Reading reviews for the Apollo Justice trilogy have got me feeling like I’m in the emperor’s new clothes fable.
#I’m not going to tag the games themselves because I don’t want to just piss on someone’s parade#like if they genuinely enjoyed them#but they are??? not good games???#even putting aside the disasterous decision to revert everyone back to their personalities at the beginning of the story#giving Apollo a new backstory every case just for funsies#and the myriad of grammatical errors that they could have patched but chose not to#(though I’m sure those are fixed on the switch)#they are just. bad games.#they are tedious#like in SoJ when you have to inspect everything in buff’s study#and then talk to Ema#and then inspect everything again?#or half the witnesses where they’re giving you nothing#but you have to press each statement anyway to get more nothing before you can move on#like you did have to do that a few times when shu was still in charge#but they absolutely overdo it with this one#it’s agony#am I the only person who can see the emperor has no clothes???#is it just me????#maybe I’m wrong????

Flash your crush or eat your friend's potentially hazardous takeout leftovers? The dare is a no-brainer, even if your crush happens to have permanent resting bitch face and has made a few of the college freshmen almost piss themselves in fear. You know he's not all hard edges, so what's the harm?
Cross-posted from my AO3 account.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I dare you to flash Sanemi,” Makio slurred, the four drinks she’d slammed starting to affect her speech.
You laughed, taking a sip of your spiked lemonade- the only alcoholic drink you could handle as the lightweight of your college group. You were barely on your second and already feeling quite the buzz; chest light and a weightlessness to your limbs that would turn to lead once the booze began to wear off.
“You want me to walk all the way to the boy’s hall to flash Sanemi? The resident hardass?”
Makio grinned, bringing the amber bottle to her lips and keeping eye contact while she took a deep pull. It was always astonishing to watch her retain most of her fine motor skills even when sloshed to high heaven while you would fail a drunk driving test sober. You’d already missed your mouth once, resulting in a rapidly drying spot on your shirt that still smelled like booze.
“You gonna take the penalty instead?”
“Ew, no,” you waved your hand, cringing at the idea of having to eat whatever leftover (and probably moldy) food was stuffed in the back of Suma’s fridge. The girl had a habit of forgetting takeout and growing new strains of bacteria that should probably be classified as hazardous waste and disposed of as such. “I like my life, thank you.”
“It’s not that bad!” Suma sipped her drink, lip wobbling. “I cleaned it out last month. You guys are so meaaaaan!”
“Get going, then,” Shinobu waved you off, smiling lazily and swirling the glass of wine she was nursing. “And one of us will tail you to make sure you don’t chicken out.”
“I’m glad you all will be enjoying this,” you stood, almost toppling over as the floor swayed. “Because I’m 100% sure I’ll be getting chewed out for flashing my tits instead of the thanks I deserve for blessing him with this view.”
“You can cry yourself to sleep later,” Makio called after you, laughter from the large group echoing behind you, a stupid, drunk smile still on your face.
The boy’s hall was one floor down, and you didn’t trust yourself on the stairs, so you had to wait for the elevator. Heat rolled off your skin from the warmth of the room you’d just left- it had been near suffocating with the bodies of all your friends pressed together in a game of Spin-the-Bottle. The suggestion had come from Mitsuri, and the rest of you agreed, eager for some fun and laughs. The dares had started off simple, as had the truths, devolving into more debauched and crazy requests as the alcohol hit everybody’s systems.
The elevator doors finally opened, and you entered, mashing the button for the floor below yours while leaning against the wall languidly.
It was Hinatsuru who’d actually gotten you into this predicament, if you really thought about it. The conversation had turned to the boy’s hall earlier on in the game, around the time you’d chosen truth on your turn.
“Fuck, marry, kill,” Hinatsuru said. “With Tengen, Sanemi, and Kyojuro.”
Your answer had surprised everyone, leaving mouths agape around the entire circle when you chose to off the infamous lady-killer Tengen, marry the college heart-throb Kyojuro, and fuck Sanemi Shinazugawa. No explanation was provided in the following uproar, but you hadn’t been so drunk as to miss the devious sparkle that lit in Makio’s eyes. She’d been waiting for you to choose “dare” and pounced the moment the words had left your lips.
Now you were stumbling down the hall, counting doors until you reached room 413. You paused for a fraction of a second, wondering if you should think through the all the possibly embarrassing outcomes, but didn’t let the hesitation sway your resolve. Rapping on the door, you tucked a stray hair behind your ear. A few moments passed and you wondered if maybe Sanemi was out, and you wouldn’t have to complete the dare. Maybe you’d get a pass (and also wouldn’t have to consume any of the potentially fatal food from Suma’s fridge).
The universe had other plans, however, as the door opened to reveal a scowling white-haired man. The black sweats he wore hung low on his hips, a white undershirt clinging to his torso and leaving his shoulder bare. The jagged scars across his entire body did nothing to hinder the butterflies starting to dance in your gut at the sight of him.
He’d been your crush since you started school, and until tonight you’d hidden it pretty well. Almost everyone thought he was a grumpy asshole (which he could be sometimes), and you’d even been half-frightened to death the first time you’d seen him, his sharp voice making your heart stutter in fear, but the trepidation quickly faded as you watched him interact with faculty and some of the younger students. He was respectful, if blunt, and even if he was a bit harsh on the new kids, he went out of his way to make sure they got to the right classes. You’d caught the tail end of his conversation with what you assumed was his younger brother a few weeks back that solidified your perception of him to be correct: he was a big softie underneath that prickly exterior.
It also didn’t hurt that Sanemi was gorgeous to look at. He obviously took good care of himself, and had stunning features: lavender eyes, white hair, and long lashes. He wasn’t as tall as some of the other guys in school, like Tengen, but you didn’t give a flying fuck when his body looked like that and his voice had that raspy growl when he spoke.
“What do you want?”
The flat tone broke through your thoughts, snapping you back to reality where Sanemi stood with his arms crossed and a bored look on his face. As much as you felt like throwing up from the way your nerves were turning the butterflies in your stomach into poisonous slugs, you grabbed the hem of your shirt and flipped it up. The cool air of the hall raised gooseflesh on your stomach and tits, and you almost shivered.
The look on Sanemi’s face went from blank, to confused, to alarmed in less than a second, and you wished you could have recorded it to watch later. You dropped your top back down, tilted your head with a coy smirk, and clasped your hands behind your back as you took a step back, turning on your heel to head back to your friends without a word, dare complete.
“What the hell-”
A hand encircled your wrist and you paused, looking back at Sanemi.
“Yeah?”
Sanemi looked lost, an expression you hadn’t expected to see on his face after your little display. His tongue darted out to wet his lips, the faintest blush dusting his ears and the high point of his cheek bones.
“What was that for?” he demanded, finally finding his voice.
“A dare,” you shrugged, answering before your brain caught up with your mouth.
He let go of your hand, straightening and recovering his usual pissy frown. You stayed rooted to where you were, staring at him with a curious gaze.
“Just a dare? Not… ‘cause you wanted to?”
He sounded borderline petulant if your ears were hearing things right. You kicked aside your nerves to step closer, meeting his eyes and getting uncomfortably close to him.
“Can’t it be both?”
He swallowed, eyes flickering down to your parted lips.
“Is… it?”
You lidded your eyes, grinning up at him, a breath away from his face. His own eyes were starting to grow a bit hazy with want, sending a thrill through you.
“Why don’t you use some context clues?”
“Why don’t you spell it out for me?” he countered, hands coming up to rest gently on your hips.
You caught your lip between your teeth, sliding your fingers under the edges of the narrow white straps of his tank top and tugging him closer.
“I want you to fuck me.”
Sanemi’s arms were around you before you realized it, and your world was literally turned on its head as he picked you up, throwing you over his shoulder. A doorframe passed your view, and the creak and slam let you know that you were inside his room before he threw you onto the bed, eyes filled with lust.
“Say the word,” he caged you in with his arms. “And I’ll stop.”
“What do I say to make you keep going?” you asked playfully, sliding your hands down his chest.
Sanemi made a noise in his throat, surging forward to capture your lips with his. His tongue danced along your teeth and you nipped at his lower lip, wrapping your arms around his neck. Sage green covers crumpled under your back as you writhed under the feeling of his thumbs rubbing circles just above your hip bones.
“I didn’t get a good look at these earlier,” Sanemi pulled back breathlessly, hooking his fingers under your shirt and lifting it to your chin. “Open.”
You obeyed, and Sanemi stuffed the hem of your top into your mouth, making you hold it up while he dropped to lavish your breasts with attention. One calloused thumb pad brushed over the pebbled nub, sending sparks throughout your body, whimpers escaping around the fabric clenched in your teeth. His tongue pressed against the other nipple, enveloping it in heat. You tried to draw your legs up, but Sanemi forced them apart with one knee, pressing into your crotch. You squirmed against it, trying to get friction, not caring if you looked desperate.
Sanemi pulled back, relieving you completely of your shirt as he tugged it over your head. Your mouth finally free, you propped yourself up on your elbows to chase his lips. He obliged you, letting the taste of his mouth fill yours, a hand dropping to trace your skin with blunt fingertips. Everything was heady from alcohol and lust, and you giggled against his touch. It was like a dream: you and Sanemi.
The hunger for more was quickly sinking its teeth into your stomach.
You pushed yourself up, forcing Sanemi’s compliant form back until he was sitting on his knees. Hands found their way to his waistband, and he assisted in removing the offending fabric. Hot, moist breath fanned over his erect member, one of his hands already buried in your hair. You pressed the flat of your tongue to the underside, licking up and reveling in the sharp intake of breath above you.
“Fuck,” Sanemi groaned.
You took him into your mouth, swirling your tongue around the dark pink head to hear those lovely noises that he tried desperately to hold back escape from his throat. Scarred hands had threaded through your hair and gripped tightly, controlling your movements. Spit dripped down the sides of his dick and clung at the corners of your mouth as Sanemi fucked your face, eyes locked on where his cock slipped in and out of your swollen lips.
“Shit,” he cursed, pulling you off of him after a particularly deep thrust that had left you gagging around him. “Are you-”
“Good,” you assured him, eyes half closed in contentment, flickering downwards as you caught your lips between your teeth.
“Lay down,” Sanemi instructed, an amused smile creeping onto his face as you scrambled to obey.
He moved to between your legs, a hand dropping to slide against the bundle of nerves at the apex of your sex. You whimpered, wriggling against his touch and clutching the sheets with both hands.
“Touch your tits,” Sanemi said. “Since you were so intent on showing off earlier.”
You flushed a deep ruddy color, hands hesitantly coming up to brush over your breasts as a sliver of embarrassment wormed its way into your brain. Sanemi watched your face, your own gaze obscured by lowered lashes and intent on staring at his hand moving at your core.
“Look at me,” he commanded, drawing your eyes to his. “Say my name.”
“S-Sanemi.”
Now that Sanemi was controlling the situation, you found yourself more nervous and unsure of yourself, not used to having the attention on you like this during sex: his smoldering intense gaze and demand for eye contact unsettled- but also thrilled- you.
“Again,” Sanemi pressed one finger against your entrance.
“Sanemi…” you swallowed, body tensing involuntarily.
“Relax,” he lowered himself down until his breath warmed your neck, pressing kisses against your throat. “Say it again.”
“Sanemi-”
Your voice pitched up at the end of his name as his finger plunged into you, velvet walls clenching at the intrusion. Sanemi swore under his breath, rolling his hips against the mattress in time with the slow thrusts of his finger inside of you, slowly pressing another in alongside it after a minute. Your whole body rippled and clenched, searching for more stimulation and touch, arms wrapping around Sanemi’s broad shoulders.
“More, please,” you whined into his hair.
“Already? You sure you’re ready?” Sanemi asked, lifting his head to look you in the eye.
You nodded, furrowing your brow and frowning. Sanemi tried to hide the smile tugging at the corner of his lips and cleared his throat to cover a laugh at your pout. His fingers withdrew from the warmth of your body, making you gasp. He readjusted, positioning himself at your entrance, and you could swear you saw his hands tremble from excitement.
“Fffffu-” Sanemi’s swear was cut off as you clenched around him.
As much as you tried to relax, the pressure between your legs made your body flex and tense. It wasn’t making Sanemi’s job any easier- although from the look on his face, you assumed it wasn’t exactly a bad thing.
“Shit, you’re so- fuck-”
The garbled praise stroked your ego. You wiggled your hips, feeling a bit of satisfaction when Sanemi grabbed them to keep you from moving, face turning pink as his mouth fell open.
“D-don’t do that. Give me a second.”
“Aww,” you crooned, teasing a bit. “Pussy too good?”
“Shut up,” he scowled (not a true scowl, you noted with delight) and pulled his hips back, snapping into you with a ferocity you didn’t expect. A gasp escaped your lips and your own cheeks pinked.
The pace was slow but steady; deep strokes dragging against your plush walls. Each time he plunged into you it felt like he pressed farther in, hitting deeper and deeper until you were sure he couldn’t get any more in your guts than he was, only to be proven wrong. You were breathless as each thrust forced the air from your lungs in a choked whimper, Sanemi’s hips bruising the back of your thighs with the amount of force he applied in retaliation for your teasing.
Your eyes threatened to roll back into your skull, mouth open in a silent cry, tits bouncing with each slap of skin.
“What’s the matter?” Sanemi taunted, throwing your words back into your face. “Dick too good?”
You whimpered a reply, digging your hands into the covers that had rucked up around your head from all the movement. The ridges of the ropy scars adorning his hips were quickly imprinting themselves into the skin of your backside from the harsh impact of each thrust. Sanemi’s pale skin had flushed across his chest and cheeks from the exertion, heat rolling off his figure in waves. A faint sheen of sweat covered both of your bodies, glittering in the low light of Sanemi’s bedside lamp as lewd sounds filled the air.
Your keens began to pitch upwards at the end as Sanemi adjusted the angle he fucked into you at, curling his body over yours and pressing his lips against your collarbone as you released the sheets to anchor your hands in his hair once again. Dark marks painted the column of your neck and along your decollete, purple and damp from Sanemi’s mouth. His hips stuttered against yours, movements starting to become frantic and erratic as your legs instinctively locked around his waist, drawing him closer. He snaked one hand down between the two of you, fumbling fingers flicking your clit with a marked lack of the earlier finesse he’d displayed.
You legs flexed, core winding tighter until a well-timed thrust had you spilling over the edge, his name tearing from your throat. The fluttering of your lush walls around him as you came was Sanemi’s undoing, his own orgasm ripping through him as he groaned your name in a hungry desperation, hips still rutting into you even as the bliss began to fade. It was as if he didn’t want it to end, pushing himself impossibly closer to you and locking his arms around your neck in an embrace as his body slowed to a standstill, half-crushing you under his weight.
“Stay for a bit?”
The faint request was mumbled breathlessly, almost inaudible. You cracked open your eyes, which had fluttered shut in ecstasy earlier. Sanemi was propped on his elbows, half-hovering over you. The tension rose again, something in his eyes melting your heart into a warm sludge that settled in your stomach.
The moment was shattered by a loud voice shouting just outside Sanemi’s door.
“You have five seconds to become decent before I come in!”
Shinobu’s voice wasn’t hard to recognize, and your face went white. Sanemi threw his shirt at you, grabbing his pants and shoving both feet in, comically wiggling them on. His shirt was just long enough to cover up the important parts on you, even if your nipples were a bit visible through the thin material. The door flung open (Shinobu had granted you an extra second, which you were thankful for) to reveal the dark-haired woman standing with one hand on her hip, the other holding the door wide. The rest of your friends were accumulated behind her, peering around and over her shoulders in varying degrees of shock and delight at your compromising position.
Sanemi glanced between your embarrassed face and the group of girls blocking his door. You could see him put two and two together in his head.
“Did you all have to tail me?” you covered your red face with your hands.
“I take it I have one of them to thank for that dare?” Sanemi’s resting bitch face was back in action as he left the bed, striding over to the group.
“You’re welcome,” Makio raised her bottle in a lazy salute.
“I’ll send you a thank-you card later,” Sanemi took control of the door back from Shinobu. “In the meantime; I’d appreciate it if you’d stop clogging up the hall.”
“I can’t believe she’d rather fuck you than Tengen,” Makio shook her head, pushing off the wall.
“Tengen?” Sanemi raised a brow.
“She chose to kill Tengen in Fuck, Marry, Kill,” Suma offered. “And to Fuck you.”
“Suma!” you groaned. “Can you all just leave?”
Sanemi leaned lazily against the door.
“So is that why you dared her to fuck me?”
There was a chorus of laughter, none louder than Makio’s. Sanemi raised his brows, watching the woman doubled over in laughter.
“We never dared her to sleep with you,” Makio finally straightened, wheezing. “Just to flash her tits.”
The door slammed in their faces, Sanemi’s back to you as he locked it. You swallowed, hands holding the hem of his shirt down over your thighs as you sat in his bed. Sanemi’s shoulders heaved as if he was taking deep breaths.
“You… didn’t get dared to fuck me?”
Sanemi spun on his heel, in front of you before you realized it. His lavender eyes locked with yours. It took a second for you to notice the cocky smile playing on his lips.
“No, but I wanted to, though,” you wet your lips, eyes roving over Sanemi’s face. “Does it matter?”
His lips pulled back to reveal a full smile, something you’d never seen before. His hands came up to either side of your face. When his face was a fraction away from yours, he paused, rubbing his thumb along your cheekbone.
“Hell-fucking-no,” he growled, surging forward to catch your mouth with his.
Outside the room and down the hall, the gaggle of girls waited at the elevator, voices not exactly quiet.
“Why did you make her flash Sanemi?” Mitsuri asked Makio. “You know he can be… rough around the edges. What if he’d… not been into it.”
Makio laughed.
“A little birdie told me Sanemi had a bit of a crush on a certain someone,” the blonde tossed her empty bottle into a trash receptacle. “And I had a perfect opportunity to play matchmaker. Why shouldn’t I?”

now I'm curious, as someone who has little to no opinion on the matter, what you consider your Beastlife Character's positive traits to be
OTHER BEASTS DO NOT PROCEED !!! CHARACTER METAGAME SPOILERS AHEAD !!! i will CURSE YOU with the DEVILS PLAGUE!!!
this website’s hate mail game is insane
I will answer this if i ever come up with something. I am literally looking up lists of positive traits on the internet. Tom said “unique” and like man i fucking???? guess???????
tbf breature’s self esteem is kind of in the negatives as of s4, so of course ooc im going to have a hard time pinpointing anything, as ooc perceptions do greatly influence a character’s perceptions of themselves.
There is, at the very least, a charisma. People will follow me around and hear me out to their own detriment. I often end up leading groups on accident, likely because I’m always going from one clear-cut goal to the next and other people will naturally want to tag along… I guess “driven” is a trait? I don’t think I’ve used this for one good thing so far though LMAO
tbh i think ME, irl bree, highly values a handful of traits and breature has sort of become an opponent of all of them.
i think, before the s3 alien conspiracy bullshit, there was a lot there. That was a well rounded individual. She had flaws but she wasn’t all flaws. But, at her lowest, she became the worst version of herself, and thennnn bc of the isolationist nature of the second season, almost all of her first impressions on other people happened when she was her worst version. So now it’s like she’s defined by this two dimensional parody. Everyone sees her as her worst version + she only knows how to interact with people as that worst version + most of her time alive in these games was as her worst version so she identifies with it = i am somewhat locked in to being horrible forevwr. despite being past what caused that spiral in the first place
like she has got to be one of the most hated ppl on beastlife I’ll be real LMAOOOOO in the two full seasons ive played ive been mourned Once. and it was by the guy i purposefully ruined the life of bc she has an unhealthy attachment towards me that i took advantage of at least three times. If that gives you any idea just how much I piss people off (and this is a server where most deaths are commemorated in one way or another, like it’s fairly culturally important)
sorry for the rant I’d say “i just love my fucking animal” but i really dont. bro is hated by her creator can you believe it… i do love doodling her badly in mspaint though ☝️
#asks#beastlife#This is rlly funny if a beast sent this ask in btw…. Here’s my answer! No you cant read it#but uh. hm. before the oku alien bullshit i was at the very least loving. So there’s that!

sylvain jose gautier for the ask game
oiuhgggghhhggggggggggg…
first impression: it is important to note that i literally got into 3h because i knew it as “that game with sylvain in it.” i didn’t even know what to expect from him other than that. so when dimitri introduces him as “a bit of a skirt chaser” or whatever i’m like lol ok?? what??
impression now: if anyone is interested… go through my sylvain tags to get a feel for this. i’ve been spiraling lately. suffice to say i am SO sick about him like more and more every day. christ alive talk about a guy with problems. the way he is so smart and so soft but he is absolutely determined not to let anyone know either of those things… noooo I’m actually just a wacky little guy don’t worry about me… i’m just the comic relief… doing fine… yeah i know i said “burn until we meet again” and “see you in hell i guess” but that’s just because I’m being soooooo funny and normal… i’ve also never cried in my life btw…
fav moment: there are so many blink and you miss it unhinged sylvain moments in this damn game. i’ve talked about it recently but the fact. that if he does badly on a lesson and you pick console instead of critique he gets really bitchy and pissed off. like jesus christ. sorry for trying to extend you some gentleness buddy will not make that mistake again.
also let’s take a moment to recognize the iconic “it killed my brother and now it’s mine.” certified sylvain moment
idea for a story: i have billions. i never stop emotionally tormenting this man. got a 20 years post cf angstfest about he and felix coming. beyond that i am obsessed with the prospect of a sylvain/mercedes/ingrid ot3 and someday i am going write a fic with them that isn’t just the extensive smut that currently exists in my google docs
fav relationship: i have got to go with ingrid. i do very much ship sylgrid romantically and they make me sooooooooo unwell but even if i didn’t their friendship is just so important to me in a way i really struggle to put words to. the way they understand each other perfectly but that makes it almost harder for them to get through to each other because of all the layers of bullshit they have built up around the true version of themselves that the other sees. they bump heads a lot but the way it’s so obvious that under whatever they might be clashing about and the baggage of their years of friendship there is this foundation of unconditional love that is not going anywhere no matter what oh god suddenly i cant see the screen and there’s something happening to my eyes oh god
a fun thing about sylvain is that i could write equally unhinged paragraphs about his relationships with mercedes and dorothea!! something about girls he would normally flirt with and their response is :) hey i see you btw! and sylvain is forced to crumble like a little baby. i cannot get enough of that shit. get seen idiot. i’ve also been known to enjoy some yurivain and dimivain and claudevain for not dissimilar reasons.
unpopular opinion: once again idk what is popular!! i feel like my shipping tastes with him are not the most popular but everyone is nice to me when i talk about them so. it’s all good
favorite headcanon: most bisexual man on the planet. i also love making him work service jobs lmao. he works at subway in my sylgrid fic but there are so many other things i want to subject him to. he should have to sing happy birthday to people at applebees. he should be a barista at a shitty coffee shop. mostly this is because it’s funny but i also think would be deeply in character for sylvain to plant himself somewhere far below his skill level and languish there as if there were nothing else he could do about it.
tysm for letting me go off about him… man. sylvain.
#ask#sylvainposting#i just cannot get enough of people breaking down his denfenses#and ingrid mercie and dorothea all do it spectacularly but in different ways#but I also meant what i said in my yuri ask about wanting him to walk sylvain on a leash#there are many ways of fixing a man#sylvain jose gautier

Find the Word
Oh look, it's another edition of my favorite tag game! I was tagged by @elizaellwrites to find worse, wander, mindlessly, join, and hysteria.
Tagging: @pertinax--loculos, @klywrites, @sunset-a-story, @catchingbigfish, @winterandwords, @ls-daydreams, @oh-sisyphus, @westcountrygothic.
Your words are: dream, break, poor, light, yearn(ing).
All snippets are from the previous version of Life in Black and White.
cw: "Hysterical" references/alludes to a domestic dispute and parental abandonment.
Note: "Join" is from one of my all-time favorite scenes. 🥰
Worse
Jeff finds me in the bathroom twenty minutes later. He knocks on the door. “Yo, I have to piss.”
“Go fuck yourself,” I say loudly, but immediately feel bad.
He’s not fazed. “Dude, I would, but I seriously doubt I’m that flexible.”
“There are God knows how many other bathrooms in this house.”
“It’s the crack of dawn and I’m lazy. Get the fuck out.”
His nonchalant humor does nothing but make me feel worse. “Sorry. My meds are doing shit all for me right now, for some fucking reason.”
“Dude, can I please piss? You can tell me your life story after.”
Wander
Too quickly, I arrive at my dad’s – not wanting to speak to anyone, I close the front door quietly behind me and wander into the kitchen, hoping to make a straight run for it all the way to my room. Unfortunately, my dad ends up being in the damn kitchen... and I apparently look exactly as I feel, if that’s possible, because before I’ve even figured out what to do with myself, he’s on my back, following me into the living room.
“How did it go?” the stupid man asks gravely.
“How do you think it went?” I reply tonelessly, not so much as turning back. I just keep walking toward my room, hoping he gets struck by a lightning bolt on the way.
He grabs my arm, trying to hold me back. “It’s bad, isn’t it?” he asks. “You can talk to me.”
Mindlessly
Daphne explained the logic to me once before Christmas - before Silverwood was even in the picture, and before I started to see Jeff’s merits for myself. “The way Jeff sees it, people shouldn’t be forced to do anything they don’t want to do,” she said. The tone she used when speaking of him made me so sick at the time. “He thinks people are afraid of being themselves and of being free because of laws, and regulations, and blah, blah… it makes him sick when people just mindlessly conform to rules.”
Join
Standing beside him, uncomfortably close, I held up the candle to the breakers on the far wall of the basement as he flipped them all sequentially, not bothering to check which ones were which.
Nothing happened.
He turned to me, then, in the orange light. Looked me right in the eyes. There was no way he didn’t see them this time. He said, “Well, that’s a bust. Must be the power lines.”
We went back upstairs, and I joined Daphne again at the bottom of the staircase. His hand brushed mine as he took his candle back and returned to the window seat, watching the storm as though it was of his own creation.
Hysteria (hysterical)
All of a sudden, silence. With bated breath I waited. I heard footsteps coming my way. I stood from my bed. The door opened and I heard my mother’s hysterical screams more clearly, rising up from downstairs. My dad walked in with two big brown suitcases and knelt down in front of me, grasping both my little arms.
I looked into his face and I saw the tears in his eyes, streaming down his cheeks... and he smelled funny. I couldn’t put my finger on it at the time, but now I know it was beer. Terrified, I asked him, “Dad, what’s going on?”

Nothing. Everything. I don’t know.
Darlin isn’t sure if they’re dating Huxley or just roommates with benefits and does the unthinkable...they go to David for advice.
Poor Davey.

Darlin&David. Darlin/Huxley.
Nothing. Everything. I don’t know.
“I need help,” Darlin blurted out, barely in the room.
David looked up, instantly forgetting the paperwork on his desk. He was first and foremost floored by that particular string of words coming from that mouth. Darlin never asked for help. If they were stuck in a beartrap they would sooner gnaw off a limb than ask for help. So, his second reaction was a mix of fury and a need to know who the hell had crossed them so badly that they would ask.
Darlin huffed when he didn’t say anything, obviously flustered and uncomfortable. With a growl they turned to leave.
“Sit,” David snapped. It sounded angry, but he was honestly horrified they’d think he’d ignored their request. They would go back on it just as quickly as they’d said it—he knew that.
Darlin hesitated and then finally sat down across from him at the desk.
David almost sighed in relief. “What do you need?”
Darlin whined and dropped their head on his desk.
David stared. If they weren’t possibly in danger, he would think this was hilarious—he would definitely enjoy Darlin being this whiney on most days. “What—”
“I’m dating this guy,” they said, voice echoing off the desk.
David frowned. “What did he do?”
Darlin groaned. “Nothing. Everything. I don’t know.”
David frowned harder. “What the fuck are you talking about? Did he hurt you?”
“What?” Darlin lifted their head, face pinched in confusion. “No. He’s…nice.”
David exhaled hard and sat back. “Jesus.” Thank god. Darlin had bullshit taste. They usually picked partners like they were looking to punish themselves for something. Fortunately, they never lasted long.
“Never mind,” Darlin said, already out of the chair and bolting for the door. They were out before he could realize how he’d handled this wrong. Fuck.
David got up and followed. He caught up before they left the building. They had started to open the door and he came up behind them, slamming it shut again and keeping his hand there against the door. Darlin sighed. Instead of turning to look at him though, they just thumped their forehead to the surface. “It was stupid. Please just let me go and forget I said anything.”
“No.”
Darlin turned around, leaning their back into the door and looking up at him. “What? Why not? You hate relationship conversations.”
David curled his lip. “No. I hate gossip. Is this gossip?”
“No,” they mumbled.
“Who are you dating?”
Darlin sighed. “Elemental guy. I ran into him at this hotdog place. We ended up talking. I thought it was friendly.”
“So, you don’t want to be dating him?”
“No, that’s not it. It started off as friends and he needed a place to stay so I rented him the room in my—”
“You’re living with him?” David tried to keep his voice even, but a little wave of panic was rising in his chest. Darlin never lived with any of the people they’d dated, as far as he was aware. They had always maintained a solid line between the assholes they dated and the places they felt safe. The idea of them having no easy escape from them…
“Yeah, that’s not really the problem.”
“What’s the problem?”
Darlin groaned. “It was friendly and then it was kind of flirty and then he’s inviting me to go to his games and hang out with his friends and I think we might be dating…”
“Why do you sound so confused?” It was pissing him off. He didn’t understand what the problem was.
“Because he’s so nice! He’s a good person. And I don’t… I don’t know what I’m doing. And he…” They blushed and looked at the floor.
What did he do? David wanted to demand but he knew it would come out in a growl and that wouldn’t be helpful. He waited, staring back at them and still holding the door shut so they had no hope of escape until they explained.
Darlin groaned. “He’s nice,” they said again. “I don’t know what to do with nice. I’ve never been with nice. I’m not even sure if we’re dating or if he’s just really really fucking friendly.”
David stared. “He’s nice?” he repeated.
Darlin glared and looked like they might try to bolt again.
“Are you… Have you two…” Fuck. FUCK! He did not want to have this conversation. But he couldn’t ignore their obvious distress. David growled but asked. “Have you two slept together?”
The length of the pause suggested the answer even before they squirmed, gaze going anywhere but directly at him. “I mean, yeah…but that doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t casual, you know?”
David tried very hard not to react or even think about that in any detail. So, they were sexually involved. Check. “And you can’t tell if you’re dating or just…friends with benefits?”
Darlin nodded slowly. “Yeah. Yeah, that’s the problem.”
He bit back all impulses to tell Darlin how dumb they were. They were being really vulnerable with him and he wasn’t going to mess that up. He also wasn’t going to screw up any opportunity to help them. “Is he sleeping with anyone else?”
Darlin thought about it and then shook their head. “I don’t think so.”
“Are you?”
“No.”
David thought about it for another few seconds and Darlin actually waited, patient now that they were hopeful he’d help. “Okay. We have a barbecue on Saturday. You’re going, right?”
Darlin looked dubious. “Yeah…”
“Bring him.”
“That’s a pack thing.”
David nodded. “Yeah. Bring him. Either he’s your friend and roommate, in which case we should meet him, or he’s your boyfriend and we should definitely meet him.”
Darlin’s face pinched. “I never bring anyone to those.”
David sighed. No, they hadn’t. In fact, Darlin had always been careful to keep their partners away from the pack. He didn’t miss why, either. Darlin wouldn’t have trusted any of those partners near pack. “Bring him. We’ll figure it out.” One way or the other. He would figure out what this problem really was and how to help Darlin. If doing that was putting the fear of the whole Shaw Pack into this asshole, then so be it.
“Fine,” Darlin sulked but agreed.
It was a lot faster than David had expected, but he certainly wasn’t going to argue with it.
Darlin sighed, dragging a hand through their hair and tugging nervously. “Can I go?” they griped.
David rolled his eyes and stepped back, letting them open the door and escape. He stood there for a while in their wake, going over the whole mess of a conversation and still not sure what the hell was going on. Were they really that unsure if they were dating the guy? It wasn’t like Darlin to care. It wasn’t like them to not just ask if they wanted to know something. Were they scared?
-
Darlin came home. When they opened the door, the smell of rosemary and onions reminded their stomach it was empty.
Music played somewhere inside the jungle of houseplants.
The apartment had slowly but surely become unrecognizable since Huxley moved into the guest room.
That was reason to think they weren’t really dating, right? They still had their own rooms. Couples didn’t usually keep their own rooms. But…they always slept together, it was just sometimes in his room and sometimes in theirs. And they seemed to move freely between both.
“Is that you, tough stuff?” he called from the kitchen.
Darlin shrugged out of their jacket and hung it up. “Yeah,” they called, hoping he couldn’t hear the way the nickname made their face feel warm. They stepped out of their boots and walked to the kitchen. He had textbooks and notebooks on one side of the dining table. He’d been worried about leaving his things out when he first moved in. He’d just needed a place to crash back then. But Darlin had assured him they didn’t care where he left his books, or his clothes, or his plants. And that was when the plants started arriving. Darlin always noticed a new one. Sometimes he rescued ones left to brown and die in windows on campus. A few Darlin had been sure were dead, but somehow he brought them back.
They came around the corner into the mouth of the kitchen. He was a big man and now the little kitchen looked tiny. He’d showered recently, his hair still wet, and he hadn’t bothered to put on a shirt. His joggers hung on his hips and Darlin had to make a decision to look away—to turn to the fridge to get something to drink. He was taking something out of the oven and it smelled amazing.
He did that sometimes—made food. And he always shared. In fact, he made food for both of them. He’d even figured out what Darlin liked and didn’t like, which was wild since Darlin barely cared enough to figure that out.
Darlin couldn’t make food. The best they could do was order in, which they did to try to feed him in return because that was what people did, right?
“Everything okay?” he asked, worry in his voice.
Darlin blinked, realizing they were frowning in thought. “Oh. Yeah. Just tired.”
Huxley nodded, shaking off an oven mitt. He’d made a quiche. He’d made it before and Darlin loved that fucking quiche. He put it on the counter and grabbed something from the refrigerator, uncapping the bottle of water and holding it out to them. “Here. If you want to shower before we eat you totally can.”
Darlin took the water, grateful when he came closer to deliver it and stayed in their personal space. He casually fingered the hair out of their face like he was getting a look at them. Darlin could never quite meet his gaze when he was looking at them like that—like he was really seeing them, caring to catalogue and check for any signs of something amiss. “Thanks,” Darlin whispered before downing some water, pretending to themself that that was what they were thanking him for.
“Anytime, dude. Hey, after we eat, do you want to crawl into bed early? We can put on a movie or something and just chill?”
Anyone else and Darlin would assume that was a weird sort of pick-up line. They had, in fact, assumed that the first time he said something like that. They’d been dead tired that time and figured he wanted sex anyway. They’d been less than happy about it but gone along with it anyway. At least he’d sort of asked. None of their previous partners would have. But when they’d finally crawled into bed that night, Darlin had reached for him—ready to get it over with so they really could sleep. Huxley had caught their wrist and gently pulled their hand away from him. He’d moved them until he was spooning them, his body flush to theirs but no arousal pressing against them. He’d kissed their temple and asked if they wanted him to sleep in the other room, like he really would and he wouldn’t even be mad about it. Darlin hadn’t been too tired then to really be surprised, just shaking their head and grateful to be held.
Huxley never tried to take anything from them. He was just there with them. They had great sex but they even had a great time when there was no sex involved. It was all very confusing. “Yeah, that sounds good,” Darlin admitted. “Really good, thanks.”
Huxley smiled.
Darlin leaned into him, kissing him, savoring the way his arm curled around their back and gently tugged them up against his body. They stayed close even when the kiss broke, just hanging on to each other. “So…” Darlin forced themselves to say something. If they didn’t, they might not at all. “There’s this barbecue thing I have to go to on Saturday. Do you want to come with?”
He squeezed them a little tighter and they were so close that they could hear his heart beat faster.
“You don’t have to. It was just an idea and you probably have stuff to do.” They let go of him, ready to step back and retreat to the bathroom to shower, but Huxley kept hold of their hips, not quite letting them go. And he looked… happy. He looked really happy.
“What? No. I’d love to go. Is it a work thing or…?”
“It’s a pack thing.” They hated the heat that rose up their neck to their cheeks.
Huxley obviously tried to temper his grin but it seemed impossible. “Cool. Should we bring anything?”
Darlin blinked. It had never even occurred to them to ask. They usually just showed up late, ate whatever food David put in their hands, stayed until it was dark, and then went home. Did people bring things? There was always a table of food. “I…don’t think so?”
Huxley laughed. “That sounds a lot like a question, dude…”
Darlin rolled their eyes dramatically and pushed out of his hold, walking toward the hall. “I’ll ask, okay?” They stopped at the mouth of the hall and looked back at him. He was still smiling, standing there in his sweats and nothing else. He’d already showered but… They bit their lip, not quiet looking at him and not quite smirking when they asked, “Wanna join me?”
Huxley bit his lip, smile changing but never vanishing. “Absolutely,” he closed the distance between them, practically chasing Darlin down the hall and into the bathroom.

Have I told you I hate weak y/n’s that get pushed around by fangirls? No? Well, I hate them 😊
Let’s have Oikawa, Atsumu, Akaashi, Semi, and Terushima react to their normally calm gf, beat the dog shit out of a fangirl that tried to intimidate her for dating said men above. Reader just has a soft smile before cocking her fist back and boxing her shit before holding up the fangirl and looking to the rest like “You wanna end up like her? No? Then know your place~ ☺️”. Then she faces her bf with a sweet smile and says something affectionate like “I brought you lunch, dear. I made it just how you like it 😄” before kissing his cheek like she didn’t go Muhammad Ali on a bitch
<3
Oikawa Tooru<3
Oikawa’s had more than a few less than pleasant experiences with women
Considering he’s always been surrounded by them, from his sister's friends in middle school and being swarmed by them in High school and college- having women around him was nothing new
And for the most part, they were all pleasant
Giving him little gifts and food- that he always gave to you- and just telling him how much they loved watching him play
All things he can deal with before talking to his favorite girl, you
Though, there have been instances of some bold woman who just never get the hint
Whether it be drunkenness or some weird dream of having Oikawa to herself or just blatant disregard of his relationship
And right now just happens to be one of those times- but now you got a firsthand view of the madness.
Whoever this was clearly didn't understand relationships or personal space for that matter
She had a hand on his chest and was just blubbering about how she would be the best wife for him and would make life so much easier- much more than you do for him- and that was just what you saw from the ten seconds you were in earshot
He would normally laugh it offend continue seeking out autographs but he seemed to be locked in an iron maiden
“I promise! Forget about your girlfriend, she’s useless anyways!” and finally a perfect chance to make yourself known
“Tooru, I have your lun-” you attempted to grab him away, him shooting a pleading look to save him before your wrist was snatched from his arm and tugged away and shoved to the side then pushing your body away from the two
“Back off bitch!”
Now, you were normally a pretty calm person, you knew how to deal with the women and you have been for years.
But you stand by the fact that it was never ok to put your hands on someone- no matter the situation.
But at that moment, you could care less about your silly reparations and breathing methods, that lady put a hand on you and pushed you
You could hear Tooru telling her to keep her hands off you but you just looked around and made sure that everyone saw what had happened, you don't need to be arrested anytime soon
Grabber her arm you detached her from your boyfriends and in the next second your fist was connecting with her face, watching her wither on the floor you turn to your boyfriend who’s now coming towards you
“As I was saying, I have your lunch.”
Atsumu Miya<3
Another guy who’s constantly surrounded by women
Although he is far less appreciative and nice to them, and he makes it a point to be abundantly clear that you are the only woman he will spend the rest of his life with
Something that wasn't too popular with a few specific fans
Every blue moon someone will find his phone number and blow it up with loving messages or try and get his address
The worst it’s been was someone finding his apartment number and thankfully being too far away to come by themselves but they did send some inappropriate images to his PO box and that led him to create an even thinker line between fans and himself
Thankful, the whole of them understood and respected his boundaries
Buuuuut there are always people who go the extra step
Like whoever this is crowding your boyfriend after a win against the Alders with a giant poster of him and a …. Thong
If you were the slightest more stoic you would have held in the laugh that started it all but it seems crazy is crazy no matter how you provoke them
That lady heard you laugh and the flood gates opened, in a split second her hand was on your cheek then she was on the floor holding what you could hope was a broken jaw
You didn't even realize you punched her until a shooting pain went up your wrist
Though before you had a chance to return to your lovely boyfriend, who was standing in the same spot shell shocked (and slightly turned on) hand grabbed your ankle the flung you to the ground
It was, for lack of a better term, a catfight
She was hitting you and you were hitting her and she was screaming random shit about how awful you were to her precious Atsumu- seriously this lady was insane
Nevertheless, security arrived, and let’s just say that you were in much better condition than she was, who knew you could fight so well?
Though you weren't allowed to come to the next game and had to apologize to the heads of the Volleyball association, Tsumu was proud of you and the internet was on your side- so it was kind of a win-win
Akaashi Keiji<3
He surprisingly doesn't have a swarm of fangirls around him
But it’s much much worse, you’d rather have a mob of girls around him than the four specific psychos that never leave the poor guy alone
Everywhere in school at least one of them is watching the two of you, in class, at lunch- no matter where you try and eat- you swear you even saw one at the boba show you pass on your walk home with him
The worst part?
He thinks it’s funny.
It is hilarious to him that you try so hard to keep them away full knowing he would never leave you for the likes of them. It’s just too cute how you puff up your cheeks and huff about them and honestly, it's a breath of fresh air considering how much everyone kisses up to him
Well- he likes it when they are at a distance
On the off chance they get close to him, it's a different story. They truly are intolerable, and they away try bad-mouthing you to him like it was supposed to mean something that they don't like you
And they only ever do it when you’re away- cowards they truly are. And since they’re always watching, as soon as you left to buy the two of you lunch, one of them was on him in an instant
She was annoying and all she could say was ho you were a ‘poison’ in his life and he had to leave you as soon as possible
He didn't even realize you were there until a hand grabbed the back of her uniform and flung her off him. And from the looks of it, falling on the ground really hurt
“I’m a poison? That’s all you could come up with?”
You didn't even have to say another word, she was already out of sight
Not missing a beat, you handed him his lunch and started talking about the latest episode of the volleyball anime you loved.
Semi Eita<3
First off- a total power couple
Not only are you willing to beat a bitch, but he’s also ready to hype you up while you do it
It’s not confirmed you have, but there are rumors that you fought more than a few girls who were less than pleasant. And it’s not like you do anything for rumor control, you just laugh and turn the other way
Still, even with the rumor mill running rampant, some girls still try and shoot their shot
But this girl has to be the boldest woman on planet earth
Not only was she flirting with an openly taken man, but she was flirting with him as he held his arm around your waist. She even looked at you as she spoke to him, the audacity of people these days
“You like music? That’s crazy, I do too!” you wanted her to shut the fuck up as soon as possible.
What pissed you off more was that he knew exactly what he was doing, and he was letting it happen to spite you.
What happened after this you blame solely on the alcohol the party was providing and not on the fact you wanted to clock this girl the moment you saw her
It was just that suddenly your drink was in her face
Then her drink was in her face, and she was running to the bathroom, maybe she should listen to rumors more often because you don't think strawberry daiquiri will come out of a white crop too so easily
Terushima Yuji<3
He’s an ass
But he’s your ass, somehow
He’s a manwhore and an attention-whore, mix that should have been shot before it could grow into something more
By now you're used to the girls slipping him their numbers and hitting him up on every social media site possible and you remain happy to say he doesn't respond- probably too busy dicking you down to care about any of them
Plus, less than 1% of them actually approach them in public, and they just happen to be the most insufferable people on the planet.
Desperation doesn't even describe it
Of that 1%, at least half of them try to touch him, running a hand on his arm, tugging at his clothes, maybe even a strand of his hair, all you can deal with because he knows what’ll happen if he even entertains their advances
But for some reason, the only thing that sets you off is when they mention the tongue piercing.
It invokes a rage unknown within you, the second the metal ball’s mentioned you see red. And he fucking loves it, you could be three prefectures over and the second the girl mentions it, you magically appear at his side like you’d been there the whole time
All of a sudden you’re all over him, disregarding this girls words as she tries to bring the conversation back to her, going as far as grabbing your shoulder, and since she touched you first- you had the green light
Your arm pulled back and your fist connected to her cheek
And like nothing ever happened you turned back to the blond

A Triwizard Baby Part 1 - F.W
Masterlist, Requesting Rules, Writing Prompt Masterlist,Taglist
Part 1 Fred Weasley x Fem Reader mini series
Requested/About: Best friends, Y/N and Fred Weasley share a night of passion together during the Triwizard Tournament, after that, everything changes and Fred can’t figure out why until the night of the final task. Y/N has the world on her shoulders, and Fred slowly finds himself losing everyone around him.
Want to be tagged? Let me know!
A/N: the ages/school year has been adjusted so everything is legal.
Warnings: Swearing, alcohol, intoxication, drunk and unprotected sex, losing virginity.
It all started when the more outspoken, confident twin crashed into you on the Hogwarts Express in your first year at Hogwarts. Sure, you were upset, embarrassed, and annoyed, but when you looked up and realised who had swept you off your feet, you knew it wasn’t your brain messing with you - from that moment you had fallen for him; Fred Weasley.
After your first train ride, classes, and many more along the way, over the years, you and Fred became best friends, going through thick and thin together, sharing the worlds loudest laughs, best pranks, and even the biggest tears. Your tiny crush on him blossomed into something much more, a love that couldn’t stop growing and spread out of control, but you were sure that Fred didn’t feel the same, and as you became older, reaching the end of your years in the education system, Fred discovered other girls and sex, whilst you drowned yourself in the life of parties and bottles of fire whiskey.
Fred loves the parties, he loves fire whiskey too, but he loves the other girls and the sex in a different way because they feed his ego, and it helped take his mind off you and the fact he didn’t have the guts to pursue you.
You were labelled as the party-girl which every girl wanted to be and wouldn’t challenge to a drinking game if their gold was on the table, and Fred gained the title as the play-boy, who made every lad jealous and watch in envy as he never got rejected and could flirt with any girl he wanted.
You had to hear the stories of your best friend fucking your classmates, and how much they loved it, praising him and gossiping about how skilled he was with his fingers, tongue, and cock. You were jealous, and you didn’t want to admit it, but you couldn't invent your sex life to reach Fred’s rank - you had never had sex - you were a virgin through and through.
Sitting next to Fred on the edge of his bed in the hospital wing you shook your head, laughing at the state of him and his twin, George.
“I’ve got to say, you’ve got a magnificent beard.” You laughed, the sight of George being an old man funnier than you expected.
Fred smirked despite still being pissed off with George “I never knew you were into older men” he winked.
“Well, you never asked.”
George groaned out “get a bloody room, the pair of you!”
You rolled your eyes at him and pulled Fred’s pillow from under his head, causing him to slump down, you bashed George with his pillow, sticking your tongue out at him and pulling a face.
“Y/N, don’t encourage them!” Madame Pomfrey hurried over, retrieving Fred’s pillow “Out! Out!” she shooed you.
Standing up and put your hands up in defence “Alright! I’m going!”
Fred’s smirk turned into a grin, “Watch the first task with us?” he asked.
You nodded “with pleasure, I heard Bill is going to be there.”
And you weren’t wrong, the first task came within the blink of an eye, you were honoured to meet Bill in passing - more like a “Hello!” with an awkward wave, followed by “Goodbye!” and another awkward wave, but the dragons fascinated you, and Fred spent the majority of the task watching you instead of the Hungarian Horntail, Swedish Short-Snout, Chinese Fireball, and the Common Welsh Green. George had to keep reminding Fred that their money and future business was on the line.
During the celebration party as it got later in the evening, you and everyone else surrounded Harry, clapping and cheering as he lifted the golden egg infant of him, parading it around, all of you watching and waiting eagerly, encouraging him to open it in hopes that it could liven up the party - giving everyone an excuse to stay up late and continue drinking.
Fred and George lifted Harry up, propping his legs on either of their shoulders, their arms strapping him in so he was above the large and busy crowd.
“Knew you wouldn’t die, Harry.”
“Lose a leg.”
“Or an arm.”
“Pack it in altogether.”
“Never!”
Fred and George stopped heaving Harry into the air, Seamus begging for a clue, you stared at Fred, your eyes getting lost in the strands of his long golden hair, but you weren’t the only one - the girls behind you were fixating on him, whispering about his good looks and height.
You zoned out completely, the same jealousy and bitterness spreading through your veins, you had to talk to him, tell him you loved him, but how?
Harry opened the egg, bright light of gold broke out followed by loud screeching, breaking you out of your toxic train of thoughts, Fred and George dropping Harry and flinching like you and everyone else, covering your ears and begging Harry to shut it up.
“What the bloody hell was that?” Ron interrupted.
Fred huffed and shook his head “As if this party couldn’t get any worse.” he turned around and tried to flee to his dorm room, calling it a night and encouraging everyone to get to bed.
The two girls behind you who were salivating over Fred pushed past you and called him over, blushing and batting their eyelashes at him.
“We’re throwing a party of our own” she eyed him up as if he was something to eat “tonight doesn’t have to end on a downer.”
Her plan worked, instantly gaining Fred’s attention, he grinned and nodded “Wicked, can I bring someone along?”
“George is already invited” her friend replied, smirking at George.
“Can I bring someone else too, though?” Fred asked.
The girls exchanged looks with one another cautiously, but they didn’t want to let him down or uninterested him, “Of course! Who?”
Probably his friend Lee or some girl he’s fucking.
“Y/N!” Fred called out, smiling at you “You want to join this party with me?”
The girls glared at one another, muttering and swearing under their breaths to one another.
This is your moment, Y/N, don’t mess this up, shoot your shot.
“Yeah!” You smiled back, feeling honoured and slightly shocked “Yeah, sure!”
Once everyone had cleared off, you and your new group sneaked out of the common room and into Moaning Myrtle's territory, all the professors were either partying or fast asleep, even Mr Filch and Mrs Norris grudgingly had the night off.
The dark and grubby bathroom spun around whilst you got onto your knees, the cold tile floor making you shudder when coming into contact with your warm legs. The two girls smirked and sat down too, the shorter one pulling Fred to sit down next to her, her hand continuously placing itself on his knee, ticking you off.
“Well, since Y/N decided to drink her feelings, we’ve got an empty bottle and we could do with a game to lighten up the mood.” The shorter girl spoke out, causing Fred to give her a dirty look for calling you out.
“What is it then?” George asked “Pretty shit place for a party.”
“Careful” you hiccoughed “Don’t want to make Mrytle cry.”
“We’ve decided truth or dare, but with spinning the bottle. Whoever it lands on has to answer a truth, or accept a dare from the spinner.”
You rolled your eyes “Seems very... tween like of you.”
Fred laughed.
“You weren’t invited, so feel free to leave if this party isn’t good enough for you.”
You ignored her and played along anyway.
“George” she squealed “Truth or dare?”
George hesitated for a moment “Truth”
“Does Fred keep you up at night with all the girls he brings back?”
After what felt like an eternity, the bottle finally landed back and George, and he spun the bottle, causing it to land on you.
“Y/N, truth or dare?”
I swear if you ask me anything stupid -
“D-dare.” you hiccoughed again, trying to act bigger than your boots.
George stared at the two desperate girls and looked back at you “I dare you to snog my brother.”
Okay, I really wish I went for truth, what was I thinking? Bloody hell!
“Okay then” you replied nervously, crawling in the middle of the circle, Fred crawling over to you, a glint of mischief in his eyes.
Fred’s warm, large, gentle hands cupped your face, leaning in, his lips pressed against yours shocking both of you as if a spark had ignited, whilst you kissed back, your hands tangled in his long golden hair and the two of you were suddenly hit with the realisation of how in love with one another you actually were.
More students had caught wind of the lame party and livened it up, playing music and brightening the bathroom up with colourful moving lights, bringing more fire whiskey and encouraging everyone to dance.
Everyone around you watched as you and Fred continued to snog, his tongue dancing with yours, his cock starting to support a semi, everyone cheered aside from the two girls who felt as if they had shot themselves in the foot.
“Okay!” the girl called out again, trying to pull Fred away “Times up!”
but he didn’t want to stop, and neither did you, the memories you shared playing out in front of you.
“I’m sorry for crashing into you” he frowned, sitting next to you on the train “is your head alright? I can try and make the bruising go away.”
You couldn’t stay mad at him, you chuckled and shook your head “It’s okay but thank you for offering” you smiled.
His twin brother entered the carriage, “Fred-” he stared at you “what’s happened to you?”
“I wish you were coming with us” Fred sighed, grumbling to himself.
“Oh don’t be silly, you’re going on holiday!” you beamed “just make sure you take plenty of pictures, I’ve heard Egypt is lovely!”
“I’ll write to you and I’ll send the photos through the owl post if I’ve got enough time.”
“We’re supposed to be studying for our O.W.Ls!” you hissed at Fred, hiding your answers from him as he continued to make your stationary levitate and drop onto your head.
“Please take part in this prank, Y/N” he begged “I promise I won’t ask for anything ever again.”
“But you always do, Freddie!”
He stared at you, pouting and making puppy eyes.
“Fine” you sighed, giving in “Let’s go and do it then.”
Fred punched the air and grabbed you by the hand, pulling you away from your desk, the two of you smirking and giggling with excitement.
“I didn’t realise it would be this cold” you shivered, standing outside of Honey Dukes, snow falling from the sky and sticking to the pavement.
Fred pulled off his knitted jumper “Put this on love, don’t want you freezing now do we?”
The memories snapped away as Fred fell back, his arm in the girl's hand, you were desperate for more and opened your eyes, frowning that he had been dragged away for a dance with her, you watched as she wrapped her arms around his neck and his hands rested on her waist.
Getting off your now red cold knees and standing up, you downed some more fire whiskey from the first bottle you laid eyes on and decided to copy Fred - dancing with anyone who wanted you - grinding against them, having them hold you close and breathing down your neck, you had to admit, for someone who had never done this before, you were doing a pretty good job, almost as if you had done it before.
Fred couldn’t get you, the kiss, the feeling of your lips, tongue, and the replay of memories out of his head. Breaking away from the girl, he approached you as you pulled away from the tall Hufflepuff lad, finally reuniting with the love of your life. Almost instantly, Fred’s lips collided with yours, your hands back to being tangled in his hair and his hand squeezing your behind teasingly, alcohol on your breath and his.
“I want you.” you breathed, pulling away from the kiss “I want you to fuck me like you do everyone else.”
“I want you too” Fred replied, taking your hand and fleeing from the party.
After what seemed like a marathon, you finally burst into Fred’s empty dorm room, he shut the door behind him and locked it before kissing you passionately, lowering you onto the bed and taking your clothes off.
This was it, the moment you were craving for years on end, this was it, this was how you would be losing your virginity, this would be giving yourself to your best friend entirely.
But Fred had no idea that it was your first time, in his head, you were having just as much sex as him.
Fred couldn’t get over the sight of your naked body, your breasts, your tummy, your bum, your inner thighs, your exquisite crotch - you were the definition of perfect, he had forgotten about every girl he had ever seen naked at the sight of you, you were making him feel as if this was his first time all over again.
Fred sucked on your nipples whilst he stimulated your clit with his fingers, warming you up, the sensation of his warm tongue and mouth sent shivers of pleasure down your spine, and as nervous as you were, you couldn’t stop yourself from moaning as he played with your touch starved clit.
“Are you ready, Y/N?” Fred asked, pulling away from your breasts.
“Yes,” you breathed out, slurring slightly “I’m ready Freddie.”
Fred’s head, like yours, was also spinning. He stumbled and reached for the lube, applying it onto his length and then across your tight hole. Fred felt as if he had forgotten something, but the more he wracked his own brain, the more he couldn’t remember what he needed. He laid you on your back and climbed on top, lining himself against your entrance.
Looking at you one last time to make sure, you nodded, and he slowly pushed himself inside of you, stretching you out as your walls tightened around you. You winced as you experienced an entirely new feeling, Fred slowed down and stayed still inside of you so you could adjust to his size when you were ready to continue, Fred started to trust himself inside and out of you gently, holding your hand and kissing your head as you started to feel incredible pleasure, your soft moans spilling from your lips.
Fred couldn’t believe he had gotten so lucky, he was fucking - no - he wasn’t - he was making love to the most perfect girl in the world, someone he actually cared deeply for and had feelings for, you weren't a stranger, you were special, you weren’t temporary, you were soothing his aching heart - your absence was the cause, and your love - the medicine.
You watched as Fred’s hard cock slid inside and out of you, you admired his perfect body, the way he moaned and expressed the pleasure he was feeling through his facial expressions, you gripped onto his hand tighter as he picked up his speed and throbbed inside of you, you didn’t want this to end, you wanted to live inside this moment forever.
“My- My tummy feels tight” you panted, not knowing what was happening.
“Cum for me, Y/N.” Fred panted too “Don’t hold back.”
Oh, so that’s what that feeling means?
The pressure built up until it burst, you felt yourself explode as the pleasure became more intense, you relaxed and released, creaming down Fred’s length, your walls strangling him.
“Fuck!” Fred panted, the beads of sweat spreading across his forehead and back “I’m cumming baby!”
Baby.
“Y/N!”
Fred released his sperm deep inside of you without realising he didn’t have a condom on, you didn’t know whether he had put one on or not either, you didn’t know to ask or mention it, you were on birth control up until last week, you had to come off it due to the side effects and stress you under as your N.E.W.Ts approached.
Fred slowly pulled out and collapsed in your arms, the two of you holding one another, your eyes too heavy to stay open.
As you drifted off to sleep, your life was about to change forever.

Title: Tied: The Huntress and The Original part two
Pairing: Elijah Mikaelson x Winchester!Reader
Warnings: Y/N stabbing more things, Fluff, makeout
Summary: Y/N is trapped with the father of her future child as at first Y/N didn't want to give in to Elijah but the vampire is becoming more and more harder to resist. Elijah already adores Y/N and protective of her as he finds it hard to not be close to her.

Part one - part three
Y/N was more and more surprised with just how much the demons planned everything as she explored the catacombs with Elijah who stayed close to her. They found a bedroom, it was every nice as it had a large bed with a bath attached.
Y/N dug through the dresser seeing it was was full of clothes and lingerie that would fit her as Elijah found they had gotten him suits which he was happy to be out of bloody clothes.
"It seems they planned to keep us here until I had the baby." Y/N said turning swallowing seeing Elijah stepping out of the bathroom rolling up his sleeves happy to be out of his bloody clothes. Y/N couldn't help but stare at his arms then hands catching the vampire's attention. Smirking Elijah reached for her but Y/N ducked out of his arms.
"We should relax as I'm sure the magic keeping us here should be gone by morning. Then we can figure it out in the morning." Elijah says looking up from the bed to see Y/N in a short nightie that only stopped mid thigh. Y/N felt her cheeks heat up seeing Elijah licking his bottom lip.
"Night big guy." Y/N said climbing into the bed and Elijah followed behind her. Elijah traced her curves listening to the huntress trying to sleep when she huffed rolling over and kissing the vampire who responded right away. Elijah rolled them over hiking her legs over his hips growling when she nipped at his bottom lip as the kiss got more hungry. Y/N moaned opening Elijah's shirt as he attacked her neck with bites and nips.
"You're just divine, my dear." Elijah said against her neck making her choke on a moan when he grinded his hips just right against hers. Y/N pulled Elijah into another heated kiss when Elijah stopped hushing her gently. Y/N blinked when Elijah got off of her listening for something and her hunter instincts kicked in.
Y/N dressed quickly grabbing her blade twirling it as she followed Elijah out seeing it was demons with a black woman. It happen quickly the demons attacked her as Elijah grabbed the woman by the thoat.
"Celeste, I am surprised to see you here." Elijah growled as the witch smirked as her eyes flickered over to Y/N who stood there panting. Y/N was ready for anything as she watched the witch.
"Came to see your future dead lover." Celeste said snapping her fingers and vampires came in attacking Y/N and she was quick to fight back as Elijah growled squeezed Celeste's thoat.
"What is your game Celeste?"
"The barrier is down....who would you choose? You beloved huntress .....or your family?" Celeste questioned when Elijah growled deeply squeezing her neck harder as panic came across Celeste's face when Elijah leaned close to her ear.
"Better hope my siblings will not find you as I am not the only one who would bring your end." Elijah said lowly as Celeste moved her hand making him let her go as he held his head while Celeste moved away. She watched Elijah fall to his knees making her smirk.
"She'll die by your hand Elijah or your family will." Celeste said leaving as Elijah panted growling tearing though a vampire that bit Y/N. She squeaked when Elijah pulled her close licking her blood from the bite then healed her.
"I'm okay Elijah." Y/N whispered feeling him buried his face in her neck as both of was already strongly bonded. The sound of fluttering wings reached their ears and Elijah pushed her behind him.
"Sugarplum! You're okay!"
"Gabriel?!" Y/N said moving around Elijah running hugging the Archangel who grinned hugging her tightly. While a flare of jealousy ran through Elijah as he watched Y/N with the angel.
"You okay?"
"Yeah found future baby daddy." Y/N said as Gabriel laughed looking at Elijah aware of what he was.
"Gabe where are we?"
"About a three day drive away from New Orleans." Gabriel answered Y/N making the woman frown cursing in Enochian walking out of the tomb. Elijah followed after his pissed off huntress seeing that they were in an century old cemetery. Y/N huffed annoyed leaning back against Elijah when she felt him behind her.
"Looks like we are going to be stuck in a car for while." Y/N said looking up at Elijah as he smiled leaning down kissing her forehead.
"I don't mind, beautiful." Elijah tells her watching her flushed brightly as he reached for her hand. Gabriel had gotten Y/N's truck and as she rolled her eyes seeing Gabriel pout when Elijah claimed the passenger seat.
"Where is Sam and Dean?" Y/N asked driving letting Elijah place his hand on her leg while Gabriel layed in her back seat.
"In Mystic Falls where you last hunt was now headed for New Orleans as the Mikaelsons are waging war looking for Elijah."
"Nice to know."
"Y/N, you're alive." Y/N heard Castiel say popping up in the back seat of her truck making her scream nearly driving off the the road as Elijah gripped the wheel. The truck came to a screeching halt as Y/N panted hand over her chest closing her eyes as Elijah gently took her hand rubbing it.
"Cas! We talked about this!"
"I apologize Y/N. But I heard you so I came as soon as I could." Castiel says as Y/N sighed starting to drive again. An hour into driving Y/N looked into the rear view mirror noticing a car following them.
"Cas? Does the Men of Letters know about the baby thing?" You asked keeping an eye on the car as Elijah raised an eyebrow as Gabriel sat up looking out the back window.
"They do. They had told Sam and Dean about the prophecy which is why they are looking for you."
"Darling?"
"The car following us happens to be my annoying ex, Arthur Ketch." Y/N said picking up speed as Gabriel smirked.
"If I didn't know any better, Suga you have a type."
"Now isn't the time Gabriel." Y/N growled out driving faster as her phone rang which she answered it putting it on speaker.
"Darling, pull over."
"No, go fuck yourself Ketch." Y/N said turning quickly down a back road as Ketch stopped on the road. Elijah felt many feelings fill him while he knew Y/N would have past lovers but the idea one of them was still around her made him feel possessive.
"Do you think I'll follow you down some back road? Let alone have you bare another man's child?"
"First off fuck you again and second yes because you would never allow dirt to touch that dumb car of yours. And thirdly Elijah is a real gentlemen unlike you a lying, backstabbing asshole who leaves his ex-girlfriend's baby brothers to almost be killed by some KFC looking asshole."
Gabriel snorted a laugh as Elijah was confused but felt his heart flutter when she said his name. Castiel kept watch seeing no one following them as Y/N drove.
"To be fair love, they said they could handle it."
"Sam and Dean....mostly Dean are morons never let them take care of a big bag by themselves. Also if you are getting on this macho man kick about this baby thing I am every sure you ain't it."
"You never know my beloved. An Original as dangerous as Elijah Mikaelson, no go....." Y/N cut Ketch off by hanging up then threw the phone out of the truck glaring. Elijah placed his hand on her thigh when both Angels left leaving Y/N and Elijah alone.
"I take it you and this Ketch fellow didn't end well?"
"No. It didn't." Y/N said noticing how dark it was then pulled off the road. Elijah raised an eyebrow as Y/N made sure the truck was hidden then got out.
"Lucky for you. The truck bed is close in."
"Camping are we?" Elijah teased helping her pull out pillows and blankets. Y/N open the back and flopped down on the mat and pillows as Elijah followed after her. Y/N closed the tailgate kicking off her shoes with Elijah also getting comfortable.
"We should get you back to New Orleans fr...." Y/N was cut off by Elijah kissing her and pulling her into his lap as the kiss got more hungry. Y/N pulled away taking her shirt off and Elijah attacked her neck with bites.
"Elijah.....we...shou....." Y/N stopped thinking as her mind turned to mush when Elijah pulled her closer by her hips grinding against her while he moved his mouth long her pulse point smirking.
"I think we can love. It is just the two of us no one around for miles." Elijah said smooth tempting Y/N to give into him. Elijah groaned when she kissed him roughly as she gave in to the vampire for the night.

BABYSITTING WITH HIM
characters ♡ oikawa, tendou & sakusa
tw ♡ children, cursing & mentions of arson
TŌRU OIKAWA
♡ he is pretty much a professional babysitter, or so he thought
♡ which is why he accepted when you asked if he could help you take care of your nieces/nephews for the weekend
♡ i mean, he takes care of his nephew all the time so how hard could babysitting possibly be? it was basically a free pass to spend the day with you
♡ however, he began to regret his decision as he sat on your couch and realised that he wouldn’t be able to get even somewhat intimate with you when there was constantly an annoying little boy clinging to his arm, asking him if he had any games on his phone
♡ “sorry, kid.” oikawa smiled, clenching his jaw to hide the rage but it wasn’t very effective, “i’ve not got any games. maybe you could go play with your toys or something.”
♡ he let out a sigh, making the mistake of thinking that would be the end of their interaction
♡ “can’t you just download some?” the boy retaliated
♡ you snickered, watching as the energy visibly drained from oikawa, yet he still wore his frighteningly bright grin
♡ “i’ve not got any storage.”
♡ “then delete some of your apps or photos.” the boy said with a shrug, then proceeded to point at oikawa’s home screen, which happened to be a picture of him and you in front of an ethereal sunset, “start with that one. you both look like dorks.”
♡ you and oikawa’s unified gasps of offence were enough to show the boy that he was able to do exactly what he intended; piss y’all off
♡ hence, with a final mischievous snicker, he dashed off
♡ “i hate kids.” oikawa muttered, inspecting his homescreen to see if he really did look like a ‘dork’, “what is his problem?”
♡ “what if our kids turn out like that?” you joked
♡ his eyes widened momentarily, turning to look at you with an uncharacteristically sheepish expression, “our w--”
♡ “mr kawa!” a cry could be heard from the kitchen so without hesitation, you both hopped to your feet and rushed over there as quick as you could
♡ once you both reached the area the yell came from, you were fortunately not greeted by anything gruesome
♡ instead, you both got to behold two children trying to reach the top shelf with the power on friendship; the taller boy was standing on a chair, while the toddler held it still
♡ however, his grip on the jar of the Nutella must’ve loosened at some point as it now lay dejectedly on the ground, half spilled across the tiles and the other half drenching the toddler, not that they seemed to mind though
♡ in fact, it looked like they were having the time of their — albeit, short — life
♡ the container was only plastic, hence you didn’t have to worry about shards when you darted over to the poor, chocolate-covered baby and scooped them up into your arms, “are you guys, okay?!”
♡ “yeah.” the boy chuckled, noticing that holding the toddler was transferring the chocolate onto you too
♡ “if you wanted nutella, you could’ve just asked.” oikawa sighed, helping the boy get down safely from the chair before putting the object back at it’s intended spot at the dinner table
♡ “you could have gotten seriously hurt! i thought you would know better than to do something like this.” you scolded, becoming even more furious as the baby continued to playfully slap your face with their grimy hands, “please don’t do that again.”
♡ before they boy got the chance to do anything besides murmur a vague apology, oikawa interjected, “they won’t get the chance.”
♡ and he was right
♡ after cleaning everything up (including the child, which took forever), you didn’t let either of the rascals out of your sight until your duties as babysitters were complete
♡ “i think we handled that pretty well.” oikawa mused, gathering his stuff along with you as you both got ready to leave
♡ “yeah, maybe we should do this again sometime.” you suggested, but it was followed by a few second was complete silence
♡ until you both burst out laughing
♡ “yeah, never again.” you agreed
♡ “the kids can take care of themselves.” oikawa said with shrug, offering his hand to you, before you both strutted out of the disaster house
♡ ever since then, it was a common inside joke between you to, when in the vicinity of a kid causing mayhem or being a nuisance, whisper to each or exchange a look that says, ‘it’s a great day to not be babysitting.’
SATORI TENDŌ
♡ at first, you thought that asking tendou for help babysitting would be a bad idea bc he is just as hyperactive as the damn kids sometimes so he’d probably not be the best influence
♡ and you knew this bc one time you happened to run into him while out in the park with the kids and you asked him to watch them for literally a minute so you could run to the bathroom but when you came back all you almost had a heart attack because tendou was teaching them fkn tricks on the monkey bars
♡ however, you then realised that if the kids were busy committing arson with uncle tendou, then they wouldn’t be bothering you
♡ so here you are, playing monopoly with your boyfriend, a seven year-old and a one year-old
♡ well, it was less like monopoly and more like debate class since none of you could agree on the rules
♡ “well, uncle ten,” the older sibling began, in a very matter-of-factly tone, “if i burn your property down, then i don’t have to pay you for landing on it.”
♡ “but then you also go to jail.” you pointed out
♡ “not if the police don’t catch me.”
♡ you burst out laughing, meanwhile tendou kept his business face on, “good point, but watch this.” tendou spoke as he rolled the dice, though no matter what if he got a number between four and seven, he would end up landing on somebody’s property
♡ he got a four
♡ picking up his piece, he moved it across each square individually and once he was due to land on your property, he knocked his piece over
♡ “whoops, i slipped.” he chuckled, though his friendly aura immediately dropped as he looked you dead in the eye and said, “i’m suing.”
♡ “you can’t sue me because you tripped!” you yelled
♡ “i guess i just fell for you.” he said, resulting in the kids both making gagging noises before he stuck out his hand, “100 monopoly dollars, please.”
♡ “like i said,” you tried your best to stay strong and not laugh at his shitting pickup line, “i’m not giving you any money, you fell!”
♡ “i guess we’ll have to take this matter to court then.” tendou said, tapping the shoulder of the one year-old who was currently chewing on a 500 bill which you quickly had to confiscate
♡ “judge, do you think (y/n) owes me 100 monopoly dollars for poor health and safety conduct?”
♡ “yes.”
♡ “that is the only word they know how to say!” you cried, begrudgingly handing over the money
♡ “thank you, angel.” tendou cooed, adding your singular bill to the pile he had already stored up; the winner of the game had already been decided
♡ and although you and the seven year-old kid both cried later after getting your asses kicked in monopoly (the one year-old cried too but they were just hungry), you all went out to get food and actually had a pretty good time
♡ it became a routine for tendou to help you babysit whenever he got the chance and y’all would always play table top games
♡ also when tendou got accepted into culinary school, he’d teach/show the kids what dishes he has learned to prepare and let them help by stirring the pot, adding spices etc etc
♡ and even when he moved to Paris, on special occasions, a box of chocolates would suddenly appear at the kids’ door and all the little pieces would be shaped and moulded into some of their favourite characters or made out of their favourite flavours
♡ and at one point the kids even insisted that you teach them how to make chocolates so they can send some back to uncle tendou <33
♡ they weren’t the best, but when tendou received the misshapen, slightly stale chocolates at his apartment, addressed from you and the children, he cried
KIYOOMI SAKUSA
♡ his first response when you asked if he could help you babysit was ofc ‘ew no 🤢’
♡ needless to say it took a lot mansplain manipulate malewifing to convince him to come over
♡ but once he did, obviously he was in his full protective gear; there was no way in hell he was going to catch whatever germs the little goblins have
♡ honestly he almost sprayed a chid in the face with hand sanitizer when they came running up to him with open arms, trying to give him a hug
♡ which was unusual because the kids don’t tend to be overly friendly with new people, but you just brushed it off and figured that sakusa must’ve been an exception
♡ during his time babysitting, sakusa spend most of his energy trying to avoid the children at all costs that it basically became a game of tag, with you helping the child try to reach sakusa, and him hiding
♡ but honestly you couldn’t complain since the whole time the child was playing, they were safe with you rather than playing with fire
♡ until later you were reminded of their odd fondness for sakusa when they insisted that sakusa carry them to their bedroom when it was their nap time
♡ and as you were shifting through the books, looking for a story to read, it hit you why they seemed to be so familiar with sakusa
♡ it’s because he looked exactly like the prince in one of their favourite story books; same hair, both tall and they even had similar moles to each other
♡ upon noticing this, you immediately showed sakusa and was quite amused
♡ in fact, he found it so cute that he gave both you and the toddler a lil’ kiss on the cheek, as a parting gift — mask off and everything
♡ he ended up reading the story and the kid fell into deep slumber by the time he reached the second page
♡ letting out a sigh of relief, sakusa slumped onto the ground, allowing his own eyes to flutter shut for a moment, “what a day.”
♡ you shuffled over to you could lay down beside him, “indeed it was, prince sakusa.”
♡ “shut up.” he teased, poking your rib slightly before absently intertwining his fingers with your own
♡ next thing you knew, you were both awakened by the sound of a grumpy toddler...

Random Headcanon's for the Scream Character's
Billy really was a normal sweet kid and a good boyfriend before his mom left. Everyone paints him as always being crazy and his mom just triggered him but I honestly don't think that's true. Sidney and her parents would not have been okay with her dating a bad boy from Sophomore year onward. Sure it happens and maybe she saw past it but If Sidney would have seen how Billy acted with Randy in the videostore; instant break up imo. He could not have hid that side of himself for two years straight. Remember, they were dating a whole year prior to Maureen cheating. My theory is he may or may not have had a 'side' to him or other undiagnosed disorder in his gene pool (Mrs Loomis snapping too.) but Billy's psychotic breakdown was mostly situational + groomed by Roman and there were other things in his life that probably were boiling over and Debbie leaving him completely broke him. So, he was in an extremely vulnerable state when Roman came around and molded him. THAT is why Sidney trusted him so much in Scream before the phone incident and even somewhat after. Because Billy was a good boyfriend before her mom's murder and she would have never suspected it. Now how her or no one else could see him tumbling into madness or at least deep depression before Roman sank his talons in is beyond me. Maybe she did and he shrugged her off? Either way, the situation made him shut down all empathy towards other people and changed him. His empathy is towards his mom, possibly his dad since Hank never died and that is it. He has symptoms of a psychopath and even though that is usually genetic I 100% think a psychotic breakdown could do it as well.(Don't come for me bitch I'm not trained in any of this just using what I know from research 🧍♀️) If his mom never left and Roman didn't come along; Billy would have never been a killer
Contrary to Billy's situational psychological crazyness. Stu was always going to kill. I don't even think it's is he a sociopath vs a psychopath argument as much as he is just disconnected from reality. (Though he would most likely be a Sociopath if he was bc of his lack of boundaries as well impulsive behavior. Thinking killing was a game.) Stu possibly suffered abuse as a child. He was terrified of his parents more than the law. Either A. They abused him and permanently terrified him. Or B. He really has a stunted mentality and thinks of killing as a game and fears his parents more than the law bc the consequences are just not clicking LIKE A KID. He's like a giant little kid with no sense of how things work. He still could have been abused and that is what stunted his growth mentally. However, his violent tendacies were always there. Never preplanned just urgent anger or sadistic glee he couldn't control. Billy just suggested the killings and he was instantly down. Like, hell yeah cool. Most ppl no matter what mental illness they have or how severe are not that easy to convince. Whose to say he hadn't killed before or was planning to? My theory is he is so disconnected from reality that killing really is a giant fun game to him and he would have eventually murdered someone even without Billy.
Idk why this isn't more thought of throughout the fandom. Billy and Stu did not rape Maureen bc the evidence would have pointed to someone other than the guy they were framing. Cotton Weary had sex with Maureen, left, Billy and Stu taunted her on the phone and lured her away, they killed her, police suspected rape bc A. they didn't know about the affairs. B. Cotton's semen or her discharge or bruising being there. They naturally assumed it was rape but in actuality no one raped her. Cotton's dna from their affair incriminated him even more. Not saying that Billy and Stu would think of rape as morally wrong enough not to do in their book BUT it would have been stupid on their part and made it obvious there were other suspects besides Cotton.
Stu isn't a lapdog. Stu literally revealed on the phone he was going to throw Billy under the bus. He hesitated giving him the knife. Stu is like a kid. He most likely suffered trauma that regressed his mental age. He's eager to please, desperate for attention and most likely fawns over people he feels close to in an obsessive way. He could have even been in love with Billy and vice versa which is why he was so eager to please him. However, he was not nearly as stupid or a lapdog as much as the fandom makes him out to be. I think Randy saying it in the videostore sealed the deal for people even though he was only acting like that bc he was helping Billy too and covering their tracks. Billy was the one with the plan. Stu just tagged along out of the urge to kill. But he 100% had his own plan to kill and bail if needed. My mind is made up on that.
There was a third killer in Scream and it wasn't a teen or Roman. You're telling me two 17-18 yr old guys could come up with every detail? Roman only told Billy the basics. How did they get tactical police shoes? How did they get to the houses so fast and leave just as quickly? How did they both take down and restrain Steve or Neil by themselves enough to tie them up? Sure, Stu was deranged and tall but these two lanky teens were able to take on a football player with muscles and a grown man? Possible but stil meh to me. Their plan was too thorough for two teen boys to come up with on their own. Both crazy. One completely unhinged and disconnected from reality and the other so blinded by revenge he was stupid at times. (Fucking stabbing yourselves before killing Neil and Sidney. Not even thinking to AT LEAST tie Sidney up as well...Really? Jill was smarter in 4 in that respect tbh.) I truly think their was an adult involved in Scream helping them or guiding them. I would say Roman if it wasn't for him going back to Hollywood. But Billy and Stu had help DURING the killings 100%.
Randy is not this mecha survival final boy like the fandom thinks. The kid watched one too many horror movies and based them on real life. Scream itself is making fun of slasher movies and Randy was supposed to be the narrator setting most of the dumb rules up into play. Everyone is like "omg that's so out of character how he died in 2" no its not. If the rules work then him losing his virginity did him in. He was drinking, he was pissed off and not thinking. Plus Mrs. Loomis attacked in broad daylight, something no one thought of. (And the whole debate how a middle aged woman could pull him in. LOOK. Randy is a fucking small guy and she grabbed him backwards, using momentum to haul him back into the van. PLUS she was enraged at what he said about Billy. Adrenaline is a hell of a super drug as far as testing the bodies limits. I have seen tiny girls become the hulk when they are pissed I'm jus sayin) Point is, Randy was just a teen boy that loved horror movies. He was not some survival guide especially since it showed him even on the couch not aware of Ghostface behind him. He was a giant satire showing how even he didn't always follow the rules of slasher movies and how dumb the rules are.
Tatum loved Sidney and had more chemistry with her than Billy. I am not saying they weren't just BFF's and I don't want to ruin female friendship with constantly thinking "omg they are gay together" any time two women are close. BUT it is strange that it was only those two as friends especially since Sidney didn't fit into Tatum's popular social circle. It's like Tatum went out of her way to be friends with Sidney. Maybe they were childhood friends and that's why? But I think it's entirely possible that just like it's speculated that Stu and Billy were secretly in love; Tatum possibly was at least bi and in love with Sidney.

Your roommate had been trying for months to get you to go to one of the MC parties with her. She knew them from working at Vicki’s and she swore that you would have a good time if you just came to the clubhouse with her.
“Just for a couple hours,” she pleaded as she stood in the doorway to your room, “and if you’re really not having a good time, we can leave and I’ll never bother you about it again. Promise.”
You sighed, leaning your head back against your headboard, “Fine. Just so you won’t bother me about it anymore.”
She beamed, “Yes! Oh this is gonna be so fun,” you could practically see the thoughts racing through her head, “Wear those skinny jeans that make your butt look good.”
You groaned, “You’re gonna dress me, too?”
She laughed, “It’s just a friendly suggestion.”
It was a suggestion that you begrudgingly took her up on. She really wasn’t that pushy about what to wear, but she knew that she was able to nudge you out of your comfort zone a little bit sometimes. You’d ended up with a simple, low-cut black tank top, the jeans she had suggested, and a pair of black boots. You weren’t going to risk snapping your ankle in a pair of heels when you didn’t know what you’d be walking into.
Elena may have been persistent, but she was a woman of her word. She stayed by you when you first arrived, knowing the scene was a little overwhelming when you first walk into it. You weren’t quite sure what you had been expecting, but this wasn’t quite what you had pictured in your mind. It was a little tamer, a little less chaotic than your brain had been telling you it would be.
“C’mon,” she tugged you towards the bar, “I’ll get you a beer.”
“Elena, who are all these people?” you asked quietly as you scanned the room.
She started pointing out the members of the MC one by one, telling you their names and a few fun facts about each. Some of the facts were a little more information than you cared to know, but she got you to laugh. Some of the girls you recognized because they’d come over and hang out at your apartment sometimes, and it was nice to know that you knew more than just one person at the party. They said there was power in numbers, right?
“Hey, querida,” a voice piped up from behind the two of you.
Elena turned, a smile instantly spreading across her face as she walked up to the man who had been speaking to her and letting him scoop her up in a hug, “Angel, hey!”
He set her down and his eyes found their way over to you. You felt small under the weight of his gaze but you tried not to let it show. He glanced back to Elena, “You brought a friend?”
She laughed, nodding, “Angel, this is my roommate, and best friend, Y/N. Y/N, this is Angel, the biggest pain in the ass in the MC.”
He placed a hand over his chest, an exaggeratedly pained expression on his face, “Right to my heart.”
The three of you laughed and you shook your head slightly, the nerves beginning to dissipate a little bit. You weren’t expecting him to plop down on the stool next to yours, but he did. You looked over to Elena, as if to ask if you should be worried about anything. She flashed you a smile as she sat down on the other side of you, giving your arm a light, reassuring squeeze as she reached for her drink.
“So what questionable decisions led you here tonight?” he asked with a laugh as he took a swig of his beer.
You laughed, shaking your head, “Just throwing Elena a bone. She’s been wanting me to come here with her for a while.”
“Didn’t want to be hanging out with a bunch of degenerates?” there was a playful smirk on his face.
You smiled, “More like I didn’t want to be hanging out with a bunch of people in general,” you laughed, “I’m a bit of a homebody.”
“I’m working on that,” Elena piped in with a smile.
The three of you sat at the bar and talked for a little while. You could tell that Angel was trying to get a read on you, the new girl. You couldn’t be mad because you were doing the same thing to him. He was smooth, flirtatious, but not overbearingly so. That was a game you’d be willing to play for the night while you pacified your friend. If you were going to be forced to socialize, there were worse people to look at while doing it.
Elena must’ve gotten the vibe from you, because she politely excused herself from the conversation, letting you know that she wouldn’t be far if you decided that you wanted to bail and go home. You saw the smirk tugging at her lips as she walked away though, knowing that you were having a much better time there than you’d ever admit.
“So I gotta know,” Angel asked as he idly toyed with the beer bottle in his hands, “how does a homebody like you end up rooming with Miss “Life of the Party” Elena?”
You laughed, trying not to stare at the way his ringed fingers traced and curled around the neck of his beer bottle, “We actually had a few classes together our first year in college,” you shook your head, “Nothing bonds two people together like suffering through statistics classes together.”
He chuckled, “Fuck that.”
“That was exactly how we felt.”
The longer the two of you talked, the more he tested his boundaries. He wasn’t pushy, or inappropriate, but he was definitely trying to figure out what made you tick. You weren’t going to give him that kind of satisfaction so quickly, though. You bantered back and forth with him, and you couldn’t remember the last time a guy had you laughing so hard.
Angel was in the middle of an incredibly cheesy pickup line that he swore has worked for him before when the song coming through the speakers changed. You couldn’t help but to perk up a little bit at the familiar beat and Angel noticed the shift immediately. He watched you for a moment as he tried to feel out the situation.
“Wanna dance?”
You shook your head no with zero hesitation, “No thank you.”
He laughed, “C’mon, why not? Live a little.”
You smiled but didn’t move to get up from your stool, “I’m sure there are plenty of women here tonight that would love to dance with you, Angel.”
He didn’t push the topic any further. You were smiling but he could see the flash of emotion in your eyes and he knew that there was something there that you weren’t ready to tap into yet with him. So, instead, he got you another beer and delved back into his cheesy pickup line story. When you realized that he was going to move past what you just said and not make it awkward, the tension immediately melted out of your body. You gladly took the beer bottle from him as you listened him ramble into another story.
“Yo, Angel,” Coco called from the pool table, “get over here. Bring your friend, we need two more.”
“You play pool?” Angel asked you, curious to your answer.
You shrugged as you hopped off the stool, “I mean I know how to.”
He laughed as he followed you across the clubhouse, “That’s not a super reassuring answer, querida.”
“Man, fuck him. You can be on my team,” Coco said with a laugh, “He and Gilly can fend for themselves.”
There was something reassuring and welcoming about the way that Coco spoke to you—like he had known you for years. He handed you your pool stick, smile still plastered onto his face. This wasn’t how you had originally pictured your night going, but you weren’t upset about it.
About halfway through the game, Angel was pissed that he didn’t try to team up with you. You and Coco were on a hot-streak and he really didn’t expect that from you. He shook his head as you sank another shot, and you had to laugh at the way that Coco was able to effectively gloat with just a simple look thrown Angel’s way.
“I mean I know how to,” Angel mocked you with a laugh as he shook his head, watching you line up to take another shot, “Can’t believe you fuckin’ hustled me.”
You laughed, “I don’t think you can call it hustling if there’s no money involved. You’re just mad because we’re about to whoop your ass.”
He chuckled and glanced over at Coco, “Don’t look so smug, Coco. She’s fuckin’ carrying you right now.”
The game wrapped up quickly with you and Coco both doing so well. Gilly had been more than content to sit back and watch it all happen, reveling in the fact that someone, and someone new at that, was kicking Angel’s ass at pool. Angel was shaking his head as he set his stick aside, still trying to figure out how all of that just happened. For someone who claimed that they didn’t like going out and doing things, you seemed to be full of surprises.
“Since I am a gracious winner,” you said with a laugh as you let Coco put your stick away, “I’ll buy you all a drink.”
Angel went to protest, not wanting you to be buying anything for any of them, but Gilly slapped his chest to stop him. The look on Gilly’s face made it very evident that no matter how cute the girl was, none of them were about to be turning down free drinks. Angel laughed, holding his hands up in mock surrender.
As the night wore on, slowly but surely people began to trickle out of the clubhouse. You hadn’t really talked to Elena since you got wrapped up playing pool with the guys, but the two of you kept an eye on one another. Every now and then she’d shoot you a look, one that asked if you needed to get out, and you would just shake your head. She’d smile, sometimes throw you a wink, before getting wrapped back up into whatever she was doing. You knew that she was just glad to get you out of the house and socializing with people.
You and Angel were sitting next to each other on the couch talking, keeping your conversation low in the midst of music and noise still filling the clubhouse. You were shaking your head at him as he told you about some of the scrapes he’d gotten into with his brother, someone that you knew you’d also love to sit and have a conversation with eventually.
Elena walked up and gave you a nudge, smiling when you turned to her, “Not trying to rush you, but I think a couple of the girls and I are gonna head out. You want me to bring you home before I go with them?”
Truthfully, you didn’t want to leave. But she was your ride, so it wasn’t like you were going to have much of a choice. Just as you were about to speak up and say you’d get ready to leave, Angel interrupted, “I can take you home if you want.”
You glanced back at him, arching one eyebrow, “Oh?”
“Yea,” he shrugged, smiling, “I don’t mind.”
Elena bit at her bottom lip, trying to fight back a smile, “You good with that, Y/N?”
You nodded, “Yea, I think so,” you laughed, “Worst case scenario I have pepper spray in my bag.”
“Jesus,” Angel laughed.
Elena shook her head with a grin as she leaned down to kiss your cheek, “Text me when you’re home. Love you.”
“Love you too. Text when you get to wherever the hell you guys are all going,” you chuckled.
“Will do,” she turned and hugged Angel, “Get her home safe, or I’ll beat your ass.”
He nodded, trying hard not to laugh because he knew that she was serious, “Yes ma’am.”
When she was gone and it was just the two of you again, things felt a little different. You suddenly became very aware of the way that his arm was draped over the back of the couch, his fingers almost brushing against your shoulder. Despite the number of people that were still in the clubhouse, it felt like it was just you two left. Everything else felt farther away.
“Can I ask where you’re from?” he leaned in a little closer to you and took a sip of his beer, “Because I feel like you’re not from around here.”
You smiled, shaking your head, “I’m not. I’m from the East Coast—came out this way for college,” you laughed, “Very cliché, I know.”
“Ah, you’re one of them girls, huh?”
“Who are them girls?” you chuckled.
“Had to get the hell outta dodge?”
You smiled and nodded, not really wanting to get into the details of your decisions, “Something like that.”
“You musta broke a lot of hearts when you left,” there was a smirk tugging at his lips.
You laughed, “Wouldn’t know—haven’t been back to find out.”
Somewhere along the line of your conversation, the two of you had gotten very comfortable. You had your legs pulled up underneath you as you leaned into him, his hand resting lightly on the nape of your neck. Every now and then when you laughed your hand would come to rest on his thigh for a moment or two before you pulled it back to your own body. He wasn’t bold enough to say it but he wished that you’d leave it there.
There was a brief lull in the conversation and you looked around the clubhouse, seeing that the two of you were some of the last people there. You checked your phone, seeing that you had gotten the safety update from your roommate almost an hour before and hadn’t noticed from being so enthralled with Angel.
“You got that look on your face like you gotta get going,” Angel said knowingly.
You sighed, “Yea, unfortunately I still have to go and do life stuff tomorrow,” there was a hint of laughter to your voice.
His thumb traced idly along the exposed skin at the base of your neck, “We can take the bike, if you want.”
You pressed your lips together for a moment, “I’ve never ridden on one before.”
He chuckled as he rose to his feet, helping you to do the same, “Something tells me you’ll be fine.”
The two of you walked out of the clubhouse, Angel’s hand settling on the small of your back. The chilly night air hit your skin and sent a chill through you. Without a second thought, Angel peeled off his sweatshirt that he’d put on and handed it over to you. You started to shake your head no but he wordlessly pushed the hoodie into your hands. You gave in with a smile, pulling it down over your head. It was warm, and you were practically swimming in the fabric, but you didn’t mind.
He let you use his helmet, and you settled behind him after climbing onto the bike. Your hands were lightly resting on his waist and he pulled your arms tighter around him, causing you to press flush up against his back.
“Don’t be shy, querida,” he chuckled, “For your own safety as much as anything else.”
You laughed, thankful that he couldn’t see the sheepish smile on your face as you let your body rest against his. The bike came to life underneath you and you nervously wrapped your arms a little tighter around him, and you could feel him laughing despite the fact that you couldn’t hear him over the noise of the bike.
Slowly you eased into the ride, your nerves subsiding a little bit. Angel must’ve felt the tension dissipating because he picked up the speed a little bit, causing you to laugh and tighten your hold on him. You knew that Angel knew the way to yours and Elena’s apartment, so you knew that he was taking the long way there. As much as you wanted to call him out on it, you didn’t want him to think that you minded. It was a peaceful, freeing feeling to be riding with him.
He rolled to a stop in front of your apartment building. You hopped off the bike, handing him back his helmet. The two of you stood there and you knew that he could feel the same type of tension in the air that you felt. For a night that you really hadn’t been looking forward to, it was the best time that you’d had in a while.
You went to take his sweatshirt off to give back to him but he shook his head at you, “Nah, keep it.”
“You sure?”
He nodded with a smirk on his face, “Yea. Just give it back next time I see you.”
You smiled, “Next time? Who said I’m coming back to the clubhouse?”
He laughed and shook his head, “Damn, you and Elena are both out to keep my ego in check, huh?”
“It’s good for you,” you shifted your weight from one foot to the other, trying to ignore the fact that you felt nervous, trying to figure out how to say goodnight.
“But really,” he stepped in a little closer to you, forcing you to tilt your head up slightly to look him in the eye, “I’d really like to be able to see you again.”
You managed to keep a straight face for a few seconds, just long enough to make him nervous. You could see him racing to try and come up with a follow-up statement to get himself out of being rejected, and you let yourself smile as you nodded, “I’d like that.”
He let out an audible sigh of relief, “Had me worried for a second,” he chuckled.
You laughed, shaking your head, “Can’t make it too easy for you.”
He smiled, “Can I have your number? Or do I gotta level up for that?”
You rolled your eyes as you held your hand out, “Give me your phone before I change my mind.”
He chuckled as he dug it out of his pocket and pressed it into the palm of your hand. He watched you intently as you plugged your number in, smiling as you handed it back to him, “This your real number? Or one of those rejection hotlines?”
You smirked, “Guess you’ll have to call me and find out. One time I gave some dude the number that would just play the John Cena theme song over and over again. That was…peak rejection.”
“That’s not exactly reassuring for me, you get that, right?” he laughed.
You smiled and shook your head, “It’s my real number, promise,” you stood up on your tip-toes and kissed him on the cheek, “Thanks for bringing me home.”
He couldn’t hide that he was surprised by the gesture. A huge smile spread across his face as he nodded, “Yea, any time.”
“Get home safe.”
He nodded, “I will,” he pressed a kiss to your forehead, “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” you crossed your arms over your chest, trapping the heat against your body as you watched him get back on his bike and strap his helmet on. He flashed you another smile and you waved him off.
You let out a small sigh of contentment as you turned around and made your way into your building. The walk up to your apartment seemed much shorter as you replayed the night over in your head. You turned the key in the lock and stepped in, glad to be home but simultaneously wishing that the night wasn’t over yet. You showered and threw your pajamas on, falling into your bed with a happy sigh. After shutting the light off and settling in underneath your blanket, your phone buzzed on your nightstand. You reached over to see who it was, and smiled when you saw a message waiting for you from a new number.
“Home safe. Sweet dreams” after a few seconds a second text came in, “It’s Angel by the way”
You chuckled as you typed out your reply, ‘Thanks for the clarification. Got worried for a second”
“Just tryna be sweet and you can’t let me have it, can you?”
“Nope” you were laughing in the quiet darkness of your room.
“Alright. Sweet nightmares then. Goodnight”
You could picture his face and you couldn’t stop smiling, “Goodnight xo”
You set your phone off to the side again, settling back down underneath your covers. Your body wanted to sleep but your brain was too busy replaying the entire night over again and you couldn’t stop smiling.

Catfish
prompt: mother says to be wary of people you meet on the internet, especially since you never know who’s on the other side of the screen.
pairing: atsumu x reader
the unpaid extras: osamu, suna
general taglist: @graykageyama
Osamu liked to mess with his brother and lately he’s been planning the largest prank. It originally wasn’t supposed become a huge thing, but then Suna just kept edging him on; adding more things one by one and it just spiraled. Osamu was catfishing Atsumu with your pictures.
Now, Osamu knows that it sounds bad but technically you were in on the prank. You had never met nor even knew Atsumu, heck, you didn’t even know who Osamu was. You had been part of the prank merely through text messages and the occasional meet up with Suna.
To put it simply, Suna met you through one of his teammates; coincidentally you ended up in one of his classes and the two of you built a tiny friendship. Which was why, when Suna was thinking of the perfect person to catfish Atsumu with; your face lit up in his head.
You were the perfect candidate, exactly Atsumu’s type literally to a tee. When Suna pulled up your contact, the first thing he did was offer to pay you. Every picture you sent used for the prank, he’ll send you cash through an app and as a broke college student who needed cash fast, you agreed as long as the photos weren’t used for anything weird or sexual. He made sure to send you proof of each photo in use.
This brings it all back to dear Osamu catfishing his brother. He had created an entirely new Instagram for you, complete using your name and a cute description that him and Suna had spent two hours thinking of. They decided to even spend a few days perfecting it, posting pictures a few days apart with captions, following random groups, liking posts, essentially creating a whole new personality using your photos. Osamu had even developed a fake occupation for you; a foodie blogger to which some posts were dedicated to food reviews for restaurants Osamu deemed worthy of a post.
And when Osamu says that the prank spiraled; it fucking spiraled. Originally it started with Suna and Osamu following the account, suddenly Suna’s teammates began following the account. Osamu made the mistake of tagging Onigirl Miya in one of your photos, ultimately adding a few random people to follow the account. Suddenly after two weeks of having the account, you gained over two thousand follows.
It was no worries though, because Osamu can quickly catfish Atsumu, take down the account, and call it all good.
Safe to say, Atsumu accepted the friend request rather quickly. Osamu and Suna snicker to themselves, it took Atsumu less than five minutes to accept and he was already liking all of your photos. Not even ten minutes pass and he’s sliding into the DM’s.
The two men looking at the phone and burst into laughter. They spend five minutes cackling at Atsumu’s random ‘hey’ message that followed with a smiling emoji.
Osamu was absolutely entertained, it was hilarious that his own brother had fallen for his catfish and honestly, Osamu was ready to give up the act after three days but then Atsumu said something that just really pissed him off. He doesn’t remember what it was, he just suddenly ended up two more weeks later still having the fake Instagram account and still having Atsumu believe that he was falling in love with some girl.
Somehow the account ended up with over five thousand followers, Atsumu messages the account religiously, and Osamu for some godly reason is still managing the account three months later. It’s spiraled.
“I have a girlfriend!” Atsumu doesn’t know why his friend and brother are laughing. He’s scrolling through your Instagram, the catfish Instagram.
Osamu almost chokes on his food, “So what, have you guys gone on a date? Have you even seen her in real life?” Suna snorts into his drink, he coughs when he accidentally inhales the water sharply.
Atsumu slumps in his seat, his voice small, “No, but we talk every day and she likes me!”
Suna is coughing even harder now, tears threatening to leave his eyes to the point that he excuses himself to the bathroom. Osamu has a shit eating grin on his face, “How do you know she’s actually not some old dude catfishing you?”
“She’s not!” Atsumu stutters, “She’s real!”
“Prove it.”
Osamu was about to learn a harsh lesson about the world; the world loves to bite you in the ass when you least expect it.
Atsumu leans forward, an eerie grin on his lips, “Happily.” Atsumu whips out his phone, quickly presses a number and holds the phone to his ear. He holds a finger up to his brother, even gesturing for the returning Suna to remain quiet. The phone picks up, “Hey babe, you wanna meet me here at Onigiri Miya?” Atsumu looks at the watch on his wrist, “Twenty minutes? Perfect.”
Osamu’s believing his brother is bluffing. There was no way in hell he’d be able to somehow magically bring the catfish to life, heck, Atsumu would be a god if suddenly he could. Thirty minutes pass, Osamu is exchanging looks with Suna. It’s absolutely silent between the three.
Osamu is suddenly feeling guilty, Suna is uncomfortable to the point that he’s even texting you to make sure you weren’t actually coming, and you confirmed with him that you weren’t.
“Should we tell him?” Osamu whispers when another five minutes pass.
Suna is deadpanned, “I don’t know, we’re kind of reaching a sad territory now. Let’s just break up with him and ghost him.”
Osamu groans, “But do we want to deal with a sad Atsumu, I’ll take getting my ass kicked over him crying in my apartment.”
The door chimes and their jaws smack the floor. You walked through the door, eyes roaming the place before landing on the three huddled into the corner. Is he a fucking god? Atsumu stands from his seat, he meets you halfway, pulling you into a heartfelt kiss that has you swooning.
The closer you approach with Atsumu’s arm around your shoulder, the more they truly begin to believe that Atsumu is a god.
“Guys, this is my girlfriend.” This time it’s Atsumu who has a shit-eating grin, “Ain’t she a beauty, the pictures don’t do her justice.”
It takes everything in Osamu to not scream, “But, you said you’d never even met her before.”
Atsumu gazes into your eyes, hearts practically floating above his head, “I mean I guess technically this is our first-time meeting, right?”
You nod, a puppy like expression on your face, “I’m sorry, I haven’t introduced myself yet. You must be Osamu.” You point to him then your fingers drag to the other male, “Suna.”
“Oh.” Suna sits straight up, “Oh!” He catches the glint in your eyes, the conniving little minx of a look. Suna was no longer calm, “We’ve been double crossed!”
There’s screaming, fingers are being pointed at each other, Atsumu is gripping Osamu by the neck of his shirt, Suna is literally calling your phone to make sure that it’s actually you, Osamu is pulling his brother’s hair. The customers of the restaurant stare with their jaws dropped at the scene.
Everyone is squished into Osamu’s small office. Suna is sitting on the desktop, Osamu in his chair, Atsumu in the spare seat, and you lean on the arm of Atsumu’s chair. His arm dangles around your waist, pulling you to lean on him with a cheery grin.
Atsumu leans forward, taking in the expressions of the two bewildered boys, “I guess let’s start at the beginning.”
While the story technically began three months ago with Suna asking for your cooperation, the story of you and Atsumu began two months ago.
The extra cash from all the pictures you sent Suna was giving you enough to be able to go out and live a little on the weekends. Originally the bar was dead, you and your friends were tucked into the corner in a booth when a rowdy bunch of men came in. Your friends gasped having recognize them as members of a sports team and with their excitement, they must have won a game.
It didn’t affect your group that much until it came to split ways; being in your last year of university, you excused yourself, insisting that you needed to go home to finish a project. As you stood at the register, card tapping against the counter, that was when he showed up.
At this point, Atsumu had spent the past hour believing the gods were on his side. He practically walked by your table ten times just to make sure the face matched the one in his instagram’s DM. After forty minutes of the constant back and forth, your quick gazes at him walking by the table seem to do nothing. Were you unable to recognize him?
He took his shot watching you stand alone at the counter. He finishes off his drink and smoothly strides to you.
“Hey!” Atsumu leans on the counter, flashing a smile despite alcohol dripping from the side of his mouth, “Wouldn’t you consider this fate?” He gestures between the both of you.
You’re confused, shooting him a puzzled gaze, “Sorry, you must have me mistaken for someone else.” You hand the card to the worker, anxiously eyeing the male who’s increasingly invading your space.
Atsumu places a hand on the small of your back, it was something Instagram you had mentioned you liked, instead it triggered a fight or flight. Your hand makes harsh contact with his cheek, he retracts his hand immediately.
“Don’t touch me!” You bark at him, “Perv.” You’re aggressively signing the receipt, storming out of the door while other men seem to ooh at Atsumu’s situation.
“Hey!” Atsumu catches your figure outside of the bar, you’re waving a hand to catch a cab, “I think we got off on the wrong foot there.”
You don’t give him a second glance, “Look, I don’t know who you think you are.”
“Atsumu.” He stands right in front of you, blocking your sights for a cab. He’s got the widest smile on his face as he holds out a hand, “Miya Atsumu. Volleyball player. Setter for the Black Jackals.”
“Okay.” You run a hand through your hair, oddly taking his hand into a shake while eyeing him, “Miya Atsumu, volleyball player, setter for the Black Jackals.”
You step to the side, arm out still trying to catch a taxi but he blocks your way once more and he looks at you with such wonder. His eyes practically having stars coming out and his smile warm and inviting. He was wondering if you were a twin, maybe he had actually gotten the wrong person.
“You are?”
The wind is causing your hair to blow in your face, he wants to so bad to brush the strands behind your ears but the way you gave him a slap earlier makes him think that’s a bad idea. Your fingers pull your hair back, “Y/n. I don’t have a fancy title like yours but, I guess I don’t know, senior to be graduating at the university.” You sidestep him once more, “I’m just trying to catch a cab home.”
Once more he blocks your way and you look at him with defeat. He was persistent. He laughs, “Sorry, last time, but do you not know me?”
You’re still as confused as ever, “Look if you’re going to pull some cheesy line about seeing me before, it’s not going to work.”
“Wait, just hold on a second.” Atsumu pulls out his phone, his fingers are shaking as he presses onto the app. He pulls up your profile, handing you his cell phone, “This is you isn’t it?!”
Your eyes scan the social media page, your mouth falling open, there’s a hidden laugh itching in your throat. These were all the picture you had taken for Suna and somehow, you’re being shown by a stranger your fake profile.
“We’ve been messaging for like a month, I can’t believe you don’t recognize me.”
I don’t recognize you because I’m not the one talking to you.
You’re perplexed, you weren’t sure what you were supposed to do, if you told him he’s being catfished you’d lose the flow of side cash you’ve developed but if you didn’t, isn’t that just wrong. And the more you look at him from under the stars, he’s rather cute; you suddenly feel bad for slapping his face earlier.
“Do you want to get some coffee?”
Your offer sends him over the moon, he’s walking alongside you to the nearest convenience; Atsumu is rather talkative, bringing up topics of everything and anything that comes to his mind. As the two of you look over drink options in the cooler, his hands pull two cans of black coffee.
“You’re favorite right?” He holds one out to you.
Your actively smiling, biting your lower lip and wondering if you needed to play along with the role but as he stares at you with such adoring eyes, it makes your heart skip a beat just taking in the fact that he would remember something trivial over text.
“Actually.” You place the drink back, opting for a sweeter caramel macchiato, “I would say that this is my favorite.”
Atsumu quirks a brow, “Are you saying you were lying to me?” He places a hand over his heart, “And here I thought we were soulmates.”
Your hand smacks against his arm, “Shut up.”
“So what are you studying for?” Atsumu sips his drink, the two of you leaning against the windows of the convenience store. There’s a slight sway in his body and you’ve unknowingly followed his movements.
“Literature. Once I graduate, an internship is probably where I’ll start but I’m hoping I can get hired into a publishing company.” He’s comfortable to be with and you aren’t sure if it’s because he thinks he knows you or because his presence is just like that; comfortable.
Atsumu finishes off his canned beverage, “And you do that, all on top of running a foodie Instagram.”
From what you gathered on a quick skim of the account; they have your occupation as a lower level food blog; it’s rather funny. You can only nod to him, “It’s just a side hobby really.”
“Well maybe I could join you on one of your little adventures.”
You try to suppress the immense grin that wants to grow on your lips, there’s an internal battle happening of whether you should tell him or not but once again, the way he looks at you, the cute doe eyed look; it puts butterflies in your stomach.
“How about tomorrow?” He lets out a small gasp, your hands pull out your cell phone and offer it to him, “Your number?”
“I’m free for lunch, just text me when and where.”
You press the number he’s inserted into his contact; in a second his cell rings and he’s showing off his screen, “Don’t message me on Instagram though, I’m detoxing from social media for a bit. Just, text my number.”
He walks you to the curb, helping you flag down a cab, and you give him one last gleeful glance before getting into the car. As you sit, you’re quick to dial Suna’s number. You know he’s probably sleeping but the light feeling in your heart overrides his sleep schedule.
“What?” He’s groaning.
“Suna listen to me carefully. The prank that you guys are doing.” You hear a small snore, “Suna!” He jolts awake and you groan, “You know what, go back to sleep.”
“Thanks.” He hangs up immediately.
Your phone dings, Atsumu’s name pops up. Can’t wait for our date. You bite on your thumb, a smile on you before you respond.
Although having just seen him forty minutes ago, you two text back and forth. First he wondered if you arrived home safe, next he sent pictures of himself insisting it’s for you to choose for his icon, then he proceeds to narrate his way home. You wonder if you’re responding like catfish you but the more he brings up random topics, the more you forget about that stupid prank.
Wait let me call you.
Your heart beats faster, your phone lighting up with his name. You press the answer button slowly, “Hello?” You giggle.
“You’re telling me that you like spikers more than setters.” His voice is nearly screaming and you lean back on your chair laughing into the phone.
The quick research you did on his team had you watching short videos, and while you had to admit it was amazing to watch, your eyes drifted more to one of his teammates than him, “What’s his name?” You lean to look at your computer screen, “Bokuto Koutarou?”
“No!” He’s whining out into the air, “If I had known you were a spiker girl I would have changed positions.”
Your eyes catch the time on your laptop, “Woah. It’s three in the morning.” That meant you had spent over four hours total texting him and now you were on the phone with him, “What are you doing awake?”
He blows out a breath of air, “I could ask you the same thing.”
“Well.” You draw out the word, dragging your self to your bed, “I’m going to go to sleep now.” There’s a pause on the line, “Atsumu?” He hums tiredly, “Good night.”
There’s a small snore from him before he shifts around, “Good night.”
The morning light urges you awake, for a second you peak at your phone’s time and it nears ten in the morning. You’re about to throw your phone back onto the bedside table until Atsumu’s name catches your eye. For having gone to bed at three a.m. he shot you a text at seven.
Morning beautiful.
It was sweet, simple, and it made you smile; giving you the extra push to get out of bed. You stalked your own catfish page, there hadn’t seemed to be any updates so there was still time. A quick search of the internet has you picking out a random restaurant nearby and you send off a text to Atsumu about a meeting time.
You were late, pushing through the doors of the restaurant, your eyes scan the place to see him raise a hand for you. He’s dashingly handsome despite being in casual wear, you wonder if he spent time like you did just trying to pick out an outfit or if he spent forever gelling his hair as long as you tried to get your strands into the perfect waves.
“Sorry, did you wait long?” You pull into the seat in front of him.
He’s smiling and you hope to god that when you break the news to him, he’ll still smile for you, “I just got here not too long ago too.” He looks over the menu quickly, “What do you think you’ll get?”
You inspect each dish, a light hum on you as you dance around the option, “The spaghetti sounds nice.”
Atsumu tilts his head, “It has red meat in it.” You stare blankly at him, “Aren’t you allergic to red meat?”
“Oh.” You set the menu down, “Actually.” He follows your actions, you’ve become nervous at what you’re suddenly about to do, “There’s something you should know.”
“Fuck this!” Atsumu throws the napkin on the table, you jump as he harshly stands, throwing the chair back.
“Atsumu.” You stand.
“No! Don’t. Were you just messing with me then? Did Osamu tell you I was going to be at the bar last night?” Atsumu’s fist ball, “You know what, whatever.”
“Wait.” You follow him behind, “Atsumu. I’m sorry.”
He harshly turns to you, god, even in sunlight you were beautiful to him. He wants to laugh, the month he spent talking to the fake you; yeah that was all bullshit to him but honestly when he saw you last night, when he spent over four hours actually talking to you; he actually felt that maybe this could be something deeper.
“I’m really sorry, I know I should have said something right away.” You have a soft pout on you and it makes him outwardly groan.
He runs a hand through his hair, “Okay, it’s fine. I probably deserved this prank too anyways; must have pissed him off somehow.” He waves a hand, “You can just go back to doing whatever.”
Your hand pulls on his wrist, “I owe you a meal.” You bat your eyes with a cheeky grin, “If you take pictures of me, we can send them to Suna and use the money for our food.”
“Oh.” He begins to smile, “I like that idea.”
Back into Osamu’s office, Atsumu has now pulled you onto his lap, your head resting on his shoulder with arms hanging around his shoulders. The two bachelors stare at the sickly loving sight.
A lightbulb goes off in Suna’s head, “Wait! My money!”
You snort a laugh into Atsumu’s shoulder, “Hey, I earned that fair and square. You paid for goods.”
Osamu is having a staring contest with his brother, “So you two have been actually dating for two months? Why would you still message the catfish account then, why not just kick my ass when you found out?”
Atsumu taps a finger on his chin, “Well, I was just originally going to ghost you guys but then babe here and I discovered that we could fund all of our dates with Suna’s money. We even started setting aside leftover cash from our dates to plan a trip.”
You giggle, “We’re going to Disney next weekend.”
“All the pictures.” Suna whispers.
There’s an amused hum in your throat, “Honestly I’m surprised you guys didn’t figure it out. We were dropping hints in the photos.”
Indeed, the two males looked at the pictures you sent them. If they backtracked to two months ago, there wouldn’t be any hints but the closer they get to the present; it was painfully obvious. They were just too caught up in their excitement to even notice. In one photo, part of Atsumu’s shoulder and hair was just barely in the picture; another had his reflection vividly displayed in the window of the restaurant, and somehow Osamu and Suna missed the obvious Black Jackals jacket sitting on the back of the chair next to you.
The two boys were having a mental breakdown.
You shifted on Atsumu’s lap, leaning forward to tap against the top of Osamu’s phone, “Now, if you’d please deactivate the account since this whole charade is over.”
Osamu ended up not deleting the account. He set the account to private because seeing how his brother was so deeply entranced by you, Osamu had a feeling this one was going to last and he was right; on Atsumu’s wedding day, his little best-man speech had him whipping out the catfish Instagram to display on the monitor for everyone to see.

Jealous!Reader with AOT characters pt.2 (Porco, Bertholdt, Pieck, Zeke)
A/N: y’all really liked the first one I made here, so here’s a pt.2 with different characters
TW: none really apply, sort of suggestive for Zeke, Modern AU, GN!reader
PORCO GALLIARD
I am a firm believer that in a modern AU, Porco and Reiner would be the type of people to go to sport restaurants like Hooters, Buffalo Wild Wings, or Twin Peaks. They give me that macho man type of vibe. Of course though, Porco would make you tag along with him almost every time he went. He feels that it’s a very nice way for the two of you to bond. Which honestly it is.
You have a deep sense of security within yourself and enough trust in Porco to not be bothered by the waitresses there, as you should, knowing that it’s only their job to be enticing like that. Hell, you even enjoy it when the waitresses would flirt with you sometimes or you’d get the really pretty ones who look like they’re straight off of a magazine. Not to mention that you visit places like this often, so most of them know you and know that you and Porco are in a relationship together.
They all respect your boundaries and don’t try to push at them at all.....until this one waitress comes around. You can quite obviously tell that her flirting is different from the “trained” flirting that the other girls often do. She lingers at your table a little longer than she should be trying to talk to Porco to the point where other waitresses have to tell her to go check on other tables and she’s disregarding you completely, asking Porco questions that should be aimed at you and being very rude in general.
Porco is hardly paying her any mind, too focused on the game to really pay attention to what’s going on, but any piece of attention he gives to her she latches on too it. But still, you remain cordial and calm on the inside. Not wanting to come off as one of those significant others and cause a scene that doesn’t need to be caused. If someone looked at you for too long they might notice an eye twitch or two coming from you.
Really it’s Porco’s hand holding underneath the table that’s keeping you sane and reminding you of how secure your position in your relationship is. You almost calm down entirely, but of course the waitress has to come back and try desperately to get his attention again. At one point he zones out into the game and to try and get his attention she attempts to tap him on his shoulder.
Strong on the attempt because you grabbed her wrist before she could even brush her fingers against his shirt and gave her a stern “Aht! Aht! That is not going to be happening tonight and definitely not in front of me.”
And Porco, this menace to society, finally speaks up like, “I was wondering when you were finally going to say something. I was getting afraid that I didn’t mean anything to you anymore.” He would’ve eventually intervened himself though if she was actually successful in touching him.
The waitress gets the hint for the rest of the night, but just incase she doesn’t he holds you close to his side with his arm draped over your shoulders.
BERTHOLDT HOOVER
Despite his soft spoken nature and personality that sometimes falls on the shy part of the spectrum, Bertholdt is actually an easy person to come up to and start a conversation with. Of course, you have to be the one to start the conversation, but after that it’s like he can’t shut up, likes he’s compelled to answer back to everything and keep a conversation going.
It’s a trait of his that you’ve come to love, but also come to hate on days when you’re out in public with him and can just see the twinkle in a girl’s eyes when she’s getting ready to come over to him to flirt. It’s usually in awkward situations too like when you’re out shopping and he’s standing off to the side because he has no business looking at what you’re shopping for, so the fact that he’s kind of alienated from you and doesn’t know how to respond to flirting all that well in the first place really has him in an awkward chokehold.
He’ll get asked for his number and instead of saying flat out no, because he doesn’t want to be harsh, he struggles to let words out at all as he tries to think of what to say. And people really prey on his shyness and don’t even give him the chance to respond before they’re forcing themselves on him more, handing their phone out to him just waiting to input a number.
Imagine the shock and anger on your face when you turn around from your shopping happy ready to show Bertholdt what you got and instead you see a girl trying to get his number! You’re over there in an instant, legs carrying you as fast as they can and a scold on your face as you go over there and the first thing you do is push that phone as far away from him as you can.
“I know my BOYFRIEND and something tells me that he is not interested in the direction this conversation is going with you whatsoever, so I suggest you leave him alone before I make you 😤” The girl leaves like immediately after that.
Bert is just behind you the whole time with a ☺️ look on his face like “Yes, that is indeed my significant other!” Which is so funny because he’s like 6’3 and towering over you, but you’re the feisty one!
He does feel kinda guilty for not cutting off the interaction before it got that far, so he wraps his arms around you and nuzzle his face into your neck all like, “I’m sorry baby 🥺🥺 you know I don’t like anyone else but you 🥺🥺 I was trying to tell them no thank you but it wouldn’t come out 🥺🥺”
You couldn’t stay mad at him even if you wanted to, that’s all it takes for you to forget about it altogether.
PIECK FINGER
It’s almost impossible to see someone as fine looking as Pieck and not shoot your shot. If I saw Pieck out in public the first thing I would do is shoot my shot.
It happens allll the time whenever you two go out. Out at the mall shopping for clothes? Someone’s going to come up to you two and try to hit on Pieck. At the club minding each other’s business and trying to have a good time? Some guy is going to come over and try to ruin that for you too.
At first it was like a bragging rights thing for you. Everyone noticed your hot girlfriend was hot but you were the one who went home to her everyday and not them, but at some point it switched from a bragging right to down right annoying. It’s like you can’t leave her alone for more than a couple of seconds because here comes someone breathing down her neck being a weirdo!
Poor Pieck doesn’t even know what’s going on half of the time because she be baked out of her mind, thinking about nothing but how some ruffles and ice cream can really hit right now. So she’s just going along with the conversation like “mhm, yeah ☺️” every ten seconds hoping that they’d get the hint that she’s not thinking about them at all and to leave her alone. But, of course, they don’t.
Her body language becomes stressed out and agitated, not knowing what to do because you’re in the gas station buying snacks for the two of you while she’s far away at the gas pumps doing her best to get an ending with this weirdo where they don’t kidnap her.
Luckily, just on time you exit out the gas station and even before you get any closer to Pieck you’re already pissed off at the fact that someone is probably hitting on her, but after you see her do that awkward little shuffle with her feet signifying that she’s uncomfortable? You’re over there in a heartbeat.
See, maybe you would’ve been a bit nicer if her body language didn’t tell you that they had been pestering her for a while despite how everything about her screamed ‘not interested.’
So what do you do? You take the bottle of sprite you bought and bop them on the head with it. Head empty no thoughts just ‘protect my stoner girlfriend.’
Pieck is so messy too, she’s in the background like “Ohhhhh shit *giggle* fight! Fight! Fight!” You were ready to rumble too, but if you were so ready to hit them in the head with a sprite bottle the other person definitely didn’t want to know what else you were confident with doing. So they recuperated from their sprite bottle hit and went running to their car.
This was a proud girlfriend moment for Pieck the whole drive home. She could not stop talking about how much of a badass you were and how she loved that you would do anything for her.
ZEKE JAEGER
I wrote soft Zeke already, so now it’s time for me to give y’all the menace Zeke y’all have been waiting for.
Zeke is the type of significant other who’s big on teasing and messing with his partner is general. There’s something about seeing them all flustered after he does something to embarrass them, like fake propose to them in public or something, that really cracks him up. That being said, he’s not opposed to flirting with someone in front of you to get you riled up and see your reaction.
Let’s set the scene; He drags you to Sam Ash with him, because we’ve all just collectively decided that modern day Zeke is a music pretentious asshole, to go get something for his guitar or at least that’s what you assume he was complaining about. You weren’t even listening, just excited to go and mess with the drums and guitars there. It’s the first thing you do once you get there and Zeke sees this as his opportunity to finally mess with you.
He goes over to the drum set display you’re playing on and calls over and employee with “inquiries” about the set you’re playing on. He pretends to ask a few genuine questions at first but eventually he’s able to get the conversation to shift to something a little more personal. Which isn’t terrible, but once he starts throwing out lines like “Oh you like (said band)? I’ve always found myself gravitating towards people who like them. They’re always the most attractive people, I’ve found 😏.” Is when you start getting agitated.
You’re just trying to play We Will Rock You on the drums and here he goes killing your vibe immensely. And it’s hard to ignore when they’re standing right on the side of you. Not to mention how the employee is eating all of this up, blushing and all. It’s at the first mention of numbers being exchanged that you’ve decided you’ve had enough. Without a word to Zeke you get up and storm out of the store.
Was this a dick move on his end? Absolutely, but you’re a couple who’s relationship is filled with debating and bickering, bickering especially, so part of him thought you would play along with his little game and be like “Whatever. I don’t care.” But instead, you were genuinely upset. You didn’t even know where you were going but you were going somewhere. And that somewhere was the outside of the Sam Ash store because you realized you really didn’t have a choice.
Sorry guys, but I have to switch over to soft Zeke now.
He comes running after you, “y/n! Y/n it was a joke!” But that just makes you even more mad and oops, a year drops down your face and he feels terrible.
Kisses all over your face, words of assurance spilling out his lips, and a tight ass beat hug.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I’m such a dick I know. I didn’t mean to make you this upset though.” He would get down on his knees if he had to!
I guess you can forgive him just this once, but only on the terms that you get Sub!Zeke tonight and get to act as a pillow princess/prince cause he has a lot of making up to do.

"You're more powerful than you think, Y/n. What's he gonna do? Splash you?"
pairing: percy jackson x child of hecate!reader
words: 4,321
warnings: none?? some violence but nothing gory
timeline: post sea of monsters
if you want to be tagged every time I update this story click here
a/n: i can't believe I actually posted this on time. i hope you guys like it!
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four
Atticus leans against a tree, his hands in his pockets as he gives the wood nymphs a smirk that made you want to throw up. The three girls that stand in front of him giggle, nudging his shoulder playfully at something he said. You couldn't hear much from afar, but you doubt it was that funny, the girls just entertaining him because he's handsome or whatever. You scoff softly under your breath, turning away and sharing a look with Lou Ellen, who's scratching the backs of Ambrose's ears. The two of you rolling your eyes simultaneously before you turn on your heels.
While talking amongst themselves, your older brothers are huddled together, the three of them with furrowed eyebrows, serious stares seemingly deep in conversation. As Ernest takes a moment to look up from their circle, you meet his gaze. You don't fail to notice the nervous smile he gives you as he lightly jabs Alabaster in the ribs with his elbow. Furrowing your eyebrows, your steps become hesitant as Alabaster halts mid-sentence, his scowl fading into a friendly smile.
“What’s up?” You ask hesitantly. It was clear you had interrupted something. James and Ernest look at Alabaster, waiting for him to respond to your question. Alabaster shakes his head,
“Nothing. What happened? Got bored of watching your brother flirt with the wood nymphs?” He jokes with you, and you smile, willing to look past the strange tension between them.
“Not bored, more like I couldn’t stand it anymore,” you say, making your brothers chuckle.
“Dude’s got game,” Ernest nods proudly as he shrugs. You cringe,
“Gross.” Lou Ellen giggles as she joins you, her arms wrapping around yours. “Anyways, what are we doing to pass time today?”
Capture the flag was probably one of the activities you hated most at camp. Especially when you were playing on the same side as the Ares Cabin. None of you were strong sword fighters or archers, only relying on your powers in battle and this deemed you guys as not useful by Clarisse’s standards. This meant you and your siblings were always stationed at the same side of the forest where you rarely got any action.
Alabaster hums, his hands shoved in his pockets, “I was actually thinking that we should take over the game,” he suggests, and your eyes widen in surprise.
“What? Clarisse will lose her mind if we meddle with the game.” You really didn’t want to deal with her. Because of the run-ins you've had with her in the past, you preferred to stay out of her way because then, for the most part, she’ll stay out of yours. You were slow to anger, but when you got riled up about something, you raged. And in terms of Clarisse, she just knew how to get you there. Alabaster rolls his eyes,
"Yeah, well, we always lose because Clarisse takes the same approach every time. She has us tossed to the side as if we're useless. I'm serious; let’s prove ourselves. You can get the flag, Y/n. Take down Percy, and we'll cover you."
You shift, exchanging looks with your brothers. Not only were you surprised at Alabaster wanting to jump in the game, but he was also assigning you the task of taking down the other team's main defense. Alabaster was hands down your most powerful sibling at camp. Though you didn’t have a cabin, there was an unspoken agreement that he was the representative of the Hecate children. He’s been studying the longest and has taught you almost everything you know. You weren’t sure why he was putting you out there when he could do a better job at trapping Percy. Though Alabaster has praised you for being a quick learner and dedicated to your studies, you didn’t quite see the potential he obviously saw in you.
"I don't know… me against Percy? I don't think I'm the best one to put out there," you gradually begin mumbling your words as Alabaster’s face hardens at your self-doubt. He scoffs, looking off into the forest as he shakes his head,
"You’re more powerful than you think, Y/n. What is he gonna do? Splash you?" You gawk at him, not sure if he was discrediting Percy's powers or if he was truly ignorant to what he could do. You haven't seen Percy do much in person, but from the stories you've heard about what he's done on his quests, you couldn't act like he wasn't powerful. Your brother’s chuckle at what Alabaster said, and Ernest nods,
“You got this, Y/n. Remember, our powers are almost limitless; it all depends on up here,” he says as he taps your forehead with his index finger softly. “Your mind can be your sidekick or your downfall.”
You smile at the reminder and nod. Your siblings have always been your biggest motivators when it came to your magic. There are only 8 of you, so you guys are a tight-knit group, always encouraging each other to excel in your abilities.
Though you guys are all around the same age, you look up to your brothers the most. Alabaster, Ernest, and James are the most knowledgeable ones out of the bunch. They were usually the ones giving demonstrations of spells and potions, passing you notes from their book of shadows. James taught you and Atticus how to control your magic when you were angry, Alabaster taught you most of your defense magic, and Ernest just had a way of being able to lift everyone's spirits. They believed in you, you all believed in each other, and you couldn’t ask for a better family.
Still, with their words of praise and advice, you were still hesitant about going head to head with Percy. You didn’t want to disappoint them, though, not wanting to seem scared or weak.
“Okay, fine." Your siblings chatter excitedly, Alabaster smiling proudly as he pats your shoulder.
“Atticus!” Alabaster shouts, interrupting whatever your brother was saying to the wood nymphs.
“Yeaah?”
“Come over here.” Alabaster chuckles as Atticus's shoulders slump. He looks at the girls he was talking to, smiling at them before dismissing himself.
“What is it? I was on a roll,” he says, playfully annoyed.
“They’re sending me out as bait,” you say dramatically as you frown. Atticus furrows his eyebrows,
“Uh, what?” You laugh at his reaction, Alabaster side-eyeing you with a smile on his own face.
“What she means is she’s going to take down Percy, and we’re gonna handle the guys around the flag. James, Ernest, and I are gonna shadow travel as far as we can, which is maybe a little before their last line of defense, okay? You, Lou Ellen, Sage, and Alice are gonna deal with the Apollo kids,” he says, the 7 of you listening attentively. You shift on your feet; head cocked to the side as you raise your hand.
“Yes?”
“If you guys can shadow travel closer to the flag, why don’t you guys end the game?”
“Because it’ll piss Clarisse off even more if it's you,” James smirks, and your jaw drops,
“Oh, now, you’re really throwing me into the line of fire, huh?” Your face is straight as your siblings laugh, and you cross your arms over your chest. “I don’t know why you guys are laughing. I don’t find this very funny,” you retort, looking away to hide your smile. You couldn’t deny that you wanted to see Clarisse’s reaction when she realizes it was you who got the flag.
“When you have the flag, and it’s time to run back to the pond, you have to become ethereal,” Alabaster says, and you blink,
“What?! I just learned how to do that! And I did it at night,” you say, a little panicked. “I don’t know if I can hold it for long and-”
“You’ll do it,” Alabaster cuts you off, and you take a step back as Ambrose whines in displeasure. He definitely wasn’t giving you a choice, and it bothered you. You were grateful for his belief in you, but you really hated how nonchalant he was, considering you could get hurt. “Ready?” He asks the rest of the group, moving on from your concern and your jaw clenches. You feel unprepared, but it seems like it didn’t matter, so you didn’t bother saying anything else.
“Whatever,” you mumble, and you walk past your siblings, your familiar trotting close behind you. Before you disappear in the trees, you hear Atticus say something about not being sure if you should go out there alone before Alabaster shuts him down.
It didn’t take you long to arrive near the pond. Dodging the twigs and leaves on the forest ground, you get as close as you can, hiding behind a tree. You cautiously peek over the side to see if Percy was by the pond as he usually was and to your surprised, the pond is unguarded. You consider making a run for it but something about this felt too easy. Why wouldn't he be at the pond? A high-pitched whine comes from Ambrose’s lips, snapping you out of your thoughts and you quietly shush him, not wanting to get caught.
“Looking for me?” A familiar voice says, and you turn around fast finding Percy a few feet from you, his sword up and ready. The Percy you were met with in the past week or so always had this friendly glint to him. But right now, his eyes were clouded with determination. You feel your heart beating hard in your chest, but you maintain a pretty good poker face as you pull the dagger that’s strapped to your thigh in one motion.
You were by no means a strong sword fighter. Like everyone else, you attended a few classes initially, but it didn’t take you long to realize it wasn’t your domain. It didn’t come as natural for you as the other campers, and you hated when you weren’t good at something right away. After many defeats, you gave up, deciding you’ll excel in your magic so you can depend on it instead.
Your strategy was to go head to head with Percy with your abilities, not like this. Before you could adjust your plan, Percy makes the first move, lunging toward you. His movements were fast and strong, and you were struggling to keep up from the start. You grunt as you manage to defend his attacks, not confident enough to go for a hit because you weren’t sure of your timing. You had to think fast. There was no way you'd be able to win in this sword fight. So you did the last thing he'd expect, you ran away.
"Hey!" Percy calls after you, and you can hear the confusion in his voice. He looks around, not sure if this was some way to distract him or if you really gave up on the fight.
You turn around when you’re about 10 feet from him and you quickly shove your dagger into its casing. Electric green orbs form at the palms of your hands, and you swallow as concentrate on the tug in your gut. Your eyes meet Percy’s, the other now understanding what you were doing once he sees you form the orbs in your hands. He smiles, accepting the challenge as he caps his sword before shoving it in his pocket. His fingers spread out, his arm extended on his sides. He takes a deep breath as he channels his energy, and before you could send out your first attack, you see the water from the pond behind him rising in a thick controlled stream.
As he sends the stream right to you, you felt like everything went in slow motion. Your pulse is loud in your ears, and you focus on your energy, grunting loudly as you send out a thick green beam right at his water. You squint your eyes as you feel droplets splashing on your face from where your magic met his stream. There is a loud hissing in the air as the intense heat from your energy evaporates the water on impact. You’re out of breath by the time Percy retreats, his eyes darkening as he formulates another plan to attack.
Not letting him muster something stronger than what he did before, you begin throwing energy orbs at his feet rapidly, watching the heat burn the grass as Percy jumps back every time.
You had a new plan now, and as ridiculous as it sounded, a part of it was to get him in the pond. Most people would want to get him away from the water, but that would be too easy of a solution, and he’d be expecting that strategy. You had decided that you had to use his powers against him. Just as you planned, Percy eventually jumps into the water with a cocky smirk and you bite your lip. Don’t mess this up.
You close your eyes, feeling a tug in your core as you imagine yourself teleporting behind Percy. When you open them, you’re met with the back of his head, and before he can look around for you, you kick him behind the knees hard. He groans, falling forward into the water.
"Sorry!" You mumble as you jump out of the pond. The water begins to rise around him, and with the most confident voice you can muster, you shout,
“Incantare: Conglacio!" Your arms spread up in front of you, toward the pond. Almost immediately, the water that was risen suddenly becomes frozen solid around Percy. He grunts as he tries to move, quickly realizing that he was trapped in the ice from the knee down. You weren't sure of the extent of Percy's control over water, and you take into consideration that he may be able to change the temperature of it, but you don't wait to find out.
You speed past the pond, Ambrose racing after you, and he barks loudly. Not wanting to make the mistake of ignoring his warnings, you look up and you see campers from the Apollo cabin settled on the branches already pulling back their arrows.
“Where are they?” You mutter, hearing the whooshing noise of the bows being released. Anger and annoyance swirl in your chest at your sibling's late timing. You were already on edge about this whole plan. Now that you’ve taken down one of your big hurdles, you were determined to finish this game, not wanting to feel like a fool for trying if you failed.
Your orbs glow green with the returning of your aura, and you shout angrily as you abruptly stop running. In one quick motion, you extend your arms beside you with clenched fists, blasting a veil of your energy like a force field. The force sends their arrows in the opposite direction and manages to knock a few Apollo campers off the trees. You didn’t knock all of them, but it bought you enough time to run as they tried to regain their balance. Halfway through, you hear shouting and groaning as your siblings take down the rest and bind their arms behind their backs with magic.
You run past the Apollo cabin's defense, and soon, you arrive where the flag is. James and Ernest entertain the two disarmed Athena campers that were guiding the flag, fighting them with their hands while Alabaster tied up a couple of other campers in the trees nearby.
“Grab her!” One of the Athena campers yells, his partner lunging toward you without hesitation. You manage to dodge his attempt, the other grunting as he falls from the force that didn't meet your body.
The moment you were close enough to snatch the flag out of the ground and you hear your brothers cheering you on as you sprint back. Your mind races, not sure when you should attempt to become ethereal, and you begin to worry if you’ll even transform at all. Soon, you're greeted with your answer as you catch sight of Mark, one of Clarisse’s brothers, sprinting toward you, and you curse under your breath. Mark will take the flag from you and run back with it himself and you couldn't just let him claim you win. It was much earlier than you wanted, but there was no other choice.
You let out a rough breath, and you focus hard, recalling what you felt the night you transformed for the first time. A gradual tingle becomes more intense as it starts from your fingertips and from the tips of your toes. The sensation creeps up your arms and legs until it meets together in your stomach and as your core vibrates, you smile, knowing you’ve succeeded.
Your siblings shout at you excitedly from the sidelines, the moment you transform, laughing and taunting Mark while he makes useless attempts to grab you. You focus hard to maintain the vibrating in your core as you approach the river, afraid that you will lose your hold. As you get closer to the pond, you lock eyes with Annabeth as she, Percy, and a few others are waiting for your arrival.
If you weren't ethereal, she would have tackled you straight to the ground no problem, but as expected, she ran right through you. The other campers attempt to catch you after Percy sends out a thick slash of water that would have grabbed you by the waist and up in the air.
“What?! How are you doing that?!” Annabeth shouts, and you don’t say anything as finally get to the other side of the pond and you stab the flag in the ground. Your muscles and chest burn, and you double over, hands on your knees to catch your breath. The satyrs blow the horn and at the sound of it, echoing through the forest, signally your triumph, you manage a ragged laugh.
The distant cheers of your siblings become louder as they appear from the trees, running to you. The energy in your core disperses as you turn back to normal, but you don't have much time to recover. The moment your brothers approach you, you feel yourself being picked up and tossed in the air.
“Guys! Please,” you choke through your laughs, squealing when they throw you a little too high for your liking. You look over to your right, seeing Percy smiling, silently congratulating you as Annabeth was pink with anger.
As your brothers put you down, you notice Malcolm showing up a few seconds late with your team’s flag in his hand. Behind him, Clarisse stomps towards you with a few of her friends following beside her. You had to admit, it was kind of satisfying being the one to get the flag, but if looks could kill, you’d be dead.
“Uh oh,” you mumble as she approaches you, your siblings huddling close beside you protectively, and even Ambrose stands in front of you, growling deeply.
“You messed up the game!” She accuses, and your head jerks back,
“Are you joking? I won the game. Mark was barely halfway by the time I was running here.”
“It doesn’t matter! He would have made it.”
“He really wouldn’t have,” James points out, and Clarisse snaps her attention to him.
“Either way, you guys were supposed to stay on the north side of the forest! You freaks have no place in games like this, anyways.”
“Bold of you to say considering we won the game for you,” you say through a clenched jaw, your eyes glowing as you feel your anger stirring in your chest. You hated when you and your siblings were outed in the camp. Being called freaks or avoided because people deemed you guys as too dangerous without giving you chance, angered you the most. It just wasn't fair.
You laugh, not from amusement, but from disbelief. At this point, you didn’t care, you were at a high after your win, and if Clarisse wanted to fight about it, you were up for it. “Is your pride that wounded, Clarisse? Maybe you aren’t as good as you think you are,” you walk up to her, ignoring Atticus's hesitant calling of your name.
The way Clarisse’s eyes darken failed to intimidate you in your furious state. You guys were practically nose to nose, and in the reflection of her eyes, you can see your aura illuminate wildly around. As Clarisse draws her sword, you smirk, ready to blast her into the trees the moment she decided to move.
“Girls,” Chiron’s voice booms through the silence as he walks through the trees, and the both of you look over. He doesn’t say anything else, the tone of his voice being enough of a warning.
Atticus gently pulls on your arm, and you unwillingly back down. Clarisse scoffs, and she pushes past you hard causing you to stumble back. Atticus catches you from behind, letting you regain your balance and you rub your shoulder, looking back to watch her storming through the forest.
“You did well, Y/n,” Chiron praises, and you smile at him before he goes off to announce the winning of your team. Everyone except for the Ares Campers and the opposite team cheers loudly, excited to have fewer chores after a streak of losing. Soon the team crowds around you, and your siblings start telling a dramatic interpretation of what you did forcing you to chime in here and there as some of the things they described were a little off from the truth. You smile, listening to their chattering, and eventually, you fall behind the crowd as they begin talking about something else. Suddenly, a hand rests on your shoulder, and you look beside you, Alabaster with a proud look on his face.
“I told you you’d do it,” he says teasingly.
“Yeah, yeah.” You wave your hand, lightly nudging his hand off your shoulder. The last thing you wanted was for him to start his ‘I told you so’ speech. “I get it, you believe in me, and whatever,” you joke, and Alabaster laughs,
“I’m serious, Y/n. You’re-”
“More powerful than you think. I know.” You finish his sentence as you shift on your feet. “I guess you’re right,” you admit, mumbling under your breath.
“What was that?” He asks as he leans closer as if he didn’t hear you. You nudge his shoulder and scoff,
“If you missed what I said, then too bad!” You declare as you walk ahead of him. You hear his laughter, and he decides to let it go as he returns to walk with your brothers, Ambrose happily trotting behind him.
“Y/n!” At the call of your name, you turn around, Percy jogging over to you. You giggle, amused at how sweet he looked after being able to intimidate you during the game. “I can’t believe you apologized after kicking me."
“I felt bad,” you admit sheepishly, making him laugh. “How did you get out of the ice?” You ask, playing with the hem of your shorts. He hums,
“It took me a while to figure it out, but apparently I can change the temperature of the water,” he explains, and you nod.
“Yeah, I figured you might be able to. I won’t be using that again,” you say playfully, and Percy smiles.
“What you did was really cool,” he compliments, and you feel your cheeks warm up. Out of all the praise that you’ve heard just now, Percy’s made you feel different. “I have to look out for you now,” he nudges you.
“Yeah, you better watch out, Jackson. I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve,” you warn him, and you take in how he gleams at your banter, making you smile even more.
“I’m looking forward to it. I’m just happy that you can’t trap me in my own element; that would have been embarrassing.”
“I’m kind of bummed about that. It would have been funny if I did, though," you tease and Percy scoffs playfully.
“Y/n!” Alabaster calls on you and the other waves for you to come to him. “You have to rest,” he says shortly. You couldn’t read the expression on his face, but he didn’t look too pleased. You frown and nod, disappointed that your conversation was cut short with Percy.
“I’ll see you later,” you smile softly, and Percy nods.
“Yeah, same,” he says, returning the smile before you turn around to join your siblings back to the cabin.

Azriel made his way over to one of the tall tables to better watch Elain’s speech. Setting her purse and glass of whiskey down, he clapped loudly at her introduction.
As she walked over to the podium, he couldn’t help but admire how beautiful she was. Her cheeks were tinged a rose color, likely from her nerves. The slit of her dress parted as she strolled. But it was more than that—it was the regal way she held herself as she began speaking. Her eyes scanned the room but landed on him a few times and stayed there. Her voice echoed around them, confident.
“Leadership is defined as ‘the art of motivating a group of people to act toward achieving a common goal.’ True leadership is something you earn by how you interact with your peers. Your subordinates. Anyone can call themselves a leader, but it takes a special individual to develop leadership with their comrades. To make them want to follow your direction towards a common goal.
Now, you may be wondering why I am up here, spitting nonsense about leadership…”
A few chuckles sounded throughout the room.
“It is because leadership is the quality I think of when I think of Doctor Thesan Dawn. He is an educator, showing his residents rather than telling them what to do. He takes pride in watching others succeed around him and he offers a helping hand when things don’t go exactly as planned.”
He stood entrapped by her words, by the assuredness she displayed. Pride swelled in his chest as he watched her command the room. He knew how nervous she was, but nothing in her posture indicated she was anything less than poised—a queen without a throne. Az was so focused on her he hadn’t realized somebody had come to stand next to him until they spoke.
“So,” Elias began, “how do you two know each other?” His eyes were trained on Elain like an award-winning prize.
The rage that had simmered in his blood from the conversation earlier returned full-throttle. Just the sound of his voice made the demons he so desperately tried to leash want to erupt in an explosion of darkness and shadows. He didn’t need to look at Elias to know how he viewed Elain.
It pissed Azriel off that he spoke of her like an object, but he knew how to play this—that Elias was wanting some sort of reaction. He refused to give it to him, to let Elain become a pawn in his games. He ran his tongue over his teeth in an effort to settle himself. “We’re old friends,” he finally answered. It seemed like the safest option.
Elias clasped his hands behind his back, his suit jacket pulling taut. “And you’re not together?”
His body stiffened at the direction of the conversation, but he didn’t answer right away, wanting to watch Elain finish her speech.
“It is with great honor, to present the Chief of Surgery of the Year award to Doctor Thesan Dawn.”
The crowd erupted in cheers and applause as the surgeon walked up onto the stage, pulling Elain into a hug as he took the award from her. The way the two of them spoke to each other, he could tell how fond she was of her advisor.
The dark male approached the podium. “Wow,” he began, setting the award down. “I first off want to thank Doctor Archeron for that wonderful introduction. I am truly blessed to have such an incredible surgical resident on my team and I hope to one day have her as my attending physician…” he trailed off, looking at the female standing off to the side of the stage.
Azriel watched as Elain covered her mouth in surprise. Clearly, that wasn’t something she was expecting. Gods he was so proud of her—he just wished he could enjoy it without this arrogant piece of shit standing next to him. “What exactly do you want, Elias?” he demanded, not bothering to even look over at him.
Elias cleared his throat and saw him readjust his tie from the corner of his eye. “So, I can take a crack at her?”
The question caught him so off guard that he ended up snorting, trying to rein in his laugh. He knew the other CEO was lacking in some areas, but he didn’t realize he was flat-out delusional. When he glanced over at him and saw the serious face, he couldn’t help but state, “Shit, are you seriously asking me this?”
The man simply shrugged. “Well, if you’re not hitting it, somebody may as well.”
Az crossed his arms to control his shaking fists and let out a heavy breath. Don’t start a fight. Don’t start a fight. He repeated the mantra in his head until his breathing slowed. “In case she didn’t make it clear earlier,” he started, voice dripped with violence, “she’s not interested.”
Elias raised a brow, turning his head to look at him. “She’s not interested, or you don’t want her to be?” He cocked his head to the side. “It bothers you, doesn’t it? That I want to pursue her. Tell me, is she the type to call out your name when she climaxes?”
That made him turn fully, blood boiling. His fingers twitched, whether that was to curl them into a fist and physically beat him until he was a bloodied mess, or to wrap his hands around the cold handle of his Glock and end him here and now, he didn’t know.
When he didn’t respond, that goddamn smirk graced his foul mouth. “Is this what it feels like? To bring the almighty Azriel Knight to his knees…” Wicked delight danced in his dark eyes.
“Choose your next words wisely, Elias,” Az growled. “They may be your last.”
He sneered. “Should I tell her who exactly you are? What you’ve done—"
“She knows everything about me,” he responded without hesitation.
Elias couldn’t mask his surprise fast enough.
Az took a step closer, letting the deadly monster he hid behind the business mask peek its way through. The other man, to his credit, didn’t back down from the predator that faced him—that could end his life and wouldn’t bat an eye. “Let me give you a piece of advice, Elias. First off, take a hint when a woman is not interested. Pursuing her when it’s clear she doesn’t want it, won’t make you attractive, it makes you pathetic.” He took satisfaction in watching those dark eyes flare at the insult. “My next piece of advice…” Az leaned forward to whisper in the other man’s ear, “don’t try to threaten something far deadlier than you could ever hope to be unless your wish is to end up at the bottom of the Sidra River.” He straightened the lapel of Elias’ suit—a lover’s touch to anyone watching. “Stay away from her.”
He didn’t bother to tell him to leave; his gaze returned towards the stage effectively dismissing the other CEO. His attention snagged on Elain and found her studying him—emotions he couldn’t decipher from his distance danced in her brown eyes.
She tore her gaze from his, watching as Elias walked away. When she glanced back at him, her eyes narrowed as if asking him what that was all about.
Not wanting to ruin her evening, he simply shook his head, refocusing on the speech that was finishing up.
After a final round of applause, Elain made her way down the stage and over to him.
There was no stopping the beaming smile on his face as she approached. “Hey,” he murmured.
Her eyes softened, the golden hues of her irises looking particularly prominent in this lighting. “Hey,” she replied quietly. “How’d I do?” Her nerves were still present even now if the way her hands slid across her abdomen were any indication.
The corner of his mouth quirked up. “You were amazing—had the entire room eating out of the palm of your hands.”
A perfectly groomed brow rose. “Really? Because it seemed like you and Elias were in your own intense conversation… You want to tell me what that was about?”
He gently gripped her chin, holding her gaze. Az had promised no more lies, and although he knew she wouldn’t like what he was about to say, he knew she deserved to know the truth. Clearing his throat, he told her, “Elias has shown a particular interest in you and wants to pursue you.”
Her eyes widened, fearfully.
It made his heart clench for her. “Hey,” he leaned closer to her. “I’ve told him to leave you alone. If he doesn’t listen, I will handle it.”
“Why do I get the feeling that you ‘handling it’ will only make things worse?” she asked, voice hushed. Worry replaced the fear in her eyes—he hated seeing either of those looks on her face. “Please, no violence.”
His mouth parted at her words—the pleading within her doe-eyes. He knew he couldn’t say no to her, not with that face. But it was when she put her hand on his wrist and slid his palm over her cheek, he finally relented, “Fine, no violence.”
She breathed out a sigh of relief and stepped further into his embrace, wrapping her arms around his waist.
His heart pounded in his chest, trying to punch its way out of his ribcage. He swore she probably could hear it, but at that moment, he didn’t care. With her in his arms, it’s like the world around them vanished and it was only them.
Only her.
He tucked her closer, feeling her relax against him. Gods, he’d give anything to be able to hold her like this anytime he wanted.
Elain pulled back, smiling brightly—it made her radiant. He wished he could capture the image of her right then and there. Something he could bring out and look at in his darkest days to remember what it felt like to step into the light.
Her name was called and they turned to see her advisor waving her over.
“Can you excuse me for just a second?”
His lips turned up. “Go,” he nodded in the direction of said advisor.
She gave his hand a quick squeeze. “I’ll be right back.”
When she let go, Az felt his heart go with her.
~~~~~
Elain walked over to Thesan, her heart beating against the front of her chest. She could hear the blood pumping through her ears and she wanted nothing more than to turn around and return to the comfort of Azriel’s arms.
But she didn’t. So, she walked along with her advisor towards a small group of people.
“I wanted you to meet the new head donor for the surgical department. It’s exactly the funding we needed to expand our residential program,” Thesan explained, his enthusiasm clear in his voice.
“That is so exciting! I know how much you’ve wanted to have more residents within the hospital.” She couldn’t help but smile at the joy on his face. He had always wanted to expand their residency program, but programs cost money and it’s not something that a hospital just has lying around.
He placed a hand on her shoulder. “This will also be a great opportunity for you, should you take that attending physician’s position once your residency is complete.”
“You really meant that?” she asked, still believing she had dreamt that entire announcement on stage.
Thesan snorted. “Of course, Elain. You are not just a skilled surgeon, but an excellent doctor. You build rapport with your patients, something that is not always bestowed with other doctors. We would be honored to have you as one of our attending’s.”
She smiled up at her advisor, a male she’s grown to cherish over the last few years. “It would be an honor to work under you, Thesan. I am truly thankful for the opportunity.”
He gave her shoulder a quick squeeze, before releasing her. “Wonderful! Now,” he began as they reached the group, “please let me introduce you to our head donor—”
But Elain froze when they entered the circle of individuals, eyes finding the new donor immediately. “Elias,” she muttered. The blood drained from her face; her skin went cold.
“Doctor Archeron! So lovely to see you again.”
She felt Thesan look between the two of them. “You two know each other?”
Her cottonmouth prevented her from speaking, but Elias answered for her.
“We met earlier this evening.” His dark eyes watched her closely like he was looking for some specific reaction. As if daring her to mouth off as she had earlier in front of her employer. He knew she wouldn’t.
She knew he knew she wouldn’t.
Finally mustering up the ability to speak, she straightened her shoulders and said, “Can you give us a minute?”
Without letting him answer, she led Thesan and the Medical Director away from the group.
“Elain,” her advisor began, “what’s wrong?”
“We can’t let him donate,” she blurted, then winced. That did not sound at all what she meant.
“What are you talking about?” the Medical Director hissed. “He’s willing to give $1.5 million to your surgical department.”
“And what does he want in return?” Elain snapped.
The director blinked. “He will have a seat on the board—”
“To make decisions about the department. Exactly. Listen, I just have a bad feeling about him. He’s got this shady vibe and I don’t trust him.”
That made Thesan’s face glower. “What do you mean by that?”
She sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of her nose. She really didn’t want to explain why she knew Elias was bad news, so she said instead, “You told me to trust my instinct, to go with my gut. Well, my gut is telling me this is a bad idea.”
“We can’t just say no to this kind of money, Doctor Archeron. We can set some ground rules if you’re uncomfortable with the man, but—”
“But it won’t prevent anything. I know how these types of men work. They’re persistent in getting what they want.” She could see the hesitancy in their faces. Knew that even with her concerns, they wouldn’t be able to pass up an opportunity like this. Not for the amount that Elias’ was willing to donate. “What if I could get those funds from somewhere else?” she blurted, unsure of where her mouth was taking her.
“Elias Hewn owns half of the largest merger in the city,” the director asserted, her tone of voice put Elain’s skin on edge.
“Yes, and I came with the other half of that merger on my arm,” she argued.
Thesan’s dark brows became lost in his hairline. “Azriel Knight is here?” He looked around the room, searching for the multi-millionaire. “Wait,” his head snapped back to his resident. “Is this the same Azriel that came barging into the hospital all those weeks ago?”
She hesitated. “Uh, yes. He and I are on better terms.” It was mostly true if the ache that was still burning in her loins was anything to go on. She shifted uncomfortably on her feet. “Just let me talk to him before we make any agreements with Elias.”
Elain walked away before either of them could second guess her decision.
Before she could second guess her decision.
Azriel watched her approach, his frown apparent from his drawn lips. “What’s wrong?” he asked as soon as she was in earshot.
Clearly, she wasn’t good at hiding her expressions. She snatched her glass of whiskey still sitting on the table and shot the rest back.
“Jesus! Easy killer,” he muttered, taking her now empty glass from her hand and gave her a hard look. He knew as well as she did that that alcohol was going straight to her bloodstream.
She’d be lucky if she could walk a straight line when they finally got home.
“Elain, you’re as white as a sheet. Tell me what’s going on.”
“Have you ever thought about investing in the medical field?” she blurted. At his raised eyebrows, she internally cursed at herself. Shit, she was bad at this.
“I’ve never really considered it, but I’m not opposed to it, why?”
Gods, was she really about to ask this male for $1.5 million? This was beginning to feel like prostitution—just without the sex, she assured herself. She was surely going to hell for this. Steeling her nerves, she said, “Elias is trying to become the head donor for the surgical department.”
Ire lit his eyes, the golden orbs darkening with deadly precision. “What does it give him should he get it?” he practically growled. His lean body lined with tension; a cobra snake ready to strike.
“It would get him a seat on the board—to make decisions about the surgical department, and about me should I be presented in front of the board for some reason. I believe his intentions aren’t genuine.”
“Oh, I know they’re not genuine. It’s a ploy to get closer to you.” He ran a hand through his hair in frustration. “Fuck, I think I set him off with our earlier conversation.”
Elain wrangled her hands in nervousness, her stomach doing somersaults as she waited for him to finally make the connection of why she brought this up. She couldn’t even bear to look at him.
“You want me to take his place,” he finally said after a few moments of silence.
She dipped her head in a nod, unable to look at him.
“How much is he donating, Elain?”
“$1.5 million,” she whispered. When he didn’t respond immediately, she finally grew enough courage to look at his face.
His mouth had popped open, but his eyes searched her face like he was desperately trying to figure something out.
She caved. “I’m sorry. Please—uh, please forget I even brought this up. I’ll just handle whatever he does. I’m sorry.” In her desperate attempt to flee, she nearly tripped over her own two feet, but Azriel caught her by the waist, keeping her steady.
“Hey, stop running,” he murmured, bringing her closer so he could cup her cheek. “I’m not concerned about the money, Elain. I’m concerned that by doing this, I’m getting that board seat which will give me some power over you. I don’t want to blur any lines between us—God knows we’ve already got enough with our history.” He sighed, shaking his head. “I just—” his eyes glanced over his shoulder. “Fuck, he’s walking towards us.” Snatching her purse off the table, he handed it to her and pulled her toward the small open floor area where a few couples were dancing. “Dance with me?”
Elain took his hand and let him tug her into a slow sway, moving them further onto the dance floor away from Elias.
Azriel twirled them a few times, getting them into the rhythm of the song that came on.
It only took them a few words to realize what song they were listening to.
I’m going under and this time I fear there’s no one to save me.
This all or nothing really got a way of driving me crazy.
They seemed to look at each other then, their eyes holding as the song played around them.
I need somebody to heal.
Somebody to know.
Somebody to have.
Somebody to hold.
The green in his hazel irises shined brightly—she had forgotten he had green in his eyes. She hadn’t gotten close enough to focus on how they swirled like a kaleidoscope of colors.
Now the day bleeds.
Into nightfall.
And you’re not here.
To get me through it all.
His brain finally seemed to catch up and he murmured, “I just want you to be sure you want me in that kind of a position before we do this.”
She felt his warm breath against her skin—it sent shivers down her spine. “I trust you, Azriel,” she breathed. “I know you would never agree to anything that you did not fully believe was the right choice.”
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.
The tension from earlier seemed to evaporate from his body, his hand relaxing in hers.
From this angle, Elain could study the sharp lines of his toned shoulders. The elegant curve where they attached to his neck. Her fingers moved up farther, brushing against the skin of his throat.
He swallowed hard; his hand slid from her hip to splay across her lower back.
She knew why he did it, but still, she asked, “Is he still watching?” Her dress floated around them as they spun.
And I tend to close my eyes when it hurts sometimes.
I fall into your arms.
I’ll be safe in your sound ‘til I come back around.
“Yes,” he replied gruffly.
On the next turn, Elain took a chance and glanced over to where Elias stood, his eyes fixed on them. Her stomach churned at the way he watched them—like a bloodhound. She fixed her gaze back on Azriel’s face, mouth moving before her brain caught up to the words. “Kiss me.”
Azriel stumbled—actually stumbled at her words, his jaw popping open in utter shock. “Wha—what?” he stuttered, trying to recover their dancing as the ending lyrics sounded through the air.
I let my guard down.
And then you pulled the rug.
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.
Her heart strained at the way he looked at her—at the hope that he tried so hard to hide but couldn’t mask. Hating that she was asking for all the wrong reasons, she explained, “He’s looking at us like we’re a meal he’s about to devour. Get him off my back.”
Azriel continued to move them as the next song came on. “I already told him we were just friends,” he admitted, shamefully.
She ducked her head, trying to catch his eye. “I don’t care. As long as he questions whether or not we’re together may be enough to get him to hesitate on pursuing me.” Elain could see the rejection on the tip of his tongue. “Please, Azriel,” she pleaded, knowing it was all it would take to break his grip on himself.
He slowed them to a stop in the middle of the floor, ignoring how other dancers huffed around them as they swerved out of the way. He released her hand, using it to cup the side of her face, his other tugging her closer at her lower back.
Her skin set on fire at his touch—heart thumping erratically as he leaned in ever so slowly and pressed his lips softly to hers. Electricity jolted through her body at the gentlest brush of his lips and her eyes fluttered closed.
The kiss reminded her of innocence, like a field of wildflowers on a fresh spring morning. It was the gentle cradle of a baby, the feeling of your first love.
And it wasn’t enough—not nearly enough for anyone to be convinced that they were anything but friends.
When he began to pull away, her hand slid from his shoulder to clutch him around the backside of his neck, holding him in place. Her fingers threaded through the hair at his nape.
With their lips barely a breath apart, she whispered, “Kiss me like you mean it.”
Any and all control within him snapped at her words. He took her face in both of his hands and kissed her fiercely. There was nothing gentle in this kiss. Gone were the thoughts of spring and flowers. In replacement was burning desire—hot as the open flame of a wildfire. The kiss was a claiming, his tongue pried open her lips and dominated her own.
Elain melted, letting out a sound that was a cross between a whine and a moan from the back of her throat. Her hand clutched the lapel of his suit jacket and she felt a twinge between her legs. She was thankful when his arm wrapped tighter around her waist holding her up as her knees buckled.
Everything around them faded at the moment like they were the only two people in the world. Her skin flushed from her head down to the tips of her toes. She hadn’t been kissed like this before, not even when they were together in high school.
This was a kiss from the predator in front of her.
And gods dammit did she love every second of it.
Azriel only pulled away to catch his breath, her own chest heaving. He was close enough that she could still feel the heat of his body, could feel every hard muscle that was pressed into her soft curves.
She blinked, breathing heavily, and looked up to find his eyes black, the pupil nearly swallowing every bit of hazel color.
His chest brushed against hers as they stood and stared at each other for who knows how long. Seeming to regain control of himself, he released her and stepped back, thumb coming up to brush at his bottom lip.
Her body went cold without him near and it took her a moment for her mind to catch up with the rest of her. She cleared her throat, but even that couldn’t stop the rasp of her voice. “We should go speak with them about the donation,” she indicated to the group of board members and her advisor, who thank god, didn’t seem to have noticed the show they just put on.
He swept his hand out in a motion for her to lead the way.
As they made their way across the room, she felt Azriel keep close to her and she realized why—Elias was standing on the edge of the dancing, still watching them. Even from the distance, she could read the surprise as clear as day on his face.
The surprise, and the fury.
At least he bought the kiss.
Ignoring how that spot between her legs throbbed incessantly, Elain cleared her throat, getting the attention of the group. “Hello everyone,” her voice was a cracked whisper and she had to clear it again. “This is Azriel Knight of Knight Securities,” she indicated to the male at her side. “Azriel, this is my Advisor, Doctor Thesan Dawn, and the board of directors for the hospital. And this,” she indicated to her other side, “is the hospital Medical Director, Doctor Margret Thatcher.”
Azriel shook hands with a few select people. “It’s nice to meet you all. Elain tells me you’re looking for a lead donor for the surgical department?”
A few of the board members glanced at each other, puzzled looks on their faces.
“I’m sorry, but I thought we had already found a lead donor with Elias Hewn?” the member asked Margret.
“We did until we learned that Doctor Archeron was working to line up a donation from the other half of that business merger. Though we haven’t agreed to terms with either.” She gave a pointed look in Elain’s direction.
Azriel cut in, sensing the tension between her and the director. “Hewn Technologies is still rocky from the passing of their previous CEO. I’ve been working closely through our merger to assist them, but their foundations are weak.”
“Excuse me?” a voice snapped and they turned to see a very pissed-off-looking Elias storming over to them. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” he snarled in Azriel’s direction.
Azriel simply slid his hands into his pockets, not in the least intimidated by the man in front of him.
Elain, however, saw that look in his eyes and took a small step towards Azriel’s side.
“He also lacks in manners clearly. Elias, that’s not how you speak to others in company,” he reprimanded.
The ire rolled off the other man in waves, but before he could retort, Azriel turned his attention back to the board of directors and said, “I’ll double the initial donation.”
“Azriel,” she blurted, eyes widening. Double the amount? “That’s 3 million dollars.”
“You son of a—”
“Language,” he snapped. Turning his attention back to the collection of people who watched the little show in disbelief, he asked, “Well, do we have an agreement?”
Margret examined the two males, but when her eyes landed on her, she fidgeted under the scrutiny. She knew what the director was trying to determine—how her and Azriel’s relationship could affect the hospital.
Elias, however, came to his own conclusion. “They’re sleeping together!” he shouted loud enough that others turned to look at them.
Elain’s shoulders curved inward in embarrassment.
But Azriel just laughed. “That’s a wild accusation, Elias. I’ll admit that Doctor Archeron and I have a long history—we’ve known each other since high school—but to prevent any conflicts of interest, I had planned on having my Vice President of Marketing and Operations, Aelin Galathynius take the seat on the board.”
“Galathynius?” one of the board members asked incredulously. “As in Rhoe and Evalin Galathynius’ daughter?”
He nodded. “The one and only. She’s been under my employment since she graduated from college six years ago and was promoted to VP four years later.”
Elain didn’t recognize the name, but it was apparently well-known if the looks of the board were anything to go by. She felt a presence approach her other side and she turned to find her advisor staring down at her, his face seeming to ask are you okay?
She dipped her chin in confirmation, though she knew he didn’t buy it. She was too silent, too passive. Elain would be lying if Elias’s actions tonight hadn’t made her nervous. They followed that possessive line that reminded her so much of Graysen. It was hard not to allow those fears to rise up. Turning her attention back to the conversation, she caught just the tail end.
“We thank you, Mr. Knight, for your donation and we’re excited to move forward.”
“I’ll have Aelin reach out to finalize any paperwork and to submit the donation,” Azriel stated, shaking hands again with everyone.
His brow furrowed when he glanced down at her. “You ready to go?” he asked, his voice quieter.
She nodded, unable to form actual words. Her mind was too far gone. Too many emotions threatened to choke her and she just needed some time to sort through them all. As they walked away, his hand fell to her lower back and she instantly felt a calming sensation wash over her.
With his sturdy presence next to her and his warmth and cedar and mist scent surrounding her, the tightness in her shoulders began to relax.
The moment was short-lived when a hand gripped her forearm, hard enough to bruise. Elain whirled; a small cry escaped the back of her throat as Elias tugged her a step away from Azriel.
Her heart thundered in her chest at the look on his face—the rage that set his eyes on fire. She remembered the last time a man looked at her like that; she ended up bent over a table.
Raw, crippling fear clawed it's way up her spine. “Let go,” she squeaked, her face heating at how pathetic it sounded.
“Did you think I wouldn’t figure out what you did?” he snarled, edging close to animalistic.
A body pressed against her, a scarred hand finding its way onto the bicep of the arm Elias still held, another on her hip. “Did she fucking stutter? Let her go, now.”
Azriel’s midnight voice slithered along her bones, warming her from the inside out. Even though his tone had turned glacial, she found she wasn’t afraid of it. Nothing about him scared her.
Elias loosened his grip on her arm but didn’t completely release her. “You’ll both regret this.”
Elain felt, rather than saw, two others join them on her backside—the Moonbeam twins, likely noticing the escalating tension.
At his limit, Azriel moved with lightning speed, knocking Elias’ hand from her and stepped in between them, hiding half her body from view. “Is that a threat?” he demanded; voice deadly. “Because let me tell you something, Elias. I don’t respond to threats kindly.”
Chancing a glance around the room, Elain noticed others were watching the scene unfold, curious eyes landing on the surgical resident who was up on stage not that long ago. “Azriel,” she stated calmly, placing her hand on his bicep.
Immediately his eyes found hers, assessing.
“People are staring, let’s just go,” she pleaded.
The fire inside him dimmed at her words—she could see it receding. His eyes flicked to the two males behind her, a silent conversation going on between them.
One of the twins—likely Fenrys—left to go collect the car.
His eyes fell back to hers and he took her hand from his bicep and brushed his lips to her knuckles before he laced their fingers together. “Okay,” he breathed. “Let’s go home.”
Home.
The word clanged in her head. At how right it felt to call it home with him. It was something she had imagined in so many different ways when they were dating. The quaint little house, nestled somewhere just on the edge of the city so they could have their privacy.
Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine it in a penthouse with Velaris’ wealthiest individual.
And she hadn’t dreamed it would be with Azriel in nearly ten years.
But that’s what she was picturing now—that life that she had thought was a distant dream. The realization was a bit disorienting and she crushed that hope in a vice-like grip. There were too many things that had happened tonight, too many emotions she wasn’t ready to face without some proper thought—and not with the liquor in her blood.
Not giving Elias another minute, Azriel pulled her away, keeping their hands clasped together.
Connall moved to take his place on her other side, but at the last second, he stepped away and she heard him snarl, “Stay away from her.”
The violence in his voice surprised her. He had always been the well-tempered side of the two brothers.
When he caught up to them, he winced at her pointed look. Con mouthed an apology before he turned his attention to Azriel. “Fenrys said the paparazzi is still out front.”
“Shit,” Azriel murmured, slowing their strides as he debated their options. “Connall, can you get the security on standby to help us get out?”
Her bodyguard nodded, jogging over to the front door.
Azriel cleared his throat, capturing her attention. “I’m sorry about that.”
Elain’s brow furrowed together. “About what?”
“Elias,” he answered like it was obvious.
“You have nothing to be sorry for, Azriel. It’s not your fault Elias is a raging asshole and a sexist pig.”
He huffed a laugh at that. “Still, I lost my cool in there. And for that, I apologize.”
She could see the shame on his face—hear the sincerity in his voice.
He had thought himself the bad guy when he was exactly the opposite. He had been her saving grace in those last few moments. His voice had calmed those awful memories from resurfacing, his touch warmed her icy skin.
No, he had been everything but the bad guy, and he deserved to know that truth.
Elain let her thumb brush over his, turning to face him. “He looked like my ex-fiancé just now,” she whispered, eyes downcast to their feet. “The anger in his eyes at the denial of something he wanted. I was so pissed earlier with what he did, the things he said. But just now, I uh—” she swallowed thickly. “I panicked. I’ve prided myself on not letting men get away with belittling me. Getting away with treating me like I’m a second-class citizen. But when he grabbed my arm in a bruising grip, I was back in that house. Back being held down against that table.”
She shuddered at the memory.
Azriel’s index finger hooked under her chin, tilting her gaze to meet his. “You don’t have to explain anything you’re not ready to.”
“I’m not trying to explain,” she began, her delicate fingers circled his wrist and she pulled his hand away from her chin to slide it over her cheek. “I’m trying to say thank you, Azriel. I needed you tonight—in more ways than one and you stepped up. I can’t explain how much it means to me to know I can count on you.”
“You can always count on me,” he whispered.
She wanted to kiss him again. It would’ve been so easy for her to in these heels, and she could tell he wanted to kiss her too.
But they blurred so many lines tonight already; had crossed into new territory that she had yet had time to figure out. Deeming it the safer option, she twisted her neck and kissed his palm. “Thank you for coming with me tonight.”
Azriel didn’t get a chance to respond before Connall returned.
“Fenrys has the car waiting and security is already pushing the crowd back. Now is our best chance to escape.”
He nodded, releasing her face. “Same way we entered.”
They exited the hotel lobby hand-in-hand, and as told, Elain kept her head down. The cameras flashed even at a distance, but this time, the bright lights didn’t affect her as much. Gone was the nervous anxiety and in replacement was overwhelming exhaustion. Elain just wanted to get home, take a shower to wash off the lingering effects of this evening, and climb into bed to fall into a dreamless slumber.
The shouts from the crowd were nothing but background noise and as they reached the car. Azriel opened the door to help her in, leaning down to tuck the skirts of her dress so they wouldn’t be caught in the door jam.
Once safely inside the car, her tiredness seemed to intensify and she found herself leaning her head on his shoulder and let her eyes close.
~~~~~
Elain’s eyes had drifted shut before the car made it out of the parking lot. He didn’t mind her falling asleep on him, took satisfaction that she felt safe enough to fall asleep around him. He knew it took a great deal of effort for her to trust him again, but she had opened up about her ex-fiancé.
She had yet to speak in detail about what had happened with him. He knew from Cash and Rhys what had happened, but to hear her talk about the fear she felt when Elias had grabbed her was a whole different level.
Az knew he had some anger issues, had been bred into him since he was a child. And while he normally found ways to channel that aggression, either through his job or in his extensive training routine, the moment when she told him how Elias took her back to that painful memory, there was a split second where he thought he would’ve gone back in that ballroom and killed him, consequences be dammed.
But she had frozen him in place when he made her meet his gaze—that far-off look in her eyes had chilled him to the bone. It made him realize that she didn’t need him to go in there and tear Elias apart with his bare hands.
No, she just needed his presence to comfort her until she reclaimed the reality around her. It simmered his desire to rip apart anyone who so much as looked at her wrong and it made him question what, exactly, he would do should he ever come face-to-face with her ex-fiancé.
He supposed they would cross that bridge when they got there.
The car pulled into his private garage and parked in its designated parking spot. The twins looked back, both giving him a private smile at the scene in the backseat.
“We’ll give you two a moment,” Fenrys stated before they climbed out, letting the car doors shut quietly behind them.
Az looked down at her sleeping face—gods she looked so peaceful. He brushed his lips to her forehead. “Hey,” he murmured against her skin. “We’re home.”
Those beautiful doe-eyes fluttered open. “Hmm?” she muttered in her half-sleep, half-alcohol-induced state.
He hadn’t forgotten her shooting back straight whiskey with nothing more and a single appetizer in her stomach. “We’re home,” he repeated and gently leaned her back onto her seat. “I’ll come around and grab you.”
“Kay,” she mumbled.
Climbing out, he walked around to her side, where Connall opened the door so he could lean in and unclasp her seat belt. He handed her bag to the dark-haired twin and then proceeded to lift her out of the car. “Come on, sleepy.”
Elain giggled as he set her on her feet and swayed dangerously.
All three males reacted, each grabbing at her arm, shoulder, or waist to prevent her from eating the concrete.
Az swooped down and lifted her back into his arms, hers circled his neck. “No more whiskey on an empty stomach for you,” he muttered earning chuckles from the Moonbeam twins. “Here, I’ll take her bag. You guys can go home for the evening.”
“You sure? We can help get you guys upstairs,” Connall said, relenting the purse to the hand he had cradled under her knees.
“We’re fine. I’m going to try to get her to eat something so she doesn’t wake up hungover tomorrow. She isn’t due at work until late morning, so you won’t have to pick her up till ten.” He readjusted her in his arms, her forehead falling onto his temple.
“You smell good,” she said in what clearly was an attempted whisper but most definitely wasn’t.
His cheeks darkened as the twins gave him knowing smiles. He rolled his eyes at her antics, trying to brush off the warm feeling that spread through his chest at her words. “Goodnight, and thanks again for tonight.” He meant it too—he wasn’t sure what he would’ve done if the twins hadn’t been there to crowd control or monitor the event.
“Goodnight, Mr. Knight,” they said in unison as they departed for their vehicles.
The ride in the elevator was stifling.
Elain had proceeded to nuzzle her nose into his neck in affection and it was doing some very male things to him. When he had asked her what she was doing, she simply shrugged, muttering, “You smell like home.” He looked at her then—really looked at her. The haziness of her eyes told him she likely wouldn’t remember this conversation in the morning, and he wasn’t sure if it thrilled him to hear those words, or pained him because they came from her drunken state.
Once inside the penthouse, Az set her on the counter, making sure she was stable before he knelt down and unstrapped her heels from her feet.
She groaned, toes curling in pleasure. “Much better,” she slurred.
“Stay here,” he ordered, earning a salute in confirmation. He could only chuckle as he went to his pantry and grabbed a loaf of bread and peanut butter. Quickly, he made them each a peanut butter sandwich and handed one to her. “Eat this.”
Elain devoured her sandwich—thankfully—and grabbed the jar of peanut butter as he went to get her a glass of water.
When he turned back around, he nearly dropped the glass on his kitchen floor.
With his back turned, Elain had stuck two fingers into the open jar and was currently sucking the brown residue from her digits, her cheeks hollowed from the movement.
“Jesus, fuck,” he mumbled to himself, growing increasingly tight in his dress pants. He was thankful the only lights on were the ones under his upper cabinets, giving off a romantic glow, so she couldn’t see just how hard he had become.
Her brown eyes found his from across the kitchen. “S’that for me?” she said through the sticky mess.
He had to clear his throat to speak. “Yes,” he croaked still, handing her the glass.
She downed the water as he grabbed her a towel to clean up her mess.
He smiled as he wiped at her hands and her face like she was a toddler, but watched as her eyes slowly begun to clear.
“Do you want any medicine for a hangover?” he asked cautiously.
She shook her head. “No, I think I’m okay.” Her words were far less slurred and he assumed the bread and water were gradually taking over the effects of the alcohol.
He helped her off the counter, but held onto her arm when she started to sway slightly. Grabbing her shoes from the floor, Az assisted her up the stairs and into her bedroom. “Do you want to get ready for bed?” he asked, setting her shoes down by her closet.
“I think I’m going to take a shower first. I feel like I need to wash off Elias’ sleaziness.”
Just the sound of his name made the fire reignite in his blood, but he smothered it, his concern about her wellbeing taking priority. “You sure that’s a good idea. You’re still a bit buzzed.”
Even in the dimmed lighting of her room, he could make out the redness that spread across her cheeks. “I’m fine,” she said, holding herself up to prove her point.
Not wanting to fuss, he yielded. “Okay, well I think I’m going to get in a run before I shower myself. Holler if you need anything.” He had just made it to the threshold of her bedroom door when she called out.
“Wait!”
He turned back to her, finding her blush had dipped down to her chest.
“Um, can you unzip me please?”
Fuck, she really was going to kill him. “Sure.” He moved towards her, his steps unhurried, chest constricting with the memory of her bare skin from earlier. He swept her hair off to the side and undid the clasp at the top of the dress. Slowly, he tugged the zipper down—inch by fucking inch—revealing pale skin for him to touch.
To taste.
He wasn’t sure what possessed him to do it, maybe it was that urge to take her as his or his lack of control over his body, but he curled his fingers and dragged the knuckle of his index down the center of her spine.
Elain gasped, back arching but she did not pull away. No, instead she twisted her neck to look up at him—her pupils had blown wide just from his simple touch.
Gods, the way she looked at him with those “fuck me” eyes. He had seen that look more than once tonight and it took nearly all of his willpower to not do exactly that. Don’t get him wrong, he wanted to—the hardness in his pants would have given him away—he just didn’t want to like this.
Not with her still slightly intoxicated. Not with the exhaustion that still lined his eyes. And especially not with the fear she felt with Elias just an hour before—after what she admitted to him.
The next time he took her, it would be on their terms, clearheaded, and without the weight of their past hovering over them.
So, he leaned forward and pressed a light kiss to the bare skin of her shoulder, relishing in the way she shivered. “Goodnight, Elain,” he murmured, huskily.
Her voice was like velvet brushing his soul. “Goodnight, Azriel.”
Azriel forced himself to leave, closing her bedroom door behind him, and leaned against it. He needed the clear his head from the growing desire that stood on the other side of that door. Forcing himself to move, Az went to change into workout clothes and ran the burning ache until it was a low flicker deep inside him.
Even after a three-mile run and a very cold shower, it still wasn’t enough to dull that desire for his current roommate. He knew it wasn’t a matter of if the tension would break, it was a matter of when.
