So in a team of characters, I’d see you as the one who’s always very invested in taking care of everyone and keeping the atmosphere up; you’re very lively and always try to remain as positive as possible because being pessimistic never brings anything. And because you take care of everyone, everyone wants to take care of you :)

I’d say you’re also a pretty good fighter among the team, and your favourite card to play in any situation is surprise: no one can ever predict what you’re going to hit them with. (Also if there’s magic in the story then it’s your best weapon, like you can hold your own ok in hand-to-hand combat but you’re a great magician, the best in the team.)

Actually, I'm a person who whines a lot for little stuff, like half-jokingly, but it's true that when it comes to big-scope things I believe in being positive.

Thanks for saying I'd be the team's fighter! Irl I hate physical exercise (the only one I love is swimming), but I've always wanted to try martial arts or some kind of weapon, and in a fantasy setting I'd see that as my path. And yes, I'd kick ass as a magician XD

Anyways, I need some advice! I'm going to Louis' show in Berlin, fortunately bought a ticket off someone, and now this is where the stress begins.

I'm going alone. I don't know anybody going. This will be my first concert ever; and I repeat: my first. concert. ever.

I have no. Fucking. Clue. How any of this works.

I've got a ticket for pit. And now here's the multi-million dollar question: how do I make sure I get a decent spot? Should I queue? If yes, how long should I queue for? What to do with my stuff, like water or a hoodie?

Any other tips for a first-time concert-goer scared shitless?

Concerts can be a lot of fun, but also very stressful. I generally avoid concerts when I can; seeing louis so many times was a biiiig push for me. I’m very glad I went but I’ll admit it was challenging for me and very scary. I also had a really bad experience at one of my shows because I wasn’t well prepared, and then tried to improve on my experiences at my other shows, so here’s some good tips: 

Getting a decent pit spot can be hard. I don’t know the rules of the venue in Berlin and if they allow camping; if they allow camping, don’t feel pressured to do that. Everyone has their own comfort levels on camping and it can be hard to do alone. If you want to camp, bring a warm sleeping bag, a blanket, a pillow, snacks, water, portable chargers, and things to do, like a book to read or games to play. 

If you don’t want to camp, show up to the line when you can. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes and comfortable shoes. The line will move slow so sit as often as you can to save your feet. To get a good spot, show up at least a few hours before doors open (3-4 hours at least). Waiting in line is BORING, so make sure your phone is charged or you have something to do in line. 

This can be intimidating, but try to talk to the other people in line and make friends. Usually people are friendly, and if people are being crappy, you can move around in line and find a friendly group to talk to. This is also helpful because you can support each other and help each other find spots. If you feel intimidated, you can ask them things like “how long have you been a Louis fan?” “what do you think Louis will wear tonight?” “what song are you most excited to hear live?” to get a conversation started. 

Eat a filling, healthy dinner before you go. If you’re going to go early, also bring snacks (I recommend protein bars and fruit) and a bottle of water for line. If you’re stressed about your stuff, bring a disposable water bottle so you can throw it away before you go through security. If you can, buy water or get water from security once you’re in the venue. Keep hydrating. If you want to have alcohol, make sure you are drinking water too. 

If you bring a hoodie or coat, your venue might have a coat check but 1) that might cost money and 2) you’ll lose time getting a spot. If you want to avoid that, bring a lightweight jacket you can tie around your waist so you don’t have to carry it and don’t have to put it on the floor or anything. Also, bring a small wallet with just the essentials (ID, covid card, cash/one credit card) and keep it in your front pocket so you can keep track of it. 

Once you’re in the venue, it can be overwhelming at times. It’s dark, there are lots of lights going off, there are tons of people, it’s LOUD. I find that a spot on the sides can give you a good view of the stage while also giving you flexibility to take breaks, sit down, or go to the bathroom if you need to. If you feel uncomfortable at all during the show (sick, light headed, like you’re being pushed), let the people around you know and get a safe spot. Prioritize your health over saving your spot, and remember, Louis wouldn’t want you to be sick just to see a few more seconds of the show. Take care of yourself first so you can keep having fun.

My Myers-Briggs personality type is ENFT.

I have adhd, odd, depression, and anxiety. Which is basically means I either give something 1000% in effort, or nothing at all. And sometimes that is determined by someone telling me that I “have/need” to do it. Because I tend to have problems with authority figures and don’t like being told what to do.

I also have a hard time sitting still unless I’m hyper focusing on something (usually reading or going down a research rabbit hole on something that I find interesting). Those episodes only last so long though. Otherwise I like being out and doing things (usually with my dogs). I love traveling to new places and trying new things. I listen to all types of music, but David Bowie and Neil Diamond will always place top in my heart. I love to sing and dance at random. I’m not good at either, but that doesn’t stop me.

Those are my good days though. Some days depression and anxiety get ahold on me and I’ll do a 180. Those days I usually try to stay on my own and read or distract myself with movies and tv.

My favorite genre is horror. I love scary things - books, movies, documentaries, tv shows. Paranormal investigations? Im in! Stephen King’s new release? I already got it preordered.

I love games. I’m not so much into video games, but tabletop and card games are my jam. I’m also pretty good at trivia too (the more useless and random the questions are, the better I am).

I’m also a practicing pagan and witch. I specialize in divination (tarot cards, oracle cards, and tea leaf reading) and have a ridiculously large collection of rocks/crystals, candles (mostly because I like things that smell good) and different tarot and Oracle decks. And random fact; my favorite tarot card and the one I identify with the most is The Fool.

The drive back to school is full of the burning of tongues,  laugher, and snarky remarks. Now only am I realizing that most of the interesting things happen during the morning before school starts.

When we get on campus, we have 5 minutes to chug down our drink and head to class. By the time we’re back, the entirety of high school has started to crowd around the tables, waiting for the first bell of the day to chime.

The school day passes calmly. It creeped me out at first, I was worried that people were going to question what on earth I was doing with two boys and two cups of coffee. But I was basically ignored in school. A wonderful thing if you ask me.

The end of the day comes quickly. And soon, I find myself packing up from my last class of the day. It’s strange. My things are packed up and I grab my chromebook and head out.

Arcade date w/ @dreamingofjoon: LISTEN I take my games so seriously but I'd probably lose bc I'd be too busy thinking about how cute you look 🤙🤙🤙 bomb food after words FOR A FACT and a lot of like ticket for prizes exchanging or ticket counting to get the big prize.

On Zakuul and Thrawn

Yea, I know, weird choice of topics to pair together. But I’ve been thinking about the new Thrawn books and (my fave topic ever) SW:TOR and I’ve had some thoughts™ that I wanted to discuss. Namely around a certain reveal near the end of the first Thrawn novel. Under a cut for discussion of spoilers for BOTH the first Thrawn novel (of the new series that is) AND for spoilers of p much all the swtor content post the base game so like if you haven’t experienced one of those yet and you wanna go in blind stop reading here. :D

So I guess I’ll start with why I’m talking about the Thrawn books on my old republic blog. No it’s NOT just because there’s Chiss in swtor (have i mentioned you can play as a chiss in swtor. because you totally can. it’s great!). Shameless plugs for my fave game aside, it’s because of a conversation Thrawn has near the end of the book with Nightswan, just before Pryce fucks over Batonn. Specifically, about Thrawn’s motives for joining the Empire. Now YMMV about exactly how honest he was being at that point, but this post is gonna operate under the assumption that he was at least telling the truth that there’s something out there in the Unknown Regions scaring the Chiss shitless. And like, the Chiss are fuckin COLD (pun intended), so whatever that is... it’s not smth good.

But Arden, what about the Yuuzhan Vong aka ya kno ‘the thing that was ALREADY in the unknown regions in the old canon’. Yea um sure, I guess Timothy Zahn could bring them back. But like.... that doesn’t mean he HAS to. No offence to hardcore Vong fans, but I tried to get into that era of star wars and well, failed. And sure, he could bring them back, and maybe he will, but imho there are much more interesting things out in the unknown regions for our heroes to face off against in the cinematic era. Such as Zakuul.

Because, and please don’t take away my swtor fan card for this, I think kotfetet was the weakest part of swtor. I also think that Zakuul was a wasted concept. Like, at it’s heart it’s actually kinda cool. It’s a society completely separate from anything the Empire or the Republic. It’s one of those paradises where everything is done by droids, including most of the military work while the citizens live in luxury, sitting above the shitty swamp area where dissidents flee to. It’s got an organisation of force users who don’t subscribe to either the light or the dark, and a fleet powerful enough to kick both the Empire and the Republic’s asses. It’s a genuinely neat concept. It was just... somewhat butchered by it’s introduction.

SoR (controversial for its treatment of Revan in and of itself) and Ziost after were both setting up a major plotline where the Emperor has separated himself from the Empire and is full on eating planets. (not in a ‘nom nom cronchy rocks’ sense more a ‘murder death leaving a desolate wasteland behind’ sense fyi). It was Going Places. And then kotfetet came outta left field, did a total 180 plotwise where “actually the emperor ISNT trying to eat everyone he’s gone off and started ANOTHER empire because reasons? and got married and had kids also because reasons? and now he’s dead but also hanging around in your head telling you to use his power? Oh and this game that was built around being able to play your own character has suddenly picked up this storyline that railroads you into playing either a Very Specific Light Side Character or a Very Specific Dark Side Character. 

What I’m saying is. Come thru for us Timothy Zahn. Give us a Zakuul that we have a chance to explore in full as an interesting and complex threat rather than being a stupidly introduced excuse for a basic 1 fits all power fantasy plot. Because, and I recognize that I might be alone in this, I think there could be something really cool to salvage from the somewhat mess that was kotfetet.

it’s pretty well established that i am absolutely atrocious at keeping this updated. and i always say that i am going to keep it updated. but i never fucking do, do i? so i’ll say it again. and maybe i’ll mean it it this time. but i really do want to keep this up. there’s so much that i am forgetting lately. things i shouldn’t be forgetting. things i want to remember. this is another situation where i am going to have to outline each thing by each month. hold on to your butts. 

[october 2018] see i don’t remember even what’s going on. this is almost two years ago. i saw the national this month. i also went on a date with sam. it went fine but i just wanted to be friends... so he ghosted me. yahoo. it’s coming back to me now. i go to worlds of fun with kady, marissa, ashleigh, amanda, and conner... love these goons so much. 

[november 2018] my other friend - an online friend, one that lived close. we talked all the time and we played a lot of overwatch and shit together. and i’m intelligent. i’m smart. i know when i’m being taken advantage, or know when people try to do this. he asks me out on a date. we meet up in leavenworth. we spend the whole day together and we drink alcohol. i found out later i have a pretty severe alcohol intolerance. i don’t remember much of that night. maybe everything that falls down eventually rises. that whole experience was that stupid fucking bright eyes song. i can’t remember much - that pretty much makes it nonconsensual, right? i have no memory. but it’s been too long. the next day he texts me and tells me he only wants to be friends. i only remember him kissing me and his house and brooklyn 99. my aunt said i was pretty incoherent when he dropped me back off there at 2am. 

i don’t really know what to make of that whole situation. best to not think about it. we have a friendsgiving. but we don’t relaspe. i actually took up smoking, lmao. i cut him completely out of my life. i am talking to people again. i start dating a boy named drew. we were both pretty lonely people.

[december 2018] yooo drew gets in a fucking wreck after leaving my house at 2am lmao i forgot about that. he was trying to avoid a snowstorm and like broke his femur in half. he was hospitalized for 2 weeks. i visited him. he couldn’t walk for about two months. i felt really bad but i didn’t really want to keep dating him. the whole thing was my fault and i don’t know how to feel about it even now. nothing else much happened during this month. someone wrecked into my parked car. i got zaba this month, my ball python. 

[january 2019] kady asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. i break up with drew. it’s cold as fuck. i am sure there are other details. oh, ashleigh tells kady and i she will not be renewing the lease as she is going to move in with her boyfriend. ashleigh, in the past, like august 2018? was dating this homophobe so i didn’t talk to her. when he dumped her (after taking the old v card, which she told me about, which i responded to with indifference, which upset her) i was there to pick up the pieces but i told her she made a really dumb decision and i don’t know what else she expected and that it hurt that she knew my feelings about something and still dating someone so gross. ANYWAYS. new boyfriend. ashleigh wants to move in with the new boyfriend even though they havent even been dating a month... okay. we tell her not to. she doesn’t listen. ashleigh just starts being shady as fuck. jake , her bf, dumps after 2 weeks after she decides to not renew the lease. dumbass. 

ashleigh is still set to move out in may, when the lease is up. so, that’s not my problem. 

[february 2019] i really love my classes. i took ornithology that semester and i really loved it. i also cut my hair then and i came out publicly as bisexaul cause i realized how problematic being pansexual is. i also think i came out publicly as a nonbinary person, too. for so long i had issues with my gender, but i always pushed it aside and literally told myself don’t think about it, don’t worry about it, just stop. cringily, steven universe helped me figure out a label for what i was experiencing through rebecca sugar. pretty awesome stuff. 

[march 2019] a lot of shit went down this month. ashleigh started dating a guy named zane, who she first originally described to me as a creepy guy in her history class. they went on one date and fucked in her CAR in a museum PARKING LOT. lmao  and then proceeds to never sleep with him at our apartment, but will book hotels and shit. like how self conscious can you be?? anyways. i am fed up with it and i vent to some discord server and forgot ashleigh was in it. i delete it just in case but turns out she got screenshots and never told me. ash wanted to come to nakakon the weekend of march 16. march 15, ashleigh brings over zayn and theyre in her room. kady and conner are watching the office and marissa is there too. 

i come home at like 1am and they tell me ZAYN is there and has a fucking GUN on his hip and i’m?? what the fuck. so we start playing that episode of the office with gun safety dwight really really loudly. and then marissa messages ash and asks zayn to put the gun in his car. the gun is a REVOLVER and doesn’t have a fucking safety. she also doesnt have a gun safe? everyone is just super uncomfortable. zayn comes out and makes a huge deal. he tells us we’re being immature and that it isn’t a big deal. i said something along the lines that we live here, he didn’t ask, we’re uncomfortable, respect it or perish, smth like that. he leaves to go put it in his car. comes back in and starts it back up. says that “the big scary gun is put away” shut up cuck. 

anyways we get into and conner steps in because zayn is yelling at me and i am ready to brawl. zayn mentions something abuot how i treat ash like shit. i can only assume she showed him the screenshots of my discord message lmaoooo . anyways the day after that incident ! i cannot resolve it because ash is coming with me and staying at my dad’s apartment with marissa and i for nakakon. ashleigh is really obnoxious some of the time but mostly quiet. but since we were in such close quarters, i couldn’t bring up the whole shit with zayn. so. 

i am fed up and amanda, kady, marissa, ash, and i go to ihop to try and hash this out. we have a talking straw. we talk about alllll of our issues. i thought it went good. i was not aware that ash was aware of the screenshots. we told ash we were uncomfortable with zayn and would appreciate if he would apologize for disrespecting kady and i in our home and how he talked to me especially. this wasn’t unreasonable, considering three other people were witness to how zayn was talking to me. 

zayn said to ashleigh he wouldn;t apologize because he’d done nothing wrong. i told ashleigh i didn’t want him in the apartment. she moved out at this point and we got into it pretty heavily over messenger. ashleigh blocked all of us on facebook. i miss her but she’s a really toxic person who is in a relationship with a really toxic trump supporter who hates antifa and is really cringe. 

[april 2019] nothing much happened. college is good. i still have a massive crush on carter. marissa moved in. she has found out i am a giant recluse by nature and i think that has had an impact on our relationship even today. my past journal articles have illustrated i can only take people in doses, but we’ve found how to get along. 

[may - july 2019] nothing too crazy happened here either. it was an incredible summer, though. i worked, but i went to the lake so much and got close to toby! i hung out with marissa and kady so much and i really love those two girls. dad and amy are together all the time but they’re not “dating”. i know they are, just amy’s kids are young and wouldn’t understand. i know they’ll tell me when they’re ready. i also watched all of hunter x hunter and loved it. rewatched neon genesis evangelion, too, and loved it. i can’t remember when, but danielle handed marissa a letter for me to read. it was really intense and kind of perception-shattering. i texted her and we agreed to become at least non-hostile and chill with each other. i have really been meaning to see danielle irl and talk to her... but i keep forgetting and don’t have much time during the semester. i feel bad but... i don’t know what else to say. i reached out to her in december but was left on read. that was my fault, as i hadn’t responded to her in months. it’s better than what it was, to say the least. 

[august 2019] golden year baby ! just kidding my golden year was whenever i turned nineteen. anyways august is pretty chill. i started my senior year and took entomology. i loved that class so much and had it with carter. i really love the people in my field and i am going to miss them so much. love the biology goons. i also found out from my doctor i am allergic to most alcohols after i had an allergic reaction on my 21st and went to the doctors. i have a pretty severe intolerance. also started playing dragon age again. i don’t really talk to mom at all. my maternal grandfather, cliff, who i have never met/spoken to, has a relationship with my sister ashlee and was at my nephew’s first birthday party. cliff met my brothers and i and was very kind to us. however, i love my aunt shanna with my whole heart and she doesn’t like him at all. there was a very clear and obvious divide of my mom’s sisters and family, like jordan, kenadee, brettney, nana, and my grandfather’s family, like his other children and their spouses. it was all very difficult. i know my grandfather doesn’t have much time left in this world, but he still was rude and treated the family who HAS been there like shit. i know my mom cut my grandfather out, but i am inclined to side with my aunt because she knows best. however, she didn’t pull me aside at the birthday party and tell me not to believe a thing cliff says. cliff, however, did that. told me to believe what nana says and that it was all in the past. that rubbed me the wrong way. i still don’t know what to think about that situation. 

[september 2019] just school and work still, nothing crazy. mammalogy trips, entomology trips, school is really really fun and a lot of work but i love it so much! oh, and carter got me a bernie2020 magnet for my birthday. 

[october 2019] i saw the band cigarettes after sex. they were really awesome. i broke my glasses. i went to ren fest. nathan was creepy. i saw my mom and my aunt brenna at toby’s marching band game. dad, ash, and bentley were there. it was awkward and i didn’t try talking to my mom. a few months prior i kind of ripped into her on messenger and tried to tell her that i wanted a relationship but she had to acknowledge that what she did in the past was wrong (and i told her exactly what she did wrong, and i had talked about this with my siblings and dad, who agreed) and how she could fix it and how i still wanted her in my life. and she refused to acknowledge this. i kind of broke down over it because i realized my mom was never ever ever going to change and it broke me. anyways, i saw her at the game and i didn’t talk to her and answered her questions with as much grace as i could manage. that’s all. she lives in olathe now. that guy and her broke up. toby lives with dad full time now. dad has a good job and bartends part time at top golf. 

[november 2019] there was a praying mantis on my aloe plant! she laid an ootheca. it should hatch any day now :)i went to a deer aging check station. i slept in a bath tub. had some good conservations with my sister. we also had kady’s bridal shower. kaycee’s house is amazing and so is kaycee! i wish she lived closer. 

[december 2019] kady got married! it was a really beautiful reception. i finished my semester with all As and Bs! entomology was really hard, but i got a B in there! most people in ento got Cs or Ds so i did really well :) we started playing left for dead again 

[january 2020] kady is on her honeymoon. marissa and i watched midsommar on new years eve. i started my new classes. i am taking herpetology and paleontology and local flora. i also TA for plant phys and am doing research with dr. barta! life was pretty good. oh, i tried getting glass animals tickets, but they sold out, so i was really bummed :///

[february 2020] chiefs won the superbowl, played dragon age, went to class. i spend a lot of time with amanda and love her so much. i also got my resume together! waiting to hear back so i can start applying for jobs.

[march 2020] it’s the current month. it’s been a wild month because of the virus. i was supposed to find a place to live by may and a job this month but the virus has made that pretty much impossible. my dad has been reassuring but also not at the same time. it will all work out. i voted for bernie in the primaries. i have become extremely socialist in my views. right now, i am really into NGE and jojo’s bizarre adventure and i am listening to a lot of the kinks. jyro turned 11 this month. 11! he’s getting so old. i hope i can find a place to live but i need to find a job first. it’s a stressful time. hopefully i won’t get the virus but... we will see. also, i’ll try to keep this updated. maybe monthly!

• I might have broken my little toe a couple weeks ago and it’s mostly good unless I’m spinning on that foot or if I poke it but when I was taking my sock off I accidentally twisted it and died a lil and now it hurts again

• I went to bed rlly early bc I was exhausted but I had to stop talking to Aras rip

• I managed to get 35/60 on an OPEN NOTE TEST

• we had to do Italian fouettés at dance and I hate Italian fouettés I suck at them

• we had to do an adagio combination at dance and I hate adagios I suck at them

• I put some taffy in my pocket and forgot about it and went to bed and now there's taffy on my sheets

• I accidentally sat on my cat. He's fine it was just his legs but I felt really bad

• I had a headache and a sore throat all day yesterday and it sucked

• I get *angsty* when I'm sick and made myself sad and wrote sad things

• I got put in a group in drama with the One And Only Person I Hate Who I’ve Actually Met and she was trying to make the scene we were making up really stupid and terrible and insert a completely unnecessary romantical subplot when we had ten minutes to do the whole thing

• I ended up getting knocked out/shoved to my knees/tripping and falling SEVEN TIMES in the scene which was really fun but also now my knee is really bruised and I die

• we mostly ran out of food at my moms house and she doesn’t get paid until Thursday rip

GREAT things-

• we had locker checks yesterday so no pe which was Great bc I had a really bad headache and a sore throat and I probably would have died

• I came out to two of the older kids in the musical bc one of them was talking abt the guy he’s going to ask out after musical and then the other one was like yea dude there’s like five gay guys at this school aND ONE OTHER BI GIRL RIP and I was like *jazz hands* and they were like holy crap you’re bi what and it was freaking great bc that was the first time I’ve come out irl and yeA

• ALL OF THE SENIORS ARE REALLY FREAKING NICE AND I LOVE THEM OK

• yesterday was A REALLY GOOD BODY IMAGE DAY AND TODAY ISNT QUITE AS GOOD BUT BETTER THAN NORMAL WHICH IS PRETTY GREAT

• TAFFY IS GOOD AND I GOT TO EAT SOME

• the scene we made up in ten minutes was the best in the class and now I’m using the plot of our scene to write a book and yea

• I ACTUALLY WROTE SOMETHING EVEN IF IT WAS RIDICULOUS AND SAD

• I brought a dollar to school so I could walk to Taco Bell after rehearsal and get a freeze during happy hour and I missed it by five minutes and I was p disappointed but then I had enough change floating around to get one anyway!!! Even enough to get a large one!!! I really like Taco Bell freezes

• I went to bed early and got a crap ton of sleep

• I figured out a joke to come out to my best irl friend bc today I was face timing her and wandering my house as one does and ended up sitting on a giant pile of stuffed animals in my closet and I was like holy crap this is really comfortable and now I’m making it into A Place To Sit and so I’m going to FaceTime her sometime and be like ok I’m getting out of the closet now, btw I’m bisexual pls don’t hate me and then hang up bc I’m terrified bc her mom is kinda homophobic and just aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

• one of our roommates got bread and it’s the Good Bread so I had an actual sandwich for lunch instead of like cereal or smth which was pretty great

• I’m at my dad’s house for the next two days and he has Good Food All The Time It’s Great

• there’s ICE CREAM AND IM GOING TO EAT SOME

• I lost my sister’s book (I didn’t know it was hers at the time) at a pool party in sixth grade and she hasn’t forgiven me and she always brings it up and my mom sides with her whenever she does and GUESS FUCKIN WHAT. I FOUND IT. HECK YEA. SHE CANT PLAY THAT CARD ANYMORE SO HA!!

• I found my chapstick

• MY CRUSH SAID HE LOVED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IN A JOKEY FRIEND WAY BUT STILL!!!!!!!!!! AND I SAID IT BACK!!!! I CANT USUALLY EVEN SAY IT TO MY GRANDMA WHO I LOVE DEARLY!!!!!! I HAVENT STOPPED SCREAMING AT ALL SINCE AND THAT WAS LIKE FOUR HOURS AGO
