A/n: I just saw that the requester wanted an OBGYN reader and I completely glossed over that and made the reader and Emerg doctor. I will rewrite this if you hate it, I’m so sorry 😭

The morning dew rested gently on the grass, most of the world still sleeping in the early hours of the morning. That, unfortunately, was not the case of the beloved health care or emergency in Pittsburg. The rustling of sheets slowly woke Frank from his slumber and in a still sleepy haze, he threw his arm over his beautiful fiancee, trying to soak in this feeling, the next time he’ll have it is in another 15 hours. Gruelling work it was, the trauma bay in the PTMC but this is what they chose and it’s too late to change. Or well, that's what the woman tracing light patterns on his back would say.
“Frank.” she calls out, voice as sweet as honey and he wonders, how on earth could anyone give up on such a sweet thing like her. “Hm.” he grunts, already knowing what the next words are. Frank lets out a louder groan, turning himslef onto his stomach as she giggles and places a small kiss on his forehead before making her way into the bathroom, humming a tune under her breath. Frank lets out a sigh, sitting up and trying to rub the sleepiness from his eyes as he joins her in the bathroom.
He watches the younger woman for a minute, knowing what her morning routine by heart but still always admiring. “How are you always so cheery in the morning?” the questions leaves his mouth before his brain has the time to process it. His fiancee, in the midst of washing her face, stares at him through the mirror and responds, “drugs.” a dead serious look on her face as the tall, dark haired man snorts. Seeing that, she lets a small smile of her own slip.
“But seriously Frank, we are going to be late if we don’t get in the shower now.” she tells him, tugging the white t-shirt she wore to bed over her head and tying up her hair. Frank admires her for a second too long, the swell of her breasts and the way her curves looked in the lighting of the bathroom. He needed someone to pinch him before he decided that this was just another wonderful dream.
“You gonna keep staring loverboy?” (Y/n) asks, peeking her head out of the shower and frank sheds his clothes in lightning speed before joining her. The hot water feeling amazing on their skin, a last moment of relaxation before they both tense up at work again.
“Fuck-” the sentance cut off as a student running past the couple accidentally bumped into (Y/n), luckily frank caugh her before any major injuries could happen, telling her that he didn’t need his day starting off by bringing her to the hospital for a CT because she hit her head. The shorter woman just glared at frank who grinned like he found a pot of gold. The couple made their way into the hospital, seeing most of the day shift members already present and the night shift just wrapping up final details on cases before letting the day shift take over. Frank and (y/n) walked over to their lockers, already seeing samira there, waiting for her best friend.
“Damn, looks like your wife gets you for the rest of the day” Frank mutters as he takes the bag his fiancee hands him, making her way towards the other woman. “We haven’t even started for the day and you’re already stealing her from me,” Frank whines like a petulant child while both woman snicker. Samira throws her arm over the other woman’s shoulders and pulls her in, “You get her 24 hours a day Langdon, let me have her for these 15,” Samira tells him, making his frown deepen as they make their way over to Dana and Robby at the nurse’s station.
Robby looked at frank once, then again, laughing lightly at his sour expression.
“Jesus, who pissed in your coffee this morning?” He huffed out as the younger man muttered something about stealing time under his breath. Dana, being a woman and smarter than the two men who stood before her, “it’s probably because dr. mohan is hogging dr. (y/l/n), again.” she huffed out, a smile on her face as she watched the two women, thick as thieves and close as sisters. Samira was showing the other woman a patient chart, asking for some advice on what to say to the parent who wouldn’t listen or acknowledge the proper care instructions. (y/n)’s eyebrows pinched together the more she listen to samira talk about the ridiculous parent.
“They come here for our help but won’t take our advice, what are we doing here then” The younger woman rolls her eyes and crosses her arms over her chest, red painted lips curled into a disapproving frown. Samira only shook her head and muttered a small “i know” before leaving the other woman to deal with her patients.
“Morning Dana, Dr. Robby.” she greeted kindly, a smile on her face and a chai tea in one hand. Dana smiled at the young doctor before handing her a patient chart, a teen boy with an open tibia fracture in room 302. The younger woman thanked her before making her way over, her shadow for the day today being Dennis Whitaker. She quite liked the young man, he reminded her of a drowned rat but like a cute one. She had a thing for strays, Frank Langdon would and will heavily attest to that.
Opening the door, she walked in and introduced herself and Dennis.
“Hello Ryan, I’m Dr. (y/l/n) and this is Dr.Whitaker. Do you mind if he observes and helps us today?” She asks kindly, a soft smile on her face and when the boy shakes his head no, (y/n) motions for Dennis to go ahead with the examination and diagnosis, gently helping and guiding him when his tone wavered in unsureness. Ryan was a champ, the more the two doctors talked to him, the more impressive he became. They found out that he obtained the fracture from playing football, it was practice but he still took it seriously. An hour or so later, he was all wrapped up and ready to go home. Thanking both the doctors with a huge grin on his face as his mom beside him gramaced a little.
On the otherside of the ER, Frank Langdon stood still, chart in hand as he looked awestruck by his beautiful wife to be. She has to be the most gorgeous creature frank has ever laid his eyes on. The way her smile lights up a whole room needs to be studied but more so the fact that she’s so warm. Like sunshine personified. Everyone and everything finds itself drawn to her presence, like a moth drawn to a flame. Unbeknownst to him though, the two biggest gossips in the room are watching him diligently.
“He still looks at her like it’s his first time meeting her.” Pearlah says, not moving her eyesight from Frank. Princess, who stood beside her looking at a patient chart hums in response.
“Do you rember the first time they met?” Princess laughs, the memory of a slightly younger verson of Frank playing in their head. He had tried so hard to not catch feelings for the younger resident but failed miserably and everyone around them could see it. He was walking backwards while talking to her, just so he can keep looking at her face and made sure she stuck by him everyday. He was awestruck then and he was awestruck now. Not much had changed.
“Um..Dr.Langdon..?” Mel’s voice brought Frank back from whatever fantasy played in his head at the moment. He looked down at the blonde resident and sighed, aplogising for bring so distracted but the former only smiled and waved her hand, saying that it’s not a big deal. (Y/n) looked up at him from where she sat at her desk, flashing Frank a warm smile before turning her attention back to what Dennis was saying. Frank swore to every god in existence that his heart stopped but before he could say anything to anyone or even may his way over to her, the speakers started blasting.
“Trauma team to the ER. GSW incoming, female, late 20’s.” That’s all the doctors need to hear before they start preparing themselves, gowns and gloves on. Frank and (Y/n) move in sync, clearly and silently stating that they’ll be the ones to take over this case. The ambulance comes quick and on the gurney lays a blonde woman that the young doctor knows too well. Jennifer Jereau. Her best friend at one point when she was dating her co-worker.
“JJ?” the nickname falls out of her mouth before she’s able to stop it. To her, it feels like everything in the world has stopped movin. It also meant that if JJ was here then so was he. She paused for the slightest second but that didn’t go unnoticed by Frank but the years of training took over, “On my count,” she barked out, her voice authoritative and on edge, “One, two, three.” The team transferred JJ to the bed as they began to check her vitals.
“The gunshot is through and through.” She yells out as the team prepares for what’s to be done next. Pearlah administers the IV and morphine as Frank begins to work on his finacee’s former friend. Not that he know’s who she is anyways. Before she could start helping again, the doors bust open and a very worried Dennis stands there, panting as if he’d just run a marathon saying something about a federal agent and urgent care.
“Go.” Frank tells her, not looking up from JJ. (Y/n) stands there for a moment, uncertain but frank reassures her, tells her that he’s got JJ and that she will be okay. The young doctor feels slightly comforted at his words before taking off the gown and gloves, making her way towards the very recognizable team.
“Fuck- I uh, need a minute.” She tells the young student doctor as her lips curl down into a frown and an uneasiness takes over her. She feels like she’s going to be sick. Dennis looks worried and opens his mouth to say something before she shoots him a look and he walks away, mumbling something about bringing back a bottle of water. Nothing in the ED department goes unnoticed by anyone and this time, it was Robby. He watched as she took in deep shaky breaths, clearly trying to ground herself. To anyone else it may have looked like it was a hard case but to him, he knew it was something else that bothered her.
“Hey kid, you okay.” Robby’s soft voice broke (y/n) out from her train of thoughts as she looked up at the senior attending, simply nodding her head, hoping that Robby would take the hint. Spoiler alert, he didn’t. Robby crossed his arms over his chest and gave her a look, she called it the disappointed dad look. Looking up at him she rolled her eyes, knowing that she would have to explain her little breakdown.
“It’s uh, my ex. And his team, they’re here.” She told him, voice wavering a little. Today was a great day. In fact, she had a date later tonight with her hot tub, a bottle of wine but now she has to see her ex. Spencer Fucking Reid. The man who built her up only to cheat on her emotionally and then tear her down. “Fuck, kid-” Robby’s cut off by her shaking her head. The last thing she needs is Robby sending someone else with Whitaker and then this becoming the new hot gossip.
“I’ll be fine,” she tells him before looking around, “Whitaker!” She waves him over and he hands her the patient chart, the duo making their way over to the team. Emily is the first one to spot her, eyebrows furrowed and biting her bottom lip, all actions the brunette was familiar with very well. She nudges Morgan beside her who nearly drops his drink. Yeah they haven’t seen her for 6 years but damn does she look better than ever.
“(Y/n)..how have you been?” Emily was the first one to speak up, wincing a little as she did so and that did’t go unnoticed by both doctors as Whitaker immediately began to ask Emily questions before deducing that she had bruised ribs, a concussion and would need a x-ray and CT scan, just to make sure there isn’t underlying damage. She pretended to not feel the heated glare from a certain tall, lanky brunette piercing the side of her face as she gently held Hotch’s face in her hands, making sure that it wasn’t broken.
“Are you always this silent, doctor?” Spencer’s question cut the air sharply, his voice nearly suffocating her. He spat out the word doctor as if it were a slur and maybe to him, it was. The young doctor eyed him sharply, choosing to bite her tongue and not cause a scene, especially here.
Spencer Reid however, could not keep his mouth shut, even after he got the glaringly angry stare from Aaron Hotchner.
“You know, I always imagined you to be surrounded by the soft glow of a delivery room. This fluorescent nightmare suits you though. Stark, cold, and sterile…just like you.” His words cut deeply into the doctor and she pauses what she’s doing, letting Whitaker take over.
“And you haven’t changed a little. 6 damn years Doctor Reid and you’re still the man I left.” She hisses back, arms crossed against her chest and the fluorescent light catches the stone on her ring finger, Spencer’s eyes darting towards it momentarily as he scoffs.
“I’m surprised you managed to lock anyone down with your attitude.” Spencer hisses and before (Y/n) can say anything else Frank enters the room, sensing the hostile environment his eyes dart between the short doctor and the tall lanky one.
“Is everything okay?” He asks, his voice low and hesitant. To be honest, Frank didn’t give a flying damn about the other people in the room as long as his lovely fiancee was okay.
“Perfectly peachy…” She mutters, handing him the patient chart and making her way to have some cool down time. Robby caught her eye as she left, raising his eyebrow to ask if she’s okay to which she rolled her eyes. Not at him, no, at Spencer. He was a thorn in her side that she couldn’t get rid of, no matter how hard she tried.
The only place she could find dark and quiet enough was the break room. She was surprised no one was in there but grateful nonetheless. (Y/n) closed her eyes, needing to rest them for a minute before she heard the door open and close, hoping that it was someone just here to grab a quick snack. The sound of the chair being pulled out from across made her nervous and she hoped to god that it wasn’t Robby who followed her in.
“So..i heard the little spat you had.” Samira’s voice made the younger woman’s eyes snap open as she looked her best friend. She groaned, letting her head fall back. Samira patted her knee sympathetically. When (y/n) first started off at PTMC, she was matched into the OBGYN program before deciding that it wasn’t for her and switching into Trauma and since that day, her and Samira have been glued to the hip. Sisters in everything but blood or as Frank and the rest of the ER department likes to call them, work wives.
“I just don’t understand why he’d say that here, while I’m working. He doesn’t seem to realize that I’m not the same person I was 6 years ago but he still is.” She sighs, running a hand through her hair in frustration before tying it up again. Samira nods in undertsnding, also curious as to why such a hotshot profiler couldn’t be respectful to his ex at work.
(Y/n) pauses, looking at Samira and raising her eyebrow, “shouldn’t you be with patients?” Samira waves her off, telling her that Victoria was more than capable to be on her own for 15 minutes. The younger doctor nodded as they both sipped on a box of apple juice provided by Samira diligently. They sat together for 5 more minutes before Samira patted her shoulder and kissed her cheek before leaving, telling her to not lose her mindnfully. (Y/n) swatted at her best friend at that while laughing. She threw the empty apple juice box in the trash before leaving, sighing quietly.
“You disappeared for a bit.”
“Jesus fucking christ-” Frank’s laughter cut off her sentance as she swatted him on the shoulder, scolding him about scaring her. Frank stopped, looking at his baby seriously, taking her hand in his, “baby, are you okay?” Frank’s question made her fall silent, the warmth from his hand keeping her grounded. She looked up at him, mouth parted slightly, “Yeah Frankie, I’ll be okay.” She tells him yet her words fail to soothe Frank. He nods his head, kisses her forehead and tells her to kick ass in the ER before leaving to attened to his own duties.
“Hey, there you are.” Dennis exhales in relief. (Y/n) says a quick sorry and promises to make it up to him with some delicious donuts. Dennis smiles and tells her that it’s not a big deal and that the ‘scary law enforcement agents’ are all patched up and okay. She smiled brightly at him before patting his back as a thank you and made her way over to them. Out of everyone she missed Emily and Hotch the most. Emily was her Samira and Hotch her Robby.
“Hey.” Her voice was soft as she greeted Emily and Hotch, Spencer simply rolled his eyes, “Oh look, Princess here is finally over her temper tantrum and wants to be a doctor again.” All eyes snapped onto him the moment the words left his mouth.
“Jesus christ Spencer what’s your deal? It has been 6 damn years since we broke up. LET IT GO. You can’t come into MY workplace, antagonize me and then pray I don’t say anything. Because from what it looks like, you’re the only one that hasn’t moved in more than half a decade. Hot shot profiler and still can’t let go of the past. What’s next, are you going to start claiming that i haunt your nightmares or that I’m a witch who put a spell on you? MOVE ON!” Her snapping wasn’t on anyone’s list today except maybe Frank and Samira’s who passed a $20 bill to him. Robby and Dana just looked at eachother, Dana hiding her face behind an ipad but everyone could still see her shoulders shaking from laughter while Robby ran a hand down his face, trying to conceal his laughter as well. Trinity, Princess and Pearlah gossiped in Tagalog while Victora and Dennis looked like scared Victorian children seeing light.
Spencer could only look at her while scoffing. “Don’t scoff at me Spencer, leave the hospital. You’ve been treated and there’s no reason for you to stay.” She hissed out, not wanting to be disrespected any longer. Spencer looked at her for a second before he shoved his way out. If he wanted to act like a petulant child then he’ll be treated like one. Emily smiled at her and patted her arm, making a promise for them to catch up and left as well, the rest of the team following behind them.
(Y/n) sighed and made her way over to the nurses station where Dana and Robby stood watching her, a smile on Dana’s face. The younger of the three looked at them, exhaustion painting her face as clear as day as they all stared at eachother.
“No.”
“I-I didn’t even say anything.” Dana stuttered out with a smile on her face as she was met with a deadpan stare.
“You don’t have to. I can read your mind.” Dana’s smile didn’t waver and she just pulled the young doctor into a motherly side hug, kissing her forehead. She looked at Robby who looked at her, she gave him her signature ‘dad i swear i didn’t do anything wrong’ smile and he sighed for what felt like a millionth time.
“I am required to send you home, especially after an emotional outburst like that,” Robby paused, looking at her, his voice dropping into a whisper, “but since you’re my favourite resident ( daughter but he’d never admit that), you can stay. Just go take a 30.” At his words she tries not to squeal and gives Robby and overly exaggerated fist bump that he recepriocates awkwardly before heading to the break room.
“That’s quite a scene you caused there.” (Y/n) perked up at her fiance’s voice and teasing tone as he came to join her in the break room, he pulled the chair out beside her and sat down. She smiled at him and Frank took her hand in his own, letting it rest on his knee as he pushed her favourite sandwich towards her.
“I know you baby, and that means I know you haven’t eaten.” Frank tells her, going as far to unwrap the sandwich for her. One thing about Frank Langdon is that he will always take care and baby his fiancee, not because he thinks that she can’t take care of herself, no, because she works so damn hard and what type of man will he be if he doesn’t take care of her.
Unbeknownst to the couple, pair of eyes watched their interaction closely.
“How much do you want to bet she’ll be pregnant a year after marriage.” Pearlah asks Princess who shook her head.
“A year? Are you insane, it’ll be right after they get married.” Princess responded, her voice confident. Pearlah side eyed her for anminute before passing her a $50 bill, starting a whole new betting pool.

Part 3 - Best Friends
Fall - 2021
“Are you good, Bro?” Nika asked on a random Sunday in September.
“Huh?” Paige looked up from her PS2 console slightly, furrowing her brow. Unbeknownst to Paige as she rambled on Fortnite, Nika had been staring at her for the past 15 minutes, trying to come up with the words for what she was about to say with a troubled expression on her face.
“You’ve been different lately,” Nika said decidedly.
Paige, feeling further confused, paused her game and turned to her friend. “What are you talking about?”
“Last year this time you were talking to a new girl every week, going out, having a time. Now you’re like…so…chilled out. The switch up is just kinda crazy,” Nika eyed her, almost suspiciously, “I’m just saying you’re moving different now. Wondering if something is going on.”
Oh.
Paige raised her eyebrows and stared off into space.
She pondered Nika’s observation for a second. Had she been acting different? She hadn’t even noticed. Even if she mellowed out, what was the issue? She turned back to her friend and shrugged.
“I don’t know man, I just don’t need all that anymore. I’m like super content with my life and focusing on basketball right now.”
Nika nodded slowly, staring at her cautiously, “Alright well, you’d tell me if something was different right?”
“Bro, of course. Thanks for worrying though.” They smiled at each other, Paige turning back to her game and Nika turning back to scroll on her phone.
About a half an hour later, more of their friends walked in - Aaliyah, Azzi, and Aubrey. Laughing and holding smoothies, they dove into a ridiculous story of Aubrey dropping her initially purchased smoothie and having to get a second.
Azzi plopped down next to Paige on the couch, smiling and smelling like some flower Paige didn’t recognize but loved. She looks like summertime, Paige thought fondly. Azzi’s hair was thrown up in a bun and her exposed legs and arms looked extra tan from her time spent in the sun the last few months. Their bodies instinctually smushed together as more of their friends tried to squeeze on the couch and watch TV. Immediately, they were tugged into the familiar warm bubble of their friendship, the one that comes from knowing a person so well they are almost an extension of yourself, forgetting the others in the room.
Azzi tilted her green smoothie towards Paige, “Want to try?”
Paige inspected it and scrunched her nose. “Looks like a liquid salad.”
“Your fear of vegetables is concerning.”
Paige stuck her tongue out at her and Azzi gave her a toothy grin that made Paige smile back reflexively. Paige grabbed the smoothie and sipped suspiciously at first, finally deciding it was half decent after four long sips.
“Not bad. Thanks for the smoothie, Bro,” Paige kept sipping dramatically.
Azzi’s eye widened, “Hey, I didn’t buy it for you! You’re going to finish the whole thing, stupid,” she said, trying to grab the smoothie out of Paige’s hand.
Paige, who always enjoyed terrorizing Azzi when given the opportunity, lifted the smoothie up and away out of Azzi’s reach, causing them to laugh and pretend to fight over it. Paige, with the longer wingspan, couldn’t help but smile lazily as her eyes danced over Azzi’s half laughing, half annoyed face.
“You’re so annoying,” Azzi huffed, but with her lips slightly turned up, “If you’re going to finish it, at least grab me a Gatorade from the fridge or something.”
Paige shook her head and took one final sip, handing Azzi back her smoothie. “Nah, all yours. Did you eat though? I’m getting up - I can grab you something from the kitchen.” (Paige was not getting up; she did not know why she just said that).
Azzi perked up, “Oh maybe like a clementine, please? I just feel like snacking.”
Paige, not hungry, nodded and immediately got up to fetch herself and Azzi a few clementines from the fruit basket in the kitchen. Again, she did not notice Nika’s silent observation of her and Azzi, nor as she walked past and into the kitchen.
———————————————————————
After a few hours of laughs and making Tik Toks with their friends, Paige and Azzi found themselves lying on Paige’s bed alone. They both lay on their stomachs, scrolling absently on their phones, pausing every so often to show each other something funny.
Paige found herself getting distracted by Azzi’s shoulder pressing into her tricep, the exposed skin of her arm looking smooth and strong. Azzi leaned into her, their fingers brushing as she handed Paige her phone to let her watch a funny Tik Tok. Paige, pretending to watch, couldn’t help but notice the way their breaths mingled in the closeness of the moment. Azzi’s forehead was nearly touching hers, maybe a centimeter or less apart. Paige refused to look up, refused to watch the dimple she knew was on Azzi’s cheek, and ignored the way she knew her eyes were crunched in the way they did when she was smiling. She just laid there, and pretended not to notice the hammering in her chest, and watch the Tik Tok of the dog bouncing a basketball.
After the video was over, Paige twisted and laid on her back, staring at her ceiling with a blank expression. She drummed her fingers on her stomach as she shoved down whatever confusing emotions were beginning to swirl up a minute ago. Azzi noticed her shift and laid on her back as well, head turned towards Paige.
“What’re you thinking about?” Azzi asked.
Paige peered at her from the side, not turning her head. She’s felt her ears get warm, and she didn’t know why. “Thinking about how I outshot you this morning,” she said after a few seconds, smirk making its way onto her face.
Azzi snorted and rolled her eyes. “You literally did not.”
“Just admit I’m a better shooter than you,” Paige said, her eyes closing as she smiled softly up at the ceiling.
“I could outshoot you in my sleep.”
“Nah.” Paige laid there with her hands folded over her stomach, eyes still closed, still smiling softly at their comfortable banter.
Azzi copied her body language, languidly stretching her legs and then folding her hands on her stomach. Their elbows brushed. “Did you have a good day today?” The younger girl asked, soft but with genuine curiosity.
Paige turned her head fully to her then and watched her as Azzi had her eyes closed, smiling softly at the ceiling, waiting for her reply. It was no secret Paige had a big personality, and was basically a celebrity in Connecticut and beyond. She was a leader and she was strong and she was always being selfless with the people around her. Although she loved her life and the people in it, she was aware enough of herself that it got lonely projecting this image to others, no matter how authentic she was being. And that’s why Azzi was her favorite person in the world. Because Azzi thought to ask her how her day was, and she genuinely cared to know. She was one of the few people who would ask her that, and in the way she did, in quiet moments like this one. Because she knew Paige would appreciate it.
“I had a really nice day,” Paige replied softly. “Practice went well. Hung out with Nika for a few hours, and now hanging with you. I’m happy today.”
Azzi opened her eyes and gave her a small, genuine smile. “Good,” she replied simply. “Me too.”
“You get your project done?” Paige asked, propping herself on her elbow and twirling a string that came loose from Azzi’s tank on the collar. Azzi found herself slightly distracted by this, Paige’s fingers brushing her collar bone.
“Yeah, I’m so glad it’s over. It’s been stressing me out for weeks,” Azzi replied tiredly, rubbing her eyes. “Who assigns a massive sociology project the first week of classes? I can’t believe you convinced me to come to UConn, my professors so far are insane.”
Paige chuckled softly, meeting Azzi’s eyes and noticing her furrowed brow. She smoothed it over, deciding to ignore the way it pleased her when Azzi’s eyes closed at her touch.
“Shut up,” Paige teased lightly, “You’re so happy here. You just can’t admit I was right on convincing you to commit.”
Azzi hummed but didn’t respond. Paige stared at her for a beat and said, “I’m happy you’re here, Az. I feel…happier when you’re around. Like myself.”
They stared at each other in silence for a second before Azzi said quietly, “Me too.” Another beat later, “You’re my best friend, Paige.”
In the same breath, a loud chorus of laughter could be heard from down the hall where a few of their teammates remained, successfully breaking the pair out of the moment they didn’t realize they were having.
Paige and Azzi both scrunched their noses at one another, both annoyed at the sudden loudness of their space, and chuckled at how in sync they were. Azzi sighed and sat up, her hands holding her up from behind. She rolled her head and stared at Paige, watching as the blonde subconsciously twisted her fingers together, staring back. Azzi watched her hands for a moment, noticing their size and strength. She closed one eye and gave Paige a quick smile.
“Should go to bed, got early classes tomorrow,” she said, getting up from the bed.
Paige got up with her, and for a moment they both stretched dramatically, their athletic bodies always aching a bit. Paige lunged deeply with her hands on her hips while Azzi tried to touch her toes, both making exasperated noises and giggling.
“Alright buddy, I’ll be seeing ya,” Paige said, sounding like the midwesterner she was. Azzi let out a breath of a laugh and they hugged, chins falling on each other’s shoulders.
Part of Azzi wanted to ask to stay and sleep over, but she didn’t know why, and couldn’t come up with a good reason. She had her own bed, her own space. And it wasn’t like she wouldn’t see Paige in a few hours at morning practice, or every day after that for that matter. But a quiet voice in her head said I want to stay, ask me to stay, and I’ll stay.
But she ignored it, shoving Paige so she fell on the bed on her elbows, making them both laugh.
“Bye, dude.” With that, Azzi left, shutting Paige’s door on the way out. She waved bye to the rest of her teammates as she headed out the front door, passing by Nika, who gave her a curious look she didn’t notice.
When Azzi was fully gone, Nika’s eyes shifted to Paige’s bedroom door. Suddenly, the Croatian smiled to herself, feeling like she just solved a 1,000 piece puzzle.

Hcs on how Tom would speak in interviews about his gf!
enamored
Tumblr media
TW:non really, all fluff, it’s actually proofread!
wc: 663 words
{~——————————~[•]~——————————~}
Now that you and Tom are public, every interview contains at least 3 questions about you and Tom’s relationship. And Tom doesn’t really care, he loooves yapping about his absolute goddess of a girlfriend he scored(though if the questions creepy then him and the others will stare at the interviewer until they nervously laugh and move on to something else. Tom now hates that interviewer)
But after the first couple of times, people have learned not to ask about your relationship. Why? Because Tom will spend at least 15 minutes yapping about and then go onto the next story about until someone interrupts him, to tell him to stop.
What’s even worse, is that somehow, this man when asked a question can somehow link it back to you, and go onto a whole ass yapping session💀
“So,” The interviewer started as she looked down briefly at her cards, “just last week, you were spotted going to a amusement park and later on a new episode got released on Tokio Hotel tv. Now, there seems to be a scene where Tom, manages to ‘bumb’ into Georg while going against him in a shooting game.” A devious smile came upon Tom’s face as he heard the interviewer talk. His head turned to Georg as Georg started talking about how unfair it was and how Tom played the ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about’ card after. “Well, what really happened was that I just tripped.” Tom spoke, fully knowing he was lying. “And, I mean, it’s not my fault that I’m just the better shot at default. I mean, there was that one time where me and mein Leben were at the amusement park one day, and she saw this big teddy that she really wanted. And it just so happened to be a shooting game. And of course I agreed. So, I went up, started playing, and the game was definitely rigged, but eventually I got the teddy after setting anew high score. Oh, and then we went on this one ride that shot us into the air and flipped us around. mein Leben was shaking after but wanted to go again, so we did, and then- “mouse.” Bill spoke, interrupting Tom’s rant about your time at the amusement park. “Huh?” Tom looked at Bill, confused about why he stopped him. “You’ve been taking about you and her for 10 minutes.” Why wouldn’t he? “So?” “The interviewer asked about when you pushed Georg out of the way to win at the shooting game.” Bill looked at Tom with a face that was unimpressed. “Oh!” Tom sat up straighter as he realized that he’d been going on a rant about you. Again.
It’s clear that the rest of the band is used to this and have no hesitation to shut Tom up. No better how lethal the side eye Tom gives them. They give no fucks.
It’s gotten to the point where whenever Tom’s coming back from meeting up with or visiting you, they either have to literally lock themselves away, or tape Tom’s mouth shut because he’ll be yapping about your time together to an extent that’s actually insane and will keep on repeating how much he loves you and how beautiful you are. And there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s just they can only handle so much without combusting.
But when Tom’s asked about you while being on tour, and have been for quite a while, he’ll turn into this old sappy, pining man who acts like he’s been separated from his wife for 30+ years. When in reality it’s only been about 2-3ish months and you Skype every day.
It’s actually wild. Like, this man is so in love, that when asked a question that is related to you or not, somehow, one way or another, he’ll find a way to connect it to you sometimes and then either turn into a yapping simp, or a yapping, pining old man who’s sappy.

Guys, I had one of the weirdest 15 minutes of my life yesterday, as if some higher power put me in a jar and shook me around for a very short time and then let me out again.
But before I can tell the story I need to quickly make sure everyone has the context: Kotelet, the stray I took in had 2 bigger kittens and was super pregnant. These are the cutlets 1.0 and 2.0, you’ve mostly seen the second gen as they were born with me. But the two initial kittens went to Danny. They were very wild and we tried to socialize them, but in the process unfortunately one of them got out and was lost forever. This was way back in the beginning of August. The other kitten became Dietzel and recently Danny adopted one of the 2.0 gen to keep him company since we sadly never found the other kitten again… Okay keeping that in mind I can tell my story.
Yesterday around 2 I left my house to go to Danny. While waiting for my tram I was texting someone who is coming to adopt the last kitten. This combined with the nose cold I’ve been having made me a bit inattentive, and I got on the wrong tram. Not too big of a problem, bc this tram also travels close by Danny, I just had to walk one kilometer. A 15 minute walk. What could happen in that time right, I’ve done this route so often.
I get of the tram and I cross a bigger intersection. Open sky above me, as is typical for an intersection. Light goes green, I’m on the crosswalk. Suddenly, and with a loud slap, a pigeon drops dead on the ground in front of me.
I look at the pigeon. I look at the clear sky. I look back at the pigeon. I look back up. I notice the cables of the tram that go over the crosswalk, and realize it must have flown into the cables, and was killed by electrocution. At least it died instantly. Not a bad way to go for a pigeon. One moment it was going “weeeh I’m a bird”, next thing the lights went out.
The crosswalk light had turned red. Normally this would be immediately be followed by irritated honking, but as I make eye contact with the driver perpendicular to me, he also points at the cables and we exchange some “crazy right??” looks while I hurry to the side of the road.
“What’s it called again when people tell fortune by looking at birds?” I think, (it’s Ornithomancy) “the ancients Greeks did it, I remember it from the Odyssey… sure hope it’s not a bad omen!” I imagine a Greek augur predicting a war or whatever when a bird drops straight from the sky and someone going “is that bad?” I chuckle to myself, just a tiny bit nervous, and I continue my walk. Not long to go now.
“Pigeon dropped dead in front of me” I triple text Danny “Crazy. Electrocuted by the tram infrastructure. Super dead in an instance.”
A neighborhood cat cheerfully walks by me. I automatically lean down to pet it, can’t cross a friendly cat without saying hi! It’s a teenage tuxedo.
WAIT.
The cat looks at me. It has a little white moustache. It starts sniffing my boots like crazy.
Could it be…
Squatting on the sidewalk, I go in my pictures folder and frantically search for pictures of the cutlets 1.0 The cat leans against me. I find a picture where the kitten has a distinctive black mark on the back of its otherwise white socks. I stare down.
On the back of its legs it has a distinctive black mark.
“You got to be kidding me” I say. “Sniff sniff” says the cat. He headbutts me again.
I am 350 meters from Danny’s door. Obviously I don’t have anything with me. A car drives close by. I gotta do something, so I pick him up. And he lets me. And I just start walking.
After a 100 meters, he wants to go down again, so holding him in a sitting position, I grasp his hind legs with one hand, like they hold wild birds when ringing them, and my other arm goes across him to squeeze him against my chest and I hold his front paws. He meows a little and bites me so very lightly. He just kinda presses his teeth against my skin to communicate he’s not impressed by my action, but that’s all. He’s still pretty tiny after all.
I ring the doorbell, and Danny buzzes me in. “Bring a carrier!” I yell trough the speaker. “What?? Why??” “Just come down!”
He opens te door and looks confused. “Is that Kotelet??” is his first question, as they look alike. “No, try again” I say. Now Danny’s eyes go wide. “No. It’s not possible…”
It’s been more than 3 months. Danny just starts crying out of shock. I start laughing. Both losing it in different ways about the absurdity of the situation.
We’re in Danny’s living room. The little guy is eating all the wet food he can and promptly passes out. We just stare at him. The other cats are peeking in from the bedroom. I look at its white paws, all grey from the street. He purrs. We sit in silence, kind of forgetting to blink.
“Did you see my text about the pigeon that dropped dead in front of me.”

just a little kiss
-> chan x gn!reader
warnings+”: it's pretty suggestive so I'm just gonna say MDNI!! 18+!, lots of kissing, make out sesh basically, dry humping, low-key lipstick kink, illusions to giving head, reader is lifted up word count: 920 notes ๋࣭⭑ if y'all know the picture I'm talking about, the one of the first picture on a brick wall and fans left lipstick stains on it, PLS send it to me I cant find it anywhere and I'll love you forever!!! had this thought and I wasn't going to stop thinking about it until I wrote it out soooo here this is!! pls reblog and comment!! it helps me the most and lmk what you think! stay safe everyone and be gentle with yourselves<3
// part 2
“It should be illegal how hot you are.”
Chan can’t hide the blush blooming on his neck and ears at the compliment. He shushes you jokingly while zipping and buttoning the white pants the stylist set for him. You were only dropping off lunch when Chan asked how you would feel helping him out with something.
“Only if you feel comfortable.” He ends after explaining the photographer wanted you to stain Chan’s neck and torso with kiss marks. They have a stamp that they normally use but when he heard you were coming, he knew the real thing would look even better. You obviously said yes. How could you resist loving up your beautiful boyfriend and physically be able to see it?
There were a few color options and the deep red was really calling to you. Chan sits on the vanity next to where you were standing, waiting for you to finish applying it. You face him with a smile.
“Here let me help.” He wipes some lipstick from the corner of your mouth.
 “How does it look?”
“I’m having a very hard time not kissing you right now.” His tongue poked out to wet his lips.
You smile and lean over to give him a peck to try and satisfy him for now but that obviously doesn’t do much. He brings you to stand between his thighs, cupping your face to kiss you. It was a little needier and harder than you expected but neither of you minded.
Chan coasts his hands down to squeeze at your waist, pulling you closer against him. Your hands rest on his bare chest and it takes everything in you not to rake your nails and leave a pretty red trial. He licks across your bottom lip and you happily let him in.
By the time you pull away for air all of your lipstick had transferred onto his mouth and chin, smeared all over. You laugh at the sight and grab a makeup wipe, cleaning off his now reddened face. Chan stares at your mouth with a heated stare. The ruined lipstick all over your mouth was getting him a lot more hot and bothered than he expected.
“Don’t look at me like that love. We don’t have time.” You kiss his pout.
Before you could reapply your lipstick he pulls you back in. He places both hands on the backs of your thighs, lifting you with ease to sit on the vanity. You rest your arms over his shoulders, one hand threading through his hair and tugging lightly. Chan groans, bucking his hips forward and you gasp into his mouth at the feeling of his cock.
“I need you so bad baby. We can be fast.” He pleads, continuing to grind against you. You can’t deny how turned on you were, but the lunch break was only so much longer.
“I’m sorry but we probably shouldn’t,” you check the time on the clock on the wall, “we only have 15 minutes before you have to go back out and I know you too well to think we can finish in that time.”
Chan pouts but nods nonetheless. He checks his appearance in the mirror as you hop off and whips out his phone, taking a few pictures. Loving the evidence of your affection towards each other on him. You finally reapply the lipstick, going to the couch to grab a few pillows to place under your knees.
“Baby, please tell me this is some sick joke.” His eyes darken as he catches a glimpse of the pillows placed conveniently right by his feet.
“What? The ground is hard and I don't want any bruises.”
You plant the first mark on the side of his neck, then a few to the front of his throat. Chan grips at your hips again, his breath becoming shallow as you continue to go down. The sight of you on your knees, lipstick stained mouth getting closer to where he needs you most was driving him insane.
“Maybe we can just use the stamp. You look too good right now and I don’t know if I can-”
The last few kisses are planted right above the waistline of his pants, causing his breath to hitch and his stomach twitch underneath your lips.
“All done” You whisper against his skin and look up at him through your lashes.
Chan throws his head back, holding back a loud moan. You were torturing him at this point so he lifts you to stand on your feet and keeps you at arms length. He mumbles sad thoughts out loud, looking anywhere but you and you can’t help but laugh.
“I’m sorry to laugh but does that actually help get rid of it?” You ask while picking up the pillows to put them back.
“If I even look at you I will cum. This is the best I could come up with.” Chan tilts his head straight up at the ceiling with his eyes closed.
A staff member knocks on the door to tell Chan he needs to be out in 5 minutes which he couldn’t be more thankful for. You watch from the couch as he hastily throws the jacket on, careful not to mess up the stains across his body. Luckily he was able to fix his situation in time and leaves you with a kiss on your forehead.
“This isn’t over baby girl. I’m not going easy tonight.” He whispers against your ear then kisses your lips.

Law is calm during battles.
Law is calm in surgeries.
Law is not calm when you say, “Sure, I’d love to go on a date with you.”
And now, he’s pacing in his room like a man being hunted.
“Captain,” Bepo says gently, poking his head into Law’s room “You’ve been… changing your coat for the past 15 minutes.”
Law stops, eyes wild “Which one makes me look more—” he stops. Then corrects himself “Never mind.”
Bepo blinks “More what?”
“…Like I’m not dying inside.”
Bepo nods solemnly “Go with the dark one, it's your color.”
The “date” starts with Law arriving twenty minutes early. Not because he’s eager, of course (he is.)
You show up with a smile, looking relaxed and easy-going, and Law immediately forgets how to stand like a normal person. He moves like someone’s remote-controlling him from across the street.
“You look good” he says.
You blink “Thanks! So do you.”
He dies.
Inside.
Law has a plan. It’s written in his notebook.
Literally.
He wrote a plan.
Phase 1: Get snacks from that café in town.
Phase 2: Walk by the docks.
Phase 3: Compliment them. Not weirdly. Normal compliment.
Phase 4: If going well, offer to take them stargazing. If rejected, die.
Simple.
Except that phase 1 explodes immediately.
The café is closed“Temporarily for repairs” the sign says.
Law stares at the sign like it personally betrayed him “This wasn’t in the plan” he mutters.
You peek over his shoulder “We can just get something from a stall?”
He hesitates. That’s not in the plan. That’s not in the plan.
But you’re smiling, so he nods “Right. Improvising. Yeah. I can do that.”
(He can’t do that)...
Meanwhile, across the street Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo are hiding behind barrels. Watching.
“He’s sweating” Shachi whispers.
Penguin squints “Can he even sweat? Is that medically possible for him?”
Bepo sighs “I don’t think he blinked in five minutes.”
Back on the date, Law is now trying to eat takoyaki. He stabs one with a stick, offers it to you, and then, mid-movement, panics.
“Wait—are you allergic to anything? Shellfish? Octopus? Gluten??”
You laugh “Nope. I’m good.”
“…Okay.” He hesitates “Do you want this one, or should I—”
“I’ll take it.”
Back behind the barrels, Penguin falls to the ground “I can’t watch this.”
By the time you’re strolling along the docks (Phase 2 is back on track!), Law is a wreck. Internally. Externally he still has that serious Captain face on.
“You don’t… date often, do you?” you ask, amused.
Law’s steps falter.
“…Is it that obvious?” he mutters.
You bump his shoulder lightly “Just a little. But it’s cute.”
Cute..........
You just called him........ cute.
Someone please sedate him.
He clears his throat “You’re… uh. You’re not bad yourself.”
You laugh “Was that a compliment?”
He looks away “Kind of.”
You grin “I’ll take it.”
Behind a stack of crates, Shachi is losing his mind “SOMEONE PUT HIM OUT OF HIS MISERY.”
“HE SAID ‘NOT BAD YOURSELF’—WHO EVEN SAYS THAT?!” Penguin wheezes.
Bepo watches calmly “I think it’s going well.”
“…Are we watching the same date?”
You’re sitting on the dock now, feet dangling over the edge, watching the sky turn orange. The date hasn’t gone the way Law planned.
Which is exactly the problem.
He stands next to you like he’s guarding treasure. Except he’s not relaxed. He’s tense. Like he expects an ambush.
From the moon.
“So…” you say, glancing up at him “You always this quiet?”
Law hesitates “I’m… thinking.”
“About?”
“…Phase Four.”
“Phase what?”
He freezes “Nothing.”
You narrow your eyes “Law. Did you… plan this date like a battle?”
He clears his throat “No.”
“…You definitely did.”
He changes the subject. Badly “Do you like… stars?”
Meanwhile, behind a crate about 50 feet away, Shachi has his binoculars out.
“They’re sitting. It’s happening. Phase Four is happening.”
Bepo nods, whispering, “Do you think he’ll kiss them?”
Shachi nearly drops the binoculars “No way. No way. He’d combust.”
Penguin has snacks now “What if y/n kisses him first?”
There’s a beat of silence.
They all go, in unison: “He’d die.”
Back at the dock, you lean back on your hands “Stars are nice. But I like hearing you talk about things you like.”
Law blinks. That wasn’t in the plan.
“…Like medicine?” he asks cautiously.
“Sure.”
“Anatomy?”
You raise a brow “Within reason.”
He exhales slowly “What about… the ocean?”
“See?” you say “You’re doing fine.”
“I don’t think so.”
You tilt your head “Are you nervous?”
“…Extremely.”
You smile.
That’s when you both hear it.
“PENGUIN, GET YOUR FOOT OFF MY HEAD—”
Law stiffens “Wait.”
There’s rustling. A loud clunk. Then “SHHHHHHH!! THEY CAN HEAR US—”
Law turns slowly. You follow his gaze.
A barrel tips over.
Three grown men—one bear, two idiots—collapse into the open like spilled groceries.
“…Oh my god,” you whisper “Were they SPYING on us?!”
Law’s eye twitches.
Shachi pops up “Captain!! Don’t be mad!! We were just—uh—moral support!!”
Bepo waves sheepishly “You were doing great until now!”
Penguin gives you a thumbs-up from the ground “You’re really cute together!”
Law looks like he’s going to murder someone.
You, meanwhile, are wheezing.
“They were there the whole time?!” you gasp, laughing “How long have they been WATCHING?”
Shachi: “Since before the takoyaki.”
Penguin: “Since coat number three.”
Law: “…I’m going to kill you.”
Bepo: “But gently, right?”
You stand up and tug Law’s sleeve. He glances down at you, still visibly unamused.
“I thought it was cute” you say “Your plan. The awkward flirting. All of it.”
He stares “Even this?”
You grin “Especially this.”
His ears turn pink.
Later that night…
Law storms into the crew quarters.
“Meeting. Now.”
They scramble to attention.
He points at each of them “You are banned from surveillance. No more binoculars. No more hiding behind barrels. If I see a single one of you during a private moment again, I will operate your limbs off and sew them back wrong.”
Shachi gulps “Got it.”
Penguin: “Totally fair.”
Bepo: “What about just listening—?”
Law: “Bepo.”
“…Okay. Sorry.”
He turns to leave, coat flapping dramatically—until Shachi calls out “Wait! Did you at least kiss them?!”
Law pauses in the doorway. Silent. Then closes the door behind him.
In the hallway, alone, he leans against the wall, covers his face, and mutters “…Next time.”
Tumblr media
Breakfast on the Polar Tang is loud.
Penguin and Shachi are fighting over eggs. Bepo is carefully peeling an orange like it’s surgery. The table’s full—shoulders bumping, chopsticks clattering, someone laughing every five seconds.
You walk in, hair still messy, and Law is already seated at the end.
He looks up the second you enter.
“Morning” you say, rubbing your eye.
He nods, quietly “Morning.”
You take the empty seat beside him.
On the other end of the table, someone yells, “Hey—who took the last piece of cake?!”
You glance up. Sure enough there’s one perfect square of fluffy, cream-filled strawberry shortcake sitting on a plate near the middle. Or rather was sitting.
In one clean, lightning-fast movement, Law grabs it and slides it across the table.
In front of you.
He doesn’t look at you. Doesn’t explain. Just keeps drinking his black coffee like he didn’t just commit pastry theft.
You stare at him.
Then at the cake.
Then back at him.
“You like it” he says again, like that explains everything.
Which… it does. Kind of.
You blink fast and look away, trying not to smile too hard. He’s always the type to do something so sweet.
But then he notices your cup’s empty and, without saying anything, reaches over and refills it from the kettle. Still not looking at you. Still completely casual. Like it's just part of his morning routine.
Your brain short-circuits.
...And it gets worse.
A piece of hair falls into your face. You're about to push it back, but he does it first—absentminded, fingers brushing your temple like it’s nothing.
Like it’s normal. Like it’s just something he’s allowed to do.
You stop breathing for a second.
Law, meanwhile, is already slicing into an omelet, entirely unaware that he’s killing you one tiny gesture at a time.
You take a bite of the cake, cheeks warm.
It’s perfect...Of course it is.
Later, as you’re both standing up to clear plates, you bump shoulders.
“Thanks” you murmur.
“For what?”
“The cake. The tea. The hair thing. All of it.”
He looks at you for a second but then his gaze flicks from your eyes to your mouth and back again.
“…Wasn’t a big deal.”
“It kinda is.”
He blinks. Tilts his head a little.
You smile “You’re a lot cuter when you’re not trying so hard, y’know.”
He frowns “I wasn’t trying before.”
“Exactly.”
You pat his arm, grab your dish, and head toward the sink.
Behind you, he stands there, stuck in place.
Then mutters to himself “…Cuter?”
After breakfast you’re chatting with Bepo about the latest island rumors, sitting at the mess table again. Law’s standing nearby, arms crossed, pretending to read a report. But he keeps looking up every time you laugh. Every time you tilt your head, or say his name, or look like you might say something else.
He’s not subtle.
Not even a little.
You don’t call him out for it. You like it. The fact that he’s choosing to just be around you, even if he pretends he isn’t.
He’s calmer now than he was on your first date. Less fidgety. Less stressed. And way more dangerous because of it.
Like right now, he glances up from his report, sees you rubbing your shoulder absently, and immediately sets the paper down.
“You okay?”
You blink “Yeah, just slept weird.”
He steps behind you and before you can ask what he’s doing his hands are on your shoulders.
Firm, careful pressure. His thumbs move in slow circles against your neck, like he knows exactly what he’s doing. (He does. He’s a doctor, after all).
Your body goes very still.
The crew goes even stiller.
Across the room, Shachi drops a wrench.
Penguin inhales a peanut and starts coughing.
Bepo covers his mouth like he’s watching a sacred ritual.
Law doesn’t notice. Or maybe he does, but doesn’t care.
He just mutters, “Tell me if it hurts” and keeps working the muscle.
You swear you might dissolve on the spot.
Later that day, you're walking down the hall toward the storage room when you hear it “DID YOU SEE THE MASSAGE?”
It's Shachi. His voice echoes off the metal walls.
“That was intimate, right? That wasn’t just medical. That was spiritual.”
Penguin: “I choked on a peanut for a reason. That was fate.”
Bepo, calmly: “I think they’re in love.”
You peek around the corner.
They’re in a triangle of chaos. Whisper-yelling. Flailing. Dramatic hand gestures.
You clear your throat and all three freeze.
You raise your eyebrows.
“…We were just talking about the weather” Shachi says, very seriously.
“Peanut forecast” Penguin adds.
Bepo bows slightly “I fully support you and the captain.”
You blink “We’re not even dating.”
There’s silence.
Then, in unison “YET.”
You walk off, red in the face, trying not to laugh.
You don’t see Law leaning in the next hallway, arms crossed again, listening to the whole thing.
He exhales through his nose, quietly.
Then mutters to himself “…Idiots.”
But his lips twitch. Just a little.
Law finds you on the deck in the early evening.
You're sitting on a crate, swinging your legs, watching the lights in the distance as the town starts to glow with festival lanterns.
He approaches, hands in his pockets.
“Hey” he says.
You glance up “Hey. Festival looks nice.”
He nods.
There’s a pause.
You look at him, expectant.
He shifts his weight, like he’s debating something. Then “…You wanna go?”
You blink “To the festival?”
“Yeah.” He shrugs, eyes on the horizon “Figured if I ask without writing a five-step plan first, I might not almost die.”
You snort “So this is you asking me on another date?”
He glances at you “Depends.”
“On?”
“If you say yes.”
You grin “I do.”
He exhales “Cool.”
You both try not to smile too obviously.
The festival is chaos but in the best way.
Kids dart through the crowd with candy in both hands. Music plays from a group of locals with hand drums. Lights swing overhead like constellations. There’s food everywhere.
You’re walking side-by-side, not touching, but close enough that your arms brush every now and then.
It’s comfortable.
It’s easy.
You pass a game booth, some kind of target shooting with cork guns. Law glances at it, then at you.
“You good at that?”
You shrug “Mediocre. You?”
“…Surgical.”
You grin “Prove it.”
Ten minutes later, he’s won you a stupid plush seal.
Not by being cool... no. He misses the first two shots, scowls at the gun like it insulted his ancestors, then mutters something about "cheap manufacturing" and *then* gets serious.
Tongue between his teeth. Narrowed eyes. Absolutely committed to this ridiculous task.
When he finally hits the last target, he looks so smug that you burst out laughing.
He shoves the plush into your hands “I said I’d get it.”
You’re still laughing “You’re so dramatic.”
He watches you, something soft in his eyes “…You like it though.”
You pretend to examine the seal “I mean, the craftsmanship’s a little off…”
He bumps your shoulder with his.
You both smile.
Later, you stop for shaved ice, sitting together on a low wall at the edge of the square.
You’re halfway through your dessert when Law quietly says, “This is better.”
You pause “Than what?”
He looks down at his cup “Last time. When I was trying too hard.”
You tilt your head “You were cute then, too.”
He huffs “I was malfunctioning.”
“You were. But it was cute.”
He glances at you, eyes a little narrowed “You call me cute one more time, I’ll—”
“What?” you challenge, grinning.
He leans in. Just a little.
You freeze.
“…I’ll get you a second plush” he says, flatly.
You burst out laughing.
He pulls back, lips twitching. He’s definitely not immune to how red your face is right now. And he likes it.
The sun dips lower, the festival softens. Lights blur a little more golden, music slows down, and kids start tugging tired parents toward "one last game."
You and Law are still wandering, side-by-side, when you pass a booth with a simple ball toss game, rings over bottles.
There's a kid already playing. Small. Serious. Determined.
Law stops. Watches.
The kid notices.
Their eyes lock.
You can feel the energy shift.
The kid slowly, silently, picks up another ring.
Law crosses his arms.
You look at both of them “…What is happening?”
Neither answers.
The kid tosses.
Hit.
Law steps up, drops a coin in the tray without looking away from the tiny opponent.
He tosses.
Hit.
It’s on.
The next few minutes are dead silent, deadly focused, and weirdly intense. Ring after ring. Perfect aim. Small frowns. No smiles. Just raw, quiet competition between a six-year-old and a warlord of the sea.
You’re trying so hard not to laugh you’re shaking.
Eventually the kid lands the final toss. Clean. The biggest bottle. Fireworks go off behind them (perfect timing), and they just nod like, obviously.
Law misses his last ring by a centimeter.
The kid walks over to the prize wall, selects a plush shark... huge, bright blue... and struts back to you.
Holds it out.
“For you, princess,” he says, with perfect, practiced swagger “I’m way better than him.”
You blink.
Law blinks.
The kid walks off without another word.
You look at Law.
You cackle.
Like, actual, doubled-over, wiping-your-eyes laughter.
Law is standing there in stunned silence like he just got outplayed in flirting by a child.
“Did he just—”
You nod, wheezing “He did. He called me princess. Did you hear that delivery?!”
Law glares at the shark plush like it insulted his honor.
You’re still laughing when he says, “It was rehearsed. He’s done that before.”
You lean against the booth, catching your breath “Oh my god. You should’ve done that on our first date.”
He mutters something about “not stooping to plush-based mind games” but he’s definitely not as grumpy as he pretends to be.
And when you nudge him, smiling, he just mutters “…I still won the seal.”
The walk back to the ship is quiet.
The streets behind you still glow with festival lights, but out here, closer to the shore, it’s all stars and sea breeze. A little cooler. A little slower.
You and Law walk side by side. No need to talk. No need to fill the silence.
You’re holding the dumb blue shark and the seal.
He hasn’t teased you about it since the kid incident. Maybe he knows you’d win. Or maybe he’s distracted.
You glance at him. His eyes are soft tonight, not sharp like they usually are. He’s not analyzing anything. Not overthinking. He’s just here with you.
“I had fun” you say quietly.
He nods “Yeah.”
You wait a second... “…That all you’re gonna say?”
He looks over “I didn’t almost die of embarrassment this time.”
You smile “True. Growth.”
A pause.
Then he says, voice lower “I liked being with you. Not just because it went better. Just… because it’s you.”
You stop walking.
He does too. Turns to face you fully.
The wind lifts his coat slightly. The moon lights the water behind him. His expression is unreadable for a second—then shifts.
Softer. Realer.
“I don’t really do this kind of thing,” he says “Dates. People.”
“I know.”
“But I want to try. If it’s you.”
Your heart stumbles.
You step closer “I was planning to kiss you tonight.”
His breath hitches, just a little “Oh.”
You grin “You okay with that?”
He nods once “Yeah.”
And that’s all you need.
You lean in. Your hands brush his coat. His breath catches. Then you kiss him. Slow. Steady. Warm.
He kisses you back like he’s memorizing it.
One hand rests on your waist, hesitant at first, then firmer, like he’s finally letting himself believe this is real.
When you pull back, you’re both quiet for a moment.
Then he murmurs, barely audible “…Better than a plush.”
You laugh against his chest.
He doesn’t say it, but he holds you a little tighter and that actually says everything.
It’s late, the crew mostly asleep, lights dimmed, the ocean calm. You’re in Law’s quarters now. It’s neater than you expected, but still has that lived-in look. Folders stacked in perfect piles. Books arranged by subject. A single mug half-full of cold tea.
You’re curled up on his couch. Shark plush tucked under one arm. Law’s sprawled next to you, boots off, coat hanging on the back of his desk chair.
His head’s resting against the back of the couch, eyes half-closed. He looks tired. In that good way. The kind that comes after laughter and a kiss and not needing to pretend.
You shift a little and his hand finds yours without looking.
Fingers laced. Easy.
“You’re quiet” you murmur.
“Still processing.”
You glance over “The kiss?”
“No. The shark.”
You snort “Jealous?”
He opens one eye “Of a six-year-old with good aim and terrifying confidence? …Yes.”
You laugh, soft and warm.
Law’s watching you now, really watching you, and this time there’s no hesitation. No second-guessing.
He reaches up and brushes a thumb over your cheekbone. Slow. Gentle. Familiar now.
“I meant what I said,” he murmurs “I want this.”
You nod “Me too.”
He shifts closer “You staying?”
You lean your head against his shoulder “Unless you kick me out.”
“…I’d operate the door shut before I let that happen.”
You smile into his shirt.
The next morning you wake up warm.
Wrapped in a blanket, shark plush tucked under your arm, head resting on something solid. And breathing.
You blink.
It’s Law’s chest.
His coat is draped over both of you like some makeshift shield. One of his hands is still loosely around your waist. The other is on his face, like he's already regretting waking up.
You smile.
“Morning” you whisper.
He groans into his palm “No.”
Then there’s a knock... or more like a bang.
“CAPTAIN!”
Law tenses.
You sit up, hair everywhere, still holding the plushes like a shield.
“Captain, are you—” Penguin bursts in and freezes.
Shachi appears behind him, sees the situation, and gasps like someone got stabbed.
Bepo peeks in last. Quietly says, “Told you they were in love.”
Law is already covering his face again.
Penguin: “Are these TWO cute plushes?!”
Shachi: “DID YOU SLEEP IN THE SAME ROOM?!”
Bepo, sincerely: “Did you cuddle?”
You blink at them.
Law doesn’t move.
You clear your throat “Morning.”
Shachi leans in “Good morning to you, power couple.”
Penguin: “So? You guys kiss last night? You kiss? You totally kissed, right?”
Law finally lifts his head.
Dead-eyed. Voice flat.
“Out. Now.”
The crew flees like rats.
You’re left half-laughing, half-horrified.
Law exhales deeply “I should’ve locked the door.”
You lean against him again “I think it’s cute.”
He stares at you like you’ve said something illegal.
You grin, plush squished between you.
“You’re really soft when you sleep, y’know.”
He closes his eyes “I’m moving out.”

Y/N finally looked at her phone again. It was little past twelve and she had a moment to breathe. Opening her phone, she saw a few messages. One from Jack around a few minutes ago: “Jesus, dove, woke up to this novel of a text. Sounds good about dinner. I’ll grab ingredients soon. Dogs are good. Going to walk them in a bit. About Dolly, send me a link, but can’t promise anything. We have four already…  Just be smug to Robby back and put him in his place. Beckett can crash, but can we talk before he comes? Just need to debrief with you. Let Beckett know that the guest bed is made, but if he leaves his socks in the kitchen again, I’m going to make him clean the bathroom. Talk soon.”
She nodded, reading it before going to the next message that was from Beckett. “Fire. Talked to Mom a few days ago. She met a lad at the legion and now thinks she has found her soulmate. Let’s see how long this one lasts…”
Y/n chuckled, nodding before closing her phone. Robby gathered everyone and debriefed with them all about charting. It was a standard lecture about how to improve patient satisfaction scores, to get the hospital more money and to be through with diagnosing.
Y/N finally got the tests results back for Nick Riley, glancing over them, she sighed. The kid did OD over fentanyl. Basically the same age as Beckett.
“Robby,” Y/N said, getting up and walking over to him. She was wearing a cardigan now, a hot pink one, due to her being cold. “Nick Riley’s cerebral perfusion study is back,” she told him, handing him the tablet.
She watched him take a deep breath as he glanced over the tablet to see the results. A loud sigh came before subtle nods. “No blood flow past the brain stem. Ok,” he muttered, looking over at her. “How are you holding up?” he asked, sending her a silent nudge.
Y/N stared at him for a moment before nodding. “Fine. Grand. Good,” she muttered and shook her head lightly. “A lot of death today.”
He nodded. “Yeah, I know. Jack had a rough night as well,” he explained.
Y/N nodded. “Must be a full moon,” she mumbled. “Or a retrograde.” He just stared at her for a moment before chuckling. “How are you holding up, Chief?” she asked. “You don’t usually work this day. I’ve been caught up with my shit and didn’t think about you. Just checking in.”
He stared at her for a moment, debating whether to talk, but thought not to. “Just another day in paradise,” he responded. “I’m fine,” he added as she stared at him for a moment with a raised brow. “You sound like Dana.”
“We are cut from the same cloth,” Y/N replied, sending a smirk. “What do you want me to do with Nick?” she asked, going back to work.
“Let me know when the transplant people from CORE arrive,” he said to her.
“Yeah, totally,” she replied before turning away and leaving to check on her patients.
Y/N was so close to winning the bet, but Collin’s got her by one factor. She had crash and the catch wrong, which Collin’s got right. Robby made fun of her for a bit, saying she did her calculations wrong, but Y/N shoved it off. She muttered something like, “Better at counting cards than making bets. There’s a mathematical equation to it which you can never get wrong when you do it correctly.”
Dana and Robby just stared at her as if she had two heads.
The ER was in its usual state of chaos, monitors beeping, sneakers squeaking, call lights flashing, trauma bay doors opening and swinging. It was just another day. Busy, hectic and chaotic.
Y/N was standing leaning against the counter lightly as she wrote something on the computer. Her reading glasses on her nose as she ran a hand down her face. She was focused, humming lowly under her breath some song that Jack showed her a few days ago. He was about educating her on real music, whatever that meant.
Robby approached her. “How many cups of coffee have you had?” he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
“I don’t know. Maybe four,” she muttered, not thinking. “Did you get me one? I would love you forever. I didn’t sleep last night.”
He stared at her, but she was focused on the computer.
“You know, you’re only supposed to have two cups of coffee a day max while pregnant,” he whispered, leaning into her. Y/N slowly glanced up to him, face falling.
            “Fuck,” she whispered.
“How far along are you?” he asked, raising a brow.
“Seven weeks,” she whispered back. “Oh my God,” she whispered again, “the fetal heart rate is going to be increasing, and it could impair oxygenation. It can also increase a miscarriage.” She was whispering more to herself. She glanced down at the floor, trying to calm herself. “Oh my fucking God,” she whispered, voice filled with worry.
Robby instantly softened. He stepped closer, placing a hand on her arm, squeezing it lightly, voice gentle but steady. “Hey, hey, breathe, Ace.”
She nodded, but her hand was already on her stomach like could somehow undo the caffeine with her palms. “I wasn’t thinking. I didn’t even – fuck, Robby, what if I messed something up?” Her voice cracked on the last word, quiet but filled with a rising panic she didn’t often allow anyone to see.
“You didn’t,” he said firmly. “Y/N, just stop, ok? Deep breaths. It’s not like you shot espresso into your veins through an IV. Four cups ins’t great, but its not catastrophic.”
She bit down her lip, looking at him through wide, glassy eyes. “I know better, though. I fucking know better.”
He nodded. “Yeah, you do. But you also haven’t slept. You’ve been working all week and you’ve been carrying this secret around, trying to function like nothing has changed. You’re stressed. That doesn’t make you a bad mom. It makes you human.”
Her eyes dropped again, and she gave him a small nod. “Thanks, Robby,” she hummed.
“Where’s that giant water bottle you carry around? The pink one? Let me fill it with water and electrolytes, vitamins and all that jazz. Get you hydrated,” he said with a smile, patting her on the back.
“It’s at my station,” she replied. “Thanks.”
He nodded. “Anytime. But before I do that, I do need your advice on something,” he told her, looking at her.
            Y/N nodded. “Yeah, shoot.”
“It’s really weird and I don’t know what the hell to do with it. I don’t know if you’ve seen something like this or read about it…”
She slowly nodded, pressing save on the chart she was working on and turning her full attention to him. “Talk to me.”
“There’s a woman who came in this morning. Nausea, vomiting, lightheaded, fatigue, that sort of thing. Vitals were fine. Blood work clean. Nothing to show what was happening. With a few questions, she finally admitted that she had taken an induced vomiting drug. Made herself sick to get here.”
Y/N raised a brow. “Factitious Disorder?” she asked, tilting her head to the side.
He shook his head. “Thought that, but no. She wants help. Told me her son is planning on killing some schoolgirls.”
Y/N’s face doesn’t change, instead she just stared at him. “Repeat that?”
Robby leaned forward, voice low. “She said her teenage son has a list of girls he wants to kill. A hit list. She found it. Doesn’t know who to tell. Doesn’t know what to do. I don’t know if I should get the police involved – McKay said I should. Dad died due to COVID. Kid ran off when I questioned.”
            Y/N exhaled. “Holy shit, ok.”
“Yeah,” Robby nodded. “I’ve never had anything like this in the decades of medicine I’ve been practising. I mean, what do I even do? I’m not psych. This isn’t my wheelhouse.”
Y/N doesn’t hesitate. “First, you need to document everything. Everything. Everything he mentioned, every action he did. Anything. Everything mom says and does as well. Trauma can cause idealisations like this. Or other mental health disorders. Mom brought him here, which means there’s an element of seeking help rather than hiding it. That’s important.”
            Robby nods slowly, absorbing.
“Second,” Y/N continues, her tone soft but confident, “you are talking to her like she’s in a crisis. This is not a crisis right now. Do not make her more worried than she is right now. This is terrifying for her. You need to build therapeutic rapport.”
Robby furrowed his brows. “I’m not a therapist, Y/N.”
She shrugged. “Well, sometimes you need to be. Therapeutic rapport is building a bond, trust between you and the patient. No judgment. Be empathic, validate her feelings, make her feel safe. Hear the whole story. Moms know their kids. I know you’re good at rapport. I’ve seen it.”
            He nodded.
“Ask her how she’s coping. Ask if there’s anyone helping her – therapists, counsellors, psychologists, even family. A support system needs to be created. She’s not crazy, she’s worried. She’s a mother whose son might be a danger to others, she’s scared shitless.”
He nodded. “What about the son?”
Y/N shrugged. “He’s a minor, right?” Robby nodded. “It’s not a ‘tell the school’ issue. You need to report this. Don’t call the police. Police don’t know how to deal with cases like this without making it seem criminal. Get psych involved, even social work. I can help do. But right now, your job is the mom. Talk to her. Sit down. Be human. It’s not about diagnosing, it’s about understanding the pain that this kid is going through and how you can support the family. If that makes sense. It’s not black or white, Robby. Tough with situations like this.”
Robby looked at her for a beat, then chuckled softly. “You can be terrifying when you’re calm like this.”
She hummed. “Did my time in mental health, remember? Three years of working in the psych ward as a mental health worker. I’ve sat on too many cold tile floors with kids who thought no one would ever understand them. You don’t forget that. Being a teenager is hard, especially in this day of age.” Y/N squeezed his arm. “I have a teenager brother. It’s hard for them.”
Robby nodded. “Thanks. I mean it.”
Y/N bumped her shoulder with his. “You got this, Cowboy. Just be kind. Active listening. That’s all people ever really need.” He sent her a smile. “Want me to come? Jump in if needed?”
He thought for a moment, then shook his head. “No, too many bodies. She might freak out.”
Y/N nodded. “Absolutely valid. Go be a therapist for a second. Might even boost your patient satisfaction scores,” she hummed, smiling.
Robby chuckled, shaking his head and walking away.
-
Dana came up to Y/N a little while later. “Have you eaten, sweetheart?” she asked, leaning to look at her.
Y/N shook her head. “Not since this morning when Jack shoved a sandwich down my throat and then I puked it up,” she replied, humming.
“Come on, Mama,” she hummed, hooking her arm with the nurse and pulling her to the break room.
Once they got there, there were several bags filled with sandwiches. Instantly, Y/N then felt her hunger, sitting down and going through the bags.
“Ugh,” McKay groaned, “the things I would do for pastrami.”
Y/N smirked, going through the boxes to find something she could eat. It was recommended not to eat cold cuts when pregnant, so she was searching for something.
“Is there a turkey and cheese?” Princess asked, glancing over.
“Uh, yeah,” Y/N replied, handing her a box.
The door opened, and Robby came in. “Oh, what is all this?” he asked.
“Lunch. Primanti’s. It appears that we have at least one grateful patient,” Dana replied, looking over her shoulder to see Robby.
Robby smirked. “Hope is alive. Who do we have to thank?” he asked.
“I don’t know. I think there’s a card at the bottom of the bag,” Dana said.
Robby found it, reading it over, however he placed it down, face fallen. “Enjoy your lunch,” he responded, then looked over at Y/N. “But you…eat,” he lectured, pointing at the young nurse.
“I am!” she hollered back, mouth full of food.
“Good.” Then he left the room.
Y/N noticed the wicked change of behaviour from the old man within seconds. Brows furrowed; she grabbed the card.
            “What was that?” Whitaker asked.
            “Don’t know,” Dana replied.
Y/N sighed. “It’s from Shelby Adamson, Dr. Adamson’s sister,” Y/N replied, handing the card to Dana.
“She sends something every year,” Dana muttered, sighing.
“He doesn’t like her?” Whitaker asked.
Y/N shook her head. “No, it’s about that. It’s about him,” she whispered, biting into her sandwich again.
“Dr. Adamson was Robby’s mentor and he…he died during COVID, so,” Dana replied, another deep sigh came from her.

Y/N got called for a potential drug-induced patient or even psych. Nandi, an influencer who was erratic. Y/N stood next to Robby, arms crossed, as Donnie administered some drugs and Santos and Mohan tried to get the patient’s history.
“Javadi, Whitaker, see if you can do the exam,” Robby said, looking over to the med students.
They nodded. Javadi took out her pen light. “Can you look at the light?” she asked as Whitaker took vitals.
Instantly, the patient flinched, hiding herself away from the light. “No. What was that?” she expressed.
“Ok. Open your mouth?” Javadi tried.
The patient was curled up, scared and filled with fear. Y/N continued to watch the behaviour, glancing over to Robby, who gave her a look.
“No. It’s not real. Where am I?” the patient continued to express, voice filled with fear.
“How do you even do an exam with a patient like this?” Whitaker asked.
            Nandi continued to be paranoid.
“Observe her. Wait for her to look at you or open her mouth, and get a quick look. Make sure she moved her arms and legs equally,” Mohan explained to the med students.
Donnie tried to get the patient hooked up to the monitor, but she was fighting.
“Alright, we might need to wait until after the meds kick in,” Robby explained, arms still crossed as he looked at the patient. Then he called everyone out of the room. Y/N followed suit.
Once out of the room, Y/N stood in front of Robby, glancing back as she tried to think of what could possibly have happened. However, Robby let out a sigh.
            “Ok, differential diagnosis?” he asked.
“Schizophrenia, first psychotic break. She’s in the right age range,” Javadi suggested.
Y/n slowly nodded. Robby too. “Yeah, what else?” he said.
“Drugs, also common in this age group,” Whitaker explained.
“Common in any age group,” Y/N replied.
            “Exactly,” Robby said. “What else?”
“Not just recreational drugs. It could also be toxicity to medications,” Javadi tried.
Y/N nodded again, thinking that could be a possibility as well.
“Don’t just jump to conclusions,” Mohan reminded. “Think big categories and then specifics.”
“Metabolic, hyper- or hyponatremia, calcium, hepatic encephalopathy,” Whitaker brainstormed.
“Endocrine, hyperthyroid, infectious encephalitis,” Javadi added.
“These are all possibilities,” Robby muttered, looking down at the floor for a second. “Ok, let’s work her up medically and see if we can clear her.” Then he glanced at the patient through the window.
“Chem panel, CBC, TSH and T4, drug screen, and hCG,” Mohan muttered, saying the tests they need to do.
“Yep. Keep me posted. If it’s all negative, then admit her to psych,” Robby ordered, nodding at the team before walking off.
Y/N nodded, turning back to the patient to help stabilise her so they could get the tests done.
-
Y/N watched Robby’s behaviour for an hour. The way he was snappier, grumpier and a little bit too harsh with his tone. She figured it could be because he was hangry or perhaps due to the fact that it was Adamson’s death day. However, she needed to talk to him. She needed him to talk to her and for her to express that he can’t talk the way he does to his team.
When she spotted him exiting the bathroom, she made her way, stopping in front of him. He stared at her for a moment, raising a brow.
“You, me, talk, now,” she barked, pointing to the hallway.
“Y/N,” he tried, voice low and warning.
She shook her head. “Nope. You’re talking to me,” she explained, grabbing his arm and pulling him.
            “I’m a busy man, Y/N. I don’t have time–“
“Don’t care. You need a moment to decompress. To breathe. So, we will go to the corner and hash it out,” she barked back, stopping in a spot where no one could see them. “You’re being harsh to the kids. A little bit too blunt, which isn’t like you, Robby–“
He stared at her for a moment before glancing away, rocking back and forth on his feet. “I’m fine. I’m fine,” he said, trying to convince her.
She shook her head. “You’re off today. I’m not the only one who sees it.”
            He scoffed.
“You’re snapping. Chewing the kids out like they stole your car. Something’s going on, so tell me,” Y/N explained, nudging him. “Just between us.”
He glanced at her, eyes dark with something she couldn’t quite place – exhaustion, maybe. Pain. Or both. His jaw clenched.
“Jesus, Y/N,” he muttered. “Not everything needs to be dissected with your psych degree and nurse intuition. Maybe I’m just in a bad fucking mood.”
She narrowed her eyes. “You don’t snap at people because of a bad mood. That’s not who you are. Also, you need to be professional, Robby. If it is a bad mood, stop impacting other people. We need to work as a team.”
Robby looked away again, like he was trying to swallow something that didn’t want to go down. “You ever think that maybe I’m just a ride for people expecting me to hold it together?” he muttered.
Y/N softened when he muttered that. “Then talk it out. Say it. Don’t lash out at them. You’re their attending, Robby, their mentor. The chief of the ER. They look up to you.”
He let out a humourless laugh, shaking his head. “Yeah, well, today they’re looking up to a man who’s–“ He sighed.
She stared at him, crossing her arms over her chest. “You’re one of the only people I’ve ever trusted to go into hell with and come out on the other side. But not like this. Not when you’re burning people with you.” He blinked. Once. Twice. “It’s ok to not be ok.”
Then his tone dropped, almost broken as he glanced down.
            “It’s Adamson’s anniversary.”
            She nodded slowly. “I figured.”
“And then all the fucking deaths, chaos. It’s just–“
“It’s a day, Robby. Too much in one day,” she replied, sending him a small smile.
He nodded, breathing harder now. “I just. Everyone expects us to fix things and sometimes I don’t know how to fix things.”
Y/N nodded. “You’re not supposed to fix everything, Robby,” she said gently. “But it’s ok to not be ok. We are doing our best. All of us.” Robby stared at her. “We aren’t superheroes. We aren’t God or whatever people believe in. We are just ER cowboys trying to win the rodeo,” she replied.
There was a long pause, and Robby looked like he might finally crack. His mouth opened but then Y/N’s face shifted.
Instantly, she grasped the wall as she clasped her stomach, holding it. Wincing, as she held her breath.
Robby watched her, eyes widening. “Y/N?” he asked, instantly, alarm.
Her brows furrowed as she continued to feel the intense cramps. “Fuck,” she whispered before shaking her head. “No, no, no, you do not get to do this.” Y/N bent over, both hands covering her stomach now.
Robby stepped closer, his voice soft but urgent. “Talk to me. What’s happening?”
Y/N glanced up at him, colour draining from her face. He said her name again, hand coming out to hold her, but instantly, she pushed past him. Robby turned, seeing her beginning to try her best with walking away.
“Y/N,” he tried, walking after her.
“I’m fine, go back to work,” she whispered, breathy.
He scoffed. “No, no. You’re not fine,” he said, trying to reach for her, but she pulled away.
She turned to him. “Fuck off and leave me alone,” she barked. “Do not follow me.”
Then she disappeared down the hall, leaving Robby standing here, pulse pounding in his ears.
He knew it. He knew exactly what was happening. And this time, he couldn’t fix it either.
-
1400
Y/N pushed the bathroom door open. She knew what was happening, biting down on her bottom lip, she closed the bathroom door, locking it. Sitting down on the toilet, she pulled her pants down and glanced at her underwear.
Instantly, her stomach turned. Instantly, a sob came from her. Instantly, she closed her eyes and lost it.
            Blood. So much blood.
            She was miscarrying.
Sitting there, she let it happen. She let everything happen. Y/N closed her eyes, sitting there on the toilet. Her pants were down, her hands were on her knees, and the tears just came. Y/N knew it was going to happen. It happened before. The chance of her getting pregnant was slim, but the chance of her carrying to term was even slimmer.
There was a piece of her that was hopeful. Bleeding can happen in pregnancy, and she was still in her first trimester, but as she opened her eyes again and looked at her underwear, she shook her head.
This was not light bleeding. Not even close. This was truly a miscarriage.
Y/N let the tears happen for minutes. She knew Robby would find her if she got spotted, but she couldn’t think about this right now.
She just had to let herself grieve in solitude.
Twenty-four hours. She had knowledge that she was pregnant for twenty-four hours. She found out around two o’clock the day prior and now it was just a little past two, and she was not pregnant anymore.
Y/N took deep breaths. Allowing herself to calm herself down. Cleaning her underwear and grabbing a sanitary pad from the bathroom, she fixed herself up at the mirror. She had to go on. Few more hours. Few more hours and she could go home.
Y/N knew Beckett wanted to come over today, but she couldn’t let him anymore. She needed to be alone. Tomorrow was her day off. She could wallow in her own pity or pretend it never happened.
            Then it hit her.
Jack. Her sweet, old man, Jack. He had no idea. Not a single clue what was going on.
There was no pregnancy anymore. There was no exciting news. There was no baby. There was no way she was going to tell him now.
He didn’t know about the last miscarriage. They weren’t together at the time. She had her last one at twenty-two. Eight years ago. A different partner at the time. A whole other world.
Y/N grasped the sink for a moment, wiping her tears before looking back up. She smiled, showed her teeth and then took a deep breath.
She needed to confirm the miscarriage. She needed proof.
Opening the door to the bathroom, she kept her head down, walking past everyone and making her way to the ultrasound machine that was standing by the nurses’ station. She grabbed it, wheeling it to Central 16. However, Robby watched her. Robby watched her with Dana next to him as Y/N tried to hide this from everyone.
Instantly, he pushed off the leaning post against the station and followed suit.
Y/N was in the trauma room, turning the ultrasound on while grabbing the gel, when the door opened.
“Lie down,” Robby whispered. “Let me,” he said.
Y/N turned her head, tear tear-stained face and reddened eyes. However, no more tears were thre. She froze for a second, gripping the ultrasound probe too tightly, knuckles white. The room was quiet, too quiet. The kind of silence that made everything echo, even your own breath.
Y/N stared at him, no words, just shook her head in a silent ‘no’. Robby stepped forward gently, hands raised as if he was approaching a wounded animal.
“Please, Ace,” he said softly. “Let me help.”
She blinked slowly; tears welled again but didn’t fall. Her voice was nearly gone. “I know how to use an ultrasound machine, Robby,” she responded.
“I know you can,” Robby replied. “But you shouldn’t have to do this. Not alone.”
Y/N’s lips trembled. Her fingers loosened around the probe before she let it drop onto the tray beside the machine. She didn’t say anything – just walked slowly over to the medical bed and laid back, legs still tense, arms folded across her chest.
Robby moved with care, grabbing a pair of gloves and setting up the ultrasound. He didn’t speak as he pulled, he pivacy curtain across the window and door. The room filled with a quiet hum of the machine warming up.
“This is just to check, ok?” he said. His voice was steady and careful. “I’m going to use a little pressure.”
She nodded without looking at him. Her jaw was clenched so tightly it hurt. Mind racing as she took deep breaths. Tucking her shirt up, she exposed her stomach to him.
Robby squirted the gel onto her lower abdomen and gently moved the probe into place. Y/N turned to look at the screen. Both of them did.
            Nothing.
He tilted the wand slightly, adjusted angles.
            Still nothing.
No heartbeat. No flicker. It was there yesterday, but today it was gone.
            The silence was deafening.
Robby’s voice dropped to a whisper. “I’m so sorry, Y/N…”
“Try transvaginally,” she whispered, staring at the screen. “It would be hard to see it as I’m so early. It’s more accurate.”
Robby stared at her for a moment, watching as she broke her eye contact from the screen to look at the man, she was so close with. When their eye’s met the hope that was in Y/N’s eyes, the sparkle, was long gone since this morning. She knew the answer, but she was science-based and needed to know.
“Ok,” he muttered, pulling the probe away.
“Get me something to drape myself,” she muttered, and Robby nodded, handing her a sheet from a cart in the corner.
Robby turned his back to her and Y/N pulled her pants down, underwear and all, before draping the sheet over her.
“I’m bleeding,” she whispered, warning him. “Vaginally,” she muttered added. “Because I’m–“
He nodded. “I know. It’s ok, Ace. I’ve got you.”
He didn’t look at her body. He didn’t even glance. He just handed her the internal probe and told her she needed to insert it herself. Y/N sat on the gurney, knees up, legs spread as she inserted it.
            “It’s in, Robby,” she whispered.
He nodded, finding the probe under the drape, his arm steadying on her knee, a comfort message as he looked back at the screen.
            Still nothing.
Just the hollow blackness of an empty gestational sac. No flicker. No movement. The image that meant life twenty-four hours ago was now confirmation of loss.
Y/N closed her eyes, breathing deeply through her nose. She didn’t cry. She didn’t even flinch. It was like her soul had gone quiet. Numb.
Robby slowly removed the probe and stepped back, carefully covering her again. He went to open his mouth to explain the next steps when it comes to having a miscarriage, but Y/N stopped him.
“Not my first rodeo, Cowboy,” she muttered with a hint of a joke, pulling her pants back up. “This is my third,” she casually said.
Robby stared at her. Hearing such a secret, the vulnerability of her words. “Have you and Jack gone through this before?” he asked. “Were you trying?”
She scoffed, shaking her head. “No and no. I was twenty-two last time. Then nineteen the first time,” she responded. Y/N was moving to sit on the edge of the medical bed, looking at Robby, who was staring at her like she was broken. “Don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what?” he whispered, brows furrowed.
“With pity,” she said. Then she took a deep breath. “Don’t tell Jack. Don’t ever tell Jack. Don’t ever bring it up to Jack. Jack will never know. Never ever know. This is my story. Not our story,” she said, words very deliberate and soft.
Robby’s brows furrowed, jaw tightening. “Y/N–“
“I’m fucking serious, Robby,” she snapped, eyes finally locking on this. “He’ll never know. You hear me? This is going with me to the grave.”
“He loves you, Ace. So much,” Robby said quietly, eyes soft but firm. “He deserves to know. He would want to know. I would want to know if we were together,” he said.
“But we aren’t,” she casually shrugged before glancing up at the ceiling. “Jack has had a hell of a life. So much loss. He doesn’t need this on top of it. He thought I couldn’t get pregnant. He made his peace with it. I don’t need to disrupt that.”
Robby crossed his arms over his chest. “It’s not good going through this alone,” he muttered.
She shook her head. “Well, sometimes there are things you do have to conquer alone,” she responded, jumping off the bed and looking at the chief of the ER. “Patient-Doctor confidentiality, Robby. I was your patient,” she said. “Don’t tell Jack.”
Robby swallowed, nodding. “Go home, Y/N,” he said, a little too sternly, a little too roughly. “Go home. We’ll cover you.”
She stared at him, crossing her arms. “I’m not dying, Robby. I’m miscarrying, I’m fine–“
            “You’re emotional,” he whispered.
Her head snapped to him. “Oh, fuck you, Robby,” she barked, shaking her head and walking to the door. “Burn the scan. Delete the images. This never happened,” she said. “Thank you, though, for being here for this minute.”
Robby didn’t say anything as she opened the trauma room door. He just watched her walk away with fire in her step and devastation in her eyes.
The minute the door clicked shut behind her, he ran a hand through his hair, then face through his beard and exhaled hard. This was the part of the job that hurt the most. Not the trauma, not the chaos. It was watching someone you love – really love – bleed silently and refuse to help.
            And Jack?
Jack would lose his fucking mind if he knew what just happened in this room.
Y/N went to the nurse’s station, sitting down and opening up the computer. Dana knew what was up. Robby mentioned Y/N tumbled in pain, and then she wheeled the ultrasound machine into the trauma room. She stayed silent for a moment, debating what to do with the young nurse who was pretending nothing happened.
She walked over, pulling a seat next to Y/N.
            “Talk to me,” Dana whispered.
“Rather not,” she replied, eyes focused on the screen. “But thank you for being like a mom to me,” she whispered. “Thank you for the support.”
“Always, sweetheart,” Dana hummed back, touching her shoulder, squeezing it. “But I’m here.”
Y/N nodded, halting her type before looking at Dana. “I’m going to give the same speech to you as I did to Robby. This is between us. Jack will never know. You hear me never know. Ever. It’s my story and I chose who gets to know,” she said quietly, voice sharp.
Dana nodded staring at her for a moment. “Of course.” Then Dana moved away from Y/N, knowing that hovering wasn’t going to benefit her at all.
-
Y/N instantly was on her feet when a child rolled in on a gurney. Paramedics announced she was a drowning victim. Y/N instantly grabbed gloves and hurried over.
“Amber Philips, six years old. Found at the bottom of a home pool with an unknown downtime. Asystole on the monitor,” the paramedics called out as Y/N hurried alongside them.
“Intubated with a cuffed 4.5, 22-gauge left AC, 0.25 epi three minutes ago,” another called out.
Y/N grasped the underlying sheet, as someone counted down before they moved the child from the gurney to the medical bed. Instantly, she was back to herself, grabbing supplies and working around the doctors.
“Whitaker, take over compressions,” Robby called out before looking up. “Any family coming in?”
“Grandma and little sister,” a paramedic called out.
            “Fast and deep,” Collin’s stated.
Whitaker began doing compressions as Mel stepped in with her stethoscope. “She’s really cold.”
Y/N heard that, knowing what that meant and nodded, already going to work before Robby could say anything.
“Ace, get a core temp,” he called out.
            “On it already,” she replied.
“Good breath sounds bilaterally,” Mel called out.
“Should we use the Lucas?” Whitaker asked.
“No, she’s way too small for that,” Collin’s replied.
Y/N was grabbing her temperature, brows furrowed. “Rectal temp only 85.” Y/N shook her head. “Kid’s got moderate hypothermia,” she stated. Robby glanced at Y/N who was deep into her work.
“Yeah,” he stated, nodding. “We need to get her up to 90 if we have any chance of restarting her heart.”
            They all nodded.
“250 ccs heated saline. Set up the Arctic Sun. Continuous core temp monitoring, and prep another epi 0.25,” Collins called out, and Y/N instantly went to work grabbing the supplies and things needed.
Robby just stood there, looking at Y/N. “Robby, if you keep staring, I will throttle you,” Y/N muttered, walking around him.
He then nodded, out of his daze. “Yup,” he muttered, looking back at the patient.
They continued to work on the patient, trying their best to bring her back. Y/N tried not to think that there was a little girl on the table, someone’s daughter.
Grandma came in, sitting next to Amber.
“She wasn’t breathing, so the medics put a tube in her throat,” Robby whispered to the grandmother.
“She’s so cold,” Frances, the grandmother, called out, scared.
“We’re warming her up. That way, she’ll have a better chance to respond to the medicines,” Robby explained, looking back at Y/N who refused to look him in the eye.
“They moved a bench next to the pool fence so they could go over, because their soccer ball went in the water. Amber couldn’t make it out of the deep end. The gate was locked. I was vacuuming. I didn’t hear them,” Frances muttered, holding onto her granddaughter as she sniffed and sighed.
Y/N’s heart broke hearing that, but she couldn’t think of that right now. She had a job to do.
The parents came in soon after. Y/N watched them as the mother came to hold her daughter. Y/N swallowed.
“Rhythm check. Hold compressions,” Collins called out.
Whitaker took a step back. But the machine was flat lining.
            “Asystole. Resume compressions,” Collins ordered.
Whitaker went back to CPR while Y/N held the breathing bag.
“Three minutes since the last epi,” Y/N said.
            “Push another,” Collins replied.
“Did you shock the heart?” the mother asked, glancing up.
“Uh, no,” Robby replied, calmly, lowly.
“Why…why didn’t you shock the heart?” the mother asked, words desperate and confused. “We’ve got to save her. You’ve got to shock the heart.”
“Heart rhythm right now is flatlining. That’s not treatable with a shock. We’re trying to get the rhythm to change to something we can shock by warming her up,” Robby replied, voice quite and low.
“Ok. So, we’ve got to warm up. You’ve got to get some more blankets in here or something,” the mother rambled.
“We are giving her warm IV fluids, and you can feel these blue pads. They have warm water running through them like a hot tub,” Robby muttered.
“Are you sure you’re doing everything?” the mother asked, quietly.
            “Yes, we are,” Robby confirmed.
Robby’s eyes went back to Y/N, who glanced up to see him. He was just staring her, and Y/N took a deep breath and dodged his eyes.
They continued longer trying to bring back this little girl. Y/N didn’t try to think of the situation but rather the job that needed to be done. Whitaker continued to do chest compressions, warm saline went through her veins and Y/N helped with getting oxygen into her.
“Core temp is 88,” she spoke up. Slowly it was climbing.
“Is that good?” the dad spoke up, looking around the room.
“It’s up from 85 on her arrival, so we’re headed in the right direction,” Collins spoke up.
Robby was hovering, arms crossed as he walked around the room. His eyes were on the little girl, then Collins, before jumping back to Y/N, who remained emotionless.
“You hear that, Amber?” the mother spoke. “It’s better,” she said between breaths as she ran her hand through her daughter’s hair. “You’re getting better.”
“I need to step out for a second. You’re in good hands,” Robby whispered, looking at the parents. “Come find me when it’s over 90,” he whispered to Collins before leaving the room.
Eventually the core temperature got to 91. Robby was back in the room, glancing at monitors. Mateo was on the bag down helping her breathe while Y/N stood with her arms crossed.
“Can you shock the heart now?” the dad asked.
“91 is warm enough for her heart to respond,” Robby muttered, still looking at the monitors.
“Hold compressions,” Collins addressed. Whitaker stopped and the machine flatlines. Y/N walked to the phone to hear the results of the labs.
            “Asystole,” Mel whispered.
            “Resuming compressions.”
Listening to it, her face fell, nodding. She hung up, placing the phone back on the wall before turning to the crowd. She took a breath. “Potassium levels are back,” she said.
Robby looked at her, raising a brow.
“12.2,” she breathed, knowing what it meant. Her eyes looked over the crowd as Robby walked over, bending down next to the family.
Y/N’s heart broke, looking over to the girl on the table. Seeing her small frame, her lifeless, small frame and sighed. Another death. Another death on this day.
“No one has ever survived a cardiac arrest with a potassium over 11. There is absolutely no chance of recovery,” Robby said, voice low, calm and soft. He took a breath. “I am so sorry. Amber has died.”
Y/N instantly glanced down, biting down on her bottom lip.
“Before we stop, do you think her sister would like a chance to say goodbye?”
“No,” the dad responded, shaking his head. “Uh, Bella shouldn’t see her like this.”
“Ok,” Robby replied, sending a solid nod. “You can stay in here for as long as you like. We are going to stop now,” he told them.
The mother was hysterical. Y/N couldn’t blame her. She just lost a child. Her child. A daughter who barely lived. So small, so young. Y/N lost a child today, and it might not have been the same as the mother, but it was still a child.
Robby met Y/N’s eyes, and he saw her expression. His head nodded to the door and she nodded back, quietly excusing herself from the room.
Y/N walked right outside the trauma ward into the ambulance bay. The sun was shining, the wind was soft, and it was just a beautiful day. A beautiful September day, but it was such a fucking shitty day. She leaned against the wall, taking a deep breath and staring in front of her.
“Fuck, I want a cigarette,” she muttered. “Just one fucking cigarette.”
However, she could hear Jack’s words in her brain scolding her for pumping poison into her lungs. His words would be so simple “Dove, rather you talk to me than take your stress out through inhaling toxins.”
If that was so fucking simple. If everything was so fucking simple.
She had no idea how long she had been there for, but she saw Nick Bradley’s body being wheeled out on a gurney to the ambulance bay to be transported for organ donation. She missed the memory walk. However, Y/N didn’t move. She stayed put, glancing ahead.
Dana, Collins and Robby came out to see the ambulance leave. Y/N stayed put, not saying a word, not even looking at them. Instead, just stared ahead. Her arms were crossed, then she glanced down at her shoes, seeing the stains from the job. Her cardigan was gone. Just the long-sleeved cheetah print she had under the lighter scrubs. Y/N pulled the band from her hair, letting it fall over her shoulder. Long, thick locks that cascaded in perfect waves.
Robby spotted her by the doors, about three metres from them. Her back against the wall, just staring. He debated whether or not to walk over. Would she be down to talk? Would she even want to talk?
He lingered, hands on his hips, watching her, hus head straight then a slight tilt he did whenever he was thinking too hard. Collins and Dana exchanged a glance, one that said, “leave it to Robby” before heading back in through the double doors, the hush of grief following them.
Robby waited a beat longer. Then walked over.
He didn’t say anything at first. Just stood beside her, leaning back against the same wall, crossing his arms. His shoulders brushed hers, but she didn’t move. Instead, her head came, leaning over to his shoulder.
Her eyes remained forward, lips pressed together and jaw tight. She swallowed hard before she took a deep breath.
Robby didn’t know what to say.
“You missed the walk,” he said after the moment, voice low.
            “I know.”
            “He was your patient.”
She was silent for a moment, then a small, “I know,” came. Nothing else came from her, instead, she just moved her head to get deeper into the crook of his neck.
Robby’s hand came, grasping her hand as their hands entwined. “I’m here,” he whispered.
She nodded. “I know.” He went to open his mouth. “Don’t tell me to go home. Please don’t. That’s the last place I want to be.”
            He said nothing, stayed quiet.
“You’re a good man, Michael,” she whispered. “A really good man. Who deserves so much. Happiness, peace, solitude and a fair life,” she mumbled. “I’m thankful for you. I’m grateful you’re in my life.” Then she breathed. “I’ll always have love for you,” she whispered, looking down. “But this job,” she muttered and took a deep breath in, “slowly degrades you. Burns brain cells. Eats your blood count. Destroys your faith.”
“I know,” he replied. “You’ve had a day.”
She stayed quiet for a brief second before pulling away and looking up to his six-foot frame. “No, we are having a day. Not just me.”
He nodded. “Yeah, pretty fucking shitty. But this is what we do.”
Y/N nodded in silence before looking back in front of her. “I should tell Jack, right?” she whispered.
“Yeah, you should.” She nodded, reaching for her phone but he stopped her hand. “This is something to do in person, Y/N. I would like to hear it in person. Not due to selfish needs, but because I would want to hold you while you told me. Wipe your tears. Hold your hand. Caress your hair and whisper ‘it’s going to be ok’.” Y/N met his eyes, and he saw how broken they were. “I would tell you how much I love you. I would ask what you’d want next. Then I’d run you a bath, get in with you and hold you. I’d whisper sweet nothings, delivering kisses along your skin as I rub your stomach. Then we’d go to bed, and I’d hold you all night.”
Y/N stared at him. They said nothing for moments. Just stared at one another. Their hands were still entwined together.
Then she took a long, deep breath. “A lot of death today,” she mumbled.
            “I agree.”
She broke her gaze from him and looked ahead. “It’s been officially like a hundred days of me not smoking. I stress smoke. Since I was eleven, and stole them from my mother. I might light one or two, or a whole packet,” she muttered. Then she took another breath. “Jack found me last time. I’d got news that my mom was ok. She was missing from her housing facility. She was missing for two weeks. Found,” she let out a chuckle, “at our old shit box home. We lived in it till I was ten before we got evicted. She was pregnant with Beckett at the time. We moved into my Nana’s. Beckett was born not soon after,” she mumbled. He looked at her, listening but then she shook her head. “Doesn’t matter. I just want a fucking cigarette, and I can hear Jack’s brooding, grumpy old man voice in the back of my head lecturing me.” She met his eyes. “Don’t lecture me, Cowboy,” she joked with a small smile. “I bet you have vices to deal with your shit.”
He smirked, chuckling. “Hey, we work in the ER, the ways we cope can’t be judged.” Though he winked at her, and she raised a brow. “I can’t give you a cigarette as I don’t smoke and I know Jack would throttle me if he found out. But,” he hummed, digging into his pocket, “I have a mint.”
Y/N stared at the mint he had. The peppermint, one that brought a smile to her face. “That’s from the staff room.”
            He nodded. “Yes, it is.”
She then sent a small smile. “Jack, before we started dating, would hand me a mint from the staff room whenever I had a bad case. He would say something like, ‘the burning would distract you’. We’d sit on the rooftop. Talk about anything. Well, he was my boss, so I didn’t know what to talk about. So, we’d talk about common things, which usually was how bad the coffee in the break room was and how I had a conspiracy that the sandwiches from the cafeteria were recycled from the university and from frozen. I was awkward with him.”
Robby glanced at her. He had one thought – if she wasn’t on night shifts for two years and on days instead, would they have had months like this…leading to a life together.
“I didn’t know that,” he said gently.
“Jack’s not a talker,” she responded. “Now he is. Not a yapper, but like the type to express his wants and needs bluntly.”
Robby chuckled. “Yeah, best mates we are,” he hummed.
Y/N nodded. “Oh, I know. You two trade tools, talk about trucks and bond over building things from scratch.”
Robby chuckled. “I did pressure wash your rancher home this past summer,” he mumbled. “And your Bronco.”
Y/N chuckled. “Jack has threatened me that if I continue to keep my Bronco a mess from all my trash, shit and life, I will be sleeping in the guest room.”
Robby chuckled, nodding. “Yeah, he’s a military man. Organisation, clean, sleek,” he muttered.
Y/N rolled her eyes. “I’m right now banned from his truck because I spilt my Starbucks in it last week and plus left my shit in it. But it wasn’t shit. It was like a claw clip, a lipgloss, a tide pen, an old coffee mug and my panties,” she muttered, and Robby raised a brow.
“Panties?”
“We went on a walk, and I ended up swimming in my undergarments, so I took them off in the car while he gave me his shirt. I forgot to bring in my lake-soaked panties. Classic Jack is like ‘Dove, the truck isn’t a purse’ and ‘Your chaotic gremlin energy does not belong in the truck. Truck is sacred’,” she muttered with a chuckle while doing a grumpy Jack impression. “Now, when we have to go anywhere, he demands we drive my car when we have three other cars on the property, but he complains they are ‘collectors’. Then he goes on about the mess. Whatever…”
Robby rolled his eyes in laughter. “You’re a chaotic girl,” he muttered. “And a chaotic gremlin.”
“No, I’m spicy. Unique. Different. Keep you on your toes type of girl,” she responded. Then she smirked. “But, I’ll accept gremlin.”
Robby nodded. “You know it was love at first sight with him,” he mumbled.
Y/N heard him, heart fluttering for a moment before shaking her head. “No, it wasn’t. When we met, he was emotionally shut down. Still grieving his late wife. I was this chaotic thunderstorm who entered the ER at twenty-two, who questioned the way he charted and his brooding demeanour.” Then she chuckled. “The first year, it was just professional, but I also mainly worked with you Robby on days. I moved to nights because of the premium rates and then gradually, he started to challenge me, teach me new things. After one hard case, he came over and crashed on my couch. Then he started to crash every shift we had together and then he was sleeping in my bed. We were just friends. He never touched me or flirted with me. Then one day, I just kissed him. Somehow, I did it on the rooftop and then…magic. Six years later, four dogs, a mortgage on a rancher on an acre of land by the edge of a city, a Bronco he bought for me, paid off my debt, paying my brother’s university and endless camping trips where I complain about shitting in a hole and sleeping on the floor.” She took a breath. “Why me? I ask every day. Why me? Because I’m far from perfect. Childhood trauma. Addict Mother. Dad,” she breathed, “dad, who has a whole other family. A half-brother who’s my world. And so many stories I’m not proud of but had to do to survive.” Then she shook her head. “He doesn’t know it all. I keep so much because he’s Jack. Old-fashioned, but still progressive, the type who,” she looked over to Robby and whispered, “makes sure a teenage girl gets an abortion. Brooding, strict, blunt, but so kind, deliberate, gentle and patient. The type who makes two of everything when he makes a coffee, or a lunch, because he wants to ensure I’m taken care of. The one who takes care of everything, so I don’t have to worry. Lectures me on letting the dogs on the bed or spending 7$ on a coffee.” Then she let out a loud cackle. “The man who hates my mother but still supports her housing. Buys her groceries for her with me. Comes with me to check on her and didn’t get mad when I was hiding that I was sending her money from our account.”
Robby stayed quiet, knowing she didn’t need a response.
“I’m so incredibly happy,” she whispered. “I made my own happiness. Becoming a guardian to Beckett at nineteen, raising him when my mother couldn’t, supporting myself and him while I attended school, going to university, becoming a nurse…getting Winston. But he came, and it was just like, ‘yeah, I’m good now. Don’t need anything else’. But,” she breathed, “a baby.”
Robby glanced over but her eyes were focused on a rock on the ground. She didn’t say anything for a few seconds. Moments. He knew she was thinking of the best way to say it. Her brain was going over every word in her brain.
“I was a mother,” she eventually said,” I am a mother.”
            Robby’s brows furrowed.
“I became a mother at fourteen when mom went on a bender for two weeks. Gone, came back for her shift and then fucked off forever. I had a four-year-old brother. I had no choice,” she muttered. “Fuck,” she scoffed. “How am I alive? With her as my mother. Fuck knows. But Beck is mine. He is my child. He’s my son,” she whispered. “Jack sees him as a son. He takes care of him. For me. For us. For him. But also, because he’s Jack,” she muttered as tears came.
Then everything hit. Memories she shut out from her childhood. Moments she didn’t know ever existed. Situations she hid from herself. Tears began to come down her cheeks.
“Jack can know about this,” she eventually muttered. “But he can’t know all of me. Of everything I’ve done to be here today to be with him because he wouldn’t understand it.”
Robby didn’t interrupt. He let her sit in that silence, let the tears fall. One thing Y/N taught him was active listening and how beneficial it was. But it was so rare to see Y/N like this, how she talked like this. Her truth that isn’t jokes, humour, and smirks. Her world was beautiful now, he knew that. But the way she spoke broke him internally. But this wasn’t a moment for laughter, but rather her talking about a grief that suited her.
She sniffled hard and swiped her cheeks with the sleeve under her scrub top. “He wouldn’t understand it,” she whispered again, quieter this time. “He’s ex-military…we are survivors in different ways, but I don’t understand his trauma, and he wouldn’t understand mine. But he’s good. He’s cleaner in ways I never was. Sure, he may have combat fought and saw shit. But, never had to,” she shook her head, “never mind. He’s a good man and I needed him, and I thank the universe everyday for us.”
            Robby nodded.
“But I want a baby,” she whispered. “I realized it in the last twenty-four hours, and I can’t have a baby, Robby. But it doesn’t make sense for us to have a baby. He’s forty-nine. We are workaholics. I still love a good party. I smoke if Jack doesn’t catch me, drink like an Irishman at a pub and dance like it’s 1999,” she said as she stared ahead. “Beckett was my baby. He was my baby, and I became a mother at fourteen,” she whispered, voice cracking. “I think I just realised that.” She scoffed. “I have to be his mother because ours is a piece of fucking shit.”
Robby swallowed thickly, chest tight, watching her unravel, not in chaos, but in clarity. A trust she hadn’t spoken aloud, maybe not even to herself.
He pulled her closer to his side, holding her. “Yeah,” he whispered. A piece of him would want to say I would give you everything, but he knew Jack already did. “Beckett is yours. Might be a adult now–“
“Don’t remind me,” she muttered. “He went to Jack two weeks ago for advice on oral sex.”
Robby snickered, rolling his eyes. “You’re a good mom to him, Ace. You’ve done a good damn job.”
Y/N looked at him, and he looked at her. “You’re a good man, Michael. In another life, I’d give you what you wanted,” she whispered, and he nodded.
            “In another life, Ace.”
Then she scoffs. “God, I’m turning into an intern or a med student, crying in the ambulance bay,” she muttered before letting out a loud, real laugh.
Robby smirked. “Welcome to the club. Took you long enough. They meet daily. Dana brings them muffins.”
She glared at him. “I’m a nurse, not a goddamn med student. Crying is for the weak,” she barked but then smirked.
“So judgmental, the rookies need to feel, Ace.”
Their eyes were still looking at one another. “Do you think Jack would be mad if I didn’t tell him right away? Tell him when I’m ok?”
Robby shook his head. “I would be ok with that,” he whispered but then sighed. “But Jack, he’d wouldn’t be mad, he’d be upset that you went through this alone.”
She nodded. “He would say his classic line. I literally have a quote diary for him,” she muttered with a smile. “He would say,” she began and looked at Robby, clearing her throat for her best Jack impression, “it’s in the diary, ‘Dove…I’m not mad. I’m disappointed.’ Then he would be like, ‘Not in you, but in me. That I wasn’t there, but also that you went through this alone,’ isn’t that a Jack saying.” She smirked, proud of herself. Robby stared at her for a moment before nodding and chuckling.
            “You’re right on point, Ace.”
“God, I know. I’ve been practising,” she hummed, smirking and sending him a wink and nudging his shoulder. “Anyway,” she whispered moments later. “You’re the Chief, fuck off and save lives.”
He looked at her again and nodded. “You right?” he asked, nudging her.
She looked at him for a moment, finding her words then broke in a smile. “I need a bloody case.”
            “Don’t jinx it.”
“I need them alive. But like a good adrenaline rush. Earlier, when you let me do that intubation,” she hummed, nudging him again, “convincing me to join the daylight?”
“You were moved to day shifts ten days ago,” he stated nonchalantly.
“So, I can always change. You are on salary, me…well, hourly.” Then she smirked. “I love you, Cowboy, but like, you need to convince me to stay on the day. Jack lets me do way more on our shift.”
He raised a brow, “It’s day. I can’t let you play being a doctor,” he stated. “Hate to break it to you, Ace, but you have a BSN, not an MD.”
“Well, fuck you too, Robby.”             They stayed silent for moment. Then she smiled. “Hey, Cowboy?”
            “Yeah?”
“Thanks for the mint,” she said with a smile, holding up the wrapper like a prize. “It helped. But not like a cigarette though.”
He chuckled. “Well, if you stay on days, I’ll buy you a pack and store it in my locker for when you need them. But you can only smoke between 8am-6pm before Jack comes.”
She smirks. “Marlboro lights, Cowboy. Take notes,” she hummed, winking.
He nodded as she dropped her hold. “Locked in mind, Ace,” he hummed, smirking.          She nodded. “Go, save lives. I’ll be there in two.”
He nodded, kissing the side of her temple before squeezing her arm and walking away. For a second, he paused, turning on his toes to look at her. “I may be good friends with Jack, but talk to me, ok? We are friends.”
She smirked. “More than friends. Great friends, Cowboy. I’ll call you if I need you,” she muttered then lowered her voice, “better fucking do it to me if you need me.”
He stared at her, mouth dropping a second before nodding. “Affirmative.”
She smirked, watching him walk away. “That’s my saying!” she called out.

15 Minutes
Natasha Romanoff x Reader*
18+ only, read at your own risk
Word count: 2430
Requested by abyss anon (and other anons): here me out. i've been listening to 15 minutes by sabrina carpenter and the lyrics “i can do a lot with fifteen minutes, only gonna take two to make you finish” is stuck in my head.
what if masc!r with innocent!shy!nat who is completely and utterly inlove with reader but too afraid to make a move? and when she finally does... *wink* but we all know baby natty is going to make up for it all night.
AN: This basically became pure filth with like a sprinkle of plot so...enjoy!
*Reader has a penis, no pronouns used.
The first time Natasha met you, she knew she was in love with you. Which really sucked for her because you were the type of person who didn’t look at her twice. You were constantly surrounded by people who were prettier, better, and more important than her. Natasha felt so insignificant around you, and whenever she tried to make her presence known, it always ended in a colossal and embarrassing failure.
She had exactly three conversations with you. The first was just an exchange of names, so she didn’t count that. But it was the first time she got to touch your hand and look into your eyes, and she almost physically fell for you right there.
The second conversation was at the dining hall’s salad bar, where the two of you had reached for the tongs to the romaine at the same time. You had insisted she go first, and Natasha had tried to make a joke about lettuce that fell so short it kept her up for three nights.
The third conversation took place on a basketball court, where you were playing a scrimmage with a few friends. Natasha emboldened herself to approach, which she immediately regretted when you passed her the ball and asked if she could sink a shot from the three-point line. She stumbled through a pickup line about if you could show her, but you and your friends had only laughed. Naturally, she had missed, and she went home in shame, promising to never speak to you in front of others again.
She always told herself that if she had 15 minutes alone with you, she could get you to give her a chance. But getting those 15 minutes was an impossible task in itself.
Or so she thought.
She finds you sitting alone in the common room, staring at the television, but you hardly look interested in the James Bond movie playing.
Fifteen.
“Y/N?” Natasha whispers. Your head shifts in her direction, but you don’t say anything to acknowledge her. “Is anyone sitting with you?” You grunt, which Natasha cannot determine as a definitive yes or no. “Can I sit with you?” She holds her breath, surprised by her own confidence but fully expecting a denial.
“Sure,” you say, to her shock.
Natasha rounds the couch. You make no effort to move and she settles on the cushion next to you.
Fourteen.
She isn’t sure what to say next. You seem incredibly absorbed in the movie, and she’s nervous to break your focus.
“Natasha,” you say, still not looking at her. “That’s your name, right?”
“Yes.”
“It’s a pretty name. For a pretty woman.”
Natasha’s heart thunders in her chest. Did she hear you correctly? “You think I’m pretty?” she asks.
“I think you’re beautiful.” You look her in the eye now, and Natasha has to catch herself before she falls off the couch.
“I…Um…Wow. Thank you. That’s…really nice of you to say,” she stammers.
“I’m not just saying it. I mean it.”
Thirteen.
Natasha stares at you, trying to read your passive expression. Maybe you were just messing with her, or took a bet from your friends to flirt with her. No one–not even Bruce–wanted her. So why would you?
“You’re especially cute when you’re nervous,” you say.
“Nervous? I’m not–”
You chuckle. “I know the effect I have on you. And most people. But I hardly notice any of them when you’re around me.”
Natasha feels like she’s in a dream. Are you really saying these words to her? And you mean every one of them? She pinches her thigh, but the sting doesn’t do much to clear her head. “I’ve wanted you since the moment I saw you,” she admits in a rush.
“Is that so?” Your right eyebrow lifts and Natasha squeezes her thighs together subtly. “I never approached you first because…well, I didn’t think you’d be able to handle me.”
Twelve.
Natasha leans forward, resting her hand lightly on your upper thigh. She’s determined to prove you wrong if that’s the only thing she succeeds in tonight. “And what makes you think that?”
Your expression changes to one of surprise. “You’re cute, but way too innocent–” The words die in your throat when her hand slides up to cup the bulge in your sweatpants.
“You were saying?” she says, turning her voice into a huskier tone.
“Natasha,” you grunt, and she can tell you’re fighting to keep your hips pinned to the couch, “Don’t start something you can’t finish.”
“I don’t plan on it.” She grips onto you and wonders if the fabric is thin enough for you to feel the heat of her palm.
“Someone can walk in at any moment,” you warn her.
“Good. Then they can see you’ve always been mine the whole time.” She feels you twitch and start to harden. She wonders if she can get you off with her words alone, but quickly decides she’d much rather have you inside her instead.
Eleven.
“I didn’t take you for an exhibitionist,” you comment.
“What do you know about me? Besides my name,” she counters.
“That you’re awful at flirting–oh shit.” Natasha pushes her hand past the waistband of your sweatpants and it closes around your hot and hard flesh. She rubs you up and down, her thumb brushing the underside of your tip with every stroke and she grins when she starts to see your thighs tremble. “You ever done this before?” you gasp, your hips rocking off the couch to push yourself through her hand.
“You tell me, baby.”
You grunt at the term of endearment. “Not quite what I expected from you,” you say.
“In a good or bad way?”
“Hmm, well…” You look down at your crotch, frowning because you can’t see any of the action under your sweatpants. Natasha uses her free hand and tugs them down, and you lift your butt up to slide them to your knees. Your cock bobs out and Natasha subconsciously licks her lips, knowing she is that much closer to having you the way she always dreamed of. “Are you gonna keep staring at it or do something with it?” you ask suddenly.
Ten.
“I don’t want you finishing too early,” Natasha says, right as a bead of pre-cum leaks out of your dick.
“I won’t,” you say, although for once, your voice lacks confidence.
“I bet you can’t last two minutes in me.”
Your eyes narrow at the challenge. “And what if I can?”
“Then I’ll let you take me back to your room and fuck me any way you want.”
You inhale sharply at the filthy thoughts her words inspire.
“But if you can’t…” Natasha squeezes your cock for emphasis, “Then I get take you to my room and fuck you any way I want.”
You snort. “That’s not really a bad deal either way.”
“You’ve hardly seen what I can do,” Natasha warns.
“So show me more.”
Nine.
“Be careful what you wish for.” Natasha leans over and takes the head of your cock in her mouth.
“Goddamn,” you mutter, pumping your hips up into the new heat of her mouth. You had severely misjudged Natasha in her innocence, but you weren’t upset to be wrong. Her tongue flicks against your tip and you’re practically squirming in your seat when she presses down and takes you into her throat.
“Fuck, your mouth feels good,” you pant, your hands coming to the back of Natasha’s head and gently pushing on it to keep her in place. “This is hardly fair,” you whine.
Natasha releases your cock and it slaps against your stomach, glistening with her saliva and your pre-cum. “You want me to stop?” she asks.
“Not really.”
Eight.
“Then be quiet,” she says, and her dominance surprises you. It also makes you even harder, which you didn’t know was possible at this stage anymore. “Besides, we aren’t even at the main event yet.”
“Main event?” You have to bite your lip to distract yourself as her mouth descends on you again. You squeeze the muscles in your thighs to keep them grounded, not wanting to show her how close you are.
“Mhmm,” she mumbles around your cock, and the vibrations have you holding on the couch cushions for dear life. The pounding between your legs heightens, spurred on by the fact that the prettiest girl around has her head in your lap, her mouth bobbing frantically up and down your dick.
Seven.
“You’re cheating,” you whine, but you totally love it as you jog your hips up a few times.
“I’m what?” Natasha draws back fully and the cold air that hits your cock makes it visibly twitch.
“Ugh, fuck,” you mutter. “Never mind, baby. Just put your mouth back and–”
“No,” Natasha says, and you shrink back into the cushions just a little. Maybe you should have kept your mouth shut like she said. “I can tell you’re about to cum, and I don’t want you finishing in my mouth.”
“Oh.” Somehow, despite every skill she’s just showed you, you’re surprised she won’t swallow. But you won’t hold it against her. She’s already doing better than most of the girls that sleep with you.
Six.
Natasha leans towards your face, her lips brushing your cheek on her way to your ear. “I want you to finish in my pussy,” she whispers, and the words alone nearly send you over the edge.
“Oh.” You don’t even realize you’ve reached down to grip the base of your cock, squeezing hard to quite literally prevent yourself from finishing all over your sweatpants.
“But…I don’t know if you can last that much longer,” Natasha says, pulling away from you.
“Yes, yes, I can,” you plead. You would do everything in your power to please and if you couldn’t…what was really the worst that could happen?
“Hmm.” Natasha tilts her head, as if seriously contemplating ending things with you right here.
Five.
“You started this,” you protest. “You can’t leave me hanging.” Literally.
“I didn’t expect you to be so whiny,” she says.
“I didn’t expect you to be this mean,” you counter.
Natasha chuckles. “And you’re the one who said I couldn’t handle you.”
“Yeah, yeah,” you say, happy to eat your words if she’ll ride you. Natasha stands up, and for a moment you think she’s going to walk out on you, but she shimmies down her jeans and you drool at the sight of her lacey red panties. You drop your sweatpants to your ankles so you have more room to move as Natasha swings her leg over your waist.
Four.
You can see the damp patch of her arousal and it hardens you further to see she’s just as excited as you are.
“Two minutes,” she says, humping you slowly.
“Easy,” you promise, but you already know you’re going to lose. You reach for her hips, happy that she doesn’t swat you away, and pull her towards yourself until her stomach presses against your cock.
At first, you had been genuinely concerned that someone would walk in on the two of you, but now you couldn’t care less. You were about to get with the Natasha Romanoff, someone your friends had told you would be untouchable.
Your hands wrap around to her butt and squeeze teasingly. “I’m ready for you,” you remind her, as if she forgot what she was supposed to be doing.
Three.
“I can see that.” She reaches down to grab your cock and drags it along the wet patch of her panties. You groan and dig your fingers harder into her butt. She was far more of a tease than you had ever imagined.
“Come on, baby,” you beg as your cock rubs against the smooth fabric of her panties.
Natasha pulls her panties to the side to reveal her glistening center. Your eyes widen and your hips jerk up to brush through her wetness. She puts one hand on her shoulder to steady herself and uses the other to finger herself. The slick noises she makes are downright sinful and you’re practically vibrating with excitement.
“Let me,” you say, eager to get any part of you inside her and trying to replace her fingers with your own.
“I think I’m ready,” she says, lifting herself up high enough to position the head of your cock with her opening.
Two.
Both of you inhale sharply at the first contact. You’re certain you’ve left your marks on Natasha’s butt as she slowly sinks down, taking your entire length in her molten heat.
“Fuck, oh, fuck,” you gasp as you feel yourself twitching inside of her. Natasha rests on your thighs and rocks back and forth. A moan rips out of your throat and your head falls back on the couch. The tightness surrounding your cock is too much.
“Don’t let me down,” Natasha teases, raising a few inches and falling back down again. Her hand slips around your throat possessively, but even that isn’t enough to bring you back from the brink.
Your bodies move together in a calm rhythm that does not match the emotions racing inside of you. While part of you wants to jackhammer into her like an animal, part of you also wants this feeling to last as long as possible.
Which, to be perfectly honest, wasn’t going to be more than another minute.
“Do I feel good?” Natasha whispers, threading her fingers in your hair and pulling your head back so you have to look her in the eye as she fucks you.
“You feel perfect,” you grunt, your lower body starting to shake, but you give up trying to fight it off.
One.
“You’re lasting longer than I thought,” she hums, clenching around you with the tightness of a vice and you arch your chest into her, slipping your hands under her shirt to clutch at the warmth of her skin.
“Not for much longer,” you admit, feeling a thin layer of sweat forming on your forehead. The band in your stomach finally snaps and your thighs lock in place as you spill your seed into her, but hardly feeling relieved. Natasha circles her hips to coax out every last drop, leaving you shaking and begging her to stop.
“I think I won our bet,” she says, finally climbing off your cock.
“Whatever,” you mutter, your cheeks tinged red.
“I want to claim my prize now,” she continues, pulling her jeans back on and offering you her hand.
You don’t protest and go to follow her back to her room.

Sam would be lying if he said that his favorite time of day was anything other than mornings spent with you.
It’s always the same exact routine, and yet neither of you will ever get tired of it.
You feel Sam’s bare chest on your back, you feel his arms squeeze your middle as to let you know that he’s awake, and that for some reason he can sense that you are too.
You stay like that for a while, a lot of the time, you just stay in complete and utter silence, taking the moment in.
There’s a dim light left from the night before, coming from the nightstand behind Sam.
You let out a content sigh, before Sam speaks.
‘Morning, beautiful.’ He lays his lips on your cheek, and kisses you softly, just in time for you to turn around, and end up in his chest.
‘Hi.’ Your arms go around his body, and you look up.
‘You talk in your sleep.’ Sam whispers to you.
‘No I don’t.’ You look at him with confusion, and a bit of amusement.
‘You so do. You snore too.’
‘Now you’re just lying for fun!’ You unhook your arms from his body and slap his chest.
Sam laughs, and it’s your favorite sound.
You laugh too, while smiling at him, and Sam swears that he sees an entire future or mornings just like this. You by his side, laughing and making jokes, staying warm in each other’s embrace.
‘What?’ You interrupt Sam’s train of thoughts.
‘What?’
‘It’s rude to stare, you know?’ You raise your brows at him.
‘I’m rude then. I like staring at you.’
‘Oh yeah?’ You get closer to him if that’s even possible.
Sam raises his hand to lay in your hair.
‘Hmm.’ He looks at you and suddenly your heart stops.
Sam looks at you like you’re the only good thing in this world- you’re not a saint by any means- but to him? You’re the most interesting being to ever walk earth.
After so long, he’s still trying to figure you out- he doesn’t mind, and he knows that you like to play with that.
‘Sam, seriously. What?’ You let out another laugh, and put a hand over your mouth to suppress it.
‘I just- I can’t believe you’re mine.’ Sam says, and your eyes light up.
‘Well, you better get used to it.’ You kiss him.
It’s tender, it’s sweet, and it’s full of love. Sam will never get used to it. He’ll never get used to waking up next to you every morning, to hearing you say ‘I love you’ or to you never leaving his side even when he fucks up.
Both of you smile in the kiss, before sam breaks it.
You’re left with a pout, and let out a small ‘hey.’
Sam pushes your shoulder down so you lay on your back, and he’s suddenly on top of you.
‘You know, I read somewhere not long ago, that morning sex increases your chances of having a good day. More energy and all.’ Sam says, a small smile dancing on his lips, his hands tracing patterns over each side of your body.
‘Oh yeah? Where’d you read that exactly?’ You bite your lip.
Sam pretends to think before saying ‘You know, morning journal probably.’
‘Is that so?’
‘Yep.’ He then leaves a trail of kisses over your jaw and your neck.
‘You know, if you wanna have sex with me, you can just say so.’ You once again raise your brows at him.
‘Fine. I really, really wanna have sex with you. If you’d let me.’
You both burst out laughing feeling like two stupid teenagers.
Sam kisses you again interrupting your laughter. It’s more passionate, more fiery, it’s needier. It’s like a huge explosion, suddenly his hands are all over you, your hands grip on his back.
It’s not like every single morning starts like that- or maybe they do, but you wouldn’t trade that for the world, because for a little bit, it’s just you and him, and the outside world doesn’t exist.

How They Fall Asleep With You- Avengers Domestic/Retirement AUs
Just sleep, you perverts, lol. I’ll happily update with any character y’all want upon request (while I use MCU gifs, I’m happy to also include non MCU Marvel characters). This is pure wish fulfillment for me; not sharing a bed with my favorite characters, having a normal and functional sleep schedule.
Tumblr media
Steve Rogers: Regardless of when you typically sleep, Steve will be ready and in bed by 9 o’clock sharp. If you’re a later sleeper he’ll stay up reading the news until you’re ready to head to bed, no matter how late. He prefers to stay on his back, with his hands folded on his stomach.
It takes you a bit to realize this, but his adaptability isn’t just because he loves you; Steve doesn’t actually sleep more than a few hours a night. He stays awake, staring at the ceiling for hours, just thinking. He tells you not to worry about it, because his enhanced body doesn’t actually doesn’t need all that much sleep, but you know it’s a half truth. So you do what you can to help rest a little easier, cuddling, back rubs, warm milk, whatever helps. He really does appreciate the effort you put in to make him feel loved and, frankly, to feel human again.
Also sorry for those hoping to see our dear Captain in his boxers but he wears long underwear to bed, force of habit, you don’t want to catch your death of cold whilst sleeping after all!
Tumblr media
Bucky Barnes: You know that feeling you get when you oversleep and then you absolutely cannot fall asleep again the next night, like your sleep bar is overfull? Yeah that’s Bucky all the time. So he just doesn’t sleep with you, he helps you get ready for bed, kisses you good night, and then leaves the bedroom to do… whatever it is he does at night (he never leaves the house, though, he’s quite a homebody). If you’re a light sleeper you’re often woken up by sounds of video games, or talking, or the smell of cooking. One time you even woke up to a fire alarm because he was making grilled cheese at 3 in the morning.
When Bucky does finally sleep, he’ll crash out wherever he’s sitting, so you’ve found him snoozing on the couch, on the stairs, face first in a bowl of cereal, you name it. You usually give him a kiss, gently slip a pillow under his head, and let him get the his well deserved rest. He doesn’t have any pajamas, just some comfy boxers and ratty old t-shirts.
Tumblr media
Natasha Romanov: You thought it was kismet how well your sleep schedules matched. You went to bed at the same time every night and woke up at the same time every morning. Just another reason why you two were such a great couple.
Until the first time you woke up in the middle of the night and realized Natasha was gone, entirely gone, not only from the bed but from the house. That’s when you found out that, actually, Natasha doesn’t have a normal sleep cycle. No don’t get me wrong, unlike our super soldier boys she does get her 8 hours, but she has a polyphasic sleep cycle, its part of her red room training. She only sleeps for 15 minutes at a time at most split intermittently throughout the day. So no, she wasn’t lying when she said she goes to sleep and wakes up with you, she just left out the parts in between. When she’s not in bed with you, she goes jogging, runs errands or hangs out with her other nocturnal friend Bucky Barnes.
Nat is the second most likely Avenger to wear lingerie to bed, silky lacy clingy slips are her go to. She knows how much you love to see her in it, she gets a kick out of watching you flush as she slips under the covers with you. But it absolutely melts her heart that you find her just as beautiful with messy hair and an oversized tee, that you love every aspect of her, not just the polished mask she’s so used to wearing.
Tumblr media
Tony Stark: He is very particular about his bedroom specifications (projecting my Sensory Processing Disorder let’s goooooo). The temperature has to be precisely room temp, the AC humming just so, the sheets a the sheets a 45% cotton 55% rayon blend, and the night light at 3260K (within a 10K range), or else he cannot sleep a wink. And even then his sleep schedule is a complete disaster because he when he’s diving into a project he lacks the self control to go to stop his work and go to bed (mood).  He never wakes up at the same time either, sometimes he’s bright eyed and bushy tailed at 5:30 AM, sometimes he’s snoozing until noon.
He talks in his sleep, lol can’t shut up even when unconscious, his muttering range from sweet (“…hey…love you so much, you know? love you…”) to sad (“…no no please just a little more time… I can’t save them…”) to just random (“the pickle is covered in sparkles! inedible, you go to space jail”).
He’s not entirely selfish though, he shares his toys. Has kitted out your bedroom to be state of the art, you both have an adjustable mattress, an automated light system, even a dumbwaiter for breakfast in bed. Anything you need, gorgeous, just say the word.
Absolutely wears lingerie to bed, the hottest and most impractical he can find. If the paparazzi plan on invading his privacy again, he’s promised to give them a show they’ll never forget.
Tumblr media
Clint Barton: Clint’s sleep has also been majorly affected by his career, but unlike his partner Nat he still sleeps a normal 8 hours at a time. Clint has cultivated the ability to fall asleep anywhere he needs to. He often dozes on the couch next to you while watching tv. As long as he can feel you next to him, as long as he knows you’re safe, he feels safe too.
When Clint takes off his hearing aid, he’s a very heavy sleeper, almost impossible to wake up. He’s also a very still sleeper, hardly ever moves around, he does snore however. If that bothers you, feel free to flip him to his side, I promise it won’t disturb his beauty sleep at all. He does have pyjama set, unlike some of his teammates he’s a civilized man.
Tumblr media
Thor Odinson: Has the classic rich kid sleep schedule; stays up late, sleeps in until brunch. If you’re the sort who prefers an early bedtime, he’ll do his best to not disturb you when he crawls into bed; although, if you’re a light sleeper, you’ll probably notice his clumsy attempts at stealth.
Sleeping in the same bed as Thor is definitely a mix of pros and cons. The cons: he snores like thunder and he’s a major space hog. The pros: he sleeps entirely nude. He’s also a cuddler and surprisingly soft for such a muscular man. He likes to slip his arm under your head to support it and pull you close while you sleep (although if you’re the sort that prefers their space while sleeping, YMMV on whether this is a perk or not). Also, if you have insomnia of any kind, he’ll stay up as late as you need helping you fall asleep, whispering Asgardian folktales, or even making it rain just so for the perfect white noise.
Tumblr media
Bruce Banner: Bruce has transformed during nightmares before, so he’s honestly somewhat scared of sleeping in the same bed as you, the last thing he wants is to hurt you. If you insist, he’ll try though (“alright, it’s your funeral”). So far, things have been going well; the worst that’s happened is you’ve been accidentally pushed out of bed once or twice, or woken up by oversized grumbling, but it doesn’t stop him from worrying that one day Hulk will hit you in his sleep (accidentally, of course, Hulk is as soft for you as Banner is). Always puts up a pillow wall when he sleeps. Sometimes suffers from insomnia, takes a lot of melatonin gummies. If you have insomnia, he’ll give you the driest densest scientific literature he can find (well, dry to you, to him its fascinating, but he accepts your lack of interest in advances in the modeling of molecular orbital theory for actinides using machine learning programs or whatever dishwater dull nuclear physics he’s reading about this week). Sleeps with nothing on but a pair of super stretchy pants in case of Hulk emergency. Almost always sleeps in the fetal position.
Tumblr media
Sam Wilson: Once again winning the Most Adult award, Sam works hard to make sure he has a consistent sleep schedule because he understands how important it is. He’s usually in bed by 8:30-9 and spends an hour or so reading with a nightlight and maybe a cup of tea until he feels sleepy. He’s not especially picky about his sleeping spaces, with one exception; he expects you to respect the sanctity of quiet time. That means no talking, no running around, no tv, maybe some music if he’s feeing crazy. Cuddling is always welcome, of course, as long as he can still read with you curled up in his arms. If you don’t behave he’s happy to banish you to the foldout couch. It’s nothing personal but it’s important to him that he has a chance to decompress at the end of the day and he knows how to set good boundaries.
Sam wakes up pretty early, around 6, so he can get a morning jog in and get ready for his day. He’ll always cook for you in the morning  and he’ll even make you breakfast in bed if he has the time. Sam wears pajama pants but typically goes shirtless at night. Likes to sleep on his side, facing you, so you’ll be the first thing he sees when he wakes up in the morning.
Tumblr media
Loki: Not the easiest person to sleep with. He’s very picky, not in specific details like Tony, more that he expects a certain standard of luxury, a bedroom fancy enough for a prince. He’s also a very selfish bedmate, since he’s not used to sharing his space. He’s a pillow hog and blanket thief and also like, ice cold so if you run hot then that’s great for you but if not, good luck lol). Still, he does like sleeping with you, he’s a clingy sort, so maybe take the L and indulge him once in a while. Goes to bed as late as he pleases and considers waking up before 10 to be “early” in classic royal fashion.
Has a giant sized plushie he squeezes while sleeping (Ah yes. You, your boyfriend, and his 4 foot tall Jeff the Landshark). Wears the most dramatic slinky old timey night robe ever, it has the tendency to start slipping off ;).
Tumblr media
Frank Castle: Frank had been nocturnal for a long time. He’d get restless sleep in the day, in the back of his van or in a safe house, usually in a sleeping bag and a pile of laundry, and of course without changing or brushing his teeth.
Since moving in with you, he’s tried to clean up his act. He gets in bed and wakes up around the same time as you (assuming you have a somewhat regular sleep schedule, if not he’s in at 10ish and up at 6:30ish), he has pajamas you bought together and always takes a shower right before bed, he’s slowly being re-domesticated. Frank always makes the bed after you’ve both woken up, force of habit from his military training. His alarm clock is set at the lowest level but he still jumps out of bed like somebody’s crashed a cymbal next to his ear, his vigilante past has left him pretty high strung. He’s also plagued by nightmares, of the death of his family, of the horrors he’s seen, of you suffering the same fate. He twists around and whimpers in his sleep, the best way to stop them is to cuddle, nothing helps him sleep like being the big spoon, feeling you safely tucked inside his arms.

Sleep Aid ♡
Zayne x Reader ~ fluff ε٩(๑> ₃ <)۶з
Tumblr media
word count: 1.2k
description: after a boring day at work you find yourself unable to sleep at night when you suddenly receive a message from zayne questioning why you’re still awake and offering to come over. after denying and trying to keep him at his home you are now getting out of bed late at night to let your graciously kind (and insanely stubborn) boyfriend into you’re home to help you sleep.
author’s note: hihi everyone!!! this is the first fanfic i’m ever actually posting! kinda confused a bit on how tumblr works so im sorry if the formatting is off but i think it’s all good other than that. i’m using this to test the waters on making a fic acc bc i’ve been waning to get on the writer’s side of it and not just the reader’s lolol. lmk ur thoughts and opinions id love to hear! hope u enjoy!!! ヾ(^▽^ヾ)
(p.s. this has been sitting in my notes app for a while so i’m so sorry for any grammar errors! i also apologize for the shitty title i’m not good at coming up with those T_T )
Tumblr media
it was around 1 in the morning and you couldn’t sleep. you weren’t really sure why either you just couldn’t do it. not like you didn’t try, sleep just didn’t want to take you. you didn’t necessarily mind though, you weren’t scheduled to come in the next day. so instead of just fighting to fall asleep, you just decided to mindlessly scroll on your phone until you felt tired enough to actually go to bed.
hugging a pillow and facing the wall, you’ve been scrolling for god knows how long. until suddenly you received a message.
zayne: why are you still awake?
taken aback by the sudden text, your eyes slightly widen. you stare at the notification for a moment in disbelief until you receive another
zayne: don’t ignore me and act like you’re asleep. i can see that you’re active on moment posts.
well there goes your brilliant plan on ignoring him until the sun rises pretending to be asleep all along.
you: stalker
you: also i just so happened to not be able to fall asleep what’s your excuse hm?
zayne: i just got back from the hospital half an hour ago and got ready to go to bed and noticed someone up past her bedtime.
you: bedtime? i’m not 5 🙄
you: plus i don’t have work tomorrow so i can go to bed whenever
zayne: not necessarily. what time you go to bed also plays a factor in your rest not just how long it is.
you: blah blah blah. i’ll be fine. i have been trying to though!!! i just can’t fall asleep for whatever reason :P
zayne: would you like me to come over?
you: no!!!!!
you: i mean i appreciate the offer but i promise im ok! i’ll get tired eventually and fall asleep it’s just not right now. and you should go to bed you had a long shift and need to rest.
zayne: i’m not going to make a comment on your poor sleeping habits, but i dont mind heading over. sleeping with you helps me rest better anyways.
you: 😉
zayne: not like that.
you: 🙄
you: whatever. don’t come over i swear i’ll be fine and i’ll go to bed eventually! 😁
zayne: …
zayne: i’ll be there in 15.
you: ZAYNE!!! 🤬
just as he said 15 minutes later you hear a knock on your door. annoyed, you grumble and stomp over to the door to let him in.
you open the door making sure not to hide the sour look on your face, emphasizing the displeasure of him coming all this way. the moment you open the door a smile tugs on his lips, despite the upset look on your face. he chuckles and leans down to kiss the top of your head.
“hello, dear” he says against your hair. before he walks into your apartment.
“why are you here?” you quickly say with your bottom lip sticking out in a pout with your arms crossed over your chest.
“i thought i made it aware. you can’t sleep.” he states as he brushes a few strands of hair out of your face and behind your ear.
“but i already told you im fine!!! go back home. it is all good here.” you say like a child , attempting to swat away his hand and starting to try and push him out the door.
“what if i said that i couldn’t sleep?” zayne says as he slightly cocks his head to the side at you with a soft smirk.
you pause in your tracks, trying to think of something to respond, knowing exactly what he’s doing. the gears try to slowly turn in your head until you look up at him, and you see him looking back down at you with a knowing grin showing he already got what he wanted.
“…fine.” you mumble begrudgingly as you drag yourself back to your room.
zayne lets out a small breath of laughter as he takes off his coat and begins to follow you to bed.
you sit down and lean against your headboard. picking up your phone and continuing to scroll as zayne joins you in bed. there’s a few moments of silence where you don’t even notice him looking at you. it wasn’t until he suddenly reaches over and snatches your phone right from your hands that you’re reminded of his presence and how he invaded your peaceful home.
“HEY!!! give it back!!!” you say as you jump to him trying to retrieve your phone from his grasp, something you knew was pointless.
“it’s almost 2:00 am you need to go to sleep.” he says with a softer voice as he plugs your phone in on the nightstand closer to him.
“do i have to say it again?” you practically growl as you loom over on top of him.
“well, now i’m here.” his voice deepening, as his hands begin to caress the sides of your torso. a combination he knows gets you to do whatever he wants.
you finally give up. falling on top of him onto his chest where he’s quick to wrap his arms around you and help you get settled.
“it’s not working im still not tired.” you say annoyed trying to wriggle out of his grasp. another fruitless effort, but hey you’ll still try.
one of zaynes hand creeps its way to your hair and begins brushing it out, as he uses his other hand to wrap the duvet around you both tucking, mainly you, in.
“talk to me until you do.” he says, still playing with your hair.
“about what?” you look up to him, with a much calmer demeanor that you don’t notice, but he smiles at.
“your day. what did you do today?” he asks, beginning to scratch up and down your back.
you release a small yawn before you begin to speak. which he uses as a sign to move the hand playing with your hair to cup your cheek, softly rubbing his thumb along the apple of it. making sure to keep his lips pressed against your head.
“well i didn’t do much today. i had a mission i was supposed to go on, but then they sent another group instead. so i just sat on my desk doing some some work i’ve been putting off until i got bored and decided to go shopping. and then once i got off work i went to the convenience store to get some snacks. and i also hope you know you can’t do this every time i can’t sleep. i very often struggle to do so.” you ramble, your voice losing energy the more you talk and closing your eyes by the time you get to the end of it.
zayne cranes his head down to press his lips against your forehead, still cupping your cheek and rubbing it tenderly. he begins to speak against your forehead in a quiet gentle voice.
“i’m aware, but every time that i am able to, i’ll gladly come over and comfort you to sleep. it’s no issue at all. i assure you.”
by the time he finished speaking, zaynes voice lulled you to bed. of course he knew exactly what to do to make you instantly fall asleep. he nuzzles your face once more before turning off the bedside lamp. he curls himself around your sleeping form nuzzling his face into your hair before drifting off to bed himself.
“goodnight, my love.”

WHAT YOU'RE MEANT TO DO ᡣ𐭩
pairing: alpha!Simon 'Ghost' Riley & workcaholic omega fem!reader
synopsis: you've lived your whole life without any problems due to the status of being beta, and you liked it that way. It doesn't interfere with your work, and suddenly you're informed you're an omega? That can't be.
tags: small arguments, smut like.. actually, dumbification, slight size kink, belly bulge, hair pulling, praise, degradation, breeding kink??, daddy kink, slight overstimulation if you squint, spit kink if you live in delusions

You had a routine you religiously followed. The day starts with waking up at 4, never having trouble getting up because you always look forward to work. You leave the apartment you share with your boyfriend at 5:15— maybe later than that when Simon feels clingy and asks you to stay for that day. You’ll indulge for 5 minutes before pressing a kiss on his chapped lips, promising you’ll come home early for him which seems to satisfy him.
Now you knew something was wrong when you woke up, exhausted, and all your bones weighed like a ton. Thinking back to last night, the clock displayed 10:15 when you finally resigned to bed, even unable to satisfy Simon (which he understood), opting to cuddle with you and nosing around your neck.
Your groan woke up Simon, his muscled figure making the bed creak as he followed your figure almost dragging itself to the bathroom. “Sweetheart?” he calls out, worry evident in his voice. “I’m fine, baby. Just feeling a little under the weather. Nothing some meds won’t fix,” the reassurance slips off your tongue easily despite all the alarms in your mind begging you to rest.
Your breathing got labored as your body tried to function. Your lover seems to have taken your word for it and went back to sleep, making you crack a smile.
Finally, you managed to get ready.. at 5:40. On the way, you could feel stares pointing at you. Did you smell? ‘Did I shower? I.. forgot. No, no... I did..’ you think to yourself, putting your things down on the table and letting your legs rest. “What kind of fucking sickness is this?” mumbling to yourself. Your eyebrows furrow, cursing at the world and complaining about the medicine not taking effect.
Time seemed to go fast but unbearably slow. It seemed like you could only recognize snippets throughout the day. Next thing you know, you hear your boyfriend’s worrying voice coming from your phone. Since when did you call? Nevermind. You hung up. Your mind flashes forward and the bright shine of your laptop looks back. For quite some time, you don’t recall moving, just looking dazed. ‘Water. I need water’ You finally snap back to reality, standing up. The world suddenly swirled and you found yourself on the floor.
‘Oh, shit. I-I need to get up... Fuck, my legs won’t move'
Tears swelled in your eyes, feeling helpless as people started to crowd you. Amid the commotion, a thundering voice booms out, calling for you. “Y/N!” Suddenly, all you could feel was the cool feeling of your boyfriend’s skin on yours. His scent fills your senses. God, you could live off this. “Babe.. why are you here?” you look at him, sighing in relief when you feel his palm pressed against your cheek. “You called me, slurring your words.” His voice was so deep and rough, you thought. Involuntarily, you squeezed your legs when you felt something gush in between. Your period? No, no.. too early. Unaware, everyone seemed to catch up to what’s wrong with you. Everyone rushed to distance themselves from you when Simon held you protectively, hiding you away from everyone and glaring at those who seemed to look at you like prey ready to be devoured.
Before you lost consciousness, all you could think of was you forgot to save your document. Then the next thing you wake up to is your apartment’s ceiling and the clattering from your kitchen with heavy footsteps. You could only assume it’s your boyfriend trying to cook. “Ghost..?” you call out, voice hoarse. In an instant, he was by your side with water in hand. “Hi, baby,” he starts, pushing the glass near your lips. You whine when you can’t even move to take a sip, and he melts at that. With gentleness, he tangles his fingers in your hair and pulls your head back, tilting the glass. “Open,” he commanded, which your body seemed to obey, your mouth opening and letting the cold water relieve your parched throat. As some droplets escape and cascade down your cleavage, you moan as it momentarily relives the heat your skin radiates.
“Love...” your boyfriend starts with the tone you know he uses when it’s about something that will upset you. “You’re required by the doctor to stay home for 2 weeks,” he continues, which finally tips you off. “No! I-I have a project due in 5 days, okay? I just need some paracetamol.” Insisting, you move to get up but you feel your boyfriend’s palm on your waist pinning you down. “No, bunny. You’re staying.” You glare at him in return. A part of you was aware that he was doing this for your sake, but you were too stubborn to let him. “Ghost, stop. I’m not in the mood for any lovey shits, okay? Just let me be,” you snap. Usually, when you get this pissed, he lets you be and just rushes by your side when you inevitably pass out due to over-exhaustion. This time, he doesn’t.
His stare was firm and commanding unlike the usual. Your Simon was soft, always there to clean up your mess. He never forces you to rest nor to listen to him— even if it is for the better. “Bunny, it’s not normal sickness, okay?” he still calmly explains, brushing the stray hair away from your face but you only slap his hand away, still frustrated. Seeing that you’re getting an attitude, he sighs and kisses your temple. “Do you know what your secondary gender is?” At his question, you stare at him like he asked you if you know the sky is blue. “Fucking hell, Ghost. Of course! I told you this the moment we met. I’m a beta, okay? Can you let me go now?” you hissed, attempting to raise his heavy hand of your hand yet he persisted and pressed harder. “No, princess,” he looks away in contemplation. “I rushed you to the doctor earlier, and… your testing was a mistake. You’re a freshly developed omega and it was advised you.. naturally let your heat happen.”
There were a few beats of silence before you cackled, tears forming in your eyes. “Yeah, right, babe. As if. Can you just fucking let me go?” The news of you being an omega sounded fake— because it is, you scoff. “I’m not joking,” he mumbles with a new profound authority. After realizing he was serious, everything came crashing down on you. This couldn’t be. You loved being a beta. It doesn’t interfere with your life. You can’t be an omega. You can’t! No, it’s fake. This was a joke! Heats?? You?? No, no. That’s not true–
“Y/N! Breathe!” Simon’s voice snapped you out of your haze, looking down to see your nails pressed so hard on his skin that’s letting out droplets of blood. Sobs were robbed out of your body, refusing to accept the change in you, yelling at your boyfriend to let you go. His figure immediately wrapped itself around you, pressing your face on his chest and nuzzling your head. “Calm down, bunny. It’s fine... Just calm down,” he soothes, putting his hand under your shirt to rub circles on your burning skin, and trying to get your breathing to match his. His shirt was drenched with tears but he didn’t mind. He muttered endless praises in your ear about how brave you are, and how you’ll be fine because he’s there. Ghost is there for you.
“I’m here, sweetheart” he cooed, pressing a kiss on your ear and laying the both of you down on the bed. He covered you entirely with his figure, protecting you from the world. With a final hiccup, you lose yourself to sleep and exhaustion, settling down and letting yourself be vulnerable with him with his pheromones blanketing your senses as if he’s the only thing there.
Waking up with a gasp, a layer of sweat covered your whole body when your attention was suddenly redirected to the wet spot below you that seemed to seep into the bedsheets. Hot panic took you over and you suddenly felt ashamed. Did you pee yourself out of nervousness? Clamouring, you stumble as you try to wipe the spot away, whimpering when another sudden gush dripped down your legs which woke Simon.
“Sweetheart? What’s up with ‘ya?”
You cry, rushing to his side and throwing yourself at him while apologizing profusely. “I-I’m sorry! Baby, I’m sorry... Please forgive me. I didn’t know!”
“Calm down, calm down.. tell me what’s happening,” his voice immediately calmed you down, your hands still clenching tight on his shirt and sticking your face in his scent gland. In an instant, the strong smell of whiskey, ground, and cigar invaded your nose but you welcomed it. The aroma calms down your nerves and allows you to talk without tumbling over your words. “I-I.. peed,” you mumble in shame that surprised your lover, but it seems the situation clicked in his head and he only responded with a chuckle.
“No, baby... You didn’t pee,” he sighs, grabbing your waist and sitting you sideways on his lap, while he scoots backward to lean on the headboard. “It’s something omega releases in substitution to lube,” he starts his hand slowly peeling away your shorts, revealing your soaked panties. “This is slick,” his finger swipes along the covered lips of your pussy, a string sticking to his pad. He brings his soaked fingers near you when the smell suddenly hit him. You smell like cherry-fucking-pie.
‘Fuck, she smells so sweet. No, I need to be patient. It’s her first heat’ he thinks while he watches your eyes observe with fascination. He nosed around your scent gland taking in your pheromones that sent blood rushing to his dick. His hand pulls your panties to the side to directly flick on your clit, pressing his thumb down and circling. You whimper, holding onto his shirt as your legs instinctively close. Everything was heightened. It felt like you’d come any minute just from your clit getting pressed down.
“Spread them.” As if your body was possessed, your thighs separate, allowing Simon to completely slip off your underwear and press a single digit inside of you. The reaction was instant. Your back arches and your toes curl in pleasure, red chipped nails digging into his bicep, but he was too immersed in watching your pretty cunt take what he gives you to even care. “Good girl,” he praises, pressing his lips against your ear. Tilting your head to the side, you attempt on taking cover on his bicep, but Ghost only grabs your face, tilting it back.
“Daddy needs to hear you, princess”
Your moans got higher as he added another finger and pumped them, borderline abusing your cunt. But you needed this. How else will you take your alpha’s massive cock? Looking down on you, he melts as babbles and whines were the only things you could muster. Your body writhes in pleasure, eyes rolling back in pleasure. “S-Simon! I’m... a-ah!.. close!” Feeling your release climbing, your pussy clenches around his digits while urging him to go faster; just a little more push to your climax. A scandalized gasp was ripped out of you when he suddenly stopped completely. “No, how do you ask to cum properly?” his voice grumbles, squishing your cheeks while your face is soaked with tears. “I wanna cum, Simon. Please please please–” he cuts you off, tightening his hold on your face and pressing his thumb hard on your clit. “No, not Simon.”
With that, you finally realized the key to your release. “Daddy, please. I wanna cum, please. P-put your fingers in again. Daddy, please” you whine, a hand releasing his bicep to place itself on his nape, pulling him down so you can messily press a kiss. Satisfied, he plunged 3 fingers in, forcing your cunt to take it. “There we go. Was that so hard, princess? Was it hard being polite to daddy?” he teases, pressing down on your sweet spot. His tongue licks around your mouth, sucking on the wet appendage and letting his saliva trickle down into yours.
You felt so tight around his digits, and the thought of how you’ll feel around him made his cock ache. The hard-on pressing against your lower back which lifted as the coil inside of you snapped. He watches with adoration as you soak his fingers and the bedsheets, a sense of accomplishment bubbling up inside his chest, making precum dribble out of his tip and stain his sweatpants. “Good girl,” the praise slips off his tongue absentmindedly as he sneaks a hand behind you, untying his pants and pulling it down just enough for his cock to spring free.
Still high from pleasure, he manhandles your body to the position he wants. Pushing your body forward so your face is planted on the sheets with your hips resting on two-stacked pillows. Amid pleasure, you got brought back when overstimulation ran through your nerves, feeling Ghost’s cock fill you up, inch by inch. You didn’t even realize when he had taken his bottoms off. The only thought running through your head was him, his smell, his overpowering pheromones, and his cock. God, his cock was driving you crazy.
“Babygirl, you need to loosen up,” he orders, slithering a hand under you to swirl around your clit. “No!.. oh! s-sensitive!” you whine, sobbing onto the pillow. “I don’t care, sweetie. You had your fill, now daddy needs his. Won’t you be a good girl and help me? I promise I’ll reward you,” he mutters, his chest pressing on your back. Driven with the need to be good for him, you let your cunt relax to take him in.
Slowly rutting his hips, he tries to thrust more of his cock inside of you. “Slowly, baby. Breathe for me. There we go. Perfect,” he groans, pressing his forehead on your nape when he finally felt himself completely buried inside your hot, wet cunt. “Such a perfect pussy. You want to make me proud, don’t ya?” You only whine in response, then a loud moan ripped out of you when you felt a subtle bulge on your stomach which got pressed down onto the pillow under the weight Ghost was putting down you. “Fuck, you’re so small, aren’t ya? Such a perfect cocksleeve. What a behaved slut for me.” Without a warning, he snaps his hips, thrusting in and out of you without mercy; like a carnal animal with the intent to just breed. God, this is heaven. This is where he’s supposed to be. With you, inside of you.
“I’m gonna fill you up so good, ma” he moans, your voice matching his. “Ah-ah-ah! Fast! Too fa— oh! Too fast,” you sobbed yet it felt so good. Every sense of yours was drowning with the thought of your mate, of Simon. You were so lost in pleasure, hands sprawled out on the sheets and gripping, trying to crawl away from the overwhelming pleasure. Ghost only clicks his tongue, putting his hands on your waist and pulling you back, filling you to the brim again.
“Daddy was too lenient on you huh? Maybe I need to keep you here. You won’t ever need to use that pretty head of yours, worrying about nothing, sweetie. I’ll do everything for you, okay? Your alpha will do everything for you.” You feel him pull back with the tip catching on your rim. As if given a break, you take a breath but suddenly everything was knocked out of you when he bottomed out with one thrust.
“F-fuck, you feel amazing. You just need to be good to me, okay? You just need to be a good mama for our children, stay at home, and let me use your pretty pussy when daddy needs to relieve stress” Pinning your waist down, it was like he actually sees you as a personal cocksleeve, using your body for his own release.
Thrusting faster, Ghost’s moans start to pitch higher, his hand tangling itself in your locks to pull your face from the pillow. Locking lips, he moans louder while pressing down on the bulge in your stomach, helping him get closer from the fact you’re so small— so easily to manhandle and to use freely. Maybe he should actually just keep you here. You won’t need to work. No need to stress that pretty head of yours over trivial stuff. He just needs you to stay with him.
The thought of you being swollen with his baby and staying inside the apartment waiting for him was the final thing that sent him to the edge. His tip spurting out cum filled you up to no end, kissing the entrance of your womb as he buried himself as deep as possible. Your hands scramble to hold onto something, afraid to get lost in the pleasure; scared of being a slave to the mind-numbing pleasure. You dig your nails on his thigh, sobbing and moaning in pleasure as his release triggered another of yours. Feeling so full, Ghost finally stopped cumming and lets you go. His spent body collapsing alongside you in exhaustion. Silence ensued between you guys, basking in each other’s presence. After a while, he got up to grab a towel to clean you up, knowing you’d be insatiable once your omega instincts completely settled.
Feeling his lips kiss your temple, his rough yet sultry deep voice (or maybe that’s just your love for him talking) telling you to relax made you purr. As you watch him take care of you, scrubbing down both yours and his spent off your body got you thinking. Maybe this is where you’re supposed to be. Doing nothing but behaving for your lover, keeping Ghost happy.

Klaus Mikaelson x Soulmate!Reader x Elijah Mikaelson Pt. 19
Word Count- 6.4k
Warnings- UNEDITED- I’m tired, and this chapter kicked my ass, swearing, violence, VOMIT- A LOT OF IT, liquor, underage drinking, Theo, Klaus, Stefan
I’m losing it. Or at least I’m about to.
“C’mon, Y/n, it’s not that hard…just paint, for Christ's sake.”
I lift up my paintbrush, which I’ve been holding for the past 15 minutes, and dip it into the dark blue oil paint sitting next to my easel. The easel is currently holding a sickly white and blank canvas. The whiteness practically mocks me as I lift up the paintbrush and keep it a millimeter away from the canvas.
I furrow my eyebrows and continue to hold the paintbrush for so long that some of the paint on the brush is about to slip off.
“UGH!”
I throw the paintbrush back into the water cup next to me and stand up, running a hand through my hair. This is how it’s been for the past week. I sit down in front of this stupid easel and stare at it for fucking hours, and yet nothing comes to me. No inspiration, no sense of creativity, nothing. When I was younger, painting and drawing were things that would ease my soul, but as of now, it’s something that is just pissing me off. Technically it’s not the painting that’s pissing me off, I guess. It’s my creativity or lack of it.
A buzzing in my pocket has me grabbing my phone and answering it, “What?!”
“Pukey, we’ve really got to work on how you answer calls,” Demon laughs from his end of the call.
“What do you want, Toad,” I huff as I rip off the painter’s apron covering my jeans and place it on the seat I was just inhabiting.
“That’s a new one,” He says, and I can pretty much see the smirk on his face as he says it, “Anyways, I have something to tell you. It’s kind of big, so you might want to sit down.”
I scrunch up my face at his words, “Did someone die…other than Ric?”
“What? No. No one died.”
I release a breath, put Damon on speaker, and then walk over to my closet to find a different shirt to wear.
“Are you sitting down?”
I roll my eyes, “Ya…sure.”
“Okay…”
At Damon’s dramatics, I groan, “Demon, if you don’t stop talking, I’m going to hang up. And then you’re going to have to talk to one of your other friends…well, if you had any.”
“So you’re admitting we’re friends,” Damon sasses back.
“Damon! Speak!”
“Damn, woman, fine! Elena and I kissed…well, technically, I kissed her. And I think she kissed me back. I mean, I hope she did. Do I hope she did? Ya, I do.”
At Damon’s confession, I glance at the floor-length mirror on my closet door and watch myself blink rapidly, my face contorting from shock to anger.
“Damon…”
“Ya?”
“I’m going to stick my foot up your ass.”
“Please don’t.”
I quickly grab a light blue sweater off its hanger and then throw it over my head and shoulders, “Too late. I’m coming to your house now, and then when I get there, I’m going to beat you up.”
“I’m actually leaving now, so we’re going to have to postpone this little meetup.”
I huff as I grab my phone and take it off speaker, “Damon, you did something again without thinking.”
Damon is quiet for a moment, and then I hear him sigh, “I did think about it though, Y/n. I’ve thought about it a lot.”
“She’s your little brother’s girlfriend, Damon. The little brother that spent a summer in hell with the devil himself to save your life.”
“I know… But for once, I just… nothing. Never mind,” Damon softly says, and my heart clenches when I hear his tone.
“Damon…”
“Don’t tell anyone, ok? I don’t think Elena wants anyone to know.”
I nod, even though he can’t see me, “Ya, sure, Damon. I won’t tell anyone.”
“Thanks.”
Before I can say anything else, Damon ends the call, and I sigh. Can things in this town get any more fucking complicated?
“Y/N!”
I quickly go into alert mode as Theo bursts through my bedroom door with tears in his eyes.
“Theo! What’s wrong?! What happened?! Are you hurt?!”
I quickly run over to my brother and grab his shoulder, trying to asses him for any injuries. Thankfully, I see nothing externally wrong with him.
“He’s gone!”
Theo practically wails like a banshee as he throws himself dramatically into my arms, putting all of his weight onto me.
“Jesus, Theo! Words give me more words! Who is gone?!”
Theo leans back to look down at me, “My precious baby boy!”
I shake my head frantically, “Jeremy! What happened to Jeremy? Is he hurt?”
Theo pushes off of me, resulting in me almost falling backward. I turn and watch my brother as he throws his tall body onto my bed, grabs one of my pillows, clutches it, and then positions himself in a fetal position.
“Theo, explain!”
Theo throws his head back, and with one more wail, he looks up at me, “He’s leaving town! For some weird ass state like Ohio or some shit! Can you believe this horror, Y/n!? He’s LEAVING ME!”
I take a deep sigh of relief and then rub my temple with my index finger, “So he’s not dead?”
“He might as well be! He is to me, at least! That hoe just dropped the bomb on me that he’s leaving me… leaving US…and I’m supposed to be okay with this?!”
I watch my teenage brother go through his tantrum with a bored face.
“Theo…”
“WHAT WOMAN!? Can’t you see that I’m going through something here?!”
“Theo… never mind,” I stare down at my brother and then just sigh. I walk over to him, grab my blanket, and throw it over him, “I’m guessing you’re not going to school?”
Theo peers his head out from the blanket and glares at me, “In this condition?! How do you expect me to live?!”
I blink at my brother and then cover his head back up. “As much as I’d like to stay here and work you through…whatever this is,” I grab my backpack and keys from my desk. But it’s Caroline’s birthday, so I’ve got to go to school.”
Theo doesn’t say anything, and I stand there for a moment, watching the blanketed lump on my bed. “Don’t forget to drink something.”
“Like what!? BLEACH?!”
“I’m too young for this,” I say to myself as I close my door.
—-
“Hey, Y/n,” Elena smiles sheepishly as I meet her at Caroline’s locker.
I stare blankly at my friend as she tapes up a pink streamer to our friend’s locker, “From the look on your face, I’m guessing you heard.”
“Oh, you wouldn’t believe the things I’ve heard this morning, Elena Gilbert.”
“Jeremy needs to leave Y/n; it’s not safe for him here. As an older sister, too, you should know what I’m doing is only in his best interest.” Elena turns to me and looks at me hopefully. I want to argue with her, but if I were in her position and Theo’s life was in danger, I’d make him leave town, too.
“How’d you convince him to leave? Theo’s having a mental breakdown in my bed at this moment, so I don’t know how Jeremy could just leave so soon.”
Elena turns away from me and then quietly tapes another streamer onto the locker.
“Elena Gilbert… what the hell did you do?!”
Elena turns to me quickly, and her perfectly shaped eyebrows furrow at me, “I did what I had to do to keep my brother safe, Y/n. I had Damon come over last night and compel him to leave town. Jenna is going too.”
I stare blankly at my friend and breathe in and out, trying to stop myself from overreacting.
“Did Damon do that before or after you guys kissed?”
Elena’s brown eyes widen in shock as she closes the small space between us.
“How did you know,” She whisper-yells to me.
“How do you think?! Elena, seriously!”
“Hey guys, sorry I’m late. I, uh, got held up,” Elena and I separate and look over to our witch friend, who frowns at the two of us.
“Is everything ok?”
I turn to Elena and tilt my head, “I don’t know…is it Elena?”
Elena looks at me and then brightly smiles at our friend, “Yep! We just got here to decorate…. Can you help with the balloons?”
Bonnie frowns slightly at me and then leans down to grab the balloons by my feet. She hands them to Elena who thanks her.
“What got you running late?”
Bonnie looks at Elena and then back to me before answering, “I, uh, was working on some spells. You guys?”
Bonnie’s lying.
I’m glancing at her as she fiddles with her fingers. Hmm, it seems like everyone is hiding something nowadays.
“Working out with Alaric,” Elena says. I glance up and notice Bonnie looking at me, waiting for me to answer.
“Talking Theo off the ledge,” I say casually as I lean down to grab a streamer.
“Wait, what?!”
Bonnie’s frightened voice has me turning back toward her, “Nothing new.”
I smile at Bonnie, who stares at me wide-eyed but still nods her head. I gesture to the sign in her hands and she hands it to me. I tape the sign onto Care’s locker.
“So, uh, I have something I need to tell you. And you’re not going to like it.”
At Elena’s words, I let out a low whistle and then backed away from the two, saying, “This is a perfect time for me to go…away.”
Without waiting, I quickly bolt down the hall so I don’t have to be around for Elena telling Bonnie that she had her ex-boyfriend compelled to leave town. No, thank you.
I find comfort by a water fountain until I see Jeremy walk to his locker.
“Jeremy Gilbert, turn around.”
I watch as Jeremy’s shoulders hunch together, and he slowly turns around to face me.
“Hey, Y/n…”
“Don’t; hey, me. Do you know that my brother is at home right now…in my bed, wailing because his best friend is leaving him? After telling him over a phone call!”
Jeremy frowns and looks down, ashamed, “It was something that I found out I was doing just last night.”
I inwardly cringe at that because it’s honestly not this boy’s fault his sister had her not-love compel him.
“I know, Buddy. But telling Theo over the phone and not saying goodbye to him in person? Low blow,” I stare at him for another moment before glaring at the kid, “ALSO! Why the hell did you tell Theo about the supernatural!?”
Jeremy cringes and shrugs his shoulders, “He told you?”
I answer him by glaring.
“I’m going to take that as a yes. Well, he deserved to know. I went through the same thing with being in the dark.”
“But that wasn’t your call to make, Jeremy! You’re his friend. Not his sister!”
“Jeremy?”
At the sound of Bonnie’s voice, I let out a sigh and rubbed my temple. “Just go talk to him in person,” I said, pointing at him.
Jeremy nods, and I roll my eyes before pulling the younger boy in for a hug, “Be safe in Ohio.”
“I’m going to Delaware,” Jeremy says, confused, and I roll my eyes.
“Please tell my brother that. I’m pretty sure he’s planning on flying to Ohio to be with you.”
Jeremy lets out a laugh and smiles, “You be careful too, okay?”
I nod, “Careful as I can be.”
“Matt move your fat ass,” I hiss to Matt Donovan as we squeeze in together behind the corner of Caroline’s living room. The birthday girl didn’t show up to see the masterpiece we made of her locker, so we decided to move the party to her house.
“Sorry, Y/n,” The blond boy says as he moves back a step.
“Shhhh! She’s coming,” Elena whispers to us as she and Bonnie stand directly across from us.
The sound of a door opening and closing alerts us, and we jump out, yelling.
“Suprise!”
Caroline’s wide eyes look at the four of us, and she smiles, but it doesn’t seem to meet her eyes.
“Happy Birthday!”
“What are you guys doing here?”
“Well, you uh blew off school and missed our, uh work of birthday art,” Elena explains as Care walks over to us, inspecting our poster and birthday crowns we’re all wearing,
“Change into warmer clothes; we’re going to the falls. S’mores, campfire,” Bonnie tells her, and I nod excitedly.
“Cake,” Elena chimes in, “Like when we were little.”
“Except with tequila,” Matt says, and I roll my eyes.
“I also brought my speaker and my iPod, so I’m going to be DJing us alllll night,” I jump up and down.
Caroline laughs and smiles at us, “Ah, thanks, guys, really. Um… I’m just not really feeling my birthday this year.”
“I’m sorry, what? You’ve already claimed your birthday as everyone’s favorite day of the year.”
I nod along to what Bonnie just said, “Gurl, be so for real. I haven’t been up for my birthday in years, and yet you threw me a great party. It’s your turn to experience the love,” I say and give her a stern look.
“Ya, well, it’s just a reminder now technically I’m dead,” Caroline retorts.
Oh.
“Look, I didn’t even like 17. And the only point was to get to 18. It’s a filler year. I’m stuck in a filler year.”
Elena shakes her head at Caroline’s words, “You’re not stuck, Caroline.”
“Ya, I am. But it’s okay. You know it’s all good. I will be fine. But I just need some time to wallow in it.”
I awkwardly play with my fingers at the tension in the room.
“Okay,” Elena says, “Well, I think I have another idea.”
“Oh god,” I look at the cemetery we’re walking into. You guys realize that this is a horror movie, stupid, right?!”
I turn to Matt, Caroline, Bonnie, and Elena, who all laugh at me, thinking I’m joking. I’m not.
“Guys, I’m being serious! You know when you’re watching a horror movie, and the dumb blonde makes some dumbass decision that puts her right into the hands of the maniac killer? Ya, that’s us right now! We’re the dumb blondes!”
They all laugh but keep walking towards the crypt.
“This is going to end so badly! I’m calling it now. So when something bad happens, don’t be pissed off when I say I told you so! You hear me,” I watch as they all walk into the small building while I stand alone in the dark cemetery, “Guys!?”
I stand by myself, debating on going in. A snapping branch from behind me makes me pretty much shit myself.
“Oh fuck this,” I quickly run to the crypt, throw open the door, and shut it behind me.
“I hate you all.”
“We love you, too,” All four of them say together like some weird ass cult.
Elena walks over to me, throws her hand over my shoulder, and pulls me into her, “As I was saying… Technically, Caroline’s dead. Sorry, but you don’t need a birthday. You need a funeral. You need to say goodbye to your old life so that you can move on with your new one.”
I whip my head over to my best friend and gawk at her. Then, I think for a moment and realize for once that her plan wasn’t completely horrible.
Caroline seems to think so, too, as she laughs.
“Okay,” The birthday girl takes off her purple tiara and places it down, “Here lies Caroline Forbes.”
“Cheerleader, Miss Mystic Falls,” Elena moves us to Caroline’s cake and starts putting candles on it. “Third-grade hopscotch champion.”
“Friend… daughter,” Bonnie adds as she walks over to the blonde, “Overachiever.”
“Mean girl, sometimes,” Matt takes his turn, “No offense.”
“Ah, none taken.”
“Best party thrower in the history of Mystic Falls and the most scandalous friend I’ve ever had,” I smile at the blonde, and she smiles back at me.
“You bet your ass I am.”
“She was 17, and she had a really good life,” Elena finishes putting the candles on the cake, and we walk it over to Caroline, “So rest in peace so that you can move forward. That’s what you really need. It’s what we all really need. Amen, or cheers or whatever.”
I laugh as Matt raises the bottle of Tequila in the air.
“Uh, Bonnie,” Elena gestures to the unlit cake, and Bonnie smiles. We all watch as our witch friend closes her eyes, and a moment later, the dark crypt is lit up by the orange glow of the birthday candles.
I jump up and down, “Huzzah! Make a wish!”
“I love this song!”
I dance around the crypt nursing my root beer as my friends all pass around the bottle of tequila. They offered me my first dibs, but I turned them down.
I dance by Bonnie and grab her arms. Her laugh echoes off the stone walls as we sway back and forth to “Jessie’s Girl.”
“Uh oh, I need it more than you. Trust me…” Elena says to Matt over the music, “Caroline, what are you doing?”
Bonnie and I swing to look at the blonde, who is currently hunched over her phone.
“Huh? Hmmm? Nothing.”
Bonnie and I share a look at the blatant lie.
“Okay,” Elena says, “You’re a bad sober liar. You’re an even worse drunk liar.”
Caroline cringes, “I might’ve texted Tyler.”
I blow out a low breath, and Elena presses pause on my iPod, shutting off the music.
“Until next time, my love,” I lean down and kiss Bonnie’s hand, and she giggles.
“Caroline…”
“What,” Caroline whines, “I’m delicate.”
Bonnie sits down on the stone floor, “Okay, give her a break. You can’t control what everyone does all the time.”
“Oh shit,” Matt and I shoot an awkward look at each other.
“Wow,” Elena says to the witch.
“I’m sorry; I know it’s Caroline's birthday funeral or whatever, but I just feel it’s really wrong that you compelled Jeremy to leave town.”
And this is one of the many reasons I don’t drink.
Elena frowns, “I’m doing it to protect him, Bonnie. I wanna give him a chance at a halfway normal life.”
“He should be able to choose how he wants to live it. You’re taking his choices away.”
Elena shakes her head, “Bonnie, you can’t tell him.”
“Why? Are you going to compel me not to?”
“You know, you guys are ruining a perfectly good funeral,” Matt interrupts…thankfully.
“I’m sorry,” Bonnie stands up. I’m just going to go sleep it off or something. Happy Birthday.”
I watch with raised eyebrows as Bonnie leaves.
—
I stare down at Matt’s lips and then back up to his eyes.
“I’m sorry, I can’t!”
I throw myself back, and Caroline, Elena, and Matt all laugh.
“My first kiss is not going to be with my work husband. I’m a chicken, and I fault on my dare,” I say and raise my hands in surrender.
“Wait! First kiss?!?! You’ve never had your first kiss? What the hell, Y/n,” The drunk blonde vampire throws herself into my lap so she’s straddling me, and I let out a loud laugh.
“Ya, nope. I have no game. No kissing for me,” I say casually.
“I bet Elijah thinks otherwise,” Caroline says seductively, and I shove her off my laugh.
“Shut up!” I try to act cool, but I can feel myself warming up.
“I’m serious,” Caroline stands up, or at least tries to, “We’re going to go find Stefan, get him to wake Elijah up, and then that hunky suited Original is going to lay one big slobbery kiss on those pink lips of yours!”
Caroline nods to herself as if this is the best idea she has ever come up with.
“Elijah does not want to kiss me,” I deny.
“Yes, he does,” all three of them say, and I whip my head over to Matt, who is sitting next to me.
“How the hell do you even know that? You’ve never met the guy… neither have you, Caroline!”
Matt shrugs and takes another sip of the tequila, “I saw him that day when you, Damon, Ric, and Jenna were at the Grill. And I also saw the way he looked at you when you weren’t looking, Y/n, and that man defiantly wanted to kiss you. Maybe even more.”
My mouth drops open, and I hear Elena and Caroline laughing beside us. “Shut up!”
“It’s true,” Matt raises three fingers, “Scouts Honor! I’m a guy, Y/n. Trust me when I say I know what a guy looks like when he wants a girl.”
I shake my head defiantly, “You’re all drunk and out of your minds.”
The door behind me opens, and I jump. “Holy hell! It’s the maniac killer! I told you all!”
I whip around and then sigh when it’s only Tyler: “False alarm. It's just the dog.”
Matt stands up and glares at the intruder.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to crash the party.”
“So don’t.”
At Matt’s words, I let out a little “oop.”
Caroline quickly sits up, “No, uh, it’s okay. Hi.”
Tyler turns his attention to the birthday girl, “Can I talk to you for a second? It’s kind of important.”
Caroline sighs and then nods her head. She begins to walk out, but I grab her hand, stopping her, “If he does anything, just scream, and I’ll be there to kick his ass for you.”
Caroline smiles softly and nods her head. She walks past Tyler, and I shoot him one last glare and then swipe a finger over my throat threateningly.
After they exit, Matt and I sit back down.
“Are you okay,” Elena asks Matt.
“Yeah, I want her to be happy, you know?”
I smile softly as I stare at the blonde boy. Not many people give him props, but I think he’s a pretty cool guy. If my best friend started dating my ex-boyfriend, I’d lose my shit.
“That’s what I want for all of you guys in the middle of this crazy life you got stuck living.”
Elena frowns, “Is that how you see it? That we’re stuck?”
“I don’t think that’s what he means, E,’’ I shake my head.
“No, I’d say it’s attached itself to all of you pretty tight, yeah,” Matt says and I just lean back.
“Bonnie’s right, you know I have no business messing in Jeremy’s head. I just don’t know what else to do. He's in danger here. I can’t lose anyone else that I love.”
Well, this night just got melodramatic.
“Great. We’ve been abandoned. We’re going on a search party. I don’t trust she won’t get back together with him,” Elena says as we step outside, trying to find Caroline.
Matt stands in front of us with a flashlight. I’m currently clutching onto Elena’s arm as I look wearily around the graveyard.
“Matt, you go first,” I nod ahead at the boy and then lean over to whisper to Elena, “He’s a guy, so the killer will take him first. Horror movie logic,” I nod, and she rolls her eyes at me and pulls me closer, “I’ll protect you.”
“Let’s hope those training sessions with Alaric have been working, or else we’re both dead.”
“Caroline!”
“Come on, Caroline! We don’t have anymore drinks, and Matt’s being haunted by the fell ghosts,” Elena walks us over to Matt.
I whip my head to Elena, “Hoe, don’t say that,” I look behind us quickly, “You’ll wake them up!”
When I turn back around, though, a scream escapes my throat as Matt is being thrown against the crypt wall.
“It’s the killer!! Run, Elena,” I tug on Elena’s hand, but everything goes black before I can take another step.
—
“Ugh,” I groan in pain at the fire coming from my temple.
“Y/n! Wake up,” Elena’s voice calls from somewhere around me.
“I got kidnapped again, didn’t I,” I groan as I slowly open my eyes and frown when I realize I’m in the backseat of Stefan’s car.
“That’s on me,” The vampire says as he doesn’t take his eyes off the road.
“Ya, no shit, Sherlock.”
Stefan pulls out his phone and dials a number before setting it up on the dash.
“Stefan, you are no longer my favorite Salvatore. And that really fucking sucks because the only other choice I have is Damon, and that’s a low bar.”
Stefan ignores me.
“Stefan, how nice to hear your voice,” I freeze up when a familiar British accent fills my ears.
“Tell your hybrids to get out of town, Klaus,” Stefan replies.
“Well, that’s not gonna happen until I get my coffins back.”
Stefan laughs, and a lousy feeling washes over me, “Okay, well, then I’m gonna drive your blood source and your obsession off Wickery Bridge.”
Tears instantly fill my eyes, “Stefan, what are you talking about?!”
“Y/n,” Klaus says my name sternly, “Stefan, I don’t believe you. You won’t kill them.”
I let out a gasp as Stefan harshly bites into his wrist and shoves it into Elena’s mouth. I scream when the car starts to swerve as Stefan no longer has his hands on the wheel.
“Y/n! What’s going on,” Klaus almost frantically yells into the phone.
Stefan sits back and grabs the wheel, “I just fed her my blood. No more hybrids if she’s a vampire.”
“You won’t do it,” Klaus says, and I want to cry because I know he will not relent.
“Really? Try me because your coffins are next to go. After, of course, I kill your pretty little mate, who is currently crying in my back seat. I didn’t figure it out at first, Klaus, but after some time, I did. Tell me, what happens to a hybrid after their human mate is killed?”
Mate? What the fuck is Stefan talking about?!
“She’s nothing to me, Stefan. I don’t know what delusions you’ve cooked up in that head of yours, but you're being delusional. Kill her, see if I care.”
Tears explode out of my eyes when I hear Klaus tell Stefan that.
“Stefan,” I sob, “Please don’t! Theo…Theo needs me, okay? I can’t leave him! Please don’t make me leave him!”
Elena quickly reaches behind her and grabs my shaking hand.
My breathing comes out erratic as I see the bridge come closer to us.
“Say goodbye to your family, Klaus,” Stefan growls as he floors it, and I let out a scream.
“Stefan, slow down!”
“Stefan, please stop!”
“Fine. I’ll send them away. You win,” Klaus relents, but Stefan doesn’t slow down.
“Stefan, please stop!!! Klaus, do something,” I yell hopelessly.
“Stop the car, Stefan! Or I swear to god,” Klaus yells into the phone. A moment later, I’m thrown forward as the car comes to a screeching halt.
I don’t think I’m breathing as I stare ahead wordlessly. My vision is blurred by the thousands of tears flowing down my face.
“Y/n! Come on,” I feel a tug on my shoulders, and I move on autopilot as I’m being forced out of Stefan’s car.
“Elena, Y/n, get in the car,” Stefan’s voice calls from behind us.
I don’t say anything as I stare blankly at the dark forest ahead of me. I can hear Elena and Stefan arguing, but I can’t focus on anything they say. All I can really hear is the loud beating of my heart.
A weight around my shoulders shocks me as I feel Elena weep into the corner of my neck.
“I’m so sorry, Y/n. I’m so sorry.”
“Come on, Pukey. Let’s go home.”
I look away from the dark pavement I have been staring at for the past 15 minutes and stare up at the blue-eyed vampire who is staring down at me. When I don’t say anything, Damon kneels to my sitting position.
“Shit,” Damon winces and reaches his hand up to softly touch my forehead, “He got you good, didn’t he?”
Damon brings his wrist to his mouth, and I quickly flinch away.
“Please, don’t,” I say, and more tears fall from my eyes.
Damon’s face drops, and he quickly puts his wrist down, “Ya, okay.”
Damon stares at me for a long moment as if thinking of what to do. With a sigh, I feel his hands go under my arms and legs, and I’m being picked up.
“I can walk,” I softly say.
“I highly doubt that,” Damon says back.
An hour later I’m sitting on my bathroom floor clutching the toilet. I’ve been throwing up for the past 15 minutes, and I don’t see any signs of stopping anytime soon.
My phone ringing catches my attention and I go to ignore it until I see Matt calling. Shit.
I pick up the phone and answer it, “We’re fine, Matt,” I try to get out even though my throat burns.
“Tyler bit Caroline.”
“Y/n? I didn’t think I’d hear from you,” Alastair sounds happy as he answers my call.
“Alastair,” I stop and take a sip of my water, trying to keep down more vomit.
“Y/n? What’s going on? What’s wrong?”
“I’ve had a long night,” I am able to get out, “I need a favor.”
“I’ll be right over.”
Alastair rushes up the steps of my porch, and he growls when he sees the condition I’m in.
“What the fuck happened? Who did this to you? I’ll kill them,” Alastair kneels in front of me and takes my face into his hands, accessing my face.
“I don’t matter. That's not why I called you,” I try to push him away, but I’m so dehydrated and tired that I really have no strength.
“Of course, you matter,” Alastair harshly says, “You matter more than practically anything.”
“Alastair, please. I don’t want to fight…I don’t think I can.”
At my weak words, Alastair nods, “Okay, let’s go inside and talk.”
I shake my head, “Elena’s asleep in my room. I don’t want to wake her. Besides, I need you to take me to Klaus.”
At the mention of the Original, Alastair freezes.
“What? Why?”
“Caroline,” I swallow, a sob building in my throat, “Tyler bit her. I need…Klaus needs to..”
Harsh breaths escape me, and Alastair doesn’t waste any time pulling me into him.
“I’ve got you. It’s okay. I’ve got you, babe.”
“Please, Alastair. I need to see him!”
Alastair doesn’t say anything for a moment, and I’m about to get on my knees and start begging, but I release a heavy sigh of relief once I feel him nod.
“Ya, okay. I’ll take you to him.”
“He lives here?”
I look up at the mansion, which looks like it’s in construction, and frown.
“We both do,” Alastair comes up from behind me and guides me up a massive staircase to the front door.
“I’m too exhausted to ask you about that right now,” I say weakly, and I hear him laugh.
I take a deep breath as Alastair steps in front of me and pushes open the enormous front door. He moves out of the way so I can enter, and even though the house/mansion is still being built, it’s still stunning.
“What is she doing here?”
Klaus seems to trigger my waterworks because as soon as I turn around and see him walking over to Alastair and me, the floodgates open.
“I hate you,” I try to say, but it comes out mostly in sobs.
I feel Alastair place a hand on my shoulder comfortingly, but I don’t take my eyes off of the Original.
Klaus watches me and then turns to Alastair, “Leave us.”
I feel my lip quiver as I wait for Alastair to follow his orders, but I feel Alastair’s hand tighten on my shoulder.
“No.”
Klaus narrows his eyes at the younger vampire, “What do you mean no?”
“I mean…no. I’m not leaving her. Not in the state.”
I watch Klaus glare at Alastair, and in fear of Klaus hurting another one of my friends, I turn to Alastair.
“Go, I’ll be okay.”
Alastair looks down at me and shakes his head.
“Go, Alastair, please.”
At my pleading, Alastair sighs profoundly and then nods his head, “I’ll be in the other room.”
I stare at my hands as I feel the door shut behind Alastair, leaving Klaus and me alone.
“Can I sit down, please,” I look up to Klaus with teary eyes.
The hybrid stares at me with furrowed brows before slowly nodding his head and gesturing to a bench in the corner of the room.
I place myself slowly on the bench and stare up at the man in front of me.
Klaus stands about 8 feet away, and for the first time, he almost seems uncomfortable. He has an odd expression on his face, his hands are shoved in his jeans, and he keeps switching his body weight from one foot to the other.
“Why did you do it?”
Klaus looks at me, “I do a lot of things, love. You’re going to have to be more specific.”
The entryway light flickers for a moment, and I let out a groan of pain as I clutch my head. The migraine I’ve been sporting all night is kicking my ass.
“Y/n,” Klaus’ voice calls to me, “What’s wrong?”
I don’t say anything, to focused on my pain, but I freeze when I feel a warm hand run its way through my messed-up hair. I release a quivering breath, and for some reason, I find myself leaning into the touch. Into his touch.
“Breathe, Astin Min,” Klaus’ voice seems to push through my pain, and I’m able to register his words, “Tell me what’s happening.”
I open my eyes and realize that Klaus is quite literally standing over me. His hand is still soothingly running itself up and down my hair. I also realize his body is quite literally touching mine. He’s standing between my knees, and in horror, I know I was resting my head on his lower abdomen. I fight back the horror and look up to see him already staring down at me, and I feel my breathing stop altogether. The look on his face has my bottom lip quivering. He’s looking down at me with this…softness. His eyebrows are squished together but not in the usual annoyed way. His eyes were once harsh and dark and light and filled with something so…human.
“I think…,” Klaus nods, waiting for me to continue, “I think I’m going to puke again.”
I quickly lean over and throw up into a potted plant.
Interestingly, though, Klaus’ hand doesn’t move from my head. It’s now holding back my hair as I defile this plant.
After I think I’ve finally thrown up everything I’ve ever consumed, I lean back. Klaus steps back a tiny step as well. And if I were a stronger woman, I’d say that I didn’t miss the feeling of him. But right now, I’m not a strong woman.
“You hurt my friend.”
I look up to Klaus, who stares down at me. I want to sob as I no longer see the once-soft look in his eyes. If it was even there at all. Maybe I imagined the whole fucking thing.
“I know.”
“Please heal her,” I softly ask.
Klaus stares down at me and shakes his head, “I can’t do that, Y/n.”
I bite down on my lip as it starts to quiver, “But you can. All you have to do is give me some of your blood, and then it’ll heal her. And everything will be ok,” I let out a small sob, “I need it to be all okay. Okay?”
Klaus continues to stare down at me, and I let out a loud sob when I see no change in his face.
I stand up on shaking legs and walk towards him.
“Please, Klaus. I know you hate me. Trust me, you’re not the only one; I’m not a likable person,” I let out a pathetic laugh, “And I’m nothing special, no witch, werewolf, doppelganger, or anything like that. I am not rich, so I can’t give you any money or anything worth value, but…I’m asking you,” I shake my head, “No, I’m begging you, please. Please help my friend. I’ll do anything you ask. Caroline…Caroline’s a good person, and she has a bright future. A bright future that she deserves. She’s my friend, and I don’t have many friends. Not that it matters to you, but…if there’s something I can give you. Please… please tell me.”
I stand there, pathetically crying, in front of the Original Hybrid.
With blurry vision, I watch his hand rise, and I close my eyes, accepting my fate, but once I feel his warm palm resting against my cheek and his thumb brushing away my tears, I let out yet another sob.
“I can do practically anything on this Earth, Astin Min. But, hating you? That is something I could never do. Even if I wanted to…even if I tried.”
I release a shaky breath, and maybe it’s because I’m fighting a nasty head injury, dehydration, and a severe lack of sleep, but I find myself leaning back into the man. And maybe because I’m a weeping teenage girl…or maybe not, but he lets me.
We stand there for what seems like forever, Klaus’ arms wrapped around my shaking body. But then I remembered why I had come there, and finding comfort in the man who was responsible made me pull away.
I don’t look back up to him, but I can feel his eyes on me.
“Alastair.”
Klaus’ voice calls, and within a split second, Alastair bursts into the room and looks at me—or really checks me over—almost like a worried mother.
Klaus moves away from me and over to a table in the other room. I watch silently as he grabs a glass, raises his hand to his mouth, and bites into it. He then lets his blood fill the glass.
“Take this to her friend,” Klaus says, walking back over to us and handing the glass to Alastair.
I release a relieved sigh.
Alastair nods and then gestures for me to follow, “Come on, Y/n.”
“No,” Klaus’s voice stops both of us. I’ll take her home. You bring that to her friend.”

Anyways it’s totally up to you if you want to use that and where you want to put it but yeah :)
Thank you lovely!! And everyone say thank you to Elle for her genius "Pads" idea ;)

cw: modern au, chronic pain, implicit mention of traumatic injury, blasphemous and untrue comments about Sirius' butt
poly!wolfstar x fem!reader ♡ 1.6k words
Sirius is a few minutes late to pick you up the next morning. A few more and you would’ve assumed he overslept, texted him to meet you at the rink, but Remus doesn’t make one comment about it. It seems that, like you, he finds that quips at Sirius’ expense aren’t as much fun when he’s not around to gripe at you for them.
When Sirius does come it’s with drinks, one in each hand and a third nestled in between his elbow and his side. He had to have gotten to the coffee shop only about the same time as the baristas if he’s getting them to you this early. You plant a kiss on his cheek, reading the meaning behind the gift, the apology he won’t say aloud. It’s quite the sacrifice for him to wake up that extra bit earlier. By the way Remus’ eyes soften as he takes his drink, he reads it, too.
Of course, once you set off the teasing commences.
“Do you not own a scarf?” Remus asks, eyeing Sirius’ wind-flushed cheeks. “Or a proper coat?”
“Oh, don’t come for his jacket.” You grin at him. “He’ll lose all his cool points if he trades that in.”
“I can either look good, or I can be warm,” Sirius says stiffly, though you can tell by his expression he isn’t truly offended. “You can’t have both.”
Remus doesn’t hesitate. “I’d rather be warm. You look like you have ice crystals forming on your nose.”
Sirius huffs. “Can I smoke now?”
“No,” you say primly. Remus appears to be hiding a grin.
Sirius rubs the bottom of his nose and lets the two of you rag on him all the way to the rink.
Practice is the same steady improvement, except for the death spiral. Remus is letting you grasp Sirius’ hands with both of yours for now, but you’re not bending your knee enough and Sirius’ leg is too far back. You haven’t even begun to tackle the jump you’re supposed to be launched into afterwards yet. But Remus is patient with you, and Sirius is more receptive to feedback than he has been since Peter. With the rest of your routine going so well, you’ve got time to perfect this one thing.
You’re whipping out of one of your other turns when a particular sort of smile breaks out over Sirius’ face. It’s one you know well, reserved only for one person. You don’t even need to look as he starts skating towards the edge of the rink.
“James,” you say, following him, “what’re you doing here so early?”
“I was given very strict instructions to make up for what happened yesterday.” James holds out a paper bag to Sirius, wrestling him into a hug. “It seemed best to comply.”
“I hope your gift comes with an excuse,” you tease, though when it’s your turn you hug him too. You love having James around. He brightens everything he looks at, especially Sirius.
“Well, it was Cam’s birthday,” James says as he squishes you to his front, “and he had to pick his mum up from the airport during our usual practice time. But my main excuse is that I didn’t realize it was yours we were stealing.”
Trust James to disrupt his entire team’s practice—and yours—for one guy’s birthday.
“You’re not forgiven,” says Sirius, popping a doughnut hole into his mouth. He sounds too pleased for his grudge to be even a little believable. “We couldn’t practice at all yesterday because of you.”
“Alright, then I’ll just have those back.”
Sirius moves quick to keep the doughnuts away from James, though he does hold one out to you.
“Mm, as I suspected,” James hums. “Anyway, I have to arrange practice for twenty three guys. You only have two, and from what I just saw you hardly need it.”
“Three,” you correct him. “But you haven’t met our new coach. This is—”
“Remus!”
James is looking over your shoulder, where Remus has come over from his spot at the bleachers to join you. You blink in surprise, but Sirius does a full double-take.
“Do you know each other?”
“Yeah.” Both boys are smiling, Remus faintly and James with his whole face, as usual. “Rem and I used to practice at the same time. Back when I would come out before the team to run drills.”
“A long time ago,” Remus agrees. A sympathetic bit of worry starts up in your chest, but he doesn’t have that same melancholic hue to his voice that he usually gets on the rare occasions someone gets him to talk about his skating career. He sounds almost nostalgic.
“Surprised I never ran into you,” Sirius says. He’s eyeing Remus, a familiar sort of possessiveness in his stance. You see Remus’ eyebrow lift like he notices it too.
“Wow.” James is still beaming. You’re beginning to feel inclined to follow suit. You already like Remus, but James’ stamp of approval means everything to Sirius. You’d like to see him try to hate your coach now. “When you said you got the best of the best, you really weren’t kidding, were you?”
You nod. “I told you.”
Remus’ cheeks start to pinken, and your smile becomes irrepressible.
“Right,” Remus mutters. “We’re losing practice time here. The doughnuts will be there when you get off the ice.”
“Well, they might.” James finally succeeds in stealing the bag away from Sirius, popping a squat on the bench. “I may feel inclined to snack while I watch. You don’t mind if I sit in on practice, do you?”
“No, of course not,” you say.
It wouldn’t make any sense for him to leave only to come back in half an hour when his practice begins. Plus, you know that no matter how many times Sirius skates in front of him, neither James’ wonderment nor the gratification Sirius gets from it ever wear off.
James whoops and hollers when either of you land even the simplest of jumps, and you see the two boys chatting behind the plexiglass. You see Sirius seeing them, too, his expression conflicted as he watches how well they get along.
Unbeknownst to either of you, Remus and James are watching you both with nearly equal amounts of awe, despite the fact that one of them has won heaps of gold medals in figure skating and the other couldn’t do an arabesque without falling on his face.
“God,” says James, watching you and Sirius go through the simple footwork leading up to your spin sequence, “they are good.”
“They are,” Remus agrees in a soft voice. His eyes are pinned to each of you, not analytical for once but simply appreciative. You and Sirius are art in motion. “They’re so in sync with each other, it’s incredible. I could have never done that with someone.”
He feels the weight of James’ gaze when the other boy looks at him sideways. “I wasn’t sure whether you’d want to hear from me after you left, but I wanted to say I’m sorry about what happened.”
“It’s fine, it’s hardly your fault.” The response comes easily to Remus’ tongue, a particular sort of muscle memory, well practiced during the months of grief following his injury. “Thank you, though.”
“Is it nice to be back?”
“Yeah, actually. I didn’t think it would be, but they’ve been good to work with.” Remus doesn’t know precisely what lulls the honesty out of him, but James has always had this effect. Even when they were little more than acquaintances, he felt like he could tell him anything. “They’re amazing to watch, and they…well they keep me on my toes.”
James laughs. “I bet they do.”
A comfortable silence descends over the two boys. They only watch you, your jumps and spins and the natural, effortless way you flow around each other on the ice. That is, until Sirius falls on his ass.
He hits the ice hard enough that you can hear the oof he makes upon contact. You skid to a halt immediately, sliding onto your knees beside him.
“Did you hit your head?” you ask him, slipping your palm beneath his skull to feel around.
Sirius only groans an elongated, passionate, “Fuck,” and rolls onto his side.
“Sirius,” you say more urgently. “What did you hurt?”
“Did he hit his head?” You look over to see Remus standing in the entryway to the rink. He looks like he’s contemplating coming out on the ice.
“No,” Sirius finally answers you both, loud enough that Remus and James can hear. “Just my ass.”
“That’s alright then,” James calls back. “It was flat to begin with.”
Sirius sits up to glare at him, a smile tugging at his lips. He rubs his tailbone.
“Asshole,” you mumble, nudging his shoulder gently. “You scared me.”
“I fucking scared me, I thought I broke something. That hurt.”
“Am I going to have to get you pads like an amateur?” Remus asks as he steps out of the entryway, silently encouraging you both off the ice. James lets out a riotous bark of laughter.
“Oh my god, please do,” he begs Remus as you both skate over to them. “It would be so fun to watch him compete at the Olympics in those.”
“Who invited you anyway?” Sirius gripes. The effect is lessened when he winces upon sitting down.
Remus rolls his eyes and passes him the bag of doughnuts. “Make sure to ice it, Pads.”
You turn your face towards the skates you’re unlacing to hide your smile, but James makes no such effort. His booming laughter will probably echo through the rink for years to come.
Sirius makes sure you get your fair share of the doughnuts. They don’t even make it out of the rink with you.
“That was interesting,” you say, tossing the empty bag into the trash as Sirius holds the door open for you. “Funny that they already knew each other. James seems to really like him.”
Sirius frowns. “Apparently.”
“Probably makes you think, huh?”
“Shut up.”

QUIET KICKS | batfam x pregnant! batsis! reader
DC COMICS MASTERLIST | WARNINGS: pregnancy, complicated relationships,
It started small.
No one noticed at first. When Y/N dropped out of patrol for a “mental reset,” everyone figured it was burnout. That life was catching up. That being a Wayne and a vigilante meant she needed to breathe before she broke.
And maybe that was partly true.
But the real reason sat under her hoodie, growing by the week.
At 10 weeks, she officially stopped suiting up.
Barbara raised an eyebrow during their video call. “Since when do you take breaks?” she teased. “Last time you had a dislocated shoulder and still limped through the warehouse raid.”
Y/N just smiled. “Trying out the whole ‘self-care’ thing, you know? Big fan of not being thrown into concrete.”
Babs didn’t buy it, not really. But she let it go. For now.
At 13 weeks, Cass showed up at her apartment unannounced.
She stood outside with a coffee and a cinnamon roll. Y/N hesitated before opening the door—her hoodie just barely zipped up.
“You’re off,” Cass said after five minutes. She was direct like that.
Y/N chuckled nervously. “Is that your way of saying I look like crap?”
“No. You’re glowing. But… tired. Hiding.”
Cass stared too deeply. Too long. Y/N shifted behind the counter, hiding her stomach.
“Just worn out,” she lied.
Cass blinked slowly. She didn’t believe her. But she nodded.
At 15 weeks, Steph sent her memes all night and didn’t get a single reply. The next day, she cornered her on Facetime.
“You’re ghosting me,” Steph said, arms crossed. “You never ghost me. Even when you’re dying, you send at least one gif.”
“Been sleeping a lot,” Y/N said. “Sorry, hormonal. Cranky. Didn’t wanna snap.”
Steph squinted. “Hormonal? You sick or something?”
Y/N froze for half a second too long.
Steph leaned in. “Wait. Wait. What aren’t you telling me?”
Y/N forced a grin. “Just PMS stuff. Relax.”
Steph didn’t. She talked to Cass later. They looped in Babs.
A quiet investigation began.
The girls didn’t tell the boys yet. Or Bruce. They decided to try to coax it out of her instead.
So at 17 weeks, they planned an ambush brunch. Y/N showed up in a baggy sweater dress and a long trench coat, claiming she “was just cold.”
They talked. Ate. Laughed. She was still her—just… more cautious. A little slower sitting down. She pressed a hand to her stomach once when she thought no one was looking.
Cass noticed. Babs did too. And Steph? Steph reached out suddenly across the table and said, “If you’re pregnant, you know we’ll love the baby, right?”
Y/N froze. Her fork clattered.
Silence. The table went still. She stared at them. “I’m not—”
“Don’t lie,” Cass said softly.
Y/N’s eyes burned. Her breath caught. “I didn’t want to tell anyone yet,” she whispered. “Not even the father knows. We… it’s complicated. And I didn’t want to drag you all into it before I figured out how to be okay with it myself.”
Steph grabbed her hand. “You don’t have to hide from us.”
Barbara smiled gently. “You’re family. We protect our own. Even the tiniest ones.”
Y/N blinked hard. Tears slipped out before she could stop them. They didn’t push her for the name. Or the father.
They just held her. Whispered support. Laughed about onesies and argued about which of them would be the “cool aunt.”
And when Y/N felt that little kick under the table—the first one she’d felt during the day—she smiled through her tears.
Because for the first time in weeks, she didn’t feel like she was carrying a secret. She felt like she was carrying something
Y/N sat on her couch, hands cradling her now unmistakable bump, the sunlight leaking in through her curtains.
The brunch with the girls was three days ago.
Cass had started sending baby name suggestions via coded messages.
Steph ordered a “Best Aunt Ever” mug.
Barbara offered to hack medical databases for prenatal care access like a true Oracle.
But one thing still weighed like a brick on Y/N’s heart.
Hal didn’t know.
It had been months of silent panic. Of missed calls. Of “I’m fine, just tired” texts and white lies that tasted worse every time she said them.
He wasn’t absent, exactly. Just… off-world. Lantern duties. Cosmic threats. And when he was around, they met in secret. Quiet dinners. Stolen nights. His hand always warm against hers.
She hadn’t seen him in three weeks. But he was back now. She saw it in the JL logs.
And tonight—tonight she had to tell him.
11:47 p.m.
Her finger hovered over the call button. Then pressed. Hal answered on the second ring, voice bright and cocky like always. “Well, well. I was just thinking about you, sweetheart. Missed me that bad?”
She didn’t even answer at first. Her throat tightened. “…Y/N?”
“I need to tell you something,” she said quietly. A pause. His voice dipped low. “You okay?”
“Yeah. I just… I’ve been avoiding you.”
“Babe, I kinda figured. I thought maybe you needed space. Or your Bat-brood was clamping down.”
“No. It’s not that.” He went silent. Then, softer: “You’re scaring me.” She closed her eyes. Took a breath. “I’m pregnant, Hal.”
Static silence. “…What?”
“I found out a while ago. I didn’t know how to say it. I didn’t want to drag you into something life-altering without knowing how you’d react.” Another long pause. Then he laughed—not mocking, not cruel, just stunned. Disbelieving.
“Wait. Wait. You’re serious?”
“Yes.”
“I’m gonna be a dad?”
“…Yeah.” Her voice broke. “You’re gonna be a dad.”
There was a sound like he dropped something—maybe his ring had glitched mid-hover. Maybe he actually sat down. She imagined him in some motel room lit by neon signs, hand over his mouth.
And then: “Holy sh—I mean—wow. Wow.”
Y/N blinked fast. “If you’re gonna freak out, just—do it now. I already told the girls. I’m prepared.”
“No, hey—Y/N.” His voice steadied. “No freaking out. Okay? I’m—this is big. It’s massive. But I’m not bailing. Not now. Not ever.”
“You’re not… mad?”
“Mad? I’m the luckiest guy in the galaxy. I just… I need a second to catch up. You’re pregnant.” She smiled through her tears. “Seventeen weeks.”
“Seventeen weeks?! Oh, I’m so dead. Bruce is going to put me in a gravity well.”
“Don’t tell him,” she whispered.
He snorted. “Who do you think I am? I like breathing.” Y/N wiped her face. “So… you’re good? You want to be part of this?”
“Absolutely. I want all of it. The weird cravings, the mood swings, the late-night kicks—hell, I’ll build a crib out of hard light if you want me to.” She laughed. “You might need to.”
“I’ll be there tomorrow,” he said. “Whatever else is going on—this comes first.” Y/N closed her eyes. “Okay.”
“You’re not alone, Y/N. You never were.” She rested a hand over the steady kick under her ribs. “…I know that now.”
THE NEXT DAY
The knock on the door was gentle. Hesitant. It was also glowing green. Of course it was.
Y/N stood frozen in her apartment, one hand resting under her bump like a reflex. She hadn’t seen Hal in person in almost a month. She hadn’t told him she was showing. Not really. Not in pictures. Not in video calls.
But here he was.
She opened the door slowly. And there he stood, in civilian clothes—a bomber jacket, jeans, slightly scuffed boots, and the world’s most awkward grin.
In one hand: a bouquet of slightly squished peonies and daisies. n the other: a neon-green construct of floating toys—stackable rings, a rattle, a stuffed alien bear, and something that suspiciously resembled a baby-sized power ring.
“Hey,” he said.
Y/N’s eyes welled up immediately.
“You brought toys.”
“I panicked.” He stepped in slowly, eyes glued to her. “I didn’t know what to get. I figured flowers were for you, toys were for the little peanut.”
She laughed, her voice cracking. “The peanut?”
“What, you got a name already?” he teased, stepping closer.
His voice lowered as his eyes fell to her bump, more visible now that she wore a fitted shirt instead of her usual loose hoodie. His breath caught.
“Wow.” He looked genuinely stunned. “It’s… real.”
She nodded, swallowing thick emotion. “Yeah. Kind of hard to ignore now.”
“Can I—?”
She took his hand and gently guided it to her stomach. His fingers trembled a little. And then—just faintly—kick.
His eyes widened. “Oh, sh—” He stopped himself. “Oh, stars.”
Y/N smiled through her tears. “That’s been happening more often.”
“You feel that all the time?”
She nodded.
Hal exhaled, rubbing gentle circles. “You’ve been doing this all alone. All this time.”
“I didn’t want to pressure you.”
He shook his head. “You’re not pressure. You’re—you’re it.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Wow. That was almost romantic.”
“Hey, don’t make me recite space poetry. It exists. It’s weird.”
She snorted.
He looked up at her, the grin faltering into something more serious.
“I mean it. I want to be in this. I want to do this with you. The diaper disasters, the night feeds, the awkward ‘don’t touch that, that’s radioactive’ talks. All of it.”
“You’re not scared?” she asked softly.
“I’m terrified,” he said immediately. “But I’m more scared of you going through this thinking I wouldn’t want to be here.”
Y/N finally let herself lean into him, arms wrapping around his waist, her face buried in his shoulder. He held her so carefully, one hand protectively on her back, the other never leaving her stomach.
“You’re going to be such a chaotic dad,” she mumbled.
He chuckled against her hair. “Only fair. Our kid’s gonna have Bat-blood and Lantern trouble in their veins.”
She pulled back and looked up at him. “We’re going to have to tell the others. Eventually.”
Hal groaned dramatically. “Ugh. Your brothers are going to string me up.”
“Cass, Steph, and Babs already know.”
“Traitors. Should’ve recruited them to the Corps.”
Y/N laughed, and it felt easier this time. Lighter. Safer.
They sat down on the couch a few minutes later, her feet in his lap, one of his arms around her, his other hand still toying with the stuffed alien bear he’d made.
“You know,” she said, eyeing the plush, “you didn’t do terrible.”
“Thank you,” he said proudly. “I googled ‘baby toy that doesn’t look cursed.’”
“Impressive restraint.”
“I’m trying. For you. And peanut.”
The baby kicked again—maybe just to punctuate the moment. Hal grinned so big it lit up the whole room.
Outside the window, Cass sat perched on the opposite rooftop, sipping tea like a sniper.
“Target: secured,” she whispered into the mic.
Steph’s voice crackled back. “Lantern is IN. I repeat: Lantern is IN.”
Barbara, from the comms channel: “Tell him he’s not getting out of diaper duty. I don’t care if it’s intergalactic.”

Hal had only wanted a crib.
That’s it. One normal, not-made-of-hard-light, Earth-certified, non-collapsing baby crib that didn’t look like it came out of a cursed Pinterest board.
He’d even been doing well—he had narrowed it down to one that looked “safe and dad-like.” He was winning.
Until the voice hit him like a batarang to the kidneys.
“Hal? What are you doing in Gotham?”
He flinched so hard he nearly knocked over a display of cloud-shaped mobiles. Turning slowly, he found himself face to face with Bruce Wayne: tailored coat, unreadable eyes, and the kind of energy that said I’ve already solved seven crimes before lunch.
“Oh,” Hal croaked. “Hey, Bats—Bruce. Just, uh. Browsing.”
Bruce’s gaze dipped to the crib display.
Then narrowed.
“…At a baby store?”
“Looking at cribs?”
Hal nodded way too fast. “Yep. My girlfriend’s pregnant.”
A beat of silence.
“Congratulations,” Bruce said finally. “I didn’t know you were in a relationship—let alone a serious one.”
Hal snorted. “Like you’re one to talk…”
Bruce’s eyes sharpened like they were calculating a heat signature off Hal’s forehead.
“I see.”
Hal grabbed the crib box like a life preserver. “This one’s great. Five stars. Sturdy. No sharp corners. Doesn’t look like it’ll collapse and yeet my kid.”
Bruce blinked. “Yeet?”
“Yeah, you know—modern slang for catastrophic child ejection. Anyway. Never mind. Forget I said that.”
Bruce said nothing, which was worse than anything he could’ve said. His stare bore into Hal’s skull like a drill.
Hal coughed and tugged at his collar. “Sooo, you should… go. Or stay. Or not interrogate me. That’d be fantastic.”
Without breaking eye contact, Bruce calmly reached into his coat pocket and handed Hal a business card.
Embossed. Clean. Gold lettering.
“My contact for pediatricians. Private. Trusted.”
Hal blinked down at the card. “Wait—you’re giving me dad resources? You’re not mad?”
Bruce tilted his head. “Should I be?”
That. That was it. That was the line.
The one that meant: I know you’re hiding something. I just haven’t pulled it out of your skull yet.
Hal’s grin was so fake it practically squeaked. “Noooope. Everything is totally, completely fine and unrelated to any Bat-family members. No connections whatsoever. Thank you. You’re the best. Cool card. Love this vibe. Really healthy.”
Bruce took one last look at him. Then at the crib. Then at Hal again.
“Good luck,” he said softly. And walked away.
Just like that.
But Hal didn’t exhale until Bruce was gone.
He slumped forward over the crib, muttering into the mattress pad:
“Ohhh no. Ohhh hell. He’s gonna figure it out. He’s Batman. He already knows.”
A kid nearby picked up a plastic rattle and started slamming it against a toy box.
Hal pointed at him. “Exactly. That’s my future.”
He sighed, gripping the crib like it could shield him from the World’s Greatest Detective.
“This thing’s got more parts than a fighter jet.”
Hal muttered the words under his breath as he stared at the disassembled crib pieces laid out across Y/N’s living room floor. Screws, bolts, bars, and instructions that looked more like ancient scrolls—it was chaos. Plastic bags littered the floor. There was already one piece he was convinced didn’t belong to any crib.
Y/N sat on the couch, a pillow tucked behind her back, tea in hand, trying not to laugh too hard.
“You could just use your ring,” she offered sweetly.
Hal shook his head immediately, jaw set like a man on a mission. “No shortcuts. This is sacred work. Crib construction is a rite of passage. It’s gotta be done by hand.”
“With your manual labor and dad-muscles?”
He flexed one arm, completely straight-faced. “Exactly. Can’t have my baby thinking I’m some lazy light show.”
She rolled her eyes, the corner of her mouth lifting into a smile.
“You’re such a dork.”
“And you chose me. Sucks to be you.”
He fumbled with a screw, then cursed softly when it rolled under the couch. She just laughed, sipping her tea with an amused little hum.
After a while, she got up and waddled over to sit beside him on the floor, her legs crossed slowly. “You know,” she started gently, “I’m hosting dinner at the manor this weekend.”
Hal, halfway through attaching the crib railing, paused. “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah. All of them are coming. The whole Bat-family.”
He looked up slowly. “Like… all of them all of them?” She nodded, watching him carefully. “I’m going to tell them.”
Hal sat back on his heels, screwdriver still in hand. “…Tell them about the baby?”
“Yeah.”
He blinked. “And you’re sure it’s a dinner and not a trial by combat?” She smacked his arm. “I’m serious.”
“I know. I just…” He ran a hand through his hair. “Wow. Okay. That’s big.”
“They deserve to know. And I’m tired of hiding. It’s not just my life anymore. It’s theirs, too.” He looked at her belly, softening. “You’re right.” Her hand rested over his. “I want you there.” Hal froze. “Me?”
“Yes, you,” she said. “You’re their father, Hal. And you’re mine.”
He swallowed, throat dry. “You’re really doing it. Bat-family dinner. Pregnancy reveal. Me at the table.”
She smiled. “You nervous?”
“I’m terrified.”
She giggled, resting her head on his shoulder. “You’ll be fine. You’re building a crib with your bare hands. If that’s not bravery, I don’t know what is.”
He chuckled, wrapping his arm around her. “You really think they’ll go easy on me?”
“Absolutely not.”
“…Yeah, that tracks.”
Hal stood over the crib, tools scattered everywhere, sweat clinging to his brow. But it was done. Built. Solid. Standing tall like a tiny fortress.
“No alien help. No ring tricks. Just pure, raw, dad energy.” He looked proud. Y/N came up beside him, resting a hand on the edge. “It’s perfect.”
He kissed her temple, soft and slow. “We’re gonna be okay.” She nodded, voice small. “Yeah. I think we will.”

Wayne Manor was glowing.
Alfred had outdone himself. The long dining table was set with polished silver, gleaming candles casting soft, flickering light over everything. The good china was on display—an immediate warning that this was not a dinner for casual conversation.
Y/N stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the soft fabric of her dress, a trench coat over it— one hand smoothing over her barely-there bump. Her other hand, however, was tightening around Hal’s, who was currently trying to make himself as invisible as possible.
“You ready?” she asked, her voice steady but the slight tremor in her smile betraying her nervousness.
Hal, already sweating through the collar of his suit, tugged at it for the fifth time. “Absolutely not.”
“You look handsome,” she said, her voice gentle, reassuring.
“I look like I’m about to walk into a supervillain intervention.”
Y/N grinned. “You kind of are.”
His eyes widened, and he shot her a panicked glance. “Thanks, that makes me feel so much better.”
She kissed his cheek quickly and gave his hand a comforting squeeze, tugging him toward the dining room. As they entered, the Bat-family was already gathered, looking as polished and dangerous as usual, their eyes immediately locking onto the unfamiliar face at Y/N’s side.
Bruce Wayne stood at the head of the table, arms folded, his gaze sharp and calculating. His eyes narrowed the moment he saw Hal.
Beside him stood Selina Kyle, her gaze flicking between the two with a raised brow. Then there was Damian, the youngest but certainly not the quietest, who barely spared a glance at Hal before turning his attention to Y/N.
Cassandra Cain, Barbara Gordon, Jason Todd, Duke Thomas, Stephanie Brown, Tim Drake, and Dick Grayson all sat at the table, their eyes moving over Hal like he was a puzzle they were trying to solve. Kate Kane stood near the back, her arms crossed, and Alfred, as always, was overseeing everything with a knowing smile, clearly anticipating the chaos that was about to unfold.
Y/N stood in front of them, holding Hal’s hand tightly, and cleared her throat. “This is… my boyfriend, Hal. Hal Jordan.”
The room fell silent. “And he is the father of my child, I’m pregnant.”
Bruce’s glare could have melted steel, and the tension in the air was palpable. Even Selina seemed to be holding back a comment, while the others exchanged silent, knowing looks.
Hal tried his best to remain casual, though his smile was tight, his posture stiff. He cleared his throat. “Nice to meet you all.”
Damian, of course, was the first to break the silence.
“So, you weren’t fat? Just pregnant?” he asked, blunt as ever, his arms crossed, eyebrow raised in suspicion.
Y/N blinked, her face flushing a deep red. “Yes, Damian. Thanks for that.”
Damian gave a small nod of approval. “You’re welcome.”
The rest of the Bat-family seemed to struggle with either laughter or disbelief. Tim’s eyes flicked between Y/N and Hal, trying to process everything. Stephanie couldn’t hold back a snicker, while Dick looked at Hal with an eyebrow raised, as if silently daring him to say something that would make this more entertaining.
Bruce, however, was silent, his gaze still locked on Hal, studying him. There was no denying the simmering anger just beneath the surface, but whether it was directed at Hal himself or the situation in general, no one could quite tell. Selina, though, gave a small, amused smirk, clearly entertained by the tension.
“Well, I guess now we know,” Stephanie said, her voice laced with laughter, “you’re really full of surprises, Y/N.”
Y/N shot her a sharp look, then let out a sigh, squeezing Hal’s hand tighter.
“I wasn’t sure how to tell you all,” she admitted, her voice soft. “But now, I guess you know. Hal and I… we’re expecting.”
The room was silent for a few heartbeats. Then the questions began.
“Wait, you?” Tim blurted out, still processing. “Green Lantern? Really?”
“Green Lantern?” Duke’s voice was slightly incredulous. “Seriously?”
Bruce finally spoke up, his voice deep and controlled. “You’re sure about this?”
Y/N nodded firmly. “I’m sure.”
Hal, sensing the disapproval, took a step forward. “I get it. I know I’m not the ideal boyfriend material you were hoping for, but I’m here. And I’m not going anywhere.”
Cassandra’s gaze softened slightly, but she said nothing.
“I’m not as bad as he looks,” Hal continued, half-joking. “Although I’d probably get in trouble for that one.” He glanced at Bruce, who hadn’t broken his glare once.
Dick, always the peacemaker, tried to lighten the mood. “So, uh, are we throwing a baby shower, or is that going to be the next surprise?”
Y/N laughed, shaking her head. “You guys are ridiculous.”
But despite the teasing, there was a warmth to the way the family shifted, a sort of grudging acceptance as they realized that maybe—just maybe—this was all going to be okay.
Bruce was still glaring at Hal, but there was something else there now. The faintest flicker of understanding, maybe even approval. He nodded once, short and clipped.
“Don’t mess this up,” he muttered, his tone somehow both a warning and a blessing.
Hal smiled, even if it was a little strained. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
