you know what really pisses me off? so many people acting like he is the worst person out there and no one will miss him. A LOT of people are grieving now and missing him including people that these people supposedly follow and care about. liam was not the supervillain people wanted him to be. he was messed up and did messed up things likely because of what happened to him. this conversation deserves so much more nuance than people are giving it. and maybe it’s too early to have this conversation now but it’s helping me process and grieve so i’m really writing this for me. people are complex and doing bad things doesn’t make you a bad person or someone worthy of death without being given the chance to make things right. and another thing, it is SO hypocritical to make fun of him and look down on him like he’s the ultimate Bad Guy meanwhile i bet every single person you have ever admired in the spotlight has likely also done bad things or at least things you wouldn’t be proud of. fame is an illness and it can cause people to harm others because they were hurt themselves. human beings are a culmination of everything that they’ve been through and everything they’ve done. he is not only the bad things he’s done and it’s okay and normal to grieve him as a whole person, because he was one.

Star Wars au set in the 70s where Luke is in a not so fulfilling job as a law clerk, he starts writing as a hobby and ends up writing a very vague version of the original Star Wars trilogy. It does very well and Luke’s pretty proud of himself for the original idea until Leia reads it and has some notes

Leia:….you’re aware this is just your life in space right?

Luke: huh? What are you talking about?

Leia: well let’s see, a young farm boy named Mark Starkiller raised by his aunt and uncle.

Luke: well that’s just coincidence

Leia: he teams up with a sarcastic outlaw and his hairy alien friend, this is obviously Han and Chewie

Luke: wha- no it’s not-

Leia: and let me guess, the princess is his long lost sister?

Luke:…oh my god-

Leia: not to mention this stoic ‘mandalorian’ character who is a misunderstood father to a little alien baby and has undeniable sexual tension with the main character

Of all the themes in Mouthwashing, I think the themes of punishment and virtue are the most subtle.

It’s so odd because it’s a subversion where all the characters are punished for their virtues more than their flaws except Jimmy. Curly sees the best and people and tries to do right by all parties whether deserving or not. He is then forced to see everyone fall to their worst states while he can’t do anything. Daisuke is optimistic and hopeful, playful to a fault and a big morale. He dies in agony the one time he is forced to act in a serious event. Anya is kind and capable, knowledgeable in her field. Yet, she is treated like a dunce and does being treated like a dead weight.

The only characters who aren’t punished per se are those without direct virtues. Swansea is ornery and rude the moment we meet him, Jimmy is self explanatory. Yet, Swansea is still punished with Daisuke’s death, while Jimmy escapes in a way. Not having to face the final aftermath or even acknowledging how he could never really fix it. He suffers and is tormented, but he doesn’t really care because in his mind he didn’t fail in his head of proving something to Curly.

This is rambling y really but it really is the theme of no good deed but to the extreme. Good people punished for their attempts at virtue while the bad person victimizes themself over their suffering.

I don’t think we talk enough about how being love bombed can like really fuck you up??? Like yeah is it easy to identify from an outside perspective? Absolutely. But being in it and having someone devote that much time and attention to you (even if it is manipulative in nature) to then having it end abruptly when they’ve gotten what they wanted out of you… 🫠

I think my biggest takeaway from Tomura Shigaraki and being absolutely infatuated with him is the way he is constantly made the villain despite all the odds being against him; he had absolutely no choice in his identity. there are unfathomably depressing sides to his story but no one will ever see or accept that. being perceived in a certain light and not a single person ever wanting or even trying to hear you out or understanding why you feel that way? its so unbelievably devastating

The funny thing about playing botw and Totk is I don’t hate or scorn the Yiga at all. I actually think they’re so well within their rights to be super bitter and angry bc of what the king of Hyrule did to the Sheikah over 10k years ago. I need Kohga to know I am also anti monarchy and we should talk to Zelda about establishing a democracy or at least not giving absolute rule to the Hylian monarch. We should also let the yiga be members of society again and not continue to outcast them when they were actually again SO RIGHT to oppose the crown and refuse to be subdued and have their culture and technology destroyed
