overthinking it
#esp bc of the contrast with 10s face#who was so loud abt it#i think 12 had things most like balanced. was somewhat at peace with the cognitive dissonance of how he carried out his values#and also found maybe the best way to carry them out#13 deals with the cognitive dissonance by just i think compartmentalising like crazy?#like hard split between the doctor thats Nice and Fun and the doctor that kills#we see her try to manage the dissonance as loudly as 10 does when she Cant separate them so much#'you saw right? i gave it a chance'#10 doesnt try to separate as much i think#but then once 13 is forced to be the doctor that kills by necessity in villa diodati#after that i think she just stays on that side#she just accepts being the doctor that kills. she commands the fam like theyre soldiers. yaz like a second in command#she directs actual unit soldiers without any resistance whatsoever#like theres a kind of acceptance to it that i think shows here between them#no im wrong abt 12. there was a resignation there but no peace with it. hes a doctor of war but that doesnt mean he wants to be#he wouldve killed himself over it#so 13 KNOWS she is a doctor of war#and when people in s11 are like 'youre great i wanna be just like you' she looks ashamed bc she knows they shouldnt be#because SHE shouldnt be. but she is. and i think she just kinda gives in in the second half. stops pretending shes not#so these two also know#'name: the doctor. occupation: not a doctor'#its interesting tho bc the war doctor was like. the disowned one. the one removed from the personal history from memory#exactly like all those in the fobwatch#i think she assumes theres probably a lot of doctors in there like the war doctor#who did things that would undoctor them#occupation: not a doctor

Marathon
Orchids and Oranges: A Yasammy Week Special
Tumblr media
Yasammy week brought to you by @yasammyweek!
Sorry this one was late, I had some errands to run yesterday and an 8 hour shift early this morning. I'll try my best to catch up, but I might be a day late on my prompts.
Day 2: Firsts Rating: G/PG Summary: Sammy attends her first marathon. Fortunately, she has an expert partner to coach her along.
AO3 Version:
Tumblr Version:
"Ready for this, Sammy?" Yaz asked, reaching down to touch her toes. Her hair was done up in a tight bun, preventing any loose strands from obscuring her vision. Sammy had ditched her boots for a nice pair of pink running shoes; courtesy of her amazing girlfriend. After so long sporting boots, this experience felt foreign. It was far more practical for running at least.
Sammy quickly copied her action as Yaz continued to lead her through the stretching exercises. "Ready as I'll ever be," She smiled. This would be the first time since Nublar that she would be running such long distances. And, it was the first time Yaz had done anything akin to track since the island. Plus, it was fundraising for the local hospital in Yaz's district. All around, this would be a fun time. She was thrilled to be able to partake in an experience and hobby that was close to Yaz's heart. She just hoped she could keep up!
"Alright. You know the basics. Conserve your energy until we near the finish. When going downhill, let gravity do the work for you. It'll make your pace far easier, trust me. And don't push yourself too hard. If you need to take a break, we'll take one," Yaz listed, twisting her upper body to loosen her muscles.
"You got it!" Sammy chirped, playfully saluting her. Yaz chuckled and nudged her with her shoulder.
"Runners! To the starting line! We will begin shortly!" A man's voice crackled through a loudspeaker.
Sammy noticed the flame of competition erupt in Yaz's eyes at the announcement. She was so passionate, so confident. Oh, how she wished she had that sense of valor.
Yaz turned her attention onto Sammy and extended a hand. "Ready, cowgirl?"
"Always, track star," Sammy replied, playing up the nickname. Her fingers intertwined with Yaz's and they headed for the starting line.
Sammy's heart beat wildly in her chest as the anticipation began to build. Her first marathon! This was going to be so much fun!
She was forced to wait-- she hated waiting when she was this excited-- until the announcers dropped the welcome banner and the marathoners took off. Sammy was instantly pulled forward as Yaz shot off like a bullet. She felt like a cartoon character with the way her legs were flailing back and forth.
Yaz glanced over her shoulder and slowed her pace. "Sorry about that. Got a bit carried away," She apologized, her movements deliberate and precise.
Sammy put a bit more pep in her step and took the lead. "Don't tell me you wanna slow down! We've got competition!"
The marathon path snaked through the thinning shops of the town square and out into a lush pine forest. Miniature markers were laid out on the trail, directing them where they should go. Despite the event not being a race per se, the duo kept toward the head of the pack.
They passed by a small blossoming flower field with vibrant daisies. It took Sammy all the self-restraint in the world to not divert off the path and pick a few to give to Yaz. She'd look astonishing in a woven flower crown.
A medial incline was up ahead.
"Remember, Sammy. Let gravity do the work for you," Yaz panted, having vast control over her breathing patterns.
Sammy nodded and powered forward. By the time her and Yaz reached the top, her calves felt like they were on fire. As they descended, Sammy reserved her energy and let motion take hold. The breeze tickled her cheeks as they picked up speed. She couldn't help but laugh, causing Yaz to do the same.
The next locale was to skirt around the edges of a lake. The sand pulled at her feet, a much rougher terrain to balance on and navigate through than hardpacked dirt or concrete. And boy, cannonballing into the water was getting more and more appealing by the second. It was hot. Really hot. Why had they chosen to do this in the summer again?
Sammy wasn't sure how much time had passed when her pace began to slow. She wanted to keep up with Yaz, but her body felt like it was in the process of shutting down all together. With every gulp of air, her chest burned and her throat stung.
"Sammy? Do you need to take a break?" Yaz asked as they crested another hill. She began to slow her own pace.
Sammy shook herself. Come on, Sammy! You can do it!
Maybe she could. From the high vantage point, Sammy could spot the finish line at the bottom of the hill. Several onlookers awaited them, as well as volunteers with numerous water bottles and towels at the ready.
"We're so close. We can't stop now!" She insisted.
"But Sam--"
Sammy released Yaz's hand. Just a little bit further. Her legs felt like jelly and her cheeks burned. The sun was relentless. Was she going to black out?
Yaz suddenly overtook Sammy. She crossed the finish line and spun on her heel. "Come on, Sammy! You got this!" She encouraged, waving her hands. She didn't take Yaz for the cheerleading type, but she sure inspired Sammy.
Yaz was right there! She was waiting for her. Just a few more steps. She could do this, couldn't she? Seeing Yaz standing there, waiting for her, it filled her with hope. Sammy pushed forward with one last burst of energy. Her legs completely gave out from under her and she crashed into Yaz, sending both of them toppling onto the ground.
Sammy blinked, her throat burning and chest heaving as she fought to take in oxygen. Sweat dribbled down the side of her face. She was used to the heat and physical exertion of working on the farm, but she forgot just how taxing running could be. Being chased by dinosaurs had surely lit a fire under her back on Nublar.
Sammy finally snapped back to reality as she moved into a sitting position. Immediately she helped Yaz do the same. "Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! Are you okay?!" She immediately began checking her over for any bruises or scrapes that she might have accidentally inflicted upon her. Exhaustion was thrown to the side as her girlfriend's wellbeing was of far more importance; to her at least. She didn't even care her vision was slightly spinning.
Yaz grabbed her hands. "Sammy. I'm fine, really." Her eyes searched Sammy's expression thoughtfully.
Sammy set a hand on her forehead and wiped away the sweat on her brow. Why was she feeling fuzzy?
Yaz leapt to her feet, dashed over toward one of the water refuel stations, and grabbed two ice cold bottles of water. In seconds, she was right by Sammy's side. "Here, drink this. You're dehydrated," She uncapped one and handed it off.
Sammy brought the bottle to her lips and took in the refreshing icy chill. In ten seconds, she had downed the entire thing.
Yaz held the other bottle against her forehead to help cool her off. With her other hand, she supported Sammy's back in case she fainted. "Feeling better? I don't want you passing out on me. If you need to lie down, I'll help you," She quickly rambled off and bit her lip.
"I'm fine, Yaz," Sammy assured as she leaned against Yaz's shoulder. Her breathlessness had begun to subside, and the water bottle had done wonders for her heat exhaustion. "Just out of it is all. I forgot just how much running takes it out of ya. You make it look so easy."
Yaz chuckled and moved to set a hand atop Sammy's. "It took years of practice to get to where I am today. Or, well, to where I used to be. You did amazing. Besides, I can say the same for you and horseback riding. Remember what a disaster I was trying to ride for the first time?" She teased.
Sammy thought back to that particular, eye-opening experience. "I thought you got an A+ for effort," Sammy mused with a smile. "Give it a few more lessons and you'll be a proper cowgirl in no time."
Yaz laughed. It made Sammy's heart flutter. "I know it's hard for us to find the time when we live so far away... But what do you say about going on a few nature runs with me from time to time? In return, you can give me horseback riding lessons."
Sammy dropped her empty bottle and squealed. "Ooo! That sounds perfect! There are tons of places around the farm with a more scenic view. Or, or-- We could go camping! I've only done it a few times, but I think we'd have tons of fun. We could roast marshmallows, tell spooky stories, cuddle by the campfire. Imagine hiking in the mountains! Going for a morning jog while overlooking a breathtaking view would be just the sight to get us up and going!"
Sammy continued to ramble on with her ideas, Yaz listening intently. There were so many things they had yet to experience together. Where would they go next?

My Contribution to Benji Week 2024
Very rushed, but oh well. (Search 'Luckyisshe' on Ao3 for more notes)
tw for eating issues
Day 1 Prompt: Dork Pouch
"I Go Hungry"
Mae had given them a simple assignment: collect a large quantity of loose branches and shrubbery, in hopes they could create a makeshift hideaway for Angel, Rebel, and Firecracker, so they would be less likely to draw the attention of the Brad-Xs. It was the easiest task in comparison to the others, after all, as Brooklynn was assigned to sneak into the Brad-X warehouse for some extra reconnaissance, and Sammy and Yasmina had the chore of gathering heavy stones for the aforementioned dino shelter. Ben wasn’t stupid, he knew what Mae thought of him in terms of strength. He just couldn’t figure out why Kenji volunteered to go with him. He wasn’t complaining though.
As the two boys walked away from their secret camp, Ben asked the question that had been bothering him. “So, why’d you want to come with me? I mean– I’m not complaining or anything, but I figured you’d want to show off your strength by lifting a bunch of heavy rocks and being all… manly and stuff,”.
Kenji smirked. “What if I said I wanted to spend time with you? Like one on one bonding time. Call it a date, maybe?”
Ben felt himself blushing. “Yeah, yeah let’s call it a date!” he laughed, somewhat in disbelief from Kenji’s forwardness. “Oh wait, I think I see a clearing up ahead, let’s look for branches there! And we can continue our hot date while we work,” he joked.
“I’ll race you there!” Kenji challenged, getting a headstart as he took off.
Ben followed him, though he quickly fell behind. His throat burned, and he felt as if his chest was about to explode. Ben’s insistence on a berries only diet was not helping him, as he felt a hollowness in his legs, unable to carry him faster than a light jog. By the time he had reached Kenji, he was out of breath, bent over and panting. He briefly gagged, and Kenji rushed over to him.
“Oh my god are you okay? I totally forgot about the no intense exercise rule, I’m so sorry Ben,”. Regret filled Kenji’s expression, as he stared at the smaller boy, hoping for some signal that he was okay.
Kenji was right, after Ben had fainted in front of the group, Mae forced him to make a promise. If he continued to deny himself of nutrients, he would no longer be allowed to exercise beyond walking. No running, jumping, heavy lifting, or other physical activity unless it was an emergency. Ben had reluctantly agreed.
“Yeah,” Ben gasped for air, “I just need a second. I’m not built for running. Obviously,”. He didn’t stand all the way up, but he did attempt to offer a thumbs-up.
“It’s not that you’re not built for it…” Kenji muttered.
“What?”
“All I’m saying is it’s not a biological reason you’re bad at running, you know who’s at fault,”.
“I don’t want to get into this right now, Kenji, let’s just collect the branches,”. His voice turned bitter.
Kenji sighed, but he saw no use in arguing. He began to gather the materials, and Ben did the same.
Once his arms were full of branches, Kenji looked over to see how Ben was doing. The boy was bent over, still picking up sticks and leaves from a large pile on the ground. “How much you wanna bet we’ll get back before Sammy and Yaz?” He hoped he had given Ben enough time to cool down – physically and emotionally.
“Oh they don’t even have a chance!” Ben smiled, and stood up to face Kenji. Unfortunately, he stood up too fast. He had barely registered the blood pooling in his head as he continued his branch-gathering posture. His head spun, and he watched Kenji’s smile fade as he stumbled backwards, ultimately falling to the ground.
“Ben! Ben, oh god, oh my god! Dude are you okay?!” Kenji rushed over to him.
“M’m fine…” Ben groaned. “Just a little dizzy ‘s all,” he mumbled.
“No, Ben, no that’s not all,”.
“What are you talking about? I stood up too fast, that’s it,”.
“People with regular, functioning bodies don’t just faint when they stand up, Ben!”
Ben remained silent.
“You weren’t at breakfast. You haven’t eaten today, have you?”
“I was going to when we got back…” Ben replied sheepishly.
“Jesus Christ, you don’t realize how serious this is, do you? We’ve survived so much so far, do you really want to waste it on this?”
Ben grimaced. “I’m sorry, it won’t happen again. Just please, save the lecture? I know it doesn’t seem like it but I’m trying, I really am,”.
“Okay fine,” Kenji sighed, “but let me help you. Give me your dork pouch,”.
“What? Why do you need my bag?”
“You haven’t taken anything out since you got it back from me, right?”
Ben shook his head slowly.
“Then trust me, just hand it over,” Kenji said, taking a seat next to Ben.
Ben reluctantly gave the fanny pack to Kenji, who quickly started rooting through it.
“Wow this thing is roomier than it looks – ah, found it!” Kenji pulled out a metallic package. “Who knew these carob bars would actually come in handy? Here,” Kenji unwrapped the bar, not letting Ben see anything written on the back (though he assumed he already had it memorized).
Ben took the bar and stared at it. He hesitantly took a bite. And another.
“You thought I died and your first thought was to look through my things?” Ben scoffed in a playful manner.
“No, I thought you died and my first thought was to sob, then I went through your things,” Kenji corrected.
Ben laughed, and took another bite of the bar. Kenji thought about making a comment about it, but instead he opted to hug the boy. “I don’t want to lose you, okay?”
“Okay,” Ben hugged him back.
—-
Ben pretended not to notice Kenji whispering something to Mae when they returned from their adventure. He pretended not to notice the frown that overtook her face when he finished speaking. He pretended not to notice the increased surveillance towards him during meal times.
Ben smiled when the next food shipment that came in included a new box of organic carob bars.

does ahb james stay alone for all of his life or does he have some romance, even though he never fell in love again ? i find that idea so beautiful and lovely, just him feeling so in love that it carries him until he meets regulus again 🥹
i think i talked to yaz abt this ages ago actually!
but in my head james definitely still has romance. like, he eventually has relationships and he definitely still fucks like he’s not living a celibate life forever ,, (i mean he’s still young and hot! cmon!) but nothing is ever serious. like nobody is living in that brazil house w him. that’s his and regulus’ house only. yk? like no one else is moving in. he never settled down with anyone or fell in love w anyone. no one ever came close to that. that was always just regulus for him.
BUT. that’s just my opinion, yk? i never wrote anything about it. if u wanna imagine james romance-less after regulus that is ur prerogative! anything not written in ahb! is all just lore to me 😭

This post is probably a TLDR post but I just wanna put my opinion out into the void that is the internet to try and counter balance some of the 13 era negativity.
I’m kinda tried of the same uncreative reasons why the majority of the Doctor Who fandom don’t like 13, and I realise I need to get off twitter because I can’t stand the sheer lack of understanding and nuance. And yet I still can’t look away from dwtwt it’s like a train wreck I you can’t help staring at.
What I read there is…
Each Doctor has their own unique personality… but…
Her personality is nothing like the Doctors so she could never be the Doctor… but also
She’s a bad hybrid of 10 and 11…
So which is it? Is she allowed to have a personality different to the other Doctors? Is she not allowed to? Or is she too much like previous Doctors?
Also… shes a Mary Sue…. Is she?
About also…You can’t stop listing all her flaws so I don’t know how she can be a Mary Sue if she’s so flawed that supposedly she could never really be the Doctor. 🤦🏼‍♀️
It’s like whiplash and like a huge part of the fandom decided they just weren’t going to like her, but didn’t meet to get their stories straight before yelling into the void of the internet what that was and now all the reasons contradict each other.
13 is my Doctor, watching her I feel like she honours all the previous versions of themselves while also embracing that she’s someone new. The moral compass is the same the rest is just dressing and she is totally flawed… and in such a realistic way. With all the trauma she wears and her desire to not be alone constantly clashing she wants her friends around but can’t let them into her darkness. Sometimes that also almost gets them killed, she makes mistakes, she try’s to protect the people she loves and succeeds and fails to certain degrees.
We all deal with trauma differently her way is to shut people out, deal with it herself and sometimes it has dire consequences. She’s a great Doctor, she carries the trauma of all the other Doctors and we see the unhealthy way she deals with that trauma. And really her way of dealing with it is to not let people in deep enough to keep them protected from her pain. But she still finds the happy hopeful moments, she gives them incredible experiences. She’s a balancing act between depression and optimism.
What I loved about 13 is she’s deeply flawed, but she never gives up, she never gives in, and even though her coping mechanisms aren’t healthy she did achieve what I think one of her ultimate goals was… she got all her companions home safe. None of them died because of her. What a feat compared to all the other Doctors.
And on a side note what I love about Yaz is that she isn’t blind to the Doctors flaws she loves her in spite of them because even though she’s frustrated and she know the doctor is hurting and hiding things from her and putting her in dangerous situations, she also knows the Doctor has a good heart, that the trauma must be deep and so the Doctor is worth her not giving up on, and so she keeps going keeps pushing but never leaves her side.
Their downfall is that neither of them are great communicators. Their love story is both beautiful and tragic.

he nods his head in agreement. "yeah, i've been trying to get myself better at doing that. the whole tilting your head a bit and looking at stuff a different way. finding something past the surface." tyler adds on to her words. "and oh i whole heartedly agree. his progression is just so..." tyler struggles to find the words and it makes him use his free hand to try and gesture what he's trying to say. "you know like... god, i'm at a lost for words. i think i need to carry around a dictionary or thesaurus." he jokes, finding humor in the situation although the redness of his ears gives away his embarrassment.
"it's just fascinating, is all." he concludes as they approach the front door of the building. he's quick to reach for the handle and open the door for yaz. allowing her to step in first, tyler's not too far behind her. even if their hands weren't connected, he'd be right there beside her anyway.
after a quick check in with the lady in the front, tyler leads the way to the first room that's caught his attention. "speaking of tilting." he jokes in a whisper while leaning his face towards yaz's ear. "wow," he breathes out as he takes a quick glance at everything surrounding them. its obvious that tyler doesn't know where to start first. "anything you wanna look at specifically first?" he asks her.
post-dated 11.11.24:
As she looked at herself in the mirror, she couldn’t help but exhale several deep breaths. She wasn’t entirely sure that this was nerves - it couldn’t be. Her and Tyler at this point were already well acquainted, so the danger of the unknown when it came to dating wasn’t entirely applicable here ... yet still, she wanted to make a good impression for him.
Outfit after outfit laid on her floor in her indecision before opting for a tight, black dress with several revealing cut-outs. She had been going back and forth while she did a small turn in the mirror. Was this trying too hard? Was there even such a thing? She knew just from her comfortability with Tyler that he would be fine with her just wearing a paper bag … but it wasn’t good enough for her. He deserved to have her at her best, just as he had done the same for her since they began whatever blooming relationship this was beginning to be.
“You think this is fine, Tofi?” She spoke to the dog like he’d give her any kind of validation and in own way, he did. With a wag of his tail and expression, happy as ever. Leaning down, she pressed a kiss to the top of her pup’s head before grabbing her purse to head out the door. “Be a good boy. I’ll be back later.” She hushed as the clinks of her heels followed her out the door, leading her to Tyler’s front door. And with a baited breath, she knocked.

Okay some it’s been twenty-four hours officially since I’ve seen the power of the doctor. Here are my thoughts;
GOOD;
• GODDAMN THAT SHIT WAS GOOD - from a plot perspective, a lot of callbacks to classic era, honestly made me wanna get britbox and watch classic who like the hype I felt seeing the past doctors - if I had actually watched their eras I would’ve shat myself even more
• SACHA FUCKING DHAWAN - someone give this man a fucking Oscar HOLY SHIT. He stole the show - he really did !!
• The VISUALS WILL AHHEIEHRIEJE ISTG NO OTHER ERA WILL HAVE BETTER SFX than this era! I will DIE ON THAT HILL
• YAZ - EVERYTHING ABOUT YAZ 😍 this is why she is top tier companion material my friends. BRIDAL CARRIES THE DOCTOR, SAVES THE FUCKING DAY, TAKES NO CREDIT FOR IT, FLYS THE TARDIS WITH HER NOTES, CAN READ GALLIFREYAN (apparently), STANDS UP TO THE MASTER, BECOMES THE DOCTOR IN HER OWN RIGHT, and is SO BRAVE when saying goodbye
• the actual regeneration - her little speech, her last sunrise, “tag, youre it” FUCK ME THATS SUCH A THIRTEEN THING TO SAY 😭 she was just so at peace with her fate, she knew it was time and she just accepted it
• THE companion support group situation at the end, and how they left a seat for Sarah Jane. That was beautiful
BAD;
• Idk if it was just me but it didn’t seem like Jodies doctor was given a lot to do? Like she gets taken away, gets forced into regeneration, degenerates into herself, gets rid of the daleks and the cybermen with her team, gets shot by a laser and then actually regenerates ?
• Obviously we already know how I feel about Jodie regenerating into David and the “what, what, what” - didn’t love it at all but it is what it is, moving on
• I don’t really understand what the point of having Vinder back was ? Kinda just felt like they wanted to bring Jacob back bc they like him? Same with Graham - like nice to see him, but him and Yaz barely acknowledged each other? Same with him and the doctor?
CONFLICTED;
• Companion endings - Dan leaving? Made sense but felt out of place and sort of rushed?
• The thasmin of it all - LOOK, I could make a WHOLE other post about this. One the one hand, we got quite a lot, like seeing that they’re equals, them always having each other’s back and wanting the other safe, soft touches, actions of love, acts of service, “[the Doctor] is loved”, “my doctor”, and “I’ve loved being with you Yaz”. That was their version of I love you and it was beautiful.
Their goodbye scene was HEARTBREAKING. Genuinely I’ve never heard more beautiful words said between two people who love each other and know it’s time to let each other go. The doctor saying “you know what this means right?” Shows that they’ve already talked about this, this conversation has been had off screen and we weren’t meant to be a part of it: it was something between them. Their plan was one last trip to end on a good note and idk I just, loved it. I will forever tear up watching that scene.
There could’ve been much more done, it felt VERY RUSHED towards the end. One the one hand, I’m not feeling that optimistic hopeful approach that was setup to be felt for Yaz’s ending. She’s jusy back on earth, and will probably work for UNIT and continue to save the earth. ONE THE OTHER HAND, it’s such a full circle moment bc when she started, she had just met someone who lost the love of their life but decided that the best way to grieve was find comfort in others. That’s exactly what she’s doing. She’s just lost the doctor and now, she’s found a group of people who have gone through exactly what she has gone through, and they’re getting through it together.
The lack of a kiss again I feel conflicted. I was convinced they were going to and was kinda mad they didn’t but then I sat and thought about it and I’m almost glad that they didn’t. It would’ve hurt them both too much, “it felt cruel, to be shown something I couldn’t have anymore. It felt like I’d rather not have know” pretty much sums that up I think. ALSO they did share a cheek kiss, bc Yaz kisses the doctor on the cheek when she bridal carries her 😌
Yaz being alive means that there’s a high possibility of her coming back, and I hope they definitely bring Jodie back as well in future.

Warnings: self deprication??
This is more of a vent story about how I've been feeling recently. ADHD can really mess with you at time. Now, I am a girl and this is just how my ADHD affects me so if you can't relate, please don't attack me. Maybe spelling mistakes? I wrote this in ten minutes. Maybe I'll write a second part some time?
--------------------------------------
It had been a few days since our last adventure and I was raring to go on another. Having a condition that made your brain feel like it was on fast forward, was really irritating at times. Jumping down the steps, I joined the rest at the console and smiled at them happily.
"So, where are we going now?" I asked, excited at the idea of a new planet or experience. Dan looked at me and sighed.
"Actually, I've asked the doc to drop us off home. Need a rest you know?" Face falling slightly, I looked between them both.
"Both of you?" Yaz just nod at me.
"Yeah, I wanna see my family and do a bit of work." Swallowing down my disappointment, I stood back and rested my hand on the console.
"Yeah, of course." Feeling the tardis land, we dropped yaz off first before heading on to Liverpool. Dan waved at us then left briskly. I turned to the doctor, my gaze down to the metallic floor.
"You can drop me off n-"
"I'm not taking you home." Head shooting up, she smiled at me before sending us off into space once more.
"Before we do anything, I do want a chat. If that's okay?" Confused, I agreed and quickly followed after the blonde when she left the main room. After a minute, we entered a room that was a cross between a library and a living room. There was a plush brown couch situated in front of a lit fire. Book cases lined the rooms and there was a pile of blankets in the corner.
"Get comfortable." Doing as she said, I sat on the couch and pulled my knees up to my chest out of reflex. Joining me, the doctor gave a kind smile before holding my hand.
"I've never seen you look so heart broken. Why didn't you want to go home?" Her question caught me off guard and I could tell that she suspected something bad. Shaking my head quickly, I laughed a little.
"My home is very safe doctor. I'm just- When plans change or, I make plans in my head and they get ruined, it really bothers me." I explained slightly embarrassed. It always sounded selfish saying these thoughts out loud.
"I have ADHD. Its different in how it affects each individual. For me, I need to constantly be doing something. Or have something to look forward. Or else, what's the point?" Staring at our joined hands, I took notice of how pretty and slender hers were. Why hadn't i seen that the many other times we'd held hands? Shaking my head from the distractions, I carried on.
"Its selfish i know. But my head feels like there's a million tiny people running around and continually screaming at me to do something. I need activity." Pressing my lips together, I almost squeaked in surprise when the doctor moved over to my side and pressed herself against my side. She looked at me with intent, as if I was the most interesting person in the universe.
"You need constant distraction from your own feelings. Your own self conscience is out to get you." All I could do was nod dumbly at her observing. We were so close and I could feel the blush crawling up my skin.
"I dont think it's selfish by the way. You can help they way you think, love." Now I definitely was blushing. Where did that name come from? Either way, I relaxed knowing that I wasn't being judged.
"You're lucky you found me. We can do whatever you want, whenever you want. But. You do need a break sometimes okay? Even I do." Nodding my head at her words, the doctor beamed and wrapped her arms around me. Sinking I to her hold, my head rested on her chest, arms linked round her waist.
"Never be scared to tell me if this buzzing is overwhelming you. I can help. I'll be here." Tears welled up in my eyes but I didn't let them fall. My grip tightened on her, thinking back to back home. I was always alone. So hard to make friends and everyone so busy.
"I'm so used to being shut down. To people not understanding. They tell me that i can't be like that. That it's not fair. That it's not all about me." Chewing on my lip, I almost drew blood.
"I know it's not about me. I just want to have fun, is that a crime? Why does no one ever wa-" choking up, I cut myself off accidentally. The doctor sat me up worriedly and wiped my eyes gently.
"Hey, its okay. I'm here for that now. I'm more than happy to be there when you feel like this." Sniffling, I looked at her doubtfully. I just couldn't believe it. Not when my own mother wouldn't give me the time when I needed it. No matter how much I explained how I felt, it was pushed aside.
"Why? Im-...its pretty pointless. No?"
"No. Not at all. Spending time with you? I couldn't think of anything better." Not being able to surpress my smile, I threw myself at her. Face buried into her neck, my arms hung over her shoulders loosely. The doctor rubbed my back and chuckled at my actions.
"I've got a whole universe to show you darling. So you better now back out on me now." Laughing, I pulled away and kissed her cheek affectionately. Not minding the colour her cheeks were gaining, I simpered.
"Of course I won't. Not ever."

I think the first time Yaz carried Doctor was before the high gravity trapeze. Just imagine the most basic scene:
Yaz and Doctor are sitting in TARDIS's console room. Yaz is drinking tea or reading a book while Doctor is looking at her very intensely, like you can tell by her eyes that in her head there is a huge calculations going on. So when Yaz catch Doctor's sight she's says:
"Doctor? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Doctor reply:
"I was wondering if you are strong enough to carry me."
"Why?"
"For research purpose."
And Yaz don't ask the Doctor anything else, she just get up, walk to the Doctor and says:
"We can find out."
Of course Yaz doesn't just come to the Doctor and pick her up. Oh no no no no, there is a whole logistical undertaking and a lot of questions: so how you wanna do this? Should I pick you up bridal style or just flung over mh shoulder? Are you okay Doctor with me touching you there? Where should I put my hands? Where should you put yours?
It's very double coded scene.
And when Yaz finally pick up the Doctor, they standing in the middle of the console room in TARDIS both of them red on faces and all Doctor can think about is: Shit... Yasmin Khan is freaking strong.
Few days after that the Doctor took Yaz for high gravity trapeze class.
thinking about the fact that yaz had to have known that she could carry the doctor before tpotd because it really would have been tragic if she tried to and couldn't. there has to be something that happened prior in order for her to know that she could do it.

"It hasn't been every adult….has it?" Sammy asks, glancing around the group. She ducks her head as she avoids Yazs' eyes.
"Hey…hey guys. Are you okay?" Darius asks, trying to get up. Yaz tightens her grip, only loosening it once Darius stops trying and leans back against her.
"We're fine. You are not." Brooklyn says, pointing at him.
"I'm not hurt." Darius protests. "Yaz picked me up and got me out."
"He's eating first from now on." Yaz cuts in, frowning down at him. "I'm strong, but carrying you was way too easy."
"Alphas feed their pack first." Darius shoots back.
"And their young." Sammy points out, flinching back when Darius glares at her.
"We're getting off track." Kenji cuts in, quietly. "She wasn't talking about physical pain, D."
"I don't wanna talk about it." Darius mumbles.
"Too bad, we're talking about it anyway." Brooklyn says.
"Darius, don't push away from us, please." Sammy says, hugging herself.
"Darius?" Yaz says.
"It's….you guys really hadn't realized?" Darius shifts, looking around at his friends, his Pack. They all shake their heads. "Every adult has either left us or tried to kill us."
"I still don't think it's every adult." Sammy says, shifting to lean against Kenji, who's stretched his legs out. "I mean, yeah, Mitch and Tiff, but ain't it just them?"
"I never did like those two." Brooklyn mutters from where she's laying down, her legs over Kenjis' and her head in Sammys' lap.
"Which was the right call and I should have…" Darius stops abruptly.
"Trusted my judgement?" Brooklyn says. "That's in the past, but we're asking you to trust us now, let us into your head."
"Not everything in your head, you can keep the dino facts." Kenji says.
"Afraid you'll get a headache from all the thinking you're not used to?" Yaz jokes, raising an eyebrow.
"Har de har. You're so funny." Kenji scowls at her, before they all laugh.
"C'mon, D. Spill the deets." Brooklyn says once they calm down.
"That birthday dude. On Nublar." Darius mutters.
"Oh yeah, he jacked the van, didn't he?" Kenji says.
"I could have caught the van." Yaz mutters.
"And…and he wasn't going to wait for us, even though he knew it wasn't safe." Darius continues. "And…and Mitch and Tiff had no problems threatening Yaz and Sammy or leaving you all behind."
"And then Wu and Hawkes kidnapping Brooklyn." Kenji adds. Darius hides a flinch.
"And then leaving us behind and they knew we were there. And didn't have a way off." Brooklyn says.
"Kash. Kash is an adult who sucks." Sammy interjects, wincing.
"Huh. So we really can't trust adults, can we?" Kenji asks.

Hope I'm not too late for the ask game💙💙
Hey Lyn! 💙
This fanfic ask game
76. How do you deal with writing pressure, whether internal or external?
Ha, badly! I usually end up messaging yaz saying I wanna delete all 😅.
I post snippets if I have something I’m happy with and then likes, reblogs and asks make me feel better!
I recently started getting bad anxiety when I post a chapter so I usually post and then go out to the pub with my partner so I have something to distract myself with in case it flops/get bad reviews 😄
77. Why do you enjoy writing fanfiction?
It gives me an outlet for my emotions! Something bad happened at work? I can just fix it in my fic. Life gets overwhelming? Let me just write for an hour or so.
I found it extremely therapeutic and it’s a little challenge for myself too (Aka can I finish this project even if it takes ages)
78. What motivates you during the writing process?
I hate disappointing people so usually that keeps me going!
I have one reader that’s been commenting since ch2 and has been a big motivation in the early days and I always try to think of them when I wanna give up and how I really don’t want to disappoint them.
I’ve also been super lucky so far cause each time my motivation gets really low, I either get a lovely comment or a lovely ask and that pushes me to carry on!

Girlfriend of the Week
Summary: The Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz and Dan find themselves on a train during the 1990s. However, they aren't the only time travellers on board, and Yaz is about to discover just how flirty a certain pyrotechnic-obsessed girl is...
(Yes, I have read "At Childhoods End" but this takes place in a universe where Yaz hadn't met Ace by the time Dan joined the TARDIS team. The centenary special is probably going to do something very different, but this is just my read on things)

The TARDIS finally stopped groaning.
‘So… where are we?’
The Doctor grinned over the console at Yaz.
‘Surprise, Yaz.’
Dan could the look of hope in Yaz’s eyes, and he smiled to himself as he followed Yaz and the Doctor out the blue doors.
They were stood in the middle of a train carriage. Judging from the various parcels around them, they were in the carriage used for postal deliveries. Yaz’s face fell slightly, and her forehead creased in confusion.
‘Doctor, where are we?’
The Doctor gestured around them.
‘Train carriage, travelling through Southern England. Thought it might be a nice change of pace.’
Yaz took a step closer to the blonde.
‘You… you said you were gonna tell me everything.’
The Doctor stared at Yaz for a split second, and their eyes met. Dan could see the hope in Yaz’s eyes.
He had spent several years in the early twentieth century with Yaz, and he knew just how much the young woman cared for the Doctor. What had angered Dan was that the Doctor not only seemed to be aware of this, but was actively pretending that they had no idea of the sheer extent of Yaz’s feelings.
Even if the Doctor had good reason for trying to maintain that they didn’t know, Dan knew that it wasn’t healthy in the long run for Yaz to be carrying a torch for someone who pretended not to notice.
The Doctor’s eyes seemed to widen as they saw the emotion in Yaz’s expression. However, much to Dan’s surprise, they immediately darted forward and wrapped their hand around Yaz’s.
‘I will,’ they said, quietly. ‘I promise.’
Yaz stared at the blonde for a second.
‘You mean it? ‘Cause I’ve heard you promise stuff before...’
Both of them seemed to have forgotten than Dan was stood nearby, so he quietly walked over to the nearest door, and slipped through it.
Closing the door softly behind him, Dan found himself in a corridor. Pretty basic train corridor, by all accounts. In fact, Dan remembered travelling in train carriages much like this during the nineteen-nineties.
He headed down the corridor, and went through into the next carriage. It was mostly empty except for a half dozen people. There was a faint smell of stale tea mixed with crisps.
Dan sat down, staring out of the window at the countryside. A country pub briefly flashed by.
A few minutes later, Yaz and the Doctor entered the carriage. Dan had been hoping that maybe they had become closer, but this was sadly not the case. The Doctor’s face was fixed in a smile that didn’t mean their eyes. Yaz, meanwhile, had a frustrated expression.
Dan sighed.
‘Be back in a mo,’ the Doctor said, quickly. ‘Gonna have a look around. Usual rule, Dan; don’t wander off.’
Dan nodded, grimly, watching Yaz sit down in a seat nearby.
The Doctor’s gaze momentarily lingered on Yaz, before the time lord seemed to shake themselves and hurry off down the carriage.
‘Yaz?’
The young Yorkshirewoman looked up.
Dan reached over and patted her on the shoulder.
‘Wanna talk about it?’
 Yaz smiled slightly.
‘The Doctor does want to tell me everything. But… I dunno, I get the sense that it isn’t easy for them. They’ve never been great with… y’know, being open with people.’
‘So they pushed you away again?’
‘No!’ Yaz said, quickly. ‘They just… they said they need some time. They want to tell me properly, when there isn’t any distractions or life threatening situations. Where me and them can just… talk.’
Dan smiled.
‘You deserve the best, Sheffield.’
Yaz grinned.
‘Thanks, Dan.’
‘Hey, wicked jacket!’
The girl sat in the seat behind Yaz had peeked her head over the seat. The girl, who looked to be about Yaz’s age, was wearing a jacket covered in pins.
She was also grinning lopsidedly at Yaz.
‘Er… thanks,’ Yaz replied, turning to face them. ‘Yours isn’t too bad either.’
The girl smiled wider, and hopped over the seat to sit down on Yaz’s other side.
‘I’m Ace,’ the girl said, grabbing Yaz’s hand and shaking it energetically. ‘Nice to meet you.’
‘Yaz,’ replied Yaz, shaking back.
Dan grinned. Deciding that Yaz would probably like some time alone with the girl, he stood up and headed down through the carriage, towards where the Doctor had gone. He opened the door at the end of the carriage and headed through into the next one.
As the door closed behind him, he happened to look out the window nearby.
A country pub flashed by.
Dan did a double take.
No mistaking it. It was the same pub, right down to the old bloke stretching on a bench outside. Even the name of the pub was the same: “The St George’s Head”.
‘Doctor!’
‘What?’ said the blonde, poking her head out of a nearby door. Their eyes were slightly red.
‘Something’s wrong,’ Dan said, frantically pointing out the window. ‘Look! That pub…’
The Doctor squinted at where Dan was pointing. Sure enough, the same pub appeared multiple times. The blonde’s eyes widened. They pulled their sonic screwdriver out of a pocket of their coat, and scanned around the window.
‘Time loop,’ they muttered, worried. ‘But I can’t get a fix on the cause; must be so close…’
Without a word, they hurried away along the carriage.
‘And they say about me not wandering off…’ Dan muttered, before turning to head back. He walked back along the way he had come, before coming to a halt.
A short figure was knelt down on the ground, their head and arms stuck into the maintenance panel. Judging from the various electronic noises coming from within, they were tinkering around inside.
There was a couple of loud bangs, and they hurried pulled themselves out of the panel.
The figure stood up. They were fairly short, with a paisley scarf draped over a cream jacket. A pair of dark grey trousers were matched with a pair of spats. As they stood up, they picked a Panama hat off the ground and placed it upon their head. It gave them the appearance of an eccentric professor on holiday.
‘Ah, good morning, my dear fellow,’ they said, speaking with a soft Scottish accent. ‘I don’t suppose you would happen to have a 242 timer on you?’
‘Er… no,’ replied Dan. ‘You work here, mate?’
‘Oh, no; just professional curiosity.’
With that, they stuck their head back into the maintenance panel.
‘I see they still haven’t made the switch over to fully automated components,’ they said, voice muffled. ‘Hand me that screwdriver, will you?’
Dan looked around, and saw the requested item. He then knelt down and handed the screwdriver to…
‘What’s y’name, then?’
‘Oh, my young friend Ace calls me “The professor”; have you seen her, by the way? Jacket with lots of pins in it? Faint smell of pyrotechnics?’
‘Yeah, she’s sat with my mate Yaz.’
‘That’s good. People always wander off, even when I tell them not to.’
Dan stared at the professor. That sounded familiar. Wasn’t the Doc always complaining that he wandered off all the time?
‘Y’say the timer’s gone funny?’ Dan said, bending down next to the professor. ‘My mate was saying there’s some weird thing going on round here.’
‘Your friend must be very intelligent,’ replied the professor, pulling out again and closing the panel shut. ‘If I’m not very much mistaken, we could have a potential time loop crisis on our hands.’
‘Can we fix it?’
‘Possibly,’ said the professor, now fiddling with a device they had pulled out of their jacket pocket. ‘You see, the source of the loop seems to keep moving-’
‘Dan, what did I say about wandering off?’
Dan looked over his shoulder. The Doctor was walking back up the carriage, looking irritated.
‘Oh, that’s rich!’ said Dan, as the blonde came to a halt next to him. ‘Anyway, this professor bloke says they’ve got an idea about this time thingy-’
‘What do you mean, “this professor” …’ they trailed off. The professor turned around to look at them.
‘Ah, hello,’ said the professor, smiling cheerfully. ‘I’m-’
‘That’s what’s causing the paradox!’ The Doctor exclaimed, angrily. ‘Two versions of the same time lord in one confined train! What are you doing here? Don’t you realise how dangerous it is to cross our timestream?’
The professor stared at them.
‘Are you me, then?’ they replied, nonplussed. ‘Fascinating.’
Dan stared between them, his mouth falling open. Two Doctors? He knew time travel was a tricky business, but… the Doctor could change their form? That was news to him. Did Yaz know?
Deciding it was best not to comment on it, Dan kept his mouth shut.
‘Hang on,’ the blonde said, slowly. ‘If this version of me is here, then you’d probably be here with…’
‘Ah, you remember Ace!’ the other Doctor grinned. ‘Yes, I believe she was sat near your young friend. Er… Yaz, I believe Dan said her name was?’
The Doctor’s eyes widened, as if realising something. She immediately spun round and barrelled in the opposite direction towards the door.
‘What’s wrong?’ Dan asked, turning to the other Doctor. ‘Is it a time paradox thing? Are Yaz and Ace in danger?’
‘No,’ the other Doctor replied, chuckling as they headed back through the train compartment, Dan trailing behind them. ‘I believe my counterpart is worried because Ace has something of an… effect on young women when she meets them…’
                                                                *
 ‘You’re a police officer?’
‘Used to be,’ Yaz replied. It had been a few minutes since Dan had headed off down the corridor, leaving left them alone. ‘Haven’t been for years now.’
‘Good,’ Ace replied, grinning lopsidedly. ‘I like a dangerous girl.’
Yaz felt her face burn. Was… was she being flirted with? No, surely not. But… well, was there anything wrong with that? After all, the Doctor had pushed her away whenever she’d tried to get closer, even though the time lord had said that they’d tell Yaz everything. This… this was okay, right?
‘I’m really not.’
‘Could have fooled me,’ Ace continued. ‘What with that jacket and all.’
‘Thanks,’ Yaz said. ‘But I’m just a normal girl from Yorkshire.’
‘With a cute accent.’
Yaz laughed.
‘It’s not that cute.’
‘Wanna bet?’
Ace reached out and tucked the lock of Yaz’s hair behind her ear. Yaz felt goosebumps erupt down the back of her neck.
‘Your voice isn’t the only thing cute about you,’ Ace said, softly.
Yaz blinked hurriedly, feeling her blood roaring in her ears. Her heart was beating incredibly fast. But… what about the Doctor? Oh, god…
Ace was just about to stroke her finger against Yaz’s cheek-
‘ACE MCSHANE, TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF THAT WOMAN THIS INSTANT!’
Yaz and Ace both jumped in their seats. Yaz felt her face flush further; oh, god, the Doctor had seen Ace flirting with her! But… why did they sound so angry?
‘Professor, I wasn’t…’ Ace said, turning, but her brow then wrinkled in confusion. She stared at the Doctor. ‘Hang on, you’re not the professor.’
‘I was the professor!’ The Doctor threw an arm around Yaz and pulled her bodily away from Ace. They did not remove their arm after they’d done so. ‘You leave my Yaz alone!’
Yaz seemed unable to form words. Especially given how… protective the Doctor’s arm around her was.
Ace raised an eyebrow.
‘Y’alright, Sheffield?’
Dan had joined them, along with another person, who was wearing a Panama hat.
Dan gave Yaz an apologetic grimace. Yaz was now feeling incredibly flustered, brought on by the mixture of Ace’s flirtation, the Doctor’s possessive attitude and the words “My Yaz”. The latter was still reverberating through Yaz’s brain.
‘Hello,’ said the Panama-hat wearer. ‘I’m the Doctor, how do you do?’
Yaz’s mouth fell open.
‘D-Doctor,’ she said, looking between the hat-wearer and the Doctor. ‘But… what…’
‘Professor,’ Ace asked. ‘What are they on about?’
‘Ah, you see, Ace, she is me and I am her,’ the other Doctor replied. ‘I am her past and she is my future. Time travel, and all that.’
‘I thought you’d get taller.’
The other Doctor chuckled.
‘Ah, and this must be Miss Khan,’ he said, eyes twinkling cheerfully. ‘I see my counterpart is rather attached to you.’
And he tweaked Yaz’s nose.
‘You will have to forgive my young friend Ace,’ he continued, ignoring the glare that Yaz’s Doctor was shooting in the hat-wearer’s direction. ‘She seems rather attached to you, too.’
‘Eh, Doctor,’ Dan said. ‘Time loop? Remember?’
‘Yes,’ the Doctor said, quickly, moving their arm off of Yaz’s shoulders and taking her hand instead. ‘We best get a shifty-on; never good to cross timestreams for any amount of time. If we don’t get away now, things could get really bad.’
‘Well…see you around, then, Yaz,’ Ace said, shaking Yaz’s other hand and grinning again. ‘It’s been nice meeting you.’
‘Yeah,’ Yaz said, still blushing a little as she shook the girls’ hand. ‘See you.’
Ace gave one last smile, before following the other Doctor away in the opposite direction. A few moments later, they could hear the sounds of a TARDIS dematerialising.
‘Well,’ Dan said, cheerfully. ‘That was interesting. Good to know your dress sense hasn’t improved much over time, Doc.’
‘Oy! I’ll ‘ave you know that hat saved the universe on more than one occasion!’
Dan chuckled, and headed back through the train carriage. The Doctor and Yaz followed him.
‘Doctor?’
‘Hmmm?’
The Doctor turned to look at Yaz.
‘You… you’re still holding my hand.’
The blonde looked down. The two of them slowed to a stop.
‘Oh. Yes, I am.’
They didn’t let go.
Yaz couldn’t stop the smile that spread over her face. The Doctor stared at her, and the blonde’s mouth curved into a very soft smile. Their eyes met, hesitantly. Yaz squeezed the Doctor’s hand.
Dan, stood by the door of the TARDIS, grinned at the two of them. But both of them were too focused on each other to notice.

Thanks for reading, everyone! Hope you enjoyed this little AU idea (I especially enjoyed writing Yaz being a gay disaster🤣).

The blue box.
You’d spent years searching for that beautiful blue box and now here it is. Finally you’ve found it which means you’ve found him.
So why aren’t you walking over and knocking on the door?
Instead you find yourself stood on the other side of the road, staring at the box not knowing what to do. During the years of tracking it down you always thought that when you found it, when you found him, you’d know exactly what to say but now you're here the words are gone. What if he doesn’t want to see you again?
Then the door opens and before you even know what you're doing suddenly you're running. Your feet carry you across the road towards the blue box as you shout to the man.
“Dad!”
He doesn’t respond. He probably didn’t hear you over the hustle and bustle of the busy Sheffield street.
“Dad!” You repeat as you crash into him, throwing your arms around him in a tight hug. “I found you!”
“You what love?” Is all he can say, his cockney voice thick with confusion. You pull away and look him in the face.
“You’ve changed. But then again so have I. I cant believe I finally found you”
He stares back at you blankly.
“I’m sorry do I know you”
You're about to reply when two more people step out of the box. A boy and a girl, both in their early twenties.
“She said she’ll be out in a minute she’s just got to- Who’s this?” The girl stops speaking when she spots you.
“I’m his daughter” you say, matter of fact.
“What?!” The boy shouts.
“You didn’t tell us you had a daughter, Graham” the girl speaks again
“Graham? You changed your name too?” You ask but he ignores you.
“Thats cause I don’t. I haven’t got kids.”
“Course you do. Don't you remember, on the planet Messaline you created me. I was made from your DNA.” You explain but he continue looking blankly at you “You're my dad! How can you not remember this?!”
“You know anything about this Doc?” He asks, turning your attention to the blonde woman who just stepped out the TARDIS.
Your eyes meet and you stare at her for a moment. You’ve never seen her before but somehow you feel like you know her.
“Doc? As in Doctor… you're the Doctor?” You almost whisper.
“That’s me, and who are you?” She replies cheerfully.
“But you're a woman. How…?”
“I recently had an upgrade.” She smiles, taking a small device out of her coat pocket and scanning it over you. She studies it.
“I didn’t know we could do that. I mean, I didn’t know we could even change bodies until the second time I died. Woke up as someone else, that was a shock. But we can change gender too? That’s cool”
“Two heart beats. Same genetic code as me but not a Time Lord? How can that-” she stops talking and looks up at you “…Jenny?”
“Well actually it’s Y/N now. New face, new name. But yeah, it’s me.” You take a breath and smile. “Hi Dad”
She looks at you, completely dumbstruck.
“Or is it Mom now? I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a mother… Can I call you mom? Or is that a bit weird?” You ramble nervously.
“Just give me a minute” The Doctor says before hurrying back into the blue box, shutting the door behind her.
You look awkwardly at the three strangers.
“I’m sure she won’t be long” Graham says, giving you a reassuring smile. You all stand in silence for a few moments but she doesn’t come back out.
“This was a mistake” you say as you turn and run away.
“Y/N!” “Wait!” “Come back!” The guys call after you but you don't stop running till you're out of sight.
— — — —
Sitting on a bench in the middle of a quiet park you find yourself reliving your memories of the day you were created back on Messaline. You remember how it felt to suddenly be alive and straight away handed a gun. You remember how at first The Doctor had been cold towards you but eventually embraced you and taught you that you didn’t have to be the soldier you were created to be. You remember how caring Donna had been, how she looked out for you and gave you the name ‘Jenny’. When you imagined what a mother would be like, you thought of Donna.
“Room for a little one?” A voice pulls you out of your thoughts and you turn to see The Doctor stood watching you. You nod and she takes a seat next to you on the bench.
“Why did you run off?”
“Well you weren’t exactly happy to see me so I figured-”
“It’s just a shock that’s all. You died remember.” Her face goes serious as she looks out across the park “I held you in my arms and watched you die. When I left that planet you were dead.”
“And now I’m alive. I don't know how it happened I just, I woke up. I was given a second chance at life and I didn’t want to waste it on that planet so I stole an escape shuttle and I went off on my own adventures. Got lonely after a while though, travelling on my own, so I decided to find you. I tried to write to you but I guess you never got my letters.”
She looks at you with a mix of amazement and regret in her eyes.
“How did you find me?”
“It wasn’t easy. You are hard to keep track of-”
“Always have found it hard to keep still for long”
“Yeah I got that. But wherever you go you leave a piece of yourself. All the planets you save and the lives you touch tell a story. But the planet with the most stories, was this one.”
“Humans have a special place in my heart” she smiles
“Yeah I don't know why, they live such dull lives. I’ve been here for a year now living like them, it’s so boring!” You complain and she smirks “anyway, I found a group online that share their stories and sightings of you and they said your TARDIS has been spotted here in Sheffield a lot lately, so I moved here and I’ve been waiting ever since. I couldn’t believe my eyes today when I saw that blue box just sitting there. I almost walked the other way I was so nervous”
“Nervous? Why?”
“I don't know, I just… it’s been so long since Messaline and I’ve changed so much since then… I was scared you’d turn me away…” your voice fades and you sit in silence for a few moments.
“I’m sorry” she finally says “I want to say something reassuring but I’m quite socially awkward, not good at all the serious stuff.”
“That’s okay, I get it-”
“No it’s not. I want to be able to tell you that I’m glad you found me and I’m so so happy you're alive and that I’m so thrilled I’ve got my daughter back…”
“Well… you just did” you smile and she realises what she just said. She grins back at you.
“So. Will you come back to the TARDIS with me? I’ll properly introduce you to the fam”
“The fam?”
“Oh yeah, that’s what I call them. Graham, Ryan and Yaz. And now you. We can go on adventures together”
“I’d love that” you smile as happy tears threaten to spill from your eyes.
— — ——
When you reach the TARDIS, the Doctor opens up the door and gestures for you to step inside. You walk in and immediately your breath is taken away by the view.
“It’s… amazing! It’s beautiful! It’s so much nicer than the escape shuttle I was travelling in”
“Y/N, this is Ryan, Yaz and Graham. Fam, this is Y/N. My daughter.” The Doctor puts her arm around your shoulder as she introduces you.
“It’s nice to meet you all. Sorry I called you dad” you direct the last part to Graham who just laughs
“It’s alright love, I’ve been called much worse” he responds cheerfully.
“So, where do we want to go then? Y/N, any suggestions?” The Doc asks and you shrug.
“Anywhere. Surprise me! Just make it… not boring” You say and she nods.
“I know just the place” she says, pressing various buttons and switches on the control panel. “Wanna do the honours?”
She beckons you over to her and places your hand on a large lever.  She puts her hand on top of yours and together you pull it down toward you, sending the TARDIS into action. She turns and smiles at you.
“Welcome home”

going off that last ask: loz/yazoo character opinion? i wanna read your thoughts!
Ohooooo, I was waiting for something like this!!! Thank you, Vee :) I’ll do my best to explain <333
Starting off with Yazoo:
First impression: Calm, level-headed, perhaps a bit shy. What surprised me the first time watching was how deep his voice was. He’s got this grace about him that leaves you simply... staring. I interpreted the introductory scene where Loz nearly cries and Yaz tells him not to as comforting-- Which I think is what a good chunk of Rem fans see it as? Overall, pretty, but not much else.
Impression now: I think he’s fucking ruthless under that dainty face, if you ask me. Honestly, it’d be right in line with Sephiroth. I think out of the both of his brothers, he gets along better with Kadaj, but if he wasn’t around, I doubt Yazoo would have nearly enough investment in their quest. He comes across as apathetic and uncompassionate, perhaps even a little haughty. I feel like his relationship with Loz is tolerable at best, and downright acidic at worst. With Loz being the way he is, I wouldn’t be surprised if Yazoo and Kadaj had to keep an eye on him at all times, just in case. I feel, though, at the end of the day Yazoo does care about his brothers, and would risk his life for them. It’s in his bones, and he can’t help it, whether he likes it or not. Still very pretty though, lmao.
Favourite moment: Been forever sinced I watched Advent Children, and, unfortunately, Yazoo my beloved doesn’t get many scenes. I’ll have to go with the introductory scene, as it gives us an idea of who they are and what their dynamic is like right off the bat.
Idea for a story: I feel like any story with Yazoo inevitably ends up involving Loz, so I’ll make a joint bullet-point for them at the end of the post <3
Unpopular opinion: Mmm, probably the more apathetic, if not downright spiteful characterisation. If my friend @vesaniens’s experience is to be believed, then at least Back In Her Day it was far more common for Yazoo and Loz to be buddy-buddy while Kadaj goes off and does his own thing. I can see the appeal in that dynamic, and understand where it comes from. There’s alot of ways you can interpret ‘don’t cry, Loz,‘ and as it is the introductory scene, however you do sets down the foundation for all that follows.
Favourite relationship: The Remnants aren’t characters I can find preferable ships for in-canon, so romantic is off the table here. I will say, though, a dynamic where Genesis and Yazoo are mentor and mentee would be downright tooth-rotting. Genesis preening him, taking him out to nice places, showing him fine literature-- I love it! I don’t see much talk about how the Remnants would relate to Gen and Geal, and I think that’s a damn shame. Plus, Yazoo can then quietly rub it in either of his brothers’ faces whenever he gets annoyed with them. To pick another, though, definitely him and Loz-- Especially if it is strained. It’s very clear they’re meant to contrast each other. Yazoo is lithe, subtle and venemous; Loz is big, loud and sensitive. I personally have a huge soft spot for fics where they recouncile their differences and learn to truly love each other.
Favourite headcanon: Honestly, I feel like I need to make a general headcanon post for the Rems as a whole. They’re all inherently tied, so a change to one of them usually affects the other two. To touch up on one from a theory I read about a year ago now(God, has it been that long?), I like the idea that the Remnants got a little bit of Genesis and Angeal mixed in. They’re like 90% Seph, give or take, but the other 10%~? Now that’s where the fun begins baby!!! In this case, the donor would be Genesis, and Yazoo would’ve gotten the more passive-aggressive, snarky, preening aspects of his character. The resentment and feelings of  inferiority towards Sephiroth end up getting mixed into Kadaj, however I don’t want to elaborate on this too long lest I go off-topic. On a more crack-heavy note, I feel like if you waved a laser-pointer in front of him, he’d be transfixed. He’s too dignified to actually leap at it... But he likes watching :)
Now, as for Loz:
First impression: Big phuckign himbo, idiotte of a man. Probably can’t even buckle his own boots. Playtime??? Bitch NO, it’s not playtime! WHY ARE YOU CRYING??? But yeah, my initial view fell alot more in line with what I think is the most common interpretation of him. His excecution leans heavily to Big Dumb Idiot Man Who Cries When He Sees A Duckling.
Impression now: Baby. Poor fucking baby. Honestly, that could be said for all the Remnants, but I don’t think Loz’s struggle is discussed nearly enough. I’ve talked about this before, but, for me, it’s painfully clear that Loz is essentially a child in a grown man’s body. Writer Kazushige Nojima has Loz’s lines about playing during his fight with Tifa were based off his own son, and has described him as “missing a little something upstairs” --And looking at him through that lens, things become alot more disturbing. He’s Sephiroth’s love for Jenova; a doting, yearning, infantilising love. There’s an innocence to Loz, something sweet, something light and airy-- And to have him fight, have him torture, have him kill... just, man. This jarring dichotomy between such hulking, brutal strength, this bringer of destruction, and this kid who wants his mother. Is he aware? Does he truly understand the weight of his actions? Can he? Most of this, admittedly, is a bit of a stretch, but I love this doof alot jhdhjfdjhs can you blame me?
Favourite moment: Oh, definitely the crying scene-- You must be real tired of hearing that again. Though, in Loz’s case, it sets up his sensitivity, and his dynamic with his brothers-- Yazoo in particular.
Idea for a story: Same answer as Yaz.
Unpopular opinion: I think my more infantile view of Loz as a whole is semi-unpopular? Fandom seems pretty split on whether he’s just a himbo or actual babyman. Again, hard to tell, what with most Rem content and discussion being several years old and tricky to find. I’d be curious to have a discussion on this! But yeah, if we’re talking about the wider fanbase, I think my intense appreciation of him is definitely unusual. Alot of OG fans see the Rems as tropey villains, and while I will argue that it makes sense considering they’re fragments of a bigger, badder, more complex villain, I don’t think Loz is nearly as shallow as most would have you believe.
Favourite relationship: As discussed with Yazoo, there aren’t any canon characters I consistently ship the Remnants with -- Especially not for Loz, in particular when viewing him through that youthful lens -- Though as with everything, I am flexible :) On the platonic side... Honestly, I think Loz would just be a big softie who hangs around everyone. If Angeal was baking, Loz would definitely chip in to help, though he might cause more trouble than if he stayed aside. I think he’d try and reach out to Sephiroth, only for his affections to be rejected because the latter is Bad With Emotions and is torn between on whether the Remnants are a nuisance he hands off to his old friends or his children who he wants to scoop up and carry off into the vast cosmos.
Favourite headcanon: Loz eats alot of shit he isn’t meant to. Like, shit that would kill twenty grown men. At least once he has mistaken stinging nettle for mint, and spent the next two or three days scraping his tongue constantly. Would chase a ball if thrown, no questions asked; try playing frisbee with this dude, and you’ll end up on the other side of town by the end of it. If you try and pick him up, he just slumps, like a big, brawny ragdoll cat-- Probably purrs like one, too. Definitely appreciates a good scratch behind the ear :)
There’s like... probably mountains more, but this is what I’ve been able to coax out after a day of writing this on and off. Again, thank you so much for asking!! I’ve been meaning to ramble about the Remnants for ages now, but didn’t know how to go about it.
Aight, as promised:
Story idea: This is one I’ve had on my mind for years now. I haven’t gotten around to it, as it’d require greater familiarity with FFVII’s world as a whole, but the premise is that Yazoo and Loz escape far out into the countryside, and end up in a village. Yazoo soon falls ill, and Loz has to provide a living working for a local farmer. Their dynamic is initially strained, and without Kadaj to hold them together, they nearly end up splitting before arrival. As time passes, and as they grow closer to the community, Yazoo’s grumbles fade into concerned murmers. Slowly, he begins to trust Loz more, and Loz learns to take more responsibility. But as their friendship blossoms, Yazoo’s body withers. Bedbound, he wonders how Loz would fare without him, if he could make it. I imagine this ends up leading to Loz deliberately blowing their cover to get needed medical help from WRO, turning themselves in during the process.
Again, there’s probably more to it, but to be honest even I don’t know. That’s the great thing about creativity :) You never know where you end up!
Thank you for asking, and feel free to ask more if you’re curious! This goes for elaboration on characters already asked, certain headcanons, and even pairings! Also, feel free to add on with your own thoughts! Whether they be additions, refutations, or so on. Fandom discussion(provided it’s civil qwq) can be so much fun!
