The men of the council, along with Rhaenyra, all sighed in unison. The True Queen had suggested a dragonrider to fly near King’s Landing and scout the area, and you immediately suggested yourself. The argument had lasted a total of ten minutes so far.

“Moondancer is a much more discreet flyer-“

“I really don’t care about being discreet, and neither should any of you. If you want to know what the Green Army is up to, send me. You know I’m the most capable here. My dragon is quick, as am I. I’m going.”

“It is not safe,” Jacaerys said from his position standing beside you, his voice low as if he was trying to calm you down and bargain with you.

“I appreciate your concern, truly,” you responded, turning to address the council again, “but I’m going. Do any of the men on this council dare to contest? You may do so on dragonback, if you say yes.”

The council looked around at one another, and no one said a word. You smiled triumphantly.

When the meeting ended, you began to exit the room, Jacaerys hot on your heels.

“You know this is not safe,” he spoke, catching up to your side, “what are you thinking?”

You stopped in your tracks. “I will not engage, as I told your mother. What could possibly be the harm? Besides, any harm they try to inflict upon me will only in turn befall them.“

“You are too angry over Lucerys to do this,” Jacaerys said, fighting to stay in your eye line as you threw your head backward in frustration and annoyance.

“And you are not?”

Jacaerys had also suggested himself to go, but did not contest for a second when his mother said no.

“I am more level-headed than you.”

“And that is perhaps your least fun trait,” you responded, standing your ground.

“Will you please just promise you will be cautious?” he pleaded, taking your hands in his.

You rested your forehead against his, taking a deep breath. “Only because you wish it so.”

Jacaerys smiled, tilting his head upward to give you a soft kiss. He remained with you until he saw you off, watching your dragon take flight as you disappeared into the horizon.

You paid intent attention to movements beneath the treetops for the better part of three hours, scanning every inch of ground you could see. Finally, you spotted the shine of silver armor in the distance.

You smiled to yourself and flew even closer to the ground, swirling around the group of men as a warning. Upon closer inspection, you saw Aegon’s Hand, and Lord Commander of The King’s Guard, Ser Criston Cole. Seeing such a prominent face from The Greens alongside an army of men fighting to keep Aegon on the throne, despite everything it had already cost, set something ablaze within you.

Do not engage. The words from your queen rang in your ears, but you could not help it. Jacaerys was right, you were angry, and you were impulsive. Every Targaryen was made of fire, but yours tended to burn hotter than most.

“Fuck it,” you muttered to yourself, commanding your dragon to fly even closer to the ground, nearly knocking some of the men over from the wind gust of her wings.

“Dracarys!” you shouted, watching as your dragon opened her mouth, fueling before spitting fire across the entire field, drowning your enemies in flames.

You watched the men fall, scream, run in terror, and all eventually give up as you commanded your dragon to retreat, flying back to Dragonstone. You had done your part, and you were happy with it.

You decided halfway along your journey home to stay in the sky, enjoying the warm air of the breeze that hit your face. Your dragon enjoyed herself, flying in circular dives and grazing her wing against any large enough open body of water. You did not want to return before the news reached Rhaenyra. You wanted her to know, and you wanted to let it marinate before she saw you again. She needed time to calm down.

Come nightfall, you had reached Dragonstone. The moment you dismounted your dragon’s saddle, Jacaerys stomped toward you.

“Gods, what were you thinking? You promised me you would be cautious,” he bellowed.

“I was cautious,” you replied nonchalantly.

“You were careless,” he spoke, matter-of-factly.

“Ouch, Jace,” you responded, beginning to walk, “I was not careless. I was rather deliberate, I dare say.”

“Why would you do such a thing when my mother specifically asked you not to?”

You sighed. “She is not my mother.”

“She is your queen.”

“The only person in this realm who’s desires and opinions matter to me, is you. Now, are you truly mad at me, or is this an extension of your mother?”

Jacaerys took a deep breath. “I was worried. I just cannot understand why you would endanger yourself, why you would do against your queen’s wishes, why you would-“

“They murdered Luc, Jace.”

You exchanged a glance, understanding emanating from one another’s eyes. Though Lucerys was not related to you by blood, you still felt the sharp dagger of pain that followed his death, and your heart ached for his brother, who was handling it better, but perhaps in even more pain than you.

A tear escaped onto Jacaerys’s cheek. “The doubt that the one responsible would ride horseback with an army of men fighting for his brother’s claim.”

“Aemond is lucky for his absence. I would have done much worse had he been present.”

Jacaerys sighed. “You know you must face my mother at some point.”

“She does not scare me,” you responded, holding Jacaerys’s hand as you entered the castle.

A member of Rhaenyra’s guard approached you as soon as you entered a corridor. “The Queen requests your presence in the council room, My Lady.”

You smiled. “I would expect nothing less.”

When you entered the council room, you saw that Rhaenyra called the council to convene, but no one was seated or professional. Everyone was scattered around the room in whispers.

Rhaenyra turned toward the sound of the grand door swinging shut behind your confident frame.

“What were you thinking?” she spat.

You shrugged your shoulders. “I was thinking that Criston Cole would look better burnt to a crisp. Hotter, at least,” you jested, and Jacaerys snickered behind you. His mother’s features remained stoic.

“You had no right. You were under my orders to remain high and to not engage. What would persuade you to so blatantly disobey your queen?”

You sat down in one of the chairs, propping your feet up on the table. “Do you mean to speak that they did not deserve it?”

The men in the room turned their attention to Rhaenyra, who was taken aback by your question.

“There is a method in which we must handle these things,” she spoke, trying to breathe through her words and keep calm, “I understand that you clearly do not understand strategy, or politics, but you cannot simply go around on your dragon and do whatever it is that you wish. Do you hold no retrospective contempt toward your actions? No regret?”

“Regret?” you spat, slamming your feet down on the floor and standing so abruptly that the chair scraped backward against the floor.

“No, Your Grace, I do not regret my actions. Those fucking cunts are responsible for the death of your son. Your son. Or have you forgotten? I merely did what should have been done the moment Vhagar shut her jaw. What I did was for you. What I did was for Jacaerys. Most importantly, what I did was for Lucerys. It was about fucking time that someone did something! So no, I do not regret my actions.”

You huffed, nearly losing your breath from your intense rant. You calmed down and sat back in the chair, nostrils flaring as you glared at Rhaenyra.

“I understand your frustrations, believe me,” she spoke, “but you cannot just do as you wish, not when you act as an extension of my cause. Do you understand?”

“I am not an extension of your cause, Your Grace, I am my own cause,” you spoke, beginning to leave the room. When you reached the door, you pivoted, turning back to her. “I apologize that this has caused you strife. But I do not apologize for what I did. I simply gave them a peek of what is to come.”

You left the room, and you could hear Jacaerys running to catch up to you.

“What is it, Jace?” you sighed, turning around to watch his final few steps as he finally reached you.

Jace stilled himself. “Thank you.”

You furrowed your brows in confusion. “For?”

“For sticking up for myself and my brother when even I cannot.”

You smiled, finally calming down and pulling Jacaerys into a hug. When he pulled away, it was only to hold your face in his hands and kiss you, his favorite way of thanking you.

“If you like it when I burn people for you, I have an entire list of worthy individuals.”

Jacaerys giggled. “I don’t want to picture burning men when I’m kissing you.”

You shrugged. “Sorry, too late.”

Cotag actually breaks my fucking heart knowing the reality of their relationship and the fact that they could never be able to truly love each other.

1. Their workplace literally steals their mind, body, and soul so they can just become machines that don’t think of or take interest in anything else.

2. It’s the 1970s and they’re both guys; being gay wasn’t allowed anywhere back then.

[Keep in mind some of this is my own interpretations, but it still goes off canon)

Normal Guy literally tells Protag this when he tells him that Coworker was a great help and they got along well.

He gets frustrated by this fact and worries that Coworker is a distraction for Protag. He doesn’t want them to form a relationship of any kind because it would distract them from their work. Immediately after Normal Guy tells him that, he goes on to ask this:

Maybe I’m reaching right now because this question comes up no matter what, but for this it’s important. There’s multiple reasons and aspects as to why he asked this question, but one of them could be the fact that if Protag did feel anything around Coworker, then Normal Guy would know. It’s hard to explain, but think about a racing heart for example. People’s heart rate increases when they’ve infatuated by somebody, and when they see that person do even the tiniest things it makes them flustered. If they become nervous around that person, their breathing may become weird; which is why it brings us to this question. If Normal Guy finds an abnormality in Protag’s body that would prevent him from working, he would wanna know the reason, and if that reason is Coworker, then it pushes him to think their relationship is even more of a distraction to the both of them.

Normal Guy wants all his employees to dedicate their entire lives to the company. He doesn’t want them forming any sort of relationship that’s not entirely business related. If Protag’s heart is in something else, then that would create a multitude of problems. Not even his organs belong to him anymore, so neither of them even get the option to be together fully.

I think it’s also important to note that if you do choose the option to tell Normal Guy that Protag and Coworker did get along, this can lead you to get the bad ending where he literally erases Protag’s entire identity and makes him a different person. It’s wrong for them to be together no matter the circumstance, and their entire lives would be erased, along with their original relationship.

However, if the company did allow them to have a full on relationship, it wouldn’t have worked anyways. They’d be a gay couple in the 1970s, and homophobia was not only rampant back then but it was illegal. People would get arrested, sent to conversion therapy, or even lobotomized for being homosexual.

I’ve been wanting to talk about this for a LONG time, and this is also what pushed me to write “I wish you were born a girl” (yes hi I’m destroymeiloveyou on ao3 I’m exposing my identity for a moment here and if you don’t know wtf I’m talking about then ignore this).

They could be together in private theoretically, but with them being gay and also working at a company that doesn’t even want their employees to have a life outside of work, it’d be near impossible. Both of them would be at a constant risk of losing everything. Although, they already have given up so much for their work, would it even be worth it?

Coworker is already a closeted person with his feelings and such. He puts up a narcissistic front because of how insecure he is. His title means everything to him because he doesn’t have much else. It gives him a sense of security, and he wants somebody else to recognize that because he wants to feel loved. That’s a whole other analysis for later, but taking this into account with everything else, would he be willing to give up the little that he has to give him security for a relationship that was doomed from the beginning?

With how desperate he tries to impress others (especially Protag), and how attached he is to his title as well as his nepotism, his life being turned upside down just like that would be a nightmare. Everybody would turn against him, and no longer would he be the star employee at the company. In reality, he would be just as in denial about his feelings as Protag would be.

Also. ALSO!!! Speaking of Protag, it is heavily implied and agreed upon that Protag has religious trauma because of floor 4. If he did grow up in a strict, christian household, he would definitely have internalized homophobia.

The sight of a cross makes him nervous, meaning he’s probably no longer christian, but it has left a longterm effect on him.

This means that despite how he left his christian past behind, the things he was taught as a kid has never left him.

If his parents wanted him to be a “good kid” and follow God, I think they would’ve taught him that homosexuality is a sin. That’s one of the lessons that have also never left him, and he still stands by it even if hiding his identity makes him miserable.

Although, no matter how hard he tries, it’ll be obvious his heart will never be in the company or christian values. He’s gonna end up hurt and hurting whether he hides his feelings or not, which is just as tragic. He’d feel terrible once he recognizes how he feels about Coworker and I don’t think he’d ever confess. Protag would just suppress his feelings and they would both suffer silently.

If either of them did end up confessing, they still wouldn’t ever be able to truly get together anyways.

So, cotag could be in love, but they would never actually be able to be romantically together or express their feelings at all. They can do the littlest acts, like spending time with each other on breaks, but it’ll never be enough.

It’s not even right person, wrong time; it’s wrong person, wrong time.

I would write WAY more and I’ll probably yap about this later too because I’ve been keeping this to myself for so long, but I have to cut this short for now.

I probably sound like matpat right now with how im reaching with some of this stuff but I don’t care I need everybody to suffer along with me LMFAOO

yes yes yes! you are 100% right that channie can get super jealous & possessive. but the thing is, he is VERY good at hiding it. and let me tell you why:

• his venus in scorpio: this one is the most obvious and why i think a lot of people suspect his jealous/possessive tendencies. and duh, we know venus rules love & beauty, scorpio rules deep emotions, passions & desires, etc etc. BUT, scorpio also has also always been associated with manipulation. i feel like this is 100% the case with chan. he may not outright say that he feels jealous over something that you did, but he will twist things so that you end up feeling guilty and don't do it again (but that wasn't his intentions of course, you came to that conclusion on your own 😉🤭 sarcasm if you can't tell). he may even have this obsessive/possessive quality to the point that he subtly manipulates you into ONLY caring about him really. for you to put him before anyone else and make you feel like he's the only person in the world that can truly take care of & provide for you. very veryyyyyy subtly of course. but he may plant those seeds. why? because it makes you fall in love with him more & become just as obsessed with him as he is with you.... of course you're gonna know he has this side of him, but you don't know just how deep it goes

• his gemini rising & sagittarius mars: these signs are more about freedom & friendliness. making a wide array of friends & coming off as a "people person." very open-minded as well. these definitely aren't the first signs that come to mind when you think "possessive and jealous." but here's the thing, neither of these planets are necessarily WHO you are. they are more so who you come across as. who you present yourself to be. so channie's gonna come across as light-hearted and a super trusting boyfriend. he knows that & that's what he wants. he wants to be seen as someone who trusts you & lets you do what you'd like without making a big deal about it (after all, he's our sweet little channie and he would never try to control us like that! 🫠🤥).

• i also wanna mention his libra sun and moon. obvi we know that libra is all about balance & is definitely the type to run away from conflict. SO, if there's something chan doesn't like, he's probably not gonna outright talk about it. libras are also the "people pleasers" of the world and are greatttt at conversation, so more than likely, he's gonna tell you exactly what you want to hear. he's gonna struggle a lot bc at his very core (his moon), he really just wants to be loved and accepted. but he may feel like, in love (venussss), the only way he can do that is through manipulating you into seeing him as the only person in the world for you. libras love that shit too. feeling validated? feeling needed? they can be prone to manipulating the situation a little bit too. so yes, channie is gonna really have a tough time with it.

how i see this playing out:

• he will plant little seeds in your head. for example, he may say something like "i love you so much more than anything else" simply for the fact that he wants you to say it back. he wants to hear you say that he matters more to you than anyone or anything else in the world. he wants to be the only thing on your mind, but he'd never admit it.

• he wouldn't outright say anything if he saw you with one of his friends/another idol and got jealous... he doesn't want that confrontation. instead, he'll make snide remarks about them (again, tiny little pettttty things) to deter you from thinking ab them. like "oh you were talking to mingi at the party tonight? i heard he was pretty bad off tonight, got into some shit with one of his members" etc etc. just any petty thing he can think to bring up that isn't exactly putting that person down.

• let's say for example that you go out for the night & go clubbing and chan doesn't like it bc he wanted to stay in with you (but of course he's never gonna tell you what to do, right?). he MAY (depending on the day) do something that he knew you wanted to do without you. you wanted to watch that new movie on netflix? he totally forgot and he already watched it. "you would have loved it," he'd say. or maybe he'd hit up the cool new restaurant that you'd been dying to go to, and when he tells you, he'd brag about how cool it was & what a great time he had. basically, he'd make you feel like you were missing out by not being with him.

that's all i'll say for jealous & possessive channie, but i do want to end by saying that he doesn't have these tendencies ALL the time. and tbh, he's probably very unaware just how toxic he's being. he may even have conflicting feelings about it bc he DOES KNOW that you need your freedoms, and probably does TRY to gove you that. but sometimes, he just can't help himself. when he's in love, he wants you to himself & he wants to protect you.

I've seen people SO excited to see the cast back this week and all the excitement about the new season, optimism for canon buddie, what hair/tattoos/wardrobe might look like. But I cannot be bothered about whether Oliver will keep his fluffy hair or have any new tattoos or Ryan's mustache because I don't want another season of boring, repetitious storylines that don't do anything to the characters, especially those of color (thinking of the cartel and Mara right now)

I'm hopeful that because season 8 will be a full 18 episodes things won't have to be as rushed or thrown together at the last minute as season 7. But yeah, please don't apologize for your opinions because you're not the only one thinking similar thoughts <3)

im moreso apologetic because i dont WANT to be a debbie downer but its like…. ive been burned by shows (this one included) far too many times to be super optimistic and excited over things that could very potentially not be good for us… like i’ve said, most of the people i know with that mustache are awful human beings and when you add in the fact that gerrard also has a mustache like that AND that tim has been showing so little care for eddie as a character/care for poc characters as a whole it doesn’t seem far fetched to me that tim could very easily commit one of the most egregious acts of character death by veering eddie so far off the natural path simply to create cheap drama

like im so glad we seem to be getting fluffy hair buck… unfortunately fluffy hair buck doesn’t negate the fact that he’s currently in a relationship with a racist and that they’re ignoring 6 years of subtext built between he and eddie to try and further reiterate their “totally platonic dude bro” relationship, on top of giving eddie a look that exudes macho straight republican man…

like personal feelings aside for the mustache, i think we’re giving the writers too much faith in portrayal of queer characters to actually say that it’s eddie “embracing queer culture” simply bc it looks like eddie mercury… we’re talking about the same writers who gave the main wlw couple a cheating plotline, have boiled down buck’s sexuality to just sex, and have relied on playing into stereotypes of mlm/wlw side characters rather thsn actually putting time and thought into it… like it’d be one thing to say “it’s a nod to freddie mercury” if the show has actually shown any kind of care beyond using sexuality plotlines for cheap drama (henren) but the reality is that they haven’t shown us that we can trust them in that way yet.

and who knows maybe it IS a nod to freddie mercury, but we don’t know for sure and im not going to set myself uo to be disappointed yet again when its just as likely to be s nod to them making eddie an antagonistic character with gerrard… yeah, that plot wouldn’t make sense for eddie as a character but neither did the vertigo plot so who’s to say tim wouldn’t go for it?

at the end of the day, i am just not looking forward to s8. nothing yet has given me any inclination to actually watch it until we are shown that they are making strides to actually tell a meaningful story that doesn’t rely on minorities for tokenism plots or putting them through needless pain again. yes this show is a drama, but there are other ways you can create drama (hell it’s a show about first responders) than putting poc characters through the fucking wringer time and time again, profiting off their pain, while simultaneously telling lowkey racist stories that involve the fucking cartel coming out of nowhere to burn down a LA fire captain’s house???

so yeah, i’m just not feeling great about it. i also don’t wanna rain on anyone’s parade but i don’t wanna get my own hopes up when i would just be setting myself up to be let down yet again by these writers

So what if I'm emotional over a fictional, fake family spending one day of vacations together?

I love Twilight's comment about how he's glad the SSS is looking out for the bombing threat (and we know it's in vain), but it still puts him on edge to be stared at like this. He trusts them to protect civilian life (and Ostania's pride and joy of a ship) but he doesn't trust trust them, you get what I mean?

We shan't forget. The one thing this man can't pretend to be is someone who is having genuine fun and we'll drag his ass about it and then cry because this is a direct result of his traumatic childhood

Loid blushing when he spots Yor is so precious. I think it might be him blushing half because she saw his dorky skipping and half because… well. He might be falling in love :)

He notices the swelling on Yor's face, but I think he wouldn't even suspect her at this point. He sounded mostly worried about her.

And of course, Anya wasn't plaguing her with questions because she knows all, but it's funny that neither went like "Isn't our super curious five six-year-old going to ask where this bruise and swelling is from?"

The following montage was absolutely adorable, and the insert song just made it even cuter. I love how it was Anya who lead them to each activity; neither Loid nor Yor had to drag her around anywhere, their attention was on her and on what she wanted. They even explored a cave! She was their priority, she truly must have had an amazing time and this is such a sweet way to end this cruise!

I mean, look. One of the ways Twilight learns how to parent is by fearing 24/7 that his daughter may fall. Very normal things.

Maybe it's because I'm the youngest child, so whenever we were out as a family and I asked to do something my parents would usually decline, because they had two more kids to look after and a place to go, but I have a lot of appreciation for the Forgers going around the resort and stopping to do whatever and anything Anya asked to do.

Very normal man who is definitely not an elite-trained spy trying to fit in. Normal things.

And like. Okay. Yor looking at Anya with such a soft face as Anya is having pure unrestrained fun is one thing.

I love how Yor went like "Oh they might see the wound on my chest" for the snorkeling but when she saw they could wear wetsuits she went like oh that's okay then and DIDN'T WORRY AT ALL ABOUT THE FACT THAT SHE'D GET SALTWATER ON HER WOUNDS. And of course she'd beat the shit out of sharks. It's funny seeing the trio try to come up with excuses now but I think it's going to be a different type of good post-reveal, cause they'll be like "I have nothing to hide" and act on their abilities without a single moment of hesitation. Imagine Yor beating up sharks and Loid and Anya looking at her with heart eyes.

Aw, but look at them snorkeling. It's Yor who is holding Anya. I wonder what Yor's thinking is on that since she thinks that Loid is Anya's biological father and has been longer in her life. I doubt she thinks anything bad about Loid, but it is something that would make someone wonder.

I was so impressed by everything in the episode up until that point that I completely missed what the dialogue there was XD I only had more thoughts after I rewatched it.

Anya is having fun looking at the colourful fish. Yor has hunting in mind. Loid is… not impressed XD

Though very light, this could be a reflection of their characters. Anya is a child full of curiosity for the world, easily impressed by new stuff; she loved the aquarium, and she loved seeing new fish from up close.

Yor's encounters with animals were either for hunting (for food) or with guard dogs from people she was sent to kill. She understands the concept of pet animals, of course, but it seems to be a "secret third option", as tumblr would say. Her first instincts are either hunting or fighting, and since those fish were too small to be any threat (I mean, she's confident about fighting sharks), her mind went to food.

And then you have Loid. His wide knowledge of the world has rendered him almost incapable of getting impressed. There's nothing new for him to learn in anything… except for child rearing, of course. And maybe human connection. And so, he seems to be looking at those two in the last shot.

Just like Gram, Anya gets thrown around by a professional, super strong assassin and she just goes like "Again!" And Loid doesn't even make a comment about Yor pushing Anya too strong. He really took to heart and meant it when he told Yor that her being strong is one of the things that make her an amazing mother.

AND THEN THAT SCENE

I had guessed right, as Yor had indeed not rested at all for the entire three days of the cruise and had a long and intense fight the night before. AND THUS FANSERVICE HAPPENS <3 <3 <3

No but seriously, there's a lot to love about this moment. Apart from how cute it is, Twilight at first only seems annoyed by how this attracts attention to them. He was already alert from how the SSS was looking at everyone, this would only add to his uneasiness.

But it doesn't take long for him to find an excuse for his wife. Blaming all her exhaustion on her work, being thankful for her going along with everything Anya asked to do, and smiling at her!! Bruh!! And he STILL can't see it, this man is such a good liar he can even lie to himself!!

Seriously the way Eguchi delivered those lines? Superb <3

AND THEN THE FAMILY THEME PLAYED AND I WAS LOSING MY MIND.

They didn't have to go so hard T_T It was a relaxing (and quite prolonged!) chapter to wrap up the cruise arc, but it was wonderful T_T

Even the Handler is up to him, though. Fullmetal Lady won't fall for his emotionally constipated bullshit.

She even drew the family in their colours! Yor in red, herself in pink, and Loid in a muted green! I can see Yor holding one of her stilettos, but what is the other thing? A rose? I don't think I can tell what Anya is doing in the drawing, but Loid looks like he's holding a bomb? Or a surfboard?

The parts with Yor and her coworkers and Yuri and Lieutenant Guy were actually added by the anime! I feel Yor about the gifts. I'm so bad at gifts you have no idea. And Yuri is on another level, he doesn't stop talking about his sister and he tells Lieutenant Guy "Are you psychic or something" and he's like "Sure sure". And this being this kind of show I was like "MAYBE???" but yeah no he was just messing with Yuri XD

It's so funny to me that the anime added the detail that it was Loid who picked the snacks for Yuri. I wonder how quickly Yuri would spit them out upon learning that XD

Okay, this was hilarious. His paternal instincts are starting to kick in to the point where he imagines teaching Anya the proper methods of deception. It was also funny that as Yuri was imagining his speech, I went like "Uhm you lie to your sister no?" and before I got to finish that thought, the excuses kicked in.

And Anya is starting to learn that actions have consequences.

This isn't what she manipulated two enemies of the state into adopting her for.

Rody VS Vincent - Selflessness VS Selfishness

From the way Rody acts it feels like he might have a lot of self hatred? Or not a lot of self worth? He’s far too focused on how to make other people happy. This is the complete opposite of how Vincent is. His hatred is pointed towards other people. Hatred for the world maybe?

Rody doesn’t take care of himself at all. He can’t cook so he can’t feed himself, his living space is filthy, his apartment besides being a mess also needs repair, he barely has any food in his fridge, and he doesn’t own things like an umbrella when his only form of transportation has no way of keeping him dry. The server job he’s working isn’t something he’s doing for himself. That money is never going to be used to change his living conditions. He won’t do that because he will want to use it for Mammon. She left him because of that. Having someone you love be self destructive so you can be happy isn’t great. Rody doesn’t learn from what she says because he can’t see himself being happy any other way.

The act of caring for himself seems like a taboo. Doing things for yourself isn’t a thing in his eyes. Putting effort into something for yourself isn’t a valid idea in his mind. I get this idea from the fact he questions Vincent on why he put so much effort into his career.

Vincent is entirely the opposite of Rody. Someone who is incredibly selfish. He’s willing to scare, hurt, and even kill someone for his own wants and desires. Everything he does is for his own happiness. His cruel control of the chefs is to make sure they don’t mess up what he has built, the hole he has in his offices wall so he can keep an eye on the dining room to make sure everything is going well, and killing Mammon to try making food with “love”. The only reason he tries (in his fucked way) to cook with love is because he believes it may be something he’ll be able to taste. He can’t taste of course but when he hears people saying his food is missing that taste of it he grabs onto that. Delusional in thinking this will somehow taste like something.

Just like how Rody doesn’t understand why he did so much for only himself, Vincent doesn’t understand why Rody is dedicating so much to Mamon. Why spend so much effort to make someone that isn’t you happy? How is that going to make you happy?

They have a lot in common. As I said, Vincent is delusional and so it Rody.

Rody thinks he just has to earn enough money to do a big act of love for Mammon and that’ll make everything better. Not listening to the reason she gave. He doesn’t understand or doesn’t want to care for himself so he makes his own false idea I his head on how he can fix this and be “happy” again.

Vincent against reason thinks that he just needs to cook with “love” and it will somehow let him taste again, or taste at least something. No medicine nor dish has fixed his problem but somehow the thing which he doesn’t even believe in will change things? It’s desperation. He believes taste will be the key to being “happy” again.

Vincent and Rody act this way to be happy. Vincent tries to do things to make himself happy and Rody tries to do things to make other happy which makes him happy. Neither are truly happy. Rody hates himself because he thinks he’s a fuck up, someone that just can’t be happy by themselves. Vincent hates people because they have what he doesn’t and then they complain about his food in a way he’ll never understand.

Saying that their different sides of the same coin would be fitting

Being selfish or selfless isn’t a bad thing, you can care for yourself and others. But taking either to the extreme is just going to drive you crazy and hurt the people around you.

hobie never worried too much about it but miles did . he managed and used it more as a conversation starter though

until post collider , where (according to miguel) miles basicallly still left an inter dimension opening which caused their marks to show up

cue confusion . and like let's say like directly after rescuing miles from 42 hobie is looking him over for any major damage (he knows he'll be fine but he asked to . for peace of heart) and he notices the soul mark !! and they all talk about it and figure it out . and everything ends up fine with The Plot cue first dates + domestic fluff

i love soulmate aus. so much.

miles defo stressed over his lack of a soul mark, probably even felt insecure because of it. hobie didn’t worry as much as him because he had bigger things to worry about, but he definitely thought about it time to time and what it’d be like to have one.

so when it randomly showed up out of nowhere, the two were downright CONFUSED. like, hold on, what? they do have a soulmate after all?

miles was overjoyed and super excited, because maybe he wasn’t weird after all!

hobie was more curious, wondering who it could possibly be.

after hobie and miles meet for the first time, the two noticed how well they clicked. hobie had his suspicions, but couldn’t chalk it up to anything without any proof, as miles just thought it was because of their mutual friends.

then the whole earth-42 debacle. miles is definitely in a beat up state so he asks to help him put himself together (because for some odd reason it worried him) and thats when he sees the mark, and how it mirrors his own.

immediately he understood why they clicked so well. he wasn’t sure how to break the news to miles, but he decided to just be straightforward.

hobie: “miles, your soulmark.”

miles: “what about it?”

hobie: “you’ve got the same as mine.”

so of course, they talk about it. neither of them wanted to jump into anything too soon, because even if they feel a connection and are interested, they truly don’t know that much about each other yet! they take time to go on dates and get to know more about each other, and after a little they make it official.

while typin this up, i was thinkin about what their soulmark would look like. i could make it a sunflower, but i feel like that’s too obvious. so, i decided on a graffiti music note. why?

they both love music, that’s pretty obvious loll. graffiti because miles likes it, and i feel like graffiti could also be punk inna way? i think hobie would like graffiti, too.

-She doesn’t understand how you can blush so easily. I mean, it’s not like she’s trying to say things that make your face all red. However, when Alcina figures this out, she may take advantage of it just slightly.

-Alcina may be having a sophisticated conversation with you, but when it’s time to part ways, she makes sure it ends on a note that leaves you red in the face.

-Her daughters also take part in making you blush. To them, it’s like a game to see who can make you light up the most. Usually, Alcina would scold them to leave you alone, but she can’t help but find it a bit amusing.

-She may or may not question you as to why it’s so easy to make you blush. Alcina isn’t one to do so, so she doesn’t really understand it. Obviously, you don’t have an answer for her, but her curiosity grants you some mercy from her teasing for the time being.

-She is the only one allowed to make you blush. If the other lords even try it, they feel the wrath of her claws, especially Heisenberg.

Donna Beneviento (and Angie)

-In reality, Donna probably blushes just as easily as you. However, you would never know because of the mask that is permanently residing on her face. At least her understanding of the situation saves you from teasing.

-If anything, she probably makes you blush in innocence. Donna will just say things that she doesn’t fully grasp the understanding of until it’s too late. This leaves you both blushing.

-Angie just makes fun of both of you. Donna is not spared from her teasing. If anything, the porcelain doll takes full advantage of the situation. She finds it fascinating how the human face can get so red.

-She apologizes whenever she makes you blush. Donna always assumes that you’re embarrassed by something she said or did. You have to persuade her that you aren’t.

-Truthfully, you are at the mercy of the other lords. Donna isn’t going to get aggressive if they make you blush. She may get irritated, but she knows this is a trait of yours that is hard to control, so she’s not going to lose her temper.

Salvatore Moreau

-He is also someone that I can see blushing easily just like you. However, unlike Donna, Moreau tries to use this trait of yours to his advantage. After all, he just wants to feel like he has some confidence in this situation, and he certainly doesn’t mean any ill will.

-Since it’s so easy to make you blush, Moreau doesn’t have to think too hard on what to say or do to you to get your face to light up red. Truthfully, it’s a lot of sweet compliments.

-However, sometimes fire is fought with fire as you counter him with his own words. It becomes a battle of who can make the other blush the most. Truthfully, it usually ends in a stalemate with neither side winning.

-Moreau likes to make you blush, but it’s something he absolutely adores about you. If you think he worships Mother Miranda, you should hear what he says about you when he’s in private. You are truly something special in his life.

-If the other lords try to tease you, he throws a hissy fit. Usually, mostly Heisenberg, don’t take him seriously and keep their antics up. Moreau just ends up pouting.

Karl Heisenberg

-We all know that Heisenberg would take full advantage of the situation. This is why you try to keep the fact that you blush easily hidden from him for as long as possible. But we all know Heisenberg will find out eventually, and the smirk he has says it all.

-He goes way out of his way to make your face light up, and if you try to counter it by trying to make him blush, it usually doesn’t work, and he ends up making you blush more. 

-Heisenberg is the type to make you blush and then laugh that iconic laugh whenever he achieves it. The problem is that you love hearing his laugh, making you blush more, and thus making him chuckle more. It’s a gruesome cycle for you.

-There’s not much more to say besides the fact that he is relentless when teasing you. But even though he teases you, he loves that you can make him smile and laugh so much without even trying. He doesn’t say it enough, but he’s grateful.

-The other lords don’t even dare try to make you blush because they know well enough that Heisenberg would go feral. Alcina doesn’t have the patience for that, Donna is afraid, and Moreau is just oblivious. He did it once by accident, and now has more trauma than ever.

the whole cardigan/Peter parallels are messing my head can u explain

okay so peter is actually one of my favorite songs on the album for this reason! I think it has parallels to a lot of other songs, not just cardigan. the first thing to get out of the way is the cardigan lyric about peter and wendy: ‘tried to change the ending, peter losing wendy.’ now, that line doesn’t make a ton of sense because peter losing wendy is the ending of peter pan (idk I’ve never seen it and never thought I’d spend this long thinking about them), but I think what she’s saying is that he tried to change the ending of *their* story to peter losing wendy. peter loses her because she outgrows him, while he remains a ‘lost boy’ forever. the cardigan demo has an alternate lyric where peter actually *leaves* wendy. this does not happen in the original story, and to me, it reads like betty (eh, I don’t think those characters existed when she wrote that song, but bear with me) is accusing him of trying to change their fate by leaving her. peter is meant to always come back to wendy. *she* is the one who eventually leaves him. either way, cardigan ends with them together. yay for betty and/or taylor.

now, peter was written 3-4 years later, and it is the conclusion of a story about outgrowing someone despite truly wanting them back. the ending was not, in fact, changed. she did outgrow him. very sad. I actually want to go lyric by lyric, but I’ll put a cut just in case.

the song starts with taylor trying to figure out what went wrong. did she do something wrong to crush these dreams of theirs? she kept him in a closet of cedar (where unmarried women kept their belongings that they would want to take with them after getting married) in her mind, but things didn’t work out anyway. the first line being ‘forgive me, peter’ indicates that she is the one who pulled the plug, and she’s apologizing for it. again, she isn’t entirely sure what went wrong, which, to me, is a clear parallel to how did it end.

The goddess of timing

Peter was she lying

My ribs get the feeling she did

when they first met, the timing seemed to be perfect for their relationship (‘the goddess of timing *once* found us beguiling’), but that didn’t last. the goddess of timing claimed that she tried, but nothing could save them. taylor even wonders if she lied, which suggests a lack of faith in higher powers like fate or deities. this verse introduces timing as a major conflict in the story. ‘are you really gonna talk about timing in times like these?’

Said you were gonna grow up

Then you were gonna come find me

Words from the mouths of babes

Promises, oceans deep

But never to keep

peter went away, but he promised to come down once he was ready for a relationship. yes, this kind of applies to both of the main storylines on the album. you could take this to mean that they actually broke up a decade ago but promised to get back together, or you could assume there was some sort of break to their relationship, which she and joe did have. i kind of took it to mean that he wasn’t fully committed to the relationship, but he promised to be eventually. again, the renegade lyric, but also ‘i’m a fire, and i’ll keep your brittle heart warm if your cascade ocean wave blues come’ and ‘I’d hold you as the water rushes in,’ both of which are grand promises that neither party could keep.

this is the thesis statement of their relationship to me. obviously, there’s the call it what you want parallel, but more importantly, it shows that the two people really wanted this to work. they just came from completely different places in their lives and perhaps the entire universe. this verse seems to reference the epilogue (‘resentment rotting away galaxies we created’ / ‘some stars never align’). they learned the right steps to different dances, if you will. she knew he needed time, so she left temporarily.

she does get with other men, but she keeps longing for him. she wishes that he would return with a grasp on reality and be the man she needs. if anything, the time away would give him the perspective he needs to ground himself. interesting parallel to ‘I said I don’t mind / it takes time’ in loml.

this is just devastating to me. well, first of all, both matty and joe were 25 when they first met her, which, lol. the dreams they had together have expired now. it’s been too long. she cannot keep holding onto a love from almost a decade ago. he took too long to return. he lost his lifelong dreams to what was only supposed to be a chapter of his life. she tried to hold onto the days when he was hers, and everything was right, but she had to turn out the light at some point. this is the moment when she gives up on their relationship. she apologizes for abandoning the ship, but she must do it.

overall, I think peter is a story about two people who genuinely did everything they could to be together, but their needs and their growth no longer aligned. there’s a sense of acceptance and lingering fondness here. she did everything she could not to bolt, but the ending was the same.

Second, thank you so much for giving me a reference haha (I genuinely had to pull up that earlier post you brought up)

For this, I'm going to imagine that this is for a universe where I haven't killed off either of them (yet). Some names are taken from the dis aliter visum AU.

Rambles below:

Number of children: 2? 3?

Selene is their firstborn - Felix was perhaps more concerned/worried over every possible thing during the whole pregnancy/labor than Clemmie was. (The doctors debated telling the man to wait outside since he was probably going to stress Clemmie out haha)

Helios is their next child.

Because of this whole HC that Felix is a writer and a bit of a literature nerd - I'm considering the existence of a third child. Another daughter, Aurora.

While Selene and Helios' names are largely inspired by the names of Cleopatra VII's twins with Marc Antony, the existence of another child is a nod to Greek/Roman mythology of the sun, the moon and dawn being siblings. The first 2 children take on the Greek names, while Aurora is Roman (I prefer Aurora to Eos haha).

Age gap wise, it's not that spread out: Selene and Helios have a two year age gap, while Selene and Aurora have a five year age gap.

Appearance wise, they all look like a mix of their parents - though in some aspects, they take after one parent a bit more than the other. Like how Selene & Helios have Felix's curls, while Aurora has Clemmie's straight hair.

Parenting thoughts:

Felix is a lot more likely to spoil the children (the Dovecote charm is a dangerous thing that the children inherited), but nothing too crazy.

Honestly both Clemmie and him have a pretty similar approach to parenting and are both involved in raising them.

The household is a rather creative environment - Felix with his writings and Clemmie with her music.

They also encourage the children to find hobbies unrelated to academics whether that is art, music, sports etc.

Possible hobbies: Selene (tennis), Helios (piano - both playing and music composition), Aurora (fashion - she ends up interning under Iphigenia)

Neither of them have a favourite child and they mean it when they say it.

They expect their children to do well in school, and their children sort of follow in their footsteps. The teachers have nothing but good things to say about the Ravinstill children.

Thoughts about the children:

As a kid, Selene has fought a kid on the playground for saying that Felix wasn't a good dad. (After explaining violence isn't the answer, Clemmie may or may not have bought her ice cream afterwards.)

At the age of 5, Helios bought the world's tackiest mug for Father's Day saying 'Panem's best Dad' - Felix used it for an entire month straight. He only stopped because it broke :(

For Mother's Day the children wanted to make breakfast for Clemmie (Felix supervised). Selene (9), Helios (7) and Aurora (4) really tried their best, but it may have been in everyone's favour that they went out for brunch instead. Clemmie did appreciate the cards and gifts though.

The children are all perfect angels when they need to be (it truly is the Dovecote charm) but get on their bad side....oh dear.

Of all the children, Helios has inherited the lion's share of the Dovecote charm - if Clemmie was the it girl of her generation, then Helios is her equivalent in his generation.

what are your gwynriel headcanons/expectations for their book? 💙

I think we'll see Az and Gwyn deal with the Illyrians for sure and he'll eventually make peace with them as they'll eventually come around to the idea of and respect female warriors.

I think Gwyn will call Narben from the sea as well as the manuscript / small book Cassian threw in there and the information written in it will be important for them.

I'm thinking maybe Gwyn will tie Az up with his own shadows (since his shadows seem to respond to Gwyn) for their first time together. Not only does it give Gwyn the control in a situation where the control was taken from her but it fits in with what I think SJM might find kinky.

I used to think maybe Az would be into tying people up with his shadows and maybe he did that with the "lovers" he's taken over the years since we know he doesn't like "hand to hand combat" (meaning he doesn't like anyone touching him during sex) but I wonder if he's truly the dominant type in bed when it comes to someone he cares for. His mother was a servant and that's something he's struggled with so I feel like it wouldn't fit his history to demand a female bend to his will. Dominatrix Gwyn could definitely work 😁

I think Gwyn may end up being a cousin of Eris and Lucien's and she'll want to establish a relationship with them (as she has no remaining blood family) and that will cause an uncomfortable setup for Az who thinks neither Eris or Lucien are worth much (also wouldn't it be funny if the tables were turned and Lucien then wonders if AZ is good enough for his family? 😂) . This could also create a bit of conflict between she and Az which I think will be necessary because SJM has never done friends to lovers without them hitting a few bumps along the way.

Complete headcannon but I kind of love the thought of Az (and not Gwyn like Anti's like to claim) being the one SJM spoke of in SF as having one face while secretly hiding another. That his "beautiful" outward appearance hides an actual monster of sorts that comes out around enemies and Gwyn's song will be the thing that brings him back. That she'll have no problem with the monster being let out of the cage so to speak but she can call him back to her when he's about to lose himself.

I do think Gwyn has siren powers that she will use against their enemies. To me, that has nothing to do with her luring others in sexual way and is more along the lines of Rhys and Feyre being able to control others with their daemati powers. (Feyre was able to force Ianthe to pick up a rock and smash her hand so Gwyn being able to use her song to influence others to say, walk off a cliff, is really no different).

I definitely think there's going to be some sort of showdown between Merrill and Gwyn, that maybe Merrill is a bit of a villain that Gwyn will have to bring down but even when she does, it might be too late because by that time Merrill will have reached out to any remaining Asteri on other worlds and that will set up an even bigger threat to the characters of ACOTAR (leading into a multi series battle done in a multi POV beyond the traditional romance spin-offs).

I think Gwyn will suspect their bond first. She's the first full fae SJM has ever had as a possible FMC with a POV (even Aelin was only 1/4 fae) so she probably grew up on stories of the mating bond like Rhys, Cassian, and Az did. Az is so messed up over not having gotten a bond with Mor and realizing that his two brothers got one with two sisters while Lucien (not a brother) got one with the third, that I think he's completely clueless as to what's staring him in the face.

She'll definitely meet Az's mother though I'm not sure if they'll try to convince her to come back to Velaris.

I think they will end up living in the townhouse together.

I think we will eventually see Gwyn / the Valkyries in battle riding Pegasus but before that happens I think someone needs to figure out how to bring back their food source to the island where the Prison sits and figure out the illness that has prevented them from delivering foals (maybe an Elain plot?).

Wizard Breakdown Tracker: Mighty Nein Reunited, Part 2

Gather ye wizards while ye may, though with the return to Campaign 3, we are finally headed to Yios, where there are wizards, once we finish with the Gloomed Jungles, where there are were-creatures, which are also very cool. The hierarchy is, as always: paladins; wizards; were-creatures; literally everyone else; dhampyrs, kalashtar, changelings, and "hey DM, can I play a tiefling bard with intelligence 7". But I digress.

Ludinus Da'leth: So at this point (ie, shortly post-this episode), Caleb, known bridge between the Cerberus Assembly and the Cobalt Soul, has taken a job at the Soltryce Academy, which means any efforts to make a new, slightly more palatable volstrucker program and quietly keep it from Archmage Becke are going to go straight out the window. The walls are closing in, and he doesn't even know that Jester can go to the Feywild. 7/10.

Astrid Becke: Caleb listened and took the job! That's one success in what's got to be a thankless new position in many ways. Also I still really want to know who the hell has become Archmage of Antiquity, or if the Assembly just writes that one off as "make a deal to bring back a powerful Age of Arcanum entity and raise it to godhood once, shame on you; make a deal to bring back an powerful Age of Arcanum entity and raise it to godhood twice, shame on us and also what the fuck are we going to do with two nickels in a society that uses gold, silver, and copper currency." 3/10; Astrid's doing better than she ever has in this tracker, and good for her.

Eadwulf Grieve: Caleb is still keeping him in mind, which is good, because he really is like...look, he's a wizard, so he's not dumb muscle, but compared to his two former lovers he's very clearly the 'And Peggy' of the bunch. On the other hand this means he's probably just organizing the Temple of the Raven Queen Yulisen Night Potlucks and inventing the Exandrian equivalent of Minnesota Hot Dish or something. 0/10.

Yussa Errenis: Is aware of the storm on the horizon. Is chilling in his tower. Is largely unbothered. Other people pointed out that while he has developed a reputation for fucking around and finding out, he has also technically never physically left his tower to do so, which is honestly impressive, but does explain why Beau did not have to bamf out a partially dissolved old wizard when she ended up in Uk'otoa's gullet. Anyway, glad he's keeping up with Caleb and making potions. 3/10, for being aware of the storm.

Allura Vysoren, whose name I keep misspelling: Yasha did give Kima back the sword, and Caleb doesn't seem to have her staff, and she helped make a new, cooler sword! 2/10 for League of Miracles reasons only.

Essek Thelyss: Still under a lot of political pressure, regardless of where he is...but he's also getting, as Figueroth Faeth would say, his kisses in, so better than I expected! 5/10.

Caleb Widogast: So here's the thing. It is, as the other post said, about the green beans. And it is, as my last iteration of this said, not time for deep Caleb meta in here. But I do have a lot of thoughts about the similarities between Caleb and Fjord, as I always do, and about how neither of them really had much of an understand of what happens in their life past That One Big Thing They Need To Do, having already woken up at some point and been like *Mitski voice* I used to think I'd be done by 20. I do feel that the Caleb Widogast of part 1 of this two-shot was truly a Caleb Widogast who could go either way re: the T-Dock usage, and the Caleb Widogast of part 2 of this two-shot is not; the event has not (in my understanding, at least) occurred but the decision has unconsciously been made. Also he's dating Essek and he gets to have Dragon Time, which sounds like Floor Time but better. He does get a 4/10 though, because he takes it upon himself to become the Mighty Nein's Social Event Coordinator. As someone who just had to cancel a carefully scheduled D&D session for tonight because I am sick but also the DM and if I have to talk for 2 hours while simultaneously using my brain I will cry, this is very stressful.

Veth Brenatto: Camp's going great! Only one kid died, and not permanently! 1/10.

Fjord: For real? Who knows. I personally imagine that it does, as they say, briefly go to 11, because though Uk'otoa is dealt with and Zehir seems to have understandably gone "you are way too interested in love and the ocean for me to give a shit, I'm going back to bed", Fjord (not unlike Caleb) has to sit with the fact that he's done with that and he's happy OH GOD HE'S HAPPY WHAT THE FUCK DOES HE DO WITH THIS. Also he has to deal with the orphanage, which is going to be traumatic and unpleasant for sure, plus you know someone named "Grankton" is going to be holding a massive grudge against the world at large. But with time, it settles back down somewhere more reasonable, only to briefly spike and resolve again during Kingsley's little maneuver. So you know. Some numbers, probably.
