Belladonna Nightshade - Halloween Dark Fairy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Base Doll: G3 Twyla from Monster High Clothing Pattern: Dollightful's Asymmetrical Dress (read to the end, I have notes about this)
Happy Halloween everyone! Since becoming a doll customizer, my Halloween dolls are usually related to my favorite indie horror game, Bendy and the Ink Machine. However, seeing as I've completed two Bendy dolls already this year, I felt it was time to give myself a break and try something a bit different. My friends over in DollyAnna's Discord server wanted to do a collaboration, so we decided to all make some Dark Fairies for Halloween!
Belladonna Nightshade is a mischievous fae that loves to play tricks and tempt mortals. That said, she's easily bribed with a sweet treat or two, and will usually let you be if you have a little candy or pastry to give her. I haven't decided what I want to do with her yet in terms of a story, but there is a part of me that would love to have her in my Equinox story.
When you consider the fact that most of my other Halloween dolls are black and yellow, it's no surprise she ended up super colorful. XD Would you believe this is my first doll with rainbow hair? Yeah neither did I, but she is! Part of my style is having really colorful and vibrant dolls, it surprises a lot of people that I've never done a rainbow before, but honestly? I'm glad to have finally tackled one! I'm also glad to have worked with another G3. Twyla is very near and dear to my heart, and I was so psyched to work with her mold! You can't see it in any of these photos, but I used glow in the dark varnish on her eyes and neon markings, so that her eyes still glow like the original. I will say, this doll has a lot more acrylic paint than my others, just by the nature of I don't have any pencils in neon colors. It was nice to get the practice in, I feel more confident than I did before in my brush skills. It was also nice to have a doll with dark scleras for a change! I haven't done that since I made Dreamer, it's surprisingly fun to draw on!
I was inspired by a LOT of different things with this one, and I went back and forth on my concepts a lot. Black light skeleton make-up, butterflies, fairies with non-traditional wings, candy, jesters, these were all sources of inspiration, and I think most obviously of all, Dollightful herself. This wasn't intentional, but I ended up using a doll of one of her favorite characters, with a lot of saturated colors which we know she loves, and even her dress pattern! I've been wanting to make this garment for ages, and finally I had a reason to try it!
So those of you who know how this pattern works are probably asking "Kat, how did you make this fit a G3? This dress is supposed to fit a G1 Monster High doll!" Believe it or not, Requiem Arts has a method for easily adjusting G1 patterns to fit G3 bodies. It's as simple as scaling a pattern up to 104% and printing it that way. It's meant for her garments, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for other doll patterns. So I tried it with Katherine's dress, and I'm happy to say it worked out just fine! I think I probably should have adjusted a bit more on the skirt though. This outfit is essentially two pieces, and the skirt with all the ruffles is a little tight around the booty, it could have used a little more sizing up. So if you own this pattern and want to try this yourself, do keep that in mind!
Do let me know what you think! I had so much fun working on Belladonna, she's so vibrant and fun, I wanna try more fairies like her someday. I also need to try using props more. I got these pumpkins and hay bales on sale, and it was fun using them to craft a little temporary set for photos.

13 Questions
Answering these because I love doing fun surveys! Feel free to repost with your own answers, and let me know if you do because I like reading others' answers too 😊
Put your music player of choice on shuffle and list the first 10 songs - Gravitational Constant by Type O Negative, Broken Vows by Pentagram, Queen of the Dead by Virgin Steele, A Soul for the Devil by Wolf, Secret of Steel by Manowar, On A Wicked Night by Danzig, Excalibur by Stormwitch, Vampyre Love by Pentagram (I love these guys, okay?), Serpentia by Danzig (I love him too lmao), Walking in the Dark by Pagan Altar.
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Would you take anyone with you? - I have wanted to visit Japan since I was a kid, and one day I'd love to see the pyramids of Egypt in person... So either of those. I would take my best friend with me, we would have a blast together I'm sure.
What is your preferred writing implement? (eg. Blue pen, pencil, green pen) - A really fancy ink pen my boss gave me as a thank-you gift. I use it for everything.
Favourite month and why? - October. The weather is usually gorgeous and it's not too hot or too cold. I love the colors, the atmosphere... It's the perfect month, and nobody can convince me otherwise!
Do you have connections to any celebrities (even minor)? List them. - I do but I wouldn't feel right naming names even if they're not super well-known where I'm from. I've had a couple good penpals over the years though :) For something I can mention, someone I know knows Keanu Reeves, but I've never met him or anything.
Name 3 items you could pick up from where you are. - My favorite coffee mug (it looks like a cute little ghost), my tarot deck, and my cell phone.
What brand logo is closest to you currently? - An Xbox logo
Do you ever play board games or other non-computer games? Got any favourites? - I used to play Clue all the time when I was growing up. It's still a favorite but I haven't played it in a while.
A musical artist you love that isn’t well known - I love the band Virgin Steele (idk if they're well-known outside of people who listen to metal). The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Part 1 is glorious!!
A musical artist you love that is well known - Siouxsie and the Banshees!
What is your desktop background currently? - Artwork of two sparrows with flowers, stars, and a crescent moon.
Last person you talked to, and through what you talked to them - My best friend, and we talked about tarot (of course)!
First colour name you can think of that isn’t in the rainbow - Periwinkle

Traditional art supplies I like: ✨Cheap Edition✨
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤
I noticed my last post had a lot of more expensive materials, which are great if you save up or are able to get them more easily, but I figured I’d make another post about more affordable materials for my friends out there who don’t have access to an employee discount at a craft store like I do, or family members who like to give gift cards and such!
Pens:
1. I mentioned this in my last post, but ballpoint pens will never fail you. I recommend BIC if at all possible. You can get a pack of 60 in red, blue, and black for around 6 bucks, as well as just a 60 pack of one of those colors for the same price. You can get some really nice shading out of these, surprisingly, and a pack that big will last you years!
2. Paper mate flair felt tip pens. I used to love these growing up!! They still hold up pretty well, and have the same basic effect as, say, a tombow brush pen, which is my favorite. A pack of 3 in black is around $3-4, which is half the price for a pack of tombows! You can also get them in a lot of different colors. A 12 pack in rainbow is about 12 bucks. If a dollar per pen seems a little much, trust me- if you’re able at all to save up for these guys, they’ll last forever and won’t let you down!
3. I also mentioned pentel sign pens in my last post, and they are just slightly more expensive than the paper mate flair. You can get a box of 12 for $14, which is still more on the expensive side, but if you’re able to then these guys are really fun to use and really reliable!
Pencils:
1. In the school supply section of walmart, you can get a pack of generic HB pencils. They usually have either stars, pastel or neon colors, or are holographic on the barrel. Especially in the back to school season, go and get you a pack of these; any sharpener will do. They are surprisingly soft and lay down pretty dark! I get a pack every year and they never fail me. A pack of 20 is only a couple dollars. (Dixon and ticonderoga I do NOT recommend. Ticonderoga has great colored pencils, but their regular pencils are WACK. They’re way too hard so their lines are way too weak for my taste. As for dixon, they don’t erase cleanly, and splinter when they sharpen. No bueno.)
2. BIC mechanical pencils. These are probably the best mechanical pencils on the cheaper side. They write nice and dark, and you can get a pack of 40 for about 8 bucks, which will last you literally years!! Just like their ballpoint pens! If you really want a good cheap sketching set, I’d get a pack of their ballpoint pens and pencils. Basic as basic gets, but it’ll get you far.
3. For colored pencils: I swear, you can never go wrong with crayola. They’re not the softest or most pigmented, but when you’re balling on a budget they’re perfectly fine! I also love crayola crayons. They are my #1 most favorite affordable art material!
Markers:
1. Back to crayola: crayola super tips markers. These are PERFECT for sketching. You can layer the colors pretty nicely with these, and they start out nice and transparent, almost like watercolor. With the shape of the nib, which is almost cone shaped, you can get some pretty nice line variation! I recommend a pack of 50, which is around 7 bucks, and if you’re feeling really fancy, a pack of 100 is about 14 bucks.
2. Artist’s loft fundamentals triangle markers. When I was in high school, I had a pack of these that I wore absolutely ragged. They are pretty much always worth it, and also perfect for sketching. I even still have a set today, along with the super tips! They’re just that good! These babies are skinner than the super tips, so they’re more like the width of a pen, but not exactly like the penmate flair, which you can press down like a brush. With these you can also take a brush with water and use them like watercolor pencils and get some beautiful results! A pack of 36 is about $5 at michael’s. Probably one of the best purchases you could ever make at that price and I cannot recommend them enough, no matter how experienced you are.
3. For alcohol markers: Ohuhu is fantastic. They’re a bit on the pricier side, but that’s mostly because alcohol markers usually are compared to water based markers. A pack of 60 is usually around $20 on amazon, which is how much I got mine for, but I just checked and they’re about $25. Don’t panic though- prices change all the time! The colors on these are absolutely lovely, and it comes with a nice carrying case with a handle, and a plastic sheet you can place underneath the paper you’re working on so it doesn’t bleed through to your desk or the next page of your sketchbook. Absolutely worth the price tag. Ohuhu also has water based markers for slightly cheaper, but I can’t speak for those since I haven’t tried ‘em.
4. Sharpie is a household name, and there’s a reason why! I don’t always prefer them since at times they CAN be overpriced, but depending on which set you get, the price tag becomes more reasonable. For regular black, I recommend getting a pack of 6 with 2 chisel tips, two fine (regular) tips, and two ultra fine tips for around $7. They last forever, and that way you’re getting a pretty wide range of lines you can get! As for their colored markers, I honestly can’t recommend them as much since I find their colors to be a little darker than I’d personally prefer as compared to the ohuhu markers, but if you so choose you can get a pack of 12 for about $9 on amazon! My favorite color has to be the fuchsia. No matter what they’re fun to color with and easy to obtain just about anywhere!
Sketchbooks:
What’s this? A sketchbooks section? (You didn’t have that in your previous post, Cricket! Well, no, I did not, but I’ll have to fix that soon!)
1. Artist’s loft hardbound sketchbooks. You can get these at michael’s for about $6, and they pretty frequently go on sale for bogo or bogo 50%. The paper is actually super nice, a little on the smoother side, and just thick enough where you’ll feel pretty fancy using it, and also not guilty if you need to tear out a page. They’ve got classic black, and also currently they have a lovely pink, blue, and green. The inner cover page is the same color as the cover, and it gives for a more professional, almost published feel. They come in 6x9 and 9x12 sizes. Artist’s loft is generally a pretty reliable, affordable brand!
2. Pacon sketch diary. If you prefer spiral bound, these guys are also pretty nice! They’re about $5, and there are other similar generic brand sketch diaries you can get that will never lead you astray. Walmart has some pretty good ones too for around the same price, and some even have a clear plastic pocket on the front where you can insert whatever you like!
3. Spiral bound notebooks are easily accessible, and during back to school season in certain places you can get them for a dollar or less. There’s no shame in needing to use lined paper! It works just as good as other paper when it comes to needing to draw something, and no matter what your art is your art, no matter what materials you use! I love getting lisa frank notebooks or notebooks with puppies or kittens on them during the back to school season. (Walmart back to school season SLAPS for cheap art supplies if you can’t tell already.)
4. Daler-rowney simply soft cover sketchbook, 3.5x5.5 in. I list this one because it’s the nicest cheapest sketchbook you can get at Walmart for about 2 bucks. It’s a much smaller size and very flat so you can keep it in your pocket or bag and take it with you. The hardbound 5x7 is also super nice, and it used to be my ultimate top choice. It’s about $4-5. I would get one like once every 3 months, and if you’re able to afford it, they’re great for stocking up and great to take with you anywhere. The paper is a pretty unusual texture that I haven’t seen anywhere else, and in my experience there’s very little transference from one page to another if you’re using pencil, which is always pretty annoying and great to avoid when you can.
5. Royal and langnickel essentials hardbound sketchbook. I came across this one when I was shopping at Ross. Yeah, Ross!! A good tip for cheap art supplies is to check Ross! I’ve gotten some pretty great things from the art section there for very cheap. Since it’s a discount store though, it’s usually a crap shoot regarding what you might find. These sketchbooks have pretty similar paper to the daler and rowney, and you can get a 4x6 for about $3 at Walmart. A larger one, depending on where you look, has pretty inconsistent pricing, but when I was at Ross I found some 9x12’s for 2.99. Although I can’t promise you’ll have the same luck as I did!
Paints:
Watercolor:
1. Jerry Q watercolor palette. I had one of these right before I first tried gansai watercolors, which are my favorite and a little more expensive, but the set I had I kept for around 2 years with almost constant use. They can be a little light and not super pigmented, but if you’re able to get something like a spray bottle and wet them before hand, let the water soak in a little bit, they’re much easier to activate and you’ll get brighter colors out of them. They just need time to soften. You can get a 24 color set for $14, and a 36 set for $18. If you’re able to, I recommend the 36 set since that’s what I had, but 24 works just fine and it’ll be better for learning color mixing!
2. Rule of thumb is crayola is usually the way to go if you can’t afford much else. I will say the older formula for their watercolor paints was much better. Brand new is still good though, and you can’t go wrong with a regular 12 set. (I do NOT recommend prang, which is their similar competitor. Their paints are sticky as hell if you use too much.)
Acrylic:
Craftsmart or apple barrel craft paints. These guys were my first acrylics I ever used, and I still have some older pieces that I made with them that still hold up in my eyes today. They have a much different formula than most acrylics, and are powder based, so you’ll notice they sort of have a different texture. Careful not to glob it on too thickly, however! If you do the paint will form huge cracks in it when it dries. I’m pretty sure it’s because of the formula and that it shrinks when it dries, which can also make thinner paper buckle. Also, if you’re painting on paper, if the paper is on the smoother side, areas where the paint is thicker might crack and flake off. It’s still good reliable paint just as long as you’re able to avoid this! You can get a set of 16 colors for $11, or if you’re able to, a set of 36 for $25 at michael’s. You can also buy them individually if you’re only able to afford the primaries like red yellow and blue, or cyan magenta yellow and black (CMYK.) The individuals sell for about $1 each, and the craftsmart paints in particular come in a few different finishes like matte, satin, and metallic. I recommend just the matte to start with though.
Paper/canvas:
1. Canson XL watercolor paper. You can get a pad of 30 sheets in 9x12 at walmart for about $5. The 11x15, if you’re able to afford it, fluctuates from $10-18 depending on where you shop, but michael’s often has a sale on this particular brand of paper pads for bogo or bogo 50% off. They also now have spiral bound books of the same paper that you could tear the pages out of and display, or use as a watercolor sketchbook. Canson also has mixed media paper for about the same price, and the spiral bound book is a very popular choice for a sketchbook, although I’ve used it and I personally prefer the watercolor paper texture much more. If you like your paper on the smoother side though, the mixed media is probably the way to go!
2. Creatology is, I think, a michael’s brand of kids’ art supplies, and they honestly make some pretty nice paper. If you like to draw on thicker paper, they’ve got a paint pad that you could use as just mixed media or regular drawing paper. It’s nice and thick and smooth. Their watercolor paper is also pretty nice! The 9x12 pad is around $3, and has 40 sheets. It’s slightly thinner than the canson watercolor paper, but you get 10 sheets more and it’s cheaper! Also, most regular price items at michael’s (there are a few exclusions, such as their artist’s loft value canvas packs, and their sets of rolling shelves, and cricut products) can be discounted with a coupon! Pretty much every single day the site has a 20% off regular price items coupon, for in store and online (the online code is usually 20MADEBYYOU), so you can always get basically anything for a discount! If you have a rewards account, which you can access through the site or on the app, you’ll get points with the more you buy, and you’ll eventually get $5-10 vouchers! If you’re still trying to be frugal, it’s great for getting basically free items. But I digress.
3. Canvas is expensive as hell, I know. I barely buy it myself, and only started getting it recently, since I mostly worked on paper beforehand. But if you’d like to hang your work easily and are able to put pins/nails in your wall or use command strips, you could get a value pack of canvas from michael’s. I mentioned these before, and they’re one of the items that can’t be discounted with coupons, but they work great and you can get a pack of several at a time. Each pack is the same exact price- $12.99- so it’s easy to remember since it’s consistent. The smaller the size of the canvas, the more canvases you’ll get. For example, in a pack of 8x10, you get 10! If you want the best value and want to create more pieces for less, that’ll be what I recommend! You can also get canvas panels, which lay flat and are easier to store if you’re low on space. The best value there is a pack of 5, size 9x10, for $10. So, it’s not as much material for the price, but if you need the canvas to be smaller, that’ll work just fine!
4. Copy paper!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get a pack of copy paper!!!!!!!!!! It’s literally hundreds of sheets for very cheap, like $5 or less!! Walmart has a pack of 500 for $5. That’s 100 sheets for a dollar. While it won’t work well with paints, it’s great for drawing with basically any drawing material. It’s thin and more fragile than most art paper, but if you need to discard it you won’t feel bad, and there’s literally another sheet right there if you gotta start again. I had a period where I would only basically draw on copy paper when I lost access to free art materials from art school, and it’s fantastic for sketching. Just get a cheap paper folder for about 50 cents to keep your drawings safe, and you’re golden. It’s also great if you don’t wanna use lined paper but can’t afford a sketchbook.
As for digital art; digital is often the most affordable option for a lot of folks, since it requires only, at the minimum, a computer or phone and a drawing program. I’m not as experienced with digital art, but I highly recommend the XP pen tablet. It’s a 4x7 inch little usb tablet, and you can get one on amazon for $20. One purchase that will last you a long time! I’ve had mine for 2 years now, and I haven’t even had to replace the nib yet! For a drawing program, I recommend Krita, which is the only art program I’ve ever used other than microsoft paint 3D. It’s completely free, and has some really lovely brushes. My absolute favorite is the 4B pencil tool, which I use for basically every single digital drawing I make, no joke.
I’d like to also mention that if you’re not able to buy art supplies at all, recycling is a great way to gain materials! Go dumpster diving! Cut open a cereal box and draw on the inside! Draw on old envelopes! Paint on cut open cardboard boxes! Borrow a pencil or pen from a friend! There is sooooo much waste in this country (USA), and even if you’re not on a budget, if you’re able to reduce and reuse, you’ll feel better about reducing your carbon footprint and giving back to the planet.
Lastly, I just wanna say that you don’t need fancy materials to make wonderful art. Nice art materials are good to have, but they’re absolutely not a requirement. You don’t need to pay thousands upon thousands of dollars to go to art school, most often just to get torn down by instructors who don’t care about you or your well being. YOU know what’s best for yourself. Do what feels right. Make art however and whenever you like. Make it for yourself. Learn from yourself and which materials you prefer. I’ve been making art for a long time so I’ve tried a lot of things and a lot of materials, hence why I can make these recommendations, but you might discover something completely different that you really love! Materials do not make the artist, full stop. The art you make will always be valuable and important, no matter what. If you’re still in school, live at home, don’t have a job, or are just not able to buy art supplies for whatever reason, there’s always, always a way to make art. You might have to get a little creative in finding out ways to make art, but I promise you there’s always a way. If later in life you’re able to afford having art as a hobby or a career, you’ll look back on the time you could only access these cheaper materials, and cherish the work you made then. Especially if you’re just starting out, and by the time you’re able to afford higher quality materials, you’re a more experienced artist. I personally think it’s so important to remember where you’ve come from, so you can feel proud of yourself as you grow. There’s nothing more fulfilling than looking back on everything you’ve done and the improvements you’ve made throughout your journey. And like I said, you don’t need to spend thousands on art school to learn. The internet is an amazing resource for tutorials, and there’s no shame at all in using any resource you can to learn and expand your skillset. You deserve to create. You deserve to learn. You deserve to feel proud of yourself and what you make.

You wanted to hate Sana. You wanted to resent her, wanted her to be a bitch. But she wasn’t. She was beautiful, and kind, and she just wanted to date Tooru Oikawa. Who were you to blame her for that?
“What is your skincare routine?” Sana asked. She pulled you closer, eyeing you as if she could see into your soul. “You have to tell me what you do with your skin.”
“Only if you tell me what hair products you use.” You told her before thinking. Sana also happened to be very easy to talk to.
She turned to Oikawa, smiling with her hand wrapped around yours. “I’ll see you later, babe, but right now I’m going to get some incredible insight. I might steal her from you.”
Oikawa just stood there. You had never seen him more confused in your entire life. He looked out of place. Like he wasn’t expecting things to happen the way they were. “Go for it.” He said. Stoic.
Sana basically dragged you away, arm in arm. She was taller than you, so you had to put in effort to keep up (something you happened to be very good, all your friends were giants). The two of you spoke nonsense about skin and hair and some other things you couldn’t remember.
“You know, I was scared to meet you.” She told you as you stopped in front of her locker. You gaped. “I know, I know. I just didn’t want you to blame Tooru for not telling you about us. I asked him not to.”
“Can I ask why?”
She giggled. It was soft. “I wanted you to like me.” She pulled out a book and shoved it into her bag. “I needed the soulmate stamp of approval.”
“..Soulmate?”
“You’re kidding, right?” Sana turned to you. Her hair flipped over her shoulder as she did, her bangs never leaving the perfect place across her forehead. “You guys are literally inseparable. You and Tooru. A lot of us joke about how the universe put you guys together, platonic soulmates.”
Platonic soulmates, she said.
“I couldn’t possibly let myself be with him if you didn’t like me.” Sana continued, not really gauging how you were responding. “That’s why he hasn’t really talked to you. I’m so sorry for that, I shouldn’t have told him to keep his distance.”
“I guess I just thought he was mad at me.” You told her. Again without thinking. “We’ve never gone this long without talking, ever. And he was…” you paused. “He asked me for his jersey back and I didn’t really..”
“He asked you for his jersey back?” Sana slammed her locker shut. “I swear I’m going to kill him.”
She mumbled something about how he doesn’t listen. You stood beside her, hands at your sides.
“I literally told him not to do that.” She told you. “He offered me the jersey, and I told him that it was not my place as his girlfriend of a god damn week to take a jersey you’ve worn for years. He’s an idiot. Keep it, I’m serious.”
You didn’t know what to say.
You wanted to hate her, you really did. You tried to find a flaw, something to stick to, but nothing came up. God how you wanted her to be a bitch.
“You don’t hang out with girls often, do you?” She asked. You were walking to class now, her arm linked with yours as her bag hung over her other shoulder.
“I only hang out with ‘Kawa and the boys.” You shrugged.
“Well consider me your official girl best friend. Starting now.” Sana stopped, gasping as though she came to a sudden realization. “Oh my god! We should go to the mall together this weekend!”
You shifted your backpack on your shoulders. “I.. I don’t think..”
“Oh, come on! It’ll be super fun.” She continued, her face lighting up. “We can even have a sleepover after! Please!”
“I’ll have to talk to my parents… I..” You gave up trying to make her the Bad Guy. “Yeah. That sounds fun. We can stay at mine, if you don’t care.”
Sana sent you the brightest smile. “I can’t wait. I’ll see you later?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Your arms were unlinked, you heading down a different hallway to your class. “Oh, and Sana?”
“Yes?”
“You have the soulmate stamp of approval.” You turned around before you could see her response.
Tumblr media
“You’re not mad at him?” Iwaizumi asked you. “How are you not livid right now?”
“I am mad.” You twisted a pencil in your hand. “But I’m more mad at him for completely ignoring me than having a girlfriend.”
“If I were you I would beat the shit out of him.” Matsukawa spoke up from beside you. He gasped. “Oh my god, I can beat his ass for you. Do you want me to?”
You chuckled. “I’m flattered, but no. Not worth your time or energy.”
The three of you were in the library during lunch, again. You know you should go back to the cafeteria, find a new spot at the lunch table (your previous spot next to Oikawa, in between him and Iwa at the circle tables). But the three of you liked to have a break and just hang out and talk shit at lunch. It became a thing between you and Iwaizumi, but you were happy to have Matsukawa join.
“Speaking of me being pissed off,” you changed the topic. “I’m pissed off that I’m the only one who knows about you two? Um, hello? When will you guys just say you’re dating and get it over with?”
“Hanamaki knows, though his suspicions are unconfirmed.” Matsukawa said.
They were official, you knew. The two of them never told you “hey we’re dating!” or anything like that, but you knew. The same way Iwaizumi knew you were (are) in love with Oikawa. And, it doesn’t held that both of them call each other nicknames and have each other as “bf” with about three trillion hearts in their phones.
“We’re going to wait.” Iwaizumi said. He wasn’t uncomfortable. “I have to tell my parents first. Then we can tell everyone.”
“Oh shit, I’m sorry Iwa I didn’t even think…”
“Seriously, don’t apologize.” He smiled at you. “You just want us to be happy. And right now, we are with what we have.”
Matsu put his arm around your shoulder from beside you. You were happy for them, too. Though the same couldn’t be said the same about your love life.

Tooru Oikawa invented a game when the two of you were kids. It was a stupid game, and you were pretty sure it was just a game he found while playing with other kids, but it was so fun to you.
You would invite kids over, including Iwaizumi, and would play it all the time in your backyard. The game was simple. Someone was the Catcher, and whoever was Catcher had to stand with their back to the players as the players stood against your house. The Catcher would then shout out a color, and if a player was wearing that color, they would have to run to Oikawa’s house (and touch it) before the Catcher caught them. Oikawa called it “Rainbow”.
One day while playing, Oikawa caught you while you were sprinting. He snatched you by the waist and basically bear hugged you. Everyone was a giggling mess, as kids are.
“Got you!” Kid Oikawa exclaimed. “Got you, got you! You’re it!”
Sometimes, you wished you had the ability to see when you grew up.
Tumblr media
Sana ended up becoming a pretty decent acquaintance, despite only knowing her for a day. She was very nice, and extremely fun to talk to. Sana just wanted a girl friend; and after talking to her, maybe that’s what you wanted too.
You were walking in the hallway with her, arms linked as Sana preferred, talking nonsense about classes and the game that night. It was the beginning of the day, so the halls were filled with people who weren’t in class still.
“Are we still on for tonight and tomorrow?” she asked you.
“Yeah. If you’re cool with staying at my house, I think my parents were excited to hear me bring a friend whos a girl over.” You said.
“Oh my god, yes. That sounds perfect!” She nudged you with her arm.
“Okay.” You thought for a second. “If you like to drink, we can get some bottles or wine coolers or something before going home. I know a place.”
“That’s the best idea I’ve ever heard.”
You stopped in front of your class and she unlinked your arms. “I’m not kidding when I tell you that I’m excited. I’ve told you before that I was nervous about meeting you when I started dating Tooru, but you’re so cool. Thank you.”
“You’re thanking me?” you laughed. “For what?”
“For being the coolest friend to Oikawa.” A bell. “I got to go to class, if I get another tardy my parents will have my head. But I’ll see you at the game! Wear the jersey!”
She sent you a wink before heading to class.
“Thank you!” you called, and she turned around. “For being the coolest girlfriend to Oikawa.”
Tumblr media
After school, Iwaizumi came over. They had a bit of time before the game, so most of the guys like to come home to eat a little bit or hype themselves up.
Like most days, you were sprawled out on your floor as he sat up against some random object in your room. That day, it was your dresser. He was exhausted, and you could tell.
“Iwa, can we be serious for a minute?” you asked.
“I was going to ask you the same thing.” he said, and you sat up. “You’re in love with him. You’ve been in love with him for years. How did you know?”
Your eyes flickered between his. “What do you mean? I thought you already asked this before.”
“No, no.” he was nervous to ask you. “No, how did you know that you were in love with him? Like what does that feel like?”
You couldn’t hold back a gasp and a smile. “Oh my God! Hajime Iwaizumi, you’re in love!”
“No..”
“Yes you are!”
The teasing went on like that for a while. It went on and on, the both of you giggling and bickering about teenage love. You didn’t remember exactly how it ended up like this, your head resting on his lap and Iwaizumi’s hand in your hair. You felt your friendship with him, in that moment.
“I think I am, in love with Matsu I mean.”
“I think you are too.” You spoke. “I see the way you two are with each other. The glances and feeling. He definitely loves you too.”
“We’ve been together way longer than when you found us in the closet.”
“I know.”
“Are you still in love with him?’
A pause. “Yeah.”
“He’s an idiot.”
“’Kawa may be the stupidest person I know.”
“…but..?”
“No but. He’s just the stupidest person I know.”
A chorus of laughter. You didn’t even hear yourself, didn’t hear Iwa. You missed this.
You also didn’t hear Oikawa come in, and didn’t notice him standing at your doorway.
“Right.” Oikawa said, bringing a silence to the room. He just turned and left.
You stared at the now-empty doorway. You didn’t remember when you sat up.
“Go.” Iwaizumi pushed you at your waist. “Go get him.”
Without thinking, you rushed out of your room and down the stairs. You finally caught up to him outside, in the middle of your houses.
“Are you ever going to talk to me?” You called. You were angry, upset.
Oikawa’s back was toward you. He wasn’t walking, but you didn’t get any closer. It was like talking to a fucking brick wall.
“There’s nothing to talk about.” He said simply.
“We almost kissed, ‘Kawa.” You said. Your hands were in fists at your sides, shaking. “We almost kissed. And you haven’t talked to me, haven’t even looked at me since. You don’t get to be mad at me. You don’t get to be mad I’m hanging out with Iwa when you haven’t talked to him either. And you can’t hide behind Sana asking you to not tell me about you two, not anymore. Please just talk to me.”
“Like I said.” He still had his back toward you. “Nothing to talk about.”
With that, he walked back to his house. You stayed on the sidewalk until you felt Iwaizumi pull you back to reality.
Tumblr media
You were pretty sure that anger took over every emotion that night. As you sat at the game, in that stupid fucking jersey you put on as routine, you stared daggers at the floor from the bleachers. You weren’t even in the student section.
You were slouched in the bleacher, arms crossed, when you felt a body sit next to you.
“You seem far too pissed off to be watching a volleyball game.” The boy told you. “A game you’re winning.”
You stole a glance, not leaving your slouched position between the bleachers. He was cute, dark hair and definitely tall (though it could just be because you were sitting). He wasn’t even looking at you, so you turned your eyes back to the court.
He offered you an already open bag of chips, holding them in front of you.
“You don’t go here.” You ignored his offering.
“You’re not wrong.” He looked at you. “I’m here from another school. Trying to see what some friends of mine are up against.” You finally looked up at him. “What’s your name?”
You deadpanned. “What’s yours?”
“I asked you first.”
“Second the best, first the worst. I win.” You said. “What’s your name?”
The boy set his bag of chips down and held out his hand. “I’m Kuroo, Tetsurou Kuroo.”

Mario Kart with the Dekusquad
Word Count: 923
Warnings: None.
Headcanon: How good is the Dekusquad at playing Mario Kart, and who do they play as?
Characters: Midoriya, Todoroki, Iida, Uraraka, Asui.
Author’s Note: Everyone likes Mario Kart, a nice competitive game that you can play with friends, competing for the gold trophy (#notsponsored), so why not write about how the Dekusquad plays?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya:
Plays Luigi, or if he’s taken, Baby Luigi or Yoshi.
Not because of the green aesthetic, just because they have pretty solid stats.
The squad doesn’t leave him on character select too long, or he’ll go through every character and calculate the best possible character with the best possible cart.
He’s surprisingly bad at Mario Kart for someone who knows all the shortcuts, best places to boost, and tricks of the game.
It’s because of his horrible luck with items.
Even in last place, when you’re supposed to get good power-ups like stars and Bullet Bills, he gets a single banana or green shell.
So even when he uses all his Mario Kart knowledge, he still can’t get ahead because somehow Uraraka got a star power up and won the whole game.
Midoriya is in dead last, crossing his fingers as he approaches the item box. Everyone hears the jingle tune of the item box deciding Midoriyas fate, and everyone starts to chant for Midoriya to get a great power-up, Bullet Bill.
“Bullet Bill, Bullet Bill, Bullet Bill, Bullet Bill, Bullet Bill!!!!”
Midoriya, along with everyone else, sees the green shell that has landed in his racers hands.
“OH COME ON-”
Todoroki chimes in to try and liven the mood.
“At least the color matches your racer.”
Tumblr media
Shoto Todoroki:
Plays Toad or Shy Guy, and it is because of the aesthetic.
He prefers to just sit back and watch people play, but sometimes people will ask to race him.
Almost always it’s because someone just lost a race, and needs to play Todoroki to destress. He’s really bad at Mario Kart (because he doesn’t play much), and almost never wins, and doesn’t rage quit when he loses, so people like playing with him to destress after a hard race they lost.
He does get frustrated when a green shell hits him, because like… it’s a green shell, you have to aim that thing.
Todoroki has his race cut-off before he can cross the finish line, landing him with an 8th place spot. Asui pumps her fists in victory, crossing the finish line in 2nd place.
“Thanks, kero-kero. Losing that race to Denki made me a little angry.”
“... so… how did you win?”
“I just finished the race faster than you, Todoroki.”
“... I see… good game, Tsu.”
Tumblr media
Tenya Iida:
Plays Lakitu or Rosalina (Rosalina mainly if he’s going for stats, not just for fun).
The squad tried just not letting him see the stats, it didn’t work. He spent 2 hours going through every cart combo and character select… he settled on Lakitu.
He’s pretty good at Mario Kart, if he wins he gets super pumped about it, but if he loses he questions every decision, ever.
Iida just gets really into Mario Kart, really, really into it.
Drifting along one of the final turns in Rainbow Road, Iida’s only barely in first, followed by Uraraka. Lucky for the brunette, she throws out her red shell, hitting Iida directly, causing him to fall off the course. Iida, knowing this will cost him the race and the tournament, loses his mind. In a moment of pure rage, he throws the controller behind him, luckily being caught by Todoroki.
Uraraka, having won the race, slowly pans over to Iida. “... good race?”
Iida tries his best to come up with an answer. “IT WAS A GREAT RACE. THANK YOU URARAKA- wait did I break that controller?”
Tumblr media
Ochako Uraraka:
Plays Daisy or King Boo (King Boo because of the floating animation).
She is an absolute luck charm at Mario Kart.
Every time she picks up an item box, it’s the best item she can possibly get.
She isn’t even that good at racing, she’s just good at getting good items, it’s incredible, Midoriya has added it as a possible quirk.
The only problem is she drives off the map so frequently that she keeps losing the items she gets-
She’s perfectly fine with losing, except for one time Todoroki beat her in a race somehow, and she didn’t talk to him for 3 days.
“Uraraka, I’m sorry for beating you in that race, but I need a pencil. Can you please lend me a pencil?”
“...”
“Please.”
“...”
“Uraraka.”
“...”
“... Midoriya-”
Tumblr media
Tsuyu Asui:
Plays Yoshi if it isn’t taken by Midoriya, Koopa Troopa, or Metal Mario.
She’s probably the best overall player, she’s got a good skill range, knows some shortcuts, plays with good stats, stays on track, and is a good sport no matter if she wins or loses.
She always gets the job of comforting the loser and supporting racers in the moment.
She also takes frequent breaks to get snacks, blankets, and pillows so the game night can really start.
The real champion of game night, honestly.
“Kero kero, good race guys, I’ll be right back.”
*five minutes later*
Midoriya pans over, who took a break from racing, and sees Asui with at least 10 blankets and 10 pillows.
He speaks up, “A-Asui! Here, let me help you carry those. Why did you bring so many?”
“Because I need them to destroy you at the Bowsers Castle race, kero. Thanks for the help carrying these!”
“... of course, Asui-”

Ranking the bosses of Origami King
I have stated many many MANY times that Origami King is my favorite Paper Mario, hell, one of my favorite games of all time. And if some lunatic waltzes into my house and gives me a choice of either liking TTYD or die, I’d rather be dead. But what’s the worst and best boss in the game? Today, we’re gonna rank all the bosses in Origami King. Also, it is recommended that you finish the game to view this post, cause this is a spoiler zone.
17. The Shifty Sticker, Tape
The most annoying and unfun boss to cap off a great tribute to Wind Waker fans, all the positives Tape got was having a bopping as hell music and a really great 1st phase. But that’s where the positives end, cause the 2nd phase is where it all goes downhill. Tape glues parts of the ring meaning you can’t slide panels and some parts of the rings are connected together. And when a lot of tapes are in the ring at once, it’s pretty annoying. And this may just be me, but when there’s too much tape in the arena, Tape straight up gobbles up the tape in the arena to restore HP and it is annoying as fudge. Oh and did I mention that to damage this boss, you’re forced to use the 1000 fold arms? And did I mention that any other form of offense is next to useless? Needless to say, this is one of the worst bosses I’ve had the pain to endure.
16. The Freezing Finisher, Ice Vellumental
The first phase of Snowy The Bear over here is surrounded by an icy forcefield and you must use the Fire Vellumental to melt down his barrier which is, pretty alright for a first phase (I mean your sliding is not locked this time so that’s a plus), but then, there’s Ice Maze to make up for all that fun. For those of you unknowing fools out there, Ice Maze is an ability of this guy where large parts of the arena are covered in ice, and the only way to get through it is find a way to the Action Panel or an active Fire Vellumental Magic Circle without being frozen so you (kinda) won’t have to endure his greatest attack, Ice Age. Problem is, that even for me, who has a strong memory, I can’t seem to solve it. Why this is less dreaded than Tape for me despite the monotony is that you can kinda cheese it without Fire Vellumental. By collecting coins, you can stock on Shiny Fire Flowers and basically fireball this boss to death (and they said coins are useless). Even so fuck this fight man.
15. The Blazing Bird, Fire Vellumental
This phoenix right here is possibly the smartest of the Vellumentals. Why is that, you ask? Easy. He lets you damage yourself. Using his special move, Hot Wings, he basically spreads his own wings (which takes a chunk of his health) and lets you damage yourself until you reach an Action Panel. Once you’re in the Action Panel, use your Iron Boots and jump the shit outta him until his feathers are all/almost gone. Then, use Water Vellumental to shower it to its doom, and lastly, for the coup de grace, pull off his hair and humiliate him in front of a bunch of Toads. The only reason this chicken wing is higher is because jumping him with Iron Boots is as fun, if not more fun than using the Fireballs to cheese the Ice Vellumental.
14. The Apocalyptic Abomination, Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle
By far the most gruesome thing in Paper Mario franchise, it starts off with you hammering the Dry Bone heads it spews out using Kamek’s magic. Then, after enough heads were smashed, Kamek reveals himself and you have to pull him outta the beetle’s nose which is more satisfying than it should be. And then after that, you smash him in the gut 4 times to win. Needless to say, it had its moments.
13. The Elastic Entertainer, Rubber Band
4 numbers later and we are back to the Legion Of Stationary. This time, it’s Rubber Band. While I can see why people like this boss, keep in mind I’m doing all these on a no Game Over run, which makes the boss less fun for me. The Bumper Bands are a mere nuisance, but get caught in Rubber Bind and kiss your health goodbye. Solo Snapback isn’t much better either, for that attack, pray you have a 1 Up left or at the very least can endure that attack or say goodbye to your health. However, despite doing this on a no Game Over run is hell, why is it this high though? you may ask, well, simply put, the Rubber Bands are better projectiles than the Hot Wings, Icicles, and Tape combined.
12. The Chaotic Cactus, Mega Paper Macho Pokey
Tower Power Pokey is back, but this time, he’s made some changes to the battlefield. Now, instead of fighting in some egyptian temple, you fight him inside of a tornado. This segmented spiky monstrosity has 3 attacks. Creating tornadoes, stalking you from underground, and trying to squash you with its body. This time, to defeat him, instead of using some Baseball Bat sticker bullshit, you must wait until his glow fades and approach him with the Boot Car so you can deliver the smackdown. And, pro tip : if I were you, I wouldn’t get caught in the twisters.
11. The Groundshaking Gut-Slammer, Earth Vellumental
God to all Koopas, the Earth Vellumental is pretty fun for a tutorial boss. You use your hammers to smash its limbs till eventually you hit its tender tail, and it’s more fun than it had any right to be. Once the tail is pounded to perfection, flip it with your 1000 fold arms and smack the living daylights out of it.
10. The Trial Of Toughness, Scuffle Island Boss Rush
An optional boss accessible in Chapter 4, the Scuffle Island Boss Rush is fun for a miniboss rush. You get 7 tough Paper Macho opponents ; Goomba, Shy Guy, Koopa, Boo, Paratroopa, Stone Spike, and Buzzy Beetle, each bearing 2 more hitpoints than the ordinary Paper Macho enemies and having a large attack boost. It’s a test of learning the patterns of the Paper Machos and is way more fun than it has any right to be. Although the Paratroopa did gave me some troubles, like, seriously, if you beat this guy’s 1st phase without a guide, you’re a pro.
9. The Stormy Guardian, Boss Sumo Bro
A clever reference to NSMBU and Super Mario World, Boss Sumo Bro stands on his mighty thundercloud at first, until you take out his goonies. Then, once you’re done with his goons, he’ll charge up his unblockable Mega Thunder attack and to stop it, you must use the Fire Vellumental to take him down. It’s admittedly pretty fun.
8. The Missile Maestro, Colored Pencils
One of the most fun tutorial bosses, Colored Pencils has a simple but really fun 1st phase. You have to close its lid to pull off a Fire Vellumental, and on the 2nd phase, it gets better. You have to use his Rainbow Roll against him and smack the living daylights out of him. It’s a great boss, buut problem is, it’s a tutorial boss. It had not much of a chance to make it to the top 5.
7. The Final Destination, Paper Plane Strike Force
This game consists of you shooting a bunch of Bob Ombs to pave the way to the final level of the game Origami Castle, which is, much sadder than it may seem. It’s fun as heck shooting down the paper planes, and the Squadron where you have to shoot like a million Bob Ombs to its face is by far personally the most fun part of the game. Why it’s this low is that it’s one of the 2 non-rematchable bosses. Once you’ve gotten to Origami Castle, this minigame won’t be accessible anymore.
6. The Submarine Sinker, Water Vellumental
This overhydrated water dragon is one of the more strategic bosses. You must take note of the water twisters and prevent them from getting in your way of making it to the Action panel to jump him and hit him with the hammer. And then, once he’s gonna blow, make your way to the Earth Vellumental Magic Circle to dodge his Mega Wave attack, which is pretty powerful. It’s personally one of the more fun bosses this game had to offer. It’s not in the top 5 since the water twisters can be pretty annoying though I never had a problem with them personally.
5. The Disco Devil, Hole Punch
The groovy lobotomiser’s 1st phase is pretty annoying, you have to find his tender spot to deal decent damage to him, while having a reduction in health,  but slamming the ever loving shit outta him when he tried to pull off his special attack is fun as hell. It makes up for the horrid 1st phase. And pulling off the rubber case as the finisher is waaayyy more fun than it needs to be. Also the music is a freaking jam.
4. The Tentacley Terror, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper
This Mario Sunshine nostalgia fest is hella fun. The 1st phase has you hammering his tentacles which is way more fun than it should be, and the 2nd phase has you hammering his eye, which is, again, way more fun than it should be. This boss is just really, REALLY fun.
3. The Dual Bladed Duelist, Scissors
One of the harder and more intense bosses, Scissors’ first phase is putting on a case for his blades for the sake of a fair fight, but once that’s done, it’s all intense, bloodpumping action from here. Scissors will use his unblockable special attack, Final Cut, and you must time your jumps to prevent an instant KO. I felt a strong urge of satisfaction when jumping over Scissors’ special attack countless times, it’s not even a laughing matter.
2. The Roshamboa, Handaconda
The first phase has you hammering him to get Olivia out of its grasp, and then, the 2nd phase is where the true fun begins. The Magic Circles are swapped with panels with images of Rock, Paper and Scissors and you must observe his hand patterns to get a chance to rush attack him with the 1000 fold arms. It feels so satisfying when you beat him in Roshambo and smash the living daylights out of him.
1. The Royal Rebel, King Olly
One of the best final bosses of all time, Olly is a culmination of what you have learned throughout your journey. The 1st phase consist of you retracing the weaknesses of the Vellumentals and using it against them, the 2nd phase consists of you slamming the ground to give Origami Bowser a helping hand in dealing the semi finishing blow towards Duraludon Olly, and the final phase has you fixing a jumbled up Giant Magic Circle while Olly bombards you with attacks that lead to quicktime events that are way more fun and dramatic than they had any right to be. Needless to say, Olly is the best boss in the Origami King.

allow me to rant about the only thing that has been in my brain for the past two months and that is doll customizing babeyyyyy
i know there’s a 90% chance that you wont give a Shit about any of this but here we go anyways
SO first you gotta choose a doll. preferably one with a high range of motion to avoid creating new joints or having annoying limitations like not having elbow joints for some fucking reason. what the fuck mattel. give monster high dolls back their ball jointed shoulders and elbow joints. smh
the most common dolls ive seen used as bases are monster high and ever after high. most customs ive seen are highly stylized so the stylized face molds work well for those types of dolls but dolls like barbies are good for when you want a more realistic face-ups.
once you’ve got your base picked out you gotta wipe that bitch’s face off with like. acetone or nail polish remover or something strong like that. you can also use acetone to shrink doll heads which is cool as hell imo. n e way once the face is wiped you gotta chop off the hair and remove the hair plugs from the inside. ive seen this done several ways but the easiest and most common way ive seen is to dunk the head into boiling water for ~30 seconds until it gets squishy and malleable. once you’ve got the head back, you can use pliers (i think tweezers would work in a pinch) to pull out the hair plugs which are kinda icky because theyre covered in glue and other gross shit. ew
now you must decapitate the doll. dunk em back in the boiling water to soften them back up then just tug the head off. the neck pegs look funky and are usually a different color than the body so thats cool ig
once the head’s off, you can start the face-up which is basically just giving the doll a new face using stuff like watercolor pencils, acrylic paint, gouache, and a whole lot of other stuff. hell ive seen people use person makeup on these dolls.
next,,,,, hair. there’s about twenty million ways to do hair from gluing yarn wefts to sewing to rerooting with purchased nylon doll hair or yarn wefts but i’m gonna talk about the most common one ive seen which is rerooting and gluing.
before you can reroot, you need doll hair. which, as i mentioned, can be bought at stores like the doll planet or made at home with yarn in literally any color. have fun with it! make rainbow hair or something idk
to make homemade wefts, you take some acrylic yarn, cut it twice as long as you want the hair to be (keep in mind you can cut and style the hair once it’s been rerooted), fold them in half, and tie it to something sturdy like a wire coat hanger for the next step.
once you’ve got your yarn tied to your hanger, use a pet brush and brush the yarn until it’s wispy and looks like hair. then take a straightening iron and iron the weft flat. then remove from the hanger and boom. hair wefts. ta-da
to reroot the wefts onto the head, use a rerooting tool (which can be as simple as a needle with the eye cut at angle) (just google it please i’m shit at descriptions)) to poke small sections of the hair into the head. you can use the pre-existing rooting holes for your own reroot as they’re usually pretty reliable. to reroot, take a small length of you doll hair (about 10-15 strands), loop it in half, and put the middle of the loop into the reroot tool. poke the end of the tool with the hair on it into the pre-existing hole and remove the tool. the hair *should* stay in and fill up that plug!! also remember to plug thickly at the hairline and part of the hair where it's most noticeable. it doesnt matter as much in the center of the head as that’s not usually visible on the doll. once you’ve rerooted, squeeze in strong glue through the neck hole and squish around the head to make sure it covers all the plugs and secures them in place. then pour hot water onto the head to make the hair lay flat for styling later.
also, you can reroot yarn directly into the head to make thicker, more textured hairstyles. and since the yarn is thicker, you dont need to glue the inside of the head for the hair to stay in place!!
if youre not doing body modifications (which are also cool as hell) then it’s time for clothes but clothes are boring and i like body mods more so i’m gonna rant about them instead
the material ive seen most doll artists use is apoxie sculpt, which is like play doh on steroids. it comes in two parts which you gotta mix together for some reason. why dont they sell it pre-mixed. what was the reason. also once it’s dry it’s super super strong and you can sand it, drill into it, paint it, and all kinds of stuff. very nice and i want some for myself.
you can use hand saws and drills and shit to whack off doll limbs to make stuff like digitigrade legs or new joints. also dont be afraid to use other mismatching doll parts when customizing like heads and bodies and forearms and hands and shit. it literally does not matter if youre gonna recolor the doll anyways so have fun with it. make frankenstein’s doll if youre feeling spicy
accessories my beloved. stuff like tiny beads and clay baubles and shit will literally transform the entire doll plus they’re adorable and multi-purpose
i suppose i must talk about clothes now. ah well. you can find great clothing patterns if youre new to customizing on other customizer’s etsy shops and probably google although those will probably be lower quality than paid pattern pieces. and keep in mind that if it exists as clothing irl, you can likely make it doll-sized. there are literally no limits to your clothing options as long as you can execute your idea.
the once all your components have been made, you can assemble the doll again!! and finally see what all the parts look like together!! very cool 10/10 stars.
ight that wraps up my doll rant. i could really go into more detail on certain parts but thats a whole other rant for a whole other day smh. sorry for fucking flooding your inbox ender ahaha……………. you asked for this
little did you know that dolls have been one of my favorite things since like ever. if i can read a 25 chapter long fanfic i can read this B)
mattel definitely fucked up by completely ruining MH doll designs and just stopping EAH, alot of their profits most likely came from people who collect and customize dolls and by changing MH doll designs/Stopping EAH dolls they 1. most likely lost a small (or big if we're not jus talking people who customize dolls) part of their profit and 2. made it harder for doll customizers to make dolls/get commissions out rather quickly because they probably have to waste more time making joints or learning how to make joints.
EAH/MH dolls (specifically MH dolls) had AMAZING MODELS because there was so much variety with height, face shapes, etc (my favorite molds had to be the short/tall dolls and the cat molds because of the tails) and doll customizers really went all out with enhancing a molds unique features. The only "downside" abt MH dolls is that they (or atleast most)(from what i remember)) had slimmer faces but wider eyes while EAH dolls have wider faces with slimmer smaller which left a canvas for the face and not the eyes (and vice versa for MH dolls)
I've never seen any videos where a barbie is customized (maybe because i absolutely despised barbies at the time) so I'll definitely have to check those out but they seem to be good for realistic makeovers. I've seen like like semi realistic makeovers for EAH/MH dolls that were pretty good too tho (pretty sure mostly EAH dolls since yk MH dolls were used for creature makeovers while most EAH dolls weren't)
yeah i was always amazed by the head shrinking with acetone. honestly i still am?? idunno i have no idea how that chemical bullshit works. Ive seen a few of uh makeovers that just pain over the face (in multiple layers ofcourse) but that's usually when they're painting the entire body a different colour (again usually when they're turning a doll into a funky little baby man). I've also seen a few that just chop the hair off and take out the hair plugs yk without uuh like softening the head or just go straight for the hair plugs after taking off the head (i used to do that it was funny to me??). i always really liked when they used watercolour pencils or just colour pencils in general to draw/sketch on the face cause like wow ur drawing on ur doll without ruining it?? kinda epic maybe even poggers and pogchamp?? oh god my brain is failing wjshsmsj.
Watching them putting the hair back on the doll was, other than the face stuff, was the BEST part for me. Favorite type of hair was iuuuuuh was either thick yarn or brushed out yarn. Literally worship the people that would reroot the hair, theyre the most patience people on this earth!! it's literally insane but i guess that's what happens when you've been doing that for years? you guess kinda get used to it. when they put glue into the head does it just become stiff?? like it's just a clump of dried glue or does it like..hollow out again??
dude you literally cannot convince me most of the supplies used for doll makeovers. APOXIE CLAY LOOKS SO FECKING GOOD. its edible and i will die on that hill. The body mods are literally so amazing!!!!! it's so impressive how theyre able to imagine certain features THEN LIKE ACTUALLY MAKE IT LOOK ACCURATE TO WHAT THEY WANTED TO LOOK LIKE AFTER LIKE ON TRY (or many yk trial and error is very necessary for..everything). Absolutely loved when doll customizers would saw off a dolls legs and use different ones or just completely get rid of the torso to use a different one. it's like uuh that one big guy that's mismatched and sewn together. very cool. The accessories are so fun!! just small little details you seen really need but can add because it's your feckin doll!! I used to be absolutely obsessed over the doll clothes i would find on etsy, so much so that i started sewing shitty shirts and dresses for my uh "customized" dolls (they were absolute HORRORS idk WHY my mom let me feck up my dolls like that).
Thank you for this!! i haven't been able to talk about any of my interests for a while and this just really made me happy!!
Question fer u my fellow MH/EAH enthusiast: what was your favorite MH/EAH movie/episode and doll series. Mine was The fusion dolls (MH obvi) and that MH movie "Haunted" cause we got to know more about Spectra :D

Some notes about Sharpy’s facial features
I meander for a while about drawing facial features, my novice sketching process, and the best drawn male eyes I’ve ever seen.
For fun, and because he is so adorable (sigh, I can’t trick anyone into thinking I’m not a girl gamer for five seconds--not that I want to but it’s pretty funny that I couldn’t for the life of me do it, oh well), I wanted to point out some things about this sketch (and a few Sharpen sketches I’ve done so far). I’m sure that others do this as well... To make Sharpen more unique and seem like an individual, I’ve placed some tell-tale features in every art of him that I do.
Curl in left eyebrow
“Elvis” curl at his hairline, helps make him seem playful and even himbo-ish, since that’s his personality
And I can’t explain it but the imperfect hair makes him seem more approachable, like any one of us
Tiny scar on his top lip on the left side. I haven’t decided headcanon for that scar yet; it’s just something that I really wanted to do. I think my pencil slipped once and I was like ‘Yaaaas, don’t change that!’
Square-ish forehead. You see the lines there as he turns his head
Some musculature over the eyes
Extremely careful little dots in specific places to indicate more musculature on face. Getting annoyed and erasing the dot and putting it back a milimeter further out is like... WHY do I do it? But I keep doing it, I want them
Lightly defined, high cheekbones (Trixany’s are so strong, I had to really train myself out of giving him super stand-out ones)
Boxier eyes... they do not at all resemble the original inspiration for these eyes when I started sketching him, but I maintained a little of the ‘mystery’ of unusual eyes and strong lashes on a guy (see more below)
Eyes set wide apart
Together, the larger, wide-set eyes give him a kind of baby face? That happened on its own, it wasn’t planned. Sometimes I can see the lil’ Gerber baby in there
A little divot at the top lining of his ears
What else... Well, Tumblr is here to let us indulge in our art and our creativity. I guess I just wanted to say I like how small details like these work together, almost as a unique fingerprint, to keep your character, especially their face, looking like... well, themselves.
Just curious--anyone out there want me to draw Sharpen in a specific setting? I’m getting better at it; I think I can take on a request, though I’m kind of intimidated. I don’t think I’ll do commissions at any point in time. But a prompt for sketching practice? Hell yeah.
These art pieces take me a really long time to do, but the way. I’ll outline something then get kind of exhausted or this uneasy feeling? Like I’m not sure if I really want this, or if it’s right? If it does feel right, then I’ll come back weeks later when I have free time, and at that point, sit for hours sketching and filling in everything else.
Then I get mad when all the little nuances I put on paper get lost when you scan... anyway.
Hope you guys are enjoying it!

Okay so I almost forgot--these are the prettiest, coolest eyes I’ve ever seen on a male character, ever. EVER. Obviously, I didn’t re-create these all the way (and not really at all) for Sharpen, but I did go with a boxier style, rather than completely round almond eyes. Gennosuke’s eyes were actually central to the plot of Basilisk, I found out later. Here’s another great pic of Gennosuke--now this wallpaper is badass. I remember I had this one for a long time; it was too, too perfect.
Now that’s the power of detail. Yes, there’s a sword and it shines and it’s at the heart of the picture. But the only thing you need, the only thing that matters in this entire artwork are actually those eyes. Blue and white coloring throughout, but then wow, those golden eyes. And the gold isn’t what does it really, it’s the powerful dark lashes that encircle them more like calligraphy, the eyebrows that unite with those... less human, more wild. The man is practically a tiger. That’s the kind of ferocity you’re hit with, the kind of wonder you’re filled with here.

Someone also clearly sat down and thought about how breathtaking it is when you’re right across the table from a guy with eyelashes longer than yours and then you feel that stab of jealousy, along with admiration. Sounds odd, but I think some folks out there know exactly what I mean...
It’s that split second before the instant crush happens. I try to make Sharpy’s eyes do that penetrating ‘instant crush’ thing whenever I draw him. Less because it’s sexy, more because it’s... personal? This is hard to explain. But it feels like he’s having a conversation with you and it’s okay that you’re there with him. He expects you to respond and participate; he thinks he’s your friend. I believe I draw Trixany’s eyes the same way if she’s not posed doing something over-the-top. If she’s just relaxing and sharing herself with you, then it’s a friendly, loving gaze.
The gym t-shirt sketch is the first time I didn’t make Sharpy ‘penetrate the camera’ as they say. It was hard not to redraw it so that he was... decided he was looking in the mirror or something instead.
When I look at Sharpen’s sketch at the very top of this post, I keep wanting him to stop looking elsewhere and look right at me. Right at the viewer. What a cool effect that is. What is that? I don’t know if it’s the context of the other drawings or what. Well, it’s not some magical work of art, only something curious I noticed.
Okay, I could ramble forever. I like art and I like to write so that’s a super-intense combination. I’d love for other artists on here to talk about their process, actually write it out and blather on creatively like I just did. It’s fun. And you learn about somebody’s personality too.
Yes, it’s definitely nice to talk about sketching and the special rainbow of things that go into it sometimes.
Tah!

the newsies favorite school supplies
yes i know it’s stupid but we all have a favorite thing to get at target in mid august so shut up.
Jack: As a little kid he was obsessed with water colors but now he is a fuckin notebook junkie like he has fav brands & prefers different page counts & spiral or comp depending on brand
Davey: This boy is all about them flash cards. he even has this little coupon organizer that he uses as a mini binder to separate the different flash cards by class.
Les: he loves pencil sharpeners. like he’ll just sit and sharpen pencils while watching tv or while talking to people. it’s like a hobby. and one time davey got him an electric one & he went fuckin nuts
Race: race writes exclusively in fine point sharpie. nothing else. tests, notes, fake tattoos, all of em in the tiny dark lines
Albert: my boy really likes eRASERS! like he has messy handwriting and writes super dark so he has like tested them all to see which works best and goes through like two a month.
Crutchie: this boy loves sticky notes!!! he is forgetful so he likes to write things down on them. and he also writes his friends little notes on them. (oh and when he’s done with them he R E C Y C L E S)
Spot: this kid loves his rulers. Like in elementary he had one of those snap-bracelet rulers?? and now he just has a wood one and he just carries it around everywhere, to every class. Like he will color on it or point with it or drum with it or just balance it on his fingers when he’s bored. oh and measure shit lol.
Specs: tape! he often will like use tape to keep his glasses together until he can get new ones, but he also just likes to carry it bcuz someone always needs it & also someone’s poster is always unsticking from the wall so he always has tape in his pocket to stick it back up. He also carries patterned tape (washy tape?) that he decorates things with.
Sarah: my girl loves her pen. Not pens. PEN. she has had it for long as anyone can remember and never goes anywhere without it. It’s one of the ones ones that can be clicked to like a million different colors. (oh and it’s wrapped in specs washy tape)
Sniper: sniper loves crayons. He’s just always love coloring. He loved coloring books when he was little and he still uses them when he’s older, as well as “adult” coloring books. Sometimes Jack will even draw him something to color in. He likes to draw loops and rainbows all over worksheets and stuff as well.
Mush: stApLeS. Mush has a mini stapler he carries with him, a) bcuz it’s handy, b) cuz their fun. He will color on big sections of them with sharpies for a pop of color. And he’ll staple borders around worksheets & he will also just staple random shit? Like pickles he gets at lunch or the bathroom pass.
Tommy Boy: SO this kid loves to do calligraphy! He doesn’t usually bring his fountain pens to school because he’s afraid of losing them, but he loves his gel pens and he will also write his name all fancy and will make little name tags for his friends.
Elmer: Elmer is actually really organized? And how he does that is with a bunch of folders. He’s got a folder for everything. Classes, artwork, things from his friends, and also stuff he finds in the hall that others have lost so he can see if he can find the owner.
Katherine: katherine is big on highlighters. She has every color, every type, mini ones, big ones, glow in the dark, you name it she has it. She uses them on her notes and to emphasize things she writes. And to just add color to everything.
Romeo: Romeo is a sticker lover. Like he has fun stickers with puppies and stars and shit to put in his forehead and stuff but he also has those little dots he uses to label things.
JoJo: my man likes his mechanical pencils. He has a bunch of the cheap store brand ones to give to anyone who needs one, but he never writes with that peasant plastic. He uses the fancy ones with springs & roll up erasers & clickers on the side. He’s real snazzy.
Smalls: Smalls really loves markers. He writes pretty light and so with markers he can make things big and bold without hurting his hand, and he also likes how smooth they write. He likes the big thick crayolas, and his favorite color is purple.
Henry: w h i t e o u t. Henry likes to write in pen but he has messy handwriting and makes mistakes often so he uses whiteout to cover that. (And to paint his nails)
Finch: Finch LOVES math and he never goes ANYWHERE without his calculator. The other newsies always point out he has a phone but he insists on getting one of those big ass like calculus calculators that can print things and is the size of a small aircraft carrier.
I hope you liked them!!! Even the newsies are goin back to school so your not alone!! ;) good luck everyone!

Do you like cream soda? Yeah. Damn, it’s been years since I’ve had that.

What color is your cell phone? Coral.
How does your hair look right now? It’s in a messy ponytail.
Are you on any medications? Yes.

Captain Underpants and the Harrowing Hostile Horror of Homophobia
Well, here it is! My first ever Captain Underpants fic! I think I sort of mix the three different versions, but this is supposed to be in the Netflix series universe. They’re in 6th grade. My friend knew she was bi at like 11, so I figure it’s not too far off for George to know.
This is George Beard and Harold Hutchins. George is the one in the beanbag chair with the bi tie and flattop. Harold is the one on the floor with the rainbow t-shirt and bad haircut. Remember that now.
Harold doodled at his spot on the floor, pausing to nibble at the end of his pencil and frown slightly. George was similarly stuck, tapping his pencil against the clipboard and staring at the paper filled with deadend comic ideas.
“Have any ideas yet?” Harold asked. “Maybe it would be easier to design a monster if I knew what it should be.”
“No.” George groaned and leaned his head back, staring up at the ceiling. “None of these work.”
Harold blew a raspberry and rolled onto his back, looking around the tree house. His eyes landed on George’s tie, and then on his own rainbow shirt. He sat up, grinning. “What if we do a coming-out issue for Captain Underpants!”
“A coming-out issue?” George repeated as Harold plopped down beside him in the beanbag chair.
“Yeah! Like, maybe he comes out as pansexual or something. And he gets a cool flag cape!”
“Ooh, I like that.” George nodded and started writing. “But what would the monster be? Some weird old dude trying to stop him?”
“...what about like, some kind of laser zaps the Captain and makes a monster based on what makes him happy? And instead it tries to upset him. And like, he starts to feel guilty and stuff, but then he gets help from all his friends from previous comics! Like a big superhero meetup!”
“So the monster like, represents homophobia?” George asked.
“...yeah.” Harold shrugged and scratched his arm, glancing the other way. “Yeah, kind of. But then at the end they defeat it by like, punching it away.”
“That's good, I like that,” George laughed. He quickly started writing, queuing Harold to settle back into his spot on the floor. He tried to think: what would a monster based on homophobia look like? Really super ugly. He laughed to himself and started to draw.
Captain Underpants and the Harrowing Hostile Horror of Homophobia
So this one time, Captain Underpants was flying around around the city looking for lunch, like hotdogs or something because yum, hotdogs, and he was so hungry. But then he found this parade thing, and everyone was wearing a bunch of colors and they had capes too! And Captain Underpants thought “There's a superhero parade! I'm a superhero I should join!”
And so he flew down to the parade, and he was like “Hey superheros, sorry I'm late, no one told me there was a superhero parade!” But it turns out it WASN'T a superhero parade, it was a gay parade, where like a bunch of people get together and celebrate being gay because, pfft, hello, it's awesome.
So Captain Underpants was like “Oh that sounds like fun! But what's gay?” ‘Cause he like, didn't know. And they were like “It's when you're a boy and you like boys, like like-like.” And Captain Underpants liked that, because he like-liked boys sometimes! But he also like-liked girls, and people who were like not either of those ‘cause he just liked everyone. And someone said “That's pansexual dude!” and Captain Underpants was like “Woah cool!”
And someone gave him like, a pansexual cape and Captain Underpants was like “I'm gonna tell all my friends!” But suddenly when he was flying off, a big laser shocked him like “Bzz bz-shck!” It was these mean alien dudes who wanted to test their new laser on poor Captain Underpants! And when they flew off a big ugly storm starting forming, and it had a really ugly face like this!
And the storm was like “I'm gonna make sure you're never happy, liking boys is gross!”  And Captain Underpants didn't see why because everyone at the parade was so nice, so he started fighting the storm! But it kept repeating all the mean stuff, and Captain Underpants started thinking that it was right!
But then a bunch of superheros appeared to help- it was all Captain Underpants’ friends! “What are you guys doing here!” He asked. “Well we’re here to help you beat up this storm!” And they did! It was like “Wham!” and “Pow!” and the storm was all “Noooooo listen to meeeeee!” But no one was listening ‘cause they were too busy beating him up!
When the storm was all gone, all the superheros high-fived and celebrated. Captain Underpants even told them about the parade and being pansexual! And they all gave him a big hug and joined the parade with him because it was awesome, the end.
“New comic! Brand new Captain Underpants comic, hot off the press!”
Kids flocked around George and Harold as they passed out copies of the new comic before classes started. The two boys even went up to Melvin, who was sitting by himself at his desk like always.
“New issue of Captain Underpants, Melvin. Sure you don’t want one?” George grinned and held out a copy. Melvin raised an eyebrow and took it, skimming the pages.
“...You made a comic about internalized homophobia?”
“Inta-what?” Harold blinked.
“Internalized homophobia.” Melvin rolled his eyes and handed the comic back. “It's when you're mad at yourself for being gay?”
“Oh,” George said. “Nah, they're just fighting a cranky monster.”
Melvin shook his head and went back to his book. “Whatever. I don't want a copy, just like every other dumb comic.”
“Whatever man.” George took Harold's hand and lead him off to continue handing out comics.
“George and Harold to my office. Now!”
The boys sighed and left their classroom, walking down the hall to the office.
“What do you think we did this time?” Harold asked.
“I dunno man. We haven't done any pranks yet today.” George held his chin in thought.
“Maybe he found out about the plan for tomorrow?”
“Eh, it's probably just because we made another Captain Underpants.” George shrugged. “Mr. Krupp hates them.”
They entered the office. Harold bit his lip, almost nervous. What if they were in trouble for the contents of the new issue this time?
“George and Harold.” Mr. Krupp sat at his desk, looking at the two of them over his fingers. “I wanted to talk to you about this comic.” He slid the newest Captain Underpants forward on his desk. Yup, they knew it.
“Ok, we get it, no more comics blah blah blah,” George said. “Is that it, can we go?”
“No, you-!” Mr. Krupp sighed and rubbed his face, his expression softening just a bit. “Boys, is- is anyone giving you any trouble? About this comic?”
“What?” They blurted together.
“I mean is anyone… being mean, because of what it’s about?” Mr. Krupp looked really weird about actually showing concern. George and Harold looked at each other, confused. Was this a trap or something?
“Nnnnoo…? Everyone’s cool,” George answered.
“Yeah, everyone likes it,” Harold agreed. “You’re not… mad?”
“Of course I’m mad! You’re not allowed to make these!” Mr. Krupp snapped, waving the comic. “But-” He pinched his nose. “No, I’m not mad because it’s gay. Are either of you boys- are you dealing with anything like the monster in this?”
“You mean people being mean? Isn’t that what you just asked?” George looked confused.
“No, I mean- what the monster itself is based on. That’s not just- it’s not just based on other people being mean, is it?” It was very clear that Mr. Krupp was uncomfortable with the conversation, which confused the boys even more.
“Oh, you mean that intalized stuff Melvin was talking about?” George asked. “Nah, I don’t think so.” Harold bit his lip, rubbing his arm and looking away at the floor. George leaned forward on his chair and looked over at him. “...Harold?”
“I don’t know, I-I guess what Melvin said kinda… made sense.” Harold shrugged.
“Ah jeez.” Mr. Krupp sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Listen kid, uh- I don’t know why you feel… like this, like if someone was mean to you or you’re just… yeah. But, uh- there’s nothing wrong with it. Ok? People are gay, it happens.”
“Thanks… Mr. Krupp,” Harold responded, blinking in shock. Mr. Krupp was never nice to them.
“Yeah yeah. Just get back to class.” George and Harold hurried out of his office before he could change his mind. “And don’t let me catch you making any more of these comics!” He glared out the door before looking back at the comic and lightly touching a finger to the pansexual cape Captain Underpants was wearing.
He almost smiled.
“That sure was weird, huh?” Harold asked as they walked back to class. “Mr. Krupp is never nice to us!”
“Yeah, weird,” George agreed. “Are you sure you’re ok, buddy?”
“Yeah, I’m- I’m fine.” Harold smiled a bit. “It’s good, man. I guess I’ve just felt kinda weird since we went to the future.”
George smiled back. “It must be weird, huh? I had to figure it out myself, you knew before you even knew! It’s kinda crazy.”
“Our lives are crazy.” Harold laughed.
Meanwhile, all the way up in space…
Three aliens were fighting over a remote in their U.F.O. The language was foreign, but anyone could tell that they sounded like teenagers. One of the aliens held the remote away from the other two, and a laser below the ship moved around wildly with the remote.
Suddenly, the remote was smacked to the ground and the button was pressed. The laser shot down towards Earth, making the aliens pause. One of them quickly jumped into the driver's seat and flew them off.
Back on Earth, George and Harold were walking around the playground at recess. Everyone was sitting around, reading the newest Captain Underpants issue.
“You know, I think this might be one of my favorite issues yet,” George said, and smiled as he held out the original copy of the issue.
“Yeah! I'm gonna be honest, I didn't think everyone would like it this much-”
Suddenly, the laser from the alien spaceship zapped Harold and knocked him backward.
“Oh my gosh!” George panicked and kneeled down next to his best friend, shaking his shoulder. “Harold, are you ok?” The boy groaned, and suddenly a storm began forming from his head. George gasped and watched as the storm grew bigger and bigger, and a big ugly face appeared on it as it towered over the school. The kids all screamed (as you do) and ran around in a panic as the storm monster started attacking the school.
“Uh-oh!” George cried. “Harold, we have to get Captain Underpants-!”
George was cut off when he pulled on Harold’s arm, but the boy didn't move. Instead, he was sitting on the ground and staring up at the monster with a mix of fear and despair on his face.
“Harold?” George waved his hand in front of Harold's face, but no response. “Come on, man! What gives?!”
“Leave me alone,” Harold sobbed- sobbed- Harold never cried- and pushed George's arm away, burying his face in his arms. George’s frown deepened; something was definitely wrong.
George ran off, bursting into the school to find Mr. Krupp. Chunks of the building broke off into the storm (how the school could afford repairs once a week George never knew), and all the kids were screaming and hiding under desks. As George ran, he crashed into exactly what- or rather, who- he was looking for.
“You!” Mr. Krupp yelled. “I know you have something to do with this! What did you-?!”
“No time!” George cried, snapping his fingers. Instantly, the man stripped to his underwear and grabbed a piece of red fabric from the school display, tying it around his neck.
“Tra-la-laaaa!” Captain Underpants announced.
“Captain Underpants, there's a storm attacking the school, you gotta hurry!” George dragged the superhero outside.
“Oh my! That doesn't look very nice!” Captain Underpants said, looking up at the face of the storm. It growled with sharp teeth, breaking away more of the school. A few kids were pulled into it and spun around the outside before being spat back out.
“You gotta stop it!”
“Oh yeah!” Captain Underpants laughed and flew towards the storm. As he tried to fight it, George looked around desperately for Harold. He was exactly where he had left him, only now laying on his side and crying heavily.
“Harold! Harold, buddy!” George ran over, kneeling down next to him. “What's happening to you, Harold?!”
“It's right, George!” Harold sobbed, covering his face with his hands. “It's right, I know it's right!”
“What are you-?” George jumped as Captain Underpants was slammed upside-down against the wall beside them.
“That storm keeps whispering mean things!” Captain Underpants frowned, righting himself and standing up.
“Whispering-?” George turned towards the storm, and, listening closely, he could hear what the superhero was talking about.
“You're just disgusting.”
“You know it's wrong. You know it. Freak.”
“Everyone hates you. They hate it. They hate you, because it's bad.”
“You dragged him down with you. It's your fault. It wouldn't have happened if you weren't-!”
George's eyes widened as he looked back at Harold. Was all that what he had been worried about?
“This storm is such a downer, man!” Captain Underpants flew back up to the storm, trying harder to beat it up. Harold screamed, doubling down around himself and wrapping his arms around his sides. The more Captain Underpants attacked the monster, the greater Harold's pain seemed to get.
And then George got it.
“Captain Underpants!” He yelled, trying to get the hero's attention. “CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS!”
“Huh?” He was knocked back out of the sky, landing a few feet in front of the boys.
“We can't attack it! It's hurting Harold!” George told him, trying to ignore the whispers in his ears. If he listened to them, he was sure he'd start to believe them.
“Hurting Harold?” Captain Underpants frowned. “But then how do we defeat it?”
George started pacing, trying to think. The whispers started to seep further into his mind, almost personalized- “At least they have the decency to pick a side-” George shook his head, growling. It wasn't bad, he told himself determinedly. It was normal! People all over the world were like them! It was fun!
A loud screech came from the storm, as if it were hurt. George gasped. His eyes widened.
“I think I know what to do!” George told Captain Underpants. “But we need help! Stay here!”
George hurried into the school, quickly looking around. Several other students were hiding, and some were throwing things at the storm in a futile attempt to hurt it.
“Erica!” George ran over to the girl, tugging at her arm. “Erica, we need help!”
“What are we supposed to do?” Erica asked.
“I think I figured it out, but the more people, the better,” George told her.
“Is this you imbeciles’ fault?!” Melvin snapped, popping up from under a table. “It always is!”
“We didn't do anything! This time! Look, I just need some help-” George ducked and covered his head as Captain Underpants broke through the ceiling with Harold in his arms.
“I think the storm is hurting Harold!” Captain Underpants frowned, setting him on the floor.
“What's going on with him?” Melvin asked.
“I dunno! Some weird laser thing zapped Harold and then this thing formed and it's saying mean stuff-!”
“It's saying homophobic stuff!” Melvin slapped his forehead. “You dolt, it's internalized homophobia!”
“Um, I don't hear anything!” A student spoke up.
“You can't hear it?” George and Melvin asked, confused. The girl shook her head.
“Ok, well, that's not the point!” George flinched and looked back at Harold. He went and kneeled next to him, lightly holding his shoulder. “Harold? Buddy?”
“I'm sorry, George. It's my fault you're-” Harold gulped and sobbed. “Y-you had a chance to- to be n-normal, bu-but I-”
“Harold, it's not your fault I like boys too,” George assured, helping him to sit up. “Y'know, thinking about it- do you remember that new kid in like, 3 grade that I kept wanting to prank?”
“Him?” Harold laughed a bit, sniffing and rubbing at his cheeks. George blushed and shrugged.
“Maybe! But it's not your fault. You just helped me like, figure out that boys are even an option. It's awesome!” The storm outside screeched loudly and growled.
Harold smiled softly, but then frowned and looked down. “But it's weird, isn't it?”
“Actually, homosexuality has been found and documented in about 500 species,” Melvin spoke up. “Humans are no weirder than the rest of the animal kingdom, save for we're the only ones with homophobia.”
“...can dolphins be gay?” Harold asked quietly.
“Mm-hm.” Melvin nodded. Harold grinned. The monster began to shrink and screamed, pulsing slightly.
“... Doesn't… doesn't everyone hate it? Me?” Harold asked quietly. George set a determined face and sat down next to his friend, hugging him tightly.
“We don't hate you, Harold,” Erica said, stepping forward.
“Yeah, we don't mind it,” another student agreed.
“I don't like you, but just because you're annoying.” Melvin folded his arms and looked away. “Not because you're gay. That's just mean.”
“You're super cool, yo!” Captain Underpants smiled. The other students nodded and spoke in agreement. Once more, the storm cried out and shrank even more.
“It’s shrinking!” Erica pointed out. At this point, the storm was trying desperately to get at Harold again- everyone could hear it shouting now.
“Harold, you can’t listen to it!” George held onto Harold’s shoulders. “You have to ignore it! It’s lying to you!”
Harold squeezed his eyes shut and covered his ears. “You’re wrong,” he said to himself- to the storm. “You’re wrong! You’re lying!” The storm kept shrinking and shrinking. “There’s nothing wrong with it! THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING GAY!”
The storm let out one final scream as it shrank and finally disappeared completely. Everyone froze for a moment before George and Harold laughed and tightly hugged each other.
“Woah! That was cool, it’s gone now!” Captain Underpants smiled.
“I can’t believe you were scared about… all that,” George said. Harold shrugged, resting his head on his best friend’s shoulder. He sniffed and rubbed at his face.
“I wasn’t, really. I didn’t believe any of it. But then it just got a lot… stronger.”
“I wonder where the laser came from,” George said. Suddenly, a pipe burst in the half-destroyed school and directly hit Captain Underpants. The boys burst into laughter as Mr. Krupp sputtered and came to.
“What- George, what did you do?! What happened to the school?!” Mr. Krupp yelled. “AND WHERE ARE MY CLOTHES?!”

Fictober 2019 - Day 02
Fandom: Rhett & Link
Pairing: Rhett McLaughlin/Link Neal
Warnings: Mentions a liquor store
Rating: T
Prompt: “Just follow me, I know the area.”
Moving to a new place is always hard. Away from friends and family. But it's time for college life, to live and let live and experience a drop of adulthood before being thrust into the absurdity and loneliness of true adulthood. Orientation on campus was alright, the whole college and dorms all right there. A grocery store, liquor store and pharmacy all right there across from the dorms, pretty much. No wonder the top floor was considered the "party floor" with such establishments so close. "New year, new place, new me," he looked at himself in the bathroom mirror before heading out the door. His classes were mostly in the B building, the building most notorious for being designed by a prison architect. But how bad could it honestly be? He gave himself an hour and a half extra time. There was a place he wanted to stop at first. Adjusting his backpack on his shoulder, he crossed the street into the newest building. The Student Commons, it was bustling with activity, new students clamouring to meet their friends, the school Starbucks jam-packed with kids willing to pay for the overpriced coffee. Link paid them no mind as he weaved through the crowds. He wasn't from here, didn't have anyone to meet, no point in slowing down on day one. He made his way past a Booster Juice, this line filled with what Link pegged as the 'mature' students or 'returning' students. They had eyes that looked both tired and excited. This wasn't their first rodeo by a long shot. Just near the smoothie place was a room with glass windows and an hour of operation sign. Just behind the windowpane sat a decorated wedding cake, images of students and teachers wearing chef's whites. Peering past the display he could see loaves of bread along the wall near a refrigerated display case. "This is Savoir Fare! The food here is made by the culinary and baking students! It's real affordable!" a friendly woman wearing a black apron called to him from the other side of the open door. "Thank you! I'll come back later!" he called with a wave. The woman flashed him a smile and waved back as he began to move on. From what he remembered from the tour he had taken just the week before, he was passing the school store and the main cafeteria. Both seemed jam packed with more students then he could possibly imagine. A simple boy from a small southern county, south of the border, this was bordering on too much now. He pushed past, tracing his steps from the guided tour. Following the hall past the "Observatory" the restaurant slash campus bar he made a left turn at the 'Four Corners'. At least a lot of the landmarks were recognizable enough. Instead of following the path up the stairs towards the library, he passed by them, following the shape of the courtyard framed by four of the school's buildings. A few students were out in the grass, milling about and chatting with each other with bright smiles. Link smiled, he was going to be like those students soon enough. Having a good time. Having friends just like him. At the end of the hall, Link could see the rainbow striped pillar. It made his heart race as he slowly made his way down the dim hall towards the B building, and towards his first destination. The whole pillar was painted in a rainbow spiralling up, an arrow painted along the wall nearest the ceiling, pointing out the school's 'Pride Center'. Link looked down the short hallway and could hear laughter and chatter from an open door spilling light into the hall. Link shifted his bag again before walking towards the open door. Peering into the small room, he could see only six people in the room. The person behind the desk across from the door piped up, "Hello! Welcome!" They smiled at him before adjusting their own pair of glasses. Link raised his hand nervously, "Hey..." he trailed off into the room. Four of the other occupants seemed to be in deep conversation, paying him no mind. The fifth however, waved at him with a small smile of his own. Sliding up to the desk, he eyed one of the event leaflets on the top of the desk. The person behind the desk smiled up at him, "Hi, I'm Vick, the program coordinator here at the Pride Center. We have tons of resources here if you need them along with some fun events scheduled for later today too." "Thank you," Link murmured before taking one of the leaflets and sliding it into his pocket. "Of course! It's an open space, so go ahead and make yourself comfortable," Vick smiled up at him with a gentle smile. Link looked at the two couches and then to the table filled with coloring pencils, markers and blank sheets. He sat at the table, placing his bag by his feet. The boy who waved at him was also at the table, coloring in a picture of Sleepy Bear from the Care Bears. "Hey," the blond murmured as, link shifted through some of the sheets. "Hi," Link smiled at the blond. The blond who was incredibly Link's type and super hot. "Why don't we all introduce ourselves since we have a few new folks here?" Vick rolled their chair towards the group. "Okay!" one girl with dyed pink hair smiled. "So why don't we say our names, pronouns, and since it's the start of the year, what program you're taking?" Vick smiled and the group nodded. "I'll go first. Hi, i'm Vick. I use they/them pronouns, and I'm the program coordinator here." Vick motioned to the girl with pink hair sitting closest to them. "Hey, I'm Q, I use she/her pronouns, and I'm taking Interior Design," the pink haired girl beamed. "Q? Cool name," Vick smiled at the girl before motioning to the brunette beside her. "'Sup, I'm Georgie. She/her too. I'm taking Horticulture Industries." The third person on the couch piped up, "I'm Matt, he/him, I'm in my second year of Baking and Pastry Arts Management." "Yo, I'm Bobbie, they/them, taking Early Childhood Education." The hot blond looked at the others around the room before smiling, ""M Rhett, he/him, I'm here for Music Industry Arts." Link swallowed, "Hey, I'm Link. He/him. I'm here for Business Administration." Everyone seemed to go back to what they were doing, and Link pulled out his phone to check the time. He still had a bit of time before he had to find his classroom. "Where are your classes, Link?" Rhett smiled at him and it made his heart jam up in his throat. "A lot of them are here in the B building, but I'm nervous about finding them all," he shrugged his shoulders slightly. Rhett beamed, "I can help you find them." "I don't want to impose or anything," Link was quick to try and brush the offer for help off. "C'mon, let's see your schedule," Rhett laughed quietly before tapping his foot against the leg of Link's chair. "Alright, here," Link pulled a folded piece of paper out of his hoodie pocket. "Oh, one of them is just around the corner from here. Let's go now so I can show them all to you," Rhett pushed away from the table. "Ah, wait up," Link scrambled to follow the much taller boy. Holy, Link thought he was tall but his guy made him feel short. "Just follow me, I know the area." Rhett thought a moment before adding, "Like the back of my palm," with a laugh before darting out the door. Link blinked rapidly before chasing after the tall boy down the hall. "Wait up!"

Instead of a summary of my art from each month of 2019 I’ve compiled a summary of my art from every year of this decade! Finding some of that old art was incredibly difficult.
And making an exact image description of all this would be too long to write or read so I’m going to do my best to describe all this in a concise and interesting way.
2010: I was a sophomore in high school, so about 15 years old. These two drawings are in pencil and colored pencil, one of some random girl character wearing brightly colored clothes and a rainbow shawl thing (??) walking on clouds it seems. No idea what that was meant to be about. The other is a reference for my old oc, the very first one I ever had, based on myself. She looks human but with unicorn ears and a horn, plus wings and a tail. I hadn’t figured out animal legs yet either so she has perfectly normal human legs that just end in hooves.
2011: still mostly pencil, colored pencil, I don’t remember if I had a laptop yet. I would have been 16 years old at this time. I picked a self portrait here, a coloreddrawing of myself in black concert dress playing the trumpet because I got to do a solo in jazz band and I was very happy about it. The other art I picked for this year is digital but in the old ms paint program (you know before it tried to be fancy with a few more realistic tools and was only pixel art tools) I do believe I was still using the family computer for this, with a mouse. I was really creative with the tools. It’s my unicorn girl oc again, flying through the sky. I included a progress image, showing how I made it. I’m so glad I saved the steps and posted them it’s really cool to see my old art process for that.
2012: 17 years old, and I think I finally had a laptop with a good art program on it by this time but I still did mostly traditional art, lots of colored pencil work. I found this old experimental art I did that year, a colored pencil drawing of a girl sitting on a tree branch, but the background is all digital, a painting of a fantasy night sky with three moons. It actually looks kinda good, the edges of the colored pencil drawing are crisp and smooth and the digital background doesn’t look out of place. I mean the shading is a bit of a mess and I used white clouds on a black night sky which is a bit funny looking but it isn’t that bad. The other image is a colored pencil drawing that was really ambitious for me at the time. I had this cool idea to draw Death with sunset colored wings, all poetic and stuff. Why did I also draw death with blue skin and horns? I don’t know. Why is death sitting on an ambiguous brown cliff overlooking a cemetery? Well I guess I just was having trouble finding any other way to make a nice background and have death above a cemetery. I should redo this one, it’s a really good concept.
2013: my last year of high school, 18 years old. I was doing digital art a lot more often this year and expanding the diversity of my ocs. One of these images is a digital drawing of two of my first characters of color, two male black elves (black as in African-based) smoochin. My first black oc was also my first queer oc, jayvyn. A gay elf. There are a lot of issues with the way I originally conceptualized his story but even when I was thinking he was the only queer person in his town and there was homophobia towards him (I was only just dipping my toes outside the mindset I grew up in) I gave him a whole massive group of friends (a boys' lacrosse team he was on don’t ask me why lacrosse I have no idea I don’t even know much about lacrosse it was a weird choice) and those friends were extremely loyal and supportive of him, even to the point of going on dates with him just to make him happy. and again, he was the only gay character I had so I was writing a bunch of straight dudes taking their one gay friend on dates in a town full of people who were at least vaguely homophobic, I definitely had a lot of growing to do in my writing and my own mindset but I’m kinda proud of myself for doing that? I could have done so much worse with my first queer oc and my first real step into characters of color, but I made the whole story about this tight knit group of boys who were all such close loving friends. (Gee I wonder if this had anything to do with my being ace and not knowing it yet). Oh yeah, the other image is also there, that one is from a photoshop class I took. We had a three-way folding mirrors the bathroom at the time so I put on a hoodie, turned out the bathroom lights, folded the mirrors in and shoved my face into the gap and then took a photo with the flash while holding my mouth open in a silent scream. The result is this really cool series of screaming faces at different angles, which I then ran through a few filters and major contrast adjustment. Could be an edgy generic horror movie cover lol
2014: 19 years old, and I just finished a year of community college and then left on a church mission for 18 months. I probably should have used some of my first college art class drawings for this year's summary but I was using my old deviantart gallery to collect these old images so I forgot I had all that college art too. These two digital images are pretty dynamic in different ways. Dynamic lighting and dark skin, an experiment I was doing to figure out lighting better for my characters of color. That’s Jayvyn again I think, with lightning shooting out of his hand because I sure love making characters with lightning powers. The other is dynamic in the posing and I’m still incredibly happy with it, it’s a drawing of a grey centaur from behind, bucking in panic because a kitten pounced on its foot. Definitely still one of the best centaur drawings I have ever made.
2015: 20 years old, I was actually on my church mission for this entire year so finding art from that year was very very tricky. One is just a small pencil drawing on another oc, Ronan with his cool mechanical leg playing fiddle I guess? I was doing a lot of synesthesia doodles that year so there are lots of swirly lines coming off the fiddle. I was also surprised to find this really neat digital art I made of Ravio from link between worlds, I almost forgot I did find a way to make digital art on my mission (no access to my laptop, limited apps we were allowed to use, super limited access to normal computers except for emails and such, always busy doing important stuff) I discovered the drawing function in the iPad notes app and every time I had time I would use it until I figured out how to make it work for me, using only my fingers, the limited color palette options, and this marker tool that had one size and only multiplied (except when using white) this is definitely one of the best ones, but I don’t know where the rest went. I had a lot. I was stunned to find this because it really looks like I could have done it on a laptop, can’t believe I forgot I did that.
2016: 21 years old. Had to get used to a laptop again. Also I created my current main oc Morianten during my church mission so here I have the very first full body digital art of him! I’ve definitely changed his anatomy a lot since then, made him much more bird like. Kinda funny to look at this old one and see just how differently I draw him now, only three years later. I also have here a digital painting of some other members of morianten's adoptive family, his dad and little brother having a father son race in nice racing wheelchairs. I still struggle with proportions when I draw characters in wheelchairs.
2017: 22 years old, and back in college. I really had a focus on figure drawing that year, I was back in college art classes and I found posespace.com which is just full of professionally shot art model photos. I’ve got one digital figure drawing of my oc Talib, another practice in lighting on dark skin. The other image is a charcoal drawing of my oc Parva, I think I did that one in a 30 minute time frame where I was taking pictures at different points to show my process but I’ve lost the process images.
2018: 23 years old, and really getting into color depth with my digital art. I found a really old pencil drawing of a dynamic dancing scene and redid it as a digital painting with extreme colored lighting dynamics and new characters. I also got super into mermay so I’ve included one of my favorites, a rainbow trout gal and her elf girlfriend having a chat after a nice swim. I’m super proud of the colors and proportions here, and the shading is pretty great too.
And then it’s 2019! This year! I’m 24! For this one I used three images instead of two, all digital. My ocs Talib and Kouto as persephone and hades in a really quick painting I did but the colors and lighting are intense and fun. No outlines painting of Morianten with some pretty intense lightning lighting. That one took ages and I’m still not entirely pleased with the way I drew his face there but I’m proud of it. And I never actually posted this last one, it’s a new oc created exclusively for the DC superheroes au I dabbled in with @askmissbernadette, a young hero called Lion riding a skateboard in a dark city with a long coat on because that’s a fun way to replace the common superhero cape design.
Overall, it was really fun to go through my art for the entire decade and see how much it’s changed over time. And to see how much my characters have changed. Hope 2020 is a good year, hope the 20s in general are good. Here’s to another 10 years of change and progress!
