hello friends, it is October 1, I am at my PEAK spooky bitch, in honor of this have a list of bad summaries of everything I'm working on for whumptober (and a reminder that I have been flaunting the 'rules' of whumptober for 5 years, not planning on changing now, won't start posting until Halloween 🎃)
Day 1 (safety net, swooning, 'how many fingers am I holding up'): unlikely hero deeply resents being forced to save everyone (status: outline only, eehh sort of lower on the priority list, probably won't get finished tbh)
Day 2 (delirium, 'they don't care about you'): dude just really fucking hates a teenager for no reason; bad vibes are infectious (status: I have 332 words, should be able to finish)
Day 3 (journal, solitary confinement): I once again attempt to make found footage happen ('stop trying to make found footage happen, it's not going to happen--') (it's going to happen) (status: I'm obsessed with this, it's at 1.2k, I think I can get this done)
Day 8 (overcrowded ER): ack crowds (status: 299 words, but it's an old draft so finishing will mean getting over the cringe factor)
Day 11 (animal trap, captivity): yet another character who was definitely supposed to be dead is in fact not and is going to make that everyone's problem (status: barely an outline, I've been kicking this one around for ages but I'm sort of torn on how deep to go into the disturbing content, so...we'll see. if anything it will probably be just the first chapter of a wip)
Day 12 (red, insomnia): second chapter to a currently posting WIP in which our characters play detective, make an ill-advised, true-crime-obsessed friend, and debate the nature of ghosts (status: first draft done! needs second, currently at 7.4k, posting this one on Halloween)
Day 13 (cold compress, infection, 'I don't feel so good'): first chapter of a future WIP (I'm embracing the serialized nature of fandom) in which there are concussions, dreams, and deeply held headcanons (status: 272 words...I think I can finish it? the outline is extensive)
Day 14 (flare, water inhalation): :) big water = bad (status: 434 words, but also there are more because I'm kidnapping a cut dream from the dark ocean duology. the dreams in that got a little out of hand, but some of the cut ones were really fun so I'm glad I found this one a home)
Day 15 (suppressed suffering): deeply unfair consequences (status: first draft done, 3.2k)
Day 19 (psychological): you can't convince me that consultants aren't evil geniuses (status: 2.5k, there is 0% chance of this being finished, because it's going to be long - this is the outline that I wrote at work last week that made my hand go numb - but using the prompt as a springboard to work on it. this took over my life for a couple days last week)
Day 21 (vows, restraints, 'don't move'): folk horror #1 (yes there are two) (status: vague outline only, unlikely to be finished)
Day 23 (shadows, stalking): literally my worst nightmare (status: so this is actually excerpts from my nanowrimo project, because I need a little push to get it started and not just re-outline it again. I have one scene written in a notebook, so we're starting to chip away at that barrier)
Day 25 (storm, buried alive): HAUNTED HOUSE!!! 👻💀👻💀 HARVEST FESTIVAL!!!!!!! 🍂🎃🍂🎃STORM!!!!!!!!! ⛈️🪦⛈️🪦YEAAAAAAAAHHHHH-- (status: 269 words, this one is a late addition idea but I'm moving it up in the priority because it is the spookiest, I'm obsessed)
Day 28 (bloody knife, sacrifice): folk horror #2. this one came to me in a dream. (status: there's an older draft that has like 2.7k in it but like Day 19, I want to be able to do it justice, so I doubt it will be finished, but it's a good springboard)
Day 29 (troubled past resurfacing): a little interaction I have absolutely no business writing (status: done, 1.1k, debating moving to Day 6 (recording))
Day 30 (bridal carry): literal. babies. (status: I have about a thousand words here but I don't...love them. I really want to finish it though. I did math for this. Sort of stretching the prompt on this one.)
Alt Prompt 10 (shaking): SADNESS. 🥲 (status: first draft done, currently at 2.4k, manifestation of my denial)
'hey, you said there were 15 ideas, why are there 17 here--' shutup
laying them all out like this is slightly stressful, especially because I've become a two-draft minimum person, but I have a plan. I think I'm going to focus on first drafts until the weekend of October 14-15, when I'm going up to dogsit for my parents, then after that shift priority to the second drafts of what I have finished. I think that's...doable...? we shall see!

ALL FUCKIN 35 OF THEM SKLNWESDJFPXO
Tumblr media
I SHOULDVE EXPECTED THIS FROM YOU
1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)
A three! I think I’m mid range cause I ain’t terrible but there is still shit I gotta improve and grow in my writing
2. Why do you write fanfiction?
to manifest what canon won’t give me and to write more! (though yes it is mainly about the smooching and the— I’ll stop there LOL)
3. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?
Hm! My weird research details? I’m that “fun fact, did you know...” in my fics sometimes LOL! I plan on giving a penthouse for erina in a fic and I went through penthouse listings in Japan for floor layouts and locations💀 my research gives me inspo and depth to stuff I think I lack in comparison to others sometimes.
4. Are there any writers that inspire you?
In terms of fellow fic writers, one of them I can’t name here but she’s an inspiration with her exceptional gift for prose period and her lovely skill at comedy! I want to be as funny as her when I write, I love her ironic situational humor. Other fic writers are @takoyakitenchou, @royaldragonsevgisi15 who I always love sharing ideas with and motivate me to create more! For non-fic writers it would be V.E. Schwab, Leigh Bardugo, Oda, and Horikoshi! The last two may be mangaka, however they are writers as well to create their stories! The depth these creators have given their worlds and interesting characters theyve given life to are all what I aspire to be like!
5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?
so far uh?? hm everything I’m currently writing are wips lol!! im proud of my wip that has been nicknamed ‘soma panics’ that is a multi-chapter fic that spans like probs 20 plus chapters maybe
6. What element of writing do you find comes easily?
dialogue! it’s so much fun! and character thoughts. I’ve said to people I may be better suited for script writing
7. What element of writing do you struggle with most?
I think it’s description, of like setting and showing action. also an expansion of my vocabulary LOL
8. Which character(s) do you find easiest to write?
erina! I think it’s because canon has shown us many of her different faces and range of emotion.
9. Which character(s) do you find most difficult to write?
SOMA!! chill ass mofo whos more carefree compared to the common shonen protagonist! for other shokugeki characters I’m not sure just yet because I haven’t flexed my fingers enough for the rest of them.
10. What’s your favorite genre to write for?
I guess I should say romance cause that’s what I mostly write LOL!
11. Who or what do you find yourself writing about most?
sorina and I try to get them to smooch eventually KEK and yeah it’s..usually romantic fluff lmao
12. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about.
HONESTLY ALL OF THEM but “soma panics” is my brain child
13. First fandom you ever wrote for?
pretty sure it’s digimon....
14. What’s your favorite fandom to write for?
currently shokugeki no soma!!!!
15. What’s the weirdest fandom you’ve ever written for?
uhhhh I guess SNS? LMAO fandoms...all have their quirks to them.
16. Any guilty pleasure trope(s)?
characters cuddling!!!! or getting the urge to smooch!!!!
17. A trope you’ll never, ever write for.
unrequited love GOOD FUCKIN BYEEEEEE
18. Wildest fic you’ve ever written?
I have plot ideas thst can be wild potentially but so far nothing fits this criteria so far that I actually have written.
19. Do you prefer canon-compliant, AUs, or something in-between?
depends on the fandom, but if written well, all of it!
20. Gen fic or shippy stuff?
shippy 100% like I said I like smoochin
21. Favorite pairing to write for? (platonic or romantic!)
romantic is...*drumroll* SORINA! platonic, soutaku and erina and alice!
22. Do you listen to anything while you write?
Sometimes! There are times songs will be on loop and times I just shuffle a playlist. and if I’m writing in random bursts it’ll be with no music but it really does depend lmao I think music is when I’m forcing myself to write?
23. Do you prefer prompts and challenges, or completely independent ideas?
completely independent ideas, I’ve realized in the past prompts shoot me in the foot often unless I luckily figure something out. but I’m often driven by my own sporadic self interest with shitty ping ponging attention
24. One-shots or multi-chaptered works?
multi-chap I guess cause I can post without being finished LOLLL but tbh can I really answer? I haven’t finished anything.....
25. Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them!
I can’t answer this question imo because I haven’t finished a fic yet so technically stuff could all fit in the one fic?
26. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?
MYSTERY AND CRIME! I love the genre and I have plot ideas once a blue moon but I can’t dive in because I want to make details that work and reduce plot holes where suspension of disbelief isn’t as needed. I need to study it more (I need to study all the details for any of my fics imo to be confident sometimes LOL)
27. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?
I don’t think I can say one comment was the nicest because I’ve gotten comments that have given me quite the smiles to my face many times! I know this is a cop out but it’s true!
IS WHAT I WAS GONNA SAY UNTIL REINA SENT ME THE FOLLOWING ON DISCORD LIKE TWENTY MINS AGO:
and also rad. i am never this vocal about my emotions like EVER but this needs to be said your fics are obviously far from perfect, as are mine and everyone else's. but the thing about your works is that they're so well-sanded that it's impossible to find any rough edges or faults in them in terms of cohesion to a plot. your cast is never OOC and the amount of effort you devote to developing your takes on the characters as accurately as possible is unimaginably awe-inspiring.
BITCH I WANNA CRY 😭
28. How well do you handle criticism when it comes to your writing?
I’d like to believe I take it often well to try and improve because that’s always my goal. if someone is rude lol that’s not constructive snd is unhelpful. If I disagree with criticism I’ll explain why !
29. Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?
Not yet, but I have some plot ideas I think will let me test this.
30. Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?
F L U F F.
31. Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!
elliott fuji, a japanese-american award winning photographer who is erina’s boyfriend in ‘soma panics’ which..causes soma’s panic LOL he’s 30 with slightly wavy black hair. I still haven’t pinpointed his personality just yet...he kind of humble brags for sure an artsy fucker and flirts maybe I’ll make him a lil shy though. he teaches sometimes, and becomes an adjunct photography professor in Tokyo so he can be with erina.
32. Summarize a random fic of yours in 10 words or less.
a cook is unfashionably late in realizing his feelings.
33. Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?
I am a slow. so slow. motivation who is she? I also write out of order, unfortunately a bit too often.
34. Copy and paste an excerpt you’re particularly fond of.
this should be for the fic ‘soma panics’ it’s either megumi or satoshi talkin to him rn, I’m leaning towards satoshi
“You thought she would always wait for you, didn’t you Soma-kun? To always welcome you home.”
Soma drags his palms down his face and groans. He doesn’t like this at all. He doesn’t shy from confrontation but this is a whole different ballgame. Soma doesn’t play any ball.
“I guess..?” Is his reply, because he thinks he isn’t sure how to answer that.
“You guess?”
Just being questioned again is enough to crack Soma’s pathetic facade as if it was dropped chinaware and he lets out the longest sigh.
“No.”
Coming home means coming home to Nakiri Erina too.
Nakiri Erina is his forever.
this is @takoyakitenchou’s excerpt she’s most proud of that I’ve written, which is also from you guessed it, the long fic soma panics
SOMA: I am, I mean I will be, I swear I will always come home to you, not spend as much time abroad, once I’m done with work I’ll come right back. I’ll make sure to message you. Nakiri, I’m in love you with you. Maybe for a really long time. You know how I say I dedicate my food to you? My dad—my dad said that the key to become a good chef is to find someone to dedicate your cooking to. A special someone. For my dad it was my mom, you know? For me it’s...
(this is a good piece of dialogue tbh so I am also proud of this)
35. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!
I’ve mentioned it throughout this but the WIP I’ve nicknamed ‘soma panics’ is something I’m super excited to write, but it’s going on slowly...and almost completely out of order. out of all of my writing it showed off that particular habit of mine, along with “what is this, a shoujo manga?!” though the latter is currently being written chronologically now that I’ve posted chapter one and is pretty solid in direction. it was originally supposed to be a one shot but I got impatient and wanted to post at least something for the sorina / soueri fandom.
however, because ‘soma panics’ (I won’t call it that LOL) is my baby I want to keep true to my rule of refusing to post it until I have a draft of the entire fic finished and I’m satisfied with the main points pretty much. due to my writing out of order, I’m worried I’ll change my mind about scenes or want to reflect things in earlier chapters for later ones etc etc
I joined the SnS fandom extremely late, as season five was airing. I was a fan of the manga five years ago and dropped it because I forgot to check for updates when I caught up 😔 I really want to bang out the different fics and aus for sorina that I have before the fandom fizzles out entirely but tbh I’m writing for myself, I’m manifesting what I want to see and I’ll just share it with all my friends to read if no one else will. cause I’m slow broski I dunno what writing fast even is like LMAO I do really want to write faster though, so I can contribute more and let the words free from the discord dms....

Fic Author Tag Game
Tagged by: @halcyonhowl
Tagging: my dear friend @desiree-harding-fic
Ao3 name: fandomsnstuff
Fandoms: Currently I’m writing for taz, but I went off with the amount of v*ltron fics, I also wrote a little bit for yuri on ice and haikyuu a few years ago. For this I’m going to answer for just taz fics and in general, just for fun :)
Number of fics: 30(!) total fics, with 10 of them being taz
1. Fic you spent the most time on: That’s probably going to be Out of Time (taakitz, “real-world” & time travel au)
Although I do have a wip that’s already overtaken anything else I’ve ever written for the amount of time I’ve spent on it and it’s probably not even half done lmaoo
2. Fic you spent the least time on: Determining the Effects of Consuming the Light of Creation
tbh I don’t think this would even technically count as a fic, so aside from that, I think I spent about a max of 45 minutes of Kepler’s Laws
3. Longest fic: In general - A Foster Kid’s Confessional: 11 Unexpected Uses for Families (14 241 words, keith/lance, modern au)
For taz - Out of Time (14 167 words)
4. Shortest fic: Kepler’s Laws (545 words)
5. Most hits: In general - Five times Keith saw Lance cry, and the one time Lance saw Keith cry. (4837 hits, fic is exactly what it says on the tin)
For taz -  Out of Time (830 hits, please read my fic she’s so good I promise)
6. Most kudos:  In general - Five times Keith saw Lance cry, and the one time Lance saw Keith cry. (584 kudos)
For taz -  Out of Time (148 kudos)
7. Most comment threads:  Out of Time (22 comments)
8. Fave fic you wrote: I’m going to pick a few because I can. So in no particular order:
Don’t Commit Felonies, Kids - picked for the title alone. It’s about pidge (katie) reuniting with her dad in v*ltron
I Missed You - Listen v*ltron was trash, but this fic? Soft as hell. Someone complimented my characterization of the characters in this fic and it immediately became one of my favourites.
Stay Safe Out There - Barry Bluejeans is shaped like a dad and I’m always soft for him and his baby girl, and this whole fic is just him loving his daughter
Out of Time - There’s a reason this one has come up a lot, I spent like two weeks on this, and I Went Off if I do say so myself
9. Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: tbh I wouldn’t mind redoing Twists, Turns, and Shifts if I found the time and/or motivation bc I dunno. I don’t hate this one, but it’s the first taz fic I did and I think I could do it better if I really wanted to
10. Share a bit of your WIP or share a story idea that you’re planning: Okay so I’m in the process of writing a frozen 2 inspired fic with my blupjeans baby oc, but it’s multi-chapter and it has to be complete before I post it or it’ll never get done. This au has been in development literally since I saw frozen 2 on boxing day (dec 26th) and I adore it it’s so good.
Trying to pick and excerpt for this was very difficult, but here’s some mom Lup for ya
An eight-year old Lilliana sits cross-legged on the floor of her room, Lup across from her and an unlit candle sitting between them. She stares intently at the candle, willing it to light up. When nothing happens, she crosses her arms and huffs, frustrated. The fire in the hearth next to her flares up accordingly. Seeing this, Lilliana groans (prompting the fire to flare again) and falls back to lay down on the carpet.
“I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.”
Lup moves to sit next to her. “You’re not doing anything wrong,” she brushes a loose piece of hair out of Lilli’s face and tucks it behind her ear, “you just have to keep practising, you’ll get the hang of it.”
Lilliana looks up at Lup and pouts. “How should you know, Mama? You don’t have magic.”
Lup’s hand pauses in its ministrations with Lilli’s hair. She looks into her daughter’s hazel eyes, eyes that she knows are gold underneath. She tamps down the aching in her chest and sighs, smiling softly. “You’ve got me there, baby girl.”
Long story short: Lup and Barry makes some questionable parenting decisions, Lilliana is Elsa but better, Angus frets over her health, Taako loves his niece, Kravitz is just hoping everything works out

I was tagged by @thelittlefanpire and @easilydistractedbyfanfic - Thank you!
Fandoms you write for: Currently just The 100. I’ve been in a variety of fandoms over the years but I don’t see myself going back to any of them except possibly, at some point, Star Trek (TOS/AOS) and Harry Potter. I’m basically a one-fandom-at-a-time kind of person.
Where you post: Primarily on AO3, though I also post short fics and excerpts to tumblr. I also have accounts on ff.net and lj but I don’t update them anymore.
Most popular one shot: Within The 100 fandom, What We Built (a Bellarke post S2 AU) by kudos and by comments. This fic is actually also my most popular one-shot among all fandoms. Which is somewhat weird to me, because it’s fine, but tbqh it’s not among my favorites of my own work.
Most popular multi-chapter: So I don’t write that many multi-chapter fics, and most of my older ‘multi-chapter’ fics would have been posted as one-shots. My most popular multi-chapter by far in any fandom is a Star Trek fic that is also a complete outlier among my work in every respect so I almost don’t feel like it counts. My most popular multi-chapter within The 100 fandom by both kudos as comments is oh well, you’ve got me under your spell (a Bellarke HS AU) which I’m counting as multi-chapter even though I’ve only written 1 chapter of it and it sure does look abandoned! But it’s not.
Favorite story you wrote: Among all my work ever, I’d have to say something from my HP era, perhaps Words Like Smoke (an MWPP 1920s AU) or Elegy (an R/S OotP era fic). I just have a real fondness for that time, I suppose. Among my T100 fics… that’s harder because not enough time has passed for me to really know which ones will stand out in my mind in the long term. I guess I would say Bring It On Home (Summer Bellarke with a side of Millarke BroTP) and Iridescent (a Jonty AU).
Story you were nervous to post: Tbh I don’t really get nervous to publish fics often anymore. That probably says something about how hard I’ve been pushing myself/experimenting in the last few years lol--which is to say, not very much. I guess I get a little nervous about stories with explicit sex scenes. And I’m nervous even to write, let alone post, the next chapter of some of my WIPs just because of how long has passed since the last chapter went up. I’m embarrassed by the delay and also worried the new parts won’t hold up.
How do you choose your titles: Almost always, I use either a song lyrics or a quote from a book, or an important word or phrase from the fic. On rare occasions, I get more creative.
Do you outline: Roughly, short answer, yes. Every now and then I will have a general idea for a story and I’ll just start writing. This is especially likely to happen if the story is a fluff fic (not much to plot), if I have a really good start that I just need to get down, or if the plot is pretty obvious from the idea. But even then, I’m likely to jot down scene ideas later as they come to me so I don’t forget.
Most of the time, though, I plan before I write. I get my ideas together by writing out some paragraphs on my thoughts for the fic, and then I distill that to the core of the idea/a broad sense of the plot, and then into a specific list of scenes. Then I write off the list. Sometimes, for more complicated projects, I’ll have a main outline for the whole fic, and then mini-outlines for each scene, which I do as I go along, so I know I’m hitting all of the plot points.
Complete number of stories: I have 173 fics on AO3 currently. Three of those are actually ficlet collections, and four are WIPs. However, it’s completely possible that I have some old fic on LJ that I never got around to crossposting to AO3. So on average I’d say about 170.
In progress: I have 4 WIPs on AO3 atm. (I’m including A Watch With No Hands in this count even though it says it’s complete. It is not complete in any really meaningful sense.) I also have 3 more informal WIPs on tumblr. If this question is about works in progress in general, including unpublished stuff on my computer ...oh boy I don’t even know how to begin to answer that lol. I’d say 20-30 depending on how you count: more if you include stories that are on my mind and/or outlined, fewer if you limit the count to stories that I’ve actually started writing.
Do you accept prompts: Usually, I would say yes. I don’t get prompts very often (outside of specifically solicited prompts for a particular purpose) and I find it very flattering. But right now… I’m struggling a bit with writing in general and I feel like I have too many ideas already and I think getting a prompt would probably overwhelm me, especially since I would feel obligated to write it. So. I don’t know. I would say no, I’m not accepting prompts right now, but maybe I will in the future again. Maybe for the holidays or as part of a follower celebration, or maybe randomly. I don’t know.
Upcoming story you are most excited about: Hmm. Well, like I said, I’ve been going through some hard times as far as writing goes, recently. I had this whole rant about it but I’ve deleted it because it’s quite OT to this question. Basically, it’s hard for me to get up much excitement at the moment for almost anything. I guess the project I’m most excited about, despite or perhaps because I doubt I’ll ever actually write it, is the massive Ark AU I’ve been planning off and on for almost the entire time I’ve been in this fandom. I’ve written a little bit on it but mostly I’ve just been trying to balance all of the characters, relationships, and story lines and form them into some sort of coherent whole. I love this universe immensely, even if I doubt it will ever become a complete story.
