thoughts on hotch often on first name basis with (ie. close to) female colleagues
not that they call him Aaron (that's David Rossi exclusive lol) but he calls them by first name.
Katie Cole. It's very obvious they've worked together quite a few times, not clear if she was part of BSU. Interestingly, by all accounts Katie should know Gideon better, but she & hotch seemed much closer. (maybe that's just Gideon being Gideon.)
Cici Hillenbrand the prosecutor. They seemed very amicable, the trust & confidence in each other were deep. Cici let him sit at the prosecution's table during trial, in reality that doesn't happen. She also ran her argument by him, plus asking him out for a drink at the end? Maybe she's got a crush on him, who wouldn't tho?
Natalie Colfax the FBI agent. When they worked again in LA, Aaron went straight to her and said, “congratulations, Natalie.” It's obvious they kept in touch and Aaron thinks highly of her. Also suspiciously friendly given none of others showed any similar friendliness.
Andi Swan. the BAU worked w/ Andi before, but not often. Morgan knew her but that's it, but Aaron knew her well enough to give a comment about how she & the missing undercover agent shared the same trait.
Kate Joyner. This goes w/o saying ig.
Lily Lambert. Not sure if it counts bc Lily explicitly asked ppl to call her Lily. They ARE very close, which makes me wonder if she was in the late 90s BSU/BAU team.
He really gets along w/ female colleagues especially comparing to male ones. He's never called Reid Spencer, rarely calls Morgan Derek, even w/ Sam Cooper he stuck to Cooper, he wasn't as friendly with the detective from Lila Archer case when they met again, and he threatens Axelrod everytime they meet lmao.
Part of it is bc he doesn't fare well w/ other alpha males, and law enforcement is an extremely macho environment. And guys don't usually like showing affection, so he approaches guys differently.
Another is I think he tends to be extra soft with women and NOT in a condescending way. He offers emotional support which is patient, honest and quiet, like a skilled therapist. He makes people fee safe, esp women in an ultra macho environment. In a way he becomes feminine. Nothing is above or below him, there's always emotional response from him. If you want to call him at 10pm to rant about how your fav show is cancelled? You bet he's gonna be there for you.
(I'm not saying he doesn't give emotional support to male friends, but he understands guy like Morgan doesn't want to be coated by him, so he'll show his support some other way.)
Moreover, I think he needs that feminine presence in his life and himself. He doesn't want to be a super macho guy bc vulnerability, compassion and empathy is important. This job will eat him up if he lets it, so he has to find a way to maintain those qualities we so often attribute to femininity. He values those qualities in his female friends/colleagues, and he keeps them close to remind himself of that (and sometimes to remind THEM of that, see JJ&Garcia&Em).

One Piece Mermaid AU!
Featuring Luffy as a rubber mermaid who can’t swim, and Ace who carries her on his back as they pirate together.

Base headcanons for this AU beneath the cut! ↓ ↓ ↓
Luffy's a mermaid who was raised in Fuusha village, just like in canon. And, just like in canon, despite being a mermaid, she SUCKS at swimming, a fact that Shanks finds absolutely hilarious. She still wants to become a pirate, she still eats her devil fruit and becomes a rubber mer(?), she still gets kidnapped by Higuma (who sees her as an excellent way to rake in cash, given how valuable mermaids are on the slave market), and Shanks still gives her his hat.
As a devil fruit user, Luffy's already atrocious swimming skills are now at zero. She can still breathe under water, but will sink like a stone, her strength sapped by the sea, and if she loses consciousness she'll stop breathing too. Needless to say, she stays out of the water, and the villagers come to accept that sometimes, mermaids just live on land.
Garp still comes back, and is still furious at her wanting to become a pirate (and inwardly, extremely concerned that a bandit tried to catch and sell her), and still takes her to live at Dadan's where she meets Ace.
Ace has no idea what to think of the weird fish-brat who he's now told is gonna be his sibling, and resolutely ignores Luffy. He's inwardly slightly impressed as Luffy continues to follow him through the mountain every day, not even particularly hindered by lack of legs and using a mixture of crawling, squirming, hand-walking, and ricocheting forward with rubber arms to move.
Luffy still meets Sabo the same way as canon, and is still caught by Porchemy, who at first is thrilled because a mer brat! That'll bring in WAY more money than the spare change Ace stole! But in the end, he loses his temper at Luffy's stubbornness and still beats her to a pulp.
Ace and Sabo still rescue Luffy, and they still exchange sake cups and become brothers.
Yes, brothers.
Because at this point, neither Ace nor Sabo nor any of the bandits, nor anyone really on Dawn island save Makino and Garp actually know that Luffy's a girl. Not even Luffy.
The three brothers promise to each other that they'll all leave the island when they turn seventeen, setting out to sea to become pirates (Ace and Sabo are honestly a little concerned, given how often people try to sell Luffy, and how despite aquatic appearances Luffy's vulnerable af in water, but decide to wait and see. They have seven years together, Luffy ten until seventeen, who knows how much stronger their baby brother will get in that time).
Sabo "dies."
Ace and Luffy continue to train, and things don't change until Ace is seventeen, shortly before he sets out to sea.
He's let Luffy crawl into his blanket to sleep with him (partially cold-blooded, Lu gets cold easily when inactive), and Ace realizes that his lil brother's chest feels a bit lumpy.
Concerned, he makes Luffy have it checked out by the bandits, who are shocked to find developing...breasts?
That can't be right...right?
Dadan makes a call to Garp, who snorts and says of COURSE Luffy's a girl, didn't he say granddaughter?
No, he had not, he had only mentioned "grand child."
Everyone is shocked, but none more so than Ace, who really doesn't know what to do with this new information.
(Luffy's not quite sure what a "girl" is, and when she asks Ace, Ace honestly doesn't know how to define "girl" either, so she doesn't get what the big deal is)
Ace realizes he's troubled because he can't remember the number of times he's rescued Luffy from potential traffickers, and the number of times he's heard the lament, "Pity it's not female, it'd be worth quadruple," from the kidnappers before he beats them to a pulp.
He already had doubts about letting Luffy go out to sea alone, three years after he's left. But now knowing that Luffy's a girl, and one of the most sought-after species that traffickers target...he knows the world out there is much bigger than a teeny peaceful East Blue island, and Luffy may not get lucky every time, and may not be strong enough in just three years.
But at the same time, it's not like he can order her to stay here. There's no way Luffy'd listen; the sea calls to her, freedom calls to her, and Ace understands that more than anyone.
Sabo, Ace thinks, what would you do?
The night before he leaves, Ace tells Luffy that there's been a change of plans.
He's still leaving for sea. He's going to get stronger, and work his way towards becoming Pirate King.
BUT, three years later, Luffy will NOT leave Dawn Island alone.
Ace promises that he'll come back, a stronger pirate capable of looking out for his baby brother (because girl or not, they exchanged vows of brotherhood, and that's something that can't be changed).
He refuses to let Luffy be his captain, he's still got his pride, but maybe, maybe if Luffy becomes strong enough, he'll let her be co-Captain.
Luffy is thrilled, because she wanted to be pirates WITH Ace, and grudgingly accepts the compromise, and promises to train and wait for Ace's return.
Ace leaves Dawn island, and makes a name for himself on the Grand Line (he's PISSED when he finds out he's eaten a devil fruit, because now how's he supposed to rescue Lu from drowning when he can't swim himself???).
He even eventually makes it to Whitebeard, and eventually comes to admire the man. Whitebeard invites him to his crew, and Ace honestly replies that a large part of him wants to accept...but he can't. He promised his baby brother that they'll be pirates and co-captains together, and he can't join another pirate crew without Luffy agreeing too. Even so, and he knows it's selfish of him, he wants to call Whitebeard his father.
Whitebeard tells him that Ace is already his son, regardless of where his allegiances lie, and gives him his blessing to return to East Blue to fetch Luffy. Whitebeard laughs that he can't wait to meet the lil brat that Ace speaks so highly of, and for Ace to hurry up and come back to the New World so they can meet.
Ace plans on traveling light, his former crew all choosing to join the Whitebeard pirates except for his first mate, Deuce. Ace loves his crew, but they're also his crew, and knows that he wants to make their crew with Luffy. So he thinks he and Deuce will be a good starting point (You're just bringing me along bc you want someone who can swim on the crew, Deuce accuses).
As they're planning on leaving, Marco lets slip to fellow commander Thatch that he heard that Ace's "little brother" is actually a super cute girl.
The next morning, Thatch shows up too, insisting that he come along, because hey! He's been with the Whitebeards for ages and hasn't been to Paradise in a while, he wants some change! And won't it be nice to have someone as reliable as him along, just until they get back to the New World and reunite with the Whitebeards? Really he has no ulterior motives like wanting to check out Ace's supposedly hyper hot baby brother-sister!
Ace is suspicious, but Thatch is already on board and the other Whitebeards are already waving so he lets it go.
(Shortly after they leave, Thatch discovers a devil fruit. Deuce tells him to sell the damn thing, it'll taste like shit, but Thatch thinks boy wouldn't it be great to be able to woo Ace's hot brother with a really cool devil fruit power. So he eats it, and yeah it tastes like shit, but now he can control Darkness which is sorta badass?)
(Somewhere on the Whitebeard ships, Blackbeard is still waiting for someone to find the darkness devil fruit, and well, it doesn't happen)
Before Ace returns to Dawn Island, part of him still hopes that Luffy looks passably like a guy. Having been to Fishman island, having befriended Jinbe, he knows that while mermen can still be targeted, mermaids are exponentially more vulnerable. He's learned the kinds of clothing that can help conceal tails, and is hoping that there's a slim chance they might be able to be pirates without the world knowing that Lu's a mermaid.
His hopes are shot when Luffy rockets into his arms at the dock, and his face is immediately buried in enormous tits that definitely weren't there three years ago.
Despite Ace's growing concerns (and red face; why does he feel so hot??? It's not his devil fruit...), Ace lets Luffy give Deuce a beating (why me?!) to claim her position as Ace's Co-Captain of the newly established ASL pirates (because if we're pirates together, Sabo has to be with us too!).
Luffy's gotten a lot stronger, but is still utterly ignorant of the outside world and the dangers it holds (such as the drooling Thatch who immediately wins Luffy over with his cooking despite Ace's burning glares). She's reckless and falls into the ocean every damn day, and while Deuce dives in after her and they've discovered her useful ability to talk to fish to ask for help, it still gives Ace heart attacks.
They still pick up more crew members while in East Blue, including Roronoa Zoro, Usopp, and Sanji, a pervy cook who competes daily with Thatch for Luffy's affections through food (Luffy appreciates the food).
At Arlong Park, Luffy encounters fishmen for the first time in her life. Arlong mocks Luffy's choice of friends and family, and invites her to join his crew made of her own kind. Fishmen and mer are the superior race, and Luffy will make a fine wife, Arlong says.
Luffy breaks his nose off, and Nami joins their crew.
Luffy's chosen mode of transportation is on the back of one of her sturdier crew mates, usually Ace, but often Zoro too. She unfortunately hates all the long skirts/robes Ace suggested for her to hide her tail, and so Ace has decided that being as intimidating as possible while carrying his brother glued to his back is the only way to go.
Needless to say, news of the former Spade Pirates Captain + Whitebeard Commander Thatch (are they an extension of the Whitebeards??) establishing the new ASL pirates spreads fast. That, and rumors that there's a beautiful young mermaid on board who can't swim. And despite the strength of the crew and their attempts at vigilance, Luffy's still dumb and gullible, and is kidnapped (and rescued) a dozen times before they're even on the Grand Line.
(after a few times, Luffy's uncharacteristically quiet, and privately asks Ace if they can break up the crew. She's holding Ace back; she not only made him come back to her, but half their adventures just seem to be her crew rescuing her. She's strong enough to defeat enemies, but not save herself. Ace tells her to shut up, and never bring this up again; they're BROTHERS, and he's not going to leave her behind or make her abandon her dreams when she can't accomplish them alone, and that's his choice. Luffy doesn't bring it up again, but works harder than ever to become stronger and earn recognition as co-Captain when the world seems intent on thinking of her as Ace's pet.)
During one of these kidnappings, Luffy's successfully brought all the way to an auction house before her crew can rescue her. An auction house that unbeknownst to them, was under investigation by the Revolutionary Army.
Liberating slaves is an unfortunately common mission for them, and Sabo's doing final sweeps as Koala frees the last of them when he notices a tank stowed away in a corner. He's familiar with these tanks, used to showcase mermaids in the rare occasions one can be caught, and it looks empty but he's still drawn to it for some reason.
It's only when he gets closer that he notices a mermaid crumpled at the bottom of the enclosure. She's completely slumped over, and he's afraid she's already gone, even as something about her screams with familiarity.
He's cracked the tank and has reached in to pull her out, when the wall behind him explodes in flames, revealing a furious Ace who snarls at the strange man with his hands on his baby brother...
...and then Sabo's memories come back.
~~
Something like that???? For an initial HCs dump????

WayV Dealing With Period Related things
Tumblr media
TW: This doesn’t contain anything graphic! But you might not want to read this if you’re grossed out by the topic in general.
Genre: Fluff // Crack
Tumblr media
-> Kun. So here is someone who randomly reads up on the topic. And one day he found this fact about women only bleeding roughly a shot glass worth of blood every month. Which got him in fact very confused. So he hastily walked into the kitchen, his eyes opened in shock: “Is this true??”
You quickly scan the article and nod. “Yeah, that seems about right.”
“It’s just this much??”
“How much did you think it was??”
-> Ten. Probably the most chill person to be around. I kind of expect him to have a lot of female friends who openly talk about this kind of thing right in front of him. So even if he mind in the beginning he doesn’t anymore. You can literally ask him to get you whatever or cook for you and he will do it. He would probably do the chores if you’re in a lot of pain. As well. Let you wear all of his shirts if you want to and you get to decide what shows to watch. But he would either in a very subtle way do all those things or make you praise him lol. Like “Look what a great stay-at-home husband I can be! You’re very happy to have me.” Just because he knows you don’t like to be obviously pampered. You rather have all the work taken away from you by force and not expect him to do it.
-> Xiaojun. You usually never ask him to get pads or anything because you know how much it kind of grosses him out (even though he would never admit it, because he loves you). But there was this on time where you didn’t manage getting them yourself and you would run out of supplies the next day so you asked him to pick something up on his way home. But you immediately regret asking him as you hear him assuring you it was no big deal on the phone. Because, well, you it kind of was. Xiaojun was ver much clueless. And your intuition should not be failed.
As he came home and unpacked the bags he proudly presented you diapers. After you ask him why the hell he got diapers and not just common pads he said: “They had this as well but the package said something about anti leaking and then I started to think about leaking. And if there would be leaking - well, I figured you didn’t want that. So to fully prevent it I got you these!” He looked so proud and manly, gaining full pride from having thought about his girlfriend this much and actually read the package at the store without being embarrassed. But you just blank look at him and bluntly say:
“Xiaojun, I am menstruating. I am not shitting myself.”
-> Lucas. May I present you the most childish one. You may correct me but you can’t change my mind about hi having the highest sex drive in this group. And the most ludicrous humour. So he cracks jokes about it all the time including the one about real men moving into the Red Sea. But in his case the only place men move to is the sofa at night because you heard this joke too many times. Overall he is sweet though. He will use the jokes to cheer you up because he knows you share that sense of humour. He will also get you these cliche things like chocolate.
But just the second you think he stopped being dirty minded and came to care for you he pulls out an article saying orgasms being a great pain reliever because of endorphins and such.
You hit him with the paper. “So this is what it takes to get you to read a medical journal??”
Nevertheless you have to admit that with all his silliness, he is actually reliable and without his jokes it would be a pretty triste week.
-> Hendery. Women having their periods are his war flashbacks. Having grown up with loads of sisters has taken it’s toll on him. It used to be very chaotic and hormonal. So he is kind of every careful with you when you’re on your period. Extra nice and quiet. Just as if he’s trying not to wake up a beast. At first you were really offended by his behaviour. Then you got to meet his sisters and even though they are very sweet you could see by the way he was behaving next to them and how he was their little brother; you understood where is caution came from. So you just let him be. For the time being he disappears and yo barely get to see him. But your cramps are not so bad in the first place so you’re actually fine on your own.
It takes him a while to realise you’re not moody or cranky at all - just hidden somewhere in a lot of blankets. So he occasionally drops by to bring food.
It is actually very sweet how he chips in to be there for you  every now and then.
He obviously tries his best.
-> Winwin. Usually keeps his questions to himself. He also doesn’t google because he is scared of what he is going to find. So he takes matters in his own hands and tries to find answers to his questions himself.
So hone day you come home early and catch him in the kitchen, soaking a clean tampon in a glass of water. Winwin obviously got scared and panicked not only by you coming home and catching him red handedly but also because this thing just soaked up so much water and got huge. You stand in the doorway looking at him curiously. He’s looking back in shock. But you didn’t say anything since Winwin tends to do weird things from time to time and you’ve gotten used to it. After three seconds of silence he couldn’t help but ask: “W-why is it so big?? How does that possibly fit??” And you just burts into laughter. Apparently he just still is a kid after all, so you say whining away a tear: “First of all that is where your dong goes - and secondly it is also where babies come from so it better stretch.”
His looks is worth a million bucks, really.
-> Yangyang. He is and will be a kid. Not because he is young but because he is childish. So you don’t trust him at all and actually google a picture of the product you need. Yangs offered and insisted of getting you supplies because he somewhere picked up that this is what responsible boyfriends do. So for shits and giggles you let him. But you know he will chicken out once he is facing the aisle. Hence the picture.
“If you don’t know where to find this, just ask a shop assistant. They know.”
He reassures you that he is fully capable and you should not worry.
When he came home he handed you a small bag not only with the product you asked for but also some more enhanced ones. And you find your boyfriend avoiding your eyes mumbling: “The lady said you might like these better because they are more comfortable. It’s a new product so she thought perhaps you want to try it. But honestly I have no idea what ‘wings’ mean or why pads need them.”
He is kind of embarrassed but you are proud of him that he said ‘pads’. So you spare him the explanation.

________________________________________________________
It was five months after the whole Save the museum fiasco.  And even though my internship ended, thanks to Larry I was still able to come anytime whether to do additional research or just to spend time with my new friends. Teddy was an excellent historian and it was amazing to hear some of the stories that only the real Teddy Roosevelt would know.
Sacagawea was great female company to have around when the men got to be a bit too much.  She told me about her story and she even taught me how to shoot a real Native American bow and arrow.  Even though I couldn’t quite understand him, Attila was fun to be around, he and the rest of his Huns always wanted me to tell them stories and see if I could perform any tricks for them (thankfully I still remember some of the close up magic card tricks I used to do for Nicky when he was younger).
Then there was Jed and Octavius.  Those two—they are something I’ll give you that. They especially like to watch funny cat videos on Youtube.
Of course they still have their moments where they butt heads but either I or Larry are there to set them straight before they’re once again besties.
And of course I can’t forget, the pharaoh himself, Ahkmenrah.  Every night he and I would spend the most time together.  From learning each other’s life story, to dancing along to some of my favorite songs or showing him my favorite artists/bands.
Throughout all the time that Ahkmen and I have spent together, my feelings for him slowly began to grow.  I tried to hide it but every time I tried to ignore it, my feelings for the millennia’s old pharaoh just kept growing and growing.  The way his light blue eyes would stare into mine just felt like he was piercing my soul.
They made you feel not only insecure because they held such regalness to them, but they made you feel safe because even with him being probably the highest authority in history he’d never make you feel like you were inferior to him.
His smile was like—literally looking into the sun because it made you feel so warm inside.  And when he touches your hand—it could damn well just make you melt.
The two of us were currently in the Hall of African mammals sitting up along the lion’s perch.  Ahkmenrah was currently stroking the top of the male lion whom he’s named Maahes, while I had the female leopard I named Seshat with her head on my lap, her deep purring sounding off as I stroked her head.
“So is it really true you knew the Guardian of Brooklyn before he took his post?”
“Yeah, the Daley’s and I go way back to when I was in high school. Nicky was probably the best kid I ever babysat. He never spoke back to me and he wasn’t spoiled. He’s—really become like my little brother.”
“Consider yourself lucky to not have any other sibling.” He said trailing off.  I noticed the somber look on his face and I knew Maahes saw it too.  The king of the beasts actually nuzzled against Ahkmenrah letting out a gentle roar.  “Thank you my friend.” Ahkmenrah thanked him as the king of the beasts suddenly turned into a kitten right before my eyes as he lay right across Akhmen’s lap.
“Now I know that you saw cats as link to the gods, did you ever go so far as to actually owning big cats such as these Maahes and Seshat?”
“My father did once own a lion of his very own. Unfortunately he got a little too rough with Kahmunrah and father was forced to get rid of him. My only real exotic pet would’ve been Horus, my falcon. He was such a reliable companion.”
“You must’ve trained him well.”
“He was a clever bird. Sharp as a whip and as clever as any man.” He reminisced.  Just before I could respond, I felt Seshat leave my lap and her ears twitched about.  Maahes reacted the same way as he hopped off the perch and joined alongside Seshat.
The two big cats soon crouched down into a hunting position as they both slowly stalked out of the hall right towards the door.
Ahkmen and I looked at each other confused before the two big cats took off like a shot before roaring out and we both heard two very familiar screams.
“Octavius!”
“Jed!” the two of us cried out as we raced out of the room and down the hall.  As we reached the end of the hallway we saw the two big cats crouched over with their front paws outward.
“Oh Ahkmenrah, lady (y/n). we are sorry to intrude on your time together…..” Octavius said from between Maahes’ paws.
“It’s alright, Octavius. Maahes, release him!” Ahkmenrah first started off calmly before going into his kingly tone.  That low and demanding tone that just made me want to bow before him and do whatever he wished.
Maahes grumbled before obeying and released Octavius. But that’s when I remembered that there was also a second voice that screamed.
“Where’s Jed?”
‘Bout time someone remembered me!’ oh dear god not again!
“Seshat! Drop him!” She looked up at me with those kitten eyes of hers but I scolded the young leopardess. “Right now!” she then spat out Jedidiah and he soon came tumbling out covered in cat spit.  Ahkmen and I both made a face of disgust as Jed brushed himself off.
“Stupid cat!” he called up at Seshat.  She hissed down at Jed.
“Steady my friend, she’s a young kitten after all. She still doesn’t know any better.” Octavius said.  I took out a tissue and ripped a portion of it and handed it to Jed.
“Not that we’re not happy to see you both but why have you come all the way over here without the racecar? You know it’s dangerous for you both to be here, especially with Maahes and Seshat.” I said to him.
“That dangum monkey stirred up some trouble once again. He opened up the hallway window near our exhibit and before we knew it, we were attacked by giant birds.” Jed proclaimed as he cleaned himself off.
“Oh great, the onetime Larry gets sick leaving me to take care of the museum and already Dexter is making things difficult for me.” I whined.
“I’m sure it isn’t that bad.” Ahkmen tried to comfort me.
“Uhh yeah right. No offense your highness but this is probably the worst thing to ever strike our exhibits since we were at war with each other.” Jed laughed.
“It’s probably best we show you both what we are dealing with.” I knelt down and extended my hand and allowed the two miniature leaders to climb aboard before we all headed to the Hall of miniatures.
When we got there, we were definitely not expecting what Jed and Octavius had told us.  The entire room was surrounded by dozens hell maybe even almost 100 pigeons.
“Oh my god.”
“You see what I mean! Birds everywhere!”
“How could there be so many?” Ahkmen asked.
“Apparently Dexter also had some food in hand when he allowed these pigeons in the museum.” We walked inside stepping over the birds. Of course when they suddenly took off, I couldn’t help but shriek and grab onto Akhmen’s arm.
I set the boys down in Jed’s territory which seemed to be the worst case.
“Jed, Octavius. We’ve tried every single weapon we got but all it’s done is caused these birds to leave more of their crap behind.” Said one of Jed’s loyal cowboy friends.
“Oh god that’s gross.”
“Okay so dynamite won’t work, neither will the arrows.” Octavius pondered.  It was then I saw him look behind both Ahkmen and I, right towards Maahes and Seshat. “Wait, I’ve got an idea!”
“Lay it on my Octi.” Said Jed.
“What if the cats help?”
“That’s the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard. What else you got?”
“No, no, no Jedidiah listen my friend. Lions have one of the most powerful voices in all the big cats. If we can get Maahes to roar, then the birds should scatter.”
“Uhh Octavius lions aren’t the only ones with a powerful roar you know.” I told him.
“Ohhh I wouldn’t say that.” Ahkmen said wearily. I turned to him aghast.
“Excuse me?”
“I mean no harm when I say this but Seshat is a young leopard. Maahes is a fully grown lion and his roar is mature enough to scare these pigeons away.” He gently tried to assure me.  I crossed my arms over my chest and said.
“Bullshit!”
“Oh-ho-ho-ho. Looks like we got ourselves a competition ladies and gents.” Jed laughed.
“You hear this baby girl? Ahkmenrah thinks your roar’s not powerful enough.” She lowered her head angrily and let out a snarl as her ears bent back. “Show them what you got baby girl!” she then reared her head back as she opened her mouth and let out a fearsome leopard roar, which sent most of the pigeons out of the miniature wing.
“YEE-HAW!! Come on do it again! Do it again!” Ahkmenrah looked at my cockily before turning to Maahes and said.
“Show these ladies why you’re known as the God of war Maahes.” Maahes then reared his head and let out a loud lion’s roar which sent the rest of the flock right on out.
“WOO-WHO!!! Adios birdbrains!” Jed proclaimed as Maahes and Seshat then proceeded to pounce after the pigeons all over the room.  The birds soon took off flying out of the room trying to find a way out of the building.
“Why not make a little wager?” Ahkmenrah said.
“On what grounds?”
“If Maahes can manage to get the pigeons out, you must sing a song for me.” I tried to hide my blush and I countered.
“Fine, but if Seshat wins, then you have to watch both the Mummy and the Mummy returns, no questions or complaints.”
“Deal.” We shook on it and followed behind the two big cats.
Throughout the museum, Seshat and Maahes continued to chase after the pigeons roaring and swatting at them.  Jed and Octavius were now driving in their racecar catching up to the big cats wanting to get in on the action, cheering loudly at our two big cats.
Meanwhile Ahkmen and I raced behind cheering for both our cats in trying to get as many pigeons as they could.
“You know it’s never too late to back out!” Ahkmen laughed.
“Oh you wish we’re about to show you what girl power is all about!” I sassed at him.  We raced on ahead down the second hall, passing the other exhibits who dodged our path.
The six of us just having a joy of chasing these pigeons all around the museum.  Nothing could ruin this fun now.
But it was when we turned at one point of the museum that some of the pigeons were on top of the herd of rhinos and African water buffalo.
We all skidded to a stop right before the herd and I couldn’t help but say.
“Ohhhh shit.” One of the water buffalo’s snorted aggressively while a rhino let out a bellow.
At this point all of us including Seshat and Maahes took off running back the other way with the stampede following behind us.  Seshat soon bumped into me and the next thing I knew I was riding on top of her back as she ran faster down the hall.  I turned to see the Ahkmen was riding on top of Maahes’ back.
Both big cats did a sharp turn to the left towards the invertebrate wing while Jed and Octavius were just shortly behind us in the car.  I then noticed a small closet just ahead and I cried out to them.
“Guys in there!” Seshat soon noticed the door and I quickly got off her back and opened the door and soon everyone piled inside. I quickly shut the door and the next thing we heard was the thundering stampede passing by us.
When the thundering of hooves and giant feet stopped, for some reason Ahkmen, Jed, Octavius and I soon just started laughing. I don’t know whether it was the adrenaline of nearly cheating (well in a sense) death, or just for the hell of it but we were all bursting out laughing in the tight closet space.
“That was even more thrilling than the chariot chases I used to do when I was a child.” Ahkmen said.
“Boy you said it Ahk. That there was truly a wild rodeo!” Jed cheered.
“Okay guys, since they’re gone I’d say it’s safe for us to go out.” I told them as I opened the door back up.  And of course due to the tight space with me, an old pharaoh, two big cats and a ford mustang racecar, it was a tight squeeze to try and get out.
As Maahes and Seshat tried to get out, Ahkmen and I were jostled around for a bit, up until the point where our noses touched each other and our lips just barely grazed one another’s.  The two of us chuckled nervously as we couldn’t look away from each other.
We were so caught up in the moment that we didn’t realize that we were now the only ones left in the closet.
“You both just gonna stand there all googly eyed or are you finally gonna wring up your saddle and kiss each other already?” we heard Jed proclaim.  We both looked away and apologized over each other as we both tried to get out at the same time, only to bump shoulder to shoulder again.
Finally Ahkmen allowed me to exit the closet first before he was the last to leave.
“I swear you two are as about as crazy in love as two turtledoves in winter.” Jed said again.
“Shut it Jed, less you wanna go back into Seshat’s mouth and maybe even this time see the inside of her stomach.” I threatened.
“No thank you! Thanks for the help you guys see yah!” the car soon quickly drove off leaving Ahkmen and I alone with our big cats.  I looked down at my watch and said.
“It’s an hour till sunrise. You should—”
“Yes. Care to walk me back?”
“Sure.” We first big goodbye to Seshat and Maahes and the two of them walked back towards the hall of African mammals which allowed me to escort Ahkmenrah back to his exhibit.
After helping Ahkmen back into his sarcophagus he then told me.
“Don’t forget, you have to sing for me tonight.”
“What do you mean?”
“Our bet. I’ve been keeping score and Maahes managed to get the most pigeons out of the museum.” I shook my head and rather than argue with him due to time I accepted it.
“Okay. But just know I’m not the best singer.”
“Not according to young Nicky. He said you’d always sing him to sleep, and he’d always talk about how beautiful you sounded.” I tried to hide my blushing face and I said to him.
“Have a good morning sleep Ahkmen. I’ll see you tonight.”
“Yeah. See you tonight.” He said solemnly as his eyes went somber and he lowered himself back into his sarcophagus and I closed it up.  I internally groaned and thought to myself.
‘Damnit why did I have to hurt him like that?’ with that I left Ahkmenrah’s tomb and went off to handle any remaining birds that were still in the museum and clean up the mess before either Dr. McPhee or Rebecca came in.
Later that night I arrived at Ahkmenrah’s tomb with my laptop ready to give into his deal that we had made last night.  After getting him out of his sarcophagus we sat there along the floor while I opened up my playlist.
“So any hints as to what song you shall be singing for me?”
“Uhh no. You may have gotten me to sing for you, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be telling you exactly what that song will be.” I sassed playfully.  He grinned at me while I went back to scrolling through my playlist.
“Have you found it yet?”
“Keep your tunic on your highness.” I then clicked on the playlist to highlight the song and I said. “Okay; now this song was written by one of my favorite bands in the start of their early career. This was also the song I used to sing to Nicky whenever he had a bad dream whenever I babysat him.” I double clicked on the song and soon through the speakers, “White Queen (As it begins)” played through the speakers.
I took a gentle inhale in before exhaling and waited for Freddie’s soft voice to come through the speakers before finally singing along to the track.
I sang along softly not quite trusting my voice (also cause I didn’t want to crack in front of my crush) but slowly my voice got a bit more confident when Freddie’s voice crescendo.
*Ahkmenrah’s POV*
Oh almighty Horus and Ra above, she—she had the voice of only a true goddess.  It was so soft yet passionate that it just…..she really was like the Queen in this song.  I have imagined stars in (y/n)’s hair and she was an ethereal of beauty in not just her looks but her kind heart and gentle but fiercely protective nature.
I couldn’t help but fall under the spell of her siren-like voice and just admire her.  Her eyes shining through the faint light that came into my exhibit, the way her medium length hair waved down like the Nile river.  She was everything and more.  By the end of her song, she clicked a key on her laptop and turned to me.
“How was that?”
“Beautiful.” I said in awe. “You—Nicky didn’t even come close to describing the true ethereal of your singing.” She looked away from me shyly and nervously laughed.
Even her laugh, shy or not, was always adorable.  The way her eyes would scrunch up at the corners, when her smile would go ear to ear.  A smile like that really showed me that she was truly happy.  And the way her eyes would sparkle…..it was like seeing the stars in the sky.
“Was it that bad?” she asked me.
“Quite the opposite actually. You sung beautifully.” I told her as I gently took her hand in mine.
*My POV*
As soon as Ahkmen took my hand, my heart went boom.
“Thank you.”
“Tell me what was that song?”
“It’s called White Queen. It’s by my all-time favorite band called Queen.”
“They sounded beautifully.”
“Yeah they do. I love almost all of their songs.”
“Could you show me more?” I nodded and he sat closer to me so that I could scroll through more of my Queen Playlist.  I shared with him some facts that I knew about Queen and showed him some pictures of the band in the past.
“You know Ahkmen, if you grew a mustache or just grew out your hair down to your shoulders and had four additional incisors, you could pass off as Freddie Mercury.”
“You really think so?” he asked me.
“Yeah I could see it.”
“Was he of Egyptian blood?”
“No. His family is Indian Parsi. Freddie was born in Zanzibar.”
“Well regardless. This Freddie Mercury would’ve been revered as a god amongst us. He truly does command his audience like a king.”
“He just knew how to make everyone apart of the show. Even the people in the balconies or in the very far backrow became involved. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any rockstar make everyone feel so comfortable during a concert. God I wish I could’ve seen them live with all four of them in person.”
“He will be remembered as a God and is watching over all of his people. Including the ones who come in later in life.” He comforted me as he placed a hand to my shoulder.
“Yeah.” I sighed softly.  Things got quiet before Ahkmenrah took my laptop and clicked on a random song and soon enough “Good old fashioned lover boy” started playing through my speakers.
“Would you care to dance?” he said as he stood up and held his hand out to me.  I looked up at him and I said.
“I told you I’m not a very good dancer, especially in slow dancing.”
“Well, lucky for you I was forced into taking all those slow dance lessons in my time as Prince. Do you trust me?” I looked up into those soft light blue eyes and along with Freddie’s serenading voice of the opening song, I was literally melting but couldn’t help as I took his hand and answered softly.
“Yes.” He helped me up and right as the chorus began, Ahkmen had us be in position one as his right hand holding my left and his other hand gently wrapping around my waist.
I shivered slightly and looked down at our feet before I felt his finger lift my chin back up.
“Eyes on me. Now just follow me lead.” He then began to lead me into a slow waltz.  Of course it was clumsy at first with me stepping on his foot the first several times.  I softly apologized profusely every time I stepped on his feet but he assured me it was all fine.
The song continued to play and while staring into Akhmen’s eyes I couldn’t help but think just what kind of lover boy he would’ve been.  Would he be like what the song stated? Or was it something else? God why did fate have to be so cruel? The one guy I take an extreme interest in and he has to be a 4000 year old mummy.
It was then I heard the song end and a new song (just to rub salt into an open wound) began playing, and that song was “Love of my Life”.
“(Y/n)?” I looked up at him slightly startled.
“Yeah?” He soon became shy as he spoke.
“These—these past couple of months have been…..well they’ve been the most fun I’ve ever had in 4000 years.”
“I’m glad.”
“You’ve been the one true friend I’ve had ever since I was freed from my prison.” Oh god please tell me I’m not gonna get friend-zoned.  “Unfortunately, I—I cannot deny what I must tell you.”
“What-what exactly are you saying Ahkmen?”
“I—I……” he trailed off trying to look down and hide his shyness.  He genuinely looked conflicted with what he was about to say.
“Ahkmenrah,” I cupped the side of his face. “Whatever you have to say, I won’t get mad.” He didn’t say a word, in fact he leaned closer to my face until his lips captured mine.
It was a shy kiss at first.  He was testing the boundaries of this to see if I would push him away or kiss him back.  I was shocked at first but as soon as my heart hammered in my ears and I fell under the spell of the kiss, I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and pressed my lips to his.
Seeing how I accepted the kiss, he wrapped his arms around my back and pulled me closer which deepened the kiss.  The anxiety and worries we both had melted away as I heard him let out a soft hum which made me softly moan.
We separated for air but kept in close proximity of each other.  Our noses gently touching each other’s.  I let out a soft choked laugh as I couldn’t make my heart calm down.
“I—” I softly spoke.  I licked my lips softly.  “I love you too, Ahkmenrah. I mean call me crazy but excluding the fact that I’ve known so much about you since the start of my college career. But spending these past couple months with you has been a dream come true. I’ve always wished and dreamed that I could meet you and just talk to you and—” he pressed his finger to my lips stopping my rambling.
“You talk too much my love.”
“You’re right sorry.”
“Don’t apologize. You’re cute when you do that. It shows you’re passionate.” He tucked a strand of my hair out of my face and continued in a teasing tone, “So you’ve dreamed about me?” I giggled.
“Maybe I shouldn’t have said that.”
“No. I’m honored. I’m honored that I have gained the affections of the only goddess on Earth.”
“I wouldn’t go that far. But I really like you too Ahkmen.” He smiled at me and asked.
“Can I—kiss you again?”
“What do you think?” I said as I leaned in towards him and kissed him now, but this time with more passion just as the song was ending.

I hope this isn’t too personal but as a bi/ace person, how did you realize you were bi? As an ace folk I feel like my perception of attraction is all f-ed up and I can’t figure out if I just think girls are pretty or if I’m actually into girls? It doesn’t really matter cause I’ll only ever really be able to date guys bc of my family but I want to know for me
No, not too personal at all! I’m actually really glad you asked because it’s something I struggled with a lot and it’s nice to know I’m not the only one. I just apologize in advance for the essay I’m writing to give you as much context and information as possible for how I figured it out. (Also I basically wrote an essay on the guys I’ve thought I loved, so it’s only right for me to write an essay like this.)
I’m totally with you, I feel like my perception of attraction is about as reliable as a broken clock: maybe right occasionally but otherwise not much help.
I never questioned whether or not I was interested in guys. It was expected and assumed. I never really understood things people would talk about or show in media, like people just not being able to control themselves or people getting excited over events like Broadway Bares, but I never doubted my interest in guys.
In that same vein, despite going to an alternative high school where we talked a lot about LGBTQIA+ topics and I had a lot of friends who were out, it never occurred to me that I could be interested in anyone other than guys. I can look back now at a lot of situations growing up and see the times I mistook interest in a girl for admiration or just thinking she was insanely cool.
The first time I ever questioned being straight, I think I was 14 and I was doing a Romeo and Juliet balcony scene project with a friend who actually was going to come out as a trans man the next year. (The only reason I’m sharing that is because I don’t want to misgender him now but it’s obviously relevant that I didn’t know yet that he’s a man.) When I was watching the footage back to edit, I caught a sweet gesture in his Romeo monologue to me that gave me total butterflies and I found myself watching it over and over. I decided by the end of the week that I wasn’t actually interested in him, and then proceeded to convince myself I was straight again until I was 21.
I was at a regional theatre convention with my college department and we’d seen one of the schools perform a show earlier in the day. The girl who played the lead was absolutely incredible. Later in the day, I was on a bus waiting to go back to the hotel, and I saw that school in line to also board the bus, including the girl. I thought I was just a little starstruck, but my head was spinning as they all got on and she made her way toward the back of the bus where I was to let people continue to get on. She asked if she could sit next to me and I thought my heart was going to explode it was beating so fast.
Normally, when people sit next to me who I don’t know, we both do things on our phones so we don’t have to talk to a stranger. I had absolutely no intention of picking up my phone if there was any chance she wanted to talk to me. And she did. And I truly about died. It turned out that she’d had a rehearsal during a class I attended that she’d wanted to go to, and I’d taken extreme notes, so I offered to send them to her and gave her my phone to give me her email, but I didn’t clarify that. She put in her number. I did not shut up about her for the last two days of the trip or the following week.
Being in a very liberal college theatre group, of course my friends were all super excited and supportive, and one of the adults on the trip with us is bisexual and she was actually a big help and encouragement as I settled into the realization that I wasn’t just starstruck by this girl.
I didn’t have my first full-on crush on a girl until a little later into the year with a new girl in the department. I don’t even remember realizing I liked her. Just all of a sudden, every time I was around her, all those reactions started happening again. And we were in the same friend group, so we were around each other a lot.
She would enter the same room as me and I would have trouble focusing. She would smile at me or laugh at a joke I made and I would almost short-circuit. I had to pin her into this weird top for a costume and I would get a little shaky every time. She would text the group chat and I would just stare at my phone. One time, she hugged me and kept her hands on my waist as we pulled back and she just met my eyes and smiled at me and I am genuinely not sure I have ever short-circuited so hard over a crush.
So that’s how I’ve learned to recognize the signs for myself. I had the same kind of reactions that I had with guys I liked. My head spun, my heart raced, my brain would either never shut up or totally shut down, I found myself going out of my way to spend time with her or just be in the same room as her. I’d see her and I’d get that cheesy warm, fuzzy feeling. I’d get really nervous in a way I never got around other friends.
That being said, my feelings for the girl on the bus and my friend felt so different from what I’d felt before. With my friend, in particular, I’ve never been more sure of a crush. I felt everything more strongly. I’m a pro at finding reasons to stop liking someone so much, and I couldn’t find a single one with her. I could talk myself out of wanting to pursue any crush in college, but the only reasons I had for not telling her how I felt were that the thought completely terrifies me with anyone, I wasn’t sure how she felt and didn’t want to mess up the friendship, and I was about to graduate while she would still be in college for a long time. All outside things. Nothing to do with her.
And it did take me a while to understand it. I think I actually more typically get crushes on guys, so that made it even harder to figure out. Honestly, talking about it helped me a lot. It was easier to make sense of it when I had friends getting excited with me and freaking out over how they hadn’t seen me like that about a crush before.
Being on here helped me, too. I was still scared to talk to friends out loud, so it helped to see what people on here said and find things I could relate to. Actually, one of the first signs I just didn’t realize was that I was starting to read and even write female character x reader fics and trying to convince myself it was for curiosity and expanding my writing.
The one other thing I can think of that helped me was overthinking things the way I always do. It made me try to analyze my own feelings in a way I never had before. I tried to imagine dating this girl. The thought scared me, but because I was starting to realize that dating anyone intimidated me and was an entirely separate problem. Also, being ace does add a new layer of navigation. But when I was first really trying to figure out if I liked her, I imagined how I would feel if she liked me. I realized I would feel a kind of excitement I wasn’t sure I’d ever even felt before, and that was my answer.
It doesn’t have to be any of my business how your family feels, but if you want to talk about that, I’m here. I totally understand that it’s SUCH a difficult situation to be in, but if this is who you are, no one has the right to tell you otherwise or how to live your life. I know that’s a lot easier said than done. But you don’t have to live your whole life the way your family wants.
I can’t speak from experience not having a supportive family. I told my mom as soon as I got home from the theatre convention. But it’s been 3 years, now, and I haven’t told my brother or my dad. I know they’ll be incredibly supportive. I know it won’t cause problems. But the thought still scares me. The idea of anything having to change scares me. The thought of actually physically having the conversation terrifies me.
So I don’t mean to make it sound like I understand having an unsupportive family. I’m so sorry if that’s your situation. I do understand being scared, though, and feeling like you have to cut yourself off from pursuing something for the sake of not having to deal with it. I can’t preach about living as your most honest, authentic self when I’m not there yet, either. But I’m here with you if you want a friend while you navigate this potential new territory.
The last thing I’ll say is this: once I got over my initial shock and set aside other influences so that I could just focus on myself first, I felt so happy. I felt excited. And I felt free. It kind of felt like a rebirth. Things made sense that never had before. I felt like I’d just opened up a new world for myself. Obviously, we live in a world where it’s not simple and easy and automatically accepted by everyone. But that doesn’t mean we can’t find all the good there is.

Trust - Chapter VII.
'Nick, just leave me alone,' I said answering the phone. My voice was way too whiny for my liking.
'Talk to me, please,' he replied sounding tense and a bit worried. 'I know that I didn't have time to talk, since Priyanka interrupted us, but...'
'Yeah, and now that you have, do you expect me to just be on standby and jump into a conversation when you give me the honor of talking to me?!' I asked, my bitter self trying to push him as far away as possible.
'No, but...'
'I'm not just someone that you can go to whenever you feel like it, then don't give a shit about for days.' I know that I was overreacting, yet I couldn't stop myself. I was irritated and having period cramps and the two together didn't lead to any good.
'I'm sorry that I made you feel like that,' he said calmly, and I hated that only from hearing his voice I was already feeling calmer. 'I just couldn't get away, Priyanka knows that something is up.'
'And what is that?' I asked quietly, biting my lip. Not that I was in the mood for this conversation but we might as well did it now. 'What are we doing?'
He was quiet for a while. Then I could hear him sigh deeply.
'I don't know.' His voice was uneasy and unsure.

Chapter VII. - Play me your guitar, that song I love
Nick’s texts are bold
Milla’s texts are italic
'What have you been doing today?' Nick asked. We've been on the phone for the past twenty minutes, the mood between us extremely flirty and light. I guess that's what FaceTime sex does to you. I would've expected it to be awkward, but we weren't at that phase yet, I guess. We were avoiding talking about last night like real mature adults.
'Not much,' I shrugged. 'I've been fangirling,' I brought up the topic. Truth is, I wanted to talk to him about some recent discoveries I've made in the past few hours, just didn't know how to bring up the topic.
'Oh, really?' he asked cheekily. 'I thought as a great Jonas Brothers fan for life there is nothing new for you,' he noted, and I could almost see the conceited smirk on his face.
'There is barely anything about you that could surprise me, but...' I started, biting my lip.
'I'm not going to like this, am I?' Nick asked, his senses working perfectly.
'Probably no.' There was a pretty big chance that he is no going to like the topic, but after everything I've read on Tumblr and Wattpad for the past few hours – really, I could still be surprised of how easy it was to get lost in the sea of information and theories -, I needed to know what was true. 'Demi Lovato,' I said her name, having a feeling that he'd get the idea of my recent reads.
'I had a feeling you weren't just going to let that go,' he noted, sounding a bit frustrated. I didn't care. Nick knew almost everything about me and my life, it was only fair if I got to take a glance in his.
'Well, I mean, she is one of my teenage idols. I love her voice, I've loved her songs.'
'Yeah, so did I,' he sighed deeply. I imagine this must've been an uncomfortable topic for him, but wasn't the point of this whole 'friendship' to be open with each other? Most of the things I've told Nick made me very uncomfortable too, but I still did it.
'Something happened between you two,' I started.
'What do you think exactly happened between us?' he asked. I wasn't even surprised that he didn't just start to share the story right away, but rather made me tell him that I think went down. He could've just shot me down, saying that he wasn't going to talk about it, but for whatever reason he didn't. Maybe he presumed that if he wasn't going to share, I wasn't going to share either.
'You want to know how much the fans could see of it?' I asked. It was kind of interesting, talking with him about this. We got a basis of comparison about how much the outside world could actually guess about the events between two celebrities.
'I do,' he replied. 'I promise I'll tell you what actually happened, I'd just like to hear how the outside world perceived it.'
I could understand where he was coming from. This could give him an insight on how to do things if he actually wanted to keep his private life private. I felt so touched that he didn't even try to deny answering my question. I had no idea why he trusted me this much. I mean, yes, I've told him some of my deepest darkest fears and concerns, but I was a no one compared to him. My private life getting out in the open didn't matter, while his private life being leaked could lead to serious troubles. Not that I had any intention of betraying his trust, but the mere fact of Nick not being concerned about me selling him out, had me in awe. I don't think anyone has ever laid such trust in me.
'You and Demi were best friends. First your success as Jonas Brothers boosted hers, then after the band broke up, her success boosted your solo career. You did interviews together, mutually promoted each other, went on tour together.'
'Everything you've said is correct,' he replied carefully, waiting for me to continue.
'Somewhere along the line you started to have feelings for each other. You had the question whether or not ruining the friendship between you two was worth it, whether it could become something serious. I imagine you were the one that didn't want to risk it, since Demi wrote those songs about you.'
'I was,' he nodded. 'I'm not sure they were romantic feelings in the beginning anyway. Maybe it was just pure lust, I mean, we were both sexy, both single, maybe something just brought our attraction towards each other to the surface.'
'I think you were extremely annoyed about the songs,' I chuckled, continuing my presumptions. I loved those songs by the way, I always thought that Demi was an incredible artist and both Only Forever and Ruin The Friendship were amazing songs.
'Why would you think that?' he asked, sounding a bit amused.
'Because you're a control freak,' I shrugged. At this point of our acquaintance it wasn't an assumption, it was more of a fact. He didn't even try to deny it. 'And Demi just wrote a song with not only some hints, but your initials in the lyrics. Everybody knew it was about you, and, well, Ruin The Friendship was also kind of candid,' I explained. 'But I guess the songs did the trick in the end, didn't they?'
'I was so mad at her,' he said, reminiscing. 'I always tried to keep my personal life, most of my feelings under wraps, until at least I was sure of where things were going. Yet here comes Demi and tells the world about what was going on between us.'
'What is the 'you're only brave in the moonlight' thing about? Did you two sleep together earlier, or...?'
'No,' he replied instantly. 'But we did talk about crossing the line a few times, usually when we were both drained or tired or emotional and not thinking clearly.'
'So when did you two cross the line?' I asked, the fangirl in me being on her peak. This was amazing, I was getting details that I never thought I'd hear.
'Last night of tour,' Nick sighed. 'It would've been stupid to try anything until we had to constantly work together.'
'And what happened?' I continued the questioning. 'I mean, the girl was so clearly in love with you.' Not that I could blame her.
I didn't want to assume what exactly went down between them, I was hoping that Nick would tell me. Sure, I've read fan theories, even some fanfictions, but hearing the tale of two friends becoming more from the first hand seemed like the most reliable source.
'Yeah, she was.' His voice sounded sad, and I suddenly felt guilty from bringing up old scars just because I was curious. 'I wasn't. For me it turned out to be only lust and extremely deep love for my best friend. I'm not saying that it couldn't have worked, but... I was young and didn't think that a relationship I needed to work hard for, even if it was with someone as amazing as Demi was worth my time. I wanted to concentrate on my career and...' he stopped.
'And the friendship was ruined?' I guessed quietly. It was a sad story, something I really felt bad about.
'Exactly. We were stupid to ruin something great in our lives.'
'Did you try to fix it?'
'Sure. But Demi said she couldn't be my friend, that she needed time, then she started getting into bad crowds and using again, and...'
He didn't have to finish the story. Demi Lovato overdosed and almost died. The media was full of that story, and Demi was gone for a long time after that. I'm sure that there were parts that I could've asked about, like if Joe and his past relationship with Demi was a factor in all this, but I felt like this information was already much more that I could expect from Nick.
'I'm sorry,' I said. 'For asking, and bringing it up.'
'Don't apologize for wanting to get to know the real me, Milla,' he said quietly. He's said this countless times before, but I still felt like I was intruding in the private life he's worked so hard for to keep private. 'I don't apologize from asking about your life either.'
'It wasn't your fault, you know,' I said carefully, sensing that Nick was partly blaming himself for Demi's overdose. I mean, they were friends, then they did something stupid that they couldn't fix and the she almost died. I've known Nick for long enough to know that it couldn't be something that he took so lightly.
'Thank you, but—' his answer was suddenly cut into half, when another voice joined in our very private conversation.
'Nick? What are you doing? Why aren't you in bed?'
Even if I didn't know the voice, I could've guessed. It was Priyanka.
My heart instantly started racing faster, and my breath caught up in my throat. Nick was also startled, judging from his lack of answer for a minute.
'I'll be right there, Pri,' he said uneasily, his voice a trembling a little, before disconnecting the call without another word.
This was more than enough to make me feel like a dirty mistress, someone that could be just shaken off when the wife entered the scene. Nick's 'I'm so sorry' text a few seconds later didn't exactly help ease my thoughts.
We've barely talked the next day. Or the day after that. Or the day after that. It was all making me crazy and surprisingly sad.
So, I'm watching Camp Rock
I sent the text biting my lip. It was four days later and I had no idea where we stood. We went four days with not speaking more than some basic 'how was your day' texts and it was making me go crazy in my head. At least I've had work to take my mind off things, but it wasn't really helping.
After partly getting over the event of hearing Priyanka calling Nick to bed, my mind kept racing around that night. How aroused I was, how sexy Nick looked. How he had control over me, even though he was far, far away. How sensitive I was and what unknown things I've felt.
Not that I could fully let go of the wife thing. Feeling guilty was something I've never expected to come. Yet, as I kept thinking about Nick, about how much I wanted him, how he's been acting, the constant texts, phone calls, face times and opening up to each other, I couldn't help but feel guilt crawling into my bones.
He was married. Married to an amazing and beautiful woman. A woman loved by millions, fans shipping them all around the world. He's had a very public relationship, engagement and wedding to that woman. His family's welcomed her into their circle. Even though everything we've been doing seemed harmless, somehow I didn't feel like it was anymore. Not with sex being on the table, even if just as a conversation topic.
It clearly wasn't just a fan crush anymore. It started to turn into something real, with real things happening between us, even if just online, 6000 miles apart. I didn't know what to expect, what to hope, everything was making me feel crazy, especially the fact that we went days without a normal conversation.
I've missed his voice, his texts and it scared the shit out of me. I've never felt this about anyone, especially not someone like Nick. I don't know if it was the sex talk part of our relationship, or just the fact that for two months we were constantly connected to each other via our phones, but I missed him bad. So, I dug up my old fangirling ways and started watching one of the earliest programs I ever laid eyes on him: Camp Rock.
I or II?
2.
You started to be hot in this one.
started to?
I know you hate to hear it, but Joe was hotter than you back then
He didn't answer for minutes and I just started thinking that I shouldn't have said that when my phone buzzed again.
the only thing that matters is I'm hotter now
been hotter ever since the band went on a hiatus
I smiled at him not saying that the Jonas Brothers ended, but putting it as if it was just a hiatus. I knew he blamed himself, it was clear from interviews, even though he tried to play it cool. Always said that at least he got the band back together. But whenever we've talked about it, I could feel his guilt that was still there.
I don't know about that
Joe was so hot in See No More
is this a hint to give you my brother's number so you can stalk him?
I rolled my eyes at him. Even though I'd probably go into fangirl mode if he sent me Joe's number, he wasn't the Jonas I wanted to be connected to.
Don't worry
that damn shirtless selfie made you hotter
C'mon, we all know which selfie I was talking about.
I'm glad
Okay.
His answers were kind of short and emotionless. It's like he didn't want to talk, or he tried to keep the texting as short as possible. Any other time I would've assumed that he was with Priyanka, but now, thanks to us barely talking for days and what happened between us a few nights ago, plus almost getting caught, my mind was heading towards darker places.
Maybe this was it.
Maybe this should be it.
Maybe this was all he wanted. Some fun with a girl he was never going to see again.
Maybe now that it was risky for us to talk, he didn't want to do it anymore.
I wasn't going to push myself on him – not that I could really. If he wanted to talk, he'd text or call me. Otherwise I had to try and let this go. Not that this was going anywhere. He had a wife. We lived 6000 miles away from each other. He was Nick Jonas. Our lives weren't compatible, not at all.
I was just some girl, someone he passed the time while he was closed in his own home. Getting to know a stranger, that was interesting for the both of us. Maybe we mutually used each other to keep our minds off the current situation.
Anyway, I was a winner in this situation. I've gotten to know the Nick Jonas, the man that I've been a fan of since I was twelve. I got to learn things. I also understood better now who he was. And it wasn't just the 'Nick Jonas factor', it was also the fact that I've been talking to Nick. Just Nick. A regular boy. An amazing person. It was so worth it, even if this is it.
My stomach clenched when thinking about this being the end.
I didn't want that, I've gotten used to having him talk to me.
We went another three days with barely texting, and I was already mourning the relationship we've never even really had. I was like this at times, overthinking, letting go of things way too suddenly. I just couldn't really handle the feelings I was experiencing.
Being on my period didn't really help the case. It made my bad mood a thousand times worse.
By the time the weekend came, I was curling into fetal position on my couch, wallowing in my self-pity and thinking about how I've never truly appreciated that this was happening between us. It was like a shock, all happened so quickly and I just had to go with the flow. I was really thinking about letting go of Nick completely, like being so over-dramatic and unfollowing him on Instagram, but I couldn't make myself hit the 'unfollow' button. And, really, it was too much.
I was watching Gossip Girl, trying to get some comfort in my pain – both emotional and physical. Maybe it was a little exaggeration, but I was actually in a lot of pain. I felt more alone than ever, I wanted this coronavirus situation to finally be over, I wanted to see my friends and I wanted Nick. I would've given anything for a chance to hug him, or even, just to see his pretty face.
Yet, the moment my phone's screen lit up with his name, notifying me of an incoming call, I hit the decline button. Two minutes later, when he was calling again, I just let it ring.
I was cranky, I was whiny, I was hurting, and as much as I missed Nick, I was mad at him for ignoring me for so long.
The third time, it was a FaceTime call that I decided to ignore.
are you ignoring me?
I opened the text but left it on read. I just didn't feel it in me to communicate with him in any way. Not in my period pain, or the tiredness of the week. Not when my mind was in dark places.
so yes
Came the next text.
I won't leave you alone until you talk to me
I knew it wasn't just an empty threat. Nick definitely was the person to always get what he wants. This made me angry.
Not in the mood, Nick
what's wrong?
I scoffed and turned the phone facing down.
Nothing should've been wrong, yet I felt like everything was. I was having opposite feelings, part of me dying to hear Nick's voice and feel a bit better, the other part wanting to ignore him and let him go before he got even closer to me. He was already way too close.
My mobile buzzed with a few more text messages that I didn't even read, before he was calling me again.
'I need an answer Nick,' I shook my head. Hormones were making me go crazy, so the next moment I was on the verge of tears. 'Is it just fun for you? Just making this whole quarantine shit go away faster? I...'
'No, of course not. You know that I'm not someone who just plays around with people,' he replied instantly, almost as if he was shocked that I'd even imply that he was just using this whole thing for fun. 'C'mon, I've told you things about me that I never told anyone.'
'Then wh—, you're married,' I said. Saying the word 'married' caused me to wince. 'Whatever this is, it isn't right.' We both knew it wasn't. Even if it just started off as innocent texting, getting to know each other, when the sex talks and constant flirting began, it stopped being harmless. 'Maybe we shouldn't talk anymore.' One teardrop made its way down my cheek.
'Don't say that,' Nick said quickly. 'You don't mean that.'
I stayed quiet. I really wanted to mean it, I should've. It would've been the right thing to do. I bit my bottom lip as more and more tears started following the first one.
'Tell me what's wrong,' he asked after a few minutes of silence on the line. His voice was deep, caring, and I almost felt better as he spoke the words.
'I'm just so... alone,. I've just realized how much, when you didn't have time to talk to me, I guess,' I shrugged, drying some of my tears off. These last few days showed me how lonely I exactly was. I felt stupid, not realizing it earlier that just because we were talking with Nick, he still wasn't with me. 'Whatever, Nick, I don't want to burden you with this, you have more important prob—'
'Hey, hey, hey,' he cut into my words. 'You are never burdening me, okay? I want to know how you're feeling. What you're feeling.'
'Lonely. And... guilty.'
'Don't,' he said, and I could almost see how frustrated he was. 'Out of the two of us, you shouldn't be the one to feel guilty.'
'Do you?' I asked in a small voice.
'Yes. All the time.' His voice was firm, hones, yet somehow sensitive. 'But I also feel happy when I'm talking to you. Free. Like I can finally breath. You're like coming up for fresh air after almost drowning.'
Words. He was good with them. And they were just what my sensitive and tired soul needed to hear.
'That's very poetic, Jonas,' I said sarcastically, with a tiny smile playing on my lips. 'Almost like you're a songwriter or something.' I could her a soft chuckle from the other end of the line, and it made my heart melt. 'You know what would make me feel better?'
'What?' he asked instantly, his voice so soft.
'If my favorite Jonas Brother sang to me,' I asked sheepishly. Honestly, I have no idea why I haven't asked him before.
'I knew I was your favorite.'
A/N: Thank you so much for your feedback on the last chapter! I’m so glad that I’m not the only person liking this story.
Please share your thoughts with me! Where do you think it is going? Do you like it?

Ahhh the whole time I was watching the last 15 episodes of Take My Brother Away, I kept thinking about alternate universes (as I do). So, here’s a quick PacRim AU rundown, as it’s my go-to au. So. Many. Copilot options.
→Shi Siblings, who are an ace pilot team when they’re in sync but have the tendency to go nuclear at the drop of a hat. I imagine in a PacRim AU, with the sharing memories shtik, they would be much more in sync. Shi Fen would not be able to hide anything from Shi Miao, and while their initial neuro-links were quite tumultuous because of all the secrets that Fen’d kept from her (their father’s debts, the collectors destroying the house) and Miao’s lingering resentment towards him (the way he could smother her sometimes, how he tended to go full steam ahead with what he thought was best without consulting her) their co-dependency growing up means they’re already pretty well in-sync. It’s happened a couple times that one sibling has, somehow, become unable to pilot (unconscious, somehow injured) and the other has reliably guided their jaeger back to base, or lasted long enough for pickup. Their bond is intense. Despite the fact they were offered separate rooms upon reaching the Shatterdome, the siblings opted to share one instead. After missions it’s not uncommon to find them sharing a bed. (Jaeger Name: Radioactive Broker) →Best Bros: A rotating two person pilot (or three person pilot) jaeger piloted by Shi Fen, Zhen Kai Xin, and Wan Sui. It can either be rotating (Fen and Kai Xin, Sui and Fen, Kai Xin and Sui) or they can all three pilot. They’re best friends, though things can get a bit rough when something goes Not According to Plan- they have difficulty improvising if Fen isn’t in the jaeger, and unfortunately his go-to plan of crying does not sway kaiju. It can get a bit awkward considering both Kai Xin and Sui have mild crushes on Miao, and Fen is nothing if not protective of his sister, but they make it work. (Jaeger Name: Sanguine Sunrise) →Best Babes: Miao-Miao and Miao. They can be a bit of a hectic team- Miao grew up without a bunch of female influence and fighting with her brother where she didn’t have to apologize to know he forgave her. Miao-Miao forgives a lot but co-piloting taught them how to communicate better. It’s absolutely against regulation, but Miao-Miao and Miao have decked out the pilot pod with some cute tchatskis. They slip out of sync sometimes due to perceived faults (MM getting M caught in something of interest which causes M to hyper-focus and forget everything else, M upsetting MM by blowing up at her when frustrated with Fen) but they typically reconcile fairly quickly. (Jaeger Name: Pink Paladin) →Rivalmance: Miao and Weng Ke-ke. Could be explosive. Ke-ke is here to drive Miao to be better as her rival, even if they’re piloting a jaeger together. Miao has lingering desire and resentment towards Ke-ke’s former treatment of her. When they’re in sync they do well, but some petty resentment between them both remains. It doesn’t affect them when they’re fighting Kaiju, but once they’re out of the pilot pod all bets are off. (Jaeger Name: Tango Ace)
→Besties Besties: Miao-Miao and Kai Xin. The besties of the siblings. Who thought they’d get along so well in a jaeger? Not them! Kai Xin is happy to follow and Miao-Miao is actually good at taking the lead when necessary. She’s got mild gang connections in the background that give her a spine of steel, and Kai Xin has the athleticism to back up their odd duo. It’s definitely weird to see the height difference in this pilot pair. (Jaeger Name: Glory Warrior)
Wan Xing is a scientist, you cannot convince me otherwise. If she’s not a pilot, Ke-ke is also a scientist. It started out as a status symbol, of her intelligence being high enough to aid in the fight against kaiju, but when reality set in she quickly set herself to task. She remains a bit materialistic and absolutely pretty (just because she’s spending all day in the lab doesn’t mean she has to look like a slob!) but she gets down to work. She does, of course, still poke at Shi Miao. Can’t let that pilot go getting a big head!

My Top 11 Danganronpa Characters
I love many characters in the Danganronpa series, but these ones are truly the Ultimate.
Tumblr media
11. Monomi
Don’t get me wrong, Usami is a sweetheart and all, but on her own (as seen in DR2′s Island Mode) she’s pretty bland. While her forced conversion into Monomi caused her no end of grief in-universe, it made her a much stronger and more memorable character outside of it. Her interactions with Monokuma and position as his good counterpart / “little sister” are just perfect, as is the voicework done by Rebecca Forstadt. She, like her “big brother”, is iconic.
Tumblr media
10. Sakura Oogami
I may love Nekomaru and Gonta too, but neither of them hold a candle to the original “tall, muscular giant who looks scary as Hell but is actually the nicest, most loyal friend you could ever hope to have” in the franchise: Sakura Oogami. Her lower placement on this list is only because she kind of recedes into the background among the cast until the reveal at the end of Chapter 3 (which is fitting given the nature of that reveal), but once Chapter 4 centers around her she easily steals the show as a powerful, noble and tragic figure who is nonetheless such a beautiful human being that she successfully ends the Killing Game.
Tumblr media
9. Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu
A textbook case of a character you hate at the start and love by the end, Fuyuhiko’s development from a perpetually angry wannabe-thug who refused to be friends with his classmates and routinely threatened them with violence as a cover for his insecurities to a humble, honorable, brave, supportive team player was amazing to watch unfold, and Derek Stephen Prince sells it magnificently with his most touching performance since Ken Ichijoji . He may still be rough around the edges, but Baby Gangsta has always got your back.
Tumblr media
8. Byakuya Togami
If you merged Sherlock Holmes and Seto Kaiba, and in the process filtered out all of the redeeming qualities, you get Byakuya Togami: an elitist prick of the highest order who has a dangerous intellect to back up his ego. As despicable as Byakuya is, he is also fascinating: I both hate hanging around him due to his constant insults and love it because I’m drawn to watching him work as he displays just how well the Togami family-sponsored education has served him. He’s as useful as an ally as he is formidable as an enemy, and once he learns there are some things beyond his sociopathic grasp and that it’s best to stick with those who know it, he mellows out into a reliable anti-hero. So yeah, awful person, fantastic character.
Tumblr media
7. Chiaki Nanami
Hey, hey! Chiaki, as portrayed in DR2 anyway, is such a lovable character, at first seeming like an anti-social girl who would rather play video games and sleep than converse with people, but steadily revealing just how big a heart she really has and what a great friend she is once she connects with someone. As naive and weird as she is, she quickly picks up on things once she learns them, and is consistently one of the most perceptive people to have around in a class trial. And just when it seems like she’s becoming a tad too perfect to be realistic, we find out that she isn’t real and suffer one of the biggest emotional gut-punches in the series as she is cruelly taken away from us...except that even then, the bond she and Hajime forged is strong enough to keep her digital spirit alive within him. And Christine M. Cabanos brings it all home with her vocal performance. Chiaki, we will never forget you.
Tumblr media
6. Nagito Komaeda
Who would have thought that a guy who at first seems like a weird, equally bland retread of Makoto from the original would end up being one of the franchise’s most famous characters? But it’s super easy to see why - when he shows his true colors it is bone-chilling, and the creepiness factor that Nagito brings with him only keeps on growing from there, as he shows how far he’s willing to go in order to create despair just so that hope can triumph over it. The story of DR2 would not nearly work as well as it does without Nagito in the role of the arch-antagonist for the other characters, all while he develops as a character too in a deliciously negative way which ends up culminating in what is probably the best class trial in the series.
Tumblr media
5. Celestia Ludenburg
In a mystery-solving game like Danganronpa, Celestia honestly stands out as one of the most complex characters because she herself is a mystery. The game doesn’t really spell out her backstory, motivations or character arc given that as the Queen of Lies she has to keep a poker face about all that, but does allow the player to decipher it by themselves. While those unwilling to indulge their minds write her off as “crazy evil gambler lady who just wants money in order to become a vampire queen”, the people who pay attention to everything she says and does across the game (including / especially in her FTEs) can separate the truth from the lies and uncover the sad, pitiful reality of the character, a reality that haunts her all the way to her final moments. Call her Celeste or call her Taeko, that kind of depth deserves respect.
Tumblr media
4. Gundham Tanaka
That’s right, my favorite DR2 character isn’t Monomi or Fuyuhiko or Chiaki or even Nagito - it’s GUNDHAM TANAKA! This man is a fucking legend, with Chris Tergliafera’s voice-acting perfectly capturing how endearing he is with his persistent delusions of villainous grandeur. But as funny as Gundham may be, he ends up not being a purely comic relief figure, playing a serious, emotional and noble role at the end of his run that gets me and many other players choked up. He may play at being evil, but in actuality Gundham is too good for this Earth.
Tumblr media
3. Junko Enoshima
Do I need to explain myself here? It’s Junko fucking Enoshima! One of the most unique Big Bads in recent video game history! From the fact that the ultimate evil is a teen fashionista to the bizarre way she keeps changing her personality just to keep from getting bored to her ungodly despair fetish that has no rational basis for existing but simply does, Junko is less like a human being and more like a force of nature: gleeful, nihilistic despair incarnate. And though it’s true that she wore out her welcome past DR2, in her prime she is magnificent.
Tumblr media
2. Kyoko Kirigiri
As far as I’m concerned, Kyoko Kirigiri is the real main character of the original Danganronpa. Makoto is just the POV character; the Watson to her Holmes. And what a character she is; truly one of the greatest female detectives in all of fiction. What I love best about Kyoko is what a unique take on the Emotionless Girl / Ice Queen trope she is. It’s made clear quite frequently that she isn’t really emotionless and that she’s just really good at masking her feelings as a necessary part of her job, and that this doesn’t stop her from being a kind and compassionate person toward others in her own straight-faced way. The narrative doesn’t condemn her for the way she is and she doesn’t have to change it either; what she has to change is her distrust toward others and reluctance to rely on friends, plus her hypocrisy regarding that and her personal goal vs. everyone else’s. It makes her such a rich, nuanced character and I love her for it (fuck the Danganronpa 3 anime though, it did her so dirty).
Tumblr media
1. Monokuma
I think I’ll just conclude this post with a screencap:

BIOGRAPHY
the following biography page contains the following: abortion mention, underage partying.
read at your own risk.
she was born in the 90′s, in the midst of europop and grunge. and yet, evelyn was born into what she would later feel to be a very boring situation — two scientists working at syracuse university who were on the cusp of their forties. besides her parents, she has one older brother who is seven years his junior, which caused a bit of a power struggle in her childhood. from a very young age, she felt the weight of filling shoes that were too big for her. never seeing her parents fail openly in front of her caused the girl to have an enormous weight of pressure as soon as grades started mattering in middle school. the pressure didn’t just come from her parents, either. as evelyn was coming into her own, her brother was there every step of the way to push her confidence back down. always under the guise of ‘playing around’ and ‘just teasing’, her self worth quickly eroded until he moved out when she was fourteen.
which lead to the mess that was her high school experience. it wasn’t long before she realized she didn’t have a knack for school and her wilted self worth was convincing her that she never will. eventually, she found comfort in online forums and social network platforms, often friending complete strangers, which later evolved into coming across profiles of people in the nyc underground nightclub scene. from this, these profiles soon became her closest friends and the people she felt truly understood her the most. so of course, by the time she was able to drive, she decided to sneak out on the weekends to new york city and meet these people.
and, truthfully, it wasn’t bad. at first. they were very welcoming and supportive, and always knew where to go to have the chaotic night they all wanted. they helped evelyn score a fake id (though, to their knowledge, she was nineteen, never realizing she was sixteen the whole time) and eventually helped score her smaller drugs like weed. but after having weed and later trying pills, the teenager kept craving more and more, wanting to both escape and feel closer to the music, the people, everything, more more more. which is where things got rough.
first off, it was inevitable that her parents would find out as evelyn was never good with lying. she would tell them she’s going to nyc to network or some bullshit, she would come home the next day clearly looking wrecked, her parents would yell at her, take her car away too. but she’d always find a way back to the city on the weekends. when she wouldn’t come home for days? and even miss days of school? yeah, they were starting to worry the fuck out. also because, evelyn stopped coming home one weekend. she didn’t answer her parents’ messages and truthfully, she felt like she’d be happy never returning back to her old life. which is why she moved in with her club boyfriend at the time at seventeen.
it was a mature decision for sure, but very reckless. and the severity of the situation did not hit her until a year later, when she realized she missed her period. and she wanted to get an abortion, definitely, but honestly a part of her thought maybe this was the plan for her life. that this would give her structure, force her to grow up a bit, and her boyfriend had surprisingly been supportive at this point; the two still being in the honeymoon phase a whole year later. so, at 3:04am on december 3rd, 2014, her beautiful boy charlie was born. and at 8:32pm on july 26th, 2016, her boyfriend left. apparently deciding to spend some time in thailand to ‘figure his shit out’. must be fucking nice.
it stabbed her to her core that this person, who helped define her recent years, was suddenly gone and she had to raise his child all alone at twenty. the bone-crushing pressure she was so successful at escaping for years returned in full again and she wasn’t able to handle it. she decided to contact her ex-boyfriend’s parents, knowing calling her own for advice was not an option and recognizing that the child would grow up in a more emotionally and financially stable environment with them. and since that day, his parents has been charlie’s legal guardians. though, evelyn still makes a trip to the upper east side every weekend to see him.
WANTED CONNECTIONS / OTHER
i have a page HERE with like four ideas but lets def plot and figure out our own thing too ayooo <3
also lmk if you want me to give you a rundown of the bio since it’s long :~)

Your comment about Steve being good at triage and having a tendency to speak aloud, coupled with his ability to take care of people, makes me want to see him grow up to be a nurse or teacher.
Aw, yeah, schoolteacher Mr. Harrington is an adorable concept. But also, man…with Jonathan going full field medic in that Starcourt plaza…y’know maybe there is a world somewhere, the Kitty Corner to the Upside Down, where Enemies-to-Friends Steve and Jonathan are like, a pair of scrappy healers out at the battlefront in humanity’s fight against the Demigorgons and whatnot.
Actually, I find this “male softness: feature not a bug” trend a pretty great outcome in Stranger Things’ depiction of male characters. I mean, once you take it as fact that this show is a more interested in male characters than female characters—(I don’t know if I agree with claims that the female characters are necessarily any less developed than the male characters, because I think you will find that many of the boys aren’t that developed either, but in a strictly numbers game the girls are just outmanned, pun intended)—given that, what does this show then say about its male characters?
And you know, I wager it’s saying: ‘BE GENTLE’. That a male tendency toward empathy and caregiving is greater in younger generations, and that this is good, and to be cherished and encouraged. And that this is also the surest way to be a Hero.
Sure I’ll back myself up: The boys, the Party, are almost immediately defined by taking in and providing care to a weird half feral kid they find in the woods, and since these are arguably our central characters, this behavior is modeled as that of Good Male Protagonists. If you are a kid watching this show and you want to be like these brave Stranger Things boys, you need to take care of the vulnerable, give them blankets and Eggos. And if you want to be like the most fiercely brave of them, Will and Mike, you also need to love just as fiercely, wear your heart right on your little windbreaker sleeve. And in the next age group up, the valorization of male tenderness continues. Jonathan was depicted as a natural caregiver toward his brother from the start, another sweet Byers boy always making breakfast for his family, but Steve is where it gets interesting. He started revealing the compassionate heart and protective instincts hidden under that hair at the end of the first season, but it wasn’t until he became Babysitter Steve in the second season that he became not only a breakout fave, but a breakout hero, and once again: through exhibiting empathy and caregiving. Even domesticity—in Stranger Things, heroes do not wear capes, they wear dishtowels slung over their shoulder.
I think you know what’s coming up next, and if not you’re probably who needs this Season 3 Spoiler Warner for who we’re turning to now: Hopper, our exception that proves the rule. The next age group up, and the furthest away from the gentle heroic male ideal. If we thought early days Steve was so…like a man, hoo boy, have you met Hopper? Although I’ve always thought it was notable how Chief Hopper consistently throws his gruff, dismissive, Big Male power around on behalf of women and children, against other aggro men, he remains distinctly less caring and open with his feelings than the other male characters. Listen, I still love Hopper despite it all, but he can be a real asshole. He steamrolls over people, and his protection has an unfortunate tendency to lean toward controlling instead. All this makes him less reliably good, even sometimes shifting him into an ANtagonist role—our anti-hero. The third season in particular really saw this slide, but by the end it seemed like a shape had come together: this was Hopper’s last hurrah, the most blustering and inconsiderate he’s been this series, coupled with the most purely heroic thing he could do. Ultimately, Hopper sacrifices himself for the others, taking his brand of hard heroism with him, and leaving the stage to Stranger Things’ new generation of boy: the Soft Hero.

The Characters • Day 1 •  Day 2  • Day 3
After getting out of Jimin's room, Deo walked in a fast pace back to her dorm. Hyori had been texting her non-stop and she was sure she wasn't sleeping yet. It wasn't like her at all. She would want to know every last bit of detail of what had happened in that room and Deo would innocently tell her only to regret it the second right after when she saw Hyori's smirk. The smaller girl already knew what was going through her roommate's mind and she wasn't in the mood for sharing. Not that Hyori minded. She had a whole elaborated plan on her mind already, focused on making her friend see the supposed love she had for the art boy. It was obvious to Hyori so it should be like that to everyone else.
The next morning, when Deo woke up Hyori was already long gone. She was used to that by now. Every morning the girl would wake up a couple of hours earlier to do some jogging. That and to watch the sunrise as she took some sips from her first coffee of the day. Nearby, a cafeteria started beeping signaling coffee was ready to be served and Jin finished taking the last slices of bacon off the pan onto his plate when a sleepy Carolina swooped it right from his hand with a lazy smile spread across her face.
"Hey!!!" Jin screamed at her. "That's my breakfast!" He said making Carolina let out a chuckle.
"Why do you need two plates then?" She asked already sitting down, fork in hand ready to dig in.
"Sure thing captain hook." Jin laughed as he noticed she had her right eye closed, sleepiness and the brightness that came from the window being too much to handle at the moment.
"Arrrgggh!" She pulled up her sleeve long enough to cover up one of her hands and she let out the pirate scream.
The two were a handful to deal with. Especially in the morning. And their friends were well aware of it. Considering everything, it would be very hard for any of the two to find such a good housemate as they were to each other. Jin was a quirky guy to say the least and Carolina was even worse so joining the two together you would get the most random interactions ever. Including Jin's curiousness for bras and their engineering, to Carolina's habit of enjoying to walk around naked and meditating at 3 am with her head hanging from the couch and her legs pointed up to the ceiling. Nonetheless, they were great friends.
Another person that was always fun to be around was Hoseok. He was the life of the party. No, saying that is insulting his whole persona. He was the life of everything. Everywhere he went, people knew and appreciated him and he was always happy. When he wasn’t, chaos was about to happen. But today, he woke up feeling more excited than usual. He was going to skip his first period to have breakfast with his sister.
They had this tradition for a long time. As a kid, Hoseok considered his sister his best friend, she was a bit older than he was yes, but he knew there was no one else in the world that would get him like she does. When she flew to America to study fashion design he was the one who took it the hardest. So after the first year of college she flew back to Korea and convinced the entire family to move back with her when she returned for her second year. Ever since then, on the second Wednesday of the month, Hoseok and his sister would always have breakfast on a cafe nearby. The distance was exactly the same from the house to it and from the University.
"Jaz~~" Hoseok called out as soon as he laid eyes on his sister that was sitting in one of the corner booths. He was always divided between the sunny window and the comfort of the wall sofa. "No sun today huh?" He asked, after giving her a kiss on the forehead as a hello.
"Honestly, since we moved here I can't even remember how pale I used to be." She joked. She loved heat and the beaches.
As soon as the waitress spotted Hoseok sitting at the booth, she started walking in their direction, although she could already guess what they would order. "Good morning Peg, how are you?" Hobi greeted her with a huge smile.
"Hey Hun." She smiled to the boy. "Is it the usual or you're up for a change?"
"The same, as always." Jazmine, that used to be Jiwoo decided to change her name as she opened her first store 'Jazzy'. She conquered many achievements but now she had a new challenge and she wanted her brother to help.
"These here," she said, pulling up a big pile of papers off of her bag and onto the table "I need you to spread them around campus." She bat her eyelashes unnecessarily, Hoseok was already picking up one of the papers and examining it. 'Model needed for fashion show'
"Can I model?" He asked excited. He was proud of his sister's clothesline.
"Of course you can. I already did one just for you, but I need more. Boys and girls and since you're so..." she searched for the right word "popular around campus, I'm sure you'll find the right people."
"I'll do my best!" He placed his arm up to his head, saluting as if she was his captain. The food came right after and they started digging into their plates, not having space for conversation. The only sounds pronounced were "hums" and "woow" from how good the food tasted.
Carolina was tired of hearing her tummy growl despite the hotel breakfast like she had just a couple hours ago so it was time to take a little pause from her soundtrack class. The teacher wasn't teaching anything new to her so an hour or so away wouldn't hurt much. She could already take this path with her eyes closed. Turning left, go down two flights and then left again and she was at the bar. She ordered her usual chocolate cupcake and climbed up the stairs again to her usual broom closet.
"What? Do you need a broom?" The guy asked as soon as she opened the door, arching his brow as he exhaled the smoke from his cigarette.
"Yes, it's witching hours already" Carolina said with a smirk on her face.
"That's not the usual look for a witch. I guess times were good to your kind."
"Should I presume you're the artist behind all those drawings?" Carolina asked pointing to her drawings and its correspondence.
"Yeah I am. I was just finishing up answering you." He says with a smirk more guessing than saying but by the intrigued look on Carolina's face he was more than certain that he was right.
"I think this is the part where I ask your name then." She said in a cool tone but too intrigued on the inside.
"I'm Ben. Ben Hayes. And you?" He put out his hand for her to shake.
"Carolina," She crossed her arms, eyeing him up. "Jones"
"And what are you doing here Carolina Jones? Shouldn't you be in class?" He said in a mocking tone.
"Shouldn't you?" She raised her eyebrow.
The truth was that Ben indeed had somewhere to be. He had been hired for a couple of weeks now to be the substitute for Miss Finning, the professor of Arts and History. He already knew he was not going to be hired. He had been jumping schools ever since he finished his degree but he never got to maintain his position. He started off in Liverpool, his hometown, then moved to London, travelled to the USA and taught in Michigan, Chicago, Houston and now LA. So he was more than certain he wasn't to stay here either.
"I don't think that's any of your business is it?"
"Then I could say the same, Ben Hayes." She winked at him but she was still standing still.
"But are you going to stand there or sit down? I won't bite unless you ask me to." He winked back with his blue-ish/grey-ish eyes, tapping on one of the boxes next to him.
"You shouldn't go around saying such things you know..." She sat down. "Someone might ask you to... someday" she says more in a whisper.
"And I'll be more than ready to attend to their needs, trust me." His british accent rang through her ears, making her almost have goosebumps. "But do you want to stay here or do you wanna go somewhere else? I have a break between classes and I could use your company."
"I don't know... How am I gonna be sure that your 'more than ready' is indeed reliable? Cause you know, I can't just skip being here in peace for something that isn't true..." Carolina teased.
"Do you need a test drive then?"
"I don't ever say no to free testing." Ben's arm that was already wrapped around her, pulled her closer and Carolina took no time to react and grab him by the collarbone of his shirt, kissing him hard. The kiss was sloppy and full of tension and their hands were touching everywhere they could to ease their hunger.
"Shall we?" He asked with a smirk on his face, parting from the kiss and nodding towards the door.
Noon came pretty soon and the sun was hitting hard, summer was starting to creep in through spring and everyone was starting to gather they lunches, including Hyori. She only had time to have a sandwich with Hoseok before grabbing her book and finding a good spot in the lounge area. She sat down in a table of four, the only one that was available and took her books out. She was too nervous for her own liking, she tried to take down some notes from the class she just had but it was in vain, her mind was rushing through a million of things, making thousands of scenarios in her head.
"Hey Hyori, have you been here long?" Jeonghan sits down besides Hyori, with a smile on his face, scaring her a little. She was too busy in her thoughts to even notice him coming.
"Hi Jeonghan! No, I just got here!" She smiles to him, trying not to show how nervous she really is.
"Should we start studying our biology? I-I mean just biology! Not ours, everyone's." Jeonghan says and then laughs embarrassed. She laughs alongside him, noticing his cute smile. He was also very nervous.
"Sure, let's do it! Do you usually study just by reading or do you like to talk about it?"
"Talking. It gets stuck in my mind longer!"
"Same for me" Hyori giggles. "Before we start though I have a question…" This had been bugging her ever since the first text they exchanged.
"What is it?" He tilts his head to the side, curious, as he stares at her.
"You're pretty smart yourself… so why would you want to study with me?" She pauses for a moment and then continues, trying to explain herself better. "Don't take me wrong! I'm glad we're studying together!!" She adds, with a blush creeping up on her cheeks.
"I think it's pretty obvious... You are top of the class and I mean... you're very pretty so I just needed an excuse to talk to you." Just like her, he was super embarrassed but he wanted her to know what he really felt, even thought that meant he had to be a little awkward and upfront.
"You're shyer than I thought you would be" She laughs, trying to ease up the mood. "And thank you, if it means something I think very high of yourself too." A proud smile showed up in his face and his whole body warmed up.
"So if we're in a time of being honest... I think I should tell you I came here to do more than studying." He turns his body in his seat so that he is completely facing her. He was holding up his breath and he didn't even realized but he was a man on a mission now. He continued to lean in into her and he could already feel her breath when...
"Oh! There you are guys!" Asa, a cute pale boy with the brightest blue eyes is rushing up to then, holding his backpack just by one strap on his left shoulder. "I thought you did study sessions in the library!" He smiles, totally clueless of the situation that was going on.
"Oh- Hi! Hm- Who…?" Hyori asked, breathless, while nervously looking between both boys.
"This is Asa. He's my roommate." Jeonghan says, with a big frown on his face.
"Hi! I heard a lot from you Hyori!" Asa says as he sits down across the table from them and can't help but wink at the girl.
"So are we studying or not?" Jeonghan asked, clearly upset that Hyori's attention was now divided.
"Yes! Of course!" She opened her manual on the marked page. "Are you… from our class? I never saw you there." She eyed Asa.
"Oh no!" He said chuckling. "I heard from Jeong here you were giving lessons and I always wanted to know more about biology!" He said as honest as he could be, making Hyori open up a big smile.
"Well you're always free to contact me, I love biology and I love teaching so…"
"I'll make sure to hold you to that! You will want to get rid of me in no time." He joked, making her laugh but before she could reassure him, Jeonghan spoke again.
"Can we study? Some of us have exams to prepare for!"
"I highly doubt it! And yes sorry-" She couldn't help but tease Asa one last time before turning to Jeonghan and squeezing his arm. "Ok, everyone on page 70?"
"Oh I don't have a book, can we share one?" Asa said sheepishly.
"Have mine, I can see from yours?" Jeonghan said to Hyori almost immediately throwing him his book.
"Yes sure!" Hyori let a shy smile as she felt Jeonghan pull his chair closer to hers.
As it was usual on Wednesdays, Jimin and Taehyung would always eat together. This Wednesday it ended up being McDonald’s. They decided to do this every week ever since they moved into their dorms and realized neither one of them really knew how to cook. They would always order individual menus, but ended up having bites out of each other’s food; because Jimin’s wrap looked too good and fresh and because Tae’s bacon was just asking Jimin to take a huge bite.
Right now, it was almost 4 in the afternoon and Jimin was going to have football practice. They were walking together in silence, they knew each other for too long to have to always keep a conversation; in some, they enjoyed the silence time they’d have from time to time. But Jimin kept sighing and Taehyung knew something was wrong, he was just making his friend hurt a little before giving him love.
“I have a problem and I need to talk to you about it. Ask me what’s going on.” Jimin mostly cried, putting his full weight on Tae’s shoulder like he had just fainted.
“Ahhh” Taehyung said in an annoyed tone, followed by a chuckled, before pushing his friend back to his place. “Just start talking! Why are you always like this?!”
“Are you going to be a good friend or just complain?” He faked a pout before laughing right after, seeing Tae’s side look. “I’m nervous about the game this week. We have to win or we’ll drop down to 3rd place and that’s not nothing something we can afford right now... plus I have an exam of history of contemporary dance on Monday and I don’t think I’ll have time to study.”
“Look... I don’t think you need to worry.” Taehyung started off confident but genuine. “You are a pretty good quarterback, that’s why they chose you to be it. You'll do just fine, don’t overthink about that. Your body will remember everything once you’re on the field you know?” He squeezed Jimin’s shoulder and then proceeded. “About the exam... I can help? I know a few things so maybe we can just revise it before you go to sleep? I can stay up and read it to you?” Taehyung would do anything to help Jimin, especially if it was about something he cared about. Even when he was little, he used to stood up to boys who tried to be mean to Jimin even if he was scared to death of them.
“But what about the party?!”
“What party?” Taehyung asked. Was there a party he wasn’t invited for?
“The volley’s team is playing home. I'm sure there’ll be a party even if they lose, which I doubt. It’s an easy game.” Jimin said, thinking of what Jungkook had said at lunch the day before. He was confident they would win the game by far. “If we go to the party we can’t study.”
“Oh... It’ll be a pity if we lose the party, right?” Taehyung let an ‘huh?’ “Maybe... we can just not sleep and try to get all that history in your head?” He suggested but the look on his face wasn’t too confident. It wasn’t a party if they didn’t get completely hammered.
“I’m screwed.” Jimin said after a few minutes of ponderation, letting out again another sigh. “Might as well go out with a bang, right?” He shrugged and they walked a bit more. But then the thought of his parents came to his mind and all the effort they had done for him, he couldn’t let them down and lose his scholarship. “Maybe I should find a job? To help my parents?”
“You know you wouldn’t even be able to tend to your basic needs if you did that... you’re already all packed!” Taehyung said worried.
Jimin’s family wasn’t loaded, but they’d always lived well. His dad worked as an accountant for many years now and he reached a point where he was making a lot of money, so much so that his mom even quitted her job. They even found a house in one of the nicest neighborhoods, that’s how him and Taehyung were friends, they were front neighbors and they would play every day. Them and Carolina, but she wasn’t very fond of Jimin and he never quite understood why. But a couple of years back, the company for whom Jimin’s dad worked had a crisis and they had to let go more than half of their employees. Luckily, Jimin’s dad wasn’t one of them but it was getting hard for him to sustain an entire family on his back. That was one of the reasons he had to stay on campus. That and because both him and Taehyung wanted to have the “full college experience”.
“Did they tell you something? Maybe I could like find a job and help you out?”
“Not really. I talked to my mom yesterday and she said my dad had been working late. They're threating to fire a couple of people so he’s been doing some extra hours to not be part of the ones who will be fired.” Jimin said in a sad tone that Taehyung picked up right away.
“I’m sure your dad will be fine! He’s a good worker! And like I said, if you need me to help, I can help you. I'll look for some part times next to our dorm.” And he already knew Jimin wouldn’t be capable of ever asking him to but he would still look, just in case his friend needed help.
“It’s ok Tae, but thank you.” Jimin squeezed his shoulder and that meant he was grateful for everything his friend would do for him. Taehyung gave him a sweet smile.
They kept on walking, talking about some random things that would pop into their minds. That was until Jimin stopped on his track, furrowing his eyes as if he was trying to see someone and Taehyung did the same, trying to look in the same direction he was.
“I know that girl…” Jimin trailed off. “Oh, that’s Jean from my class. Hey Jean!” He walked up to her, followed right after by Taehyung. She was leaning against a tree, a book in hand.
“Oh hum… hey… Jimin.” She started off shy. She wasn’t even aware he knew of her existence.
“Are you alone?” He asked and she simply nodded.
“Oh is that Free?” Taehyung sneaked out of Jimin’s back, seeing the manga the girl was reading.
“Yeah, I just started reading it.”
“Woah!” He said excited. “I didn’t know there is a manga for it, I only know the anime.” Taehyung said while peaking over to see the pages.
“You should try it then, it’s even better than the anime for now.” She smiled politely to him.
“I will!”
“We’re headed to the field, wanna come?” Jimin said as he pulled his bag up his shoulder.
“Oh no… thank you anyway!”
“Well, I’ll see you in class then!” Jimin waved off, starting to walk back to the field.
“Bye Jean!”
“What are you going to do now?” Jimin asked, noticing they were just a couple of feet away from the field.
“I’m going to lie down there.” Taehyung pointed towards the bleachers where a couple of cheerleaders were already sitting down. “Imma watch you play and I'll take some photos to remind you how great you look.”
“Ah~~!” Jimin let out an overexaggerated sigh, his hands over his heart. “You are my best friend, you know that!”
“I know, I'm the best.”
The boys parted ways. Jimin went into the locker room to change into his uniform and Taehyung took out his camera, ready to take some shots. The cheerleaders were all gathered, sitting in a circle going over the routine for this game and he noticed Deo, from the night before. Their eyes met for a couple of seconds before she looked away, turning her attention to what some other girl was saying. Soon the boys got out of the facilities, helmets under their arms and walked straight to the coach. It didn’t take long for Taehyung to fall asleep. His tummy was still kinda full from lunch and the sun was just making everything better. He was warm and the hard wood from the bleachers didn’t seem so bad so he just laid down, taking up 5 spaces. He woke up a couple of hours later, with Jimin shaking him up, laughing hard. ‘Oh man, your forehead, no bandanas for you for a couple of days.’ And as soon as he touched his forehead, he hissed. Did he really had to keep his arm all over his face BUT miss his forehead, no luck.
On the other side of the campus, the study session got a little bit calmer after Hyori started explaining everything the best way she could and Asa was trying his best to pay attention but it was hard. Even harder for Hyori, who kept on laughing at his jokes and interventions. Jeonghan was regretting ever telling his roommate about his plans for the afternoon but he couldn't just kick him out, at least not in front of Hyori. After a while, Hyori's phone kept on beeping and she just had to excuse herself from what she was teaching Jeonghan to take a look at it.
"Guys, the study session is great and I wish I could stay more but it's getting late and I promised my friends I would have dinner with them…" She pouted a little. "You guys mind if I go?"
"Of course!" They both said at the same time.
"Kiri I'll be waiting for our next study session!" Asa says getting up, mimicking Hyori's movements.
"Stop being annoying!" Jeonghan whispered to him, widening his eyes to Asa.
"Please do!" She laughed to Asa, not even noticing Jeonghan's face. "It was really nice to meet you Asa. Thank you, you two for today, I had a good time" She smiled kindly to the both of them, giving a kiss in the cheek to each one of them. "Bye guys~ See you around!"
“Dude what the hell!” Jeonghan slapped his roommate’s head, annoyed that he ruined his little date.
“What did I do?!” Asa scratched the place where he was hit, still looking at Hyori fade in the distance.
Hyori was hugging her books so tight; she kept her eyes on the floor, overly excited by her study session and was trying her best to steady her breathing. She already knew she was going to get teased for being late, something she never did and always complained when Jungkook was. Her pace her face and she as a hole bumped into a tall boy that quickly apologize. She did the same.
Namjoon kept on looking at her as she walked a little too fast. His heart tightened a bit, did he hurt her when they bumped into each other? He was so focused on going over his speech for debate club on his head that he didn’t even noticed where he was going. That and the fact that tonight’s debate was against Najma Aweys. She was this pretty girl who was majoring in English Lit and she caught his eyes ever since his first debate against another college. That was the moment he first noticed her.
His dad was nagging his head for over a month now because the semester was almost over and he still didn’t have any extracurricular activities to add to his resume alongside his perfect record of attendance and grades. So tired of hearing him, he joined the debate club and the president was so impressed by his arguments that he was invited to join the regional contest.
He remembers that day perfectly. He was so nervous he was afraid the sweat was going to be noticeable on his armpits since the air-conditioner wasn’t working and it was almost 38°C. Najma was wearing a soft blue flowy dress that fitted her curves perfectly and made her look almost like a princess but once she started talking and disarming her opponent, that was when it really hit him. He was crushing on her.
“Hey Najma!” He waved at her as he saw her talking outside the debate club with her girlfriends. “Nice suit.” He winked as she smiled politely to him.
“Hey Nam!” It was her nickname for him.
He was too awkward to have a full conversation with her, the only thing he always managed to do was these small interactions. And to him, it was better than nothing. Jin would always tease him about having to make a move 'Dude if she has a nickname for you that means something. Who knows more about girls than me?’ and that would always make Carolina laugh and tease him about how even the clueless Tae was smoother than himself, the old timer.
Hyori was now jogging. The café that was only a couple of minutes away from campus seemed like it was miles away and she was getting frustrated for being late. Even Jungkook was already there. She stopped when she saw the sign right around the corner and she turned it, all her friends were sitting outside, in a table that clearly wasn’t made for 5 people but they were all squeezing in to be together. Once they noticed her, everyone stopped talking just to pick it up right back, but now directed to her.
“Oh look who finally decided to show up!”
“There she is!”
“Can we eat now? I’m starving!!”
“Sorry I’m late!” Hyori said trying to catch her breath from all the jogging but still making her best to look normal.
“And where have you been to be this late?” Jungkook put up his wrist tapping on it like he had a watch there and his left eyebrow was arched. This was the perfect moment for him to excuse himself from all the times he was late and nag Hyori.
“None of your business.” The girl said taking a seat on the end of the table, right between Deo and Jimin.
“Is everything ok?” Hoseok asked, honestly concerned.
“What do you mean none of my business?” Jungkook stepped all over Hobi’s question. “I always have to tell you where I was!”
“And that’s because you’re a child.” Deo teased, sticking her tongue out making Jungkook scoff and make some comment about not knowing why they were even friends. The only thing he wasn’t doing yet was pouting.
“Jungkookie, we’re your best friends, stop being grumpy.” Jimin said, squeezing the boy’s shoulder.
“Everything is fine Hobi, just took me a while to get here.” Hyori smiled to the boy that was on the other end of the table, completely ignoring Jungkook.
“Where were you then missy?” Deo asked again, since Hyori had managed to escape the question.
“I was on the library studying! I lost track of time! Oh~” she looked around to the plates of some boys that were already ready to be ate. “What are you guys eating?
“I ordered some fries! With cheese on top.” Hobi said proudly, looking at his dish.
“Pizza, but don’t- I need to know!” Deo whined.
“Of course she wasn’t in the library” Jungkook rolled his eyes, joining Deo and folding his arms to give his sentence more impact. “No one loses track of time in a library.”
Hyori gave Deo a knowing look that she understood right after. It meant ‘please shut up I’ll tell you everything at the dorms’. “Well that’s because you have no braincells.” she finally answered Jungkook.
“And it depends on what you’re doing there.” Jimin teased.
“Are you serious?” Jungkook pretended a hurt look. “Woah… I should find new friends.”
“Oh stop you two! Let’s just eat!” Hobi said, tired of waiting to eat his chips that were getting cold.
“She started it!” Jungkook whined, making everyone laugh.
“It’s ok, I’ll ask for a round for us Gguk!” Jimin whispered to the boy.
“Shut up virgin boy.” Hyori furrowed her eyebrows making Deo automatically spit her drink, not being able to control her laughter.
“You’re going way too far, Lee!”
“Guys!” Hobi and Jimin both said at the same time, tired of hearing them.
“Ok kids, that’s enough.” Deo said standing up and pulling Hyori right behind her. “We’re going to order her food.”
“Bring beer!”
“Don’t forget my sprite!”
“On it!” Hyori said winking to Hobi. Once they stepped inside the door Deo started asking a million questions.
“So~~ you’ll tell me now or you’re going to make me suffer and wait until we get to the dorms?”
“Please don't do a scandal, and I'll tell you better once we are at the dorms but basically I was with Jeonghan but a friend of his arrived and sat there with us and he was like the cutest” she emphasized a lot in the last word “I must have blushed like tons"
"You're still blushing, it looks like you ran a marathon" She chuckled, excited with her friend’s life. "But ok, serious face on but once we get to the dorms, you'll have to tell me everything!"
“I literally ran a marathon to get here!” They both laugh and the waiter finally comes.
Hyori orders a plain burger with fries, she’s not very hungry. And after all she ran if she ate a lot she’d probably throw up. They pay the drinks and the food and the waiter informs them the food will only take a couple of minutes and he’ll bring it to the table. Once they step outside, Jimin shushes the other boys.
"Oh yes, such nice weather here!" He says a little too loud, pretending nothing happened, but the girls were too smart not to notice their whispers.
"What do you think of the weather Jungkook?" Deo asks Jungkook, arching her eyebrow to him. Next to him, Hobi was looking up to the clouds, almost whistling, making his best to avoid eye contact.
“The weather?” His voice got up an octave. “Yup, super nice! We should go to the pool and uh… have a party?” His tone was nothing but confident and Deo couldn’t help but laugh at his silliness.
“Oh~~ we should really go to the pool!” Jimin said now excited with the thought of a swim. “Let’s go after we eat!”
“Ok cut the crap. The weather? Really?” Hyori said still standing up next to the table, one hand on her hip showing even more authority.
“It is a nice weather.” Deo joked.
Hyori arched her eyebrow and looked at Hoseok that immediately look everywhere but to her. “Hobi look at me.”
“Hey don’t force eye contact like that! You weirdo!” Jungkook said but she ignored him.
“Hum…” Hoseok trailed off, exchanging looks with the boys. “Sorry bro… basically there’s this new girl-”
He’s interrupted. “Dude what the fuck!” Jimin and Jungkook said at the same time and if it weren’t a desperate time, they would’ve high fived.
“Jimin likes her, she’s one year older than him and her name is Sarah. That’s all I know.” He lowered his head in defeat and then turned to Jimin. “Sorry!”
“DUDE BRO CODE!” Jimin said, frustrated.
“Wow, we can’t even talk in peace now.” Jungkook shrugged.
“Huh…” Deo started, “and you weren’t going to tell us!”
“Sorry! I’m an honest guy!” Hobi said, putting a chip right in front of Jimin’s mouth that he just couldn’t refuse.
“Oh please tell me all about her!” Hyori now sat down, waiting expectantly.
“See! They can help!” Hoseok added.
After that, Jimin was forced to spill all the details he had on the Sarah girl. He didn’t really know much but Hyori and Deo already were with their phones on their hands searching on social media for the girl. If she was majoring in Investigative Journalism, she had to have any form of social media, and if she did, they would find her. Jimin wouldn’t be able to hide the girl from them for a very long time and in a way he was glad Hobi spilled everything because although Jungkook loved a good gossip, he was terrible at getting information. By the end of the dinner, the girls already found out that Sarah was friends with one of the boys Hyori tutored and now it was only a matter of days until they started planning a super scheme to make her and Jimin talk. They were good friends like that.
Jungkook was the first to abandon the hangout because he had practice and he, obviously, didn’t have his bag done to shower. Once he got to his floor, the smell of barbeque filled his nostrils and he wasn’t walking anymore, he was more like floating, following the amazing smell. He ended up in front of his own door. Once he opened it, he saw Yoongi and Namjoon eating.
“Hey man.” Yoongi said once he noticed him.
“You want some?” Namjoon asked, turning around in his chair to see Jungkook.
“The smell in the hall… amazing guys.” He chuckled. “Thanks, but I have to say no, I have practice in a few.”
“This late?” Namjoon said already feeling sorry for the boy.
“Are you sure you can handle going to practice on an empty stomach?” Yoongi asked. He didn’t hang much with Jungkook but he liked to have him as a roommate. He was quiet, clean and he liked the same type of food as him.
“Yeah, we have a game Saturday and coach is going crazy with our practices. We’re even playing with the girls now.” He laughs lightly. “I ate like an hour ago. I’ll probably end up bringing something home.” He says turning to Yoongi that only nods.
“With girls? Like… girls in mini shorts?” Namjoon says already excited, the thought of joining the team, running through his mind.
“Wish it was that good bro.” Jungkook laughs dryly, tapping on his shoulder. “Most of them look like Hulk, they enter full beast mode.”
“Oh… that must be- uh… Nevermind.” He turns back to his food.
Yoongi couldn’t keep a straight face to Namjoon’s comment and laughed lightly. He heard rumors about a party and Jungkook confirmed it right away, inviting them to join after the game. They talked a little bit more about their crazy front door neighbor. It was an old lady, maybe in her 60’s and she acted like she was 20. Hell, she even lived near campus. Besides her, everyone in the building was a student. The new good story was that she was developing a crush on Namjoon. Every time she heard him leave the house, she would peek her head out of the door, with rolls on her hair and say ‘have a good day handsome’.
Jungkook excuses himself and goes inside his room, picking up his gym bag from the floor. He quickly shuffles through his clothes and picks up a random shirt and a pair of shorts, a towel and his flipflops. He crossed the living room, saying goodbye to the older boys that were finishing eating and left, towards the elevator.
“Oh hey Jin.” Jungkook said once the elevator’s door opened, revealing his neighbor from the top floor.
“Hey man, how are you?”
“It’s been a while since I last saw you. Since the photoshoot...” He recalled the moment they were together for the last time. It was a photography class and Carolina had brought Jin and Taehyung to model. Jungkook ended up befriending both boys and took photos of them as well.
“Ah~~” Jin lets out a satisfied sound, remembering that day as well. “It was fun and the shoots you took of me looked great.”
“If you ever need new ones hit me up.” They reach the ground floor and both exit the elevator, walking side by side until they leave the building completely.
“You have practice?” Jin asked, only now noticing Jungkook’s bag.
“Yeah, it’s in a few.”
“I can take you. I’m going out with a friend but it’s still early, I can drop you there.”
“I won’t say no to that. If I had to walk all the way back to campus I doubt I'd be able to score.” He chuckles. They got inside the car and it took Jin a while to start it. “Is everything alright?”
“Oh yeah, I'm just waiting for Carolina, she should be coming down any second. She has practice too.”
‘Oh boy’ Jungkook thought to himself. Carolina only frowned when she saw him but before she could say anything Jin told her to get in or else they would be late. She had to get into the backseat, very reluctantly and once they got to campus, she quicken up her pace to not even have to talk with the so called virgin boy. He honestly didn’t mind, after the last time they were together, things went south really fast.
The vibe was bugging Jin and he made a self-note to ask Carolina what had happened between the two but probably not today. He was going out with his friend Harry, a boy from his major that finished off last year but they maintained contact. If he didn’t get home very drunk, it wasn’t his friend Harry. But once he woke up, he would remember to ask.

How would you rank Riza's relationships by matter of emotional importance to her?
SEND ME A TOPIC TO WRITE A META ABOUT MY MUSE ONI might write anything from a paragraph to a whopping essay, but send me something you’ve noticed about my characterisation or just something you want to know about my muse and I will write what I can!@muses-of-kira
This was not an easy one to figure out! I went about making this list by looking at, one, the obvious, two, characters she interacted with a lot, three, main characters that people would want to know about, and four, characters that would make sense to think about.
So here’s the list!
1. Roy Mustang2. Berthold Hawkeye3. Maes Hughes4. Edward and Alphonse Elric5. Rebecca Catalina6. Jean Havoc7. Heysman Breda8. Vato Falman9. Kain Feury10. Winry11. Her Mother12. GrummanHonorable Mention: Black Hayate
And here’s the explanations!
1. Roy Mustang
We all knew that this was going to be her number one relationship in importance. Regardless of if you ship them or not, if you think they’ll ever officially get together or not, it’s obvious that they are integral to each other. Roy became her friend, her very best friend, when he was her father’s apprentice, he was who she trusted with flame alchemy, who inspired her to join the military, who broke her heart at his actions in Ishval, who she asked to take her burden from her, who gave her life and purpose after the war, who trusted her, and who’s goals she shares. They are so intertwined that it’s hard to see where one of them begins and one ends when it comes to emotion and trust. Riza would not be who she was without Roy, just as Roy would not be who he was without Riza. They are inseparable with each other. He is foundational to who she is, and of utmost importance in the day to day.
2. Berthold Hawkeye
No matter what you think of him, he was a huge influence in her life. I’ll have more in-depth headcanons in a later post, but I’ll give the basics here. He was her father. He was all she had. And she loved him. She wanted his approval and his love. And even after the tattooing, she still wanted his approval and love, even if she joined the military, which he wouldn’t have approved of. She was clearly still loyal to him, even when it was clear that he wasn’t the best father. A parent’s influence is huge in a child’s life, and, emotionally, he, and how he treated her, is of great emotional importance to her. He was part of the foundation that made her who she was.
3. Maes Hughes
More headcanons on this later, but Maes Hughes was probably the first friend that Riza had outside of Roy. He saw her, saw she needed someone, saw she knew Roy, and immediately stepped in. He made her feel welcome, and defended her too, when she needed it. He made himself a place in her life, and helped keep her grounded and loosened her up from time to time. Yes, she sometimes got annoyed by his antics, but she knew that his heart was always in the right place. He showed her a lighter side to the world, and was a sort of big brother type figure from time to time. He let her see beyond just what she had known, and allowed her more room to grow, and to do so safely. Especially when Gracia (and later Elysia) were thrown into the mix. He also formed some part of the foundations of who she is as we know her.
4. Edward and Alphonse Elric
These two are in the same spot, because she just can’t choose one over the other. They didn’t start out this high, but they have moved themselves up the line. The first three figures were important people in laying down some foundations in her life. Her father, all the basics. Roy, beyond that, and a deep love. Hughes, a broader, lighter, world. But the Elric brothers are different. They aren’t foundational to her, but they are very, very important. They bring out a side of her that she didn’t know she had. They make her more motherly, they let her show her caring, They’ve managed to place themselves in her heart, and she would gladly protect them with her life. That’s how high they managed to move on her levels of importance. They are, honestly, second to Roy. They’re not second on this list, bc they aren’t foundational and important in that way, but they are second to Roy in importance in the practical day to day.
5. Rebecca Catalina
This was her first good, female friend. Much like Hughes, Rebecca pushed her way into Riza’s life and stayed there. She taught Riza how to loosen up, how to have fun as a girl, as a woman. She taught her how to do all the fun “girly” things, and that there was no shame in enjoying them. She showed Riza how to have more fun as a girl.
6. Jean Havoc
She considers him a friend, and someone that she can rely on. Out of all of the others on Team Mustang, she has the most trust in him. She feels she can trust Mustang to him (for brief moments of time), she knows that he is competent. She enjoys his company, out of the office too.
7. Heysman Breda
He’s not as close of a friend, but he is a trusted coworker for sure. She finds him reliable, and that is important. She knows that he has her back, and that means quite a bit to her.
8. Vato Falman
Also a trusted coworker. She’s impressed by his memory, and she trusts him in operations and missions, and, again, her trusting someone means something.
9. Kain Feury
She feels like he’s a little brother to the team, and she has respect for his knowledge. She enjoys working with him, and she respects his softer side. Honestly, she’s very fond of him, and trusts him implicitly in his role in missions.
10. Winry
She has a soft spot for the girl, and even took inspiration from her. She thinks Winry is a very strong person, and respects her skill and knowledge. If they spent more time together, I can see her moving higher up this list.
11. Her Mother
Her mother would have more of an impact, except she barely remembers her. Her main impact on Riza’s life, is her absence. She doesn’t hold that against her mother, she just never really knew her.
12. Grumman
In the anime, its never revealed that this is her grandfather, and I honestly don’t remember if, in the manga, Riza knows or not. But either way, he clearly wasn’t a part of her life when she was young, he didn’t help her with her father, and he didn’t seem to do much about her and her military career (not that she would have accepted it, really). His biggest impact was through Roy Mustang.
Honorable Mention: Black Hayate
How can we forget Black Hayate! Hayate is important to her. He’s someone to care about, someone that comforts her, warns her, and is well trained. He’s her companion, and important to her. She clearly loves him, and he is important to her.

Neji Plays an Otome Game - Finale
Read Time: 7 mins | Random | Prompt: Competition
RECAP: With Rock Lee’s inspired intervention, Hyuuga Neji was moved by his flowing feelings of a man to play an otome game for his bedridden comrade, Tenten.
“What flowing feelings?” interjected Neji wanly. “And what is Gai doing here?”
Maito Gai emerged from out of nowhere, cracking up. “Ohohoho, count on Neji-kun to sense his beloved sensei’s chakra, even when he’s disguised as a narrator!”
Neji scowled. “I’d really prefer that you refrain from breaking the fourth wall.”
Gai pumped his fist. “You’re right. Why break just the fourth wall when I can do MUCH BETTER than that! The fifth, sixth, seventh, nay, EIGHTH wall awaits!”
Rock Lee’s eyes glistened with tears of pride. “Wohooo! Gai-sensei, so coooool!”
“Won’t you come in, Gai-sensei?” Tenten called from inside the room. “You’re all scaring the tenants.”
“Woooo!!!”
“And don’t break any of my walls on the way in, okay?”
“Woooo!!!”
“NEJI--”
“I’ve got this. Go back to bed.”
Unlikely Kindred Spirit
“Ah, so you’re playing Dokidoki Tutorial’s handheld release,” said Gai, nodding to himself solemnly as he watched Neji navigate through the dialogues. “It’s been many years since I’ve seen these...”
“YOU’VE PLAYED THIS?!” Neji and Tenten exclaimed in unison.
Gai grinned. “Don’t sound too impressed, disciples of mine! Kakashi and I have fought in many, many battles in the game’s original arcade release to test each other’s true strengths. It was a fierce competition to see who gets the Good Ending for all the boys first.”
KAKASHI-SENSEI PLAYED THIS, TOO?! Both faces darkened as they imagined the Copy Ninja calmly and impassively answering all the dokidoki decision points without missing a beat.
“No wonder he grew up to be such a remorseless, feared shinobi,” muttered Neji.
Life’s Philosophy
"So really, you can consult me about the choices and I’ll be happy to enlighten you, Neji.” Gai offered him a fatherly smile, as if reassuring him that of his reliability.
“Very well.” Neji pressed the Start button on the handheld and started to go play back the opening scenes.
Tenten’s forehead creased. “Neji, haven’t you read through those screens before? You can just press Skip to quickly move past those parts, you know.”
“I prefer not to,” he answered curtly. “In real life, we can’t skip out the parts of life we find tedious or those we don’t like. It’s what makes us stronger and more resilient, fallible human beings as we are.”
“Well-said, Neji-kun!” Lee and Gai applauded him enthusiastically.
Tenten’s eyes narrowed. You just didn’t know about the Skip option, did you?
How Women Do It
Tenten forced herself to sit up on the bed. “Well at least use the Load function!” She grabbed the device and demonstrated how to bring up the full menu. “Save the decision parts so it’ll be easier to go back to them in the future!”
Lee and Neji both gaped at Tenten as she repeatedly tapped on Next to get past filled pages with various dates, game times, and chapters. Finally, she found a blank slot at page 35 to save.
“How long have you been playing this, Tenten?” asked Neji.
“I probably started a week ago.”
Lee held out his fingers to count. “15 slots per page, then multiply it by 34...”
Neji had long computed the answer in his mind, based on the strange look he was suddenly giving at her.
Gai rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “So that’s how women remember all of a man’s past mistakes in life. No wonder these can be easily brought up during arguments.”
“THAT’S SEXIST!!!”
It’s Perfectly Normal
Tenten puffed her cheeks in annoyance. “Look, it’s not just the choice screens you can save. It’s normal to save certain points of the game that you really enjoyed.”
Gai nodded along. “That’s true. There are certain conversations that are always fun to go back to, but they’re not selected to be part of the Clips Gallery.”
The kunoichi nodded gratefully to her sensei for his back-up. “Right! It’s perfectly normal! For example, I saved the moment from Hattori’s route when he finally understood that the female MC was more than just a childhood friend to him. You’ll see that on Page 16, Slot#3.”
Lee and Neji’s face darkened. That random yet accurate memory is definitely NOT normal!
Mission Completion Rate
Neji firmly pushed the coughing Tenten back to her bed. “Get some rest. You’re straining yourself out too much.”
Lee nodded. “Yeah, Tenten! Leave this game to us.”
“B-But..”
The Hyuuga’s forehead creased. “Are you still holding a grudge against me for turning that guy into a Yandere? I told you, he had some issues right from the start. He had a double personality. He wasn’t a healthy choice for the MC at all. Also, I saw that the bad ending unlocked one picture for the CG gallery, improving your completion rate.”
Tenten sweatdropped. Count on Neji to find mission completion as the most attractive part of the game.
The Essence of Choices
Prince looks like he’s about to cry.
<< You hug him. >>
<< You stroke his head. >>
Neji glanced at Gai. “So what do you think? They’re basically the same thing.”
“HMP!” Their sensei wore a smug grin. “Listen, cherished student of mine. On the surface, skinship in otome games may all look the same. However,  the key to making the right choice in scenarios like this is to understand the context of your relationship. Try to recall your journey of love: did he previously share a rarely-spoken-of past memory of a precious loved one stroking his head as an expression of affection? Then that may be the right answer. Or maybe you two have known each other all your lives and have always treated him like a little brother. Stroking his head is what a big sister will do, so he’ll only feel disheartened if you choose to go with that option.”
Gai capped it off by patting his student on the shoulder. “The bottom line is, an almost-correct answer means nothing to the game. It’s either you get the exact response and progress your relationship, or you don’t, and you get a smaller leeway for mistakes until the next bad ending cut-off.”
Neji hated to admit it, but he couldn’t help feeling impressed by the expert understanding the man had for the game. “You must have beat Kakashi during the challenge.”
The jounin raised a shaking fist in the air. “Almost! I was so close to beating him! But his choices were flawless and he beat all the endings before I did.” Gai looked torn between frustration and awe as he recalled that memory. “That Kakashi seems to have more experiences with different men than I do!”
Neji (and Tenten, who was trying to rest on her bed) both grimaced. THAT DIDN’T SOUND RIGHT!!!
Okay Kind of Guy
I am caught by surprise when I hear a soft voice speak from behind.
“Do not trust people so easily, Tenten.” He refuses to meet my gaze, but we are the only ones left in the empty classroom, so I’m sure he is talking to me. “What you see is not always what one is.”
“Finally, a sensible person in the game,” remarked Neji. “Who’s this silver-haired, blue-eyed fellow?”
“Oh, that’s Vincent. He’s the mysterious foreign exchange student from England,” explained Tenten. “Really smart but really quiet guy. He always watches the female MC from a distance and gives her advice. He’s cold to everyone else, though.”
“... sounds like an okay guy to me,” shrugged Neji.
"It sounds like someone I know, though,” murmured Lee, tapping on his chin.
What’s Wrong with Him?
“Does Vincent have a route?” Neji wanted to know.
Tenten thought for a moment. “Yeah, I think I saw a page for him in the CG Gallery. I just haven’t gotten around to playing Vincent’s route.”
He gave her an incredulous look. “So you’ve opted to play all the other men before him? What’s wrong with Vincent?”
Tenten sweatdropped. Neji... really does have a soft spot for Vincent, huh?
Down, Boy, Down!
Neji was still inconsolably miffed by what he perceived as a snub of his newfound bias, so Tenten felt compelled to say something.
“I wanted to play Vincent last because I heard his route has the most number of story spoilers.”
“...”
He’s still mad. Tenten sighed, and then added, “I also want to save the best route for last.”
“...really?” He opened one eye and looked at her skeptically.
But Lee and Gai were seeing something else. Neji’s like a puppy wagging his tail!
The Girl Who Feels Loved
“Well, we’ve made enough ruckus for one day.” Lee gave the bedridden patient a snappy farewell salute. “Feel better, Tenten!”
“We’ll check in from time to time to make sure you’ve taken your meds and are well-fed,” promised Gai as he left fruits and bottled water within her reach.
“I left three choice screens on Slots 11, 12, and 13 in case I made a mistake on Prince’ route,” said Neji. “It’s really difficult to seduce a sociopath bastard.”
She stifled a laugh. For all their quirks, her team really loves her, and she loves them back just as much.
"Thank you, everyone. I had a great time today.” She beamed fondly at them.
Otome guys may be cute and all, but nothing beats my 3D boys.
That Word Again
“Didn't you have fun, Neji?” asked Lee as the trio walked home leisurely.
“Fun. Heh.” Neji rolled his eyes. “Playing to please fictional men so they’ll date the female MC is hardly fun. A relationship should be the product of two people working together to keep it stable and strong, not a one-sided effort to fit somebody’s preferences and expectations.”
Gai looked impressed. “For a tsundere, you seem to express the ways of love so clearly.”
Neji scowled. “There’s that word again! Why do you keep calling me that?!”
Lee and Gai both wore a stupid expression on their faces as if they were doing their damn best not to burst out laughing.
“F-Fine! Just call me whatever you want! It’s not like I particularly care.” He crossed his arms with a scowl.
Neji’s tsundere-ness is a dating sim dream! Gai imagined hordes of male players exploding into massive nosebleeds if they overhear this conversation. We must keep this dere side of him a secret... or he’ll pose a threat to the future of Konoha youth!
The Last Word
“But all that aside, I really appreciate that you decided to meet Tenten’s interests halfway,” said Lee smilingly. “You’re typically not the kind of person who’d be pushed into doing something he didn’t like.”
Neji shrugged. “If I didn’t do that, Tenten would have insisted on playing all day. Otherwise, I just want to move on from this day and forget those sissy-looking, psychologically-problematic jerks.”
“Now. now, Neji. it”s not so bad,” chuckled Lee. “Besides, it’s not as if it’s the furthest you would go for her.”
The Hyuuga glared pointedly at him, but had no words to rebut until they parted ways.
“Was I too upfront with him, Gai-sensei?” asked Rock Lee when it was just the two of them walking back.
In response, Gai grinned. “A bit. I have a feeling that someone’s going to do a lot of thinking tonight about circumstances.”
Indeed, that night, Neji could hardly feel the beckoning of slumber. He was busy writing down in-depth character profiles for each otome male route, his famed observational skills polished by Gai’s game insights meticulously detailing the nuances of possible choice screens that would come up as the game progressed.
Neji sighed. Maybe Lee was right-- there wasn’t a lot he wouldn’t do for the sake of Tenten’s smile.
But it’s not like he could help it. Just like the female MC in the game, pleasing someone that matters to him did feel... a little nice.

The Nanny
Dr. Melinda May has been looking to hire a nanny. But between her and her daughter, Daisy, Melinda is starting to think she won’t be able to find anyone who can make both of them happy. When she hires Phil Coulson to do the job, however, Melinda finds out just how untrue that belief had been.
A Philindaisy au.
Also on AO3.
Melinda closed the door behind Nanny Candidate #14 before turning around and letting out a short sigh.
Another failed attempt.
Each person she interviewed seemed so promising in the beginning, but none turned out to be a good fit. She was too protective of her four-year-old to leave her with just anybody, and Melinda’s gut instincts told her she hadn’t found “The One” just yet, even though she’d given several a chance. As if Melinda wasn’t picky enough herself, Daisy hadn’t liked a single one of the potential nannies that had watched her for the past month either. Between the two of them, Melinda was starting to think there was no one in the world who would make both of them happy.
Melinda checked her phone for the time. Her young back-up babysitter wouldn’t be able to stay overnight, so it looked like she'd have to call Peggy to watch Daisy again while she worked her night shift. Not that either Peggy or Daisy would mind the extra time spent with each other. Daisy and Peggy’s daughter, Jemma, were the best of friends–as close to each other as sisters. And ever since her brother and his wife died years ago, Peggy was also the guardian of her two older nieces, Sharon and Bobbi. The four of them loved getting a chance to have a “girls night” together.
Melinda pressed Peggy’s icon on her phone and put it to her ear, moving into her kitchen as it rang.
“Let me guess, #13 didn’t work out?” She asked immediately, foregoing a normal “hello” and getting straight to the point. Typical Peggy.
“14. And no.” Melinda replied shortly as she reached into her fridge for a bottle of water.
“Sorry, darling. Want me to keep Daisy over here for the evening?”
“Would you mind? I know it’s a school night, but if you can take her in the morning before your 8 o’clock class, I can pick her up after and–”
“Say no more. You know she’s welcome here anytime.” There was a lower voice in the background. “Steve says he’ll start popping the girls some popcorn.”
Melinda shook her head and her brief smile faded. “Sorry to impose on you two again. I really am trying to find someone…” Melinda shut the door to her fridge and gazed at the most recent picture stuck to the outside. A wide-eyed Daisy at Christmas time, holding up an unopened present to show to the camera. Melinda’s lips turned up involuntarily (as they always did) at her little girl’s big grin. “It’s just never the right person.”
“Have we begun discussing your non-existent love life or are we still talking about finding a nanny?” Peggy asked, her English accent clipped with barely restrained humor. Melinda’s eyes narrowed at the jab. “You’ll find someone, don’t you worry. Not another word, now, Melinda. Bring her over whenever you’re ready and I’ll tell the girls.”
Melinda shook her head as a grateful half-smile tugged her lips upward. Peggy always knew what to say. Melinda grew up an only child, but she imagined that having an older sister would be a lot like having a Peggy. They’d relied on each other through some of the most difficult times of both their lives and now, with daughters of their own, they were closer than ever.
Melinda hung up the phone just in time to hear the sound of Daisy’s footsteps nearing the kitchen. She skip-hopped in, dark hair swinging.
“I’m all dressed, Mama!” She announced proudly, showing off her mismatching pajamas. “I’m glad you sent that nanny away. She was boring. Who were you talking to?” The four-year-old spoke all in one breath, her high, young voice causing Melinda’s heart to melt as it always did.
Melinda set down her water and held out her arms. Daisy jumped into them without hesitation, settling on Melinda’s hip with both arms around her neck. She’d always been very slight in stature, and Melinda was thankful for it. She wanted to be able to hold her baby girl in her arms for as long as possible.
“That was Aunt Peggy. You’ll be having another sleepover tonight.”
“Yay!” Daisy hugged Melinda, grinning, before wiggling out of her arms. “I have to go get my dolls ready–we’re makin’ a team that’s gonna save the world!”
With that, Daisy raced off to her room. Melinda shook her head fondly and called out to her daughter. “Slow down, Daisy.”
Picking her bottle of water back up, Melinda followed behind Daisy (who obediently slowed her pace down a fraction) up the stairs to put on her scrubs.
It was going to be a long night.
“May! I have the perfect candidate for your nanny problem!”
Melinda turned from her meal (consisting of a PB&J sandwich and carrot sticks) to see Pepper hurry through the door of the break room to the table where Melinda was sitting–alone, as usual. Her smile was one that put all her young patients, their parents, and even other doctors, at ease. Which, along with her intelligence and compassion, made her a naturally talented head of pediatrics and a good friend. There weren’t many doctors at Providence Hospital that Melinda trusted fully, but she and Pepper had become close colleagues and friends over the past few years–despite the fact that several other doctors were very intimidated by Melinda’s personality and intelligence.
Melinda prompted Pepper to speak with an "I’m listening” eyebrow raise before biting down on another carrot stick.
“His name is Phil–”
Melinda’s internal commentary immediately began interjecting: A boy?
“–and he moved back into town recently–”
Okay, so an adult. Most likely doesn’t live with his parents.
“–he’s super great with kids–”
Hmm. No word on professional experience.
“–and he’s an old friend of Tony’s–”
Ah, there’s the catch.
Melinda raised her hand to stop Pepper from continuing. “Never mind. I’ve met some of Tony’s ‘old friends’ and have always regretted it.” She took a bite of her sandwich as if to finish the conversation.
Pepper opened her mouth to protest, then closed it and shrugged. “Point taken.” Her smile returned. “But this guy is different. Ask Clint or Natasha. I think even Steve and Peggy know him! He’s always been great with kids, so Tony asked him to watch Fitz for us a few times and Fitz adores him. Makes Tony jealous sometimes, actually.”
Melinda considered it. Male nannies were not as common as females, in Melinda’s experience. There weren’t many qualified men looking to nanny a child. But she was getting nowhere with her current findings, and Pepper wouldn’t trust her son with anyone who was incompetent or dangerous, of that Melinda was sure. But still, this was Daisy…
Pepper continued her pitch. “You know, just the fact that he has patience enough to be friends with Tony should tell you he could handle anything. Plus, he’s excellent in the kitchen, which would be good for both Daisy and you.” Pepper looked pointedly at her PB&J, which had grape jelly oozing out of one of the sides.
Melinda sent her an exasperated look, which Pepper received with wide-eyed innocence. “Plus,” she continued. “He’s very reliable and trustworthy. He’s older, probably around your age.”
Melinda folded her arms in mock offense.
“Okay…yours and...you know, Tony’s age.” Pepper grabbed one of Melinda’s carrots and grinned when Melinda rolled her eyes. They both knew Pepper wasn’t all that much younger than her.
“Have you asked him what he’d think about being a nanny?” Melinda finally asked aloud.
“No, but I think he’d love it. He’s been talking about trying to find a better job so he can save up enough to start his own bakery. He works at one now but hates the management. And he’s taught in public schools for years, although he’s just a substitute now, but that means he’s already cleared a background check.” Pepper bit into the stolen vegetable and nudged her. “What do you say?”
Melinda sighed in surrender. “I’ll look into it.”
“Great!” Pepper’s smile lit up the room. She popped the rest of the carrot in her mouth and took out a folded piece of paper from one of her pockets, sliding it over to Melinda before standing. “I’ve got a patient to see, but you should call him.” With that, the strawberry blonde strode out of the break room.
Melinda opened up the piece of paper and looked at the name and number there, written in Pepper’s neat handwriting. Phil Coulson. Already had a background check, Pepper said? Well, no harm in checking twice.
Melinda picked up her phone, but instead of calling the number on the paper, she dialed the number of a old police friend she knew could help her.
Fury and Peggy had worked with each other years ago back when Peggy had been a part of the county’s police force. He always told Melinda she could have been a policewoman rather than a doctor. More than that, despite his off-putting personality, Daisy had him wrapped around her little finger. He wouldn’t mind doing some sleuthing if it was for her, Melinda was sure.
Natasha was leaning on the wall, clipboard in hand as Pepper exited the lounge.
“Well?” The ER nurse prompted.
Pepper smiled proudly. “She’s gonna call him.” The two women gave each other a subtle high five and began walking down the hallway.
“Daisy will love him, and I think Melinda won’t be too far behind her.” Natasha smirked, pleased with their matchmaking plans.
“Agreed. And Phil will be head over heels, no question.” Pepper added. “They’re definitely going to owe us.”
“Agreed. And I’ll officially be Daisy’s favorite aunt. Peggy and Maria can’t top this.”
The two redheads shared a quiet laugh before going their separate ways.
“You’re sure?”
“I’m telling you, May, the guy hasn’t done a d–” Fury caught Melinda’s glare and glanced at Daisy eating macaroni and cheese at the kitchen table. He corrected himself with a huff. “A darn thing when it comes to breaking the law, except for that one speeding ticket when he was in his twenties. And if I owned his car, I know my record wouldn’t be that tame.”
Melinda nodded and pulled the broccoli out of the microwave, spooning out some onto Daisy’s plate.
“Look, you know I’m instantly suspicious of any ‘old friend’ of Tony’s too, but I’ve actually met this guy, thanks to Steve, and he’s good. One of those nerd types, talks too much, but clean.”
“How has everyone met this man but me?” Melinda muttered before sighing and nodding again. “Thanks, Nick. Want to stay for dinner?”
“Yes, stay! I wanna hear your eye patch story again!” Daisy bounced at her seat excitedly. “Please?”
“Well...okay, just for one quick story.” Fury held up his pointer finger and raised his eyebrows seriously. Daisy nodded back with a smile.
Melinda handed Fury a plate with a smirk.
“Shut up.” He said grouchily.

Ryder Questions
Bored, so going to go ahead and do all of the questions from this post with my current Ryder (Should be mostly spoiler-free, I think, but putting it under a cut)
The basics! Whats their full name, gender, and sexuality? Describe their general appearance and/or include a picture. Is there anything you canon beyond what the game allows? Cassiopeia “Cassie” Rose Ryder, female, pansexual.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I play on console and haven’t figured out Xbox screenshots yet) She is also shorter than what’s shown in-game, just under 5′3″. Her nose should look more like it’s been broken and healed.
Can’t always wear Initiative whites and blues, Whats their dress style like? Do they prefer casual wear, or being in armor? Is it the same as it was in the Milky Way? How, if applicable, has it changed since arriving in Helius? Do they have piercings, tattoos, or notable scars? Do they dye their hair, or is it a gene mod? Casual wear whenever possible, especially the leather jacket. Her style has simplified some since the Milky Way, in part because she’s busier and also because resources are different. She likes rich blues/teals and shades of grey. Besides the tattoo on her face, she has more in the same style on the rest of her body, along with a collection of varying scars. She used to have her ears, nose, brow, and bellybutton pierced, but used to take them out for fieldwork and left them out once she was made Pathfinder. Her current hair color is natural.
What’s their personality like? How do they feel about being Pathfinder? How do they change, if at all, over the course of the story? Her dialogue choices are typically a combination of the emotional and casual responses; she has a sense of humor, but is defined mainly by her curiosity and desire to help people. She loves animals of all kinds and exploring new places. (I like to think of her as space Steve Irwin). When made Pathfinder, she is a bit overwhelmed and confused, not sure how to deal with that amount of responsibility so suddenly. Over the course of the story (disclaimer: I haven’t finished the game yet, though I think I’m close) she grows into the role, learning to trust her own judgement and balance risks better.
What’s their preferred profile, or class? Were they naturally inclined towards combat or technical skills? Were they a developed biotic, or did they first experience it with SAM? Cassie was a developed biotic before coming to Andromeda, trained as an Adept. She can shoot and fight well enough, though it wasn’t a focus of hers until it had to be. Tech was always more her brother’s thing, so beyond the basics she needs to do her job she never really developed those skills.
Canon says they served in the Alliance before joining the Initiative, do you keep this canon, or have you made some changes? Explain their backstory either way.   I mostly kept the canon, where she served the Alliance by being part of a team going after Prothean artifacts. I tweaked it some, though.  She joined mainly because of her family, because her brother wanted it and it was such a big part of her dad’s life. While serving, she still pursued her education, and was assigned to the Prothean research team because of her talent for research and exploration; though she was technically still employed by the military, her job on that project was more of a research assistant than a soldier.
Everyone’s got one… List their (or your) favorite powers, weapons, and armor sets. Any special reason for these choices? Her favorite weapon is the standard M-8 Avenger; it’s what she’s used to using, it’s reliable, and it does a fair amount of damage once she mods it a bit. She favors biotic attacks, especially Throw and Lance; basically, powers that let her punch people with energy. Tends to use either the Scavenger or Maverick Deadeye armor sets.
Its all in the family. Explain their relationship with Alec, Ellen, and their sibling. If you changed anyone’s names or added a different sibling in your canon, explain why. Even though Alec frustrated her with his distance and workaholic tendencies, Cassie spent a lot of time trying to live up to her father’s legacy and make him proud. She was never quite sure if she’d managed to do that.  Cassie was a lot closer to her mother. She credit Ellen with giving her her love for science, and misses her every day. Cassie’s brother, Perseus Scott, is her best friend. They were practically inseparable for years, and no matter what she accomplishes, it feels wrong that he’s not there too.
What’s their favorite memory they have of their sibling? Of their parents? How have they dealt with the aftermath of Habitat 7? How deeply does this effect them? Cassie can’t really choose a single favorite memory of her brother, since he was present for most of the best times in her life.  As for her parents, she might tell people that her favorite memory is one of the rare holidays when they were all together, but that’s not actually her favorite. Her favorite was after a dinner when Ellen had managed to wrangle them all into the same place, when her parents were cleaning up the kitchen and didn’t realize Cassie was watching. They didn’t even say anything, just worked together in silence, but with looks between them every time they passed or touched briefly. That’s how she likes to remember them, peaceful and happy and still in love, puttering around a kitchen
As they unlock the memories, how does this change, if at all, their view of their parents? At first, Cassie is even more frustrated with her father’s secret keeping. She’s still in mourning for him, and sometimes it hurts less to be mad at him. The more she learns, though, the more she starts to understand the decisions he made. And it helps to see how much of his work he did for Ellen and their family.
Explain the way they feel about their squadmates, both initially and over the course of the story. Cora: While Cassie respects Cora from the beginning, it takes her a little while to warm up to her. Time helps, though, and once Cora starts to relax and let go of some of her resentment about Alec’s choice, they become friends. Liam: Cassie likes Liam immediately; their personalities and senses of humor work well together, and she likes that he can remind her not to take everything too seriously. Even though they don’t always agree on a course of action, she values his perspective and the amount of compassion he has. (She does, however, disagree strongly with some of his taste in music and vids, and despite many heated debates neither of them will budge on the matter.)  Peebee: Cassie and Peebee share their love of discovery and exploration (Though Cassie’s focus tends to be more on organic life than RemTech). They have the same tendency to talk through whatever they’re thinking, and the two of them in the same room working on a problem can be kind of overwhelming for anyone who walks into the middle of it. Vetra: Cassie and Vetra get along very well. Her sense of responsibility for Sid is something Cassie gets and respects. She’s a little bit in awe of some of the things Vetra can do; Cassies mentions once that there’s a specific kind of snack she used to eat after a hard mission, and two days later a case of them shows up in her quarters.  Drack: Cassie loves Drack. She thinks he’s awesome, loves his fighting style and his stories, and essentially adopts him as her grandfather. Jaal: At first, Cassie keeps returning to talk to Jaal out of curiosity, wanting to learn more about Heleus and the Angara. But the more she talks to him, the more she genuinely enjoys his company and his openness. Over time, they start a relationship, and she can’t quite believe her luck at coming all the way to Andromeda to find the love of her life.
Explain the way they feel about the rest of the Tempest crew? Suvi: Cassie and Suvi bond quickly over the new discoveries in Heleus. They’re both passionate about science, and when she’s trying to make a plan, Cassie likes that Suvi’s perspective is a bit different from anyone else’s on board the Tempest. Kallo: At first, Cassie doesn’t totally understand Kallo. They don’t see things the same way, and while he’s pleasant enough, she doesn’t understand the way he seems to feel about the ship. Over time, though, and once she learns more about his history, she gets it, and appreciates his skill and the amount of care he has for the Tempest.  Lexi: Cassie has a giant tiny crush on Lexi from the beginning. (Which may or may not be me projecting my own giant crush on Natalie Dormer). When she learns it can’t go anywhere, she’s somewhat disappointed, but enjoys working with her anyway. She does tease Lexi about her “mother-hen” tendencies, but actually enjoys knowing someone cares about her well-being. Gil: Cassie and Gil get on well right away. He reminds her a bit of Scott, in the way he approaches problems and tinkers with machinery. Spending time with him is comfortable, and she likes his humor.
How about Nexus leadership and the people on the Nexus in general? Cassie has always liked the people watching busy hubs allow, and the Nexus is no different. She loves getting to see the station rebuild and find its footing. As for specific people, she really likes Kesh and Kandros, and likes spending time in the lab when she can. Tann irritates her sometimes, though she kind of likes pushing his buttons. Addison is someone she respects, though they’ll likely never be friends. She likes the Vortex a lot.
What were their reactions to the Angara and the Exiles? How did learning there was a whole new species in Heleus affect them? How did news of the rebellion affect them? Meeting the Angara was the kind of thing she dreamed about when she set off for a new galaxy. A whole civilization, with new customs and new people, a beautiful world to explore, commerce and research to exchange, it was amazing. Even when they didn’t trust the Initiative at first (and she couldn’t really blame them) it felt like hope to see that there was another species living in Heleus and fighting the Kett. The exiles make her sad and angry. Even though she knows that hard choices had to be made, she thinks that the Initiative failed them. She tries to make peace with them when she can.
What about their interactions with the Kett? Cassie tries the peaceful approach when she meets the Kett, hoping that there was just a misunderstanding. When it was clear that they couldn’t make peace, she committed herself to finding a way to stop them. Exhalation enrages her, because it flies in the face of everything she believes about science being best used to improve lives and solve puzzles.
Did Ryder fall in love? If so, with whom? What drew them to that person? Would their sibling approve? Cassie falls in love with Jaal. She loves his sense of humor and his open frankness when it comes to people and emotions, and comes to rely on his support (combat and emotional) as they work together. Not to mention his voice because as always I am a sucker for a nice voice Scott is a little wary at first, just because Jaal is an unknown, but after working with him for a while and seeing how much Cassie cares about him, Scott warms up to Jaal.
What does Ryder do in their spare time? What are their hobbies and interests? Do they share these with their friends, or are they more private? Cassie tries to keep herself busy, and take Lexi’s advice about relaxing when she can. Some hobbies she shares freely, like her love of certain musicians and cheesy old science fiction. She crochets enthusiastically if not skillfully, and makes gifts for her crew out of what materials she can get. Other things are private; she writes when she can, both fiction and not, and it helps her work through what she feels about everything around her.
How do they feel being in command of the Tempest? Whats their favorite part of the ship? Least favorite? At first, Cassie is mostly in shock. Her feeling is best summed up as “What the fuck.” She does do her best to grow into the role, and ends up a good leader of her motley crew. Her favorite place when she wants privacy is her quarters, watching the view, and the bio lab is a close second. She doesn’t like the mass effect core much. Even when Gil assures her it’s perfectly safe, she could swear that being too close makes her biotic implant buzz uncomfortably.
How about driving the Nomad? Are they a good or terrible driver? When her brother wakes up, he is absolutely appalled that they let Cassie anywhere near the wheel of a ground vehicle. She failed her driver’s test six times, and really only got licensed because the examiner felt bad for her. So, no, NOT a good driver.
How do they feel about their connection with SAM? What’s their views on AI in general? Knowing Milky Way history and the attack on Eden Prime and the Citadel a recent memory, did the Geth influence this view? Does their view on SAM change? She’s a bit wary of SAM at first, mainly because of the level of control he could have over her body, but comes to appreciate and rely on him. She’s fascinated by his development, and doesn’t think AI is dangerous by nature just because some versions went rogue.
Favorite world they landed on? How do they feel getting to be the first human to step in many of these places? She loves Aya best, though Havarl is a close second. Cassie loves the amount of life on both worlds, and the sheer alien-ness of it all. She’s excited to see more and honored that she’s allowed to.
How do they feel about the Remnant? Are they worried? Curious? Simply accepting of what they can do with it? Cassie is curious more than anything, though she’s more intrigued by whoever created it than the tech itself.
Do they ever wish they could just return to the Milky Way? Do they miss anything in particular about their old home? Did they bring anything special with them? There are things and people she misses, but Cassie wouldn’t go back even if she could. Mostly she brought pictures to remember things by, but also a collection she started as a kid with a pebble from every world she set foot on. She adds to it as they explore Heleus.
How do they feel about what they’ve accomplished in Heleus? Are they proud? Worried? Do they feel positive about the chances for a cluster-wide unity? If they could change anything that had happened since everyone arrived in the cluster, what would it be and why? Cassie is always hopeful. She’s proud of what she and her team have done in Heleus, and excited to see what happens in the future. She thinks that they’re on the right track to cooperation and peace. If she could change one thing about it, though, Scott would’ve been at her side the whole through.

Kuchel Ackerman: I hear you were a trouble maker at one point my son. Almost outran the Survey Corps. Levi Ackerman : Hmm..I admit I was. Me and two others were when we still lived underground Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: See? Now...describe to me this Erwin. Levi Ackerman : Hes a giant. Kuchel Ackerman: *her blush got brighter and she looked at Erwin* I am so sorry about that. He spent some time with my brother and he was like that. Levi Ackerman : *Erwin shook his head and smiled* its alright, I know how he can be. Him ans hanji have this nickname they call me Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: *She smiled at him* I can't believe he would say something like that. I never expected it. Levi Ackerman : Despite the things he says, hes a good man. *he hummed and smiled* oh, feel free to take a seat Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Oh of course. *she went and took a seat in front of his deak* You seem like a nice man. Levi Ackerman : Thank you, you seem like a nice woman. Tell me about yourself *he folded his hands and smiled* Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Well...you already know my name. I raised Levi by myself at the age of 19. I lived in the Underground until recently. I believe my brother Kenny is an MP officer. Feel free to ask questions. Levi Ackerman : *he nodded* Hmm..this may seem straightforward but is there any love interest in your life? Just wondering of course Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: I have my eye on someone but...I am single. *she smiled at him happily* Levi Ackerman : *he smiled softly and nodded again* that's good to know, may I know who that someone is or is that too personal? Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Well...can I know if you have your eye on someone Erwin? *she placed her hand on the deck* Levi Ackerman : Hmm, I might..she is a very beautiful woman so its hard not to *he said, attempting to flirt a bit* Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Mine is a handsome man with the brightest blue eyes. *she looked into his eyes flirting as well* Levi Ackerman : *he smiled and tilted his head slightly* mine is a woman with the most gorgeous smile Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Perfectly neat hair, just the right of blond. Levi Ackerman : Long slick black hair with beautiful eyes Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: I think I know who this person is. Levi Ackerman : Do you? Because I think I know who yours is too Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Then say your guess then I will say mine. Levi Ackerman : Sorry if I sound conceded but would happen to have your eye on me? Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: You are correct. My guess for you is...me? Levi Ackerman : *he smiled and nodded* mhmm, you're right Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: *she smiled back and went to him* That is very good. Levi Ackerman : *he turned in his seat and looked at her with a smile* it is, isn't it Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Yes...*she sat on his lap* Well...what should we do with this information? Levi Ackerman : *he blushed softly and raised his brow a bit* Hmm..well, we could do this *he leaned in a little and softly kissed her before slowly pulling away* but, that's just a thought Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: I like that idea Erwin. *she leaned in for another kiss happily. She felt at ease. Finally, she had someone who loved her* Levi Ackerman : *he smiled softly into the kiss ans gently wrapped his arms around her, humming happily, wondering how Levi would think of it* Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: *She wrapped her arms around his neck, she wondered how her son would feel with her being with his boss* Levi Ackerman : *he deepened the kiss a little bit before Levi walked in* hey I forgot my- woah ok..um...you two go ahead..and uh, remember what I said. Use protection if you get at it *he then quickly left the room, heading to hanjis office to tell her the news Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: *Kuchel pulled away and looked at Erwin with a smile* I think we scarred him a bit. *Hanji in her office drinking coffee, she had been up gir two days going over the results of the tests on Eren* Levi Ackerman : *Erwin chuckled and shrugged a little before leaning in to kiss her again. Levi barged into hanjis office and shut the door behind him* I just caught my mom who I just found out is alive making out with Erwin Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: *Kuchel happily accepted the kiss. Hanji busted up laughing* That is hilarious! You walked in on them! Levi Ackerman : *Levi took a deep breath and looked at her* I mean, im fine with them being together but does this mean that Erwin might become my step dad?! I mean, hes my boss Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: That is very possible. They might get married making your mother Mrs. SMITH! *she kept laughing a bit* I am sorry...it is just funny. Levi Ackerman : *he groaned a little bit and walked over to her couch, laying down on his stomach* ughhhh hanji this isn't funny. My boss Id going to be my step dad Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: It is. Plus Erwin is a good guy. If he is like this with her...he truely loves her. Levi Ackerman : *he nodded a little* yea I know. And im glad she found someone but im just having a hard time comprehending this Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Yeah...he is a good friend of yours and now he is dating your mom... Levi Ackerman : Mhmm...how would you react in this situation? *he asked, turning his head to look at her* Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: I would talk to him...maybe set some boundaries for them. Then slowly lift them as time goes on. Levi Ackerman : I already told them I don't want a sibling...I kinda told them to use protection if they have sex.. Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Levi...you know since Erwin doesn't really have sex his condoms would be expired or he wouldn't have any...right? Levi Ackerman : *he groaned a little* Hmm..maybe as a congratulations gift I can get him some condoms...that sounds like a good gift right? Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: It would be wierd. Getting your boss and potential step dad condoms. Plus...they could be in his room now! Levi Ackerman : Dammit your right! Your coming with me hanji! If they are doing it, your going to get scarred too! *he quickly got up and grabbed her wrist before she could protest, dragging her through the halls* Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Gah! Levi! Why are you dragging me into this? It is not like it is my mom. *she closed her eyes* I don't want to see it Levi. Levi Ackerman : Neither do i! *he stopped at erwins door and looked at hanji* just stay behind Mr with your eyes shut. Ill need someone to catch me in case I pass out Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: You got it Levi. My eyes are already closed. I will be ready to catch you. *she gulped and held onto the back of his jacket* Levi Ackerman : *he took a deep breath and quickly opened the door, ready for the worst* Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: *she waited for Levi to either faint of say something* Levi Ackerman : *He sighed and leaned back against hanji* oh thank god they aren't having sex *he murmured as Erwin looked at him, tilting his head seeing as they were just cuddling* Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: *Hanji sighed and opened her eyes* Uh...Commander...Why are you shirtless? Also...sorry for the interruption. Levi Ackerman : *Erwin looked at the two of them, Levi with his eyes closed still leaning against hanji in relief* well we were getting a little intimate but decided it would be best to wait for a little while so we stopped and cuddled... Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: *Hanji smiled at Levi* I guess...I should get you to bed Levi. We kinda thought you two were...ya know and we got worried as well. Levi Ackerman : *Levi murmured something incoherent and Erwin chuckled* don't worry guys, we wont take it too far yet *Erwin said with a small smile* Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: No we were worried about a no condom problem. That was the worrying thing. So...is Levi's mom sleeping? Levi Ackerman : *Erwin nodded in understanding* oh and yes, she seemed pretty tired so I told her she could gett some sleep Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Levi...I am about to fall over. Now...we will leave you two be. Come on Captain. Levi Ackerman : *Erwin nodded and Levi stood up* sorry about that four eyes.. Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Okay...Night Erwin. *she closed the door and looked at Levi* I guess we worried over nothing. Levi Ackerman : ((Levi was the one I meant to make say that lol) *Levi nodded a little* I guess we did. I really need to get them condoms Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: ((She was talking to Levi then to Erwin)) Come on. I will make you some tea and then we need to get to bed. Levi Ackerman : ((Ok)) alright lets get going *he hummed and started to walk down the hallway* Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: *She followed him* So...why wouldn't you want a sibling? Levi Ackerman : Hmm...I don't know..I guess I'm scared that he or she might end up like me and I don't want that for them Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Levi...you were in the underground with only your mother. This kid would be on the surface with both parents and an awesome big brother. Levi Ackerman : *he smiled softly and shrugged* yea I guess...but if I do get a little brother or sister, there is no way in hell I am gonna let them risk their lives by joining the scouts. Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: They might get lucky and not join or if they are skilled, the MPs Levi Ackerman : Hopefully..I just want them to have a good life, either way Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Maybe by then...we could be Titan free. Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: Imagine a Titan free life. Your mom with a house near the ocean. Never Died! Kuchel Ackerman: (Hello?)
