yEAH IT IS (but it's also about jamie and zoe's relationship and what it means to be a time traveller). and that's why i haven't gotten back to it in a while because, as i'm sure you can guess from the asks you've sent that i've never answered, i've hit a bit of a brick wall in trying to flesh it out 😭 i still have the vague shape of it in my head but when i try to actually write it in a coherent way i get nowhere.

but i really like the concept of that fic, so i'm hoping i'll figure it out eventually! the idea is that zoe, realizing history is her blind spot, takes to the library in search of books on the time period jamie is from, one of which happens to contain a translation of maccrimmon's lament (and no, the fact that the accepted spelling doesn't match the official spelling of jamie's name doesn't bother me at all i promise). and jamie finds her, and they have a bit of a row, and he has to confront not only his own lingering feelings on his father's death and their falling out, but also his own place in history, or lack thereof. not just in relation to his father, but also in the context of the 45 as a whole, and what came after. the world didn't stop turning when he left, after all, and at some point it stops being his story. and what degree of privacy is he entitled to when events he still bears the scars from, and events he should have lived through but never will, have been reduced to facts and figures for the consumption of someone from 300 years in his future?

I’ve got this way I draw faces and heads and it’s a whole bunch of steps, but then I just wanted to doodle out a comic idea real quick and remembered how I USED to draw heads, which is way quicker, and-

It still looks good?? It looks better than it used to, even?? I spent half the effort on it than I usually do and it looks just as good, I’ve just been thinking too much.

I’ve barely done anything with this knowledge, but just something about realizing and knowing and remembering that I really CAN just switch my brain off and enjoy drawing with so much less stress just feels great
