Pre-Season 7 Thoughts

-> I said in my S6 post that I thought it could be a decent ending if some strings were finally tied, so hopefully this season clears those up

-> S6 was pretty intense at the end, hopefully they tone it down a notch as they go on their little earth roadtrip

-> the aftermath of Lotor dying is definitely something that will weigh on Allura. Hopefully she doesn’t get too torn up about it

-> I’m really curious as to how the new team dynamics will play out now that Kieth is back as black paladin. Will they go back to s1? s3? Will they just act like nothing??

-> really wanna scene where keith calls krolia mom for the first time

-> what is with this “game show” episode??

-> I’m curious as to how ships will play out now.. Lance seems to be okay with Allura not liking him back after s6, their talk was really nice. As much as I think they look cute together, Allura needs time to get over Lotor first, and Lance seems to be already moving on.

-> now that Kieth is back, I wonder if there was more “klance moments” for people to go crazy over

Post-Season 7

-> holy fuck. yall did not lie. that was…intense.

->ultimately I did not get my pre-s7 wish then.

-> I really liked all the keith/shiro lore about their relationship. It was really sweet. Shiro was the first person (besides his dad I guess) to show him patience and kindness. That’s so heartwarming.

->added to all the motifs and references to them saving each other,,very sweet. I love found family stuff like that. so i very much liked that episode (besides the “tiny” subplot lolz)

-> Romelle (as opposed to the name I gave her: “sailor moon altean girl”) is actually so real. She and hunk have the same “only normal one” vibe and i respect that.

-> literally where was haggar/honerva this whole time. Did she take a sabbatical or something??

While the other of Lotor’s generals go for whatever seems right for them, (as you should in war) she seems to calculate things on a matter of both that and morality, while also looking at the big picture. “Well, this would save my ass, save the universe from chaos, and be morally intact…sounds good”

->^is this the klance moment? seems a little sad tbh. why Lance is like that “wait where are you going?” relax bro he’s not gonna disappear

-> I think because keith and Lance chose each other, making both of them say nice things would drive you guys a little crazy, so I think they tried to just “klance-proof” (like baby-proof) this season by making them barely interact unless it’s a battle or doing so in a s1/2 way

->Because otherwise keith acted…really out of character..? I think it might be to his growth on the quantum abyss trip, but it just felt so odd to watch him this season

->the “floating in space” episode was actually super interesting to watch. Going space crazy caused for their truest thoughts and desires to come out from the dark. (going to earth, what they think about each others’ actions) I thought that was really cool.

->KEITH CALLED KROLIA MOM!!! IT HAPPENED!! OMG. SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP FALLING TO MY KNEES AT WALMART!!!!!!!!🫡💪🔥🔊🗣️

->I was so happy when he got his parents back like I genuinely did a little celebratory dance (jumping up and down and going “yes!yes!yesyesyesyes! yeeeessssssss!” while doing exaggerated hand gestures)

->Adam fucking died.

->not even one scene showing his and shiro’s positive interactions. or them being romantic. one and a half scenes. And then he’s gone.

-> while, for the most part, I try to understand the writers faults further than just face level, (ie netflix or dreamworks just didn’t let them explicitly put anything there) idk I just. I feel like they could’ve at least played it off as them being “good friends” or something. But to kill him off is just…it feels wrong.

->and it feels like a wrong for shiro too. He finally gets to be on earth after everything that’s happened to him, and the one thing he’d been hoping to finally see,,is gone.

->I just feel like they did shiro dirty. they can never give that poor man a break.

->^I was right! Keith is definitely acting different because of his growth on the quantum abyss (or “space whale” as people seem to call it). It’s nice to know he’s matured and stuff, and can actually say what he feels and such, be a good team member/leader. I just wish it wasn’t all off-screen. (and while I’m happy for him..I do miss his more broody early-season self a bit)

->as much as I think allurance is cute, I feel like they’re kinda rushing it. Like. by the time they got to Earth it had barely been a month of being stuck in space post-s6. Maximum it’s been 3 months by the time of the final battle. she would not be blushing. She would be mourning Lotor. They could’ve had a little subplot about that,,the crushing weight of knowing she could’ve both stopped his death and the guilty feeling of “why am i mourning him..? He was a bad person” because she still loved him!! She still loved him when they were about to leave him in the quintessence field and she felt conflicted!!

->she would’ve also not caught feelings that fast. Let’s say she somehow miraculously got over Lotor in 2 months. (minimum!) she still wouldn’t have caught feelings! Maybe she would start like. the budding processes to begin to fall for lance…but she wouldn’t be blushing and being all bashful like that.

-> basically all I’m saying is I really hope they don’t rush this. It would feel unfair to both her and Lance. Allura literally was like “oh..😕 he said that..☹️?” In s6 when the mice told her about Lance’s feelings because she felt bad about breaking his heart.

->and Lance has literally been after her for a really long time,, so it’d be unfair to pair him with someone who only started liking him like a week ago.

->I also hate the “guy pines after girl, girl doesn’t reciprocate and turns him down a lot, guy almost gives up, girl starts falling for him just as the show ends after not showing any interest previously” trope. (I am aware Allura and Lance do share some more sweet and romantic scenes/moments in s4-6, but you catch my drift, right?)

-> I really hope they put it well in s8.

->^I got to that Lance scene I’ve seen everywhere and just. Wow. it was so intense. I actually got chills. Amazing work from the animation crew yet again.

-> the final battle was sooo amazing and so beautiful.

->the atlas stuff kinda threw me off tho.

->that admiral sanda girl was a bitch (i do not use that term lightly, especially for female characters) and not to sound like a maniac im glad she died ngl. She was stupid as hell if she thought her plan would work.

->also if the galra can invent something that can easily overpower Voltron, then why don’t they just take over the universe themselves?? They clearly have the resources to.

->seriously the atlas’s stuff was insane. Fym it’s a ship that makes a bigger, cooler, grizzled Voltron??(yes I will forever use that joke)

->^because like. Then what do you need Voltron for??

->like the pacing and plot twists and shit felt so off and out of nowhere this season.

->and the real kicker was the altean chick controlling that giant monster thang. literally what the freak. where the cameras at I know I’m getting pranked right now. they were just pulling shit out of their asses by then.

->again, need to say, if it weren’t for that altean chick, this could’ve also been a good ending?? like after reading the Wikipedia page I found out they had a 72 episode contract, so they need to get those last episodes out, (76 total, I did the math) but if anything I think it would be best if it was just a little anthology sort of thing. Like them defeating the rest of the galra left out, freeing planets, and focusing on their own lives and relationships (during and after). That would be probably the best course of action for s8.

->but apparently it has a “bad ending” (which I’m pretty sure is just ship stuff and people exaggerating)

So got a crack klance fic idea but I cannot write so I’m gonna release it to the world, Keith who thought he & Lance were dating in garrison days and then Kerberos happens and he dips n he’s like “oh Lance is probably so mad at me :(“ so he panics when he sees him again and pretends he doesn’t remember & Shiro figured it out n like is torn between telling him & watching it play out while hunk who has read both their diaries like nudges them sometimes but mostly watches the soap opera this is. Pidge just makes fun of them & records the funniest moments and Allura is like “oh dear :(“ fr 2 seconds b4 joining hunk. Anyways confessions happens and Keith is like “Are we getting back together? :D” so Lance is like “What do mean getting back together we’ve never dated?” And Keith has never wanted to fade away more than in that moment. 1) lance can 100000% dance and keith finds it rlly hot...keith cannot but is VERY willing to be taught since his teacher is so pretty sldkjflskdjf

2) lance listens to indie pop basic shit lskdjlsjkdf which keith finds a little bleh but he can appreciate it as a background vibe...also he listens to 2000′s pop and spanish pop which keith can appreciate More. keith listens to annoying edgy emo music and also alt music which lance absolutely spends a lot of time making fun of him for but he honestly doesn’t mind the music that much and he likes hearing keith sing so...he keeps the teasing light

4) their first date...i like to think it was an aquarium. i always love the idea of them very nervously getting dressed (they both try on at least 6 outfits before settling on one...lance wears a white t shirt w a blue long sleeve button up over it and jeans and keith wears a red flannel which is always his Classy Emo™️ standby) and getting to the aquarium, both acting a little awkward and nervous, but they end up getting lost in the excitement and fun of looking at all the weird fish and it helps them get back into their normal groove of communication and they have a great time :’)

5) there’s SO many ways they couldve started dating but i think the most likely is that they both slowly realize that maybe. Maybe the other person likes them too and they get SUPER awkward and struggle to communicate bc they’re still super scared abt being wrong...and finally lance makes one of his usual flirty comments and keith just responds by kissing him bc he can’t stand this tension and he just needs to know if lance likes him or not...lance responds enthusiastically ;)

ooooh keith. full disclosure, while i know a lot of spoilers for things via cultural osmosis, in my full watch of the show i’m only in the first couple eps of s5 so idk about how things play out later

favorite thing about them: I love his passion, and his anger, and the potential he had in an arc about learning to channel his emotions healthily and productively, and learning to work with others as part of a team rather than... not learning to do that and being a leader who winds up leading his team because he hares off to do his own thing and they have no choice but to follow. (granted, it’s possible that he does actually learn these things, I still don’t know how the whole kuron thing is gonna play out so We’ll See)

least favorite thing about them: How much his Lone Wolf thing gets played up, despite his arc ostensibly being about him learning....not to be a lone wolf anymore. Like idk there were a lot of times in the first three seasons I thought he was learning this and then he Didn’t and i just. -fist clench- por que

favorite line: I don’t have any off-hand, the show hasn’t had any quotes that really Stuck Out to me (no iconic lines that I could quote after just seeing them once), and this is my first watch so I haven’t committed any to memory. I do remember liking his speech to Lance encouraging him to keep the Red Lion after Shiro came back, though, even if I never did like the whole changing of the guard thing. (Allura should’ve been the Black Paladin dammit.)

brOTP: I really enjoy his bond with Shiro (while I don’t ship it romantically, it has nothing to do with their ages, I just don’t really have an investment in romantic ships in this show that don’t have to do with Allura bc she’s the primary point of my investment in the series), and their friendship and the hints I’ve seen at their past mentorship bond.

OTP: I will say right now that it’s not exactly ‘otp’ level for me, but like I said above the only ships I’m really invested in are Allura-centric, and I deeply love the potential that Kallura had before it was evidently discarded (interestingly enough, Keith/Allura was the main ship of the original Voltron, where Allura was pale-skinned and also didn’t die at the end, but you know that’s just very interesting to me) in favor of kataang-light, now with somehow Even Less Agency, but whatever this isn’t about that. At any rate, Keith’s galra heritage makes their potential relationship very interesting, both from a standpoint of Allura having to move past her inherent dislike/distrust of him due to his blood (and like, the fact that he didn’t even know he had Galra blood should really have mitigated this somewhat, but that’s another story), and anyway, they had a lot of really sweet moments and I’m very sad none of that potential was explored later on.

nOTP: This is mostly because of the fandom, but I just have this kneejerk dislike of Klance. I don’t like the way the fandom acts like they were baited (I’m over four seasons in, yall, and I’m not seeing anything that could even reasonably be read as romantic development, and like people can ship what they want I don’t care, but this is the ship everyone was acting like it was In the Stars from the very beginning? i realize I’m probably kicking a hornet’s nest with this, but yeesh, i’d ship sheith romantically before i’d ever ship this), and I hate how they seem to think they were entitled to an endgame and a romance that was never so much as hinted at in the show itself.

random headcanon: Mmmm I haven’t spent enough time thinking abt him to really develop one. I will say that he strikes me as someone who says he loves spicy food, but actually can’t handle spice for shit, so he’ll sit there shoveling jalapenos in his mouth while crying and adamantly pretending he’s Fine.

unpopular opinion: I don’t remember enough about the vld fandom to know what exactly constitutes unpopular, but I thought since I heard about it (and now, having seen it in s3/4, i stand by this opinion), Keith should not have been the Black Paladin. It should’ve been Allura. And I think it was monumentally stupid of the Black Lion to ‘choose’ someone who had all the leadership skills of a drunk pomeranian (I say with love), who then proceeds to nearly get the entire team killed because he’s Not A Leader and trying to force him to be one did more harm than good, especially early on. (and Black Paladin Allura is the hill I will pitch my tent and die upon, thank you and good night)

Yep! I am instantly leery of 90% of Keith, Lance, and Shiro content unless it’s from one of the like, four content creators I trust on this site lol. The three month period where people seriously conflated Keith with kpop culture was genuinely hell for me you don’t even KNOW. how many discord chats I had open at that time. Shoutout to all my friends who kept me from losing my mind lol. Not to say that people still aren’t weird about the Korean Keith hc but at least I don’t see posts about Keith saying oppa every five seconds in the tag anymore thank GOD.

I’m pleased to announce that I am NOT a fujoshi or interested in fetishizing Asian people lmfao. And I definitely don’t get my rocks off to dudes, I can promise you that. Explanations in order:

“Short” keith: I keep putting short in quotation marks because in my CORRECT opinion 5’6 isn’t even short that’s like. Medium to tall. Canon vld is in fact SHORTphobic because every character with the exception of Pidge is over 5’4 like where?? Is my representation. I’m 5’2”. get down here. And I’ll admit that I do like height differences in relationships but the potential for klance forehead kisses is VASTLY outweighed by how funny I think the idea of Pidge growing to be taller than keith is. That is ESSENTIAL to my worldview. But all the dudes in canon voltron seem to be 5’10 give or take a few inches, which is ridic, meaning if pidge is to be taller than keith then she’d have to grow to be like six feet tall which is. Also a hilarious concept. But a six foot pidge is repugnant to my vertically challenged worldview. So making keith a few inches shorter allows pidge to be 5’7 or 5’8, which is much more reasonable & acceptable.

Ultimately I’m flexible when it comes to the exact heights of everyone. What’s important is that, from shortest to tallest, it goes Pidge Keith Coran Lance-Shiro-Allura Hunk. L/S/A can go in any order, whatever’s funniest tbh.

NEXT. round face. Again I have a bone to pick w canon vld designs. I also just hate everyone having a dorito chin. Plus preteen Keith still having a knife for a jaw annoys me so much like WHERE. is the BABY FAT. So yeah. Round face keith is cuter than canon keith I said it.

Chubby Keith is cool because again, canon VLD character designs are a little. Sameish. I mean they literally copy pasted Allura to make her mom lmfao. Keith and Lance were besties in the orphanage but don’t see each other until they grow up. Lance is slightly younger than Keith and doesn’t remember right away but Keith can tell immediately who Lance is but doesn’t tell him he knows who Lance out of fear or whatever idk but this idea sounded cute

I was gonna write this next one as a series but do what u want with it, so basically Adam and Shiro are teachers at a high school, Shiro and Keith are brothers, and Adam is Lance’s older cousin or jsut a fam friend of Lance’s. Series starts with Shiro coming out to Keith bc he’s dating Adam and Keith just bein liek “bitch me too tf?” And the series basically jsjt follows Klance getting together and Shadam progressing (btw for this idea I intended for Keith and Lance to be 14ish when the series started and so they’re just beginning to think abt feelings and then the series ends with them being like college age and a shadam wedding)

Leakira/Klance crossover! Keith and Lance get transported to another reality where they are Leandro and Akira who fight along side the other characters in a rebellion (Or whatever the leakira universe/plot is idrk exactly how it goes). And basically Leakira is established but Klance isn’t so when Klance gets to this wierd reality and two people who look shockingly similar to Keith and Lance start being couply and shut they get uncomfortable and gotta figure out they’re own feelings
