I just think Shawn and Gus are really neat. Two pretty best friends that embody what it means to be ride or die.

Gus needs help covering up his presence at a crime scene? Shawn is right beside him making an even worse mess of it.

Gus is taken hostage during a bank robbery? Shawn has somehow found his way into the bank and gets them out.

Shawn needs a distraction while he’s solving the Yang case? Gus is in the room impersonating Michael Jackson.

Shawn is kidnapped and shot? Gus is joining the search for him. And when he tells Shawn not to jump on the blueberry? Shawn abides and finds another way off the runaway truck.

They’re the blueprint for codependent best friends. They wrote the book on it and will literally follow each other to the ends of the earth.

Ok, big endgame spoilers for DAV but I need to scream into the void because I don’t think we stopped enough to talk about the fact that Lucanis literally stabbed a God, twice, and even killed her the second time.

He killed her.

Sure, he had help, and someone always dies to give him the shot, but do you understand how fucking big of a deal that is?????

Actions so important and plot relevant as that are usually reserved for the main character/protagonist of a game, especially in an rpg.

And here comes our little assassin, who we recruited to kill gods but who we all know, from a narrative standpoint, has no chance to actually deal the final blow, and he fucking deliveres.

We still get the big boss, sure, but he still got one. He defied narrative preconceptions and finished his contract.

How fucking metal is that?????

And can you imagine, once this is all over, how the other crows must see him? He was already a legend before and now he’s the crow that managed a successful contract on a freaking god.

Can you imagine the awe? The fear? The sheer terror his next target would feel knowing the man who killed a god is after them?

And if Rook is a crow the same goes for them!

The crows are already infamous, could you imagine how their reputation would skyrocket even more knowing that not just one, but possibly two of them managed to kill a god????

One might a fluke, an outlier among them (which Lucanis already is since he’s considered the best they have). But two?! It begins to be a pattern. Sign of skill and competence for the whole guild.

Caterina would love that shit. What better marketing strategy than “if need be, we can kill gods btw” could she get.

And can you imagine if crow Rook and Lucanis are romancing each other??? Who would dare to even think opposing the two assassins that literally killed gods??? Bet the usual crow shenanigans would stay clear of them.

Harry whisper things in your ear even when you’re alone. Things he could have easily said out loud. He’ll come up behind you and wrap his arms around your waist just to whisper something like “I’m going to the store, do you need anything?”

Harry’s always watching you but not in a creepy stalker way. (Although it could be perceived that way with his unmoving unblinking stare.) he observes every move you make simply because he likes looking at you. And he’ll tell you that if you ask.

Love language is acts of service….he likes to do a lot of your mundane tasks for you. Tying your shoe, cutting and messuring ingredients while your cooking/baking, etc…

And if you’re hyper-independent it’s especially satisfying to him when you let him do things for you. He likes it when you get all huffy and start declining his help like “no I can do it” or “it’s just a little thing I can handle it” because he enjoys the way you melt when “I know but I want to do it for you.”

I like to imagine that the reason Scott (in character) is so prone to self sacrifice ties back to his inability to save Jimmy in third life. I just think it would be fun if that loss effected him so deeply that he vowed never to give up the opportunity to put his life on the line to protect someone he cares about again, to never be left to mourn and wonder what he could’ve done different.

He’s been the Winner, he’s been the widowed husband, and he hated it. He hated being the last one standing, the one left behind in the wake of everyone he’s lost. He looks at his new allies, friends, lovers, and he sees golden hair and red eyes and a lifeless body spilling blood onto the sand, he sees someone he couldn’t save and he sees a chance to Try Again.

It’s a loss that he carries not just across games but across worlds, like a permanent chip in his very code. It’s the reason why he was so ready to give his life in empires s1, knowing that every moment he was still alive he risked losing someone he loved to Xornoth. It’s the reason his happiest endings are in his afterlife, when death can no longer reach the ones he loves. When he’s already done everything he possibly could. When he’s allowed to rest.
