Happy Mother's Day (a post finale ficlet)
When Lena wakes up in Kara’s childhood bedroom in Midvale with a rock sitting at the bottom of her stomach, Kara is characteristically quick to notice.
“Hey, what’s up?” she asks, even as the clouds of sleep slowly blink from her eyes. “Everything okay?”
Lena nods, though she knows it doesn’t fool Kara. “I’m fine,” she promises. “Go back to sleep.”
Kara does—or at least pretends to, giving Lena room to slip quietly from the room. The dawn still lurks behind the horizon, the sky visible from the wraparound porch the deep blackish blue of a world yet to wake.
The cool air of the early morning brings a measure of comfort, bracing and peaceful after the weight in her chest that had woken her. She knows the root of it, but refuses to acknowledge it, or look too closely, lest her understanding of reality shift beyond repair. She remains there until she hears the shuffle of other bodies moving within the house. The sun is well risen by then, and Kara’s hair glints especially golden as she gives her foster mother’s cheek a kiss with a soft murmur.
“Happy Mother’s Day.”
It’s not the first time they’ve spent the holiday in Midvale. It’s not even the first time that Kelly and Alex have joined the population of celebrants. No, since Lex’s defeat and subsequent exile to the Phantom Zone, they’ve spent several Mother’s Days in Eliza’s home. It’s warm and bright and full of life. The perfect place to appreciate the mothers in their lives. And yet.
Kara sidles up to Lena, wrapping an arm around her waist. She presses a kiss to Lena’s temple. She doesn’t ask, but Lena knows she knows the heavy thoughts haven’t abated. Kara issues a simple promise in the sidelong hug—whenever you’re ready.
Ready doesn’t come until after dinner that evening, when Lena retreats once more to the porch. This time Kara joins her on the bench swing, her palm resting warmly on Lena’s thigh.
“I’m worried about you.” A statement of fact, not a single press or push in sight.
Lena sighs. “I know,” she says. “I’m sorry.”
The hand on Lena’s thigh firms into a reassuring squeeze. “Can I help?”
“Against an impending existential crisis?” Lena snorts. “No, I don’t think so.”
Kara doesn’t surrender so easily. “Try me.”
Closing her eyes, Lena releases a long breath. “My entire life, I’ve lived with a simple, unequivocal truth: my mother didn’t love me.”
No response comes, inviting her to continue.
“It hurt, at first. But eventually, it became as innocuous as the sky being blue, or the grass green. It just was.” Lena pauses, taking another breath. “And then.”
Kara’s hand shifts to interlace her fingers with Lena’s. “Then she chose you.”
Watching Lex raise his gauntlet to fire at her hadn’t shocked Lena. Seeing her mother throw herself between them did. Even now, years later, the memory still locks her throat tight. Lillian had saved her life. When faced with the choice of her precious boy and the girl she’d always only tolerated, she’d chosen Lena.
And then, Lena had saved Lillian in return, her newfound magic pouring from her to heal her mother’s mortal wounds. Beyond all odds, they both survived Lex—together.
The experience seemed to have caused a foundational shift within Lillian. She’d kept her distance for the first few months, before confessing a desire to mend, to rebuild. She’d respected Lena’s distrust, but she’d remained gently persistent. Invitations for lunches, appearances at Lena’s fundraising events, even the occasional gift accompanied by a short but thoughtful note.
Slowly but surely, she’d worn away at Lena’s reservations, plying her with every kind of interest and affection Lena had ever wanted. The journey hadn’t been without its hiccups—more than once Lena had snapped, trashing the thoughtful gifts, ignoring the texts and calls, even screaming her resurfaced hurt and rage in Lillian’s face. Until, eventually, things between them had smoothed into something resembling… Lena doesn’t know.
“This is the first time it feels like Mother’s Day should mean something.”
“Should?”
Lena sighs. Sometimes, Kara knows her too well. “Does,” Lena confesses. “It does mean something. Or at least, I want it to. Maybe. I don’t know.”
Kara smiles. Fishing into her pocket, she pulls out Lena’s phone and hands it over. “Why not start small?”
With a guilty huff of breath, Lena accepts the phone and thanks her fiancé with a kiss. “Thank you.”
Kara grins against her lips. “Always,” she breathes, then kisses her again. “I’ll be inside.”
Lena scrolls through her contacts and taps her mother’s number as Kara climbs to her feet. Heading into the house, Kara hasn’t quite opened the screen door when Lillian answers.
“Lena?”
Lena can feel Kara’s smile as the screen door finally opens and quietly swings shut.
“Hi, mom.”

When the Quiet Breaks - ellie williams x reader
Tumblr media
pairing: ellie williams x fem!reader
requests are open, send me songs or your silly ideas:)
HUGE WARNIGS: Graphic emotional distress, PTSD symptoms, hallucinations, disturbing imagery, grief, memory loss/confusion, trauma-related violence.
Summary: Ellie Williams is living a peaceful life on the farmhouse with you—the woman who convinced her not to chase revenge. For a while, things feel almost perfect. But the past never stays buried.
masterlist
This story contains dark and emotionally intense themes—please read with care.
The quiet of the farmhouse wrapped around you and Ellie like a warm blanket. Days passed slowly, wrapped in soft sunlight and the creak of old wooden floors. You’d wake up to the sound of the chickens outside or the wind humming through the trees. JJ’s toys were still in a chest near the fireplace—leftover memories from when the place belonged to someone else—but now, it was just the two of you.
Ellie had changed. The hard, vengeful edge she’d carried back from Seattle was softened—still there in her eyes sometimes, but she laughed more now. She played guitar on the porch. She rested her head on your lap while you read aloud. She touched you like she never thought she’d be allowed to again—tenderly, like you might disappear if she blinked.
“I’m glad I stayed,” she said once, lying next to you in bed. “You’re the only reason I still know how to breathe.”
You smiled and kissed her jaw. “Then breathe with me.” And she did.
But nights were harder.
She would jerk awake, drenched in sweat, whispering things she couldn’t say aloud. You’d hold her. Sometimes she’d cry. Other nights, she wouldn’t sleep at all—just sat at the window, cigarette trembling in her hand, staring at nothing.
You didn’t push. You just loved her harder. Calmer mornings, softer kisses. You’d hum to her while she braided your hair or stood behind her while she strummed, your hand on her back. You reminded her that she was here—that she was safe.
But Ellie was never really safe. Not from what was already inside her.
It started slowly—the confusion.
She’d zone out mid-conversation. You’d find her staring at the barn wall for minutes on end. One night, you came into the living room and found her kneeling in front of the fireplace, mumbling Joel’s name over and over.
You called her name. She didn’t hear you.
“Ellie,” you whispered, kneeling beside her. “Baby, I’m here.”
She flinched. “Don’t touch me.”
You pulled your hand back. “It’s me. It’s okay.”
She blinked. Then recognition bloomed across her face—and shame.
“I thought you were her,” she whispered. “I thought you were Abby.”
You swallowed hard and reached for her again. “You know I’m not. I’m here. I love you.”
“I know,” she rasped. “But she’s always in my head. Every time I close my eyes… Joel’s there. And she’s there. And I can't—I can’t tell what’s real anymore.”
You held her through the night. That was the first time you were scared.
The day it happened, the air was thick and still.
Ellie had barely slept. She’d been pacing the house, eyes sunken and wild. You made her tea, cooked her breakfast, tried to hold her hand. She pulled away. Her eyes kept darting to your face, then away. Like she didn’t trust what she saw.
You were standing in the hallway when it happened.
She stepped toward you, slow, trembling. “Abby…”
Your smile faltered. “Ellie, no—it’s me. Look at me.”
But she didn’t hear you.
Her pupils shrank. Her hand reached for the hunting knife on her belt.
“Ellie, please,” you begged. “It’s me. Baby, it’s me.”
You took a step forward—and she lunged.
You didn’t scream. You didn’t have time.
You tried to grab her wrist, tried to pull her back to you, but she was crying and snarling and whispering Joel’s name in broken pieces.
The pain was sudden. Hot. Blinding.
She drove the knife into your abdomen, then again—once in the side of your chest.
You collapsed, gasping, your fingers trembling against her forearm.
And then… it stopped.
She stood over you, breathing heavy. Her knife clattered to the ground.
You reached for her. She backed away. Your lips moved—one last attempt to say her name. To pull her out. But everything went still.
Ellie walked into the kitchen. Her mouth was dry, her chest heaving. She poured a glass of water and stared out the window. The sun was starting to set. The cows needed feeding. You were always reminding her.
“Babe?” she called, voice hoarse. “Hey… where’d you go?”
She checked the porch. The barn. The bedroom. The bathroom.
“Y/N?” Her voice cracked. “Where are you?”
She went outside, looked toward the trees, called again. Nothing.
Frustration twisted into worry. She began searching harder—every room, under every blanket, behind every door. Her breath quickened.
And then, slowly, she turned the corner of the hallway.
There you were.
The floor was stained. Your body lay still. The blood had stopped pooling. Her knife was inches away, still slick.
“No,” she breathed.
Her knees hit the floor. Her hands shook as she reached out—but stopped inches from your face.
“No. No. No, no—what did I… what did I—”
Her breath came out in gasps. Then sobs. Then wails.
She rocked back on her heels, knuckles pressed into her temples. Her guitar sat quietly in the corner of the living room, untouched. A song she wrote for you once still hung in the air, a ghost without a voice.
Ellie stayed there until nightfall. Curled beside you, whispering apologies that would never reach your ears.
And the house—once filled with light—fell into a silence that would never lift.
The night dragged on in pieces.
At some point, Ellie couldn’t feel her body anymore. Her knees were numb. Her hands were stained. She’d sat there for so long, staring at you, whispering things into the silence that didn’t make sense. Begging. Pleading. Bargaining with no one.
“I didn’t mean to,” she mumbled, over and over. “It wasn’t you… it wasn’t you…”
She crawled across the floor, trembling, curling her fingers into your shirt, trying to pull you close—but your body was already cold. Stiff. Heavy in a way that made her sob until her throat gave out.
“No… no, baby, come back. You’re not gone. You can’t be gone. I’ll fix it—I’ll fix it, I promise, just—please—”
She kissed your forehead like it would wake you up. She wiped at your blood like it could undo the stain. She whispered your name like it was a spell. But nothing happened.
Ellie didn’t sleep. She didn’t move.
When the morning light crept in through the windows, it touched her face—pale, swollen, dried tear tracks on her cheeks. Her lips were cracked. Her eyes were bloodshot. She hadn’t drunk the water she’d poured. The glass was still sitting on the counter, untouched. Forgotten.
She stood eventually. Only because her legs forced her to. The floor swayed under her.
She stumbled toward the mirror in the bathroom.
Her reflection stared back—wild-eyed, sunken, stained with grief. Her shirt was soaked in red. Her hands trembled as she looked at herself like she didn’t recognize the person there.
“Who are you,” she whispered. “What the fuck did you do?”
She punched the mirror. It cracked down the center.
Her knuckles split open. She didn’t flinch.
Later that day, she buried you under the tree behind the barn.
You loved that tree. You used to read beneath it, braid wildflowers into Ellie’s hair, kiss her with the sun pouring through the branches.
Now it was a grave.
She dug the hole with her bare hands, the shovel discarded after the first few strikes. She needed to feel the dirt. Needed the punishment. Her skin tore. Her nails broke. Her arms ached. She didn't stop.
When she placed you in the ground, she wrapped you in the blanket you both used to curl up in together during winter. She kissed your forehead one more time.
And then she screamed.
A sound so broken, so animal, it startled the birds from the trees.
It didn’t bring you back.
Inside the house, everything remained untouched.
Your favorite mug on the table. Your guitar pick beside hers. Your pillow still held the shape of your head.
Ellie crawled into bed that night with the same blood-stained clothes. She curled around your absence like it was still warm. She couldn’t tell where her hallucinations ended and reality began anymore.
Sometimes, she heard your voice. Sometimes, she saw your silhouette in the hallway. Sometimes, she dreamed you were still alive—and that she was dead instead.
But every time she woke up, the farmhouse was silent.
And the silence… was louder than any scream.

˖˙ ᰋ ── i didn't hear what you said, i just want to kiss you
Tumblr media
﹙ʚɞ˚﹚. genre: fluff
﹙ʚɞ˚﹚. a/n: this is for all of my perfectionist students lmao. kind of self indulgent and super inspired by hyunjin's latest live. enjoy!! <3<3<3
Tumblr media
For years now, your boyfriend has been your favorite study partner. Always patient, kind, and considerate of your needs, helping you tackle every difficult subject with a smile on his face. Bringing you snacks, urging you to take breaks whenever he sensed you needed it but most importantly, never pressuring you in any way. Despite your stellar marks, he always says:
“Don’t stress too much about it. Grades aren’t everything.”
And you believe him, you really do, yet the overachiever part of your soul is always louder, and never lets you rest, yelling in your ear until you comply and spend your whole day cooped up inside, studying.
You need to get the highest grade possible, otherwise you’ll shrivel up and die.
Hyunjin keeps you grounded, that’s why there’s no better person alive than your boyfriend. An angel in disguise who has somehow fallen from grace, lost his wings, and is now trapped on earth, forced to mingle with mere mortals like you.
And mingle he does. But unfortunately for him that’s not enough – he also has to teach you statistics.
“See? The difference between descriptive statistics and inferential statistics is quite simple. It’s easier to tell them apart now, right?”
“I guess…” You yawn, setting your glittery pen aside before stretching your arms above your head. “I need a break.”
Hyunjin cocks a brow, amused. “We just started.”
“Half an hour ago!” You point towards the clock on the far wall, hidden behind endless amounts of bookshelves.
“Exactly, we barely managed to scratch the surface.” He pouts, running a hand over his buzzed head in slight exasperation.
You have to resist the urge of squishing his cheeks together, not wanting to make a scene in public. Cuteness aggression was a real thing you fought with every day. “I’m not going to lie, my love. I stopped listening to whatever you were explaining 15 minutes ago.”
“What?”
You nod. “I didn’t hear anything you said.” Then, you scoot closer, gluing yourself to his side as your voice drops several octaves. “I just want to kiss you.”
Hyunjin’s eyes widen slightly at your confession, swiftly looking around to ensure the nearby tables are still vacant. Then, he tongues his cheek in the most attractive way you’ve witnessed, a smirk hanging off the corners of his mouth as he shakes his head.
“After you finish this chapter.” He eventually breathes out, allowing one of his hands to rest on your upper thigh and squeeze in encouragement.
Your head falls back with a groan, frustrated. “Come on, Hyun!” the way you drag out his name has him chuckling lowly, eyes sparkling. “Haven’t I suffered enough?”
“Suffer?” He laughs, poking your forehead. “You’ll only suffer if you fail this test.”
“I won’t fail.” You huff, jerking back. His hand then slips off your thigh and the lack of warmth has you scrawling right back, wounding your arms around his neck to bring him even closer, hoping he’ll cave.
Hyunjin’s eyes fall to your lips, and you know it’s a matter of time before the spell you got him under works its magic. “Of course, you won’t. I won’t allow it.”
Your bright smile snaps his attention back to your eyes, which he seems to get lost exploring, absorbed by the beautiful color. Without missing a beat, you lean forward to connect your lips, eager to taste the cherry chapstick you applied on him when he complained about his lips being dry.
You guess even angels can get dehydrated.
Making out at the library on a Thursday night was never on your bingo card, but with Hyunjin as your partner in crime, you wouldn’t mind doing anything. He makes you feel safe in any situation, but especially when you have to get out of your comfort zone, tackle life head-on when putting things on hold is no longer an option.
You manage to peck his lips, once, twice, and then three times before he brings you closer, big hands sliding down from your waist to your hips and squeezing, needing to feel your flesh between his fingers.
His tongue brushes against your lower lip, and as your mouth opens to allow him access to every part of you, a low moan escapes you both simultaneously. Alcohol was overrated – you’ve only ever gotten drunk on each other.
“We don’t even share a major.” He gasps as he pulls away, and your lips find his jaw.
“I know.” Another kiss graces the beautiful mole under his eye.
With the way you’re kissing him, your lips trailing down his throat, Hyunjin has trouble speaking. “I-I’ve never taken this class before.”
“I know.” You nod, pecking the base of his neck.
A shiver runs down his spine, and his hold on you tightens, almost like he’s ready to lift and place you on his lap, deeming you too far away. “So why do I keep helping you like I’m some dean’s list student?”
“Because you love me.” You finally stop to look into his eyes, heart fluttering at the way his chest is already weaving up and down after a few minutes of innocent kisses. Your touch has always had that effect on him, so you were never confused about his feelings towards you. Hyunjin wore his heart on his sleeve, body reacting faster than his brain could process, never failing to show you how near and dear you are to him. How much he adored every one of your endearing quirks, loving you unconditionally like it was a duty he never wanted to be free of. “As much as I love you.”
With a cocky smirk he barely manages to muster, he replies while tucking some hair behind your ear. “I think I love you a little more than you love me, actually.”
“That’s impossible, Hyun.”
And you were certain of it. Nothing could be bigger than the love you held for this angel.

[ I made this like 4 pages. I apologize lmao. Read at your own discretion. Violence involved but nothing like really vulgar. This is NOT proofread. ]
You wanted your skin to peel off your bones. That’s how uncomfortable you felt. It wasn’t your typical Saturday night, this was way past your comfort zone.
“I’m gonna say hi to a couple people and we’ll leave soon, alright? Can you just stick with these girls for a couple minutes?” Matt asks.
He didn’t even wanna be here. But for some reason, it was practically a requirement. Not really, but he was tired of people on social media accusing you for his lack of presence in parties and events. They twisted that picture to make it seem like you were the villain. Matt knew it stressed you out. It seemed like a good compromise.
“Yeah, just…be quick. Please,” you mutter.
Matts nods, pressing a swift kiss to your temple before walking off. He doesn’t wanna be here anymore than you. You can tell by the way he pulls Chris and Nick subtly that he’s trying to make this as quick as possible.
A couple minutes pass and you can’t help but feel a bit uneasy. These girls have been chill, but a little too chill. Honestly—you’re not sure if even one of them will remember a single sentence when they wake up tomorrow.
Your nerves peak when you feel a slight brush on your arm as someone stands next to you. It’s a man—the same guy who had been handing out little bags of gummies and powder all night.
“Hey, noticed you’re lookin’ a little to…” he looks up and down, making you tense and cross your arms tighter against your chest. “---yeah, too uptight. Here,” he nudges your arms with a closed fist, but you simply shake your head from side to side.
“Not interested but thanks.”
The slight rim of red clouding his eyes becomes more visible as he stares down at you. Anxiety seems to still as you revel in this feeling—pure adrenalin. Almost as if your body knows something is wrong.
“Oh, come on. Won’t hurt ya, just try some.” He’s unrelenting. You simply mutter no under your breath as your eyes scan around you.
It’s only these girls and you. The girls who can’t even keep their eyes staring in one direction for more than a second. Everyone had piled inside, wanting to be as close to the screaming bass of music as possible.
You’re fucked.
“Look, I…I’m not interested, okay? I,”
Panic shrivels through your veins as you watch him open his hand, revealing a pill. It’s not one you’ve ever seen before. But, you don’t have much time to process anything before he starts lifting it towards your mouth, his other hand scooping underneath your jaw.
“Live a little, damn—so fuckin’ bitchy. This will help you, trust—”
The man lets out a hiss as you swat his hands away. “I don’t want your stupid pills. Just—just leave me alone, okay?” you announce.
Substances seem to have consumed everyone within your radius. Those girls are just…gone. You feel bad leaving them, but the second you see him start to lean down to pick up the pill, you quickly walk inside the booming house.
The silence from your adrenalin is gone. Sweaty bodies rub up against you as you try to swerve through and find the familiar head of brown hair.
You try to stand on your tippy toes to get a better look. But, that’s a mistake. You feel an arm crawl around your hips from behind, pulling you into a hard chest.
“Dude! Let—go!” you huff, attempting to rattle the man's hold on you.
Eventually, his grip loosens, but only to shift and grab your wrist instead. “What the fuck is your problem?” he spit, his words slurring.
Frustration builds in your chest, panic makes your limbs feel like feathers as bodies push and pull around you. It’s an overwhelming wave of madness.
“Just—fucking hell, can you just stop?” you screech, trying to individually peel his fingers from around your wrist.
You can’t tell if it hurts. There’s so many noises, so many sensations. You can’t even hear your own thoughts except for the racing mantra screaming danger.
It’s just then you see the small glimmer of familiar rings only a couple people away from you. Matt. You try to yell out his name, but it just isn’t enough. He can’t hear you. If only he’d turn around.
“Tell me. What’s your issue, huh? You’re at a party. What the fuck do you expect to—” The guy is still spitting in your face. Adrenal and fury shift to instinct. You want to get away, you want his hands off.
Biting on the side of your cheek, you let your leg swing up to kick him right in the groin. His grip immediately falters. You squish through people as fast as possible, hearing a slur of insults from behind you.
If this doesn’t work, you’re truly fucked.
Your fingers clasp onto Matt’s shoulder desperately. Almost instantly recognizing your touch, Matt turns his head to see you, swiftly pulling you to him by shoving another person out of the way.
“Hey, I thought you were gonna wait with those girls—what’re you—”
Matt is confused to say the least. You’re never one for PDA, but right now—you don’t care about anything besides avoiding the man trying to catch you and screaming sentences of ‘where’s that bitch,’ over and over again.
“Just hide me.”
Squinting his eyes, Matt obeys. You stand in front of him. You’re shielded from the angry eyes as you hear the man stomp past the small group.
A breath of relief finally escapes your lips as you let yourself relax the smallest bit onto Matt.
“What….what happened, doll?” he asks into your ear.
You don’t even know where to start.
A shake of your head lets Matt know to ask later, but as of right now—he knows. It’s time to leave. He doesn’t have to know it all, he just wants to protect you.
__________
The car ride home was deadly silent. Chris and Nick were confused at the anxious energy radiating in the car, but no explanations were left for them. Matt had immediately pulled you into his room, closing the door for privacy before giving you that look.
“Sweetheart, should I—should I be worried? What even happened?”
Rushed words are still numb. Honestly, even a couple of laughs peel from your lips as you explain everything. It doesn’t feel like it actually happened. But it did.
“I…are you okay? I’m so sorry I left, I thought it would be safer out there with those girls than inside in that fuckin’ chaos. You….” he trails off, unsure.
You’re quick to confirm you’re okay. It could’ve ended so much worse.
Matt isn’t entirely convinced. It’s a little later when you're both showering together when he sees the red mark around your wrist, along with a couple scratches from your own nails when you were trying to peel that man's hand off.
He lets out a heavy breath while lightly massaging suds onto the area and rinsing it off carefully. Matt looks up at you with sympathetic eyes, letting them close as he presses his lips right above the wounded skin.
“I’m sorry, doll.”
It makes it feel a little heavier seeing the mark and seeing just how saddened his own eyes look. But, it’s okay. You’re here, you’re safe.
“We’re never going to a party again.”  The way he emphasizes his words makes your heart flutter. Relief floods your system as you look forward to a normal night tomorrow—a cozy, sunday night. Just how you both like it.

You wanted to go home, wash your makeup off, and throw yourself on your sheets. Yet here you sat, in the middle of a frat party. You hated events like these, especially sober. The booming bass in your ears, the humid, almost sticky air on your skin. The way-too-bright lights and, worse, the students falling over each other. Why do you let your friends drag you along? No clue. But as part of the cheer team, skipping meant endless nagging in the group chat, and you weren’t in the mood for that. You never were.
After settling into the living room, you figured a joint would help you zone out until, Dina, and the rest of your ride were ready to leave. At some point in the night, you found yourself face to face with a semi-familiar presence: campuses one and only Abby Anderson.
She’d been throwing looks your way all night. You knew her type. Kissing and quitting. And you weren’t interested. But Abby found her way onto the couch next to you, striking up conversation like it was effortless. Of course it was calculated, but you indulged her, partly anyway.
At least you didn’t want to be anyway.
𖤐.Unbeknownst to you, though, you were judging this 6’0-something book by her cover. If you’d really been paying attention, which is impossible to do considering how well she covered it up. But The gym, practice, study, sleep cycle kept her sane, gave her something to focus on. And it worked, until you. Until freshman move-in day, when she saw you for the first time and brushed it off as just another pretty girl on campus. But then she found herself lingering on your social media, scrolling a little too long, just…staring at certain pictures. And when she saw some of her teammates following you, her upper lip twitched in irritation.
𖤐.She avoided you after that. Acted like you didn’t exist, because it was easier than dealing with the way you made her heart hammer against her ribs. The way she wanted you. The way you got under her skin without even trying. But when she saw you tonight, she told herself fuck it. If you weren’t going to make a move, she would.
A few jokes exchanged, a couple of lingering glances, and then, somehow her fingers found their way under your chin, tilting your face toward hers. Your breath caught. Her grip was firm but gentle enough for you to wiggle away from, almost like she was seeing what you’d do.
She was close. Inches away. Heat radiating off her body. So close that you could see the defined collarbones peeking through the neckline of her jersey. Her gaze dragged over your features like she was committing them to memory, and when her blue eyes finally locked onto yours. You weren’t one to look away from eye contact easily, but this was like she was trying to find something.
The music pulsed around you, shifting into something by The Weeknd. Which was definitely not helping. The slower beat only made time stand still. You didn’t move. Why would you? She came over here, convinced you’d fold like every other girl who fell at her size 10 cleats.
But you weren’t going to. You couldn’t.
You were almost certain, though, that if she closed the gap, you’d 100% kiss her back. And that? That would be a problem. If she closed the distance you’d definitely tug her closer until the only thing you could smell was her. So instead, you rolled your eyes and leaned back, your hair spraying on the sofa. breaking the moment.
“You are such a pain in the ass,” Abby chuckled, her ego slightly bruised as her hand dropped from your chin. A dramatic lip smack followed.
“Because I don’t want to fuck you?” you said, taking a slow drag from your joint. “Or because I’m not entertaining you?”
“Shit, both.” She shrugged. She slapped herself mentally for not saying a different answer. She knew she was coming on way too strong but she knew nothing about you, and now was worried she wasn’t even your type to begin with. So now she had to double down.
“Especially the first one, though,” she added, dragging her eyes down your outfit before flicking back up to your face.
“Gross,” you scoffed, even though you definitely had the idea cross your mind once while she was sitting so close.
“Oh, you have no idea,” Abby huffed, tossing her head back against the couch. She let a beat of silence pass before turning to you again. “What’s your deal, anyway? You a prude? Or just straight?”
“What if I’m just not interested?” you shot back.
Her lips twitched, head tilting slightly as she studied you “You aren’t?” Something about the way she asked made your heart thud. Like you’d just challenged her. Or maybe, maybe you’d actually caught her off guard. Regardless You didn’t answer fast enough. Her grin widened, teeth showing, like she was reading your mind. Shit. Are you? No. No, of course you weren’t. But yeah, you’d let the silence stretch too long.
Abby hummed, turning her head back to the front. “Sure you aren’t,” she mused. Praying you’d correct her. Feeling her heart sink a little when it didn’t come. You were still trying to find a reply when Abby interrupted, almost like she couldn’t bear the silence.
“So,” she said, her voice still infuriatingly calm, “What’s your major? Or are you just here to shake your little pom-poms?” Abby hated to admit it, but she was actually trying to make conversation with you now. Her first approach clearly wasn't the way to go. Sure, she could just be nice and drop the act, but that would be lame. This is more fun.
You furrowed your brows at her comment before realizing you were still in uniform. A laugh ripped out of you as you replied with your major. “And I won’t be shaking anything, thank you.” You added, taking another slow drag.
That actually got her attention. She tilted her head back to give you a once-over, arching an eyebrow. She repeated your major like she was testing the word on her tongue. “That’s…” A pause. She studied your face, trying to see if you were kidding before she shrugged. “Nerdy.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, would you rather me throw a ball around all day?” you huffed, rolling your eyes at her.
“Aww, you jealous, sweetheart?” Abby smirked, her tone dripping with mockery as she shifted closer on the couch. She was almost fully facing you now, her body angling toward yours.
You shook your head in amusement. “Fuck no, I’m not,” you mocked back, sing-songing the words. “Cute thought, though.”
It was Abby’s turn to roll her eyes, but the smirk on her face never fell. “You’re a real smartass, you know that?” She leaned back against the couch, draping an arm across the back, her fingertips inches from your shoulder.
“And you can’t take a hint,” you shot back, scanning her outfit as you took another drag.
“And you’re full of yourself,” she retorted, her eyes flicking toward your hand as you passed her the joint. Her fingers brushed yours as she took it, sending an involuntary shiver up your spine.
She hummed in acknowledgment, bringing the joint to her lips. A moment later, smoke curled from her mouth and nose. Her knee remained pressed against your thigh, solid and warm. “But if you’re gonna check me out, at least be subtle about it,” she teased, voice slightly gravelly from the smoke. She handed the joint back, her eyes glimmering with mischief.
You scoffed. “You wanted me to see you so bad, so I’m doing that. You complaining now?”
Abby exhaled sharply, a quiet laugh. “Holy hell, you’re annoying.” But her gaze lingered, on your face, on your lips, you.
“Yeah?” A slow smile spread across your face. “Good. Maybe you’ll run a play and leave.” You jabbed, gesturing to another couch.
She glanced over then back to you. “You wish.” Abby flashed another grin.
You let out a short laugh. “I’m not taking the bait.”She smirked, her confidence unshaken. You looked away and continued “You are tempting, though. I won’t lie.”
Abby’s smirk widened, like she’d been waiting for that. She moved her arm from the back of the couch, fingertips lightly grazing your shoulder, then trailing down your bare arm. Her touch left a warm path in its wake. “Just tempting?” she asked, her stomach twisting. Her eyes flicked down to your lips, the tip of her tongue wetting her own.
You glanced at her hand on your arm and sighed dramatically. “Just. Tempting,” you confirmed, shifting your gaze back to her face. Her hair draped across the couch, the school’s blue jersey stretching over her broad shoulders. “You’ll survive, though.”
Abby hummed, tilting her head to look up at you fully. Her hair fell messily across her forehead, and her eyes danced with a mix of amusement and something else..maybe a hint of genuine interest?
“Just survive?” she echoed, fingers continuing their light, teasing trail down your arm. She moved closer, the gap between you nearly nonexistent. “What if I want more than surviving?”
You didn’t move. Didn’t let her see you sweat. “Not about you,” you mused, setting the joint in the ashtray. “This is my show, girly.”
Abby chuckled, the sound sending another shiver through you. Her fingers skimmed higher, tracing the side of your neck.
“Oh yeah? You’re in charge?” she murmured. Her other hand came to rest on your hip. gentle, but almost possessive. Her thumb brushed slow circles over the bone there.
You rolled your eyes but didn’t pull away. Instead, you raised a hand, catching her chin between your fingers and pulling her just a fraction closer. “I am. And I said this ain’t happening. So knock it off, Anderson.”
Abby’s smirk faltered for just a second, her breath hitching—but she didn’t pull back. If anything, she leaned in, just slightly, her gaze steady on yours.
“Ooo, bossy,” she muttered, voice quieter now. There was a certain edge to it, though, like she didn’t actually mind. Her grip on your hip tightened, her thumb still tracing slow, lazy circles. Her eyes flickered between your lips and your eyes. “I’m starting to like it” she added.
And you hated the way your stomach flipped when she scooted even closer…

Ateez- Catching their S/O looking at them with heart eyes
Hongjoong
He’s going over music notes at the studio, completely in the zone, when he feels your eyes on him. He doesn’t even look up at first — just smiles knowingly.
Then, without turning around:
“You’ve been staring at me for the last five minutes.”
You blink. “No, I wasn’t.”
He spins in his chair, eyes narrowed in playful challenge.
“Caught you.”
He leans forward, elbows on his knees.
“Is it the brain? The talent? The jawline?”
You: flustered.
Him: smug.
He walks over, presses a kiss to your cheek.
“Next time you stare, just come kiss me instead.”
Tumblr media
Seonghwa
He’s folding laundry, hair tucked behind his ears, humming softly. He looks so domestic, so calm. And you just… melt.
He catches your gaze and blinks.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
You shrug, smiling softly.
“I just love you.”
He actually pauses mid-fold, placing the shirt down before walking over.
“No, no, come here. That look deserves a hug.”
He pulls you in, arms tight around your waist, heart visibly fluttering.
“You always look at me like that, and every time, I fall in love again.”
Tumblr media
Yunho
Yunho’s dancing in the living room, goofily at first, but then really gets into it.
You’re curled up on the couch, watching him like he’s your favorite movie.
He catches you mid-spin, eyes locking with yours, and immediately starts laughing.
“You were watching me like I’m the hottest man alive!”
You grin, “You are.”
He stops.
“Wait, for real?”
He walks over dramatically, picks you up princess-style, and spins you around.
“I should dance for you more often if that’s the look I get!”
Tumblr media
Yeosang
He’s brushing his hair, posture elegant, completely unaware of the way you’re drinking him in.
When he finally meets your gaze in the mirror, he tilts his head.
“…What?”
“You’re beautiful.”
He flushes — ever so subtly.
“Don’t say stuff like that.”
But you can tell he secretly lives for it.
He comes to sit beside you, nudging your shoulder.
“Only you get to look at me like that, okay?”
And when you nod, he just smiles, ears pink, leaning his head on yours.
Tumblr media
San
He’s making coffee, shirt riding up slightly, humming along to a song.
You’re just leaning on the counter, chin in your hand, staring with full-on heart eyes.
He turns around, catches you, and stops mid-motion.
“…Are you okay?”
“I’m in love.”
He grins immediately.
“Oh? With me?”
You nod.
He walks over slowly, cups your cheeks.
“You’re dangerous, babe.”
Kisses your forehead.
“Looking at me like that? You want me to forget how to breathe?”
Tumblr media
Mingi
He’s rambling excitedly about a game or a show, gestures wild.
You’re not even following anymore — just watching his animated face, the way his eyes light up.
He notices and stops.
“…Wait, are you listening?”
You nod slowly. “No idea what you said. You’re just really pretty.”
He goes bright red.
“Yah! Don’t say that out of nowhere!”
He flops dramatically onto the couch.
“Now I’m flustered. Look what you did.”
But he grabs your hand anyway, pulling it to his chest.
“I love that look, though. Don’t stop.”
Tumblr media
Wooyoung
He’s stretching after a long rehearsal, breathing heavy, skin glowing with sweat.
You walk in with a drink in hand… and freeze.
He catches your look instantly.
“Ohhh. Someone’s staring.”
You try to deny it, but it’s too late — he struts over.
“Be honest. You were thinking something spicy.”
You: “No!”
Him: “Yes.”
He traps you against the wall with a smirk, arms on either side of you.
“I’m flattered. Don’t worry. You’re the only one allowed to look at me like that.”
Tumblr media
Jongho
He’s quietly organizing something, sleeves rolled up, soft expression on his face.
You’re watching him like he’s made of sunlight.
He glances up and freezes.
“…Why’re you staring at me like that?”
You shrug, smiling shyly.
“You’re just… so good.”
His face softens instantly.
He walks over, holds your face gently in his hands.
“You always look at me like I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to you.”
And then, whispered:
“I hope you know you are, to me.”

(Lilia Calderu x Fem!Reader) (NSFW; Thigh-riding; Titles) (~4.7k words)
☁︎⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☁︎⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☁︎⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆
“I think this is my favouritest place in the entire universe,” you admitted softly, your words slurred and muffled against the sweet-smelling skin of your lover’s neck.
“I thought your favourite place was your bed,” she huffed, lips twisted into a smirk.
“It is. But this is my most favouritest.” You moved your head, pushed your nose further beneath the curve of her jaw, and nuzzled closer into the corner of her shoulder and neck with a dizzy blissful smile.
The urge to sigh took over quickly and as you breathed deep, utterly content with your soft witchy pillow, the mixed smells of wildflowers, bourbon, jasmine, and gardenia filled your lungs. It was the most comforting combination, full of happy memories, a reminder of home, a staple of your Lilia, and when you breathed out, you caught the notes of the lemon shampoo clinging to her damp curls. Which, as beautiful as they were, were still incredibly unruly and slow to dry after a relaxing shower. They tickled your nose and chin, drawing damp streaks of water, and you reached up to tuck them away behind Lilia’s neck.
“Quit it,” she nudged you gently, shifting you on her hip.
“I’m not doing anything, your hair is getting in my way.”
“Oh now she blames the hair,” your lover drawled, “What next? Is my lap not comfortable enough for you?”
“It is. And it would be even more comfortable if you weren’t reading that stupid book.”
She knew you weren’t being serious–you loved when Lilia got a moment to calm down and read peacefully–but she’d had her nose buried between the pages of the damn thing since the moment you settled. It was about flowers and sigils and ancient forms of casting and other things you didn’t care to remember because you were snuggled up on the right side of Lilia Calderu’s body and you would not move even if the Divine Mother herself had begged you to do so. She was simply too comfortable, simply too soft, simply too perfect. Braless, relaxed, matching your rare choice of pyjamas for the evening: Underwear and a T-shirt, the latter having been stolen from Lilia’s closet even though you had your own. It was flimsy, old, thin, and also the best thing you had ever worn as you’d straddled her thigh, wrapped your arms around her waist, and happily realised that you could still feel each warm part of her body through the two layers of cloth.
That alone was a feat you had to accomplish together once upon a time—getting out of your comfort zones. It took a while before you were secure enough to open yourselves up intimately, to even think of getting undressed in the same room, to even kiss without skirting around each other first. You had your fair share of insecurities, but Lilia was a different story. She’d lived a life unlike any other, being a fugitive witch, skilled in divination, who travelled the waves of time as a skipping rock rather than a sailboat. Her upbringing wasn’t very liberal, much less accepting of homosexuals, and though she managed to get through life regardless, her preoccupied on-the-run mind steered her away from debauchery. All in all, that meant sex and intimacy simply was not as important to Ms. Lilia Calderu as it was to most of the population. She still felt the urge of course, she was a woman with such needs, but there was no time to desire a physical outlet - no time and no energy and no candidates. There was one girl in her youth, part of her original coven, and maybe a few flings in her mid-200’s, even something a little more long lasting toward the end of her 300’s, but the itch was never so persistent. It didn’t wait in the back of her head or lurk around right before going to bed, and it never came up in her thoughts when out in public. She was an adult woman with too many things to think about, focus on, and consider. She didn’t have time for desire. She didn’t have time to want.
And then you walked into her little shop on a rainy humid Wednesday afternoon, fuzzy-haired and wild-eyed, and the sight of you sent her careening into the future. She returned quickly, with an awed look, serious eyes, and the soft murmur of “The Wheel of Fortune”, and only after some time passed did you both realise that yes, change for the better was indeed in the cards.
And Lilia found herself wanting that day.
Then most of the days after it.
For about three years, that was her normal. The sudden uproar of desire, not incredibly strong (for her subconscious would not let it get that far) but definitely noticeable. She found herself thinking about you often, about your skin, your hair, your hands, your fingertips, your legs, your smile. She found herself wanting to touch. To reach. To caress and to kiss and to bite. Once the two of you recognised your attraction, you quickly agreed that anything sexual or intimate would be postponed. It simply had to come at a time in which you were both ready, open, and uninhibited. And if it took a while, then it took a while.
It took only two years, after which you finally gave yourself to Lilia and she gave herself to you. It was all very romantic; a dark evening, slow and desperate, wet and hot, quiet and needy. Completely unforgettable. It opened a gateway of sorts, a chance for you both to expand and explore, and after a lifetime of not being able to embrace sexual liberation, Lilia was finally given the opportunity. You encouraged her as best you could without overstepping boundaries, always willing to try what she wanted to try (even though she often found herself on the receiving end of your innovative thoughts instead of the other way around but nevertheless), always eager to do the necessary research if that’s what your time together required, never a complaint on your tongue whenever she admitted she wasn’t in the mood. No corners were ever cut when it came to the desire you had for your lover.
Except when it came to book corners. Those were cut instantly.
“What would you rather have me do, hm? Movie marathon? Bake a cake? Swim my way to Egypt? This is how I relax, now deal with it or get off,” Lilia snarked, moving her hand from the cover of her book down to your thigh to give you a small pinch. She was too quick for you to jump away.
“Owch! Mean!” You flinched from the sting, dislodging yourself from your comfy drape over her shoulder to fix her with a playful glare.
Lilia didn’t hesitate to meet you head on, taking her eyes away from her book to look up at you through dark lashes, right over the rims of her glasses. Glasses that she only wore when alone, when with you, with a little chain that held them in the place, with a shape that complimented her face so perfectly. They made her seem so… sophisticated. So… strict. A red candy-apple coloured body, slight cat eye details around the rims, and curved well enough to always be perched at a very specific angle on her nose at all times. You hated them. You really hated them. You wanted them gone. You wanted them away. You wanted them to stop being so tempting. She was already attractive enough - she didn’t need the fucking things setting your pants on fire every two seconds. And whether she knew about their effect or not, you weren’t sure, but it didn’t matter either way - her attention was excruciating, and to it you would never be immune.
“Get rid of this book right now,” you started strong, straightening up in her lap with a haughty cross of your arms.
“I’m busy with it,” she tightened her hold on her prized possession as if you were about to lunge forward and take it from her.
“Yeah? Well I’m busy with you, so lose the book Calderu.”
Her perfect lips pursed, displaying playful disdain, and you couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow - just to be bratty. You watched as she considered her options, as she glanced down at her book, then back at you, then back at her book. And when she looked up for the last time, you changed your tactics and shuffled closer, moving up from her thighs to the curve of her torso - right by her lower belly. You pressed yourself there, dropped your eyebrow, and gave her the sweetest eyes you could conjure.
“I just want to cuddle, Lili. Is that too much to ask for?” You sighed, moved your hands, and placed them on top of the book.
Without fail, as you’d hoped, Lilia conceded. She almost always did whenever you addressed her like that, being so unaccustomed to pet names and terms of endearment as she was. To hear it from your lips was a tantalising thing, a sign of worthiness and ongoing love, and you saved it for your more intimate moments - just to coax her into doing something you knew she wanted to do but was simply too stubborn to go through with. Like putting her book down and giving you all of her attention.
“I guess not,” she grumbled a few seconds later, melting into your efforts, and you grinned as she moved to set her book down on the bedside table.
“See?” You hummed as you reached forward to gently pull the glasses from her face, being careful to first slide the chain from around her neck. “I knew you’d come around.” They were placed next to the book a moment later and you didn’t even wait a passing second before you were pouncing into Lilia’s arms.
Like an overexcited puppy, your body went squirming and pushing into your lover’s, wiggling playfully as you worked your arms around her waist. She accepted you happily, letting out a sigh and a big eye roll before you tucked your face into her shoulder again and finally let the stress of the day properly wash off of your body. As Lilia’s muscles relaxed, allowing herself to give into the comforting weight of your clinging, she placed her lips to your shoulder and gave it a small kiss.
“You’re going soft on me,” you murmured into her ear, delighting in the low hum that rumbled from her chest.
“That’s the point,” she whispered, lighthearted and gentle.
Lilia couldn’t see the smile that spread across your face, but it was most certainly all soppy, soft, and loving. Utterly gormless, completely bewitched. She had you wrapped around every one of her fingers, oh her delightfully nimble fingers, and you never wanted to be unravelled. Not when paradise existed in her arms, flashing itself behind your closed eyes as Lilia began rubbing your back and tracing mindless shapes through the fabric of your shirt. Circles, squares, stars, triangles, trapezoids, words and phrases, squiggles and lines, suns and moons. Eventually, her pattern changed and she began following the same familiar loops and curves you’d seen her do a million times.
From the top of your left shoulder blade diagonally to the plush fold of your right hip.
L

A
A pause.
From the top of your right shoulder blade diagonally to the curve of your left hip.
C

U
Jesus fucking Christ.
Lilia retraced her writing with the lightest press of her fingernails, going back over the loops of her ‘L’, the hills and dips of each letter, until she reached the tail of her ‘u’ and lingered there. One second. Two seconds. Until your skin began to tingle, and then she started to draw little circles, going from small to big in a slow spiral, and your skin began to buzz. Her caresses made it sensitive, bringing it to life, forcing the expectant attentiveness only an eager body could have as you sat in her lap and started to squirm. The circles quickly faded into nothing before the pattern reset. Back up to your shoulder blade, again across her name.
“L-Lilia,” you breathed, feeling your body grow hot beneath her attention.
“What?” Came her whispered response, soft like satin against your ear as she closed her eyes and placed her chin on your shoulder.
She didn’t seem to realise what she was doing. All the warmth that she spread through you, continuously, while her traces turned to touches and she started pressing her palms to your back. She felt so good and gentle, so caring and calm, and when you took a deep stuttering breath to try and grasp your bearings, to delay the inevitable downfall of desire, you were once again overcome by her scent. It blanketed your lungs, purred within your soul, and the wildflowers, bourbon, jasmine, gardenia, lemon, love… the smell of love… made you whine. It was just so Lilia. So nostalgic, gentle, light and intoxicating.
She sparked a warmth—a stringy, viscous, thick warmth that settled in you. Like a pool in your abdomen, it burned and lapped. It called to her from the inside, reaching for the sweet kiss of her mouth, the gentle curl of her fingers, the way her tongue felt when it dragged along the inside of your thigh. You’d felt it before, yearned for it before, gone hours with and without the careful delicate heat Lilia always managed to coax from you. And it didn’t take much. It never did. All you needed was a thigh between your legs. Pressed up against a thin piece of cloth, the only thing separating your cunt from her skin. Hands on your back. Warm and grounding, the only thing keeping you from losing your mind. A mouth by your neck. Soft breaths fanning onto your shoulder, the only thing that broke your flimsy resolve.
“You’re making me horny.” It was blunt, soft, and said with such  tightness, you knew that it was obvious you were embarrassed.
You clenched your eyes shut.
How pathetic was it, after all, to be incapable of lasting a few minutes on your lover’s lap, receiving all of her attention, without succumbing to an eager lust? How pathetic was it to be unable to focus when she felt so good beneath you? Was that how your mind worked? So one-tracked? Was that how your body worked? So easy and loose for Lilia Calderu? Like a slut?
Yes. Yes, exactly.
You would do anything she asked of you. You’d be anything she wanted you to be. If Lilia woke up one morning and boldly decided that she always wanted you on top, that she wanted to stay in her pillow princess luxury and succumb to your tongue and hands until she couldn’t take it anymore, you’d do it. If Lilia decided that she never wanted you to touch her ever again, in history, and that she was the only one to harness any control in the bedroom, then you’d relinquish your own. If Lilia wanted you on a leash, if Lilia wanted you chained to a bed, if Lilia wanted you in a crate, on the floor, against a wall, against a table, against a ceiling, wearing nothing, wearing everything, wearing too much or too little, you wouldn’t stop her. You wouldn’t refute. Not because you couldn’t, but because you didn’t want to. She was a witch, a powerful witch, and a woman, a powerful woman, and the very second you looked into those neverending puppy dog eyes and saw the sadness and the strength, you were whipped. You were totally, absolutely hers. Lilia’s slut. No — Lilia’s girl.
But even Lilia’s girl made mistakes sometimes. Even Lilia’s girl was, in certain moments, too greedy. And the moment the words were out of your mouth, your depraved confession, her touch stopped.
It was excruciating.
Your chest hit hers with every deep inhale you drew, growing deeper the longer you sat there, and it began to shudder as your heart crawled into your ears. She was so still, so rigid, that your mind descended into worry. Did you ruin it? Did you say the wrong thing? Should you have left it? Ignored it? Maybe she just wanted to cuddle. Maybe you should’ve kept it to yourself, tried controlling it better, and returned to it in the bathroom after she fell asleep. Maybe you screwed up the evening because you couldn’t cuddle with Lilia for one second without wanting to fuck her brains out. Maybe..
“Do you want me to stop?”
You blinked. You didn’t really have a response. Of course the answer was God, no, but if Lilia wanted to stop, then you wouldn’t push her. You didn’t want her to feel obligated.
Lilia breathed slowly through her nose, off put by your silence, and pressed her still hands harder into your back.
“I- if-... if you want to,” you whispered quickly, terribly unsure with your wavering confidence but so desperate for her touch that you felt your mind grow hazy. Goodness, she was so close and she felt so warm. Your heart returned to your chest, eager to beat in sync with your lover’s as you felt her body slowly relax underneath you.
She let out a steady breath, so quiet you could barely hear, and then shattered the peace a second later.
One of the lingering palms on your back shot up to your hair, wrapped a thick handful of it into the curl of a fist, and wrenched your head back. You squealed, eyes tearing up with the sudden sharp pain in your scalp, and your body went falling into Lilia’s other hand. She held you up with only a flex and kept you there, suspended, unable to move.
“Be assertive,” Lilia commanded, not even giving you a moment to recover. “Do you want me to stop?” Her whisper was gone, replaced with a quiet serious depth, and you shivered as you looked into her eyes.
They were dark. Hypnotising. Swirling with chocolate desire, with the honour of love, and at the sight of her focus, her undivided attention, the knowledge that she knew — she knew you were dying for her – the flame in you soared into a blaze. It was a wicked sludgy sort of thing, intense and impulsive, and its hunger, its ache made you throb. Lilia’s hand twitched in your hair, feeling so much better the longer the sting settled, and the words were tumbling off of your tongue before you could catch them.
“No, no please. Please don’t stop Lili…,” your chest heaved with breath, affected by the feverish way she handled you, and you could feel the sickening helplessness of your expression. Brows furrowed, eyes wide and glossy, lips licked and cheeks dark. Pure want for your lover. Pure desperation.
“Please.”
Lilia considered you, running her deep gaze over your face. She took in the look of you, the need, and you watched her perfect lips purse, her beautiful eyes narrow, her dark brows furrow - before she hummed, relaxed the hand holding your hair hostage, and went to cradle the back of your head. You let her do it all without worry, knowing she wouldn’t hurt you, and sighed with bliss as she put pressure behind her fingers and brought you forward. Your eyes closed as your body was returned to its previous position, propped up against her, forehead pressed to the curve of her shoulder. Your legs clenched at her gentleness, at the contrast of her touch, and you shuddered as you felt her thigh, thick and soft and heavenly, stop you from getting any friction.
“Lilia-” you didn’t even know what you were going to say, if you were going to beg or if you were going to question or what you were going to do - but it didn’t matter.
She cut you off like a knife through flesh as her hands moved to trail down your sides, from the swell of your breasts to the soft plush of your waist to the dip and bend of your hips. Her touch was sure, strong, certain, and your hands flailed to grip at the back of her shirt when she suddenly settled her fingers into the hinge of your thighs and slowly, slowly, pushed you back. Slightly, a few inches, enough to have your legs falling open, leaving you there for a quarter of a second……. and then forward, slowly, to erase the space she made, to close the distance, to drag your core along her thigh. Once. Twice. Until you got the memo and started moving with her, whimpering as the ache in your abdomen started to ebb and flow.
Your forehead pressed further into her shoulder, lightly muffling the whimpers that dripped from your lips, and you moaned when she shifted herself forward to move her mouth up to your ear. It was velvet against your heated skin, teasing and sensitive, and Lilia took a soft breath in before she kissed the shell and whispered, quietly, like there were others in the room and she didn’t want any other soul on Earth to hear…
“You look like a whore.”
Then she sped up the pace, grasping your hips with more strength, nearing the point of bruising, and began pushing and pulling with smooth, quick tugs. You couldn’t do anything but hold on and move with her, shifting your hips back and forth on her thigh, and shiver every time your clit caught the fabric of your underwear. Your body had no trouble reacting; throbbing for her, dripping for her, ruining your panties while you clutched at her back and eventually abandoned her shirt to run your hands up over her bare skin. She was smooth, perfect, she felt like a woman beneath your touch, a lover, and you squished your cheek into her shoulder as you moaned. Loud, desperate, and unashamed.
“Lilia… oh god.” And she let out little pants for her efforts, lips parted and eyes hooded while she watched the way your hips moved for her, gliding with grace, slow like a dance, and the breaths quickly tumbled into soft groans as you shuffled closer and pressed your right knee up against her core.
“You feel so good,” you turned your head to whisper hurriedly, raggedly, into her ear. “S-so good…” And Lilia shuddered, biting her lip to hold back a moan as you began lifting your hips every time you were dragged forward.
Your sounds mixed so well, soft and loud and husky and whiny, twirling together in a lustful little symphony as your movements got faster and sloppier. And when your eyes fluttered closed and open in lazy blinks, you saw the tantalising skin of Lilia’s neck, shifting as she breathed, and you couldn’t resist. A strangled moan rumbled up from her throat at the feel of your tongue, wet and hot while you leaned in, closer, more, until your nose was also pressed to her neck and you could breathe her in. She tasted, smelled, felt like Lilia. Your Lilia. Sweet Lilia. Her head dipped as she pressed her nose to your neck, making you pant with desire at the closeness of her lips. You just needed them on you, painting you, opening up so she could be free to sink her teeth in and drink your life from your body if that’s what she wanted.
“I love you,” she husked, her breath making her deep voice shaky, and you responded with a harder thrust of your hips against her thigh and an open-mouthed kiss against her throat.
You were too far gone for words at that point, with her practically wrapped around you. Your mouth was open, your tongue was licking lazily, lolling like a dog’s, and your mind was fuzzy, dripping toward your cunt, only working to move you back and forth on your lover’s leg like a depraved little animal. A sickened beast. You couldn’t help it. Her thigh was the perfect surface, strong when she flexed, soft when she relaxed, thick and delicious, and shivers wracked your body as you followed the gestures of her hands. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. A heavenly friction against your clit, leaving the desperate weep of your hole to ache. It felt neglected, throbbing for Lilia’s fingers, but riding her thigh felt so good and you didn’t want to get up, you didn’t want to stop, even when your panties began sticking to your skin. You didn’t want to stop, even when your head got so fuzzy, your belly got so warm, your body got so hot that your grinding started to slow. It was hard to keep the pace as you felt your muscles burn, but Lilia wasn’t having it.
“A little longer,” she huffed, finally kissing your skin, melting you from the inside out with her soft lips. “Just a little.”
You nodded, choking on a whine as you started up again and forced all your strength into your grinding.
“Good girl,” Lilia hummed, pushing the hem of your shirt away from your neck with her chin so she could have more room to kiss. “Good girl…”
“L- Lili-a- I’m… hngg… I wanna- mmmnnn….” Cum. You wanted to cum. You wanted to cum on Lilia’s thigh, you wanted her to help, to encourage, and you nearly fell apart instantly when her teeth started pressing lightly, gently, into your shoulder and her tongue began to swirl around your skin.
“Come on,” she moved her mouth to your ear. “Come on, baby,” her tone was soft, coaxing, and you could sense the tease in her words.
But it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t enough. You were left on the burning edge, singing your fingers, whining to near tears in Lilia’s arms as you heaved, shuddered, whispered pleads and begs beneath your breath. The pool of desire only grew, glistening below you as you hung above, so close to falling, dangling by a thread, rutting your hips over and over like it would help. The friction was barely enough, pressing so deliciously against your swollen clit, but you were so wet that only the smallest thrusts, the littlest shifts, were all you could handle before the sensation slipped away. It was so frustrating, pulling a groan then a distressed whimper from your lips as your legs began to shake and your hands scratched at Lilia’s back. Not too hard, you didn’t want to hurt her, but the little red lines and the sting were enough to signal that you were having trouble.
“Relax,” Lilia whispered, making you choke on a breathy whine. “Relax for me.” She spoke slowly, softly, and you breathed in deeply through your nose to calm your pounding heart. “Listen.”
You nodded and nuzzled into her shoulder, slowing the pace of your hips but pressing harder into her leg. It felt so good, so good, but not enough- not enough.
“You’re beautiful,” Lilia panted, making your thighs twitch, “My beautiful girl.”
“Hmmpngg- Lilia- Lilia-,” you whimpered, letting out a little moan each time you moved.
“I know. I know you need it,” she nodded, then pressed another kiss to your neck. “Can you let go for me?” Her voice was like warm honey drizzled over your bones and your skin. “Can you let go for Momma?”
A thick, blinding bolt of heat flashed through your body, making you sweat and shiver against Lilia’s body. No no no- Momma’s body. You felt the desire bubbling, brimming, so close to falling into bliss that you could only close your eyes and go quiet.
“I know you can do it,” she spoke slowly, taking the reins back and using more force to speed up your thrusts. “Let go for me, sweetheart.” Her lips brushed your ear. “Be good and give in.”
“M- Mo-” you were red-faced, vision blurred with tears, your lower lip quivering, and Lilia came to your rescue.
“Momma gives you permission.”
And just like that, saved by the same woman that tortured you, the thread was cut, the ledge crumbled, and you fell.

Coupe glasses tinkle and laughter rings out as the rehearsal dinner draws toward an end. Everyone’s had a little too much of the hotel’s signature white sangria. On your left, Isabel and Reuben are frozen in blissed smiles, the outdoor lights casting an ethereal glow. An idyllic night before the wedding.
You should be relaxed. You’ve had a little wine, the most delicious dinner, and tomorrow your college roommate is getting married at this stunning resort. But every time that big hand grazes your shoulder or his breath heats the skin of your cheek, you’re reminded none of this is real and you desperately wish it was.
Tumblr media
The only difference between six-year-old Robert Floyd and the man standing in front of you is the broad shoulders. Those pink cheeks are just as prominent and his eyes are wide behind updated corrective frames. Sandy hair politely brushed off his face. Even his thin lips warp in that same warm smile that instantly relieves tension. The only significant difference is those shoulders that fill out the entire doorway as he checks his rooming assignment with Isabel.
From where you stand behind her, suitcase in tow, you feel your cheeks warm and your gaze drop. You haven’t seen him since the engagement party where you muttered, “it’s a small world after all” more than once. It seemed all too coincidental that your college roommate would be marrying a guy who just happens to be in the same Navy squadron as your first grade boyfriend.
To be fair, you had “dated” Bobby Floyd for a total of a week before your parent’s divorce landed you on the opposite side of the country. There hadn’t even been a formal breakup. He’d simply been the guy you jokingly referred to as your “first love” at wine nights. Occasionally you remembered his collection of vintage Coke bottle caps.
He was practically a figment of your imagination until Isabel introduced you to the man in the nicely ironed pale blue button down and you sputtered out that you already knew each other.
You’re so lost in how bizarre the coincidence of it all is that you zone out through Bob’s check-in and the next few guests that arrive. It’s not until her line of relatives has dwindled that she remembers you’re sat behind her, sorting out the favors for after the reception.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, I should have given you your card earlier!” she apologizes as she flips back over her clipboard to find your room number. It’s all forgiven, you were waiting to finish up your bridesmaid duties before checking in. Get the work out so you can slip on your bathing suit and enjoy the amenities - pool, sun, and cabana boys - before dinner tonight.
She hands you a room card and walks you through the map of the hotel. You miss the second half while gathering up all your items, mentally trying to remember exactly how many rights before a left. Dinner is at seven and anything else surely she will remind you. With a kiss to her cheek, you head off to your room to begin the fun part of this destination wedding.
The property is stunning, all sun-washed sandstone and lush tropical plants. Deep blue terry cloth draped over the sun loungers you would live on all weekend. Some sun to compliment what should be a flawless wedding weekend. Maybe you’d get lucky and one of Reuben’s hot Navy friends would join you for some eye candy. You deserved a little one-weekend-in-paradise romance.
Suite 4. It’s a little deflating to remember that you’re in this big suite alone because all the other bridesmaids have dates. A least you have some privacy. The intricately carved door accepts your room key and you push the heavy wood open, ready to change and relax.
W-why was Bob in your villa?
Standing amongst the floor-to-ceiling windows draped with ochre that overlook the ocean, white oak furnishing topped with plush linen bedding, and a trailing pothos overtaking the wall, was Bob Floyd - right in the middle of changing his shirt. Equally wide eyes taking you in as he held the bunched heathered grey cotton right in front of his head, thumbs through the head hole, mouth open in shock.
“What are you doing in here?”
What was he doing in here? This was your room. “Why are you in my room?”
Despite knowing he’s not in the wrong, his cheeks tinge a deep pink. Takes a moment to pop his head in the hole of his shirt and brush out the wrinkles. You cling to to the annoyance of him interrupting your afternoon instead of focusing on how toned he’s gotten as an adult.
“This is my room. Suite 4. See?” He holds up a card identical to yours, the glossy ‘4’ reflecting the sunlight. The same ‘4’ that looks back at you.
Clearly there’s been some sort of mistake, someone at reception accidentally typing in the wrong number while going about their busy day or Isabel reading her meticulous list wrong. An easy fix.
You bite your lip. “Oh. Maybe I grabbed the wrong card. I’ll go find Isabel and sort it out.”
“I’ll come with you, she might have handed me the wrong card. Probably supposed to be sharing a bed with Fanboy.” He’s impossibly sweet as always.
You have no idea who or what a Fanboy is, but you accept his company back to reception, leaving your bag in the room purely because the bridesmaid dress alone weighs a half ton. The walk back there - with a few long turns - is a tad awkward as you both walk in silence, occasionally jerking your heads in the direction to turn.
Isabel has wandered away from reception, and is now soaking in one of the poolside bars with Reuben, their lovesick smiles contagious. She gives you the warmest smile when you approach, face splitting in two as she takes in your companion. “Hey, you two! You get settled in okay?”
God, this is awkward. Thankfully before you can muster the courage, Bob steps in. “I think there’s been a mix up with one of our rooms.”
Her eyebrows furrow as takes in what he said. Eyes flit to her lounger where her clipboard of rooming assignment lies within her tote. Reuben sips his frozen margarita in casual interest, not involved in the logistics.
“Which room are you in?” Even without her clipboard, Isabel is pretty sure she knows who is in what room. She spent months perfecting these details.
You hold up the glossy ‘4’, now slightly sticky with your sweat.
“Four? Hmm, I’m pretty sure that’s right. Was there a problem with the key? Both your keys?”
You give her a bewildered look. “One of us has the wrong key. We’re not sharing a room.”
“Why not? Your prude parents aren’t here to care if you share a room with your boyfriend.”
Every muscle in your body freezes. What is she talking about?
And while you’re paralyzed on the spot, Reuben looks like he’s about to throw up the margarita. Because he knows exactly what just happened. And not only is it his fault, but he does not have a solution.
Before you can question Isabel, the pilot is throwing his arm around your shoulders and grabbing Bob’s elbow, whisking you two away, calling out to his confused fiancée not to worry, he’s got it handled. The controlled hands of a fighter pilot steering you back in the way of Suite 4 while his face reads like he’s watching a plane crash.
Reuben won’t answer any of your questions, holding up a palm while you sputter out the who, what, where’s? of what is going on. Bob silently allows himself to be directed, confusion upon his brow, but patient enough to wait for an explanation.
Once you’re privately within the confines of Suite 4, the soft scent of bergamot and sandalwood wrapped around your bodies, Reuben finally confesses his mistake.
“Isabel thinks you two are dating.”
You expect to see eyeballs on the floor from how violently they pop out of your head. What? Bob doesn’t look much better. You two have barely spoken in decades, let alone are in a relationship! Why in the hell would Isabel think that?
Reuben drags a hand down his face, wishing he was back in the pool drinking. “When Bob over here told me that you two dated way back, I casually mentioned it to Is. When she asked the other week if he’d be good sharing a room, I thought she meant Fanboy or Harvard.”
You skip over the fact that Bob has talked about you to other people to focus on the details. “She meant me.”
“How was I supposed to know that?” By this point he’s rubbing the skin on the back of his neck raw, eyes wildly desperate. “Can you two share? It’s only two nights.”
Your eyes meet ocean blue as you both look at the single bed, then at each other. Bob intervenes calmly. “Why can’t you just tell her we need another room?”
Reuben crosses his arms across his chest, suddenly defensive. “We don’t have any other rooms. We booked the place out entirely. Short of Aunt Muriel keeling over, one of you would have to be at another hotel.”
“That’s fine,” you quip, grabbing your suitcase and ready to get the hell out of this situation.
“There’s nothing within a half hour drive. And you’re both in the wedding, that is not going to fly with Isabel.”
You’re tough, you can do hard things. Two nights at a gorgeous resort where you have to share a king-sized bed with the sweetest man on the planet? Could be so much worse. From a look at Bob’s face, he’s having the same realization.
And right as you’re about to tell Reuben that it’s not a big deal, he sends in the clincher.
“You’re also gonna have to pretend you’re dating.”
“You’re joking.” Your tinny voice rings out in the room. You can do a lot of things - go to a wedding alone, sleep in the same bed as Bob - but you draw the line at pretending you’re dating someone you hadn’t seen until an engagement party six months ago. Nope, no way.
You look at Bob, standing with his hand resting low on his hip, watching this entire scene unfold. Giving him an expectant look, he smooths out his face and gives you a little nod. He’s on whatever team you’re on.
And just as you were about to tell Reuben to get lost, Isabel’s sweet face floods your mind’s eye. That happy smile she always greets you with, and her dismay that something had gone wrong with your room. Her perfectly planned out wedding weekend ruined by her misunderstanding a minor detail. She would insist that you have separate rooms, even if it interfered with plans, and she’d be upset - the smallest tinge of disappointment clouding her bridal smile.
Isn’t the job of a bridesmaid to make the bride not have disappointment?
And now, sitting here at the rehearsal dinner, warm conversation all around you, you can still hear yourself let out a large huff of breath and agree. “Alright, we can pretend for the weekend.”
It’s a decision you stand by, but doesn’t make the subtle way Bob has been playing your boyfriend the last 24 hours any easier. He plays devoted partner a little too well. Carrying your beach bag down to the water that afternoon when everyone wanted to sit by the pool, sweetly rubbing sunscreen into that spot on your back that you can never reach. Grabbing a drink for you when he went up to the bar.
Your lonely wedding weekend is suddenly filled with this broad-shouldered Navy man who gives you a shy smile every time you make eye contact.
There wasn’t time to put in ground rules before Reuben threw you you to the wolves to socialize with the rest of the wedding party. When Isabel saw you, standing a healthy foot away from Bob and her sculpted eyebrow raised, it was the first test of this “relationship”. Your heart slamming in your chest as you slipped a hand around that thick bicep and rested your hot cheek against his shoulder. His own face fighting anxiety as he allowed you to set the pace. Isabel’s smile brightening as she beckoned you closer, instantly fawning over the two of you and the way Bob’s hand fits a little too nicely around your waist.
Thankfully the copious amount of relatives and friends constantly interrupting Isabel and Reuben prevented your friend investigating too close into this development in your love life. Happy to believe over some intentionally placed hands and the casual way he throws sweetheart in when asking if you want a drink.
“Now that I have you alone, why didn’t you tell me you were together? First loves reunited?!” Isabel drags you away to the other bridesmaids, Bob giving you a small wave as he joins the men.
You shrug, making a show of looking at the hibiscus to avoid her eyes. Desperate for a believable lie. “I didn’t want to…uh, distract from your big day?”
She wraps you in a warm hug you don’t deserve. “Not distracting in the slightest. He’s the best, you’re so lucky!”
You throw a glance his way, watching his good-natured grin as Reuben’s groomsmen, mostly aviators he’s worked with over the years, joke and jostle on the other side of the lawn. It’s side glances like these that carry through the night; when he pulls your chair out for dinner, asks the waiter to refill your water, and offers you half of his dessert. When your eyes do meet, you drown in the twin oceans that twinkle back at you.
By the time you’re heading back to Suite 4 to share that big bed, you’re pretty sure you’re not pretending to like him anymore.
Tumblr media
You’re regretting not putting up the pillow barrier Bob so kindly offered to set up. It seemed childish at the time - you didn’t need a divider to stay on your side of the bed - but now you’re lying here in your little cotton pajamas you did not expect anyone to see and you can hear him breathing and the room is a little too warm. Every sense is on high alert and a pillow barrier would give you an inkling of privacy.
In the silhouette of the moonlight peaking through the curtains, you watch the planes of Bob’s face as he peacefully sleeps beside you. If he’s good looking in the daytime, he’s breathtaking at night. Pale eyelashes against his cheeks, lips slightly pouted, hair mussed from changing sides. You wish you could smooth your fingers over the planes of his face, appreciate the sharpness of his jaw, the roundness of his cheeks.
Tomorrow you have to pretend all over again to be in love with him. A feeling that’s already starting to creep inside you. A whole day of his gentle touches and laughs against your cheek. He was the perfect boyfriend that week in grade school, and even more perfect as an adult. Holding his hand made you want to never let go…which promptly made you want to jump out of your skin.
This was a tiny white lie to get through Sunday morning. That was it.
You keep replaying the last moment before you retired back to your hotel room for the night. The drunken group sitting around the fire pit, a bottle of tequila making its way around the circle. Not enough chairs so you ended up in Bob’s lap, body cradled in the firm comfort of his chest.
He made it so natural, the way his hand ran up and down your arm when you shivered in the night chill. You knew he could feel the shock up your spine when you noticed how intently he watched you during your story of how Isabel found a rat in your dorm room. He made you feel like the only person out there by the fire pit. The only person on this island.
When even the tequila couldn’t keep you warm any longer, the group disbanded in favor of cozy beds and hot showers. And even when no one else was in sight he still kept his arm around your shoulder to share his warmth, the pinching heels you’d shed in his hand as he asked whether you wanted to shower first.
Lips accidentally brushing your ear when he said he liked your dress; it matched the bougainvillea.
While you hadn’t spent much time together since your parents moved you away too long ago to remember, you were continually floored by how thoughtful he was still. He remembered how Isabel didn’t like ice, and that a few members of his squadron had allergies. Giving up his water because the woman next to him was without. Not to mention how he seemed to go the extra mile with you. All the years of boyfriends before this and not a single one had ever noticed you picked the pine nuts out of your salad; your new fake boyfriend requesting a fresh one sans nuts.
And it was borderline torture watching him get ready for bed post shower. Face and chest red from the scalding water and slick hair pushed back, towel slung a little too low as he dug through his suitcase. You were still speechless as he offered to put up a pillow barrier or something if it would make you more comfortable, making sure you knew he respected your boundaries.
His eyes were so blue without his glasses…
Caution to the wind, you run a finger over his cheek, brushing away a rogue eyelash and promptly turn away from him. Only one more day and you would be free of wanting a man that wasn’t yours.
Tumblr media
The Fitch wedding day was perfect. Wide smiles, bridal lace, stunning hydrangeas, and not a dry eye in the house when Isabel and Reuben officially became husband and wife. It was the storybook start to a happy ever after.
The sunlight blessed ceremony was followed by a lantern-lit reception, dancing and drinking overtaking the sprawling beach-front lawn of the hotel. You stayed out until the evening ended, the wedding party laughing and overfilling glasses of champagne until the last lantern was blown out.
You barely remembered your rooming/relationship situation until a warm hand was on your forearm, asking if you were ready to go back to the room. It’s entirely unfair how good he looks in his suit. All day you’ve admired it, from the moment he emerged from the bathroom asking for help with his bow tie to an hour ago, when the wedding party did one last rendezvous on the dance floor.
Bob has an ease on the dance floor, clearly practiced, the hand on the small of your back gently guiding. A hand big and warm and more distracting than trying to remember your own footwork. The dark-haired woman he seems close with whooping out, “Look at those moves, Floyd!” every time you get close, her own date cheering along.
You shake the memory from your brain as Bob walks you back to the room. Keep the pining to a minimum until you can get to the airport and not have to see him ever again. You’re doing this for Isabel, your own emotions have no place. Even as you watch him open the door to the room and welcome you inside, looking so perfectly boyfriend-shaped.
Your skin feels too hot, your head clouded by bubbles and loud poppers exploding into the sky. Shedding this satin dress and getting into a warm shower sounds like heaven, washing away the buzzing ill-content flooding your body since you joined the wedding group that morning hand-in-hand with Bob. But a broken zipper interrupts those plans.
“Bob?” He stills on his way to the bathroom, bow tie loose around his neck. You indicate to the stuck zipper you’re fiddling with, warmth flaring at the top of your cheeks at your predicament.
The tips of his ears flush as he walks to you, chest a breath away from your back, admiring the way the satin flows over your curves and dips. Takes a moment to gather your hair over your shoulder before reaching for the zipper. The skin of his pinky accidentally brushes your neck, twin breaths catching at the shock.
Firm fingers guide the zipper onto the track. As they guide the cool metal down your back, the boiling point that has been simmering below the surface since yesterday afternoon comes to a head. The lace of your bra is visible. Now the silken band of your underwear. The air of the room is still, eagerly awaiting what happens next.
While his voice is shaky, his words are firm. “I don’t want to pretend anymore.”
Your head turns to the side, eyes catching his profile, too scared to look at him directly.
“What are you pretending to do?”
His face falls into the crook of your neck, fingers tightening along the satin of your hips. “Pretending I’m doing our friends a favor. Pretending I’m not falling for you. Pretending every time I touch you it’s not the best part of my day.”
Your hand wraps around his, rough skin and satin beneath your fingers. Needing to tether yourself to reality to make sure this isn’t a champagne-fueled dream that he’s professing against your neck.
“In that case, I don’t want to pretend anymore either.”
While you can’t see him, you can feel his realization against your skin. Brow furrowing, lips parting. The soft brush of his nose as he straightens up, uses his hands to turn you to him. Finally forced to look at each other amidst the information divulged.
You aren’t sure who leans in first, who braved the waters of uncharted territory. Time stills and speeds up as his face grows closer. The scent of sandalwood and bergamot that’s followed you all weekend replaced by the woodsy mint of his cologne you’ve treated yourself to when tucked into his side. Anyone outside can hear two hearts beating erratically, anxious and excited.
His lips are warm and comforting, just like everything else about him. Pressing delicately against yours, taking his time and letting you set the pace. You’re torn between the shock of how divine he feels and the greedy need for more. Senses overwhelmed by him; you want to taste more, feel more, see more.
When he pulls away, a gentleman not wanting to overstep, you’re breathless.
“I’ve always wondered what it would be like to kiss you.” His confession is paired with pink cheeks and large hands playing with your fingers.
You can’t help but to tease him, the banter from your childhood coming back. “Did it live up to expectations?”
“Way, way better.” Your smile is swallowed in his kiss, chins knocking as you trade off enthusiasm. A groan leaving Bob as you grab his hands and walk back to the bathroom. That hot shower still sounds amazing, but you need more of him.
The travertine tiles glow in the soft light as you watch your childhood love remove his suit, taking time to fold the pieces on the counter, letting you indulge in unbuttoning his crisp shirt as you share another sweet kiss. His own hands twisted in the dress barely clinging to your skin. The sounds that escape him as your hands explore his chest are purely sinful, meant only for your ears.
He barely lets you bask in his body, honed from years of Naval training, before he’s stripping the satin from your frame. You beg for another kiss, but he denies you. He can’t be distracted from watching every inch of skin being revealed. From letting his fingers follow the fabric as it pools at your feet. From kissing his way back up your body until your head falls back against the wall, fingers beckoning him to the shower.
“You’re so beautiful.” It’s more breath than words, but ignite the goose flesh along your skin as he adjusts the hot water and shower head to your liking.
Minutes or hours passed as you reacquainted under the steam. Your fingers tangled in wet strands of sandy hair, fingers slipping along any skin you can reach. His own hands tightly hugging your body, holding you close as he appreciates your nude form. Swallowing each other’s moans as his fingers dip between your folds and you run your palm along his shaft.
The universe has ceased to exist by the time Bob kisses you against the shower wall, fingers wrapping under your thighs to hoist you to his level. Loving the way you giggle as your arms wrap around his neck, trusting him wholeheartedly. Eyes trained at where he lines up with you, relishing the way your breath catches in anticipation. He kisses your forehead as a promise to take care of you, a promise you know he’ll keep.
Once he’s seated deep in you, the moment about connecting rather than getting off, he tilts your head up to check in with you. A kiss as his eyes search you for discomfort. The flames of his eyes burning the brightest blue. One final clench around him and he knows he needs to move; if not for his sake, for yours.
It’s the most glorious dream as he fills you completely, hips rocking into yours as sweaty foreheads meet.
When he brings you to orgasm, a steamy moment punctuated by your muffled screams against his shoulder, there’s nothing fake about the affection as he peppers you with praise. Or when he fills you with his own release a moment later, exhaling thank you, thank you, thank you.
A pillow barrier isn’t even discussed as you lay in his arms that night, cheek against bare chest. His arm trails down your arm like it had the night before, a mindless action you now recognize as meaningful to him as to you. Sated and content, as it should be.
You sit up a little to run your nose along his neck, producing a low groan from him. “You need something, sweetheart?”
“I was wondering, after that,” you gesture to the shower, cheeks heating, “does this mean we’re, uh, dating again?”
He smiles at your flush, cupping your face with one of his large hands. Presses the sweetest kiss to your lips.
“You know, we never had a break up. Technically we’ve been dating this whole time.”

“I’m almost done with this assignment and then after we can watch a movie, sound good to you?”
You scribbled down a few words, waiting for Donghyuck to respond to your question, but you were returned with a half-assed hum. This catches your attention, mainly because it wasn’t like Donghyuck to be disinterested in a movie. He said once that movie nights were his favourite nights.
“Hyuck?” you shift your attention from your work to your best friend, brows knitting together.
Donghyuck’s lying on your bed, eyes looking straight up to the ceiling with an empty expression. You don’t even think he’s blinking.
“Hyuck.” Your voice is firm, trying to catch his attention. You can’t even see him blinking through his glasses, lips falling into a pout.
“Lee Donghyuck!”
You finally catch his attention, though all he does is turn his head in your direction, “Yeah? Sorry… I zoned out.” He sits up on your bed, crossing his legs underneath him.
“I was saying how I’ll just finish this assignment and then we can go on with movie night,” you repeat, “Are you okay? Still up for it?” Your head tilts to the side and Donghyuck has to look away before you cause his heart to arrest.
“Of course I am, I just…” He bites his bottom lip and blinks at the wheels of your chair.
“Is this about what my friends said earlier?” You frown. In all honesty, you didn’t even want to talk about it because you know your anger issues are going to take over. When Donghyuck fails to give you a reply, you follow the question up, “It is, isn’t it?”
“My feelings are valid,” he retorts stiffly, falling back onto his back, “I know I’m pathetic for not even getting my first fucking kiss at this age but—”
“You’re not pathetic, Hyuck,” you interrupt, angry at how he was putting himself down for something so ridiculous, “Don’t say that. Everyone lives life at their own pace.” You throw a soft punch at his knee and he yelps despite it not hurting.
“I know, you’ve told me that before, but when it’s pointed out, I see why it’s stupid,” he goes on, “Like not one person has brought themselves to want to kiss me? How pathetic is that?”
Trains of thought begin running through your head and you let the question hang in the air for too long. Far too long that this makes Donghyuck nervous, “You could at least say that it is pathetic instead of not saying any–”
“What if… what if I kissed you?”
Donghyuck shoots up, “What?”
“What if I kissed you.” You say more confidently, “Then you could say that you kissed someone.”
Donghyuck’s chewing on his lip now, unsure whether or not this would be a good idea, “You’d do that?... Would that even count?”
“I’ll count it if you do…” You say, “Besides, if you’re okay with it, and I’m okay with it, it counts.” Your legs scooches your chair closer to Donghyuck, almost as if anticipating his answer.
If Donghyuck was being honest, he liked the idea. It’s not like he’s been waiting for this for the longest time, no… he just thought it was a good idea. And it was you he was going to kiss for god’s sake. He trusted you, he cared about you, he wouldn’t mind if his first kiss was you. Hell, he wanted his first kiss to be you, “Okay.”
You scoot closer so that your knees touch his, “Go whenever you’re ready.”
“O-okay,” Donghyuck’s taken aback by how straight forward you’re being. He nods once and shifts forward in place, leaning forward to bring his face closer to yours, “Okay, I’ll do it now.”
You can feel his warm breath on your face and it somehow sends you shivers down your neck. The proximity between the two of you is small. It felt like he was doing it on purpose to tease you and you were tempted to be the one who closed the gap between the two of you.
Donghyuck comes closer and you’re ready to close your eyes, but then he pulls away, “Shit, s-sorry.” He apologizes, “I’m fucking this up, aren’t I?” A frown grows on his lips, worried that he was actually making it awkward between the two of you, just because of a kiss, “Are you sure you’re okay with this?”
You nod, “I’m the one who suggested it, Hyuck.”
He huffs and nods again. He starts closing in on you. His hands instinctively reach up to grab your face, and at that point you know he’s going to commit to it. Just like earlier, you feel his breath tickle your lips, and before you know it, Donghyuck’s plush lips are pressed up against yours.
Donghyuck holds back a gasp, holding his lips to yours. For a moment, he’s afraid he’s doing it wrong, unsure whether or not he’s moving his lips correctly, but the second you begin kissing back, hands finding the back of his neck in hopes of finding something to hold onto, a sense of relief washes over him.
He pulls away to breathe before pushing his mouth back onto yours. The kiss was deep, that was for sure, something he didn’t expect to happen. When you suggested a kiss, he thought you meant something along the lines of a ‘one-two’ and done, not this. But he didn’t mind it. And it seemed like you didn’t either.
In fact, he likes the feeling. There’s a warm feeling growing in his chest the longer the kiss lasts and he couldn’t get enough of it.
So this was why people did it so often. It felt good.
Donghyuck’s arms slither around your figure, bringing his hands to your back. Then he pulls you closer. And again, you don’t mind.
And just as he feels your tongue tapping gently on his lips to let him in, Donghyuck feels something sharp scratch the bridge of his nose and it doesn’t take him long to realize that his glasses were getting in the way of everything.
He pulls back, groaning, out of breath before he rips them off of his face—because, no, he doesn’t care if he can’t see your face. All he wants to do is kiss you.
“Fuck it,” he mutters before he smashes his lips back onto yours.

[6:58 pm]
(cw: yeah it’s hurt with comfort babes)
For weeks now you’d been left with some kind of numb, bittersweet feeling stuck in your gut. You wanted to address it, of course you did, it was big news. However, every time you let your mind linger on the thought you felt sad and physically ill. It didn’t help that your time with him was so limited either. When he had time at home, he was catching up on sleep and trying to enjoy the time you had together, even if some days it was just breakfast together.
There was no avoiding it anymore. Now, it was just a couple of days away. His comeback commitments were done, he’s been taking more and more calls, and every second you spent around him made you want to cry. How were you just supposed to go from talking to him everyday to just a small window of time to talk to him? How were you supposed to get used to walking from one room to see him to just not having him there anymore?
The front door opened as you blinked your eyes to get rid of the tears. Jaehyun was back home from his top secret errand of the day. “Honey, I’m home,” he sings out playfully.
Your heart skips a beat as it usually when you hear Jaehyun’s voice, “I’m in the living room!”
You turn as you hear his footsteps and gasp when he comes into view. His hair is gone. His lovely, long blond locks are gone and he has a buzzed head. No hair. Bald. You will your brain to think of something to say but instead your throat tightens and your eyes get wet.
“Is it that bad?” Jaehyun awkwardly chuckles.
It’s as if his voice breaks the dam of all your bottled up emotions. You can’t stop the shake of your shoulders, your shuddered breaths, your tears, or any of the racing thoughts. How is he just going to be gone in 2 days?
Jaehyun comes over and pulls you into his hold while he rocks you back and forth while your tears stain the cotton of his shirt. “Love, you have to tell me what you’re feeling. I can’t help you if you don’t tell me,” he tells you in a calm voice.
“But you can’t help me! You won’t be here! For 2 years!” You exclaim through your tears.
“I thought it was a little strange you refused to talk about this,” Jaehyun hums, going quiet for a second to gather his thoughts. “I know whatever I say will be easier said than done, but just listen to me, alright? We’ve already done the long distance and weird hours haven’t we? How many times have I gone on tour and been a handful of time zones away? Countless, my love.”
“I’ll be back before you know it. We’ll be in the same country. I can take breaks to come see you. We still get to talk to each other. I’m not going to space,” Jaehyun smiles, swiping his thumbs under your eyes as your tears slow.
“It’s just,” your voice breaks, “I’m so used to having you home. I like having you home. Now, it’s going to be 2 years of not being able to walk down the hall and see you. Your body wash won’t go down, your clothes won’t move, I’ll have to choose dinner for myself, I have to go grocery shopping alone, I won’t have to sit through those random basketball games you play. I’m going to miss you!”
“You think I want to live with a bunch of random men for 2 years? I’m going to miss you too, my love. More than anything in the world. But I promise you, it’ll be more like I’m on tour. We’ve done it a bunch of times already. We know we can do this. Plus, it’s not like you’re going to leave me right? That ring on your finger isn’t for nothing.”
You stare at his fingers, twisting your engagement ring around your finger as you sniffle. You’re going to miss this too, “Don’t even joke about me leaving you. I wouldn’t have committed to you for over like 7 years now if I want in it for the long run.”
“Like 7 years,” Jaehyun scoffs playfully, “you mean 6 years, 6 months and 14 days?” He kisses your forehead, holding you impossibly close, “I committed too, this is only going to make us stronger. You’re actually going to be so sick of me. I wrote you all these little letters, I have deliveries scheduled, I pre bought you birthday and Christmas gifts even though I’ll be here for those. I’ll call you every chance I get. I promise you, my love.”
You snuggle closer to him, “you’re the best.”
“I know, alright. You can play with my hair now, I know you want to,” Jaehyun smiles.
Your open hand runs over the new, short hairs, “you look really handsome. I like it.”
“Haechan said I’m my head looked bigger.”
“Well, it’s a handsome big head.”

meine liebe, mein leben
pairing: könig x wife!reader
warnings: pregnancy
summary: after spending months on the battlefield, könig comes home to find you with a swollen tummy.
Tumblr media
könig couldn’t wait to get home to you, his beloved wife. his love, his life. he had been dying to see you, hold you, kiss you and make love to you again throughout the entirety of his mission.
he kept a polaroid of you in his pocket, in case he felt down or if he missed you. seeing your face always made his day better. and whilst he kept a polaroid of you, a heart-shaped locket with a tiny photo of him inside adorned your neck. it was old school and cute.
he was glad you were willing to stay by his side, despite knowing he was in the military and that he would always get deployed. he hated leaving you, but you reassured him about it, saying it was his job.
after what felt like a decade; staying in a town turned into a war zone, keeping civilians safe and protecting them from terrorists, he could finally go home.
on his way home, he felt giddy.
he didn’t notify you of the news because he wanted to surprise you. were you cooking or cleaning right now? should he surprise you by wrapping his arms around your waist? he could imagine your reaction. you would scream at first, thinking it was an intruder, but when you realized it was just your dear husband, you would hug him so tight he could barely breathe.
he opened his and your house with a spare key. unlocking the door, he stepped in and was greeted with a great silence. you weren’t vacuuming the living room, you weren’t cooking in the kitchen, you weren’t eating something in the dining room. he felt slightly disappointed the surprise didn’t turn out like what he imagined in his head, but oh well, you were probably sleeping in the bedroom.
so he headed towards the bedroom and there you were, sleeping soundly on the king-sized bed.
he dropped his gear onto the ground, including his helmet and mask, slowly getting on the bed.
“i’m home.” he whispered into your ear, nuzzling his head in the crook of your neck.
you only hummed in response.
he chuckled.
“(y/n)… meine liebe… i’ve returned.”
you scrunched your face, eyes opening. you were met with the sight of your husband’s handsome face – which you had the privilege of seeing all the time – hovering above your own.
“könig?”
“ja, i’m here. i’m home.”
your eyes widened and you abruptly sat up.
“könig.” you repeated as if you couldn’t believe your eyes. you reached out to touch his cheek, moving your thumb up and down in a slow motion.
you missed him so much. so very much. every single day, you thought about him, if he was doing alright, when he would return, etcetera.
as tears began to well up in your eyes, könig, the ever so loving husband, began to worry and asked, “what’s the matter, meine liebe?”
“i’m just glad you’re home and safe.” you sniffled. “we wouldn’t know what to do without you.”
könig was confused.
“we?” he pointed out.
you nodded. you took his hand, guiding it to your belly, where your child resided.
“y–you’re pregnant?” his eyes looked like they were about to pop out and his jaw about to hit the floor.
“yes.”
“how…” he trailed off, staring at your evident baby bump.
“how far along am i? four months. that’s how long you’ve been gone.” you caressed your belly.
you were worried for a second, thinking he didn’t want a child, but your worries washed away when he pulled you in for a hug and a kiss.
“my baby is having a baby!” he exclaimed excitedly. “i’m gonna be a father!” he was overjoyed with happiness. never did he ever see himself marrying someone and having a baby with them, but look at him now. he was a husband and a father.
you sighed in relief. “i thought you were upset. i was worried for a sec.”
“worried? why?” he was taken aback by your words. he grabbed both of your hands, pulling them towards his face and placing a gentle peck on them. “this is the best moment of my life. i would never be upset about this. you’re my love, my life. meine liebe, mein leben.”
“you’re my love and life too.”
after saying that, you shared one last kiss before dozing off in each other’s arms.

Reader’s POV:
“What are you thinkin’ about, pretty girl?” Rafe mumbles as he leans into your neck, kissing you gently, his large arm wrapped around you. You rest your hand on his thigh, letting him pull you against his broad frame as you do your best to calm down.
There was a list of things, really; it’s the night of The Purge, after all. The terror behind it was never easy to think about. Then, to top it all off, your very first dinner at the Cameron’s place. Somehow, you found yourself more nervous about the latter. Taking a deep breath, you melted against him, your lips finding his for a soft kiss. “Nothing, baby. Just a little anxious.” You whispered against his mouth. Rafe draws the same breath, not wanting to wave off your worry.
This was always a difficult night; the houses and residents of Figure 8 always seemed to get hit the hardest. The hatred, violence, and aggression The Cut held inside for this side of the island were clear, rightfully so—vandalism, theft, arson, beatings, murder; complete and utter chaos. But the Kooks weren't innocent either; they never are. Their crimes on Purge Night seemed to go unnoticed, brushed under the rug, their faces hidden under satirical masks. By the morning, when everyone pulled themselves out of their safe rooms, the manicured streets would be torn to shreds. The Kooks would be in “mourning” for the rest of the year, attending fundraiser after fundraiser, gala after gala, to return their neighborhoods to how they once were.
“You’re gonna be alright, princess. You have your safe room. We have ours. We can talk on the phone all night. Aight? I’m gonna look after Rose and Wheezie; your dad promised me that you’d be safe. It’ll be just like any other night.”
“I wish we could’ve stayed on campus,” your voice whispered as you lifted your head to meet his gaze. Your eyes burned from the heat of the tears threatening to spill down yours cheeks.
“That campus is gonna go to shit, princess. Always does. Tons of kids with rage to spare. We’re safer here.” You look up at the TV screen, Rafe’s words affirmed as they showed CCTV footage from the year before, your college campus flickering across the screen. It looked like a war zone… Rafe was right. The both of you were safer here.
“Reports had shown last year’s Purge had been the most successful to date, with the most murders committed.”
The journalist speaks with pride as she delivers the news. You could feel the chills run down your body, goosebumps flaring across your bare thighs. Rafe, of course, took notice of this, pressing a rough kiss to your forehead. “We’re graduatin’ next year. We’ll have a place of our own, just you and me,” He assured, reminding you of that sweet truth.
“Just you and me,” You echoed as you matched his pretty blue eyes. Wheezie’s phone buzzes, making you match her gaze across the living room. She’s an eavesdropper, lovingly so, her mood shift evident after listening your conversation with Rafe, knowing that it might just be Rose, Ward, and herself next year. Her protector, gone. “You too, of course, Wheez,” you smiled at her. She purses her lips, fluttering her lashes, quickly hurrying herself back to having her face buried in her phone to hide her emotion.
"Red or white?" Rose asked sweetly, her hands resting on a wine glass as she waited for your reply.
"Red wine, please." You smiled. “Thank you.”
"Rafe, would you like red?" She asked, earning a nod in reply from him. Rafe glanced over his shoulder, watching his stepmom run four glasses of wine. "Dinner will be ready in five.” She announced.
You gave her a polite smile and nod, nerves bubbling— this dinner was a staple in the Cameron house. It was like Thanksgiving in July: immaculate, decadent, excessive. A love letter to the Pogues, to give them just one more reason to hate the Kooks before the sirens sounded.
“Who knows, maybe next year we can Purge together,” Rafe whispers against your ear. The suggestion alone made your stomach fall. The unseriousness in his tone evident as he razzes you for shock value. But he’s joking… right? You let out a small breath when you heard his laugh, his arm gripping you tighter. “M’kidding, pretty.” He chuckled, amused by your reaction.
The jingle of a collar pulled your thoughts away as Rafe’s dog, Penny, rounded the corner and made her way over with a jump onto the couch. The large golden retriever snuggled next to you as she always did, making you smile softly at the momentary distraction. Rafe reached down, scratching her head with his grin. “Think Pen would rather spend the night with you than me, sweetheart,” he coos as he looks at her, making the sweet girl wag her tail. “Traitor.”
You looked at her, touching her soft fur before speaking. “Next year, it’ll be you, Rafey, me, and Wheez,” you speak to her sweetly as you scratch her head.
“That’s right,” Rafe hums happily.
"Dinner's ready,” Rose calls from the kitchen. Rafe weaves his larger hand in yours, leading you toward the table. Like the gentleman he was, he pulled out your chair and waited for you to take your seat before pushing it in. It was the sound of heavy footsteps that made the both of you glance up, seeing the patriarch himself. Ward Cameron. Rafe looks over his plate as he sits down, praising Rose and avoiding eye contact with his father as the older man sits across from him.
"So Alexis, how is school going for you?" Ward asked, causing Rose and Wheezie’s conversation to hush as he mentioned Rafe’s ex-girlfriend, Alexis Thornton's name, not yours. You were taken aback a little, but tried not to show it on your face. You didn’t know how to respond but did your best to save yourself the embarrassment.
"Umm... It's going great. Thank you." You said quietly, deciding to let it go.
"Y/n, I’ve actually been thinking about going there too," Wheezie emphasized your name with a sugary, sweet smile. “You know, when the time comes,” she adds casually, peering out of the corner of her eye at Ward as she swirled some pasta on her fork. She was waiting for her father to correct his mistake, but to her surprise, nothing came.
"Really? That’s amazing, Wheez. You should come out for a visit soon, and I can show you all our favorite spots.” You told her, picking up your wine glass to take a small sip. That’s when you heard Ward scoff, making you look in his direction. “She’s a child,” Ward rasped, followed by a mocking laugh. ”What are you gonna do? Take her to a bar?” His words were cold underneath a fake smile.
The confused look on your face said it all as you replied to him. “Obviously not,” You laugh him off, taking a similar tone towards him. Did he really think you’d take a 13-year-old to a bar? “There are some great restaurants, fun coffee shops, and a few cute little boutiques I’d love to take you to.” You said, focusing your attention back over on Wheezie.
Her smile brightened at your words, giving you an excited nod to her head. You turn your focus back to the head of the table, watching as Ward throws back the rest of his first glass of wine. It vibrated against the table as he slammed it down, gesturing to Rose with his other hand. As if he needed another. “Well, I’m hopin’ your grades are better than his,” Ward mumbled, cutting off Rose’s pour, three fingers from the top of the glass.
“I have good grades, but I’m not sure what you mean by that. Rafe’s grades are great.” You told him, your hand squeezing your boyfriend’s leg supportively under the table. You watched as Ward raised an eyebrow, his lips pursing around the wine glass before he set it down.
“He’s not on Academic Probation anymore? How many chapters did I miss?” Ward snickered cruelly as he matched Rafe’s eyes and yours. His words were harsh and cutting as he tried his best to embarrass his son in front of everyone. If one were to ask if Ward had any regrets, the only one he had would be not having a bigger audience to humiliate his eldest child.
"Uh, no. Not since the first year,” Rafe responded, his voice breaking slightly with anger as he spoke up. His blue irises flashed darker, meeting his father’s gaze as the man gave him a smirk. ”Real proud of you, son. Didn’t think you had it in you,” Ward drawled out in a thick southern accent laced with nothing but hate.
“You and your family gonna be alright tonight? Gettin’ pretty close to The Cut,” Ward asks as he slides his spoon across his tongue to cover the slight grin he’s holding back, taking a bite of crème brûlée. Gettin’ pretty close to The Cut… He means that in more ways than one— physically close, just a bay separating the two. Financially close as well, new money and a new family business, skirting the line between Kook and Pogue; still enough coin to pay for a membership at the Island Club.
Rafe knew precisely what he meant, Ward’s wicked double-entendre conjuring up fury. Calling you the wrong name was the first thing that had pissed him off; now his father was being rude to you just for the hell of it, and that was a whole other thing on its own. It was only a matter of time before he absolutely lost it.
"So, Alexis, what’s your brother up to these days-”
"Jesus Christ, Dad... Her name is y/n..." Rafe snapped, banging his giant fists against the table, the delicate china clattering and clanging on the flat surface. Ward chuckled at his son’s outburst, knowing he was the reason for it.
"Sorry, son. I can't keep all your girlfriends straight," He laughed before turning to you. "You don't mind if I just call you Alexis? Do you, sweetheart?" He slurs, a sly smirk on his lips.
"I do.” You reply quietly, trying your best not to cry from humiliation. He was just being an ass, but everyone's eyes on you were making you very uneasy. You looked down at your half-eaten dessert, your appetite suddenly gone. Rafe took one look at you and shook his head.
"Alright... I think we are good. Are you good, sweetheart?" Rafe asked, already knowing the answer. He stood up abruptly, reaching for your hand. His other rips the bottle of wine off the table and passes it to you before snagging the crème brûlée as Ward reaches for seconds.
"M’takin’ her home and I’m leavin’ in the mornin’,” Rafe spat. “By the way, Dad, why don’t you stop drinkin’? Huh? You’re not gonna be good for shit if I gotta protect your ass too, fuckin’ pussy.” Ward was seething, wasting no time in grabbing Rafe by the shirt, pulling him down to meet his cold, dead eyes.
“The hell did you just call me, boy?” His voice was low as he twisted the fabric tighter in his hand.
“Called you a fuckin’ pussy,” Rafe responded with a level tone, not letting his nerves get the best of him. Ward’s face fell as he let him go, only to push him back towards the wall—Rafe bumped into the decorative table, sending one of Rose’s ornate vases crashing to the floor.
Rafe took a long drink from the wine bottle, just waiting for another storm of insults that would surely fly from Ward’s mouth. The vase was shattered all over the hardwood, the table quiet as everyone felt the tension thick in the air. Taking a breath, the older man hung his head in exhaustion for his disappointment of a son. This was a regular occurrence for the tumultuous pair, and Rafe’s voice was eerily calm again when he turned to his stepmother.
“Thanks for dinner. I’ll clean that up when I get back,” Rafe mumbles, his head nodding over to messy ground. Rose, who didn’t want to set her husband or stepson off even more, just gave him a soft nod and a weak smile.
“Hurry back,” Wheezie blurts out, not wanting her older brother to be out after the sirens called. She was about to say something else when her father interrupted her.
“If you’re not back here in an hour, m’locking the damn gate, Rafe,” Ward warned. ”You know I have no problem lettin’ you stay out there all night.” He hissed. You gave Ward a look of disgust, unable to hide it at the lack of emotion he carried for Rafe. You saw his eyes quickly meet yours, watching his lip twitch slightly. His gaze softened, holding a tiny fraction of remorse from the fact you saw just how awful he treated his own blood.
Tumblr media
Fifteen minutes to your house, fifteen minutes back, leaving you thirty minutes to spare. "Wine?" You asked sweetly, passing your boyfriend the bottle by its neck.
"Please. Definitely need it after that shit show.” He exhaled, wishing he had something stronger. He took a healthy swig of the red liquid, finishing the bottle with a tipsy laugh. “Oh shit.” He chuckled dryly, tossing it in the back of the truck as you glanced back at him, his cerulean eyes met yours in a glassy stare.
"Fuck, y/n, that was embarrassing," he pushed out as he drummed his blunt nails against the steering wheel. "I've been lookin‘ forward to you meetin’ them for a while, and - and my dad always finds a way to mess it up." He stammered. You scooped up a bite of the stolen crème brûlée, feeding him. Rafe groaned at the taste of the decadent dessert making you giggle, the sound easing his sour mood for a moment. “We will never be like that,” he sighed, tone serious as his striking blue eyes bored into you deeply.
“Never.”
You knew Rafe was running high on many emotions. All he ever wanted was his father’s approval; deep down, he knew he would never receive it. Though the moment was sad, hearing him talking about the future with you brought some sense of peace. You knew his parents couldn’t care less, and you could only hope and pray, that didn’t make him have any second thoughts about the two of you. The feeling of the spoon slipping from your hand pulled you from your thoughts as Rafe now had it to get another bite. “So ready for this night to be over with.”
You let out a sigh, looking down at your lap before back up to your handsome boyfriend. “Neither can I, baby. Neither can I…” You said, your nerves setting in all over again. Rafe could read you, deciding to lean in and place a kiss on your lips for reassurance. He cupped the back of your neck, pulling you in close as his tongue played with yours. He was kissing you as if it would be the last time, but he would never utter those words out loud. Pulling back slowly, he rested his forehead against yours. “Drive home safe, Rafe.”
“Promise, princess,” he said, his voice vibrating against your mouth before kissing you once more. “I love you.”
“I love you too, baby.” Your voice is barely a whisper as you hold onto him for a few seconds longer than usual before getting out of his parked truck and heading to your house.
Tumblr media
You look out your window, staring across the shimmering water of the bay. It’s quiet— calm. But that won’t last for long. Soon, both sides of the Island rise. The TV glows in your bedroom, illuminating the space around you as the news continues to run story after story from the years before, scaring some and inspiring most.
You wrap your blanket tighter around your shoulders, snuggling into your pillows as you wait for the announcement. Rafe hasn’t called yet or answered; I just hope he made it back to Tanneyhill okay.
“This is not a test.”
Your heart falls into your stomach; your body breaking out in a cold sweat as you hear those five words you’ve been waiting for. Your eyes shift away from the window as you take in the words on your screen.
“This is your emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the Annual Purge, sanctioned by the U.S. Government. Commencing at the siren, any and all crime, including murder, will be legal for 12 continuous hours. Weapons of class 4 and lower have been authorized for use during the Purge. All other weapons are restricted. Police, fire, and emergency medical services will be unavailable until tomorrow morning at 7 am. And, for the first time since its inception, no one has been granted special immunity from the Purge. No citizen or group will be exempt. Blessed be our New Founding Fathers and America, a nation reborn.”
The siren blares making the hair on the back of your neck stand straight; the blood in your frozen body runs cold.
“May God be with you all.”
Tumblr media
His eyes widen on yours, breaking away in disbelief, staring down at nothing but the handle of the blade. The knife was lodged deep in his stomach, your mind dizzy as Ward gasped for breath.
You never thought you’d be one to actually do it. The night was already dangerous, and here you were, back at the infamous Tannyhill amid the mist of chaos. It was your right, though, and he was why you were doing this in the first place. Seeing the way he could no longer spit those venomous out or give you a look of intimidation made you hold such power over him. This was giving you an indescribable high to see him almost silently pleading with you despite it being too late.
You were doing the world a favor, and oh my god, the gasp he let out made you realize this was really happening. Yanking the blade free, you watched as he stumbled back. Ward tripped over the hallway rug, his body falling onto the ground with a loud thud. The house was quiet except for the sounds of Ward fighting for air, his hands reaching out for anything to help pull him away from you.
He couldn’t survive. If he found out it was you, it would be over, everything… And that couldn’t happen.
Stepping towards him, you sank to your knees and looked into his eyes. The purple LED lights on your mask reflected in his reading glasses, his eyes behind it leaking with pathetic tears. Fucking pussy. You didn’t think you had it in you, lifting the knife above your head without any tremble to your hands.
“This is for Rafe.” You bring it down, stabbing him in the heart, sealing his fate. The strike was brutal, and you could swear you felt the tip of the sharp blade pierce into the hardwood floor. Blood covered the hall, the fight over as his body grew still beneath you. You waited, his chest no longer rising as you watched him lay there, now lifeless. Forcing the knife out, you took a deep breath and rolled your neck to release the tension of the night. The nerves, the anxiety, all of it put to rest as you rid the world of this evil man.
You and Rafe would never truly be happy if Ward was around to ruin every moment. You knew every family event or special occasion would be tarnished just like it was tonight. Not only that, but the cutting words, scarring digs, and emotional abuse he let his son suffer. You couldn’t stand to hear him or see him treat the man you loved this way anymore. That dinner earlier was the last time he got to make Rafe feel that way ever again.
Lifting up your mask, you let your emotions go as you laughed at his now vacant body. “Fuck you, Ward.” You spat, only to feel your heart skip a beat as the sound of a familiar collar jangled down the long hallway. Your stomach dropped, the realization that you had been in the house too long and caught the attention of Penny. If Ward had been scanning the house, there was no way that Rafe wasn’t doing the same thing. You could only hope he was in the safe room with Rose and Wheezie.
You rose to your feet, seeing the golden retriever trot towards you a little faster as she recognized your scent through the disguise. Leaning down, you carefully scratched her fury ear and whispered. “I’ll see you in the morning, Penny girl.”
The sound of a deep voice made that sinking feeling come back to your lower belly. “You hear somethin’, girl?” Rafe’s booming tone, not even trying to be quiet as his large shadow stands at the end of the hallway.
Fuck.
No… No…
You took two steps backward, clutching the knife in your shaky hand as he took two large strides forward. Turning around, you sprinted towards the door and downstairs. You ran past the living room, ignoring the thought that you had been snuggling there only a few hours earlier. His steps grew louder, and his voice echoed through the mansion as he yelled, “STOP!”
Your lungs were burning as you looked over your shoulders you tore out onto the trimmed front lawn. Your own boyfriend, on your heels, making you hold back a scream as you made a shot for the thick trees on the other side of the house. It offered you a place to hide and catch your breath as your rapid heartbeat rang through your ears. You found yourself crawling next to a tree, the pure darkness, your only hope of survival as you tried to stay out of sight. You tore off your mask, quieting your breathing as you hid with the palm of your blood soaked hand.
You listened to his heavy footsteps fading fast. You took a minute to think, knowing you couldn’t go back to the front of Tannyhill without being seen. The barn... You would wait it out there for the night to get the heat off of you and then find a way out. You’d clean up and come back to console Rafe. Making sure the lights on your mask were off, you tugged it back on your face and stood up.
The North Carolina night was warm, making you feel sticky as dirt and blood caked your skin. You made your way through the dark woods until the small white barn came into view. You looked at it, your mind racing with different scenarios. What if he called? What if he decided to leave and saw that your car was parked down the road? What if he finds you? Would he kill for what you did?
Slipping into the bar, you followed the beacon of light pouring down from above. Your feet creaked along the old rigid floor as you made your way over to the ladder. You climbed until you couldn’t, taking a small, tired huff. You felt a little better until you realized you had left your knife behind. If Rafe had come across that, it would have been over, and now it was just another thing that you would have to figure out later. If there was a later anyway…
You crawled over to the corner of the upstairs loft, looking down out of the small window. It was an eerie scene as your eyes studied the surroundings below: a couple of four-wheelers, a dirt bike, and two covered cars. You shivered, reaching for the tarp beside you, pulling it over to hide yourself, just in case.
CREAK.
Your eyes shot open, making your head peer out from behind the blue tarp. You froze in horror as Rafe stepped through the open door, his large silhouette and crystal eyes shining into the room. He took a breath before letting out a frustrated growl. “I KNOW YOU ARE IN HERE!” He screamed, the anger and sadness evident in his tone. You brought a hand to your mouth, eyes squeezing shut as his footsteps moved throughout the space.
You watched his every movement as he walked across the loft floor, getting closer to you. His heavy and erratic breathing filled the once-silent space making your heart race as he stepped close enough for you to catch something shiny. You let out a small gasp, seeing the same knife you’d used to kill his own father. The wood creaked underneath his weight as if he heard the noise you let out. You shut your eyes once more, pleading with him in your mind to just go away. You had to hold onto hope for the miracle that he would give up, and you could see him in the morning without having to explain this situation. That was if he would let you explain.
When you thought things were quiet enough to take a peek, you slowly opened your teary eyes only to meet the very ones of the man you loved. His hand wrapped around your throat before you said anything, his grip strong enough to lift you off your feet effortlessly. He squeezes, shoving you into the hard wall. You couldn’t die at the hands of your boyfriend. You weren’t ready, your voice coming out in a pitiful squeak as the tears flowed underneath your mask. “Please stop.”
His hand twists his hand in your hair, his eyes widening as he recognizes those silky strands. He immediately pulls the mask away from your face, his emotion changing. “Y/N?” He asked, looking at you as he calmed his breathing. You heard the knife drop to the ground with a clang before you listened to the sweet name he always called you. “Princess…”
“I’m sorry.” You whispered, avoiding his gaze until you felt him cup your cheek. The pad of this thumb ran across your soft skin, which you instantly leaned into. He leaned down, pressing his lips against yours in a deep kiss. You whimpered against him, the terror you had been feeling now washing away. You could feel him smile against your lips; a grin on his face as he pulled back to look down at you.
“You beat me to it.” He spoke in a hushed voice as he watched your eyebrows come together in confusion.
“I… I beat you to it?” You stuttered, earning a chuckle in response from Rafe.
He nodded with a hum as his hand reached up to run through your hair. “Mmhm.. I’m guessin’ you did this for me? That right?” He asked, his other hand holding up the mask you once had on. You looked at it, almost afraid to admit anything.
There was no lying to him, though; you let your head fall as you took a shaky breath. “Yes. I couldn’t stand the fact of him being here another day.” You said, meeting his eyes as carefully looked up at him.
Rafe studied you briefly before his raspy voice spoke out into the darkness. “You’ve been thinking about it for a while. Haven’t you?” He asked, watching as you nodded in silence.
“I have.” You whispered, still unsure if this was set up.
It was him murmuring ‘me too,’ his hands squeezing your hips that you knew he was being genuine. “You should have told me baby. We could have done it together. Huh?” He smirked, his fingertips coming to the button of your dark jeans. Something about you taking his father’s life for him so that he no longer had to deal with the pain and suffering the man caused him had him feral. He didn’t know you would be the one he caught; his family had a lot of enemies, after all. Knowing it was, you had him feeling an entirely different way.
He moved his hand from your pants, coming to his own crisp white shirt to pull off. His toned upper body gleamed under the moonlight shining from the window. You couldn’t help but reach out and touch him, your bloody manicured nails tracing over his broad chest and down to where you could pop the button of his pants open. You heard his breath hitch as you reached even further, giving his hard-on a squeeze. He let out a breathless laugh, pulling you in for one last kiss before he turned you to face the wall. He pressed against you from behind, his hands yanking down your jeans and panties in one go. You step out of them, the heat growing more in your lower tummy.
“Co’mere.” He rasped, leading you to the tarp you had once been hiding under. He pulls you down with him, straddling his lap as he works to remove the thin shirt you wore. You reach down into his boxers to pull his hard length out, the fat head soon poking your drooling hole. You feel the burn as he stretches you out, your pretty cries echoing through the barn. You were so full of him, taking all of him as he glided into your soaked core.
“Holy fuck… Rafe!” You gasped, your nails digging into his chest as your head spun with pleasure and adrenaline. Even the way you felt after killing Ward felt nothing compared to the way Rafe made you feel. His eyes looked up at you as he worked you along his body, cock filling you up in the best way.
“You’re so perfect. Yeah? Don’t forget that. My goddamn girl, princess. Fuck. You’re mine.” His voice was like velvet as he reached between the two of you to rub your sweet little pearl in circles.
You were a mess, involuntary clenching around him as you rode him. He let out a groan, watching those pretty tits bounce each time you came down. “You feel so fuckin’ good. Oh my god, baby…” He grunted under the sounds of your skin slapping against his. You were high on all of this, euphoria running through you as you lifted yourself off of him just to come back down with a slam.
“Yeah? You like the way I feel wrapped around you?” You bit at him, taking one of your hands and wrapping it around his throat. You watched as his eyes rolled back while you squeezed, his head tilting back in pleasure. His thick digits on one hand continued the torture on your clit while the other grabbed one of your plush tits.
As much as Rafe loved for you to take control, he couldn’t help but reel you back by rolling you over to be on top. He slams back into you, watching your mouth fall at the sudden change in position. His long cock hits your sweet spot, making you arch your back off the tarp. “Hold still, princess.” He mumbled, gripping the back of your thighs to bring them higher. He spreads you open, nearly folding you in two as his toned hips thrust into you.
“Fuck Rafe!” You squeal, eyes looking at the space between you. The light illuminating through the small loft window reflected off his abs, flexing as he pounded into you. His thick cock shiny with arousal as it rammed into you.
“You know I gotta take charge. Can’t fucking help it when you got a pussy like this, sweetheart. Can you take a little more for me, baby?” He breathed out, watching as you nodded the best you could as you grew closer to your climax. “Mphff? You deserve it, baby. I swear you do.” Rafe says, hooking your legs over his shoulders and letting you take his pounding.
You clawed at him, whining, leaving your babbling mouth as you drew closer to exploding. The heat in your stomach was about to burst, and your thighs quivered. “M’gonna cum.” You mumbled out, your chest breaking out in a flush.
His rough fingers found your clit once more, bringing you to the edge as he rubbed it just enough for you to let go. Clutching at his broad shoulders, you cry out and let him bury his face in your neck as he relentlessly drilled into you. “Gonna fuckin’ cum in this pretty pussy.” He gritted out, his mouth constantly growing more filthy the closer he got.
“Need your cum inside me. Please give it to me.” You begged, breath still short as you were barely off your high.
“Yeah, Princess? You need it? Fuck, you need my cum?”
“Cum in my fucking pussy, Rafe.” His eyes rolled back at the sound of your voice. You felt this cock start to swell and throb inside of you, his groans vibrating off of you as heavy loads of warm spent filled your walls. You whimper softly, his head pulling back only to meet you for a kiss.
He took a few before slowly pulling out, his eyes heavy as he watched his seed slowly spill out of you. It was quite the sight and feeling to have came inside you for the first time on the same night you killed his father. He can’t help but travel his hand down, pushing the sticky liquid back into your swollen hole with a smile. “Fuck.. I love you.” His voice hoarse as he admired all of you.
You let out a quiet giggle, the feeling of being full of him making you satisfied. Grabbing his wrist you lifted his hand to your mouth, sucking on Rafe’s big fingers dripping with his cum and yours, before letting them go with a pop. “I love you too, baby.” You said softly.
“You’d do anything for me, wouldn’t you?” He asked, his facial expression turning more serious as if he needed reassurance.
Without any hesitation, you sat up and wrapped your hand around his bare bicep. “Anything.” You whispered, and you meant that.
A wicked grin spread across his face as soon as he heard that. He looked out at the still-dark sky and hummed in thought. “You know it’s still early. Wanna take the dirt bike and get out of here? I bet we can have some fun.” He said, glancing back at you.
“You have a mask?” You asked curiously. Were you and Rafe really about to go out and Purge? Reaching over to his discarded jeans, he pulled out a black ski mask from the back pocket. He ran a hand over his sweaty bangs, pushing them back to tug the material over his handsome face. His ocean eyes shined through, the same devilish smile on his face.
“What do you say, princess?”

Tumblr media
♡ Characters: Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, gn!reader ♡ Warnings: Fluff, comedic obsession, feral affection, dumb boy behavior, light possessiveness (Inosuke) ♡ Notes: Just some silly, sweet headcanons about the boys crushing so hard it’s embarrassing. I love them. That’s it. Hashiras next?
𓏸⋆。˚☁️˚。⋆𓏸
🐉 Tanjiro Kamado
He tries so hard to act normal around you but accidentally zones out when you’re talking because he’s just... staring at you
With sparkly puppy eyes
“Wait, sorry—could you say that again? You just… looked really peaceful for a second.”
Trains twice as hard after you compliment him once
“You’re really strong, Tanjiro!”
Now he’s fighting boulders in the rain like it’s a romantic training montage
When you’re sick or hurt, he goes into Big Brother Mode™
Becomes your unpaid live-in nurse
Brings you soup, tucks you in, will NOT let you lift a finger
Keeps trying to bake you things
He’s not very good at it, but he’s determined
One day he shows up with slightly burnt mochi and big hopeful eyes
“It’s not too hard, right? You can still chew it?”
Has 100% memorized the exact way you laugh
Hears it across camp and turns like a sunflower to the sun
Writes your name in the dirt with a stick and immediately blushes and erases it
But does it again the next day
One of the only people who listens when you talk about small stuff
“I like plum blossoms” you had said once absentmindedly
Two weeks later he hands you a hairpin carved from plum wood
Will not realize you like him back unless you spell it out
You could kiss him and he’d be like :3
“They must be really affectionate! Wait—”
The second you confirm you like him too?
He gets so flustered he almost forgets to breathe
Smiles so bright he practically glows
“I’ll protect you with everything I have.”
♡。゚☁︎。♡゚
You’re exhausted, a little scraped up, and trying to insist you’re fine. Tanjiro isn’t having it.
“No, sit. Please.” His brows are furrowed, voice gentle but firm as he presses a cool cloth to your forehead. “You always take care of everyone else. Let me do this.”
You try to argue, but he hushes you with a soft smile—barely there, but warm.
“I’ll feel better if you just rest,” he adds, almost shy. “And… I like being near you like this.”
Your heart skips. His ears go pink. And still, his hands are steady.
⚡ Zenitsu Agatsuma
Falls hard, fast, and dramatically.
Sees you once and is already crying under a tree writing your names together in the bark
Tries to make himself look cool when you’re around
Which means he’s striking weird poses and talking in an unnatural deep voice that immediately breaks into a squeak
Panics if you sit next to him
Like full-body tremble, face-bright-red
“Stay cool stay cool stay cool”
He definitely does not stay cool
Will fight a mountain if you say you’re cold
“I’LL FIND FIREWOOD! I’LL STEAL THE SUN IF I HAVE TO!!”
Writes love letters to you in his notebook
Never sends them
If you ever found them?
He would die
Literally disintegrate on the spot
Whenever you do something kind for him—tie a bandage, give him food—he goes silent and then bursts into tears
“YOU’RE SO NICE TO ME I’M NOT WORTHY”
Overanalyzes everything you do
“They touched my shoulder. That means we’re married, right?”
Surprisingly good at noticing when you’re down
Will act like a complete fool if it means he gets to hear you laugh
If you like him back?
You are his everything
He will cry
He will train harder
He will whisper about you to birds
“I’ll become someone worthy of them!”
♡。゚☁︎。♡゚
You’re patching him up again—knees scuffed, robe ripped, crying about something and nothing. He sniffles, watching you wrap the bandage with careful fingers.
“You always treat me like I matter,” he whispers, voice wobbling. “Even when I’m a coward. Even when I mess up.”
You blink, and before you can answer, he grabs your hands in his.
“I’ll get stronger,” he swears. “For you. So I can protect you like you deserve.”
Then his nose starts bleeding.
You sigh. He swoons. It’s a whole thing.
🐗 Inosuke Hashibira
The moment he realizes he likes you?
That’s it
You're his person now
No angst
No confusion
“YOU’RE MINE!!”
Tries to court you the only way he knows how
Backflips into rivers, headbutts trees, fights two boars just to flex
“LOOK, LOOK, I’M FAST. I’M STRONG. YOU LIKE STRONG, RIGHT??”
Brings you “gifts”
Like a wrench, a door hinge, a rock shaped like a potato
“IT’S SHINY. IT’S COOL. KEEP IT.”
Doesn’t understand boundaries
Will sit next to you while you’re eating, sleeping, brushing your teeth
“IF I’M NOT NEAR YOU, HOW WILL YOU SEE HOW AMAZING I AM???”
When you confess?
He just nods, like it confirms what he already knew
“OBVIOUSLY YOU LIKE ME. I’M THE BEST. COME WATCH ME PUNCH THIS TREE IN YOUR HONOR.”
Immediately starts calling you his
Loudly
“THEY’RE MINE. BACK OFF OR I’LL BITE YOU.”
Will 100% fight Zenitsu daily to assert mating dominance
“YOU STAY AWAY. I SAW THEM FIRST. I HAVE CLAIMED THEM ALREADY.”
♡。゚☁︎。♡゚
You help him pull a splinter from his hand. That’s it. That’s all it takes.
The next morning, he’s sitting at your side like a feral cat who’s decided you’re family now.
“You fixed my hand,” he grunts. “That means you’re mine.”
You laugh. He scowls. “I’m serious! You belong in my pack now. Don’t wander off.”
He follows you everywhere. Drops random things in your lap. Fights Zenitsu twice before breakfast.
When you finally ask why he’s acting like a territorial forest spirit, he puffs out his chest and says:
“Because you’re important. Duh.”

trying to go to bed mad at Carmen but he’s just not having it LMFAO i just love him with a grumpy gf :(((
You’d like to blame him for it, just because he was short with you this morning. Stressed about a food critic coming to The Bear this weekend, he’s been on edge, losing sleep, and this morning was just one of those days it was getting to him: dodging your affection, hurrying out of bed, disjointed conversations he doesn’t try too hard to be a part of.
It’s not entirely his fault, and you know this, but it doesn’t make it hurt any less, to be put to the side for even a day to make room for that colder edge to him when he gets zoned in.
So you give yourself the liberty to be a little bit shitty, too, just for the night.
You don’t greet him like you usually do, with a deep kiss hello and your hands squeezing at his sore muscles, offering to massage the knots in his shoulders. Instead you sit on the couch reading your book and offer him a fleeting glance. He pauses at the difference, but carries on.
You wait until long after he’s showered to get up. He even pops back into the living room beforehand, shorts hanging low in his waist, to call for you:
“You comin’ to bed?”
“Soon,” you tell him, which could be true, but not definite.
“Okay,” he sighs, coming behind you with a hand on your shoulder and a kiss to the opposite cheek.
You don’t give in, though, and he heads off to the bedroom.
You do join him eventually—almost an hour later, when you’re so tired that it’ll make you even more of a pain to deal with. He’s in the middle of fighting off sleep, trying to stay awake to make sure you come to bed with him, but as much as that makes your chest yearn for him, you plop down in bed a foot away and turn your back to him.
Behind you now, he shuffles to sit up. “Hey,” he tries, a soothing hand on your shoulder, “You alright, baby?”
No response.
Scooting a little closer to lean over and see your face, he brushes hair out of the way to press a kiss to your temple. “C’mon, talk t’me.”
But you turn away from his touch, and he scoffs.
“What, you mad at me now?” He watches you expectantly. “Not even gonna tell me what I did?”
“You didn’t do anything, Carmen,” you mumble, face muffled into your blanket.
“Wh—baby, don’t be like that right now—”
“Be like what?” you snap, sitting up and turning to look at him. “I’m sorry that my needs don’t align with your work schedule. Just let me know when it’d be best to reach you next time.” And with that, you drop back into bed, moving just a little further away from him.
He nearly laughs, then, real subtle with a hand rubbing his eyes and forehead because he knows you, he knows how you get when you miss him. He turns back onto his side with a groan and reaches his hand upon your waist, smoothing beneath the fabric of your shirt.
“Don’t touch me,” you spit, but you don’t dare move his hand away: it feels so much better this way, getting the touch he didn’t give you this morning.
“You’re bein’ mean today. You all cranky ‘cause you miss me, ‘s that it?”
You don’t answer.
“C’mon,” he urges you, shuffling closer so that his arm wraps fully around your waist and his face can bury into your neck with a kiss to your smooth skin. “‘M sorry for bein’ shitty this morning.” Instinctively, he draws a hand up your tummy, right beneath your breasts. “Missed you all day, y’know that?”
“Just leave me alone, Carm, I’m serious.”
“‘M really sorry about this morning, baby.” Pressing kisses to your neck, he takes a deep breath to sink into you. “After that guy comes, it’ll be over with, and I’ll take a couple days off, alright?”
“I don’t care, do what you want.”
He sighs, deep and gravelly and frustrated with your antics—but more so frustrated with himself. He has been shitty this week, he knows it, and he knows you especially don’t deserve it. “C’mon, hon, you’re killin’ me here, at least—at least gimme a kiss goodnight, huh?”
But you don’t. Because of course you don’t, he’s on you’re fuckin’ nerves with his distance lately—but this, his rough hands against your skin, his pleading, his groveling like he can’t imagine a world without you…it helps.
A little.
Not quite enough to cave or give in, though.
He seems to lose a bit of strength against you, laying into the mattress on his back again with a sigh and an arm resting over his eyes. The room stills, the fan whirrs, yet the tension between you is thick enough yet to slice through it with his chef’s knife.
That is, until his arms wrap around you again, and his hands grip your waist tight, and he lets out a grunt of a Can’t believe you’re makin’ me do this, and he wrangles you on top of him, leaving you chest to chest, with your face nuzzled into the crook of his neck and his hand rubbing soothing patterns up and down your back while the other holds you steady, worried you’ll slither away again.
Like he knew it would, the tension in your body dissolves. And maybe that’s what you wanted anyway, but you’d never tell him that—at least, not until tomorrow morning.
The room stills again. The hand smoothing along your back sneaks beneath your shirt, and you melt that much quicker. It’s hypnotic, his rough palms against your soft skin, scratches an itch you didn’t know was there until he wasn’t. He smells crisply clean and of the body wash he buys because you like the scent, a little musky with aldehydes and vetiver and sandalwood.
“This better, baby?” he murmurs, lending a careful kiss to your head.
But you only bury yourself further into him and answer with “Mm.”
He chuckles a bit, squeezes you tighter to make your heart throb. “Thought you’d say somethin’ like that.” Punctuates it with more kisses where he can reach, because now that he’s got you tethered to him again, he doesn’t think he could let you go.
The two of you stay where you are, then, just soaking in the other’s presence with wordless appreciation exchanged, growing heavier with sleep as heartbeats sync and eyelids slip closed. And by morning, legs will be intertwined, and Carmen will pull you from a groggy daze with a kiss to your lips, and you’ll be a little less bitter when he heads off to work.
(He knows it’ll simmer till he comes home, but if he gets to sleep with your weight and your warmth again, he’s sure it’ll be alright.)

word count: 4k

“Nance, if you think I’m wearing that, you’ve lost your damn mind,” you mutter with utmost distaste.
The brunette peeks her head around the package she’s holding to give you a small pout, the other hand resting on her hip.
“Oh come on, live a little!” She sighs, putting the sexy nurse costume back onto the rack. “There is no way I am letting you sulk on your couch again this year.”
You roll your eyes but continue browsing the costumes, each one more revealing than the last. You didn’t mind spending your Halloween night curled up on the sofa with a scary movie, you were more comfortable that way.
Besides you weren’t normally invited to such gatherings, even if you did want to go. Tina only seemed to invite you out of obligation, not because she wanted you there.
“Well…maybe I won’t be spending it alone,” you mumble and her brow quirks up.
“Oh, are you and Eddie doing something?” she prods.
But your shoulders sag a little, unable to hide your disappointment when you shake your head.
“I mean, he hasn’t asked me…yet.”
You continue to flick through the costumes, now too consumed in your own thoughts.
It has been a week since he kissed you on the football field—and it’s still the only thing you can think about.
The warm press of his mouth against yours, breathes mingling together in the chill autumn air. The way his strong hands encircled your waist, brushing up against the cool skin of your cheek. The memory sends a delightful shiver down your spine, despite the suffocating warmth of the small costume shop.
“Okay,” Nancy says with finality, abruptly interrupting your daydream. She nods her head in satisfaction. “Okay, this is the one!”
She thrusts a costume into your awaiting arms. Once you catch a glimpse of it, you blanch before immediately shaking your head and giving it back.
“And you’re actually insane, Nance.”
She rolls her eyes, but shoves it back into your arms anyway.
“Oh, come on, isn’t the whole point of Halloween to dress up? Go outside your comfort zone?”
You glance down from her encouraging gaze to the costume in your hands. A woman with flowing blonde hair is smiling back at you, a black and white corset hugging her curves in all the right places.
But it’s the pair of bunny ears perched atop her head and the white cotton tail attached to the backside of the costume that somehow makes you feel more insecure.
“I am not dressing up as a pornstar—”
Nancy all but slaps a hand over your mouth to stop your hysterical shriek. A mother with her young son gives you both a distasteful look as they pass, the tips of your ears warming in embarrassment as you tuck the costume behind your back.
“It’s not a pornstar costume,” she quips with a lowered voice. “It’s a Playboy Bunny.”
You give her a look, blowing out an exasperated breath.
“As if they aren’t the same thing?”
By some miracle you manage to walk out of that shop a half hour later. Nancy’s promise of burgers and milkshakes fuel your last minute costume decision. But as you both descend onto Main Street, leaves crunching beneath your boots, you can’t help but feel like everyone is staring at you.
It’s as if they can see that damned bunny costume hidden beneath the dark plastic bag, the contents weighing you down with each step you take towards Nancy’s station wagon.
Tumblr media
Twenty minutes.
It’s been twenty minutes since he’s been kept waiting, and Eddie’s patience is finally beginning to run out. But the snap of a branch catches his attention, eyes darting to the trees ahead.
Eddie is more than confused when he realizes the regular he was supposed to be meeting had bailed on him. And the person that emerges from the line of trees is none other than Nancy Wheeler.
He quickly shuts the metal lunchbox as she approaches, taking a seat on the bench opposite of him, determination clear on her features.
“Uh…are you lost, Wheeler?”
“No,” she states flatly, swinging the other leg over the bench seat. “You’re just the guy I’ve been looking for.”
He scratches at the stubble on his jaw, fingers tapping against the worn wood of the table. Eddie has seen a lot of odd things in his twenty years of life, but Nancy Wheeler making a drug deal was not something he ever expected.
He glances at her warily when she folds her hands on the table, looking far too prim and proper to be sitting out here with him and his lunchbox full of weed.
“Well, how can I be of service then, Wheeler?” he tilts his head towards the metal box, but she holds his gaze regardless.
“I have a proposition for you.”
He can’t help but snort, already beginning to shake his head.
“Okay, I don’t know what rumors you've heard Wheeler, but the only type of payment I accept is cold hard cash.”
And from the look of almost horror that crosses over her features, he instantly realizes he’s misread this entire situation.
“Oh god, I’m not here for a drug deal, Munson!”
It’s silent for a beat, neither of them daring to look at the other out of sheer embarrassment.
“So, why are you here, Nancy?” he asks quietly.
Her eyes flick up to look at him again, noting the splotches of pink rising up the skin of his neck.
“Tina’s party on Friday,” she starts, tucking a loose curl behind her ear.
His shoulders sag a little at her answer, arching a brow in her direction. He only can assume someone put her up to this, one of her more popular friends not wanting to be caught dead with the likes of him. Well, unless they need someone to supply the weed.
Nonetheless, a part of him can’t help but admit he’s a little intrigued.
“What about it?”
Nancy flashes him a look before continuing.
“There’s a certain someone that’s going to be in attendance…” she trails, biting back a smile when he instantly perks up. “And I think she would really want you to be there.”
Eddie’s cheeks flush a rosy pink, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. While he had thought about going to try and make some extra cash, he wasn’t exactly sold on the idea.
A costume party filled with a bunch of drunken idiots that hated his guts sounded like a goddamn nightmare. But knowing that you were going to be there? Well, that changed things drastically.
“I’ll be there,” he asserts.
Nancy is a little taken aback but happily surprised by his quick response. In her own way this was also a small test. A test to see if Eddie really liked you as much as you claimed he did. And she had gotten her answer.
“Well, great!” she says, flashing him a polite smile and rising to her feet. “Be there by 10 o’clock sharp, and don’t forget to wear a costume!”
Eddie doesn't have a chance to reply before Nancy turns on her heel and disappears back through the trees.

Friday has finally come.
And your stomach twists with every step you take toward the large house, the click of your heels on the sidewalk a far more steady rhythm than the beat of your own heart. Parties had never really been your thing and the only other one you’d managed to get invited to was at Steve’s house, back when he and Nancy were still together.
So it was no surprise that you felt completely out of your element as you continued to strode up the darkened walkway. You can feel the bass pumping inside you before you even cross the threshold, wringing your hands together in a nervous manner.
The air is thick with the smell of smoke and cheap beer, throngs of your peers in scantily clad costumes stumbling past you to the makeshift dance floor. No one spares you a passing glance as you take a step deeper into the hazy room, your own eyes seeking out your best friend.
Her pale pink dress was surprisingly difficult to spot amongst the crowd, but it was Jonathan who you ended up spotting first. He looked out of place amongst the dancing teens, a dark blue suit hugging his shoulders as he leaned against the far wall of the living room. A pair of round sunglasses shielding his eyes.
The Duckie to her Andie.
Relief floods your chest as you begin to push through the crowd, the pounding bass echoing in your ears. Nancy looks surprised when she finally spots you, passing her drink to Jonathan before pulling you aside.
“Where’s the bunny costume?!” she shouts over the music, tugging at the sleeve of your cardigan.
“I couldn’t do it Nance,” you reply, wrapping your arms further around your middle. “It just wasn’t…me.”
And while you can see the clear disappointment written on her features, there’s a sparkle of understanding in her eyes.
“Well, if you’re going to be a,” she pauses to look over your ensemble in its entirety. “…librarian,” she continues, “You at least need to be a sexy one.”
And without another word she’s pulling you into the nearest bathroom. When the door clicks shut behind her, she immediately gets to work. She reaches to untuck your button down shirt from your pleated skirt, popping open the buttons one by one to reveal the swell of your breasts.
You earn a small nod of approval when she sees you actually wore the push-up bra you had bought for your original costume. The brunette gives the lower half of your shirt the same treatment before tying it off with a knot right above your navel.
Lastly, Nancy hikes your skirt up a little higher up your hips and takes a step back to admire her handiwork.
“Perfection. There’s no way Eddie’s gonna be able to resist you like this.” She grins and you feel your palms begin to sweat.
“What do you mean? Eddie’s here?!”
Suddenly it all clicks into place.
The real reason for why both her and Eddie were missing at lunch last Wednesday. Before you have a chance to question her any further, she’s fled the bathroom, her curly bob disappearing in the sea of drunken teens.
Damn her.
You take one last look in the mirror, fighting the urge to pull your cardigan tighter over your newly exposed skin when you rejoin the party. Your eyes scan the entirety of the room, in search of that tall lanky figure you’ve come to know all too well.
To your dismay, Eddie is nowhere to be found. While you knew he wouldn’t be amongst the groups of people grinding against each other in the living room, you had expected him to be tucked in a corner somewhere—observing.
You find yourself searching almost every inch of Tina’s large home and backyard, desperate to catch even a glimpse of him. And, unfortunately for you, instead of finding Eddie, you stumbled upon a couple getting hot and heavy in her parents bedroom. To which you quickly slammed the door shut and tried to scrub the image from your memory.
You take those stairs back down to the main level slowly, disappointment weighing each of your steps. There was only one place you haven’t checked yet: the kitchen. And with your terrible success rate, a drink sounds too appealing to pass up.
But once you cross through that open doorway, you stop dead in your tracks. Because there he is, in all his handsome glory—casually leaning against the kitchen counter with his arms crossed over his chest, a drink long abandoned next to him.
Has he been here this whole time?
While his expression borders on cynical, all of that shifts once your eyes meet. Eddie’s throat bobs, jaw slackening once you come into view. The set of plastic vampire fangs sitting between his teeth fall to the sticky tile floor with a soft clack.
He has to practically wipe the drool from the corner of his mouth as you approach, straightening up and trying to look at anywhere other than the swell of your breasts.
“Hi,” you breathe softly.
But his answering smile has your knees about to buckle beneath you.
“Hello to you, sweetheart.”
Only then do your eyes flick downward, towards the t-shirt adorning his broad chest. And you let out a soft snort of amusement.
This is my Halloween costume is written in dark Sharpie against the bright orange cotton. The words are slanted and messy, as if he scribbled it on in a rush. It’s barely visible beneath the lapels of his leather jacket when he crosses his arm over his chest.
He quirks a brow at you. “What? Are you not impressed?” he muses with a teasing glint in his eye. “I thought it was quite clever, if I do say so myself.”
His smile widens at the soft giggles that bubble past your lips, leaning further back against the counter before motioning to your ensemble.
“And what exactly are you supposed to be then, hm?” He chuckles, as if it isn’t obvious.
But you feel your face warm, suddenly hyper aware of every inch of bare skin that’s now exposed to him when your hands fall to your sides.
“Uh… a librarian,” you reply, trying to muster up some feigned confidence.
Eddie’s eyes darken slightly as he takes in your bare midriff, tongue gliding over his lower lip in deep thought.
“So, I take it you’ve come to reprimand me for my overdue book fines?”
Feeling slightly emboldened, you take a small step closer, lightly nibbling on your lower lip to stifle another giggle.
“I mean, rumor has it you’ve had that copy of The Hobbit checked out since your junior year…” you trail off, carefully pushing your glasses back up the bridge of your nose. “That’s an awful lot of fines, Eddie.”
“My sincerest apologies, Miss,” he grins before placing a hand over his chest, those dark eyes alight with mischief. “Is there anything I can do to remedy this…misunderstanding?”
You hum in contemplation, gently tapping a finger to your pouted lips—an action his eyes can’t help but follow.
“Hm, perhaps…” you say before glancing over your shoulder toward the crowded living room.
While dancing isn’t something you normally gravitate toward, something in you wants to try. Although it’s a silly high school milestone you never expected to experience, you don’t want it to pass you by either. Especially with Eddie by your side.
Maybe it’s the trickle of confidence that’s surging through your veins or the underlying adoration in his eyes, but either way, you reach out and lace your fingers together.
“Dance with me?”
Eddie doesn’t hesitate before he grasps onto your hand, a dimple indenting his cheek as he grins down at you.
“I’d be honored, sweetheart.”
It takes all of your self control to hold back a small squeal of excitement, quickly leading him out of the kitchen and towards the heart of the party. You’ve barely made it to the threshold before you feel it.
Warmth.
Wet, sticky warmth splashes up onto your neck, dribbles down your chin and onto your chest. Soaking into the white cotton of your shirt and sticking to your skin, the red punch does you no favors as the lace of your bra is revealed through the fabric.
“Oops,” a sickly sweet voice croons, but the unmistakable snark in their tone tells you this was anything but an accident.
Roxy Carraway just smirks at you, now glancing down at her empty cup with a mock pout. Two of her friends flank her on either side, keeping you frozen in place.
A gazelle caught between three lionesses, their claws sharpened and teeth bared.
“Now I need another drink,” she whines, snapping her gum obnoxiously. “You know, you really should watch where you’re going, freak.”
She hisses, taking one glance at you and then the male behind you before flipping her blonde hair off her shoulder and striding past you into the kitchen.
You don’t say anything as she knocks her shoulder into yours, white hot shame blazing through you as you meet the eyes of several other party goers. Whispers and snickers of laughter begin to flow through the crowd that were there to bear witness to the interaction.
No one offers you a shred of remorse or pity as they continue on, the thump of bass dragging their attention elsewhere. Tears began to sting your eyes, lower lip wobbling.
Don’t let them see you cry.
When you turn to rush toward the front door a pair of strong arms envelope you, tugging you down the darkened hallway and away from the throngs of your peers.
“Hey, hey—are you okay, sweetheart?”
Eddie’s voice is more gentle than you’ve ever heard it but a newfound rage begins to simmer beneath the warmth of his irises. When all he receives in response is a small shake of your head, he carefully tugs you both into the small bathroom you’d been shoved into earlier by Nancy.
Only this time any ounce of excitement has been drained from your limbs.
When your eyes meet your reflection, you wince, noting the harsh red liquid that clings to your shirt. The fabric suctions to you like a second skin and accentuates the curve of your breasts from the bra beneath. But not in a way that makes you feel a lick of confidence.
Before you can stare for too long, Eddie guides you to take a seat on the lid of the toilet, grabbing a washcloth and wetting it beneath the stream of water. His ringed fingers catch in the harsh lighting as he wrings the rag out into the basin of the sink. The droplets slide over the rough calluses of his fingers.
Eddie turns to you then, sinking to his knees before you. He gently nudges your thighs apart before slipping between them, the stray water droplets soaking into the fabric of your knee-high stockings. His hands are warm where they rest against your upper thigh, the other gently gliding the washcloth over your chin and down your throat.
Despite your best efforts to remain calm and collected, your breath hitches in your throat—something the male doesn’t miss.
While you can see the small smirk that threatens to tug at the corner of his mouth, he says nothing. No teasing comment as he continues to clean the dried punch from your skin.
“I’m sorry this happened,” he mutters softly, that small smile now turning downwards into a frown. “You didn’t deserve that.”
You can tell by the mournful look that spreads across his features that there’s more he wants to say, but he refrains.
That should’ve been me.
While the words remain unspoken between you, you hear them loud and clear.
“It’s not your fault you know,” you whisper, eyes dancing along the strong features of his face. Memorizing each freckle that dots along the bridge of his nose and cheekbones. “They probably would’ve found another way to torment me tonight anyway.”
His hand stills once he reaches the curve of your chest, eyes flicking up for your permission before he delves into uncharted territory. But you are unable to hide your shy smile at his display of nerves.
With your nod of approval, Eddie continues on, fingers trembling slightly when the cloth dips past the collar of your shirt. He can feel the heat of your skin through the damp fabric, his body aching to feel that warmth melting into his own.
But he keeps his composure, shifting slightly at the uncomfortable ache in his knees. You continue to watch him closely, that look of longing he’s witnessed for months now sparkling beneath your irises.
Your gaze continues to travel lower, over his cheekbones until they reach his full lips. They’re pursed in concentration, just the tip of his tongue poking out from between his teeth. He continues to glide the damp cloth along your skin, wiping away the sticky residue.
But Eddie can feel the weight of your stare. In a nervous yet teasing gesture, he glides his tongue over his lower lip.
“Would it be weird if I wanted you to kiss me right now?” you whisper.
Eddie’s eyes flick up to meet yours, fingers hovering over the dip between your breasts. He swallows harshly, your eyes following the bob of his throat. But the corner of his mouth quirks up into a soft grin that has your heart stuttering beneath your ribs.
“I thought you’d never ask,” he replies, washcloth dropping to the tile floor as he reaches to cup your cheeks.
When your lips meet, you breathe out a sigh of relief, slipping your arms around his neck to tug him impossibly closer. Despite your newfound urgency, his movements are slow, gentle as he molds his mouth over yours. Almost as if he’s trying to memorize the feeling of your lips against his own.
Your hands quickly find themselves in his wild hair, twirling the dark strands around the tips of your fingers. He groans softly when your nails scratch against his scalp, the deep rumble of it sends warmth blossoming beneath the surface of your skin.
And soon, too soon he’s pulling away.
The male is practically panting, gazing up at you with an almost dazed expression. But Eddie soon notes the small pout that’s beginning to form on your lips, leaning forward to press another tender kiss to your mouth.
“How about we ditch this lame ass party?” he mumbles against your lips, earning a small hum of approval from you.
And he can’t help but press another kiss to your awaiting mouth. “We could go to my place, maybe rent a video…” He chuckles when you pull him in for another firm kiss. “Order a pizza? Large pepperoni—”
“With olives,” you add, gently nipping his lower lip.
The male groans low in his throat, lips ghosting over the edge of your jaw.
“Half with olives,” he counters.
“Deal,” you breathe, giving him one more spine tingling kiss before he begrudgingly rises to his feet.
And when he begins to slip his jacket off his shoulders, your brows furrow in confusion, head tilting in a silent question. He just gives you a cheeky grin as he reaches to hook his fingers into the nape of his t-shirt. The male quickly pulls it over his head, his bare chest now on full display.
Before you have time to fully ogle the dark ink that swirls across his skin, he hands you the bright orange shirt. You can already feel the warmth of the fabric seeping into the palm of your hands, confusion still evident on your face whilst he shrugs the jacket back on.
“There’s no way I’m letting those assholes get the last laugh, sweetheart,” he explains, motioning to your stained shirt.
And your heart thuds at the implication, a half smile tugging at your lips. You eagerly slip the cardigan off your shoulders, reaching for the buttons on your blouse. You let out a soft giggle when Eddie quickly spins on his heel in an attempt to give you some privacy.
Once you remove the ruined blouse, you gladly toss it in the wastebasket, slipping the borrowed shirt over your head. His scent hits you like a tidal wave, warm and spicy with a slight undertone of weed. It’s a smell you want to wrap yourself up in for days, have it imprinted on your skin forever.
You take another subtle whiff before you clear your throat and rise to your feet. The movement further closes the already short distance between you.
“I’m decent,” you say finally.
You’re unable to hide your amusement when he turns around so quickly that he almost crashes straight into you. But his look of concern vanishes the moment your laughter rings in his ears, securing his arms around your waist.
“What’s so funny, sweet thing?” he chuckles, head tilting down toward you. His wandering gaze now focused on your lips.
“I thought you said we had to stop meeting like this, Eddie.”
