If you could revive any character, who would it be and why?

Honest to god, I hate consuming media where people die. I mean, I like some good angst don’t get me wrong (there are exceptions obviously. We’re all happy when certain bitches be dyin), but really if someone important to the story dies or just a character I happened to really like for whatever reason, most of the time I’m like wow that’s lame. makes my depression go brrrrr

That said, I would love it if everybody in Death Note was just alive. I know that’s not what Death Note is about and Light’s a motherfucker and all that, but just think of how funny that would be. If Death Note was one of those animes where nobody died for real, like the ones where they say sike and the person comes back with some off-the-wall explanation to placate the raging fans?? holy shit would that be hilarious or what. Especially since dn is all about logic. All those geniuses would be losing their God damn minds.

I think though, if I had to pick just one, I’d pick Mello. Not because he’s my fav or because I think he deserves it, but because I know in the follow-up manga, Near is an adult and Alive, and I just get sad thinking about how all his friends are dead. It would’ve been cool if he and Mello would’ve gotten some more time to smooth things out and become friends again. They could’ve grown up and dealt with the all the second-manga stuff together. Just a nice thought for me. 

If I had a double-revive, I’d definitely do L and Light tho just for shits and giggles, but I wouldn’t bring back just one of them. They either both have to stay dead or they both gotta be alive to fuck each other's day.

okay mello is my favorite character hands down because (im a dumb fucking matt kinnie, i want to kiss him on the mouth /j) he is literally just like. idk how to explain it well but for starters, hes smart as fuck and near himself even admitted he wouldnt have solved the Kira case without what mello did but people never give him credit for it and it gets on my fucking nerves. him doing bad things bc he is trying to reach a good goal does not make him an inherently bad person, that makes him morally grey, and even if he was a bad person, you should still credit his efforts towards getting justice like you credit L who literally has admitted he takes cases bc he likes to win and likes to be entertained, not because he actually gives a shit. theres also the fact that hes basically do or die in the most literal way possible. he was just like yo if I'm gonna solve this case then ig I'm just gonna do what L refused to do even tho he literally couldve and gotten away with it—break the fucking law in so many ways, recruit people who are willing to die for this and also I will be willing to die for this case myself. him and matt both died for the case because they knew it might be necessary and they went in absolutely okay with that fact. theres also the fact that he knowingly helped near with the case despite him hating nears guts, he recruited matt who wasnt even his friend, just someone he knew from Wammys who he knew would be able to handle his bitchy ass and take orders and then he also worked his way up to be a mafia boss while being a teenager all for, yet again, the fucking case. he is not only the most driven motherfucker but he is able to keep being driven even when he has to deal with people he doesnt like—sure, he'll bitch and moan, but he'll still provide information, he'll still work with people if it's a necessity, and I think that should be talked about more!! mello is so fucking complex and so fucking poggers and I love the dumb fuck to death!!

Came up with some STUPID dn ocs after talking with a friend, in that they take the role of misa but not for misogynist reasons just bc actually misa deserves better than to have to deal with any of the plot of dn in the first place. The good timeline misa route is her never coming into contact with anything supernatural nor l*ght y*g*m* and she just gets therapy and a girlfriend and continues her successful modelling/acting/fashion/music career. ALSO it’s to just fuck w/ dn’s plotline bc like...it’s a fun story but all of the plot choices and characterizations are very heavyhanded in terms of “this is the trajectory we’ve got plotted out and we will do everything in our power to make it happen”. so like, death of the author.

anyway I ended up writing a short fic abt them that’s mostly about Rem, and i talked at left w/ a friend abt them so i’m posting that under the cut for the sake of continuing the habit of being On My Own Bullshit thank you everyone.

Also congratulations in this plotline they have gained survivor’s guilt a la Rem telling them about how they’re literally living on borrowed time, and also their would-be murderer killing them. (*narrator voice* this will be plot relevant later) Also the would-be murderer character is a Relevant Character that while i’m still fleshing out is integral to their character arc. We long emotional rollercoasters and non-static characters in this bitch.

Yuzu, 23, graduate biomed student, busy and stressed

Vaguely based on 2 people I know who are both bio majors so at least there’s real world knowledge backing up the understanding of this character. Not about biomed specifically tho, oh absolutely not.

Thurs & Yuzu’s dynamic is basically the opposite of near and mello, or what my understanding of near and mello, in that Thurs is small and autistic and Feeling Openly, while Yuzu’s main feeling is Being Kind Of A Bitch, but with good intent, But Still A Bitch. She has a sensitive core under 14 layers of barbed wire, and gets a bit pedantic in her logic that she ends up sort of seeing the forest without caring for the trees. Chill.

Kol, 27, works as an art teacher at the community center and has friends who work in the children’s theatre department so he volunteers there sometimes too.

Kol is like “im here i guess, but do i need to be? Be no i’ll be here I just want to put on record i am Not qualified to be an authority figure in this kind of situation and would prefer if it was anyone else”, but also secretly he’s on all levels 1 bad week away from becoming just completely unhinged, but despite this he’s also the one who’s closest to achieving self-actualization and thus the most well-adjusted out of them all. Hence, a Real Adult.

And while he hates his role as the Responsible one he’s also tbh? Kind of jamming to the concept of shinigami, not in the murder department, but in the “Rem! If you’re willing we could make some really fun homebrew ghost footage Are You In?” he is but a man who enjoys DIY art. Also he has never read a book so jot that down. 

So they didn’t even have names originally i just mentally refered to them as X, Y, & Z / wrote them as such in my phone note rem POV fic, However i have the facts about them now.

Thursday’s character summed up is “i WILL cry and this IS a threat”, Yuzu’s is “what, you mean you Wouldn’t use the death note? Pussy”, and Kol is at all times resisting the urge of asking Thursday if they can borrow ownership of the DN and introduce Rem to his friends in the theatre department.The potential for shinigami special effects haunt his dreams.

Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go?

hmm, they both initiated the relationship? ykwim? They both notices they had feelings for each other and just...go from there. they never have like a relationship talk, they just go with the flow until at some point they starts to get comfortable to refer the other as partners. They basically can read each other's mind, after all.

Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like?

Yes, sort of. A tennis game! And a coffee sesh after, just like canon. They plan this to be just "let's just relax, this case has been really exhausting, take a one day break, L" but when Light got home, sayu asked "how's the date going?!" He immediately said "it's not a date, you watch too many dramas it's rotting your brain" And sachiko gave him a smile while shaking her head at this statement and when he's back to his room he immediately calls L and was like "hey does that count as a date?" and L answers with "depends, do you want it to be?" with a smirk that light can hear.

What was their first kiss like?

it was late at night, light was helping L with the case when everybody went home. they were sharing their view about this certain criminal when light notices L staring at his lips, first he ignored it but it happens again and again to a point where their face just got real close and then...kiss, somehow. idk lmao.

Sayu likes L, Sachiko is kinda surprise Light doesn't date a typical pretty person, but it only makes her heart fonder. L doesn't mind them, he thinks they're nice, light grew up in a good place. Light, obviously. Because he's a charmer and if L takes control, the person they speak to would run immediately the first 2 minutes.

it is a universal knowledge that L does this. like, come on, count the fics, you can't, there's just so many. he loves to break that perfect wall and make light feel 🥴😳. it's entertaining. Who said “I love you” first?

Light!! The thing is it was said over the phone. He gets more and more comfortable talking with L through calls, since every now and then L travel frok countries to countries. One time he just like "yeah, safe flight. love you, bye" he expected L to say goodnight to him as a response as usual but L was silent and he realised what he just said and realised that he fucking mean it. L seems to still be able to read his mind even thousands miles away so he replies with "i love you too, goodnight". they never missed seeing each other more than that night.

we had a discussion for this! but as we see in canon, they're both very acts of service with a little hint of physical touch here and there. quality time is also important. words and gift aren't really needed for them.

L. Only to annoy light. It's terrible that he almost cringed to himself, but it does bring a good laugh for light.

PDA is a not their preference, they just love being in private more. They might hold hands sometimes, butmost times they won't. Altho they always stand or sit reaaaaally glued to each other even though there are so many space.

both. they want it, they got it. but light gives light kisses (ha) more, not necessarily on the lips, usually when L was really busy working, keeping his feet on the ground.

they don't do nicknames, really. although, L sometimes called light with some snarky tony stark styled nicknames when he feels particularly playful but annoyed at the same time.

If they get married, who proposes?

It's not really a proposal, they didn't  even remember who said it first. But one sleepy night after a hard case, someone said "hey you wanna get married" and the other was like "sure, why not" "really?" "yeah, i think i'm ready, you?" "me too" "great" and then they go to sleep. at breakfast the next morning L called watari from across the room and said "wammy i need you to prepare [enter marriage stuff here], and light, you must call your family after this". poor old watari chokes on his tea.

What’s the wedding like? Who attends?

The wedding is in a secluded little place near the wammy's house, L used to go there a lot as a kid. With just light's parents, sayu, and watari. Well, not until Light caught Mello, Matt, Near, and Linda peeping from the bushes

A chunky cat the wammy's kids feed daily but never try to keep them in, because no animals are allowed inside the orphanage. L saw it and was like "light let's bring this bitch home" she is, indeed a little bitch, but light and L loves her dearly. her fur has light brown and black colors, like both of their hairs, so she becomes their daughter, L gave him a weird ass name but i can't think about it rn.

Who kills the bugs in the house?

Light because he's the one who's actually bothers to. They ofc annoyed L but he cpuldnt care less to actually get rid of them.

Who’s more likely to convince the other to come back to sleep in the morning?

L. He rarely sleeps and once he did, he wakes up very fucking late and will pull light back to the bed if he's woken up by the empty space beside him.

Who’s the better cook?

Light. L is a spoiled brat. But Light can't bale for shit, that's Watari's job. Light grow up learning and helping his mom making meals for the family. He's not the best, but it's good enough to make L craves them in between his sweets.

None of them. But they would slow dance on rare, sentimental occasions. And it's like so fucking romantic bcs all the lights are off except for a candle or a table lamp or a cabinet lamp whatever that has yellow-y dim light.
