I saw you were looking for The Boys requests. Please I beg of you ANYTHING between Firecracker and reader. She’s so beautiful and I need to be with her so bad! Literally anything you want to write. It’s just that NO ONE has written for her!!
♱ — country girl — ♱
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Thank you for ur request, I also agree, nobody is writing about Firecracker, our country girl needs some love <3.
WARNING: cursing, tw: abortion, firecracker as a person, tw: tek knight, this might be crackfic sorry.
PAIRING: firecracker x reader
WORD COUNTER: 974
Tumblr media
It was so boring at the Tek's Knight party, you were mindlessly taking glasses of alcohol served on a platter to guests that attended, mostly the room filled with important, rich, people of America.
Like you want to be here with these superficial assholes and fucking racists, you had better thing than to be here in this party but you were forced to attend. Most of the members of the seven were here, including you. Here you are, in a party filled with old people who controlled the country, you looked up at the seemingly staring Tek Knight portrait that was on display, "Creepy" You muttered, before you gulped down the content in the glass, swiftly placing it on the waltzing waiter passing by.
It was going to be a while till you were able to leave the party. It was an event where people were the best dressed and for you, the best dress was your costume, shut up and stay still while people talked to you, talking about nonsense and political matters you didn't care about.
You just nodded with a smile.
Tap your fingers on your glasses, looking for anything that can occupy your time. It wasn't the worst, free high-quality alcohol was being served, and interesting-looking food was being served around the party. You looked around the room of guests, and your eyes quickly landed on Homelander, Sage, and Neuman. You quirked your eyebrows at the scene, before taking a sip of the champagne in your glass.
"Hm," You exhaled, swirling the liquid in your glass. The sound of heels clicking on the floor took your attention. You looked up from your cup to see Firecracker walking by you, you didn't get to know a lot about her only to know that she was involved in pageants, hate Starfire maybe a pedophile. You kept your eye on her with amusement as she walked toward the group of supes.
You were way too curious about how the interaction was going to play out, especially with her introduction, it was almost comical.
Everyone in the group just stared at her awkwardly, it was all truly funny and made you laugh a bit. Then Sage dismissed her straight, I guessed it was something snarky towards her. You watched her as walked away quickly, it looked like she was upset about what Sage said. "Trailer trash, huh?" You gulped down your maybe 10th glass of the night and placed it on the walking waiter's tray before you strode to the dessert table.
You recognize the greeting butler of the house taking the cake. “Hey, are you going to take that?" You asked the butler holding the chocolate cake in his hand. "Yes, Miss H/N" He stated, “Would you like a slice?” He questioned, “No, actually I’ll take the whole cake” You shot him a smile, grabbing the cake from him. “Thanks for being such an American patriot” you exclaimed before you walked out to follow Firecracker.
You stepped out of the room where the party guests were. You followed Firecracker, you wanted to keep your steps as silent as possible maybe to surprise her a bit, maybe this was a bit creepy, a little at least. You hid behind one of the white columns, hearing the door behind her close with a 'click' sound.
You stepped out into the hallway, with the cake in hand. You paused for a moment when you reached the door. Before putting your ear near the door to hear sniffing coming from her you backed away. You hesitated to knock, so you just waited on the side of the door until she opened up.
Propping yourself up on the wall, it was a couple of minutes until she opened the door. It was evident she was crying with her tear-stained cheek and the reddening of her irises. Bounced off the wall, "God were you crying, you look like shit" You said bluntly, her brows furrowed when she heard the comment escaping you.
"Shit, my bad, cake?" You prominently offered the cake to her, she looked at it and then at you, "Is this a joke?" She said with her strong accent shining through as she spoke.
Narrowed her eyes at you.
"No, actually this was from the good of my heart, I saw the exchange between you and you know sage?' You said you heard her groan as you talked.
"So, are you going to tell me to drink Everclear or SunnyD" She exclaimed.
"Of course not, I was going to tell you to drink some Dr. Pepper and Jack Daniel" You grin at her smugly,
She furrowed her brows more, you got her pissed, "Jokes" You put up your free hand defensively, "But seriously, I saw you upset and what better way to calm down than with cake, especially chocolate cake" You grinned pointing at the chocolate cake in your hands.
"What in god green earth would make you think I would eat cake with you" She crossed her arms, "Geez if you put it that way...I just wanted to support a friend in need, since you are part of the seven, you know..so cake?" You offered her again before she looked at you and the cake.
"Fine"
..
"You know Sage is like a slithering snake, I just should known" Firecracker grumbled, taking a spoonful of cake and shoving it in her mouth, you hummed in agreement.
"The whole thing with the show and live cast with the starlight bullshit, should of fucking know" Firecracker finished,
"How did you...I mean she even gets information about Starlight abortion?" You asked, stabbing your fork in a piece of cake, Firecracker just shrugged it off, "I mean you took those punches like a champ" You said bluntly, Firecracker glared at you.
"Hey Y/N" You turned towards her,
"What?"
"Fuck you"

if you were in charge of next year’s Miss Universe National Costume for the US, what would you design?
Oh, that’s a good question.
You actually made me go and look up as many past Miss USA national costumes as I could find, and uh. it’s not great, guys? Like, there are a variety of Statue of Liberty / Patriotic Winged Lady looks, with execution ranging from “meh” to “I’ll allow it, I guess.”
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
And there’s a bunch that are absolutely phoning it in. Or, in the case of Miss USA 2002, saying “there’s literally no way this costume gets to be about anything but 9/11 so I am making the safest possible choice.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the ones that put in some effort still ended up with Standard Showgirl, But Make It Patriotic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were occasional science-themed costumes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the unforgettable Optimus Prime one, of course. But also I somehow missed the year when Miss USA was literally just an Emmy Awards statuette???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m hitting the mobile image limit and I haven’t even gotten to the Sexy Minuteman outfit yet, so I’m going to have to continue this (and actually answer the question) in a reblog.

Reblogs and Comments are greatly appreciated!!
__________________________________________________________________________
Prompt: Fluffy imagine with Louis from MTP
Word Count: 0.5k
Fandom(s): Moriarty the Patriot
Pairing(s): Louis James Moriarty x Reader
Genre(s)/Tag(s): Gender Neutral!Reader, Fluff, Reader is implied to be shorter than Louis
Notes: This is like… Post-Timeskip… So manga spoilers, I guess? I’ll try to keep them to a minimum. (I also haven’t finished the manga; I was reading it as chapters were coming out, but I forgot to keep up with it)
__________________________________________________________________________
“I have a question.” You say suddenly as you break apart a head of lettuce. Louis looks up from where he’s cooking over the stove, eyebrow raised. You are both preparing dinner for the rest of your friends to celebrate William’s return.
“Yes?” He replied, and you look up at the ceiling, suddenly feeling very foolish. You shouldn’t be second-guessing Louis… He has always been so sure of himself since William disappeared. And even before his elder brother disappeared, he was confident in his decisions.
“Do you actually like me?” You say, more under your breath than anything, but Louis hears it.
The ladle stirring the soup stops, and Louis turns to face you, crossing the space between you in a few long strides. He works the knife from your grasp and sets it beside the chopped lettuce, cradling your fingers in his palms.
Your eyes are drawn to his scar, faded and pinkish. Ever since the Final Plan was put into action and William disappeared, Louis had pushed his hair out of his face and ditched his glasses, exposing the self-inflicted scar for the world to see.
Louis grabs your attention by pressing a kiss to your knuckles and holding them to his chest. He looks serious.
“My love, I mean this in the best of ways.” He starts, and you feel your heart skip a beat. Was he going to reject you? “But we’ve been together for three years. We are getting married next year. I plan to spend the rest of my life with you. What the hell do you think?”
At that, you can’t help but laugh. Tears well up and overflow.
“Sorry.” You say, voice cracking and he pulls you into a hug.
“I’m sorry, love. I’ve been neglecting you. With Brother’s return, I haven’t been paying attention to you, and I can tell you’re hurting.” He says, and you huff out another dry laugh.
“What kind of partner am I if I can’t handle you planning a simple dinner?” You reply and feel him press a kiss to your temple.
It isn’t long before you both return to your respective duties, working like a well-oiled machine to finish dinner preparations in record time. You leave Louis to set the table while you gather everyone who is waiting in the parlor. Just before you enter the room to let everyone know that dinner is ready, you slip on your engagement ring.
It’s a simple gold band engraved with Louis’s initials. His has your initials engraved on the inside as well. Because it’s a reminder that you’ll always have a part of him and his love with you. And vice versa.
You open the parlor door with a smile that stretches wider at Moran’s loud complaint of, “It’s about time!”
“If you’ll follow me to the dining room, we can begin dinner.” You say, twisting the ring around and around your finger.
You were silly to have doubted your fiancé. You knew he loved you fiercely. And you loved him just as intensely in return.

Old Habits
“She wanted company—doesn’t do too well in crowds but says she likes the energy.”
“And you?”
“What?”
“Like the energy?” James offers her a look that's a mixture of teasing and earnestness.
“I like your energy.”
Back to endless fluff and pre-dating pining for @jilytoberfest Day 19: “You could say it a hundred times and I still won’t listen.”---though I feel the prompt got away from me a bit.
(PS. I originally had this scenario idea for one of the kinktober prompts but then found it worked for jilytober nicely. Maybe I will write a part two that continues the scene with a steamy moment, but I sort of like that it's just a soft tender minute between our two idiots. We'll see I guess~)
AO3 Here
“Why are you wearing that, you didn’t even play today.”
She nods her head towards the shining letters spelling out Gryffindor emblazoned on his jersey and he looks down like it’s the first time he’s noticing.
“Dunno, guess I was just feeling…patriotic?”
Lily snorts, handing James another butterbeer from the table. Around them yellow and black confetti hangs in the air, plush couches full of slightly tipsy Hufflepuffs celebrate their victory against Ravenclaw.
“Well it’s very conspicuous of you. Especially since their win means you are the next opponent.”
“Something tells me I’ll be ok.” He flashes a smile and Lily feels a familiar surge of energy, still not sure if it’s a positive or negative sensation.
They aren’t the only non-Hufflepuffs to grace the hive-like common space, but they are in the vast minority. Being two of maybe five other people not sporting some straining shade of yellow, she tells herself that's the reason he was easily found leaning against the perpetually sunny circular windows, looking just at ease in a rival living space as he would his own sitting room.
James regards her from over his bottle as he takes another swig.
“So what brings a fellow Gryffindor into the honey pot?”
Lily nods over to Pandora who is distracted by some cacti in the corner that are looking under nourished.
“She wanted company—doesn’t do too well in crowds but says she likes the energy.”
“And you?”
“What?”
“Like the energy?” James offers her a look that's a mixture of teasing and earnestness.
Lily snorts. “Can’t really say what this nebulous energy means, but I guess it's fine.” She smiles back, something she’s been doing more of recently: smiling in his direction and actually meaning it.
“Yourself?”
“I like your energy.”
Her cheeks flood with color and she tries to cover it by taking a sip from her bottle. His eyes alight but the grin that usually follows when he catches her in a moment of embarrassment doesn’t come. Instead he looks down nervously, heel toeing his feet around the plush shag carpet.
“I’m sorry, I should know better.” He begins, and Lily feels a cold air stir the otherwise cozy room. “It’s just—after yesterday...” His words teeter into the air and suspend there, the set of his shoulders tense.
“If you could just–”
“I told you, I don’t know.” She murmurs, shrugging.
The kiss they shared yesterday had been chaste. Delicate and tender and over faster than it had occurred. They hadn’t talked about it since, Lily actively ignoring him at every turn to not have to answer for her actions. She couldn’t explain what had come over her in the darkness of her patrols, tugging his arm to follow her back to the dorms when she caught him out past curfew. It had just felt right, but to admit that to him was impossible. He would want more than that and she had nothing else to give.
James slouches his shoulders, deflated without an answer. He looks up and opens his mouth to plead a case, but a bellowing whoop cuts through thick air, stirring them. Harvey Alton, the Hufflepuff beater, slopes his way beside Lily, cheeks already rosy from a few drinks.
“Hey jagoff! Looks like I’ll be playing you next!” Harvey gives a playful punch to James’ arm, who stares at the point of impact with a deadpan expression.
“Sure seems that way, Alton.” James responds flat, flickering a look at Lily with eyes trying to finish what his words couldn’t.
Harvey makes a loud laugh and turns to her, stare going soft and cloying like a camera changing its aperture.
“Hiya Evans! Glad you could make it!” He leans in for an awkward side hug, which Lily accepts out of politeness more than anything. She feels his hand linger on the small of her back.
“You here with someone?”
Out of the corner of her eye she can see James lean farther into the window, taking a swig of his drink while running his hand through his hair. The ends stick up straight in all directions, giving the impression that he is the one who flew to victory and not Alton.
“Yeah, Pandora, though it seems she’s found better company with the plants.”
Alton nods, lips twisting upwards. It’s an expression she knows all too well: a bloke who thinks he has a chance.
“Well, I was getting tired of the boys if you want to come sit with me? Maybe you didn’t get the memo but you don’t have to only converse with your housemates.”
He gives a wink to James who just stares back, jaw firm.
“Actually–I should be getting back—”
“Oh, c’mon.”
“No, but I have a potions essay.”
“Aw, Lily you can’t leave already!”
James, who had become very interested in the decor since Alton showed up, snapped his head back to them at the sound of her name. Lily looked up at him, eyes slanted, curious if his boldness came from the alcohol or pure stupidity.
“Er, I—”
“I was actually about to walk her out.” James stands up, dusting his pants with his hands. When he moves, his jersey catches the light from the charmed sunlight and glints like fire.
“Oh, really? I mean, if you wanna keep enjoying the party, I’m happy to walk her.”
“No, but thanks.” James doesn’t even try to cover up the firmness in his voice.
“Evans? You ready?” He raises his eyebrows at her and starts for the door. Lily catches his step, not bothering to say bye to a still preoccupied Pandora.
They say nothing as they walk towards Gryffindor Tower but what their conversation lacks, James’ hands make up for. With every other step he ruffles his hair, somehow reaching new levels of dishevelment.
She knows it's his nervous habit, but she had been under the impression he had grown out of it. No longer the first thing he did the second he saw her, she would dare to even say that his hair had been looking more presentable as the year went on. But for whatever control he had been showing for the rest of the time he was now making up for, switching hands to comb his fingers relentlessly, pushing the strands into a more unruly mass.
“Potter..” she sighs, sounding more like a warning.
He keeps his eyes forward, hands compulsively traveling from head to his side every other minute.
“If you are angry about Alton, don’t be. He was just pissed.” She hopes this will calm his nerves, but it doesn’t. Hands continue to move upwards, hair tousling in its own private storm surge.
“He’s never really even talked to me—dunno why he thought he could use my name..” Silence, hand twitching upwards.
“Merlin’s sake, I’ve told you a million times I hate it when you do that— will you just quit it,” she huffs. James’ hands freeze at his sides, looking like he’s been kicked from behind.
She turns towards him, completely flustered. “I swear to Christ one of these days you are going to go bald because you keep—you keep doing this.”
She lurches forward on the tips of her toes and thrusts both hands into his hair, twisting the strands between the pads of her fingers. His hair feels soft, like silk. Not at all ratty or knotted like she had assumed from his tormenting.
It only takes a second to realize what she has done and she moves to recoil away from him. Reflexes better than hers, he grabs onto her wrists, pressing her hands firmly into his head, forcing their eyes to meet.
“You are so–lovely.”
His voice is soft in disbelief. “Do you know—you must know how lovely you are.”
He removes his grasp on her wrists, but her hands linger, their bodies naturally pressing together.
“Tell me why you kissed me yesterday,” he whispers, his breath hot on her face. She could unravel her hands from his hair, push him away, deflect any or all knowledge of what he is referring to. Instead, she knots them in farther, dissolving into him.
“I don’t know.”
“Then can I refresh your memory?”
She is suddenly breathless, his mouth pressing into hers, hands finding her waist and small back.
When he pulls away his mouth hovers over hers, breath sweet and warm. His hair slips softly between her fingers.
“Well?” She feels his bottom lip slide over hers and a thumb circles into her hip. Her mouth pulls into a smile, clinging to his roots so as to not completely crumble under him.
“I’m still not sure,” she says against his mouth, already slotting her lower lip between his, "Remind me again.”

curious about the pondwater kids?
no? too bad.
here’s a little introduction to them! warning? it’s got war topics and stuff, yeah.
Tumblr media
katja loi is the older one, 13-14, roughly. she’s, technically, imperial. after a siege, her hometown came under nation occupation. she was separated from her parents (she’s aware on some level they’re in a camp somewhere - she doesn’t want to think about it) and shipped away from the front, to a ‘boarding school’ - assuming children are more impressionable, it’s a way to build numbers. her education’ll be thick with eusan nation propaganda. figure the imperial children live in dorms, cared for mostly by EULRs. they’re just livestock for the war, unless they get lucky and have a desirable skill.
she’s very, how do you say, cynical. she’ll stay alive at all costs and blames her parents for their stubbornness and their belief in the empire. she thinks both sides are rotten (good for her) but will do anything to survive. on a lighter note, though, she’s an artist! not a very good one yet, she says. she mostly draws to escape the stress of just being alive.
frederic, the younger one, ‘bout 10-11, was in born nation-occupied kitzeh, at the heart of nation operations. parents were die-hard nation patriots from the start. he’s a keep-your-head-down type, he just reads and reads and reads - even if the words mean nothing at all. he dreads his mandatory military service more than anything, even if it’s not in active combat, something about it just scares him. due to a job change, he was moved with his parents and siblings to a more rural area. too bad though, it gets wiped off eusan nation maps not long later. stormed by imperial ‘rebels’ at some point. maybe right after the vinetan blockade, due to the troop and armaments interruption as the nation focuses on dismantling the blockade (so giving the imperials an upper hand on kitzeh temporarily, maybe? dunno) either way, that place? razed.
so he loses his family (as in they’re definitely dead. definitely) and winds up with katja (jumpscare. that’s where her school was.) and, well, i guess everyone dying around you is one way to start a friendship. it’s not a very good one, more like a fearful (in frederic’s case mostly) pact to keep each other alive. katja is a fiercely determined type and swears to him they’ll get away from the war one way or another. frederic figures if he dies, he might as well die trying to ... not die. which is how they end up at the nearest nation military base, trying to stowaway on a ship to rotfront and not even getting close before they’re discovered by an ARAR of all things.
an ARAR who is definitely not a normal ARAR because she actually says nothing and just... hides them. odd. i’ll yap about their dynamics one day, but now you know how they got here?

Proud To Be American (Dr. Spencer Reid x OC Coworker)
Tumblr media
Summary: A BAU coworker is feeling down after a less-than-exciting 4th of July and Spencer schemes with the team to try and cheer them up.
“Welcome back!”
Penelope gives a big wave and the rest of the BAU joins in from where they’re standing at their desks. Usually I join in with their back-to-work celebrations but my holiday weekend didn’t go exactly as planned.
“Hey, guys.” My attempt to sound optimistic slides by Garcia but the profilers pick up on it right away.
“You alright, girlie?” Morgan asks. “Where’s your patriotic spirit?”
I walk past their section of the office to the break room. Sorry everyone but I’d rather just get through this Monday without wishing my plans weren’t interrupted.
“Hi?”
At least there’s one person who can lift my spirits.
“Hello, Dr. Reid. How was your weekend? See any fireworks?”
The kind man offers a cup of lemonade. He’s only been here a few seconds and I’m already forgetting about why I’m upset.
“Actually I didn’t do much for Independence Day,” Reid replies. “I took the time to catch up on some reading and watched some TV.”
“Oh? And how many books did you get through this time? Twenty?”
“Thirty five, actually.” His gaze narrows and I can feel him analyzing me. “Please tell me what’s wrong.”
There’s no trying to lie to him. Even if I refuse to say anything he’ll pry it out eventually.
“I- Everything changed.” I take a sip of lemonade and let its sour sweetness trickle down my throat. “Last weekend I was supposed to celebrate with my family. You know, the usual barbeque. Swimming, watching fireworks. But then some family drama happened and I spent the weekend stuck going through furniture.” Another sip. “Not exactly how I wanted to spend my holiday weekend. Instead of watching fireworks I reminisced through old memories.”
“Reid!”
Spencer looks back where Hotch is calling his team to the bullpen.
“I’ll catch you before we head out,” Reid says and walks off to the meeting.
I appreciate all that they do but each case does take its toll. Every time Spencer comes back there’s always something new. Another death. Since I only work in the office I never see any carnage. He’s thanked me before for giving him an excuse to talk about things other than work.
The new case must have little to discuss because the meeting’s already over. Prentiss and Morgan walk past my desk to grab coffee and JJ’s already going through paperwork.
“Hey!” Spencer comes over and bounces on his feet. “This case is only a few hours away. When we’re done Rossi is planning on having a small get-together at his place. Wanna join us?”
“She is joining us,” Rossi speaks for me and puts a hand on my shoulder. “No Fourth of July celebration? We’ll fix that.”
My eyes widen. “Oh, no. That’s not-”
“You need some of my Nero d’Avola. You prefer wine, correct?”
This man is so Italian it’s not even funny. “Yes, sir. But it’s really-”
“Wonderful! You’re going.”
He walks off to join Hotch. Reid and I exchange looks.
“Guess I’m going,” I shrug. “Did you put him up to this?”
Spencer shakes his head. “I just told them why you were feeling upset and he suggested a party.”
“Party? You said this was a ‘small get-together!’”
“Yes. You, me, and the rest of the team. It’s always a party when Rossi is hosting.”
The doctor gives me one last smile and grabs his satchel before heading to the door.
“I’ll await your triumphant return, Dr. Reid! Good luck.”
Good fortune does smile upon the BAU because the case is closed in a matter of days. The second the team walks back through the office Reid heads straight to my desk.
“Ready for tonight?”
I smile and start putting away today’s documents. “That's all I’ve been thinking about!” And you too.
A pair of hands grabs my shoulders and suddenly Penelope is steering me out.
“Time to clock out. Let’s go!”
Half an hour later and I’m literally forced to sit down in a lawn chair. Everyone's still in the Fourth of July spirit because we're all wearing star-spangled swim attire. It’s how I imagined a party with the BAU would look. Hotch and Rossi watching everyone like concerned dads. Morgan and Garcia having a drinking session. Prentiss and JJ sunbathing. And of course Spencer telling me all about a new topic. Today’s is the danger of sun rays.
“Exposure to sun increases melanin, which causes darker skin. Thus creating a sun tan. Too much sun exposure is an easy cause for melanoma. Everyone should wear sunscreen regardless of skin color.” He picks up my tube of sunscreen and examines the contents. Then- And then pats up my arm.
“Wh-What are you doing?” We both notice my arm tense up.
“Seeing if you rubbed it in thoroughly,” Reid explains. “Then it won’t wash off in the pool.”
Hm. I know he’s not exactly the most touch-friendly person in the world. So this must be a thoughtful gesture for his standards.
“Thanks, Spencer. I appreciate it.”
It’s no secret to the team that I consider Spencer more than a friend. But the key secret they don’t know is that a month ago we both finally broke down and went on what some would call an interview. We call it a date. It went very smoothly and we both agreed to begin a reasonable courtship without massive commitment. I guess that’s transitioned to worrying about my skin care.
“Is this what young people do?” I ask out loud, looking out at the team. “Hang out with other young people on sporadic occasions?”
“Yes.”
“Hm. I think I skipped that part.” Spencer laughs and I nudge his shoulder. “Hey! You have an excuse. You were graduating college when I was graduating high school! My lame excuse is that I like hanging out at home too much.”
“Speaking of which, when should we discuss meeting arrangements?” Spencer asks.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean do we hang out only at your place, my place, both places? We could maybe do a colored chart or specific weekly pattern-”
“Let me pause you right there.” I hold up a hand. “Spencer, your organization skills are next to perfect. But we don’t have to have everything planned by the book. Feel free to stop by whenever you like.”
His chocolate eyes have never looked so bright. “Oh, thanks! I was worried our relationship might be too sporadic, with my job taking me all over the country, and didn’t think-”
“Hey guys!” Morgan waves from across the yard. “Get over here!”
A smile spreads onto Reid’s face and he grabs my hand. “This is the best part.”
I’m pulled to the other side of the pool and there’s a lounge chair set up for me.
“What’s this for?”
“Just wait!” Penelope giggles and refills my glass.
What on Earth? “Wait. Where’s Hotch-?”
Kaboom! Weeee! Boom!
A palette of colors explodes across the darkening sky. Sparklers, firecrackers, fountains, roman candles!
“Oh my goodness!” I gawk at the magnificent patriotic display.
“We’re part of the FBI!” Rossi shouts over the noise.
“Of course we can find ways to obtain fireworks!” Hotch adds.
I turn around and the BAU leader steps out from behind the fence.
“Happy Independence Day!” Prentiss and JJ cheer.
Reid squeezes my hand and I’m still staring at the awe-inspiring explosions in the sky.
“You did this for me?”
“Everyone deserves to celebrate being an American,” Morgan inputs. “She’s our employer! And what better way than to legally blow stuff up?”
“Thank you all so much!” I gush. “This is amazing!”
Spencer leans in and whispers: “What do you say to watching The Patriot with commentary at your place afterwards?”
All disappointment from last weekend is obliterated. “It’s a date!”
Hotch disappears again and another round of fireworks lights up the sky.
Boom! Wizzz! Ka-bang!
"And I'm proud to be an American...!" Morgan begins to belt loudly.
God bless this country!

I guess there's no better day to drop my silly little les mis playlists! e/R playlist under the cut for length, since I've added relevant lyrics.
Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears for Fears
There’s a room where the light won’t find you / holding hands while the walls come tumbling down / when they do I’ll be right behind you / so glad we almost made it
(planning an animatic for this one once I learn how to animate! This song is so them coded)
The Secret Garden by The Divine Comedy
So much time and so little to do / I furnish my mind with pictures of you / Fading portraits, peculiar names / Replaced by your face in a big golden frame
Golden fragments of moments in time / Tarnished with guilt for an innocent crime
The Rise and Fall by The Divine Comedy

Dead or Alive- Chapter 12 (James Bond x reader)
Hello.
You hated how quickly you dashed across to your laptop. You paused before settling down on your sofa, wondering exactly why you had been so quick to read the message. It was either going to be Bond or Q or your new found enemy. Either way, you were going to get pissed off. Unfortunately for you, it was your new enemy. You grimaced as you typed,
What do you want?
I figured out what I want you to do.
And then will you leave me alone?
It depends.
On what?
How well you complete this little task
You drummed your figures against your laptop. You can’t exactly rely on this person but then again, who could rely on who in this game.
Well. What do you want?
Personnel details.
Personal details? Surely you can get those yourself.
I see that reading is not one of your strong points. Personnel not personal. Well, it’s a good thing those a less relevant to what I need
You narrowed your eyes at that statement. You could tell that this mystery person was just trying to piss you off. Wanting to see how you’d react. But you weren’t going to rise to the bait. No. If you did things could end up worse for you. They had access to your laptop which meant your life. You just had to bide your time.
And what is it that you need? You typed eventually
It took a while for your ‘friend’ to reply. You rolled your eyes and went to make yourself a cup of tea. Damn them if they think they could keep you waiting. You still had your life to live. It didn’t revolve around them. When you came back you were pleased to see that they had done you the grace of actually messaging back. Unfortunately it wasn’t to say that they leave you alone.
Bank details.
Whose?
I want you to guess.
Fine. Well, it must be fairly important for you to… outsource this. Will I be getting paid?
So mercenary. Isn’t me not betraying you enough?
You already betrayed me. We have a code of honour in this line of work
Of course
So risky enough for you not to do it yourself. Maybe something related to the government?
Getting closer
Civil Service?
Well, some people might argue that this is part of it but I’d disagree
You frowned at the message before it finally hit you. You recoiled slightly and shook your head. You wished that you had gotten something stronger than tea to drink.
No. No. The Secret Service?
I want the bank account details for their employees.
All of them?
Let’s start with six and work from there
And what will you do with this information?
I don’t see how that is of any concern of yours.
Are you planning on selling this data?
Why are you so concerned?
Because people could die from me selling you this!
Whoever said anything about me paying you?
You know what I mean…
I never took you to be a patriot
I’m not but I dislike people dying
I’ll give you until the end of the week
And if I don’t do this?
Then you won’t like the consequences. Don’t make me come and find you.
And with that they logged off. You slumped against your sofa, mouth opened. Fuck, you really stuck between and rock and a hard place. You couldn’t see anyway out of this without seriously fucking up.

I’ve been thinking about something in Moriarty the Patriot for a while now.
Did everyone forget Louis and William are flesh and blood brothers?
Like they were 6 and 10(I think) when they met Albert.
I wanna explain myself but I’ll be mentioning things from the Final Problem arc in case you don’t want spoilers or haven’t gotten that far.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I understand that William and Louis see Albert as a brother and vice versa but it’s not the same as how Louis and William feel, especially Louis.
Moran probably sees the three as younger brothers, obviously he sees Fred as one, but again not the same.
Keep in mind Louis is very sheltered and believes William is an angel, basically worshiping the ground he walks on. He will do anything for William.
I like Moran as a character for the most part, he’s cool and all.
Unfortunately I don’t care for Irene/Bond. They’re ok I guess but not my cup of tea.
Albert on the other hand is up there on my favorite character list. He’s probably my 2nd favorite character.
But during the Final Problem when Louis and Fred want to ask Sherlock for help Moran and Bond gang up to scold them for doing so.
Fred is upset because he’s the youngest and sees William as an older brother. Obviously he doesn’t want him to die and gets emotional about it.
When it comes to Louis though Moran basically pulls a Louis and scolds him for wanted to go against William and ruin the plan.
Bond and Moran clearly don’t want William to die but they’re willing to look the other way and say it’s for the best. But it makes them seem like assholes to Louis.
Did they forget Louis is William’s flesh and blood and has a deeper connection to his brother? Did they also forget he’s just a child? Yes he’s 21 and an adult but 21 is still just a child.
How can they expect someone so young and sheltered to not react like he does?
I understand that Louis and Irene/Bond are the same age but they grew up extremely different. So naturally I imagine she grew up quickly, got smart in the ways of the world and is more cynical. Therefore her reaction to William taking the burden(I.e it’s for the best) wasn’t surprising to me. But compared to Louis who was kept at the manor, only leaving for errands and the occasional mission isn’t as knowledgeable as Bond. So that comparison is invalid.
Louis is desperate to not be alone and knowing William wants to die and die alone is heartbreaking. He believed he and William would die together and to have that suddenly changed was probably whiplash.
Louis was brave enough and desperate enough to put aside his feelings and resentment to ask Sherlock for help, but Moran and Bond basically gut punch him saying that was the wrong idea.
Just because they want to bury their feelings doesn’t mean they should scold Louis for voicing his anguish and hurt.
Am I the only one who feels like this?
Idk
Just my thoughts and opinions

Writers Truth & Dare Ask Game
🧃 🍬🍦 🧩
lol couldn’t be me losing the original post for ages and forgetting what all these stand for!! Sorry! I found it again now!
🧃personal lore I’ve never posted about before… shit I’m an over-sharer, everything remotely fun I’ve probably talked about! Maybe… my dad used to run a deep sea fishing (tourism) company so I spent most of my childhood/teen years on boats. I briefly held the African record for largest barracuda caught on a certain line weight. Niche and weird, like the rest of my life!
🍬 an unpopular opinion about a popular character… eish I’m quite basic tbh! Is it particularly unpopular to say really close friendships should be more valued? I mean I still write romance more than anything else so I should probably be the change I see in the world! I don’t know how unpopular it is to say Steve Rogers isn’t particularly patriotic, he should probably be captain Bucky or captain worrying willingness to self sacrifice or captain moral compass but not captain America.
🍦three good things about a character I hate - I find movie Thanos so poorly conceived that he’s got to be the one I choose! 1) he’s got a good voice 2) he would have been an excellent villain if they didn’t try to convince people he had a point (ecofascism is stupid) and 3) he has an interesting motivations in the comics
🧩 what will make you click away from a fanfic immediately - how I’m feeling at the time. Sometime an otherwise excellent story just doesn’t vibe with me that day, other days I’m so hungry for content I’ll read anything. I do struggle with really poor grammar and punctuation, it takes me out of it. Also phrases like ‘one Loki Laufeyson’ or ‘a certain Bucky Barnes’, I don’t know why, it just bugs me. I hear it in my head in a twattish voice. Probably my own posh ass voice.
Guess what though? Now I’m gonna ask you back:
🦋🪲 (muahahah) 🌿🍄

A Butchlander fanfic
Tumblr media
a/n: took a while but i managed to write something, updates will be slow but thank you for reading, not proofread I die with this as i ease myself into this again.
edit... forgot to add link to prev chap:
tags: slow burn, romance, dadlander, drama.
Sypnopsis: au where Becca stays with Butcher and passes Ryan as Billy's and is Billy who has to deal with Homelander after the death of his wife
Chapter 2
The woman stared at the vial with incredulity.
He hadn’t invited her in to talk simply handling her this vial on his driveway, naming it ‘Compound V’... something she had never heard before– before asking her to leave and keep low, he didn’t offer explanations simply asking for her hand in case he had to do disappear with Ryan on a short notice, whatever had happened it had him on edge and anxious to get her away from him as soon as possible either for his or her own safety she guessed. So she forgave his rudeness for whatever this was, had him hearing specters in the grass– It certainly wasn’t because he wanted to clean up the place for Ryan based on his appearance clean clothes but dirty hair, the smoke coming from the chimney was the only unusual thing she noted
“What’s on your mind?” She asks, unable to stand his troubled expression any longer.
“I don’t know if am gonna be in trouble.” He smiles weerily– but I’ll need to keep him distracted if I hope to get away from him.”
“Him?”
“Homelander…”
“What does he have to do with any of this?”
“You need to leave Mallory.”
She should’ve found a way to keep an eye on him, but she took the vial and left. Sensing a peculiar unease in his voice that didn’t often come from him.
“Is a bit warm to have the fireplace lit up.”
Butcher meet the Supe in his living room almost having a heart attack on the spot, he looked away trying to calm himself while hoping the Supe had been too self-absorbed to notice but Homelander had just chosen not to care, having more pressing matters in mind.
Seeing he’d brought a gift box, Butcher studied his appearance, it look rigid yet desperate to appear approachable– boots had been polished and oiled, his gloves tucked under his arm, the flap of his suit down to reveal patriotic red, and his hair had been re-touched overnight there had been more brown on his undercut last time, now it had an almost strawberry tint blending into the browns to appear more natural if he had to take a guest, even brushed to the side lightly, Butcher scoffed finding it all quite funny that he would do all of this to look so artificial– no sterile instead of just looking like whatever his normal self was, perhaps all celebs were like this Butcher thought, yet he did found the present a bit charming.
“I thought I would bring him a present.” He said softly.
“I was burning some stuff…” He picks a couple cushions off the ground, kicking a dog’s toy to the side– what’s in the box?”
“A baseball glove– it’s my favorite sport. I want to share my passion, I guess.”
Butcher examines the rather fancy wrapping of the box, there’s layers to it allowing decorations to be tucked in the sleeves, and for the life of him, he can’t find much tape on the sides of it, even the paper had a visible thickness to it that screamed excessive… that said ‘I want to impress you’ in cursive.
“I thought… well my assistant thought it would be a nice way to get to know each other” from one of the paper sleeves he pulls forward a set of tickets– there’s a Yankees’s game next week.”
“I don’t know” He has one look at the tickets– ‘Legends Suite’?? Those are great, no…”
“I thought of getting a private suite but I was discouraged”
Butcher took a deep breath trying to ignore the sparkles from the gift and back to business.
“Look… I… I don’t think you can just come in and tell him you’re his dad, his mom just died, he’s going thru a lot, mate.” He said softly, trying to sound as gentle as he could thinking of the burn scuff marks on his hardwood, hoping it wouldn’t be him, he had a handful of guns hidden across his living room but he knew that it wouldn’t do a thing against the blond– I… think we need to slow down”
“Work friends.”
“What?”
“You work for the CIA, I’m a superhero, we worked together on some cases and we are friends. I came today to give you my condolences and try to cheer you up, and then once Ryan is comfortable with me, I’ll do the honors.” He takes a step closer to Butcher pressing the tickets against his chest– eight guns all over the house… that’s a nice rifle in the closet… packs a hard punch. Try it, find out what’s gonna happen to you if you do.”
Butcher can only scowl at the man.
“We can work together, William. I want this to work out for the sake of my son… but don’t test me.”
“You’re not very good with people are you?”
“I’m a professional actually.” His eyes flash red for a brief moment but his charming smile never fades.
“Come back later. When we’re having dinner.”
“Why? He’s a minute away?”
Butcher walked towards the entrance standing by the red door to catch a glimpse of his in-law’s honda accord driving down the road as it emerged from the trees and shrubs.
He turned in a panic, to see Homelander had followed him half-way.
“You stay in the living room!” He screamed with panic.
Homelander paid attention to the man’s heart rate hoping he would just have a heart attack and die, but as the car moved closer he realized it wasn’t Butcher’s heart rate that he could hear drumming in his ears, but his own.
He wished he had a mirror and somebody to check his teeth, he wanted to make the perfect first impression, and as those light steps hopped off the honda, he could heard a voice in his head yelling, telling him to check his posture, to smile, to breathe calmly and by god to not curse in front of the child or cry, or blurt out something that could only scar him.
He hated the story they were gonna sell him, he wanted to run to him and tell him, he was his father, he wanted to rid of Butcher and take his place beside him, but he couldn’t… he couldn’t risk being rejected by him, when he had this man in his life already, a father that had loved him and protected him, and who at least hadn’t thrown him out, he had at least heard him– he almost wished Saunders was here, if she was he could simply seduced her and take them away from Butcher.
It would’ve been easy if Butcher was a woman, no pretense where the baby came from from the get go, he could’ve lowered himself to seduce the grieving widow if he had to.
As he smelled the anxiety rise from inside of him, he blushed at the thought.
“Feeling better, Billy?”
The older man whose eyes looked more tired than Butcher’s spoke first, after urging the kid to let his dog take a leak before coming inside the house.
He stared at his son-in-law, watching those swollen under eyes, he reeked of mouthwash and his clothes looked crinkled, nervously looking past him to catch a glimpse of Terror or Ryan.
“You really made yourself a fool. You weren’t the only one grieving and you had to make a scene in front of your kid, fucking shameless Billy!”
“I don’t need this, Wayne!” He squeezed his fists– thank you for looking after him, but mind your business.” He spat
“She was my daughter too.” He could’ve growled at him, he looked away with a huff before he could say anything else, both men trying to hold their rage and grief back, both eyes stinging as they looked at each other– feed the kid will ya? He didn’t wanna eat anything and barely got him to have some oats.”
“Thanks for taking care of him, I’ll get some chinese.”
His tone was overly polite and just as aggressive, both men didn’t wish to mingle any further, now without her they didn’t need to be friendly, just amiable enough to not push the other away.
Ryan emerged right on queue, he looked anxious as he let the old stubby dog pull on his leash, barking cheerfully, picking up speed as he saw his dad, his brown locks messy and his eyes just as exhausted as the ones on his pops, Ryan slowed down telling himself to keep smiling not ‘cuz he wanted to but for his father’s sake.
“Hi there scamp!” Butcher doesn’t hesitate taking him in his arms, lifting him up as if he was still a babe and light as a feather, squeezing in to make sure this is not but a dream, and from afar the younger man wished that was him.
Ryan said goodbye and it almost felt like it would be the last time he would see his grandfather something was off about his father, something that smelled wrong, his dog barged in wobbling straight to his food bowl barely noticing the supe in the living room, not that he could say the same about the boy.
His eyes glued themselves on that man, lifting his head, begging to be let go as he traded incredulous looks with his father.
“Dad, why is Homelander in our living room!?”
“I… we…”
“I’m a friend of your dad, from work!” His voice was forceful and rehearsed, irking Billy from the get-go– is nice to meet you, champ!”
Billy kept him close, never letting go of him, hand cemented on his son’s shoulder.
“You know Homelander!?” He said with a childish excitement.
“We met on a case. Top-secret.” he winks– he’s here to visit.” Butcher spits anxiously brushing his hair in a soothing motion.
“I heard about your mom… your dad has been such a good friend of mine, I just wanted to see if you— he was okay.” His voice is so fake it goes back to being believable– here I got you a present.”
The kid took a second to process it, looking back for permission before taking the ornate box into his hands. He waits for a nod before tearing that wrapper off, his excitement shortly dwindles as he finds the leather glove and white and red ball.
“Thought we could go watch a baseball game.”
He looks at the tickets only recognizing the Yankee’s as a big name team and nothing else. Homelander can almost taste his anxiety. This was not what he envisioned, it was completely wrong, voices yelling at him asking why the child wasn’t running after him or why he wasn’t jumping with excitement at his sight! He was the world’s greatest everything and the kid just seemed confused. The kid offered a polite smile and said thank you, taking his present and placing it neatly on the coffee table, as Homelander tried so hard… begging himself to not cry, that voice soothed him telling him he had missed the moment their fingers grazed each other.
“Can’t believe you know Homelander, dad.” the kid took his phone out– can we take a selfie none of my friends will ever believe me!”
That left a bitter taste on his tongue, his first interaction was no different from a paid one, he obliged putting his finest smile, his bitterness washed away as he felt those brown locks tickle his chin, as he took a scent of hypoallergenic detergent and dove soap, the little bit of sweat behind his ears, he could feel how warm his boy was, it was short lived but it lingered… etched on what little skin he’d touched, it soothed him, it made it so real, he could burst.
Ryan was his own… he wasn’t a figment of his imagination… he was flesh and blood, he looked healthy… he was tall and his teeth were straight but above all– he had his eyes and a chirpy voice.
“Mister Homelander needs to go back to work, he was just stopping by, right?”
“...William…”
“lol he called you William” he giggled– thanks for the present!”
“No problem, my pleasure. So do I pick you guys up for the game or meet you at the stadium?”
Butcher tensed up, knowing he really had no choice but to give him an answer, unable to kick him out.
“What do you think buddy? Wanna go check it out? They’re good seats.”
Ryan studied his father’s face seeing how forceful his calmness was, Ryan who only wanted to erase that drunken mess from the other day, looked towards the Supe and how his eyes glistened as they waited for a response.
“Why not!” He said cheerily– I’ve never been to a game before.”
“That’s settled! Now why don’t you go take this to your room and let me and ol’ Homelander have a chat.” Butcher could scream.
The kid isn’t oblivious to the sudden tension between them, brushing it off to bad timing.
“He looks a lot like you.”
Homelander comes back to earth as he’s spoken, giving Butcher his attention once more.
“He… goddammit Becca…” He sniffed, covering his face behind his palms, sinking on his couch as he processed it all– please leave… I’ll be there. I bet you won’t leave me the fuck alone otherwise.”
“I’m glad we are on the same page there, William.” His voice is oddly soft– he’s a lot taller than in the pictures… he doesn’t like baseball does he?”
“You might’ve well invited him to go watch Golf!”
“I can… I can get some other tickets… soccer, you guys have a passport right?”
“He doesn't, we never left the states and am not taking a bloody plane to go watch a match with a stranger.”
“I’m not a stranger! I’m Homelander, the most famous person in the whole world! Can get you a copy of my biography if ya like so you can get to know me.” He says with a sneer– can I stay for dinner then?”
Butcher can only describe his emotion as exasperated.
“I was joking…” He says with his prettiest smile showing his fangs as he pretended not to be hurt– see you next week.”
He lingers at the door, despite his eyes looking into the gardens Butcher can tell he’s listening to those behind him, he’s gone and all that remains is the wide open door.
The days go by excruciatingly fast, in a blink he’s in front of his bathroom mirror trimming his beard, it had been a while since he had bothered to keep tidy, ashamed to have looked this disheveled during his wife’s funeral, outside his bathroom door is Ryan who seems to be more well put than he is talking about wanting to check out some spots while they are in New York if they can after the game sounding so normal it scared him– kids were resilient creatures he said to himself, but he worried that the boy was pretending to be alright. The in-laws had visited, M.M. and his family had stopped by and even help clean up (more like Marvin had simply not stopped himself once he spotted a few too many dirty plates for his taste) he couldn’t say the same about himself until this moment.
Mallory gave him a call and asked him ‘what was his fucking problem?’ whatever he had given her, she’d ended up being called to speak with not just the head of the CIA but the department of Homeland security, she was now without doubt being watched, told to keep quiet and some more.
Calling Butcher was dangerous hence the burner number, he couldn’t see a single suspicious car outside, it would be hard to hide when there was only miles of greenery.
He took a sip of whisky trying to wash away the anxiety of being washed, disconnecting the house phone just to feel safer.
Ryan made no mention about how low the radio volume was, about how quiet he was on the way there, trying not to think of the endless bickering and chatting between his parents, his mother’s scent lingering in the air, her dried coffee tumbler still on the cup holder, an abandoned sweater still in the backseat that filled the space with fading vanilla kisses, Ryan tries not to notice the ghostly whispers in the air, louder than the aircon and the quiet music.
He speaks very little, just grumbling about traffic and parking, complaining until he’s left the car wondering if the parking fee had been too steep for he had never bothered before.
“I can’t see him…” Ryan whispers tugging on Butcher’s shirt.
His cheeks were red knowing he had never once bothered to organize any of this, he simply showed up, not wanting to believe any of this was real, the tickets certainly looked real and the bustling crowd grew bigger and bigger, just a sea of branded clothes and loud people.
It feels hot and heavy as it presses on his shoulder, jolting awake as his body is pushed back effortlessly.
“William you came.” he sounds so happy it hurts.
He hadn’t expected to see him like this, taking a minute to process his appearance, the oversized baseball bomber jacket did very little to hide his thin frame, he expected the padded suit to have been merely ascending his physique not inventing it, Homelander mellow smile died quickly as he felt that man’s piercing gaze on him.
“Wasn’t sure ‘bout the traffic so we got here early, didn’t we?”
“I was gonna say my meeting ran late.”
Both men stared at each other awkwardly, waiting for the child’s response.
With a smile from the boy they both took that as their sign.
He watched from behind as Homelander stood closer and closer to Butcher, how he directed him across the building as if he knew every turn and nook of the stadium, how friendly he was being with him, how much attention he was giving him and his father.
For a game that he had no understanding of, he would admit it was nice that the supe was a walking wiki, both Ryan and Butcher expend most of the time listening to his explanations, it didn’t come off as somebody enamored with his voice, but as someone who wanted to share and they were happy to hear him, it made Homelander’s heart tingle as they asked him to explain what just happened before them or why people were booing upstairs.
Ryan and Butcher could only guess what was going on in his head but he was not scary at all.
he was nice.
“Thanks, I think the kid liked it.” he turned to him as they waited for Ryan to come out the toilet– it was good to get out of the house.”
Butcher didn’t want to admit he’d had a good time even if it was all gibberish to him.
“I got us some dinner reservations…”
“Normal people get full after some steak topped fries and fried chicken subs, sorry but I think we have to pass–
“You and me tomorrow.”
“Bit too early for a rebound.”
Homelander blushed, realizing how it had come out as.
Butcher tried to brush it off with a chuckle turning awkward as he realized this guy wasn’t his buddy so not used to his banter.
“Discussing Ryan! As if you’ve be so lucky.” Homelander fixed his jacket– I’ll pick you up at 7 tomorrow night. Also tell your friend Mallory she has nothing to worry about, just tell her not to be nosey.”
“I gather this Compound V shite is–
“Shhh... Hope you like Indian.”
“I’m english mate I sure luv me a tikka massala…”
“Good.”

Haha, do you have a personal grievance with every fast food place on your list😂😂? If so can I know what burger king did to you?
Yes most of the places on that list have wronged me in some way not Arby’s though I actually unironically like Arby’s I just know no one else really does lol.
Burger King gave me food poisoning one time. And the worst part is it was their disgusting nasty fries that did it. Them things ain’t fit to eat how it is and they nearly sent me to the hospital but I’m American so I toughed it out went and laid down and hoped I didn’t die like a true patriot 🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸. I am built Ford Tough. Also after I knew I was really sick I called them to let them know their fries might be battered in rat poison and the manager was just like “what do you want us to do about it?” Like nothing I guess homie damn guess I’ll just die next time. I wasn’t even rude about it because I was literally so sickly I was sleeping on the bathroom floor on the rug by the sink in a state of delirium drifting in and out of consciousness. So naturally I never went back but I always hated it anyway and only got it that day because Dairy Queen was closed because it was after 10 and I really just wanted French fries one day so that was literally all I got.

hmmm writing this down here so I don’t forget I guess
seeing stars and say yes were originally supposed to be one fic spanning seven years and obviously that didn’t happen because it turns out seven years is a long fucking time
but there’s one deleted scene from the time between that’s near and dear to my heart in which Chuckie was gonna be working on some trade school related homework to do with geometry (cause if you’re gonna build houses you do have to understand spatial relationships) and maybe it’s taking a while
and Will sits down beside him and looks over his shoulder and starts pointing out the answers— and this becomes their first real argument that we see. obviously it’s ripping off the organic chem scene with Skylar in the movie because I think it’s something we see over and over from Will, that it’s SO easy for him and he just doesn’t get how other people have to work so much harder at it— and he really does think he’s helping, is the thing
because for him it’s just oh let me do this in fifteen seconds so it’s done and we can spend some time together— almost like “oh don’t worry about it I’ll do the dishes” XD— because for him homework was only ever busywork
but for Chuckie, this is something he has to do himself, because he’s gotta learn this stuff, and it kinda feels like— what, you don’t think I can learn this? you think I’m too stupid to figure this out on my own? because I think for a long long time he’s been struggling with the idea that he’s not good enough for Will in the same way that little league and patriots games and Southie itself aren’t good enough, and that’s part of what lead to the California thing in the first place
and obviously he knows it’s all bullshit— because Will came back, because Will chose him, because he knows Will loves him and would never think he’s stupid just because he’s no Ramanujan, he KNOWS all this— but still. those insecurities are still there, and it stings
BUT they’re two grown ass people who love each other very much so they talk it out like adults instead of flying off the handle, and Will backs off a little so Chuckie can finish, and Chuckie gives him stuff to check and asks him for an explanation, NOT the answer, to a difficult problem, and when it’s all done Will finally gets Chuckie’s undivided attention XD
