestured around the apartment with all the decorations she had managed to scrape together and the small collage she’d made of pictures of them.  There were the mismatched chairs for the dining room table they’d found at a garage sale, a lamp that seemed to be paying homage to the garden gnomes, and even the rug that took weeks to get the stink of cat out of it.  It was all there's.  What they had tried to make together.
“I get that,” Rowan said carefully, though she noticed how white his grip had become on the bottle of his beer. “You know I do and I am proud of you for that, but we hardly see each other anymore.  I’m tired of our relationship being texts and missed calls.”
Aelin shook her head and paced the kitchen. “I can’t keep having this same argument, Rowan.  It’s going to drive me insane.”
“I’m trying to offer solutions.”
“No, you're offering me ultimatums.”
They stilled.  Noise from the streets below filtered into the apartment.  A police care zipped passed and the lights of the siren reflected through the windows in the living room.
“I need a break,” Rowan said.  He downed the rest of his beer and grabbed his keys from the table.  “I can’t do this right now.”
“Rowan,” Aelin said as he stalked past her, he didn’t look at her, “Rowan Whitethorn.”
The door slammed behind him.
#
When Rowan entered the bar, he slumped down on the first open stool he found.  He didn’t remember ordering but found a whiskey passed his way.  And another.  And another.
Too often lately did he find himself in this bar.  It was one that his friends rarely came to.  One that Aelin never visited.  It was dimly lit with a few tables scattered about.  No dance floor.  Occasionally there was an open mic night for wash-up bands or slam poetry.  It was a place one could easily go unnoticed in.
Someone slid into the stool next to him, but he didn’t look up.
“Another round, Cain,” a soft, musical voice said.
Rowan looked up as another whiskey found its way into his hands.  The woman seated beside him had rich brown hair pulled into a messy ponytail.  Loose strands framed her round face and brought out her chestnut eyes.
“You look like you could use a distraction,” she said.  A knowing smile flitted across her mouth as she leaned into him, one hand brushing up his thigh. “I’m Lyria.”
#
It was seven in the morning when Aelin found herself outside Rowan’s apartment.  She’d texted him twenty minutes ago saying she wanted to stop by before work.  Even though she knew it would only result in another frustrating argument--she wanted to try.  She needed to try to make things better with Rowan.
He buzzed her up just as the front doors to the building ratted open and a young woman stepped out.  She was pretty, Aelin noticed immediately.  Even with her disheveled hair and clothing that let everyone know what she’d been up to the night before.  But she smiled confidently at Aelin as she held the door open.
Aelin frowned, glancing at the woman's shirt, tucked into her black skirt.  It looked familiar, though Aelin couldn’t quite place it.  She shook the thought off as she got on the elevator, rehearsing what she would say to Rowan the entire way.
I love you.  I’m sorry.  We can make this work.  We can do better. We can make it through this.
She was almost ready to suggest therapy.  Because in all honesty, despite how hard things had been, she’d always imagined a life with Rowan.  A long life together.
The first words were on the tip of her tongue as she knocked on his door.  He opened it.  Not an ounce of sleep remained on his face.  Rather, he was alert.  Strange, he slept in as long as possible until his nine o’clock shift started just down the street.
“Hey,” she said, her speech forgotten.  She was just grateful to lay eyes on him after her texts went unread all last night.
“Hey.” His voice was soft, almost too soft, but he opened the door for her to come in.
The apartment was familiar and almost as much a home to her as her own place.  Not only because they were dating but because he lived with her cousin, Aedion.  But it seemed like Rowan was home alone.  Not surprising considering how Aedion was practically living with his girlfriend Lysandra.
“I was worried about you,” she said, turning to face him as he shut the door.  “You didn’t reply to any of my messages.”
“I was drunk,” he said.
True enough, despite how awake he was, Aelin could see his bloodshot eyes and the rings under his eyes.  He looked like hell.
“I want to talk,” she said.  Her hair was in a messy side bun that allowed for loose tendrils to wave in her face.  Brushing them haphazardly aside she eyed Rowan as he stood bare chested before her, his gym shorts slung low around his hips.  A black shirt was balled in his fists.
His mouth worked silently as he stared at her, as he stared at her with broken eyes and...shame.  But it was not the sort of shame Aelin had expected.  Especially not when he dropped his gaze almost immediately from hers.
“I want to talk too,” he said, the grip that he had on the shirt tightened.
“I want to make this work, Ro,” Aelin told him before he could continue. “I know it’s been hard, but I love you.  I need this to work.”
It wasn’t the speech she had planned on, but the words were simple and got her point across.
“Aelin,” Rowan rasped, stepping away from her. He raised a hand to tug through his hair that had grown out in the past month.  It wasn’t quite as long as when they’d first gotten together, but it was distinctly longer that Aelin remembered it being for a while.
Aelin waited for him to keep talking, but his voice trailed off slowly.  She tilted her head to the side, dread began boiling in her belly though she had no idea where it could be coming from.  This was Rowan after all.  Still, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
“Rowan,” Aelin said slowly.  But now she was the one who couldn’t continue.  Not when there was a ling scent in the apartment.  Something like flowers.  Not when the couch was in disarray and the pillows strewn about.
“I made a mistake,” he said.
And then Aelin knew.  The girl she saw leaving the building wearing that familiar shirt.  It was only familiar because it was a shirt Aelin had bought for Rowan months ago.  She stumbled back a step as the truth came to her. No matter how badly she wanted to believe it wasn’t true she couldn’t convince herself otherwise.
“I was drunk, dammit I was so drunk,” he said.  His voice kept coming.  That voice that had brought her so much pleasure was now a screech to her ears. “Baby, I didn’t even realize what was happening before it happened.”
He wouldn’t shut up.
Aelin was aware of the rambling though none of it made sense.  Because her Rowan wouldn’t do this.  Her Rowan never could have done this.
She didn’t notice when he stepped forward, one hand extending towards her.  When his hand landed on her shoulder, she flinched away.
“Fireheart.”  He pulled his hand back, but kept moving closer until she could feel the heat rolling off his body.  Until she could practically smell that floral perfume on his body.
“No, don’t you dare.” snapped.  Pushing him away she glared up at him.  A mix of pleasure and misery worked through her when she saw the anguish on his face.  Her emotions quickly melted into nausea.  “Who was she?”
Rowan stared at her. “I don't--”
“Who the hell was she?”
Rowan swallowed stiffly. “Her name was Lyria.  She was at the bar with me last night.  Dammit Aelin, I never wanted this to happen.”
“Then why did you let it?” Aelin couldn’t help the way her voice broke, the way tears burned in her eyes.
She was too busy trying to keep herself in one piece that she didn’t step away when Rowan moved for her again.  His arms came around her in a quick, warm embrace and his voice rumbled in her ears.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.  You have to believe me.”
“No.” Aelin said again.  Firmly pushing him away she spun around toward the door and dragged her fingers beneath her eyes. “You can’t just hug me and think that everything’s okay.”
“Aelin,” Rowan tried speaking again, but Aelin was already ripping his door open.
She stared at him as tears leaked down her cheeks. “You were the one person I never thought would hurt me like this.”
“Aelin!”
She slammed the door behind her and ran for the stairs of the building.  There was no sound that he was coming after her, but Aelin wouldn’t take chances.  She ran down the stairs and for the door.  She didn’t stop running until her car was speeding down the highway and she was flinging out a hasty text that she wouldn’t be into work that day.
And as she drove Aelin found that she had no idea where she was going.  The city rushed by in hasty disarray and still she drove.  Faster and faster.  And she didn’t think she would ever come back.

Imagine...being a demon and hunting Dean down
CarryOnCap’s Masterlist Dean Winchester Masterlist
Summary: When Dean says he knows you better than anybody, you’re surprised to find out that you may have more of a history with the Winchesters than you can remember...
Warnings: very slight Season 15 *SPOILERS* for like a paragraph; mentions of “need to kill”; slight angst and open-ish ending, but implied TFW 2.0 win
A/N: Written for @wayward-mikaelson‘s #Daily Imagine Prompt and (unintentionally) for @winchester-reload‘s #Suptober20 day 4 prompt “Brand” (even though I’m working on my actual entry sketches!)  Idk where this came from and it took a weird route. Also, there’s an unintentional...nod? paraphrasing maybe? of dialogue from CA: The Winter Soldier, so credit to the MCU writers for permanently snaking their way into my subconscious because my love for Steve and Bucky apparently knows no bounds.
Tumblr media
“If it isn’t the notorious Dean Winchester,” you sneered. “As fun as this little game of cat and mouse has been, you Winchesters are really starting to piss me off.”
They’d been tailing you all across the country and you’d had enough. Sure, you were a demon, but it wasn’t like you set out to hurt anyone. As long as everyone else could mind their own business, you liked to think you were pretty easygoing.
…aside from a few bloody slip ups here and there but, hey, who was counting?
At least you weren’t one of those crossroad douches in the soul collecting business. You preferred to spend your time topside, having fun and wreaking a little havoc now and again. It had been going just fine until those plaid-wearing pests became obsessed with you. Eventually you’d decided to hunt them down for a change so you could finally get a little peace.
You hadn’t spotted the tall, sasquatch Hunter yet, but you’d caught the green eyed one by surprise and knocked him to his knees. Glaring down at him with a smirk, you kept a firm hold on the pressure point of his shoulder to make sure he stayed right where you wanted him.
“Did the cat catch your tongue? Because, with all of our showdowns lately, I was expecting a little more of that quick wit you always seem to have stowed away.”
If you were being honest, he was a pretty fine piece of ass and you wouldn’t mind going a round or two with him under different circumstances. Even with the dopey look of intensity on his face, laced with...something you couldn’t quite put your finger on.
Distress? Of course it would make sense for him to feel that way--you were a demon after all. Was there a hint of longing in the way he was staring at you? Maybe he couldn’t help thinking you were attractive despite what you were.
Who cares? You practically growled at yourself, chasing away something nagging in the back of your mind that told you there was more to his reaction. Pretending you didn’t actually care because you were incapable of such feelings anymore.
“D’you remember me?” he asked, eyes darting back and forth between yours.
Fuck, he was gorgeous. And it was really hard not to get caught up in his eyes. Why did that piss you off so much?
“Of course I do. You two meatheads have been on my ass everywhere across this godforsaken world,” you spat. “I know we’ve had a grand ol’ time and all, but listen up because I’m only going to say this once-- Leave. Me. Alone. If I catch you two on my tail again, I won’t be such a ray of fucking sunshine.”
He studied you for a long moment, seemingly unfazed by your threat.
“What do you remember about becoming a demon?”
You narrowed your eyes and tilted your head at his question. “What does that have to do with anything? And why the hell would it matter to you?”
“Because it does. Now I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess you don’t remember a whole lot about what happened to you. That there’s some gaps you just can’t seem to fill in.”
“And let me guess--you just happen to have all the answers to that because you know me so well?”
“I do. I know you better than anybody.”
You weren’t sure what game he was trying to play or how he could possibly know how disconcerting it was that you couldn’t recall a damn thing before the last month or two. Your life as a human, your time in hell-- you didn’t have the slightest idea who you were or what had happened to you.
But there was no way you were going to listen to some Winchester--even if your gut told you he was telling the truth.
“I highly doubt that,” you retorted, seething with defiance.
“You know me--”
“No I don’t,” you snarled, unsure why his words were making you feel so unsettled.
“Your name is Y/N L/N. You’ve known me and Sammy your whole life. You--ngh--”
He flinched and groaned in pain when you tightened your grip, digging your thumb into the hollow area just below the crook of his neck and above his collarbone. With your other hand, you withdrew a large blade from the side holster you’d crafted yourself.
“Sorry, sweetheart. I’ve had enough of the foreplay.”
Dean threw a sidelong glance at the weapon. His nostrils flared as he clenched his jaw and fixed his olive eyes on you again.
“I know you’ve been bouncing around looking for answers on that blade. Just like I know that underneath that jacket of yours you’ve got a mark on your arm. And I know from the small trail of bodies you’ve been leaving behind that you’re trying to fight that hunger you have to kill anything and everything around you.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Your voice quivered between your gritted teeth.
“It’s called the Mark of Cain. And that right there is the First Blade.” He nodded toward the weapon without a trace of deceit on his face. “I know the calm you feel when you’ve got the blade in your hand. And that power flowing through you? It scares the hell out of you.”
You grimaced, placing the antique blade against his throat as your chest began to heave from the growing rage pulsing through your veins. What gave him the right to pretend he knew a damn thing about you?
Maybe he was right. Maybe you could admit the power did scare you sometimes. You didn’t exactly give a shit about right and wrong, but the overwhelming urge to kill left you feeling out of control. It was why you were trying to uncover answers about the brand on your arm. Why you were fighting a losing battle with the trembling hand gripping the blade now-- you wanted answers and you needed him to keep talking.
“How do you know all of this?” you demanded.
He swallowed uncomfortably and the blade bobbed against his Adam’s apple. “It was Chuck--uh, God. You’re a Hunter, Y/N. You, me, Sam, Cas, Jack--we’re family. Chuck’s trying to end the world and we were working to stop him. On our last run-in with him...we thought he killed you. But it turns out he sent you to some other universe he’d created. In this world I had the Mark and, when I died, I became a demon. In the other world he tossed you into, we think that’s what happened to you. ‘Bout a month or two ago, somehow you found your way back to this world and we’ve been trying to track you down ever since.”
Furrowing your brow, your eyes fell away from him as glimpses of the events he’d described flashed through your mind. You squeezed your eyes closed, trying to latch onto fragments of the hazy memories emerging from the depths of your subconscious...
Dean screaming your name, face contorted with horror. A small man with graying hair and a wicked grin snapping his fingers. Your hand gripping someone’s forearm, just as his strong hand grasped yours. The deep red energy that flowed from his arm to yours, searing through your veins until the Mark bubbled to the surface of your skin--the scar that was always itching to let the darkest parts of you reign free.
“We can help, Y/N. Me and Sam can fix this.” Dean’s gruff voice was resolute as he briefly glanced away and begged you to consider his offer. “Just come with us and we can cure you.”
His words stirred something in your chest, making you realize he had triggered the faint prick of some long forgotten emotion. A small part of you longed to go with him, but it was miniscule and insignificant when you considered that “fixing this” might mean getting rid of the Mark.
Despite the fear and lack of control it brought you, you were unwilling to give up the power or the blade. It was an addiction you had no intention of overcoming.
“Maybe I don’t want to be cured. The way I see it? There’s nothing to fix. Time to say goodnight, Dean-O.”
You raised the blade but, before you could strike, something cinched around your wrist. When the power coursing through you became dull, you turned in surprise to see that Sam had secured your wrist in one end of the cuffs he held. He reached for the blade with his free hand and swiftly dodged you when you lunged at him after releasing your hold on Dean.
Snarling in rage, you again swung at Sam while he tried to wrestle the blade from your grasp. Dean suddenly collided with your back, circling his arms around you as he pinned your limbs to your sides. You thrashed your head and screamed as you tried to escape, but his cheek was pressed between your shoulder blades, tucked safely away from your efforts of fracturing his nose with the back of your skull.
“It’s okay, Y/N,” he grunted, arms tense as he squeezed you tighter. “We’re gonna fix this. You’re okay, sweetheart.”
“Dean, I still...can’t...she’s too strong,” Sam grumbled.
You continued struggling while you gripped the blade with every bit of strength you had. As you fought the boys, you spotted a young man in a tan jacket walking toward you who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. He looked vaguely familiar and you surged toward him out of instinct, knowing he was a greater threat than the men holding you.
His hair was side swept, with a few of the sandy colored strands grazing his forehead. His eyebrows were drawn together over soft eyes, brimming with an array of emotions. The boy raised his hand in greeting, smiling in relief as if he’d managed to find a long lost family member.
“Hello, Y/N... We’re going to help you. I promise. Sam and Dean will find a way to fix this.”
“Do it, Jack!”
“Any time now, kid.”
The boys shouted in unison and you paused for a fraction of a second as another series of memories flooded you. Before you could make sense of them, Jack reached out and pressed two fingers to your forehead.
Your knees buckled and your eyes fluttered closed as you slipped into unconsciousness.

Cass has a surprise visitor after returning home from Hong Kong. She hasn't been in Gotham long, a lot's changed, but there are still people here she's happy to see.
Cass glided through the halls of the penthouse; the floors were perfect for sliding around in her socks. Though, ‘halls’ was being generous, she supposed. It was large, the rooms were spacious, but there were only two hallways. So much smaller than the manor. Less rooms, though more people, and plenty of space to fit them all.
She could hear the chatter from the kitchen. The boys had decided to play a board game before she’d gotten back for the night. Dick wanted her to join in for the next round, but she found those games a little boring, and she wouldn’t fall for Tim’s puppy dog eyes tonight. But… she was tempted. It was a collaborative game, they’d explained. You don’t fight each other, you work together. That part, she liked.
She brushed past Tim’s guest room, which was slowly becoming more permanent. The door was cracked open, and she peeked inside. Neat and tidy, with trinkets lining his desk and shelves. Tim had changed a lot; his room was never this clean before. On a hunch she poked her head around the door. Behind it sat a mound of dirty clothes, just next to the bathroom door. Smiling to herself, she noted the mess of products on the sink. He’d changed, but not all the way.
Damian’s door, she found closed all the way. Tim said he liked privacy, so she moved on. Dick’s door was wide open. The room was empty, aside from a messy bed. Hers was the same.
At least she thought her room was empty.
As she approached, she heard something moving inside, or someone. Whoever it was, was light on their feet, not very large, in the range of 120-150 pounds, and a bit anxious. The door was closed. She thought for a moment, and swiftly threw the door open, without making a sound.
A blond girl in jeans and a green sweater stared out the window at the night sky.
“Stephanie?” She recognized. The girl jumped and swiveled around.
“Cass?” A joyous grin broke out across her face, though her shoulders stayed tense and anxious. They quickly strode toward each other and met in the middle of the room. Steph’s hands twitched, reaching up, as if asking for-
Cass buried Steph in a hug at the realization. Steph laughed, giggling at her enthusiasm, and squeezed her back tightly. “I missed you.” They said at the same time. Steph laughed again in delight.
They parted, and Steph sat on the edge of the bed, Cass following suit. She still looked a bit nervous but radiated happiness as well. They sat there, staring at each other for a moment. Cass smiled, also a bit anxiously, but eagerly, she hadn’t seen her oldest friend in forever.
“Are you back for good?” Steph broke the silence. Cass nodded, she’d decided, after the gates of Gotham case, to stay. The family had fallen apart after Bruce had died, but she was ready to give it another shot, and so far, things were going well. Board games, movie nights. ‘Team bonding’, Dick called it. It had only been a week, but she’d gotten a turn to pick already. Rooftop tag. It was fun.
“Things are good.” She replied. Damian was starting to trust her, and Dick and Tim were happy. And well, she was happy too. She loved having her own city, but it’d been lonely. Spending time with people was exhausting, but her family made it easier somehow.
“That’s good.” Steph replied. Not a lie, but she still looked anxious. A thought flashed through her mind.
“You’re not happy I’m home?” She asked quickly, her heart sinking at the notion. Steph’s eyes widened in surprise.
“What? No! Cass, I’m so happy you came back.” Not a lie. Cass sighed in relief, she didn’t want anyone to be upset she was back.
“Then why are you nervous?” Steph’s hands were fidgeting slightly, hadn’t stopped since they’d met.
“Huh, I’m not- Okay never mind.” Her shoulders dropped sheepishly. “I can’t lie to you, can I?”
“Nope.” Cass popped the p, just like Steph used to whenever they talked before. No one could lie to her. Well. Almost no one.
“Okay but… promise you won’t be mad.” She looked serious. Cass nodded slowly, watching as Steph pulled a box off the corner of the bed and carefully opened the lid. Her old Batgirl costume was inside.
“Why would I get mad over that?” She gave the suit to Steph after all, she had her Black Bat suit now.
“You let me borrow it and I ruined it!” Steph’s voice was guilty. Cass looked at the costume again. Bullet holes and tears marked it.
“Are you okay?” Cass asked, those were a lot of holes.
“Ugh, none of us deserve you.” Grateful. For what? Cass tilted her head to show the confusion. “I thought you would be mad because you can’t use it anymore. I thought you would want it back.” Cass shrugged.
“I have a new suit now.” She assessed. She didn’t really care what she wore. Besides, if she wanted another Batgirl costume, Alfred could make one.
“Don’t you… want to be Batgirl again?” Steph sounded concerned, but Cass wasn’t sure why.
“I’m always Batgirl.” Cass stated. She thought for a moment. “Like Tim is still Robin.” It didn’t matter what they called each other; they were still them. “And you’re always a Spoil-sport.” She grinned smugly at the pun. Steph rolled her eyes, but she was amused.
“Well, you can be Batgirl if you want. I kind of miss eggplant.” Her eyes twinkled mischievously, and the corners of her lips twitched up into a smile.
“It’s a good color on you.” Cass agreed.
“How about, we both be Batgirl, and we can switch costumes, and no one will know who’s coming.” Stephanie grinned in excitement. Cass grinned too. It sounded fun.
“Deal.” She flopped back on her bed. Steph followed suit. “How was Gotham?”
“It’s been wild. It’s different, you know.” Cass hummed in agreement. “I’m in college now, that’s going well. My mom’s working as a nurse. I mean, you’re right, things are good. It’s just… different.”
“Batman and Robin.” Cass noted. Steph sighed.
“Yeah, I mean it sucks Bruce died, but Dick’s doing great. And Damian’s coming around.” Steph shifted, turning to face her. “I’m sorry he died, I know he just adopted you, that must suck.” Cass took a deep breath, watching sympathy pour out of Steph’s baby blue eyes. It did suck. Her chest panged in regret, wishing they’d had more time together. But she didn’t want to focus on the past.
“Yes.” She thought for a moment. “I still don’t understand.” She confessed. Butterflies swirled in her stomach, she didn’t want to make Steph upset, but she needed to know. “Why did you leave?” It had hurt, felt like her world was ending. It had hurt Tim too, and Bruce. Steph grimaced, she was clearly uncomfortable, rolling back, she faced the ceiling once more.
“I was mad at first. I didn’t really choose to go.” She admitted. Cass understood, she’d been made to do things she hadn’t wanted to do before. It sucked. “But it was good too. It took time to heal.” She pointed at her head. “Up here too.”
“You hit your head?” Cass had been shot in the head once. Wasn’t fun.
“No like. I needed to think things out. Get in the right headspace.” She shook her head, not really understanding.
“Why’d you go to Hong Kong?” Steph asked. She thought for a moment.
“It hurt. To be around people.” She wasn’t sure how to describe it. She couldn’t stay in the manor. It was painful to be in the Cave. She never bled, but her chest had always ached, and something felt stuck in her throat. So, she left. And being alone hurt too, but in a different way. Steph looked at her sympathetically.
“That’s why I stayed, thinking about coming back hurt. I was scared, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I just… didn’t know what to do.” Groaning, she rolled over again. “It’s a mess.” Regretful. But a little hopeful. “Can we… still be friends?” The hope made her heart flutter.
“Yep.” She agreed. Steph smiled, warmly, like the sun.
“Thanks Cassie.” She didn’t really understand what she was being thanked for, but as the nickname rolled off Stephanie’s tongue, she felt more at home than she had in years. They lay still, enjoying each other’s company for a while longer.
Eventually, Steph sat up, hopping off the bed. “Alright, let’s go do something fun kay? How bout we go kick the guys’ asses at Just Dance.”
“Wait.” Cass walked over to her suitcase. “I got you something.” She pulled out a box. She’d collected things, from everywhere she visited. Picked up things that reminded her of family. She hadn’t really planned on giving them away, but now she had the real people, she didn’t need them anymore. She pulled out a purple ‘Lucky Cat’.
“Oh my gosh! I love it!” Steph cradled it carefully in her hands. “Cass this is so sweet, I love it.” Cass beamed; she liked it too. And she made Steph happy with it, maybe it really was lucky. Steph smiled wider, clasping her hand and dragging her out through the hall, running so she could slide behind her on the perfectly slippery floors.
And so, with whatever luck the cat could grant them, they were on their way to kicking butt at Just Dance. As the night wore on, laughs grew louder, and Cass was reminded again, how things had changed, but how change wasn’t always bad. The penthouse wasn’t as big as the Manor, and Gotham wasn’t as big as Hong Kong, but with her family, somehow her life seemed larger, and fuller again.
Things could have turned out better, but they could have been worse too. And they would get better. Much better, as long as they all stuck together. There would be more difficult conversations to be had, but it was reassuring, knowing that after all they’d been through, she still had her best friend by her side.

Note
For the writing prompts, could you do BatCat for 13?
She came and went. That was her whole thing, that was the basis for everything. That was just how she was, just how they were. It was just Selina being Selina.
He couldn’t fucking stand it. And yet he understood it. He knew her, knew why she needed to feel like she could always leave. It was so he couldn’t leave her. Which broke his heart into about a million pieces.
Bruce tugged at the eyes of his cowl. He was going to have to ask Alfred about putting some padding or something to stop it from digging into his brow. His old one hadn't done this. Just because Lucius didn’t think the previous model was perfect didn’t mean it hadn't worked. Well, kind of worked. It’s not like a small concussion was that big a deal, he was only twenty one.
He didn’t have much to do tonight. Crime had gone down slightly in the last few weeks and he suspected that the general opinion of Gotham’s underworld was that if they waited him out, The Batman would go away. They had held off on anything major, leaving him with just a few low level thugs. All low level except her.
As much as he probably shouldn’t, Bruce admired Selina. Much of the initial awe at someone his age who could and did do things for themselves has worn off years ago but now as Batman. . .
He had gone halfway around the world, getting training from Cain, discipline from centuries old tests of indurence, and a God knows how many dollar suit, designed by one of the most brilliant men he knew. And Selina, true to form had side stepped the work, ignored or stole the resources she’d need and ended up being better then he was anyway. She was really good at this. Selina, or Catwoman had gone for simplicity and style over anything else. She wasn’t going out looking for a fight like he was. Her goal was to be in and out before she ever had to bare her claws. That didn’t mean she backed away from a fight when he showed up.
Bruce had tried reasoning with her at first. Tried to talk her out of this.
‘Just give me the necklace, Cat. You can walk, I won’t try to stop you,’
She hadn’t even answered, he just heard the crack of her whip and felt it wrap around his ankle. That had been when she pulled. Hard.
His head had smacked against the floor (hence the concussion from his first mask) and his vision separated before the two Selina’s morphed back into one and he jumped to his feet. She was laughing, and flipping backwards into slow backbends, dodging the lasers as they moved.
Cat got up gracefully at the entrance to the museums gem display, standing under the skylight she had cut a hole in, her dark tan skin glowing in the moonlight.
‘Shit’
“Let me help you Selina,” he had called out, feeling awkward and second guessing the cape. Was the batsuit, or whatever they were calling it too much? It felt like too much. Especially when she looked like that.
“Bat,” she called out, climbing up to the ceiling, “I appreciate the offer,” from where he was standing it looked like she was smiling. Why was she smiling, this was a robbery? This was a robbery, why wasn’t he stopping her?
“But I don’t need your help,”
That was the last time he had let her go (and he had let her go, no matter what Alfred had said as he held the ice pack to his head). It’s not like he was going to hurt her for real. Fighting with her didn’t bring the same frustrations of feeling more like a kid playing dress up then a white knight or whatever he was supposed to be. Fighting with Selina was . . . a game, kind of, he wasn’t sure exactly. It was confusing, she was confusing and he felt sixteen again every time, because she was infuriating.
And he loved every second of it.
Which is why he noticed when it had been weeks since he had seen her. On a rooftop, at a gala, in a bank, a jewelry store. He didn’t give a damn where, but if he went one more night without her trying to steal something-
That sounded bad. Bruce didn’t want her to break the law. But he wanted her to sneak into the manor late at night, wanted her to perch on the arm of his chair and ask about any scratches like they hadn’t come from her. He could act the part of the playboy but it was still Selina he wanted there in the morning.
Bruce sighed and checked the time. It was almost four am. She wasn’t going to show up. He should probably loose the cape.
It was too early when Alfred woke him up, afternoon sunlight pouring through the the windows as the drapes were pulled back by his very clearly sadistic butler who turned on the shower, told him to stop sulking and go shave, turned an abrupt 180 and left the room muttering something about teenagers. Bruce would have shouted back a reminder that he was an adult but the fact that he currently had burrowed into his covers to avoid the daylight seemed to hurt his point.
The rest of the day was filled with Alfred trying to fit all the calories he missed by sleeping through breakfast into one meal (he could live with protein powder but it didn’t belong in orange juice) and being quizzed on board members and their wives. Because on top of everything a bunch of people he didn’t care about were coming to his house.
If Carter Hearst didn’t stop talking about his newest secretary like she was a piece of meat he was going to stab a steak knife into his own thigh. Or the shriveled old man making his way through a bottle and a half of scotch. Both would work. Bruce was trying to silently communicate to Lucius a message to save who ever this woman was and have her work for literally anyone else, when he saw her.
Barely a second and it was only a glimpse of the side of her face before she disappeared back into the crowd but everything in him knew it was Selina. He didn’t even realize he was craning his neck till Lucius’s foot connected with his ankle disapprovingly. Right, yeah, people.
“You’ll all have to excuse me,” he said, grinning broadly trying to really turn on the charm, do anything to get him out of the table. She was not slipping through his fingers like this, not when he hadn’t seen her for months.
“I see an executive I really do have to talk to. You all know how it is, I’m sure.”
“Which executive?” Lucius asked, feigning interest as the old man tried to keep the laughter off his face. Bruce glared and desperately tried to think of a name off the Wayne Enterprises directory.
“David Clemonte,”
Lucius took a sip of his drink and rubbed his beard thoughtfully “I could’ve sworn I remember Daniel telling me he wouldn’t be able to attend tonight,”
Was there a way of him faking a medical emergency that would require him to get to Selina? No, right?
“Ahh no, he was referring to the benefit in July. My mistake,”
Bruce was able to manage a forced chuckle before he all but sprinted away. She was out one one of the balconies that opened from the ballroom. He ran a hand through his hair and walked out to join her.
“Cat,”
Selina turned and everything in his stomach tightened. She had her hair pulled up to one side with a clip and earrings made of tiny gold strands brushed her shoulders. Her dress was black with straps crossing back and forth over her back and two slits in the skirt up her thighs.
“Hi,” she said in a way that made it very clear he had been caught staring. “Nice party, don’t really know anyone but I guess that’s what happens when you gatecrash,”
“I don’t either, not really,” he pointed out, taking a sip of her champagne, which if he was being honest, he preferred a thousand times over to the dark amber whiskey he had drank with the board. “These things are boring when you’re gone,”
Selina looked uncomfortable but laughed it off, and it sounded fake and hollow “Yeah well, I am kind of your only friend,”
“That’s not why I missed you,”
She turned away from him, staring out at the garden “I’m sorry,”
“You don’t need to be sorry,” he didn’t know why she was. It’s not like they were . . . she didn’t owe him anything.
They were silent for a moment before she turned to him, took her glass out of his hand and tipped her head back, finishing it off with so little class it made him smile.
“Do you ever feel a kind of deja vu? Ever since,” Selina’s eyes flicked upwards to the roof and she smirked, “you know. Like we’re starting again but we both know we’ve done this before,”
“Groundhog’s Day,”
Her brow furrowed “I’ve never seen that movie,”
Bruce rolled his eyes “Okay, this and Star Wars, really?”
“Why would I watch boring movies? I’m pretty.” she teased and everything seemed to fall back into place. “Besides not all of us grew up with movie theaters in our house.”
“I know that,” he said sheepishly.
Selina snorted, that weird little snicker she did every time she had him beat, but she was smiling.
“What do you know?”
“I missed you,”

I have been too shy to talk to you as I haven't been a fan of The Sandman for very long. I hope that's okay and I love your fan fiction. I am almost done reading volume 6 Fables and Reflections and I would like to know how would you rank the stories in it from most favorite to least favorite? Also how would you rank the stories in the third volume Dream Country from most favorite to least favorite?
Hello,
Oh, sure! Don't be shy. I won't bite (unless asked. ;-) I love talking about The Sandman. And welcome to the fandom! I still consider myself new too. I only finally read it for the first time in 2017 and others of my age group were reading them since the 90s. So I'm making up for lost time.
Let's see.
Fables and Reflections in order of favorite to least favorite...
There are so many good ones in this one it's hard to decide.
Fear of Falling - I love this one. Morpheus is helpful and inspiring and it's very pro-creativity and pro-taking chances on yourself and what you do, artistically. Note: Not every version of Fables and Reflections comes with this but the 30th anniversary one does and I'm using that to make this list.
Soft Places - I like this one a lot. It tells the nature of The Soft Places / the Shifting Zones. It's a good story and you get to see characters at different points in their adventures. You have Marco Polo of the thirteenth century, Gilbert obviously shortly after A Game of You but before Brief lives. And Morpheus, fresh from his captivity, right before Imperfect Hosts. This is before Gregory found him and brought him to The House of Mystery to recover. And you can see his character growth. Marco Polo gives him water and in return he uses his last bit of strength to help Marco Polo get home. It's sweet.
Parliament of Rooks - I love this one. It introduces us to the concept of The Lil' Endless, we get to see baby Daniel apparently lucid dreaming while still only a toddler. We get the story of Eve. And it's always great to see Cain and Abel as storytellers. I also love seeing Matthew mock Cain and compare him to Vincent Price. "That Bargain basement Vaudevillian!" Hehe.  (I love Vincent Price.)  Also Goldie is very distinctly gendered as he here, repeatedly. So why is it, I wonder, that in all the spin-off versions of The Dreaming Goldie is suddenly a she?
Thermidor - I like Johanna Constantine. And this is the first appearance (I believe) of Orpheus other than his brief mention in Calliope and the stand-alone Sandman: Special Song of Orpheus. I also really like Jessamy. (*Glares at David S. Goyer* YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID! ....I'm okay... JESSSSAMY!!!! (You'll get that in about a year I think...)
The Hunt - Who doesn't love a slightly subversive werewolf story / fairy tale? Also Lucien looks great here and we get to see him pro-actively protecting his library.
Song of Orpheus - Some versions of Fables and Reflections don't have this story as it was originally a stand alone one shot but it's absolutely necessary if you aren't well versed in Greek mythology. It essentially retells the myth of Orpheus but with The Endless and Morpheus as his father (Many think Apollo was his father). It's very well told and you really feel for Orpheus. This is not a comfortable story to read but gives you an idea of what Morpheus was like at his most... assholary. It's also really well drawn.
Ramadan - I like this one.  The artwork is a little busy but I do love Morpheus’ entrance into the story.  Again this is back during his asshole days and there is some good commentary here.  It’s also very respectful to the Islamic faith.   I love Morpheus’ outfit in this one.
Three Septembers and a January. - This is a good one. Dream vs. Despair. And the real world, historic, Emperor Norton gets to appear in The Sandman. It's historically accurate (save for The Endless) and actually very respectful to history.
August - This one is good but a little sad, a little depressing. It's very well drawn and it introduces us to the raven Aristeas, the poet. Poor Morpheus, welcome to the running gag of being mistaken as Apollo. There's some abuse in here, if I remember right. And Morpheus is a little callous, as he often was before his "Time out" bubble.

Dream Country in order of favorite to least favorite
A Midsummer Night’s Dream - I love this one.  We get to see William Shakespeare for the first time since Men of Good Fortune (the story that introduces us to Hob Gadling).  A Midsummer Night’s Dream happens to be my favorite Shakespearean play. I always loved Puck even if Neil did feel the need to turn him into a little psychopath.
If you pay careful attention you see that Shakepseare’s son is tempted with faery fruit and so will be turned into a faery by the eating of it, as is how it goes in some folklore.  Sometimes it places you under the faery’s spell. Sometimes it makes you one of them.  In this case he becomes an immortal faery and that’s a much better fate than dying (I hope.)  He does end up Titania’s slave (Unfortunately fae are a race with a very slave-based class system) but fae are strange and fickle and maybe he enjoys his role serving her and prefers it to the short life he would have had as a human.
This is also the story where we get the famous “Shadow truths” speech from Morpheus, which I hope will be in the new Netflix series.   And we learn that it’s thanks to Morpheus that mortals will continue to dream of, think of, and even believe in the fae for years to come thanks to him having Shakespeare write that play. He has helped to sustain faery magick in our world and I like that.
Calliope - This one is a very difficult read since it addresses concepts like slavery, dehumanizing, forced imprisonment and rape.   It’s the second time we see non-human creatures being dehumanized by being stripped of clothing and not being perceived as a person. The first time was with Morpheus, himself, in the very first issue, Sleep of the Just.   This one is difficult to read because you feel so bad for Calliope.  But the revenge Morpheus takes for her is so satisfying.  I hope the Netflix show doesn’t change it too much.  I know how modern audiences and writers feel about “White knights” and might want Calliope to save herself but I think it’s important to show Morpheus coming to her aid because it reveals how much character growth he’s had.  That he knows he treated her poorly back when they were married.   And again, the revenge he takes for her is very satisfying.
Dream of a Thousand cats - I love animals.  I love cats.  I have three cats of my own.  Two of them I adopted the very day I read Dream of a Thousand cats for the first time (by pure coincidence).  The death of the kittens is something very difficult for me.   That is gut wrenching.  But I do love the concept that if a thousand souls dream the same thing at the same time it has the potential to re-write all of reality is that things were always a certain way.  This also nicely foreshadows the story we get in The Sandman: Overture and I love Overture.
Façade - I’m sorry to say I kind of dislike this one.  I don’t think it’s what Neil intended but if feels like it romanticizes death a bit (as a concept, not a person).  You have a protagonist who is clearly clinically depressed and isolated and the best answer is apparently suicide!?  What she needed was a real friend, one that wouldn’t judge her by her appearance, and perhaps counseling.  A friend of mine attempted suicide a few summers ago and I had to hastily contact her mother on Facebook while it was happening so that may have impacted how I see this story.  This is one of those stories where I don’t think Death is as kind and sweet as so many fans think she is.  She came off as rather callous to me and not really friendly, and Kat Dennings’ delivery in the audio drama verison didn’t help matters.
I’m glad The Sandman audio drama reversed the order for A Midsummer Night’s Dream and façade.  I think A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a much better place to end on than Façade.
