Hihi. So my question is pretty silly and I know it's really not important, but I'm going to ask anyway because I think of this every time I rewatch the episodes of S01 and aesthetically I feel like it was a missed opportunity. So: I'd like to know if it was unconsciously or consciously decided to not make Crowley wear pointed leather boots, because it would have just looked just that little bit more awesome.
David Tennant got to work with the costume department to pick his clothes. I suspect that you need to take that one up with him.

vic im that anon again…and here comes my rambling:
just did a rewatch marathon of s01 true detective and after actually going down to deep south, it creeps me out even more than when i watched it before..the story, the vibe, the heavy mardi gras voodoo pagan devil worship theme, the trailer parks and swamps and cane fields and cemeteries and churches everywhere. even tho i only when to the most touristy attraction places of nola and went on a plantation and swamp tour, but the few days i spent there really gave me a clearer idea of what the show was depicting. it’s 2024 yes but idk the bayous still feel so old and primitive and uncivilized and closed off from the rest of the modern society, like rust said, some people might as well be living on the fucking moon
that said, the whole vibe of the show creeps me out bad (thus making me un-horny which is rare) and i want to pick rust’s brain and burrow into his mind and know his every thought. BUT I DESIRE RUST CARNALLY SO BAD SO BAD IT HURTS!!! he looks so depressed and repressed but he fucks like an animal…..his crash persona and that whole getup gets me so bothered OH AND THAT SCENE WITH MAGGIE ugh i need a minute just thinking about it…🥴
and i’m rewatching interstellar now…yes i love me some girl dads…🥴
and why they all texan…
i need help.,
maggie scene lives in my head rent free in a very disturbing way… the way he swivels his hips 😵💫 the way mcconaughey fucks in movies needs to be studied in a lab. and yet despite all this as i’m trying to think up this fic i would like to write for him, i’m finding it so difficult to figure out how the sex should be—not an easy man to write

2022 Top Films/Series/Books/Comics
I watched and read heaps of stuff last year, so if you need some recommendations, I've chosen my absolute favourites and compiled them in a list.
Enjoy!
Films:
Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022)
This would have to be one of the best films of the year (and of all time). With an amazing cast and a strong theme, this film will reassure you that even if you don't matter to the multiverse, you matter so much to the ones you love.
Ngeri Ngeri Sedap (2022)
A heartwarming Indonesian film about how traditions mean very little without the love of your family. With tight structuring and a cohesive narrative, the ending is incredibly satisfying as it brings everything (and everyone) together.
Darklands (2022)
An incredible Australian micro-budget thriller that has you hooked throughout. This film really deserves more attention as it has a gripping story, great action and terrifying moments.
All Quiet on the Western Front (2022)
I could write a whole essay on this film. Everything about it is masterful and the growing weight of the inevitable makes this film so heartbreaking yet tremendous.
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)
A funny yet sad film about two friends having a row. It may not seem like much from the synopsis, but there is so much to enjoy, from the humorous dialogue, to the quaint Irish village setting, and to the incredible cast.
Series
Peacemaker S01 (2022-)
With so many mediocre superhero shows being released last year, this really outshined them all. A fun yet compelling series, James Gunn knows how to make you love a character you didn't know or care about before watching.
Derry Girls S03 (2018-2022)
The final season offered a perfect ending to this iconic series. I'm going to miss these girls (and the wee English fella) so definitely one to keep on my rewatch list.
1899 S01 (2022-)
This show immediately draws you in with horror and tension bubbling below the surface. The unfolding mystery reaches a satisfying conclusion, but alas Netflix has cancelled it so the cliffhanger is left unresolved.
Bee and Puppycat S01 (2022-)
As a fan of the original webseries, this adaptation/reboot is wonderful. The show is quirky and colourful, offering a respite from all the edgy and crude adult animated shows.
Andor S01 (2022-)
Even if you don't like Star Wars, you can enjoy this for what it is. An incredible sci-fi thriller series, with great writing and a powerful message. The series succeeds because it makes everything feel personal without getting lost in aesthetics or nostalgia-bait.
Books
Beauty is a Wound (2002) by Eka Kurniawan
An incredible magical realism novel written by Indonesian writer Eka Kurniawan (I read the English version translated by Annie Tucker). It is gritty yet whimsical as it blends history with fairytales.
The Hidden Case of Ewan Forbes (2021) by Zoë Playdon
A great overview of Transgender history in the UK while also focusing on this one significant case involving a Scottish lord. Once you learn the history, you can understand why there is so much paranoia around transpeople in the UK.
Fireside Coast (2022) by Claire McKenna
The final installment in the Monstrous Heart trilogy, this novel offers a great ending to this gothic series. With the fleshed out setting, deeply-flawed characters, and gruesome nautical gothic details, I was engrossed from the beginning.
Deathless (2011) by Catherynne M. Valente
This was on my TBR for a while and I'm glad I finally read it. A wonderful retelling of the Koschei tale, that blends Russian history and fairytales. I was still thinking about the ending weeks after I had finished it.
Project Hail Mary (2021) by Andy Weir
This novel made me laugh and cry, which is the best experience I can have honestly. A great story with high yet personal stakes for the main character.
Comics
Monstress (2015-)
I started the series a couple of years ago and have loved it ever since. With a stunning art style, high stakes, majority female cast of characters, and eldritch horrors, what more could you want?
Talgard (2019-)
Vol.2 was released last year and proved to be just as worthwhile as the first. These short comics made by Australian writers and artists offer humour, fantasy and a moral at the end of it all.
Retelling the Hobbit (2020-)
A beautiful little webcomic that captures the whimsical world of Tolkien's The Hobbit. It was love at first sight with this one.
Witchy (2014-)
Another webcomic (now published traditionally) that offers a unique world where magic is just a gift someone can exploit. The story is gripping and the characters each have their own struggles to overcome.
The Wizard of Cedel (2022-)
A webcomic that I accidentally stumbled across but immediately loved. The art style is charming and the characters loveable. I can't wait to see how the story develops.

I’m rewatching playthroughs of all the trauma center games except this time in order of game’s release. So instead of my “optimal” version of progression (imo) of UTK > UTK2 > SO > NB > TT it’ll be UTK > SO > NB > UTK2 > TT
I’m almost done with SO now, I finished UTK yesterday. My main notes as of now are
1. SO is such a step up from UTK it’s ridiculous. The music, the art, the storyline, everything is so much more complex and it’s great.
2. I overall prefer the art style in SO but some of the emotions in UTK feel much more raw and expressive with its art direction, so I feel like SO almost slips up on that a bit. I wish the poses were more varied, I think SO mostly changes the facial expressions between sprites and not the body poses, while UTK seems to vary body position as well, so that might be the issue.
3. NAOMI KIMISHIMA. I love Derek in his own right but my god literally Naomi is the best character and I missed her so so so dearly in UTK. Once you’ve experienced SO, going back to UTK there’s a very noticeable absence of Naomi.
4. Still weirded out by the fact that this is the second game in the series and not like the third or something. Why’d they make UTK only to go “haha sike” and totally remake it?? I understand needing to remake everything for wii but it’s drastically different in terms of everything, especially storyline, so it’s really odd to me that this came directly after UTK
5. UTK isn’t the best in hindsight, but it brings up very interesting medical dilemnas. Euthanasia is still a highly contested issue today, and without getting into the meat of it too much, Tyler’s reasonings are very realistic and sympathetic, while Derek’s rebuttal is also valid.
6. Additionally, Derek’s response to Linda still gets me even today. It just feels really genuine and I legitimately think his advice is worth taking. I know Angie’s reaction is widespreadly detested, and it does seem a bit out of character for her considering the fact that she criticizes Derek’s own bedside manner earlier, but considering she’s also lacking in sympathy for her own father, maybe she’s just prone to being overly critical of people in tough situations. What she said to Linda was still detestable, but I think that it shows a type of pragmatic mindset that Angie sometimes falls into.
7. On that note though, it would have been good for either SO or UTK to punish Angie for her behavior with Linda in some way. She doesn’t have to be fired, just give her a stern talking-to by one of her superiors and have her express genuine remorse for saying that to Linda, or at least have her apologize. It would have left less of a bad taste in my mouth with regards to Angie and that storyline and also it would have added a lot of complexity to Angie’s character by showing that she can make serious mistakes and has to apologize for her actions, just like a number of other complex characters (Derek, Naomi, Adel, Markus, and CR-S01 come to mind, maybe Little Guy too, although idk if he ever expresses explicit remorse besides the remorse of almost getting caught lol)
8. Naomi Kimishima’s storyline is so top tier it’s not even funny. I’ve said this ad nauseum in another post somewhere, but having her start out on the side of evil only to redeem herself later, while still suffering the consequences of her actions...so good!! I really love the layers she adds to SO in comparison to UTK, I really would have been interested to see what she’d be like in UTK though. Her voice actor is also fantastic and I really commend the acting she did for her. Naomi’s voice is literally so elegant yet authoritative, and it also has a haunting tone to it (especially in TT). Anyways <3

i guess i just need you to explain what exactly ted is guilty of, because even if he accidentally hurt nate’s feelings, nate’s actions are his own. having your feelings hurt doesn’t give you permission to hurt other people
hi anon, sorry i took a while to answer, i was on a trip for a few days!
i’d like to point out again that i genuinely think that ted has never purposely tried to hurt or belittle nate in any single way, it's just the way how everything was fleshed out and how nate (sometimes poorly) interpreted it. i should rewatch s01 and s02 to perfectly answer your question but i really don’t have the time :( so, sorry, this will be fleshed out very quickly from my memories and i might be wrong or have forgotten stuff
i am also going to base this answer based nick mohammed’s tweet. he made very good points in those tweets that you can see here and so i’m gonna make a very small list below. it’s my own interpretation and of course, it could have been resolved with better communication and that’s “la faute à pas de chance” like i’d say in french:
the moment when nate said he’s gonna take care of isaac’s situation and ted kindly mocks him is truly offensive imo. it’s a light joke, i am aware of it but small jokes hurt the most. nobody pays attention to them but the person who receives it is deeply impacted by it. ted rubs it off as a pure joke and i think he could have let nate have a chance to prove he could do it!
nate has indeed acted super shitty this season and ted didn’t notice it. i am very well aware that it is none of ted’s business but shouldn’t friends notice when someone acts weird? shouldn’t it be a little concerning? ted asks multiple times to coach beard ‘is there an issue there?’ and coach beard says there isn’t. maybe ted could have checked it out a little bit more?
i think it’s also interesting that we never saw a lot emotional conversations between nate and ted. ted has a lot between jamie, roy, rebecca but with nate (except for the one time ted apologises to him), there was never a defining moment where you could feel them bonding? i don’t think they ever talked about nate’s dad or anything else than football so it’s always been a work relationship somehow?
ted is a lovely human being but i think that sometimes he is so good that when he messes up, people get more disappointed. remember at the beginning of s02 when sam tells him his dad is glad he’s their coach because he could never do something to hurt them? and then ted calls jamie - the one person who mercilessly bullied sam throughout s01 and that sam never wanted to see him again - and you can see in sam’s eyes he was slightly disappointed as soon as jamie walked in the pitch? ted knew it would hurt sam and he did anyway and i’m glad he did because jamie grew up so much this season and jamie and sam became friends and that’s amazing! but imagine if he did not and remained a selfish imbecile? it would have been so hard for sam :/
and so ted inviting roy to the coaching staff without letting nate know first was kinda similar imo. nate must have felt pushed away (and AGAIN, not ted’s fault, nate’s feelings overwhelmed him) because no one asked him his opinion about that while they’re all supposed to be a team
ted and coach beard are two peas in a pod. they get along extremely well and share the same braincell somehow? their difference make their strength and they’re just a dream team. i think in ted’s mind, nate has joined their special coaching team and. it’s all very natural and effortless to be with coach beard. sometimes they don’t talk and it’s fine cause they still don’t understand each other and so ted might think it’s the same thing with nathan? but it is not? nate needs communication (and reassurance - and yes it’s not great but a lot of people do) and ted doesn’t know about that. he’s been so used to coach beard’s quietness that he doesn’t realise it’s not the same for everyone - including nate!
ted also barely lets know of his struggles. he did them let know he has panic attacks but he mentions it so ‘casually’ with such confidence that it might be so confusing. honestly if someone came to me and was laughing and all smiley about a nervous breakdown, i’d think they’d have it all under control (which i know is messed up). where i’m trying to head with this is that nate probably feels like ted has everything under control and like it has been mentioned by other people, nate’s communication is strength. he wants to show he is good and so he doesn’t let know about ted about a bunch of stuff and his feelings because since ted doesn’t mention it, he shouldn’t either ...
also this is not a valid reason but i still wanted to point out that since the moment ted suggested nate to get a suit, each of nate’s suits has been TOO SMALL. i don’t know if it was made on purpose to show how awkward and clumsy he still was in a powerful outfit (if it was, it’s brilliant, rupert may have told him and it must have enraged nathan). anyway, TED SWEETIE YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD HIM THAT HIS JACKET WAS TOO TIGHT. IT’S BASIC DRESSING IN A SUIT 101.
so yeah, all of these points are just some quick thoughts gathered on the moment i’m sure i could be wrong and that there might have more things that will come up to me later. i want to say that i am very well aware that ted is not a mean person. i just wanted to point it that his positive nature is amazing but positiveness isn’t the key (i mean the movie inside out has perfectly explained how sadness can lead to happiness!) to everyone’s problems.
it was never ted’s attention to make nate feel that way. in a way, you can say that ted indeed has done nothing wrong because he did.... well... nothing?
but being passive in a relationship can do damages so yeah ted, i know you thought you did your best but nate needed more help, more than a little push (like jamie or roy) to get better. it was not your business, i know that but i know that if you knew all that, you’d have done more for nate because you deeply care about him and you wish nothing but the best for him :(
#anonymous#ted lasso#nate shelley#oh god this turned into a TED talk (lmao pardon the pun)#but yeah i just still feel very emotional for nathan and i'm angry that some people only hate him#while not trying to understand him. he messed up very bad but he had his reasons. were they good? def not#but it just rubs me wrongs that some people deck on him when the show's lesson is literally be curious not judgemental#meanwhile everyone's been judgemental and not curious about nate's situation#idk i feel empathy for him and i hope he'll have a great redemption arc!

I was curious since you were just talking about Suleyman sisters. Which one is your favourite and what would you change in their storylines? (Me: I would Sah being in love with Ibrahim and her and Hürrem being enemies, because I truly someone from the imperial family liked Hürrem)
I honestly love all of them. Even though they all share a similar purpose in the narrative on the outset (that is, being antagonists to Hürrem), they have distinct motivations and personalities that always succeed to make them so interesting to analyze.
Despite of that, I have to say that my favourite is Hatice. She's the one who felt most fleshed out, with the widest arrays of personality and relationships and I sympathize with her in nearly every level. While I know that S03 Hatice could turn people off and I could understand why in theory (good flanderization is still flanderization after all and her "Heel Face Turn" could feel underwhelming after Hü's huge E63 victory and it lowkey makes for kind of a soft reset of the show's status-quo, but not only I haven't seen this actually being used in arguments against her, but this is solely a writing problem that didn't even originate from her and wasn't totally fixed until the end.), I felt this was the most logical step in her arc and her development made complete sense, no matter how flanderizing it was and how tragic it ended up being. [poor Hatice :(] I have analyzed her character and why I love her so much as well in more detail here.
The one thing I would change is, again, her spending more time with Osman and Huricihan. The need of having kids was set up as a very important part of her character from the beggining and Osman and Huricihan's birth could've felt as a new wave of hope after the devastating child losses. It felt like they were the start of an entirely new chapter of her life where she could enjoy the company of her kids the way she so wanted to, but the birth of Huricihan and Osman ended up being only the finale of Hatice's worries over her children, a satisfying end to these arcs of hers where she could finally find happiness at last and with this it was over. It wasn't built on at all and this whole angle of Hatice's character was seemingly dropped just like that. While I get that her storyline was very densely packed and they may not have had time, they could've given us a few scenes at the very least, especially in S03B where they would play part in empowering even more Hatice's tragic arc, being a reminder of Ibrahim. Not to mention that Huricihan would've been a much better character if that set-up existed.
I adore Şah Sultan, as well and I actually enjoy her dynamic with Hatice even more than her dynamic with Hürrem, because it tells us much more about who she is. It was so enjoyable to watch these two sisters confront each other on not so few instances, while still loving each other. I love how Şah's ambition contrasts so well with her genuine care for the people she loves (like Hatice and Esmahan) and how her pragmatism could actually get in the way of that care, while we could still see that the two coexist in her regardless. It makes her motivation so interesting to figure out in a way we haven't seen before or after with any other character. Her love for Ibrahim.. while yes, I get that it may seem a little weird, putting so much stuff in their past into another context that could draw the line between "this makes sense" and "how exactly did that happen?", it explains why Şah may have this deep seated resentment to Hatice, it is a nicely used plot-device to drive conflict between them (the conflict set-up in their past that is outside of their clash of ideals and philosophies in the present and near future) and her and Lütfi later. It makes her more interesting, too, because it shows her ability to let go of her feelings when she sees is necessary. Her approach is also very interesting and unique (at least at first) and while I find most of her scenes with Hürrem generic, she was a formidable and effective antagonist. I also find interesting that in rewatch, you do see that out of her and Hatice, it's Şah who is more elitist, interestingly enough. (because while Hatice mostly pulls rank out of ignorance or when she's challanged outright, Şah pulls rank not only in confrontation, but in casual conversations with people around her, as well - E87 is a perfect example of this. She also views the dynasty as something even more valuable that shouldn't ever be touched - her not wanting to fight Mihrimah in the end, even though I'm sure she could've outsmarted her if she truly wanted to, she wanted the most out of anyone in S03B for the dynasty members to have each other's backs and support each other no matter what and she was as ready as Hatice to stand behind what the dynasty represents, but not on a more personal level like Hatice, rather on standing behind its laws and traditions, like Ayşe Hafsa.)
What I would change with her, is that intrigue of hers that succeeded to have Hürrem be exiled for the third time. There's nothing wrong with the intrigue neither writing-wise, nor with Şah's character in it, and I kinda appreciate Hürrem's overspending there as a parallel to Mahidevran's overspending in S02, showing that they're not so different after all in a bunch of cases. But otherwise, the whole thing felt like pointless filler that only repeats some aspect of previous storylines. Yet another harem riot, though not as large in scale, and that almost contrived exile, which served nothing in the end (except for showing how Hürrem has gained a decent network of political allies, but that was shown before the exile, too). I would probably make it a far more complex, but still to the point intrigue, the outcome of which sure wouldn't be another exile for an episode. This also wouldn't have been the ending culmination of Şah's careful plans against Hürrem, either. (Ayaz Pasha's death afterwards was relatively quickly planned in comparison! Like.. c'mon..)
Fatma is my least favourite sister of the sisters, but she certainly has her moments. I love her debut and I love how fun loving she is, I sorta wish we saw even more of that. I actually don't recall a moment where Fatma ever pulled rank on someone in the way Hatice in E26 did and Şah so casually does and if there truly isn't any moment like that, then I love her even more for it. What is even more interesting is how her motivation is a promise made to Mustafa (even though this whole motivation is kinda strange writing-wise, since she's an entirely new character and the devotion to Mustafa could look like something the writers only came up with in the heat of the moment for S04A's bad use of flashbacks and to make yet another antagonist for Hürrem... Fatma could've been next to Mustafa when he was a child in Manisa and she liked him as a child, who knows? That coupled with Mahidevran probably reminding him of Fatma's existence, as well.) and how far she's going to go to fulfill it, even after his death. It all showed a side of hers that is willing to put the dynasty members in intrigue (the way she put Selim and Bayezid against one another and even when she played that game on Mihrimah), an interesting contrast with the other sisters, who would do anything but, at least not so consciously. (I'm referring to Şah's very first scheme against Hürrem, in E85-6) I love how she scolded Mihrimah in E121 and I love how they showed her sorrow for Mustafa's death. (that little scene where she said: "I failed.." was so touching, honestly... It shows how devoted she was to it all) Her relationship with Kara Ahmet is also pretty great.
What I would change with her, is her part in the menopause plot. The episode itself is such a weird and tonal mess, but Fatma there was at her worst and I don't agree with her making fun of Hürrem like this. I get the purpose of the episode and scene, but it still sits wrong with me and since that was our first episode with Fatma, it rendered her a little petty for me when I was first watching. I wouldn't have had Fatma tell it out loud for everyone to hear, I would've probably made her show Hürrem she knew in a confrontation similar to Hürrem and Mahidevran's (hey, a part of their formula could work for once!) between both of them during the entertainment. I would have also given her a little more balanced screentime. In some episodes it was very fine, but in others, it felt like she was more shoved into the background.
About Hürrem having at least one dynasty member to like Hürrem - I agree, it would be a breath of fresh air, to say the least, there should've been this kind of variety. If there is one I would make a friend of Hürrem's (at the most part), that would be Beyhan.
I would have given her more screentime, especially in S01-2, she could be there to advice and support her sisters even more and for them to calm down from the games and intrigues. She wouldn't play such a big role in the story, aside from an arc or two that would be different from working against Hürrem. Her and Hürrem would be usually on good terms, since her emotional maturity would let her understand at least a bit of her side of the story and wouldn't be so quick to accuse her. (as she wasn't when she learned of how Hatice learned about Nigar and Ibrahim) Beyhan can't be fully on board with her, of course, because moments where Hürrem tramples on Hatice's happiness directly or indirectly could put them at odds, but I feel Beyhan's personality and shtick would be the best suited for a friendship with Hürrem of sorts. Since she still wouldn't be part of the throne war, Hürrem would have no reasons to act against her personally, either. (now, S03B could be a problem, but then we could... have her return to her castle permanetly?) It would've been epic if Şah had only her dynamic with Hatice in the story, but I don't think that alone would be enough for the writers, because they sure were searching for someone to replace Ibrahim as a more prominent antagonist until S04's switch of focus and enrichment of storylines.

i know i'm a little late, but i would like to know your opinion about billy's relationship with the therapist and madani's influence on it (i believe he was looking for dinah on his girlfriend)
Hmm, I do think that you're right and a part of Billy was looking for Dinah in Krista. There was a lot of transference of the feelings he felt for Dinah (or thought he did) to Krista. He tells Dinah, "I should know how I felt about you." He knows they were involved, he instinctually knows he liked her ("you used me" "maybe. that doesn't mean I didn't like you") and I think he acts with Krista the way he imagined he would've done with Dinah. Krista is the only one saying he isn't bad, and the people he cared about (Dinah, Frank, Curtis) all have turned against him, so he transfers to her those feelings he had for them. She becomes the one person he has to protect and to convince himself that he isn't as bad as everyone thinks. At least that's sort of how I interpreted their relationship. But I do think the show is never as explicit about that as it should've been. And in all honesty, I hated the amnesia storyline and Billy/Krista romance in s02. To me, the emotional core of the show in s01 was Frank-Billy-Dinah. How these three played off each other was what made it interesting. To have Billy forget everything they had gone through together, made their interactions in s02 lose a lot of their emotional impact and depth. I wanted to see the Billy who had four shots to kill Dinah in s01 and hesitated, that Billy lash it out with the woman responsible for putting him away. That was the confrontation I wanted. I enjoyed their scenes in s02 because they are still amazing actors and characters, but they would've been a thousand times better if Billy remembered everything they had gone through.
Anyways, that's the gist of it. I probably need to do a s02 rewatch to discuss the show more in depth, lol.

S01 E01 PILOT
Okay so! starting a rewatch and I thought I’d do a little missing scene from each ep. So here we go starting out strong with some Dean on the road. You can read it here on tumblr or here on AO3!
The road stretches ahead of him, long and empty and Dean speeds up, hits the accelerator, trying to lose himself in the motion, synch up with the car and just glide. But it’s getting harder to focus now, when his destination isn’t some monster or creature from a nightmare. No, he’s not going anywhere so easy.
It’s stupid really, to feel like this and Dean knows it. He’s dealt with much worse than a trip to a college campus. This time last week he’d been over in New Orleans, moments away from being stabbed by an intangible knife. He ignores the slight pain that lingers in his side. As far as hunting injuries go, well it hardly qualifies. Point was Dean wasn’t a kid anymore. He was old enough to hunt on his own now and definitely old enough for this.
And yet, if he was a kid, if they were both kids, he wouldn’t have to be doing this. If they were just a few years younger, Sam would still be right there with him. Sitting next to him and spouting some stupid fact about old lore or just burying his head in one of those trash novels he pretended he never read. They would be together, and for all he knew, if Sam was here, if things were different, if they all stayed together this wouldn’t be an issue at all.
But it’s been years since any of Sam’s shit had cluttered up the backseat. The car’ all Dean’s now, his tapes in the front, his gear in the back, the car was big enough to contain everything he owned and more. All Dean’s possessions, packed into her tight. He wonders if Sam drives. Not that he’d need a car to contain his belongings anymore. No, Sammy’s got a new home now. Proper shelves to line his books up on instead of the corner of the trunk, clothes hanging in a closet instead of piled up on top of a false bottom opening. Yeah, Sam doesn’t need any of the space he and Dean had spent so long arguing over. They’d squabbled for years, each trying to get a little more storage space. And Dean won.
To the victor the spoils. An empty car with all the room in the world. He doesn’t have enough to fill it.
He’s been trying, definitely. Even just now in New Orleans he’d picked up a couple of pretty pieces, a silver knife and some more bullets. His collection is growing, he’s got rifles and handguns now, small knives and machetes, bags and bags of rock salt. Enough iron he’s pretty sure he’s causing some kind of disturbance in the Earth’s natural magnetism. He’s even collected some books of his own. In the trunk is a mixture of a couple of old lore books and some classic literature. Dean may not be going to some fancy college but he sure loves to read. It’s a ragtag little library, taken from old garage sales he passed or the occasional thrift store.
He’s not sure what John would think of them. It isn’t something he’s mentioned. Not because he’s keeping it a secret from him! He just hasn’t had reason to bring it up. It’s not a distraction though, he has that answer locked and loaded. He barely ever reads them, they’re just there in the car. For the long nights when the cards are all frozen and his hustling hasn’t been quite enough to afford to buy dinner and a motel room. When he’s lying back in the impala, waiting to be exhausted enough that sleep overtakes him, sure, he’ll turn a few pages.
Dean passes another mile marker and tries not to see it as another chance to turn back now.
He wonders where Sam sleeps now. If he’s got a little bedside table, he can put his books on before he falls asleep. If his room has thick curtains, if he never has to ignore neon lights flowing through thin curtains or broken blinds. He’s got a home now, the address Dean is driving to, he doesn’t have to sleep in a car.
He wonders if Sam has a car.
The end of the cassette brings him back and for a moment he considers pulling over right there to flip it around. There aren’t any other drivers out here at this time. But if he does pull over, he’s not sure how long it’ll be until he can bring himself to keep going again.
So, he drives in silence. It’s not too far. Which is a good thing. He wants to be there already. And maybe if he tells himself that one more time it’ll make it true.
He slows down as he gets off the highway. Into the residential area of the college town. Sammy’s home neighborhood. He hates how little he hates it.
The impala is silent as he parks her right in front of Sam’s home. She’s beautiful and brilliant and he’s not sure why suddenly she feels small.
A quick knock doesn’t garner any response and Dean is too curious not to take the chance, to test Sam’s defenses.
There aren’t any.
His door is locked and that’s it. He’s not sure what he expected. Sammy definitely doesn’t want to have to explain to all his college friends a line of salt in the doorway, he doesn’t want to carve a sigil in the doorpost. But this, it’s a simple lock Dean gets open in moments. A challenge even Sam would be able to master without trouble.
He moves through the apartment quietly, looking around. It’s bigger than he thought it would be. And there’s so much stuff. He wonders how much of it is Sam’s if he actually owns all this. He probably should have been more focused on his surroundings but with all this, well it was easy to get distracted. Sue him.
So, Sam’s attack takes him by surprise. Not enough of a surprise that Dean doesn’t react well, but enough to get him off balance for a moment. Sam still fights well. Or at least, well for Sam. Dean’s still got the clear advantage as he shoves him right into the other room. The light from the window (framed by thick curtains, he notices) illuminates his face for a moment and Sam falters. Dean gets him pinned down in moments.
“Whoa, easy tiger.” He manages, trying to catch his breath.
“Dean?” Sam’s voice is shock, but not instantly hostile and Dean can’t help the laugh that escapes.
“You scared the crap out of me!” Sam’s voice is his tried and true bitching about being beaten tone, and Dean falls into his own role easily.
“That’s ‘cause you’re out of practice.”
He’s goading Sam and it works, always does. It actually surprises him how fast Sam is, how quickly their roles are reversed.
“Or not,” he admits. Sam hits him twice and Dean rolls his eyes. “Get off of me.”
Sam gets off of him and extends his hand to help Dean. Sam pulls him up and then stands back.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Sam’s voice is upset now and it’s suddenly too real. Sam’s no longer the brother Dean reaches to poke and annoy in the car, he’s no longer an abstract figure too far away to reach. Sam is here, right here in front of Dean and he is angry.
“Well, I was looking for a beer.” He tries with a grin, grabbing hold of Sam for a moment.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Sam repeats and Dean needs to tell him.
“Okay.” He answers. No jokes this time. “We need to talk.”
“Uh, the phone?” Sam asks, eyebrow raised.
“If I’d’a called, would you have picked up?” His tone is light but it’s a serious question and they both know it. Dean thinks for a moment that Sam won’t answer and for another, worse moment that he will.
But he doesn’t get the chance. The lights flick on and Dean spins to see the blonde woman at the switch. She’s pretty, too pretty to be in Sam’s apartment anyway, and more then anything else she’s an interjection into the situation. A distraction and Dean pounces.
“Jess.” Sam speaks up next to him. “Hey. Dean, this is my girlfriend, Jessica.”
“Wait, your brother, Dean?” she asks and where ever that’s going Dean wants to cut it off before it has a chance to begin the trip.
“Oh, I love the smurfs.” He gestures to her crop top and he can practically feel the disdain and anger rolling off the two others in the room. That’s fine. He expected that. “You know, I gotta tell you. You are way out of my brother’s league.”
Jessica looks at him like he’s just confirmed Sam’s reasoning for leaving in a single moment.
“Just let me put something on.”
No. He isn’t staying, they aren’t staying. This isn’t some long conversation to be had. And Sammy definitely didn’t want his girlfriend in on it.
“No, no, no, I wouldn’t dream of it.” He says with an easy grin. “Seriously. Anyway, I gotta borrow your boyfriend here, talk about some private family business. But, uh, nice meeting you.”
“No.” Sam speaks up and Dean watches as he walks away from him, as he goes to put his arm around Jessica.
“No whatever you want to say you can say it in front of her.”
Dean looks at him for a moment. He hadn’t anticipated this. But he can’t very well walk away now.
“Okay. Um.” He looks at them straight on, trying to order his thoughts. “Dad hasn’t been home in a few days.”
“So, he’s working overtime on a Miller Time shift.” Sam says, and his words are heavy and disgusted. His hold on Jessica seems to tighten. “He’ll stumble back in sooner or later.”
Dean ducks his head. Trying to let that one go. It’s not that he’s wrong exactly, it’d happened before. But it wasn’t something they’d say. Not like this. And besides this time isn’t like that at all. This time is different. This time, John is in trouble. And Dean’s not going to let him down. He’s going to get his baby brother and he’s going to get the family together and safe. He looks back up at Sam, his gaze hard as he says,
“Dad’s on a hunting trip. And he hasn’t been home in a few days.”

Rewatching season 1.
What was even the point of s01 e12. "Crazy for you". My favourite episode by far, but still as a narrative what was really the point seeing where the series is 5 seasons later?! This is such an absurdly strong love interest set up thrown completely out of the window. If this is a love seed planted it's a masterpiece, if it's not the entire episode makes no sense at all. They didn't need this set up for Linda. It was super random.
Barry observing Caitlin's face.. "Something bothering you?" " Why would you ask that?" "You're doing that biting your lower lip thing that you do when something is bothering you.." "ahem. I'm fine." "Okay.." "Cisco says I don't have a life!" "You don't! Do you?" Barry says teasing her. "I cook and I read...and I help you..?" "So what you're saying is that you do everything that has nothing to do with having a life?" "You don't have to be rude about it!" She says with a smile. *Barry giggles* "Hey I'm not doing any better than you. My social life consists of running at super human speed and Netflix". "We are quite the pair, Mr. Allen" "Yes we are Doctor Snow"
We litterally have Caitlin and Barry making plans for ruining peoples social life🤣
Short completely unnecessary scene of Caitlin patching halfnude Barry up alone before Wells enter.. Caitlins completely unnecessary frown when Barry says he's on his way to help Iris.
In this episode you have a parallel to Caitlin talking about Ronnie challenging her to break out of her safe habits, Barry complaining he always goes back to his bad habit. Barry getting blown off by Iris, and immediately calls Caitlin to have fun. We have Barry challenging her and Caitlin challenging Barry.
Everyone's trying to get it right🎵 Music silences to the background. Enter Caitlin shot from the floor and up following Barry's eyes. You can see Barry do a double take . "Hey!" "What?" "What? Eh nothing! Uh you look..really..nice!" "I don't always dress like a high school principal" *Barry giggles*
"I thought we'd kill to birds with one stone, look for them and get ourselves back out there" Music volume is turned up again "you want a piece of my heart?"🎵 "I keep making the same mistake.." complaining about never moving on from Iris. You can't tell me this isn't intentional.
WHY do they spend half an episode! Singing, drinking, of Caitlin puking, Barry following her home, Caitlin standing around in her bra, needing help to get undressed. Caitlin asking if he sneaked a peak of her goods and that it's ok of he did.. Barry tells her to get into bed AND Caitlin asks Barry to stay until she falls asleep followed by Barry stroking her thigh until she falls asleep. If this excellent writing was followed up one day there will be a parallel episode. I don't even care. If this was an episode where it was Iris instead of Caitlin it would be good writing seeing how the series moved on. But it wasn't set to Iris . So much of the character growth is always set to Barry and Caitlin.
WHY!? "Some people are worth being crazy for" "Sorry I was a bit of a drunken mess the other night" "actually it was pretty fun" "it was.." "you know what? I think everybody has been right about you and me. Both of us has been hung up on people for too long." "If what Cisco says is true.. that Ronnie merged with Martin Stein. Then he's not alive anymore. Time for me to move on, find someone new to be crazy about"
*awkward giggles*
"Allright. Well, then see you tomorrow" "yes, sure.. bye" "bye"

I Need A Fic About This
Omg I'm rewatching S01 of OUAT. Sooo good. ANYWAY, does anyone know of any fics set during S01E18 when Emma serves Regina the search warrant? I mean that scene! It's wrought with tension and aggressive energy that I just can't even. I had completely forgotten about it, but it's insane!!!
The way Regina is just amused when Emma shows up guns blazing.
The way they both purse their lips on the porch.
The way Emma let's her brush past her to open the shed, thinking that she has the upper hand.
The way Regina full on STALKS towards her when Emma is so confused the shovel isn't there and she finally realized she doesn't have the upper hand.
THEIR WARDROBE EVEN MATCHES. The little gold chain hanging off Regina's belt KILLS ME.
The way the camera pans out and even though Emma is legit so horrified about the new shovel, Regina is just so caught up staring at Emma and HER HAND IS REACHING OUT BETWEEN THEM.

10 Reasons Why Snowbarry can Never be Completely Crushed and Can Still Happen
Since s04 started, the writers of the Flash have reduced Barry and Caitlin's interactions so that WestAllen can thrive. At this point, even though the writers are trying to crush Snowbarry completely, I believe Snowbarry can never be completely crushed and can still happen for the following reasons:
1. Snowbarry Fans Remember
From s01 up to s03, Snowbarry had a lot of ship worthy moments inspite of the fact that WA was supposed to be the main couple. Because of this, Snowbarry developed a huge fanbase. Now that WA is getting married, the writers expect us to forget all these moments and that is not possible. Snowbarry will live on because its shippers will continue to remember all their moments and this will be the encouragement that will make some SB stans to keep shipping this pairing.
2. Snowest Failed
The writers of the Flash have forced a fake friendship between Caitlin Snow and Iris West to further kill Snowbarry but this friendship is weak, fake and insignificant bc Iris and Caitlin have not had a proper conversation since they declared themselves besties in 04×05. I am now completely certain that after Cait serves her purpose of being Iris' maid of honor, her fake friendship with Iris will never be mentioned again.
3. Snowbarry Has a Rock Solid Friendship
Grant and Danielle are real life besties offscreen which is why it is so easy for them to translate their friendship onscreen whenever Snowbarry interacts. From s01, the writers failed to establish WestAllen's friendship as something so strong that it could be the basis for a strong relationship bc Iris was always a little too oblivious of what was happening in Barry's life. Sometimes, it even felt like she didn't care. The only friendship that looked like something that could turn into a beautiful relationship is Snowbarry and the reason for this happened in 01×03 when Barry was telling Cait about the pain he still felt about his mum's death. He didn't tell Iris about this, he chose to tell a woman he had just met a few weeks ago because their bond is nothing but unshakeable and indescribable. Tbh, the only way to really kill Snowbarry is to ruin their friendship and the writers won't do that because they still need Caitlin to be on Team Flash.
4. Flashfrost
Even if Snowbarry never speaks to each other again, Flashfrost must happen bc Cait can now control her powers and she will end up teaming up with Barry. There were even some bts pics for 04×10 that seem to suggest that we will get some Flashfrost. We might even get Flashfrost in the crossover next week.
5. 04×09
Even though Iris would still be leading Team Flash, 04×09 is without a doubt a Snowbarry centric episode even though Barry and Caitlin will spend most of the episode miles apart. In the end, no matter who Iris chooses to save, Barry and Caitlin will end up helping each other and we could even get a Snowbarry or Flashfrost moment.
6. Snowbarry and SaviFrost will Live on Through Mechavoe
The villain of the season is a very intelligent man with super powers that is using all of his intelligence and resources to formulate plans that can help him stay alive and he is assisted by a very intelligent woman that is completely devoted to him. While this description refers to the Devoes (otherwise known as Mechavoe), it can also refer to SaviFrost. Even though SaviFrost never actually became a couple, we get to see what it would have been like if they did bc Mechavoe is very similar to them. Mechavoe also draws a lot of parallels to Snowbarry. A lot of these parallels were showcased in React Out Loud's most recent Snowbarry reaction vid (please check it out if you haven't already seen it).
7. Iris is hated, Caitlin is Loved
Even though Iris has her share of fans, for every Iris stan, there are ten anti Iris stans. Caitlin is well loved by most people except Iris fans. Caitlin has a better storyline and Iris fans confirmed this when they shamelessly drew fan art showing Iris with ice powers. Since the hate on Iris is so big, the writers will continue to leave little bits of Snowbarry moments lying around to appease the audience. I believe that after this season, Iris' screen time will be reduced tremendously.
8. Iris Still Has a Crush on Oliver
While it is true that Oliver Queen is the hottest man in the Arrowverse, I don't expect a woman in a committed relationship to constantly point this out every chance she gets. Unfortunately, this is what Iris does even in this season, when her wedding is really close. Instead of Iris stans to get upset when Iris says things that undermines WA, they cheer her on in her foolishness. How strong can WestAllen be if Iris can't stop admiring other men even infront of her husband-to-be? I don't think Iris can spend the rest of her with one man which is why WA can't last even though they're getting married. Once WA falls, Snowbarry will rise and take its place. I can't wait to hear the inappropriate things Iris will say about Oliver during the crossover.
9. Barry is Still Protective of Caitlin
Even though Snowbarry barely interacts, Barry will never let anything bad happen to Cait. This stems from their deep friendship and it is part of the reason why we can still expect some Snowbarry moments even after WestAllen weds. For proof of this, just go and rewatch the part of 04×06 where Ralph referred to Cait by her numbers. Barry was really furious and his facial expression showed it.
10. The WestAllen of the DC Movie-verse will Take the Place of the CW's WestAllen
By the time the Flashpoint movie premieres, we would have gotten at least 3 more seasons of Mr Allen and Mrs West-Allen as the main couple in the Flash tv show. However, the pairing would have been severely weakened by the constant CW-ish drama that will be thrown at it. By that time, the pairing can get a divorce that will mark the end of the road for them (hopefully, they wont get back together) and a lot of people won't really care bc another WestAllen will be dominating the big screen. Once this happens, Snowbarry will become the main couple on the Flash tv show.
I am thankful for the fact that I could think of 10 reasons why Snowbarry won't get completely crushed and can still happen. Did anyone think of any other reason? Please let me know.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! 🤗🤗🤗

2x03 Thoughts
I’ve finally started my rewatch on s02 (lies, I havent watched most of this season before so this is a first viewing) and I think I’m gonna do a post on each episode after seeing it rather than wait to finish the whole season like I did with s01. This is probably how I’ll operate with s03 as well.
Right, so overall I liked this episode quite a bit. It had many moments I totally adored (spoiler: whenever Magnus was on screen and telling dumbass shadowhunters where to shove it) and it introduced my favourite werewolf lady along with the beginning of one of the relationships I find most interesting on the show. So yeah, a pretty good episode all things considered.
Another thing that it managed to do, which I totally didnt expect, was to make me feel bad for Jace. Like I genuinely felt his desperation and pain in this ep and by the end of it I was rooting for people to just cut him a break already. Something that the whole of s01 didnt make me feel. Good job, episode, good job.
I liked the subplot with Raphael and Simon, mostly because it showed once again how much of a good guy Raphael is and how nobody fucking appreciated it (like father, like son). I mean yeah, he did sort of passive-aggressively used Simon’s mom to threaten him into finding Camille but he also brought her to a nice restaurant and made up a totally fake story about where Simon is so she wouldnt worry and drink herself into an early grave. Not to mention he’s been nothing but helpful since the beginning and making sure these idiots (read Simon) dont get themselves killed and in return got blamed for other people’s messes and blackmailed into doing Clary’s bidding (which may I add, resulted in Camille escaping and landing them in this mess in the first place) so yeah. Stop being dicks to Rapahel 2k18.
Jocelyn gettng told off at every turn was also very nice to see. First by Magnus and then by Jace (who had moooore than enough reason to tell mommy dearest where to shove it). And in general I wish the show would allow more shadowhunters to be called out like that because that was so fucking real and well-deserved?? It left me 😍 for a good 10mins afterwards.
Speaking of the love of my li- I mean Magnus, as usual he was the best part of the episode (you might as well get used to it, he will always be the best part of any episode fro me). Like I said, I loved seeing him going off on those idiots who pissed him off and seeing his devotion and concern for Alec was just heartbreaking (especially when nothing he tried worked in any way). Seeing him lose his cool and lash out was also interesting and my god, the way he dealt with Raj - gggaaah, that was so hot, I cant handle it.
And since we are on the subject, what IS that guy’s deal? I mean he seemed weirdly unconcerned that a fellow shadowhunter was about to die, even a bit gleeful? Does he have some kind of grudge against Alec? Now that I think about it, he was the guy who Izzy attacked to save Meliorn in s01, right? Maybe because of that? Anyway, I’m adding that to his incredible stupidity in deciding it’s a good idea to piss off the High Warlock of Brooklyn.
The last bit that I found interesting was the flashback with Izzy and Alec’s convo about being parabatai with Jace. I found that rather frustrating to be honest because of the implications it seems to give off. Like Alec tells her he cant go through with the ritual and Izzy realises that he’s in love with Jace... and then proceeds to list Alec’s good qualities and telling him he’ll find someone to love him completely someday. Which is nice and all, I guess, but doesnt really follow logically from the previous bit? Like what does Alec getting a new love interest at some point in the distant future have to do with his feelings for Jace now? That doesnt help him with his problem right now! I guess the point she was trying to make was that there are plenty of other guys he can fall in love with later on but he might never find another parabatai again which ok, fair enough. But the implication it gives off that I mentioned really annoyed me is that it treats Alec’s already existing feelings for Jace as less important than some hypotetical feelings he might develop for another person in the future. Which is bullshit. I guess this is the start of the show trying to retcon that Alec was never ~reeeaaally~ in love with Jace and to downplay those feelings as compared to whatever he has with Magnus (kind of hard to do when you keep writing Alec the way you are).
And onto the most annoying (and telling) part of the M@lec subplot so far - the kiss. *sigh* I dont even want to explain my issues with it. Do I need to? Like there cant be someone out there who sees this as a positive moment for the ship, right? I mean if true love’s kiss doesnt bloody work for your couple, then... what else is there to say? Yes, I know it wasnt as simple as that, parabatai blah blah but like come on. Do we really believe that if the writers really wanted to portray M@lec as this epic love story like fandom thinks, they wouldnt have found a way for the kiss to work? Or just did it anyway even if it made no sense at all logically? The fact that Magnus’selfless act of love didnt work but Jace’s did... that just says all there is to say, I think. And dont even get me started on the way it was shot with the literal darkness on screen that made sure there was nothing to see. Just uurh.
Other highlights include:
“Alec is like this because he tried to help me find Clary” - no, he fucking didnt, you lying manipulative woman
“The Clave can be reasoned with, werewolves cant” - ahahahahaAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH
“Our side doesnt kill werewolves” - see above^^ reaction
“I dont like to be rushed” - HOT DAMN
“My phone died, amongst other things” - aah, vampire humour

Currently Watching
Midway through s11 of my full Bones rewatch, which I started during the s12 break and then have stubbornly continued on with before finishing the series. At one time it was pretty much my favorite show so it feels right to be fully saturated while watching the last ever episodes.
I started watching Reign after I finished The Tudors but the costumes and history are so inaccurate it’s hard to watch. I’ll probably finish but, eh, the motivation isn’t reeaalllyyy there.
4 episodes left of s01 of Versailles, which is so extra it’s perfect (and costume and accuracy-wise is much much better than Reign. Must have a better budget).
Recently finished one of my many Leverage rewatches because that show has aged like fine wine and it never ever gets old.
Watching Weeds (kind of), Justified, Black Sails, Arrow, Luke Cage, The 100, Peaky Blinders, Sense8, Daredevil, B99, and GOT with my boyfriend Nick; maybe that’s why we can’t seem to finish any of them. Lol. At this point I just want them to be over so we can check them off the list. Coordinating is difficult tho.
I also need to find a place to watch DW online to catch up because Bill looks really great and I want to see more of 12.
I have 10 more episodes of OUAT s06, so I think that’s next on the list to finish. then the 2nd half of s04 AOS (another I stopped at the mid-season finale and then lost track of over the spring).
This is super rambly and kudos to you if you’re actually reading this but I just wanted to jot all this down.
