#Fourfold Soul #<- That's the title of the project I've been working on!#I am very excited to finally show off the cowboy (gender redacted) I've been cooking in a slow boil!!! Yeehaw!#Yes this is the game project. YES I am commited to the bit of having the main character go through a long running pronoun-quest.#This character does not have a name so I cannot formally tag them...#(Okay. Technically they have an internal name for coding/scripting reasons...and I have a nickname for them.#But the important part of making a video game character you get to eventually name is that the name must come from *you*!)#The girl here is a npc so she has a temporary name. So I also cannot tag her. Hmm...#I have several FFS comics thumbnailed out. This one got made first because it's the funniest without context. Lore wise it's weak.#I would love to post the sexy clown but you have to wait just a few more comics.#Fun artist woes moment to share: This is the first time I've had to colour these characters traditionally. *That* was NOT fun.#Going from a specific digital colour palette to being at the whims of my limited colour choices in markers? Hell! On! Earth!#I might also be extra frustrated because this sure is 3x the length of what I usually do for comics! I spent a Whole Day on this.#Past me thought it was soooo funny and needed all the extra panels for pacing. I hate past me. That guy needs to be exploded.

It's up to interpretation)#Long post #I'm so sorry I didn't mean for it to be THIS much #I started this like a week ago -A-#Lies down and lets out a long howl it's finisheeeeeed #I could have just drawn them spooning and written the rest but noooo I love to do things the hard way #Anyway I think they should be bed buddies #The company helps Cross relax enough to sleep and the touch helps knock Killer out #Cross has to be big spoon because otherwise Killer's soul gets squished and it's too uncomfortable to sleep #Also I realised Cross and Nightmare are the only two in the castle who didn't have knock knock jokes in their backstory #I like to imagine Nightmare has had similar confusing interactions with at least one of them #Cross probably spends the rest of the day panicked that he overstepped a boundary or the others will make fun of him #Not realising that Dust and Horror have fallen asleep together many times #Or that Killer hasn't slept properly in weeks and he's in heaven #I'm NOT drawing a follow up so just imagine Killer coming to Cross's room the next night and finding every excuse to stay #Because he wants it to happen again but he has no idea how to ask (and also Cross seems kinda awkward about it)#Absolutely terrified that I spent my whole week off working on this and it might be not that great so I hope at least one person likes this

Since Clora grew up in a muggle household and Eloise spent 5 years in a muggle finishing school (reading was the only worthwhile part😤) they bond a lot over muggle literature💓💓💓 once a month they choose a book (lots of times repeat their favorites) and meet up for a coffee to discuss the book and gossip😇🥹💓

Clora is yapping a lot in the beginning but towards the end Eloise gets worked up too and they enthusiastically yell at each other about different plot points😇🙏

I felt like making up "angwy uwu" designs for Phil and Bad cuz yknow the whole angel demon thing, with no real intent to create context for them, but by the time I finished them we had the Election Diner code incident and the kidnapping of Dapper which made me go [blinking white guy meme]

I gotta give huge props to OngakuK for giving me inspo on some aspects 'Cause designing godlike figures with tons of ornements and symbolism is her shit, so I sent her my first drafts and asked for feedback and she gave me really cool ideas

My og designs for them are much tamer : Phil has got far less pairs of wings and 20 eyes less & Bad has got far less teeth and one single lower jaw

#mmmm my beautiful dim apartment with my beautiful noise cancelling headphones #my one coworker continues to complain to me about the job which that part tbh is fine because i complain too #it is a little stupid sometimes but she is like 'aren't you tired of this' and i'm kind of like #sooo the thing is ��👈#i've created a life for myself in which i'm happy frequently #all i wanted was a boring job and my independence #to go to social events Sometimes and to generally be on good terms with coworkers #to work on my own hobbies to have friends and a routine and for my family to be healthy and safe #to set fun challenges for myself on occasion #i have what i spent my 20s wanting. idk #yes it took chemical help and i had to give up on some things and restructure the whole way i thought about myself #it wasn't ever the hard work that i minded #like. every day i get up and do some tasks and daydream the whole time and sometimes listen to books!#it's basically my dream #now when it's 10 hour shifts 6 days a week that is difficult but that's only a month out of the year #do you hear that? i only want to kms a month out of the year!#it's difficult to explain all that to someone who hates doing tasks and needs social interaction/validation

Gosh, do I love discovery writing. The freedom. The sense of play. The way you have to hold the material lightly and follow where it leads, never being afraid to scrap things that don't work or to rewrite to emphasize things that do. You have the fun of discovering the story you're writing rather than the frustration of being unable to capture the ideas in your head. This way might wind up taking ages, but it makes the writing process such a joy.

#adventures in writing #i stayed up until i'm-not-going-to-tell-you-how-late finding my way into my inklings story #good news: this process means that i like the story that's taking shape #it's not the story i had in mind #the concept is there but i'm not sure i'm going to be able to work my way to my planned inciting incident #but it's delightful so far #i started the story and spent an hour or more on it #then realized it wasn't working and completely started over #with new names for all the characters and places and a new starting place for the story #new way's working much better but i'm already considering how i can rework some sections and rename some characters #the great thing about this is the freedom that comes from trying something and then trying something else #the bad thing is that when you know every detail could impact which direction you take the story #you spend a lot of time carefully crafting the details #but there's a decent chance you'll completely rewrite the whole section #at least i've learned this part of the process and i'm not going to agonize over the timeline #the opening takes forever but i know once the story gets going the later parts fall into place more easily #anyway this'll likely take more than five days #but at least i'm spending the time writing instead of dithering over an outline for two weeks #and having fun instead of wallowing in frustration and indecision
