The View From Halfway Down is so cute from a Boherb lens (whether it be platonic or romantic) because the two possible options are that either the afterlife does exist and Herb has forgiven him or Bojack is creating a scenario in his head where he and Herb are close again.

I want to feel sorry for tradwives but also. White women.
There is definitely discussions to be had around trads and white supremacy, especially since incredibly prominent trad influencers + known groups are often ones centred around the idea of a “white replacement theory” and other incredibly deranged concepts.
HOWEVER I have also had this a lot, and I’m wondering if this is also a regional thing/association thing but: P is not white. Many actual tradwives that I’ve met (and I use that to differentiate from the influencers) are not white.
This could be the result of a couple different things I think: high profile influencers in that sphere fitting he profile I mentioned above, what people regionally consider to be a tradwife (for example, I find Americans tend to think of tradwives as middle to upper middle class, white and Mormon)…probably other social assumptions/experiences at work here. While the idea of white supremacy is rampant in many groups that push tradwifery, there are definitely also many groups that don’t fit this profile, which I think adds a whole other layer of complication.

we all kind of seem to agree that ponyboy got his creativity and artistic talent from his mother and I’m going to see that and raise you that he got his love for movies from his father, who made every effort to take ponyboy to the movies whenever he could afford it

Disclaimer for everyone: I need to avoid a lot of the unhelpful noise about recent events so I’m not going to be online for more than a couple minutes at a time here and there for several days.
My main priority with political and world event topics is the hard and careful discussions about them I have with specific people I have ongoing inroads with who are still in high control situations. I don’t have time and energy to engage with anyone about leftist moral superiority and bickering. Full stop. I’m donating money I can spare and I’m actively and constantly working with people still in the same high-control/cult groups I came out of.
Don’t come into my inbox again with more claims I’m supporting evil by not trying to bring about an immediate revolution against colonialism and capitalism while I’m just trying to keep some people alive and critically thinking long enough to get out of high control groups and actually vote, volunteer, and change policy. I hear you. I understand your anger. I’m not your real target though. Please focus somewhere else.
Thank you.

i have to say any time i see a production of a theatre work (PARTICULARLY opera but tbh it can be anything) that’s labeled “the feminist version” of it i always kind of recoil from it a wee bit because i’ve associated that particular phrasing with poor-taste productions that make often exploitative and surface-level points instead of, you know, “endowing the women characters with personality and depth” or “working with what is already there to create a multifaceted and interesting performance”. like oh you’re making “the feminist version” of this show? you show graphic depictions of onstage physical and sexual violence towards women (that usually weren’t in the text to begin with) and disregard the well being of your actors and audience in order to show Woman Are Victims And Men Are Evil? you make the character a -strong female character- by giving her a gun and/or only showcasing “weakness” when you can use it in conjunction with brutal onstage violence? and yet you do not give the women any actual interesting personalities or emotions that could be extrapolated from the text? ok cool or whatever. you will never be that one production of oklahoma sorry

Not to yap on the internet (I.e ramble for several paragraphs incoherently), but Ive been rewatching Paper Girls recently and subsequently thinking how important it is to have queer relationships at age appropriate level(s) for tweens and teens. While there were queer relationships on TV while I was growing up in the 2000s and 2010s, they were never really around my age bracket and really none that discussed how they came to terms with their sexuality, although that’s a slightly different discussion. Sure, there were shows like Glee that featured relationships that resonated with me and storylines that resonated with me that either were queer or queer coded (@Quinn Fabray). But I was too young to fully grasp the full story, and I think that’s the case for a lot of kids; especially in that middle school age bracket.
Even watching as an adult, I can recognize a lot of my younger self in KJ and Mac. I didn’t like to wear dresses or skirts, but were forced into them by my parents as it was the socially acceptable thing to wear for a young girl. I had traditionally masculine interests and in childhood a lot of my clothes were boys shirts that my parents were willing to deem as gender neutral. I knew I didn’t like boys, and didn’t understand the whole crush phase my friends had, but regularly thought things like “well if we were dating I’d do that better or different”. I knew that I was different from friends, but didn’t have any real reference to point to help kind of use as a reference point, so I just assumed I was a late bloomer and it’s come eventually and I’d be in to clothes or makeup and like boys in the way my friends did but it never did. Sure, by the time high school rolled around I knew that there was a strong possibility that I was gay (it’s really quite embarrassing the amount of indicators I tried to explain away), I saw more of myself in shows like Glee that featured queer relationships, but still starting that conversation earlier through media and having examples of characters that were like me probably would’ve saved me some mental anguish and stress in my teen and young adult years.
Kids have “romantic” (and I use that term very loosely) feelings at a pretty young age for the opposite gender and not. There’s plenty of media out there that explores young relationships between two straight teenagers, and way too many episodes of tv I watched growing up had episodes that strictly focused on a girl who was in her “boy-crazy” era. Having storylines that parallel the stage they are at in life, is going to help a ton of kids out in the long run, and also I think help some parents come to terms with queer kids. Ultimately the more you normalize something, the more people will probably come to accept it and stop looking at it as an “other”.
Anyway, this is my long-winded way of saying that Paper Girls made me very emotional on my rewatch and young queer kids get to see themselves reflected in media in a way that mirrors their current experiences (especially young girls, because wlw are definitely not featured as relationships between men/boys). Watching a bunch of teen girls didn’t make me straight and stop me from having recurring dreams about kissing and being in relationships with girls, and it’s not going to stop future kids either.

I knew I didn't like TS/Swifites when last year, they were trying to say one of her songs was about Zac Efron and harassing him ya know, after he came out about his anxiety and addiction issues. It's why I could never get behind that Jake hate train since the worst thing he did was break up with her. If people want to harp on age gap, then ask Taylor why she dated minors when she was 21/22
