Mmm, since I just excitedly explained my current love of Star Trek Strange New Worlds to @fictionadventurer and ever so vaguely @e-louise-bates in the notes of fictionadventurer's one post, I thought that I now need to further explain my thoughts about the season now that it’s wrapped up. (All of it will be below the cut, so if you don’t want spoilers before watching, wait until then. Though I don’t really go into explaining what each episode was about.) Otherwise my thoughts on some of the episodes of season two.
I am going to start off with the fact that I don’t actually remember much of season 1. Enough of it to keep track of what happened, but not enough to give details at all. (I will also note that for some reason Star Trek horror episodes don’t really freak me out, thankfully. The Strange New Worlds ones have been more gory than anything. Which isn’t pleasant and there are some intense moments, but it doesn’t really scare me. I know that can be different for other people as we all have generally different sensitivities from each other. Though generally I am fairly sensitive to horror but it does depend on the type of horror. Like I don’t know if Lockwood and co. Is considered horror in any way or just paranormal, either way I’ve avoided that and Stranger Things because I think both of those are closer to things that actually freak me out and I don’t need to try going to sleep scared/freaked out. Anyways back on topic to Star Trek.) I know I enjoyed season 1, but not nearly as much as season 2 this year. So season 2 is what I’m focusing on.
Episode 1 of season 2, I would say wasn’t the strongest. It was okay, but I don’t think that it was anything special to rave over. There were certain parts that were better than others during it. Overall this particular episode was lower on my list. I’d rewatch it, but it wouldn’t be the first one I would chose or even recommend. I might think differently after a rewatch of it, but I’m in no rush to do so.
Episode 2 on the other hand is a different story. (I’m too lazy to look up the episode names.) This one was one of the episodes that felt like pure unadulterated Trek. The ever a classic courtroom episode. Is it preachy and hinting towards certain political views today? Of course it is. But it was well done and engaging and there were moments where you could see exactly how the case was being brought forward to get the wanted conclusion right before it was fully finished. It is an episode that I would be most willing to watch again.
Episode 3. Context before I state anything about this episode. This was one of the TWO time travel related episodes this season, that being said, I’m a sucker for a time travel storyline. If you know me at all, then you know that I have a major soft spot for almost anything time travel. (Hence Tales Of A Frozen Sailor being time travel when I got team Tolkien in the inklings challenge…) So this episode already had a leg up for me. This episode has ended up being in my top three episodes of the season. Mainly because I love the dynamic of La'an and alternate timeline Kirk. I was about ready to burn canon for these two with the chemistry they had on screen. This episode also really started to sell me on Paul Wesley for Captain James T. Kirk in a way that hadn’t been quite as convincing in season 1. And Toronto actually got to play Toronto instead of *insert big American city here*, which was a nice change for once.
Episode 4…. I don’t actually remember exactly which episode this one was. Which meant it was good, but had nothing in particular to really stand out above the crowd. Okay, scratch that, it was the episode that I was thinking that it might be, which had the crew returning to a planet that they had visited previously. It was a very Star Trek-y episode, didn’t hate it, but wasn’t my favourite. But also wasn’t something to turn my nose up at either.
Episode 5, this one had a very classic Star Trek trope told in a slightly new way. 'Oh no one of our people (Spock in this case) has been in an accident (shuttlepod) and is not himself because part of what makes him him has been removed!' (Shocked face). All is figured out after much trouble has been gone through. (Also I both love and feel sorry for T'Pring's father. He’s so clearly enjoying himself, but his wife has higher expectations and he follows her lead in that regard.
Episode 6… I had to look at a blurb about this one because I was blanking out about it. If episode 3 is what finally sold me on Paul Wesley as Kirk, this episode cemented it. Especially since it showed friendships being started between a certain set of characters that were in the OG series. Also Kirk and Uhura were really sweet together and it showed how much respect the two have for each other. So while I didn’t remember this episode at first, it really was a good one, even if it isn’t in my top three.
Episode 7, finally. This was my most anticipated episode for the season. The crossover episode and not only that but time travel beloved. This episode had surprises and references galore AND the cast was actually allowed to ad lib in the episode. So some of the moments are absolutely priceless and well worth the wait. This is one of the other ones that makes it into my top three episodes. They also pay homage to Star Trek Enterprise, mentioning Archer, Travis Mayweather, and Hoshi. Which was wonderful for them to get some acknowledgment since most other Star Trek shows had come out before that one. It was only 40 minutes long, but they packed a lot of fun into that episode.
Episode 8. This is the only episode that I truly despised. It just wasn’t a good episode and if I wrote it, I would have chosen a different way to end it. I didn’t like the way it was put together. I didn’t like how dark of an episode it was thematically and it was the least Star Trek-y of all the episodes. I think the main issue was with the characters they chose to tell this particular story with, were the wrong ones. For how the story went, I don’t think it should have been Dr. M'Benga and Nurse Chapel. If they told it a bit differently and changed the one aspect at the end, then maybe it would have worked better. As it was, I think it was the wrong “moral” (using moral loosely) to choose. To go more into a spoiler-y direction, it would have fit better into Star Trek's original theme/premise better if instead of the Klingon being killed, differences and the past could have been put aside for them to work together or at least have come to some sort of understanding instead of what happened. It just left a sour taste in my mouth and wasn’t an episode that I appreciated in any form. It could have been much better done.
Episode 9. The musical episode. The mentioned episode that got me started on this full train of thought in the first place. And also the other episode that makes it into my top three. Because this really is such a fun episode and is the perfectly corny type of camp that you expect from Star Trek and is reminiscent of certain other events that break out among the ship in other shows. The very fact that everyone on board is perfectly aware of how odd of a situation that they’re in and is working together towards finding a solution. The songs are catchy and one of the best moments has to be the surprise and shock of how the Klingons end up singing. My dad had to pause the show until I could catch my breath from laughing so hard. It was also extremely emotional at times as well and further included lore from TOS and the movies. Honestly it’s got to be among the best Star Trek episodes just in general. It’s just *chef’s kiss.*
Episode 10, the last one of the season and it ends on a cliffhanger, unfortunately. On the good side, we get Scotty for the first time properly and he sounds just right. Looks on the other hand will take getting used to as the actor doesn’t really look like James Doohan, but that will come in time, because he does fit the part and I love him. It’s the seasons horror (gore) episode. I’m still not sure what to think about what they’re doing with the Goran… only time will tell with that one.

✩ ‧₊˚ ✩ BURNER ACCOUNTS — GOJO SATORU.
contents. fem! reader, loser ex-boyfriend! satoru, exes to lovers, college! au, satoru making burners to watch your stories, miscommunications—satoru is not perfect but he’s trying okay?, gossip icons shoko & suguru <3, i had a silly idea and it turned into 2.6k words my bad
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there’s a peculiar account watching your instagram stories—@user273582838, to be exact. you don’t think it’s a very well timed coincidence seeing as you and satoru have just broken up—so you decide to do some digging.
which of course, means enlisting the help of shoko.
“i think satoru is stalking me,” you mumble, making her pause in the middle of sipping on her energy drink—for a med student, her habits don’t seem every healthy. this is her third one of the day.
“okay,” she nods, “i wouldn’t put it past him, but what makes you say that?”
“look,” you turn your phone to face her, the blank, anonymous instagram account right there on the list of users who have viewed your story. she crinkles her brows, blinking for a moment before humming.
“that definitely seems like something he’d do,” she nods—and then, “i have an idea.”
“okay,” you brighten, nodding enthusiastically, “what’s the plan?”
“try and log in with that user.”
“shoko,” you look at her like she’s grown two heads. maybe the lack of sleep is finally getting to her—no amount of energy drinks can save her at this point. “we don’t have the password—”
“—and that, dummy,” she rolls her eyes, making you scowl at the name, “is why we click forgot my password and see the last four digits of the phone number that registered the account. if it’s satoru’s number, we’ll know.”
okay—you take it back. shoko is a genius and a full-blown brilliant mastermind that you could never hope to come close to. you’re glad you chose her to help—you’re even more glad she agreed because you would not have thought of that. this is fantastic. a fool-proof plan.
you grin wide, eyes lighting up as you gasp, “shoko! you’re so smart, that’s a great idea!”
“i know,” she grumbles, “took you long enough to notice.”
ignoring her, you quickly pull out your phone and try to log onto the account, typing user273582838 into the username box and clicking forgot my password. shoko is hovering over your shoulder, and your breath is held as you wait for the page to load and the number to pop up. within just a few seconds, the first few digits are censored with asterisks, but the last four show, and—
yeah. it’s satoru’s fucking number. just as you suspected—you and shoko scoff together at the same time, rolling your eyes.
“well,” you look at her, lips pursed in irritation—of course, satoru refuses to give you space and leave you alone after your break up (which was his fault, might you add), “what now?”
“send the verification code to his number,” she presses, “it’ll definitely spook him when he sees.”
she’s so good at what she does, you think in awe, staring at her with heart-eyes. nodding quickly, you press send code.
hopefully, that’ll give satoru the heart attack you want it to.
———
satoru stares at his screen in abject horror—who could be trying to log into his burner account? the only person who should possibly stumble across it is you, but surely you’re not closely inspecting your story viewers, are you? so then, who could be trying to log onto the instagram account of @user273582838?
“suguru,” he says in a trance, “are you trying to log onto the burner?”
“are you bringing that shit up again?” suguru grumbles, controller in hand as he pays attention to the screen, “i told you that was a stupid idea. a pathetic one too—”
“well, i didn’t want to keep waiting for you to send screenshots to see the stories—”
“you’re a fucking loser, do you know that? pathetic,” suguru reiterates. “move on.”
“no,” satoru hisses in disbelief, “why would i do that? now, was that you or not? you’re the only other person who knows the user.”
“as if i care to log onto your loser burner account,” suguru snorts, shaking his head in amusement. he beats satoru’s high score, turning to give him a sly grin as he adds, “i wasn’t removed, so i can view the stories all i want.”
“you’re a jerk, you know that?” satoru grunts, crossing his arms and pouting, “i’m having the worst heartbreak of my life, and you—”
“who’s fault is it that you’re dumped?”
satoru deflates.
okay, so he supposedly hasn’t been the best boyfriend. it’s not that satoru isn’t helplessly committed to you—he’s so sickeningly obsessed with you, it’s actually a bit unhealthy. suguru says so, at least. but satoru is…well, satoru, and he doesn’t always seem to take things as seriously as most people would hope.
evidently, that includes your relationship—though, he does insist on disagreeing on that. according to you, he doesn’t take you on dates often enough, and sometimes he flirts back with random strangers. that’s not true—he’s simply a bit of a tease and enjoys it when you’re jealous, but he doesn’t flirt back. that’s outrageous. you’ve even claimed he’s mean about it and makes a joke out of it all—satoru would never be mean on purpose; he only teases because the banter is always endearing.
but, unfortunately, you don’t seem to see it the way he does, and now he’s woefully single and cold and alone in bed. no cuddles, no goodnight kisses, and no head scratches.
life is so cruel sometimes.
“suguru,” he says in distress, “i’m serious. someone’s trying to hack my burner—who could it be?”
“hmm, i don’t know…maybe the one and only person who would notice the account in the first place?”
“but why try and log in if the password is unknown?”
suguru looks at satoru like he’s stupid—apparently, he is because he’s not putting two and two together.
“maybe because sending a verification code shows the last four digits of the registered phone number? you’ve probably been caught, you idiot.”
satoru pales at that—he didn’t think about that. it slipped his mind completely. fuck, he should’ve used a burner email instead. he stares down at his phone numbly—yeah, he thinks, he’s screwed.
———
after two days of continuous log in attempts into satoru’s burner account—it’s only just to spook him extra—you finally decide to confront him.
we need to talk. is all you send him.
the three bubbles appear on his end multiple times before disappearing—you and shoko get a good cackle out of that and laugh at him for a bit before he finally answers.
miss me already? knew it ;)
wow. what a dickhead.
so, because you can be equally as much of a prick, you send him a screenshot of his phone number on the log in page followed by a message that says: no. it’s so you can explain this.
the three dots show up again for a few minutes before he finally responds with: okay. you caught me. when do you wanna meet?
well, that was easy. satoru is the type to not go down without a fight no matter how cornered he is—he’s stubborn and annoying like that. you turn to shoko for help.
“meet him now,” shoko crosses her arms, “don’t give him time to come up with some ridiculous excuse.”
“what excuse could he possibly come up with?” you snort, “that he was possessed and the evil spirit in his mind made him stalk his ex like a loser?”
“true,” she concedes, taking a sip from her energy drink—seriously, how many of these does this girl drink in a day? “i just want to know what happens,” she shrugs, “so do it now.”
of course, as on brand as ever, shoko is merely in it for the drama. you roll your eyes before sighing and nodding.
“okay,” you huff.
meet me at my place. now.
on my way, he sends back almost instantly.
“he’s probably just excited to see you,” shoko snorts, “like the loser he is.”
“you’re probably right,” you purse your lips in exasperation. in all your time knowing him, you’ve definitely realized that satoru is definitely…well, a case.
———
“hey,” shoko whispers to suguru through the phone, walking out your door so you can prepare to confront satoru. “did you know satoru’s been stalking—”
“—on a burner account? yeah, i know.”
okay, she frowns to herself, that was no fun at all. suguru is already aware of the drama. but that’s no matter—surely, he can’t possibly already know that satoru has been invited over to be scolded.
“yeah, well,” she says smugly, “did you know he’s actually on his way over to—”
“—get yelled at? yeah, i’m aware. he called me panicked. what a fucking loser.”
“okay, well since you’re up to speed,” shoko grumbles bitterly, rolling her eyes. she was supposed to be the knight in shining armor with the juicy updates—but evidently, satoru is pathetic enough to already cry to suguru about his dilemma. “wanna meet up and get sushi nearby? i bet they’ll get back together in twenty minutes.”
“i bet ten. loser pays for the food?”
“you’ve got yourself a deal.”
———
satoru sits on your couch in shame, bouncing his leg nervously as you sit on the opposite end with your arms crossed and brow raised.
it’s quiet. he doesn’t have the guts to say anything, waiting for you to break the silence. maybe you’re not that mad.
“so,” you start, “it’s nice to finally meet you, user273582838.”
he rubs his neck awkwardly, chuckling through his nerves as he mumbles, “oh, hey there! it’s a small world, huh?”
“satoru.”
yeah, never mind. you seem pretty mad.
“okay, look,” he begins, “you can’t blame me. you dumped me, your sweet, loving, and unsuspecting boyfriend out of nowhere! i was heartbroken and shattered—and then you didn’t even give me a chance to work it out! i was not in the right headspace to make wise decisions so…so this is basically not my fault.”
that doesn’t seem to help his case—in fact, it only makes it worse.
“so it’s my fault?”
“wha—no!” he says quickly, “no, definitely not.”
you sigh, rubbing your forehead in defeat as you mumble, “satoru, we are broken up for a reason. you can’t overstep and—”
“it’s a pretty stupid reason,” he grumbles under his breath, crossing his arms and frowning. you glare at him from the side as you scoff in disbelief.
“of course,” you chuckle dryly, “of course you would say that. nothing is ever serious enough to you—”
“it’s pretty fucking serious to me,” he spits, shooting you a look that tells you he’s just as shocked as you, “that’s obviously why i’m the one who’s still not moved on as easily as you. how seriously did you really take it?”
“that’s not fair,” you grit, “you made it abundantly clear you didn’t care enough, so why should i—”
“i fucking cared a shit ton,” he says incredulously, “that’s bullshit, and you know it—”
“don’t curse at me, satoru—”
“well, don’t accuse me of not caring when i clearly—”
“oh, yeah cause you cared so much when you were laughing with that waitress as she hit on you,” you seethe, throwing a pillow from your couch at him. he can catch it easily—you know this for sure, but he lets it hit him out of what you’re sure is at least a little consideration to your feelings.
“i wasn’t laughing because i enjoyed it,” he crinkles his brows as if you’ve said the most ridiculous thing ever, “it was just funny because she was trying so hard. and you looked all cute when you got mad.”
“what kind of boyfriend enjoys watching his girlfriend get mad—”
“the kind of boyfriend who thinks his girlfriend is adorable when she’s mad—”
“yeah, well your idea of a date is going to the mall with shoko and suguru. what kind of date is that—”
“okay, i was a bit clueless sometimes, but you could’ve said something instead of just dumping me like i was some random guy in your dm’s—”
“you need to grow the fuck up, satoru—”
“now look at who's cursing!”
it’s silent—both you and him have your arms crossed and lips curled into scowls as you both glare at each other. you’re stubbornly convinced satoru doesn’t care as much as you do, and he’s firmly committed to the idea that you’re twisting him into some douche who doesn’t give two shits.
it’s quiet like that for a bit before he deflates and slumps against the couch, rubbing his face as he groans.
“look,” he starts, “i’m sorry. i never meant to make it seem like i enjoy attention from other girls, and i didn’t realize you wanted more dates. i’d have done things differently if you told me how you felt.”
he sounds sincere. and he’s looking at you with those eyes of his—god, those stupid little eyes that are so wide and blue and deep and full of love. even after that whole argument, satoru is clearly as painfully in love as ever.
you sigh before playing with a loose thread on your sweatpants.
“i…guess i could’ve talked it out first. i probably shouldn’t have skipped straight to breaking up,” you mutter, not meeting his eyes.
satoru stares glumly at you from the corner of his eyes before he adds bitterly, “you don’t seem to miss me. not even a little.”
“toru,” you pinch your nose, “of course i miss you. i was not gonna be mopey on instagram, though—”
“doesn’t seem like it,” he huffs. he’s a bit hurt—you can tell because he’s not meeting your eyes, and he’s not got that playful little upward curl of his lips.
you’re a bit weak, you realize—but you suppose you always have been for satoru, because you’re shuffling to his end of the couch and poking his cheek gently.
“i miss you tons, y’know,” you murmur—you smile a little at his pout before adding, “i want more dates this time around. and stop letting girls get away with being shameless flirts.”
he finally meets your eyes—it’s like a child on christmas, the way his face lights up and his lips curl into an excited grin.
“you mean i get to be your boyfriend again?”
it’s cute—the way he asks to be your boyfriend and not if you’ll be his girlfriend. maybe you’ve been a bit unfair, maybe satoru has always cared deeply in his dumb little clueless way of his own.
“fine,” you pretend to roll your eyes. he looks hopelessly excited as he wraps an arm around you and pulls you into his side, tucking you under his chin as he rests his cheek on your head.
“you should really talk to me more,” he murmurs, “i’m…things fly over my head sometimes. i’m sorry.”
“i’m sorry too,” you admit, “i’ll talk to you—but you better listen to me if i do. don’t turn it into jokes.”
“i never turn things into jokes,” he grumbles petulantly, huffing to the side as you shoot him an unimpressed raise of your brow. “does this mean i can follow you again?”
“yes,” you snort.
“and you’ll follow back, right?”
“yes, satoru,” you sigh, shaking your head in amusement. he’s already back to being a handful—but you can admit you might have missed it just a bit. “but for the love of god, please delete that burner.”
“fine,” he pouts, tugging you closer.
you giggle, he grins, and then you’re kissing—and everything feels as it should be.
———
“they’re back together,” shoko says in disbelief, staring at your text. suguru groans, pausing mid bite as he rubs over his forehead in defeat.
of course, you and satoru just have to make up in exactly fifteen minutes. not ten. not twenty. exactly fifteen.
how considerate of you both.
“are you kidding?” suguru grumbles, “so neither of us win.”
“guess not,” she says sourly, rolling her eyes.
woefully, they both agree to split the check.

Your Friend Steve

Summary: it’s finally me and you, and you and me … just us, and your friend Charles

My boyfriend (26M) and I (22F) cannot get a second alone!
The two of us have been together for a few years now. We met through mutual friends and really hit it off. He’s caring, thoughtful, and we have the best time together.
The issue is ... his best friend (26M) is ALWAYS around. And I mean always. We’ll be out to dinner and bestie will show up and pull up a chair. We’ll be cuddling on the couch watching Netflix and he’ll let himself in with the spare key and wedge between us. I swear this guy is like an overeager puppy sometimes.
The other day I came home with my boyfriend and bestie was there ... sleeping on MY side of the bed because he “got lonely” at his place. And don’t get me started on trying to plan a vacation for just the two of us. Without fail, bestie always finds out where we are and shows up.
I’m happy they’re so close and I’d never want to get between them or ask my boyfriend to pick. But his best friend is starting to feel like a third wheel in our relationship. I jokingly said to my boyfriend that at this rate, bestie will be part of our engagement and marriage too!
I could really use some outside advice. How do I kindly set some boundaries with my boyfriend’s overly-attached best friend? I want all of us to still be friends but the constant third-wheeling is getting to be a bit much.

Wow, this sounds really annoying and awkward! Hate to say it but your boyfriend needs to step up and set some better boundaries with his friend. As close as they may be, it’s not ok for him to let his friend crash your alone time constantly. It’s disrespectful to you and your relationship. If your bf won’t address it, you’ll have to be the “bad guy” and talk to the friend directly to give him a reality check.

I feel you, OP! My sister deals with this with her husband’s best friend too. They even joked that the friend would be IN the delivery room when they have kids one day 😳 She finally sat down with her husband and told him that while she cares about the friend, she needs some lines drawn for their marriage’s sake. Maybe suggest setting one or two date nights a week that are just for you two? And no dropping in unannounced! Compromise is key.

This behavior would drive me CRAZY! You need to put your foot down with your bf and tell him his friend’s constant presence is affecting your relationship. Then talk to the friend together to make it clear you just need some alone time as a couple sometimes. If they don’t respect reasonable space, it will breed resentment.

Help! My best friend (26M) is cockblocking me without even realizing it!
I (26M) have been together with my girlfriend (22F) for a few years. She’s awesome — fun, hilarious, and crazy sexy. She puts up with my quirks and even likes watching sports with me. Absolute keeper!
The problem is, my best friend has NO boundaries. I love him like a brother but he has zero concept of personal space or alone time.
Just last night, my girl and I were enjoying some long overdue freaky time together, when who bursts through the bedroom door unannounced? Yep, my best friend. Turns out he “accidentally” made copies of my keys ages ago.
Before I can react, he’s jumped onto the bed between us asking what we’re up to. My girlfriend was mortified and hurried to cover up. There went the mood for the rest of the night thanks to Captain Cockblock!
That’s just the latest in a long string of intrusions. Double dates, surprise sleepovers in OUR bed, you name it. I’m going to have to lock down the apartment Fort Knox style to get any intimacy!
Don’t get me wrong, I would take a bullet for my best friend. But how do I politely tell him that constant third-wheeling is killing my game and giving me the most painful blue balls known to man? Is there a tactful way to set some boundaries so we BOTH stay sane and satisfied?

Dude, I felt awkward just READING this! Major props to your girlfriend for being so chill. You gotta have a talk with your boy and set some hard lines. A real best friend would respect that your relationship needs privacy too.

Your friend needs better boundaries yesterday. Sit him down, tell him you get he’s lonely but he can’t just walk in whenever, especially when sexy times are happening! Maybe suggest setting him up on some dates so he finds fulfillments elsewhere.

As much as you love your best friend, your personal life with your lady should be a priority over letting him run wild! Have a man-to-man talk and make it clear you just need some couple time a few days a week. Offer to schedule some designated bro time to keep that bond too. Gotta compromise.

Don’t feel bad about setting some hard boundaries, even if it bruises his ego at first. True friends will understand. Explain you just need some regular alone time with your gf. Offer a standing weekly bro night to keep the friendship intact too. You need to have that balance!

AITA for wanting to spend time with my best friend and his girlfriend?
Some background — my friend (let’s call him M) and I go way back to childhood. We’re basically as close as brothers. A few years ago he started dating his now serious girlfriend (we’ll call her Y).
Initially, I’ll admit I was worried M would drift away and our bromance would fade. But much to my delight, Y is awesome! She likes the same sports, laughs at my jokes, and comes to watch our competitions. Honestly it feels like I gained a sister!
Naturally, the three of us started hanging out constantly. I know me and M have always valued bro time together. But now Y joins our gaming sessions, I ride along on their date nights often, and I will even crash in their guest room after late nights! It’s been pretty great.
Or so I thought? Lately I’ve noticed them acting strange and tense around me. They barely react when I barge into their room or surprise them by their cars after work. Sometimes they pretend to be “busy” if I try making plans last minute.
I can’t figure out why though? Just the other day, I popped by to say hi only to have M rather sternly tell me I should “call before visiting from now on.” And I could swear I heard Y whisper about needing “boundaries” … whatever that means!
I’m starting to feel hurt they suddenly seem fed up with me! AITA here? Am I missing something? Someone help me decode these mixed signals!

YTA. I know you value your friendship but your total lack of boundaries is overbearing. Your friend is trying to set reasonable limits without damaging the friendship but you’re oblivious to all hints. Surprising them and inviting yourself along all the time is inconsiderate. Give them space!

Soft YTA. I get you cherish the bromance and her friendship too. But constantly crashing date nights, unannounced visits, etc is cockblocking to the max! They likely feel too awkward to bluntly tell you that they need alone time too sometimes. Tone down the clinginess before you do permanent damage!

NAH but only because you seem genuinely unaware your behavior is an issue! Most people would have picked up on the hints by now. You should DEFINITELY be calling ahead before visits or tagging along to closed plans. Give them a chance to say no thanks. Gotta let your bro spread his wings too.

YTA. You would lose your mind if your best friend was this invasive during your dates! When they make excuses or leave early, that’s NOT an invitation to join them unasked and uninvited next time! They’re just too polite to be harsh so I’ll spell it out — you have to give them personal alone time without taking offense.

——————
He showed up at the exact same time the next morning, taking his usual spot at the window.
“Your boyfriend is here,” her coworker, Leah, teased. “Like clockwork, that one. He must really like you.”
“He likes to piss me off, that’s what he likes,” Y/N grumbled. “And he’s not my boyfriend, Leah. I’d liken him more to a thorn in my side.”
“Whatever you say,” Leah grinned, “But I’m pretty sure that boy is in looooove with you.”
“Stop.”
She excused herself from the counter and made her way over to him, a cup of coffee and a donut in hand. She sat it down in front of him before taking the seat across from him again, folding her hands in front of her, “Good morning, Five.”
“Y/N,” he nodded, picking up the donut and taking a generous bite, “I told you I’d be back.”
“And here you are.”
“And here I am.”
She studied him for a moment, watching as he thumbed away a bit of chocolate from the corner of his mouth. Was she really considering working with him? Could she really stand spending more than a handful of minutes in the day near him? He was infuriating.
“Are you going to dinner at Lila and Diego’s tomorrow?” She questioned him, completely avoiding what she knows he wants to hear.
“You mean our birthday dinner? I am. Are you?”
“Of course I am,” she said, “I never miss family dinner.”
She was just happy to be included. She loved any excuse to be around the other Hargreeves. The fact that they all shared a birthday and now celebrated it together as a group was something she looked forward to every year.
“Maybe we can ride together,” he suggested casually, “I know you usually take the bus, but I just got a new car. I might as well put it to use.”
“What, so you can pester me in a place I can’t escape from?” She jested, only half joking.
“You and I both know you’re not above jumping out of a moving car, so I’d say you’re pretty safe.”
She narrowed her eyes at him, but she couldn’t help the small smile that played at the corners of her mouth. He was joking with her and she liked it.
They sat in companionable silence for a moment, staring at each other as they waited for one of them to make the next move.
“Fine,” she relented, “I get off at four tomorrow. We can leave from here.”
“Your chariot will await.”
“It doesn’t mean I’m saying yes to the other thing, Five.”
“We’ll see,” he shrugged, “I can be pretty persuasive.”
___
The bell above the door tinkled and she knew it was him before she even looked up. She could feel his eyes on her but this time he didn’t make his way over to his usual table, but came directly to the counter. He stopped in front of her, grinning. How very un-Five like.
“It’s not even four,” she told him.
“I know, but I have something to drop off and I need a cup of coffee.”
In his hands was a messily wrapped package, adorned with a lopsided bow. He slid it across the counter towards her and she peered down at it in confusion.
“What’s this?”
“A bomb,” he said sarcastically, “What does it look like? It’s a gift. Happy Birthday.”
“I didn’t get you anything.”
He rolled his eyes at her, “As if I care about that. Just open it, will you?”
She raised an eyebrow at him but complied anyways, peeling back the paper to find a small brown box. Nestled inside was a plain, white mug with ‘world’s best barista’ scrawled across it in block script font. It was incredibly basic and probably one of the best gifts she’s ever received.
She laughed heartily, turning it in her hands. It was the most Five thing he could have given her and yet, she loved it.
“And I mean it,” he said sincerely, “you really are the world’s best barista.”
“Thank you, Five,” she gushed, truly moved by the gift in her hands, “I love it.”
“I aim to please,” his words were soft, laced with something she couldn’t quite place.
Nodding at her, he went to take his place near the window. Her heart was a fluttery mess in her chest and she chastised herself for the school girl behavior. This was Five she was thinking about. Infuriating, pragmatic, Five.
She plucked his usual donut from the case, but this time she added a special adornment.
“Do you have a lighter, Leah?” She asked her friend, who she knew smoked on the down-low during her breaks.
“Is that a candle?” Leah asked, completely ignoring her question, “A birthday donut?”
“We share a birthday,” Y/N explained, “Now, do you have a lighter or not?”
“You share a birthday?” Leah squealed, “well isn’t that some true soulmate shit!”
“Oh, Lee, you don’t even know the half of it.”
Leah reached in to her back pocket and pulled out a hot pink lighter, igniting it and lighting the candle for her, “Now go charm your lover boy.”
“You’re ridiculous,” Y/N chastised her, covering the flame with her hand as she made her way over to Five.
He looked up at her, surprise flashing across his face and lighting up his eyes as she placed the donut on the table in between them, “Happy Birthday, Five.”
“Happy Birthday, Y/N,” he said quietly, his eyes locking with hers, setting her face aflame at the intensity in his gaze.
They both leaned forward at the same time and released a puff of air that extinguished the flame. He smiled warmly at her and picked up the donut, removing the candle and taking a hearty bite.
“I realized that I do have a gift for you,” she told him, “a gift in the form of an answer to your question.”
He leaned forward in anticipation, donut forgotten.
“I’ll join you at the CIA. I still think it’s ridiculous and there’s no way we’ll get away with lying, but I’m willing to try. But I’ll let you know right now that if it all goes south, I’m throwing you under the bus, sir.”
He couldn’t stop the grin that spread across his face, “I would expect nothing less.”
“I’ll need to give them my notice here, so I’ll need a few weeks,” she added, “I don’t want to leave them in the lurch.”
“Understood,” he said, “I’ll need that time to get the paperwork situation figured out anyways.”
“Okay then, I guess that’s settled. Just…don’t make me regret this, Five.” She warned.
“Y/N, I promise you that I’ll make sure you never regret saying yes.”

Flashback to when Mingi and M/n were 5.
“Gigi, do you think we’ll get married when we’re older?” m/n asked, tilting his head up at his friend. It was a hot summer day, and they were currently at the beach. M/n had needed a break from his parents, so he’d met Mingi by their rock. Something you probably didn't know is that M/n is an heir to the Han family. They own many buildings in South Korea, and expected him to be the next CEO of their main company, Han Electro.
Mingi couldn’t help but smile at the question before squatting next to the younger. “How about we make a promise? If neither of us are married at the age of 23, we’ll get married, okay?” M/n smiled and nodded, reaching up to hug his friend. Just as they let go, a man came up to them and grabbed m/n’s arm. “You stupid brat, what have I told you about running off? How can we expect you to run a company successfully if you keep doing this?” This stupid man was m/n’s father. M/n sighed and got up, dusting off his legs before smiling and waving to his friend, “Bye gigi! I’ll see you soon!” Mingi waved back and then after a few minutes he went home.
Fast forward 10 years, and now they were both 15. In a few days it was Mingi’s birthday, and he was looking forward to it. At this time, he and M/n barely hung out, but M/n always sent Mingi small gifts and clothes and stuff. Expensive stuff. For his 15th birthday, m/n have sent him a Louis Vuitton bracelet and a jacket to go with it. A few years earlier when m/n was on a business trip with his parents, Mingi had met Yunho, and the rest of ATEEZ. They had all teased Mingi when he told them that m/n was the one that had bought them for him.
A few days later, On Mingi’s 16th, M/n had showed up at his front door with a bouquet of flowers, and a sign that said ‘Will you go out with me?’ Mingi was overjoyed and obviously said yes. AFter that, they were closer than ever. M/n had told his father that he needed a break for a bit, so he was allowed one week of freedom. The two went on movie dates, dinner dates, and even spent nights with each other. They cuddled and watched movies before falling asleep.
When m/n had gone on a business trip again two weeks before ATEEZ was to leave for Coachella, he’d come back with a Kawasaki H2R (sports motorcycle). “Baby… are you trying to win me over?” Mingi had asked, a smile on his face. M/n had a guilty smile on his face as he nodded. After they put the bike in the garage, they sat on the couch together, m/nin Mingi’s arms. “You don’t have to win me over, you’re already mine.” Mingi whispered, and kissed his boyfriend’s cheek. Fast forward to present day.
ATEEZ was about to fly out of Korea, getting ready for Coachella. M/n knows this (Mingi tells him everything), and was racing towards the airport, hoping to catch them outside. He was lucky enough to spot paparazzi, and then ATEEZ’s van, skidding to a stop behind it. Mingi was clearly happy to see m/n, but tried to ignore him since he was already in the airport and surrounded by paparazzi. M/n slipped a little box into his pocket, and then stepped inside the airport. (I should tell you now that M/n had drawn some of the paparazzi away, since he was also a famous CEO(the youngest ever)) With the paparazzi pushed away from ATEEZ and Mingi whispering something to staff, the two were able to slip away into a secluded area. “M/n! Why are you here? Are you going on another business trip? Where are you ba..” Mingi was interrupted by the younger kissing him. “I don’t have a lot of time, but I just… I can’t keep seeing you and not tell you…” M/n sounded nervous, and flinched when Mingi wrapped his arms around the smaller.
“It’s okay m/nie! You can tell me anything!” Mingi smiled, but even he sounded nervous, not knowing what m/n wanted to talk about. When m/n finally stepped away from his boyfriend, he slipped the small box out of his pocket. “Min…. I’ve been meaning to ask you this for a while… but… will you… marry me?”
Mingi’s hands flew to cover his mouth, stepping back from the smaller. M/n clearly wasn’t expecting this reaction, because he seemed scared, but all fear left him as Mingi kissed M/n, and didn’t let go until he was gasping for air, a smile on his face. “Of course I will, M/n, I would love to marry you!” Mingi then rambled about the rest of ATEEZ finally getting to meet the love of his life, but M/n softly stopped him. “Ming… you know I can’t come with you… but.. Promise you’ll call okay? I’ll be watching you on TV, I promise.”
Mingi nodded and pulled M/n into another hug. “And I promise I’ll call you. When we get back can I introduce you to the others?” M/n nodded, and kissed Mingi one last time before the staff found them. M/n was silent on his car ride home, smiling really wide. After their first week at Coachella, Mingi and M/n were on a call. Mingi had told M/n everything that he’d done that week, and M/n was gushing over how Mingi had done a great job during performances.
It was now the second week, and today was their last day performing. Mingi had practically run offstage after saying goodbye to fans, wanting to tell M/n all about it. He was reaching for his phone, but got pulled away by San, who wrapped him into a bear hug. “Mingi you did great!” He shouted, still being controlled by adrenaline.
Mingi just let himself be swung around by San before Seonghwa demanded that he put Mingi down because he seemed like he was about to throw up. “I feel like this performance was much better than our other ones, good job guys!” Hongjoong said. They were now all in their van, heading towards where their afterparty was gonna be. One of the staff members had asked to see Mingi, and they were now talking about the airport situation.
“You know I'm bad at keeping secrets, M/n I couldn’t help it! They were teasing me and I just…” Mingi’s voice trailed off as he heard a chuckle from the other side of the phone. “Baby are you laughing at me?” Mingi’s voice cracked a bit as he asked this, his throat still hurting from when they performed Geurilla.
“No, no of course not baby..!” M/n answered, trying to keep his giggles to himself. Mingi had called M/n right after he’d reached his hotel room, and had told M/n everything. He’d told M/n that after the staff had talked to him, the members started teasing him. They’d bugged him about why the staff had talked to him, and he’d given in. “I’d told them… I was like ‘Okay guys… so there has been this secret I’ve kept from you guys..’ and they fell silent! Isn’t that crazy? Anyway, I was like ‘It’s regarding my private life, and I need you guys to be chill about this..’” Mingi sighed after saying this, putting his head in his hands.
“I guess they weren’t quiet about it, huh?” M/n’s voice sounded really far away through the phone, and Mingi guessed that he was in the kitchen making ramen. “Well of course not! They bugged me even more! San almost choked me because he’d jumped on me, thinking he could get the answer out of me first!” Mingi ranted, now pacing the hotel room.
M/n’s laughter bounced off the walls as Mingi put him on speakerphone. “And then what?” M/n asked, his voice louder as he stood near his phone again, the clink of glass on the counter loud. “Well…. I was like ‘Alright.. So I’ve been seeing this guy… and he makes me really happy.. And recently, before we left for Cali he.. proposed to me.’” M/n had scoffed at this, giggling as his boyfriend sighed again. “I guess you can tell how this went.. They laughed at me and I sat there like ‘What??’ but I looked at the staff, and they seemed to catch on about the Airport situation, but didn’t seem to believe me. Wooyoung asked me for a picture of you and I..” Mingi’s voice trailed off as a door opened behind him.
“Mingi? Who are you talking to?” The voice belonged to the member he was rooming with, Jongho. Mingi held his phone up to the other, showing him the screen. “Oh! Is that.. your fiancé?” The boy seemed to still not believe it, but M/n smiled to himself before saying hello, assuming he was on speakerphone. “Hey! I’m Han M/n, nice to meet you! Sorry I'm not there in person to shake your hand.” He laughed. He listened carefully as he heard sounds of Mingi pushing the other out of the room, and laughing as Jongho left. “Okay.. where was I.. Oh yeah! So I pulled out my phone and showed them a picture of you! You know the one where you were cuddling with our cat?” M/n made a sound of acknowledgement before Mingi continued, revelling over the fact that “the members had gone nuts, asking if you were ‘The famous M/n, CEO of Han Electro.’”
M/n laughed at this, now sounding far away, as he walked to the sink to wash his bowl. “Okay Min-min, I know it's late there, and you have to be tired. I’m gonna hang up, okay? You get some rest and call me in the morning.” M/n said, walking back to his phone. “Okayyy.. Goodnight M/nie! Before you hang up… promise you’ll let me introduce you to the members?” Mingi yawned at the end of his sentence, sheets ruffling as he slipped into bed and turned on his side. “
Of course baby! I can’t wait! Now get some sleep, I love you!” You could hear M/n’s smile through the phone, and Mingi loved that. The next day, ATEEZ were heading home. They’d had a long day of traveling, but weren’t tired. They’d heard from Jongho that they were going to meet M/n when they got back to Korea, and had been restless ever since. Mingi on the other hand, slept the whole flight back, having been restless the night before.
When the plane landed, Mingi had jolted awake, almost hitting his head on the low ceiling above him. It took the members a while to get off the plane, but it was worth it because of who was waiting for them. Standing near the terminal where they landed, was m/n. He was dressed in all black, a mask and glasses covering his face. San noticed him first, practically bounding over to the younger. Mingi followed suit, and M/n took his mask off to give his boyfriend a kiss.
They hugged and rocked back and forth while the members surrounded them, already asking lots of questions. “Okay okay guys calm down please, we’re attracting attention.” Hongjoong sighed and shook his head. Mingi was still Hugging m/n, now resting his head on the smallers shoulder with no intent of letting go. M/n smiled at the other members, running his hand through Mingi’s hair. “Hello! It’s nice to finally meet you all, Mingi’s told me a lot about you guys.” M/n detatched himself from Mingi so he could bow and shake hands, but Mingi grumbled and pulled m/n into a back hug instead, seeming to fall asleep a few seconds later.
They stood in the terminal and talked while the staff were taking their bags to the van for transport. The staff was okay with Mingi leaving with m/n, so after saying goodbyes, they parted ways, ATEEZ to KQ and Mingi and M/n going home.

Hey!! Its the way I could have gone on and on about that Kawasaki but didn't (im so proud of myself for that), I really love motorcycles guys.
Anyway!! I hope this is what you wanted!! I might have added a bit too much backstory, and cut out the fact that Yunho and staff knew about m/n, but honestly i think it makes it a bit better. I hope the ending was okay! I was debating on adding the wedding so I just left it as it is now, with m/n meetinf ATEEZ finally.
Spotify must have known I was working on this because ATEEZ was playing nonstop and I rarely hear ATEEZ even though theyre in all my playlists💪💪

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July 24, 2017
Bad Omens left Richmond.
The previous year had undoubtedly been the most hectic of your lives. After months of hard work and merging all your ideas, you presented the tracks to a record label that seemed interested in the band's concept, and they suggested releasing your first album.
Since then, you’d been on a constant quest to make a name for yourselves on the road, playing shows in small venues for crowds that weren’t always the most engaging, and posting YouTube videos with the label’s support. Every bit of creative input came from your minds, and it was impossible to disagree when the synergy seemed to resonate with each of you.
A simple stage at Warped Tour felt monumental to you all, and naturally, you gave it your all the moment you stepped in front of the audience for the first time. Each time you heard more voices singing along at your shows, it warmed your heart in a way you couldn’t quite describe.
The chaotic routine was bearable because, to you and the guys, it felt like fun. Every performance outdid the last. You and Noah danced, jumped, whipped your hair, spun around, played with your voices, dove into the crowd, and teased your friends as they played. It was impossible not to feel at home when you were with them.
"Thank you so much, Warped Tour!" Noah said, breathless, a hand over his chest in gratitude.
"You made this afternoon so special for Bad Omens!" you chimed in as everyone gathered beside you. "We’ll never forget this!"
The crowd applauded, and you all exchanged glances, your eyes shimmering with emotion. It happened every time—those butterflies as if it were the very first show. Linking arms with Noah and Ruffilo, you all bowed deeply in gratitude, smiling wide. Folio tossed his drumsticks into the air, and Jolly followed with his picks before you all exited the stage, exhilarated and one after another.
"THAT WAS FUCKING AMAZING!" he yelled, startling you as he grabbed you from behind, lifting your feet off the ground and stumbling with your steps backstage. "Have I told you you were great today?"
"Only about a thousand times," you laughed, trying to dodge his desperate kisses on the side of your face as you shrank your neck.
In the distance, you could hear the crew dismantling the stage while you all drifted apart, each clutching a bottle of water. The guys greeted members of other bands and received praise for the stellar performance as you watched the hustle and waved at most of them. The adrenaline still surged through your veins, bubbling as intensely as your breath.
Your eyes met Noah’s just a few feet away. He seemed utterly oblivious to what the other band’s vocalist was saying, so focused was he on you. That familiar glimmer in his eyes was routine by now, and the soft wind barely stirred his long hair, lightened by the day’s glow.
It had been two years this month.
Two years of spending every day together from sunrise to sunset, and your stomach still fluttered whenever you caught his lips curving into a shy smile, as if it were your first date. The one that never actually happened thanks to the rain.
But you’d never been so grateful for it, for introducing you to him in his best and most vulnerable form. Just one look like the one he was giving you now—when your bodies collided against the damp ground after a dance without music—and you’d decided you needed to be his.
Since then, everything about the rain had become your shared trademark.
"Hey!" Jolly’s voice snapped you out of your thoughts. "There’s a radio team interviewing some of the bands performing today, and I managed to get you and Noah into a quick chat with them!"
He seemed thrilled, and his energy was infectious.
"That’s fantastic!"
"Yeah! I think it’s a great idea, and they’re already waiting!"
At the exit from the backstage area, near the trailers serving as dressing rooms for the bands, a crew stood with cameras, microphones, and a panel displaying the radio’s logo. Rock Radio was the main and most respected source for the genre, and the chance to speak with them falling into your lap was too good an opportunity to miss.
"This is my first introduction to Bad Omens, and I have to admit, your sound is incredible! How does it feel to play a festival for the first time?" the interviewer asked enthusiastically, directing the first question to Noah, who looked just as excited and still buzzing with post-show adrenaline.
"Surreal!" he began, gripping the microphone a little too tightly. "I couldn’t ask for better company when the entire band works so hard to be unique. They’re responsible for every single one of those claps, and we all feel like we truly deserve to be here after so much dedication to make this happen!"
"Amazing! The vocal alternation is truly fascinating, and you both execute it so naturally—it’s like you’re one!"
"None of this would happen without the most talented person I know." As he finished, you felt your face gradually warm as he wrapped an arm around your shoulder, pulling you into a hug. "It’s crazy, but I really see her voice as part of mine, and I feel like I could never do this alone. Without her, I’m just Noah."
Your attention instinctively turned upward, catching him smiling at you from the corner of his eyes. The interviewer pursed his lips, speechless for a moment, before refocusing, his gaze now entirely on you.
"Wow!" he exclaimed, smiling wide at you. "It’s undeniable—your voice is so unique, unlike anything the genre has seen before, especially when paired with the riffs and growls. Bad Omens has been around for two years, but do you still face challenges as a female vocalist in this space?"
"Well, ignoring some criticism doesn’t make it go away. I always try to filter whether the feedback is about my work or something I can improve…"
"Impossible, when she’s so good," Noah interrupted, tilting the mic toward him for a second.
"If it’s not…" You reclaimed the mic, shooting him a playful side-eye. "I do my best to disregard it. Honestly, the band has built a great fan base—open-minded, respectful, and always supportive of what we propose. That’s important to me because it helps me see if we’re on the right path."
"Impossible because she really is that good!" The interviewer couldn’t hold back his laughter, nor could you, as Noah cut in again, swiping the mic to emphasize with a raised finger.
"There’s no doubt who your number one fan is, huh?"
"We’re an excellent duo! I don’t think I could have done so well if he hadn’t believed in me first." Your eyes briefly wavered as they met his, then turned back to the interviewer, your teeth lightly biting your lower lip. "I owe Noah all the confidence in myself that I’ve been learning to embrace over time."
Butterflies danced in your stomach, fluttering back and forth. Your hand gripped the microphone tightly, nerves taking hold as you faced a camera and answered questions about yourself for the first time. Talking about him remained one of your favorite topics, and bringing him into the context of the interview made the atmosphere less tense.
The interview had been incredible, good enough to make it on the air, and a pleasant sensation tingled across your skin. Things were heading in the right direction, and you felt... happy.
The guys were gathered, helping the crew load the instruments into the van. Noah was coiling some cables, and the others signaled to each other to pick up the pace. Smoke escaped your lips as you watched them work like a colony of ants preparing for winter, flicking the ash from your cigarette onto the ground.
"We have exactly four hours to get to the next venue," Gerard approached, speaking on the phone as he handed you a flyer. It had the band's name and the time of their set later that night at a bar a few miles away. "The crew left another outfit for you in the dressing room. Change on the way."
"Wait." You called for his attention, and as he turned back to you, he put the phone aside and faced you completely. "What do you mean, another show in just a few hours?"
"This slot opened up to open for a friend’s band. They had hired someone else, but something came up, so I suggested you."
"We just performed, and doing this again in a four-hour window is too much for us!" Your fingers crumpled the flyer into a small ball before stuffing it into the pocket of your shirt. "If I’m not mistaken, you’re supposed to let us know when you're adding something to our schedule."
Gerard let out a loud sigh, scratching his left eyebrow with his index finger before leaning in to meet your height. His breath reeked of alcohol, his eyes bloodshot with some irritation, and his nostrils flared.
"Sweetheart, your memory should also remind you that your band is nothing right now. If you really want to make it, you need to stop dragging your feet," he growled.
"How about you get on stage and scream into a mic for two straight hours? Do that, and then tell me who’s dragging their feet!" Your voice was steady as you stepped forward. "Now, let’s talk about something interesting since you want to turn this into a business meeting, Gerard. What’s the revenue from the merch sold today at the festival?"
"Sales weren’t that great," he snapped back. "There’s still plenty of inventory left, which, by the way, is in the van."
"Along with the extra stock you brought without our permission?" Your eyes narrowed. "Am I wrong, or did you bring more pieces to intentionally create this excuse of poor sales to report the wrong figures?"
This wasn’t an empty accusation. You had taken advantage of your friends’ distraction after the interview and wandered around the festival until you stopped at the merch booth. Every single Bad Omens item had been sold, even though, suspiciously, the booth had been placed far away from the main crowd, almost as if it were meant to go unnoticed.
"You’re so insolent," Gerard muttered, shaking his head. "The revenue split will be discussed when we’re back in the office. You should get over yourself because if I really wanted to steal something, it wouldn’t be from someone as irrelevant as you!"
"Like your son’s band?" you shot back with a lazy smirk, watching his expression darken. "That might be a good option to take our place tonight because Bad Omens won’t be playing again today!"
"Everything is already set for this show, and your tantrum won’t change that. You don’t get to pick and choose jobs when your band is trying to make it, and you all signed a contract obligating you to appear at any event the label sets up!" He jabbed a finger at your chest. "I don’t care if you’re tired or if this pushes you to your limits. You will perform, and for every off-key note, I’ll dock your pay if you don’t do this show with the most enthusiasm of your life. Understood?"
That damn contract.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Gerard pull something from his pocket—a small packet with a single pill inside. Discreetly, he slipped it into your hand, clamping it shut with his own, holding your fist tightly.
"If you can’t handle the routine you signed up for, take a little incentive," he growled, tightening his grip to focus your attention. "But don’t forget—you’re required to give me a stellar performance no matter what you use to get there. See you in four hours."
Abruptly, he released you and sniffed sharply before walking away, leaving you alone with the unfamiliar object. Your eyes carefully studied your palm. Inside the packet, the light pink pill was small, marked by a single line across the top. You’d always hated taking medication, not even for headaches. The taste was awful, and your body took too long to dissolve this kind of stuff.
Outside the packaging, you kept studying that thing between your fingers. It had a rough texture and no discernible smell.
"Ready to go?" his voice startled you, and in an impulsive gesture, you shoved the pill into your mouth, swallowing it immediately. The bitter, unpleasant taste lingered on your palate, scratching down your throat. Noah watched as you slowly turned toward him, narrowing his eyes. "Hey, what's with that face?"
Noah chuckled, touching the tip of your nose with his finger to dissolve the strange expression you were making.
"Nothing." You forced a smile, squinting to hide the unease caused by that peculiar taste clawing at your throat. "Shall we?"
Growing up alone had placed the weight of solving every problem solely on your shoulders. There was no one to share the burden; wherever you looked, you only saw yourself. Crying for help or seeking support from someone wasn’t an option—your four walls reflected only one face: your own. The most painful part was having to build your own ground while learning to walk, with no support, no safety net—just the obligation to take firm, flawless steps.
Even surrounded by people who genuinely cared about you and wanted the best for you, something deeply rooted in your subconscious insisted that the problems in your life were exclusively yours. No one should cross that line. For you, relying on someone felt like selfishness; it was your responsibility to be strong enough to bear everything on your own, never asking for help.
The stage lights flickered in hues of orange and purple, creating an atmosphere that wavered between the real and the surreal. You stood at the center of it all, draped in a dark dress that clung to your body like a second skin, paired with high vinyl boots. Every movement felt calculated yet disconnected, as if an invisible force was pulling you into a parallel reality. No one noticed the peculiar gleam in your eyes—a reflection of whatever was coursing through your veins.
The first note left your throat like a whisper laced with melancholy. Your voice was flawless, slightly drawn out, as if trying to trap each syllable in the air before releasing it. You sang in a rhythm that fluctuated—sometimes slow, sometimes almost provocative, as if each verse were a confession. There was no fault in your pitch, yet something about the melody felt unusual—heavier, more intimate.
"Are you okay?" Noah asked discreetly during the intro of the next song. When your eyes locked onto his, a distorted vision took over—he seemed blurry, almost comical. "Hey, are you okay?"
"Of course I am!" You playfully shoved his broad shoulder, noticing his expression shift, though something prevented you from fully identifying it.
Surely, he was having as much fun as you.
Your steps, however, were a different story. Slowly, you crossed the stage with movements that defied balance, teetering between sensual and erratic. Each gesture carried an exaggerated languidness, a broken grace, as if you were dancing alone in a world only you could see.
"Are you with me tonight, aren’t you?" Your voice came out honeyed, laden with an unsettling charm, as your eyes scanned the crowd with a gaze that blended sweetness and debauchery.
Your sweaty hand gripped the microphone like a lover, pulling it closer to your lips as you laughed softly—for no apparent reason. “Ah... It’s so good to see such beautiful faces staring at me. You’re all so gorgeous. You have no idea how much…” The last word came out almost like a moan, leaving the audience caught between discomfort and fascination.
The beats of the music seemed to synchronize with whatever was happening inside you. As the song progressed, your movements became freer, more erratic, as though each note was guiding you further from where you were. But no one knew—or maybe didn’t want to know—that there was something more to this night.
You were the star, and even under an influence that made the world spin in strange ways, you were too perfect for anyone to question it.
“What the hell was that earlier?” Noah’s tone carried a sharp edge, and you froze before him. In your mind, ever since you left the stage, nothing had been wrong. You were a star. “Are you hearing me?”
“Why are you talking so loudly?” Your body leaned backward, and he caught you before you could collapse onto the table with the water bottles.
Noah leaned closer to your mouth and sniffed—a gesture you clearly misinterpreted as you tried to kiss him, only for him to turn his face away.
“There’s no smell of alcohol, so why are you acting like this?”
“STOP BEING SUCH A BORING!” you shouted suddenly, wrenching your arm free from his grip. “Holy crap, you’re so annoying sometimes! Why can’t you just enjoy things without ruining the fun all the time?”
He stood there, analyzing everything coming out of your mouth as if looking at a stranger. Your heartbeat was so fast it felt like your heart might burst from your chest at any moment.
“What kind of joke is this?” he asked, stepping back when you tried to approach. “Why are you treating me this way?”
“When you try to fit me into a box like I’m just a piece of a Rubik’s Cube, I feel…” you began, but the words seemed to die on your lips as sweat trickled down your temple.
“You feel?” he pressed, his tone firmer. “Say it!”
“Suffocated.”
For the first time in two years, you saw him look at you with different eyes. They didn’t shine with the fervent passion you were used to seeing, nor the euphoria of your presence. Noah’s eyes held disappointment.
“I heard some shouting outside and thought it was strange coming from you guys…” Ruffilo’s voice cut through the tension as you both stared each other down. “But you’re just joking around, right?”
“We’re definitely not,” Noah replied without taking his eyes off you.
Sniffling to regain his composure, he stormed out of the backstage area as swiftly as a gust of furious wind, leaving you and Ruffilo in a painful silence.

'*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*' lowkey - mikage reo
syp. reo doesn't do lowkey. it's all or nothing for him... except when he decides he just can't wait to make you his forever
Tumblr media
The lights are low and the TV hums in the background.
Your boyfriend’s amethyst eyes never leave the screen, engrossed in a documentary you were dozing off to.
“Tired?” His voice, a smooth baritone, nudges you awake much like his thumb running gentle circles on your hip bone. You’re dressed in his jersey and nothing else, limbs aching from the positions he took you in earlier tonight.
“Hmm,” you trace your tired gaze around the halo of purple hair perfectly framing his handsome face. “M’hungry.”
Reo lowers down the volume, turning to face you with an amused smile. “Let me cook for you.” Before you can tell him it’s fine and you’d go to bed with an empty stomach, he stands, offering you his hand.
You pad into the kitchen, sitting on the wide island as he moves around the pristine space, pulling out vegetables, meats and noodles from the large, smart fridge he insisted on buying as your housewarming gift. Reo hums while he cooks, and you find yourself lost in the recollection of the very first date you both had where he confessed he once burned water.
“Remember when you told me you couldn’t cook before?”
The fragrant smell of garlic and spices reaches your nose, your stomach rumbling in response.
He chuckles. “Yeah. You looked at me like I was an idiot.”
“Hmm... you still are one," you retort. As an afterthought, you mumble, "Sometimes.”
He turns and arches one graceful brow at you. “You do know I’m handling your food, right? Salt and sugar looks the same, so watch it.”
You bite down on a smile, enjoying his annoyance. “And my mother said that if you wanted to get married to me, you need to at least know how a toaster works.”
Reo tosses the pre-made noodles into the sizzling with a snort. “I remember. She sat me down and showed me the buttons.”
"I'm forever grateful she taught you very valuable life skills.”
You giggle, flinching back to avoid his swat.
“So, am I in the clear to put the ring on it, or not?” It was his turn to tease. Your smile softens.
“Maybe. We’ll see.”
Reo stops stir frying the noodles, putting off the flame. He’s uncharacteristically quiet. Usually, your boyfriend was always equipped with a comeback to your endless banter, but his silence made you queasy.
“Baby?”
“What if I do it now?”
He’s staring at you with unabashed yearning, amethyst melting into crystalline pools. You feel your breath lodge somewhere under your heart. He pulls back his hair, lets it fall in his face, and rubs his bare neck. Your eyes flit briefly to his equally naked torso, wondering how someone could look this angelic even when they were making chow mein.
You swallow the lump back down your throat. “L-like propose to me? Here? In this kitchen? That’s not like you.”
It’s true. Mikage Reo and excess go hand-in-hand. This is a man who once gifted you a thousand balloons on your thousand day anniversary, and asked you to be his during New Years Eve. Your engagement would easily outshine these events, if Reo wanted to make it happen.
He blows out his cheeks, scrunching his nose. “Why? Can’t believe I’ll do it?”
You shrug. “Not like I don’t want you to, but c’mon—I don’t think you’d be the type to be lowkey.”
“But, do you like lowkey?”
He twists his fingers, and you realise—oh. He’s nervous.
Your smile is purity and mischief in one twitch. “I like you, Reo. Lowkey, highkey, extra. As long as you’re there, I have everything I need.”
His shoulders tense, and he looks away. You can’t read his mind, but if you could, you would hear nothing but the sweetest music humming just for you. The light you effortlessly spilled around his thoughts. The exploding happiness falling into place piece by piece as Mikage Reo put together the idea that he could never spend another useless second without making sure you were his forever.
His knee hits the marble floor, and the square in his sweatpants pocket materialises in his palm.
Your laughing expression melts into shock, and you stifle a gasp. “R-Reo…”
He pries open the velvet lid with shaky fingers, lower lip trembling. The dishes are cluttering the sink, the TV is still blaring on in the background and you barely have clothes on, but Reo doesn’t care. He doesn’t care because yes—there are no fireworks, no fancy desserts spelling out declarations of love or a beachside he could fully rent to make his wishes come true. But, you’re here. You’ve always been here for him. Throughout his soccer career, when he finally took over Mikage Corp, and amidst every corporate scandal and scare. You were his from the beginning as much as he was yours.
No other riches in this world mattered beyond your smaller hand in his, his ring shining from your left finger.
You rub at your eyes, and slide to your feet, using the corner of the island to support yourself.
“I d-don’t have a speech, but I love you. Always,” he murmurs, tender and sure. “Marry me, please? You’ll make me so happy if you say ‘yes’.”
You can barely see the diamond ring through your tears, its shine overshadowed by his wide eyes filled with nothing but love.
“Yes,” you whisper in a thick voice. “Yes, always. Always, Reo. I want to marry you.”
His breath comes out in a shudder, and he almost drops the ring in excitement. The sparkling circle wraps around your finger gracefully, and his arms come next around your waist, bringing you to his chest.
For the first time in his life, he can’t find the right words to say. Someone told him that when you know it’s love, you would know.
Reo had always assumed it was a bunch of crap, but when you sigh his name and kiss his neck, he can’t help but feel it in his bones.
Love.
All of it. With no expectations or price tags. Drenched in the richest opulence coating his every exhale with the lightest ease.
Spelling out you, you, you.
Just you, right here with him for the rest of his life, forever.

Have a great day !!
——————————
To say long distance was hard would be a massive understatement. But was it worth it? Every bit. Course, it came with hardships - not being able to see each other often or touch each other, but it was so worth it. "Hey…" He smiled at you softly, taking in your features once you answered his call. "Hey sungie! I missed you." you responded, eyes full of love as you gazed at him. His hair had changed colour for the new comeback, now back to its natural shade, with slight bags under his eyes due to the busy schedule he'd been having.
Jisung chuckled, he could hear the joy in your voice. "I missed you too…baby." Jisung smiled, he had been waiting all day for you to be home. When you finally messaged him that you reached home, he immediately called you. "it's been a while…" He sighed. He felt as though time was passing by so slowly, especially since it was taking him so long to see you. Jisung tried to smile but something was weighing down on him. "Ji? What's up, sweet?" you asked gently, your smile turning into a frown. He took a deep breath, his leg anxiously bouncing as he took a moment to respond. "I hate being long-distance." he admitted quietly, trying to hide him getting emotional. "I love you so much, but I just...I want us together." he continued, his voice cracking and eyes glossy.
"Oh, angel.." you murmured softly, eyes softening. "Hey, hey, hey..we'll get through this together." you tried to comfort, immediately pulling your laptop out. "Baby…" Jisung's voice broke as he let himself break down. He couldn't contain his emotions. "I'm sorry, I'm just…" Jisung's voice was breaking as he tried to speak. He was fighting back tears as he tried his best to stop himself as he was starting to cry. "I just miss you too much…" Jisung said, wiping his eyes with one of his hands. "Don't ever apologise, Ji." you assured, eyes gentle as you looked at your laptop for something. Jisung sniffled, his lip twitching slightly as he looked at you. His heart beating fast as he waited for what you were about to show him. "What is it?" He wondered as he wiped away his tears with his free hand.
"I'm coming to see you."
----
You were in his room at the dorms, waiting for him to get back from wherever he was, the other dream members helping to surprise him. you stayed quiet as you heard voices enter the dorms and footsteps approaching his room. Jisung walked in with the Dream members behind him, a huge smile covering his face when he saw you. He looked as if he was a little in disbelief. All the Dream members smiled as they watched and waited for Jisung to see you in the room waiting for him. "Told you, sungie." you grinned, standing up and giggling softly at his reaction.
Jisung rushed over to you, hugging you tightly. The dream members laughed at his reaction as they smiled. "You really came…" Jisung grinned, still in disbelief that you were here with him. His eyes were wide as he pulled back slightly to get a look at you. "Of course I did." you murmured, cupping his face and pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. Jisung wrapped his arms around your waist, grinning as he felt your body press against his. He enjoyed this moment, embracing every ounce of you before planting a soft kiss on your chin. "I love you…" Jisung said, a wide grin forming on his face as the dream members left the room. Now it was just both of you alone in his room on his bed. "I love you so much more, my sweet boy." you whispered, kissing him lovingly.
Jisung returned the soft kiss before kissing you back more passionately. He held your body close to his as your hands ran through each other's hair. He was lost in the moment as he wrapped both his arms around you, holding you back gently. It was just the two of you in his room, now sharing each other's presence. It felt surreal to him, being in this same room with you, finally able to touch and hold you. He missed this feeling of being with you physically. "Oh! These are for you too." you hummed, reaching over to his desk to grab the flower bouquet.
Jisung looked surprised as he heard you pick something up from his desk. He was curious as to what you picked up. He looked over to see you holding a flower bouquet. He looked at you with an excited expression on his face. "Oh! You bought me flowers?…" Jisung gasped, looking at the bouquet as a soft smile spread across his face. "Flowers for my pretty boy." you murmured softly, forehead against his. Jisung chuckled softly, gently wrapping his hands around the bouquet and pulling it closer to him with a fond grin. "Thank you baby…" He grinned, then wrapped his arms around you gently, pressing his lips to your forehead in appreciation.
This is exactly what he needed after a long week.

You’re starting to think you might be a terrible friend.
It's been a week and a half since Maya's art show when Jimin slides into the chair next to you in your office building's cafeteria. You've worked at the same company since graduation but in different departments, so while you don't see each other every day, you occasionally grab lunch together or pop over to each other's desk for a quick chat.
"Hey, stranger," he chirps, setting his food on the table before peering closely at your face. "Almost forgot what you looked like."
You roll your eyes at him. After the incident at the gallery sent your brain into an emotional spiral, you had decided to put some distance between you and Taehyung until you could figure out what the hell this all meant for your friendship. As a result, you hadn't been over to the guys' apartment since then—an unusually long amount of time for you to stay away.
Jimin frowns at your lack of a response, leaning forward until you look at him. "You avoiding us?"
"No," you say simply, busying yourself by taking a bite of your lunch.
"Sorry, let me rephrase. Are you avoiding Tae?"
You chew slowly, carefully considering your words before settling on, "Why would I be?"
"I don't know, that's why I'm asking. For a friend of course." Jimin shrugs. "He mentioned that you haven't really been talking to him—asked if I knew why. Plus, you missed two Sunday meal preps."
"I've missed them before—"
"Two!"
You purse your lips, guilt creeping in at the thought of Taehyung spending two nights cooking alone as you broke your tradition. "You can tell him what I told him—I've been busy."
Jimin frowns again, watching you stare at the table as you chew another bite. "Is something going on? Did he say something to you?"
"About what?" you ask, eyes snapping up to his.
"I..." he hesitates, suddenly uneasy. "I don't know. I just know that I've never seen you two like this."
"Like what?"
"Apart."
You give a dry laugh, more out of nerves than anything. "Chim, we're not literally attached at the hip, you know? We have our own lives."
"Yah, you know that's not what I mean." He sighs. "I can just tell he's missing you, that's all.”
If getting called out on missing meal prep nights made you feel guilty, then this is the true slap to the face. Taehyung may be mild and introspective by nature—a quiet force in his own right—but he holds close those who are dear to him, and you know he can't be pleased with your recent silence.
Still, any guilt tingling through your veins inevitably winds up outweighed by the memory of the flash of heartbreak that had crossed his face at the party, reinforcing your need for space.
"Well we'll see each other in a couple days," you murmur, a tiny burst of excitement breaking into your mind at the thought of your upcoming vacation.
Property of Jungkook's family, the beach house rarely used by his parents had become a staple for your friend group over the years as the go-to site for New Year’s parties and summer holidays. When Hoseok and Sunny had lamented the astronomical cost of the wedding and how they were going to opt out of having bachelor and bachelorette parties to help save money, Jungkook had offered up the house to do a combined pre-wedding bash to celebrate their upcoming nuptials.
Jimin taps his fingers on the table, looking at you quietly before accepting the change in topic. "It should be fun. Jace coming?"
"No, he has that conference."
"Damn," Jimin huffs. "Does that guy ever get a day off?"
"Guess he had to afford the ring somehow," you say, the corners of your mouth tilting up on impulse.
Jimin smiles back. "And here I was, wishfully thinking we might get a front row seat to a proposal this weekend."
“Not his vibe.” You scrunch your nose. “He never went to the house as frequently as everyone else. And I don’t know if he’d want a bunch of other people around. At least not people who know us.”
“Aww, why not?” Jimin whines. “We could all celebrate with you! And Maya could take pictures!”
“Or Tae.”
“Or—yeah, or Tae.”
You pretend not to have noticed his hesitation or the way he startled at that, and certainly not the way it made your pulse jump. Has everyone really been seeing this except you?
“Regardless,” you say, trying to ignore the sudden nausea rolling in your stomach, “I don’t think he’ll do it in front of you guys. And if he was going to ask Maya to take pictures, I think he would’ve done so by now if he was going to propose soon.”
When you had told Maya about the ring the afternoon after the gallery opening, she’d seemed genuinely surprised, clapping her hands together and immediately calling dibs on being maid of honor.
Go figure.
“Ah, well,” Jimin sighs. “There’s always the planning to help with.” He holds up a hand and begins ticking off his fingers. “And the bridal shower, the bachelorette party, rehersal dinner, eventual baby shower—“
“Woah, Park, getting a little ahead of yourself now, no?”
“Y/N, this is an exciting time for you! I’m excited for you!” He slurps down a mouthful of his noodle bowl. “And maybe I’m living a little vicariously through you. Maybe. A little.”
“Geez, Kook’s right, you are in a drought.”
“Oh, great. You too now?”
You giggle as he dramatically presses a hand to his forehead, food puffing out his cheeks.
“But really though,” he says, leaning forward again with concern in his eyes, “you are excited, right? After you told us about the ring, you seemed a bit off.”
Shit.
“I don’t know what you mean.”
He raises an eyebrow. “I haven’t seen you get drunk that fast in a while.”
“I was happy for Maya and Tae.”
“And yourself?”
“Yeah, and myself.”
Jimin stares at you for a long few seconds, clearly not buying what you’re selling. “Fine. Don’t tell me.” He leans back in his chair in a way that says he’s letting you off the hook. “But you’d better figure out this weird thing with Tae before he corners you at the house. Good luck avoiding him then.”
Okay, maybe not entirely off the hook.
Tumblr media
The rest of the short work week passes in a blink, and you quickly find yourself packing for your trip on Wednesday night, the plan being to leave Thursday morning and stay until Monday. Jace fiddles with his phone on the bed, occasionally glancing up to watch you flit around the room as you fill your travel bag with an excessive amount of clothes.
"Are you leaving for five days or a month?" he teases as you cram ten pairs of underwear into a side pocket.
"I like to keep my options open," you say. "Never know what could happen with the weather."
"Or your bladder, apparently."
"Hey, it's gonna be hot. I'll have to hydrate."
He laughs at that before his eyes settle on you with a warmth that has you shifting under his gaze.
“What?”
“I just love you, you know?” he hums.
Warmth blooms in your chest. “I love you, too.”
“It’s going to suck being apart.”
“I know,” you sigh. “I wish you could’ve come.”
At your words, you feel like you can literally see a light bulb turn on in his head as his expression brightens with an idea. “Do you want to take my jacket?”
He can only mean one jacket. You’d found it together a month after you started dating at a thrift shop downtown, and it’s been his signature piece of clothing ever since. Jace had pulled the bomber jacket and its bright green satin off the rack, and your first reaction had been to laugh. The thing practically glowed.
“You’ll look like a traffic light,” you’d giggled.
But Jace was already pulling the shimmering material over his shoulders. “Consider this your green light to jump my bones whenever you want,” he’d said with a wiggle of his eyebrows.
“I’d feel bad separating you from it, to be honest,” you say in the present. “I’m pretty sure a piece of your soul is tied to that jacket by now.”
He pouts. “You’ll be carrying a piece of my heart already; what’s a piece of my soul?”
“Smooth.” You poke at your bag. “I may not have any extra room in here though.”
“Fair enough, but if you change your mind, the offer still stands. What time are you leaving tomorrow?"
"Eleven. Should get us there a little before lunch."
"Us?" He pauses, setting down his phone. "You're driving with Tae?"
"No, Maya." A tinge of panic drops into your chest at the mention of Taehyung's name. Does he know? "Why?"
Jace shrugs, nonchalant. "No reason, just wondering. And you're back Monday?"
"Mhm, by dinnertime." You settle on the bed next to him, trailing your fingers along his forearm. "Do you want to maybe do a date night after work that day?"
He sighs deeply, tilting his head back against the headboard. "We have our conference debrief Monday, so who knows when I'll get home." You nod in understanding, but the disappointment must show on your face because then Jace is leaning forward to take your hand in his. "I'll tell you what, I know work has been keeping me from you lately, so let me make up for it.”
The pads of his fingers lightly dance along your jaw. "Fancy date night next Saturday? That upscale Italian place on Fifth that you love so much? I can make a reservation."
Your heart pounds as you will your eyes not to subconsciously drift to his desk, and you put on your best poker face. "It's a date."
Tumblr media
The drive proves an easy one for you and Maya as sunny weather and a surprising lack of traffic has you at the house in under an hour. As you drive through the iron gates, a small mansion, white and pristine, spreads itself out before you, and you're once again reminded of just how wealthy a family Jungkook comes from.
You had grown up very well-off, sure, but Jungkook’s parents and their vast real estate portfolio are on an entirely different level of rich. And while your parents had immediately cut you off right after you left for college, Jungkook’s parents continue to supplement his bartending income with a monthly allowance to this day.
The word “spoiled” is a bit of an understatement when it comes to your friend.
"You sure you don't want anything more serious with Kook?" you tease Maya, who sits in the passenger seat with her dark sunglasses over her eyes. "All this could be yours."
"As if," she scoffs. "Not worth it to have to put up with his ass for the rest of eternity."
You key in the code for the front door and are greeted by a multitude of voices, the cavernous open-concept kitchen/dining room/living room only serving to amplify those inside. Hoseok and Sunny are quick to reel you in, introducing you to Sunny's three bridesmaid friends, Hoseok's brother (who you’ve met a few times before), and—
"Joonie!"
Namjoon swoops in to pull you into a bear hug while lamenting how long it's been since he last saw you. Hoseok's best friend since freshman year of college, the former pre-med major had been a core member of your group of friends, but med school combined with helping to manage his family's restaurant means that you rarely see him nowadays in spite of him sharing an apartment with Hoseok and Sunny.
"How's the roomie search going?" you ask as Namjoon pulls Maya into an equally crushing hug.
"Mmph, still no luck. Though I may have an old friend from grade school moving into the city soon, so we'll see if that pans out." He throws a quirked brow at Hoseok. "But I haven't entirely given up on convincing these two to reconsider breaking up the dream team."
"Ah, Joon, you really wanna live with two newlyweds that badly?" Hoseok whines. "Just think about it for two seconds. Really think about it."
Namjoon clicks his tongue, cheeks now tinged with a dusting of pink. "Okay, maybe you have a point."
The light mingling continues as everyone settles in, and you find yourself taking stock of the kitchen and planning a grocery run with Sunny's friends when the last three members of your party come spilling through the door. Your companions head back to the entrance for introductions, but you stay firmly put, mindlessly busying yourself with plates and silverware, nerves alight at the thought of who just entered the house.
Voices still echoing from the living room, it's only a minute or so later when you sense the quiet presence of someone stepping into the kitchen, and, ever in sync, you don't need to turn around to know who.
"Hey, can I talk to you?"
You turn on instinct, your body responding to his voice before your brain can remind you of your avoidance. Taehyung leans against the kitchen island in a long-sleeved yellow shirt, baseball cap turned backwards on his head. Chin slightly tilted towards his chest, he's gazing at you from under his lashes, and you recognize it as nerves. "I, um, I'm about to go on a grocery run."
"I can come with?" he offers. "Keep you company, carry the heavy stuff—"
"I made plans to go with Sunny's friends, actually."
"Oh, okay." His shoulders drop ever so slightly, and you glance away at the shoreline crashing in the distance, anywhere but at your best friend looking like a kicked puppy in front of you because of your own cowardice.
"Listen, Y/N—"
"Later?" You quickly interrupt, not mentally prepared to have this conversation right now, especially with Jimin casting you looks from where he stands in the living room.
Taehyung licks his lips, seeming to scan your face for something before he swallows down words on the tip of his tongue, grimacing as if they're nails. "Yeah, okay. Later."
Tumblr media
When you said later, you truly meant it. While you and Sunny’s friends (Taehyung thinks their names were Iseul, Hana, and Yumi) run out for groceries, the rest of the group bustles around the house, splitting up rooms, settling in, and eventually migrating to the pool. Taehyung tries to catch you again when you return, but you hurry past him with a box of liquor, mumbling something about helping Jungkook set up the bar out back. Sunny’s friends dump the rest of the groceries on the kitchen island before scurrying away to the back deck with everyone else, which is how Taehyung winds up unpacking the bags.
Alone.
Nice.
He’s pushing a box of ramyeon on top of the fridge when he hears the back door click and slide open behind him.
“Need a hand?”
Namjoon walks into the kitchen, fingers poking at one of the bags.
“Yeah, sure. Thanks.”
They unload the groceries in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes before Namjoon says, “So how have things been?”
Taehyung shrugs a shoulder. “Ah, you know, the usual. You?”
“Same.”
Quiet takes over again, and Taehyung thinks the conversation has ended before it even really started as he moves to place a bottle of orange juice into the fridge. But then—
“I heard about Y/N and Jace.”
Taehyung freezes mid-motion, the cool air from the open fridge slipping out and chilling his skin. When he looks up at Namjoon, the other man is studying him with a calm intensity that raises goosebumps along his arms. It’s not his first time being under Namjoon’s microscope, but he’ll never get used to the feeling of being simultaneously picked apart and comforted. Because while his friend may exude a quiet warmth, he always gives the sense that there’s also a million calculations going on under the surface at any given time.
It’s easy to let one’s guard down around Namjoon.
With that in mind, Taehyung opts for the simplest answer, slowly closing the refrigerator and saying, “Yeah?”
Namjoon nods, equally slow. “Are you alright?”
“I’m great,” Taehyung says, breaking the eye contact and closing the refrigerator to reach for another bag. “She’s always wanted this. And Jace is…” He finds himself rooting around his brain trying to find a descriptor for the guy. For someone who he’s known for several years, it’s bizarre how he can’t find a single word for him.
Weird.
“She’s happy with him,” is what he eventually comes out with.
“But is he right for her?” Namjoon presses.
“You think he’s not?”
Namjoon reaches up to put a few bags of snacks into a cupboard. “I don’t know. It’s like he was always around in college, but he was never truly present, you know?”
“That’s a Joon-ism if I’ve ever heard one.”
Namjoon smiles, a dimple dotting his cheek. “You don’t get what I mean?”
“No, I do. But that’s not important, is it? It doesn’t matter if we think he’s the right guy; it matters if she thinks he’s the right guy. And if she does, then I support it. It’s not my place to do anything else.”
The words settle in the room, and he means every one.
“You know, I’ve always admired the two of you,” Namjoon says after a moment. “The way you care for each other is…extraordinary, to say the very least.”
The sincerity in his voice makes Taehyung blush. “Well, we only had each other growing up, you know? She saved my life when we were kids. I truly believe that.”
“I know, you’ve said that before. She gave you a way out.”
“A way out, a purpose, a friend.” He crumples a plastic bag into his hand. “She chose me when no one else did. Not even my own family.”
And you had, when no one else seemed to want anything to do with him, there you were, hanging by his side like his own personal guardian angel.
“She’s the most incredible person I know, and I would just…do anything for her.”
“Including watch her marry him, apparently.”
“Yes,” Taehyung says. Unhesitating. “If that’s what she wants.”
“And where does that leave you?”
Taehyung has nothing to answer that with—his worst fear laid bare in front of him. It’s the thought that keeps him up at night, plagues the very marrow of his bones every time someone mentions that tiny velvet box. Your childhood friendship may have allowed you to grow together as one through the years, but just as trees grow apart as they grow upwards, it feels like only a matter of time before your branches no longer intertwine, drawn apart by jobs and relationships, life and love.
How long until you’ve outgrown him? How long until you’ve started your own family and left him behind?
He has no right to you, and he knows that. The last thing he would ever want to do is hold you back, but perhaps a part of him thought he’d have more time. Now, with you suddenly not talking to him for reasons he can’t even begin to grasp, he feels like he may have already lost you.
Namjoon puts him out of his misery. “Do you know what Plutarch said about friendship?”
“Who?”
“I don’t need a friend who changes when I change and who nods when I nod; my shadow does that much better.”
Taehyung stares, stunned and confused. Because Namjoon couldn’t possibly be suggesting…
“You’re saying I should tell her to say no to him?”
“I’m saying it’s possible to be selfless to a fault.”
It doesn’t sound terribly different in Taehyung’s mind, but he tries to consider Namjoon’s words regardless. Your happiness has always been his utmost priority, but could his unconditional support really be doing more harm than good? He likes to believe that if he felt your well-being were truly at risk, he would speak up.
Then again, with the way his friend is looking at him, he also can’t help but feel like he’s missing something important.
“What are you trying to specialize in again?” he asks, deflecting.
“Psychiatry.”
“Of course.”
Namjoon chuckles. “It’ll all work out in the end.” He winks, moving to rejoin your friends outside. “Life finds a way.”
Tumblr media
You’ve managed to evade Taehyung all day, but that doesn’t mean you haven’t felt his eyes on you.
The early hours had been easy, your supermarket run giving you an (albeit weak) excuse to put some physical distance between the two of you. But it’s becoming increasingly difficult to maintain, especially after your group gathered together to decide what to do tonight.
When you’d entered the living room, Taehyung had already been seated at the end of the couch, a free spot open on his left; with the way that his hand had been resting, it was almost as if he was saving it for you. Instead, you’d chosen an armchair diagonally across from him, squirming more and more the longer he looked at you. Throughout the entire conversation, as the group decided upon going to the beach bar down the street to kick off your first night at the house, you don’t think his eyes left you even once.
You’re being a coward, and you know it.
Now, you sit at the vanity in your room, struggling with your necklace and just about ready to give up on the damn thing so you don’t hold everyone else up. The clasp doesn't want to cooperate, your fingers can't seem to get purchase on the thin metal, and really, who are you trying to look good for anyway?
Right as you prepare to abandon the cause and stuff the offending item back in your bag, someone knocks on the door and you yell for them to come in.
Taehyung saunters into the room, now wearing a black t-shirt and shorts, his hair pushed back in such a way that you can tell he's been running his hands through it. His eyes skim your figure as he softly closes the door behind him, and you feel your pulse double in pace. "Need help?"
"It's okay—I, um—" but before you can stutter out an excuse, he's already taking the thin chain from your hands, and all you can do is try not to focus on how his fingers feel brushing the back of your neck.
"There. Easy peasy." He eyes you up and down again before clearing his throat. "Looks good on you."
"I, uh, thanks." Your voice is practically a whisper, and you busy yourself with your make-up case...which may have been an adequate distraction if not for the fact that you've already done your make-up and so your hands are only left to wander aimlessly. Glancing up, you catch Taehyung gazing at you over your shoulder in the mirror, and the intensity of his stare has you dropping the case back to the table. "What?"
"You're avoiding me." He states it as a fact, eyes unwavering, and you turn to face him.
"I'm not."
"You are." He searches your face as if to find the answer written there in big, bold letters. "Why?"
A tiny spider makes its way across the corner of the ceiling, and you find yourself staring at it as you chew on your bottom lip, not knowing what to say.
"Hey," Taehyung murmurs, pulling your attention back to him. "It's me, yeah? We don't keep secrets."
But still you hesitate. "You won't get mad?"
He reaches out to hook his pinky with yours. "Of course not."
Letting out a shaky breath, you ask, "Are you okay with Jace proposing?" The question hangs between you for a second, the air thickening with apprehension.
His eyebrows press together, confused. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"I don't know, it's just..." You pause to collect your thoughts. "When I told you about the ring at the gallery opening, there was a second where you appeared to be…bothered."
"Ahh, well..." He pushes his hands through his hair, mulling over his next words. "Do you want me to be honest?"
"Please."
"I know we're friendly, but I've just never been his biggest fan, even in college." Taehyung shrugs. "You know I want the best for you, and he seems like a good guy and all, I just—I don't know." Another run of his hand through his hair. "I just get a weird vibe from him sometimes."
You smirk at that. "A weird vibe?"
"Yeah, like," he licks his lips, still fidgeting. "I can't put my finger on anything in particular, just something about him rubs me the wrong way sometimes." You open your mouth to respond and he quickly cuts in, "But I will 100% support you! If he's who you want and he makes you happy and treats you well, then I will cheer you on the whole way. Hell, I'll even walk you down the aisle if you want me to." That draws a small laugh from you, and he smiles. "If you’re happy, then I’m happy for you. That's all I care about."
You take in his beaming figure and are reminded of how thankful you are to have this man in your life. But the voice in the back of your head is still not entirely placated and before you can stop yourself, you're blurting, "And that's really it?"
Taehyung's smile fades, lips slowly turning downward into a frown, and you silently curse yourself. After seventeen years of friendship, the man can practically read your mind and you know it. "What aren't you telling me?"
You sigh. Seems like there's no way getting around it at this point, and so you decide you may as well dive in. Tucking your hair behind your ears, you quietly ask, "You don’t…have feelings for me?”
Taehyung's eyes blow wide, and you're surprised his jaw isn't touching the floor. After several moments of stunned silence, he lets out a strangled, "What?"
"No, I just—" you stutter. "Look, someone said you did, and after you seemed upset about Jace proposing, I thought maybe..."
He's deeply scowling now, the crease back between his eyebrows, and a flare of his nostrils indicates that he's pissed. "Who?" he asks.
"Who what?"
"Who said that?"
"Tae—"
"No, Y/N, if people want to talk about me behind my back and screw with my private life, I have a right to know who."
He stares you down until you purse your lips and break. "Maya."
"Fucking hell," he says under his breath as he rubs at the lines in his forehead, and his lack of a denial has your head spinning.
"So it's true?"
"Y/N—"
"You haven't answered the question—"
"No!" He almost shouts it. "I don't."
"Because if you did have feelings for me, you could tell me. No secrets, right?"
He lets out a huff and stuffs his hands in his pockets, leveling his gaze back at you. "No," he says. Firmly. Definitively. "No, Y/N, I don’t have feelings for you."
You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding. But something in your blood continues to tingle.
"Okay."
And really? You should've known. Should've trusted to get the truth from him and not secondhand from your friends who, though they mean well, have been known to meddle and gossip (and sure, maybe that includes yourself at times).
The heightened tension has dissipated from the room, but the two of you are still left looking awkwardly at each other. After a stretch of time, Taehyung shifts on his feet and asks, "Y/N, are we good?"
There's a hint of fear in his eyes, and it has any residual worry you're feeling melting away. This is still Tae. Your Tae.
"Of course we are." You link your pinky with his. "Always."
Tumblr media
The beach bar is relatively crowded for a Thursday night, the warm summer air and mix of bodies driving your group to disperse around the venue. Some migrate towards the live band, while others choose to mingle (and flirt) with the other patrons.
Noticing the way one guy at the bar has been eyeing you since you got here, Taehyung sticks close to your side, just in case. That is, until Namjoon finds his way back to the two of you looking harried, drawing you in so he can gently rest his hands on your elbows.
“Y/N, can I borrow you?” His light smile and the way he leans in close are clearly meant to project the image of intimacy, but his eyes are desperately screaming for help. “There’s an intoxicated woman who seems determined to motorboat me, and I don’t know where Maya is. I need a fake girlfriend.”
You pretend to swoon. “Joonie, with a chest like that, I’d be honored to be your fake girlfriend.”
Something aches behind Taehyung’s ribs as he watches you walk away on Namjoon’s arm when he just got you talking to him again. Still, a bit of breathing room is probably for the best. His conversation with you has him rattled; he doesn’t think his pulse has fully returned to normal since you suggested he has feelings for you. At the very least, he was able to smooth things out, which has noticeably eased the weight he’s been carrying the past couple of weeks.
But speaking of your conversation, you being summoned away by Namjoon gives him the opportunity to address the other elephant in the room.
He scans the crowd, determinedly ignoring the woman who’s been trying to catch his eye from a few tables over. (She pouts in his peripheral vision, shifting the neckline of her shirt to sit lower on her chest.) Finally spotting his target making her way back from the bathroom, he quickly moves to intercept her before she can join you and Namjoon at the bar.
Maya startles as he tugs lightly on her arm, leading her to a quieter spot towards the edge of the beach before abruptly spinning to face her.
"What the fuck?"
"What?" she quirks an eyebrow as if in askance but her overall countenance says that she knows exactly what this conversation is going to be about.
"You know what."
"Maybe, but I want to hear you say it."
Taehyung takes a deep breath. He loves Maya like a sister, but that sibling relationship means that she often gets under his skin like one, too. "You told Y/N that I'm in love with her?"
Her other eyebrow joins the first one in climbing her forehead. "Are you?"
"No."
Maya scoffs. "I'm going to give you another chance to say that, but try to sound like you actually believe it this time."
"You had no right—"
"So you're not denying it now?"
"I said no."
"Okay, that time was better, but it could still use some work—"
"Maya, fuck!" He scrubs a hand over his face. "Don't do this."
"She needs to know! What did you tell her?"
“That I don’t—“
“I thought you two didn’t lie to each other.”
“I didn’t!”
“You’re full of shit, and you know it.”
He’d swear he can feel his eyelid twitch. Maya always seems to know which buttons to press to get a reaction out of him. "She's getting married, for fuck's sake!"
"No, she has a boyfriend with a ring box in his drawer."
"Same difference."
"It's not."
"It is."
"She hasn't said yes yet, Tae."
He goes quiet at that. It’s painfully reminiscent of his conversation with Namjoon, and yet he’s equally at a loss. What are they honestly expecting him to do here? What could he possibly do that would accomplish anything other than drive you away, and rightfully so?
Maya’s gaze rakes over his face, scrutinizing him with a mixture of frustration and pity. "Tell me it isn't killing you."
Taehyung licks his lips, looking out across the bar until he finds where you’re standing with Namjoon. The latter says something that makes you laugh, and his stomach flips watching the way your eyes twinkle with mirth as you toss your head back, hair spilling over your shoulders.
You’re radiant. Stunning.
"She's happy," he finally croaks, but it comes out like he's physically straining to push out the words. "Leave it the fuck alone."
Tumblr media
“Hey.”
You find Taehyung in the kitchen bright and early the next morning, already rummaging around and littering the counters with bowls and ingredients. The soft morning light drenches him in a golden glow, highlighting his honey skin, the slope of his nose, the long lines of his fingers as he works.
“Hey!” The smile he gives you is light and easy, the awkwardness between you having evaporated as easy as steam after your discussion last night. “Want to help me make breakfast?”
You jump in, immediately falling into rhythm with the way he maneuvers around the kitchen. God, you’ve missed this. It may have only been a few weeks, but cooking with Taehyung is one of your life’s greatest joys, and after missing two of your meal prep nights, it feels like a part of you has come home. There’s no doubt that you’re breathing a little easier today with the air cleared between you.
And honestly, how stupid to let a single comment from Maya drive a wedge between the two of you. You’ve known Taehyung practically your whole life. If he did have feelings for you, you would’ve figured it out by now.
Surely, he would’ve told you.
Lost in your thoughts, you don’t even notice that Taehyung is sneaking up on you until he’s already smeared a streak of waffle batter across your cheek.
“Augh, Tae!”
“What?” He quickly backpedals out of your reach, anticipating retaliation, but grinning widely. “You were clearly somewhere else. Had to bring you back to me somehow.”
Tumblr media
A while later, as Taehyung sets out the platters of waffles, fruit, and eggs, you begin making the rounds to let everyone know that breakfast is ready. Sunny and her friends thank you from where they’re hanging out on the back deck and say that they’ll be in soon. Moving back into the hallway, you greet Hoseok and his brother, Jiho, as they pass you; Hoseok gives you an appreciative high five when you tell them about the food. Namjoon and Jimin have their door wide open, so you only need to poke your head in, Jimin immediately taking off down the hall at the mention of waffles.
When you get to Taehyung and Jungkook’s door, it’s closed, a series of muffled groans coming from inside. Unhesitating, you knock hard, and the groaning stops, followed by a curse and the sound of shuffling before Jungkook is opening the door halfway, blocking your view of the room. Clad in only a pair of gray joggers, a light sheen of sweat coats his bare chest, and you raise an eyebrow at him.
“Can I help you?”
“Tae and I made breakfast. You’re welcome to join.” You nod your chin at the area behind him. “Unless, you know, you have better things to do.”
Jungkook smirks, amused. “Alright, I’ll be out in a minute.”
He moves to close the door, but you manage to stick a foot out to block him.
“Maya, you too!”
There’s a moment of silence as you stand there, Jungkook looking as smug as ever, before a voice sounds from inside the room.
“Okay!”
It's a cloudless, sunny day so your group heads down to the beach after breakfast. Jungkook's beach house sits down the street, away from the center of town and tourist areas, which allows you a relatively private, uncrowded stretch of sand. The air is sticky with humidity, only mitigated by the breeze coming off the water. It's an oddly soothing combination of hot and cool that has you pulling in deep breaths of the salty air. You could stay out here forever.
"This is paradise," Hana says, verbalizing your own thoughts. "I wish I could live here."
You're sitting on your towel in the sand helping Maya sunscreen her back, but you don't miss the cocky grin on Jungkook's face.
"Well, pretty ladies like you are always welcome here."
Maya's shoulders tense up under your hands, and you're tempted to say something snarky in her defense before Sunny beats you there.
"Not my friends, Kook!"
Hana giggles, Jungkook feigns innocence, and you think that's that, stretching out on your towel to sunbathe. But an hour later, Taehyung is plopping down next to you in the sand.
"I need your help."
You slide your sunglasses to the top of your head so you can look at him better. "Sunny trying to set you up with someone again?"
He blushes. "No, Kook wants to have a chicken fight."
You push your glasses back down your face. "No."
Taehyung is quick, reaching over to pull the shades off your eyes entirely.
“Tae!”
“Look,” he murmurs, leaning in close. “Normally I’d blow him off, but he’s pairing up with Hana, and Maya actually seems kind of bothered.”
You peek over his shoulder to where Maya is now chatting with Jimin, throwing furtive glances at Jungkook and Hana flirting by the water’s edge.
“I know they’re not exclusive,” Taehyung continues, “but you have to admit Kook is being a bit of a dick, and I kind of want to show him up.”
You’re still hesitant, lips turning downwards, and so he presses closer, until all you can see are big brown eyes.
“Please? For me?”
The past two weeks creep into your mind, two weeks of intentionally avoiding him—hurting him—due to your own idiocy, and that’s when you cave. You owe him.
“Okay, fine.”
You follow Taehyung down to the shoreline, where Jungkook grins widely at your approach and claps his hands together.
"A challenger!"
You shake your head at his antics and move to tie your hair up and away from your face. "Do we have any stakes?"
Jungkook strikes a dramatic pose: calf-deep in water, hands on hips, six-pack abs already glistening as he pouts his lips in thought.
Then, with a snap of his fingers, he says, "Loser cooks dinner tomorrow."
Well, that's much tamer than you expected. "Just dinner? No, 'loser has to go skinny dipping' or anything like that?"
His mouth forms into a tiny "o", eyes wide with excitement. "Do you...want that?"
"No," you're quick to clarify. "It just doesn't seem like much of a punishment for us."
Jungkook shrugs his shoulders. "I like your food."
"Okay, but what if we win?" Taehyung asks, nodding from your right.
The cocky grin is back. "You won't."
Seagulls circle above like curious spectators to your game as you get into position. Taehyung squats in the surf so you can scale his back, sliding your legs over his tanned shoulders. He wraps his arms and hands tightly around your knees to secure you as he walks deeper into the ocean until the water is up to his waist. Roughly ten feet across from you, Jungkook and Hana have assumed a similar stance, and you're not sure if it's the waves rolling in or if Jungkook is actively bouncing on his heels.
"Jimin, wanna count us off?" he shouts.
From his spot on the beach, you see Jimin cup his hands around his mouth.
"On your mark...get set...GO!"
The men charge at each other through the water until you and Hana collide, grappling at each other's arms. In spite of a tiny build, she's surprisingly strong and sturdy, and you already have to adjust yourself on top of Taehyung, who likewise rearranges his grip on your legs.
"You good?" he grunts from under you, and you assure him you're fine.
You change your tactic, moving to push at her shoulders and send her backwards, but Jungkook shifts his legs to keep the two of them balanced. This gives Hana the chance to bump you with an elbow, and Taehyung likewise has to tighten his hold on you again to keep you steady.
This back-and-forth goes on for a short while, your friends now cheering from the sidelines, until Jungkook pushes forward and Hana collides with you again. This time, Taehyung adjusts to the hit by sliding his hands upwards, his long fingers skating up the soft inner flesh of your thighs and digging in.
A flash of heat rushes straight to your belly.
The sensation forcefully jolts your entire body and sends both you and Taehyung tumbling into the water. You kick around trying to find your footing before he pulls you up, sopping wet and spluttering as Jungkook and Hana celebrate their victory with raised arms and whoops.
“Are you alright? What happened?”
Hell if you know. You’d swear you can still feel the pads of his fingers on your legs, and so you merely blink at him with a shake of your head.
A biological reaction, you tell yourself, as you wade your way back to dry land. Nothing more.
You will your body to get a grip as you settle back down on your towel. You love Jace, you’re taken, and you and Taehyung have just reestablished the platonic nature of your friendship. Letting his touch have that kind of effect on you is nothing short of wildly inappropriate on two counts.
Trying to shake the shame poking at your brain, you angle yourself towards the waves and snap a quick selfie to send off to your boyfriend.
You [2:05pm]: miss you so much, wish you were here <3
It’s not long before your phone chimes with a reply, and you open the message to see a picture of Jace taken at a similar angle. He stands in a sea of businessmen and conference booths, suit crisp and hair neatly combed. The smile he wears is bright, eyes crinkling in the way you love so much and setting of a flurry of butterflies in your belly.
J <3 [2:07pm]: i’d say i wish you were here but i wouldn’t wish this place on my worst enemy let alone my favorite girl lol
J <3 [2:07pm]: i miss you too, beautiful :(
Tumblr media
By the time the sun starts its descent, you’ve all moved to the pool on the expansive back deck, Jungkook immediately hopping behind the outdoor bar to make drinks.
“You know,” you say from your perch atop one of the stools, “I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who can match your enthusiasm for your job.”
He smiles, rattling a cocktail shaker. “It gets me booze and ladies. What more could I ask for?”
Yumi soon joins you at the bar top to ask Jungkook for a margarita, and is quick to strike up a conversation with you. Unsurprisingly for one of Sunny’s friends, she’s incredibly nice, and you learn she works as a hairdresser in the city.
“I’ll have to check out your salon!” you say. “I’ve been meaning to get a trim.”
She claps her hands together eagerly. “If you want to give me your number, I can text you the address!”
As you’re putting your contact information into her phone, she looks at you thoughtfully and adds, “Not to sound like I have an ulterior motive, but Sunny also mentioned that you’re going to be getting married soon, too?”
Heat creeps into your cheeks. “Ah, yeah, nothing official yet. But, you know, it seems like it’s coming.”
“Exciting!” she declares. “Just figured I’d let you know that I do weddings, too, in that case. And I know we’ve just met, but I’d still give you the friends discount. Sunny’s friends are my friends, as far as I’m concerned.”
“That’s so sweet of you. I’ll definitely give you a call to talk about it once we’re actually planning.”
“That sounds gre—“
“Sorry to interrupt.” Taehyung wanders up to where you sit, handing you a plate of steaming beef and cucumber salad. “Hoseok and Jimin got the first round of meats done. I knew you’d want it hot.”
The moan you let out as you take the plate from him is downright scandalous. “Ugh, you’re the best.”
You’re rewarded with a light chuckle and a signature boxy grin. “I know.”
As he heads back to the grill and you dig into your food, Yumi lets out a dreamy sigh. “It’s no wonder he’s planning to put a ring on your finger. I wish someone would look at me like that.”
A piece of food lodges itself in your throat, and you cough hard. Yumi stares at you in alarm until you regain your breath and turn to her with wide eyes. “Tae and I aren’t together.”
She looks back and forth between the two of you like she’s trying to solve a puzzle. “You’re not?”
“No.” You shake your head emphatically. “We grew up together. My boyfriend is at a work event.”
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry!” she exclaims. “I just noticed how close you were at the bar last night and how he’s always—“ She cuts herself off with a shake of her head. “Nevermind. That’s my fault. I shouldn’t have assumed.”
You assure her it’s fine, and she changes the subject, asking how you know the others and what college was like. Your chat carries on for a while longer before you excuse yourself to use the bathroom.
You don’t even make it halfway across the deck, though, before a tattooed arm is snaking across your waist, lifting you off your feet, and carrying you in the direction of the pool.
“Jeon Jungkook, don’t you fucking dare!” you screech, trying to wiggle yourself out of his grip to no avail.
All you hear behind you is a maniacal giggle before you’re tossed through the air and land in the water with a splash.
When you come up to the surface, pushing your wet hair out of your eyes, you find Jungkook cackling by the pool’s edge. You glare at him.
“Asshole!”
“C’mon, Y/N! It’s a tradition!” he laughs. “It’s not a beach house trip without—“ But he doesn’t get to finish that thought before Taehyung shoulders him hard in the back, propelling him into the water next to you.
You only give Jungkook a second to get his bearings before you’re hopping onto his back and trying to play wrestle him back under the water to the laughter of your friends. It’s hopeless really—Jungkook is basically a mountain of hard muscle that barely budges under your touch—but a few minutes of scrambling all over him with determination, and he eventually concedes and humors you by allowing you to dunk him below the surface.
It’s later, once you’ve clambered out of the pool and are toweling off on the deck when you hear him talking to Jiho behind you.
“He got you good. You didn’t even hear him coming, did you?” There’s a shuffle and a “Pow!” like Jiho is reenacting Taehyung’s takedown.
“Ah, it’s alright,” Jungkook laughs, no hint of a grudge in his voice. “I messed with his girl.”
Tumblr media
Your party stretches on into the night until the sky has turned inky black, peppered with stars that shine intensely this far removed from the city. Almost ironically, your group has mellowed out as the alcohol has flowed, settling into smaller groups scattered around the deck. Namjoon sits with Hoseok and Jiho, clearly getting philosophical around the fire pit. Sunny is gathered to the side with her friends as they sloppily braid each other’s hair, the occasional burst of laughter coming from their general vicinity. Jimin lays on his back at the side of the pool, drunkenly tracing constellations with his finger. And Maya and Jungkook are nowhere to be found.
There’s a sense of peace that flows through your veins as you watch your friends smile and talk while you grab yourself a beer from the poolside bar. You’ve always loved coming here. Sure, getting a free stay at a waterfront mansion is nothing you’d ever say no to, but it’s really getting to spend quality time with your friends—away from all of your real world responsibilities—that makes this place feel almost magical.
You look out to the shoreline and spot a figure sitting alone on the beach, staring out at the waves. You’d been thinking about joining Namjoon’s group by the fire, but that plan is immediately pushed out of mind as you grab a second bottle and make your way towards the sea.
You’re not loud in your stroll, the soft sand muting your steps, but Taehyung seems to sense your approach anyway, not startling a bit as you seat yourself next to him and hand him a beer.
“Contemplating the wonders of the universe?” you ask. From this angle, he looks almost like he did in Maya’s photograph of him—the same constellations in his eyes.
Taehyung stretches his legs out with a sigh, leaning back on his palms. “Where do you think we’ll be this time next year?”
You sip at your drink. Honestly, you can’t imagine things being all that different.
“Right back here?” you say. “I don’t think I’ll ever tire of coming here. This is my ultimate happy place.”
Taehyung hums in agreement. “It could be your pre-wedding party we’ll be having next year.”
“You think?”
His brow furrows at your doubt. “I’d expect you’d at least be planning then, no? Or you could already be married by then if you guys want to move fast.”
The thought sends jitters running down your spine. “Who knows?” you challenge. “Maybe you’ll be the one married. Maybe you’ll meet your soulmate tomorrow and elope because you know it’s fate, and there’s no point in waiting.”
Taehyung barks out a laugh. “That sounds somewhat out-of-character, no?”
“Hmm, true. You’re more of a wait five years to move in and another five years to propose kind of guy. Work on your credit score and establish a detailed financial plan before even thinking about merging assets. And don’t even get me started on the background check.”
“Geez, Y/N. Does Jace know you just casually talk dirty to other guys like this?”
You playfully shove at his shoulder, and the pink of his tongue pokes through his teeth as he laughs.
“Oh, wow, look.”
Taehyung points a delicate finger as a tiny flash blazes through the sky, trailing light and stardust in its wake. He turns to you, smiling.
“Make a wish?”
The words come out on a whisper like a secret meant just for the two of you.
As you sit there, gazing out at the shadowy horizon in the distance, you feel perfectly content. What do you wish for when you feel like you already have the world? Work has been going great, and after almost a year of unpacking boxes and rearranging furniture, you feel like you and Jace are finally settled in and cozy at your apartment. You think about Jace—his smile, the soothing feel of his hands on your skin, the little black box in his desk—and contemplate all of the joy you can sense coming your way.
And then you consider the man beside you.
His eyes are closed as he meditates on his own wish, his legs now drawn up so he can rest his forearms on his knees. It flashes you back to when you were kids, lounging away the hours in your room or hanging at your favorite spots around town—the park, the library, the ice cream shop where Mrs. Kang would often take pity and treat the two of you to free cones. When you were young, Taehyung almost always sat like this, knees to his chest as if he was trying to make himself smaller. As if he could make himself invisible to the shadows that followed him every second of each day.
Taehyung’s always been a positive person, steadfastly determined to not let his demons poison his perspective of the world. Though neither of you were fond of explicitly discussing your situations, Taehyung always maintained a bright outlook on the rare occasions when your frustrations would spill over. There’s still the family we can choose, he’d tell you. We’ll find them one day.
Still, though, you could always sense a certain anxiety lingering under the mask of his smile. It showed itself in the way he’d sit with his arms around his knees, in the way his forehead would crease during the moments when you’d catch him lost in thought. This had eased up in college, the change in scenery and your newfound friends loosening his bones and laugh lines. But since graduation, you’ve seen some of that tension return to his shoulders like he’s carrying extra weight, especially in the past year.
You consider the man beside you, and you think, then, that he deserves the world, too.
I wish for Taehyung to have everything he wants. You squeeze your eyes shut, casting the thought out to the universe with everything you have. Every last desire of his heart. He deserves it all.
No one in the world would be more deserving. Of that, you’re sure.
When you open your eyes again, he’s watching you with an unreadable expression on his face.
“What did you wish for?” is all you can think to ask, blinking at him.
“Well if I tell you, then it won’t come true.”
You roll your eyes, shaking your head with a teasing scoff. He smiles.
“Happiness,” he declares. “If I had to put it simply.”
You smile back at him, hoping those stars stay in his eyes. “Yeah, me too.”
He’ll find it. You know he will.
Tumblr media
It's Sunday morning when shit hits the fan.
After Saturday passes with ease, another lazy day by the pool punctuated with you and Taehyung collaborating on a fried chicken dinner as per your bet with Jungkook, you wake up on Sunday to the sound of Iseul's squeals over there being no hot water, a fact which is soon confirmed after the men team up to check the heater. Jungkook calls his family handyman (apparently those come standard when you have more houses than you can count on one hand), but the man is quick to inform him that he's getting ready for his granddaughter's birthday party and won't be able to come out until tomorrow.
"There's no way I'm making it through the day without a hot shower," Maya grumbles.
Jungkook wiggles his eyebrows. "I can show you a hot shower.”
She doesn't even look at him.
You're also not enthused about the prospect of having to either take a cold shower or skip one entirely. So when Maya suggests going home a day early, you're already leaning towards the idea as well.
"It won't be that bad," Taehyung says, lips turning down in a tiny pout when you tell him. "The key is to just go fast."
"I'd rather not have to do it at all." You giggle as his pout deepens. "We're going to stay until the evening. It's only like a twelve hour difference."
"But I thought we were going to do a movie night."
Okay, now you feel bad.
"Temporary reschedule?" you suggest, poking at his bottom lip. "Jace and I are going to dinner on Saturday, but my Friday night is free."
A hand rubs at his chin as he pretends to make a show out of pondering your offer. "Deal."
Later, you're sitting on a chaise lounge on the back deck, soaking up your last few hours of sun with one of Jungkook's signature cocktails in your hand when Maya sighs deeply beside you in a similar show of disappointment.
"It really is a shame though," she laments. "Tonight was supposed to be our big send-off, and now I cleared my schedule tomorrow for nothing."
"We could do a girls night?" you say. "I have this new cab sav I found the other week that we could split."
"Ooh, twist my arm."
Plans made, you pull out your phone. Jace has been texting you on and off from his conference all weekend—just brief check-ins and I miss yous—so you shoot him a quick message now.
You [4:53pm]: the water heater here is busted so i'll be home early tonight. maya is going to come too, might stay over. can't wait to see you <3
Tumblr media
The sky is a misty orange when you pack the car and say goodbye to your friends, Taehyung giving you a particularly tight hug. Things were great between you for the rest of the weekend, but you can feel the tension of your conversation lingering in the way he holds you that extra second.
You check your phone as Maya settles into the passenger seat and buckles her seat belt. There's still been no word from Jace. It's not particularly unusual for him to forget to answer his phone—especially since you expect he's busy wrapping up the conference—but a seed of worry still plants itself in the back of your brain. You hope everything is alright.
The ride is mostly quiet, you and Maya occasionally singing along to a song on the radio as the evening gradually turns to night. But about halfway back home, you feel the need to straighten things out.
“So I talked to Tae.”
She’s quiet for a second, her face shrouded in shadow. “Uh-huh.”
“He said he doesn’t have feelings for me.”
Maya shifts in her seat, angling herself towards you ever so slightly. “And you believe him?”
“Yes. Definitely.”  There’s no doubt in your mind. “He’s never given me a reason not to.”
Silence stretches itself between you, Maya entirely unreadable as she seems to be puzzling something out in her head.
“Okay.”
It comes as a surprise, and you jerk your eyes away from the road to glance over at her. “Okay?”
Maya shrugs. “Okay.”
“That’s it?”
“Do you want there to be more?”
You work your mouth in a stunned gape. Because she’s right; why are you pushing this?
“No. We’re good.”
When you get to your apartment, you swipe you and Maya into the building and head towards the elevators. You’re a little bummed that your time at the beach house had to be cut short, but you take solace in the fact that you get some time back with Jace.
“Do you want to watch a movie?” Maya asks on the ride up.
You grin. “We could play that Twilight drinking game I sent you.”
“Pfft, I know I said I have tomorrow off, but I meant I could handle a mild hangover, not alcohol poisoning.”
You fumble for your key at your apartment door, sliding it into the lock and pushing the door open. The first thing you notice is that the lights are on, so Jace must be home.
“Babe?” you call, as you and Maya dump your bags by the couch.
“Where’s that cab sav?” You nod in the direction of the kitchen, and Maya skips over to investigate.
A moan sounds through the apartment.
You and Maya both freeze, staring at each other. Goosebumps break out over your entire body, a frightening sense of impending doom slamming itself down on your consciousness.
A second moan, and now you notice the lights on under the closed door of your bedroom. There was no sign of forced entry, but the image of a wounded and bleeding Jace pushes itself to the forefront of your mind.
You rush to the bedroom door, fearing the worse.
“Jace?”
You swing it open.
And your entire world collapses.
Tumblr media
Taehyung can’t quite shake the feeling that you’re slipping through his fingers.
Movie night had been his idea, a way to get you in one spot (and mostly to himself, if he’s being honest) after your two weeks of silence. Now knowing the reason behind your push for space, he doesn’t blame you at all. Maya throwing that wrench into your relationship was surely unsettling, and he understands wanting time alone. But he’s missed you; he’s not going to deny that. And he’s desperate to prove that things can be okay between you. Things can be normal.
But the universe, it seems, is stacked against him.
He’s ambling through the house, wondering if Jimin might be up for a game of ping pong in the downstairs game room, when his phone blares in his pocket. It’s a jarring sound, violent in the way it disrupts the calmness of the house, and Taehyung frowns when he sees Maya’s name on the screen.
Maya never calls.
“Hello?”
“Tae, oh thank God.” Her voice is high and tight—clearly in distress. “You need to come to Y/N’s apartment as soon as physically possible. Grab Jimin and Kook if you need to drive them back—whatever. But just—as soon as possible.”
“Wait, wait, slow down,” he urges, hairs standing at attention on the back of his neck. “What’s going on? Is everyone okay? Is Y/N okay?”
“We got back to the apartment, and Jace he…”
Time seems to slow in anticipation of Maya’s next words—the kind of eerie stillness that precedes a storm, quiet and disarming in its disguise.
And then she drops the bomb.
“He was with someone else.”
Taehyung’s ears ring. There is no possible way he heard that right. “What?”
The breath that comes from the other side of the phone is heavy, like Maya can’t even believe the words coming out of her own mouth. “He was in bed with someone else.”
A chill drips down his spine, pushing its way through his veins until his entire body runs cold. This can’t be happening. Not to you. You’ve had enough pain and hardship in your twenty-five years of life—he’s seen it, weathered it with you. Things are supposed to be getting better; this is supposed to be the payout for years of heartache. Surely, the universe wouldn’t be so cruel.
But then it happens. A single, anguished sob rings out in the background of the call, sharp and pained in its grief.
His heart shatters, shards piercing the spaces between his ribs.
“Tae? Are you still there?”
“Yes.”
“She needs you. Please just get over here.”
Then line goes dead.
Taehyung is only frozen for a second longer before he’s bounding into motion, tearing down the hallway and into the living room where Jimin lays on his back on the couch. The latter shoots into a sitting position when he sees the look on Taehyung’s face.
“You okay?”
“Y/N—she—we—“ His mouth feels like it’s filled with sand, and while he stands there, working his jaw in agonizing frustration, Jimin leaps to his feet to close the distance between them, grasping Taehyung’s shoulders.
“What’s wrong? What happened to Y/N?”
His lungs burn as he finally finds the words. “Jace is cheating on her.”
Jimin goes still, the same stunned shock registering in his body.
“We need to—we need to go,” Taehyung gasps, and Jimin is quick to sit him on the couch.
“I’ll get Kook. We’ll take care of this,” he says, voice steady. Commanding. “You just wait here and breathe.”
The next several minutes are a blur as Jimin rushes to get Jungkook, and they work on packing the car, briefly explaining the situation to the others. Taehyung can’t think of anything but you, his focus reduced down to a pinpoint in his mind. You must be devastated. In spite of what he had said about his own feelings on Jace, he knows how much you love him, how you were expecting to spend the rest of your life with him. How must you be feeling to have an entire future ripped away? To have to bear witness to and suffer that kind of betrayal?
He’s not quite sure how it happens, but he winds up in the passenger seat of his own car, Jimin sliding behind the wheel and peeling away from the house and onto the highway. The air inside the cabin is thick, a stifling combination of premature summer heat and heavy silence, with even Jungkook sitting oddly quiet in the backseat. Taehyung is thankful for the absence of conversation; he doesn’t think he can handle talking about any of this until you’re in front of him and he can hold you, feel that you’re safe.
He realizes somewhere along the way that he’s shaking, your cry still ringing in his ears.
The trip from the beach house to the city only takes about forty-five minutes, but it feels like days, headlights and street lamps zipping by like tiny suns as Taehyung wills the car to go faster, faster, faster. He’s never felt further from you before, never been so determined to close the distance between you like he is now.
Whatever you need from him, he’ll give it.
Jimin finally pulls into your apartment parking lot, and the car hasn't even fully stopped before Taehyung is bolting out at a near sprint. Jungkook and Jimin catch up to him as he pulls out the duplicate access card you had given him in case of emergencies, swiping them into the entryway and down the hall where he pounds the button for the elevators.
"It'll be okay," Jimin says, staring Taehyung down where he seems to be vibrating in his shoes. "She'll be okay."
"She'd better be," Jungkook mutters, fists clenched tight.
(Jimin hopes Jace has long cleared out of the building, lest they run into him.)
The elevator ride is tense and slow, the numbers ticking upwards in time with the pounding in Taehyung's ears.
2...
The bastard was sleeping with someone else.
3...
You thought you were going to marry him.
4...
He'd spent time with Jace all through college. Even laughed with him at times.
5...
The sound you'd made on the phone, like you were physically wounded.
6...
If he ever sees that piece of shit again—
7.
The doors open with a ding that snaps the mess of Taehyung's thoughts into focus.
He's here. You need him.
It's a brisk walk to the end of the hallway, and then he's practically punching your apartment door, which swings open almost immediately as if Maya was waiting on the other side. She and Taehyung stare at each other for a brief moment, her mouth stretched into a tight line before she simply nods her head in the direction of the bathroom. Taehyung makes the final leg of the trip in five long strides before freezing in the doorway.
The fractured shards of his heart turn to dust.
You're curled up on the bathroom floor, a tangle of arms and hair covering your face as your body trembles with quiet sobs. They echo around the tile, filling the space between you until Taehyung thinks he can feel the sound burrowing itself under his skin, a morbid tattoo he doesn’t know if he’ll ever be able to erase. This image, he thinks, will surely haunt him for the rest of his life.
You. Completely and utterly broken.
He falls to his knees so he can brush your hair aside, the strands draping themselves over his fingers like a tether. Your face is red and stained with tears, and he reflexively wipes at the ones he sees rolling down your cheeks as you peer up at him, only now registering his presence.
"T-tae?"
"I'm here," he murmurs as his hands continue collect your tears, trying to carry them for you.
When you hear his voice, your cries start up again in earnest, and you reach out to clutch at his shirt. Taehyung immediately gathers you into his arms and tucks you into the haven of his chest, holding you like if he squeezes hard enough, he can press your broken pieces back together.
"T-tae...h-he..." you gasp at his collarbone, words failing you as Taehyung hugs you to him even tighter.
He runs his hands through your hair, presses kisses to the crown of your head, trails his fingers up the length of your back as you burrow into him, wails escalating.
"Shh, I've got you, baby."
He does. He'll hold you forever if he has to.
"I've got you."

This is where I want to be
His hands curled around you, usually he didn’t like physical affection in public but in this moment he wrapped his body around you as much as humanly possible.
“Are you alright?”
The words were said so softly he almost didn’t respond, maybe his response was foolish. An omnic just wanting to be close to his human lover.
“Allow me to be this close for a moment.”
Ramattra hummed when he felt your arms lay on top of his own. The person you were speaking to didn’t even seem to notice that you and your boyfriend were this close to each other.
“Would you like to leave?”
“No, I just wish to be close to you for a while.”
He wasn’t even eavesdropping on your conversation he simply focused on the warmth from your body against his own. The way your voice continued to speak without trembling, the way your hands never made an effort to leave his.
“Actually me and Ramattra have plans.”
The omnic’s head slightly turned away from your neck for a moment, did you two have plans that he didn’t remember? Were you planning something without telling him?
“We simply want to spend the evening together.”
You wished to spend your evenings with him? Though your friends wanted you to go out you chose him? His arms tightened, maybe it would have hurt, how hard he was holding onto you if you didn’t know how big of a step this was for him.
“Maybe we’ll lay in bed all day or cook together.”
The ideas poured from your lips, each one gauging a reaction from your lover. He seemed to be shy from the amount of love you were showing, his face plate hidden against you while he held onto you as if you’d disappear.
“I think i’ll let him choose what we do.”
You were giving him the choice… He wanted to do so many things with you, how would he choose just a few for one evening?
“What would you like to do?”
His metallic fingers were laced together, he was nervous. Why was he nervous? he didn’t know, this was a big thing. What if you didn’t want to do what he chose?
“I…”
“Ramattra, I want to do what you want.”
The small reassurance made him feel like he was overheating.
“I would like to..”
Your hands came up to hold his, calming the fidgeting. He had never been expressive about these sorts of things, he had never been in love with someone before.
“I would like you to… Hold me.”
Your boyfriend’s words caught you by slight surprise but it quickly turned into a huge smile.
“I thought you’d never ask.”
Ramattra watched you lay down in your bed, then urging him to lay practically on top of you. It was a tight fit but it felt like home. Your omnic in your arms as you talked about how proud you were of him for speaking his mind.
“I’m proud of you.”
“I… What have I done for you to be proud of?”
“You were honest, yes it took you a moment but you told me what you wanted. That is a big step that I am incredibly proud of.”
His face plate was pressed further against you as if he was hiding in embarrassment.

Here is my contribution for Day 4 of Wille’s month. The prompt is ‘Revolution.’
@youngroyals-events
definitely not my best but I promised myself I would post for every prompt
It had been weeks since Wilhelm made the Instagram post about his relationship with Simon and as expected, all hell broke loose. The Royal Court tried, and failed, to contain the situation. Releasing statements stating that Wilhelm was hacked, that none of it was true but it was too late, Wilhelm was done being controlled. Every time they released a statement, he went live on whatever platform he could to call out their lies. As much as all the publicity scared him, Simon loved this new side of Wilhelm. Watching the boy he fell head over heels for, the Crown Prince of fucking Sweden, defend their love was… incredible. While things had calmed down, their appearance together at a charity event caused more issues to arise.
Wilhelm was on the phone for the dozenth time, speaking with Farima. “And I told you, I don’t care,” he said, pacing back and forth. “This isn’t me taking a political stance, this is me just… being in a relationship with Simon.” He rolled his eyes, “I don’t know how else to tell you that I really don’t care, Farima. They can think whatever they want, they’re going to anyway. The only thing I care about is making sure that Simon, Linda, and Sara are kept safe, and you’re all too worried about making statements to do that. Too worried about how things look.” He stopped pacing as he listened, “Are you kidding me?! They threw a fucking rock through their window! If that happened to me, you would see it as a threat to the fucking country.” Wilhelm pressed his fingers into his eyes, taking a breath. “This is the last thing I’m going to say about this, a threat against Simon and his family, is a threat against me. It is your job to handle that threat and if you can’t do that, then find someone who can. And tell mother we’ll both be there, Farima. Whatever they have to say they can say it to both of us.” He slammed the phone shut, inhaling sharply.
Simon sat there quietly, listening, and watching his boyfriend as he stressed over this situation. He was scared but having Wilhelm standing up for him and his family brought him comfort. He slowly stood and made his way to Wilhelm, wrapping his arms around him and resting his cheek on his back. “It’ll be okay...” Simon said softly.
As Simon’s arms wrapped around him, Wilhelm felt his frustration begin to drop. This, he thought to himself, as he turned to wrap Simon in his arms, is what they were fighting for. “I’m sorry you have to deal with all this bullshit.” He said into Simon’s curls, inhaling his familiar scent.
Simon shook his head, pulling back slightly to look up and into Wilhelm’s eyes, “This is not your fault,” he said. “Those homophobes are the ones who did this, not you.”
Wilhelm placed a soft kiss on Simon’s forehead, “I’m being summoned to the palace…” he said softly, pulling back and looking into Simon’s eyes. “I told Farima you’d be coming with me, but you don’t have to. I just want to show them that we’re a united front, you know?” he saw Simon’s expression become worried, “No worries,” he said softly, “I’ll make sure George stays here with your mom but if we’re going then we need to go like, now.”
Simon sighed and nodded, linking their fingers, and allowing Wilhelm to guide him outside and into the car. The drive was quiet, a little too quiet but their hands remained clasped together, a united front. They arrived at the place and were guided to the sitting room to await the queen and her consort. Simon quietly watched Wilhelm as he nervously bit the inside of his cheeks.
Wilhelm sat anxiously in the room, impatiently waiting for his parents. After what felt like years, the large oak doors opened and Kristina strode in, staring coldly at her son. Ludvig followed behind, his face unreadable.
"We have asked you here today to discuss this...relationship of yours," Kristina began, not sparing Simon a glance. "It is unacceptable for a member of the royal family, especially the crown prince, to be seen entertaining some commoner. You are damaging the reputation of the monarchy with your constant bad choices, Wilhelm."
Wilhelm took several deep breaths to ease his nerves. “First, do not refer to Simon that way.” He said, forcing his anger back, and keeping his voice level. “Secondly, I’m not entertaining Simon, mother. I'm in love with him and I want to spend the rest of my life with him. Do you really think I’d be fighting this hard for a meaningless fling? Lastly, how exactly does love damage the monarchy?” He stood now, taking a few steps towards his mother. “If Erik’s drunk driving didn’t damage the monarchy, I doubt my love for Simon will.”
"Enough of this nonsense," Kristina snapped. "You will end things with this...boy at once. You know it isn’t right and I am sick of indulging your little whims. And bringing up Erik was low, even for you Wilhelm. It is time you took your responsibilities seriously and stopped being selfish."
“I will not.” Wilhelm simply stated, jutting his chin forward. “I will not hide or be ashamed of who I am any longer," he took another step forward, “I am the future king, right? So, it is my duty to lead with integrity and honesty. What I feel for Simon isn’t wrong, Mother, and I will not sacrifice my happiness for the sake of appearances."
Ludvig, who had been silent throughout the exchange, finally spoke up. His voice was calm but firm. "Kristina,” he began, looking at his wife, “Wilhelm is right. Love should not be suppressed; it should be encouraged. Our son deserves to find happiness and build a life with someone he truly loves. It seems he’s found that person. We should be happy for him, shouldn’t we?"
Kristina's eyes narrowed as she turned to Ludvig. "Oh, so you’re siding with him, Ludvig? Are you willing to let our family be disgraced?"
“Disgraced?!” Wilhelm echoed, “What exactly have we done that is disgraceful? Love each other? Stand up for one another?”
Ludvig took a step forward and placed his hand on his wife’s shoulder, "The world is changing, and so must our attitudes, Kristina. We cannot continue to hold onto outdated traditions that deny people the chance to love freely. This isn’t the way and insulting Simon is also not the way to approach this. Maybe this could be seen as an opportunity to modernize what we stand for. Turn it into a good thing.”
Wilhelm smiled softly at this father as he stood up for him and Simon. The room fell into silence, tension as thick as smog hung in the air. Wilhelm and Simon locked eyes as they waited for Queen Kristina to say something, anything.
“I may not agree with your choice, Wilhelm," she said, forcing her voice to be softer now. "But…” she inhaled, “you are my son, and I do love you.” She sighed, stepping forward and taking his hands in hers. She was outnumbered here, and she knew how to be diplomatic when it was needed. “I cannot deny you the chance to be happy, even if it means challenging traditions. Just promise me that you will consider the consequences of your actions and be prepared to face them. Both of you.” she briefly glanced at the young curly haired boy his son fell in love with.
Wilhelm's eyes remained hard, he knew the game she was playing, but he nodded softly. "Thank you, Mother. I promise you, I, we, will handle this with care and responsibility.” He squeezed her hands, to emphasize his next words, “Simon means everything to me, and I will do whatever it takes to protect him and our love. Trust me on that." It couldn’t be considered much of a threat, but he saw in her eyes that she understood exactly what he meant.
Kristina's expression remained neutral, but a hint of understanding flickered in her eyes. She reached up and placed a hand on Wilhelm's cheek. "You have always been headstrong, my son. Let’s hope that it isn’t your downfall.” She dropped her hands and turned to step towards her husband, “We will need to release a statement about your relationship, making it official. This should, hopefully, calm things now, at least on the media front. There’s been too much speculation about the seriousness of your partnership, and we should lay those questions to rest once and for all since you’re serious about this.”
Wilhelm nodded, reaching out for Simon’s hand as the queen retreated back to her office. Once they were alone, they both released twin breaths of relief.
“Holy… shit,” Simon whispered, looking up at Wilhelm’s face. “That was intense.” Wilhelm smiled, pulling Simon to his feet and into his arms, “It always is but, I think it went well.” He pulled back and locked eyes with Simon, searching his face, “What do you think about the statement? You okay with officially dating the Crown Prince?”
Simon laughed, “What have we been doing this whole time?” he asked sarcastically as he wrapped his arms around Wilhelm’s neck, “I think it’s a great idea. Shows that the Royal Court is on our side, and it also means people will stop thinking this is some momentary lapse of judgment on your part. What about you? You okay officially dating a commoner?”
“Oh, darling, you’ve never been that. Not to me.” Wilhelm said softly, “From the moment you walked into that chapel, you became everything to me.” He embraced Simon tightly, nuzzling into his neck.
And so, the statement was released, with a few carefully selected photos of the pair. In the weeks that followed, Wilhelm and Simon's relationship faced intense scrutiny from both the public and the media. Their every move was dissected and analyzed, with opinions on their love affair ranging from support to condemnation. The conservatives clung to their traditional values, criticizing Wilhelm for disregarding his duty and tarnishing the reputation of the monarchy. On the other hand, there were those who hailed Wilhelm as a symbol of progress and applauded his courage to love openly.
To everyone’s surprise, Wilhelm and Simon remained committed to each other, finding comfort in their love during the storms that surrounded them. The royal family found themselves at the center of a delicate balancing act. While Kristina and Ludvig privately wrestled with their own reservations and concerns, they recognized the importance of preserving family unity and projecting a unified front to the public. They stood by Wilhelm's side during public appearances, attending events and engagements where Wilhelm and Simon were present, but with some initial discomfort.
The tipping point came during a family dinner, when Wilhelm, Simon, Kristina, and Ludvig had the opportunity to have a heartfelt conversation. Tears were shed, emotions were exposed, and deeply held fears and concerns were openly expressed for the first time. It was a liberating moment in which each family member could understand and empathize with each other's points of view. Wilhelm's parents chose to accept Simon as their son's partner from that day forward, recognizing the true nature of their love. They publicly expressed their support by issuing a joint statement emphasizing the value of love, understanding, and unity within the monarchy. It was a significant step forward for both Wilhelm and Simon, as well as the country they represented.
Unknown to him, or to anyone, Wilhelm's decision to follow his heart and fight for his love had a lasting impact for both the monarchy and the rest of Sweden. It marked a crucial moment in the royal family's history, as they evolved from a symbol of tradition to a force for change.

    · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
The week passed in the blink of an eye, with great news at work that you were given a payrise and a shining personal review.
It was tradition that you and Laura had a Friday night cocktail to unwind after the week. She was brighter and happier this week, and Tommy was treating her beautifully, just like she deserved. You had told her your apartment had sold. You had a cash buyer, meaning you completed within the week and now had a lump sum in your account.
‘Drinks are on you then?’ Laura laughed, ‘first a pay rise and now enough to buy a few birkins with change’
‘Girl don’t even start, I’ll be poor by next week if you tempt me. No birkins just yet, one day though I promise.’ you tapped your cocktail glasses together and offered to drop Laura home. She said Tommy was picking her up for date night.
‘Cute, you guys make me sick’ you cuddled Laura good bye and said she can pop by tomorrow at yours to help you sort your apartment out ready to move in with Joel.
   · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
You picked up your usual wine and pizza, some groceries for the weekend and a bunch of peonies to bring home.
Tommy walked out the front door, covered in sawdust and sweating.
‘Don’t ask’ he said.
‘Laura’s waiting for you’ he looked like he had seen a ghost and sprinted like road runner to his van.
The hall was littered with tools, timber and Ikea boxes.
‘I’m home baby’ you called. Nova came running through the hall, her collar jingling through. You picked her up and held her as you both searched for Joel.
‘Damn cat has been climbing my sunflowers’ Joel sipped his beer and pointed a finger accusingly at Nova.
You fake gasped and covered her ears. ‘Watch your tone around the baby. What’s going on in the hallway?’
Joel rolled his eyes and carried on keeping busy round the garden. ‘Couldn’t keep building material’s at the client’s house’
‘Where’s Sarah?’ You shouted, as he turned his back and carried on walking.
‘At a friend’s, sleeping over. Birthday party tomorrow.’
You hummed and went back inside with Nova.
Dinner was cooking and you caught up on your shows, with the kitten snuggled up on your lap.
Joel came in and sat in the armchair opposite you.
‘There’s room for a little one.’
‘I’m hot. Been working all damn day and just had to tidy the garden’ Joel huffed.
‘Well you didn’t have to tidy the garden, it could’ve waited for tomorrow’ you tried to reason with Joel and his woe is me situation.
He didn’t respond.
‘The money came in from the buyer’s today. I was thinking we’ll get some bits done and could book a little holiday, us 3. Tommy and Laura too?’ You picked up Nova, still catching z’s, and went and sat on Joel’s lap.
‘I’d love that baby. I’m exhausted, we need a break’ Joel rested his head on your shoulder.
‘I know baby. Thank you for everything you’ve done’ you cuddled him close.
   · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
It was bed time, and you were both showered and snuggled up watching Desperate Housewives.
‘Laura is meeting me back at the apartment for 11am tomorrow. Got a shit ton of stuff to do’ Nova was nestled between you& Joel.
‘Sounds good baby. Me& Tommy have some bits to do, but we’ll bring some drink and get stuff done’ Joel looked at you over the rim of the glasses that sat on his nose.
‘I look forward to it.’ You removed his glasses and got up to put Nova in her cat bed. She now has one in every room. You pulled the duvet off Joel. ‘Now get naked, Mr Miller’
    · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
It wasn’t clear why Tommy and Joel were like this, but you were woken up at 6:30am by the sound of power tools and country music.
‘What the fuck is going on?’ Nova was sat at the foot of the bed, with a head tilt and a baby meow.
You called Joel on the phone, knowing you wouldn’t be heard if you shouted.
‘Sorry baby, we’re just organising the loft. Won’t be long. Coffee would be nice’ Joel sounded as if he had just run a marathon.
‘Sure coffee would be nice, god damn asshole’ you muttered to yourself ‘ so would being able to sleep in til 8.’
You went downstairs and made breakfast for the boys and left some coffee on the landing for them.
You were still in a sleepy daze, you failed to notice the hallway had been emptied of building materials.
Tommy bounded downstairs and swung round the banister launching himself into the kitchen. Joel followed quickly behind, slurping his coffee. They were both happy and chirpy, until they saw you sat in the garden in the patio chair listening to Lana Del Rey with eyes shut.
‘Shit, that’s her man-hating music’ Joel whispered.
‘Boy I’m out of here then. I’ve already pissed one chick off by waking her up to leave early this morning, I’m not facing the wrath of your one too’ Tommy ate his bacon sandwich and got ready to leave.
‘Thank you brother. I appreciate you’ Joel hugged his brother and smacked him on the back.
‘She’ll love it. See you lunchtime at the old house. Bring your marigolds’ Tommy left and Joel approached you in the garden.
‘Baby?’ Joel was terrified. If he knew one thing, it was do not wake a sleeping girlfriend.
‘How can I help?’ You sighed.
‘I love you’ Joel knew laying it on thick would melt you.
‘Asshole’ you sat on his lap, and Joel stroked your thigh under your robe and played with the hem of your night dress.
‘Gym?’
‘Let’s go, Mr Miller.’
   · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
Your workout was finished, and you and Joel showered and headed back to yours. Laura and Tommy were parked up waiting for you.
‘Can you guys go pick up some trash bags and moving boxes?’ The boys nodded as though ready for a military operation.
‘Let’s get started.’
   · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
It was now 4pm, and all your stuff had either been packed up, taking to charity, or put on eBay.
‘Dinner?’ you were all exhausted, and food was a welcomed idea from Tommy.
You headed down to the local grill and had dinner and drinks before getting home.
The movers were coming tomorrow, so Tommy agreed to have Sarah overnight so you and Joel could sort things out tomorrow.
    · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
When you got home, you got a glass of wine for you& Joel and ran him a bath. He was now converted since joining you that night.
You were sat on the sofa half watching a film and half internet shopping.
‘Don’t spend it all at once’ Joel crept up behind you and held your shoulders to make you jump.
‘Bastard,you’re not getting anything now’
‘Can I show you something?’ Joel grabbed your hand and lead you to the stairs up to the third floor. This was Joel’s loft, but he said it was just storage and not worth seeing.
He uncovered your eyes and revealed the renovation him and Tommy had been working on.
A bespoke closet, work from home space and dressing room ready for you to move you stuff into.
You couldn’t believe your eyes.
‘Well I feel incredibly guilty for moaning at you both this morning’ you laughed through a sniffle and Joel wiped your tears of joy, ‘Thank you, baby.’
‘I’m so grateful to have you here. I love you more than life, and you deserve it’ Joel squeezed you tight.
‘I can’t wait for the rest of my life with you.’
    · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
The next morning, you had to head back to the apartment and let the movers in. Thankfully, you didn’t have to bring any furniture except the sofa, as Joel had decided they were prettier and comfier than his, and you just had a few boxes of bits and pieces, plus your all of your clothes.
‘I’m on my way back baby, movers finished all smoothly’ you called Joel through your car speaker.
‘Okay darling, just picking Sarah up and then will see you at home.’
Sarah and Joel pulled up home at the same time as you& the mover’s. Sarah couldn’t believe the surprise of a kitten and her new bestfriend moving in within the same week.
‘This will take about an hour, do you want to help me decorate the loft?’ Sarah saw the opportunity to raid your wardrobe and ran with it.
Joel went and got you both a drink and some snacks whilst he sat and watched you both put the last of your clothes in the wardrobe, and put your candles around the room.
‘Well doesn’t this look beautiful? Who’d have thought we’d make yourself so girly?’ you high fived Sarah and cuddle Joel.
‘Thank you for doing this for me. I love you both so much. I feel blessed to live my life with the Millers’ Nova ran up the stairs and joined the family meeting.
‘All that’s left to do is give you a new surname, can’t have the cat as a Miller and not you officially’ Joel winked.
Now you had an an engagement to think about, as if you couldn’t be any more spoiled.

spidey kisses | tom holland
Tumblr media
pairing: tom holland x youtuber!reader
summary: tom gets a little jealous when he finds out, through your old high school journals, that another spider-man had your teenage heart
warnings: a tiny bit of cursing i think
words: 1.7k
a/n: i wrote this??? after almost a year without writing anything??? what??? this is so random, i know but i had this idea a long time ago so when inspiration finally came i decided to just do it lol this is another part of my youtuber!reader series but it can also be read on its own. i really hope you guys like it, pls let me know what you think, your feedback is always appreciated 🫶
You positioned your camera on top of one of the dozens of boxes filling your soon-to-be, old living room. The box labeled KITCHEN was the chosen one to work as a tripod, and as you adjusted the lenses of your camera, you prayed it’d be stable enough for you to film your video. “You ready?” Tom asks as he exits the kitchen, rubbing his hands together. “Almost. Sit down so I can make sure it’s centered.” You tell him, watching in the visor of your camera as he takes a seat on your sofa.
Once everything is ready, you press the play button and start recording, before taking a seat next to your boyfriend. “Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel! I have a special guest with me on today’s video, which isn’t that special anymore since he likes… shows up in every other one of my videos now. No offense." As you turn your head to look at your boyfriend, you catch his dumbfounded expression. “Some taken.” He feigns being upset about your words before introducing himself to the camera.
With a shake of your head, you continue. “If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know this but… we are moving.” You and Tom say in unison. “Actually, I am the one moving.” You correct yourself. “Yeah, we were basically already living together so it just didn’t make sense having two separate places,” Tom explains to the camera. “So now I’m moving out of my apartment into this one’s place.” You bump your shoulder against your boyfriend and he smiles at you.
“Anyways, my living room is now full of boxes, so much so that my camera is currently sitting on top of at least three of them.” You laugh. “The thing is, when you move, you end up finding stuff you didn’t even know you had, and that’s exactly what today’s video is about.” You tell the camera, getting a box from behind your couch. “As I was looking through my old stuff, I found these.” You laugh at Tom’s clueless face. “These are my high-school journals.” You say, watching as he starts eagerly rummaging through them. “Holy shit! I can’t believe you still have it.” Tom exclaims, already picking one. “Right? So yeah, I thought it’d be fun to go through them and see what my teenage self was like. Oh, and embarrass myself, of course.” You laugh, watching as Tom flips through the pages.
Once your boyfriend finds something, he turns one of the pages to you. “Look at this!” He says excitedly, showing you a page full of collages of One Direction pictures. “Oh my God, I was a real One Direction fan when I was younger.” You say, already feeling your cheeks burning. “Can I show them?” Tom asks. “Go ahead!” You nod, laughing at his excited expression. “You’re really having fun with this, huh?” You laugh, going back to the pages. “You have no idea!” Tom says with a huge smirk on his face.
After flipping through more pages, you found an entry that makes you laugh. “August 9: “Today was a good day. Brendan asked what brand my sneakers were. I told him: “Adidas”, and he said: “Nice!” before walking off.” God, I can’t believe I’m putting this out there on the internet. You remember Brendan?” You asked, feeling your cheeks grow warm. “Not really. Was he your crush?” Tom said, a smirk still plastered on his lips. “Yep! I think we’ll see him pop up a lot of times here.” You said, rolling your eyes at your boyfriend’s smug look.
As you continued to look through the journals, you kept finding more and more entries about Brendan, just like you thought. “August 15: “Today Brendan gave me a hug. He said I smelled good and when I said he did too, he laughed. I like his laugh. I think I’m in love with him.” Oh, you’re not honey!” You laughed, feeling embarrassed. “Oh, that escalated quickly!” Tom let it out while searching your other journal. “That’s not fair! All you have here is One Direction collages.” Your boyfriend groaned. “Yeah, I think that one was like my scrapbook. This one has the good stuff.” You laughed.
With a little more rummaging, Tom showed you a page covered with The Hunger Games pictures. “Ah yes, my old The Hunger Games days.” You chuckled, rolling your eyes at your boyfriend, who seemed pretty entertained with a page dedicated to Peeta. “I definitely remember him being your favorite,” Tom asked. “Yeah, he still is and to this day I still love this franchise.” You proudly exclaimed, watching your boyfriend nod. “Yeah, they’re pretty good.” Tom let it out.
Bringing your attention back to the journal in your hands, you found an entry that made you laugh. “Oh, this is a big one! September 22: “Brendan and I shared our first kiss today. It was perfect, I just wish we had more time before Ashley saw us.” You read, looking at your boyfriend to gauge his reaction. “Was that your first kiss?” Tom asked. “No, my first kiss was with a guy named Lucas, behind one of the school’s gates. The headmaster caught us and we got suspended.” That made your boyfriend laugh, to the point he was clutching his stomach.
“I honestly don’t remember any of this,” Tom mumbled. “Yeah, you were kinda busy becoming an international movie star.” You smiled, earning a roll of eyes from him. “Who was this Ashley girl?” Your boyfriend asked, giving you his full attention. “I think she liked Brendan at the time, I don’t actually remember.” You said, trying to work through your memories. “What I do know is that Brendan and I didn’t last long after that.” You shrugged. “Bye Brendan.” Tom gave the camera an adorable little wave, making you chuckle.
After a couple of minutes, you turned to your boyfriend, who seemed pretty into this whole thing. “Did you find anything good?” You asked. “Nah, just more collages of One Direction.” He shrugged, turning a few more pages before stopping on one of them. “Oh, my God!” Your boyfriend gasped, turning the journal away so you couldn’t see what he had found. “What?” You asked, watching as his eyes grew wide. “What is it? Is it bad? Tell me!” You practically pleaded, wanting nothing more than to reach for the journal and snatch it out of your boyfriend’s hands. “I cannot believe you did this!” Tom shook his head, seemingly disappointed with you. “What did I do? Stop gatekeeping it from me.” You begged, finally getting Tom to show you what he was hiding.
Two whole pages of the journal were covered with pictures of Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. In the center of it, a heart with another picture of Andrew and the words: “Favorite Spider-Man Ever” scribbled in your handwriting. “Oh shit!” Was all you could say, as you tried your best to keep yourself from laughing. Tom kept looking at you as you fought back your smile. “I’m sorry, baby!” You tried hugging your boyfriend but he pushed you away. “You really hurt my feelings with this one.” Tom choked, using all his actor qualities to fake a few tears.
Reaching for the journal, you found more pages filled with Andrew Garfield and Spider-Man pics. “God, I remember being obsessed with the Spectacular Spider-Man movies.” You added, flipping through more pages. “This is humiliating!” Tom mumbled, shaking his head in disappointment. “Shut up! You were a big fan too.” You exclaimed, biting back a smile. “Not to the point of writing about him in my journal.” Your boyfriend whined, making you chuckle. “In my defense, I didn’t know you were going to play Spider-Man one day when I wrote this.” You gave Tom your best puppy eyes. “I think we should talk about this whole moving situation,” Tom mumbled, and you could see he was holding back a smile. “Oh, shut up!” You laughed, flipping him off.
From the corner of your eye, you saw Tom take his phone out and snap a picture of some of the pages. “What are you doing?” You asked, furrowing your eyebrows. “I have to send these to Andrew.” Your boyfriend replied, a huge smirk dancing on his lips. “No fucking way!” You exclaimed, taking his phone out of his hands. “What? Why not?” Tom asked, biting back a smile. “Are you kidding? I will not be able to look at his face anymore.” You said.
Closing both of the journals, you stuffed them back into the box they came from. “Oh, c’mon!” Your boyfriend tried again but you were not having it. “Don’t even waste your time. You’re not convincing me.” You told him. “I’ll just send him this video.” Tom shrugged, laughing at your murderous expression. “Don’t you dare, Thomas! I’ll cut your balls off!” You said, giving him a warning look.
After checking for how long you’ve been filming, you decided it was time to end the video. “Well, I think that’s enough for today. Maybe we can come back another time to look through my other journals. As always, make sure to give this video a big thumbs up if you liked it, and don’t forget to subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already. Anything to say?” You turned to your boyfriend. “Thank you for having me once again. It was really fun!” Tom smiled, putting one of his arms behind your back. “Thank you for watching, I love you guys and I’ll see you in my next video. Bye!” After a little wave, you got to your feet and turned the camera off.
As you turned back to your boyfriend, you caught him already looking at you. “You were not actually jealous, right?” You asked, wanting to make sure you two were good. “Nah, I was just playing along,” Tom said, watching as you approached him and collapsed on his lap. “Good, because Andrew could have my heart back then but you one hundred percent own it now.” You smiled, folding your arms behind his neck. “Yeah?” Your boyfriend smirked, taking hold of your hips. You nodded, lowering your mouth to his. “Now give me a kiss, Spidey!” The words had barely left your lips before Tom captured them on his own with such fervency you doubted his previous words.

Like a Movie 🎬
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Description - You and your boyfriend Hongjoong don’t really have time for dates or going out just the two of you because of his busy schedule, yet he always finds a way to keep you happy and show you his love.
Pairing - Hongjoong x reader (y/n)
Warnings - NONE really just kissing, full of fluff ☁️
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
I smiled at my reflection in the mirror as I got ready for a movie date with my boyfriend Hongjoong, our jobs have kept us really busy. We barely have our usual dates, and when we see each other we usually just fall asleep in each other’s arms— not that I minded though his embrace was one of the sweetest and warmest, and one of my favorite places to be too.
As I grabbed my bag I saw a text message from him that he had arrived. Sending him some heart emojis I grabbed my bag and made my way out of my house and saw him out his car leaning against it. God this man would be the end of me. With that black button-up shirt and leather jacket on top I blushed at my own thoughts and went to him and he chuckled as I fell into him wrapping my arms around his waist looking up at him due to our height difference
“god I missed you Jjoongie” I mumbled against his chest listening to his heartbeat for a few seconds before looking up at him kissing his chin.
“I missed you too sweetie! Are you ready?” he asked, keeping one of his arms wrapped around my shoulders as he reached into his pocket taking out two tickets.
“I bought them before time just so it’ll be quicker and we don’t waste time in line,” he said smiling.
“oh you’re always like that. Yes, I’m ready wait— Hoongie…Omg. the new romance movie?!” I asked him in shock, getting excited.
“yes love you told me that you really wanted to watch it. Since your friends had watched it with their boyfriends all cuddly and those cheesy things. So now you get to brag” he said laughing softly as I hit his arm gently.
“ow!” he yelled, rubbing his arm.
“I didn’t even hit you that hard, God I love you” I said giggling pecking his lips making him blush a little giving me a longer yet soft kiss.
“Love. We’ll be late for the movie…” I whispered, pulling away gently giggling blushing.
“oh right. get in love” he said, opening the door for me in his fancy car. I got in and got comfortable in the leather seat and looked at him walk to the other side of the car and got in.
As he drove I enjoyed the ride and looked out the window. It was starting to get dark so the city looked pretty with the building lights, it could be dark but being with Hongjoong could always brighten my day wherever and whenever. My thoughts came to a stop when I felt his big yet soft hand take mine in his and intertwined our fingers together. I blushed like it was the first time he did it. I didn’t know how he managed to do that. He was so perfect we were always a “sleepy couple” and I loved that. Nothing was rushed yet the little actions we did made it so sweet and romantic at times. Shocking. No. Never. There had never been intercourse with each other and he was so sweet about it and made me feel comfortable about the topic. When I would kiss him and he knew he needed to stop himself he did and cleared it off with me. Telling me if I was sure or not and if it was just kisses that I wanted so be it.
“We can take a walk after the movie love, the weather is nice” he said, his soothing voice bringing me back.
I smiled gently, rubbing my thumb on the back of his hand.
“Oh yes , sure baby. That sounds good to me!” I said happily as he parked the car and we made our way into the movie theater. We got in the snacks line and he spoiled me with a big bucket of popcorn and my favorite candy and drink. As he paid and I held the popcorn, the nice lady behind the cashier praised our cute relationship. I blushed and thanked her as Hongjoong smiled shyly and grabbing my candy and drink with one hand and took my hand with his other. We both smiled at the lady and left for the movie room and took our seats at the back sort of in the middle I smiled as I sat down and got comfortable. I looked around noticing that the AC in the room was making it super cold and I was wearing a skirt dang it.
I smiled at Hongjoong who took his seat next to me and he basically read my mind.
“you cold, love?” he asked sweetly yet concerned softly rubbing the spot above my knee.
“oh no… I’m fine” I said but before I knew he was already taking his jacket off and he placed it over my legs.
“It’s fine, love, I have a long sleeve shirt.” he said kissing my temple before pulling me close, making my head rest on his chest.
We got comfortable in each other’s arms as the movie started. I glanced at him and grabbed some popcorn and fed him some. Causing him to blush.
“What baby? can’t I feed you?” I whispered cutely.
“Well yes princess but there’s some people” he whispered looking at the few couples in the room.
“love they’ll probably start making out in a bit while i’m only feeding you popcorn” I said as I ate some candy.
He gave me a pout.
“I was just saying love.” He said before he pushed a popcorn in my mouth making me giggle quietly.
Minutes into the movie I was so focused and warm against Hongjoong’s body.
I was eating some of the popcorn left, with my head still on his warm chest and I giggled at a silly scene.
“Oh Hoongie. he is just as sweet as you with her—” I whispered, noticing he didn’t even hum an answer. I slowly moved my head to look at him already sound asleep. I couldn’t help but smile at how cute he was. I took out the small blanket from my bag I had taken with me and placed it over us. For a few minutes I ignored the movie and looked at his adorable sleepy face, gently fixing some of his hairs that fell on his face. I left a soft and gentle kiss on his cheek.
“You work so hard” I whispered gently, making the blanket cover him more. I rested my head back on his chest and continued the movie.
The credits were sliding up the screen and the few couples in the room exited as I looked at Hongjoong smiling softly leaving a soft peck on his lip gently touching his hair.
“baby…” I whispered gently as he groaned softly, waking up slowly, opening his eyes widening them when he saw the movie was over and looked at me softly rubbing his hands on his face over his eyes.
“love…god I’m so sorry…I don’t even know when I—“ he started talking as of he was feeling bad for falling asleep. I widened my eyes slightly and held his hand and laid my lips gently on his cutting off his words.
“don’t apologize Hoongie…you always work hard and as long as I get to be with you i’m happy even hearing your cute snores…” I said giggling.
“I don’t snore, beautiful!” he exclaimed, chuckling.“how about I make it up with a small walk through the city like I said?” he said softly, kissing the back of my hand.
“Not if you’re tired, we can go to my house and we can just sleep so you can rest better.” I said as he started folding the blanket and I put on his jacket.
“I think I’m good after that nap love…come on” he said grabbing my hand and our trash and we walked out.
I honestly couldn’t be happier.

"Let's date," Touya says out of the blue, which surprises Keigo.
Keigo chokes on his food, and Touya hands him a glass of water while patting his back, continuing, "Be my boyfriend, Keigo."
Keigo chugs the water and wipes his lips, saying, "No."
Touya furrows his brows. He's sure Keigo loves him. So, it confuses him why Keigo would turn him down.
"Why?" Touya asks, confusion evident on his face.
Keigo bites his bottom lip and thinks of how to explain, "I don't want to date you. It makes me feel like I'm baby-trapping you."
"What do you mean?" Touya takes Keigo's hands and kisses his knuckles. "If someone's baby-trapping someone, that would be me."
This time, it's Keigo's turn to furrow his brows. He looks at Touya with confusion, asking, "What?"
"I didn't plan on getting you pregnant. But I planned on marrying you even though we weren't together." Touya confesses. He pulls out his phone and shows Keigo a photo of him at a ring store. "I even bought a wedding ring, even though I wasn't sure you'd like me."
Keigo looks at Touya in disbelief. "You had all the chance in the world to ask me out. We're living together. We are roommates. But you’re asking me to date you now that I’m pregnant."
"I keep forgetting," Touya says honestly.
"How?" Keigo asks, still confused and a little offended. The longer their conversation went on, the more confused he got.
“I keep forgetting because it feels like we’re a couple, not roommates. Most of the time, we sleep on one bed. Every morning, we’ll do everything together. We eat breakfast, brush our teeth, and when we’re rushing, we bathe together. At night, we share dinner, lie on the same bed, talk about our day, watch a movie, then sleep. Do you think roommates do that? No, couples do that. So, can you blame me if I forget we aren’t dating?” Touya explains in one breath.
Keigo flushes at the realization. He fans himself with his hands and reflects.
“You’re right,” Keigo says after a while, “holy shit, you’re right!” He yells after everything sinks in.
“See? Even you’re surprised,” Touya says calmly. He watches as Keigo panics and waits for him to calm down.
“Are you done?” Touya asks when Keigo silently stares at him for an entire minute.
Keigo presses his lips and continues to stare at Touya silently.
“If you have something you want to say, say it.”
Keigo takes a deep breath and asks, “Where’s the ring?”
Touya smirks, “You don’t want to date me, but you’re asking for the ring? How shameless of you, Mr. Takami Keigo.”
Keigo rolls his eyes, “you already said we were like a couple while living together, so what’s the point of dating? Let’s just get married.”
Touya looks at him with disbelief, “Keigo, I’m asking you to be my boyfriend because I want to take you out on an official date. I want you to experience having a before getting a husband. So, be patient and date me for two years. The ring is yours anyway.”
A tear falls from Keigo’s eyes after hearing Touya’s words. Keigo pulls Touya into a tight hug and showers him with kisses. He endlessly whispers I love you to Touya before letting him go.
“I love you so much I feel like my heart will explode,” Keigo says as he wipes his tears.
“I know. You told me that a hundred times a few seconds ago,”
Keigo glares at Touya, “Are you so unappreciative.”
Touya laughs and wraps his arm around Keigo’s shoulder. He pulls him close and kisses his head, “I’m teasing you. So, what do you say about visiting the museum tomorrow?”
“I’ll check if I’m free,” Keigo says after burying his face in Touya’s neck.
Touya chuckles. He knows Keigo’s free because he’s on paternity leave. But he still plays along, “Okay, tell me as soon as you know. I promise you won’t regret going on a date with me.”

For a little Heaven/AASB prompt: A Nightmare on Elm Street
Chelsea my love 💜 This has been sitting in my drafts for so long. (The last blurb game I played.) I love you and know you needed a little time to feel better, but hopefully this can make you smile a little. Sorry this is so late, I am TRASH.

December 1984
It had been a month.
A month full of nightmares and worry and tentative touches.
Eddie walked on eggshells around you, making sure you knew how much he cared about you—how much he loved you—while he whispered sweet nothings in your ear, hoping to soothe whatever demons lurked just beyond your consciousness.
But he couldn’t deny it anymore.
You lied to him.
And he needed to confront you about it.
“You saw Nightmare on Elm Street without me,” he exclaimed as you opened the door to greet him, ready for a night in.
Your previously excited expression fell.
“Eddie, I—”
“Nope,” he interrupted and pushed past you into your apartment. “I don’t wanna hear it. You said you didn’t want to go with me and you went anyway.”
After the whole incident that night in November—the one that had you practically clawing at his door, covered in soot and muck and smelling like smoke—he had treaded carefully. You had put on a brave face but he knew that you weren’t ok.
You flinched when he touched you if you didn’t expect him to. If you spilled any gas when you went to fill up your car, you’d scrub and scrub your hands until the skin was raw and throbbing.
However, the nights where you stayed together—whether at your apartment or at the trailer—and you woke up panting and in a cold sweat were the worst.
Which was why he didn’t protest when you turned down seeing the movie with him, despite having been excited several weeks before when you’d seen the preview for it on tv.
“That looks absolutely amazing. I can’t believe they’re waiting for November. They should have released it for Halloween!” You gushed.
“Listen, that Terminator movie seems pretty cool too,” he justified. “We’ll just have to wait.”
So the two of you waited, and Eddie waited even longer, it seemed.
He didn't bring it up when the Hawk began advertising it on the marquee--he thought he was giving you time before springing a nightmare monster on you--but at Thanksgiving, Wayne had mentioned it after the commercial popped up during dinner and you immediately became flighty.
"That the movie you kids were thinking' of seeing?" he asked around a mouthful of mashed potatoes.
"Yeah, we need to get tickets before the Hawk features another show." Eddie turned to you. "How 'bout it, angel? You're off tomorrow."
"Oh, umm," you pushed your fork through your macaroni and cheese and shrugged. "I'm kind of...tired. I was just gonna stay in, if you wanted to just come over and watch movies with me there."
Eddie agreed, of course. Not only was he eager for any amount of time he could spend with you, he just...didn't want to push you before you were ready. He also didn't want to be the kind of boyfriend who steamrolled you just because he wanted to do something.
He'd been around enough assholes like that and he knew, whether you explicitly said it or not, that you had been too.
Still...he really didn't want to wait until Family Video had the tape for rent.
So on the last day that it was at the Hawk, some dull little Wednesday at the beginning of December, he went. Brought Jeff, Gareth, and Dave under the guise of it being a treat for a great set the night before. (They really had done a good job.)
And on the way out, he noticed the poster still hanging outside of the box office. The creepy claws, Heather Langenkamp's petrified gaze. Maybe seeing the movie would be too much for you, but the poster would look really good on the otherwise-barren walls of your little apartment.
So told the boys to wait in the van so he could beg and plead and possibly bribe the theater manager--one of Rick's fishing buddies--to give the poster to him.
Imagine Eddie's surprise when the older man pulled a post it off the side of the cash register and said it was already spoken for. That surprise only increased tenfold when he recognized your name and phone number scrawled there.
Eddie asked when you'd claimed it.
"Yeah, a big group from Bradley's came by right before Thanksgiving" the manager shrugged. "You know old Tim likes to do...what do they call it? Team building? Whatever new fangled ways that you get out of paying out a holiday bonus."
Eddie didn't know how to feel...he knew you kept secrets...he did too. It wasn't that the two of you were lying to one another, per se...this certainly felt like a lie though.
Why wouldn't you just tell him you had seen the movie?
The two seconds it took for the theater manager to take a breath and get to his feet were an eternity for Eddie, and in that eternity, he spiraled in insecurity. His doubt in you, in your relationship, in himself.
He didn't want to do it. Didn't want to be this way. But what else should he think--could he think--but that it was his fault when everyone left?
The theater manager exited the box office and walked over to the poster display. He fished keys from his back pocket and unlocked the little window, then pulled the poster out and handed it to a numb Eddie, oblivious to his internal conflict.
"She said it was some kind of surprise for her boyfriend," the manager explained. "But...you're practically Rick's kid. I can't say no to you Ed. Just don't tell anyone where you got it. I don't want to get some kind of phone call saying I'm...out to destroy young love or something."
Just like that, all of the doubt exited his body.
Now here he was, standing before you as you stammered and tried to explain, as you tried to say that you had no choice. You paced and worried your fingers together and he knew he had to stop you before you got too caught up in your guilt.
He pulled the poster out from where it was tucked inside of his jacket and held the roll out to you.
"What's this?" you grabbed it from him with a frown.
"The scroll with the instructions for the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch," he grinned and urged you to look at it.
You unfurled the poster and the tension in your shoulders dissipated.
"You could have just gone with me again," Eddie offered. "I wouldn't have minded."
"I just...didn't want to be a disappointment to you," you sighed. "I know you were looking forward to it. You always cover my eyes during the jump scares. That's your favorite part."
"No," Eddie shrugged. "My favorite part is making out with you during the credits."
You rolled your eyes and rolled the poster back up to hit him with it.
"Hey now, don't damage the goods," Eddie laughed and grabbed you by the arms to stop your playful abuse. "It took a lot of work to woo old Bill into giving me that poster."
"I wanted to surprise you," you scoffed. "I was even gonna give him $20!"
"You seriously underestimate my ability to charm people, sweetheart," Eddie teased. "Hypnotize them, get them to fall for my devastating good looks."
"I guess I'm just immune to that charm," you snarked and he shifted his hands quickly to your waist tickle you. "Ah no Eddie!"
You shrieked and squirmed until you started to go limp in his arms, unable to withstand the assault any longer. His fingers slowed down and he took the opportunity to smack a kiss against your lips.
"Just you wait. One day I'll find the right words, the right enchantment," he vowed in a faux menacing voice. "And you'll never escape my spell, ever again."
