if it makes anyone feel any better spray cheese is pretty much just cheddar that's been softened using whey and canola oil so that it can come out of a nozzle and not some strange amalgamation of unnatural chemicals the way some people think it is. it's still weird and pretty much unseen outside of america but its composition isn't any more strange than most snack foods--
lmaoooo it's okay no worries
i mostly played up my imaginary disgust because people tag me in those things and well, i am a clown who aims to please and make people laugh. I genuinely don't actually care.
Cheddar is not really an usual cheese in France though, we have some in store because of American foods like hamburger or hot dog having popularized it enough, but that's about it and about as rarely as you'll see it. When i was a kid (wayyy before internet bridged a lot of cultural gaps) i remember people being offended that it was even called cheese, but it's an outrage i haven't seen in the last two decades of my life.
It is considered a subpar cheese, because we're a cheese loving nation (and i know personally it makes me feel a little sick) but not nearly as outrageous as many non-french think it is.
and i watched enough American movies to know about the spray cheese. Some movies i watched when i was a kid were showing those off and at first i thought it was whipped cream because that's the sort of package our whipped creams come into. And then i saw it was yellow and it was no fucking way. and then i grew up just shrugging it off as this type of "the fatal American need to have a pretty good time". Like, knock yourself out, to each their own.
Every culture approach food differently, there's no right or wrong way, and French people don't have the monopoly on cheese and what a right cheese is.
a bit more salt though,
ngl a lot of memes and jokes about French culture and language (which aren't directly linked to our history or politics) tend be strawmen argument of stereotypes some people exported elsewhere in the world from behaviors decades ago and/or behaviors from Parisians. (and if you don't know the rest of France have beef with Parisians, so a lot of time this is eyeroll worthy even for literally anywhere else in France.). or of the upper class and chasers.
Honestly the jokes grew old to me after like one decade, but complaining about it is completely pointless, this is mid irritation at best and the few times i rolled my eyes at some way ppl interpreted French stuff on here i had people asking me to answer for French colonization crimes in my comment (which, as someone who's both parents aren't even fully french and who suffered from said history, feels exhausting to me, i don't want to come up with a disclaimer of how France is bad everytime i'm tired of a lame joke)
Also like. not against you in particular nonny but Americans also kinda have the habit of projecting how much they don't know about others countries on how other countries might not know American culture as if Americanization wasn't one of the biggest social impact of the modern era and as if many countries' popculture isn't shapped from American medias nowadays. Bc yeah like i said, this type of things is stuff i've seen in movies since i'm a kid and just thought "oh so that's just an American thing, okay" and moved on with my life.
(also i have a diploma in USA&UK History, Literature, Culture and Linguistic, and have been on American platform blending in for the past 15 years. There's stuff that will always escape my knowledge because sometimes there's niche stuff no one realize they have to explain, or things will never get the depth they need that way, but, more often than not, I Am Aware.)
so i just take the L, the curse of being French, it's not like there's any right way to answer to that except that just "ahah right we're so silly", the French are the last people you'd want to defend.
and if my friends want to tag me into french jokes i'm just going to play it up for the bit. I don't care enough about whenever the joke is accurate or not or whenever it even matters, but i do care about playing along with my friends and hopefully making them smile.
so don't mistake my humble clowning as anything other than that ahah.
No harm done though i do appreciate you wanted to explain! but. yeah really i'm good lmao

10 Questions Meme
tagged by @youholdthewater (also @seunrig but I’ll reply to those on the Main Blog)
responses under the cut
1. Your most trusted director or writer?
writer is Hard b/c I tend to find kdrama writers inconsistent or they don’t write very often (where is the SUFBB writer? free her). I don’t really have an answer for that one unfort. Jung Yoon Jung? mb? for Arang and the fact that I know Misaeng is Amazing even if I don’t have the heart to make it through.
for director it’s probably Yun Seong Sik. I love the performances he gets out of actors in his dramas, and the directing is smooth and pretty without being too flashy? also Lee Yoon Jung.
2. Your favourite actor or actress in a Permanently Supporting role? The people who always show up as cops, mothers-in-law, teachers/mentors, loan sharks, best friends, etc. Not glamorous enough to be leads but generally form the backbone of the non-leading cast?
I was going to put Kim Sung Oh in all caps but then I remembered he’s had a lead role. hmmmm. Choi Moo Sung? I’ve loved every performance of his and I wish he was utilized in dramas more. his performance as Safari in HC was incredible.
3. Two or more actors you enjoy watching bc of their chemistry & you wish they would work together more often?
Kim Ha Neul and Choi Yeo Jin!!! best friendship dynamic I’ve seen in literal years.
also Park Ki Woong and Joo Won ;~;
4. An actor/actress you wish would appear on a variety show
mb Jo Bo Ah? I’m struggling b/c a lot of my fave have been in variety shows before.
5. One role in a drama you would recast.
lead role in WFKBJ for obvious reasons that I’m not going to get into lmao.
6. A drama you really enjoyed/loved on first viewing, but has lost its charm over time/you just don’t feel the same about it anymore.
probably I Remember You? I loved watching it and it had a lot of Good Things but man the ending kind of killed a lot of my love. 7. On the other hand, a drama that took time/repeated attempts before you could love it?
I had to start Gaksital three separate times before I actually stuck w it. the first episodes are Important but also not as engaging as the back half? 8. Anything you genuinely enjoy about Kim Eun Sook dramas/writing?
I think she has great ideas (that aren’t always executed to their full extent), and isn’t afraid to take some risks. also, obviously, p good at casting her dramas.
9. A drama/actor/writer/PD you think is overrated
drama-- maybe Healer? don’t get me wrong I like it but the Universal love I’m sometimes a little ? about. ok in all honesty I’m still bitter abt Yoo Ji Tae being underutilized w/e.
actor-- Lee Soo Hyuk. I’m sorry!!!!! out of the model boys I’m the most unimpressed by his performances.
PD-- I don’t love Song Hyun Wook’s shaky camera style. 10. A drama/actor/writer/PD you think is deeply underrated + deserves more love.
drama-- Heart to HEART or Baek Hee Has Returned
actor-- Kim Sung Oh (listen...) + Kim Seul Gi (I think her acting is more well rounded than people give her credit for)
PD-- I loved the IRY PD. even w the shitty cgi butterfly scene.
I feel like everyone and their mom has done this meme so I won’t tag anyone.

My friends recently really got into the MBTI personnalities test and I would honestly recommend, even if it's just to make time pass :)
Apparently, I'm an ENFP which essentially means I've got the extraverted, intuitive, with Feelings and prospecting personnality traits.
It also means I'm the "campaigner" and my little character is green and somehow looks like a turtle? Idk, it's weird.. but cool 😏
And looking at the memes, I also adopt all the introverts like I would adopt dogs. However, I am the most introverted extravert... which is kinda true ngl.
Anyways, if any of you know it maybe you would like to share it?

I need to remind myself that twitter is not the same thing as tumblr. I can't just keep retweeting on twitter, there are actual implications to my actions on there, i have friends there. No. The embarrassment is too big on twitter. I shall just keep shitposting on here

Does anybody know what decade The Invisible Libary is set in? We know it’s during the Victorian era, but do the books mention a decade?
I’m asking because my brain wants to imagine what type of dresses Irene would wear 😂

I just came back from this camping trip and honestly i had such a great time.
As predicted, i did freeze a hell of a lot during the night even though i slept next to another person and my dog in the tent. But during the day i was really hot and before sleeping i was nice and cozy because we were all in front of a bonfire. On top of that one of my friends made me not one, but 3 cups of tea lol. Shout out to him :)
We were awake until like 3 in the morning, 2 hours after putting "the kids to bed". These persons were really drunk and just wouldn't cooperate. You know, we took the alcohol out of their hands and they would just go back and get some more. Eventually, one of them got stuck in their attempt to fetch a new bottle -we surrounded him- and bloody idiot jumped out of the WINDOW. He obviously cut himself quite badly and then i had to clean it (given that i am the only one who doesn't gag at blood and was willing to ignore my disgust to help). After all that dilemma, the rest of us just talked for like 2 hours and it was really nice. We toasted marshmallows in the fire and looked at the clear sky.
Being the "youngsters" that we are, it took us about 2 hours to light a fire, 1 hour to put a few tents up, and 2h30 to walk a path that takes 2 hours lol. In all fairness, we were all carrying at least 10kg on our backs in the sun. But it was all worth it when we finally got there.
The views were absolutely splendid and my group of 12 just talked and played a few games during all the time, made fun of another and helped each other, and just lived in the moment. The lake, the stars and galaxy, the marmots, Simba, the fresh air, the shit ton amount of sweets and just our company. I wasn't actively participating in the conversation but i was there to enjoy the moment with everybody else.
The bad thing was that, even though we walked like 4 hours yesterday in such a beautiful place, i still got blisters on my feet -_-. The result of that was torture on the hour and a half walk back today. They are really painful :'(
On top of that, everybody loved Simba and i kept getting compliments on the subject of his behaviour. He really is a charming dog :)
I think that is all that happened in a few words.
Take away from the experience: we will totally do it again, but next time i'll be more careful with my feet, bring warmer clothes and BUY MY DOG SOME SORT OF JACKET

So tomorrow I have got my Bac Blanc and I really don't want to do it. It's a 4 hour exam where absolutely phenomenal grades are 16/20 and the average is around 8/20
:(
I should really study
