umm, i've always been too shy to ask for a request for my favorite orv character, but i guess it's now or never i think. If it's not too much trouble, could you make a yandere yoo joonghyuk x regressor reader? (I've never seen someone write a yandere yjh And I always thought yjh has a lot of material to cover if he was a yandere, it can be any kind of scenario or headcanons of what a yandere yoo joonghyuk would be like for his reader/s/o, I hope that this could be understood because I'm not very good at English and I'm still practicing. ˙˚ʚ(´◡`)ɞ˚˙( my first language its Spanish maybe it's for that 😭, sorry if this request sounds weird or something) (btw reader can be fem or gn I don't mind (ノ´∀`*)
awh im so happy you got the courage to request hehe your english is amazing!! <33
yandere yjh x regressor reader
Yjh's pov
Regressing over and over again... tiring...so tiring. But you by my side with our memories, we'll be able to get through this together. Oh how i love you so. I can't imaging life without you. Please don't leave me. You cant leave me.
Your pov
I open my eyes to see the train again. I'm tired of this all.
[kill one or more living organisms]
i stared at the blue screen blankly. Why me? My eyes dulled at the sight of everyone panicking. you should all be hoping you die soon, the future holds only living hell. i hung my head low. That man...That wretched man. why must he come to me? A pipe was swung at my head as a passenger tried to kill me. It hurt. a lot. but what hurt more was knowing that he would always find me. I closed my eyes.
[you have died]
=
I open my eyes to see the train again. I suppose dying on the train isn't too bad.
[kill one or more living organisms]
....
A pipe was swung at my head as a passenger tried to kill me.
[you have died]
=
I open my eyes to see the train again. This is nice. my new home. Without him. I wonder how he must feel.
....
[you have died]
.
[you have died]
.
[you have died]
.....
[you have died]
..............[you have died]
.............[you have died]
.........[you have died]
..............[you have died]
............[you have died]..........[you have died].........[you have died]
=
I open my eyes to see the train again. But. Its different. Someone's shadow covers my body. I look up to find the man who gave me hell.
Why?
"You shouldn't have done all that. Do you know what I've had to do to regress to you?" A tightening grip on my wrist. It seems those days, weeks, months, regressing in the first scenario are over. My gaze meets his. I feel fear for the first time in a while. This man...is a man of few words. He speaks through actions. These actions are violence.
He sighed. "Will you fucking reply? I'm not talking to a brick wall here am i?" I stare at him blankly. I see. He's grown increasingly less patient. What can you really expect from a man like him. "Sorry." Now that i am in his view, I must not make him mad. Of course im scared but...i'm used to this behavior of his. somewhat similar to a child of sorts. "Sorry? Is that what you fucking call this?" He grabbed a fist full of my hair. I wince in pain. "I-I missed you love." That always gets him. He let go of my hair and hugged me. "I'm sorry [name]...you made me do this."
"Yes this is my fault. I'm sorry." A stab though his abdomen wounded him. I watched as he died. If only i could do this every times. Passing the first scenario and the constellation sponsor, i focused on rallying the allies he once had.
~~timeskip
anna croft. i liked her. after all, an enemy of an enemy is a friend. but now i am well aware that she'd sacrifice me too if it meant achieving her goal. I must play my cards well.
~~timeskip
ah. it seems i have fainted. i look out he window. is this the infamous demon realm? A man strides through the door.
No..it cant be! I-I killed him! Fuck! did something go wrong? "Are you feeling better dear? it was troubling to turn you into a demon but it was definitely worth it." He smiled sickeningly sweetly at me. Demon? What-What does he mean by that? I felt the top of my head but in place of where some hair should be was a pair of horns instead. "What did you do to me?.." I started to cry. I though- I thought i had escaped him! That I could be free and happy once more. Why? What went wrong?
"Ah you must be concerned of my well being! How kind of you to do so after stabbing me." I noticed the cold heavy metal chains that were connected to the bed frame. He slowly un chained the bed and chained it to himself.
~~
I became...some sort of pet of his. Asmodeus, the demon king, was certainly amused. Turns out he had helped the vile creature in coming back to life rather than regressing. And for some reason, I couldn't die.
"I love you, [name]." He kissed my forehead goodnight. "See how happy we are? why did you want to stop me? stop us? I hope you have reflected on yourself..." He smiled at me, petting my head softly.
This really is hell.

what do you like about rotmhs? like what draws you in?
GAHH IM SO GLAD YOU ASKEDDD at the top of my head thhe top three things i felt really drew me into and made me fall in love w rotmhs is the found family/bonds before blood narrative, the action/fight scenes, and the comedy..
rotmhs is not a romance and i feel like that really pushes people away from reading it, especially folks who were first introduced to east asian novels through bl (specifically mxtxs novels like mdzs tgcf etc etc) which i feel is incredibly disappointing because yallre missing out on a certain depth of writing and nuance you otherwise wouldnt get in a romance focused novel. (orv is another extremely popular knovel with no romance.. if you like orv PLEASE give rotmhs a shot)
rotmhs is about a dead man resurrected a hundred years into the future having to come to terms w the fact that everyone he loved is dead and that the only home he ever had was destroyed, its inhabitants and centuries worth of teachings burned to the ground, and that it was partially his fault these things happened, so in order to prevent a future catastrophe he knows is on the horizon, he trains the youth of this new generation and finds a new home surrounded by ghosts in the wreckage of his home of his past
⬆️…very dramatic but somewhat accurate barebones synopsis of rotmhs which is fairly faithful enough methinks.. rotmhs doesnt make a point of going ‘heyy these guys are family nowww theyre brothers and sisters and love each other like familyyy’ LOL the growth is very subtle and before u can really blink ur like ‘oh man.. chung myung would kill for these kids. obliviously though. i dont think he knows he even likes them’ all the while hes still aching w the loss of his loved ones before.. if we’re being really really honest chung myung, the mc, truly is the star of the show and a character i got attached to incredibly quickly.. hes so stupid but so smart he has so many issues i want to hit him with my car then nurse him back to health just to hit him again
chung myung himself is a whole other thing i could get into but he has so many layers.. so much depth.. on the surface ud look at him and think what a punk but look a little closer and then ud think oh this punk has depression ptsd survivors guilt hallucinations etc etc LIKE DAMN.. I THIUGHT HE WAS JUST A FUNNY LITTLE GUY WHYD I GET SUCKER PUNCHED
what was i even talking about. OH right romance. please please dont let the lack of romance dissuade you, imo it is soooo refreshing to read something that isnt focused on romance like i love yaoi like the next bl reading bitch but damn.. ive always been into found family and while the bl novels i have read did always have a little hint of it, i always wanted more and rotmhs fills that void
(that being said i cant stop yall from shipping if yall want LOL im guilty of shipping charas too despite everythiing i just said… if yall want yalls yaoiyuri fix may i direct yalls attention to the ‘doomed by the narrative, tragic best-friends-to-almost-lovers tangchung’ & ‘love at first sight sweethearts iseolsoso’ ….. :SMILES: I LOVE TANGCHUNG..!!!!!!)
NEXT, the action and fight scenes in rotmhs, even in written text form, are sublime to say the least.. my fail cis dudebro trait is that i love crazy insane adrenaline rushing heart pumping shounen-esque battles so much that i could typically care less for the rest of that specific piece of media as long as the fights are good.. FORTUNATELY FOR ME rotmhs is crazy good at balancing its comedy, action, and otherwise more ‘mundane’ scenes together so harmoniously that its such fun read even when theres no swords crossing or heads being beaten in
also important to note, despite being a knovel w korean naming of characters/places, rotmhs actually takes place in ancient china in a wuxia setting so jumping head first into it wont be all that confusing for first time readers/cmedia fans and u can use ur knowledge of cnovels to fill in the gaps.
theres not really much more i have to say on the topic of fighting, im just personally a huge fan of the crazy spectacles rotmhs brings to the table.
saved this for last but THE COMEDY…!!!!!!!! after being soo dramatic w all my previous points and comments ur probably thnkng rotmhs is heavy and somber w no breathing room.. WELL YOURE WRONG. ROTMHS IS FUNNY AS HELL quips and jokes and simple funny actions and scenes litter nearly every page. i mentioned this novel balances its action and comedy well and im NOT LYING youd think maybe the heavy action and light comedy would awkwardly clash but u cldnt be more further from the truth.. rotmhs wears action and comedy like a pair of twin gloves
rotmhs handles its action and comedy in equal doses and it all fits together like matching puzzle pieces, like i really cant stress enough how fun it is to read. not every fight scene is somber, most of the time its chung myung oneshotting someone by hitting them across the head so hard they pass out..
unfortunately im not really the best at listing instances so its be better for u to go read it for urself but this scene from one of the later chapters is soo funny every time i read it i start giggling
(LIGHT/MINOR SPOILERS FOR THE NOVEL it probably doesnt even matter u wont even remember this when u start reading)
right so i think thats most of it.. too lazy to read through everything i just wrote so if nothing makes sense… well. …well!
rotmhs deserves to have the same amount of fame as ORV and MDZS and TGCF have and it is my civil duty as one of the oldest mxtx novel outlets on tumblr to put yall on it..
my thumbs hurt from typing so im done now but if u have anymore questions PLEASE ASK IM SO DESPERATE TO TALK ABOUT ROTMHS ok byyyeeeeeeee

SWV: A Small Worms Viewpoint
So I’ve been re-reading ORV,
And as I do with any peice of media I start thinking how I could cross it with Worm.
So here we are.
Light worm and ORV spoilers
There’s a few different routes.
The simplest would be a basic alt-power similar to most The Gamer fics except with Dokjas reading based powers.
This would include stuff like her being able to bookmark other Parahuman powers and fourth wall.
And while nothing wrong with that, kinda boring imo.
The second would be taking the larger premise of ORV, that being someone who has read a book suddenly having it come to life around them.
This could be taken two ways, both off which have merit, but one much more unique.
One way is a character in worm like Madison or some small side character that is barely mentioned has read worm and thus would interact with it once they realize it was real.
This could be fun, but is quite similar to a lot of SI stories or ones where Taylor time loops.
The second way would be for worm to come to our world. A high schooler who loves the series arrives to school one morning to discover its name is now Winslow and there’s a girl being taken out of a locker. This student would have ri be an OC, but I think it could be quite fascinating to see how Worms world would layer on top of ours.
And while it would follow some conventions of a SI fic, the added component of the worlds merging would have enough of a knock on effect to sufficiently change the plot and add new elements.
The third and most interesting way I can think of, would be for the star stream to arrive in worm.
No readers, no future knowledge beyond what a prophet could provide. Just good ole scenarios and chaos added to Brockton.
Constellations would be other shards with Dokkaebis being entities of a sort. Scion and Eden would be retroactively gotten rid of (Cauldron would go ballistic of course) and parahumans who have triggered would be pre contracted to their shards/constellations.
As for when I’d set it. Either at the beginning of Worm with Taylor either just triggered with QA as her Sponser, or during Warlord Era so that she has some competency under her belt.
Oo! I know I said no future knowledge, but a post GM Taylor time looped back to the locker expecting to be able to do it all again only to be interrupted by the star stream out of left feild could be fun.
Heck, why not both.
Swap perspectives between a fresh faced un powered or just recently powered Taylor (maybe right after she’s met the undersiders?) who barely has a grip on things and a GM between who thought she had a grip on things and is now being shown there is a far bigger ceiling then the god she’s already tossed down.
Could be a fun dynamic playing on the ORV one of Dokja and Joonghyuk but in a diffrent way.
Thats all for now
Probably will write more later

another orv longpost is here 🕺
(again huge spoilers for the novel don’t click if you haven’t read)
since my last one of these, I have completed reading the demon realm revolutionary arc >:D
now lets get some miscellaneous thoughts out of the way before I go into analysis
THAT SCENE FROM AGES AGO WHICH I BARELY REMEMBERED FINALLY REVEALED ITS PURPOSE!!! MY JAW DROPPED. thank goodness fatherhood has made han myungoh way more likeable 🎉 he’s so soft & doting about his daughter <3 I want their little family to reunite go away asmodeus…
b i y o o.
I have noticed that the author loves to use the phrase “cold water poured over [the mood]” and that’s sooo accurate cause I felt exactly this way when dokja opened the 1st revision of TWSA and found it became an account of events influenced by his involvement in the story & is set after his future death. chills.
when dokja was legit about to die after destroying the demon duke guy in the big factory monster my heart was racing too. then joonghyuk came with the save last second :’D
the part where he described his senses after re-entering the scenario, the story embracing him, changing his breathing to feel alive again, and how that frightened him. ohh my god…..
also neat to see how the fourth wall helps practically too :D like when dokja was all mentally scattered and couldn’t think straight it helped by putting the pieces he already knew together for him
-
now onto some analysis dissecting dokja’s behavior :))
multiple times I’ve read how he hears a shocking thing and instantly goes like “I thought it was an auditory hallucination.” his first reaction to unbelievable stuff is believing that it’s not real. his power literally disassociates him it makes complete sense to react this way, good detail
it’s cool how he will be like ‘I think this’ then the fourth wall goes [Kim Dokja is thinking this]. sometimes it’s a helpful expansion of those original thoughts, or vice versa with dokja continuing off what the fourth wall says first
but it can be that the two lines of thought presented aren’t alike!! so I have had to read deeper into what he’s really thinking/feeling :D
through that, it is becoming way clearer to me in this story how some things dokja says & does are contradictory with what he himself narrates. it’s something that needs my closer attention while reading bc otherwise I could get fooled, he’s an unreliable narrator
sometimes he feigns disinterest when all signs in the dialogue point to him being emotional, or he puts on a confident narration but then the fourth wall or his actions exposes insecurity. sometimes he straight up has no idea why he’s acting certain ways -which I try piecing together- and occasionally he fights with himself too
these lines show that stuff pretty well
It was a reckless battle. It was uncharacteristic of me and I didn’t know why I acted like that.
No, don’t think like this. Kim Dokja, please wake up. You’ve survived so far thanks to this novel.
I wanted to ask why he came here. I wanted to ask what he would do in the future. However, completely different words emerged from my mouth.
I smiled slightly while covering my eyes with both hands. I didn’t appear so on the surface, but I wanted to say that I was smiling.
he was absolutely crying in the last one I know it
not my first rodeo with unreliable characters I love them <3
lastly, dokja was more desperate in this arc than I’ve ever seen him before. I saw how he started to get more troubled as it went on, but ofc the constant painful disintegration didn’t help 💀 the 1st revision.txt is useful with figuring out what to do but it’s sorta vague, he’s still anxious
that’s why I LOVED the writing on the wall conversation with jang hayoung.
it delved into those stresses and had him trying to think of a way to move forward. probably one of my most favorite discussions in the story thus far
I had to write something on this wall. This is despite the fact that it might change what has already been written…
I didn’t want to be a person who only read.
I had been acting as a reader the whole time. In order to see the ending I wanted, I had to create a new story. In fact I had already warped reality.. I just didn’t know yet who would read it.
👏🔥👏💯🔥👏💯🔥👏
a person who doesn’t just read, but writes too… so curious to see what he does now especially since he doesn’t have multiple lives to mess with
wow long ramble but I love love deep diving into stuff I can’t wait to see more cool things as I go on <3
if you wanna see my other rambles about orv check my tag #kade reads
#orv#orv spoilers#I’ll write more of these once in a while :3#maybe not after every arc#but when I Really have something to say#kade reads orv#kade reads

Asking you all of them from 1 to 20 ^^
OMG GLADLY
1. whos your favourite character
Kim Dokja 🫶 (fragment behavior)
2. what was your favourite arc?
Revolutionary arc my beloved
3. do you have a favourite quote?
Out of context would probably be "Even if there is an insurmountable wall between me and them, even if it isn't heard by the person beyond that wall, I can write something on the wall and at the very lease, the wall will change" from Jang Hayoung
In context would be when Jung Heewon said "I don't know anything about the future. However, I do know this. You said that you want to save this world? It's the same for me, too... That man is the world I wish to save" (that gave me goosebumps when I read that lol)
4. do you have any characters you wished interacted more?
Jung Heewon and Han Sooyoung! Han Sooyoung's relationship was basically the opposite of Yoo Sangah's with Jung Heewon. They developed quite a bit of beef with each other during the 3 year time skip while Kim Dokja was away, and it was really interesting seeing it get resolved due the Proof of the Stars scenario
5. if you could ask the authors any question, what would you ask them?
Probably if there's any experiences they've had that's contributed to orv's development
6. whats a headcanon you have that you absolutely believe is canon?
Han Sooyoung would've either a) gotten multiple degrees or b) attended lectures in various unrelated fields understand a topic before writing if the epilogues hadn't happened
7. conversely, whats a headcanon that youre just pulling out of your ass but you love anyway?
Not a very wild heacannon but Kim Dokja would've gotten into watching esports when he was a teenager but maybe after like two weeks of looking around at the major streamers he would've dropped it entirely because none of them looked like how he imagined Yoo Joonghyuk to look like
But he keeps up with esports news in a very casual way (probably the random news article here and there 💀)
8. whats your least favourite arc?
Peaceland arc 💀 I like all the arcs in orv but I felt like it dragged a lot. To be fair, I think a bunch of orv arcs drag on a bit, but Peaceland was so early on that it made me stop reading for a long time during my first read of orv
9. any popular thing in the fandom you love?
Not really a popular thing but more like a popular idea - that you can only take out as much meaning in a story as you are willing to. You can glean as little as you want from a piece of media or give it more meaning than what the author may have originally intended
10. any popular thing in the fandom you cant stand?
Not really
11. any character you wish we saw more of?
Lee Seolhwa or Jang Hayoung! They have so much relevance in twsa but not too much in orv, so I’m curious about them!
12. are you more of a reader, writer or protagonist?
I’m more of a reader. This kind of ties back to my kinship to Kim Dokja, because he lived to see the next chapter update of his favorite novel, which is something I did, too
13. if you could meet any character, which would you pick and what would you say?
Yoo Sangah. I’d just like to have a normal conversation with her tbh.
14. favourite theme in orv?
The broad theme has gotta be love. It’s been said before but you step into orv thinking its an isekai powercreep fantasy and it is quite literally Han Sooyoung with a metal chair LMAO
15. any characters you didnt love at first but grew to adore?
Jung Heewon. It's less of 'didn't like' and more 'neutral' at first. It was only during my reread that I came to appreciate her a lot more :)
16. what part in orv made you realise it was gonna be a favourite?
Honestly, everything going on in the Demon World.
17. any controversial takes?
Jung Heewon and Lee Hyunsung would've been fleshed out better if they had a relationship that foiled Kim Dokja's and Yoo Joonghyuk's (Life and Death companions, but where kdj and yjh lean more towards the 'death' part and jhw and lhs lean more towards the 'life' part) instead of romance
18. who would you choose as your sponser?
Probably Prisoner of the Golden Headband. I'd like to see more about his powers
19. whats your favourite duo?
Han Sooyoung + Kim Dokja
20. be honest - are you making it to the epilogue?
Absolutely not lol
#orv#asks#ask game#this was fun but took a long time to answer lol#when writing this i realized i have very little headcannons lol

AO3 Masterlist
This has been long in coming, but I am finally making a proper masterlist! I'm a fanfic writer with a ridiculously long list of fandoms, genres and characters; most of my works are one-shots, though I want to try writing something a bit longer in the future!
📚 This is my main profile, for general chaos and various wordcounts and genres:
Udaberri
😈 If you prefer darker themes and stories, you can also check out my AO3 pseud:
Midnight Rambles
🍃 For drabbles and lists of prompted fics:
Kiss Prompts (multifandom)
Trektober (Star Trek)
Femslash February (Baldur's Gate 3)
Bad Things Happen Bingo (SVSSS)
Augusnippets (ORV, SVSSS, BG3)
✨️ And if you want a recommendation for my personal favourites, I have added a more detailed list below!
All That Matters
G | Asterix the Gaul | Asterix & Obelix | Friendship, Asexuality, Queerplatonic relationships
Asterix has always felt different, but he has Obelix, and that is usually enough. Everybody else has questions, however, and he grows tired of answering.
"He wants to shout, even if he still doesn't know what he wants to say, even if he knows that if he lets his frustration take hold of his tongue, he will regret the harm he will cause."
Bésame Mucho
G | Singin' in the Rain | Cosmo Brown/Don Lockwood/Kathy Shelden | Romance, First Kiss, Getting Together | 1.6k
Life is a stage, but they are the stars of their own story. Don, Cosmo and Kathy will embrace their love. No one gets to tell them that they are wrong.
Life is a Rollercoaster; or Tao Xu's Fight against the Big Butterfly of Doom
G | Heartstopper | Nick Nelson/Charlie Spring | Fluff, Romance, Friendship, Time Travel | 11.1k
Tao got the chance to go back in time and undo his worst mistake. Tao prevented Charlie from being outed or bullied. Tao changed things enough that, the second time around, Charlie didn't get assigned the seat next to Nick Nelson in form.
…Fuck.
Or: the Butterfly Effect sucks, and if Tao has to take desperate measures to ensure his friend's happiness, he will. He draws the line at Iron Man 2 though, someone has to keep some standards around here.
Shifting Tides
T | Temeraire | William Laurence & Lady Allendale | Family Feels, Empath characther, Trans William Laurence | 1.5k
The soirée was in full swing when Lady Allendale saw the ghost of her regrets, dancing across the clearing.
Fifteen years ago, Lady Helen Allendale had chosen to put her child's happiness above everything else, even if it would mean losing him. Tonight she finds him again, not unchanged.
When You Speak (I hear silence)
T | Deep Space Nine | Nog & Jake Sisko | Friendship, Canon Divergence, First Meetings | 1.8k
Terok Nor is no more, and strange new aliens are coming to the newly named Deep Space Nine. Nog doesn't expect life to change; but then he finds a friend, who gives him the greatest gift he will ever receive.
Wingless Bird, Won't You Fly?
E | Baldur's Gate 3 | Astarion/Cazador | Angst and Whump, DD: DNE | 2.4k
In preparation for the Ascension ritual, seven vampire spawn have to be marked with the words of an infernal contract.
Tonight, it's Astarion's turn.
"I know I ask much from you," he murmurs. His hand finds its way to his hair again, ruffling and tugging at the silver strands. When he fails to respond, Cazador cups his cheek until he at last meets his eyes. "My dear, it's only because I know you can take it."

Biweekly Media Roundup
- The Adam Project (Movie) - This sure was a movie huh. It wasn’t so bad that I feel like writing a dissertation on it but boy it wasn’t any good either. Everyone in the movie just spoke in that Ryan Reynolds quip humor which I have liked in the past but here it was way too much and not particularly clever or funny, and really got in the way of any sort of emotional depth or realism the story was trying to convey-Everything just felt forced and unnatural. The story also didn’t make much sense, I like time travel stories as a whole, but the characters were time traveling to prevent time travel from being invented which?? Maybe you’ll stop it from being invented at that specific time but if it's a possible phenomenon then someone will invent it at some point dude, I don’t think this is solving anything. They also pull the “I can’t tell someone that they're going to die cause that might change the future” despite the fact that everything they are doing is actively and intentionally changing the future. I think the only thing I was impressed by was the protagonists house which was this incredibly nice open-air Cabin in the wood, wish I lived there. Anyway, don’t watch this, you can find better things to do.
- Buddy Daddies (Anime) - The only non-sequel anime I decided to watch this season, I am having fun with Spy X Family Gay Dads addition. I can’t say it’s doing anything unexpected but if you like this kind of thing it’s competent enough, and I do really like the perpetually tired half-shaved updo character design of the darker haired father. The ending theme is quite cute and the comedy is solid so far, my main hopes going forward are that the child character is allowed to have some depth outside of “cute toddler” and that we get more backstory/interactions between the male leads and what their deal is. Good wholesome show for now.
- The Vampire Dies In No Time (Anime) - Hey it’s back. I’m actually surprised it got a sequel season as I didn’t think the first one did that well but hey, I’m happy it’s here. The comedy can be hit or miss and even actively cringey sometimes so it’s hard to recommend, but I really enjoy these characters and their unconventional family. There’s just no other series I can go to where a guy comes over to his arch-nemeses house to show his roommate a PowerPoint Presentation he made of why that guy’s the worst. It’s stupid in the best way possible. Can’t wait to see more of Best Boy John as well.
- JJBA: Stone Ocean (Anime) - People turned into Snails last time, that was fun.
- The Greatest Estate Developer (Webcomic) - I’m so tempted to just read the webnovel for this, as I do plan to eventually, but I told myself I would finish ORV first so it might be awhile. It’s just the perfect comfort food though, I love the asshole best friend's dynamic of the leads and the continuous betterment of society Lloyd brings to the World. We’ll see if this will motivate me to finally finish ORV or if I’ll just cave first.
- Demon Slayer (Anime) - Don’t have much to say, rewatching this with my sister, it’s cute with good animation and nice characters, I enjoy it a reasonable amount.
- The S Classes That I Raised (Webcomic) - Successfully got my sister into this now which I consider a win.
- Sense8 (TV) - Yup.
- Persona 5 Royal (Video Game) - Okay so here’s what I’ve actually been doing all week, this game has consumed my life. I’ll save most of my thoughts until I’m closer to the conclusion but for now I really adore the visuals and stylistic flair of the game as well as the character interactions-I appreciate that the Phantom Thieves actually hang out and feel like friends, it’s surprisingly common for media to just have the cast say they’re close without ever actually showing them spending time together so I’m grateful. The music's also solid, though 50 hours in it’s starting to haunt my daily hours as well. I’m going to make this my whole personality in February, watch me.
I also watched the first episode of The Last of Us, though I’ll hold off on judgement for now. Demon School has also gotten better so I’m keeping up with that too.
Listening to: Persona 5 OST, Troublemaker by Olly Murs, As It Was by Harry Styles, Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift, Tangled Up by Caro Emerald, Hell’s Comin’ with Me by Poor Mans Poison, Kaibutsu - AmaLee cover, The Fine Print by The Stupendium, Do It All The Time, Waste by Oh Wonder, Stay by Reinaeiry, Black Magic by Little Mix, Kiss Me Son Of God by They Might Be Giants

here to tell you i love your fic and it's been a great ride, start to finish :'D i've loved your depiction of trans yjh, his dynamic with kdj and the love they share, yjh's relationship with yma, your character depictions,,, all of it :'D thank you for sharing such a wonderful story
(letting you know this here instead of via comment because when it comes to smut my preferences are extremely fixed, and i figured which top/bottom dynamic you would be writing as soon as i saw the tag that you wrote smut after all igifufufug
your writing has been extremely good regardless, so i read it until right before that part anyway; because personal preferences =/= good writing, and venturing out of that comfort zone is still worthwhile in some cases. like here! this has been well worth the read.)
have these emojis as a token of my appreciation ✨🍰🎁✨ i see from your author's notes that you're not necessarily writing for orv again just yet, but know that if/when you do, you have a spectacular way of writing the characters already - and it's delightful :>
hi anon!!! first of all: thank you for giving assigned plasma a go even if it wasn't your cup of tea! it made me so so flattered to hear that you liked my character dynamics enough to stick around! and also thank you for being so sensible!! have a token of *my* appreciation 🥮✨️🧋!!!
id like to promise more orv content at some point in the future, but my muse is a flighty thing so i can't be sure:( still, id love to come back someday, esp after hearing such nice words from you!!! you've made my day anon!!! thank you, honestly 🥺💖

YAYYY ORV !!!! this is my epic awesome totally normal sales pitch abt orv ehe
alright. orv is a korean webnovel about a 28 year old guy named kim dokja working a dead end job whose only hobby is reading webnovels on the way home from work.
he has been following this webnovel called 'three ways to survive the apocalypse', or twsa for short, for the last like. 10 years. on the day it gets its final update, the events from the novel suddenly become a reality.
dokja is the only one who has read the webnovel till the end and so knows what path the future will take.
so he uses his newfound position in the narrative to work toward a more optimistic ending.
the pacing is incredible the character writing is amazing the conflict between the characters is written so well and even the shitty webnovel mechanics serve to further the novels themes.
its so so so incredible. genuinely i cannot recommend it enough its a masterpiece in writing……..!!!!
also. kim dokja my everything i want to kick you down the stairs and give you a weighted blanket and a cup of coffee . little bastard i love him so much
anyway. it is a wonderful book!!! and something i would enjoy a lot i think. a lot of thinking a lot of platonic friendships a lot of love !!!! in every form :’)
HIII RURU I JUST REALIZED I FORGOR TO RESPOND TO THIS SORRY!!!!! anyways thats ouhhghghgh... um. puts that on my list & asks you where i could read this...
#AFTER APS. MAYBE. Going through the climax of the arc that made me fall in love with ORV is something special, so of course, I had to write a small meta. Keeping everything vague so that there are no novel spoilers <3
When Dokja revives, everyone (who can stand) immediately flocks to him. They surround him with worried looks and outstretched arms. Even Joonghyuk is holding on still. They're all focused on him, he's obviously the center with how the lighting is, but it means more. He cares about something that they don't.
And that's future Shin Yoosung. None of them have a reason to care about the woman that's been trying to kill them. And Yoo Joonghyuk has no knowledge of the 41st turn yet, so he doesn't either. But Dokja does. He knows her suffering, her story.
He knows that the smartest and easiest thing to do right now would be to kill her, but...
He loves her. And no, not in a way that he loves Joonghyuk (im sorry I had to), but the way that he loves all of the story. He loves that story that saved him and kept him afloat all these years along with every character in it. Especially such a tragic one like Shin Yoosung. He even felt her grief and anger first hand a few minutes ago when he shared her body. As the story continues, we see this again and again - Dokja's bleeding heart.
He can't abandon her, he won't. He refuses. And SYS is rightfully confused. Who is this man that she just learned of? Who she just killed and is now refusing to seek revenge. Who makes her heart ache even though she doesn't know why
This is why. She was able to feel all the love poured into and out of current SYS thanks to the memories that they briefly shared. The effect is amplified due to their sponsor & incarnation relationship. It aches because she was unable to feel that love from the one she wanted to the most in the 41st regression
And she's angry still. It's just another reminder that it was something she never had, and now the people she loved are the same but different. They aren't hers
Then she realizes that there is indeed someone who can relate. And you can see on his face that he doesn't blame her. He gets it, more than anyone. Even though she just killed Kim Dokja, his precious companion, right in front of him, he isn't angry. Dokja is fine, and SYS was also one of his precious companions, so he is happy to lend leniency
#part 2 shortly! the image limit caught up to me#this is only partly meta - more observation#idc tho i like disecting it since its such a precious arc for me#not every yjh#orv#omniscient readers viewpoint#yoo joonghyuk#shin yoosung#kim dokja#orv meta

Random thoughts on the orv epilogue part 4/??? AKA: why I will forever believe orv ends happily.
You see a lot of different interpretations of what happens after that hospital door opens, and rightfully so since that’s literally what the authors intend for us to do as readers. After scrolling through all available pages of fanfic for kdj/yjh I noticed that you tend to see imaginings that lean towards that happy ending, even with struggles along the way. Every now and again you’ll see a sort of “bad ending” fic that just dives head first into that depressing what if of kdj never coming back, or coming back but never to be the same. While these are fine and dandy, power to those who write them, personally a happy ending where kdj does come back (if not whole nearly enough to say he truly is whole) and lives his life happily with everyone in the end just fits better with the emotional strokes of orv’s writing.
Orv is about a lot of things, its incredibly fast paced giving us a convoluted plot and numerous characters to meet and watch grow or impact the narrative, its a meta thematic novel on epic proportions. But to me, really and truly, orv is a story about love and is in it of itself a love letter to every story. From the get go orv is a celebrator of stories and their importance to people, the hope and love and power they give people. It’s a narrative paying homage to any and all narratives before it, for their flaws and their triumphs. Beyond stories though, orv is about the love between people, no matter what label is applied, involving each and every one of the cast.
It’s about how kdj, through all his bluster and unreliable narration, can barely remember what it is to give or receive love, or what it means to be genuine, that he’s left fumbling constantly, met with problems his emotional intelligence cannot parce out. About how jihye and the kids become a trio of their own, all them far too young in a world that has made them adults, and how jihye fights to preserve the small spark of innocence those kids have. About how when hyunsung has to save heewon from her own demon he says that he will bear her wrath on behalf of the world, even if it means literally melting as he pushes through her flames to cover her with his steel shields. It’s Jung Heewon falling into despair as kdj leaves her behind again and again because loving a person who values themselves so little is a wound that keeps on growing, pain made all the worse by the fact that kdj means none of it, and would rather nothing happen to heewon, and she knows this, but cannot accept it because that is what her love means. It’s Sangah sacrificing herself over and over again to get their group more information on the future, to protect them in kdj’s place and make sure they all survive. It’s the entire group coming together to teach the kids important skills. It’s kdj waiting at yjh’s bedside after the reveal of ways of survival, for the first time willing to lay everything out on the table and just *talk* to yjh. And when yjh leaves, kdj accepts yjh’s anger and is more than willing to take it all without fighting back until hsy steps in between them. It’s jang hayoung tells dokja that even if you can’t reach at other person, to try anyways, because even the act of reaching out has value, even if it isn’t seen, even if it isn’t heard until it’s too late, it matters. It’s how lee sookyung loved kdj with everything she had, and how that love hurt him more than anything else in the world. About how even when kdj doesn’t consider lee sookyung to be his mother, he still loves her and wants to understand her. It’s how the adoration han myungoh has for his daughter makes him a fundamentally different person. How hades protects persephone until his last breath while persephone plays the ode to their love.
About how kdj saw a world where everything was nearly perfect, everyone was happy even the people he couldn’t save, and couldn’t accept that world because it was one where yjh was unhappy. It’s about hsy taking one look, one fucking look at kdj in that hospital stretcher and realizing that no, he never was lying when he said that ways of survival saved him, and that in turn she had to do whatever it took to make sure he kept living, the world be damned. About how kdj dies at the hands of the person he loves most after fighting yjh over which one of them will be the one to save the other. It’s the way that the 999 round companions travel the worldlines all for the sake of meeting the man who loved them enough to sacrifice everything for them. About how yjh first reacts with betrayal and hurt after finding out that kdj had read about his life, asking kdj why, when yjh is right here in front of him, is kdj still reading. About how yjh then goes on to say that he is the only one who can pass judgement on kdj for enjoying ways of survival, and he has long since forgiven kdj because that is how kdj lived, and yjh accepts that part of him. It’s about how secretive plotter, upon meeting the oldest dream, reacts not with violence but with understanding, and he and the 999 rounds are finally able to be at peace because of it. It’s the way that countless people, not just kdj’s company, went back for another life because they all had things they loved and wanted to save.
It’s about the way that even as kdj is dooming himself to a life of endless dreaming, he wants the people he loves to be happy.
There’s so much love in this novel, such care and loving detail put into describing its many facets and complexities. My rambling here only scratched the moments that I remember most clearly, and even then it wasn’t all of my favorites. In a story so full of love that centers around a protagonist who cannot, for the life of him, even imagine himself living in such a world peacefully, of course I want him to have his happy ending. To love without sacrifice, to love mundanely, simply, and to have all the time in the world to learn what it means. And for his companions, who traveled time and space to bring him home and spent years grieving him, to finally get that chance as well.

Quick preface before I get into this- This is an add-on to a previous thread about ORV, linked HERE. You won’t need to read it to understand this post, but you can if you want! if you’re looking for a better look at ORV as an allegory for trauma, I’d recommend @bidokja’s blog. He’s the one that clued me into these themes in the first place, and he’s really good at explaining them! I’m going to do my best here, but I won’t be able to cover everything.
So! Stories in ORV have a dual role– they’re both a way to cope with trauma and a traumatizing cycle. I’ll be talking about the former here- I might make another post later about the latter, but It won’t fit into this one.
ORV has a LOT to say about trauma– specifically, about the ways that people cope with it. And not all of these are directly related to stories! We have the Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World, for example- Regressors, Returnees, and Reincarnators. These, like stories, are both a way to cope with trauma and the trauma itself. Yjh’s regressions let him change the traumatic events of previous rounds (kinda sorta- he can’t actually rewrite things, but the concept of saving everyone does let him cope), but they also trap him in a nightmarish cycle of watching everyone he loves die over and over again (hey! PTSD much?). The returnees get to escape their trauma on Earth, but they’re unable to interact with their loved ones (hey look! dissociation!). Nirvana’s reincarnation lets him live unfettered by the past, but they trap him in an eternal ‘present’ (I didn’t write this one too well…). There’s also the ‘past, present, future’ thing, but I’ll spare you the rant on that for now.
Stories are introduced to the fray with the ‘author, reader, protagonist’ bit. The character’s connections to the story serve both as a way to cope with trauma, and as a shackle of sorts that chains them to the narrative. They also line up nicely with our other coping mechanisms! Our protagonist, who has the power of regression, tends to live in the past (his previous rounds). His protagonist status gives him ‘plot armor’, in a way- but it also traps him as the focal point of a horrible tragedy. The reader, who is a returnee, tends to live in the future (what with all his constant planning). His knowledge as the reader gives him a leg up in planning and understanding the characters, but it also traps him behind the fourth wall as an observer (remember Uriel’s ‘most powerless god’ line? Yeah, that.) The author, who isn’t technically a reincarnator but I think Avatar counts, lives in the moment. Her privilege as the author gives her the ability to write her own story, but it leaves her at the mercy of her audience (the editors, the constellations). And it’s only together that they can break the cycles of tragedy they’re trapped in. I have so many thoughts about this, but I’m going to skip straight to what I was talking about in my OG post. (quick thing to remember, though- none of our characters use just one of these coping mechanisms. Hsy is also a reader, Kdj is also a protagonist, Yjh is also an author.)
Now, in my Og post, I was talking about the way the past is portrayed in ORV. The original novel, for example, has already happened by the beginning of ORV- and because the past (specifically, reliving it) has links to the themes of overcoming trauma, we can look at it to determine what ORV is trying to say about how you overcome a traumatic past.
It would have been easy for Sing-Shong to have KimCom undo the tragedies in WoS, but they don’t. WoS still happens in its entirety- and this is for a reason! In ORV, the past isn’t something you can change. Because Kdj has read WoS, because Hsy has written it, because Yjh has lived it- WoS will never go away. Because trauma doesn’t go away. You can’t just resurrect dead family members, or undo bullying, or anything of the sort. It will always have happened. But what you can do is move forward. WoS still happened, but everyone was there to pick up the pieces. Everyone from WoS is saved- the outer gods, secretive plotter, the characters from the 999th round.
Whew! That was a long post… I still have SO MUCH MORE to say, though. I barely even scratched the surface of Orv! I’ve barely talked about the ‘reader, author, protagonist’ thing, or the future/the present– hell, I barely even MENTIONED stories as trauma! But I think I did pretty ok talking about the themes needed for my OG post, so I think I’ll leave the rest up for later conversations. I’m super glad @mae-i-scribble added her comments! I really didn’t elaborate enough originally..

Why I Love Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
*kicks the door open*
So I said yesterday that I’d take a while to recover and I’d be back with a ramble on why I loved ORV in a few days? Well, that was a lie because I’m realizing that I will actually never be over ORV, so I’m bothering everyone who sees this and writing an incoherent ramble now. Beware heavy spoilers.
Where do I begin? Where do I begin to express why I LOVED this 1 million+ word novel with 551 chapters that features the wildest nonsense like octopus monsters and mythological and historical figures/creatures ascended to the status of a god (and proceeds to take our hearts and nearly rend it to shreds before walloping us from behind with more feels)?
Honestly? I think the reason why I personally loved ORV is because it’s just..it’s just a novel that understands this concept and idea of a story as related to the author, reader, and character. It GETS why people write, it gets why people read, it gets fanfic writers and readers, it gets its characters, and it truly just understands and respects the reader as an entity. Where characters and writers often last through ages with its story, the individual readers of that book rarely do - and this novel just...tells the reader how much they matter?
More than that, the LOOP...the time loop and cycle. It’s seriously some of the best time travel shenanigans I have EVER had the pleasure to read/watch/sit through. Because it tells us a story doesn’t really have a set beginning, does it? The writer wrote the story the reader wanted to read, the story that saved his life. The reader read the story because the author wrote it. The character lived the story because of the reader, who affected the character first and impacted the character so much that the latter wanted to MEET the former. And just so on...
And the EFFECT the story has on ALL the characters beyond the writer-reader-character duo? The way ORV makes us come to terms with the fact that we’re all a character, writer, reader, story of our own lives? The way it uses the image of a story to talk about too-big-to-know concepts and why they have such an impact - good and evil, why we must fail to see others succeed, relationships, economics (or so I think?), history, the individual, trauma, the inevitability of being forgotten - and then also turns that back around to show that the story can also be a trap.
Then we have that ending.
Actually, I kind of wonder if the Star Stream is, in essence, a presentation of what happens when you place too much importance in the story rather than the “thing“ or “being” it’s talking about, you know? How Dokja is presented as a commonplace tragedy, how he becomes a great story worthy of lasting, but how his friends just wanted him back...him, the regular, everyday reader who would have probably read the story and been forgotten faster than it. Not his stories but the being behind the stories.
It’s just a careful balance of saying everyone’s story matters, even if it’s forgotten, because it existed, that stories have a way of reaching people hiding behind walls, how they can help one fight against the world...and saying that people are GREATER than their stories nevertheless. (Like, the quote of us all being outer gods to each other messed me up like how did you make octopus monsters Like That, authors???)
That ending where...it’s just....there’s so much IN it. The cycle of sacrifice continuing on, how the Oldest Dream must live on for the story to continue. How Dokja TRIED - really did try - to reconcile the need for him to be sacrificed with the desire to make his friends happy and live with them. And how (again) his friends went through literal hell to get him back again (and how they used his failures to make a brighter future for 1865).
But in the end, what brought him back (if he was brought back, which he was) was a story. A story written by Sooyoung (but really written by everyone) about Dokja to tell him he’s not alone, to reach him (and isn’t it so FITTING that the one to connect the writer and reader was Joonghyuk, the protagonist?), but not to wipe away the past like they tried with the regression. They acknowledged his lonely past and then, through the story, reached out to tell him he wasn’t alone anymore; then, maybe then, they could bring back the Dokja (present) they knew without also erasing the Oldest Dream (past) and the worldines. Because they acknowledged the past and the present and let it exist together.
Finally, the ambiguous open ending was just so...fitting for this novel. Because it in essence both confirms and doesn’t confirm that Dokja came back. I kind of wonder if the ending - where we’re led to just hope (but not be confirmed) that Dokja came back fully back - implies that we became the Oldest Dream that sustains KimCom’s worldline. Just....ARGH, I don’t have enough thoughts on this to explain it well, but yeah...
I could go on and on about the individual arcs, specific quotes, relationships, the bonds formed between everyone (constellations and dokkaebis included). How utterly devastated EVERY sacrifice left me (not just Dokja’s) because it meant something so grand to the tale. AND STARS, WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN WITH HOW MASTERFULLY THE WRITING WAS HANDLED?? (The use of first, third, and even occasional second person? The formatting? The...everything?)
But no...in the end, all I can say is...this is a story the reader wanted to read, the author wanted to write, and the characters wanted to live...right? It’s just a novel about novels that has such love and respect for all readers and writers of different genres and tastes...and it has a love for the characters as entities we as humans can relate to. And I think it just also has a love for people as people as well as it loves the way stories can connect us together.
So yeah. I liked ORV.
#man there was absolutely zero transitional order between these paragraphs...#apologies for the slight spammy way i wrote this XD#and also SO MUCH THANKS to the fandom on here for lurking around my journey you guys are so nice#but yeah...orv messed me up#once again this is me being controlled which doesnt bode well for my sanity#anyway im gonna hunt some orv metas to see all the interepretations and ways it affected people ehehehehe#disclaimer tag here#orv#omniscient reader's viewpoint#fandom spamdom#note's nonsense#maybe now that i've let another chunk of feelings out i can be a functioning member of society again?

hey sorry if youve already mentioned reading this before and i havent seen it yet but have you read trash of the count's family? it has that wholesome found family vibe that i really liked about orv
also what would u think of a crossover between them?
Yeah I read it last summer!
Well, I know its still currently updating but the last thing I read was (SPOILER FOR TRASH OF THE COUNT'S FAMILY)
when they started talking about OG Cale's mom and i haven't had the chance to get back to it. Like I said in the last ask I'm into drama/romance rn and TCF is very firmly like aromantic in my opinion which I really appreciate about it. Like you said, the similarity with ORV is that Cale is like: I'm here to build and maintain a found family, not fuck around. Really scratches my face-slapping/action itch when I have it.
I've never really read fic about it tho, I think that's mainly because most fic I see advertised in the tag is ship fic with Cale getting some and I just so happen to think he's an ace/aro king, comes down to personal preference. I think there's a lot of potential for people to take the TCF characters and make a narrative about how platonic love can be inherently queer and subversive, because in so many cases the one thing that saves the characters from their fates in the original novel is Cale just... knowing about them and caring that they continue to exist, which is sweet.
Then like I said before most of the x-over stuff I like is characterxsetting swaps, not character-character meet-cutes. I think the main difference of ORV characters in the TCF setting from OG TCF is that KDJ as Cale would be just slightly more of a loser, okay? So like they both have these elements of "I know this story so I can seem cool and OP at the start as I slowly start making more and more sacrifices to maintain that image." But I think that Cale's absolutely hilarious POV that's slowly revealed of "actually I'm an apocalypse vet who read one book ever on his day off to try to keep the PTSD at bay" is a REALLY different perspective from Mr. Kim Reader who is obsessed with Ways of Survival and creates the universe by writing self-insert fanfiction. There's also the "I'm just here to slack off because I already lived a life full of trauma and strife" vs the "I've been showing a suicidal lack of care towards myself and don't believe I have a future because I already lived a life full of trauma and strife." Then, critically, I think that both the character of KRS and KDJ are getting something from their new world that they couldn't get in their old one, bonds with other people. ORV, however, in contrast to TCF, asks the question "Am I using these people for my own gains? Is saving them really something they should be grateful to me for? Aren't I the same guy who is alone and deserves to die?" and Cale is just like "I saved you, you're gonna live in my house now, I won't emotionally confront the impact that caring for you has had on my life unless its in a trial of life and death, k thanx bye."
Okay okay, this got away from me... basically what I'm saying is that it's hard to do 1 to 1 roleswaps with these characters, so I think the crossover setting would be a bit complicated.
Luckily, ORV as a narrative is literally constructed to make any crossover narrative ever completely possible. I would like take a point in time in the cannon of ORV, right after the divorce arc where YJH found out he was in a book and then they were put into like a scenario based around a different world (Kaiznex arc or however its spelled idk) and then have those roles be the world of TCF. So like KDJ wakes up as Cale and YJH wakes up as Choi Han and KDJ has to explain the setting to YJH and its like...
KDJ: OH haha this must be one of those books were a regular guy ends up as a character and knows everything about the protagonist so he helps him and...
YJH: ...
KDJ: ...
And then they just keep going, so I know they weren't in the kaizer permanente or whatever but imagine: biyoo as Raon, SYS and LGY as On and Hong, obvi very cute. And then I literally cannot be arsed to recall if there are any couples in TCF so IDK where JHW or LHS would end up that would have the same emotional resonance as the whole two palace people who are only kept sane by each other thing.
and I think HSY should be the white star AND also Choi Han's ancestor who wrote the cryptic books okay next question.
KRS in ORV setting would honestly be just like "oh not this fucking shit again." Literally hanging on by a thread in this universe where he read a book that he thought was a poor fictional history written by someone who wasn't there about "skills" from "stars" instead of having just plain ability users. I think if Choi Han were a regressor, it would be most fun if Cale didn't know and only read the first part where he messed everything up in 3rd and was like I can fix that and Choi Han is like Who?? Is??? this guy??? and then Alberu should be the author because him and Cale are funny like HSY and KDJ are funny. Alberu stealing jobs from women by being a funny bitch smh... Honestly I think that TCF characters in an ORV-like setting is sort of already answered by the Cale goes back in time in KRS's life thing and fixes stuff for them then has to go home bc he's white now.
OK. those are just my thoughts tho its been a while since i read tcf so idk how accurate that is, judge for yourself
#TCF spoilers#Lotcf spoilers#ORV spoilers#Honestly HSY deserves multiple roles in a TCF crossover. she could do it she's multitalented#then there'd be a big issue where she had to merge all her avatars back at the end and be like damn!! wtf!!!#long post#ask#anonymous
