ok cool so this all makes total sense but quick question, and seriously, correct me if i’m wrong
but wasn’t five 13 when he disappeared? in 2002? or was that just a general headcanon by fans? i couldve sworn it was completely canon in the show…?

every time I mention Ace Attorney around my (defense lawyer) father, he asks if I’ll be going to law school now
the best bit was me telling him that if I did that, I would be fulfilling the Phoenix Wright prophecy because I’d be dropping my art degree to pursue law

the current ios version is 18.0

i feel like we kinda miss the whole. catalyst for fiona and lips relationship exploding.
here's your older sister, and here's the only person you've ever been able to trust. she tells you to get out again and again and again, even though you're so afraid that the moment you turn around everything is going to fall apart. getting out, and then getting the rest of them out, is your job. that's what your supposed to do.
neither of you have been able to trust your parents and all you have is each other, and she's telling you to get out. and it's either doom everyone around you by staying, or trust her and leave.
and then, right as you're finally starting to find the rhythm of a world you've beed denied access to your whole life, it's because of her, the only person you've ever been able to trust in you entire existence, because of you leaving and trusting, that your five year old brother almost dies. he's comatose. he's covered in tubes. he might never be the same again. the only person you've ever trusted has done the exact same thing your parents did. Put drugs and alcohol and letting loose above the kids their supposed to take care of.
Is it any wonder Lip stops trusting her. That Lip takes the longest to forgive her. "it wasn't her coke she didn't leave it out" she got high around a toddler and left him near the cocaine. left the cocaine where he could get it. the two other adults picked him up and danced with him with coke on the table. Lip walks in on this after spending an entire day trying to rescue their other brother. His little sister is the one who finds their baby brother.
even discounting that in response to this he has to suddenly start stealing food or else all the kids in the house will starve, or that Fiona suddenly jackrabbits into another person he has to care for instead of someone he can trust, or that he now has to care for a 4 year old, while working a job, and being a full time college student on work study, discounting all of that of course Lip looses faith in his sister. Of course he does.

"Children should be dragged kicking and screaming to school and the doctor's office and grandma's house and the park" is not and never will be a pro-child opinion.
If your kid doesn't want to go to school so much that they throw a temper tantrum and scream until they go hoarse, and your response is "shut up because you have to go" the problem is still you ignoring your kids needs and you're a shitty parent.
#I always remember a fight I got into on Reddit about this woman complaining that her kid hated broccoli#Because SHE had power and her 4 year old did not this meant that every meal had to feature broccoli#So literally every meal was a fight with her 4 year old and she called it a “power struggle”#Ma'am he's 4#The complaint was he's manipulative and awful and bratty because when he started crying his dad would say he didn't have to eat the broccol#She literally described her own toddler as spoiled#Anyway we as the audience were supposed to side with her against her indulgent husband since she was a SAHM and knew everything#My comment was obviously stop trying to make him eat broccoli?#Her response was that children HAVE to eat vegetables and I wouldn't understand bc I didn't have children#If she didn't force feed her toddler vegetables the vegetable police would shoot her or something#When I said yes but there are dozens of types of vegetables why can't he eat a carrot?#I was informed that she controlled what he ate and he needed to eat what she fed him#Like the only person causing a fight is you#You are unhinged and that child should not be in your custody#But somehow I was crazy for saying that if your kid doesn't like something don't feed them it?#I was told children have to be force exposed to things they don't like especially if they don't like them#So they don't grow up to eat limited diets which is apparently more embarrassing than your kid crying so hard he throws up#And refusing to eat any food that you prepare#But I'm the crazy one!

I've been thinking about the tragedy of Elizabeth Woodville living to see the end of her family name.
I don't mean her family with her husband, which lived on through her daughter and grandson. I mean her own.
Her sisters died, one by one, many of them after 1485. When Elizabeth died, only Katherine was left, and she would die before the turn of the century as well.
All her brothers died, too. Lewis died in childhood. John was executed. Anthony was murdered. Lionel died suddenly in the peak of Richard's reign, unable to see his niece become queen. Edward perished at war. Richard died in grieving peace. For all the violence and judgement the family endured, it was "an accident of biology" that ended their line: none of the brothers left heirs, and the Woodville name was extinguished. We know the family was aware of this. We know they mourned it, too:
“Buy a bell to be a tenor at Grafton to the bells now there, for a remembrance of the last of my blood.”
Elizabeth lived through the deposition and death of her young sons, and lived to see the end of her own family name. It must have been such a haunting loss, on both sides.
#(the quote is by Richard Woodville in his deathbed will; he was the last of the Woodville brothers to die)#elizabeth woodville#woodvilles#my post#to be clear I am not arguing that the death of an English gentry family name is some kind of giant tragedy (it absolutely the fuck is not)#I'm trying to put it into perspective with regards to what Elizabeth may have felt because we know her family DID feel this way#writing this kinda reminded me of how I am just not fond at all about the way Elizabeth's experiences in 1483-85 are written about#and the way lots so many of the unprecedentedly horrifying aspects are overlooked or treated so casually:#the seizure and murder of two MINOR sons and the illegal execution of another;#her sheer vulnerability in every way compared to all her queenly predecessors; how she was harassed by 'dire threats' for months;#how she had 5 very young daughters with her to look after at the time (Bridget and Katherine were literally 3 and 4 years old);#how unprecedented Richard's treatment of her was: EW was the first queen of england to be officially declared an adulteress;#and the first and ONLY queen to be officially accused of witchcraft#(Joan of Navarre was accused of her treason; she was never explicitly accused of witchcraft on an official level like EW was)#the first crowned queen of england to have her marriage annulled; and the first queen to have her children officially bastardized#what former queens endured through rumors* were turned into horrifying realities for her.#(I'm not trying to downplay the nightmare of that but this was fundamentally on a different level altogether)#nor did Elizabeth get a trial or appeal to the church. like I cannot emphasize this enough: this was not normal for queens#and not normal for depositions. ultimately what Richard did *was* unprecedented#and of course let's not forget that Elizabeth had literally just been unexpectedly widowed like 20 days before everything happened#I really don't feel like any of this is emphasized as much as it should be?#apart from the horrifying death of her sons - but most modern books never call it murder they just write that they 'disappeared'#and emphasize that ACTUALLY we don't know what happened to them (this includes Arlene Okerlund)#rather than allowing her to have that grief (at the very least)#more time is spent dealing with accusations that she was a heartless bitch or inconsistent intriguer for making a deal with Richard instead#it also feels like a waste because there's a lot that can be analyzed about queenship and R3's usurpation if this is ever explored properly#anyway - it's kinda sad that even after Henry won and her daughter became queen EW didn't really get a break#her family kept dying one by one and the Woodville name was extinguished. and she lived to see it#it's kinda heartbreaking - it was such a dramatic rise and such a slow haunting fall#makes for a great story tho

okay.
so it's either a very fancy very nerdy little anvil paperweight
OR
little tyelpe had a teeny tiny forge-like dollhouse made for him by feanor, who painstakingly designed every tiny detail and made all toy equipment himself because tyelpe, too young to be in forge, insisted that he absolutely needs to be a smith like his father and grandfather and needs to begin learning now.
and who was feanor to refuse his only grandson who wanted to learn his craft when he only started to walk without bumping into everything? feanor would be elated and would spend hours playing with tyelpe in his little forge. it was before the silmarils when feanor had all the time in the world for his beloved grandson.
the anvil was one of many parts of that dollhouse, one of few that made it to beleriand and the only one that made it through to the second age with celebrimbor.
he could never make himself part with it.
#yeah#nothing better than taking a look at an item appearing for like 1 second and making a heartwrenching headcanon#i love stabbing myself with angst#i headcanon that celebrimbor was very young when they left valinor#not a toddler but maybe an equivalent of 7-8 year old#old enough to understand some things but young enough to be absolutely traumatized#based on that one absolutely amazing fanart of curufin and little tyelpe where he apparently had a nightmare#and curufin says 'no one is coming to take you' and tyelpe responds with 'but they took uncle nelyo'#i saw it some 3-4 years ago and i kid you not it randomly appears in my brain just to haunt me#so he is still a child and was allowed to take some of his toys and obviously his little forge had to come with him#not all of it only some parts because there were more important things to pack#and feanor promised him they would make the missing equipment together once they settled down and were relatively safe#and then he died#and then over the years some of the toys were lost and some were broken#and then celebrimbor was no longer a child and when they had to run he packed food and clothes and weapons not his toys#but this little anvil he would snuck into his pack anyway#and against all odds the anvil made it through the first age unscathed#if there was one thing reminding him of better times it was this#somebody fucking sedate me#brainrot has taken control over my every thought literally#celebrimbor#tyelpe#telperinquar#curufin#feanor#rings of power#beleriand#valinor#first age#silmarillion

I'm glad that this stunt doesn't bother you but everyone is different and it is super frustrating to basically be told 'get over it' every time stunt content comes to the forefront. Why can't we just accept that this doesn't phase some people and for others, it phases them a lot and just let both parties be.
Also, I would argue that the nature of babygate makes being appalled and disgusted by it a completely reasonable take. Personally, I don't find it to be in the same vein as other things that can easily be brushed off.
I mean if you took me saying “look into Radical Acceptance” as saying “get over it” I’m going to assume either you have shit reading comprehension or you didn’t go look what radical acceptance was. And reducing a very difficult but important skill down to “get over it” is doing no one any favors. Because for the record … “Radical Acceptance” is a literal DBT skill. It’s so much more than “get over it”
I’m gonna be very real with you - and everyone in fandom. The stunts should not bother you to a point of distress because the stunts do not involve you. If they do you need to step away. This has always been the fandom mantra. What any celebrity does in their personal life should never affect a fan that deeply. That mentality - of being so attached to celebrities that it affects your day to day mood - is partially what people are talking about when they discuss parasocial relationships.
Please note. I am not telling anyone to “get over it”. I’m not even telling anyone to not have any emotional response. But you gotta be proportional. And THATS what I was addressing when I said looking into radical acceptance.
A final note: yes bg is a unique situation to other stunts but at the end of the day it’s still just a stunt. It still does not affect us the fans. We are not going to impact babygate at all. Not our distress, not our disgust, not our attempts at boycotting. We have no power here. And that’s why I personally believe anyone who is that distressed by bg truly needs to look into something like Radical Acceptance.

its so silly but i just keep thinking abt being in norway and seeing for the first time kinda ever that like governments can do things to make peoples life better. for no other reason but just to improve things. like im sure norway has lots of problems i didnt see on a trip but i cannot stress how insane it was that the government had done things because it would be nice. to take care of people. ?????

The Noble House of Lockwood
Lord Alistair Lockwood, his wife Lady Evangeline Lockwood, and their children: Silas, Byron, and Theodore Lockwood.
Lord Alistair Lockwood
Current head of the Lockwood Estate.
Wood Elf.
Extremely wealthy.
Member of the ruling council of Arborcea.
Takes great (too much) pride in his house, name, and family.
Has a short temper and is quick to bring it out on those who displease him.
Loves his [legitimate] sons, although he's not good at showing it, at least not in healthy ways.
Had an affair with a human woman ~27 years ago that resulted in Rook's birth.
One of the key players in placing Arborcea under Elven rule.
Very well-respected among the other nobles.
Stubborn and prideful, even arrogant. (His eldest son, Silas, takes after him in this regard.)
Despite his prominent place on the council, he hungers for more. More power, more wealth, more influence.
Very traditionalist/old-fashioned.
A strict father, but well-respect and even idolized by his [legitimate] sons.
Lady Evangeline Lockwood
Lady of the Lockwood Estate.
Eldest daughter of another of Arborcea's noble houses.
High Elf.
Her and Alistair's marriage was an arranged one for politics and money, not love.
Strongly begrudges Alistair for the affair that led to Rook's existence, and has not forgiven him yet. (26 years is a blink of an eye for an elf.)
Despite this, will forever and always keep up appearances of a happy and faithful couple. (Even when they are alone, she hardly ever shows her displeasure with Alistair.)
Was thrilled when Rook ran away, because it meant that there was no longer a constant reminder of her husband's infidelity and shame wandering the halls of her house.
Vain, and always fishing for compliments from everyone around her.
Cleverer than she lets on.
Her sons are her greatest love and pride. They can do (almost) no wrong in her eyes. (However, damaging the image of house Lockwood does count as wrong.)
Has tea gatherings with the other noble ladies where they talk shit about anything and anyone.
Very strict mistress to the servants and anyone in her employ.
Also a strict mother, though much more loving.
Silas Lockwood
The oldest Lockwood brother.
The closest thing to a "rebellious" kid the [legitimate] Lockwood family has.
Stereotypical "popular kid": has a ton of friends and is always the center of attention despite being a dick to most people.
Is rarely at home, usually off "adventuring" (aka, paying other people to do the real work, then let him come in and deal the final blow and taking the credit.)
Excellent fencer, but initially trained for dueling competitions for entertainment, not lethality. His style is kind of exaggeratedly showy because of this.
When he's not adventuring or dueling, he's usually in a tavern, slightly drunk and surrounded by "20 of his closest friends". (or "friends"... most of them are using him or he's using them. He's aware of this and doesn't care.)
Has his father's short temper and intense pride. Can never walk away from a fight.
Hates nothing more than losing/being humiliated.
Byron Lockwood
Middle child, often overlooked in favor of his siblings.
Most boring/practical of the kids.
Doesn't really know what he wants in life.
Doomed to always be out-shined by Silas or Theo.
Totally not bitter about it.
Currently engaged to the daughter of another noble house.
Wants to inherit the title of Lord Lockwood, and is offended that someone as irresponsible as Silas would get it.
Perfectionist. Expects the best from everyone around him at all times.
The only Lockwood kid with a "real" job. (Manages some of his father's interests in a handful of shipping companies based in Arborcea.)
Think of the stereotypical shitty boss: Greedy, ambitious, treats his underlings like tools not people.
Theodore "Theo" Lockwood
The youngest Lockwood brother.
His parents' favorite.
Mama's boy, has Lady Lockwood wrapped around his finger and he knows it.
Spoiled youngest child. Is used to getting everything he wants whenever he wants it.
Will get very upset if his desires are not met.
Has spent the last few decades attending various kind of universities for degrees in all sorts of things. (the perks of being an elf and super rich, I guess.)
When asked about his plans "after schooling", he just does a kind of vague handwave and starts rambling about "research projects", but can't give any straight answers.
Will probably end up as some kind of weird professor/research funder: Ultra wealthy, multiple PHDs, "inventor" (but really just pays people to invent things for him), more than a little bit of a jerk. All his future students will come in so thrilled to meet this famous guy who's done so much impressive shit, but end up leaving disillusioned about their idol.
Not as smart as he seems. More than possibly has paid his way through at least a few of his classes/degrees.
As an academic will almost certainly plagiarize most or all of his work.
