I’m thinking about how Varian likely had no friends before he met Rapunzel which led to him latching onto her and his relationship with her being slightly one sidedly codependent, which made her betrayal all the more painful. I’m thinking about how after he is redeemed he latched onto her even more because she’s practically his savior and his only friend. He only wants to be around her, he places his self worth on her feelings of him, he overthinks every interaction, he is devastated when she doesn’t give him attention, and he is heartbroken when he realizes he’s not her closest friend, when she is his.

The singular headcanon I hold as gospel in my heart of hearts - Eddie’s mom was the most lovely woman you’ve ever met and she died when he was around 10-12 years old. One thing not a lot of people knew about her though? She was brilliant with a guitar.

Her father taught her how to play folk and bluegrass when she was young. She was a natural. She taught Eddie too. He was not a natural. He was actually pretty goddamned awful to listen to, for a while. Like, a while. But she was always patient with him. Proud of every small improvement.

When she got sick, and her hands were too frail to hold down the heavy strings, she asked Eddie to sit by her bed and play for her. She said she preferred listening to him over the radio, and of course he thought she was lying to be nice, but she really, really wasn’t.

He was determined to learn to play her favorite song, an old folk song. Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You. It was a complicated one, there’s some pretty technical finger picking, but she talked him through every note. And little Eddie kept practicing and practicing. It was still rusty but he was getting there and he wanted more than anything to play it for her perfectly all the way though.

She died before he got the chance.

And secretly that will always be Eddie’s biggest regret. That he never got to play his mom her favorite song, not perfectly. Not like he wanted to. He can probably play that song backwards and forward in his sleep these days - but it’s too late now.

(What he didn’t realize is that having her son by her bedside, keeping her company as they sang along to her favorite song again and again while he practiced - those were some of the most cherished moments of her entire life)

Ever think about how for Sketchpad the fires are a good, tangible, way to represent always messing up.

No matter what he does. No matter how hard he tries, he messes up. Things go up in flames, literally. He does one thing, presses one button, and it was the wrong thing to do. He fails at getting job, one interview after another. Even if he gets one, (being a detective or being in an ad), it’s not long until he messes up again.

He doesn’t mean to. He doesn’t want to. He doesn’t know why everything always goes up in flames. He can never do anything right.

I love the father figure Dazai headcanons as much as the next guy but please if Dazai was a father he’d be the dad that your mom divorced because he kept cheating on her and he blames her for ruining their marriage in front of you every chance he gets when you’ve never heard her say so much as a mean thing about him to your face.

He has visitation rights every weekend but most weekends you spend sitting out by the curb outside of your house for 6 hours because he said he’d come pick you up and never did so your mom has to eventually tell you to come inside and eat the reheated dinner you rejected an hour ago because you thought you’d eat dinner at dads house. And after you go to bed that night you hear her argue on the phone with him about how you deserve a father figure in your life.

But when you do go over to his house you get to spend the weekend eating nothing but hamburger helper’s, Mac and cheese, and baked beans with boiled hotdogs, you also get to do nothing but sit on the floor next to the one folding chair he owns in front of the milk crate that has his tv and beat up ps4 on it while you watch him play call of duty.

Forsaken AU where Two Time after being forsakened realized how awful their religion has been for them and how much trauma they have from it that they excommunicate themselves from their cult. Then try to heal from wounds and after a while they feel better (sort of). They hit bumps in the road where they still feel like they’re being watched by the spawn or judged for living their life how they want to and not how their cult wanted them to. They also struggled taking care of themselves for THEMSELVES and not for the cult they were in.

Bonus if all this happens in limbo and has to deal with the guilt of Azure. Yes Azure is still a killer. Yes this affects Two Time tremendously and puts them out of service for a while.

Lighthearted bonus: Azure and Two Time make up EVENTUALLY after a while and while they will never be the same (they’re not dating anymore obviously) they do find comfort in each other over what has happened to them both in the cult. It’s awkward but it’s proof that neither of them are imagining their struggles.
