Spooky monks and Michael Sheen murals: behind the scenes of new BBC drama The Way

Michael Sheen says he wants viewers of his new drama The Way “to feel like what it has felt like for the last 10 years of living” in the UK.

That is, “in a society where you don't know if you're in a horror film or a sitcom,” he told viewers at a Q&A for the show on Monday night. “Something that feels life and death stakes suddenly goes incredibly surreal and absurd, and then goes back to being incredibly scary again.”

The Way, which is due to air in February, follows the Driscoll family in the old industrial town of Port Talbot on the Welsh coast. Estranged from each other, they nevertheless have to set out on a cross-country odyssey to safety when they become tied up with civil unrest in the area.

In addition to making a cameo appearance in the show, The Way also marks Sheen’s first directorial role.

“I was never going to direct it. And then they said it's going to be in Port Talbot and then I have to direct it,” he joked.

“And the original seed of the idea was, I had this idea about watching a British family being uprooted and you didn't know why. And having to kind of flee their homes and go on the journey across Britain and then get across the channel. So it was a sort of refugee journey in reverse to the way we normally see it.”

It is also a passion project for the Welsh actor, who grew up in and now lives in Port Talbot himself – while the cast, who are majority Welsh, mostly grew up in the same area.

“There was so much of him in it,” said Steffan Rhodri about Sheen, who plays dad Geoff Driscoll (and who went to drama school with him). “I mean, you see a bit of Port Talbot. The one bit you didn't see is a massive wall with a mural of him on it.”

Was it hard to film the show without including it? “It was very hard,” Sheen joked. “We came very, very close – I mean, we were literally around the corner from it, and Callum made me go and have a photograph with it between takes. So that was difficult.”

‘Callum’ is Callum Scott Howells, best known for his performance in Russell T Davies drama It’s A Sin. He plays the disaffected Driscoll son, Owen – whom we first meet as a lonely figure looking for connection, and who gets caught up in the riots that sweep the town.

“It says in the script, James put something like, ‘we don't know why at this point, but he's feeling something. He’s there now, and he’s present’. And that for me kind of said everything. Like he doesn't he doesn't even know why he's rioting, but he's doing it,” Howells said.

“That was something that I really kind of threw myself into, and Michael was great in allowing me to do that. Yeah, those riot scenes were so fun, we just got to go nuts, you know. I headbutted a riot shield… because I’m nuts.”

The show itself also features the writing talents of James Graham, best known for political film Brexit: The Uncivil War and BBC crime drama Sherwood.

“We talked collectively about not wanting a traditional dystopian future, which was, which was really grim and bleak,” he said. "I think we all got excited by imagining the reverse of that... what if it was the myths and the legends and the folklores that embed themselves in our national psyche. Do they trap us? Do they inhibit us?"

The end result, he said, was a "contamination of genres." Not just social realism: the second episode becomes "a road movie, or an adventure movie on foot.

"So you start to see these elements of the myths and legends that the family carry with them become those stories we grew up with like Watership Down and Wizard of Oz, and it becomes very fantastical and weird."

I’m currently watching all of the Spider-Man films on Netflix (which is confusing because there’s like 3 films that aren’t on Netflix, so the story doesn’t make sense to me) and my Media Studies teacher told me to illegally watch them.

D’you know what order to start marvel in? My friend told me to not watch them in the specific order (she never gave me the actual order, and google won’t tell me)

Oh, you have come to the right place!

Fun fact: I was a Spider-Man super fan when I was little. Literally, my three year old birthday party was a Spider-Man themed because I was absolutely obsessed with Tobey or I guess Peter Parker (There are even baby pictures of me with a spidey suit).

So first of all something you have to understand is that the Spider-Man movies are kind of like Batman. They have been rebooted several times and they have changed Spider-Man two times so far. That means we have three different Spider-Men: Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland (there are other vintage ones but they aren't that popular).

My personal favourite is Tobey, but I am biased, because he was the first one I ever met and the one that made me love spider-man. Now, that doesn’t mean I don’t absolutely love Andrew, because you know Remus <3

Now, onto the order!

I’d recommend approaching it on a release date order, although you can watch any of the different spider-men in any order as long as you follow the movie order for them.

So, let’s go through the different spider-men.

First of all, we’ve got Tobey: his movies are known as The Raimi trilogy and were what kickstarted the whole Superhero movie craze of the following decade (he’s a pioneer, my boy).

Names are super easy, you just need to find “Spider-Man + (Movie number)” and that’s it. There are three of them and number two is one of the most beloved Spider movies of all time (Tobey had some of the best Spider-man villains ever).

Then we have Andrew’s movies:

This are “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” (My little brother’s favourites).

Andrew was a great Spidey, and although his villains aren’t my favourites, he’s my second fav.

None of the previous movies are part of the MCU (Kind off)

Now onto the MCU, or Tom Holland’s trilogy. Tom is part of the MCU since he was created and the first time he appears on screen is in Captain America: Civil War (The third CA movie).

Although he is on this movie for like 15 minutes in total, it is pretty much the backbone of his story, so I'd definitely recommend giving it a watch. Besides my man Bucky Barnes is a big character on this one so <3

After that, you have his solo movies:

These are: Home Coming, Far From Home and No Way Home.

No Way Home will bring an interesting surprise since you've already marathoned all the other films.

So that's it, you can watch either the Raimi Trilogy or Andrew's movies first, just make sure you leave Tom's for the end (if you want to be as excited as me screaming like a crazy person in the theatre).

Now I'm not sure if your teacher also wanted you to watch these two, but Spider-man Across the Spiderverse and Into the Spiderverse are also spidey films, even though they are mainly focused on Miles Morales and not on Peter Parker.

Now, Miles is a different Spider-Man from a different universe, but that's a lot to do with a bit more technical multiverse things that you'll learn as you watch the other Spider-Man movies.

The animation on these ones is absolutely insane, and I love them, but I would wait until I've watched at least the Raimi Trilogy and the Amazing Spiderman movies to dive in. If you watch it after Tom Holland's movies though, you'll have a much better understanding of the Spiderverse by the time you enter this world.

Sidenote: Tell your Media Studies teacher that your internet friend thinks they're super cool for making you watch all the Spider-man films.

Movie Review | Civil War (Garland, 2024)

I’d initially written this off based on the dopey trailer, but after hearing some of what goes down in the movie and seeing a large swath of the internet be extremely annoying in their dislike, I figured it was worth a look if it was pissing off these types. I’m gonna talk some shit here, so you can skip down at least a paragraph if you want to read something a little more substantive, but I suspect the reason these people have been so vocal about not liking this is because they were looking to have the movie parrot their views back to them in as didactic a manner as possible. We simply can’t have movies deal with political subjects without spoonfeeding you what to think in as blunt a manner as possible, and it’s simply unacceptable to capture something about a political situation that doesn’t involve spelling out who’s bad or whatever, and quite frankly I think these people would be better off rubbing one out to their copies of whatever political publication they subscribe to.

I also think a lot of these types are just bad at reading movies. I just watched a streaming show that much of the internet seems to be creaming their jeans over (that I actually mostly enjoyed) that balked at presenting anything resembling ambiguity or conflicting emotional effects and proceeded to drown any scene that might be remotely thrilling with an ironic musical cue so you would know what to think. The fact that this doesn’t do that and will present you with something that might actually seem exciting and try to implicate you in the proceedings is probably frazzling some brains. The lazier critiques of this have been saying this is afraid of having ideas or points on the subject, but I do think there’s something interesting here about the journalistic process, and the ethics of getting the shot, and the tension between reporting the facts versus the sympathy or disdain you might have for your subjects. This takes after action-packed wartime journalism movies like Salvador and Under Fire, and I think the latter has probably the best scene out of any of these movies illustrating this idea, where all the reporters watch the city being bombed from the comfort of their hotel rooftop. (I think this is also less neutral than some of its detractors are claiming, and instead playing it like The Battle of Algiers where those we’re sympathetic to can still do unsympathetic things in war.) Anyway, I’ve bitched enough about the takes surrounding this movie, so I’ll instead point to two of the more thoughtful unpackings I’ve read of this movie (1, 2).

And sorry, maybe Alex Garland is a bit of a bozo in how he packages all of this and some of the things he’s said, but this movie is super entertaining. A good chunk of the movie plays like Borat but if all the people had assault rifles and would kill you in an instant. There’s a sense of surrealism here, with images from the last few years remixed after being swirled in the subconscious, peppered with additional, sometimes bizarre details to flesh out the world (the Antifa Massacre, high value Canadian dollars, Portland Maoists , Florida being part of Central America, Texas presumably having gone Blue). Or the scene where they’re caught in sniper fire near some country side attraction turned roadblock, and the soldiers they talk to are being super condescending in answering any questions. One of the highlights of the movie has Jesse Plemons looking like a tactical Elton John but also being super scary, and the movie is, knowingly or otherwise, mining that dissonance for a surreal charge. I won’t spoil how the scene ends, but I laughed out loud, which from me is an endorsement. Maybe I was laughing through a good chunk of this, but that meant I was having a good time.

And the climax fucking rocks, the Western Forces going into DC, their tanks and helicopters mowing down any sorry ass Secret Service bastards they run into (see one of their limos get royally owned when an entire unit opens unloads on it), and eventually having to shoot it out in the White House. You know Garland was watching Black Hawk Down and going “This is so sick” and then awkwardly adding “…but also very serious” when his sourpuss viewing partner caught his reaction. It honestly feels videogamey to me, both the shooting game gunplay at ground level and the RTS-style overhead pans. The budget here (high for its studio but low for blockbusters) means that there’s a good amount of CGI assistance, but when it’s in the service of cool helicopter shit, I ain’t complaining. (I also think the lower budget influenced the episodic structure of the movie, which I again think works in its favour.)

With the gawking view of Trump… sorry, Offerman country and the queasy triumph of the closing stretch, this feels like a paranoid fantasy for a certain kind of liberal, like Red Dawn for MSNBC viewers. And it also kinda owns, if you’re okay for a filmmaker to go bozo mode on a potentially serious subject. I’d joked earlier that I would have been more inclined to watch this had it been called Trumpmerica 2025 or something like that, but the results are a lot closer to what I imagined. This is primo exploitation, like if a Tubi original somehow had serious money and filmmaking prowess pumped into it.

twd series finale spoilers

ok for the first 45 minutes i was getting worried because all the action was happening and i was questioning how will they wrap everything up?? it felt a bit fast paced for those 45 minutes, but i think i only felt that way because i knew this was the end.

once all the action was over and the scenes became more sentimental, that’s when i felt relief that okay i think this is actually going to be a good finale

rosita’s death had me bawling my eyes out 😭😭 i saw a spoiler, so i knew she was going to die, but regardless it made me sob and the way they filmed her last moments was just heart-wrenching

the scene of luke’s death where kelly, connie, magna, and yumiko were all together crying also made me cry a lot. the acting was amazing in that scene

idk i personally think they should’ve killed pamela, but i guess they wanted to put her in jail to show they’re making a pivot in the way they do things and aren’t going to just constantly kill everyone

i love that ezekiel became governor and that mercer became lieutenant governor!!

yumiko and magna getting back together is something that is very important to me!! love a win for the gays <3

daryl and carol telling each other that they love one another was so <3 <3 i love their friendship and watching the journey of their characters over the past 11 seasons has been such a delight. i’m not someone who was rooting for them to start dating (not that i would’ve cared if they did date!) but i just always saw them as really good friends and family than romantic partners, so for me i loved their ending. i do just wish daryl didn’t run off alone because i wish he would finally just settle in one place and be with his family instead of always on the go, but i understand for the spin-off they needed him to leave

the tribute of all the characters who have passed made my heart heavy. so many characters i loved passed away in this show, but that’s the reality of life. the ones we love will die and we will have to try to find a way to move on without them

daryl saying “we ain’t the walking dead” was kind of corny to me lol. sometimes the title of a show or movie being included in the dialogue works, but sometimes it doesn’t and this was one of those moments where i don’t think it was necessary for the title to be said in the show lol

RICK AND MICHONNE!!!!!! my favs are finally coming back to me! seeing them made me smile soooo much. i’m so fucking excited for this spin-off and to see where rick has been all these years

the conversations between negan and maggie in s11 have been really intriguing to me. this final convo between them was touching because all i have ever wanted is for maggie to be okay and knowing that she is in a place where yes, she’ll never forgive negan, but she can begin her journey to coexist with the grief and heal makes me happy for her. i am also very excited to see what their spin-off is going to entail as their dynamic is very interesting and they set up their relationship very nicely to make you want to tune in into their spin-off

overall, it was a good finale. i won’t say it’s exceptional or anything, but i enjoyed it and it did what it needed to do. it had its last battle, people died, people mended relationships, people were saved, the show ended with showing the progress that’s been made in their communities and that life goes on. it felt like a real-life ending about civilization experiencing a zombie apocalypse. it was years and years of experiencing grief, death, loneliness, greed, war, corruption, starvation, fear, hard-work, survival, and love in such a damaged, chaotic world which all eventually led to finding a way to actually being able to create a world filled with civility, stability, and democracy.

Songs for Hazbin Hotel Characters (Playlists Series)

PART 2

Alright, next instalment, let’s go! For this one, I would love to discuss and put into their respectful playlists songs from a movie series that I consider dear to my soul. Let me introduce to you (or remind about) the Guardians of the Galaxy, films with the most awesome soundtrack!

I’ll admit, I was a huge MCU fan a few years ago but not so much anymore. I’m patiently waiting for the third GOTG volume, though! So, let me take you into these oldies but goodies songs’ journey! This part shall consist of being based on how much Hazbin characters would enjoy MCU movies, a song that would be up to their alley, plus – their favourite heroes.

A little disclaimer: I believe that probably nobody in this cast would be a huge superhero movies genre fan but that does not mean that they would not be fond of some of them!

HUSK

He is the one who most likely would enjoy MCU, in my opinion. Husk just seems like an action movie fan to me. You know that airport fight scene in “CA: Civil War”? That would be the highlight for him.

Just imagine him cleaning his bar and humming this song.

Favourite hero – Rocket Raccoon. I think that Husk would love this character and see some similar traits in himself.

CHARLIE

I’d like to think that Charlie is that person who gets excited about any possibility to expand her knowledge on anything, let it even be super hero movies. She would love seeing all the stories, laughing at funny moments and crying during death scenes. (I bet that she definitely read fanfics about found family/happy ending tropes in Avengers or Guardians).

She must have a musical number prepared in addition to this song, right?

Favourite hero – Spider – Man. Being a “kid” in a grown – up super hero work would be kind of a familiar setting for Charlie.

VAGGIE

She would enjoy most of these movies, plus some nostalgia would take a part in there. She was never in MCU fandom but understands why people love this series. Definitely did some quizzes with Charlie and Husk, like “Which Avenger are you?”, “Which MCU Team you’re on?” and much more to count.

This would be her “go to” happy song. A duet with Charlie, perhaps?  

Favourite hero – Black Widow. One of the strongest characters who does not need to rely on extraordinary powers.

ANGEL

His feelings about these movies would be 50/50. Some he would love; some don’t even give a chance. For the ones that he did like, Angel would comment about how useful or useless the fighting/weapons would be in Hell. I bet that he took some inspiration for the future Turf wars!

This song gives strong Angel vibes! Plus, named after his bestie!

Favourite hero – Loki. Yes, not exactly a hero, more of an antihero. Angel would enjoy watching his endeavours and overall story.

NIFFTY

She only agrees to watch these for the good – looking characters. Nothing more, nothing less. She is not interested in action, magic or world saving. Since there is not a lot of romance in MCU or it is pretty plain, Niffty quickly gets bored.

Niffty would sway and dance around to this song!

Favourite character – Thor. He is the best looking one for her. Plus, wonderful sense of humor.

ALASTOR

These movies are not this man’s cup of tea. Nope. He views them as a waste of time. Alastor would have only seen a few because of “A Must” movie night with others. He doesn’t care about the plot nor the characters. Shows a bit of interested during some funny dialogue, but that happens rarely.

Okay, it is a bit unconventional for him, but! Just skip the love parts and consider this as a song about business (friendship, if you squint) with Charlie. Like in the start of the series he means this only as a necessity, later it becomes genuine.    

Favourite hero – Doctor Strange. I just feel like Alastor would be pleased with this character.

“He’s got himself somethin cookin but nobody really knows what his game is yet. Speakin of problems, the Church sure does have it’s fair share! See Sister May activated the Ascension Protocol which let the Templars elect a temporary First Templar. Considerin the old one up and vanished. Some folks don’t believe they were ever even real.”

“Brother Julius got elected and some church folks were none too happy. The High Priestess however didn’t seem to mind one bit. Julius is still the acting First Templar as no one has had enough votes to replace him yet.”

“Brother Julius is still searchin for that secret underground cathedral and thinks he has a few leads so more and more expeditions have been taking place. I imagine they are gonna find somethin sooner than later. But there’s still a lot of internal conflict goin on!”

“Now for the first time in a long time the secretive nation of Crepusculum agreed to trade relations with Apricus, and some other nations out there! They were even allowed to set up some shops right here in Apricus! Some people are real excited over that but others still don’t trust em. Doctor Xanthos, Lord Merek, and High Priestess Lucianna were the “no” votes on the council when lettin Crepusculum in was put to a vote.”

“Mr. Eckerman announced the Hecaball World Cup which kicked off, attracting teams from all over the world. It’s about to wrap with only the semi-finals and the finals left to go. Needless to say this has meant Apricus has gotten A LOT of tourists.”

“We’ve also got ourselves a race to the hidden sea goin on! Some of the pirate lords have claimed they found the entrance and now it’s everyone for themselves. We got the pirate lords, the navy, and every amateur treasure hunter you can shake a stick at all headin out to sea lookin to find some hidden booty!”

“We’ve also learned a lot about what once was in the hidden sea. A super cool civilization ahead of it’s time, a bunch of pirate vaults, a rock made of special metal that fell from the sky, and some creepy intelligent bug monsters.”

“Ya know yours truly has a movie coming out soon! Morely & Friends: Enter The Tacoverse is hittin theaters end of August! Don’t miss it!”

“Finally some more fun facts and history was recently revealed! Including a talk about the Emperors, the most powerful people said to exist! What kind of menu items do you think they’d like? We learned about some incredible troops the empire made near the end of the war, we finally heard some details about the nation of Völsung, and it seems that that evil mastermind Janus Windsor is up to somethin!”

I haven’t been writing anything this year, sadly. It’s been quite hard to put anything on paper after spending hours writing the most mundane emails at work on outlook. But I’ve been making edits on capcut when I have time. Cutting a scene down and placing them to the beat just tickles something in my brain. My most recent one - the jwds Francesca, Hozier edit - is my favourite.

what’s something you’re currently obsessed with?

Trigun stampede!! It’s brainrottingly good. I can’t get over vashwood and the rare pair kniveswood has me in chokehold. If you’ve watched it, please talk to me about it 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

I wasn’t excited about doing my driving test, it was something that I just really needed to get out of the way because I’ve left it for too long, but I failed and I’m kind of gutted about that because I almost passed!

No, but you don’t need the fear of god when you’ve grown up in a traditional conservative Asian household…😭

I saw a deadline article saying Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia all have sequels in the works. It made me think about how I feel sad for Toy Story. I watched the movies a lot as a kid (apparently; I don’t remember — these are my mothers words you have to trust) but I don’t have much love for them. I think they’re objectively very well made. Even the fourth is well made on a storytelling and technical level (in a sort of vacuum, I’ll get there). But every movie after 3 feels sad. Like they’re being announced as proof of ROI to investors, not a good story to make. The third might have also fallen under that end of things as well.

The first two Toy Story movies came out at a time when Cinematic Universes were not common. As far as I know the more common practice was of a shared world/universe or a shared setting of some kind. Things like how maybe all the Pixar movies connect and some have a real Pizza Planet car in them. Very reference based, in the background. Enjoyable to those who notice but not a sticking point (or marketing point). Which, to me, is what makes these new projects feel more hollow. Their original idea goes beyond analysis. The story gets incredibly complex in the overall look because somehow these toys have to say goodbye to a major part of the original movie AGAIN. This is what makes the storytelling fall flat in TS4. While most of the movie is technically, logistically INCREDIBLY well made, the ending falls flat. We watched the toys say goodbye before, it was a big part of the third movie. In fact, outside of the movie the audience related MORE to that goodbye because most assumed there would not be a forth installment in the Toy Story series. Extratextually, this final goodbye is equal to the toys and the audience. It was a very powerful moment…that has become less powerful since it actually wasn’t the final goodbye. The story has been extended beyond its natural end.

Zootopia! This is a different fucking movie by a lot. This movie came out the SAME YEAR as Captain America: Civil War. The MCU has arrived and will not leave. The story of this movie is clear made to serve as a way to display an entire world of animal interaction that had been worked on long before the movie came out. There were initial plans to make more movies/series in the world. There was an idea about an island where all the birds you didn’t see in the movie are floating around. And after watching this movie I was left wanting more. This is a slight dig at the movie and a true feeling of being excited about this world. (Confession: animals are my special interest and I will pay 100x more attention to every aspect of something of the characters are animals) So clearly I’m biased but also the movie was designed with the intention of being a UNIVERSE. It was a selling point as it had been established by the MCU for the people who give movies money. It’s added movies feel way too late, it feels like the movie didn’t return on investment the same way the MCU did and instead of investing in the new IP to create fondness it prioritized what made them money in the short term (because all public companies require constant growth with no limit because capitalism has festered like a horrible disease in this nation).

Frozen is weird. It doesn’t have the built in wider world that Zootopia has but it’s continued existence does feel like it’s pushing past the boundaries of its story like Toy Story does. Frozen, as a basic idea, had been in the minds at Disney for decades and in the works since 2008 (with a small development break until Tangled did well and then they moved the idea to a 3D project). The movie was not expected to be…what it became. The productions since then have felt like scraping the bottom of the barrel because this franchise made Disney so much money they can’t leave it behind. That would scare the investors (they’re skittish). The second movie got rushed to release which meant it’s a lot of set up for no real payoff that makes sense.

Funnily enough, the original frozen idea began from an idea of looking at an act of true love differently than other Disney movies, which is what ultimately happens at the end of that movie. Productions past it, especially undeveloped and rushed productions, have LITERALLY moved past the original idea. It mirrors the transition into cinematic franchises that came around the same time of it’s release. For context, Frozen’s release year also included: Iron Man 3; Man of Steel; Monsters University; THE SECOND OF THREE FUCKING HOBBIT MOVIES; F&F 6; and fucking Oz the Great and Powerful. The movies making money/being funded were with IPs and we’re with shared universes. The development of this movie took long enough that the media landscape changed and it impacted every sequel frozen will ever have.

I don’t know what to do with all of this but like…it’s saddening. Many franchises are extending beyond their natural stopping point (I haven’t said Endgame yet but I’ll say it here) and there are movies made to be franchises being passed up and rarely given the chance to forge fondness for the original world. This is just a constant cycle that “proves” the belief that only IPs make money more. As long as we have our power set the way we have it I don’t see the system changing anytime soon. Just kinda sucks.

Marley goes with the boys to the park, thinking they’re just there for a picnic or a nice hike

Shawn: What’s with the binoculars? Marley: Birdwatching. I bought my pocket guide too, fits into the bag perfectly, see? Shawn: Amazing. How old are you again? Marley: Shut up, it’s a fun and interesting hobby Shawn: Not the words I would use, but sure, if you say so

She’s thrilled once she sees the civil war rehearsal

Marley: Oh sweet, this is just like that episode of South Park! Or The Simpsons! Gus: Does all your knowledge of American culture come from tv shows? Marley: Movies too Gus: And is that Lassiter? Shawn: Yes, it is Gus: What died on his face? Marley: Huh, didn’t take him for a LARP’er

When Shawn makes their presence known to Lassiter, Marley sends him a friendly little wave

Back at the site of the reenactment after the meeting down at the police station, Shawn catches them up on the situation

Shawn: Gus, she was hot, and she was dressed as a nurse. You know how I feel about that. [Noticing Marley’s side eye] I say with the utmost respect for the profession

She agrees with Shawn’s hunch that this is a murder case

Marley: There’s no reason for live ammunition to be anywhere near this place, and with most of the people being cops, I would hope that they would be able to tell the difference between real and fake bullets. This had to be intentional

Sitting on the bridge watching Lassie give his orders

Lassiter: Find something amusing? Shawn: Mildly amusing. More odd. Delightful, in a queer sort of way Marley: [Nodding along] I find it cute how seriously you take all this Shawn and Gus: [Send her a questioning look, Lassiter and cute not going together in their minds] Lassiter: [Is taken aback by her comment, taking a second before continuing] Lassiter: What are you guys doing here anyway? Gus: I’m a bit of a civil war buff Marley: I just love this kind of stuff

She continues to be impressed by Shawn’s memory and perception, struggling to believe he memorised the war map so quickly and was able to recreate it in their office

Having agreed to cover a co-workers shift at the hospital, she misses the trip to the dentist, but when Shawn approaches her the next day with his plan to infiltrate the camp she is immediately on board

Seeing all the cool stuff in Mahoney’s collection, and being a history lover herself, she struggles to pay attention to what they’re saying

Marley, practically vibrating with excitement: Is this real C-4? Is it authentic? Gus: Better yet, is it even legal? Mahoney: For the reenactments. We fudge the fireworks sometimes. Our audience goes wild every year when the fake cannon fire showers them with dirt Marley: That’s so fucking cool Gus: [Clears throat] Marley: Sorry. I mean, that’s really cool

Due to the lack of remaining women’s roles in the battle, Marley ends up acting as a soldier (tying her hair back and wearing fake mutton chops), much to Gus’ displeasure

Gus: Why do I have to wear all these tassels and feathers, while she gets a regular uniform? Marley: Gus, buddy, I’d swap with you if I could but I think it’ll be a bit of a squeeze on your end Gus: What are you trying to say, Marley? Marley: Nothing! You’re just a lot broader in the shoulders than the guy this costume was intended for Gus, to Sally: Maybe you could alter it? Sally: I’m sorry Gus, it’s just not possible Shawn: Well, I think you look great Gus: Be quiet, Shawn

She admonishes Shawn for bringing his tv and portable stove with him, saying it goes against the whole idea of camping out, but can’t deny the temptation of his gaming system

When they find out Sally is the target after investigating the field and tree

Gus: Why would someone want to kill Sally Reynolds? Marley: Well, she works in insurance Shawn: So? Marley: Money is a good motive for murder, top 10, some would say Gus: But she only writes the policies, she doesn’t gain anything Marley: I don’t know, but I’m sure it plays into it somehow

They steal Sally’s dress, with the intention of putting Marley in her place but they’re stopped by Juliet, who refuses to let them endanger themselves

After Juliet comes out unscathed and they find Mahoney’s uniform on the other side of the hidden tunnel

Shawn: Wait. This doesn't track. Why kill Sally? She's hot, they're friends. She even wrote his insurance policy [Explosion] Marley: That was the C-4! Shawn: That didn't come from the battlefield, it came from the south [All three of them share a look] Shawn: I solved the crime! Gus: No, I did! Shawn: I said it first Gus: I identified the uniform Shawn: I found the button near the tree. I said it first. Tap, tap, no take-backs Marley: Guys! You’re forgetting something very important! Both: What? Marley: I solved it yesterday!

Back at the station, as Lassiter passes the three of them to leave the room after wrapping up the case

Lassiter: Excuse me… [pauses to look Marley up and down, the woman still in her uniform, sans the hat] gentlemen…

Imma be completely honest, I’m literally only here as a Marvel Fan because of MK and WWBN, the writing of everything else is atrocious.

This is my fifth year being an mcu fan so i definitely have not been following it since the beginning but those two definitely are the best of phase 4.

I know this isnt' what u asked for but i'm bored here are my ratings for phase 4:

Moon Knight. I'm not going to write all the reasons i love it bc that would turn into an entire essay lol but this show is phenomenal and has captured my heart and soul

Werewolf by Night. again, just like moon knight, it's creative and cinematic and perfect in every way

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It's funny, got good action, emotional parts, and i live for shang and katy's relationship. they're so funny and i'm eternally glad they didn't force them into a weird romance

Ms. Marvel. the kids were written like kids and kamala is so dorky and cute. i know a lot of ppl didn't like her for some reason but she also lives in my heart

Hawkeye. This is just bc im one of those comic book nerds and have read every single hawkeye book and have merch and stuff lol I'm a diehard fan and loved pointing out all the little details even if it deviated from the comics

Black Widow. I think people are right that Yelena did steal the show a little bit but i love it anyway. It always makes me cry. every time.

Thor: Love and Thunder. I liked this movie! I saw it in theaters multiple times and enjoyed it. I can see the reasons behind people's critiques and do agree that the first half felt a bit weirdly paced but the second half really saved it for me

WandaVision. I'm just a sucker for Wanda and Vision lol They were my first mcu ship and i'm glad they finally got a spotlight. ppl complain abt the ending but i thought it was pretty good

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I loved seeing all the different dynamics that came up in this show and the real world problems it addressed. It also made me cry. I loved Sam and Bucky but Karli really stole the show for me and I was on her side the whole time lol

What If...? I actually really liked the reimagining of the characters and the odd pair ups. It was fun to see all the new interactions we would never get in canon. I think the watcher was weird and didn't need to fight ultron but the rest of it was good. Also the animation was beautiful. I was on the edge of my seat trying to get a better look at it the whole time lol

Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was a really good movie but I haven't seen all the og spider man movies so i didn't know who a lot of the villains were. and peter could have thought his little stunt at the end through a bit more but oh well. Still funny though

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It was really exciting to see America (i'm also a fan of her comics) but really I was rooting for wanda the whole time lol Ofc I knew that america would live bc they need her for the young avengers but it was really fun seeing wanda be in her villain era. they did her dirty at the end tho and basically had her learn the lesson she just learned in wandavision... which was also the lesson she learned in civil war. when will they give my girl a new arc? also i'm in denial, I refuse to believe she's dead :) (and also dr strage was in it too ig)

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. This was fun, I had a good time. It was really funny and finally confirmed that peter and mantis were siblings but i don't think i'll watch it any time other than christmas (unlike werewolf by night which is a year round event lol)

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. ok this one got a lot of hate but i don't see why? i didn't think it was bad, i just wasn't gripped by the story. i only watched up to episode three so i can't judge the whole thing but it was a bit too slice of life-y for me to be engaged w the story but as far as i can tell, that's jen's thing. The parts that i did see weren't poorly written and it's not the shows fault the animation was so bad (cough marvelwon'tlettheiranimatorsunionize cough)

Eternals. Same problem as she hulk. it wasn't bad, it just wasn't interesting. I only made it through half the movie before i left but i was really confused by who was who. i kept getting them mixed up

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The only reason this is so low is because I haven't seen it yet. I've heard nothing but glowing reviews so i'm sure it'll go up to the top of the list but i can't judge it until i see it

Loki. I hate this show, i hate it so much. I am so fucking mad abt this bc it had so much potential! I've also read the loki comics and i think those set my bar too high. yes, the show acknowledges loki is bi but they make him fall in love with another version of himself instead of doing anything w that. yes, they acknowledge he's genderfluid but we never see it, not even in flashbacks. he's trying to redefine who he is and stuff but i was so distracted by the horrible self-cest romance, that i was actively rooting against, to notice character development. If you want a good story about a bisexual, genderfluid loki redefining themself in the most beautiful way, read the Loki: Agent of Asgard comic run

So I’m currently doing this HUGEEEE history project on the southern colonies from like 1585-1732 (ish) and ummmm yeah here’s a recap (keep in mind, we’re doing a bunch of mini-skits and the whole thing had to be at least 30 min…):

Roanoke

Ok so I wrote this script by myself. It’s my baby. Anywayssss here’s what happened:

Raleigh was like “hey Lizzie, I have this really cool idea you should send some people over to the new world” and Queen Elizabeth was like “okie dokie” and some people went. Then they came back and were like “yooooo roanoke is so awesome like here are some natives that definitely willingly came over here (/sarcastic)” and then Raleigh was like “seeeee. You really should help me y’know explore the land and stuff” and Queen elizabeth was like “yeah ok you can go just find other to pay for it” and Raleigh felt a little betrayed but he was rich so he had contacts. And then he hires this Greenville guy and everyone (except Raleigh) goes over and then Greenville gets the natives to hate him and then he says “peace out” and leaves. Then Francis drake comes and all the colonists are like “yeah we’re literally starving take us back to England” and so there’s no one left. Then Raleigh finds this John white guy whos willing to go and then he goes with a couple people. Whites daughter gives birth to the first child born in america with English parents and then John white says “peace out…but cuz of Spain” and then *spongebob voice* three years later *end spongebob voice* he comes back and no ones left and he’s like “what happened” and yeah…that’s it. Oh and Raleigh gets his head cut off :)

People came. Then they starved. John smith became a dictator and raided the natives’ villages. More starving and death. Tobacco was harvested. Pocahontas advocated to the “civilization” of the natives in England (and then she died). More people came. The head right system. Andddd that’s all I remember

Oglethorpe (best last name in my opinion) wanted a military boundary between Spanish Florida and the Carolinas. He also wanted a place for debtors to go and start a new life (most of the people who went to Georgia were just poor farmers and stuff). He was really scared of a rebellion so he made a bunch of rules (ex: no slaves, no rum, no Catholics, you only get a certain amount of land, etc). The colonists weren’t happy about it. Eventually Georgia failed and was placed in the hands of the king. And the rules actually stunted the growth of the colony so it didn’t progress as rapidly as other colonies

So it’s a wrap on filming Captain America Civil War another marvel movie in the works and I had a free day afterwards and I remembered that dodger was gonna need more dog food and I went to go ask the director where a good pet store was and he said “ten minutes south of your hotel close to the mall” I said “oh, perfect ok great thank you sir I’ll check it out.”

I got to the pet store and looked around and found Dodger’s favorite stuff and I looked around at the dog toys to see if anything caught my eye for him but I didn’t really see anything so I started heading to checking out and I see a beautiful woman who looks really familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it. The woman said “hi are you all- wait, Chris?? Chris Evans?? No way! it’s me Y/N, I use to live by you.”

I got excited and said “oh!! Y/N L/N?! That Y/N?” I hugged Y/N tight & She nodded and said “yes! Yay you do remember! What are you doing this far from home?” I put everything on the checkout counter and had flashbacks of flirting with this woman and doing everything together and I couldn’t help but smile at her and I said “oh I just filmed a new movie here in town and needed more food for my dog you remember Dodger.” She scanned everything and put everything in a bag and I paid and she said “aww yes Dodger is such a loyal dog to you, so is that everything?” I wanted to ask her out but I was so nervous.

I picked up the bag and said “no well would you maybe umm..” Y/N waited for me to finish and I laughed nervously and I said “it’s so good to see you Y/N would you wanna grab a coffee before I leave and maybe catch up?” Y/N looked surprised but then smiled while nodding and said “yea I’d like that a lot, I can’t believe I got to see you wow you look great Chris, here let me give you my number and we’ll meet wanna have dinner after I get off?” I handed her my phone and said “That sounds perfect doll, I believe it’s fate that brought me here what do you think?” Me trying to flirt with Y/N gosh she probably thinks I’m weird I haven’t seen her in so many years.

She handed me back my phone after putting her number in it and smiled at me shyly and said “yea it’s Definitley possible Chris you never know, see you later.” I walked out feeling sorry happy to see her again and who knows maybe something can finally happen we’ll see.

inherited from her mother (Selene, Greek Goddess of the Moon) Her father was a human and nothing is known about him.

 ·         Illusionary Magic: can easily fool her enemies with force fields and illusions. Her go to attack is she summons a pack of black dogs and sends them to hunt down her enemies relentlessly, they will not stop until her target has been eliminated. - Usually, this illusion is so powerful that it makes the victim insane.

 ·         Madness Magic: her illusions are so vivid and real to the victim (whatever she can conjure in her head, punishments or illusions of grandeur) that they make the victim go insane instead of killing the victim.

o   Unless the die of other circumstances, falling off cliffs, heart attacks, etc.

 o   Downfall: if she is trying to escape or hide her enemies can still smell and hear her.

 ·         Psychic Dreams: Has the power to see into peoples’ pasts when she dreams. She has only dreamt about people who were in her close proximity. She cannot see into the future. She does not always dream psychically, and it happens at random.

Y/n got up from the couch, grabbing her phone that was ringing. She sang with the tone, 'America! Fuck yeah! Born to save the mother fuckin' world yeah!' And she giggled when she answered the phone. Her free hand flapping away happily at the excitement that Steve, one of her Alpha's was on the other end.

 "Steve! Are you coming home? Ooooo can I pick the movie? It's F-F-Food Friday you know! We have to have lots of food on Food Friday, right B-B-Bucky?" She said fumbling with the hem of her shirt, twirling it like hair in her fingers. Her face was so alight with joy, Bucky was melting.

 "That's absolutely right, Doll." He said getting up from the couch. The former Winter Soldier crouched as he embraced Y/n from behind. He purred loudly in her neck, leaving soft kisses on his claim mark.

 "I'll be home soon. Two hours or so, alright?" Steve stated over the phone.

 “M’kay. See you soon. I l-l-love you.” Y/N said.

 “See you soon, Punk.” Bucky spoke into the microphone between kisses, a short response to his Alpha, something to tease him a bit.

“Love you too, Jerk. Bye.” Steve hung up with an audible chuckle, leaving his mates to fend for themselves for the next two hours.

 Bucky switched sides on Y/n's neck, to kiss and nibble on Steve's claim. He trailed kisses up to Y/n's jawline and stopped, noticing something was wrong.

 "How are you feeling 'mega?" Bucky asked pulling away from her slightly. Y/n's gaze settled on the floor.

  “I’m sorry about my stuttering p-problem.” Y/N confessed, twiddling with the hem of her shirt. Bucky halfway growled and spun her around kissing her forehead.

 “You know me and Steve don’t care about that. It’s not a problem. So don’t worry about it, Love. Every. Single. Piece. Of you. Is. Perfect. Tell you what, how about I let you do whatever you want to me so you forget about those bad thoughts. We can pick a movie too until Alpha comes home. Does that sound fun?” Bucky suggested kissing whatever part of her skin was within reach.

 Y/N’s face lit up and she grabbed for Bucky’s hands, squeezing them slightly.

 “Anything? Really?” She asked him.

 “Yep anything.” He replied and she giggled kissing him back.

 Steve closed the front door as quietly as he could. Bucky managed to text him, that Y/N had fallen asleep on his lap. Steve was surprised Bucky was able to figure out texting so fast in the first place. Steve took his shoes off at the front door, so that he didn’t make any sound on his hardwood floors. The low hum of a TV show played. One of Y/N’s favorites, Charmed. Even though Y/N says it’s an old program, it was new to Bucky and Steve.

 Steve Rounded the corner and into the kitchen, sets his bag and keys down on the counter gently. In the light of the TV Steve can see something weird about Bucky’s hair. Steve came around to the front of the couch to find his Omega fast asleep on Bucky’s lap. Steve’s face relaxed just looking at her. She was so precious and cute when she slept. Looking at Bucky’s nails, which had been painted in rainbow colors, each nail a different color. Even his metal arm was painted. Steve couldn’t contain a smile.

 Bucky stared back at him, unamused. Steve made eye contact with his lover and he almost burst into laughter. Bucky’s long hair was tied into several glittery bows. If Steve didn’t know any better, he would have thought Bucky lost a bet.

 “What happened to you?” Steve whispered questioningly.

 “Y/N was nervous, I told her she could do anything she wanted to me to get rid of it. This was not what I expected.” Bucky said rolling his eyes but smiling down at Y/N.

 “I really like this look for you. Makes you look sexy Alpha.” Steve teased.

 “Yeah, fuck you too. You’re next.” Bucky bit back. Steve chuckled lightly at Bucky’s sass.

 “She was self conscious about her stuttering today. She doesn’t realize how that’s not an issue, you know?” Bucky said in a hushed tone.

Steve shook his head and quirked his lips to the side.

 “I think I’m ready, Steve. I love her so much. I know you do too.” Bucky said with a warm expression on his face.

 “Ready?” Steve asked his eyebrows stitching together in confusion.

 “C’mon, Cap. You can’t tell me you don’t want pups with Y/N.” Bucky said.

 “Oh! Um. Well I haven’t thought about it recently. I mean I have thought about it before. I just never thought I would hear you say it.” Steve’s face was reddening, and he was flustered, caught off guard by the suggestion.

 “She’d be such a great mom. I can’t wait to see her all beautiful, heavy, and glowing. But there’s something I have to do first.” Bucky said a tinge of sadness in his voice at his last sentence.

 “What do you mean?” Steve asked.

 “I gotta go under again Steve. I’m not …myself.” Bucky trailed off.

 “I respect your decision. Whatever you chose I’m with you. But, uh, your choice is going to tear her apart, you know?” Steve said scratching at the back of his head.

 “I know. I hate it but, If I hurt you again, or Y/N? I’d never be able to forgive myself. I gotta get better somehow, then we can have our pups.” Said Bucky.

 “Alright. Sooner you’re under the sooner you’re back to us.” Steve gave a weak smile.

 “Thank you, Alpha.” Bucky sighed, his own thoughts weighing on him.

 “Love you too, Buck.” Steve said standing to his feet and stretching. “I’m gonna take a shower, we’re gonna watch a movie right?”

• You and Wanda met when she was on the run after the events of Civil war. She did her best to not stay in one place for too long, always fearing someone would recognize her and turn her in.

• You bumped into her one dark and quiet night, staring down at your phone with tears in your eyes, re-reading the message your girlfriend (well now ex-girlfriend) sent you, profoundly ending your relationship.

• You collided into Wanda’s chest as your head shot up and repeatedly apologized to her while wiping the fallen tears from your cheeks

• “It’s okay, don’t apologize” Wanda said to you so gently you could barely even hear her typically thick sokovian accent

• You gave her a hesitant smile back before getting a good look at her face that was obscured by the black hoodie pulled over her face and red hair.

• You knew who she was, everyone did. Once word of the Avengers breaking up spread to the public, the news of the Avengers who were now considered fugitives did as well, and Wanda was one of them.

• You could tell she was drained, her green eyes seemed dull, the life slowly fading from them as each day passed by

• When Wanda noticed your slight staring, the panic set in as her eyes widened a bit and went to plead for you to not call the police

• “I’m not going to say anything, I promise” you reassured her.

• Wanda sighed in relief, running her hands over her face and felt the heavy weight on her shoulder dissipate slightly before she looked back at you “Thank you…thank you so much, I’m just trying to figure out where to go next, can’t stay in one place for too long”

• You frowned at the situation she was stuck in, as you bit your lip and thought of a way to make up for bumping into her “Stay at mine for the night. I live alone and I’m a nobody, it’s perfect” you shrugged

• Wanda started to grow nervous. Here you were, willing to let a fugitive into your home with no questions asked. It felt too good to be true “I-I don’t know...” she stammered out

• “You don’t have to say yes, just wanted to offer” you crossed your arms over your chest while fiddling with your fingers, a nervous habit you had

• She stared at you for a bit before nodding slowly. A night in a warm house beat flying through the night in the cold, searching for a decent place to sleep

• You grinned and started walking again “It’s not far I promise”

• Wanda let out a small chuckle as she followed you. She’ll admit, you were gorgeous. You were tiny, couldn’t be taller than 5’0, the tallest 5’2 maybe, you gave her a sense of comfort she hasn’t felt in such a long time.

• One night at your place turned into two, then a week, then a month. She didn’t want to leave you even if it might come back to bite her in the future

• Wanda had spent most of her time with you, well when you weren’t at work. She loved listening to you ramble on about your days at work which she insists you quit

• ‘you should quit, you’re not confined to stay there forever’ Wanda suggested as she ate some cereal, sitting cross legged on your couch ‘The pay is good and I’d prefer to not be broke thank you very much’

• There were other small things she learned about you, like how you were an only child, had a good relationship with your parents, didn’t really have any friends because you didn’t have the time.

• There were also smaller things she noticed during her time she spent with you, when you had a bad day, you’d curl up under your favorite fuzzy purple blanket and watch your favorite movie and order takeout, how you mess with your fingers, hair, or clothes when you were nervous, you had a slight stutter, which was exacerbated when you were excited or mad.

• Wanda opened up to you as well, telling you about her childhood and how she got her powers, her relationship with her brother, the excruciating pain, both physically and mentally, she felt when he died.

• As time went on, you knew you were falling for her, not just puppy love, but real love. You wanted to be with her all the time, wanted to brighten her day and distract her from the shit the world is putting her through right now.

• Wanda felt herself falling in love with you as well. At first, she felt guilty because of her situation. She didn’t want to get you in the middle of it and potentially put you in danger.

• And then, her worse fear came true. She was watching the news one day and seen her face pop up on the screen. Someone had spotted her, she had to leave now.

• She quickly got up and got dressed, preparing to leave as quickly as possible, but one thing was stopping her, you. You weren’t home yet, with it only being the middle of the day.

• She paced and tried to figure out what to do so you wouldn’t think that she just up and left you.

• Her thoughts were interrupted when the door opened, and you quickly rushed in “Did you see the news?” you spoke quickly

• Wanda nodded “Yeah…Y/N I can’t stay here anymore, it’s too risky”

• You looked at her sadly before nodding “Okay, then let’s go” you walked to your room and went to pack a bag as Wanda gave you a confused look and followed you

• “What? No, you can’t come Y/N it’s too dangerous” she pleaded with you “This is my fight I have to do this on my own”

• You walked over to her “I’m not letting you go back out there alone Wanda. You don’t have to do that, I’m here for you and I want you to be safe because I love you dammit so let me pack my shit so we can go!” you felt tears well up in your eyes as you realized what you said, hoping that wasn’t the final straw to make her leave

• Instead, you felt her soft hands cupping your face and pulling you into a gentle kiss which grew more loving and desperate, until you needed to breathe and pulled away, leaning your forehead against hers “I’m not leaving you”

• She looked into your eyes “Then we have to hurry up”

• You smiled before grabbing the bag and her hand as you ran out of your house, leaving everything behind, because you didn’t need anything else. Why would you when you had Wanda by your side

The Right Thing to Do “live commentary” - Part I of the “Rights and Wrongs” series, by LovesBitca8

Here we go again! I have decided to go for this series next. I originally was going to go ahead and read The Auction (ovaries still growing to required size to read Manacled) but i found out that it’s part three of a series??? I’m not sure if it’s 100% necessary to read the two before? (TRTTD and ATWT) so if anyone would be so kind to clarify, thanks in advance!

Anyways, as it says The Auction is part three, my brain can no longer go ahead and just read it- i have to go in order now 😤. So yeah! Let’s crack on, shall we? I have already done a “live commentary” about The Fallout and DMATMOOBIL, i didn’t do one on Isolation but i wish i did, it was perfection, btw. Anyways this is not a “proper” review or critique, just my thoughts while reading, and i don’t even know why i’m writing like i have an audience waiting for me to do this again lol the delusion ~ i will pin this to the top of my profile and update by editing the same post, so yeah! And now without ACTUAL further adue…

Day one: i’m really enjoying this fic so far! I’m on chapter 9, and it feels really “fresh” and “young”, probably bc it’s only a year and a half after the war and the characters are just becoming young adults. It’s always funny to read how they go straight into working for the Ministry and don’t really take a few years to “go to college” lol. It’s nice and a bit more fast-paced, shorter chapters and relatively open descriptions of places and people, which i too appreciate, so my mind can kind of “create” and work around it to imagine the world and ppl around the story. It’s a very nice change of style, and i have just read the reference for The Auction! So clever, i wonder if the author was already thinking about / writing that fic by this time? Anyways, less than a week til i go back to school and won’t have much time to read :( so i will happily destroy whats left of my eyesight to finish this fic before sunday hehe… been thinking about getting a Kindle! I found out you can read fics on there too! (I’m so NOT knowledgeable on this front lol) any suggestions about it?

Day three: chapter 25! We are making good progress! I’m liking how things are going, pretty interesting twist of events! I’m finding it a teenzy bit hard to get ober Lucius Malfoy being “civil” towards hermione, and sometimes Draco’s behavior is a bit too “casual” with other people and colleagues for my brain to comprehend, i guess I’m used to him still a bit cold towards the general public, just because he is more reserved and weary in general. The rest is fitting just fine! I like the bit of banter between ginny, hermione and harry! I’ve never really been a *huge* fan of Ron, be it on the books or the movies, i just think our girl could do SO much better than ending up with him… she pretty muchwas his mom throughout their entire relationship (ok, enough ranting, that’s a topic for another time, sorry to all the romione fandom). Anyways, what i wanted to get to with that last idea, was that i rrally like the trio with Ginny instead of Ronald lol sorry Ron!

I just reached the a/n where the author says there’s alteady three chapters drafted for The Auction! Exciting! We’ll update soon!

Day four: ok, i’m getting a bit annoyed with Hermione’s attitude at work. Like, why would you talk back at your BOSS like that? Doesn’t matter what’s happening between them, you don’t disrespect the person who gave you the chance to do something of your career. I get it, he “used her name” or whatever (it doesn’t even mean anything, if she didn’t bite the bait, he would be left embarassed in front of people like Walter), but dude: the man’s your boss! Why does she act like she’s making him a favor? You want out of you thing with Lucius? TELL DRACO! Is not your responsibility to keep the company afloat, is your damn savior complex, draco is right. Lol i’m getting all worked up here, because this plot is slowly but surely annoying me a little bit. It’s not that hard to work things out, there’s no “real threat” for them and the “right thing to do” isn’t really a huge thing. Am i getting this wrong? I’m very practical and this arrengement of sorts is just too much trouble when things could be very easy!!?????? And seriously, Draco could just freaking tell her to stop being unprofessional and rude in front of others, because she’s!! And he needs to just be the boss…

Day five: I’ve finished! 36 chapters later, the first part of the series is finished. I feel like it was a pretty good, quick read! Pretty entertaining, it made me laugh quite a few times, and was an overall nice story. I feel there were a few plotholes that i would’ve liked to see resolved: like the actual classes being of more critical use or having more of a significance throughout the story, and to go deeper into Lucius plan, maybe? The repercutions of his stabbing plan, maybe a bit more of how H’s career moved forward, ginny and harry’s wedding, ron pretty much disappeared from the story and i thought he would have made a good conflict point. I would have loved a more high-stakes conflict between d and h and their relationship, though. I do feel the ending was a bit rushed, or maybe i’m getting used to the SLOW burn dhrs hehe, but yeah, an overall fun, quick, romantic story! Would recommend this to any first-time dramione reader. I would personally give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Now we move onto the next! I don’t know if i’ll be commenting on Dracos POV. If something gets my attention, i guess i will, but i’m so excited to get to The Auction! Moving on!

My journey in the MCU fandom on Tumblr: Sharing my thoughts on the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, racism in the MCU fandom and the best and the worse of the fandom

I wasn’t going to write this much but here I am… I don’t even know where I’m going with this but since The Falcon and the Winter Soldier just recently came out, I wanted to share some thoughts.

I joined Tumble because of a show I loved but most of you don’t know it “ Hit the Floor”

I stayed on Tumblr for two reasons only, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan.

Before the Captain America:Civil War premiere, a friend sent me the link to the Sebastian and Anthony ET interview, and I was hooked. In just one interview. I discovered Anthony Mackie. The guy was hilarious!!! I just couldn’t get enough and I knew I had to know more about him. How could he improvise so many funny lines on the spot? He was just amazing.

I had pretty much watched all the avengers movie but that was it. I was not involved in the fandom. So I knew Sam Wilson’s face, but I couldn’t even remember his name if my life depended on it. That’s how much the MCU treated him as a side character.

I was like how the f*ck don’t I know this guy?

His talent reminded me of Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey or Robin Williams, like yes they can make some emotional or serious movies, but when they want to make you laugh, you will laugh. Whether you want it or not.  I kept wondering how this guy wasn’t more famous.

And the banter with Sebastian Stan? Wow, you could tell their friendship was strong, the way Sebastian lighted up when Anthony was talking, and keep bouncing off his jokes. It was art. the way Sebastian said “ I love you” at the end of the interview. Pure gold.

I then started to watch some of the interviews and boy was that a mistake!!! I literally couldn’t get enough. So I watched all and I say all their interviews, it was the best. We got some gems:

“Why aren’t you looking at me as much”

“Which way is the beach Seabass”

*Them saying nonsense in Spanish and then Sebastian Saying Papi Chulo*

 ¨And so many more, ....

I watched other solo Anthony interviews and he was still HILARIOUS, but you could also tell he felt a little bit more at ease with Sebastian around. I won’t pretend I know him or his personality, but Sebastian seems like a little bit more of an introvert and looks like he doesn’t enjoy the interview experience unless Anthony id around him. Just my thoughts

I watched the interviews before I went to see the movie, I even cosplayed as the Winter Soldier to the movie premiere and I was IN!!! When I saw Captain America Civil War, I became a SamBucky shipper, these two were hilarious and I really so the potential for a great realtionship I love enemy to lovers stories.

I also shipped Stucky because, to me, the trope of the movie was Superhero gives up everything to protect his long term friend” Hollywood movies have some codes and if Bucky were a female character, there is no doubt in my mind that the movie would have been marketed as romance.

Stucky really was an easy ship! But then the MCU fandom of Tumblr fandom messed up everything for me. You see I really liked the CACW and I I liked Stucky, I liked Sambucky, and I loved the introduction of t’Challa’s character, but one of things that affected me the most in the movie was that it was the first blockbuster I watched with 3 black main characters, Rhodey, Sam and T’Challa. That, and the fact that they were planning to realease a Black Panther movie in two years, I was super excited, and that’s the main reason I got involved in the MCU fandom so much, when before, I was just a casual watcher.

If this seem weird to you, then you have no idea how we were only getting crumbs before. For me it was soo huge, I even told all my friends, and they were laughing at me. But usually blockbusters, especially superhero movies get one black character and that’s it, usually the best friend or something and never the leads. So, for me it really was a big deal. How sad is that by the way…

I became more involved in the fandom and, at first, I wasn’t focusing on anything special, Sambucky, Stucky, Stackie, the Black Panther, and even Zemo, whose character I really liked.

But soon I noticed that the CACW tags were always flooded, and I mean flooded with the same two white characters: Steve and Bucky. I told myself, ok that’s fine Steve is the lead after all, but it would be good to see the other characters too.

And then I noticed another interesting trend: Evanstan…. Wait what?

Chris Evans, and Sebastian Stan… did I miss something? Listen, obviously I’m sure they must be friends or something, but you’re going to tell me you watch all MCU the actors and you’re going to focus on Steve and Sebastian? I’m sorry what?

Sebastian and Anthony are right there… Or Chris and Anthony, they even have a secret handshake, only the 2 of them do… what more do you want?

Tell me one iconic Evanstan moment… go ahead tell me… See??? There isn’t.

Because of this and because of how badly some Stuckies were treating Sam and Anthony. I became less and less of a stucky shipper . I mainly focused on SamBucky, Stackie and the Black Panther,

And then the Sebastian Stan stans saw how popular Stackie, Sambucky, were becoming and I started to see some problematic stuff in our fandom too.

I don’t want to generalize, but when you go into the Stackie tag, and you see cropped pictures of Sebastian without Anthony, it’s easy to assume that a Sebastian fan did that. And we know damn well you cropped out Anthony because we watched all Stackie interviews and know exactly which interview your picture was taken from. We know that Anthony was sitting right next to Seb.

You post a picture of Sebastian laughing but you crop out the person who was making him laugh??

“but it has nothing to do with race” How do you know that?

“Sebastian had more screen time” More screen time than Anthony in CATWS or CACW? I don’t think so.

“I have been a fan of Sebastian for longer”, that’s fine but don’t go out cropping Anthony, just post gifs of Seb in his usual, sad, and Anthony-less interviews, not the ones where he’s smiling because his best friend is next to him.

Some of you really are the worst. And just so you know, your fave Sebastian is Anthony’s biggest fan, if he saw pictures where you cropped out Anthony, he would block you on the spot.

When I realized that Anthony Mackie would be the next Captain America I was screaming, no actually, I was crying, Sam Wilson will be Captain America, and Anthony would finally get the recognition he deserves.

You would think that the MCU fandom would focus on Captain America or at least one the two leads, instead of just Sebastian? Right? Right? WRONG.

Anthony is handsome, he’s funny, he’s a great actor, he went to freaking Julliard, he’s at the top, I don’t see what else the man can do??? He should already be a superstar, but no, you will side-line him even to he is the lead of the show.

Even when they are the actual leads, you guys would do anything to bring up the White characters even if it means ignoring the Black characters.

I remember I was having a conversation about Black Panther with my friends and I asked one of my white friends who was his favorite character in BP was and he told me Martin Freeman (don’t even remember his name in the movie) Martin Freaking Freeman, there are half a dozen of great characters and your fave is the only white man??? Ok, ok, that’s great.

Don’t give out automatic reply like “It has nothing to do with race, if you haven’t thought about it first”, because there’s a high probability that it is indeed about race. Stop saying it isn’t, sit down and ask yourself, “Am I biased?” “Why am I reblogging only stuff related to the white characters”.

One of these days you guys are going to make me hate Sebastian with the sh*t you are pulling.

I looove the Stackie friendship and the Sambucky dynamic but after seeing the way some of you treat Anthony and Sam’s character, it make me want to focus on Sam’s character and forget about the rest.

 I remember they were some posts about how Anthony was problematic, and I just lost it. Apparently, there was an old article that resurfaced were Anthony was making a joke about women making sandwiches or something.

If you were offended by the sandwich joke, that is totally ok, and I can understand that.

But if you were offended by the sandwich joke, and saying Anthony is problematic BUT you still stan Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, ScarJo or even Sebastian Stan, just know that there is a high probability you’re racist.

They have all said or done problematic stuff, and people only seem to remember stuff related to Anthony, which was probably just a joke by the way.

Chris Evans and Jeremy called Black widow a wh*re, ScarJo took roles that she maybe shouldn’t have and I didn’t forget Sebastian shady Instagram post, when Kaepernick was kneeling. There are so many more things to be said about Jeremy Renner but google is your friend.

Anthony also got hate for hating on Tom Holland? Like what? Do you guys even hear yourselves? Don’t you have any friends you like to tease? If you hate someone, do you go around talking about him every chance you get? It was obviously friendly banter but some people wanted to turn it into something it was not. Sigh.

I really cannot with this fandom

 The stackie fandom was small at the beginning and the Sambucky fandom even smaller, but we were there and it was amazing. Sebastian and Anthony received the same amount of love from the fandom and I wish we could go back to those days.

Stop pretending the fandom isn’t racist. Stop saying “it isn’t about race” when you haven’t even thought about.

Saying “it has nothing to do with race” only shows that you haven’t thought about anything but don’t want to be called a racist.

There is racism in this fandom and it will always be there, but if you guys want to do anything about it, you have to acknowledge it first.

You can’t be pulling off stuff like “I don’t see colors”, “ it has nothing to do with race”. Stop, sit down, think about it and then we can have a conversation.
