#magicalgrimm #ask me #there’s a later season episode (post spike getting wings) that Tulli and I could not finish because it was so awful #where rarity’s feeling lonely without spike who’s grown up and moved on from his crush on her #so she gets extremely clingy and manipulatey to get this. teenage boy to pay attention and worship her again #and rarity gets visibly jealous of spike spending time with another teenage dragon girl #it’s extremely extremely creepy. by FAR rarity’s absolute worst rock bottom moment #actual textbook groomer behavior #and even worse the episode kinda shits on rarijack where rarity tried to replace spike with applejack in helping her #but aj fails and fucks things up and isn’t right for the job. so the episode implies spike is a better match with rarity than applejack #it’s just all sorts of wrong eugh.#sparity just sucks so bad I can’t believe a good chunk of bronies still ship them or consider them a viable ship #I’m fine with spike having a kid crush on rarity it happens with kids #but the more the writers just kept teasing and toying and baiting it. overstayed its welcome #especially because they have no chemistry. spike doesn’t have a reason for liking rarity other than “hot woman in her mid-20s’

I don't know why but I find these brief profiles for the love angels in Shougaku Ichinensei 11/1994 really cute. Illustrations above by Kirishima Sent.

Wedding Peach / Hanasaki Momoko

Born March 3rd. Blood type 0. Cheerful, but a little clumsy… A girl with angelic blood who fights devils using the power of love.

Angel Lily / Tanima Yuri

Born July 7th. Blood type A. Gentle, good at fortune telling. A girl with angelic blood who fights devils using the power of intelligence.

Angel Daisy / Tamano Hinagiku

Born May 5th. Blood type B. Tomboyish, good at fighting. A girl with angelic blood who fights devils using the power of courage.

While the girls are still described as angels, their profiles state that they each combat the devils using different "powers". Love for Peach, intelligence and courage for Lily and Daisy respectively.

I also find it interesting that Yuri is described as having a talent for fortune-telling in this profile. In the Secret File art book section discussing the original setting ideas for the series, Hinagiku was planned to have precognition/clairvoyance talents. However, none of the heroines retained this as a primary character trait in the finalised anime or Ciao manga (save for Yuri suggesting the missing bride's location in episode 9 of the anime).

While courage stayed as a core element of Daisy's power and persona in both anime and manga (Hinagiku performs her oironaoshi by calling "Angel Courage Daisy"), Lily's intelligence didn't become amalgamated in the same way. Interestingly though, the hint at psychic ability did remain in the oironaoshi call "Angel Prescience Lily".

This is what I love love love about older media mix titles like Wedding Peach. There are just so many changes across the different adaptations that I'm still finding out new things as I gain access to various old magazines (which is hard because ugh, they're SO expensive). And there really are a lot of different versions of the Wedding Peach story to read in print alone:

If I had a bunch of spare cash on hand right now for fandom purposes I'd be buying more magazines to scan/share and paying someone to do a proper translation of the Secret File book (because I really can't get the nuance right with the interviews). Oh well, I can dream!

Sometimes I just start thinking about this moment - paired with Maddie's "I just think that maybe you're not sure of your own feelings yet. And if there's something that you need to tell Eddie, you will. Just, in your own time" - and then don't stop thinking about it.

Maybe I'm just reading into it but the way this moment moves. Eddie steps forward, Tommy steps up to exactly where Eddie was, Buck turns to look where Eddie was, doesn't find what he was looking for but still finds something good. It's not just ep 4 and 5 where the focus on Eddie blows me away, it's also this.

#i also have a lot of feelings about how interesting tommy is as a choice for this entire storyline #during both chim and hen begins he stand-in for the old guard and the barrier they both face #during bobby begins again he's a united front with chim and hen in a desire for actual change #and sal's firing is a sign of tommy's change too - sal refused to change and couldn't stay. tommy stayed until he left himself #and he needed to leave - needed something new - to finally accept himself and his sexuality #tommy's return to me - especially with the shift to the new network and everything surrounding that -#has always felt to me like an acknowledgement that things can change #the change in him from the old guard to an entirely different person always felt so significant to me #and this feels really significant too #that buck and his search for happiness throughout the last season has only one constant - the 118 #tommy can offer a change to buck without affecting that stability #the way tommy talks about himself on the date feels like an acknowledgement of all of that #and this moment and maddie's intervention feel like an acknowledgement of something else entirely #and i may be a buddie girl but i'm thoroughly enjoying this ride (hopefully buck is too)#because i'm doing what maddie did - 'you'll tell eddie what you need to in your own time. tell me about the hot pilot'#because he wasn't unhappy to see hot pilot there instead. hot pilot good.#anyway look at this shot and tell me you don't see what i'm seeing #there was a lot of visual storytelling throughout this season i love it so much #911 #911 abc #911 fox #9-1-1 #911 meta #evan buckley #eddie diaz #tommy kinard #another fandom same old tag rambles

finally watched happiest season and i totally understand why people hated the ending.

except for Jane. she deserves the world.

I know that this brainfart is like a "well fucking duh" moment given that Barrett wilbert weed originated both musical Veronica and Janis, but like,,,auli'i cravalho could make for a good musical movie veronica and I mean that genuinely
