a friend who'd wait :)
#im posting this very late because i was sort of weary of how it came out and ended up messing w it until it was like 4am oops.#and i have plans tmrw so... oh well! i did my best and ill put it out while i can!#and i tried to make the scene match barnard's colors lol#finn's ocs#finn's art#i know i said id do more sillay stuff with the simpler screentone only style but i had a couple more of these in me#and this is the first piece im making thats like an actual part of the story too rather than just setting stuff for fun#i wanna write something to go with it too but for now ill just sort of briefly explain the context in the tags here:#barnard has a pretty bad case of OCD and his compulsions have made it difficult to make friends in the past#he was never outright bullied or anything but people just didnt really have the patience to deal with it#he has compulsions that include stuff like walking through doors until it feels right and needing things to be perfectly aligned#which in group settings has lead to people having to wait for him to finish his rituals and join them#they might find it tolerable at first but eventually they grow impatient and hes just... not invited to stuff anymore#but juno is a newer member of the guild who ends up frequenting the same library. hes also kinda a little weird#and they dont become fast friends or anything but just sort of naturally spend time in the same place#though they never plan meetups they eventually fall into a routine. around the same time theyd just both be at the library#and read next to each other. and maybe talk a bit. and eventually they end up walking back to the guildhall together#since theyre going to the same place after all. and juno always waits for barnard outside the door#eventually barnard asks if this bothers him. juno kinda just tells him 'of course it does' without any malice or anything. just a statement#barnard is surprised and apologizes and juno says not to. but the next day juno doesnt show up at the usual time.#barnard assumes hes committed somekinda more by bringing it up. he ends up staying there late reading to get his mind off it & not ruminate#but when he leaves juno is in fact still waiting for him down the hall (see pic) having collected a bunch of books literally abt ocd#he fell asleep bc barnard stayed later than expected. and hes an eepy guy generally. and also one very bad at expressing himself#but now barnard gets that juno's 'of course it [bothers me]' had the implication of 'but its worth it' which no friend has previously done.#and from the interaction juno was also able to understand that this isn't something barnard just does for the hell of it so. he studies.#and checks a bunch of stuff out because he thinks it could help his friend too (theres ocd workbooks and such- i remember working w them)#and thats the point where they became more ''friends'' than ''pleasant library acquaintances''#from there on they also do get into juno's problems. whole other bag of worms. but this specific scene is more about bernard from his pov#sorry about when i said briefly explain. i lied </3#but compared to the whole sequence im picturing its brief so shhh

Guys, please, Tango doesn't consider himself a builder in the same way Michelangelo might not consider himself a painter* (see tags). You can accept you're very good at two things, and still consider yourself better at one over the other. It's not negative talk when he calls himself a redstone guy.
#tangotek#* Michelangelo was definitely good at painting but his preference was sculpture. Painting commissions were more frequent and profitable.#I don't know if this is the best example because it's difficult to parse exaggeration and fact#About historical figures in general especially artists and their personal feelings about their own art#and he definitely wouldn't have put a very strong divide between his skill sets because like.#You can see how much working and studying 3D space helped him create such life-like people in a 2D painting.#But I think Decked Out is a good example of harmony of skills too#The building part of game design and the coding part needed each other to create Decked Out 2#My point here is#That we can't ask Michaelangelo if he considers himself a sculptor or painter#Because he's dead and also may not have an actual answer himself#But we can ask Tango! And he says he's a redstoner not a builder. And that's ok :)#Dear God this entire set of tags sounds like pretentious rambling but I'm gonna post it anyway bc I hope people see past me comparing#a beloved Renaissance artist to a Block Game Guy#and take time to reflect on how an artist might interpret themselves vs how their audience sees them thru the lense of their work.

i haven't posted art with proper lineart in like a month i just clean up my sketches until it looks like lineart and honestly it's more fun AND looks better imo. girl im never lining anything again after i finish the comms im working on now!
#liazrad talks#genuinely i like how the cleaned up sketches look. it adds more varied line weight to my art#and sure it might be a bit messier in some places but i think that's charming#over time ive become less and less of a perfectionist with my art and its become more fun as a result#have any of yall noticed i post more frequently than i used to? thats a good byproduct of all that too!#also it takes less layers doing things the fucked up way which is good for my computer teehee#when i was in like...middle and highschool i had always yearned for a perfect clean super detailed anime art style.#but these days? im enjoying leaning into crazier messier stuff! i wanna continue to mix that with the clean anime style to create MY style

#Okay ramble in tags I need to get this off my chest#So uh. obviously due to the whole leaks and gloob situation of late#I haven't really been into ml as much as I was before (this would most likely change with episode 11 of course#Naturally I've been getting into a lot of other shows (knt horimiya yoi for example) and I think I am#Posting about them more frequently? For the past few weeks#But it's just that. Okay first of I've never been multifandom so this is so...new#It kind of makes me sad that I feel I am like. Can't bring myself to. im sure its a product of like 1. tumblrs userbase decreasing over time and 2. just like the general culture of who people follow on tumblr these days but it is interesting to me that i think like a few thousand followers on tumblr is considered a lot now at least as far as ive seen? like tumblr funnymen im sure have more than that but in like 2015 my friend would complain about only having like 500 followers all the time and at this point i feel like its just like the norm...i think most people do not get more than a thousand followers especially if theyre not posting like content they made
