Have not posted about mine and @queenjunothegreat’s next gen kids in way too long so: Pipeyna kiddie

-Her name is Emilia McLean. Her go-to nickname is Em. When she’s in trouble, Piper calls her Lea. Yes, she‘s named after Leo. He would not stop wailing when he was told about this.

-Em is Sofía’s best friend. She’s three years older than Sofía and they grow up considering each other sisters. (Good luck trying to tell Sofía they’re not sisters because they’re not related, she’s not related to her dads either and they’re still her dads, so checkmate)

-When they were small, Sofía followed Em around like a little duckling, insisting to play whatever Em was playing and do whatever Em was doing. There’s nothing these two wouldn’t do for each other. (Also yes I gave them matching earrings in different colors because they’re dorks and they would.)

-Em loves skirts and dresses and putting her hair up in fancy braids. Reyna’s got the braiding covered due to her time on Circe’s island, but when Em asked her moms to show her how to do her makeup, they were both sweating profusely because Piper hasn’t let anyone put makeup on her since she was twelve and Reyna’s just never really bothered with it? They spent like an hour trying to watch a makeup tutorial before giving up and admitting they need help. Hylla never lets Reyna live it down, but Emilia is thrilled because “the queen of the Amazons taught me how to do my makeup” is a pretty cool thing to brag about. (There was a discussion on whether or not to call Drew instead but in the end they settled on Hylla because they knew Hylla would be annoying but not as overly smug about it.)

-Drew absolutely takes Em clothes shopping sometimes because she’s decided Reyna and Piper are both useless. Piper lets it happen because it makes Em happy but is also fuming about it. Reyna is honestly just grateful to be getting out of clothes shopping lmao her closet is almost entirely made up of work outfits.

-Piper and Reyna have a rescue dog named Kitty (Em named her when she was three, in honor of that the name is spelled in all caps in all official documents) and Em loves that dog so much. It’s entirely mutual. Kitty is wildly protective of Em and will bite people if they so much as look at her weird.

-Leo is Em’s chaotic fun uncle and they get into so many shenanigans together. Jason is a significantly less chaotic uncle than his husband but somehow always ends up caught in the crossfire of their uncle-niece shenanigans.

-Leo being the chaotic fun uncle inevitably comes back to bite him when Em takes a page out of his book and starts getting into shenanigans with Sofía. Piper is absolutely cackling in the background.

Some more lore stuff under the cut since this is getting kind of long

-Em is actually the only next gen child named specifically after another demigod. This is both because Leo is close friends with her moms and because in a universe where names have power, choosing the name of the guy who beat the odds and quite literally rewrote fate—who defied death not once but twice so he could have his happy ending—is the greatest blessing Piper can think to give her daughter.

-Leo has thought of himself as a curse for a large chunk of his life. The concept of having his name used as a blessing is something he never fully recovers from.

-Speaking of names: Reyna’s bloodline and family legacy was meant to be intricately tied to New Rome’s survival. It ruined her life and took away almost her entire childhood. She happily laid her family name to rest and took Piper’s when they married. They mostly live in the mortal world and her ties with New Rome aren’t nearly as strong as they used to be when she was growing up, but there’s a part of her is terrified that this will come back to haunt her daughter one day. She never tells her daughter about Bellona’s prophecy. She won’t allow for her to grow up with the future of New Rome on her shoulders.

-Emilia is a natural leader. Aside from her general proficiency with various weapons, her main power is a sort of motivational charmspeak—not quite Piper’s ability to control others, and not quite Reyna’s ability to project her own emotions outward, but a milder combination of both that allows her to demand the attention of other demigods, instill confidence in those listening to her and rally her troops. Everyone knows she’d be a praetor at Camp Jupiter in no time, and it terrifies Reyna.

-But Em is a legacy of Aphrodite and Bellona both. She has a place at Camp Half-Blood as well as Camp Jupiter. And when the time comes for her to choose, she chooses Camp Half-Blood and goes back to live with her moms once the summer is over. Reyna nearly cries with relief.

-Maybe Leo’s name worked. Maybe the prophecy won’t be of any relevance until they’ve all long passed, many generations down the line. But Em strays from the path that seemed so set for her. She’s free, in a way Reyna never was.

- so sweet and caring, he’d make a great dad, he’s always making sure they’re having a fun time (while still following the rules of course)

- he is gentle, but he isn’t a pushover either, and he does discipline them if it’s necessary.

- but he usually doesn’t need to do that because the kids love him and think he’s one of the coolest guys ever, even when we know he’s a fucking dork, but he’s cute so it’s fine.

- he loves spending time with kids, and he doesn’t mind the idea of being a parent if his spouse is wants to have them sometime.

- even when you get upset with your kid, larry is always patient with them and does his best to listen to their reasoning if they misbehave.

- whether they’re made organically or just built a child you decide, I don’t make any rules and nothing I say is canonical unless said otherwise 🤷

- I do think he has a sliiightly softer spot for kids, but it’s still not enough for them to not be scared of him.

- and it’s still not enough for him to not have larry give them a ticket for causing trouble at the park.

- it’s not so much his design as it is his voice that scares kids off, and he fears if he has a child with his spouse, they’ll fear him too.

- if Larry and his spouse had a child before him and his partner, he’d probably want to practice with their baby first just to get an idea of what parenting is like.

- he’s a pretty attentive dad and even if he doesn’t seem like the type to do so, he spoils his kid rotten. (to an extent ofc)

(also neither of them would really care if they get a son, daughter, etc., but either way they both look like girl dads and you can’t convince me otherwise. they just both have that sort of energy idk how to explain it.)

What was it like when OJV style first started dating? I’m rereading OJV for the 100th time and I live for early teen style fluff lmaoo them being dorks with each other makes me happy

Aaaaaaa my sweet awkward boys!!! Oh my goodness Stan just bumbling out a “dudeireallyloveyouandimgladyouredoingbetterholyshitdidijustsaythat” and Kyle laughing and saying he loves him too and then they’re texting all “wait does this mean we’re boyfriends now”. And when they tell their families everyone’s confused bc they thought they were already dating lmfao.

These poor babies had NO idea what to do at first, but it ended up being pretty similar to how they’d always acted, just with more hand holding and kissing (simps). OJV style was always pretty much attached at the hip, and that definitely doesn’t change when they start dating, it just results in more overthinking at first.

And ofc those codependent losers were always very give and take, Stan says those three little words first and Kyle considers it his responsibility to initiate the first kiss (day 4 of my Style Week fic those gay idiots kissin under the stars ugh I love them so bad) and they’re both trying SO hard. I will absolutely never apologize for Stan’s dorky ass deciding the best way to impress his boyfriend is to learn fucking ELVISH and what’s more it WORKS goddamn losers one of my favorite things in OJV canon tbh.

As for group dynamic when they get together, Cartman naturally says some shit like “whatever, as long as you too faglings don’t fuck up the broship” (yes Kyle punched him for that) like he’s not secretly over the moon bc Cartman is a shipper through and through. Kenny and Marj are super supportive to the point it’s embarrassing and Kenny ofc has to tease them relentlessly.

Now y’all know a very important thing to me about OrangeJuiceVerse style is the size difference, but they start dating freshman year and Stan is only like two inches taller than kyles 5’7 (little do they know Stanathan is gonna shoot up while Kyle’s done growing lmao angry short king) this makes kissing much easier since they’re on the same level, but come junior year when Stan hits that last growth spurt? Bro gets HUGE and Kyle is at first bothered (until he sees him sweaty and very Boy after practice hehe). Naturally this brings me to the Style Carry™️, which, in OJV canon, occurred for the first time ever in A Fall In The Springtime. And that was only because Kyle didn’t really have a choice and couldn’t say no to Stan’s knight in shining armor complex. Ngl I think that whole ordeal is what awakened Kyle’s pain kink bc being carried up the steps after being hurt in a basketball game was really sweet and Stan was just too doting and adorable. They’re both down horrendous.

Of course it’s crucial to me that they’re super best friends at the root of their romantic relationship. They still joke around, tease each other, act like typical teenage boys and get into shenanigans. They’ll hold each other’s hands after taking bets on who can build the tallest snowman though.

They grow up together, and thus do a lot of learning together. Stans only relationship experience is his childhood fling with Wendy, and Kyle’s relationships have never been more than a passing experiment. They figure it out together, with a lot of (often misguided) advice from the rest of the gang. Their parents probably aren’t any help, because the dads are pretty useless and their moms are overbearing to the point of frustration so they kind of wing it and do what feels natural. After all, super best boyfriends is really only a step up from super best friends, and no one will ever understand them the same

anyways.

this fic was such a Project with a capital P that there were so many scenes and little bits i thought of writing, but eventually scrapped for brevity even though we all know that’s not my strong suit. here’s a list of some of my notes under the read more because of spoilers, most of them are more recent because they’re fresher in my memory lol.

for clarity’s sake here’s how i hc it when i write about these characters being vtubers: the models on screen are a more polished or stylized lookalike of the person behind the screen, but without some of the details of the real person. so basically while vtuber!ike looks like how we all know him, the ike you interact with during the off-collab also has blue-tipped hair and gold earrings that match his glasses chain, but doesn’t wear the same thing daily, shows a full range of emotion, and has, ya kno, pores and freckles and all that instead of anime skin. they’re identical but in different art styles lol. (obligatory disclaimer that i’ve always written for the characters and not the real people working for nijisanji, and that we do not encourage unhealthy parasocial relationships here)

i wanted to hone in on the friends-to-lovers dynamic as much as possible by establishing friend moments before the actual meat of the romance during the off-collab. same with establishing pen and paper as a common in-universe ship. i’m a believer that including these scenes only strengthens the dynamic between mc and li, even if they aren’t necessarily about them interacting!

in the same way i wanted to establish the comfort of being in love with your best friend just as much as the worry. the outlast scene is really tense but i wanted to write it so the dialogue there could apply to anyone comparing themselves to others. same with the last two scenes. one of the elements i love most in hurt/comfort is that they can be like little affirmations even when the reader is completely different from the insert. reader and ike have a million different insecurities about themselves but they rarely see what the other is so worried about because it’s just another part to love. and when they do see it, they’re still there for each other even if it’s as simple as a weird photo or as big as pining

while we’re at it SHOUT OUT TO AIA, MIKA AND ALBAN FOR BEING THE REALEST MFS EVER i loved writing those three interacting with reader. they’re so funny sometimes. and when they’re not, they also serve as great sober advice. they all have different ways of getting you there—aia is the “soft” one but encourages you to get out of your comfort zone when she sees an easy way in and out, alban is the one that tells it to you straight and gives godly advice because of it, and because she’s close with both you and ike, mika does a lot of work behind the scenes encouraging you both. but at the end of the day no matter what your love life looks like, those three are there asap if you need them, regardless if they’re online or in-person

in the meanwhile vox, nina, and mika serve as ike’s close circle of friends and i think that’s beautiful lmao. i didn’t make those four’s relationship that explicit but i like to think of it as a family dynamic of sorts. vox and nina are the patient parent figures while mika is a younger sister type, and all of them also hype ike up like how aia, mika and alban hype you up

and speaking of vox i wanted to include him referring to ike as his work husband, and maybe a more serious one-on-one advice/shovel talk with reader about ike. this was one of those things that was tricky to place in the order of scenes, so it was eventually scrapped

honestly i think this fic is more about the power of friendship than the power of love lmao. it’s a love letter to friends that would drop everything for you regardless if they see you romantically or not, just as well to friends that want you to get every bit of happiness you deserve

you can probably tell how much of this fic is ruled by close friendships down to the kiss scene. reader is pretty clumsy with their feelings, and ike is even worse (though reader never notices because they’re so worried about themselves). i have this hc that for his first kisses, ike would always ask before he goes in, but if it weren’t for that this would’ve been one of those mutual go-for-it wordless kisses, you know what i mean? where everything feels right and even righter when you realize the other person is also leaning in

ESPECIALLY WHEN READER BUMPS IKE’S GLASSESSSSSSSS one of my favorite things in fic is when it’s not always picture perfect and people mess up! and then roll with it! things happen irl including being clumsy but those things tend to be the parts that make things special. i said what i said about reader and ike always being there for each other even when they’re insecure and i meant it. especially because the happiness is so contagious that reader smiles before kissing back and how they both take a laugh break before kissing even more

ren’s ukulele is also a personal touch. it’s not a very grand feeling to just zone out with your friends while one of them plays music, but it is one that i hope everyone experiences once. it really is comfortable, and if you have a friend that’s a bit of a smartass like ren? it gets funny too

when this fic was in development around early april if i remember correctly, ren did a karaoke stream with iris, which was the moment i realized that was the perfect song to describe the fic. i mention a bunch of other songs but iris is the “theme song”. it’s romantic and pretty and intimate, but with an ukulele and nina casually singing along, it fits the comfortable vibe well

wannabe by the spice girls was chosen for the recognizable goofy factor alone. i mentioned motionless in white, my first story and spiritbox mostly because i’ve heard ike mention them before on stream, but spiritbox gets a special shoutout here because i’m pretty sure they’re one of the only ike band recommendations i actually like (talluh too if you include the two songs i’ve listened to). toxicity gets mentioned because, uh… i was watching gavis bettel’s birthday karaoke when that happened and he was too blasted to do system of a down but that just stuck with me. i also have to admit i never actually listened to the emo holy trinity and only knew one mcr song from guitar hero but luckily it’s recognizable and it’s in a wide enough range that i think most people could sing it. ahhh i wish writing lyrics in fic wasn’t so clunky! i have such a picture in my mind of how reader and ike would sing the breakdown and onward

vox singing george strait is pure self-indulgence and i am begging us all to imagine handsome from the cowboy asmr singing christmas cookies. i have been thinking about this since october 2022

the final bonus scene is a neat bow to explain the important parts of the off-collab as well as ike’s real feelings. after all, the fic was written with limited pov and one of the major sources of tension is that ike’s feelings aren’t explicitly stated until the second confession (and the high-stress q&a stream). i wanted it to be so reflective and fond that it feels like a victory lap, and reaffirm what reader and ike’s relationship actually means to him even though he struggles with articulating it out loud

that final scene also had the most ideas that ended up scrapped. this includes but is not limited to: ike telling chat about the cafe with reader but without admitting it was a date, alban teasing ike in the chat, reader teasing ike in the chat, confirming that uki and ren going cafe-hopping was actually so they could playfully gossip about the sexual tension in this airbnb, actual descriptions of the photos reader took, confirming that ike or reader stole the other’s shirt (ike is a smaller guy so i wanted to keep it ambiguous for any reader body types), redirecting to reader’s stream, ike and alban actually talking about why alban knows so much (and him giving ike a shovel talk), and maybe most tragic of all; a forum-style text post scene where the delulu fans get it right for once and guess that reader and ike are in a secret relationship

i might write the delulu fan forum fic one day for fun but if i do then i’m going to call this little series “the pliskinverse” unironically and im that is not a fate i want to impose upon anyone

the word ~ verisimilitude ~ recently entered my vocabulary from a review of the candle cove creepypasta. it basically means when fiction seems authentic, like how a kind character would have polite manners or how an evil villain would laugh completely different than the hero. you could say an ooc fanfic would lack verisimilitude for example. anyways i bring this up because that creepypasta is formatted like a forum thread with distinct personalities between the posters... just like how i wanted the chatters to come across! i don't think it's subtle but i did write them all with different personalities and interests in mind. maybe for fun you can look through them and figure out what team they all play for, even though i'm awful at coming up with fake usernames

So you remember my trees right? And how I got several kinds instead of just wisteria? And how I got impatient and started germinating my Red Maple and Black Pine trees? well I planted them a bit ago AND THE FIRST ONE SPROUTED AND IM SO EXCITED I ACTUALLY FUCKING SQUEALED WHEN I GOT HOME FROM WORK AND SAW IT I WAS SO FUCKING HYPED LIKE GENUINELY SKIPPING AROUND AND SMILING LIKE A GOOF

So its one of the Black Pine seeds I planted and they’re so pretty already, like I’ve been so down and stressed lately but when I tell you that all immediately melted away when I saw that seedlings I MEAN IT IM SO HAPPY

I was really worried they wouldn’t sprout because the seeds didn’t show up in the best condition, but I was so relieved to see at least one did, I’ll give the others some more time before losing hope.

I did plant my Red Maple seeds before I planted the others so I’m more worried about them, they’re supposed to turn white once they’re done germinating but only a few did, plus before that I was supposed to rub the outer coat off of the seeds, which I did, but I’m scared I might been too rough with them :,))

But that doesn’t matter as much because at least one sprouted IM SO HAPPY THAT AT LEAST ONE SPROUTED.

OH MY GOD AND I FOUND OUT THERES A SEED LIBRARY NEAR WHERE I LIVE WHERE THEY GIVE OUT SEEDS FOR DIFFERENT PLANTS FOR FREE.

It’s taking every ounce of self control I have not to go over there and grab everything, I need to wait until I have more space, but it’s just so exciting, I think I’m gonna try my garden again once winters over, I’ll use the tips you gave me to keep the squirrels and rabbits away, and I’m gonna go for even more flowers this time!!

Sigh like I’m so stupidly giddy about all of this, I don’t talk about it enough but I really do love plants so much, I envy you, getting to work in a flower shop, that sounds so amazing.

And as much as I love winter and it being colder I can’t wait to be back to gardening, I think I’ll try and plant something that reminds me of you, like a few sunflowers.

Since I’m officially done with the main guides to Stray Kids, I figured I’d do a couple fun guides, just for, well, fun. I wanted to start off with the dynamics between the boys. I’ve already talked about the three main rachas (3Racha, Danceracha, Vocalracha), but I thought it would be fun to talk a little about each friendship. (If you want to see even more about them, I’m going to have a playlist related to each post, and I currently have an ongoing dynamics series going on!) (There is 28 different pairings in this group, so they have to be broken up into multiple posts, lmao)

This post contains the following dynamics: Bang Chan and Changbin; Bang Chan and I.N.; Lee Know and I.N.; Changbin and Han; Changbin and Seungmin; Hyunjin and Felix; and Hyunjin and Seungmin.

*Sort of a disclaimer: Each pairing will have a little nickname/identifier attached to them. Most of them come from stays themselves, whether directly or indirectly, but some of them I kind of had to create on my own. They may not be super creative, but it is what it is, lmao.

Bang Chan and Changbin - ‘gym buddies’

like I mentioned in the bit about lee know and chan, both him and changbin are considered chan’s right and left hands. Much like lee know, changbin helps chan out a lot with the younger members.

even though these two didn’t meet until they were trainees, they always give me ‘friends since childhood’ vibes. there’s something about them that just clicks and seems comfortable, but they’re not super in your face with it. you can just tell they’re very close.

there is a lot of talk about soulmates within the group (or even the group as a whole, which is valid, honestly), but i don’t see it a lot with these two and i wish i did. i definitely think changbin and chan were meant to find each other.

they’re both extremely hardworking and reliable and kind of give off similar vibes sometimes

but they’re also huge dorks

arguably get teased the most out of the whole group, but don’t seem to mind. changbin has even stated he likes when the other members tease him and chan has said, very recently in fact, that if the teasing bothered him, he’d let the other boys know and they would stop.

Bang Chan and I.N. - “father and son”

the oldest and youngest member, respectively

i wasn’t really sure what to have as their nickname, but i’ve seen this dynamic joked about a couple times and i thought it was funny

chan clearly adores I.N., and dotes on him. he’s constantly being affectionate with him and cuddling up to him

although it doesn’t really seem to be i.n.’s thing, he usually just let’s chan be all loving, lol. but he’s definitely one of the ones who teases chan the most, after seungmin.

i mentioned this in the previous post, but during an episode of the 9th, i.n. wrote a letter to chan because he was thankful for his help when he was a trainee. he’s also stated, although i can’t remember where exactly, that without chan’s help, he wouldn’t have debuted.

i.n. is actually the third member to join the group, after chan and han (or the second to be chosen by Chan, depending on how you look at it), at least that’s what i’ve seen. he would have been pretty young when he was chosen, so chan must have definitely seen tons of potential in him

Lee Know and I.N. - ‘the savage duo’

Seungmin is also part of the savage line, but him and Lee Know have a different dynamic nickname, you’ll see (i mention seungmin and lee know a lot. you’ll see why). these two are quick to tease and roast their fellow members at all times

but lee know is soft for i.n., don’t let him fool you. he’s soft for a lot of the younger members, just in different ways. with i.n., it almost seems like more of a older brother/mentor kind of soft.

they did a couple covers together on their manic tour and their voices sound so wonderful together. i linked my personal favorite in lee know’s post, but here’s a funnier one (but still good! mostly funny because it’s unexpected)

they have such a great chemistry on stage together, and it’s clear that it comes from a place of great affection and respect (the whole group has it, for sure, of course)

this is a small thing, but not too long ago, the boys had to fly somewhere (i can’t remember where, at this point) without lee know, and i.n. took a photo of lee know to the airport with them and held it up, lol. it was a very cute moment

i’m not gonna lie, i got these two confused when i first started looking into the group, for the first couple days.

Changbin and Han - ‘the chaotic duo’

Not sure if anyone else sees them like that, but these two just give off very chaotic vibes to me

a lot of the reality type stuff they put out, if these two come together, there’s bound to me something crazy happening

i’d say han is one of the ones that teases changbin the most, but as i mentioned before, changbin has stated he doesn’t mind this. however, some fans believe he takes it too far. i have my own thoughts on this, but because changbin has openly said he doesn’t mind (and chan said if one of them did have an issue, they would discuss it and the teasing would stop), i think it’s not up to us to determine if changbin should be upset (although, whether fans should feel upset about the namecalling is a different story, and not one I want to get into)

changbin once stated that he thinks about han the most out of the other members and worries about him, as he doesn’t want him to be sad. he’s also stated, in their 2 kids room episode, he’s jealous of han’s stage presence and the facial expressions and gestures that he does on stage.

in that same episode, han openly calls changbin a genius and how he’s jealous of his ideas and how he writes songs

despite being absolute chaos, these boys have such a great respect for each other and care about each other a lot

Changbin and Seungmin - ‘Tom and Jerry’

a lot closer than you’d expect

i say that because when i first got into the group, i didn’t even realize it, but as i’ve learned more about them and consumed more content, it becomes very obvious that these two are very close off screen

i’d even argue that they bring each other some kind of comfort, in a way

but the nickname still fits because seungmin never misses a chance to tease or roast changbin

one of the ‘hand holding’ duos. it’s honestly mainly changbin duos that you find this (but not just his, lol). one of his love languages must be holding hands

they also cuddle up to each other a lot and there’s tons of clips, especially lately, of seungmin sitting on changbin’s lap or being close to him. it seems like physical affection is a big thing for changbin, so you’ll see that a lot in some of his dynamics

changbin stated during their 2 kids room episode that he got so emotional watching seungmin sing (during kingdom) that he actually cried. in the same episode, seungmin stated that he can do anything with changbin at his side. these two have such great love and respect for each other, it makes me emotional

Hyunjin and Felix - “soft boys”

but to me, they are just two very pretty and soft boys

much like lee know and felix, they’re just differing levels of soft

felix has this really wonderful and emotional little speech he does in their 2 kids room episode, about hyunjin, but a standout line would definitely be him saying that he is who he is because of hyunjin

hyunjin may not be as vocal about it as felix. but he clearly loves and respects him a lot.

these two did a couple of tik tok lives not too long ago and they were soft and adorable and playing emotional music, something they clearly bond over

i’d also argue that they’re the sassy duo, they give such sassy expressions, i love it

the two that tend to bring in a lot of fans, if i’m not mistaken. a lot of people have said they knew of felix before they knew about stray kids.

if you watch they’re 2 kids room episode, it’s literally just 15 minutes of hyunjin talking about how wonderful and talented seungmin is, as well as stating openly that ‘seungmin is my bias’

but don’t be mistaken. seungmin is just as fond of hyunjin, just not quite as vocal as hyunjin is. he’s openly stated that they’re a support system for each other and are always there for each other. he clearly loves hyunjin very much

He feels guilty about it but Stan’s a good looking kid, he knows his best friend would never do that to him which is why he feels guilty. He trust Kenny too of course, and he’s thankful he at least keeps his face covered most of the time but under that parka is a attractive guy.

I like that Deku implies that his power is being a smart nerd who battles villains using the power of ANALYTICS. he basically didn’t do anything except restrain Muscular and wait for Shindou’s attack to take effect while halfheartedly checking to see if he regretted any of that murder and stuff

note: this is a rewrite and repost of my old roommates au, there was some stuff I wanted to change, and I wanted to make the parts a little longer, so yeah, ta-dah! 

- think modern setting in the canon universe, bending is still a thing 

- the Gaang are all in going to Ba Sing Se University 

- I’m gonna change the ages a bit to make it easier for myself, sorry 

- Zuko, Sokka, Suki and Mai are 20, Katara, Ty Lee and Azula are 19, Aang, Toph and Yue are 18

- so, Zuko, Sokka, Katara, Aang and Toph end up living together in a big loft type apartment 

- Sokka and Aang are old best friends, they met Toph in Middle School, and Katara is a natural part of the group 

- until now Sokka and Katara have both been living in the dorms, and they both hate it intensely 

- but now that Aang and Toph are also in uni, they all decide to move in together!

- …but the only problem is that the only place they find that they like is just out of their price rage (Toph’s parents aren’t supportive of her major so they’re not helping out much)

- enter: ~ Zuko ~

- so, Zuko has been living with his uncle Iroh since his Father, who’s a high up in some big and important company the Fire Nation, disowned him for speaking up against the company’s shifty treatment of workers and ruining a lot of sacred land etc 

- they’re still firebenders and the scar still happened, not in an Agni Kai, but it happened 

- but after Zuko started uni, Iroh really tried to push him to meet some people his own age and make some friends

- the only people Zuko talks to on the regular besides Iroh is Azula, Ty Lee and Mai, and Mai is the only one who is like, his friend yanno?

- the last year the deal was that if Zuko didn’t branch out, Iroh would have him live one year with other students

- it’s his idea of tough love 

- Zuko tried to do some random kid’s homework to have them pretend to be his new friend in front of Iroh so he wouldn’t have to, but Iroh can tell he’s lying so easily 

- so, Zuko ends up hearing about the Gaang through Mai, who heard from Ty Lee, who plays field hockey, Suki, who’s best friends with Sokka

- so, he goes to meet them, and it’s so awkward mY GOD

- Katara is a B I G environmental activist and HATES Ozai and his company, with good reason

- she eases up a tad when Zuko admits to being turned away from as a teen, but she is still suspicious

- Aang loves him right away, ofc, and that makes Katara even more suspicious because she’s pretty protective of Aang

- she claims it’s because he’s so kind and believes everyone but she totally liikeees hiiiim

- Toph is just like, sure, as long as he pays his rent idgaf

- Sokka is weirdly quiet, because he’s had a huge crush on Zuko forever, and the only one who knows is Aang (and Toph but she ain’t no snitch)

- so, ya boy makes the cut, and before they know it, it’s move-in day!

- but, the idiots didn’t think through the facts that it’s only three bedrooms oops

- and Toph is NOT afraid to pull the “I’m blind and I need my space” card

- and nobody’s up to fight her on it, so 

- let’s just say there is A LOT of back and forth, but with Katara refusing to room with her brother again, and Zuko being rightfully scared of Katara, it ends up with Zuko and Sokka sharing a bedroom, and Katara and Aang

- they have separate beds ofc

- but still, tension, man, so much tension

- it takes a while, but the dynamics starts working out really well

- Zuko is good at grocery shopping and likes to clean, and Aang is always happy to help him out

- Sokka loves cooking, so he does that a lot

- Katara is always on top of the others with schoolwork and making sure everyone is okay, and she usually does it in genius, sneaky ways so people doesn’t even notice that she does it

- Toph is clearing the air off bullshit

- like, she will call a bitch out

- but because she cares about said bitch

- so, Aang knows that Sokka has a crush on Zuko because Sokka told him in a weak moment, and Toph knows because she just knows

- Aang is a good friend tho, and he tries to like, ease them together

- but he is so awkward about it, the poor thing, and Zuko doesn’t understand AT ALL

- Toph is just sitting back and sighing a lot

- Katara doesn’t understand either but she just stays out of it (smart girl)

- but okay, we know how oblivious Zuko can be right?

- Sokka can give him googly eyes and blush and stutter around him so much and he still has no clue at all

- Zuko starts thinking Sokka just doesn’t like him at all

- but then one night Zuko has this really intense nightmare

- okay and quick addition, his scar is… handshaped? Like, you can clearly tell what happened to him

- but nobody talks about it, yet

- but then he’s having a terrible nightmare and is talking and begging and pleading in his sleep

- so much that Sokka wakes up

- and he catches on pretty fast, but had no idea what to do

- so he just shuffles over to Zuko’s side of the room and starts tapping his shoulder rapidly

- but nothing happens

- so he just… gently and awkwardly pats his head until Zuko wakes up

- and Zuko is like… wat u doin there bro

- and Sokka is like… just patting ur head to wake you from a nightmare bro

- and they awkwardly just mumble and go back to their beds

- but Zuko is smiling a lot because someone who’s not his family or a family friend really cares about him

- after that, Zuko slowly starts opening up to all of them, but Sokka especially 

- he never really tells them about being cast out and burned tho

- until one day he kinda casually slings it into a convo all fast and awkwardly

- it’s just Toph, Aang and Sokka there

- Toph yells so WHAATTT so loudly and just metalbends the whole fridge into a clump in rage

- Aang cries lmao but he tries to hide to and be supportive and not awkward

- Sokka is kinda quiet, but he carefully asks about it that night when they’re in their beds, and they talk a little about it

- Aang tells Katara (with permission) and she awkwardly, but wholeheartedly tells him that he can always talk to her

- they do that «awkward sibling hug» from Gravity Falls after

- *hugs stiffly* «pat, pat»

- but okay, Toph and metalbending when angry, it happens quite a lot 

- this was the first time it was the fridge, but the toaster, the microwave, and several other appliances have met the same fate

- everyone is kinda used to it now, and she always replaces it

- except Zuko, who’s still kinda new to them all

- but what are you supposed to say when your new friends is so outraged by the abuse you went through that they crush a whole ass fridge?

- it actually reminds him that he’s cared for here, by these people who owe him nothing, and is not related to him, and it makes him a little dizzy to have people care this way

- he casually mentions it to his Uncle Iroh the time he’s in at work, that his new friend is a metalbender and squashed their whole fridge when she was pissed on his behalf

- Iroh is thrilled

- to the point of offering Toph a job lmao

- Toph, desperate to cut of as much ties with her family and be as self-sufficient as possible, agrees

- and now Iroh have two formerly rich kids with no clue about any sort of customer service and basic stuff like that working for him

- Toph is a hard worker tho, and she and Zuko work surprisingly well together

- Katara is a little relived, because the more those two work, the less are the chances of either of them trying to cook or do too many chores around their apartment

- they mean well, or, Zuko does, but he does so much dumb shit when trying to help lmao

- Sokka starts spending a lot of time over at The Jasmine Drago too

- Aang is still trying to keep the fact that Sokka likes Zuko a secret, but he is having trouble

- Katara is his biggest weakness, and now they’re suddenly alone with her a lot

- someone else who could always read Sokka really well is Suki

. whom he used date in high school, but they parted as friends and everything s cool

- but Sokka is a little taken aback when she comes into The Jasmine Dragon one day, hand in hand with Sokka’s childhood crush obsession, Yue

- for the first time in man’s memory, Sokka is a little speechless

- and Suki’s like “lmao dude I haven’t seen you like this since the first time you saw Zu-”

- cue Zuko popping out behind them like “WELCOME TO THE JASMINE DRAGON FRIENDS OF SOKKA :D”

- Sokka is so fucking red, poor boy is just about having an aneurism at this point

- but luckily something happens and Zuko gets distracted

- Suki is having the time of her life tho, Sokka always used to tease her for her crushes before and after they dated, and suddenly, here they are

- at the apartment, Aang decides they need some apartment traditions

- they’ve been living there for almost three months, after all

- so he decides that weekly movie nights are mandatory

- so are pillowforts

- Katara is actually really excited for it, she loves all things cozy and fall-like

- also… she is weak for Aang, y’all, and she loves seeing him all excited

- Zuko barely knows what a pillowfort is, he didn’t think real people actually made it

- but imagine these dorks in a pillowfort with hot chocolate and lot’s of pillows

- Toph claims that she thinks it’s soo dumb, but she will always make sit in the middle of the group all wrapped in her blanket and laughing when the others jump and get spooked from the horror movies Sokka always wants to watch

- and she will make sure the fort is right and perfect lmao

- Zuko is a little awkward about it at first, but he likes it too

- Sokka always manages to plop in next to Zuko lmao

- they haven’t talked about the head patting incident yet, but Zuko is def starting to feel the butterflies

- one time after a movie night Sokka falls asleep on Zuko’s shoulder, after the others have left for the night

- Zuko can’t resist waking him up with awkward head pats similar to the one Sokka used on him

- Sokka thinks he died and went to heaven lmao

- but then he fully wakes and sees Zuko’s shit eating grin and can’t help but laugh at the whole thing

- and Zuko has his “oh no he’s hot beautiful and I really adore him” moment

A/N: dani bless u for requesting this one fjdfjsjkfnj there is a severe lack of beyond the boundary fics and i intend to FIX IT!!! i love these dorks and, funnily enough, i actually only watched this show because i read a tk fic with these two FJKJKS so im going back to my roots with this one ig LMAO anyways i hope everyone enjoys! :D i also didn’t proofread bc im feeling lazy today but i hope its still okay LOL

Summary: Hiroomi and Akihito are going back and forth on what kind of glasses would best suit Mirai when Hiroomi’s hands get a little cold.

“Akkey~”

Akihito jumped when he felt two cold hands creep up under his arms, jolting away as he smacked Hiroomi’s shoulder.

“Would you stop that??”

“But Akkey, you know that my hands are always so cold. And you warm them up so nicely~” Hiroomi drawled, reaching for Akihito’s armpits again as Akihito jumped away, hissing.

“The girls are gonna be here soon, can you just leave it?”

Hiroomi pouted, pulling his hands back and folding his arms across his chest, about to say something else when the door to the literature club opened. Akihito glanced over with relief to see Mitsuki and Mirai walk in, both of them holding lollipops.

“Did you bring some candy for us too?” Akihito said, a small smile on his face as he walked over to Mirai, helping her with her bag. Mitsuki chuckled.

“Oh, of course not.”

Akihito huffed, setting Mirai’s bag down near the bonsai as Mirai sat down, sticking the lollipop in her mouth. Her glasses slipped down her nose slightly and she went to readjust them, making Akihito’s heart throb.

“Mirai, your glasses look stunning today,” He said earnestly, and Mirai flushed. Hiroomi smirked.

“I think that she’d look better with a frameless pair,” Hiroomi said, only to mess with Akihito, who immediately turned to him.

“They wouldn’t frame her face properly. Frameless glasses wouldn’t flatter her as well as a full-frame pair like the one she has now. That said, the red plays with the tone of her hair almost too well, so perhaps a pair of brown - oh, or maybe a wood texture…” Akihito started to drag on, boring Mitsuki and Mirai, but Hiroomi listened with a strange fascination that could only be shared because of his own weirdness.

“What about a half-rim then?” Hiroomi suggested, and Akihito slammed his fist in his palm, whipping around to Hiroomi.

“That would look great on Mirai, actually! Seems like you’re good for something other than sticking your hands where they don’t belong,” Akihito said, turning back to Mirai as she pulled a book off the shelf of the literature club’s shelves. 

“Oh? And what’s that supposed to mean?” Hiroomi said, creeping up behind Akihito and shoving his hands back under his arms. Akihito jolted, trying to shake him off as Mirai watched, flustered.

“You’re both being unpleasant!” She yelped, moving out of the way as Mitsuki laughed brightly.

“Oh boy, they’re at it again. Hasn’t Akihito told you why he hates you putting your hands there?”

“Mitsuki, shut up!” Akihito said, strained as he tried to shove at Hiroomi while keeping his arms down. Hiroomi hummed at him, curiosity dancing along his voice. 

“Are you keeping secrets from me, Akkey? I thought we were friends,” Hiroomi said, placing his chin on Akihito’s shoulder, making him squirm.

“I’m not! Come on, Mirai, back me up!”

“Is Mitsuki talking about the fact that you’re ticklish?” Mirai said innocently, lollipop in her hand as the whole room froze, everyone staring at Akihito. Nobody moved or spoke, like Mirai’s words had shattered time until Hiroomi chuckled softly.

“Ohh, I see~” He said, a smirk creeping up his face as Akihito felt a cold sweat build up on his back, not sure if it was just Hiroomi’s abnormally cold body temperature or fear. Mitsuki covered her lips with her hand to hide an amused grin, Mirai watching with confusion, completely unaware of how she had just sealed Akihito’s doom.

Mitsuki took Mirai’s hand and guided her towards the door of the literature club. “You already watered your bonsais right? Let’s go shopping, I think it’s gonna get loud in a few seconds,” Mitsuki said, her tone teasing as Akihito squeaked when Hiroomi lightly wiggled his fingers.

“D-Don’t leave me! Hey, you guys-” Akihito was cut off by the door to the literature club shutting, leaving him alone again with Hiroomi, who knew a little more than he did before.

“So, we’ve known each other for how long, Akkey? When were you planning on telling me?”

“Never!” Akihito said, shoving at Hiroomi, who held firm onto him. He clicked his tongue, dancing his fingers lightly as Akihito huffed, already feeling tingles spread across him. Hiroomi hummed, starting to curl his fingers slightly, scribbling them around as Akihito doubled over, gripping the edge of the literature club’s table as he squirmed.

“D-Dohon’t!” Akihito exclaimed, trying to shake Hiroomi off and contain his laughter, which was already proving unsuccessful.

“Why not? You’ve kept it from me for so long, I might as well make up for lost time,” Hiroomi teased, his light scribbles quickly digging in a bit more, making Akihito shriek before dissolving into immediate cackles, shaking his head as Hiroomi smiled widely.

“Heh, Mirai wasn’t kidding, huh?”

“Shuhuhut up! Leheheave me alone!” Akihito whined through his laughter, squealing when Hiroomi curled his fingers slightly, scratching at Akihito’s underarms.

“I wonder if you’re ticklish anywhere else…” Hiroomi pondered aloud, moving his hands down to Akihito’s ribs. He yelped, throwing his head back as Hiroomi continued to hold him up, smiling softly at his friend’s reactions.

“My my, how come I never knew about this?” Hiroomi teased, and Akihito shook his head, squirming as Hiroomi wiggled his fingers against his lower ribs.

“Yohohou didn’t neeheeheed to!” Akihito wailed. His knees gave out and he crumpled down, still holding onto the table as Hiroomi smirked. 

He pulled his hands away for a moment and Akihito immediately went to catch his breath, only to screech when Hiroomi dug his hands back under Akihito’s arms, immediately clamping his arms down. When he let go of the table he lost his balance and fell to his side, Hiroomi following him and using both hands to dig into his armpits.

“HAhaha! Ohohoho gohod, not thehehehere!”

“But Akkey~” Hiroomi cooed, avoiding Akihito’s flailing forearms as he traced his hands down to his stomach, scribbling his fingers across Akihito’s tummy. “I want to see just how ticklish you are.”

Akihito flushed and grabbed onto Hiroomi’s hands, trying to pry them away from his stomach as they skittered around, tracing the sides and then closing in on his hips, scratching lightly at the dip.

Akihito rolled around, trying to avoid Hiroomi’s tickly hands, but they were stuck on him like glue as they sent ticklish sensations all over him, driving him crazy as his laughter finally started to hiccup slightly.

Hiroomi took that as a cue to stop and slowed his fingers, pulling away and sitting next to Akihito as he crossed his arms, waiting for his friend to recover.

“Thahat was unpleasant,” Akihito said softly, still giggling slightly from the tickle attack.

“You’re starting to sound like your girlfriend,” Hiroomi said with a chuckle, laughing when Akihito jolted up and shoved him, blushing.

“She’s not my girlfriend!”

Hiroomi stood, helping Akihito up with a smile as he held back another comment. Akihito brushed himself off, freezing up when Hiroomi stuffed his hands under his arms again. Hiroomi chuckled.

“I won’t tickle you again. I just need to warm my hands a little,” He hummed, and Akihito grumbled.

a lottt of other obvious factors aside blair and chip whiskers honestly just aren’t my kind of ship. in so many ways they’re actually quite boring to me? like my god how many dramatic love proclamations can you have in one season lmao. dair is meanwhile is genuinely fun. the banter, the two of them both being such pretentious dorks, etc. there’s such a lightness to them and a lightness to blair in his company. i think you once said that chair in season 1 has some appeal compared to later seasons because blair is in control and has the power so to speak. come season 2, i lost count of how many times i almost rolled my eyes into the back of my head. even taking away chip being who he is and how he treats her, they’re just so dull in my eyes. we get it you two can’t be together for insert convoluted reason but you’re going to continue to pine after each other and dramatically declare your love every other episode!

ha. yeah. obvious factors aside, the writing for blair waldorf and chip wiskers has a serious case of what I would like to call Trying Too Hard Syndrome. the writers were working SO hard to sell the "fated lovers" narrative that the dialogue just comes out stilted and ridiculous. No specific examples come to mind right now, but I'm sure the Mutuals [Most Affectionate] will have some locked and loaded, but like, nobody talks like that.

blair and dan's relationship, in contrast, happens almost by accident? the writer's weren't trying as hard to sell the Romance, so the dialogue comes off much better. And, I'm tempted to say, there's the added benefit of Badgley and Meester--arguably the best actors in the cast--just playing off of each other. Don't get me wrong, good, strong writing is a very important component of good performed media (why do you think we're always ranting about it?) but an aspect of good writing--especially in TV when you know mostly who you're writing for--is knowing when and how to not get in the performer's way. I'm thinking right now of Mike Schur (one of my favorite sitcom writers) and of Ted Lasso & Schitt's Creek (probs two of the best written television shows ever), and how they do so well because they have that symbiosis between what begins on paper and what ends up on camera. GG never really achieved that with chair, mostly because the had written themselves into a narrative corner, and rather than follow the path the characters were seeming to take. I think it was @insistonyourcupofstars that recc'd this meta analysis to me that I read recently, which puts it very well:

they [the showrunners/writers] kept a death grip on the endgame [derena & chair], and so they bent plots and the characters like pretzels to make it happen.
