so. I've been reading some posts on the jedi order tag AND i won't talk about my opinion on "are jedi good or bad discourse" BUT i wanna point out some lore to everyone who's complaining about the jedi taking kids into their order: (in the EU) it wasn't always like this.
if you take swtor era (more than 3000 years before the prequels) there were many jedi who joined at an older age. like, for example there was a guy who broke his engagement to become one. most jedi remember their families because they were old enough when they decided to go.
THEN in darth bane's book trilogy (circa 1000 yesrs before the prequels) there is a passage where two sith lords are talking about taking bane, already an adult, to study at korriban. one doubted him because he was too old, ans the other told him he sounded like a jedi, and that ONE DAY jedi will have to accept only kids into their ranks if they really want to find "pure" people that can learn their lessons quicker.
one day!! so it wasn't always like that!! the ongoing wars with the sith, who corrupted and killed many of them, had pressured them into taking always younger people into their ranks.
also, consider a thing that this video explains super well: training to become a jedi is not like exercising, because there is a transformative lesson at the end of the training that changes everything. you can't just do as much as you can, but not finish.
the transformative lesson, as the video explains, is that through the force, everything is the same - from rocks and ships to life and death. at the end of the training you have to understand this fundamental truth.
yoda says "you have to unlearn what you have learned". during times where they were constantly killed off or corrupted by the dark side (and if you haven't learned this lesson you are more susceptible to this corrupting), younger people were taken in to actually finish their training (a training that was ultimately about being a good person AND that you could leave at any point if you weren't sold on that, too)
(remember that for the sith failure = death. like. that was the alternative for force sensitive kids. it's not like sith had any moral problem with taking kids away without consent. sith don't have moral problems: they believe that them being stronger in the force means they can do whatever they want as long as their strong enough to go and do it. there are MANY passages in many different star wars stories, even in different mediums, that say this out loud)
AND (this is more of a critical thought than just stating the lore) the fact that they started doing it out of necessity doesn't mean it's 100% good BUT you know. the whole set up of the prequels is that we're starting off the story in a period of crisis and decadence all around. most of the systems of the times were about to fall. OF COURSE they had problems. if they didn't, we wouldn't have the story to begin with.
that doesn't automatically mean jedi = bad and sith are better, tho. you wouldn't take the last, chaotic and decadent period to jugde something, would you? it's like deciding that the athenian democracy sucked because people at the times of Demosthenes failed at recognizing the new schemes in which the world was evolving into, and still believed that their city would be important as it had been in the previous century. They just didn't fucking expect the Macedons would conquer half the world known and more, and have the subsequent political power. Still, their experiences in the 5th century with democracy were very good, even better than ours on many fronts, if you contextualize a little. the jedi had flaws, and most importantly, they didn't fucking know the future and everything that ever happened, ever, so they made mistakes. that doesn't automatically make the system ill, or bad, or not-working. systems can have setbacks when the world changes. (just like athenian democracy had one when they lost the empire that was funding the democracy. they even had a tyranny for a while and then fixed the problems. that doesn't diminish retrospectively their democracy)

In another realm, we would've been fucked.
[AKA, what if the French were present during the Eggpire fiasco]
Extra: I tried to do funny hahas with cropping, but it didn't work so here are the funny haha's :]
(under "read more" more info about the lil AU I made :D)
TLDR: I like connecting different series/worlds. It's one of my favourite things to do, so here's a lil AU where the French members of the QSMP were present during the Eggpire before ending up on the island! :D
Étoiles got sick quickly and was among the first to join the Eggpire. During the red banquet, he was the security guard and stopped people from leaving it. Further, he was also in charge of stopping people from removing the blood vines from the world (which ofc he did by fighting them to the death).
Antoine discovered after a while that he was one of few with full immunity, which gladly made use of by inconveniencing Étoiles whenever he could (thanks to him, Q, Techno and Purple could get into the banquet without being spotted by anyone). He was also a part of the pro-omelette movement.
Pierre was on holiday when the world went to shit and came back right before the banquet started. He decided that it wasn't his business and spent most of his time underground building machines. He helped Antoine clean up the blood vines once but then got attacked by Étoiles and decided that he'd rather not get involved. That encounter did cause him to also get infected, so he locked himself up in a bunker until it all blew over.
(I don't have anything for Baghera or Kameto but ideas are always welcome <3)
(oh yea, also sign translates to: "no armor, no weapons. And no dirt, and no explosives, and no boxes")
(and the sign in the comic translates ^^ plus: no camera's, no microphones, no Pierre's, no bags)

Honestly call me crazy but I feel the Minutemen were a huge missed opportunity in Fallout 4. For one of the supposedly main factions of the game, the Minutemen feel like a very optional side group. Comparing them to the Capital Wasteland BoS or NCR, the Minutemen have almost no presence outside of their first appearance in Concord. Even on a first playthrough, after rescuing Garvey and company, the player is immediately given a map marker to Diamond City; making the minutemen entirely irrelevant after this point to the Sole Survivor's main goal. So my proposal is simply this: what if they didn't tell you about Diamond City.
Think about it for a moment. Without his dedicated trackers, Garvey can't help you find anyone. He wouldn't even know where to start looking, and neither do the rest of his group. So with no other map markers or world locations, the player would be much more incentivized to return to Sanctuary with the Minutemen. Afterwards, you're still inducted, sent out on a settler aid mission, etc. But without the immediate quest to find Diamond City, the player has much more of a reason to interact with the minutemen, and the open world as a whole. Every mission with the MM is another group of settlers that the Sole Survivor can ask about finding Shaun, a new location with potential side content. By letting the player explore the world through the Minutemen, it both makes them more relevant as a faction and makes the quest for Shaun feel much more desperate. When the player eventually comes upon Diamond City on their own, and finds out about Nick Valentine, it would feel so much more earned due to the effort taken to get to this point.
I'm not saying it would fix all of Fallout 4's problems. Not by a long shot. But with this simple change, I feel like we'd be able to help take Fallout 4 and push it more in the direction of Fallouts 3 and New Vegas in terms of exploration incentive, as well as the involvement of the main quest. Just food for thought.

Oh God. David Heard There's Room Service In Hell!!
Once again, I am testing my drawing ability by NOT doing any of the MANY illustrations I need, but I would've been sad if I couldn't finish an illustration. And look! I made it! I CAN DRAW! (And collage, obvs not my suitcase or BG, but all Public Domain)!! Well, my stylus needs a new battery, BUT, IN THEORY, I CAN DRAW! It's low res like all my test images, and I don't think I'm gonna put Vivziepop out of business anytime soon, but I'm fond of it.
That's why I'm so sad that it'll NEVER EVER HAPPEN. As a storyteller (albeit an obscure one) let me elucidate...
Strictly in terms of narrative viability, David hails from an incompatible universe. For an Invisible, he's middling. The Compelling Voice he's so fond of seems to be standard-issue, he's just more of an asshole about using it. In Tin Soldier and Soldier On, he's not all that hard to beat. Some people even have a natural immunity! He's only a threat in the first place because nobody knows what he can do.
But the minute he rolls up to the Hazbin Hotel, not only does nobody know what he can do, nobody has that natural immunity, and it would be hard as hell (haha) to beat him with their combat-friendly magic system. David isn't doing that Capcom-esque "freeze the enemy for a few seconds while they're looking at it" hypnosis. He's issuing unbreakable commands. If you're not deaf, the only way to beat him is to forget what he said. And that seems like it would be difficult, if not impossible, for most of the cast. Alastor certainly won't stoop to inflicting head trauma or hypnosis or amnesiac-levels of liquor on himself.
And that MIGHT not be a problem, except as soon as Dave meets Al he's gonna go from zero to nemesis in about three seconds flat. "Hmm, let's see. Neat freak, carefully-curated personality, perma-smile, never a moment's weakness... That's a pathetic little traumatized man-baby and I'm going to pull him out of his shell if I need to use a crab fork!" And, canonically, Alastor is also willing to make enemies that quickly. David has a sense of humour and no sense of self preservation, combat tentacles and veiled threats ain't gonna do it. Round one, David's gonna mop the floor with the Radio Demon.
...And by that, I mean he'd stuff Alastor into one of Niffty's frilliest little outfits and literally make him mop the floor, and even Charlie encouraging him to be a better person wouldn't get him to quit. Also, he'd be ignoring her and bending over backwards to get Angel's attention.
"Oh, listen. The man is over one hundred years old with zero interest in one-night stands or whirlwind romances. Prohibition isn't a thing anymore, drinking and dancing just doesn't cut it. Give him a chance to develop a fetish for something a little bit taboo..."
"I̸̠̤̐̄̄ ̸͕̝͙̌A̸̪̅M̴̭̰̙̎̓ ̶͓̻̐̉L̷̹͕̍I̷̯͗T̷̫̄Ȩ̶̾̋R̴̝̥͒A̷͔̩͋̃̕Ļ̵͗͜L̶̘̈́Y̵͇̓͗̂ ̴̼̪̘͠Ā̷̠̽̆ ̶͍͓̊̉C̷̣͕̺͆̃͝A̵͙̾̅N̶̥̬̮̄N̴̤̯̬̒̉̚I̴̩̜̍B̷͈̪̩̄À̴̝̦L̶̪͂͛͗!̶̟̆"
"That's not a fun night out. It's barely even a meal, what with the garbage they're feeding people these days. I imagine everyone tastes like a fucking 'Cool Ranch Dorito.'" [while making quote marks with both hands] "Isn't he from Louisiana? They invented spicy! Tell me, my deer fellow, is the cross-dressing and domination lighting up any dials?"
"Ì̴̗ ̶̧̫͓͋W̵͜͝Í̸̗͋L̴͔͆̊̌L̴̨̜͚͂ ̸͈̤́Ḱ̵̳̩͜Í̷̘̾L̶̨̫̬̉͋̌Ļ̵̱̗͐͊ ̴̧̣͊̄̈́Y̴̛͖̺͓̓̐O̶̢̦̍̀U̷̠̞͇̎ ̷̨̛̮̭I̷̙̜̽N̸̘̣͙̆ ̵̞͑͝Y̷̰̭̽O̷̟̘̹̓Ủ̶̢̏R̷͉͑̄̀ ̷̧̧̤̎Ŝ̶̱͈̃L̵̰͋Ȅ̸̜̗̙̊̍E̷͇̦̒P̷͈̝̅̆͌.̴̡͈̅͑̓͜"
"My good man, I have unlimited access to drugs and a fun new activity, WHY WOULD I SLEEP? What shall we try next? Do you have any drugs, Angel? Oh, of course you do! Do you think he's more of an upper or a downer person? I think a few muscle relaxants might loosen up that permanent rictus of social anxiety, but God only knows. You must be smoking a crate of cigarettes a day! Do you even brush? Your teeth, I mean. Do you suppose those lovely people at Lourdes make a mouthwash...?"
And Charlie would say, clasping her little hands, "Okay! What if we make some popcorn and talk about our childhood traumas? Yaaaay!"
But David would, inevitably, pass out. Most likely after binging and doing untold damage with Angel. And Alastor would kill him... And that's where we have the biggest fucking plot problem of all. Alastor's go-to method of disposal is tearing people to pieces while broadcasting it on the radio. And it seems like their screaming continues for quite some time, perhaps eternally.
I have expressed this in song form, because I have a weird brain and I couldn't resist.
Wait, wait, nevermind the eternal torment. Can these little hellions hear me?
Test, test, is this thing on? Pardon me, could you quiet down a bit? I have a few things I’d like to… Will you stop screaming? Ugh.
EVERYBODY SHUT UP AND LISTEN RIGHT NOW!
That’s better.
I have a little message for my executive producer.
Well! I say!
Colour me startled, you fulfilled your vow
Think you’ve won? But I’ve barely begun!
I’m always looking for new fans to wow
Can you hear me NOW?
[aside] Will you screamers sing backup if I command it?
Can I get a little harmony?
(We… can’t help ourselves?)
I am eternal, and guess who’s just boosted my signal
So I can reach all of you lovely new people?
(We can’t help ourselves!)
It’s your own Radio Demon!
What was he thinking?
(We can’t help ourselves!)
What was he drinking? Ha!
His dial must be twisted!
Now I’m serenading the damned for my infinite span
All according to plan!
Am I a madman or a genius?
I’m a pianist! Take that, FCC
I’m a wonder, your saviour
Please excuse my rude behaviour, (but the demon sure done fucked up!)
Think he did me a favour?
Silence my vocals? A failure!
I’m louder and I’m certainly braver
So crank the signal to the noise, and enjoy my compelling voice
It’s nice to have all these new toys, (but our deer friend is annoyed)
A Spirit of Radio beats a demon blow for blow
This Invisible is crackling on the air!
Well, one does like to believe
Though you’re stuck, I’m almost free!
That’s what you think!
Your weak signal can’t compare
Though you’ve had a little fun
Your broadcast is done, and it’s time for your payback
I’m in control
Too bad you atomized my soul!
… Not this attention-starved, brandy-addled, overgrown twink
Guilty!
What could be more absurd? A plagiarist bird
Tweety-pie can’t even sing, his theft is pitchy
You call that bitchy?
I’m afraid that’s not entertainment!
You're looking for a new twist? Then let’s remix the arrangement!
Is Al as stiff as he projects?
What sorts of kinks do you suspect?
I’ve seen lacy details with my very eyes!
He lies!
And if I Tiked a Tok or two
Well, there’s nothing he can do!
A V̷̰͖̉̂͝İ̶̙D̵̛̻̮̙͛̕E̴̼̱̕Ŏ̷͆ͅ?̷̗͎̞̏̅!
If I did, you can’t delete it
That's the truth!
When I find you in here, Ÿ̴͕̚Õ̸̠̝̕Ů̵̩̹Ŕ̸͔ ̸̬̋̂̔͜T̸̮̙͌̕Ő̵͔͕̑̄R̵̩̣̅͌̌͜M̷̝̹̾̏Ĕ̶̦͕̟Ň̶̮͊Ṱ̷̲̈̔̈ ̵̡̹̟̑Ẅ̷̝́͝I̷͉͋ͅL̴͎̞̎L̶̯͓͑ ̵̬͐͐͝Ḅ̸͚̬̅Ẹ̴̎̿͠ ̴̻͉̲̐̈́͠N̵̖̟̤͑̽E̴͙͎͘V̸̡͕̦̾̕Ė̵̝͈̀Ŕ̴̺-̸̡̱̇̾̉E̴̠̣̊̐̋Ń̵͔̬̝̑D̴̡̬͙̓İ̴͔͋͊N̸̞̙͐̒Ĝ̷̼̺̐͆.̸̤̭́̐̅.̸̰̓͝.̷̤̬̌

Darling, please, you’re lost in static
One thing’s clear!
You must be wishing that you took the L, you poor deer
Say farewell. I’m very grateful that you gave me Hell
Oh, this will be swell!
[Vivziepop, distantly:] Fuck!
"Stayed Gone" is a patter song and I can't keep up with it as I read it, but I think the lyrical parts scan, at least. A-heh. Please excuse my hubris, but it's doubtful anyone will see this.
Of course, I would never torment someone with arguably GNC-phobic revenge porn, but that guy IS NOT ME. Your only hope for dealing with David is if Vaggie decides he's more of a threat than an amusement and straight up kills him, and that's not a plot, that's a cul-de-sac. So this little not-a-fic is all you'll get from me about this unsustainable situation.
...Alright, I might put Alastor in a maid outfit if anyone cares, but I really should be illustrating. I have precisely 13 to do before I can post more story! Unless I decide to post it anyway!
All apologies to Vivziepop, whom I've name-checked as one of a few creators I'd sell out or saw off my leg to work with. But - although I am tempting fate - prrrobably no one will see this. I'm just doin' a little practice and amusing myself.
Right, Tumblr?

here's the plot i had imagined for the hypothetical season 2 of Gotham Knights (may it rest in peace 😭💔 -- or not?? renew it you cowards)
I can see the GK teaming up by themselves keeping the streets of Gotham clean without Turner. Then I imagine him showing up saving them in the s2 premiere with upgraded skills. And I imagine a whole season where they get to rebuild their trust with him (because they've been apart for like one whole year??) and we find out slowly (through flashbacks) what happened to him during this training and who those people are. In the meantime Two Face does his things, Duela tries and reach out (or he's the one who does) and it's complicated because he's evil, but Harvey tries to resurface constantly and we see a lot of that, of him struggling and Harvey trying to stop his evil counterpart and keep him at bay (while telling us more about his backstory) but the evil side is winning and must be stopped. In the end the French show up to help? BUT THEN maybe the one in charge (that during that year had gained Turner's trust *causing jealousy from the GKs*) betrays them? So maybe in the finale they team up with Two Face (Duela persuades him because he and not Harvey is actually her father) to fight the French men?? Which is revealed to be the common enemy??
I imagine Two Face unleashing his full evil to do so, and also in the final fight saving Duela's life. And maybe that was Two Face, not Harevey, doing this act of care--and it breaks something good inside him. So maybe he saves her and leaves her somewhere and then disappears (party because he's ashamed of showing her his worse evil, partly cause he's afraid she may destroy his evil side, erasing it, because what is he, without it?? just Harvey).
And I imagine a season 3 where Duela is searching for him, but nobody's heard of him for months. But somehow she wants to find him, because maybe she saw something in him, being as screwed up as she is, but also caring about her in a way that her mother never really had, and she wants to give him a chance (which is weird for her, as all the GK point out, but it speaks to her character development).
