So, the podcast i shared yesterday has a longer version of Greg and Alex's interview. I have started listening to it, but I'm at work, so I can't get to it all, but it's so good for chatter about Greg and Alex.
Greg mentions the camping trip they had and it wasn't just the two of them but some other friends too. He said that they suggested having a bbq and then they got so drunk he can't remember anything else. Alex also said about the infamous owl theft at the Groucho club that he didn't remember and had a text from Rosie Jones thanking him for bringing the owl to the table and he didn't know what that meant so had to call either Greg or Tim to find out as he was too drunk to remember.
Also, they talk about inviting one another to events. Alex says he doesn't invite Greg to some things because he thinks he won't like them (football match, which Greg says is correct) and then he says a pub quiz in Chesham that he think Greg would like but about getting back afterward. Greg says he can stay at Alex's afterwards and says that Alex shouldn't be worrying about all these things as Greg can worry about them.
More later....

Monday 14th October 2024
Theatre day today at the tiny Drama venue within the Sydney Opera complex, so after 18,000 steps yesterday walking to the Spit, we thought it prudent to take it easy this morning. Necessary as well as prudent because precipitation is definitely in sight, if not far away. Well this is Spring after all. The schools have gone back this morning after their holiday and suburbia, usually quiet anyway, has returned to the hallowed cloisters of the norm. It's true we did get the whiff of a small party/ bbq yesterday but the Aussies don't make a fuss. It's also true, it seems, that instead of making a mess at home, convocations gather on grassy places by the beach; impressive table networks, mass catering equipment and food galore sufficient for the 5,000 mystically appear with no outward concerns for shelter but usually under trees seeking protection from the sun rather than rain as would be the case in the UK. As we crossed Clontarf Beach yesterday there were many such groups each having a very jolly relaxing time, well practised as though a very regular activity was taking place. The local authority amenity BBQs were also being fully exercised.
So this morning it was a book in the modest garden and for some, the Archers on catch-up.
After an early lunchtime egg and ham sandwich we set off on the 173X to the City, first stop Museum of Contemporary Art on Circular Quay.
I have to say that I must be a lapsed Modern Art appreciator. The first exhibition we innocently submitted to was by a 74 year old Contemporary Australian artist, Julie Rrap who possibly for the security or anonymity it offered reversed her given name of Parr. Julie's work expresses her interest in images of the body, especially the female body, mainly as far as I could tell, hers. The big screen showed herself sitting naked on a very big sheet of white paper holding a camera in one hand and a big stick of charcoal in the other. The aim of the game was to rotate and draw around various parts, hands, feet, legs and the stunning result was a very large scribble in a sort of spirographic form. Well that was good wasn't it! On the way into the area was a little sign which said there was adult content and the establishment would not stand for any lude or provocative behaviour. Moving on we came across a sort of patio made up of small tiles which you were invited to trespass upon. All the while there is a kind of drilling noise, regular but in pulses. Somewhat perplexed about the image I was to take away, I enquired of the attendant what the meaning was of the noise. I agree she said, it's SO annoying, it's been going on all day. They are doing some work in the next room. Oh I said, it's nothing to do with the artwork then? No, she said with inflection, and looked at me like I was an idiot.
We would have left there and then but it was raining so we wandered around some other idiotic displays.
Contemporary Art and me are on different planets.
Then it was to an early dinner before the show. We dashed through the rain to a very nearly closed food hall between the IBM office and Woolworths. Saving an Indian meal or two from a night in the bin, we secured two Rogan Josh and Chicken Tikka plates with nan bread, which was filling if nothing else. Sadly, due to the viscosity of the sauce and my careless eating habits, I ended up sharing memories of the meal encoded within the fabric of my shorts with my fellow theatre goers at the Sydney Opera House!
The billing for Julia said this 'In 2012, Australia's first female prime minister, Julia Gillard, gave a speech that sent shockwaves around the world'. Justine Clarke plays Julia Gillard in a powerful monologue representation of her premiership but starting her story from her early beginnings in Barry, South Wales. The influences of her mining roots, the stories of the 1960 disaster at Six Bells colliery, the 1966 tragic loss at Aberfan shaped her thinking for justice. Moving to Adelaide in 1966 as £10 poms, she determined to study law. The play builds us to the speech on 9th October 2012 when in parliament and as PM she has to both condemn the actions of the Speaker of the House, Peter Slipper, for making sexist, misogynistic comments in a text message, whilst ensuring that her position remained firm in a minority government. She was being attacked by the the leader of the opposition party in a no confidence motion by, Tony Abbott. The speech that sent shockwaves around the world turned the tables on Abbott, pointing the finger at multiple examples of hypocrisy, sexism and misogyny by Abbott himself! Brilliant play, brilliant performance by Justine and incredibly interesting subject even to someone from the Motherland. As she donned the red wig and slipped into the power jacket, Justine became Julia and boomed out the acclaimed speech. She took a standing ovation from all corners of the stalls.
Ferry back to Manly, then with 30 minutes to spare we thought how nice it would be to finish a great day out with a small beer in the Bavarian. Quarter past nine it was, sorry we are now closed they said, it's Monday! Wow, you Australians sure know how to party! Same for all the other pubs in town!
ps. Mince pies seen in Coles!

Not what I was expecting to be writing today, after I invited him round for an intimate BBQ yesterday Lewis asked to move in! It may be a little fast, but I said yes!
The actually shock I felt when this notification showed up! My girl has been on one date and is already locked down.

I am, shall we say, severely melanin deficient. However, my husband and in-laws are Black.
My mother-in-law cracks the fucking WILDEST and most hysterical jokes I have ever heard. And the WHITE GUILT I feel when laughing. Omfgggg.
I know she wouldn’t tell me them if she didn’t expect me to find them funny, but OH MY GOD. This woman is gonna be the death of me.
。:゚゚(´∀`)・。
She said something yesterday that I cannot in good faith repeat. But let’s just say it far surpassed that time she told me she invited some of her white coworkers to the bbq so I wouldn’t be lonely. As said white coworkers were walking up to us.
ʱªʱªʱª(ᕑᗢूᓫ∗)
For the record, my husband also takes great joy in watching me writhe in white guilt. It must be a family trait.
She already told me I can’t laugh about something come August when we’re visiting them and I was just like…MA’AM THAT IS THE SUREST WAY TO ENSURE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I DO AND YOU KNOW IT.
Giving me a month to prepare WILL NOT HELP. I am DOOMED.
(It’s not that serious but damn if I won’t be thinking about it the entire fucking time…)

Tuesday 20th June
I've had the loveliest day off today! Went to visit family yesterday including my dad for belated fathers day since I was working Sunday, and as usual he just sort of blanked me and sat not making eye contact with me, staring away looking for anyone else to come into the bar and getting really excited and chatty with them when they did. Like hello I am your daughter can you spare me one hour of your time to have a fucking conversation? Nope. As usual 😒 so was feeling pretty sad and angry after that but it was precisely what I had been expecting so it's whatever.
So today I was so happy to have one whole entire day all to myself. Got up early and walked Maggie at 8am so Matt could get home from nightshift and eat his breakfast and get to bed in peace and quiet. We had a lovely walk and Maggie made a new friend I hadn't seen before, a little boxer called Bella 😭 she was gorgeous. Did a quick change when we got home and went straight back out for a little run as it was forecast to rain all day. I left at 10 and it was just starting to spit and it just got gradually heavier so it was a heacy drizzle by the time I was heading home. Then the heavens opened and it rained torrentially all afternoon 🤣 I normally hate being out in the rain but running in it especially when it's still warm is sooo good and refreshing. I'm still sans fitbit but I did my usual route so roughly 4 miles at a half decent pace bc I was listening to a lot of drum & bass lol. I was out about 45 mins. Saw a little baby foal!! He was so sweet 🥹
Then just did chores, had lunch, did some lovely yoga, walked Maggie again. Made a big batch of pasta bake for dinners this week. My new phone arrived so been playing around with it getting it set up. I'm so happy to be able to have more than like 3 apps again and the camera is so good compared to my old one. Look at this compared to the absolute trash quality I usually post 😂
Other little nice things: went to Matt's parents' for a bbq on saturday after work. It was lovely and we had smores for dessert 😍
Also our wedding invitation samples arrived! My best friend's mam is a stationer so obvs we wanted her to make them and she didn't disappoint 😍
Back to work tomorrow. Hope everyone is well! 😊

Perfect: Neji Fanfiction
If she had to listen to Ino talk about her midriff showing for one more second, she was going to lose it. She could care less about her midriff or anything else when she was lost in this world that definitely wasn’t her own.
“I’ll take that into account.”
She makes her way pass the shy girl, giving her a smile as she goes. She’s got to get out of here fast as she knows that where Ino is Shikamaru and Choji aren’t far behind. She never thought that she would live in a world where she had to avoid Shikamaru. He was normally a good friend of hers, but in this world, he couldn’t carry a conversation longer than two seconds.
Everything was different here.
Hell, Naruto wasn’t even Naruto. His name was Menma. A little bit of pre-teen Sauske thrown together with all of her Naruto’s cockiness. It was a deadly mix. Still, it was so nice for Minato to invite her to dinner the first night she found herself there with nowhere to go. Seeing Naruto interact with his mother and father was heartwarming. It made her miss her own family. Namely her team, that she hadn’t seen since she arrived. The other members of Team Gai must be on a mission.
She wondered what the others would be like. Would ferocious Ten-Ten be as shy as this world’s Ino? Would Rock Lee hate Gai Sensei? Would Neji act any different towards her than he normally did? Could she stand it if she did?
No, that was a foolish thing to think about. Neji was her friend, and she had to get out of here. It didn’t matter how this Neji treated her.
“There you are!” a voice called, and she turned to see the most heinous thing she could imagine. Guy Sensei was standing there sans green jumper. Of course, he was wearing other clothes, but the sight of him in anything other than his signature leotard was a bit jarring.
Behind him quickly came up the others.
Thankfully, Lee was still wearing his green suit. Anything else would have probably sent her into shock. Ten-Ten was there too. She smiled cautiously at her team mate. Ten-Ten wiped her brow.
“There you are. We’ve been waiting for you since we got back yesterday. I thought you would still be in the hospital, but they said you checked out.”
That was news.
Perhaps that was when the switch happened. She hadn’t considered this before, but that could also be a possibility. Maybe this world was as real as hers, and the person who belongs here and her just switched places. If that was the case then at least she wasn’t the only one working on this issue.
Though, what would that say about this her if that “her” was smarter than her? Is she the dumb one?
“It looks like you’re thinking awfully hard there.”
She felt a hand on her shoulder, and turned to look. Her Neji was never one for physical touch, yet this Neji was so casually touching her shoulder and looking at her with such concern.
It made her stomach drop.
“Are you all right? We were just heading to get something to eat, you want to come along?”
The grumbling in her stomach answered for her.
Team 10 had their bbq dates and Team Guy had dumplings. She could live on dumplings, and she was glad to see that that hadn’t changed in this reality.
The dumplings also provided her with an excuse not to talk. She listened as not quite her Rock Lee and Ten-Ten talked about some of the details from their previous mission.
She nodded along in the right places, but mostly kept to herself. She thought no one noticed, but as they were leaving Neji grabbed her hand.
“What’s up with you?”
“What?” she asked, the picture of nonchalance.
“I’m fine. I’m just heading home.” ‘
“Then, I’ll walk you.” He made a motion like “lead the way”, but as she had been sleeping on the playground for the past week, she could only guess which way her home was. She started walking in the direction she hoped was accurate, but was quickly stalled by another hand on her shoulder.
“Stop.”
Neji was looking at her like he had never seen her before.
“I know that something is wrong. I’ve been watching you, and I just…” he stalled, and the motion failed her deeply. Why couldn’t her Neji ever look at her like this? Like his whole world would fall apart if she wasn’t okay? She knew that her Neji cared for her, but she never knew if he cared for her the way that she has always cared for him. But if this world was the opposite, then she had her answer.
“You can come home with me,” he finally said. “We can work out whatever this is in the morning.”
Now that had taken her off guard.
Neji had never invited her to the Hyuga compound. That was strictly off limits as the head of the house was notorious for disliking outside visitors.
“Are you sure?” she asked.
Neji smiled. “Of course, you know they love seeing you. It’s like your apart of the family. You are like a sister to me.”
“A sister?”
“Of course. I love you like the sister I never had. Like Hinata Sama.”
A sister?
“So, you’re not in love with me?”
Neji looked as if she had asked him to eat the last bit of calamari. Then he let out a loud laugh that would have made her feel better if it had been a gag.
“Of course not..”
She felt a pull on her midsection. Then that means.
She was pulled back to her reality as gently as she had fallen into this one.
That other her may be the smart one, but at least, her Neji didn’t break out into laughter when he thought of kissing her.
“Are you all right?” Lee said as he helped her up. She was on her back in the middle of some field.
“You just passed out. Are you alright?” Ten-Ten asked. She nodded. Her gaze turning upward, locking with Neji’s.
“I’m fine,” she said. “I’m perfect.”

so yesterday was the worst day ever. i was out with my dog, friends and their dogs in our local dog forest... and my dog was attacked and dragged down a mountain. i literally jumped down the mountain, to save my dog, bc the owner of this blood thirsty dog was stoned and was sitting his ass down smoking his shit ass weed and not reacting at all.
thankfully people and my friends came to help. this dog was repeatedly trying to bite my dog's throat. my dog was literally on his back, screaming his lungs out and this attack dog was standing on top of him and trying to get to his throat. my dog was literally only saved bc of his thick coat (samoyed) and his thick dog harness.
i went to the police, bc this guy and his dog are apparently known and someone gave me his name, address and dogs breed. the breed is very important, bc this breed is forbidden in germany and can only be owned if you have a license... a proof you can handle this breed.
yesterday evening i get a call from a random number and it's a dog owner who's dog had its throat ripped open by this aggressive dog. thankfully the dog is alive but only survived due to an emergency surgery.
today i'm invited to a BBQ, where i will meet literally 6 other dog owners who had been attacked by this dog. my whole body hurts (due to jumping and sliding down this 15meters high mountain) but i'll gladly join bc we are collecting data and gonna file a class action lawsuit. bc this dog needs to be taken away, since the drug addict won’t put a damn muzzle and leash on this dog.
what scary is... this dog showed NO SIGN of aggression. NO WARNING. this dog went from 0 to ballistic bloodthirsty monster. while leo (my dog) was just walking past this dog.
so.... i had to let it out bc i'm still a crying mess and everything hurts and i guess i got a trauma lmao. also sorry for shitty english, i really didn't feel like bothering with writing nice and tidy, if someone read this far. x(
#tw dog attack#i have to let it out#my anxiety is acting up in waves like never before#a rare personal post appeared

4 February 2024 - I woke up in Piha around 9 am. Elise made some poached eggs on toast for Laura and me. Jordan and Lydia left, and Wilson and I stuck around for a while. We talked about canyoning, canyons in the South Island, and looked out at Piha Beach from Elise's front porch. The waves were HUGE! Apparently, the winds yesterday were over 50 km/h, and the waves at Piha Beach were up to 7m tall! The winds were still strong today, and the waves were still HUGE. Around 1pm, we left Elise's house. Elise and I grabbed some fresh fruit ice cream on Piha Beach before driving back to Henderson. Elise dropped me off at home.
I went to the Extravaganza Gypsy Fair with Jimmy and Maddie! Afterwards, we went to the pond to see the ducks and geese. Maddie LOVES ducks. Then we dropped Maddie off at Maddie's mom's house and headed home. At home, Taylor and Arnie were both around, and we had a BBQ with the whole house. Arnie grilled up some burgers, I grilled up some veggie brats, and we had a flatmates family dinner. Of course, we put pineapple and beetroot on the burgers, in New Zealand fashion. After dinner, I showed my flatmates the GoPro video footage I'd taken during our canyon mission the day before in Tunakahoia Canyon on the Coromandel Peninsula. We had a great night!
I'm grateful to Elise for letting us stay the night at her awesome house on Piha Beach. I'm grateful to Elise for breakfast and for driving me home. I'm grateful for delicious fresh fruit ice cream on Piha Beach. I'm grateful to Jimmy for inviting me to come to Extravaganza Fair with him and Maddie. I'm grateful to Arnie for instigating the flatmates BBQ. I'm grateful for all of my friends in New Zealand, and I'm grateful for my awesome flatmates in Henderson. I'm grateful for an amazing weekend and for the amazing people to have spent it with.

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day (green tea.) Welcome to the weekend!
Wow! Here we are again: Friday! Where did that week go? No, seriously, where did that week go?
First of all, many thanks to everyone that got involved with Throwback Thursday on my page. Yesterday’s word was IN-LAW and the responses were superb! Lots of touching stories. As far as I can see, even in broken relationships, in-laws have a massive role to play. Kids not only want two parents, they also want two sets of grandparents, and as many great-grandparents as they can get!
Yesterday morning, I was up at 6.00, posted my status, then went into the front room for a few more minutes’ sleep. Christ, almighty! When I woke up, it was 10.00! What is my body telling me? “Alright, you old bastard, you can work mad hours if you want but make sure you get some proper kip!” My body is always right. Best to obey your body. Does your body talk to you too? I bet it does! What does it say? It’s alright, I can guess!
Really hope you can join me tomorrow at 1.00 p.m. for ‘The A-Z Of Mi-Soul Music’: The Letter N (Pt. 4). There will be no rum punch in the studio to spin my brain! Having said that, last week at Summer Soulstice was good vibes from top to bottom! Next week is The Letter O (Pt. 1) with our executive producer Matt Louis, who has built a killer show.
Straight after the show tomorrow, we are off to a swish BBQ, where the food and drink will be Grade A and there will be some exceedingly beautiful people! On Thursday evening, The Trouble said to me, “Oh, last minute, we’ve got a birthday invitation on Sunday afternoon!” That is bloody last minute! Oh, well. If I must! The mum is a caterer, so I am guaranteed some delicious Sunday scran!
Have a fabulous and funky Friday! I love you all. You’re probably thinking, “You don’t even know me!” but, if people can hate for no reason, why can’t I love?

J solved the problem of me being uninterested in setting the yard up by inviting the neighbours for a BBQ dinner out back tonight. Guess that's one way of motivating me. Heh. It's all good.
So it's getting cleaned up and laid out. Hopefully I get the grill running after a long winter… and that I manage not to get a sunburn this afternoon.
(We've given them a key and told them to feel free to use the space, but they haven't in the year they've been here. I hope maybe they'll feel comfortable doing so if they want to, after this. )
We spent the day out yesterday playing games with friends, so this is 2 days in a row of social interaction. LOL whut. I will be out of social points tomorrow, for sure, but that's fine. The weather yesterday was very cool and wet, so my bones would like to escape the human suit - I will not have a problem just hanging around in bed tomorrow!

you do not gate keep horror
Keeping things age appropriate for kids, gore appropriate to people's sensibilities yes, but everyone has the right to horror.
Anything else I have to explain this morning to people who should be past the psychological threshold that other people might think differently than they do? Everyone cool with the idea of that and how getting out of the crab bucket and exposing yourself to a bigger and more varied world can make you a better person?
I've always wanted a Hawaiian shirt, I have a t-shirt that says Weird and a small accordion, I might just have to go buy one now.
What? Were you not invited to the Let's Watch the Oldest View and Scare the Bejesus out of Wendigoon party and you're salty about it?
And speaking of thalassophobia might I suggest having some friends over and watching an EV Nautilus dive? They're the science s ROV geeks who squeed over the googly eyed squid and called a gulper eel a Muppet. You have to yell "squat lobster!" back every time they see one and take a drink (if you do) whenever they find something purple and/or slorp.
***
Project wise I think I'm about half way thru the cutting of fabric patches.
On closer look the Unoa Lusis decided she doesn't want clothes made form the BBQ fabric. The line is literally called "Bar-B-Que" by Nancy J Smith and Lydia S Milligan for Possibilities. I found a partial selvedge and it will go in my tornado of thought book. It is adorable and worth looking in to.
I had to remind myself of the original intention of the patch project which was to clear out the stash and scraps and with some exceptions if the dolls wanted clothes out of anything in the No Two Patches the Same quilt they could have said so at any time.
Just bought a more agreeable boarder print yesterday, and I need two more patches to complete it. I have decided it will be plenty big enough, about full size, and it's time to finish it. All I want is the right variegated thread to do some of the boarder quilting with. Might consider the embroidery floss on a spool.

They lead to shit outcomes
Me: This article [about Chelsea being interested in Enzo Maresca and Kieran McKenna] needs a Poch WHO? gif.
Brother: I think this is who we hire. It's either him or De Zerbi. The stories that we are leaking basically point to what people say McKenna's strengths are. I've never even heard of this dude until yesterday, but I think Clearlake is telegraphing it.
Me: Yeah, they're definitely briefing now, because they're now leaking all these stories about what was wrong with Poch, while at the same time putting the name out there. Maybe stop being so damn obvious. I bet the real reason is that Poch never invited them to the BBQs.
Brother: One of the last things Poch did was have a good dinner with Mr. Todd. Mr. Todd's dinners must be good food, but they always lead to shit outcomes.
Me: Maybe it was only a good dinner, but not a good meal. Also I wonder if it was BBQ.

Mon, October 1st: I wanted to write about yesterday, but I got so caught up in hanging out with my friends that I forgot to write in my diary. It was an interesting day for me.
In the morning, my Korean friend woke me up with a call, inviting me to have lunch outside. After quickly getting ready, I headed to school, excited for the beautiful day ahead. We strolled through the streets, searching for something to eat, and eventually, we settled on a Chinese restaurant. Instead of going for the restaurant's signature dishes, we decided on two trays of dim sum. My friend had a hearty appetite, but I could barely finish mine.
Afterward, we pondered what to do next and ended up going hiking on the mountain behind our university. After nearly two hours of climbing, we returned to the laboratory and invited our Vietnamese friend to join us for karaoke. It was a day filled with enjoyment. We had BBQ at a restaurant and went bowling. This was my first time playing bowling, and I was really excited. It will be an unforgettable memory because I got injured, and there was some bleeding. However, I'll cherish these memories year after year.

visits
labor day weekend was okay. i of course had FOMO as my weekend was spent mostly alone. i'm doing more walking around the neighborhood and checking out local shops. i read and really enjoyed checking out the local barnes and nobles for reading inspiration. however, i would say this week is one of the most social weeks i've had here in a while (or ever).
T joined us for dinner last thursday. he's talkative and easy to get along with. on friday morning, he invited me to go to chinatown for this chang fen's lady retirement farewell. the line ended up being 2 hours long (i left after 40 min but T stayed). it was interesting to see tiktok videos being filmed in person for this event, and i got to see potluck club restaurant owners in person as well. T was nice enough to drop off some changfen at my door after he waited for 2 hours lol.
friday was my official first day of my new role. nothing really has changed so far, besides me having issues submitting my biweekly timesheet lol. it was the friday before a long weekend. since my role is new too, i imagine it'll take some time to get things going.
R arrived to NYC sunday morning, and they stopped by my apartment on labor day for a bit. they're mostly running around trying to get their apartment in place. their apartment is about 40-50 min away from us, so i don't imagine us seeing each other TOO often. though they did mention claiming me for thanksgiving and christmas since matt will be working. i also suggested that we use the bbq grills that our building provides (that we never used). i didn't really hang out with R when we were in LA, so let's see how our dynamics play out here. however, i do feel happy to have another friend here - she feels more like distant family/ a cousin to me.
it'll also be interesting to see how another LA couple assimilates to the NYC life. in this case, i feel like we're the older bro/sis. i've been trying to share what i know and refer helpful apps to them.
S got wrist surgery today, and she wanted to stop by yesterday. i had 3 visitors in one week, which is a record! lol. it was really nice to see her.
tomorrow, matt and i are headed to boston to visit K. we may even meet her bf M. i hope the socializing goes well! if so, then perhaps we can eventually have a friends trip with some people on the east coast.
later this month, G will be visiting and i'm excited for that. then i'll be flying back for B&F's wedding. overall, quite a socially busy month!
