Why shouldn't #radio silence be used?

Radio Silence is the name of a book set in the heartstopper universe by alice oseman.

(which also features a canon aspec character, pictured on the right: aled last!)

and as such: #radio silence is their MAIN FANDOM tag. it is inconsiderate to flood their tag with content from another fandom, especially one as popular as hazbin hotel. but unfortunately, this is something that is already happening because of radiosilence as a ship tag.

and if you're not convinced this is something that bothers radio silence fans, here's some input from the fans themselves:

it's better than the mistagging of #radio silence with the space. but ONLY on tumblr, because on tumblr, we're allowed the privilege of adding spaces to tags.

I still would like to discourage it though, because for as long as this tag is popularly in use, there will constantly be people mistagging it with a space. I've done what I could to nudge people to fix their tagging but I can't constantly keep this up.

plus, on other sites such as tiktok and twitter, #radiosilence IS literally the main tag for the book because you literally can't add spaces for tags on those sites. so the radio silence book fandom is likely even more drowned out on those sites than here on tumblr because of the popularisation of #radiosilence as a tag for one-sided radiostatic.

I will not be forcing anyone to ditch #radiosilence without the space as a tag though, especially when it's already so popularly used and essentially impossible to get everyone to change it, but I encourage you to go for other options if you are willing to such as:

decided via a poll last month that was ongoing before #radiosilence was initially popularised, held by ChaoticAce2005 and me.

it's the tag that I always use for one-sided radiostatic and is decently used by others as well! and you won't run into any issue with clashing with the radio silence/osemanverse fandom at all this way. but again, I will not force you, all I ask is that AT THE VERY LEAST, don't tag #radio silence with the space and to nudge others to change it if they do.

Oh absolutely. Much it was during his situation-ship with Orin, DU drow saw the feeding arrangement that he had with Astarion as a meaningful gesture, a ritual of sorts; and, over time as their relationship progressed, a representation of their bond. Whenever I say that DU drow likes pain, what I really mean is that to him, entrusting a partner to harm him boundlessly is about as true a proof of love and adoration as he could provide - because he will absolutely allow you to tear him apart like a tiger, but you won't. You will stop before it gets to a point of no return, however far you choose to take it.

Add to it his ingrained need to be needed, his obsession with being seen as reliable to his loved-ones, plus the very origins of their relationship that equated his value to his usefulness: Astarion consuming his blood then becomes, in his mind, representative of everything that glues them together.

Which is why Astarion quits feeding off of him shortly after the events of the game.

He would take anything, though, anything at all. He fantasizes about eating his nipples off as much as he wishes Astarion would chew off his nuts. But he has no clue about the roots of these desires specially with the Urge being supposedly gone, lest of all how to properly express it or if he even should, knowing that Astarion would likely take far more offense than pleasure from anything approaching that kind of proposition.

Barrel has learned a lot about ghouls from the various packs that frequently breeze through Halloween Town. Belladonna in particular likes to keep him updated on the very latest when she visits.

Not much is known about imps due to their solitary nature. Lock is the only imp to live in Halloween Town, which is a source of insecurity for him. When Lock was brought in it was viewed as a bad omen because If even imps can fall prey to monster hunting now, we're in bad shape.

No, Barrel is the most relaxed of the three. Lock often feels self conscious, though he hides it with abrasive overconfidence.

Yes! He is beloved by the trio and loves them back. You can often find drawings of him in Calliope's tag since she is a huge dog fan.

The more Lock comes to believe it, the more he enjoys hearing it. It's something they're slowly working into private moments.

Shock is annoyed by Lock's stupidity but tries to be as uninvolved as possible in anything regarding their situationship. She also occasionally cuts Lock slack when bad reactions are rooted in Oogie trauma. Since Lock felt terrible about it and Barrel wasn't mad, there was nothing Shock felt she needed to add.

Probably on the roof or in his room. He was emotionally exhausted / embarrassed by the whole ordeal. Barrel keeps close to him the next few days as they talk some stuff out and comfort each other.

More Roddenberry Archive musings...

This is supposedly the launch configuration of the Prime universe U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701's main bridge. It's based on the first piece of concept art for the TOS set, and is one of several weird not-quite-canon things the Roddenberry Archive has decided to consider canonical. 2 command chairs and the whole centre console and chairs spins to face the very minimalist 60's scifi perimeter consoles or viewscreen. Try to imagine Captain April and first officer Chris Pike on this bridge, it's weird.

FERENGI ATM MACHINE ON THE PROMENADE!!!!

The view from OG Captain Pike's bed, featuring his awesome TV, his laser gun and his Starfleet hat. We wouldn't get hats back in Trek for 50 years.

This is inside the Ringship Enterprise XCV-330, circa 2100. The Ringship in canon was seen only in picture form or a desktop model, we never saw inside. The ship was actually designed for a non-Trek Roddenberry scifi show called Starship which never came to be, and there was actually concept art made for the interior which the RA people decided to import to Trek too. Predating the transporter, here is the Metafier.

Discovery Season 2's U.S.S. Enterprise has a cool corridor running around it. Walk around it and... it goes nowhere😂 the Archive tries to balance the reality of everything being a television show with the fantasy of a 100% accurate in-universe museum, it'll give sets ceilings to make them into a believable spaceship but doesn't want to go nuts inventing too much of it's own stuff and that sometimes leads to weird stuff like this dead end

Speaking of ceilings, here's the ceiling and lights of the classic TOS Enterprise's corridors. I think they did a decent job keeping to the TOS aesthetic. The sets TOS was filmed on didn't have ceilings at all.

Strange New Worlds has the coolest transporter room of all. Just look at it😍

The TNG Enterprise battle bridge has it's own ready room! And it's super tiny, ultra cramped and Picard probably never used it because there's no replicator in there and thus no access to tea.

The 1st version of TNG engineering's big Master Systems Display as seen in "Encounter at Farpoint". Ten Forward wouldn't be a thing until season 2, and you can see here an earlier deck layout and the original concept for the saucer rim, a corridor walkway with windows above and below. You'll also note Ten Forward would actually be on deck 11 had they not changed the diagram by then.

Kirk's quarters on the TOS Enterprise has dresser drawers full of uniforms for when his gets torn

Walking around the Roddenberry Archive ships is eerie as hell. You're the only one on board, exploring corridors and poking your head into rooms. These starships are liminal spaces. This for me adds to the atmosphere greatly.

Also a clarification, I was wrong when I said it won't be in VR. There is one VR setup it was designed for - the $3,000 Apple Vision Pro. More details here, although it appears to only show a 2D window rather than be fully immersive 3D, possibly confirming what I was told previously that no current 3D setup is capable of doing a true VR experience:

Before I start this, I don't want any hate towards this person, I won't include their user name, or the platform I got it from and if you do know leave it be but I want to talk about my issues with what they said. I don't know them.

This is really weird and reductive. I'm not saying you can't be a fan of Rhaena potentially getting Nettles' storyline even if I'm not, but the way this is framed is horrible.

Nettles specifically is George using stereotypes of black girls and women and subverting them.

Nettles is 'dark' and 'ugly' because it's a Valyrian beauty standard that is being upheld. It could very well simply be her black features that are being called ugly. Look at who says it in the books and look and who maintains it. They are all white.

Now I'm not one to say we can't have ugly characters, but I am one to impose something in the written narrative, and in this case, that plays out into George subverting racial stereotypes with Nettles. So, while she could be ugly, I also think there is a large possibility that she isn't. She could just look unambiguously black.

I'm not one to defend a white man against racism allegations, but not all the black and brown women are sexually promiscuous. George does have an orientalism issue, but let's not deny that there are characters like Missandei, Sarella, and Nymeria in the narrative. Summer Islander characters are a bit harder, but there is a real-world reason for them to be sexual, its not just George on his snow bunny arc. Their culture views it as a type of worship.

There are 3 fics under the Nettles / Addam Velayron tag, and I've read one that isn't like that. I'm not saying it's not plausible, I'm just saying out of three fics it's not that big of a deal. As for bigger Nettles fics and ships. it's a stretch to say that half are written in her own pov, but typically, her stories have a romantic arc because that's what most fanfics do. Create romantic arcs. And as someone who's read the majority of her fics (I'm being dead ass), it's not mindless sex. It's a conclusion to her romantic narrative arc about 75% of the time. Call it bias but I can't remember the last time I read a Nettles fic where the writers let her be a whore. We've failed on that mark. We have a snow bunny issue, but outside of that, it's not that serious (free my girls from the shackles of white men)

Moving on to the weird respectability politics. "Smart, tough, elegant, and not becoming the street urchin /ghetto stereotype like Nettles."

The only thing that stereotype doesn't have in common with that phrase is elegant. That's literally the only difference. I'm not American, so I'm not going to impose myself on that view, but I will speak to holding anyone to respectability politics. Black girls especially don't have to act one way to be better than others. There isn't one way to be black. That goes hand in hand with being both respectable and assimilating and 'ghetto'. It's reductive to say that anyone should be and applying the 'better' one to Rhaena and baela and the 'worse' one to Nettles is foolish and ignorant. I will have a bigger post on this soon.

As I've said countless times before, Rhaena taking Nettles' story is racist because they aren't interchangeable. Rhaena isn't black, nor is she poor or disposable within the narrative. Daemon isn't going to be miraculously proud of her. Nettles deserves her narrative. No one can cry the way Nettles does after the Battle of the Gullet. Not even Baela and Addam or Alyn. No one can have their life seen as disposable by Rhaenyra like Nettles can and no one can start the burned men but Nettles.

For the show, it doesn't make sense to take Nettles out entirely. There are way too many gaps to full when you can just add her character.

Lastly and all of this to say, you don't have to defend liking something, making stuff up is weird and acting as though it's a better choice to combine a black character and a non black character is crazy. It can just be a choice you like.

On the other hand, I want all three final girls because I can have them, and there is no reason not to.

Your eyes slightly open from the sun shining through your face by the opened window of your room on the ship, looking at the direction where light was shining. You slowly get up, you rub friction on your eyes to see much more properly, looking by the wall across the room whilst losing focus.

As you heard the loud arguments outside by the deck, you had figured that the men, Kidd and Law, were still here since last night. Not being able to recall everything that much, all you remembered was that they stayed by the ship drinking with the others involving you as well. You exited your room and was met by the windy weather, you shiver slightly and made your way into the sunny's kitchen.

You take whatever was left in the table and munched on it, proceeding to start the day earlier. Walking into the deck, the argument of the three men became louder to your ears, Luffy, Law, and Kidd. You heard that they were fighting something about what Luffy did.

"The hell's with you ruining everything again?!" Kidd blurted.

"Hah?! I didn't even do anything!" Luffy fought back.

"Coming from the guy who decided that running right through the bandits after stealing from them WAS a great idea." Law chimed in.

You continue to listen to their bickering and fighting across the upper deck, trying your best to not give a single care. But you just happen to want to eavesdrop on them, so that's exactly what you did.

"What? It was i great idea c'mon!" Luffy tilts his head.

"Where the hell is the GREAT idea there?!" Kidd was starting to hold grudges on Luffy based on his tone.

"We might just take (Name)-ya with us for the next next we do the work in the island." You lean on the deck as you heard your name coming from Law's mouth, he was planning to take you with them? You didn't understand why out of everyone he could've picked it was you.

"Right (Name)-ya?" Your eyes widen in confusion as Law looked up to your direction and smiled at you, slightly fixing his hat.

"Might be the greatest idea you got there Trafalgar." You felt even more confused as Eustass agreed on Law's opinion, which obviously never happens at all.

"Me? Why me?" You lean cloeer into the railing as you raise your voice for them to hear.

"Oooh! (Name), she's pretty good at those things!" Luffy smiled at their suggestion, taking on their side to take you with them.

"Eh, you seem like you'll get the fucking job done." Eustass adds. You tilt your head slightly of you could have probably messed up on with the mission.

Thinking about you falling into an endless ravine and not being able to scream for help, or get eaten by alligators, or possibly bitten by a large snake! You shook your head at the thoughts of dangerous, reckless things you could do from destroying their expedition.

"That won't be a good idea at all!" You step back onto the upper deck, crossing your arms as you look at them from the chair you sat on.

"Oh well, you don't have a choice (Name)! I agree with their ide—"

"Who the hell said I'm gonna agree to that?!" You cut Luffy off making him jump from your sudden outburst. But you think about it slightly, getting to spend time with Trafalgar and Eustass, THE Trafalgar and Eustass. You change the perspective of your mind,

"Fine, I'll do it!" You stood up from the chair and make your way to them. Luffy unknowingly smiles at your decision and so does the two. Before you knew it, you three were launched off into the depths of the Island, which was a pretty city. The way buildings and structures were built was perfect, it was definitely one of the prettiest places you've seen out of all the Cities you've been on.

"So what are we doing?" You ask them.

"Eh, just gotta steal some good ol' stuff in here, aye." Kidd answers. You nod at his answer and began looking and admiring the buildings.

"It's pretty much a suprise to get to work with ya, I didn't expect it to say the least." Law looks at you, the same usual straight face he displays. You nod at his remark and bring your hand to rub your chin, thinking of how you guys were fonna steal without getting caught in such a huge city.

As you three wander into the city hoping to find a building that looks like will be stuffed by treasure, you came across two ways around the city, a straight path and a right path.

"We should split into two groups." You suggested.

"Sure, go with me." Kidd grabs your wrists but was immediately stopped on his tracks by Law grabbing your other wrist as well.

"No, (Name)-Ya is coming with me." He pulls you back to him, making you fall into his torso as he moves you out of Eustass' reach.

"Fuck off Trafalgar! She's coming with me!" Kidd pushes Law slightly and grabs a hold of you. You push both of them away,

"ACTUALLY i will decide who'll i go with!"

Kidd scoffs at your claim to be with Law and started walking off into the right path, staying on the place with Law. You two continuesly made your way towards the straight pattern of the cities roads. As you two walk along the road, you were met with much more tall structures and people, staring off into the distance, you seem to notice someone being chased off.

"What's with them?" You asked.

"Persons probably a bandit, let's go. We're definitely in the correct way." He grabs you and started running fastly into the same direction the person was being chased off. You two arrived Infront of the gate of the biggest structure in the city. Law decides to break off the lock and conceal the both of you inside.

Inside was definitely a large sum of golden furnitures, searching and ravaging the cabinets and drawers one by one. You two were so busy with taking all the items that it went past an hour inside.

Finally finishing with the little adventure inside, you two went out from one of the structures windows and landed on someones roof, trying the best to not attract any contact with the city people. Unfortunately you two's luck had ran out and you two were chased by Marines since someone had reported seeing you two running on the roofs.

Not only have they grazed your arm a bit but you two had managed to outrun them, successfully meeting up with Eustass into the Sunny once again.

Kidd smiled widely as you pick going with him instead, mocking Trafalgar and laughing him off. He grabs your wrist and fled with you towards the right side of the city. Inside were homes of different sorts, the road was busy and there were lots of stalls by the road.

Unfortunately, you two had no enough money to buy anything from them, so the walk was pretty boring. Across the seemingly endless road, you two were led into an empty part of the city, being greeted with nothing but the sea. You two were frustrated and decided to enjoy some view first before riding out the main road.

"No treasure here then, that's shit." Kidd scoffs and grunts.

"What about we rob the homes instead?" You suggest.

"Great idea but, eh, no. That's a million times fucking harder, plus our goal is to not attract any attention at all aye." You sigh at his remarks and you gently sat down on the ground. You two first enjoyed the view, not knowing how much time had passed. Eventually Killer had come to get you two and said that he asjed Trafalgar where you two headed into the city.

Killer takes you two out the dity and back into where the ships were docked, sadly you two hadn't found anything at all, on the other hand, Law had brought a large bag full of golden treasures. It's safe to say that Eustass and Trafalgar picked a fight onto each other again.

Eustass calling Law boastful and overproud just because he found them instead of the both of you, whilst Law called him a jealous bastard.

Back at the Sunny again, you three decided to end the day with dinner with the Straw hats, specifically you. You two slumped over your bedrooms couch and talked about how the expedition went for each sides, they weren't so bad after all! Thanks to Luffy messing up, you three had gotten clower in a span of the day. Especially with the person you chose to be with.

[CONTENT WARNING for mentions of inter generational incest and grooming below, nothing explicit.] Hm. You know, it's a little unfortunate that we have reduced every depiction of characters having a relationship that is at all romantic or sexual in nature (not even, really, I've only ever drawn them hugging LOL) as "shipping". I don't "like" them together in the way I like DU drow and Astarion together, for example, and they never really were together. I made up a story that I find interesting, because I find Orin interesting and wanted to explore her themes more, and liked the idea that hers and Durge's relationship wasn't always "bad".

I really enjoy writing for DU drow, I put a lot of effort into making his story feel fleshed out and suited for the in-game universe. It's a little disheartening that some people may harp on this without considering that there is a wider context beyond it just tickling me, somehow. These are two characters who've never even had sex, in which one of them (Orin) isn't even interested in romance or "mating", and the other one has no concept of healthy relationships, familial or otherwise and just desperately grasps at the one thing he feels a kinship to: to the eventual disintegration of the one relationship he had that approached anything to mutual understanding and relatability.

Theirs isn't a love story, it's a story about isolation and grooming that led to total dependency. If you've been told your whole life that everyone and everything is fated to die at your hand, that your kind is meant to be contained within a genetical crockpot, that debauchery is normalcy and everyone else is the enemy, it is no huge stretch that you would dump all expectations of companionship onto your one, supposed equal - friend, sister, mate, should-be-lover. And then, if you're a bad person on top of that, you won't take no for an answer.

Add to that that your grandfather (Sarevok) is apparently in total agreement and a practicant of the idea of inbreeding for weird purity purposes and you have yourself an environment where an obsession like such can be born - one that Orin wants nothing to do with, because unlike DU drow, she doesn't become distracted by matters of the heart - and hence we have conflict, and we have reason for resentment to brew over time. At some point in the past, they had a "good" (within the bhaalist concept) relationship, and there was nothing sexual or romantic about it. DU drow crushed that. And then he got a worm in his brain for it.

Is that shipping? 🤷 idk

Buyers will receive their artwork privately at full resolution in .PNG format. All commissions are signed and dated.

Payment

After being completed, the commissioned artwork will be sent to you, the buyer, in .PNG format through email to ensure a near-lossless file. Alternate delivery methods are available upon request.

You must pay the entire price in advance, but only if we decide to go through with the commission.

Termination

You may cancel the commission at any time and receive a full refund of your payment until the commission is completed and sent. If I have already sent you the completed .PNG file of the commission, you are no longer able to request a refund for any reason. 

I may cancel the commission at any time and fully refund your payment if I feel I am being coerced into drawing something I am uncomfortable with, but I will not cancel a commission without giving several clear warnings first.

Rights

You may use the commission for any personal or educational purposes, including most social media profiles. You may repost the commission to social media or other websites as long as I am credited by clearly linking my Tumblr. You may use the commission for an icon, header, background, etc. on your personal (i.e. not business) social media profile as long as I am credited.

You may not use the commission for business purposes or profit off of it in any way, such as using it on icons/banners/promotional materials on a for-profit social media account (ex. Twitch, Etsy, official business Twitter accounts), uploading it to merchandise printing sites (ex. Redbubble, Cafe Press, TeePublic), tracing/spoofing the design in your own creative works, incorporating it into a larger creative project (ex. a book, game, or comic), etc. You may not license the personal/educational usage rights to third parties. It’s been a busy few months for me, but I’m finally feeling in a good place to start doing these again! Note that I only accept payment through PayPal at the moment, and my prices are in USD.

I offer characters illustrations in four styles and three sizes. The images above are not the only possibilities of how a commission could be inked or rendered, as I’m open to using different brushes or techniques on request. If there’s a particular piece of mine you like the style of, let me know and I can refer you to the pricing that applies.

OPTIONS AND RATES

Sketch: a rough sketch with a textured or untextured brush. Sketch commissions will include an under-sketch to determine pose and composition. Some of these prices are intended mostly for inclusion as part of a character sheet. I will add base colors to a sketch for double the original price.

Head/Bust: $5 ($10 with color)

Half Body: $10 ($20 with color)

Full Body: $15 ($30 with color)

Style A: Thick or medium lines with basic colors underneath. Includes simple details and gradients, but not full shading.

Chibis: I've finally found a style I like for drawing chibi characters, so I'll be including this as a new commission option! Chibis will all be done in the same style, with thick lines and basic coloring.

Character Sheet: A series of drawings of a single character, provided they are commissioned at the same time, will cost 10% less than the sum of all components. This includes characters dressed in different outfits, but normal rates apply to a commission of multiple distinct characters.

Complex Design: Since the level of the detail of a design will impact the time it takes me to draw, I am now including an additional charge of 5-10% of the original cost for especially complex designs (very detailed clothing, elaborate anatomy, complicated color/shading situations). As complexity may vary, the additional cost will vary as well (although it literally can't exceed $10 for a single drawing based on my current prices). I appreciate it if clients are understanding when I decide a drawing will cost extra, because this charge helps ensure I am earning a decent rate for my time.

PAYMENT PROCESS

As I mentioned above, I accept payment through PayPal in USD. You can send money directly to my account, @VRWintner, or if it’s more convenient for you/you would like a more specific record of the transaction, I can also send an invoice directly to your PayPal account.

For commissions of $30 or more, I require at least 50% of the cost to be paid upfront (although clients are welcome to pay more than that, or pay in full upfront). The remaining cost can be paid upon completion, and may be paid in installments if necessary. Bear in mind that if you fail to fully pay for a commission, you cannot purchase another until you have done so, and I may be hesitant to accept a commission if you are unreliable with payment.

I always welcome tips! If you're able and willing to toss me a little extra on a comm, I greatly appreciate it (but no stress if you can't--I don't expect to be paid any more than the agreed upon price, anything extra is up to you).

GUIDELINES

Please read my Will Not Write section thoroughly. Just because something is on the list doesn’t mean that I dislike or don’t support it, but there are things on that list that I just don’t have enough interest in writing. That said, things on my Will Write list do not inherently mean that I support or like it. 

Currently, the only fandoms listed that I will write for are Resident Evil Biohazard/Village/4 Remake, Sonic Live Action Movies, Sonic Creepypastas (.EXE, Rewrite, Sink), Blair Witch, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Saw (All Movies). This is because they are current hyperfixations for me and I am more capable of writing for them without issue.

I will allow up to three edits of less than 300 words before those incur a fee. If I interpreted your prompt wrong entirely, please let me know. If the confusion was on my part, no fee for a total rewrite will be incurred.

Please message me before filling out the form for a commission. I’d like to discuss particulars about certain topics and things and I’d like to approve the commission beforehand.

If given artistic freedom for a prompt, I will write how I naturally write the characters. I am willing to take direction for how you want characters to be written. I would prefer not to go against canon to the point of completely erasing a character’s identity. This does not count for certain kink scenarios (Bimbofication and other mind-altering things).

This is a kink-friendly account. I will not harass others over their fictional tastes and I do not support harassing anyone for any reason. I will write things that will make you uncomfortable. I will write things that are dead dove: do not eat. I will write a whole host of things and if that upsets you, please find someone else to commission. I am also willing to write kinks that are not mine! Please keep this in mind!

I predominantly write romance, smut, fluff, and angst, but can try my hand at other genres. 

I do not mind aging characters up for smut, and I will write any manner of ship type from m/f, m/m/, f/f, to polyamory. Please keep in mind that a fee will incur for more than 4 characters in a ship per every 1k words. If your ship includes 6 people then I will require at least 1,500 words minimum to write them. Smut for that many will be over 2,000 words easily.

For prompts, I will accept up to five words, two sentences, or a small paragraph of what you would like for me to write. Please try to be as concise as possible.

I will not start your commission until the upfront $15 for the first 500 words is paid. Once that is paid, I will begin and you will only be charged for the rest once the fic is completely finished and edited. I tend to add 100+ words to things in the editing process, as a heads-up. Payment can be made via PayPal, Venmo, and CashApp.

What I like most about Neilloey as a ship is the idea that they very much feel like (best) friends to lovers, and that despite their seperation, what they meant to each other and how they helped shape each other can't and won't be erased. They've left such deep, indelible marks on each other's lives, their relationship built on quiet nights with Neil on a standard-gauge siding next to Skarloey's shed and the two of them talking and whispering to each other in the starlit hours, taking comfort in each other's presence, dreaming of what tomorrow would bring, and over time, dreaming of each other. It's not passion or mutual interest that drives their eventual shift in relationship from that of friends to partners, but trust—trust built over the course of decades.

I really do think that, second only to Rheneas, Neil was one of the most important and impactful engines in Skarloey's life, and the two complement each other incredibly well. I've spoken about it in previous posts, but Neil's calm, analytical, laid-back attitude is a wonderful foil to Skarloey's initially bouncy, exuberant nature. Given that the two knew each other for at least 50 years (Skarloey arrived on Sodor in 1865 and Neil survived the founding of the NWR in 1915 before disappearing by WWI's end), it's quite possible and even likely that the two rubbed off on each other personality-wise, with Neil becoming a bit more energetic and Skarloey becoming a bit more calm and thoughtful, as we see him in later years. I imagine that their bond becomes incredibly tight, with the two of them being each other's confidants for everything they can't share with their respective siblings.

When the war seperates them, I think that Skarloey is heartbroken, but the work doesn't stop. He has to mourn in the wee hours, when he thinks Rheneas is sleeping, and hope and pray that they might be reunited one day. Neil would want him to keep going, he knows that. So he will, and he keeps his cherished thoughts of Neil safe and deep in the pit of his flame, and focuses on what he needs to do.

100 years pass. It's 2017. And... Neil is found. He's still technically owned by the Crovan's Gate Mining Company, which has since rebranded, but that still makes him one of Sir Handel Brown's engines, and Sir Handel Brown IV is all too happy to reunite Skarloey and Neil. And there's the worry of awkwardness, for it's been so long, but then... they just pick up right where they left off.

It's so easy, it seems almost effortless, and in some ways, it is; time has passed, but the trust has remained. And although neither of them are the same engines—the scars of years of trauma are etched deeply into Skarloey's frames and psyche both, and the guilt of abandoning his partner and almost being tempted to let himself answer the call of the void and let himself succumb and rest will forever haunt Neil—that also adds another depth, a new dimension, to their relationship.

Skarloey and Neil are not young, new engines. They know how to work together to overcome. And so they do. They talk to each other. They communicate. They unload. They support. And in the end, yes, they both have changed. But who they are—the exuberant red engine whose love runs as deep as his namesake lake, and the calm green box tank who always has good insights to share—haven't changed a bit. They're still the best friends who can talk until morning, still the partners who can entrust each other with their deepest secrets, who want each other to be the first thing they see in the morning and the last thing at night.

Imo, what makes Neilloey so great is that theirs is a relationship that could overcome such a long absence, and their bond is as rock-solid as it is because it had so much time to grow organically, between two complementary personalities. Sure, they had their fair share of friction, but nothing that couldn't be solved fairly easily, especially once Skarloey settled down a bit personality-wise. There's something comforting about the ship, and part of it is meaning so much to someone that you're not forgotten even if you disappear. Another part is recognizing that even as time has worn you both down, you're still the same engines that fell in love with each other over a century ago. Your time together gave you the strength to make it through your time apart. And you get to that point through trust, through care, and through being vulnerable—and having that vulnerability reciprocated—all of which is very typical of (best) friends to lovers, between two wise, kind engines who very much deserve only nice things after what they've been through.

Needless to say, Neilloey is my TTTE OTP for a reason. ❤️ 💚
