As I’m sure you’ve guessed, Feligami February is a month-long fandom event dedicated to our favourite lovebirds. The principle is simple: to tickle your brains (and hearts!) with our prompts, so you are inspired to create the content you want to see on Tumblr on AO3.

Any and all creative media are welcome: art, fics, AMVs, playlists, cosplays, moodboards, web weaves… No rules and no amoks shall get in your way.

2. Sounds fun! How do I join?

Simply upload your creation(s) to the #feligami february and #feligami february 2024 tags, and make sure to tag this blog. This will ensure we spot your work, as easily as Felix spotted the Peacock Miraculous under Gabriel’s tie.

3. I’m not sure I can cover all 29 prompts, or post on time. Can I still participate?

Of course! The entire point of this event is to have fun. Don’t overwork yourself.

4. I have an idea, but it doesn’t align with any of the prompts. Can I still post it?

5. Are poly ships allowed?

Easter Eggs - In the Dirt Chapter 3

Okay. I have so many of these that I threw in for funsies. I had to have something to keep myself entertained while PVP-ing writer's block for six months xD I'll post my favorites first, just since the list is kind of ridiculously long, lol.

First: the entire funeral section of the chapter is written with the same structure as the first chunk of chapter one. >:) ("Sticky counters under fingertips. The sharp tang of sweat and alcohol..." -> "The stifling scent of artificially perfumed flowers. A dusty Princeton funeral home...")

Now for narration and dialogue. Unless stated otherwise these are just meant to be parallels/nods that we the readers see, not that the characters are explicitly referring to within the story.

"I'm going to die. What difference does it make if it's when I'm still young and healthy, or if it's five years from now when I've lost the ability to walk? To talk?”: This one is meant to be a tonal parallel to Thirteen and House's argument in You Don't Want to Know. ("I might die. So could you, you could get hit by a bus tomorrow. The only difference is you don't have to know about it today, so why should I?")

"Oh, grow up.” House snarls, so sharply that Thirteen feels herself flinch. “It's the same for all of us. Everybody dies. You know damn well that none of us get to do it with any dignity.”: HNNNNFHFSDF this is my favorite one. On my part, it's a reference to both Pilot ("You can live with dignity; we can't die with it") and House's angry, grieving outburst to Thirteen in Dying Changes Everything. ("People die! You, Amber, everyone. Don't act like you just figured that out.") Within the story, House only intended it to be a callback to the latter.

"You'd rather die than let anyone see the real you, because you think you're weak. You think you're pathetic.”: OOSHGSDF THIS IS MY OTHER FAVORITE. Okay. This was meant to be a parallel to my 7x18/5x08 web weave. Specifically House's dialogue with Sophia in Emancipation ("You need people to see how independent you are, how well you're coping. So they won't see the lost, hurt little girl.") (The other parallel to the web weave that I threw in there was Thirteen's later thought of House... what did you do?)

Before you start yelling at me– They're heading down a two-lane road, passing field after field under a dizzyingly wide blue sky, and Thirteen's vision fills with green-green-green– I'm doing this because I care about you.: When I first set up this connection when I was outlining the chapter, I almost fuckin' screamed. BIRTHMARKS. BIRTHMARKS!!!!!!!!! ("I am not doing this because I care.") I drove myself fucking insane with this one. I could write a whole ass post about the parallels between this chapter and parts of Birthmarks, but I think a lot of it will probably end up getting sprinkled into House's POV. (Edit to add: and the drugs. that was ALSO an intentional birthmarks reference. Idk how I forgor the drugs😭)

The rest are under the cut if anyone is curious!

Thirteen asking Foreman "Are you... okay?" at the beginning of their phone call: This was meant to parallel the moment in The Dig when Thirteen asks House the same thing, immediately after finding out that he and Cuddy had been dating but broke up.

“You had me worried for a second there. I thought you were about to show up at my apartment with a dead body or a stab wound.”: A nod to Darrien going to Thirteen for help in After Hours.

"I'm sorry." "Hey, no, don't do that.": Parallel to Remorse, when Foreman apologizes for firing Thirteen in the middle of their argument, and Thirteen snaps, "Don't do that! That's not what this is about!"

"What, did he finally break parole and get arrested or something?": Parallel to an exchange between House and Thirteen in The Dig about Lucas ("You could have at least hired Cuddy's weird boyfriend." "Lucas?" "Mmm-hmm." "You don't know?" "What, is he dead or something?"). Except with the horrible irony of: this time, someone actually is dead. Or something.

“I’m trying... to say that he’s gone. House is gone.” “Excuse me?”: Meant to be a thematic mirror image of a moment between Foreman and Thirteen in The Softer Side ("Do you miss sleeping with women?" "Excuse me?"). Tone-wise and context wise, they are complete opposites. But both times Thirteen reacts to the shock by asking for clarification (because clearly, to her, what she just heard can't possibly be what Foreman intended to say.)

"We've gotta be realistic. He's attempted before.” “Yeah, four years ago!": Reference to House quite literally killing himself (for less than two minutes) via electrocution in 97 Seconds.

"Why the hell did you just give up? What happened to 'killing yourself is never the answer?'”: House is referencing what Thirteen tells their patient in The Softer Side ("No matter how bad things get, killing yourself is never the answer"). He didn't mean it as a reference to Kutner, but it triggers memories for Thirteen of Kutner's suicide.

His words hit her like a sucker punch as memories of a different person– a different time and place, blood coated over her hands and face, cold and thick and copper-crisp– flash before her mind's eye.: Thirteen remembering the moment they discovered Kutner in Simple Explanation. (Also occurs at the end of the chapter when she feels "someone else's blood that drips from her face")

House's jaw drops.  “Charity case?” he demands, incredulous. “After everything I've done, you think that's what this is? A charity case?": lol this was just a nod to the title of the 'House fires Thirteen so she can be happy' episode being Charity Case. Something something House has never seen Thirteen as a charity case something something Thirteen tries to say he does so she can deny emotional involvement/connection.

She'd written out a little speech. Something about spud guns and lesbian bars and the number thirteen...: In-story reference to the events of The Dig and The Choice

Chase's easy grin, Eric's warm hand around her own: Thirteen remembering Last Temptation (Chase grinning and hugging Thirteen when he sees her again for the first time) and Simple Explanation (Thirteen and Foreman holding hands as they watch Kutner's funeral procession)

The cool metal of a spud gun beneath her fingers and House's hand over hers, steadying: That one screen cap from The Dig where Thirteen's aiming the spud gun and House looks like he's supporting her/guiding her through it. Thirteen is remembering that moment.

Finally starting to get stable.

It’s funny how I let everything get so out of hand. K is a sweet, messed up kid. I fell for her hard and I don’t regret that. She needs and deserves unconditional love, imo.

I won’t judge myself here and take on all the blame. And I won’t assign it all to her or say she had none - as I was doing for so long.

We both created a super unhealthy dynamic to escape some problems.

I feel in many ways I was good for her. And I know in many ways she was good for me.

I wish it didn’t end the way it did and I hope she’s gotten the help she needs to get past the trauma. I know how easy it is to escape in booze and drugs. It’s not a great choice though. She’s strong as fuck. She’s a survivor. She will get there.

It’s so dumb of me to be suffering still. I miss her horribly. Less each day but there’s always that thought … wondering about her and hoping she’s executing on a better plan than what she had.

Early on, I knew it was just meant to be a fun time and escapism for both of us. I fell in love with her so fast. My own trauma at play very likely.

I responded to her pain and it activated my most nurturing side … and that part of me went crazy, weaving an emotional and spiritual web between us.

Then I fell further in love. Despite our age gap and other roadblocks, I *wanted* her. I wanted to be with her. But I was either too stupid or too smart - and I didn’t tell her how bad it was for me.

I … I so badly wanted to be with her and was so deeply ashamed for that desire. God, the fear I had over her rejecting me. lol and then she did anyway. Haha. There’s some lesson there to be had.

whatever. Speaking in the wind here. Idgaf. Anyone who followed this blog late last year and earlier this year has the plot. I deleted the most embarrassing posts. But it’s still there.

I won’t shame myself here for what I felt. What I felt for her was deep, real, and unconditional. I still love her. I still miss her. I still want her best. I’m just not as insane as I was about it. I’m glad she’s with someone a lot closer in age. There are other things I’m not pleased with.

but she’s not my daughter. She’s not my anything. She’s her own person. And I was proud of what she made of her life while we were together. She is capable and destined for greatness.

hope she doesn’t let her internal monologue or any one else - especially the words of her dickhead dad - hold her back from soaring.

2. Well, here’s the punchline

What would you like Kate to improve regarding her work?

What wouldn't I like her to improve would be more apt! But in all seriousness, I've split my answer into parts and it might will be long. TLDR: I want her to do more work, on a more regular basis, and cover it better

1. The amount - Catherine Elizabeth does not work enough. So far, I have her at 93 engagements this year (with another 3 confirmed). At the end of September, she was working at a rate of 9.77 engagements per month. If we extrapolate that to the end of the year, she'll have done around 117 engagements, which means - on average - she will have done one engagement every 3 days this year. One engagement is not necessarily very long. I would expect her to be working at around 200 engagements a year MINIMUM. I've given her a slight leeway for the past two years due to Covid, but there is no reason why she couldn't have done more a single engagement in the TWO MONTHS she took off over the summer.

Moreover, I've always said that if she worked 3 afternoons a week (private school term time), she'd do 111 engagements and still allow for holidays off. This would also help it look like she works more regularly, rather than doing 3 engagements in one day and nothing for a week. Add in tours and away days (which are always more engagement heavy) and bring in some more behind the scenes meetings she could literally do in her own house, and she'd hit 200 engagements easily. If I had my way, she would work the equivalent of one engagement per weekday every week of term time, if not more, but I'm being realistic.

2. The range - don't get me wrong, I love the way Catherine and Catherine worked to weave this tapestry of engagements, all leading back to the Early Years. We had hospice care and addiction and mental health, and how the outdoors and space supports positive mental health, and then we had young people's mental health, and now we have the early years. But looking ahead, when the Queen and Charles are dead and the working royals are Will, Kate, Edward, Sophie, and maybe George, Kate can't just focus on the early years (Will also can't just focus on football or conservation but that's another day).

At the moment, Kate's got a number of interwoven branches - the Air Cadets are the least interlinked, followed by culture, the outdoors, sports, addiction, children and mental health. Where is my textiles patronage? But seriously, if you look at the older royals, they have what-I-like-to-call boring patronages, like Patron of Lighthouses and Patron of Tartan and Patron of Sheep (it is highly unlikely any of them are real but you get the vibes). That's what my girl needs - have her intricate web of Early Years, with a few little branches sneaking off, and then also the outliers, like being Patron of Steam Trains

3. The coverage - being a royal is about appearances and as great as it is that Kate does work, it all but means nothing if no one knows she's doing it. I'm not about to go on a rant about KP's social media but there should be some hard and fast rules, like if Kate does an engagement, it is posted on Twitter and Instagram. The post should include information like "who is the engagement for" and "why is she there" and "how to learn more". I would also like to go back to the days when we could get pre-announced engagements please and thanks.

I also would like for KP to be more consistent when it comes to court circular updates. Last Tuesday, Kate did 5 engagements, 4 of which were meetings. The previous Wednesday, she went to Ireland for a day and only counted that as 2 engagements - which is fine and probably right, but if that's 2, Tuesday's engagement count should also have been 2 (UCL and Meetings). Either they need to pick out every single different engagement or they generalise, not both

4. The consistency - am I talking about work rate? Public relations? Social media use? All 3? Who knows? Kate does not work consistently. She does 5 engagements one day and nothing for a week. That one day is great but the rest of the time is me getting frustrated and actually being pretty disppointed that someone hasn't decided to turn up.

Last year, we got around 6 photos for Louis' birthday, 5 for Charlotte, 2 for George, plus 2 appearances for the NHS clapping, photos from Charles, new photos for Mothers Day and Fathers Day, a new photo for Kate's birthday and a new photo for William's. This year we got 1 photo each for the kids birthdays, "new" photos for Mothers and Fathers Day (a photo of Kate's childhood, a cake, some cards, and blurry photos of William), 2 new anniversary photos, and one anniversary video. Show me the consistency. Make a rule - release two photos the evening before a birthday and a third at tea time on the birthday itself. Release photos for the adults "big" birthdays. Release one old and one new photo for Mothers Day etc. This post (x) goes on a bit but I spoke a little about my opinion on their approach to PR there.

I LOVE HIM, HE'S COMPLEX AND HE CARES AND JON CARES AND THEY BOTH CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER. THIS IS THE CONTENT I WANT, OMG. Also, Jon being even smaller than usual is adorable, so cute. 1. Supernatural creatures exist, and most of them will hurt innocent civilians if he doesn't stop them; 2. He has abilities that no human hunter should have, but he knows enough about human hunters to keep that to himself, and finally; 3. He keeps running into another hunter named Dean Winchester, who seems to be about as lonely as he is if he's willing to put up with those former facts long enough to help Cas unravel the mystery of who (or what) he really is.

For his part, Dean's still (not) dealing with Sam's departure to Stanford, and figures distracting himself with a bit of mystery and intrigue is as harmless as it gets, right? Right.

(THE fic I'm most into right now, been following this from the very start and it's AMAZING. Cas has agency and is making friends and S1 Dean is growing out of John's influence and is becoming a Person and the both of them first being friends then more. The slow burn as their relationship develops, SO GOOD. SO SO DAMN GOOD. *screams* Seriously one of the best spn fics I've read in a long, long time.)

(The fact one of the tags in this fic is, "Sibling Dynamic: Fucked Up But Wholesome" should give you an idea what this fic is like. Chaotic as HELL and I just love Azula here, she loves Zuko so much in her messed up way and Zuko loves her back in the exact same way lol. It's batshit and I am Here For This.)

Also, Kakashi is so Chaotic here this is my fave characterization of him, you can't change my mind. And Genma is a Good Boi who is Doing His Best, along with the Self-insert character who I LOVE SO MUCH, SHE'S FANTASTIC FNEIWOPAF. Sped past this fic in the speed of light, I could not stop reading!)(Honestly, read all of the author's fics, they're all really REALLY good!)

Building a Castle by WhisperingDarkness

Without needing anyone to tell her, Sakura knew that talking to someone no-one else could see or hear would make her weird. It would draw the bad kind of attention to her, something people could make fun of her for.

She didn’t like being weird, but she did like the voice. Her inner voice was helpful and it was a part of her that had always been there. The idea of it not being there would have been so much weirder than anything else.

It was during her first year at the Academy that Sakura realised the voice was not in her head at all, but that it came from a cloudy shape floating next to her.

(Basically a short-ish retelling of Hikaru no Go. Only with more Shogi and Nara and Ninja's)

(Sakura can see ghosts (I'm noticing this is a popular trope for her) and it's really cute haha! Her relationship with Tobirama is sweet and I just enjoyed reading this so much.)

It explores so much of what could've happened and I just love Quentin here, I really really do. Characterization done so right. I also recommend the author's other works too. Been a follower of them for a long time, they're great.)

Hey! I literally love your last post so much but I'm confused about the rebels bit (never watched it). How does Rebels criticize the jedi? Thanks!

Aw, thank you! (Lol, this is such an old ask I don’t remember what that post was, but here goes).

Well in s2 Ahsoka, Kanan (a survivor from Order 66) and Ezra (his Padawan) all go to an old Jedi Temple to talk to Yoda about Vader and his Inquisitors (Darksiders who hunt the few remaining Jedi and kidnap Force sensitive kids). Yoda is only there spiritually and the three of them get different visions. Ahsoka sees Anakin as Vader, and Kanan has to fight several enemies and eventually admit he can't protect his Padawan from the world, only guide him (which prompts the vision to finally make him a Jedi Knight, as he survived Order 66 as a Padawan.)

And Ezra... Ugh. Ezra had a previous encounter with Yoda, in which he got his lightsaber crystal. Basically Yoda asked him why he wanted to be a Jedi, and Ezra had to do some self-examination and eventually realized that helping and protecting people made him feel alive, which greatly pleased Yoda who told him he might become a Jedi after all. That's a really great exchange and I love the character development Ezra gets, as he starts by saying he wants never to feel powerless and eventually realizes that's not the right answer.

But in this second encounter, as Ezra asks how they can defeat the Inquisitors, Yoda basically says that fighting is rarely the right path. And to illustrate that, he says that line about the Jedi being arrogant and joining the war swiftly "in their arrogance," which really bothers me. He also says they were "consumed by the Dark Side", which is why they're now gone. In all fairness, he also mentions that they were motivated by fear, which is partially true. 

Now, I write analyses and I try to be intellectually honest about them, because ignoring contradicting stuff weakens your argument instead of helping you. Except this time, I really can't accept this quote. I have an excuse, Lucas wasn't involved in Rebels so it's not the highest canon in my opinion (the 6 movies + TCW are, here are the quotes justifying my position), and I feel like that assertion is out of character for Yoda, ignoring his ST ghost appearances, and also plainly factually incorrect.

I understand that Ezra really needed to be taught not to always seek to fight. At this point, he's still an emotional kid who occasionally struggles with the Dark Side. Not fighting is important to a Jedi's path, so I can understand Yoda's intention. But the example he uses? According to Lucas, the Jedi were drafted in the war. That's not jumping into a conflict out of arrogance, that's literally being dragged there against your will. And sure, there’s Geonosis, but how exactly is rescuing a bunch of your people that’s getting slaughtered by a Sith Lord the same thing as arrogantly jumping into a fight? Like, what’s the option here? Not go, and let an innocent Senator and a bunch of Jedi be murdered?

It's like Rebels!Yoda isn't acknowledging that the war was fake and that a Sith Lord engineered it as the perfect trap (which is recurring problem in Rebels; at one point Ezra, Kanan and Rex have to fight an old Separatist tactical droid and Ezra "solves" the Clone Wars by pointing out that nobody won except the Empire, so really they were on the same side all along, and he gets praised for doing what "a bunch of Jedi, senators and Clones couldn't do," ie getting both sides to talk to each other – except wtf??? setting aside that the Jedi and Rex were aware of the war being fake by the end of it, and that the Separatists were openly led by a Sith Lord and attempted to commit genocide several times in TCW and did commit mass murder, and reduced like several worlds to slavery or starvation and were backed by the worst big corporations you could imagine, the war would NOT have ended if the two sides had tried talking it out. 1) The Senate made it illegal 2) the big corporations arranged for terrorist attacks on both sides the one time they tried to negotiate so the war would drag on and they'd get more money out of it 3) Sidious. Was. Controlling. Everything. What. The. Heck. Would. Have. Been. Accomplished. By. Negotiating.)  Plus the question of whether or not the Jedi should even fight is like... constantly raised by the Jedi during TCW, so I really can’t see it as “oh wow we didn’t even take the time to think and we got killed because of it, we really sucked.” 

Seriously, there’s this S6 quote: 

MACE: Are you sure we are taking the right path? YODA: The right path, no. The only path, yes. Designed by the Dark Lord of the Sith, this web is. For now, play his game, we must.

Like yeah, totally rushing in and being eager to fight lol. Nothing to do with being boxed in and having no alternatives. 

So yeah that's bothers me and I don't think it jibes with the rest of canon. I don't remember Yoda telling Luke (who, in the beginning, is as eager to fight as Ezra is) that the Jedi "disappeared" because of some fault of their own, or because of an eagerness to fight. (Seriously, pussyfooting around the fact that the Jedi were slaughtered grates me.) The OT never, ever, ever implies that the destruction of the Jedi Order was their fault - and unless you assume that the OT is “pro-Jedi propaganda” (*laughs in dumb youtube comments*) then I don’t see Rebels weaving it into its narrative as legitimate.

Again, choosing alternatives to fighting is a great lesson on a personal level, but it doesn't work on the scale of the Rebels/Empire conflict - or the Jedi/Sith one. Ezra should often choose not to fight because of what it'll do to his soul. The Rebels should not stop fighting because there is no cohabitation with something as evil as the Empire. Imo Yoda is always presented as wise enough to know the difference. 

The last thing that makes me think it's out of character is Yoda's spiritual journey in TCW s6. He gets all of his flaws thrown into his face and has to conquer them – he has to face his literal Dark Side and he wins. And yet at no point during that arc is he ever made to conquer his ‘Jedi arrogance’ or whatever. He has to face his worst fear (first vision, all the Jedi dying), let go of his attachments (second vision, him having to accept that he can’t live in a perfect world where everything is beautiful and no one is dead), and reaffirm who he is as a Jedi (third vision, refusing to give up on Anakin and trying to save him rather than to kill Sidious) but at no point is he ever made to recognize that wow, the Jedi are the worst for fighting. 

I’d argue that the very purpose of the visions showing him Order 66 and Anakin falling are to make him accept that these things are completely beyond his control - and as such, not his fault. He doesn’t get to fix things, because the fate of the Order is not in their own hands. It is, in fact, in Anakin’s (from a thematical/narrative standpoint). Yoda has a hard time with it (actually he almost shuts down when he first sees everybody dead and his first reaction is to say that he failed them, so I can’t accept Yoda blaming his grandkids for dying) but he accepts it in the end, when he tells Mace and Obi-Wan he’s not certain one ever wins a war, but they might still find ‘victory for all time’ (referring to balance aka Sidious’ death in RotJ). 

So anyway that’s my beef with Rebels!Yoda. Not hate on Rebels though, there are many parts of it that I really, really love - but some of them kinda infuriate me, and this is one of them.

Hello! Thank you for your question and apologies for the long wait. I have some pretty limited Tumblr time now since starting a new job but I still wanted to keep my answers extensive so yeah, I took my sweet time with this.

To answer your question, here are five adjectives I would use to Levi and Hange’s relationship.

1. Balanced: keeping or showing a balance; arranged in good proportions.

The most obvious characteristic of this ship is the fact that these two are complete opposites. Hell, no one needs to be a Levihan fan to see it.

Although they were introduced as clashing characters who couldn’t stand each other in the first season (e.g. Ilse’s notebook, post courtroom scene and the castle scenes), we eventually learn that their opposite personalities do not necessarily clash. In fact these two complement each other, particularly highlighted in Season 3 when the pair were forced  to work together, It’s pretty cool when you think about the fact that when they needed to step up, they fit into their roles way too smoothly. It was as if Levi and Hange had this silent understanding about where their skills were most needed and that they both had a specific niche to fill in the whole uprising arc. 

You can say that their personalities and quirks were arranged in such good proportions that when faced with struggle, they just fell into their cookie cutter jobs so smoothly. 

This isn’t the beautiful part of the relationship though. I would say, the fact that they maintained a strong dynamic in their relationship even while striking a safe balance is what makes it such a delectable dessert in the midst of the torturous spicy food buffet that is Attack on Titan.

Which brings me to the next adjective.

2. Dynamic: characterized by constant change, activity, or progress or positive in attitude and full of energy and new ideas.

Balanced and Dynamic are contradicting adjectives. Physics wise, when something is balanced, it doesn’t accelerate and consequently it doesn’t progress. In fact, stationary objects are the results of forces being balanced.

I mean yeah, it’s hard to explain without explaining calculus but this is a relationship not math class and  Relationships are complex things that transcend science and some philosophers have actually described relationships to be constant power struggles between both parties trying to achieve dominance until the relationship ends or someone dies.

Levi and Hange at both ends of their spectrum are dynamic human beings. You have a clean freak and you have a titan freak. You have the crazy woman who can go a week without bathing, is constantly loud and curious about the world and you have the crazy man who obsessively cleans everything, can barely express his emotions and gets so much happiness from small things like tea. You have two powerful and dynamic people, at a point in their life where they are constantly growing, faced with mortal danger and mysteries everyday. Their relationships have become a safe, stable and balanced spot for both of them yet while they are completely comfortable, their dynamic attitudes still continue to clash, and they find themselves growing in ways they would have never experienced in the battle field. They balance each other out yet, they are still in a position to still learn about each other. They balance each other out but they still progress as characters together when faced with conflict together. 

Hange and Levi are constantly in a power struggle but their struggle flows smoother than most couples because they have both mastered the art of figuring out when to give in for the other. (e.g. the bathing, the cleaning, the experimenting on Eren, the torturing, come on, they’re still really close even if their personalities drive the other crazy, you need mad conflict resolution skills and mind reading skills to make all this shit work while working together to fight a war.)

3. Powerful: having great power or strength.

They're a power couple. You have literally one of the only two characters with 11/10 stats, Hange for brains, Levi for brawns. Their skills complement and I'm pretty sure you drop them in life threatening situations and 99% of the time they'll find a way to survive, through strategy, sheer will or both.

4. Subtle: delicately complex and understated, arranged in an ingenious and elaborate way.

I have gushed about the subtleness of the relationship multiple times already but yes, let us gush once again. There are no “I love you’s.” There are no kisses so if there is any romance between them, it is definitely considered understated. We do have the elaborate web of a blooming relationship in interactions such as “dedicate your heart” and “why don’t we just live together.” We see it in the “there’s an abnormal titan right here.” 

These are small things we can argue are just playful banter but if anyone does look closely, this playful banter, this set of interactions overall, only exist between both of them. Levi has only been playfully touchy with Hange. Hange has only ever been meta about her emotions and her relationship with Levi.  Come on, like literally just imagine Hange and Levi’s interactions when they find out the other is danger, they subtly freak out.

The hints are small but there are just too many of them and they were so carefully weaved so well into the story that no one really considered their interactions to be unnatural or OOC, even for non Levihan fans.

5. Steadfast: resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering.

Levi and Hange literally experienced everything together since they met in the survey corps. They must have gone through some major conflict resolution challenges to see past their own personal pet peeves about each other and to be able to work together. 

Hange picking Levi over her post as commander when it became a question of life and death for Levi, is the culmination, and is the largest representation of how steadfast their relationship actually is and has only proved the lengths Hange would go for someone. Like Levi set the bar for how crazy Hange can be for an actual human being (not a titan.) The relationship must be pretty strong for Hange or Levi to break whatever duty they have since we all know both of them really respect Erwin. Levi and Hange  have both considered abandoning post for each other at different points of their life.

This steadfastness of the relationship could be seen as a culmination of everything else. The balanced struggle for power between too powerful beings, the subtleness of the relationship which only helped the relationship grow both slowly and naturally is what built it to be such a steadfast relationship, and naturally such a complex relationship to appreciate.

A/N: Welcome back! I hope you’re all enjoying this fic as I have many plans for it. The entire thing is written in my head I just need to get it down and I promise to post it once a chapter is complete. In this chapter reader starts to put some things together. Let’s see just how this plays out. Enter Steve Rogers. Enjoy!

You sat on the bed staring out into the space that had become your home, looking at something and nothing all at the same time. You hated this room. It was the main room of James’ home and was where normal people ate and entertained guests but not this heathen. Civility had eluded him and had no hope of finding its way back to home to its master.

 When you arrived, James had moved his bed from the other room and set up camp in here. You watched as he pieced everything together and demanded you get used to it. This bed in this room was to be your chamber of torture and he your proud captor. It doesn’t matter how many days you spend trapped in this twisted version of hell, you’ll never get used to this life or the scum enslaving you. He could fall into a pit of acid for all you cared.

 “I’m leaving,” James says as he comes from the other room and heads over to the table where his knives are kept, breaking you from your thoughts. A glance in his direction sees him in dressed in some clothing you haven’t seen that appears to be a lot nicer than usual. Hopefully he’s going to ride himself off a cliff and chose to dress up for the occasion to look decent for the people sent to retrieve the mess at the bottom. A woman can always dream, can’t she?

 “I’m leaving Steven to keep an eye on you today and Wanda will bring your lunch,” James says, his body half turned, and you can see his profile.

 “Your whore?” The words were out of your mouth before you could stop them, and you honestly didn’t care.

 James side eyes you and you can see his lips turned up in a grin. “Ahhh… so you’ve heard the talk, huh?” He looks to you, the grin now a full-on smile. “It’s a wonder you’ve heard anything. To my knowledge, you’ve never once left the house.”

 You scoff and shrug. “We all have our secrets, don’t we?”

 James clicks his tongue and nods. “That we do.” He turns his attention back to his task at hand.

 Watching him, you see him place several of his knives around his body, a few of them concealed where they can’t be seen to the naked eye. The last one he grabs is the one you know well, the one you used and failed to take his life with. His most favorite knife with the long blade and thick handle.

 James pulls it from his sheath and assess the blade, putting it up to his eye, carefully inspecting it for god knows what. Once he’s determined it’s worth, he inserts it back into its holder and makes his way over to where your sitting on the bed, holding the knife out to you.

 “Here. This is for you.”

 You look up at him, your eyes blinking in confusion. “What is this?”

 “A peace offering, for now.” He urges you to take the knife from his hand.

 “I don’t understand.”

 James rolls his eyes and sighs. “I’m leaving for the day and in these unusual circumstances I figured you’d feel a little more secure in my absence if I left you something that could offer you protection.”

 Your brows furrowed, still confused by his actions. “But isn’t that why Steven is staying? To protect me?”

 “Yes…,” James nods, “but he can’t be here every second.”

 “Why not?” You question, not buying his reasoning. “Natasha is here every second of every moment you’re gone. Why should Steven be any different?”

 “Because Steven has a village to care for in my leave and they trust him. He’ll come check on you periodically, but he cannot stay the entire time I’m gone.”

 This was so unlike James to offer this to you, so you know there’s more to this than he’s letting on. With a huff, you reach out and snatch the offered knife from his hand and set it in your lap. “Be careful, James. I’m not as daft as you think. This isn’t you showing you care because you and I both know you don’t. There’s something at play here… let’s hope for your sake the game ends and the pawns move as you’ve hoped.”

 James’ eyes go wide and you’re the one to smirk, the ass giving something away you believe he never intended. He recovers quickly and shakes his head. “I don’t know what you think you know, but I can assure you my intent is selfish and not about you but the child you’re carrying.”

 “Smart. Way to backtrack.” You grin and James turns to walk towards the door.

 “Don’t wait up for me.”

 “I’m missing you already.” The sarcasm is heavy on your tongue as you watch him leave, shutting the door behind him.

 Your eyes move to your lap and stare at the knife that’s taken up residence there. This is his most prized possession and something he wouldn’t just willingly leave but he did, and he changed things up. Did he think you were totally naïve? You’ve been here for three months, you’ve learned how to play this dangerous game. So, why? What’s the game and how will you come out the victor? Hmmm… what are you up to, James?

 “Princess.”

 You look up and see a tall blond muscles man standing in the doorway. Steven. Apparently, you were lost in thought and had no idea how much time had passed but here he was. The man that’s size rivaled James, but his face was softer, more trusting. If he wasn’t James’ right hand man, you’d find yourself in a position to confide in him but that wouldn’t or couldn’t be. You’d suffer in silence and keep the man at arm’s length. Nothing to be gained from becoming friends with this brute.

 “Steven. I’m still here, if that’s why you came.” Your tone is dry and without any sign of emotion.

 Steven chuckles and smiles, shutting the door and making his way into the room to stand in front of the bed. “I trust all is well?”

 “Why are you here?” You ask, not up for small talk or formalities.

 “To make sure you have everything you need, your highness.” Steven lowers his head, bowing to you like so many had before.

 It’s the first time since you’d been forced into this life that anyone has addressed you in this way and you're totally taken aback. His actions are very suspicious but there’s nothing that screams do not trust him. Hmmm… what piece of the game are you, Steven? A pawn or a knight? And how can I get you to show your weakness?

 “Drop the act and tell me why you’re here.” You grip the knife and unsheathe it, pointing the sharp blade in his direction, the man still bowing before you.

 The blond stands up and shakes his head. “Really? Is that any way to treat an ally?” Steven uses his hand to brush the blade out of his way and sits down on the edge of the bed. “I’m not James.”

 “Maybe not, but you're his best friend and I’d be a fool to trust you.” You raise the knife back up, holding it steady in his face.

 Steven’s eyes lock onto yours, and for the first time you’ve noticed just how beautiful the blue is staring back at you. “That blade isn’t meant for me, your highness. It really is to protect yourself.”

 At his words, you lower the blade and place it in your lap, still out of its sheath. “Why do I need protection?”

 Steven sighs and looks down, taking the knife and running his thumb across the blade. “Good… he sharpened it.” He puts the blade back in the holder and lays it down on the bed. “Because, your highness… you never know when someone might want to use James’ absence as an opportunity.”

 You furrowed your brows. “An opportunity for what?”

 Steven grins and leans in close, his lips brushing up against your ear. “An opportunity to bleed you dry,” he whispers, making you gasp in shock.

 “Don’t worry…,” Steven sits back with a grin on his face, “I’ll keep you as safe as I can but in the worst case the knife should be used to hold anyone off until I can come around.”

 You sit in silence as you study his words, the man still sitting across from you, watching your every move, which gratefully is nothing at this point. The knife is meant to protect until Steven comes and now it all makes sense. You were the pawn and Steven the knight. Guess it’s time to let the games begin.

 “Thank you, Steven.” You reach out and place a soft hand on his leg. “I’ll make sure to keep the knife close and I promise to scream loudly should any harm come my way.” You give him a genuine smile, something you haven’t given anyone since you came to this wretched hell.

 Steven glances down at the hand resting on his leg and then back up at you, his mouth turned up in a soft smile. “That’s all I can ask. Your safety is my priority.”

 “Again, thank you. Now, you should go…,” you remove your hand but never break eye contact, staring into those ocean blues, “...James is cruel and unforgiving and I’m not sure I could survive anymore of his wrath if he found out you were in here instead of out there preventing any tragedies.” You lay it on thick, hoping to gain a soft spot within the tall Viking.

 The blond nods in agreement and stands up from your bed. “As you wish, your highness.” And once again, bows and lowers his head for the second time since he arrived. “I’ll see you soon,” Steven says as he stands straight, the full extent of his muscular body on display.

 “Bye, Steven.” You smile bashfully at him.

 “Enjoy your day, Princess.” Steven finally makes his way to the door after several moments of stalling, opens it and exits, the large door closing behind him.

 You stare at the door waiting for him to come back but he never does. Good. Steven’s presence frazzled you a bit towards the end of his visit but for the most part you were able to understand enough of what treachery lies ahead. Whatever their plan it involved you, Steven and James’ knife.

 Oh, what a tangled web we weave, you thought, looking down at the knife at your side, the same one you tried to impale into the chest of the beast you share a bed with. The same one you’re positive he used when he slit your father’s throat with a laugh. It was now willingly given to you without so much as a fight or a peep of dissatisfaction, so maybe you should do what’s intended and protect yourself at all costs.

 Whoever is coming won’t find the same woman that was dragged here unwillingly, kicking and screaming along the way. No. They will be met with a much-changed Princess. One who’s new mission includes protecting the life growing inside you. Come hell or high water this child would not grow up with James’ influence. You’ll burn this village down to the ground before you let that monster shape and mold the child his seed fertilized.

Good choice, probably. Ironically enough, he is currently doing exactly what he said he wasn't going to do anymore.

My German is… fine, though I have had little cause to use it of late, but his accent was thick, and all that I could get from him was a sense of… resignation, and the insistence that his master, who I took to be Albrecht, wanted the tree dead. I’m sure that he used that word, though. Not burned, not removed, or destroyed. Dead. I resolved to ask Albrecht about it when I saw him.

What's the deal with the tree? What am I missing here?

Oh, this is definitely reminiscent of some nightmares I've had. Especially the rising volume.

He told me of a seamstress, who laced her body with fine black thread, and when she pulled it all out in a single swift motion, her skin dropped away like a loose shift. He told me of a man so scared to die he spent a year weaving a rope blindfolded, so he would not know the length, and could not foresee the moment it would tighten around his neck when he finally threw himself into the void. He told me of a fire that burns so hot and fierce that to even know about it is enough to burn a man’s tongue from his head. He told me so many terrible things.

So poor Albrecht has apparently gained Beholding powers he didn't want by taking the books out of the tomb and now he knows all these things he would really rather not know. Also: Story 2 is about the End and story 3 is obviously about the Desolation, but story 1? The Web, what with the spider-reminiscent imagery? Or something else?

I expected some stiff resistance on the subject, but Albrecht’s response seemed closer to relief than any sort of distress.

I mean, he DID literally scream at you to put them back, what did you THINK he meant?

Do I need to detail what covered his organs, his bones, the inside of his skin? What clustered together in their dozens, and all turned as one to focus on me as I opened his chest, their pupils constricting in the light, with irises of every hue and color?

Oh, that is absolutely fucking progress! The idea of being so filled with rage that you can't even cry anymore, not just for a moment but ALL THE FUCKING TIME is pretty horrifying.

Jon: It’s – hard. It’s like there’s a, a door, in my mind. A-a-and behind it is, is the entire ocean. (...) I can keep it closed. But sometimes, when I’m around p-people, or.. places, or.. ideas? A drop or two will push through the cracks at the edges of the door. And I’ll… know something. Basira: What happens if you open the door? Jon: I drown.

The idea of drowning in knowledge is perhaps a bit abstract, but I guess we see something quite like it when Jonah becomes the pupil of the Eye. Also, yet another moment of few words, massive impact.

Basira: The part where you pretend you don’t spend your whole time watching us. Elias: Sometimes I'm eating.

Pfffffft.

My impression of this episode

I barely remembered this episode, but I'm not sure why, because the statement most definitely rises at least to the level of "spooky". And the post-statement conversation of Basira and Jon does ... a lot. Mostly on the level of character and relationship development, not so much with regard to moving the plot forward, though. And then there's Basira's prison visit and now THAT is plot-important (but I did actually remember that).

they’re FAMBILYYYYY. magic found family i love them so much. show me the depths of their care for her, and hers for them, the way there’s absolutely some ice to break with yue but when he gets loyal he will DIE for you, the way sakura can mend the rift between kero and yue, the way the two of them are balancing this wonderful openness and equality with oh yeah, she’s eleven, we kind of said some seriously dark stuff in the haze of sleepover talk didn’t we?

pre-canon or mid-canon or post-canon! what’s the dynamic between them, a quiet night in, a day out telling people that you’re connected by whatever lie you find funniest. going to tomoeda and having to pretend youre a kid, a teen, and a cat, but goddd you could all go for an elegant and adult glass of wine right now (especially the cat). what horrors are lurking in that house from the clow era that no one cares to address? like emotionally and also because it’s a magic wizard house with magic stuff in it.

i am here for any and all angles of this ship- all together, your touyukis, your yuetouyas, your yuekitos if you wanna get in on a rarely seen angle! (but pls have touya and/or yukito be 18+ at a time where yue shows interest in them). i wanna see the way they interact! how they deal with, you know, the everything! pre-relationship pining, going on a date, touya and yukito in college wondering if they’ll end up having different majors, different paths for the first time. yukito seeing yue on video for the first time (OH NO HES HOT), yukito and yue figuring out internal boundaries, etc etc etc.

gou/sotsu era TOXIC LESBIAN EPIC MOMENTS!!!!!! obsession and desperation and satoko putting all her emotional eggs in rika’s basket no matter how angry she is with her, rika’s love for satoko across 100 years and how that all crumbles (to satoko) in the face of rika’s Cool School. rika wanting satoko to go to school with her so so so bad. deep pain and misunderstandings and acting badly (like, murder badly), and then, we hope, atonement and something new beginning? i love character moments where someones so obsessively in love it feels like its eating them up inside.

look, rena’s smart and really pays attention to how people feel and i think, before or after satoko becomes a looper but especially after, she would make an attempt to have a heart to heart with satoko. and satoko, as a looper, will politely brush her off, will go you dont know me you can’t affect me. youre just a chess piece. when i get to the miracle world where rika loves me, ill listen to you. this you is here to die, or to kill.
