🤦🏻 A fanfiction/chapter you are embarrassed about having written?

Oh, well, if I told you that, it wouldn’t be anonymous, now would it? /hj But there are definitely a few I don’t feel totally comfortable having out there with my name attached. And yes, they’re spicy. And nearly all of them involve a certain academy president.

💔 Least favorite ship you have written about?

(Oh, I’m gonna get shit for this, and let me tell you how much I care: zero.) I’ve only written one piece that was really for Vincent/Lovely, and I’m not gonna get into why Vincent is not my favorite. But he’s just not. And the piece had less to do with them and more to do with what was going on with me at the time, and it’s really more about Lovely’s turning.

❤️‍🔥 Favorite ship you have written about?

*does a little dance* Obviously: Marie and Colm Greer. I love them (in case you couldn’t tell by the 81K words). I proudly gave them their backstory. And I am downright fucking GLEEFUL over that shit.

📃 Ever written something inspired by someone elses fic?

Why yes! My song “By the Lights” was directly inspired by @teafairywithabook’s fic “Feels Like Home”

⛰ Hardest fic to write?

The current one about Imperium James.

✏️ The first fanfiction you ever wrote? (doesn’t have to be a posted fic)

I’m not sure which came first, but back in the 1900s /PeePaw voice…

I probably wrote at least a dozen Lois & Clark and Gargoyles fics. I’d share them but they’re a) handwritten and b) unfinished.

Tabula Rasa (Imperium!Damien/Angel). Because what happened immediately after that first Imp!Damien video?

@ejunkiet and I really dug deep to make sure “An Honest Man Like Yourself” (Milo & Colm) fit the canon timeline and fit it with everything in “Cannoli Canon”

🔥 Hottest fic you ever written?

Oh, I took it down from AO3. But it was a weekend in the country with President Moore and his trusted self-insert. I mean, his trusted assistant.👀 (I still read it sometimes. It’s for me, honestly.)

👽 Strangest fic you ever written?

New Kindred. I always wanted to go back and develop this storyline more but the characters seemed like they wanted to belong to their own universe and not really be in a fic. And it’s the only time I wrote a song to go with a fic

👀 What’s an idea you had for a fic that you never did anything with?

I want to write a Sandman + Redacted Elliot or Blake crossover sooooooo bad.

✍🏽 How much do you plan your fics beforehand?

Lol. I wish. Usually they happen very organically. In fact, I often start without any idea where they’re going.

😚 A fic you liked writing more than other fics?

It’s my not-so-secret cult favorite: An Unsettling Settlement (Imperium Adam & Imperium Lasko.) 👌🏻 The fic that took the fastest to write?

If we count them as fics (and I do), then most of the voicemails and phone calls I do as Marie happen in 10 minutes or less. I essentially ad-lib them and then just edit slightly.

🌈 Your favorite tropes to write about?

Character backstories. I love filling in the blanks within canon.

Childhood/school sweethearts is my favorite romantic trope.

📬 The best comment you ever received?

Umm…I will collectively say that any time y’all are like “FRENCHIE IS MARIE IT’S BASICALLY CANON” and the like… I’m not gonna lie: I screenshot all of those and keep them in a special smile file.

🔪 The fic/chapter that hurt the most to write?

The final chapter of the Cannoli fic (Sorry Marie! Sorry Milo! )

💾 The longest fic you have written (either with most chapters or most words)

“Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli” (32053 words). My opus to Milo’s parents.

I also may have Imperium Sofia’s backstory written. Good luck, Investigator.

🏚 A fic you more or less abandoned?

I have two, but one I might actually finish. “Bye Bye Blackbird” which is a “through the looking glass”/crossover thing with Canon!James in the Imperium. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I know where to go with that one post-Cataclysm. The other is where Imperium!Lasko decides to get turned into a vampire. That one actually still works…maybe even better given the ending of Cataclysm, but I’d have to go back and change some things.

😅 Was there a fic/chapter that you were nervous about posting? Why?

I’m always nervous about posting anything even remotely spicy because even though I’m a whole-ass adult, I’m also a professional person with a job and stuff so I’m always paranoid about being discovered.

📺 Any references to other media that you put in your fics?

I will always and forever enjoy the way Marie compares Colm to George McFly after their meet-cute.

🥚 Any easter eggs you put in a fic that you hoped people would notice?

For “An Honest Man Like Yourself”, @ejunkiet and I decided Colm Greer's title at DUMP is “Deputy Investigation Commissioner for Central Services:

Also, several of the Marie/Colm fics (not just the first one) have lines from The Godfather as a title. (I guess that counts as an easter egg and a media reference!)

😮 Anything you included in your fic that you didn’t expect people to like?

Seriously, Marci. My very first OC in my very first fic. She was really only there to usher people into Imperium!Lasko’s office, but now she has like a whole arc with him. They banter. They…do other things together. Also, I liked her so much that she also exists in the canon universe. I wrote a very fluffy one for that: “Welcome to Doughlia”.

🏳️‍🌈 Do you write the most m/f ships, f/f ships or m/m ships?

I try to mix it up. For the Redacted listener characters, I never write them gendered, regardless of how I conceptualize them.

🌾 A fic you really want to write but you haven’t (yet)?

Since I kind of count my songs as fics, I’m gonna say: a song for Morgan. I love Morgan, and obviously he doesn’t have a ton of content. And content is the hardest thing to work out when I’m doing any song. (Characters can’t just sing: they have to sing for something and/or about something.)

😊 The fic that you’re the most proud of?

I actually think it’s my anonymous posted Imperium!Sofia one. It focuses on political intrigue, which is not a genre I read much of, let alone writing it, so the fact that I came up with something that I actually think is entertaining and builds the suspense while also answering some questions, I was very happy with that.

🪡 The scene you worked the hardest on in any fic?

The final scene of “An Honest Man Like Yourself”. Wanted that bridging experience to be juuuuuust right.

🎡 Your favorite scene to write in -insert fic-?

I love WhiteKnight!Colm. I love him. So I love the first chapters of “Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli” and “Rosie”. They are very dear to me.

💩 The scene you hated to write the most in -insert fic-?

Let’s just say the comparative study between why Michael is a schmuck and a loser and Angel’s 1000x better off with Davey was based on real life, so me writing that Michael scene out was really more like me writing in a diary and that was… at least it was cathartic…

🪜 Tell us a random fact about any fic!

Even when I’m writing a traditional, prose fic, if it has Marie in it, I usually start brainstorming by ad-libbing into a voice memo. :)

Alive I swear! Posting once again just because… you know…….. im alive and breathing like a normal human.

I have nothing specific to talk about tonight really, but Briar and Julien are both on the brain. I’m not too sure what to talk about for them…

How about jumping into the future a bit? I swear I’ll get back to the Jay and Briar battle, but let’s skip ahead a little to Briar’s capture. Yes, of course Briar gets captured. You wouldn’t think he’d be able to keep a low radar forever, would you?

Briar’s operations and his whole cult thing pretty much led to him being found out eventually. Of course, like with any cult compound they have secret routes out, but Briar commanded the others to run when the encampment was being surrounded. Julien insisted on staying with him.

Now, this could go three ways;

1. Briar and Julien both get captured by the police and the ninja. Because he’s an elemental master now, they didn’t want to throw him in prison, but instead try to reform him. The ninja initially wanted to take just Briar, but Briar insisted Julien come with them, or they wouldn’t go at all. So, Briar and Julien are taken to the Monastery, and promise to somewhat behave while they were there. Of course, their weapons were taken away except for Briar’s cape, which he insisted on keeping because it helped him get around. They promised not to use it as a weapon while they were residing there. This path could lead to many nice little moments, but nothing I want to focus on for now.

2. Briar convinces Julien to leave with the rest of the cult, and it’s just Briar who gets captured. He is taken to the monastery to be reformed, but he’s not the main focus this path. Julien is. Of course, Julien is heartbroken and needs to figure out a way to retrieve Briar successfully. He needs them, but right now the followers also need Julien to give them hope after Briar’s capture. So, over the course of the next year, Julien would continue the cult in Briar’s name, and essentially build up an army to ‘rescue’ him. Meanwhile, Briar is being taught to accept the ninja as good. Unsure if he would buy into it yet though, but at this point he willingly is staying in the Monastery due to his good behavior… and the snacks.

3. Julien is captured in place of Briar. Now while I’m not entirely sure how this would happen yet (maybe Briar is outside of the compound while this happens? thinking thinking I’ll be back with this one), I do know that Briar would be absolutely pissed that they kidnapped his partner priest, and immediately come up with ways to get him back. Most likely, he would get into a rage and violently storm the monastery, injuring the ninja in plenty of ways, only to be stopped by Lloyd or Wu, or maybe Jay since he’s his opposite, if at all. Many things could happen with any of these routes.

Primarily, these are the main things that could happen with Briar and Julien (And a soon to be third character! Ohohoho!), and I’m very indecisive on all of them. I very much enjoy all these routes and the second and third ones are my favorites so far. I would appreciate some suggestions for these ideas, thank y’all who follow for listening. Hope you’re having good days/nights. :]

-he’s so used to screaming at kuroo through his mic that when he’s finally pissed off and bubbling ; it just happens after you try to ask him what he wants for dinner at the wrong time

“ go left “ The sound of the controller clicking swirled through the room as your boyfriends eyes followed the screen at every turn his character took “ kuroo I said go left “

“ uh which one ? “

kenmas face went into a straight line as kuroos body stiffened knowing he hadn’t been listening in the first place “ no wait which way I meant —which way “

“kuroo I said go left “

“ oh “

“ yeah — go left “ the strain in your boyfriends voice was evident

it showing off the sliver of annoyance he was trying to hold back knowing that you were somewhere in the same house

he hated for you to see him anything other than calm

Anytime he showed any bit of annoyance with you or even showed he was about to give you attitude you quickly shut it down. It was obvious to him who was the dominant one in the relationship and he had no problem with it

Honestly he was scared of what you would think when you finally saw him fly off the handle. Of course you’d seen him have an attitude he was a gamer that was normalized to have one after a lost game but, it wasn’t often he showed you that side because kenma doesn’t do losing

so what would happen if he finally got ticked off so badly due to something that was ‘just a game’ to you would you be scared?

he couldn’t help but think that you would run for the hills and then screw him over in the breakup and tell everyone he still wears tidy whities and forgets to go pee during gameplays unless you remind him by asking had he peed all day

the silence in the moment spoke volumes before kenma could

his hand grabbing the controller harshly as he refused to blink seeing the word loser flash in bright letters on his screen

Body growing hot and sweaty while he tried to hold in his anger and process what just happened so he could determine the next best course of action

Knowing , He just knew

The amount of trouble he’d get in if you walked in to hear him screaming at kuroo shouting words you hated when he used

He was trying to hold it all in

really he was

he just needed some quiet first just some silence to figure out how to calm himself down his brain going over serveral images of kuroo dead at the bottom of stairs maybe even him getting hit too hard with one of kenmas sets when they played 4 on 4matches

Anger only growing when he heard a voice pour in that he couldn’t figure out who it belonged to much less cared

“ hey ke— “

“ Do you ever fucking listen “ his voice was hard and threatening “ do you ever just shut the fuck up and “

he threw his headphones to his keyboard “ and listen — no you don’t— you go quiet and now here i am upset because you simply don’t listen — answer the questions i’m asking you— you fucking sea creature“

his body only growing hotter as his neck got red eyes darting for a person to scream at and take his anger out on

“ answer me “ he screamed pain eteched in his voice as he finally turned to find you

a look crossing over his face before he blinked looking to the floor then up at you in confusion before turning back to his screen that glowed in the dark room anger hitting him all over again when he saw kuroos wide open mouth and their dead avatars laying on the ground

“ Why the fuck — how the —- I always fucking lose when that asshole —that miscalculated creation— whenever he plays with me it’s so serious to me — i make money off of it i make — i get deals and i — I can’t — can’t lose them they’ll think i’m not good enough— i“

he slammed his fist into the wall speaking low

“ I hate fucking losing “

he turned to you “ it’s not nice y/n — I tried to fucking do your shitty routine of calming myself down first but it just “

he moved closer to you with anger pouring from his body

your eyes wide in a look of fear when he grabbed your face pointing to his screen “ look — “

he screamed in your face when you didn’t tear your eyes away from his “ BABE I SAID LOOK“

your eyes never leaving his as he just grew angrier at your incompetence

“ so your not fucking listening to me either “ his voice grew questioning “ are your ears dirty just like kuroos ? huh ? are y’all apart of some shitty cult for mute wannabes “

his hand gripped tighter on your cheeks “ i’m so stupid your just as fucking dumb as that asshole — fucking — I bet you wanna date him huh — “

his mind ran wild as he thought of the two of you together insecurity blooming

he laughed “ fucking slu— “

“ finish it and we’ll be playing our own game of kenma getting his ass beat until he finally gives up and cries “

your eyebrows quirked up as you held eye contact with him “ trust me you’ll lose “

you looked at the male in front of you in disgust

his hands loosened their hold on you

you scoffed as he dropped his hand in a rush of fear

his cheeks grew hot as he blinked himself out of his trance only to see what he’d gotten himself into

“ who do you think you are talking to like that “

your stare making him shake even more in fear

You always scared him when you were upset wether you were taller or not your annoyance alone at an action he’d done scared him enough

Your words stood tall and poured in on him making him feel like he was suffocating but, he knew he needed to hear this. You only did this when his anger was out of control like he knew it could be. He stayed on his games all day and all night which was the only way to provide your shared income

at least until he could get his company up and running he had yet to sign contracts because he said he needed to read them first and reading took too much work

this was how he paid your bills. It stressed him out knowing that any day someone on the internet could call him a loser and that same day your steady flow of money may trickle in slower than usual

So when he lost a game any game even something as simple as Mario or even kirby it pissed him off because he couldn’t help but shoulder all the responsibility of taking care of you and himself. He didn’t want to be the reason you lost that stability and all of this catered into his rage. A rage only you could catch and calm down with your sheer words.

“ who do you think you are “ your voice came out low and calm as you spoke down on him “ answer me “

“n-no on — no one babe “

“ don’t babe me “ your hand pressed on his chest “ you don’t deserve that not after you talked to me that way “

“ I -i’m sorry “

“ you— your forgiving me “ he laughed almost mocking you knowing he’d never been let go this quickly you usually took away his gaming system until he’d learned to calm down

he even started ‘doing’ yoga, if you count playing the youtube videos on the tv while he played on his apple watch that you’d forgotten to take, just to fool you into giving his game back “ this easily“

your eyes moved pointedly to his as he fell back into submission

“ i’m sorry I just meant you arent more upset “

“ well i’m deciding that since it was the first time you ever went to that extent of yelling at me I’m gonna let you off the hook “

you smiled “ also I thought you already got enough punishment “

you let your head move up to face his computer screen in a slight nod his eyes lighting up before his face fell in sadness

Sith Inquisitor Storyline: Drunk History Version

Y’all, and by y’all I mean one person (@sith-shenanigans thank you very much), asked for it, and I live to repeat this over and over for others’ amusement, so here it is. Have my summary of the pinball machine that is the Sith Inquisitor storyline, from memory, originally drafted a while back in DMs with a friend who’s never played SWTOR. Spoilers for the Sith Inquisitor storyline, obviously.

Without further ado: Let us begin.

- So your story begins as a recently sort-of-freed slave walking off a ship and onto Hell: The Planet. (The nonhuman Inquisitor immediately experiences 2483947 microaggressions.)

- You have to compete with a bunch of other people! Only one of you is not going to die and the overseer has already picked his favorite, seemingly purely because he happens to have red skin. They will both (the overseer and Teacher’s Pet) proceed to be as annoying as possible for the rest of the Korriban story.

- multiple people try to kill you, but you’re the protagonist, so fuck them

- “Teacher’s Pet, you go to the library and translate these texts. Protagonist, you go to this ancient tomb and figure out how to retrieve an artifact from a lock that no one has been able to open in ten thousand years.” “Libraries are boring anyway. Yawn.”

- You finally get to smackdown with Teacher’s Pet, which is satisfying as hell. Unfortunately the overseer gets pissy about it. Fortunately, the Sith you’ve been competing to be the apprentice of decided she liked you early on and has also been playing favorites, so you don’t die immediately.

- your master is great! much more into positive reinforcement than most Sith.

- at some point you semi-accidentally steal someone else's cult on Nar Shaddaa and now they worship you as a nigh-on god. whoops. you just kind of... leave and let them run their own business. you pay them visits later in the storyline.

- you also become part bug so you can go skinny dipping in radioactive waste. it’s fine, we promise.

- your master is trying to steal your body because turns out she's actually really old and kind of dying so she plans on kicking you out of your body, transplanting her own soul in your place, killing her old body, and assuming your identity after "you" "killed" "your master"! that's not great, better not let her do that.

- you successfully didn't let her do that! wait, now she's sharing a body with one of your companions, an ancient monster who you kind of forced into submission and who serves you rather unwillingly now. there is apparently nothing that can be done about this so sometimes your eight-foot-tall monster not-friend talks in a high, unnervingly smooth feminine voice and tries to convince you she's on your side now that she's forced by this new body to not harm you. this is also not great but what are you gonna do. he is also Not Pleased about this by the way, and really who can blame him.

- some darth on the dark council named Thanaton decides to get pissy with you for reasons I don't remember and now he's trying to kill you. what the fuck.

- he actually almost does kill you but your old master's other apprentices, who are now your apprentices, save you from the brink of death.

- (the apprentices, by the way, are very sweet and I love them. they’re murdered by thanaton almost immediately.)

- your solution to "I need more power, fast", for some godforsaken reason, is "I'm going to learn to walk the line between life and death and EAT GHOSTS" and I wish I were exaggerating this

- you go out and eat a bunch of ghosts of old Sith on various planets

- subpoint to this: on one of these planets, you accomplish this by coercing the ghost's descendant, a Jedi padawan named Ashara, to get the ghost to appear so you can eat him. You end up murdering her masters in the process because one way or another they find out about your plan. She is understandably horrified by this turn of events and, feeling she has no chance of returning to the Jedi, reluctantly joins your crew and either (Light Side Quizzy) learns to balance light and dark sides of the Force and becomes ultimately stronger for it, or (Dark Side Quizzy) lives in abject terror of you for the rest of the storyline. I love her dearly as well. fortunately she is not murdered by thanaton.

- congrats! you ate enough ghosts to have enough power to beat thanaton up!

- unfortunately, you have Ate Too Many Ghosts Disease now and need immediate medical attention.

- your mind kind of just Shatters and you may or may not have hallucinations for a while iirc. either way you need help or you're just gonna disintegrate slowly until the ghosts overwhelm you and take over. you go to Voss and participate in some wild Force ritual they've got to take care of that. it's a fun time

- your body is also having a bad time and that also needs fixing; I don't remember where you go for this (Belsavis, I think?) but you end up checking out a machine made by a long-dead alien civilization and the machine turns out to a) be sentient and b) be responsible for CREATING A GOOD PORTION OF THE GALAXY'S NEAR-HUMAN SPECIES, IF NOT ALL OF THEM, AND DISSEMINATING THEM TO THE GALAXY AS PART OF THE RAKATA'S EXPERIMENTS ON CREATING FORCE-SENSITIVE LIFEFORMS IN HOPES OF KEEPING THEIR OWN SPECIES FROM DYING OUT BECAUSE THEY WERE SUPER RACIST AND EVENTUALLY THAT RACISM KICKED THEM IN THE ASS IN THE FORM OF A MASS REVOLUTION THAT WIPED THEM OUT COMPLETELY BUT THE MACHINE IS STILL HERE

- all right I’m calm sorry I derailed for a moment

- I have a lot of thoughts about things

- anyway the machine bUILDS YOU A NEW FUCKING BODY and you're good to go now

- (by the way, depending what species you're playing, it's entirely possible you learn at this point that your entire species only exists because of this machine!)

- (anyway.)

- okay, mind fixed, body fixed, ghosts consumed, we're good to go! time to murder a dark councilor!

- "we do that"

- except you don't because you're on corellia and this dipshit challenges you to a kaggath without really ever explaining in detail what a kaggath is or what the rules (if any) are, we just know it seems to be the ancient and very formal Sith way of saying "meet me in the denny's parking lot at 3am if you want an ass-kicking", and then hE RUNS OFF TO DROMUND KAAS WHICH DEPENDING ON WHAT GALAXY MAP YOU BELIEVE IS UP TO FIVE DAYS' TRAVEL AWAY

- YOU'RE CANONICALLY JUST CHASING THIS LITTLE BITCH THROUGH SPACE FOR FIVE DAYS AFTER HE CHALLENGED YOU

- he then goes to the Dark Council to try to convince them to help him kill you and you literally have to just go to the Dark Council chambers too and kick in the door and go "HEARD YOU WERE TALKIN SHIT" in front of everyone

- (which to be fair is basically Sith philosophy in a nutshell)

- Ravage and Marr spend this entire council meeting just exchanging tired glances and going "no, fuck you, why can't you kill them, they're your problem. fight for our entertainment now. fuck you"

- (Darth Baras did this exact same shit earlier the same day, by the way, with the Sith Warrior. and by “earlier the same day” I mean “like fifteen minutes prior to this.”)

- you fight Thanaton. to no one's surprise, because you're the protagonist and because he's being a little bitch about it, you kick his ass and slaughter him in front of everyone

- half the Council stands up and you just kind of go "oh shit I'm gonna die"

- but no

- you're being promoted

- congration you done it you're a dark councilor now

- someone complains because wait, they're not even a darth, you can't be a dark councilor if you're not even a darth

- first person responds with "well fuck you then, we'll make them a darth. hey you. your name is Darth Nox (dark side)/Imperius (light side)/Occulus (neutral) now. take a seat"

- "but - what?"

- "take a fuckin seat, babe"

- "o- okay"

- "you run the entire Ancient Knowledge sector now, by the way, despite the fact that you may or may not be illiterate due to having been raised a slave, because that was what Thanaton ran and we only have the one job opening since the Warrior just killed Baras"

- (the Warrior, freshly coined the Emperor's Wrath officially, waves from their corner where they're cleaning Baras's blood off their boots)

- "I - okay, I guess"

Fandom safe spaces are important. Let people be happy.

Hello!

So for those who like to avoid fandom drama, I’ll state right off the top that maybe you want to avoid this. But I got something to say! Jen has a story!

The alternative title to this was going to be “The accidental destruction of a fandom safe space” or “The ‘oops I found myself in fandom drama’ story”

I’m writing this more as a cautionary tale and before I continue I will not wish ill on anyone that was involved.

Also, the story I’m about to say is of my personal perspective of my personal memory that took a beating in the last year because of pandemic stress. Everyone involved has their own perspective. Personal stories will always have a bias. I try my hardest not to have a bias, but it’s just how storytelling works. I honestly didn’t think I’d ever type something like this up, but, here we are I suppose.

However, I am telling this because I think it’s important to truly, honestly, pay attention to fandom safe spaces. Not out of warnings, not out of ‘cults’, but that you—you—choose your fandom safe space; you choose your blanket fort, you choose your platform of choice and the people you want to interact with to make yourself feel safe and happy. This is especially important following the end of a comfort show like Supernatural (whether it frustrated you, or you unconditionally loved it, most of you I think it’s safe to assume viewed the show as a comfort show with comfort characters).

We as a fandom need to find where we feel comforted and safe and happy.

*Also keep in mind, I’m discussing average, every day fandom spaces. There are extremes, there are people who are in fandom spaces that feel like they can harass actors, threaten others, throw insults or slurs at others.*

I don’t know what your dashes look like, but mine is full of folks posting fics, gifs, fanart, and having fun little headcanons (along with cockles lol). I often unfollow some folk, not because I dislike them, but just that I really disliked show wank and negative posts about episodes or characters. Obviously, that changed post-15x20, I do like some salt posts now and some shit posts but I think folks know I truly love this show, top bottom left right—all of it.

I specifically seek this kind of energy out because I’ve had negative experiences in fandoms before and I have a very stressful job which is pretty hard to do with untreated ADHD and an eating disorder. Fandom is my safe space, my comfort space, my happy place, and I make sure it’s something that I want to open the computer to every single day.

And I know that’s how a lot of you operate as well.

So let’s dive in! [this got pretty long lol]

Before I go into my story, I want to just like—let y’all in on a little bit about myself so you can kind of understand really where my head is at a lot of the time. I’ll try not to embarrass myself but it’s going to happen anyway lol.

First things first, I work in the news/broadcasting industry. Day to day is pretty stressful and on a personal level, it’s been exponentially more stressful this year (though, not as stressful as doctors/nurses/first responders/frontline workers/essential workers. They have my heart and soul with them).

I have been diagnosed with depression and general anxiety. I’ve been in therapy since 2011 for that. I also have been diagnosed with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder which can lead to bouts of Anorexia (not Nervosa, just the occasion where I randomly stop eating mostly due to stress). Along with all of that, I have diagnosed ADHD and I am unable to take medication because of my restrictive eating disorder causing an already shaky relationship with hunger cues.

I’ve often had low self-esteem. I’m usually quiet but I can be loud and obnoxious sometimes, usually fueled by other peoples’ energy, sometimes I’m either overcompensating or just acting for the sake of acting. The whole ‘fake it til you make it’ thing. That loud and obnoxiousness has gotten me into trouble before because I allow myself to get lost in it because it’s not a feeling I have often.

It’s all that jumbled up, tangled mess in my head that often leads me to make rash decisions. I fall easily to adrenaline rushes, anything that stimulates me (not substances, just… things I can do), and, what I like to think is the worst of it all, I easily follow anyone who shows me any kind of love or respect. I have not had a date in over ten years because of this very problem. I am fearful of falling into bad relationships.

This is where the story essentially starts.

Some of y’all have seen me post a few times on my blog that I’m having a ‘low self-esteem moment’. Usually that comes with writing problems. But, know that I do have low self-esteem moments outside writing as well. I see groups all the time in the fandom of various blogs and, including very smart people, or writing groups that I don’t feel like I can be a part of, or fanart groups.

I once told my therapist I often feel like I’m sitting outside multiple bubbles where I can see everyone interacting and having a good time, but I can’t join them.

In the summer of 2019, I mosied on over to Twitter because Tumblr was quiet leading up to SDCC where we were expecting more Season 15 finale news.

Twitter fandom is a little… rough. And I don’t say that with disrespect, but it’s loud, quick, and harder to curate what you see on your timeline. A lot of Tumblr folks had moved there over the years. Not just with the SPN fandom, just with a lot of fandoms. I have been on Tumblr since 2008, it’s easy to count the eras more or less (you’re probably familiar with ‘2012 Tumblr’ but I raise you 2010 Tumblr lol).

So off I went. There I met people I hadn’t met on Tumblr. I’m not naming names because I don’t want this dissolving into an image of me pointing fingers at people and flinging poo around like a baboon. I’m sure you can deduce who I’m talking about and if you need names, you can message me. Needless to say, I met some folks I hadn’t before along with blogs I had followed on Tumblr and absolutely enjoyed having on my dash for the most part.

I was invited into a friend group Twitter GC for the first time in my SPN fandom life. It was a little intense for me, but it was fun watching smart people talk about things, and I really did make some friends that I still love talking to.

I was invited into other peoples’ safe, fandom spaces, and in turn, felt like I had one as well. I could talk about spoilers, meta (though I didn’t understand a lot of it), and just kinda vent about some issues, particularly in fandom. I didn’t agree with everything I came across but we’re all individual people with individual thoughts and opinions and arguments so that’s just how life goes!

There was one instance where I maybe got a little too adrenaline rush-y and was kind of ranting about someone on Twitter (we’re only human!) and was ushered aside by one of the folks in the friend group that is also a blog I enjoyed following on Tumblr, we’ll call them Person C.

There were two of these people, these Tumblr-Twitter people. I was warned by Person C to kind of not let the friend group, or the group chat, kind of pull me into anger that deep because I’m a happy blog (and I like to maintain that status as much as possible!).

I thanked them and confirmed that yes maybe sometimes that GC got a little heated or maybe I got lost in it a little bit. In retrospect, and maybe you’ll agree or maybe you won’t, but when you’re surrounded by people who agree with you on something, excited adrenaline kind of takes over and it becomes a hype game.

Remember that for later.

Life moved on and as things kept coming out about the finale and the show began airing, we all shot off our thoughts and opinions and meta and all of that good stuff.

A couple weeks after 15x07 (my episode my god I love that episode so much) aired, I received Tumblr messages from the second of the two Twitter-Tumblr people that I liked following. This is Person A. They asked me an opinion on a response to someone who also originated from the friend group, someone I didn’t know on Tumblr only on Twitter. They are Person B.

It was an easy enough assessment I told myself as I read it, like, half awake lol. I had agreed that Person B, in that chat I was shown, maybe sounded a little rude or a little too intense about things, at least in this specific conversation.

I continued talking with Person A about Person B and in hindsight, I wish I saw this all coming. I let my own personal slight annoyances with Person B get blown way out of proportion, and found that I was hyping up Person A and justifying their grievances of Person B when in reality, looking back, there wasn’t much to get so upset over.

Even my own personal annoyances weren’t earth-shattering, it’s just one of those things where you understand that not every person will enjoy another person 100% (and if you find someone you gel with 100% then you should hold onto them for dear life lol). There’s always going to be some small thing that doesn’t vibe with someone else, but rarely is it extreme. Every human being isn’t going mesh 100% with another human being.

So anyway, the conversation grew with Person A and now with Person C, the person who had warned me a couple of months prior to the ‘toxicity’ of the Twitter friend group.

Remember what I said about an excited-adrenaline fueled hype game? That’s what it had started to turn into for me. My small little annoyances suddenly grew to epic proportions, and I ignored the fact I didn’t actually agree with what Person A and Person C were even saying half the time. My point of argument became about ‘attitude’, or, how to talk to others you don’t agree with when it came to Person B, while completely failing to understand that Person A and Person C were also not talking to or about someone with respect.

My annoyances with Person B was just sometimes how I personally read their tone online. That was it. That was the whole thing. It wasn’t a huge issue, it wasn’t earth shattering, it wasn’t life-altering.

I was never even spoken to that way. It was just a small thing that for months, I didn’t pay much attention to. But with Person A and Person C, I decided that was my central argument! ‘Why can’t you act better’, ‘why can’t you talk nicer’, ‘why do you talk like such a bully?’

I had begun to echo their talking points: Bully, bully pulpit, attack dogs, etc.

Eventually, almost exactly a year ago as I post this, it kind of all came to a head in the Twitter GC. Reportedly, Person A had gone into others’ inboxes or message chats and did the same kind of number they had done on me: Leading questions, escalating small problems into big problems, trying to get confirmation that Person A was in the right about their argument and meta. (I think I have seen one other instance of them doing this, but was told and read that there were more. Regardless, they had messaged me, and at least one other person. Hence the ‘reportedly’.)

But the fireworks had started, I said my piece, but I also watched things going back and forth and it was halfway through it I realized that I may not have judged this properly and stumbled into a situation I’ve found myself in twice before in my life. But, as it goes in the heat of ‘battle’ I guess, I couldn’t shut up, and I couldn’t shut anyone else up. Accusations also spilled onto Twitter outside the GC, discussions of the GC were also mentioned out in public as well as indications as to what was talked about there, and it also spilled onto Tumblr.

Before I realized what truly happened, the GC shattered.

A fandom safe space shattered.

By the end of it I was starting to feel that shaky crash from the adrenaline and as I spoke with a friend who also kind of felt caught in the middle, I realized just how much I fucked up. Like literally a short time later the crushing wave of guilt just poured over me.

I went to two people in the (now destroyed) GC and apologized, but the apology didn’t make me feel better, nor should it have. I did a lot of damage. Not 100% directly, but I assisted, and I hated that because not only did I shatter a safe space for many, over nothing, I had also shattered it for myself.

I allowed my own annoyances to get twisted and morphed and was selfish enough to believe that they were worthy enough to disrupt people’s safe spaces and happy places and places where they felt safe to talk to others about personal things.

I had been reinvited to the new GC after my apology but I left the morning after. I felt too horrible, and I knew that there would be some in there who didn’t trust me anymore (rightfully so). I went back to Person A and Person C who tried to carry on without the group as well and wound up listening to more grievances, but it all started to ring hollow. Sure enough, after a while communication with Person A and Person C just… stopped.

Then the pandemic hit, and I had a break down with my mental health issues triggering a hard bought with anorexia, I had guilt over being in Fandom already with what I did and then had guilt that if I enjoyed fandom now, that I would be ‘tempting fate’ with this virus. I kid you not I do not remember most of Spring.

The reason why I had outlined my issues at the beginning is to not offer an excuse, but offer a reason, and a sense of pathology as to how my brain worked in getting me to all of this. Two blogs on Tumblr I had enjoyed made me feel special like they could trust me, that they respected me, so, I went along with it even though I didn’t agree much with them and my argument was weak and selfish. I was shown attention by people I liked who I didn’t think would like me back, so I went along with what was happening without question because if I said anything to the contrary, I felt like I would lose that love and respect.

My low self-esteem issues and the desire to be part of a ‘bubble’ actually caused another bubble to pop. I did that.

The ironic thing was the annoyances I found that I had with Person B, the annoyances that grew so exponentially over nothing, were annoyances I also had with Person A. They were pretty similar.

So why am I bringing this all up now? What’s the ‘caution’?

I’m seeing talk about ‘cults’ and ‘conspiracy theory groups’.

A lot of these posts are targeting one specific person, Person B (so now maybe you know who I’m speaking about!) and their safe fandom space.

Again.

And in those voices is Person A.

Again.

And there’s this growing group of people who think their logic is irrefutable when it comes to Person B and their friends and view a fandom safe space, a happy place with people like to chat and stuff, as ‘evil’.

Again.

And this is what I really want to talk about.

It’s not okay to disrupt someone’s safe fandom space just because you don’t like them. I feel like it’s not okay in general, outside of fandom, to make someone feel like they are a bad person when they aren’t and to pin their safe spaces as bad just because you don’t like them or how they go about things.

Just because you don’t like someone doesn’t mean they are the worst a person can be. You just don’t like them. That’s it. You don’t have to like everyone.

Person A has also discussed ‘attack dogs’—

Again.

Yes, some people in these groups can be outspoken, hell maybe even rude in some peoples’ eyes, and yes that shouldn’t be tolerated. But, at the same time, not everyone is like that, and people like Person A knows that.

This is really, I feel like, a universal message across platforms, across fandoms: Do not invalidate someone’s safe and happy fandom space unless it’s causing abject harm (threatening, harassment, mortal danger, promotion of unhealthy behavior).

And before I get this comment, someone defending themselves on Twitter is not harassment, especially when someone else fired the first shot.

Harassment has been talked about a lot with Person B and this friend group and yeah, there have been arguments on Twitter but I think that’s less of a personality thing and more of a “Twitter makes debates and arguments with unpleasant people easy to engage in”. That’s a story for a different day. There is good in calling out behavior you find questionable. But, please do it respectfully. It’s easy to get lost in personal grievances, and online debates, but finding the middle ground again is beneficial for everyone. It’s a larger talk for a different day.

As for these servers of Person B that seem to be in a constant talk on some peoples’ blogs, I myself am part of two of them. I had apologized to Person B before going into them because I hadn’t acknowledged to them that my actions were inexcusable. I was allowed in, I wasn’t recruited or anything, I just saw a link on their blog several weeks ago saying people could join if they wanted. If I did not feel safe there, I could have just left the server.

One of the servers I am more involved with than the other, and I am having a blast. It’s another fandom safe space to add onto my Tumblr blog. There are some channels I don’t go into because I don’t understand the discussion, but there are other channels I just thrive on!

I enjoy speaking with people, a lot of whom also find the area to be their safe space. It’s not a ‘cult’, it’s just a bunch of SPN fans having fun, and, like any discord server, it has rules much like ‘don’t be an asshole’ and the like.

I don’t have to subscribe to any ‘philosophy’, and I don’t. I also disagree with many on said server about the SPN ending, but I’m not an asshole about it. I mostly keep finale talk on my Tumblr anyway, and I respect their viewpoints and logic.

This story isn’t about my defending every action or post or whatever of Person B, but basically to say that sometimes every slight annoyance we feel can seem like a mountain if we find others who have the same annoyances. A personal feeling over someone isn’t enough reason to try and disrupt their safe space.

So, the tl;dr?

It’s very important you have a place you feel comfortable in when it comes to fandom be it a casual consumer or someone who wants to be deeply embedded.

It’s important that you find people you feel like you can go to, to trust, to talk to, to laugh and cry with, etc. It’s important those spaces stay intact, especially post-finale of SPN, but again, I feel like this can be applied to other fandoms as well.

It’s also important to ground yourself and not get swept away in online debate. Person C with their original discussion with me about reeling it back in when I went too far was good. That was a good discussion to have with me. Twitter especially is an easy place to lose yourself. We all have opinions. We all have something to say. It’s just important to ground yourself as well.

Fandom, especially in ones as large as SPN, has lots of nooks and crannies and long twisted alleyways into other sections of fandom. It’s difficult to navigate. If someone finds a place they feel like they belong, feel safe, feel happy, then they have a right to be there. If you don’t like said person, or where that person wound up, for no other reason other than you just don’t like them, then you don’t have a right to shatter that space.

Let people find their happiness and let them stay there if they so choose. We all deserve some happiness <3

He is for sure the main dancer and is a back-up/sub vocalist but he probably raps a few verses in a couple of select songs.

His signature is giving cheesy pep talks that hype up the group before performances.

It’s pretty cool but once you hear his words it’s cliche and you can’t help but giggle every time you witness it.

Speaking of you, he has a huge thing for yah

Like he probably makes it painfully obvious, but only in front of the members and staff. No fans nor paparazzi, he has a reputation to uphold of course.

But that doesn’t stop secret make-out sessions in his dressing room.

Sometimes he’ll just pull you in, pin you against the door and just stare into your eyes with so much passion before sealing your lips with his.

When eating with the group, he’ll casually wrap an arm over your shoulder while teasing you playfully in front of everyone.

Other times he’ll rest his hand on your thigh underneath the table wink wink.

Kenma

Shy small boi of the group

**Most presume him to be shy at first but he will actually roast tf out of his fellow members. Yk those ICONIC moments.

Main rapper, Kenma’s got bars and he can lowkey ruin someone’s career with a single diss track 😳 (he can sing too, has a pretty voice but denies it so he avoids singing most of the time).

MMM his fashion sense as well YES. Like have you seen those fanarts of Kenma rocking streetwear, yeah he would wear exactly that at the airport or somethin.

Ofc a huge gamer, he will most likely be seen on his switch backstage, during breaks, on the plane, during vlogs, etc.

Being his manager, Kenma finds you very endearing and he’s always blushing and nervous around you.

He hides his face behind his switch when he asks something from you awwwh

He won’t mention you in interviews but when he is asked he will just be like “yeah.. i guess she’s pretty cool” with a light pink dusting his cheeks.

Kenma probably wouldn’t have the courage to initiate a relationship in fear of ruining a lot of things. But if it were to happen y’all are super lowkey and good at hiding it.

Yet overall, very wholesome. If a member were to walk into his dressing room unannounced they would see the sight of Kenma laying his head in your lap and playing his games while you play with his hair.

Oikawa

OH the most fitting character as an idol and for sure the most famous out of everyone.

Main vocalist hands down (ponyo ponyooo-)

Oikawa is always and I mean always bombarded with the press and fangirls anywhere he goes.

It seems like the only time he has alone time is when he’s in his dressing room with the doors locked and he only allows you inside.

You two naturally got closer, you were the least annoying thing in his life so he felt comfortable around you and he found it fun to tease you every now and then.

One thing led to another and uhhhh

Definitely some dressing room sex involved with Tooru

You always scold Oikawa for giving you hickeys in very noticeable spots on purpose and he just waves it off while sticking his tongue at yah.

After awhile you probably have sleepovers with him because you both enjoy each others presence so much.

His schedule is always jammed pack so you tend to have to overwork in order to keep up and make sure everything runs smoothly.

So late at night when you’re organizing events for the next month after doing plentiful work, Oikawa will come up from behind and scoop you up in his arms carrying you to bed. He’ll cuddle you to sleep while whispering how you’re the best manager in the world.

All right, friends and neighbors. We are going to engage in an Angry Post, because I am very, very tired of seeing people complain about and question both Catra and Hordak being “forgiven too quickly.” This may be a bit sassier than what you normally expect from me, so it shall be tagged as “discourse” and should be read at your own risk. It’s certainly not aimed at anyone in particular and is more intended towards a general attitude that I’ve seen. That said, I am having many emotions about cartoon characters that must be worked through, so it’s happening.

So. Let’s start with Catra. Catra, and the idea that Bow and Glimmer and Adora forgave her too quickly. That they should have demanded she pay for her crimes before providing her with affection and acceptance.

I just... here. Let’s. Let’s just. Let’s even forget about all of the trauma she has been through for the entirety of her life. Let’s shelve Shadow Weaver. Let’s ignore that. Yeah? It shouldn’t really be ignored, of course, but for the sake of simplicity. Okay.

Catra just spent who-knows-how-long on Horde Prime’s ship. Catra was just put through a hellish purification ritual, mind-chipped, and used as a vessel against her will. Catra also fell off of what was essentially a cliff, unconscious and limp, and nearly died. Potentially actually died. Whatever. Point is: physical trauma, emotional trauma, mental trauma.

What, exactly, do y’all want to do to this girl that she hasn’t already suffered? Hm? What further pain and discomfort and terror do you demand that she experience before she’s been “punished enough”?

Do you want to isolate her from friendly contact until she fulfills your random Redemption List? Make her eat her meals alone, without nary a friendly face? Leave her to her nightmares without anyone to comfort her? Shall she live with Prime’s voice and Prime’s memory inside her head, unable to reach out to anyone for reassurance and relief?

And for what? Why? What would be the purpose?

Do you think that would help? Do you think that that would help Catra get better faster? Do you think it would be good for her, to be further isolated and shunned and deprived of affection and sympathy and comfort? Is demanding penance prior to providing love really in everyone’s best interest? Is it in Catra’s?

And now: Hordak. Who apparently also doesn’t deserve any love or care or mercy until he’s paid his dues.

Hordak was born into a cult. An actual, played-totally-straight, honest to the gods cult. He was manufactured in a little tank for the sole purpose of being a body to use and abuse at his god’s whims. He was programmed and indoctrinated to be loyal and devoted to said god on a legitimately disturbing level.

And when his body started to fail, when it became too much to maintain, he was sent away to fight until battle or illness killed him.

Hordak spent decades on a strange planet, with no support system, fighting and striving in the only way he knew how to be worthy of the same god who threw him away to die. He spent those decades dealing with a chronic illness, alone, that caused him pain, shame, and legitimately threatened his life. When he finally had a brief moment of friendship, it was violently taken away from him. When he rejoined his god, he experienced only humiliation and terror before having his identity taken from him. Afterwards, his despair was so great that he subjected himself to purification agony in order to keep his painful memories at bay.

He has suffered chronic physical pain, loneliness, intense fear of failure, and a sense of self-worth so abysmally low that he thought it was a good idea to go back to his narcissistic monster of a creator in order to feel at peace with himself. He suffered all of this while blaming himself for not being strong enough to singularly overcome things no sane person would ever demand someone to overcome on their own.

Yes, he did terrible things. He waged war. He hurt people. But now? He’s done. And now, he needs support and understanding and multiple helping hands to set things right and recover from this.

Or... what? What, those of you who claim he doesn’t deserve the mercy Adora has shown him, is it that he should receive instead?

Should he be physically dealt with? Shall we withhold his life support from him, just enough to ensure he knows he’s being punished? Or, perhaps, should he be isolated again? Left alone to suffer further physical illness and self-loathing without anyone to reach out to for comfort and guidance? Should love and security be denied him until he’s... what? Rebuilt a certain number of cities? Provided a certain number of new technologies? And how should he handle his pain during this time? Should he just suffer the misery of his failures and his fear and his pain in solitude until the arbitrary Penance Quota is fulfilled?

What is the point of denying him these things? Is it actually helpful? Will it help him recover faster? Will it teach him some sort of lesson he’s apparently too stupid to learn without hurting? Will it undo the damage the war has wrought?

Or will it just satisfy some perverse vengeance fetish some people appear to have?

Look here. I don’t mean to say that Catra and Hordak shouldn’t work to help the people they’ve hurt. That’s fine. I don’t mind it. Honestly, I feel like they’ll want to.

What I mean to say is that I don’t see a point or purpose to withholding love and comfort and legitimate help from these two deeply wounded, ailing individuals until they meet some sort of personal redemption standard. I don’t see the point to it. I don’t see the advantage.

All I see is heaping more cruelty and pain onto two people who, damage though they’ve caused, have suffered so terribly and completely that they will likely be dealing with the fallout of their trauma for the rest of their lives.

And I’m tired of it. I’m tired of these takes complaining about Catra and Hordak “getting off easy.” They didn’t get off easy. They suffered. And extending that suffering to fulfill someone’s completely arbitrary sense of “justice” is cruel. And pointless. And entirely against the messages and themes of this show.

All right. I’m done. I’ve had my hissy fit. Back to less sassy posts.

Tiger King was a fucking experience to say the least and I binged it all today, and like everyone else I was darkly, absurdly entertained in my shock. But holy shit I absolutely regret checking social media’s thoughts on it before going to bed. I hadn’t been in on the memes and discussions prior to watching. I gotta vent y’all.

Whiiiile it’s certainly fun to get swept up together in a story that is just so batshit crazy in a surreal time when all of us are gripped by fear, the grand takeaway that so many people got from this documentary is disturbing honestly.

I feel distressed that I have to explain that the conversation surrounding Carole Baskin is dripping with violent misogyny. There’s a way to hate on someone awful without making disgusting remarks about their sex. Carole Baskin is unlikeable, sketchy, and probably terrible - and yeah, QUITE POSSIBLY a murderer. Do not trust her at all myself, especially after hearing from her late husband’s family about her bullshit.

But guys. You just watched a seven hour documentary about a foul-mouthed, racist, predatory, violent man who could not relinquish his murderous obsession to the point that on his frequent internet show he was abusing a blow-up doll and calling it Carole, posting memes about her genitals, and making very colorful public death threats.

And you want to parrot that guy’s words, “that bitch Carole Baskin,” essentially continuing his violent misogynist legacy, because lol the memes you guys the meeeeemes. And he’s gay so it’s fine and she’s a bitch so whatever! Except after the first couple of times it stops being some meta commentary about Joe Exotic’s ridiculous paranoia and instead circles right back around to straight up misogyny, because all people are getting is that she’s “that bitch.”

Which is to say nothing of the people who *genuinely* believe that she was the worst person among all the crime lords on Tiger King. When Joe Exotic wasn’t being a gun-happy prick around his employees and blowing shit up (which I’m sure was a delight to the stressed out and abused animals on his property), he was snatching baby tigers away from their moms seconds after birth, shooting at least five other tigers in the head, and OH, busy preying on young men fresh out of high school and keeping them drugged and confined on his land.

Incoming Tangent: The predatory, grooming, cult shit going on with Joe and his meth-addicted “husbands” is stomach-churning. Travis’s story fucked me up and I’m still reeling over the fact that Netflix showed real security footage of a person reacting to his suicide/or accidental death without any warning. There’s a few major things like that that make me question how responsible this documentary’s handling was. Honestly the creators of the documentary seem a little gross too.

And there’s just so much more, I can’t go over all the fucked up people in this show, it’s a shock a minute lol (although special honorable mention to absolute human shitstain Doc Antle who keeps a harem of young women and coerces them into getting breast implants and fucking him for promotions). BUT THE POINT I’M TRYING TO MAKE IS

Look, I get it. It’s pretty obvious that people are latching on to the Carole thing because it’s easier and safer to riff on some absurd crime we don’t know was technically committed. For a lot of people dunking on Carole is just adopting the absurd costume of Joe Exotic for a minute and having cynical fun while the world spirals out of control. And that’s fine. Make your memes about her slathering her piece of shit first husband in salmon oil and feeding him to a tiger, question her sketch business practices and shitty priorities, fine cool whatever. I know people also target her because of all the villains in a show of villains, she seems to not get any comeuppance at all, and we all want to know what’s happening there. That’s why she was the first name I looked up, after all.

But a bunch of other people? Genuinely they just watched a show overflowing with despicable behavior, and instead of shaking their heads at the whole lot of them, they felt inclined to believe every bit of shit that came out of Joe Exotic’s mouth about Carole and her business. Even after they watched Joe threaten to shoot a tiger between the eyes for acting like a wild animal. Even after they watched Joe prey on a high school graduate and then talk at length about his genitals to his grieving family at his funeral. Even after all else, because our society’s misogyny runs so fucking deep, those viewers felt compelled to take up Joe’s lunatic crusade to put the head of “that bitch Carole Baskin” in a jar.

Instead of giving any kind of shit about tigers.

Did I mention that I love your writing as well? Your style consists of a mixture of comedy and seriousness. Like, your hcs for the tik tok trend and argument scenario for the bnha boys are really funny; on the other hand, your fic with yandere shoto gives off a completely different aura and it sent shivers down my spine. Miss, pls spare some of them writing skills.

my thoughts on The Umbrella Academy S2 [spoilers ahead]

so putting all my thoughts down was really hard. i decided to do it per character instead of like per appearance/episode - sorry if this is kinda hard to follow. this is also VERY LONG... hence the keep reading but here is a small taste -

he really overestimates his ability to time-travel

she told those men that she blew their mind + their heads literally blew up - mine about did too

FIVE

he really overestimates his ability to time-travel

k - he really needs to learn to TALK to his siblings more

but also he needs to work on his talking skills...

seeing five just mass murder people is highly amusing because he’s in the body of a 13yr old

also but how soft five was with vanya - i cry

i wanted a mention of dolores but alas only klaus remembered

though i did enjoy the continued coffee obsession - even if it was subtle

ALLISON

she told those men that she blew those their mind + their heads literally blew up - mine about did too

the second she walked into that diner - i was pAniCKing

the way those women were READY to throw down when allison ran into their shop - we stan them all (one of them was wielding a piping hot curling iron)

her husband ray is the sweetest of men + just what she needed before having to go back to twentieth century/glamour

i really liked the way they showed the consequences of allison using her powers - how she quickly slips back into bad habits. how it makes her into someone she doesn’t like

i’m really glad they didn’t forget claire - i was gonna be mad if she wasn’t mentioned

LUTHER

i stan luther hargreeves + i run the luther hargreeves protection squad cuz all of you are meanies who like to blame him for everything when in reality the real problem is their father

controversial opinion that i will be making a much larger post on but i ship allison x luther - they aren’t biologically related, they were only raised as siblings, there is 0% wrong with them falling in love

luther didn’t bother me in s1 like he did all y’all but that’s cause i’m mature enough to realize all of the siblings are fucked up - so the fact they made him more likeable this season is so nice. maybe ya’ll will take a chill pill on your luther hate-train

it was very interesting seeing luther so apathetic for the first bit of the season, when he had such a hero-complex last season

listen his talk with vanya in the barn was amazing - some people might be upset about the gun but the last time any of them saw her she had just blown up the fucking moon mkay?

he apologized for failing as a brother

for not being there

and he even said he didn’t care if vanya was bullshitting him

last thing - luther underestimating his self-importance now because of how he overestimated his self-importance in s1. i love that psychological circle

DIEGO

him being in the nuthouse makes perfect sense - i won’t lie

his role-reversal with luther this season was so *chef’s kiss*

TEAM ZERO *gives diego the fist-bump he deserved*

the moment lila slapped him when he leaned in for a kiss was the funniest shit ever - ‘i don’t understand you’ - then she kisses him - i was cackling

she gave him so much shit + i love that about her

when reginald yelled at him + it made his stutter come back for the fist time since he was a kid - FEELINGS

so in that last battle when diego redirected those bullets - that’s a power of his in the comics isn’t it? or is that just his power? projectile redirection? cause that was a confusing ass way to introduce that. just saying

him interacting with grace this season was like... hard cuz it’s not really her

KLAUS

the fact he made a cult is just so... klaus

he very much so looks like a hippie jesus

i’m kinda glad they showed him relapse because in a lot of media once someone gets clean it’s all butterflies + roses + unicorns out the ass. in reality - relapses happen

the family still isn’t very nice to klaus but we can work on that - they are better than before. it’s a work in progress

may i say that s1 vanya dressed far too gay to be heterosexual + s2 vanya did not disappoint

as a gay i appreciate the fact the writers heard all of us saying vanya is 100% gay + being like ‘ok sure’

it makes me kinda sad how happy vanya was with no memories vs s1

her connection with harlan was just so - amazing

also, i think harlan always had powers + that’s why vanya was able to pull a moses at the lake + jesus harlan back to life

i liked sissy. i also liked how she gave us a glimpse into a very realistic thing that used to happen to women who loved women. they would marry men because it was the norm. they’d also have affairs.

and her choice to stay was one made by a good mother - she was putting harlan first. every good mom puts their child first. even if they so desperately want to be selfish.

in good news - vanya now knows she likes vagina!

the fact they legit used LSD on vanya while she was being electrocuted was A LOT

seeing inside vanya’s mind was super interesting - especially when she remembered + how she was trapped inside the white violin

she wanted to die - let’s all take that in for a second

she ASKED for her siblings help + they didn’t disappoint for ONCE

her POWER at the farm... she leveled an ARMY

the handler is super conniving - i wasn’t expecting to dislike her this much

C’s (1/?) Destiel Rec List:

That gets less and less coherent as it goes.

So here is a rec list by order in which I read them and not by preference. They’re like, All Destiel, because that’s how Post-November C rolls:

First on the list is The Courtship of Combat by bendingsignpost 18k

I KNOW it’s not Thee fic by bendingsignpost that everyone is talking about. I know. BUT, I dearly enjoyed it. It’s the first in a series and it’s A/B/O. (I know. I know. Don’t @ me. Or do.) It’s pre-relationship and the characters are definitely themed toward early-Destiel if you catch my drift. Omega!Dean’s hand is being fought over. This wouldn’t matter to Castiel except he totally told Michael that the reason he wouldn’t marry anyone is because he’s head over heels for the Winchester Omega that he doesn’t even have a real recollection of ever meeting. It’s like the perfect balance of a meet-cute and meet-ugly. I just LOVE bendingsignpost’s Castiel voice. It’s such a great characterization.

I’M GONNA SCREAM THE SECOND ON THE LIST IS ANOTHER A/B/O?!? I swear I don’t read that much A/B/O, but this is another exception because it’s Biological Imperatives (Or Not) by tiamatv 29k

Tiamatv is one of my favorite writers. If you’re unfamiliar with their work, I’m gonna rec more of it to you. No worries. THIS lovely piece of work is a Beta/Beta narrative that focuses on how hilarious A/B/O tropes are from an outsider perspective, but doesn’t do it in a way that feels insulting to the classical tropes. It’s just people living their lives where these situations happen not often but enough that they know how to deal with it. Dean and Cas have several first dates trying to figure out what’s happening between the two of them. Castiel is thee love of my life in this piece. And Dean’s headspace makes for a witty narrative.

If you know me at all, you know this next one HAD to be a regency and it’s Of Lords and Letters by MalMuses 14k

Dean is the master of the Winchester estate after his father passes. Unfortunately for the estate (but much to Dean’s pleasure), he can’t run it personally because he’s at war. Not that he likes war all that much, but it’s what he knows. War he knows. Sam is a conniving but well-meaning little brother and puts him in contact with Mister Castiel Shurley. (I KNOW. I KNOW. I allow Castiel Shurley in recent fics only if Chuck is cast as an asshole, and he is :)) But seriously, it’s SO Regency. There’s letters, pining, propriety, and men in period suits. What more could you ask for?

Y’all probably gonna immediately peg who I am as a person when I say Always Together, Eternally Apart by EmiliaOagi 27k is probably one of my top ten Destiel fics.

Here’s the thing—Ladyhawke is probably my second favorite movie in the entire world beat only by The Princess Bride. (Seriously, if y’all wanna bribe me with anything, it will always be that.) NOT ONLY does EmiliaOagi beautifully incorporate the source material, but once more Dean Winchester is SO Dean Winchester it hurts. This piece is from Sam’s perspective, and his running inner monologue is both insightful and entertaining. If you’re unfamiliar with the plot of Ladyhawke, I refuse to spoil it for you. Some things must be experienced, and this is one of them. Either by reading this lovely work or by viewing the original film, you’ll understand the legend that so captivates me.

OH ANOTHER DELICIOUS ONE and it’s like in that vein of Retired Hunters But Not Yet Together Destiel is Welcome to Pine Shores! by andimeantittosting (Saylee) 20k

It’s always fun reading Dean character studies, and this is definitely one of them. So the long and short of it is PINING FOR DAYS (this was written for Pinefest) and Dean trying to set up Cas with other people because he thinks Cas might want more. Oh, and did I mention they’ve been running this motel for like thirteen years? And they share a bed? *Tropes Intensify*

There is also Dean Winchester and the Patron Saint of Blind Dates by goldenraeofsun 18k which I think some of y’all are familiar with.

Sort of what it says on the tin, to be honest, folks. Dean’s friends set him up with some blind dates and the bartender—Castiel—grips his Purple Nurple tight and raises him from perdition. (And no, it’s not a euphemism.) The dates are sort of outrageously in character and interestingly enough this is a Sam/Ruby fic too! I sort of liked how it played out in this piece. If you’re worried about the Sam/Ruby dynamic, fear not! They were both former addicts and have since been clean for (a year or two? I don’t recall the time frame.) Dean has a love/hate sort of relationship with an emphasis on hate with Ruby since she’s the one who got Sam into drugs (allegory for the demon blood) but she’s also the one to try to go clean first. I just thought that was an interesting take, and one I would’ve linked to have seen the show pursue to be honest, but Supernatural has to keep the hot ladies dead or villains or both haha ;)) I digress. It’s a smaller read but the subject matter is pretty heavy. From former religious cults to the former addicts, please keep in mind if mentions of these things make you uncomfortable. It’s definitely the one whose subject matter stuck out the most to me. So apologize if I’ve missed mentioning anything specific for y’all in the previous recs or this one.

WAIT THIS NAME LOOKS FAMILIAR!??! IT’S andimeantittosting (Saylee) BACK AT IT AGAIN BUT THIS TIME WITH The Winchester Affair 34k !!

SAYLEE YOU HAD TO MAKE IT ONTO THIS LIST TWICE. Another Regency, except this time Castiel is long time friends (with benefits *eyebrow wiggles*) with Dean. He’s in love with him, obviously, so this means that an asshole named Zachariah that we all know and loathe comes around planning to frame his poor sister (Hael) with stealing Mary Winchester’s brooch if Castiel doesn’t find some damning evidence on the Winchesters for him. DRAMA AHOY!!! This is a very harlequin/regency novel. It’s actually based off of a novel called Ware the Marquess as is the wont of the Destiel Harlequin Challenge. Very good challenge to check out; very excellent fic to read. And the author so nice we listed them twice. ;) SIDE NOTE: This is totally one of those Regency ones where It Simply Isn’t Done, if you know what I mean. Like, no one is outright slurring or something that I can recall (and it isn’t tagged so I doubt there is), but it Isn’t Done, But They Love Each Other Very Much.

So you guys know Scoobynatural is my comfort episode, right? Well, one of my favorite things that I’ve delightfully discovered is the trope of building off of Cas’ one-liner about being effin’ married, so have The Nikkah by Maxine (WinchesterPooja) 28k!

Reads like a Case-fic as there’s an entire sub-plot happening with Sam. So this story happens well within the canon despite being canon-divergent. This one does end happy!! There’s a view episode like fics I might rec that end in canon-fashion with Dean repression and I love the pining and all but sometimes I need sweet fandom closure. Long and short of it: Djinn culture? Djinn queen? Fake-relationships? Sam dealing with nightmares? This baby can fit SO MUCH ACTION into a fic.

Okay, so you know the fic with the Bee Movie allegory? (It’ll come up on this reclist.) This has the same vibe, except for the relationship is out of order and Dean is Diagnosed with If I Do It This Way It’s Okay. Yeah, it’s Command Me to Be Well by prosopopeya 28k

Human Cas, back from the dead, post-finale, and Dean is trying to figure out how to get his happy ending. I’ve seen this one make the rounds on fic rec’ing so I think it’s a bit familiar, but I enjoyed it. Even though—as my bookmark says—I usually don’t go in for hurt/comforts with heavy on the hurt because my poor heart can’t take it. This is one of my few exceptions. This one has a healthy dose of Castiel standing up for himself with the bittersweet tang of him literally willing to do so much for Dean. But it’s a Dean perspective, so it really deals with a lot of his inner thoughts.

This one is,,,, in a similar vein as Command Me to Be Well. I guess I was in a mood. Baby, Come On Home by woodenducks 9k.

IT’S SEASON NINE WITH A SIDE OF PINE. What more could you ask for angst? Human Cas in Rexford trying to make a life for himself when all he wants is to go home. But he’s also trying to figure out what home even is for him. There’s a lot of drama between Dean and Cas, because of course Dean wants him there. But blah blah angels and blah blah whatever excuse the writers wanted so we couldn’t have human Cas and Dean in the bunker. We KNOW obviously the only thing keeping canon Dean from snapping was the fact that Cas was not human around him. *heavy eyeroll*. Anyways, this is a heartbreaking read from Castiel’s perspective.

One of my favorite Rescue Cas from the Empty fics is (they'll never break) the shape we take by auroralynches (teresavampa) 9k.

There’s this super cool concept of how Castiel experiences his regrets within the Empty and how Dean navigates through them to get to Castiel. I really enjoyed it, and of course the greatest love story ever told has got to have SOME theatrics and sentiments that are definitely reflected in this fic. My point is, I really love when Empty Rescue fics include analyzing Castiel’s regrets, and this one does so but from Dean’s perspective. As in Dean is viewing Castiel’s memories and trying to perceive his regrets.

Sooooo Epistolary by tiamatv 9k eh?

I love love LOVEEEEEE epistolary fics. I love them. I’ll always read them. And I totally told you I loved tiamatv. This is probably another one for the top ten fics just because it plays into my things. Love letters, music, and misunderstandings, oh my!!

HERE’S A VERY SEXY TERRIBLE LIFE ----> Ties that Bind Us by TheTwistedWillow 13k

Okay, so BASICALLY what if It’s A Terrible Life happened in like, circa-season 13 and Castiel was thrown in with Dean Smith and Sam Wesson. Literally all that I wanted in this fic. I do mean it’s sexy, by the way. I can’t even begin to explain this fic beyond it’s Castiel’s perspective, and he has some awareness that something is off. And being inside Castiel’s head when he’s not Castiel gets me every time.

OKAY I KNOW THIS IS THE THIRD A/B/O FIC ON THIS LIST I KNOW I KNOW The Mills School for Distinguished Girls by SillyBlue 13k IS WORTH IT THOUGH?!?!

Alpha Dean Winchester is going off to war. In the meantime, his family still doesn’t know about his marriage to Omega Castiel (in fact, they still think Castiel is a Beta.) Male Omegas are very rare in this universe, and it is addressed along with the fact that just because Castiel might look different on the outside doesn’t make him any different than the girls. Which I thought was a thought-provoking interpretation. There’s prejudices here—a lot of them against women and omegas—and a temporary character death which actually moved me to tears. I bookmarked this saying bring the tissues; bring the tissues.

THE BEE MOVIE FIC THE BEE MOVIE FIC THE BEE MOVI— according to all known laws of life by sobsicles 29k sobsicles I owe you a great slice of pie.

Sobsicles, my beloved, my bestie <3 (am I allowed to say that? I mean it affectionately. Well and truly.) You REALLY got in my head with this one. This is literally such an insane read that I read it twice in a row. Yeah, whoops. Cas is back from the empty and Dean is an asshole about it because feelings are hard. Here is what I bookmarked this fic with: “Dean Winchester has issues. He gets through them. Like a Bull in a China Shop, but he gets through them. The metaphor works.” And that is EXACTLY what happens. Dean is such an asshole and I LOVE IT. 14yr me would cry at the concept of reading this but 14yr me is a tasteless bitch. This is where it’s at. Dean has so much he’s mentally working through and Cas won’t take no shit and Sam is tired. It’s great. I love it. I know we rec sobsicles left and right over here (and I know there’s a new one I haven’t read yet) but this one is really my favorite. And I know some people feel uncertain when fics/authors get popular in a fandom, so if this isn’t for you that’s okay!! But well and truly this is just one of those in the top ten Destiel fics of my heart.

I’ve seen this one rec’d before but not enough. Like this one SHOULD be talked about. Because I am a Baby Jack Truther, and putting a baby in the widower arc is my literal weakness. Dean goes crib shopping. He paints the nursery. He does that season 2&3 thing he does where he wrecks something so that he has to rebuild it. He’s mourning. He’s crying. Sam is afraid to hold a baby. There’s a lot of emotions and they’re raw. Promise there’s a happy ending, but be ready to cry first.

Another sam pov because i love my little brother Letters to Nowhere by Goodluckdetective (scorpiontales) 28k

AWWW YES. So this is another Empty Rescue fic. This one plays up the Orpheus and Eurydice lore, but in a surprising twist this is Sam’s POV!! Sam doesn’t know the full story, and we as the audience aren’t granted omnipresence for this fic either. It’s just point blank is his emotions. Him worrying for Dean, missing Cas, and wanting a happy ending for all of them. It’s sort of epistolary with how Sam is texting Castiel’s phone, but in general it is Sam Winchester wanting to save both of his brothers. So despite it being Destiel, the Destiel is almost the background ship since this story is Sam’s story and how Sam witnesses their story. It’s pretty meta in that sense, in that he’s aware there’s this grand story going on and we as an audience know there’s this grand love story happening, but we’re reading Sam’s story.

One of those i mentioned where its like an episode and they just end with tension between them >:((( but SO enjoyable and very much like an actual MotW Soul Searching by Lottiethroughthelookingglass 13k

It is in a screenplay format, but I didn’t mind that. It’s definitely a fun read! I thought the characterizations were pretty grand all-in-all. No get together though in this one if you’re looking for Destiel. Sorry. But it does make its way on to the list because we deserved a body swap episode and never got it.

Its SOULMATES BAYBEEEE!!! But it’s not destined Soulmates. It’s like… soul compatibility, but only AFTER you’ve forged the bond. Self-Made Soulmates as it were. Very achingly and lovingly sentimental. Like, I think I’ve read this one four times in one week? It’s the shortest rec on this list (and while I definitely have shorter works bookmarked, I wanted this rec list to be longer ones for some reason I guess) but it feels longer. Maybe because every paragraph is like a gut punch. egGH. It’s another Empty Rescue by-the-by and Dean’s soulmark (given to him by Cas after Castiel’s Despair Confession) helps get him into the Empty.

OHOHOH LEVERAGE AU!!?! The Jericho Job by giantteenwolforgy 20k

The first in a series and I am SO EXCITED FOR MORE. I absolutely adore Leverage, so seeing this was like clearing my skin with care products I’ve never used. The characterizations are amazingly well done and vivid. They feel so unbelievably real and it makes me an eager beaver to get to the meat of them connecting as a team and family, but the slow burn is well worth it.

I’ve always been a huge fan of metas that dissect Dean’s differeniation of need vs want, and this whole work was like one of those metas. It’s a Cas POV of him trying to figure out how to read this man that he knows so well. It pulls out the angst and it makes me ache, but promises there IS a happy ending and Dean WANTS it.

i was wondering, since you were here(tumblr) when s4 happened...how was it? i’ve read it was a disaster and everyone was blind mad and disappointed and many deleted on here and never came back :( so sad to see all that and the wasted hope and opportunities!! Steph, do you still think we’ll get a special? even if it’s a short one? our, and most specially their’s, deserved ending?

it just seems so surreal that you and some others are still so dedicated to the fandom and the motives, theories and contributing. I entered tumblr only a month ago and discovered it all and i just have this fear that everyone is going to vanish away

I THINK all of these are meant to be together since they were all sent in at the same time and seem to stack properly but if y’all are different Nonnies, I apologize!

So, the aftermath of S4 was a shitstorm, absolutely, because we did expect something so great from a show that, previously, only gave us high-quality content. So when we got what we got, initially it was “how to I theorize from this that makes no sense?” and then it progressively got worse as each episode aired. Once TFP did, a lot of us did just say fuck it and left, and a lot of others tried to make sense of things.

Some great theories eventually did come out of it if only so that S4 makes some sort of sense. I’m with the lot that thinks S4 was fucking garbage and the only way it makes sense to the narrative is if it was fake somehow (I genuinely don’t understand people who think that S4 was great and it’s some sort of mirror series that actually happened and isn’t fake, but not my place to gatekeep), so John’s Alibi / TAB / some blog theory makes the most sense to me logically.

I’m gonna be frank and honest here, and will probably lose friends and followers because of this; I think a lot of people left because of the toxicity from the hardcores. There were a lot of people who were genuinely hurt and didn’t want anything to do with the show but wanted to still interact with fandom, but the hardcores essentially shunned them like some weird cult and proclaimed those that “didn’t believe” weren’t “real fans” and the gatekeeping began anew. It was so fucking ridiculous. Fence-sitters like myself (there were quite a few of us after S4) also got criticized because we didn’t like S4 and had different reading on the show, and eventually a lot of them left too. It even drove out new fans who joined after S4. Eventually, the hardcores quieted down a bit and kept to their own spaces but they won’t let anyone have any dissenting opinions, which is rather sad and not conducive to creativity in my opinion.

The writers and artist now mostly make up the core fandom, because BOY after S4, people were DYING for anything to make S4 better, and the authors just surged in their popularity and creativity. So I’m actually really happy about that. These days most of the fandom oldies are here (the OG authors and artists and old-schoolers) who keep the fandom alive with their theories and stories and works, and I’m just a curator of fandom, nowadays. I still like to write meta and theorize, but a lot of meta writers are now authors, or have moved on from Tumblr to Twitter, (”why?” is the question... the format and timeline are terrible) which is a shitstorm all its own... I don’t like the format of Twitter so I never committed to it, I just use it to promote my lists and art.

Anyway, so yeah, that’s a bit of the fandom history from MY perspective. It’s different for everyone. I know some old-schoolers who are only recently coming back because the toxicity has died down and it’s mostly creative content nowadays. And new fans like yourself who come and get to soak in all of the past content. I envy you for missing out on the drama, really, and I hope you never have to experience it. Tumblr fandoms are a hellscape once shipping slash theory slash blogger wars break out.

That said, with regards to the special, this is a question that’s been asked for years, honestly. A lot of us have various theories, which you can read in my “secret episode” tag, and there’s some in my “twin theory” tag. My current thoughts on it is that they lost their opportunity to air a secret episode years ago, but I do hold out hope for a small nugget on August 8, the same day that TGG aired 10 years ago and officially marks the end of the 10 year anniversary, but I’m not holding my breath.

My thoughts are still generally the same as this post I did a few months ago. I really REALLY want to give Mofftiss the benefit of the doubt and say something happened behind the scenes that prevented a Johnlock ending, but it doesn’t make sense since it’s BBC and BBC Three was all over the “Johnlock 5evah” thing, so... yeah. And I know how Mofftiss are. So. Yeah, I’d love for it to be BBC Sherlock that confirms them as a couple, but I fear it’s not going to ever happen. We’ve got Furtive Festivity, and it’s gross-cute, and I’m happy with that. <3 Maybe Ritchie Holmes will be the ones to do it, but with Warner Bros the ones who get their fingers all over shit, and given their history-similar-to-Disney, don’t think it’s gonna happen either, even though all parties are open to it. :./

Anyway, Nonny, don’t apologize for the content of your ask; it’s my schtick to be approachable. I know a lot of people believe I’m faking it, but I’m really not. I’m lonely and you guys are all I’ve really got in my life, which is sad, but there it is. Helping you guys makes me feel better, though occasionally I do need the words of comfort directed at me too <3

And I’m sorry if anyone was offended by anything I said, because I know I do have a few followers who are people who liked S4 and who do tinhat still more than I, and I just want you to know I have NOTHING against y’all at all. Y’all ain’t going around shitting on people who didn’t like S4. I’m talking specifically people who drove others out of the fandom and didn’t make them feel like part of the family anymore.

We’re all entitled to our opinions, and it’s no one’s place to gatekeep.
