Fandom creators tag game
1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of? Mostly I write fanfiction. Sometimes I make little needle felted character dolls. Over all proudest is probably still The Hands I Used to Touch (Call the Midwife), but for my current fandom (Supergirl) it's Forgotten, Not Forgiven, as that is my latest big project and home to all the fluffy supercorp that I need in my life (okay not in the published chapters but IT WILL BE EVENTUALLY I PROMISE)
2. What fandom(s) do you create for? Right now just Supergirl, and I have only written three fics for that one so far (but hopefully more to come!) Before that it was Call the Midwife.
3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it? Supercorp, ie Kara/Lena for Supergirl (I know, I’m so quiet about it on this blog you would never have guessed). It occupies an interesting space of being simultaneously entirely non controversial in that it is by far the biggest ship I have ever engaged with, while also being extremely divisive, both within and beyond fandom spaces. But I arrived here LONG after most of that had happened, and am now just happily playing in the sandpit of creative space while the bones of drama stay *mostly* buried. Always a bit of a shock when one rises up to try and kick down your sandcastle though (yes, I am aware that that is a mildly horrifying visual)
4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon? They are not (TECHNICALLY), but there is enough raw material in canon to build The São João Baptista, and that is enough for me. That and the 21,302 (and counting) fics with their relationship tag on AO3.
5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you? The first I actually engaged with other fans over was Call The Midwife in my early 20s, and that was because I snapped after seeing one too many tv lesbians get hit by a car.
6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date? Unhinged is not really my brand so I don't really have anything good for this one. Is Kara gets accidentally miniaturized unhinged? Or a bait and switch Lena "villain" arc? I think probably not really to either, but that's the closest I've got for this fandom so far...
7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it? The aforementioned incident between Delia and a car, which left her with amnesia and taken away to Wales mere moments after she and Patsy had moved in together. But I’m over it. Honest.
8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations? Not usually, I get shy about it. The exceptions are my wife (but we met via fandom so that one maybe doesn’t count) and on occasion my best friend, who talked me round by being an enthusiastic sweetheart.
9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made? A few people have made fan art for my fics and it felt like the absolute highest compliment that could be paid to my writing. It was amazing to know that something I wrote meant enough to people to inspire them to go and create their own thing from it, and I loved getting to see other people’s takes on the version of the characters/story I had created. I think it's one of the best things about fandom communities! But I do understand why other people might feel differently about something they have poured so much of themselves into making, so I guess the main thing is trying to be respectful with it, crediting the source, and accepting people's boundaries. Basically I think we should all just be kind to each other and have fun.
10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations? I'm generally seeking my own catharsis through writing fix-it fic for painful things that happened in canon, so I guess a certain amount of pain followed by the eventual fluffy feel good satisfaction of resolution, but honestly I consider it a win if I can evoke a whole spectrum of emotions along the way.
11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it? Someone once liked my fic so much that she married me about it, so it’s hard to beat that haha. But on a more usual level, people making fanart for my fic was a HUGE one. And also just when people have left particularly in depth comments, commented on every chapter, told me they're rereading or that a fic of mine was their favourite etc... Basically just knowing that something I made has really meant something to someone gives me all of the warm fuzzy feelings, and I am very grateful to each and every person who has taken the time to tell me so!
12. What’s your favourite thing someone else has made that you’ve seen in the last 24 hours (and link it if you can find it again!) Originally I had the bouquet toss ficlet by @fazedlight here, because it just captures the characters so beautifully, but then I left this sitting in my drafts and it is now more than 24 hours ago that I saw it, so I'll add this adorable art by @awaitingrain, because LOOK AT IT! They are so cute??! Also I relate to gentle nomming as a display of affection XD
13. Give a small sneak preview of something you’re working on right now (eg a couple of sentences of fic from a WIP, a gif set theme, a small piece of a larger picture, whatever you feel happy to share) "Lena Luthor was dangling from the side of a cliff, nothing between her and the vast chasm of space below but the small jutting nodule she was clinging to to keep from falling.
How the hell had she ended up here?
Well. She knew how of course.
Kara Danvers was how."
14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several) SO MANY!! it’s hard to pick a favourite of hers honestly because she is a RIDICULOUSLY good writer, but I’m going to go with The Next Best Thing by @cynicalrainbows. I don’t tend to read many kidfics but this one is the absolute best I have come across, she captures the child perspective fantastically well while also being incredibly engaging and entertaining to an adult reader. It is what successfully pulled me into reading Six fanfic despite (at that point) never having seen the musical. Even if you haven’t either, I wholeheartedly recommend checking it out. Or go and read her new Paperdolls fic and help grow that fandom, which I think currently has all of two people in it!
15. Do you leave comments on fandom works, and if so how would you describe your comment style? I do! I know how much I love it when people do it for me, so I try to leave comments on every chapter of the fics I read (or add tag notes for tumblr art/fic reblogs), and give specifics about what I like about it. Sometimes I just fully liveblog the fic reading experience, which is always fun. I also find it makes you engage and appreciate the work more because you’re taking your time to really think about it, AND it makes an author happy to receive (at least so I hope), which makes me happy.
16. How many works in progress do you currently have? Will you finish them all? Not counting a couple of dump documents of ideas and snippets, technically 3, I guess? One is Forgotten, Not Forgiven (Supergirl) which is my big one and will definitely be finished. The others are less certain – Storybooks and Siren Suits (Call The Midwife) is the one kidfic I have ever written, and is both my longest story at 151,020 (published) words, and also the one I am least likely to finish, because it has been stuck on the same chapter for around 3 years now. The other is Small Problem… (Supergirl) which could be counted as a finished oneshot, but I will probably end up adding further Adventures of Tiny Kara at some point.
17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?Well, see above re: 3 year stall on new updates. For actually fully finished and published stories I think it was around 6 months.
18. Describe the thing you made most recently in a way that is technically true, but also completely misleading. Link the thing if it’s published! Lena discovers Kara in Lex’s bed, then decides to lure her into friendship under false pretenses. Alex helps her do it. Forgotten, Not Forgiven.
19. Do you ever engage with fanworks for a fandom you’re not in? Which one(s) and how did you get into it? See above re: getting into fanfiction for Six!
20. Recommend a fan work from your fandom to your followers That’s tough because there are so many amazing ones, but I think I will go with I Guess I Live Here Now by @fabulousglitch, because it was both the first fic I really got into for supercorp and also contained everything I wish the characters could have had in canon. I know I am several years late to the party so if you are in the supercorp fandom you have probably already read it, but if you haven’t read it GO READ IT, IT’S SO GOOD!
Suggested tag list, but there are no rules here, follow your heart.
A mutual you have never actually spoken to but think seems cool @nottawriter
The most recent person whose content you engaged with (eg read a fic, reblogged art, whatever form you feel best fits) @sideguitars (and I still owe you a comment on AO3 for that!)
Someone whose content you saw via tags/reblogs and you followed them because of it @sssammich
Someone in your fandom that you think makes cool things @fazedlight
Someone in a different fandom that you think makes cool things @havaamina
Someone you always tag on things like this @cynicalrainbows
Someone you have never tagged before @thatonebirdwrites
Someone you would like to get to know better @thecasualqueer
Someone who makes art you like @pea-green (I don't know if you still do fandom drawing/writing these days, but your commissioned art is still up in my house/in my profile picture and I love it so much)
Someone who writes fics you like @fabulousglitch

[main body of post text] **please do not add anything to this post i made it for myself** [end of post] wow that was exhausting. im so tired. i need to go lie down oh wait. no i don’t. because that took 15 seconds. but I suppose it also means you’d have to understand tumblr is a public space and you need to take some personal responsibility to communicate with people who might see your post away from your blog and then what would you have to whinge about lol
I’m offended that you think I can’t be worn down in 15 seconds, because reading your message accomplished just that, in record time. My, my.
This reveals, to me, an incredible misinterpretation of my intentions, so let me clarify.
I do not post anything here just for myself. I want people to add things to it. I love comments of many different kinds. Comments that add new ideas to compliment the original, comments that take a deeper look, even comments that disagree with the opinions of the original post, because that facilitates a discussion.
In fact, the post you are responding to, in which I put out an opinion on how we should interact on this website, was not just for myself. It wasn’t even just for people who have experienced similar redirects on their posts. It was for everyone in this fandom, because I think the separation of enjoyment and unrelated discourse would really help everyone feel better.
So, “please do not add anything to this post i made it for myself” would not only be inaccurate, it would be insufficient.
You also seem to think that I’m not taking responsibility for shaping the way my blog and posts are interacted with, when in fact, I care less about that and more about the fandom on large and the attempt to stay positive and cooperative. The post you’re responding to wasn’t meant to be a vague post showing annoyed I am about something someone said on one of my posts. I’m not mad at the blogs that changed the topic in the least. What I wrote was a genuine proposal on how we all might have a better fandom experience.
And even if I wrote something more accurate on each post about how I want people to stay on topic, it’d A. be like really ugly looking on the post and B. limit discussion a bit more than I really want to. What has been happening has become kind of a pattern, but I don’t want people to not comment slight changes of topic for fear that the op wouldn’t approve. I just wanted it to be on everyone’s mind. An active choice on the commenter’s part as they go throughout all of their commenting.
And you know, I wanted it to help the people who changed the topic of my post, too. I think it’s good for people who have feelings of dissent to, while having another space to express their feelings, also have a place to just enjoy things. Did you miss the part about constant discourse of upsetting issues causing you to be worn down and less effective? Hypervigilance is damaging, in the end.
And god, I don’t think it was wrong for them to change the topic. I don’t want anyone who has changed a topic on one of my posts to feel guilty or interpret that post as angry. I just think it begins to darken the fandom over time if the changes in topic themselves are of a negative mood, and I think it can make the original poster kinda sad tbh.
Imagine that you had painted a picture of a tree and presented it to your friends because you were proud of it and because you liked the colors you’d used.
A couple of your friends go “Oh, that’s really nice!” or “I like the mood of this one” “I like the colors you used, are they from your new water paints?” “How do those paints compare to the ones you had before?” “The contrasting colors remind me of this one painter...” and such things, that while not always exactly on topic and not always compliments or anything, are relevant and make you feel connected, make you feel like you have successfully completed a Human Contact Experience™.
But then you continue showing your tree painting to your other friends, and one person says “You know, that reminds me of this new statistic that came out on how many trees companies chop down in a year.”
And then another friend, who barely glances at your painting adds, “Oh, yeah, I heard that. It’s horrible what they’re doing!”
And then it all turns into an impassioned discussion about saving the forests as more and more of the friends you haven’t shown your painting to yet join in. And you’re just left standing there, awkwardly holding up your painting of a tree that no one is looking at anymore.
Now imagine that this is a conversation that has already happened many times before.
Now imagine that these things have been upsetting you, too, because you love trees. Imagine that that’s specifically why you painted the tree, to celebrate the good things about trees because you love them so much.
It’s disheartening. Especially when you were kind of secretly hoping to make everyone feel better about trees (I think I lost the metaphor right around here...).
Now, even if you don’t agree with this idea, I don’t think it’s wrong for me to discuss the importance of how we communicate. If this were a forum page, would you fault someone for saying, “Hey, in general, if we could stick to the topic of each thread, that’d be great”?
But suppose I commend your ability to see an attemptedly positive post about a technique we should all use to cooperate (one that starts off with a “Super” pun, I mean, come on now) and interpret it as a Fine “Whinge”™.
I guess I’m not used to posts that have gotten only like 18 notes earning a disagreeing (and pretty rude, bruh) anon. I mean, if you’re gonna disagree insultingly, at least reblog with your comment and give me a note.

RE: the tags about being tempted to post a half finished fic and guess the ending, well you are a reckless writer for a reason
this is long overdue, so here have a fic.
It has come to the point that nothing fazes her anymore.
A kidnapping? Been there, done that. It means calling Sam Arias to intimidate the board of members into temporary submission.
An explosion at the office? Just a typical Tuesday. It means relocating to the 23rd floor and sharing the desk with two other interns for 2 months tops.
An assassination attempt? It means bracing herself for at least 3 deliveries of donuts and coffee for the two following weeks that Kara Danvers would be protectively hovering over L-Corp, until her boss snaps and shoos her away back to CatCo.
She’s seen it all, endured it all and she sure as hell is prepared for it all. She’s got three different ironclad statements ready to publish for whatever PR disaster will most likely turn up that week. She’s got contacts from the FBI, DEO, CatCo, Daily Planet, Gotham Gazette-- hell she even has Lillian’s personal cell (just in case the Luthor matriarch ever tries anything y’know? ) and yes, even the number of that 'Mexican place at 5th and Spring, you know the one Kara likes, Jess?'
She’s got two pairs of heels, a raincoat and four sets of outfits neatly folded in a duffel bag, at the back of the office, reserved for any emergency that requires a change of clothes.
The point is, she is an independent Asian-American woman who has worked her ass off for the better part of the decade and has long learned to take no shit from anybody.
Not even stupid superpowered Kryptonians.
See, it takes a lot to be her. It takes unlimited patience to put up with a woman like Lena Luthor, not because she’s a terrible person. Oh no, no, the complete opposite, actually. She is so overwhelmingly kind to a fault, and she doesn’t want nor let anybody see it. It’s infuriating to see sometimes. Okay, fine, she sides with the Krytonian on that one matter. But oh, ho, ho, not today. Today, she’s mad.
She’s livid, actually and it’s all Supergirl’s fault. (and Lena Luthor's too.)
Jess has had her fair share of ‘I-Should-Not-Have-Been-Here’ moments, like that one time she forgot to knock and stumbled unto Lex mid-yell with Lena whose eyes were shimmering but was still keeping a rigid posture.
Or that one time when she thought her boss had long left the office, only to be greeted with quiet sobs and an empty bottle of scotch rolling on the floor. Or that time she happened upon Lena, skirt and sleeves on fire with fumes rising from a green solution.
Apparently, her staff from the lab refused to let her in after three days of their CEO holding herself in isolation with the experiment. Lena had gotten the great idea of smuggling the chemicals to her office instead. Luthors are nothing but determined. Jess still remembers the adrenaline rush of holding a fire extinguisher—as if she were the chosen 5th grader for a school fire drill—and shoving her boss out of the way.
Like she said, nothing fazes her anymore she’s seen it all, except maybe, this one. Yep, definitely this one. This one just made a hot ball of fury unfurl at her very core. This one might just take the cake.
Jess was just going about her day, returned from a hearty lunch and feeling reinvigorated from that dose of sunlight and fresh air. It was a quiet day today, she noticed, which should’ve been a foretelling.
Nothing really is ever quiet. Well, when it comes to L-Corp, at least.
She’s been sitting on her desk for about a good fifteen minutes and finished with screening a few papers from their new contractors, when it occurs to her that the latest blueprints from R&D are still on her desk instead of already being reviewed by her boss.
She grabs the drawing tube and quickly makes for her boss’s private office. They’ve spent enough time with each other that Jess could just come and go as she pleases, instead of having to knock each time. Saves both of their time, that way.
Although, usually, she buzzes through the intercom first to double check, but it was 1:20 P.M and she knows Lena doesn’t have anything scheduled after lunch. So, she pushes the door, confidently strolls in and promptly stops in her tracks.
Jess stops breathing for a moment, blinks once, twice, stares at the scene before her.
Lena Luthor sat atop her work desk; blouse open, eyes closed, cheeks flushed, neck currently being ravaged by Supergirl with legs wrapped around the waist.
She probably should’ve just turned and left while they haven’t seen her yet. That would’ve been the smart decision, right? Yes. Yes, it was so very clearly The Right Decision.
Of course, she doubts she could look Lena in the eye for the next few weeks after that, but at least she wouldn’t know that Jess walked in on them during an er- make-out session? Office tryst? Oh God, she shudders internally. It sounds even worse.
Incident? Yep. Yeah. She’s sticking with incident. Indecent incident sounds more apt really.
She should’ve left. Would have left, if her eyes didn’t just land on the desk—well, more like Miss Luthor’s as- backside—and felt the stirrings of rage make itself known. Because there, underneath Lena’s ass (Backside!! Jess, that’s your boss!) is the squished—probably crumpled—pages of a contract.
A contract they’ve spent 5 months securing!!
Jess decides to do what everyone else would have done in a situation such as this; she clears her throat. Loudly.
Classic move.
Supergirl’s head immediately shoots up and Lena’s eyes snap open.
“Jess!” Supergirl squeaks and she sees the exact moment the realization hits Lena. Her eyes widening at her girlfriend’s exclamation, whips her head to the side, spots Jess, hands scrambling to a panic to close all the buttons of her blouse.
She hears Lena hiss, “Fuck, shit. Oh my God. Shit. How did she even- You have superhearing!!!” as she pushes Supergirl—who lets herself be pushed, stunned by the intrusion, face redder than a tomato.
Lena gets off the desk, fixes herself all the while to futile results. Her hair is tugged down from her usual ponytail, her neck and chest is marked, her lips swollen.
Supergirl's hands twitch at the sides and Jess sees her gulp as blue eyes frantically dart to Lena and her, and then Lena, and then back to her.
Lena finally turns around after those few awkward beats.
"Jess," she begins, clearly trying hard to put on her business bitch persona, but come on, there's a hickey under her jaw for fuck's sake.
"It's not what you-"
Jess doesn’t let her finish, she stomps her way across the office and forcefully puts the drawing tube on the desk. It makes a hollow thump.
“Jess I-”
“Supergirl, do you know how long it takes to finalize a business proposal, pitch it to the board, persuade the board and finally have a contract drawn?”
Supergirl gulps again. Lena’s eyes are wild next to her, she doesn’t like not knowing what the next best move is, Jess knows this all too well.
“Uhhh- no?”
Jesus Christ, you’d think after years of shadowing Cat Grant, she'd had at least learned a thing or two. Then again, if somebody is full on glaring at her after getting caught red-handed, Jess doubts she could answer coherently too.
“That’s right,” Jess says, “You don’t.”
“Jess,” Lena repeats pointedly. She knows that tone. It’s a warning.
“Ms. Luthor.”
A period not a question mark. It’s a challenge.
"I've spent all my evenings working late on that, do you know how many dates I've had to cancel? Just so I can secure a meeting with Qatar and simultaneously sync it with Beijing's time? My boyfriend hasn't seen me in two weeks!” Jess bursts out.
“Two weeks, Supergirl!” She gets close enough to jab a finger to the Girl of Steel’s chest. A feat she will gladly tell all her coworkers later when she’s calmed down enough.
“Not to mention, the 10 other people who worked their ass off trying to make sure that Miss Luthor's presentation is airtight, bulletproof and waterproof!” Lena has the decency to look a little guilty at this point, nothing big though, just a slight tug at her lips, but it was enough for Jess.
“IT TOOK ME 3 FUCKING MINUTES TO PRINT THAT GODDAMN CONTRACT WHICH MIGHT NOT SOUND LONG—” Jess raises a finger in emphasis, “BUT BELIEVE ME WORKING IN L-CORP? A 3 MINUTE DIFFERENCE CAN MEAN AN ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT OR PSYCHOPATH PRESS!”
Supegirl of all people should already know this! For fuck’s sake!
Jess’s chest is heaving. She takes a deep breath, kneads her knuckles to her eyelids, “So, please if you're gonna have sex in the office, please, pleaseeeee clear the desk first. And at least, lock the door.”
She stares them both down, till Lena gives her a solemn nod; cheeks and ears still red. Supergirl squeaks out an, “U-understood, Ma’am.”
“Good. Glad we’ve come to an agreement.” Jess gives them one final nod before finally fulfilling what she came in here to do, “Miss Luthor,” She turns to Lena, “here are the R&D blueprints. Good day, to you Supergirl. I'll be going now. "
When she finally goes home, tells her boyfriend, and wonders aloud if she’ll still have a job the next morning, he tells her she’s such a badass.
And well, Jess can’t disagree with that.
*****
"Did I just- Did I just get yelled at by your secretary?? D-did she just chew us out?"
"She did, and she deserves a raise."

When it Reigns Part 5

It took some more investigative journalism, but you and Kara found out that it was Edge who was behind poisoning the kids. He orchestrated the plan to have chemicals dumped into the pool, and then to frame Lena further by dumping the same chemicals into National City’s water supply. Luckily with some saving from Supergirl, Edge was thrown behind bars and a cure was made for the families afflicted. You sighed for a day well done and you were in the process of saying good night to Angel.
“Will Luke be okay?” she asked you and you smiled.
“Yes. He should be getting better as we speak.”
You leaned down and kissed her forehead when Angel froze.
“Hey what’s wrong?”
She blinked. “You have a hole in your shirt.”
You looked down to see what she was talking about. Sure enough, there was a tear in the fabric of your blouse, and you held it in confusion, wondering how it got there.
“Oh, weird,” you said, shrugging it off. “Sweet dreams, okay?”
Angel nodded before she closed her eyes and you left quietly, smiling fondly as your daughter drifted off to sleep. As you walked down the hall, you felt at the tear in your shirt, and as you kept playing with it, something cold and metallic fell from the torn threads and landed on the floor with a sharp clang. You paused, bending over to pick up the object, and when you inspected it, you saw that it was a bullet.
You were…shot.
And you didn’t feel it.
Your hands went to your stomach, feeling around for anything unusual. You even lifted your shirt to see if there was anything wrong. There was nothing. Just the expanse of smooth and unharmed flesh. You swallowed hard as you looked up, seeing nothing but the emptiness of the hallway in front of you. You couldn’t ignore any of this anymore. You needed answers, so you went into your room and packed a small travel bag. You’d be gone for a day tops and hopefully, you would find what you needed. As you packed, you dialed for Kara, and she answered in the first ring.
“Y/n is everything okay?” she asked, and you smiled. Your darling wife, ever the worrier.
“I’m fine babe,” you replied with the smile playing at your lips. “I was wondering if you would be okay with watching Angel. I need to take a trip.”
You could practically hear Kara fix her glasses while shifting her weight from one foot to the other. “Is everything okay?” she asked again.
“I think so. I just need to pay a visit to my mother.”
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?”
The question was justified. The relationship between you and your adopted parental figure was less than stable. You’d soon go to hell voluntarily before stepping foot in her house again, but this was important. Something was going on with you and you needed answers. You had to start somewhere.
“I’ll be fine, I promise.”
Kara accepted your promise, trusting that you would be fine like you said. “Okay, just come back soon.”
You smiled. “I love you.”
“I love you more,” you replied, and you disconnected the call.
***
Kara nibbled her lips, staring at the screen when you disconnected the call. She couldn’t help but think that something wears wrong and that you wanted her to think that everything was okay. Whatever it was, she knew that she would have to wrap this up soon. Angel was already home, and judging by the clock on Kara’s phone, was also in bed.
“…Kara?”
Kara looked up to see everyone in the DEO staring at her and she hastily put her phone back in her pocket.
“Sorry.”
“Is everything okay?” Alex asked and Kara shrugged. That was all she could do.
She was so worried about you. Ever since Angel told her about your selective memory loss, she had been so preoccupied with you that it was evoking distracting. She knew she should have followed up with that. She trusted you, as she did, but something was telling her to dive deeper into it and she ignored it. What could be going on that you felt the need to reach out to a woman that you had spoken to in years? Was everything that bad? And what about when Angel got hurt. Angel told her that it was a city light pole that fell on top of her, but she had been less than forthcoming with the details as to how she got free from under it. Things weren’t making any sense.
“Kara?”
Kara blinked and focused on everyone again. Alex had asked her a question and she went on a mental spiral.
“I’m fine,” she said quickly, but everyone looked at each other with skepticism. If Kara was truly okay, she wasn’t very convincing about it.
“Are you sure?” Alex asked, mirroring Kara’s early question to you. She nodded.
“Yes. Let’s focus on what caused the earthquake.”
Alex gave her once last look, her eyes searching. Kara nodded, her eyes focused on hers, knowing that she would know what it meant. We’ll talk later. Alex nodded before turning her attention back to the giant screens in front of her.
“Go ahead, Winn.”
Winn typed on his tablet before he dragged his finger across the screen, his wrist flicking, before what was on his tablet appeared on screens for everyone to see. On them was a map, with a single dot highlighted on a specific location. From the dot came virtual shockwaves that pulsed from the single location and spread outwards.
“I was able to pinpoint the exact location of the earthquake,” he explained. “But theres nothing out there.”
Beside him, J’onn nodded and crossed his arms. “I flew from the center and covered the entire area of coverage. There’s nothing there except cracked earth and debris.”
“So, if there’s nothing there, where did the earthquake come from?” Kara asked.
“That’s the mystery,” Winn said as he turned his attention back to the pulsating dot on the screen. Kara watched as the shockwaves emanated from the point over and over, the feeling of foreboding sending a chill down her spine.
***
You pulled up to your mother’s house and put the car in park. She still lived all the way out in Metropolis and was still in the same house and everything. It was like nothing changed. Well almost nothing. She may have stayed the same, but you changed entirely. No matter what happened, you promised to keep your cool. There was a reason why you never so much as sent her a Christmas card. So, you took a deep breath and squared your shoulders, before getting out of the car and knocking on the door. It took a bit of knocking but she finally answered, and she looked at you like she had seen a ghost.
“Y/n?”
“Hello, Elizabeth,” you greeted. “May I come in?”
After some small talk and a glass of water that you still hadn’t drank from, it was finally time to address the elephant in the room. Though if it were up to you, the elephant wouldn’t need to be pointed out anyway. Just acknowledge it and move on.
“I haven’t seen you since…” Elizabeth swallowed thickly, a nervous chuckle escaping her. “Well, you know.
“I couldn’t imagine why you’d expect me to keep in touch after you kicked me out.”
“I did that to teach you a lesson!”
She still believed that? Even after all these years?
“That’s odd because that wasn’t what it felt like.”
She looked away from you, her eyebrows furrowed in hurt, and you had to resist the urge to scoff. Her little act wasn’t going to work on you. You decided that you had enough with strolling down memory lane.
“Do you know where I can find my birth parents?” you asked. At that, her head snapped up and she met your eyes.
“Why?”
“That doesn’t matter. Do you know or not?”
She didn’t answer, she only stared at you, and you could feel your irritation grow. You never asked her of anything, not since she kicked you out, and now that you were asking about your real parents, after all these years, now she wanted to give you a hard time???
“I’m sorry,” was all she said. You smirked and she looked at you.
“You have got to be kidding me. Then at least tell me which adoption agency you adopted me from.”
Elizabeth shook her head, and you actually snapped your fingers, pointing at her as your irritation morphed into rage.
“I’ve never asked you for anything once you threw me out, and this is how you want to play this?!”
“That was to teach you a lesson,” she repeated, like the explanation would make everything okay.
“That what?” you demanded. “That it was never okay for me to like who I liked?”
“You know that I didn’t approve of your homosexual escapades.”
“Oh yeah, and then I dated a guy to make you happy. Good thing for me that he knocked me up and left the moment he found out I was pregnant. I was 19! I needed someone there for me! I needed my mom!”
“Y-you were pregnant?” she whispered, horrified that she hadn’t known until now.
“Yes! And you would have known that if you had just listened to me!”
Elizabeth had thrown you to the side after finding out that you had sex with him. She wanted a good Christian daughter, one that followed every rule in the Bible. That wasn’t you, and no matter how much she tried to force you to learn, or how much she forced you to go to church, it would never be you. Even now. You were happily married and trying your damnedest with your daughter. The relationship with her sperm donor may have been a huge mistake, but Angel never will be that. She was so much more. She was the reason you never gave up, and the woman that was in front of you, was the reason why you never learned to be a good mom. You spent your whole life being what she wanted for her sake.
“Did you keep it?” Elizabeth whispered.
“Her name is Angel,” you said sternly, and you had the satisfaction of watching her flinch. “And I guess by technicality you do have a granddaughter.”
“How is she?”
You stared at her, really stared at her, incredulous that she thought that she had the right to ask about Angel.
“If you think that I would let you, with your religious, Bible thumping poison and rhetoric around her, then I must be on crack.”
Elizabeth sighed. “I’m sorry.”
It was way too late for sorry. That wouldn’t work on you either.
“Do you know anything about my birth parents or the adoption agency that you got me from?” you asked again.
“Why do you want to know so bad?”
You had to stop yourself from screaming in from frustration. Instead, you took a deep breath and looked down.
“Things have been happening to me, Elizabeth,” you started as you looked at her intensely. I keep blacking out to do only God knows what and then I have no recollection of going anywhere or saying anything. Earlier this week, a pole fell on my daughter, and I lifted it clear above my head and threw it away as though it weighed nothing. Yesterday I was at a press conference when someone open fired into the crowd. I was shot, Elizabeth, and I didn’t feel anything. I pulled the crushed bullet from my clothes but there were no marks, no cuts, no anything. The past few weeks have been weird, and I swallowed the anger I have with you to ask you for your help. Now if you know anything, now would be the time to tell me.”
Elizabeth looked at you and was quiet. It seemed like she wasn’t going to say anything until she nodded her head, deciding something internally, before she looked at you.
“Follow me. I want to show you something.”

Fic writer review [Or a fic writer tag game if you prefer]
I was tagged by @naralanis and I can already see her grin all the way from where I am xd Thank you, dear, for the tag, let’s see what are my answers, shall we.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
*bursts out laughing* Adding both pseuds I have… 535 according to the account info but by counting them all I’m reaching 541 so I’m guessing it’s counting some drafts I need to re-find.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
I seriously hated you for this one xd I was going to do it by hand by I decided one-third there that I value my mental stability a little bit more xd according to the stats page back at a03 that number would be 1257884. It may be wrong. I think there should be a few more numbers up there but the majority of my works are one-shots so *shrugs* There’s also the fact that counting my ao3 things only is shaving off like half of it Xd Anyway, can we laugh at the fact that I’m a pain in the ass and that I’ve written a lot? More than I should have, that’s for sure
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Trick question because I haven’t crossposted everything I wrote back in ffnet and I actually erased some fics from my account back there so the numbers are a little blurry there.
When I had the entirety of my work posted both in ffnet and a03 I had written for: Twilight (Bella/Alice) Glee (Faberry and there were a couple Pezberry and I don’t fucking remember the pairing name for Santana and Quinn), Harry Potter (Hermione/Ginny, Hermione/Narcissa, Hermione/Bellatrix) OUAT (SwanQueen and several oneshots focusing on the mad hatter and the blue fairy solely back at ffnet that were written in Spanish and never translated), I actually had a veeeery old au prompt of Frozen (Elsanna in where I wrote them as non sibilings), Rizzoli and Isles (Rizzles), Dishonored 2 (Emily Kaldwin/Alexi Mayhew), Lara Croft and Wonder Woman, Supergirl (SuperCorp/Supercat) I had a 100 one -or maybe two??- (Clexa), The Shannara Chronicles (Amberle/Eretreia [Or Princess Rover], Rwby [Blake Belladona/Yang], The Worst Witch (Hecate Hardbroom and Pippa Pentangle), The Half of it, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Madam Satan/Zelda Spellman) and… I think that’s it(?) I may be forgetting some but probably nothing important if I’m not remembering it lol.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Ah, we are going to go there, uh? Xd My works are not the kudos and comment getting type Xd So I was quite surprised when I went to check this.
1: Cracked it I wrote this one back in 2017, it was a prompt done by an anon: Lena is nerding with one of her projects at home, mumbling mostly to herself because she’s stuck and Kara casually mentions how to solve the problem like it’s nothing. I really had some fun with this. It was back when some us, SQeeners were fully doing the jump between OUAT and SuperGirl (I mean, there had already been some crossover as for fandom is related but this when the girls were actually getting their conjoined voice within the fandom)
2: Dateless I honestly needed to check what this one was about but I think I can see why this one shot has the amount of kudos it has. It’s a short and sweet idea and responds to the Teachers Au that went SO well with SQ. Everyone thinks they hate each other and try to set them up with other people whilst they, in truth, are dating. I don’t remember if I wrote them as married rather than dating but despite being from 2017 as well is one cheeky enough to be cool Xd I probably would edit some lines now *shudders*
3: After you I truly didn’t expect this one to be top 3. Makes me think of a lot of things, if I’m being honest Xd. After you was a one shot written almost feverishly as an answer to the fabulous drawings that Sejic did of both Lara Croft and Wonder Woman back at 2018 or something. It’s just Lara and Diana being himbos but not at all with each other.
4: How about… How about is one I remember perfectly, it was my answer to the ending of the Half of it film. I had SOME thoughts about it, let’s just stop there Xd I really liked the film itself but I think and I thought at the time that my response to wishing for a final scene at the very end of the credits responds to me being in a different personal moment than the characters. I really wanted to explore my feelings about it and so I wrote about them finding each other again after some time passes. It was also something I wrote after quite the hiatus so I took it as something I could write about without focusing too much on the why.
5: Come to me
Ahh, SuperCorp Xd I remember this one actually. A friend of mine and I were talking about descriptions, and she mentioned quite off-handedly how she wanted a fic in where Kara’s back was described. I complied… more or less.
Fun tidbit, despite the big volume of my work is obviously set in ouat there’s only 1 SQ fic there as you can see, the others are either SuperCorp or the random one shots I created for Wonderwoman/Lara Croft and The half of it. *sighs in deep thought* I’m also not going to look too much into how almost all of the fics were posted and written back in 2017. Nope, not at all.
*Small voice screaming you peaked in 2017 and everything else is garbage jumps back and forth*
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
I tend to always respond, yup. I truly value comments. I might have gone for spells of time in where I didn’t have the mental capacity to check in old fics because I truly didn’t know what to answer but I treasure every single comment and you all who comment know that I can start to ramble in the answers xd -sorry about that- I really really REALLY love interaction.
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending:
Ok, Nara, come on, this one is a catch for me. I’ve written angst in far too many fics to remember the angstiest one :P I have the most recent one, though, that is the easy one to think about: Goodbye.Written for @delirious-comfort. I’m just going to say “Kisses with their last dying breath” as an idea of what awaits inside but I’ve written about death and loss and angst quite a lot. There were some I wrote back to SQ with Regina needing to kill Emma during the Dark Swan arc that, to this day, I still love and some others in where Regina is the one that dies, again and again, trapped by magic while Emma watches. I have the loss in mental destruction form and… I REALLY like my angst y’know xd
7. Do you write crossovers?
Not counting Lara and Wonder Woman not really! I think it comes from the fact that I loooove worldbuilding as a whole and some pairings would require all my focus into making the world perfect which in turn would make me self conscious on the OOCness of it all.
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
*snorts* I’ve received hate due to the pairing I’ve written about, how I’ve written about it, the amount I’ve written, how slow or quick I can be, the usage of some tropes, the lack of usage of those same tropes… Let’s just go with: yuuuup.
9. Do you write smut?
I’ve written smut, yeah! But I can already see the pointed looks of some so let’s elaborate Xd I write smut when asked and sometimes when not asked but there’s a part of me I like to call a terrible tease that prefers writing the beginning of a scene, taunt it, focus on what happens before the sex scene per se as I find it more enjoyable to write. The process of escalation is always the best for me to see what can I do it by using both dialogue and descriptors tbh, so I tend to tease more than show.
9. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
A few weeks ago I’d have said: Maybe(?) But trying to follow the trail of some other fics that had been stolen from some friends -I think it was me trying to find more about the page that stole something from your Nara!- I found some pages in where my fics had been reposted. In some it was stated that the person posting the fic wasn’t the author but I had never been contacted in order to see if I’d say yes to such a thing and in some others the page was locked up but I could still see someone was pretending to be the author. I did the thing and got some of those down.
Pointed note: Ask me if you want to post or translate or anything. I will look into you and answer you if you seem honest about the thing. But despite every joke and self-deprecating comment those 500 and then some fics represent MY time so very kindly I say fuck off to those who wish to steal from me and if I catch you… you don’t really want to see me angry, trust me.
10. Ever had a fic translated?
I’ve given permission to some, yeah, but never heard it back from them so I’m guessing it didn’t stick.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
I’ve written series alongside other authors as @stregaomega for example. And some others that are unpublished -looking at you @carsonnieve - I’ve also done collabs… but fics co-written in the sense of two authors same chapters I don’t have anything posted I’m afraid :P
13. All-time favourite ship?
*snorts*, I guess the obvious answer is SQ uh? And I do think they were the ones that allowed me to read and write SO much. The one I feel more strongly about, however, is Bering and Wells from Warehouse 13.
14. WIP you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
All of them counts as a valid answer? But if I only could finish one that would be Arcadia. With A forgotten Promise second and the one I did as an Assassins Creed AU third. (I don’t remember the name so there’s no link, sorry xd)
15. Writing strengths?
Uhhhh, you REALLY want me to say that? I don’t fucking know!! To me everything I write is garbage. I always try to go for the feelings so I guess. Dunno xd I’ve been told I’m good at worldbuilding and to be honest is what I enjoy the most.
16. Writing weaknesses?
Everything Xd Pacing? What I hate the most sometimes is dialogue, I would count it as a weakness but I’m always far too focused on description rather than dialogue. I don’t think it’s a bad thing per se but it’s something that I don’t do as much.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I’m conflicted. Always. Majorly because I think that having bilingual characters in fanfiction is portrayed and expected in a way that I don’t feel it’s honest with how bilingual people -us- talk. So if I go by what I know I do I think it’s not what readers hope to see when it comes to that and if I go for how canonically is hoped to be found I don’t think it’s logical. But that’s me and my overthinking Xd If I have the option I like to do it.
18. First fandom you ever wrote for?
Belice! Or Bella/Alice. Worst first fic ever but oh, well, I’m always saying that :P
19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?
Uhh… Don’t make me do this XD Agh, I don’t know. I’ve always been very vocal about Metallic Ink because I let myself enjoy the process of creating a magic system almost out of zero and that was fun. Despite hating some of the writing process and that I’d do it differently now I think I’m going to stick with that answer. Or anything that had any steampunk-based undertone. To be honest I like more thinking of concepts, I had one in where Emma was a thief and it involved the robbery of a ring that was Regina’s one way ticket to freedom I then later repurposed that I adored thinking about so let’s go with…. Yeah, I love having the option of changing things up a little and focus on how characters would fit in different aesthetics for this one Xd
Annnd… these are four pages, gods. I’m just going to tag @waknatious @carsonnieve @stregaomega here and see what they do- Enjoy the questionnaire ladies :P

Emma is wrapped up in Lena’s arms as they watch a Friends episode. Well, they were trying to watch it but Emma keeps turning her head to gaze lovingly up at her girlfriend. Smiling and enjoying the feelings of happiness within her before focusing back on the tv.
The girlfriends had made out for some time after Lena asked Emma to move in with her. Until the pair were broken up by Lena’s phone ringing out, causing the raven haired beauty to groan deeply and rest her head on Emma’s shoulder. Her groan increased in volume when Emma moved off of her lap to allow Lena to get to the phone in her bag.
Emma had watched Lena pace back and forth while discussing the headache of an issue that has risen from the negotiations with Japan. Instinctively Lena wanted to rush back to L-Corp to sort out the problem immediately. But when the raven haired turned around to pace to the other side of the room her eyes met her girlfriend’s and Emma gave her a reassuring smile, indicating it was okay if she left. However Lena made the choice to stay and ended the call soon after. Stating she would deal with it first thing in the morning.
Finally getting back onto the bed and pulling Emma into her arms while voice commanding the tv to resume their favorite show.
Once settled, Emma snuggles her head further into Lena’s arm, placing a gentle kiss on the skin there. Warmth fills the CEO as she glances down and returns the kiss by placing one on the blonde’s head. Emma lets out a puff of air, like a sigh of content, and smiles into her girlfriend’s arm.
They watch a few more episodes before Lena lets out a big yawn that makes her body tense and shake.
Emma twists her head to watch her girlfriend and suddenly her mouth opens wide too with a yawn. Afterwards she sits up and studies the tired raven haired beauty.
“Aw someone is sleepy.” Emma signs and smirks when Lena blinks and shakes her head. “Love I can see how exhausted you are.”
“I’m okay.” Lena says but immediately yawns, causing Emma to yawn again too. She lightly pushes Lena’s shoulder and the pair laugh, Emma’s letting out spurts of heavy breaths of air as her diaphragm moves sharply.
The blonde then lifts an eyebrow up at her girlfriend. “As much as I love you being here, don’t you need to go home and sleep? Especially with the day you are going to have tomorrow?” Emma tilts her head to the side and gives Lena a questioning look.
“Are you sure love?” Lena asks as she intwines their fingers. The blonde nods, leaning in to kiss Lena’s lips softly.
“Keep doing that and I won’t want to leave.” Lena says with a deep moan, pressing their foreheads together.
A knock on the door pulls them apart and Eliza walks in.
“Oh sorry! I didn’t mean to interrupt.” Eliza keeps her hand on the door handle and looks ready to quickly back away.
Lena smiles and pauses the show. “It’s okay.” She says to the older blonde and feels Emma squeeze her hand to get her attention. Lena focuses back on Emma and watches her sign.
“Can you tell Mom our news?” Emma grins happily, bouncing on the bed excitedly and repeatedly glances at both her Mom and girlfriend. Causing her Mom to arch an eyebrow at her daughter.
“Eliza, please come in, we have something to share with you.” Lena says a bit hesitant. Realising she hadn’t asked Emma’s Moms opinion, which Lena greatly values.
“Alright.” Eliza gently closes the door behind her and makes her way over to the bed, sitting on the edge and waits expectantly.
“I-er-well-” Lena mentally slaps herself, fear of Eliza’s disapproval starts overwhelming her. Until Emma reaches out and holds her hand. Grounding the raven haired beauty. Lena swallows and clears her throat. “As Lucy may have told you Emma will be discharged soon and I-” Lena trails off for a moment. “I asked Emma to move in with me.”
Lena can’t help but whisper the last bit. Internally eye rolling at herself. ‘A Luthor must never show their fear, or any emotion that gives them away.’ Lillian’s voice echoes coldly in her ears.
That’s until Eliza’s face lights up with a beaming smile. “That’s wonderful news!” The older blonde claps and reaches out, engulfing the two women in a group hug. The Danvers matriarch pulls back, grasping both Emma and Lena’s hands before focusing on her daughter. “I’m guessing you said yes?”
Emma nods quickly and matches her Mom’s smile.
“That’s wonderful sweetheart. I was thinking what would happen when you’d leave here but I needn’t have worried.”
Relief fills Lena, until she quickly lifts a hand to her mouth and yawns. Emma turns her head to hide her yawning as well. No matter who yawns Emma can’t help but yawn as well. “Sorry.” Lena sincerely apologises.
“It’s okay sweetheart.” Eliza searches Lena’s fatigued eyes. “Looks like you need to head to bed.”
The CEO nods and squeezes Eliza’s hand before cupping Emma’s face and kissing her goodnight. “See you tomorrow love. Sleep well.”
Lena gracefully slides off the bed, slipping her feet into her heels. Almost moaning out in pain as her feet loudly protest.
“Goodnight sweetheart.” Eliza kisses Emma’s forehead and hugs her daughter close. She watches as Lena quietly slips out of the room and Eliza quickly gets up to follow. She gently closes the door behind her, watching Emma briefly through the glass as she immediately grabs her notebook, flicking through the pages and starts writing. Eliza recognises Emma’s expression and knew her daughter was writing something for a song.
Taking her eyes off her daughter Eliza turns to locate Lena down the corridor and spots her quickly heading towards the elevator. “Lena.” she calls and hastily goes after her daughter’s girlfriend.
Lena screeches to a halt. ‘Oh no, she disapproves.’ Lena thinks and feels her hands starting to get clammy. Slowly she turns to Eliza who chuckles at her expression.
“Don’t look so worried.” The older blonde tries to reassure the other woman. “I just wanted to see how you are after our last conversation.” Lena feels herself relax slightly at Eliza’s words, but her tension is still present, not allowing herself to fully let down her guard. “So, what I want to ask is, how are you?” Eliza kindly asks.
“I’m fine.” Lena answers automatically but Eliza gives her a knowing look.
“Really?” The older blonde states before taking a deep breath. “Look Lena, I know you struggle opening up to people. It’s not hard to imagine what life was like for you growing up in the Luthor household. But you don’t have to hide how you’re feeling. Really, truly feeling.”
Lena’s eyes widen slightly as she feels the tears build and her throat getting tight with emotion. She quickly lowers her eyes to hide it. Until Eliza places a hand gently on her shoulder.
“Lena, look at me.”
Glistening green eyes slowly lift back up.
“As I have said before, you are practically family and whenever you need me, whatever time it is, call me.” Eliza tenderly wipes a tear from the raven haired woman’s face.
Lean swallows to try and relieve the tightness in her throat. “I will.” Her phone buzzes in her bag and she quickly pulls it out. “My driver is here, do you need a lift to where you are staying?”
“No thank you, I’m going to work a little bit longer on the samples.” Eliza answers and they walk to the elevator. Eliza hopes her daughter’s girlfriend has heard what she said and taken it on board.

Alex breathes out quickly as she extends her arms, pushing herself up from the ground before slowly lowering herself back down again.
Kara lowers her book and stares at her redheaded sister from the bed. “Alex?” The blonde asks with concern, causing Alex to pause and lift her head up at her. “You’ve been working out for hours.”
“And?” Alex huffs out as she continues her push ups.
“And you should be winding down for bed.” Kara crosses her arms at her sister’s attitude.
“Can’t.” The redhead grits out. Her arms and shoulders are screaming from the strain. But she stubbornly pushes through.
“Why?”
Alex pauses slightly before continuing her push ups. “When I stop- doing something- my thoughts just get-” Her voice dwindles. Not wanting to say it out loud.
“They get really loud.” Kara finishes for her and Alex nods, jutting her jaw out. “Then, maybe you need to speak them out. To stop them overwhelming you.” The blonde repeats what Doctor Jackson had told her the other day in their therapy session when Kara had been tight lipped about how she was feeling.
“Yes Doctor Danvers.” Alex quips back, standing and grabbing a bottle of water from the table. Her eyes find the painting Emma had done earlier of Kara and Alex. Sam had placed it into the container and Kara eagly took it out to study it.
Alex eyebrows knit together as she looks down at herself. Knowing it had unsettled her seeing how Emma had captured both the carefree laughter but also the tears from her earlier confession about her impending break up with Kelly.
More than anything Alex wants to jump into the painting and get back to that moment. To stop Kara and herself going into the trap later that day that ruined everything.
Alex leans heavily against the table, her shoulders slumping forward. She is desperate to see Emma. To hold her and apologise over and over for the words she said. For hurting her mentally and physically. But her fear was holding her back.
“I’m scared too.” Kara’s voice whispers softly next to her. Sensing Alex’s distress and taking in her defeated posture.
“Are we strong enough?” Alex murmurs so quietly only Kara could have heard her.
“I don’t know.” Kara wraps her arms around her sister. “But I know we have to try. For Emma.”
Alex nods, her face distorts and the tears she had been trying to hold back start breaking free.
“Let it out. Emma once told me that you get sick if you hold it all in.”
Alex lets out a wet laugh. “Yea I remember. Wasn’t she ten?”
“A very wise ten year old.” Kara agrees, leading Alex over to their joined beds and sitting down. “But you are deflecting.” She gently strokes Alex’s cheek.
“I should have protected her.” A vein pulses in Alex’s forehead as she tries to hold back her building sobs. Her eyes squint and her face distorts.  “She’s a part of my heart. You both are. And I should- I should have protected her.”
“Me too. But it was out of our control.” Kara gulps out as her eyes well up with tears.
Alex rocks as the building pain inside her starts becoming overwhelming. The redhead lifts her fingers and pinches the bridge of her nose, signaling her distress.
Kara gently reaches out and takes her sister’s hand. “Let it go Alex.” Kara whispers softly, carefully squeezing the redhead’s hand.
Finally Alex lets out an anguished cry, her heart clenching in pain and Kara pulls her into a hug. Letting her own tears fall and their sobs echo around the cell.

Time stands still Beauty in all she is I will be brave I will not let anything take away What’s standing in front of me Every breath Every hour has come to this
One step clos-
Emma pauses her writing. She frowns at why she suddenly feels anxious. It’s been happening on and off since she woke up. Random moments where her heart would clench and she just wants to sob. The blonde stares at the love song she had been writing.
A Thousand Years
Was neatly written on the top of the page. But Emma quickly places the pen on the page and puts it down beside her. She jumps off the bed and starts pacing her room. Her frown deepens as she tries to figure out why she suddenly feels so restless.
Grabbing her new phone Emma opens her messages to her girlfriend.
Emma: Hi love, just checking you got home okay?
She sighs in relief when the three dots appear.
Lena: Yes I just got in.
Emma: Awesome, I hope tomorrow goes well. Sleep well!
Lena: You too. I love you ❤️
Emma: Love you too 😘
Emma throws her phone onto the bed and continues pacing. Placing her hands on her hips and lowering her head as she tries to identify the source of her sudden anxiety.
A loud, frantic knock halts her movements and she quickly turns to the door.
“Em? What’s wrong?” Lucy enters with a frown, having seen the agitated Emma through the glass in the door.
Emma runs a hand through her hair before shrugging.
“You don’t know?” Lucy tries to guess from Emma’s body movements.
Emma shakes her head in confirmation.
“Well, do you wanna write about it? Maybe we can figure it out?”
Emma grabs her notebook and makes her way over to the sofa, crossing her legs and leaning against the arm. Lucy follows her and copies her friend.
‘Lena asked me to move in, but I don’t think it’s that.’ Emma holds up the pad and Lucy smiles that Lena found the courage to ask Emma.
“What was your answer?”
Emma does a small smile and nods.
Lucy does a little squeal and claps happily, causing Emma’s smile to widen. “Are you worried about it?” Lucy tilts her head as she asks and Emma shakes her head. “Okay, keep writing.”
‘Are Alex and Kara okay?’
“Yea they seemed to be when I left them earlier. Said they were gonna think about seeing you soon and that they love you too.”
Emma's eyes light up at the news. She had heard it from Lena but having Lucy tell her as well gives her more hope.
But her smile fades and she looks down to write her next question. ‘Any news from Doctor Sloan?’
Lucy takes in a deep breath and Emma watches her carefully. “Yes there is actually.”
Emma fidgets slightly. Crossing her fingers under her notepad.
“He’s been researching and looking over the pictures he took. He would like Doctor Hamilton to take some more photos in a few weeks and would then consider operating after that from a few weeks to a month.”
Emma’s eyebrows shoot up into her hairline and hurriedly writes.
‘That’s quick.’
“Well, this hasn’t really been natural has it?”
‘Guess not.’
Emma leans back into the corner of the sofa as she ponders what Lucy has told her.
“Emma?” The brunette watches her friend’s face. The contemplation etched there. “Emma?” Lucy tries again and barely bloodshot eyes connect with her.
Emma doesn’t move for a moment. Her heart beats anxiously inside her. Slowly she lifts her pen and writes. ‘Do you think it will work?’
“Honestly, I don’t know.” Lucy swallows and keeps her eye contact with her friend. “I wish I could say, one hundred percent, that it would work. But with anything like this, there are always risks involved.”
Emma nods sadly, placing her elbow on the top of the sofa and resting her head in her hand. She picks up the pen with her left hand and starts writing.
“You're ambidextrous?” Lucy asks in fascination and Emma shakes her head, writing her answer after her question. Drawing an arrow to signal to Lucy to read her response first.
She holds up the pad with her left hand. Keeping her head rested in her right. Lucy blinks at the difference in handwriting. Still very neat but not as curvy.
‘I broke my right arm when I was a teen. This was before laptops became a regular thing, so I taught myself how to write left handed.’
“Make sense.” Lucy mutters before her eyes lift to Emma’s earlier question.
‘What would you do?’
“I can’t pretend to know what you are going through.” Lucy plays with her fingers. She had tried to imagine how she would feel if her sister Lois had attacked her and took something precious from her. However, it was impossible. “If it was me? I’d go for it.”
Emma clicks the pen a few times and twirls it between her fingers as she ponders Lucy’s words.
‘Everything has a risk.’ Emma thinks as she reflects her friend’s words back.
“What is your gut saying?” Lucy interrupts Emma’s thoughts.
The blonde bites her lip and she takes a deep breath. She clicks the pen and starts writing.
‘Mainly to go for it but part of me is hesitant. Like what if it doesn’t work? Would it damage everything further?’
“That’s something you would need to ask Doctor Sloan.” Lucy answers while she fiddles with a loose thread on the sofa cushion. “But whatever you decide I will be with you all the way.”
Emma lifts the corner of her mouth and reaches out to take Lucy’s hand.
Has that helped?”
It had a little bit but Emma knew it wasn’t the issue she was trying to deal with. But Emma nods anyway after realising how late it was getting and not wanting to take up anymore of Lucy’s time.
“Great! Shall I send Doctor Sloan an email and we can get the ball rolling?”
Emma swallows and feels her heart start to pound. Suddenly the room flickers and the blonde blinks to clear her vision.
“Em?” Lucy notices how anxious her friend has become again. The grip around her hand tightens and Lucy squeezes back before Emma lets go and rubs her eyes. “Tired?”
Emma nods before writing. ‘Yes to emailing Doctor Sloan. Can you give him my email?’
“Er… I may have to give you a new email to correspond with him. We got alerts that someone tried to hack into your accounts.”
Emma suddenly straightens up, her eyes flashing with anger. Immediately feeling violated at the attempt.
“Don’t worry, Brainy and Winn have placed the maximum security around them.” Lucy tries to reassure the blonde, who takes a deep intake of breath and lets it out slowly. “Is there anything else?” Lucy searches Emma’s eyes.
Emma shakes her head.
“Alright. I’ll leave you to rest.” Lucy opens her arms and Emma shuffles forward to hug her. Emma rests her head on her friend’s shoulder and imagines Alex or Kara hugging her. But it isn’t the same. They pull apart and Emma watches the brunette leave.
Slowly Emma stands and heads towards the window. The blonde crosses her arms and takes a few deep breaths. Trying to search for the answer of an unknown question. Her mind goes back to her sisters. Emma looks up at the barely there stars due to the light pollution. She focuses on the brightest and hopes more than anything that Alex and Kara are okay and prays she will get to see them soon.

lv au week, day 2: super heroes
Title: superbloom Fandom: Veronica Mars Rating: PG-13 for content, R for swears (Veronica writes in her feelings journal and really lets those swears go) Pairing: Logan Echolls/Veronica Mars Other Characters: Mentions of Mac and Meg Additional Tags: Secret identity (again?! what?), unnecessary epistolary literature (does a journal count as epistolary?), half-baked world building, a vague understanding of superhero lore Word Count: ~1,075 Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7
***
Again, written solely because @cubbiegirl and @marshmellowbobcat are earth angels. I even added a title this time so that MB doesn’t have to come up with one.
Why did I write this as Veronica’s journal? Mostly because it’s a style which seems to be a fanfic right of passage and I haven’t tried it so...here we are.
I probably owe a lot to other superhero universes and their world building (as in, referring to them as ‘supers’ ala The Incredibles). What are the full extent of Logan and Veronica’s powers? *shrug emoji*
***
Date: February 15 Tracked a low-level Kane agent to a tourist trap bistro in downtown San Diego. Place was packed. Is this the new thing? Shitty men forget to make Valentine’s Day reservations, so they make them for the day after?
Thought I had the guy but when I mistimed my pulse he metamorphosed into a cockroach and scurried away.
Best part of the night was the chocolate mousse I got to-go. Despite appearances within, the food wasn’t too bad.
Date: February 17 Caught up to Cockroach. Real name is Abel Koontz. Slimy guy tried to escape again, but Mac outfitted me with a souped up Morph Choke as backup — emphasis on the choke. Gonna need to recalibrate that a bit, Mackenzie.
Bonus! Forgot it was laundry day, so had to wear my backup uni. Next time I run into Meg out in the field I’ll have to ask her if she can see my underwear through it.
Date: February 18 Finally got around to watching season two of The Boys. Where do they get this shit?
If Piznarski brings up forming some sort of super team for the 7-millionth time at the summit this year, I’m siccing Clayton on him.
Date: February 21 Got into a fight with Mac. Technically my fault.
I faded while in public, and look, I get it.
Being detected while living as my alter would be bad. BUT!! Being forced to interact with my ex as he is on a date with a woman who legitimately looks like she could be my doppelganger is very bad.
Date: February 22 Clarified with Mac: me fading in public did not worry her. Me tripping Leo on purpose as I faded was apparently a problem.
Date: February 24 Cockroach stood me up.
Date: February 25 For all that is good and holy if another fucking cocky cowboy of a super moves to Neptune, I am going to lose my shit. This newest one? Got in my way as I attempted to track Kane, Jr into a warehouse. Fucking Smirky McCowboy stepped in my way and assured me I didn’t want to follow. Something about a dozen armed guards with guns aimed at the door. MAYBE THAT WAS MY PLAN!
(Because, of course the guy ripped a powers page right out of Superman’s book and has x-ray vision.)
(And, his uni? Not hard to tell when a super has money. They’re always the worst.)
Date: February 28 Ran into Smirky McCowboy again. This time outside of a poker game hosted by a real estate developer with connections to Kane. Smirky said it was a coincidence.
Still no sign of Cockroach.
Date: March 2 FUCKING HELL. He beat me to it. AGAIN! How is he doing this?
Date: March 4 Smirky’s name is apparently Logan. Which I learned because I was getting coffee at Willow Grove (just minding my business while covertly eavesdropping on previously mentioned real estate developer) when some guy sat at my table. Unprompted. Uninvited. UNWELCOME.
Mask or no mask, THAT SMIRK.
The more concerning thing is that his x-ray vision apparently sees through the skeletal enhancements Mac wired into my mask, meaning he ID’d me right away.
Date: March 5 Why do they keep coming here? Doesn’t New York have more crime? Go there!
Mac says it’s my fault for busting the Fitzpatricks, outing Kane as the sociopath he is, and helping all those kids find their lost dogs.
Okay, she only mentioned the first two, but I think the third has value.
The point is! these hangers-on need to find their own territory.
Date: March 6 Mac traced at least 70 arrests to Smirky in the Los Angeles area alone. I hate him.
Date: March 10 If he scoops another one of my cases…
Date: March 11 He calls me Supergirl.
He calls me Supergirl and I want to punch him.
Mac says Cockroach’s tracker is still active but the signal is being blocked.
Date: March 13 Saw Meg today. She took down her own parents. Fucking savage. God, I love her. She flew me up to American Plaza and we drank champagne to celebrate.
Oh! And good news! She says my backup uni isn’t see through.
Date: March 13 Woke up with this terrifying thought: can smirky see through my uni?
He wouldn’t...right? I mean...he’s an asshole but I don’t think he’s a creep.
Date: March 16 I punched him.
Not for the underwear thing! He swears he’s never looked and I weirdly believe him.
And I didn’t punch him as much as he walked into a pulse. Yes, fine.
I maybe purposefully put up the pulse to see if his x-ray vision could detect it. But I didn’t tell him to walk into it.
(He can’t detect it, btw. I did it a second time just to be sure.)
Date: March 18 Found Cockroach. Or, I guess I should say Koontz. He washed up on Dog Beach as his alter.
Mac said it could be a coincidence but we both know that’s not true.
Date: March 19 Did I do this? Did I get Cockroach killed?
Date: March 19 Logan has very good alcohol.
Date: March 20 Hangovers. Bad.
Date: March 20 Logan makes very good pancakes.
Date: March 21 Logan has seen me drunk, which means Logan must be destroyed.
Date: March 22 In a certain light, the smirk isn’t so bad.
Date: March 23 Oh god.
Date: March 24 Oh god.
Do I like him?
Date: March 25 I hate myself. I’m a giant cliché. I apologize to all women supers everywhere.
Logan swears he can’t see past the new enhancements Mac made to my uni.
He also asked me to dinner. Was tempted to 1) fade, and 2) run away, but I did neither.
Date: March 26 Adding insult to injury, Smirky McCowboy really knows how to kiss.
Date: March 27 Mac says I shouldn’t be so hard on myself.
Actually, what she said was that neither he nor I are all that pleasant to be around so we might be meant for each other.
Date: March 28 He really knows how to do some other things, too.
Date: March 29 Logan got me a present: surveillance footage of Kane’s mysterious second-in-command with Koontz the night before he was found.
He’s been upgraded to not the absolute worst.
Date: March 29 To be perfectly clear: we are not a super team.
Date: March 30 Logan and I are on surveillance detail tonight.
Maybe I can convince him to stop for some chocolate mousse.

"Hey sis!" Kara greeted Alex and went to stand next to her.
Alex glanced back at her briefly before looking back into the middle of the room where you and J'onn are sparring.
"Hey Kar."
Kara crossed her arms over her chest and nudged Alex with her shoulder. "I see you love to watch her. Might want to be less subtle or she might start to think you are a creep."
Alex rolled her eyes. "I am not a creep. Nothing wrong with watching people sparring."
"Mhm. Sure, okay."
"I bet J'onn will win." Alex said.
Kara amusedly smiled. "I bet (Y/N) will win."
Alex narrowed her eyes at Kara. "Mhm, if J'onn win you must stop the teasing and then you aren't allowed to eat potstickers for two months."
Kara gave her a offended look. "No fair! Okay if (Y/N) win I get to keep teasing you and you have to buy me potstickers for two months."
Alex thought it over for a moment. "Okay. Deal."
J'onn tried to swing a punch at your head but you blocked with your arms and he took advantage to knock you of your feet with one leg making you fall with a yelp as J'onn tried to hide a tiny smirk as he looked down at you.
"Don't get happy too fast J'onn." You taunted and used your psychokinesis to send him flying back against a wall next to Kara and Alex with a force that made a dent and crack in the wall while you did a quick flip and jump back to your boothed feet.
Alex sparred him a concerned look as he sat up in a daze.
"Oof. I forgot about that power of hers." J'onn shake his head slightly to shake off the daze.
"I'm just gonna stand over here so I don't get hit by flying aliens." Kara joked but went to help J'onn up.
You chuckled to yourself. "You might wanna remember that next time."
J'onn took his place in front of you again and smirked. "I'll be sure to do that."
This time you took the first move and went to use heat vision on him but he side jumped it and used his own heat vision on you that have you staggering back a few feet.
J'onn then used his invisibility to sneak up on you from behind but you easily elbowed him in the face when sensing him nearby, making him become visible again as he clutched at his nose.
"Ouch." J'onn whipped at the tinge of blood from his nose and half busted lip. "I did not expect that. Nice shot."
Alex looked shocked for a moment while Kara only smiled at her cheeckily.
"Rule number one. Don't sneak up on a wolf ever. They'll sense you before you can even do something. Learned that the hard way on Krypton and (Y/N) had to save me then."
"Well I can't wait to hear more stories of you and her on Krypton." Alex said.
"Hey guys! Not sorry to interrupt." A feminine voice halted all talk and movements.
"Lena Boo!" You exclaimed and run over to the female Luthor.
"(Y/N)!" Lena's green eyes lit up, a bright smile tugging at her red painted lips that is complimenting the black suit she is wearing with red heels to match.
You pulled her into a tight hug that she eagerly returns.
"What are you doing here?" You asked after pulling away from the hug.
"Came to check up on my bestie and J'onn called me over. He wants some information on CADMUS." Lena explained, staying close to you and nodding in greeting at Kara, Alex and J'onn.
"Oh okay. I'm glad you are here."
Lena smiled at that. "Glad to be here. And even more glad to see you making new friends." She said while keeping a hand on your exposed arm.
Alex glared at Lena's hand before looking at Kara that elbowed her.
"Jealous?" Kara teased.
"Shut up. I'm not jealous." Alex tried to hide the blush that is sneaking up to her cheecks.
"I don't believe you." Kara continued making Alex glare at her.
"Are you still coming over to my house for dinner and movies tonight?" Lena asked, not paying much attention to the others.
"Sure am. Can't miss out on good food and movies with my bestie."
"Just going over for dinner and movies my ass." Alex grumbels under her breath earning a soft laugh from Kara.
"You are so jealous."
Alex looked back at you and Lena before glaring at Kara once again.
"I said I'm not jealous. They can do whatever they want. And I have no reason to be jealous."
Kara cringe a little at the sharp edge in Alex's voice. "Oh sis. I was just teasing." She said softly.
Alex sighted but gave her sister a tiny smile afterwards. "Let's go show (Y/N) around. J'onn wants to talk with Lena anyways." Alex dragged Kara over to the wolf and Luthor.
"Hey." Alex greeted Lena as Kara waved at her akwardly, saying a soft "Hi."
"Agent Danvers, Supergirl, Hey." Lena greeted them back warmly.
"We'll catch up tonight at my place." Lena said to you after J'onn motioned Lena to follow him.
"Sure thing. See you then." You hugged her bye before turning back to Alex and Kara.
"Can I help you?" You questioned when seeying them just standing akwardly.
"No...actually yes." Kara began. "Do you want to come with me and Alex to Noonan's for lunch?"
You thought it over for a moment before nodding. "Okay, you did promise me some good food when you wanted my help in finding Alex.
"But you have eaten an hour ago Kar." Alex looked at the blonde Kryptonian.
Kara only shrugged. "So what. That was an hour ago. Kryptonian's are always hungry." She reasoned.
"Gotta agree with Kara." You cut in making Alex huff.
"Fine fine, let's go get some food for you hungry Kryptonian's." Alex began walking as you and Kara shot each other a goofy grin before following behind the agent.
When you got outside Alex walked over to her bike with you and Kara following.
"Catch you two at Noonan's." Alex said, getting on her bike.
Tumblr media
(😶Man this bike gif of her)
You make and whisteling sound at that. "Oh, I love the view Danvers. Let's try that climbing on-"
Alex sent a glare at you, a tinge of pink dusting her cheeks as she cut you off. "Shut it wolf before I put a muzzle on you."
"Getting kinky now are we Danvers?" You teased, wiggiling an eyebrow at her as Kara stood akwardly next to you, a smile on her face while Alex hid a tiny smirk by putting her helmet on.
"I'm shipping this so much but please don't do the dirty around me." Kara joked shyly.
"Aww, baby Danvers as shy and innocent as ever." You teased the blonde Kryptonian making her blush as she rubbed at her forehead shyly.
"She's not so innocent when under red kryptonite." Alex pipped in before driving off on her bike.
"Hey! I can't help that." Kara blushed a darker shade of red as she watched her sister droved away.
You laughed at Kara's perplexed look, patting her strong built shoulder. "I like that one. She's feisty. And can't wait to hear more stories of you and Alex."
"Let's get going." Kara manage to get out after containing her blush, taking you in a hold and starting to hover in the sky.
"I swear to Rao if you drop me I'll punch you into the sun." You threatened jokingly.
"I won't drop you. Trust me." Kara assured.
🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾🐺🐾
Kara landed with you both in an alley, letting go of you gently.
"That was fun." You said, fixing your wind swept hair as Kara rushed into her normal clothing and glasses.
"I just don't get how Lena can't see right through that descuise. It's so obvious. The glasses don't hide much." You commented as you and Kara walked out of the alley, making your way over to Noonan's, spotting Alex's bike parked near.
Kara slightly shook her head. "I don't know. Other people don't reconize me with it on."
"Maybe they do notice it's you but don't say anything." You countered, making Kara hum.
"Mhm. Guess you got a valid point there." Kara said as you cross the street and leading you into the comforting calm of Noonan's, scanning the place for Alex.
"There she is." You pointed out and walk over to the booth where the agent is sitting and slid into the booth with Kara following behind sortly after, sitting down next to you.
Alex greeted the two of you briefly before flipping through her menu.
You looked at the blonde kryptonian next to you. "Kara, that food ya promised me. What do you suggest?" You asked curiously.
Kara smiled warmly at you before Alex interrupt her.
"Let me guess, you are going to say potstickers?" Alex smiled briefly at her sister.
A light pink dusted Kara's cheeks. "Yep. They are just so good." Kara defend as you watch the two with a ghost of a smile.
"I still don't know why you like them so much."
You let out a chuckel at that. "Don't even try to change her fav food. She's still stuborn just like she was back on Krypton when we were little."
Alex gave a ghost of a smile."Trust me, I know how stuborn she can be."
Kara gasp in fake shock.
"I'm not stuborn!" Kara exclaimed and playfully swat at Alex who were smirking at her as you watched the two sisters, glad that Kara have Alex in her life.
Kara quickly placed the order for potstickers when the waiter came to the table you and the Danvers sibling are sitting at.
"Hey (Y/N), remember that time we almost got kidnapped by those blue aliens when we snucked into the meeting my mom and dad had with their leader?" You couldn't help but smile at that.
"I remember that all too well. Both of our parents were absolutely livid when they managed to save us on time. Geez that day I thought for sure your father would chuck us both into the sun by how angry he was." You and Kara began to laugh as Alex raised her eyebrow at the two of you.
"Well you make it sound like you both got and caused a lot of trouble together back on Krypton. Should I be worried for anymore trouble?" Alex said amusedly, taking a sip of her coffee that was ordered by her.
Kara pushed up her glasses and tried to hide a blush. "Naw believe me, that wasn't even a patch against all the other trouble we stirred." You nudged Kara and the blonde gave you a bright smile.
"And the amounts of times aunt Astra joined in on us pulling pranks on my mother and father and other visit aliens. Father wasn't too amused but was secretly glad that aunt Astra kept us safe...well safe most of the times back when she wasn't a complete nutcase." Kara added and you hummed in agreement.
"And remember that time I stole that huge red aliens thingys sword. He was ready to kill us both until your aunt showed up. His paled face was priceless when she threatened him and your father grounded us for weeks." You looked at Kara. "And I still have that sword in my apartment somewhere."
"What? No way?! You gotta show me then. That sword is epic." Kara exlaimed.
Alex raised another eyebrow, a smirk tugging at her lips as she swooped some potstickers once it was set on the table by the waiter, waiting until he left.l before saying.
"Oh now we have a sword stealing Kryptonian too? Now I wonder how your parents putted up with the two of you." Alex joked while Kara smiled again at her.
"Oh maybe I should talk about the punk pace you went through in highschool." Kara smirked before putting a potsticker in her mouth as Alex glared at her, a light pink dusting her cheeks.
"Cool, tell me Kar." You sneaked a glance at Alex, thinking that the tiny blush on her cheeks make her look adorable.
"No! Don't talk about that. That was years ago and embarrassing." Alex tried to stop her sister but alas Kara just went on and told the whole story as Alex tried to hide in embarrassment.

Grey's Anatomy season 17×06 Review
(How the f**k they just gonna leave me on read like this till March 4th)
The episode was a rollercoaster but something tells me the real ride is going to happen from the next episode.
___________________________________________
Maggie
I knew Winston was gonna show up in person at some point or the other. When he dropped the long distance wasn't working line and put the phone down in her ear so he could get some 'eggs' I knew he was in Seattle, good for her she's going to need him to lean on seeing that Mer freaking crashed again. At least she'll have somebody there for her because all her other support is personally attached to Meredith as well.
Besides Winston turning up, treating Tom and her being understandably giddy at Mer being awake there was also a scene where she educated Amelia on some things now I won't get into the details again but I'm just in love with the fact that Grey's isn't afraid to touch on controversial topics, they use their large platform to raise awareness and their speeches are always on point.
___________________________________________
Teddy/Owen
(She needed the time off more than Bailey did tbh)
My God was it satisfying when Richard literally just tore into her. She put herself in the situation and is now taking her anger out on others which is really in poor taste. Poor Helm, I hope she didn't take it personally. At this point it's her time to annoy me, I miss the season 6 Teddy, hopefully she redeems herself soon. After being torn apart by Webber's words she then proceeds to make things worst by revealing yet another big secret to Owen at work. (At least this time it was on purpose.) She just needs to take some time away and think on what she really wants and needs to reflect before spontaneously starting potentially life changing conversations. First it was telling Tom they had a chance then it was telling Owen that she still loves him and the kids while also revealing that she named their daughter after not only her best friend but also the woman that she was very much in love with. Pick a struggle Teddy at this point she's seeming confused more than anything else.
___________________________________________
Owen
For the past few seasons Owen was one of the characters getting on my nerves but lately he's been fine. He hasn't redeemed himself yet but his probation is going fine. Watching this show really shows how good of a person a doctor has to be in order to follow the ethical guidelines. If I had that scum bag for a patient I would have literally just pretended to fail at saving him and let the guy die, (guess that's why the Lord made me suck at Chemistry and Physics) his response to Bob about him being at the devils barbecue was badass, gave me serious season 5 Owen vibes or vibes like when he punched that guy out for disrupting the ER when he was chief, Major Hunt reporting for duty.
As for him and Teddy I can get why he was upset, her he was about to attempt to make amends at probably rekindling a friendship or maybe their relationship and she revels that your daughter is named after her lover, she could have atleast told him that when they were in the naming process, he deserved to know exactly who his child was being named after. I'm kinda a bitch but there was no way I'd feel comfortable having my child named after my partner's lover. On the other hand he should hear her out he has literally cheated twice and both times he sat and was able to share his side of the story and the woman he was with listened to his explanations. Teddy deserves as much, it might hurt but he did the same and Karma unfortunately is still a bitch.
___________________________________________
Bailey
(I just wanted to give her a hug the whole night.)
She has a really unhealthy habit of working through her grief, first her miscarriage and now through the death of her mom. I'm honestly sad that Ben had to be the one to comfort Tuck and tell him his grandmother had even died (she's always so busy, Ben is pratically the one raising him at this point.) And I'm also upset that I haven't gotten to see Ben being there for her either. I'm assuming it might be a protocol on the sets.
At least she took time off of the cases, I understand why she didn't want to go home as a doctor she has the highest risk of transporting the virus, but her mind understandably wasn't going to be in the doctoring game. I really thought they were gonna make her freeze up and accidentally kill a patient or something, but at least they didn't go down that line. And what even happened to her dad? did he take the Covid test? Wheres he staying now? Is he safe?
The conversations between her and Deluca were sweet, it's another unexpected friendship, before the only one she really disclosed any details of her life with was Richard but now they're opening her support group which is fine. I'm also glad that Deluca was able to look past the whole fiasco last season and hold no grudges. She has now fully redeemed herself completely, she's still my all time favorite character but from season 13 to probably mid season 16 she really had some storylines and scenes that irked me to watch and made me question some things, but now she's back on track at least to me.
Also I know that Richard is the chief of chiefs but how are they just gonna let him take back over the surgery unit like that again? I mean I did miss him as chief but now Bailey just basically seems like a regular old surgeon with a fancy office, idk it just seems kinda weird to me.
___________________________________________
Jackson
Not only carrying on the work and teachings of Mark Sloan but also using his boatload of cash to rescue a patient's mother from racist police who should have been the ones actually in prison. That was basically it for him though.
___________________________________________
Jo
Oml I honestly almost forgot she was even really in the episode. She had so little screen time. She's still in the middle of transitioning to OB. I have no issue with that because OB's still can do surgery, so we'll still get to see her and she'll be happy again plus it's about time that Grey's cashes in that Regulars card on Carina. We see her on Station 19 as an accessory I want to see the Jo and Carina tag team.
___________________________________________
Amelia
Not really much in this episode. No content with Link she just did surgery to save the scum with Owen. They may have made a mediocre couple but they work good as friends. Also I'm assuming she's off of maternity leave now? Did they mention that I'm not sure but she's back now.
___________________________________________
Richard
Not much of a storyline, he made the decision to put Meredith on the Vent and is busy running the hospital as the chief of the hospital again I guess. And also spitting the much needed facts that Teddy needed to hear.
___________________________________________
Tom
They're finally showing more of Tom's good side, I mean I always liked him and saw the potential in his character but they never really showed his soft side for a prolonged period like they did today. May I just say I enjoyed his and Meredith's friendly banter they have the same lowkey dark humor and at least it would have taken their minds off of being sick especially for him because he basically has no one else. Hearing him open up about his son and expressing how he'd do anything to hear him say dad again was sad I can only imagine his pain. Meredith was his reason for holding on especially after he had to witness his roommate die from Covid, the same thing he's suffering from right before his eyes and now Mer back unconscious this time with a tube down her throat I'm just really hoping that he keeps the faith, the last thing we need is a death right now.
___________________________________________
Meredith
(God damn it Mer all you had to do was stay awake.)
For a few brief moments all was right with the world Meredith was awake and everyone was happy and then she just had to go be Wonder Woman and over exert herself, but that's the thing they would have probably needed armed guards at the doors to keep her from putting someone else's life above her own, its one of her best qualities and at times one of her worst. I knew it was too good to be true when she was awake and laughing. It was giving me Mark Sloan final episode vibes. They better not kill her off that would be the worst ending for me, what about the kids? Step off the damn beach Mer you've gone through too much to let Covid take you out. On the other hand this gives us more beach scenes. It's more unlikely to have a live character return but there's still lots of dead ones to choose from, her mother is always a likely suspect, Denny loved being on the show and I think Breaking bad had its final season, Mark is a toss up based on how he cut ties with the show and Lexie is also a toss up because she is filming Supergirl in another country, however anything is possible with Grey's. I thought the beach scenes were over because she was waking up but look how wrong I was. All I hope is that they don't kill her off its unlikely because she's the main character but still its Grey's they like to go out with a bang.
___________________________________________
Deluca
I left him for last because to me he really did have the biggest storyline of the night.
Firstly I'm glad to see that at least part of the earliers season's Deluca has returned. I loved him as the passionate, badass and almost cocky guy as well but I always missed his more compassionate and softer side more. I'm glad to see it back and I'm also glad to see that he's taking his meds and resting, and I can confirm that having support is a needed factor in treating mental health. As strange as it was seeing the Bailey and Deluca chat it's good that they both have each other. They both suffer from mental illnesses and can relate to each other on a different level. They have me wondering now if they're going to use his mental health issues as a way to separate him and Mer, or use it as the reason why he pursued her, kinda like how they tried to blame Amelia's tumor for her bad decisions and then used it to break her and Owen up. I guess we'll just have to see where Merluca will go from here or if it will manifest Merhaynes instead.
Now onto the big stuff, the whole sex trafficking thing the whole episode I was literally yelling at the tv for either Deluca, Bailey or Carina to see that bitch, the moment it was connected that the kidnapper was involved in trafficking and she showed up I knew shit was about to go down. My heart was racing when I saw her with Schmitt. I really thought she was going to attack him with how sus she was being, luckily she had to go to avoid further suspicion. They need to put security on those girls' door. They've been through enough. If she goes to finish off Bob then no one cares but the girls don't deserve to go through anything else and Deluca after seeing her decided to go after him himself instead of calling the police, granted the police wasn't doing anything helpful but the last thing we need is for him to go after her himself like Superman and trying to save the day. At least Carina went with him so she can help talk him down if necessary but there's only so much she can do.

There are too many damn superheroes in that hospital.

My questions are:
• Will both Tom and Meredith make it out of the Covid sickness or will one or even both of them die?
• Will Teddy finally make her mind up so that the Teddy, Tom and Owen love triangle can finally have an ending?
• Who the hell is coming to the beach next? And can they tell Meredith to get her ass off of the beach and never return until she's like 80?
• Will Superman, I mean Deluca save the day without needing medical attention afterwards? Or worst yet needing a casket?
• Is Jo actually switching specialties?
• Are they going to go after the girls or kill Bob instead?
• How is it going to go with Maggie and Winston now that he has arrived in person?
• And lastly and most importantly what am I supposed to do with my Thursday nights until March 4th.

Note
The Supergirl Team calls you in despair. You’ve 2/3 episodes to save this season and leave a cliffhanger to the next season. You can do any ship, cut any actor, unlimited budget. What do you do?
My first call is to Brenda Strong, clearly. Lillian caustically provides Lena a reality check by not so subtly reminding her how Lex is an asshole and can't be trusted. She reveals she retained her pre-crisis memories, and remembers more than Lex deigned to tell her.
Lena is unimpressed, and dryly remarks, "And now you finally get to see everything Lex should have been. You must be thrilled."
"Yes, I do," Lillian affirms. "But a victory without sacrifice isn't victory. It's a handout."
Luthors don't accept handouts.
Lena stares at her mother, confused and wary. "What are you saying?"
"I'm saying Lex didn't earn it."
None of this was earned through toil. Lex chanced onto an opportunity and manipulated it to his utmost ability. Once upon a time, she might have been proud of his aptitude for machinations, Lillian admits, but she finds herself disillusioned with him.
"Not only does intended matricide sour the relationship somewhat," Lillian elaborates, "but more and more lately I've come to realize that while Lex indeed had incredible potential, I allowed that potential to blind me to yours."
Lex didn't earn his success, but Lena did. In just a few short years, Lena embodied the Luthor spirit unlike any Luthor had since the first generation-- since the generation that worked for their first million, their first merger, the first everything. She battled prejudice and attacks and failures, and though there may have been times she may have wavered, she always persisted.
"So why," her mother asks, "are you giving up now?"
Finally, Lena gives voice to her helplessness. How her friends have forsaken her and how in this world, she feels nineteen again, like she can do nothing without Lex.
"How can I," Lena asks, "when he crafted this very reality?"
"He has always crafted your reality, Lena. Your entire life has revolved around him, been shaped and warped by him. But what I've come to realize is that this world isn't his. It never was. All along, it was yours."
And so begins the tentative yet deepening relationship between Lena and her mother, as they conspire against Lex. They know he's up to something, but don't know what. In the end, they decide it doesn't matter what it was-- they would simply need to neutralize him.
Permanently.
----
On the other side of things, the superfriends start to realize that their goal of taking down Lex from the outside isn't working. They learn Brainy is compromised, and find themselves without a significant resource they had counted on. So they focus on mitigating the fallout of his use of the DEO.
Alex and Jonn find their way to helping aliens recover after DEO raids. Sometimes its just property damage, sometimes its arrests. They commiserate with the victims, promising that Lex won't be in power for much longer.
"It doesn't matter who is in power," the victims reply. It will only be someone just as cruel, or even indifferent. The DEO has always been this way, and it will always be this way.
When one alien mentions a specific raid, Alex realizes it was one that occurred under her tenure as Director. That as an agent and director she contributed to the abuse of aliens rights, liberties, and persons.
Later, she confesses to Kara that she always thought she was doing good at the DEO. But all along she'd really only been doing good for Kara.
"I will always be there for you, you know that right?" she asks, and Kara nods. "But I think, for the next little while, I need to focus on doing good for everyone else."
----
Meanwhile, at CatCo, Nia finds herself in a quandary. One day, Will asks her to grab him a coffee. Taken aback, Nia doesnt have time to respond before Will is off on his way. Unsure of what else to do, she uncomfortably obliges, choosing to believe it was a one off.
It isn't.
Again and again with increasing frequency, Will asks her to do things like grab coffee, make copies, etc. Soon she finds herself stuck in a cycle of doing what she's told and is too nervous to call him out after so long.
It takes Kara noticing and offering to speak to William about it before Nia bucks up the courage to do it herself.
"No," she says, the next time Will opens his mouth in her direction. "I will not get your coffee, or make your copies, or pull your copy edits. I am a reporter, just like you. Maybe a little less experienced, sure, but the only way I'm going to get experienced is by doing my own work and not the work of your assistant."
Will stares at her, and then flushes. "Nia, I am so sorry, I thought you were the office assistant. I had no idea."
This time it's Nia's turn to stare. "What? But-- I have over a dozen by-lines."
"Really?"
"I've been at every pitch meeting!"
Grimacing, Will meets her gaze. "I thought you were there to take notes. Honestly, I thought you and Kara were tight because she came from the assistant pool."
Nia scowls. "You also could have just asked me."
"And I should have. I truly am sorry, I've just been so wrapped up in--" He catches himself abruptly, then swiftly changes the subject. "Let me make it up to you. I have an interview with Lenny Maddow in twenty minutes. Would you like to sit in?"
Sit in with a Nobel-winner who isn't Lex Luthor?
"Uh, YEAH."
Nia recoups more of her pride when she asks some insightful questions that gets their guest to open up to an insane degree, and Will recognizes her talent as a reporter. He even tells her as much.
"I don't know how I ever mistook you for anything else."
He starts lending her more advice and opportunity-- before long he's the kind of mentor Kara used to be, but lost the time for. And after Will decides he can trust her he brings her in on his secret project investigating the Luthors.
Namely, Lena.
"She's the weak link. If she goes down, the rest will follow like dominos."
---
"I know we're kind of not on Team Lena right now," Nia remarks to the others at the tower later, "but the kind of things he thinks she's responsible for doesn't sound like Lena. In any reality."
J'onn and Alex both look at Kara. "It might be time to set aside our wounds for a moment," J'onn observes. "I don't need to be a fifth dimensional imp to deduce that a downfall for Lena would not be a good thing."
"Lex would be left unchecked," Alex chimes in.
Kara doesn't need convincing. She goes to Lena immediately, and squares off against Lena's chill reception with concern.
"I came to warn you."
"Let me guess... Lex can't be trusted."
With a grimace, Kara equivocates. "Yes, but I'm not the only one who thinks so. William Dey is digging into the Luthors, and for whatever reason, he's decided your the fulcrum to the entire operation."
"The reporter, William Dey?"
Kara shares what she knows of William's vendetta-- the best friend who died, the suspicions that Lex was involved. To her surprise, Lena huffs a mirthless laugh.
"He said he was going to be better."
"You... say that like you don't believe him."
"Of course I don't believe him. But I wanted to."
Lena knows better than to leave LuthorCorp. But she does pledge her help.
"This doesn't make us friends," Lena clarifies. "But whatever Lex is planning, he'll burn the world to the ground to get it."
Kara nods solemnly. "I understand."
---
The Superfriends now have their in. It's Lena who finally pieces together that Lex is after Leviathan. It's Lillian who pales at the mention, and after much toothpulling reveals that what no one ever told Lena is that her mother didn't just die-- she was murdered.
"Your home was broken into shortly after you were removed. The investigators only found one item of interest, hidden behind a piece of loosened baseboard. A cipher, on a folded piece of paper. Even Lionel only managed to translate two words. One was Leviathan."
The other, Lena soon discovers, was Acrata.
---
Altogether, the superfriends and Will and Lena all manage to erode Lex's stranglehold on the new reality. Lex doesn't make it easy, but a combination of J'onn and Alex earning more of the public trust, Supergirl resisting Lex at every turn, Will and Nia tag-teaming Andrea's connection to Leviathan, Lena beats Lex to the Leviathan sanctum.
By a matter of minutes, sure, but the fact she finds her way there on her own when Lex has to be led by Gamemnae is a true victory, and a practical embodiment of Lillian's earlier words.
Lena's victory is compounded when Lex's eyes flash with irritation: he doesn't expect to see her there.
"Heya, sis. I didn't realize we had a meeting."
"We don't," Lena tells her brother, even her eyes lock on the woman beside him.
The woman steps towards Lena, her lips curling into a pleased smile.
"We do," the woman confirms. It's clear she doesn't include Lex.
Before he can do more than sputter, she continues. "I was wondering how long it would take you to find us."
Lena holds her gaze. "The medallion."
Gamemnae nods. "Ever since it was found, we knew it would only be a matter of time."
There's only one question Lena intends to ask.
"Who was my mother?"
And so she learns that her mother was part of Leviathan-- that she had grown lonely, and sought comfort in the arms of mortals. It had only meant to be temporary, but when the unthinkable happened, and she found herself pregnant, she chose to remain in the mortal world with her daughter.
What Gamemnae doesn't explain, but Lena senses instinctively, is that her mother had sought to protect Lena from Leviathan. To keep her human, keep her alive. That somehow, despite being an agent of destruction, Lena's birth had prompted her mother to leave Leviathan behind, and to be better than she was.
Gamemnae's pitch is enticing-- the ability to bring humanity together through disaster, to call upon their communal instincts by reducing their numbers, reset the world so that the planet and its population have a chance to survive for eons to come.
She offers power and influence, and a long life-- millenia to engage with and observe the discoveries still far in the future.
It's almost enough for Lena to say yes.
Almost.
It is enough for Lena to accept the medallion, the only true memory Lena has of her mother. Gamemnae summons it from the ether, and Lena takes it in her fingers, cradling it like the precious artifact it is.
When she closes her hand around it, Lena blinks and finds herself in a place of utter darkness. But despite the emptiness, she isn't afraid.
"Lena."
"Mom."
The woman who appears before her is familiar in a way that touches deep in Lena's soul. Tears fill Lena's eyes as she drinks in the sight of her mother, committing her to memory.
"I forgot what you looked like," Lena confesses with a breathless laugh. "When I generated an avatar of you, I had to base it on my own image."
The embrace her mother wraps her in is unbidden and unexpected. It steals Lena's breath and floods her with warm. Her tears spill over as she clutches her mother tight.
"I've missed you."
"And I you, my darling," her mother murmurs. "You have grown to be everything I ever wanted for you."
A bolt of shame travels down Lena's spine, and she pulls away.
"You mean embroiled in the most hated family in history?"
"I mean that you are strong, and powerful, and brilliant. Your compassion and empathy are a force powerful than you know."
Lena looks away. How can she explain how close she had come to lose the soul her mother had loved so dearly. Non Nocere burns like a hot poker of shame, digging deep in her belly and twisting sharply.
But her mother cups her cheeks, tilting her gaze up to meet hers once more.
"We all make mistakes, my love. What matters most is what you do to correct them."
Before Lena can say anything more, her mother kisses her on the head, and offers a smile as warm as the sun.
"Everyone you have ever loved is carried inside you. They speak to you every day. When times are uncertain, listen to your heart. They will never lead you astray."
Lena blinks back to the Leviathan sanctum to find Lex pelting Gamemnae with outrage and accusations.
"We had an agreement! You and I had a partnership!"
"And now that it has brought me your sister, I am no longer in need of it."
"You forget that I watched Rama Khan in our previous reality-- I know Leviathan's style. My baby sister isn't the type you would want to recruit."
"You don't comprehend what Leviathan is," Gamemnae only smiles sweetly, unfazed by Lex's posturing. "We are born and chosen both. That is what Lena is. And you, Alexander Luthor, are neither."
"Buh--"
With a wave of Gamemnae's hand, Lex disappears, transported.... somewhere. Lena can barely think to consider his welfare before Gamemnae turns her powerful gaze towards her once more.
"Welcome home, Lena."
---
In the end, Lena doesn't accept. The power offered her is tempting, but she's wise enough to know that a deal so sweet could never come without strings. Whether it be her humanity, her soul, or something else entirely, she would lose something dear. Something precious.
"Come now, Lena," Gamemnae cautions. "I know how ingelligent you are. You know that you won't be allowed to leave alive should you decline."
Her mother's voice echoes in Lena's ears: listen to your heart. She does, and she hears them all-- her people. Her loved. Her lost.
Her mother.
Jack.
Even Kara.
It's Kara that makes her pause, nearly has her agreeing. She knows the prospect of Kara's future, a life of longevity that would see her watching all her family die, for generations to come. If Lena could share those centuries with her, surely they could eventually find forgiveness and trust once more.
But Kara wouldn't want her to. Not like this.
So instead of taking Gamemnae's hand, Lena snatches her by the wrist and closes her hand around the medallion. This time Gamemnae appears in the void with her, where Lena's mother waits again.
"I need your help," Lena says. "All of you."
One by one, they materialize. All of the voices who have guided her appear from the shadows, their features kind and ready. Lena pushes Gamemnae towards them.
"Make our guest comfortable. She'll be staying with you for the foreseeable future."
Jack is the one who steadies Gamemnae. When he blinks, his eyes open to pitch darkness. So do the eyes of those around him, wraiths all. Even Lena's mother.
Lena hesitates only long enough to give her mother one last look.
"I love you."
Her mother nods. "I never doubted for a second. Go," she urges, "and live."
Lena returns to the Leviathan sanctum alone. She shatters the medallion to ensure no one else would use it, and sweeps the pieces up to liquidate against any attempts to reconstruct it.
Leviathan is done, without a single drop of blood shed.
Back at LuthorCorp, Lex is nowhere to be found. After a perfunctory search, control falls to Lena. Though she'll have to wait a mandated period of time before she can rebrand back to L-Corp, things are already feeling normal.
At least, right up until the moment Lena finally visits the Tower for the first time.
"Lena!" Kara calls in delight. During their time working together, things between them have repaired enough for her to wrap Lena in a brief hug and usher her further into the space.
"Come to beg us to back to the DEO?" Alex taunts. "I gotta warn you, I've gotten used to being my own boss."
"Actually," Lena says, "I'm disbanding the DEO."
There's a beat of silence, and then the entire room erupts into chaos. Questions fly at her from every direction, and she endures them quietly until she finally lifts a hand for quiet.
"It's time. The DEO has never been entirely above board, and if we're going to make strides in accepting aliens into Earth society, we have to start with nixing the extrajudicial arrests and imprisonment."
Lena looks at Kara, who has been suspiciously silent. Kara meets her gaze in apprehension.
"What does that mean for Supergirl?'
Lena offers her a smile that refreshes her soul.
"Well, it would be foolish to claim she isn't still needed, and that heroes don't do a lot of good. So I've already talked with the mayor about implementing a municipal licensing program for vigilante heroes. If successful, you'd basically be doing the exact same thing, with just a little more oversight, and a little less smash and grab."
Nia beams. "That sounds so cool!"
"And," Lena adds, sliding her gaze towards Alex and J'onn, "the program is going to need leadership that's familiar with both heroes and bureaucracy."
J'onn nods his readiness and agreement, but to everyone's surprise, Alex hesitates.
"It sounds like a great idea, Lena, really," Alex obfuscates, "but I think I still have more work to do on this side of things. As you say, the DEO has a lot to make up for."
Kara hugs her sister tight. "I'm so proud of you," she whispers.
"Wait, wait, wait..." Nia says, pumping the brakes ever so slightly. "Does this mean we don't get to be the Superfriends anymore?"
But Lena has an answer for that too.
"As the pilot heroes of this new program, I'm sure all of you will continue to work closely together, and I'm sure the legislation will include provisions for teams as well as individual. Which means that as National City's first and premier superhero league, the only thing you're missing is a sponsor." Which is to say, Lena intends to sponsor them.
"From my personal accounts," Lena is sure to specify, "and with tech either commercially available or engineered in my personal lab. LuthorCorp will won't be anywhere near it, and I will be operating as anonymously as possible... though given our history, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard a guess for people to figure out."
When the team leaves for celebratory drinks, Kara and Lena linger. The air hangs thick and heavy between them, until Lena finally speaks.
"You once asked for bygones--"
"I did," Kara confirms. "And as much as I would love to return the favor--"
"We have a lot to talk about."
Kara nods, and Lena takes a deep breath. "All I ask," she continues, "is that you accept the good with the flaws. And that I only ever wanted to do good."
That much, Kara agrees without hesitation.
"I never thought anything else."
She loops her arm through Lena's, and together they walk towards the lift. As it rises to collect them, Kara rocks back on her heels.
"A lot of changes are coming our way," she remarks.
Lena hums an agreement, but misses the glance Kara gives her as they step into the lift before issuing one last pardon.
"There's no one else I'd rather face them with."
The elevator gate closes on the image of them gazing at each other, eyes locked and smiles brimming with the possibility of something new.

[ Posted on Ao3 ] [ Chapter 1 ] [ Chapter 3 ] [ Chapter 5 ]
[ A/N: Alright! The Metropolis ‘Intro Arc’ comes to a close, and leads right into a bit of time-skipping! Chapter 5 begins Marinette’s journey into gaining superpowers in strange ways. ]
[ Summary: Answers are given and some backstory is filled in, but blanks still remain. It’s time for new friends to part ways. ]
“Meteor shower?”
Marinette looked quizzically towards her parents, knowing nothing of such an event ever happening. But she also knew there was a chance it had happened before they had ever met her.
Sabine stepped up, a more passive, if not helpless, look of cluelessness on her features. “No, as far as Tom and I are aware, she wasn’t. But, perhaps, she may have been. You see,” she began to elaborate, wrapping a reassuring arm around her daughter alongside her husband, “Marinette is adopted.”
Supergirl blinked at that, and Tom continued where Sabine left off before the superhero could ask any premature questions.
“There was some kind of accident that happened with her original parents. Not her birth ones as far as the adoption agency knew. They claimed the DNA didn’t match any of the residents where she was found, and there was no birth certificate.”
Tom patted his daughter’s head and she smiled reassuringly. She knew the story, and came to terms with it long ago. It had never really been a crisis for her, it was simply a fact of her life.
Marinette decided to pick up the tale herself and explain the rest.
“They don't know what exactly caused it, but the whole building had collapsed, and I was the only survivor. They suspected some kind of explosion from the debris.
“The people who rescued me from the aftermath knew my name was Marinette because of a note that I had been swaddled with, but that was it. The note was too damaged to read anything else, but they suspect it may have been a simple baby-care to-do list for new parents.
“So, I guess to answer your question… We have no clue. Why? You said you saw something, an old injury, could it have been debris from the accident?”
Tom pipes up once more to fill in more blanks and open more questions. “There was no report of injuries from that, just your pre-existing scars.”
“And I don’t think they ever checked those,” Sabine adds, “likely assuming they were taken care of before the accident.”
“Scars…” Supergirl mused, looking Marinette over once more. “Marigold, they wouldn't happen to be over your right shoulder, back, and leg, would they?”
The Dupain-Chengs’ eyes were wide as they looked at each other before Marinette stepped closer, pushing down the right shoulder of her re-dawned over-shirt and the shirt underneath, twisting around to be able to show the faint scarring there in strange jagged, spotty patterns. It definitely looked like it had been something done by multiple culprits such as a dense scattering of tiny meteors. Or shrapnel from something much closer.
Supergirl’s resolve seemed to solidify at the sight and nodded, stepping up closer and pointing to one of the largest of the scars between her shoulder and collarbone, then another at her shoulder blade. “Your back and leg have big ones like these too, right?” A nod in response, and she continues.
“All of those spots have large chunks of crystals that I suspect might be from… a place I call home. I felt them when I helped you out back there.” Marinette furrowed her brow, wondering if that seeming uncharacteristic weakness and tiredness of the two superheroes had been because of these hidden crystals. Did she somehow really have a weakness to the indestructible heroes just sitting around inside her?
“Oh, sorry for being snippy back there by the way, I thought the crystals had been put in you on purpose, it didn't help that I recognized that other guy, too, I hope you can forgive me, Starshine.” Marinette flushed at the attention, not expecting the apology and another nickname, but she nodded in affirmation to the apology. Supergirl then stepped back as she continued on with a returned nod, and Marinette took it to put her sleeves back in place.
“Anyways, I’ll bet my hat, metaphorically of course, that all the smaller pieces were removed by your body naturally as you grew, but the bigger ones stuck around. Get those checked out, long term exposure of my homeworld’s rocks can have bad effects on humans. To have none so far, you're lucky. Well, as lucky as you can get with already having, ya’know… Yeah…” The hero looked sheepish now, and Marinette just laughed softly, Tom and Sabine chuckling behind her.
“We’ll be sure to get it taken care of,” Marinette nods glad to have gotten help for something she hadn't even known was wrong. “Thank you, Supergirl. For everything.”
“Hah, it was nothin’,” the hero grins, reaching up to touch her hair, and instead clocked herself in the temple with Marinette’s sketchbook that she still held. “Owch! Oh! Ha-hah, that- that's definitely not mine, here- Actually…” Before she hands it back, she pulls one of the pencils out from between the bindings and scribbles down into the blank spaces between the Superman sketches.
When Marinette finally takes the sketchbook back, there's two names and two numbers. The first, situated below the most detailed of the Superman designs, is the name Clark Kent, and a number labeled personal cell. The second number is vertically written between the Supergirl skirt and the sash design Supergirl had been admiring, and the name was Supergirl, also labeled with personal cell.
Marinette’s eyes go wide at both, and she slams the sketchbook closed to hide them from prying eyes. “But these are-! You-! I can’t-!”
She’s cut off by a full and gleeful laugh from the superhero. “Geode, It’s fine, don't worry ‘bout it! Really! Superman already told me to give you Kent’s for your reporter friend, the other one you can just consider an emergency contact for anything about those crystals you’ve got. That's acceptable, right? Good!” she beams when Marinette gives a speechless nod, and the designer could swear that Supergirl was actually doing something to make herself glow with the sun framing her from above her head.
“I should be heading off then,” the superhero continued, and her glow dimmed with it, but she stayed grinning and proud, more content in the moment. “Think you need anything else or we good?”
Having a quick thought, Marinette reached into her back and slipped out one of her home-made business cards. She never actually used them, she wasn't ready to start her own business just yet, but they were convenient if she ever needed to give her contact info to anyone. This was as good a time as any to put them to use.
She stepped up quickly and grabbed Supergirl’s hand in her own, slipping the paper into the other teen’s fingers.
“Thank you again, Supergirl, I mean it. Thank you.”
The hero softens just a bit as she looks back at the bright, dirt covered girl she rescued from the Daily Planet’s main symbol. Her grin returns full force and she winks. “Any time, cutie, it’s what I do.”
Marinette let's go with a laugh at the superhero’s antics, and finally releases her hand.
With a wave from both Supergirl and the Dupain-Chengs, they part ways.
A few things happen for Marinette after that day in Metropolis.
First, after Marinette got back to the hotel her family was staying in, she made a call to Alya back in Paris. She told her about the villain attack, the destruction, and the heroes rescuing her. She made sure to spare any and every personal detail, both of her own and of the heroes’. Marinette didn't want to be teased or prodded about it, and she strongly guessed the heroes didn't want the wrong things getting out. Alya had dropped her phone upon hearing about her getting not just the contact for a well known reporter, but also securing a promise for an interview in her name. Alya at least gracefully respected that Marinette refused to give up the number, and planned to set the interview up herself to make sure she didn't break their trust in her.
After that, Marinette and her parents discussed the whole alien crystals in her body thing, and decided they should get them removed as soon as they returned home, not wanting their daughter recovering from surgeries like that while travelling. Figuring Supergirl would be too busy to answer a call, she sent a text instead about the decision. A fitting string of emojis followed by a ‘sweet! update me soon, ttyl’ was the reply.
Marinette didn't encounter either of the Super-Duo for the rest of her trip, but she texted the teen again a few days before they were set to leave. She asked about music recommendations, stating a desire to get a gift of CDs or records for one of her long-time best friends back home. Not only did she get a good long list of album recommendations, but also a short list of the best music stores in the city, in order of ‘best to still-best-but-slightly-less-awesome’, as Supergirl put it.
After the Dupain-Chengs returned to Paris, the renovations of the bakery almost complete, they set up everything they needed for the removal of the foreign crystals. Once more, Marinette made sure to text Supergirl. And this time, they did see each other again. The American hero flew all the way to France to bring Marinette something, a Non-Disclosure Agreement for the doctors handling Marinette and the crystals. Apparently, her and her cousin used them in emergencies to keep their identities safe, and their weaknesses out of the wrong hands, as best they could. It only confirmed for Marinette that the crystals were indeed weaknesses to them, and she vowed to keep them secret.
Supergirl stayed in Paris to oversee the surgeries, despite how much it embarrassed Marinatte to have a superhero acting like a bodyguard at the hospital, let alone how much the girl told the hero it was alright to leave her on her own. Yet again, Marinette vowed to never tell Alya. She made the hero swear to it, too, though she was sure that promise wouldn't hold if Alya ever got an interview. Truthfully, she wouldn't really hold the other teen to it anyways, but it was nice to know Supergirl would still make the effort to keep it the promise.
After the crystals were removed and Marinette was home free, Supergirl handed her a leather-bound wooden box, decorated in brass bands and studs, and lined on the inside with lead and velvet. Inside sat several chunks of glowing, ethereal crystals. Most of them were shades of green, but one sat in the center and radiated a brilliant gold. Each had been carefully coated in something clear, meant to prevent skin-to-skin contact when handling, without diminishing the beauty.
“Kryptonite,” Supergirl confessed with a sheepish grin. “Pieces of Krypton, the home planet Kryptonians like Kal-El and I are from. You kept them safe without even knowing it, I can’t imagine how safe they'll be now that you know they're here. Better than being anywhere near us or our enemies, am I right?”
Marinette had laughed, exasperated at Supergirl’s antics, but decided, for once, not to refuse the gift, and accept the new responsibility that came with them. It was the least she could do for a friend from an ocean and a few galaxies away.
After a few weeks in Paris, Supergirl had to go back to Metropolis a week before Marinette’s last year of collège started, admitting to needing to return to start her first year of high school.
Her final statement to Marinette had been to make a bet.
Marinette had laughed and fallen down giggling when she first expressed her want to make it. She was so used to Kim and Alix doing the same thing, realizing that they would get along well with Supergirl if they ever met.
“Geode!” She had called out and declared with the largest air of confidence she could muster, “Geode, Blue Starshine, Princess, Macaroon, Cookie Dough, Buttercup, Blossom, Lil’ Butterfly, Darlin’, Cutie. Marinette! I mean it, and this is my bet! I am going to learn French! It’s going to suck, and I’m going to hate it, but you learned English, so I’ll try to learn something else, too, and maybe I’ll do it in time to surprise you with how awesome I am at it next year.”
“And if you can’t do it?” Marinette had giggled, the last of her laughter simmering down after the bold declaration.
“I won’t,” was the answer. Yet she still added, “But if I do fail, I’ll take you to the one place only Kal and I can go, a little piece of Home on Earth. Deal?”
Marinette softened at the whole thing, and nodded with a soft smile.
“Deal.”

Well I am bored and can’t get back to sleep. So it’s time for a supergirl s5 rant no one asked for.
Now every season has its issues and there were some outside “issues” this season (COVID-19 and Melissa being pregnant) so I will keep that in mind.
That being said.
This season had problems from the word jump. This was for a few reasons.
1- The plot was all over the place
And I don’t mean, ‘oh there was not enough of [blank character] so it was bad.’ No, I mean it was literally jumping between to many elements. Like what was this season about really?
Was it about a new tech environment taking over people’s lives? Was it about an ancient occult power coming out of the shadows to “take” the earth? Was it about adjusting to a post crisis world? Was it about the Luther siblings joining forces to achieve common goal and brainy is a secret inside man?
Now I understand that most tv shows have multiple plot points to follow that’s normal and expected. However, you need to have them meet up in away that is rewarding to the viewer and makes sense for the story that you are trying to tell. And there is an old writing trick called “one step at a time” Basically it boils down to, The audience will only believe one thing at a time.
Eg. You tell the audience this character can only do something in a certain way, (like the sups and the yellow sun,) but then you say that actually never mind this is another way to do it,(like Kara can keep her speed and only her speed under a red sun). This is bad writing as there is no set up or pay off and you cheated your audience by just changing the rules you made for no reason. (Think that kid on the playground that does that “unbeatable force field” thing in a game of tag.)
This can also apply to story concepts this is called a “conflicting narrative” in season 5 this apples to leviathan.
At the start of the season (ep 1 -8) we are told that they are ancient and magical based villains, all good.
and their big plan is to therefor, of course  *checks notes* to use advice sci fi tech to achieve their goals and do something? with the people inside, yeah that makes sense what else would they use? Magic? that thing the super family is vulnerable to? Nah.....sarcastic’s aside, if you establish one thing you can’t turn in round with no explanation.
They actually have a good example of this concept working in this season, in ep 10 with Brainy and his changing physical appearance.
It was set up in the ep early on that our brainy was ‘off’ compared to the other Brainy’s, we get an explanation in the bar scene with the Rath siblings and then it is built upon with a Kara and Brainy scene, then after a build up and a reason (a character based one I might add) it is then and only then that it gets revealed and guess what.... that is hands down the best ep of the season.
I literally have re-watched that ep so many times cause it’s that good. It is great self contained episodes and builds on per established character moments and plot points (brainy’s character inconsistency and the crisis plot aftermath) it’s the gold standard of what I’m talking about.
it sets up and pays off what it is trying to do and give character base reason for the story.
But the season as a whole don’t do this effectively because
2- They focus on making the plot the compliment characters, and not the characters complimenting the plot.
the blanket term for this is, this is called “build up and release” this is used to drag out tension effectively. there are 2 ways to do this but basically
1- answer one thing, then that answer leads to another question
2- give partial answers through out a space of time, to keep attention but not make it the only focus of any given moment.
but anyway,
season 5 has this issue where they bring up a point then either don’t carry it through or don’t ‘step it out’ in a way that leads well to the story.
remember what i said about accepting one thing at a time? now let me ask.
If Leviathan is secret why did they reveal themselves now?
I don’t know and guess what, I don’t care, because the show didn’t care either. they never set up why they came out of the shadows or why that even mattered? so why would anyone care outside of “season’s bad guys”.
you know what this season did care about the Luther siblings. there is nothing wrong with that per say, I just don’t see why they needed Leviathan if they didn’t actually want to develop them in anyway. If the post crisis season was just about taking down the Luther’s then fine nothing wrong with that.
but here is why they NEEDED the Leviathan ‘plot’ (and i use that loosely) is that they needed it to justify Lena working with Lex and not have her come off as “too evil” that way she can say
“i’m only working with you because I want to get rid of Leviathan”
instead of
“i’m working with you because i have the same motives as you”
which would not play well in her “redemption” (and i use that term even looser) they kept an aspect to the story purely to complaint a character they wanted a particular outcome, so they kept a plot element around regardless of how well it actually worked with the story.
and then there’s the bitch himself LEX (John did a great job tho tbh)
he is the biggest example of ‘plot fitting character’, Lex didn’t fail ONCE the whole season, no problems or surprises and it was “oh so easy for him” like that is just frustrating for everyone, i’m not saying “the hero’s should win all the time” No, but the villains need to earn their wins to. here is why that is an issue if you make it to easy.
1- the audience wants to see every character have their problems with achieving their goals and how they go about solving the problems as it is and hear me out...entertaining
2-  when a character always has things “go to plan” it feels super forced, the Human error, is built into us (the audience) as people, so to see it not come into play at all, at any point, feels fake as we all know life don’t work that way for anyone. especially if there are people actively trying to stop you.
overall you shouldn’t force a plot to fit a character, you should write a character to fit the plot their in (or in other words have them adapted to new situations they don’t even have to do it well)
Ironically a good example of this in s5 was William
they built up that he was a journalist and that he was hiding something, fast froward and it turned out that he was trying to uncover Leviathan (unknowingly to him) and not apart of them.
this is a good way for a character to compliment the plot.
they said here is a new journalist and he doesn’t even know the depths of what he is looking into and that’s a smart move.
i’m just going to leave this clip here...
youtube
this tied in character and plot really well it exampled character and now after this scene they can shift his behaviour and have a reason for it. not just ‘oh actually he was never a jerk and he is nice now’. no it was “he is trying to achieve a goal using this method and now he has been exposed”. This gives a plot based obstacle and character reaction (that failed to work) and it works actually quiet well for a network conspiracy plot.
character completing plot.
and finally
3- Rushed endings
now this one is actually treaty to talk about, cause of well the COVID- 19 problems so i can’t be to judgemental about it cause that is a dick move. And on top of that the lead actress (of an action show) was pageant so they had to use he a little less (in fight scenes anyway) so again I’m not going to be a dick about it, and you know i don’t want anyone being forced to work during a pandemic if its not at all necessary. So, i will keep this brief.
There are still things that fell flat due to being to rushed.
1- the tech/ VR take down.
It was built up for at least 10 eps and they took it down in 5 mins with a pep talk from Kara, like um ok that was easy i guess, don’t know why y’all were worried if you could fix it in an afternoon. this is not a bad plot line in theory, but it was given to much attention for the solution it was given.
2- Leviathan lady (don’t know and don’t care what her name is) being a robot alien thing.
this one is not too bad? but it was shown way to late in the game and again they didn’t focus enough on Leviathan for this to be of any real audience value outside of a surprise/ shock value. So why should i care now? they barely did anything interesting this season but then you give me something cool 2 mins after it doesn’t matter anymore (with the others bottled). why was this not done earlier in the season? but anyway.
3- Lena’s “redemption”
I could write a whole separate rant about this, but for time and my sanity i won’t. but basically, my main issue is that the whole season Lena was spiralling downward and doing worse and worse things to people, and that’s fine from a story pov, but after at least 15 to 17 eps of this and countless bad decisions and judgements she dose ONE good thing and, well that’s all your needed to do, all is forgiven.
now i am all for redemption arcs but one of the main words there is ARC!!!
there needs to be a reflection, apologies, rejections and making mistakes and then truly changing for the better, and still making mistakes!!
it was disgustingly quick and it honestly made me a little uncomfortable. I want to see people grow and learn but people have to earn their own way there. and another thing redemption is not something another person should be reasonable for giving you. (*cough* Kara *cough*)  redemption is something you give yourself through hard choices, personal loses and hard work. and guess what you can do all that and still NEVER get back what you messed up, that was real change and growth is as,
redemption, real redemption
comes in the moments when you don’t benefit from it, Lena loses nothing in helping Kara in the end and gains everything she throw away in a minute flat. So, yeah i think it was rushed in a way that made my jaw drop in disbelief because of how badly rushed it was.
But getting out of that head space.
I like trying to end on a positive note the only part of the ending that was not rushed was Brainy’s bottling of Leviathan,
it was set up as a thing that be could do (ep 10),it was a hard choice to make (as it was going to kill him) and was given time to feel the full weight of the choice, the Rath sibling hand hold, then Lex taunting him and taking the bottle, and then Brainy being left there alone, Then a bit of hope with Nia’s vision. it was the best part of the ending this season and i want to see more.  that is how you don’t rush an ending let the audience feel the consequences for the character choices with the character.
anyway season 5 rant over.

this leap is on faith
Tagging: @shakeandquake & Supergirl, features @ofalexdanvers What: In which Daisy and Kara search for Alex, and maybe learn a little bit about each other in the process. Where: Undisclosed SHIELD Facility When: December 26th, 2019 Warnings: Blood
DAISY: The facility being dark meant could only mean a few things - and since Alex wasn’t picking up her phone, her mind went to the worst scenarios. The facility could be in lockdown mode, which was why it wasn’t sending or receiving communications... or it had been attacked. Those were the only two options that Daisy could come up with that would explain why they had been silent since Christmas Day.
When Daisy arrived at the scene and saw the remnants of the building, her stomach turned - and it took every ounce of self-control she had to wait for Supergirl. And the only reason she did wait, was because her own powers weren’t well suited for recovery missions. (Her luck, quaking a path through the facility would only cause more damage.)
As Supergirl landed next to her, Daisy glanced at the woman and nodded her head. “Daisy,” she introduced quickly, “I’d say it’s nice to meet you but...” Daisy shook her head, considering where they were and the state of the facility. This was the worst possible way to meet a person. Alex might be somewhere inside the rubble and - Daisy didn’t know Supergirl, so at the same time she was panicking internally about where Alex might be, she was trying not to show any of that to the stranger next to her. “You have the same powers as Superman, right? Can you tell if anyone is still inside?”
Kara: They hadn't quite discovered the upper limits of Kara's flight speed. Generally, she stopped when the wind cut too hard at her skin, when it became painful and she began to break down. The wind cut painfully hard as she made her way to the address Daisy had given her, New York City to the jetstream and back down to the SHIELD facility in a blink.
Even so, she alighted gently next to Daisy, absorbing the damage and immediately deciding anything harder than feather-light could be disastrous. Her chest felt like it was full of the rubble surrounding them, air barely filling around cracks in concrete. It took everything in her not to shake. She was Supergirl, and this was Daisy Johnson, and Kara Danvers wasn't there.
"We'll find her, then it will be nice to meet you." She offered a smile despite the rapid beat of her own heart – Supergirl is hope, after all – and nodded. "If I can just hear her..." The trail off felt ominous as she closed her eyes to listen. Alex's heartbeat was a familiar pattern, and she tried to find it past the drip of broken water lines and the groan of shifting concrete and wood. Everything was too loud, too much, but she had to believe it would be in there somewhere. "I'm going to move around, like...like a metal detector, I guess. If we get close I might be able to hear her heartbeat. Step lightly, okay?"
DAISY: This was her fault - Daisy knew that. If she had never asked Alex to come to this place, if she had gotten out of the Raft a day sooner.. all of this could have been avoided. Self-loathing was a constant for Daisy, a comfortable feeling that she fell into any time shit hit the fan. But especially when people she cared about were hurt (physically or emotionally) because of her actions. “We’ll find her,” Daisy affirmed, nodding her head towards Supergirl. They had to. Alex’s name couldn’t be added to the list of bodies at Daisy’s feet. It couldn’t.
“Let’s narrow the search then,” Daisy said, not wanting Supergirl to have to scan the entire building - but also because she wasn’t sure how long Alex could survive trapped under the rubble. (Assuming she was alive.) “They call me Quake, but my power isn’t actually earthquakes,” she explained, placing a hand on the exterior of the building. “It’s actually vibration manipulation. And everything gives off different vibrations. So... if I do this right, I should be able to sense where the voids are. The pockets inside the building. And anything else inside.”
Bodies.
She didn’t want to say that out loud. Bodies didn’t always imply a pulse.
Exhaling, Daisy sent out a wave of gentle vibrations through the building, nothing significant enough to knock down the walls, but enough so that Daisy could feel the interior. “There are a few pockets,” she murmured. “Southeast corner... and one in the core of the warehouse. It’s... I think that’s the evidence lockup. That’s towards the center of the building. We should start in those spots.”
Kara: There could only be so many voids in concrete and rubble. Kara wondered if Daisy knew the contours of each empty space, exactly what size and shape it would have to be to fit her sister. She wondered about voids in relationships, and how if one of them had made the right size and shape for communication and trust, maybe she wouldn't have to think about voids at all.
Instead, she was standing on ruins with Daisy Johnson, considering the idea she'd lost her sister for the second time in only two months.
"That's helpful." Kara's voice fell flat against the concrete. She tuned out and watched Daisy work, tugging at her sleeves and liable to blow away in the wind. It was helpful. Even if Daisy Johnson had somehow come to represent the gaping hole in her relationship with Alex, Kara had to respect that she was there. She'd reached out, and she obviously cared. She was her own person, and Alex had said trust.
"Thank you, I– I know you reaching out meant a lot to...her sister." It did little to explain her own presence. The Danvers sisters with a superhero at their beck and call, a superhero trying hard not to shake or crash through the building or break before she could find Alex. Alex, and not a body. She curled her fingers against her palms and gave a definitive nod, lips set in a grim line.
From there, Kara made quick work of each section. Her feet skated above the rubble, careful of disturbing anything over possibly empty space. She tried not to think about how many people were there, how many times she heard the faint echo of a heartbeat or agonal gasp only for the sound to fade and stop. None of it was Alex, until "Here! I think she's right here. Alex! Alex, can you hear me?"
DAISY: This wasn’t going to end the same way all Daisy’s other relationships had - Daisy refused to let Alex be another body left in the wake of her destruction. Alex deserved better. Kara deserved better. (Just like Lincoln and Amanda. Robbie and Gabe. Coulson and May.) She was Daisy Johnson. Destroyer of Worlds... and while she hadn’t cracked the Earth yet, she was destroying it - one relationship at a time.
“If you don’t trust me... I don’t blame you. I wouldn’t trust me either,” Daisy said quietly. She didn’t want to push Supergirl away, but she also didn’t want the other woman to think she had to pretend to be her friend. Daisy knew exactly who she was and what she represented for most people. And now, for both sides, she didn’t represent anything good. For other powered individuals, Daisy was still the face of the Accords. And to civilians, she was a menace. A woman who had not only broken her promise to the Accords and the public but someone who had escaped their most prized prison for people like her.
But then Supergirl followed it up with a thank you and Daisy found herself pausing. “Wouldn’t be so sure about that,” Daisy said humorlessly. Supergirl was probably friends with Kara and Alex - otherwise, why would she be here? She opened her mouth, about to fall in on herself, say that they’d both have been better off if she had stayed several miles away from them. But she glanced at Supergirl and shook her head. “This is my fault,” Daisy explained. “And I barely even know her sister, can’t imagine what she’ll think of me after she finds out about... everything.”
Supergirl moved ahead, going to the spots that Daisy had called out, and Daisy started carefully navigating over the rubble, trying not to disturb too much - or create too much noise. Hearing Supergirl call out Alex’s name, Daisy moved quicker, catching up to Supergirl. She placed a hand on the rubble and sent out a faint vibration, feeling the reverb in the shape of Alex’s body. “She’s pinned,” Daisy said, trying to calm the panic in her voice. “We need to move carefully - if you can pick these up, I can stabilize the surrounding pieces. You ready?”
Kara: I wouldn't trust me, either.
Kara looked over, trademark crinkle forming between her eyebrows. She was trying. It wasn't even a trust thing, though it would be a lie to say she hadn't been shocked when she saw Daisy on her doorstep. It was an Alex thing. It was an Alex not telling Kara about her thing. It was Daisy being a distant enigma for whom her sister would apparently risk her life, and all Kara knew was what she read in the papers.
But there was obviously much more to her. More than being the face of the Accords, more than snappy text messages when Alex's life was on the line. Daisy was trying, too. Daisy was quietly disparaging herself, shoving away Kara's honest gratitude like she couldn't believe she deserved it. Something twisted uncomfortably in her chest, and if she had room to think anything other than 'where is Alex,' she might wonder about it. "Neither of us would be here if Director Danvers didn't trust you, and that means a lot in my book."
Everything after that was a blur of Alex's heartbeat ticking steadily in her ears, hands too strong and too fast shaking as she pulled slabs of concrete and wood from the pile. Trust. Trusting Daisy to hold the rest in place until finally, finally the small opening in the rubble was revealed. The concrete in her hands crumbled to dust with a crack and Kara was in the space before it hit the ground. "Alex, hey Alex it's okay." She was pale and still and dusty but breathing. Kara brushed the dust off her temple with a thumb and her voice shook but Alex. "I've got you, it's going to be okay."
She glanced up at Daisy through the remaining rubble, remembering decorum and distance. This was Supergirl, not Kara. Supergirl didn't have a stake other than saving the Director of the DEO. Supergirl wasn't allowed to feel. "Her hearts beating, but she needs to get to a hospital."
DAISY: Looking at Supergirl, the fragile smile on her face was a little more solid. More real. She was a good person and she was pointing at Daisy and telling her that on her first impression, she wasn’t so bad either. Maybe Supergirl was right - or maybe she didn’t know Daisy well enough to make a judgment like that... but they both trusted Alex. And they were both here for her. And that much, Daisy could also trust. “She’s a good judge of character,” Daisy relented with a nod of her head. That applied to her judgment of Daisy as well - but for now, she’d accept that too. This wasn’t the place to break down.
Though, she was using her powers, that meant she wasn’t going to have much of a choice. Something that she had kept from both Alex and Supergirl. The reverb from her powers was intense. She had her arms up, the shift in vibrations she was emitting was visible in the air while Supergirl dug through the rubble. Daisy kept her heartbeat as calm as she could, but she could feel the splintering in her arms and the wet under her nose. Blood.
Supergirl moved quickly once Alex’s body was revealed and Daisy could hear her gasp before she felt the breath enter her lungs. The rubble she had been holding up crumbled around them after Supergirl cleared the blast zone. Breathlessly, Daisy looked at Alex’s still body in Supergirl’s arms and wiped the blood from her nose. Daisy would heal... but Alex? She had a heartbeat and Daisy was clinging to what little hope she had left.
“Take her, please,” Daisy said, her eyes moving up to look Supergirl in the eyes. “I -- I can’t, for obvious reasons, I think. They see me and they’ll focus on all the wrong things. Get... get her the help she needs.”
Kara: The world centered on Alex's heartbeat, the steady in and out of air in her lungs. She knew what it sounded like, the moment before it stopped, that stutter step it did before stuttering to a halt. She knew what it sounded like when it started again, soft and unsure and unsteady. It sounded strong, if not irregular.
Kara breathed a sigh of relief and picked her up in her arms gently, adjusting until her head rested against her shoulders and her arms were tucked. She didn't look up until Alex was secure, until she could feel her chest rise and fall when the wind picked up and she couldn't hear it anymore.
She turned to give Daisy and nod and paused, honestly paused for the first time since Alex hadn't shown up for Christmas. There was blood smeared under her nose and and across her fingers where she'd wiped it away, and Kara looked before she could stop herself. No concussion, nose straight and equal, arms...riddled, hairline fractures traced in callus, uneven and healed in various positions. She could trace the new lines by following the old. Her mouth worked around words for a moment, something twisting unexpectedly in her chest, and she wondered how safely she could carry two. If Jean's discretion stretched this far, how fast she could move them both into a quiet room.
She'd fight off anyone who tried to take them.
But Daisy's injuries weren't life-threatening, they were practiced; old hat. Her mouth snapped shut, and she nodded. Somewhere she made a promise to visit Daisy Johnson again. She'd remember it. "You should see someone, too, if you can. If you know somewhere discreet. I'll take Alex, and...thank you, Daisy. For everything."
With that, she kicked off, dust lifting in her wake.

And when I say a lot of t*rf posts end up on my dashboard I mean it and it’s always so hard to try to separate between the people who are ultimately well meaning and didn’t know and those who spread this stuff maliciously. That post is right tho if you know what r*dfem transmisogyny and transphobia looks and sounds like it’s harder to fall for these posts... the shitty thing about t*rf shit is that it trickles down, in a progressive scale from their blogs to seemingly “neutral” (but never actually neutral*) blogs that maybe sound a little iffy but never outright call themselves g/ender critical or name trans people, onto complicit popular discourse blogs and then on people’s dashboards. *Hell one time I saw a blog that seemed like an innocent supergirl femslash blog just to find she reblogged constantly from t*rfs posts that were just on the borderline and never outright mentioned trans people, only buzzwords and this is what I mean by “neutral” blogs that are actually complicit. This blog has a lot of followers. How many of them reblog these posts uncritically? And I wish there were more lists of said buzzwords and how to recognise them but
The reality is that we trans people especially trans women have to be constantly on the watch for shit like this. We know the arguments and we know why they’re bullshit. Meanwhile cis people don’t really know the specifics of their ideology and seem to fall for it over and over. And the worst thing about it is that t*rfs use this as confirmation bias that their ideas are actually good and everyone would agree with them if they just present it without the slurs and mocking. But the slurs demeaning and mocking are a fundamental part of it, and of trans exclusion in general. Fear mongering and dehumanising trans people are the mean to wiping us out of existence.
I won’t explain why those ideas are wrong because I’m starting from the assumption that my followers are not transphobic and don’t find statements like “trans women are women” controversial, but buzzwords include (warning for blunt discussions of transphobia):
- expressing “concern” about men invading women’s spaces or the “purity” of said spaces (they don’t use the word purity but as a concept in general). This concern is never explained, only stated, because once you look into it you find that it’s actually about trans women. As a side note, the whole “invasion” thing is a popular one and it is reminiscent of white s*premacist bullshit ... this idea that since gay trans people are “actually straight” we will eventually outnumber “the real” gay people by calling ourselves gay and invading their spaces. the more you know ... if this doesn’t ring a bell you need to look into actual n*zi theories like “the gre//at re\\placement” and then we can talk again. The jump from t*rf to alt-ri/ght trad mom is shorter and swifter than either of those groups would have you believe
- males can’t be lesbians” a pretty non controversial statement if it wasn’t that male is code for trans women. “Men who fetishise lesbians” is also a tricky one because while this is indeed a real issue, they’re referring to “auto/g/ynephilia” aka the idea that the reason lesbian and bi trans women transition at all is just because they fetishise the idea of themselves as a woman/lesbian (contrapoints has a good in depth video about this that explains better than I ever could) — on the same note talk about how “male sexuality” is something inherently corrupt, oppressing, and violent, and cannot be healthy ever, without any other context given is also usually code for “trans women are perverts and sexual predators” . The word “p//ornsick” also comes up often so watch out for it.
- the pervasive idea that a group of “straight people fetishising being gay/a lesbian” is out there and threatening REAL gay/lesbian spaces starts from here. I’ve mentioned a/utogy/nephilia but “fujoshi” is usually code for gay trans men, with a similar idea behind it. We’re not really gay men, just straight women who fetishise the idea of ourselves as a gay man... at least that’s the idea behind it.
- which brings us to the point. “straight people invading gay spaces” is usually if not always code for gay trans people.
- kinda related to the above point, honestly you’re all fools if you think the whole ace discourse bullshit wasn’t just eventually a path to trans and bisexual exclusion. Trans and bi people have been saying this for years but no one wants to listen. That’s not to say that exclusionists are t*rfs but those ideas were popularised by them... that’s just to say learn where your ideology comes from before you endorse it and embrace it
- similarly “queer is a slur” started there so you might want to reconsider why you’ve been convinced to tag your posts “q slur” by people who use other homophobic slurs pretty liberally lol . “Queer means straight people invade our spaces!” + any talk about gnc straight men/women and how it doesn’t make them queer or lgbt, Yeah, this was about never about “gnc” it was trans people all along. The implication is that trans people don’t exist, so we can be nothing but gnc “males/females”. Congrats! You’re a fool! Now don’t make me read this bullshit ever again.
- stuff that makes fun of said “gnc people” “queers” , man buns, undercuts, brightly coloured hair, specific names (aiden comes to my mind) careful about posts that mock the concept of “queering heterosexuality” they’re usually about gay couples with one trans and one cis person, or where both people are trans but with different asab. (ie a gay trans man dating a pan cis man, a trans woman and an afab nb person dating will get mocked as “straight people” who are just pretending to be anything but) sometimes it’s also about bi people jsyk but...
- “forcing young lesbians to not identify as lesbians”/“stop telling young lesbians they should be/are men” is also a big thing. implies that trans people are out there recruiting teenagers who would otherwise be cis lesbians (or more rarely cis gay men) and forcing them into identifying as trans. “young lesbians” also doesn’t always mean young lesbians it’s usually meant to misgender trans men who already identify as men (but in this theoretical framework trans as a concept is nonexistent, a perversion, a delusion, so what could we be but porn/sick straight people or delusional, misguided cis gays who fall victim of a conspiracy)
- entire blogs dedicated to d/etransition (or “reidentifi/cation” as they call it now) experiences that don’t bother to acknowledge that their experience is not universal and au contraire seem to want to push detransition as the one way to happiness especially for afab people. Yes I do think that people who detransition should be able to talk about it, but if the conclusions you draw are “this didn’t work for me so it’s toxic and bad for everyone”, and openly advocate against trans people’s existence, you’re full of shit. Only a small percentage of trans people detransition: over 90% of us are satisfied with the results. It’s all just concern trolling.
- posts about how dysphoria is either a “delusion” or a “normal female experience”, posts that sound a lot like body positivity but they’re actually pushing for detransition (ie you should accept your body as is, surgery is mutilation of your already perfect body etc etc) this is also tricky but it’s all in the language. Phrases like “young women who undergo surgery to fix their already good bodies” could refer to a variety of things but it’s all in the context. Words like “reconnect” “reidentification” are usually presented as alternative. Dysphoria is usually not named and referred to as a delusion or social pressure and something that should never be considered real, ie if you see something like “young women undergo surgery to chase a delusion” it probably comes from a t*rf. be wary of any surgery talk in general is my point because it’s usually presenting gcs as on the same level of lip fillers and Botox (ignoring that trans people face infinite struggles to access surgery and social ostracism for pursuing medical transition so it’s not the same AT ALL)
- talk about stuff like “hrt is dangerous actually” and “binding is horrible actually”? Yeah. You can guess where it comes from. It’s important to acknowledge the risks of hrt/binding but sensationalism about how it’s dangerous and could kill you and so on... it’s just overblown concern trolling to convince people that medical transition is mutilation and a conspiracy to kill the above mentioned “young lesbians”
- sentiments akin to “t*rf is a slur used against lesbians” even if not presented this way are also a red flag, sorry. If you don’t want to be called a t*rf, maybe don’t speak and act like one.
- the sad news is in the end there’s no way to discern whether someone is a t*rf or not because a lot of the time these same talking points come from blogs that have little “t*rfs don’t interact tee hee!” Banners on their description. A lot of r/adfem blogs out there are side blogs of people you wouldn’t usually suspect. Maybe they are vocal against trans exclusion, and in support of trans people, and then switch accounts to hurl about how horrible it is that they feel forced to welcome us “sexual pervert straight people” into their spaces. That’s why imo it’s more important to recognise the ideology than it is to look for clues. Again, if it sounds like one, it’s probably one :’)

Supergirl - ‘Will the Real Miss Tessmacher Please Stand Up?’ Review
Tumblr media
Brainy: I urge you, follow your heart. Not your orders.
This episode had some very good bits, but it also had a storyline that dragged.
Someone getting stood up at the altar is a standard trope in TV shows. What I’ve never seen before is abandoning your child at a funeral! After last week’s episode, which ended with an alien murdering George Lockwood’s mother, I wondered how the Supergirl writers would keep the young man pro-alien. Well, they found a way. Ben Lockwood’s behavior was so outrageous that even his son accused him of being the catalyst for his mother’s murder, which was absolutely true. If you start beating people (or aliens) up, at some point some of them will defend themselves. And I didn’t think Ben Lockwood’s behavior was out of character. He is, as his son said, a bitter, angry old man.
Lena and Kara working together was fun. The plane that could fly itself dispensed with the need for additional characters, which I suppose is easier on the budget, and meant that Kara could go be Supergirl during the inevitable disaster, in this case a purple lightning storm, which nearly crashes the airplane.
They make their way to Lex’s lair, which has conveniently been left with only Eve Tessmacher to guard it. Except it’s many copies of Miss Tessmacher, thanks to Lex’s siphoning off the powers of the alien Kopy. Miss Tessmacher makes many copies of herself, but the more copies she makes, the stupider they become. As she looks exactly like the stereotypical dumb blonde (despite her character being an accomplished scientist in this series), it’s fun to watch her sputter and splutter. The blue-tipped pain sticks were also fun, as was the time that Lena broke off her heel and pulled out a knife.
The other sequence with lots of action involved Ben Lockwood chasing aliens. He goes to the DEO to get assistance, and with Colonel Haley and Director Danvers both away, no one can stand up to him (although Brainy tries). Ben Lockwood ends up taking the Harun-El to give himself superpowers – which makes him sort of alien, too.
There are some good fight scenes in the action-oriented storylines, with lots of blue-tipped pain sticks, cars being tossed about, Dreamer doing some swirling blue waves, many copies of Miss Tessmacher, James and Brainy, and finally J’onn J’onzz showing up. Cutting between multiple fights is visually interesting, so I thought that was entertaining. However, the only bit of dialogue that resonated was Brainy’s, when he urged the people following Ben Lockwood’s orders to stop.
The visit to the lair in Kaznia is fruitful. Kara and Lena discover plenty, from the torturing being done to aliens to the complicity of someone in the White House. Kara also discovers that Red Daughter may have some good in her. There’s also the great dilemma of whether or not Kara should tell Lena that she’s Supergirl (given that Lex already knows, there’s no practical reason not to tell her).
After the last week’s episode, I was expecting some bonding between Alex Danvers and Kelly Olsen. However, the story for them in this episode felt forced. True, Alex did apply to an adoption agency a while back, but this storyline of “baby coming within the next twenty-four hours” to “baby not coming but being kept by the biological mother” felt unearned – especially as Alex says at the end that she’s so “wounded that she doesn't think she'll ever recover” by its not happening. That’s too much wounding for a baby she didn’t know about two days earlier, especially as she spent the whole time eating chocolate and hyperventilating about how she didn’t know if she was ready to be a mother (all stuff that has been repeated ad nauseam on a million different sitcoms). If she wants more than anything to be a mother, how come she didn’t make any more investment in the process than browsing online for a pram? And given the crisis at the DEO, how come no one from there called her? (That would have shown the work/mother dilemma, which ought to be big for Alex.) Also, Alex gushes how wonderful her mother was; why didn’t she call her when she was about to get a baby? The only consequence of this storyline was that we discovered that Kelly Olsen is also a lesbian, which makes her a potential partner for Alex. I don’t mind Alex and Kelly together, but I did not like this storyline.
Another problem with this episode is that there was nothing between Alex and Kara. The Alex-and-Kara relationship used to be the heart of the show. In this episode Kelly asks Alex what advice Kara would give, and Alex knows Kara well enough to say exactly what she would say – but that’s all we get, and that is not enough. Ever since Alex’s memories of Kara = Supergirl had to be wiped, their relationship has gone missing. Before Kara goes to the White House to get herself captured we see her in a conversation with James. She can confide in James, but not in Alex.
There’s a great tag at the end with Kara/Supergirl getting captured, and our discovering that President Baker is apparently aware of what has been going on in Kaznia. The rot goes all the way to the top.
Title musings: “Will the Real Miss Tessmacher Please Stand Up?” This phrase was the line (well, without "Tessmacher") in a show called To Tell the Truth, in which three people would all claim to be the same person, and where the question was what led to the reveal. (Thanks to Billie Doux for remembering this.) The obvious reference is to all the clones of Eve Tessmacher. But it is also a less obvious reference to Kara/Supergirl, who is not being her real self with respect to Lena and to Alex.
Bits and pieces
Historically Eve’s last name has been Teschmacher, but Amazon has spelled it Tessmacher and IMDb (owned by Amazon) has spelled it both ways. Sigh.
Since they used a similar technique with many copies of Manchester Black a few episodes back, I guess this is something that the special effects team has mastered. Or can do at less expense,
After Lena turned one of her heels into a knife, wouldn’t she be fighting funny? Having one foot in a high heel and the other not makes for an awkward gait.
I liked George Lockwood's story about his mother painting her tooth black.
Quotes
Alex: Must be strange to have a sibling with superpowers.
Ben Lockwood/Agent Liberty: Let’s start with James Olsen because I would like to know how the hell he got superpowers.
Lena: Cut the crap, Eva Braun. You’re a backstabber and a liar.
Kelly: You care too much to fail, Alex.
Alex: What did your scars teach you?
George: I saw you today. Just another bitter, angry man.
Overall Rating
Much of this episode was quite good. I liked the Ben/George Lockwood storylines and the Kara/Lena stuff. Some of the dialogue was a little flat, but the directions of those stories were good. The Alex/Kelly thread, however, was forced and cliché and dragged down the episode. Two and a half out of four blue-tipped pain sticks.
Victoria Grossack loves math, Greek mythology, Jane Austen and great storytelling in many forms.

Fandom: Justice League & Justice League Unlimited (Cartoons) Rating: Not Rated Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: vic/ollie kinda but not really, its really more like vic/ollie and their sassy daughter Characters: Oliver Queen, Vic Sage, The Question (DCU), Kara Zor-El, Supergirl (DCU) Additional Tags: jlu, pretend husbands Summary:
Vic, Ollie, and Kara get caught on a stakeout and Kara makes up the most knee-jerk reaction excuse she can. Time to collect two more dads I guess.
Also posted under the cut!
So far it had been a pretty uneventful stake out, or rather ‘criminally boring’ as Kara had described it. The only good thing about it was that they happened to be posted outside a Starbucks, so at least she could have a refresher while she waited for literally anything to happen. Question... Vic, she reminded herself, had rolled his eyes at her boredom but she could tell Ollie was on her side.
They’d been sitting out in the baking sun for the better part of 6 hours, posted across the street from a building that was nearly indistinguishable from the other hundreds of sky scrapers in Metropolis. Vic had reminded her that unlike all those other buildings, this one supposedly had a criminal ring working drug and weapons deals with a bunch of Hub City crooks, but as far as Kara could see it was just full of tired, sweaty thirty somethings running from meeting to meeting with their briefcases full of boring, old run of the mill business stuff. ...Ok maybe Kara wasn’t sure what business men do, but as far as she could tell it was pretty mundane and, just like this stake out, criminally boring at best.
Currently, Vic and Ollie were arguing about the conspicuous or inconspicuous nature of sitting outside a Starbucks for six hours. That following an argument about the apparent ethically disparity between Burger King and McDonalds, the connection between Justin Bieber and recent political elections, and an actually somewhat normal argument about the St. Louis Blues versus the Star City Stars.
“Why can’t you admit you just feel like getting up? Normal people don’t hang out at Starbucks for six hours.”
“Hey, sorry I don’t feel like hiding in a dumpster. I didn’t hear you say no to a third basic ass pumpkin spice latte.”
Vic shot a quick glance at the offending beverage before taking a long defiant drink and pitching the empty cup in the trash.
“The eye contact felt a little unnecessary.”
Vic didn’t respond and simply pointedly gestured to get up with a jerk of his head.
Responding in turn, Ollie brought the straw of his refresher to his lips and took a leisurely sip, likewise with unbroken eye contact.
Kara awkwardly cleared her throat intent on ending this tiff but was interrupted.
“Is there a problem over here?”
Shit. One of the guards from the building full of criminally boring business men had come over.
“Odd place to come people watch.”
All three of them remained frozen, trying to think of a reasonable explanation.
After an awkward sound that was somewhere between a very unconvincing fake laugh and a person choking on rice, Kara blurted out the best answer she could.
“SORRY MY DADS ALWAYS ARGUE WHEN WE TRAVEL.”
Ollie inhaled his straw, hacking, eyes wide as Vic stiffened somehow even more. She heard Vic whisper ‘How old do you think we are,’ probably only audible to her.
No one was talking, just Kara trying hard to smile (she was certain it looked unconvincing) as she tried to maintain intense eye contact, while Ollie coughed in the background.
“Yep, he wants to go hat shopping and he’s looking for more turtlenecks...”
...Why did she do that? Why did she just pick two random aspects of their attire??
The guard now looked confused and in disbelief. Just then Vic’s hand shot aggressively across the table and gripped Ollie’s.
“He won’t believe that you can buy both in the same store.” He deadpanned.
Kara gaped and Vic; Ollie, still red in the face from coughing, shot him a withering glare. The guard looked from Kara to Ollie to Vic, who was giving a look of intense sincerity despite his bold faced lie, then back to Ollie.
“... You’ve seriously been arguing about that for six hours?” A nod from Vic. “You can definitely buy both in the same store...”
Everyone was now staring at Ollie. Kara gave him a desperate look and Vic raised his eyebrows with a shit eating smirk. Ollie sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Yeah well... it’s better quality at a specialty store...”
The guard furrowed his brow...
“Maybe so, but to argue for six hours about it? That’s not healthy... not for the two of you and definitely not for a child.”
Ollie went even more red and Kara could barely keep it together when she saw Vic’s eyes go wide looking like he was about to have an aneurysm trying not to laugh.
“I keep telling them that,” Kara barely managed to get out.
“She’s right, children need a stable environment with healthy relationships to emulate. Just get to a Hugo Boss, compromise is the key to any relationship.”
Desperate for this conversation to end, Ollie answered almost too quickly, “You’re absolutely right, thanks for the advise let’s go... dear...”
Ollie pulled Vic up and motioned for Kara.
“We'll just being going then... for some ... hat and turtleneck shopping...”
Kara got up but didn’t follow.
“It doesn’t count if you don’t actually apologize and make up.”
Ollie gave her a look that would have burned her off the face of the earth if he’d had heat vision. But, since they were in too deep to quit, he turned to Vic who was giving him a squint he didn’t like paired with a smirk he liked even less.
“VerysorryIwasbeingunreasonableletsgo.”
“Sorry, what was that?” Vic pushed his ear forward with a finger to indicate Ollie should try again.
With a deep sigh, Ollie restarted, “Sorry, I was being unreasonable, let’s go.”
“Okay,” Vic said, and them much to Ollie’s distress, kissed him directly on the mouth. Kara had to restrain herself from staring agape, and Ollie seemed stunned in place.
Vic, feeling no shame began leading Ollie away by the hand. “Well, let’s go.” They started walking away, Kara trailing behind and snickering. The guard gave himself a self satisfied nod and returned across the street to his post. Once they were decently out of sight, Ollie pulled his hand back.
“Was that really necessary?”
“Had to make it look convincing.” As though it were the most understandable thing in the world.
“Dinah’s not going to be a fan of this...”
“Really? Because I just won a bet with Hel.”
“I’m sorry, WHAT?”
Well at least this wasn’t the most boring stakeout ever, Kara thought as she trailed after them, wonder who she tell first.
