A Gift of Art Therapy
A Gift of Art Therapy
Jane Lane opened the door to find her best friend's annoying sister, Quinn there. "What are you doing here?" she asked.
"Um, I need to use your phone," Quinn answered.
"What's wrong with your phone?" Jane asked.
"Nothing. Can I spend the night?"
"Are you kidding?"
"My mother says I can't stay home alone," Quinn added.
" I won't say a word. I'll even spring for the keg, but you have to pay for the dry cleaning," Jane quipped.
"It's too last-minute to throw a party."
"Then just talk on the phone all night," Jane said. "Ask your friends, if they could be a nail polish, what color they would be and why."
"I'm sick of that game."
You're afraid to go home," Jane realised.
"I am not!"
"Sorry, no vacancies."
"All right, I'm afraid!" Quinn admitted "There's mass serial puppy killers and stuff. Come on. Please?"
"I'm going to regret this," Jane said as she let Quinn in. "Never mind, I already do."
Quinn looked around as Jane lead her to the stairs. The house looked a little messy. She closed her eyes, not wanting to see more of it. She then climbed up the stairs carefully, keeping her hand on the side rail.
Jane turned around and saw Quinn come up to the top of the stairs. "Why are your eyes closed?"
"I have decided I don't need to see the mess to have company," Quinn answered as she stepped into the hallway and turned towards Jane's voice.
"I guess so," Jane said, not sure what to make of Quinn's decision. She took her hand and lead her to her room.
Quinn sat on Jane's bed, her eyes still closed. She thought about the situation.
Jane listened to Quinn talk about what various people at school did as she painted.
Soon, Trent entered the room. "Hey, Janie. You got any money?"
A red haired girl about Janie's age jumped a little. He noticed that her eyes were closed. "Who are you?"
"Quinn."
"You know, Daria's sister," Jane said.
"Oh, yes, Daria's sister."
"Excuse me, I have a name."
"Oh yes, Daria's sister. Why are your eyes closed?"
"I didn't want to see the mess and now I'm thinking about stuff." Quinn answered.
"I see," Trent responded. "Like you were deep in thought?"
"Something like that," Quinn answered.
"I see," he said. He turned to Jane.
"I have some. Enough for three pizzas," Jane said.
"Can I have cheeseless?" Quinn asked.
"Of course," Jane answered. She gave Trent the money.
"We can do something while we wait," Quinn said after she heard Trent's footsteps get quieter outside the room.
"What."
"Can I paint like this?"
"If you want to," Jane said with a chuckle. "I'll set up the canvas."
It didn't take Jane long. "It's ready."
Quinn took the brush and dipped it in the space where Jane said was blue, and so she started painting.
Jane watched as Quinn painted. First she covered the canvas in a calm blue.
'What's next?' Quinn thought when she was sure she had covered the canvas in the calm blue. 'Some green,' she thought, remembering that Jane said the green was next to the blue. She then painted the green in the middle. She then thought about earlier, when Sandi had pushed her from her home. 'What color would be for that?' She thought for a moment before choosing red.
Jane watched as Quinn painted red stripes aggressively. She was clearly venting her frustration at something. "What is this?" she asked.
"Sandi threw me out," Quinn explained. "And so did Tiffany," she added as she painted another red stripe.
"That's not good," Jane responded.
"No it isn't," Quinn said turning towards Jane, her eyes still closed. "But painting has been... helpful."
"That it is," Jane said, in a supportive tone. "it certainly helps me after a stressful day."
Quinn turned back to the painting and thought about what happened with Stacy. That Stacy did something creepy, that made her anxious and fearful. "Orange," she said.
"Something else happened didn't it?" Jane asked.
"I left Stacy's after she started copying me and wanted me to color her hair the same as mine," Quinn responded as she started adding the orange to the canvas as spots.
"That's not right. I'm sorry that happened, at all. But on top of what else happened."
"Yeah. That's why I came here. I couldn't be alone," Quinn said as a tear escaped one of her closed eyelids and she continued adding the orange splotches.
After a short while, Quinn calmed down and added yellow stripes, contrasting with the angry red ones. "Yellow for here, calm."
After the yellow stripes, she added some purple swirls for flair.
"Done," Quinn said with a smile, eyes still closed, as she turned to Jane.
Jane looked at the finished painting. She saw the raw emotions that Quinn had poured out. "You've been through a lot," she commented. "But I see this has been good for you."
Quinn nodded.
Trent re-entered Jane's room. "Pizza's are here," he said. He saw that Quinn had painted something, although her eyes were still closed.
"Cool," Jane said. She turned to Quinn. "You want to look at the painting?"
"I'll open my eyes when I'm ready to," Quinn responded. "But for now, let's eat and talk," she added with a slight giggle. She extended her hand in Jane's direction.
“Sure,” Jane said. She slowly lead Quinn down to the kitchen.
Quinn smelled the pizza’s as soon as she got off the stairs and Jane was leading her to through the loungeroom. “They smell good.”
“They certainly do.”
“Here is the Cheeseless, Quinn,” Jane said as she pushed that pizza in front of the other girl where she was seated.
“Thanks, Jane,” Quinn said with a smile.
“So, do a lot of painting?” Trent asked.
“Not much,” Quinn admitted. “Mostly with Ms. Defoe.”
“Of course,” Jane said. “Go on.”
“But I mostly draw when I do art. I thought I was doing it for Fashion, but maybe it’s more that I like designing things,” Quinn added.
“That’s great, Quinn,” Jane said. “It seems that creativity is a Morgendorffer trait.”
“I know Daria writes, but I don’t know about Mom and Dad.”
“You never know,” Trent said. “They might be hiding it.”
“That wouldn’t surprise me,” Quinn said with a giggle.
“So, where do you get your inspiration?” Quinn asked as she took another bite and savored the taste. It seemed that she was paying more attention to her tastebuds.
“There a lot of things that inspire my work,” Jane answered. “They’re too many to list. But some of them are what I read, what I see everyday in Lawndale, what Daria says and the absurdity of High School life.”
“That sounds interesting,” Quinn commented. “And you, Trent?”
“A lot things too,” Trent answered. “Emotions. Are lot of what I write for Mystik Spiral are about what I feel. Not only about myself and those around me, but also the world.”
“That sounds interesting,” Quinn said, as her closed eyelids twitched.
“But Spiral’s music is an acquired sound,” Jane said.
“What do you mean?” Quinn asked.
“We usually play grunge,” Trent answered.
“Oh. I haven’t heard much of that. I mostly like pop music, although some classical can be soothing.”
“I agree,” Trent said. “I know Spiral’s music isn’t for everybody.”
“That’s an understatement,” Jane said. Quinn knew she was leaning towards her from the sound of her voice.
She giggled. “I’d like to hear something though.”
“I can play something when we finish,” Trent suggested.
“Sure.”
They continued eating the pizzas and talking about inspirations and possibilities for Quinn’s designing. Her eyes still closed, Quinn helped clean up the boxes. Jane wondered when she would be ready to open them. ‘I shouldn’t worry.’
Trent got his guitar and played Icebox Woman.
“Was that an ex-girlfriend?” Quinn asked, when he had finished.
“More like, on again, off again girlfriend. We we’re off when I wrote it,” Trent answered. “You’re quite perceptive.”
“Thanks.”
“It’s still quite early, what do you say to a B movie? It’s something Daria and I do, sometimes.”
“She has told us about it. You can describe it too me.”
“Cool.”
Jane didn’t press Quinn about her eyes. She guessed that Quinn was enjoying the mystery as well as thinking about things. Back up in her room, she put in a movie she and Daria had watched recently. They then watched it, with Jane explaining what was happening and Quinn commenting on the dialogue and music, as well as both of them eating popcorn that Trent had found.
“It was interesting, but now I’m beat,” Quinn said over the end credit music.
“Well, it is after ten,” Jane said. “I’ll get the guest room ready.”
“Sure,” Quinn said. She listened to Jane leave into the hallway. ‘Hours with eyes closed. I know it isn’t the mess. Is it just what the Fashion Club did? Or something else? I’m not sure.’ But she knew she would figure it out. But the time spent with Jane and Trent had been very helpful, on top of the painting.
Jane returned to her room to see Quinn walking to the door with her hands out. “It has been a good night. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“They will get back into Lawndale from Grove Hills about 8:30,” Quinn said.
“Then I’ll try to be up by 7:30. I’m not a morning person. Trent even less so.”
“That’s OK.”
“Here is the guest room, the pjs are on the bed.”
“Thanks, goodnight.”
Quinn closed the door behind her, got changed and slipped into the bed. “I wonder what tomorrow will bring?” she thought as she slipped off to sleep.

part one
~~
“And then what?” Her voice was eager.
Aelin shrugged, her lips tilting up into a small smile as she gazed at the green eyes across from her. “Then he kissed me.” Being completely honest, Aelin could remember the kiss as if it was yesterday. Could still feel his hard body pressed against hers and the fading taste of alcohol on his lips.
“Bullshit,” a voice scoffed from behind her. Aelin whirled to face the matching turquoise eyes and she arched a brow, causing him to visibly swallow.
“Excuse you? As far as I recall, I don’t remember you being there.”
Her son shook his head, plopping down on the open area of the couch beside her and taking her feet into his lap. “I didn’t need to be,” he shrugged. “You and Dad tell the story often enough. Everyone knows that you-”
He was cut off as Eliora’s hand slapped over his mouth. “No spoiling, Sammy! I wanna hear the story!” Aelin laughed at her six-year-old and pulled her onto her lap, kissing her cheek as she did so. She gazed at Eliora for a moment; she truly was a beautiful child, even if Aelin was a little bias.
“That’s right, Eliora,” Aelin grinned at her daughter. “And what did we say about spoiling?”
“Don’t do it,” she replied definitively with a firm shake of her head. Aelin couldn’t help but squeeze Eliora a bit tighter as she opened her mouth to continue the story. Her mouth closed as another body entered the living room.
“What are we doing?” Nehemia asked, coming to sit by her twin on the couch. Shoulder to shoulder, Aelin’s eyes stared back at her. Sam rolled his eyes.
“Mama’s telling me a love story,” Eliora gushed to her sister, her green eyes alight with childlike excitement. “The greatest of all time!”
Nehemia gazed at Eliora with pure love, even as she leaned over to whisper something in her brother’s ear. Aelin was just able to hear, “Shes telling it again, huh?”
“I told you we should have gone to Aunt Lys’s house,” was her son’s muttered response. Nehemia snorted, leaning back over the couch until she was eye to eye with Eliora.
“Greatest of all time, huh? Must be a good one.” Her eyes twinkled with a mischievous glint Aelin could only credit to herself.
“It is,” Aelin finally cut in. “And if you would stop interrupting, I would be able to finish it.”
The sixteen year-olds rolled their eyes, gazing at one another in a silent language only they could understand. But Aelin didn’t need to hear their dialogue to understand that they had heard the story enough times. But Aelin couldn’t help it. She just loved telling it. Gazing at the sparkling emerald on her finger, Aelin didn’t think she would ever get sick of telling it.
“So, as I was saying.” She bounced Eliora playfully in her lap until she giggled. “He kissed me and-”
“Aelin Galathynius Whitethorn, you better not be telling my daughter that I kissed you at that party!” Aelin had been so absorbed in her kids that she had barely registered her hulking husband walking into the room. He stood at the door, arms crossed in front of his body as he glared at her, emerald eyes meeting turquoise in a clash of passion. Rowan was still in his work clothes, clearly having just arrived, and Aelin was really trying not to drool at how good he looked with his hair ruffled and his tie undone around his neck.
She threw up her hands with an exasperated sigh.
“Gods, what does a girl have to do to finish a story around here?”
The floor of their living room creaked as Rowan came to sit beside Aelin and Sam on the couch, his gaze never leaving hers. Rowan leaned forward, catching Aelin’s lips with his for a quick kiss before settling back down on the couch. Nehemia immediately rested her head on her father’s shoulder and was rewarded with a warm kiss to the top of her head.
Aelin gazed at them with fondness, love filling her heart. Until her husband’s gaze locked with her own once more, and Aelin smirked.
“You cannot keep telling people that,” Rowan shook his head before turning to their youngest, taking her from Aelin’s lap and shooting his wife an exasperated look. “Eliora, do you remember what Mama and I told you about lying?”
From across from her, Aelin watched Sam snort. He swallowed as his gaze met hers, smile dropping.
Eliora’s tiny eyebrows scrunched up at the top of her head, the look identical to one Aelin constantly saw on Rowan’s face. Finally, she shook her head, gazing up at her father. “It’s… wrong?”
“That’s right,” Rowan smiled down at her. “And we don’t do it. Even if Mama does.” He looked at the gape on his wife’s face before looking down at their daughter once more. “Especially if Mama does.” Aelin stuck her tongue out to her husband, who finally cracked a smile at her. This one sent warmth all the way down to her toes.
“Does this mean Mama can’t finish the story?” Eliora asked, her voice turning sad as she gazed between her family. Rowan laughed, bouncing her up and down before looking at the twins and back at Aelin, an unmistakable look of triumph in his eyes.
“Oh, no no no,” he replied, grinning. “Daddy’s here now. And I’m gonna tell you what really happened. I didn’t want to be at that party, to begin with...”
Aelin didn’t need him to, even if their kids did. She remembered everything about that night. Everything about the days and weeks following she didn’t think she would ever forget them until the day she died. It wasn’t every day you kissed the love of your life at a shitty fraternity rager.
~~
Rowan sat in the kitchen nursing his long since warmed beer. Shitty rap music blared through the speakers around him and it was then that he decided he was better off going back to his dorms before he did something he would regret.
It had been an hour since the kiss. An hour until he had finally gotten to understand what the hype of kissing Aelin Galathynius was. She was a lot of things- but a bad kisser wasn’t one of them. Rowan had sworn to every god imaginable he could handle a kiss with the infuriating blonde. It was just a kiss, right? Just a game.
But her lips had touched his and Rowan knew something was very very different. He hadn’t been able to get the smell of lemon and verbatim out of his senses for the past hour and it was unlikely that he would stop imagining the kiss any time soon.
But it was just a kiss. He didn’t like Aelin Galathynius.
She was annoying, and loud, obnoxious, and rude, and she lived to annoy him.
So why couldn’t he stop thinking of her? Even before the party, after their failed project, he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about those damn turquoise eyes.
It wasn’t that he hated everything about her. No- he had noticed the kind voice she would take when talking to Lysandra’s little sister. And he would be a fool not to notice the special smile that lit up her face when she would play with her dog or talk about literature. No, he didn’t hate her. But whatever he did feel was proving to be extremely problematic. Because there was no way she felt the same way.
Yes- it was definitely time to go home.
Making his way out from behind the kitchen counter, Rowan made to leave the kitchen just as the door went flying open. The sound of laughter rang through the door and Rowan stared at the exact person he was hoping to be done with for the night.
“Not likely, Moonbeam,” she was saying with a shake of her head, even though a spark glimmered in her blue eyes. Rowan had to consciously check himself from staring for too long as Aelin realized who was standing in front of her.
Her hand flew to her chest with wide eyes. “Jesus, Rowan, you scared me!”
Rowan thought it was the first time she had ever said his name. He quite liked the sound of it from her lips.
He was staring again. Full-blown staring at the woman in front of him as he contemplated what to say or do. He was coming up blank. Every thought in his mind seemed to be screaming at him at once. Some saying to run- to flee and never come into contact with her again, others saying to grab her and kiss her. All of them agreed she looked breathtaking in front of him. Like a golden angle.
“Ditto, Galathynius,” he managed out, earning a frown from Aelin. The action brought his gaze to her lips and he quickly looked away. Aelin seemed to have changed as well. Gone was the snarky woman who had spilled her beer all over him, replaced with a beautiful woman who he might’ve been friends with in another life.
“Hey, can we-”
“You know you may want to switch to a different conditioner,” he cut her off, saying the first thing he could think of to leave the conversation. “Your hair’s a little dry.”
Aelin gaped at him, her once lidded eyes turning cold and hard as she scoffed, shoving past him further into the kitchen. “Charming as ever, Whitethorn,” she sniped. “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
~~
Eliora clapped from her place on her father’s lap.
“It was true love’s kiss!” she cried, earning a laugh from her siblings and parents. It had definitely been something, that was for sure.
“I don’t know…” Aelin mused. “I thought true love’s kiss was reserved for princes, the bravest of them all.” Eliora frowned, as did the twins as their gazes switched to their father.
“I am brave!” Rowan squawked, eyes narrowing. “What are you talking about, Aelin?”
“Why, my dear husband,” Aelin placed her hand on her chest, pretending to be affronted. “It seems you’ve forgotten what happened afterward.” Realization dawned on Rowan’s face before retreating back into a frown. He seemed to hold Eliora tighter as he glared at his wife.
“I haven’t forgotten anything,” he muttered, voice low.
“Wait, wait, wait,” Sam interrupted his parents from his side of the couch. “What do you mean what happened afterward?” This was a part of the story that neither one of their teenagers had heard before. Whether they were too young to understand it, or it had never come up, the twins were now fully invested in the story.
“Yeah,” Nehemia joined in. “You guys got together after the kiss at the party. That was it, right?” At their parents’ silence, the twins looked at each other before bolting upright in their seats.
“Right?” they asked in unison.
Rowan sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose between two fingers. It seemed it was time for a sequel to their family tale.
~~
Rowan was sure there should be a ditch where his feet had paced through the grass in front of Aelin’s dorm. Cursing to whatever gods there were, Rowan forced his feet to stop moving. How was he supposed to apologize to Aelin if he couldn’t even stop pacing from the nervousness of just thinking about it?
It hadn’t taken long after Rowan had left the party for him to realize what an idiotic prick he had been. He had been tempted to drive over to her dorm right then and there and grovel for her forgiveness. But ultimately he had decided against it, choosing instead in favor of avoiding a hangover.
But he was sober now, and an apology was necessary. More than necessary.
He had apologized to people before. He had begged his professors for extensions and apologized after a falling out with an old friend. But he had never planned on asking out any of the people he had been apologizing to. Two days and Rowan had refused to talk about the kiss with anyone. To be honest, he had tried to forget about it himself.
But it seemed it was destined to never leave his mind for the rest of his existence. And as he played the kiss back in his mind, he couldn’t say he minded it. It had been a rude awakening to realize he may have had feelings for Aelin Galathynius. To go from loathing the girl in his chemistry class to suddenly picturing her face everywhere was a big change, and Rowan didn’t know what to do about it.
Rowan wasn’t stupid. Aelin Galathynius was a beautiful person. Gorgeous looks aside, the woman had a pure heart of fire and gold. Of course, he had noticed this in sullen silence, but that wasn’t the point. He could acknowledge her wicked intelligence and her need to fight for something that was important to her. And he knew that she loved unconditionally.
Whether he liked it or not, he had kissed Aelin back, and that had been all him.
He wanted to do it again.
“Fleetfoot, slow down! Hang on a second Lys- Fleetfoot, no!” Rowan whipped around as he heard Aelin’s voice come from behind him. Sure enough, the golden beauty walked along the sidewalk to her dorm, dog leash in hand.
She was dressed in a university sweatshirt and leggings that showed off the curve of her legs, so much so that Rowan was forced to look away. Her phone was between her ear and shoulder as she spoke with who Rowan assumed to be Lysandra. He held back a smile as the massive golden retriever yanked her along the road, apparently following a particularly interesting squirrel.
“I’m telling you, Lys,” she was saying as she came closer, clearly still not seeing him. “It’s not li-” Her feet came to a sudden stop and Rowan’s head snapped up to see her gaze was already on his, eyes wide. Aelin opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Rowan couldn’t find he had anything to say either. Her golden hair ran down her back and Rowan found himself fighting the urge to twirl a strand of it around his finger. She really was breathtaking.
“Lys, I’ll call you back,” she said, eyes not leaving his as she took the phone from her shoulder and ended the call. “Rowan? What are you doing here?”
It was his turn to struggle for words. How would he even bring it up? A week ago the two were on nothing more than insulting terms. She had infuriated him- had tried every nerve in his body and every bit of anger he had. But now…
Aelin’s brows were raised in anticipation. Are you going to answer?
Rowan coughed, finally thrown out of his reverie. Who was he kidding? Aelin didn’t want to go on a date with him? Aelin didn’t want to go anywhere with him. And he couldn’t blame her. Rowan had been nothing but a prick to her since the moment they had met, and it was truly coming back to bite him in the ass.
“Uh, Aedion told me he left something in Lys’s room.” The lie rolled off of his tongue easily enough, yet he hoped Aelin would be able to see through it. It seemed that she didn’t.
“Oh,” she said, understanding and almost shame clouding her words. “Right. What is it? Do you wanna come inside to find it?” Aelin’s dog sat obediently at her heels, looking between the two college kids in silent wonder.
Yeah, dude, Rowan wanted to say. I don’ know what’s happening either.
“No,” he shook his head. “It’s Aedion’s problem. I just thought I could find it before class started but I think it’s too late. He’ll come around later for it.”
“Right,” Aelin said doubtfully, crossing her arms in front of her body and looking at him.
“Right,” Rowan repeated back to her, causing Aelin to raise another brow. He wanted to push it back down. “Well, I’m gonna go- get to… class. So- bye Aelin.” He was gone before she could say anything else, giving her his back and practically sprinting back toward his side of campus.
Rowan Whitethorn was an idiot. He knew it. But one look from Aelin and the cold fear that had rushed through his body had him wanting to curl up into a ball and never speak to her again. But he had to. Rowan would have to talk to her again if he was going to find out who was truly behind those stunning blue eyes.
But even at the thought of speaking to her again-
~~
“Hold on, hold on, I know where this is going,” Nehemia interrupted her father before he could continue his sentence. “You avoided her didn’t you?” As Rowan’s cheeks flamed, Sam sat upright in his seat, a shit-eating grin on his face.
“No way. You avoided her?” Aelin cackled as Rowan grumbled something under his breath, earning herself another glare. Nonetheless, Aelin tucked herself under her husband’s arm, reaching up to plant a kiss on his cheek. He seemed to soften at the touch, green eyes meeting hers in a look so full of love Aelin thought she might explode.
“Well, what is it, old man?” Sam prompted. Rowan scowled at his son and daughter, both of who looked ready to pass out from restrained laughter.
“Only for a couple of weeks,” he muttered lowly.
“A COUPLE OF WEEKS?” Sam exploded, his laughter finally ringing out through the house as he fell back into the couch, holding his stomach. Nehemia glared at her brother and poked him in the stomach. It didn’t seem to matter as Sam sat up, still grinning. “And you call me a coward for not asking Asterin Havilliard out.”
“You are a coward for not asking Asterin Havilliard out,” Rowan shook his head, running a hand down his face. Nehemia nodded, offering her father a high five which he quickly returned. She was such a daddy’s girl.
“It’s true honey,” Aelin cut in, even as her son glared at her. “Dorian knows she likes you.”
“The world knows she likes him,” Nehemia said, exasperated. “Now get back to the story. Mom,” she turned to Aelin. “Did you know Dad was lying about having places to be?”
Aelin snorted, running her hand through the hair at the nape of Rowan’s neck which seemed to be even redder than it had been moments before. “Of course I did. His excuse was that he had to go to class. It was Sunday.”
It was Nehemia’s turn to crackle now and Rowan looked downright offended. It wasn’t often that his oldest daughter wasn’t on his side. Aelin leaned into Rowan’s shoulder, delight running through her body as he placed a chaste kiss on her temple.
“You’ll pay for this,” he mumbled into her hair.
Her eyes said it all. I’m looking forward to it, Buzzard.
“What happened? What happened?” Eliora’s voice dragged Aelin back to the present. She was sure her youngest had no idea what was going on at this point in the story, but Rowan continued nonetheless.
~~
It was three weeks before he saw her again. Three weeks of avoided group hangouts and staying in his dorm room during parties. Three weeks of taking a longer route than normal to all of his classes, and three weeks of wishing he could speak to the girl he couldn’t get out of his head.
Rowan was sitting at a picnic table in the middle of one of the university quads, textbook open and highlighter in hand. He hadn’t actually understood any bit of what he had read, but at least it looked like he was doing something. And it seemed to be working pretty well for his other problem.
“Fleetfoot, get back here!” Or not.
Rowan tried not to draw attention to himself as Aelin ran past his table, after the massive bundle of golden fur that was running away from her. He watched as she chased her dog around the quad, finally giving up as she layed on the ground, arms splayed wide. It wasn’t long before Fleetfoot was back and licking her face.
He felt Aelin’s laugh all the way to his heart.
~~
“Ten bucks says he grows a pair and asks her out.” Sam had long since abandoned his spot on the couch in favor of sitting on the ground to watch his father intently as he told the story. He had muttered the words to his sister, whose feet were right by his head. She too was looking at her father intently.
“Twenty says he keeps ignoring her until happenstance pushes them together.”
Rowan rolled his eyes at his children, even though the spark in his green eyes showed he was more than amused. “Your mother was right. It is impossible to finish a story in this house.”
“Gods,” Sam said, shaking his head. “I can’t believe my dad was such a pus-”
“Let’s see how fast I can ground you,” Rowan cut him off with a stern look to the child in his arms who seemed to be on the verge of sleep. Sam smiled sheepishly.
“My bad.”
“Will you shut up so he can finish the story?” Nehemia glared at her brother.
~~
“Alright,” Aedion slammed his hand down on Rowan’s helmet, sending a large clattering sound through his head. Rowan scowled at his best friend, shoving him away. “What the fuck is going on between you and my cousin?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Rowan turned back to his bag, shrugging off his helmet and shoving it into the massive pack before taking a sip of his water bottle, all while ignoring Aedion and those eyes that reminded him so much of the ones he truly wanted to see.
“Don’t bullshit me, Rowan,” Aedion snapped at him, forcing Rowan to face him. “The two of you have been skirting around each other for the past three weeks and Aelin won’t even come to parties with us anymore so what. Happened.”
Rowan stopped. Aelin hadn’t been going to parties? Had she been avoiding him as much as he had been avoiding her? He looked at his best friend and shrugged.
“We kissed. During spin the bottle.”
Aedion looked at him for what seemed like minutes before bursting into uncanny laughter.
“Damn,” he wheezed out. “That’s it? Well, it’s about time.”
“Excuse me?” Rowan growled, and Aedion stopped laughing.
“You know what I mean, man. It’s about time. All those years when you two would look at each other and glance away before the other noticed. Or when you defend each other when the
other isn’t there- yep, don’t think I didn’t notice that. I think we can all agree that it’s about time.”
Rowan shook his head, incredulous. Other people had noticed that?
“No, Aedion,” he sighed. “Aelin hates me. She wants nothing to do with me.” Aedion stared at him again before, shaking his head.
“Ro, man, you are such an idiot sometimes.”
“You know, Aedion. Saying cryptic shit and expecting other people to understand you doesn’t help anyone,” Rowan snapped, his patience thinning. Turning back to Aedion, he found his eyes glued on something behind him.
Rowan’s heart stopped. There was no way.
But sure enough, Rowan turned around to meet the gaze of a gaping Aelin Galathynius. She held a tennis ball in one hand and Fleetfoot circled the ground at her feet. Clearly, the dog had chased the ball into their field and her owner had eventually followed. At the worst timing imaginable.
“Aelin-” Rowan started, but she was already gone, whirling around and sprinting out of the stadium, the golden retriever at her heels. He didn’t think before following after her. “Aelin, wait!” he called after her, forcing his legs to go faster.
It turned out that Aelin Galathynius was quite fast when she wanted to be, and Rowan only caught up to her when she was standing in front of her dorm building. She didn’t need to turn around for Rowan to know she was fuming.
“Gods, what do you want, Rowan?” she glared at him, her voice ice. “Haven’t you already proven your point?” Rowan wanted to grab her and shake her.
“Proven my- what? Aelin I-”
“Look you made yourself very clear at the party, alright?” she snapped, turning away from him. But Rowan’s arm shot out, catching hers before she could leave and forcing her to look at him. “I get that Aedion can be nosy at times but you were so out of line, Whitethorn.”
The confused look on his face must have been painfully obvious. Aelin rolled her eyes. “Look, if it was just an act to shut Aedion up, I-”
Rowan kissed her.
This woman. This annoying, infuriating, intelligent, beautiful woman. She was absolutely astounding. And she thought he somehow hadn’t noticed that.
Rowan wanted to remember the feeling of her lips on his for the rest of his life. Wanted to bottle the sound of the small gasp she released before melting into the kiss. He wanted to mold their bodies together until there was no room left. Rowan wanted to feel her soft hair between his fingers and the feeling of her hands in his hair until the day he died. He never wanted to let her go.
This time when the two pulled back, Rowan kept her close to his body with an arm around her waist. Her arms were still around his neck and Aelin gazed at him through wide eyes. Before she could say anything, Rowan kissed her again, this time lingering. She kissed his smile with her own.
“It was never an act.”
~~
“Well it seems to me that Fleetfoot is the true heroine of the story,” Nehemia grinned, petting the head of her own puppy that sat at her feet next to Sam. “Without her, you two would never have met again. Oh, and I won, by the way Sammy. Pay up.”
“That’s my girl,” Rowan grinned, pride shone over his face at his daughter’s antics regardless of her win being at his expense. Sam practically growled as he handed his sister a twenty-dollar bill.
“Oh, don’t be sad, Sammy,” Aelin comforted her son, holding her arms out until he rolled his eyes and walked over to give her a hug. “Ask out Asterin and your kids won’t do the same thing to you,” she whispered, earning a dark red blush on her son’s cheeks.
She shared a knowing look with Rowan, unable to resist reaching up and kissing his lips once more. Rowan returned it in kind, grinning when she nipped playfully at his bottom lip.
“Boo!” Nehemia called from her spot on the couch as Sam yelled, “Get a room!”
Aelin turned to Rowan once more, unsurprised to see his gaze already on her. “Remind me why we keep them?” Rowan’s laugh rang out loud as he pulled Aelin close to his body. Her head landed on his shoulder and she sighed in content.
“Because we’re cute,” Nehemia supplied. “At least, one of us is.” She gazed at her little sister who had long since fallen asleep on her father’s lap.
It seemed that their entire reason for telling the story had fallen asleep long before her father had finished telling it. There was no doubt that Eliora wouldn’t remember any bit of the story when she woke up.
“She’s too young to understand the story yet,” Nehemia said, brushing back a piece of her little sister’s hair with astounding gentleness.
“So what do we tell her when she’s old enough?” Aelin asked, cherishing the kiss that Rowan placed on her head and unable to contain the insurmountable love in her heart as her kids responded.
“Oh, Mom’s version, for sure. It’s way better.”

Part two of Zoyalai kid as promised
Here’s part one- https://dablackdahlia.tumblr.com/post/650586205772201984/the-black-dahlia
Massive row spoilers
Prince Mycanae Juris Nazyalensky( My Kuh Nay Uh) was turning one years old
It was suprising how quickly he grew up
To Nikolai at least
For Zoya, who adored her son couldn’t wait for him to get older
For one thing while the baby didn’t cry to much at night (whitch was a blessing from the saints)
He couldn’t be Grisha tested
Most ravkans were tested around the age of seven though it varies
Myca was far to young
It was decided when he turned four he would be tested
And so the country was forced to wait four long years
Three more years to go Zoya thought to herself
Myca was an easy baby
That was what his doctors said
He barely if ever cried in the night and was sociable enough
Unlike Genya and David’s son Forrest Kostyk who from all of Zoyas interactions and everything Genya and David mentioned he was a nightmare
Constantly screaming
Hates to eat everything
And now that His teeth were a big enough size he started biting
She had gotten lucky
But Nikolai and her started talking about having more kids
And Zoya found she wanted more aswell
Nikolais pitch however would be far to amusing for her to not listen to
“Come on Zoya only children are the freaks in the playground!” Nikolai said gesturing incredulously
They just gotten Myca put to bed and were having much needed glasses of wine
He needed his rest for his birthday tomorrow
Even though they could’ve had many nannies take care of him that night, neither of them wanted that
Nikolai grew up like that and he wasn’t as close to his mother because of it.
Not to mention the old king was scarce most of his early upbringing
Zoya didn’t want that for Myca either
Of course with all of there duties they had to get some help but they always, always, made sure they put him to bed in the room across from there’s
“Nikolai I’m an only child” zoya retorted
“Touché, but what if something were to happen that Myca couldn’t become king? We would need another option!” Nikolai threw back
Nikolai having another realization
“Plus, it would’ve really helped me growing up to have a good sibling”
This was something Zoya thought about aswell
As a girl she wished for a baby sister
And so did her mother
Sabina had four miscarriages
The last one was the worst
She was safely in the third trimester when it happened
Sabina was distraught for weeks
And when she finally came to, she was different
Harder
Sadder
Meaner
And a couple years later marching Zoya down an aisle
“You know I’m already convinced Nikolai right?” Zoya laughed tired of this charade
Before Myca was born Zoya thought she’d have one
One child
One heir
But she had changed her mind and wanted more
Nikolai showed her a dazzling smile “perfect” he said with a kiss
Zoyas second pregnancy was different
Her morning sickness wasn’t as bad as her first
But a new thing has arrived
cravings
She was consuming unhealthy amounts of Ravkan chocolates
But nonetheless the baby’s due date was July eighth
The date came and passed
But it was nothing to be worried about
There was a lot of moments where they were like “this Is it, the babies coming” then nope
Zoya was 43 weeks pregnant
The baby would be post term
Nikolai would say this is a sign that this child was going to Be late for everything
A difference when Myca was born on the exact due date
But in the middle of the night July twenty second Zoya went into Labor
There second child was Prince Nazariy (Nah-Zuh-ree) Dominik Nazyalensky
He had Brown skin almost darker then Zoya’s and black hair
But it was his eyes that captivated people
He had sectoral heterochromia
His Blue eyes like his Mothers had parts of brown (example below)
Tumblr media
They decided on his middle name after Nikolais friend Dominick after some rigorous debate
Zoya wanted to continue with Saint middle names
Nikolai argued Juris was a personal friend
In the end with Nikolais charisma he won
His name Nazariy was actually found in a simple baby book
While Mycanae was in old ravkan and they liked the nickname Myca
They were much more lax with there second son
They eventually decided to have four kids but wanted to wait until Myca would get tested before having there next two children
Time skip three years because your girl can’t detail everything
Myca was four years old and today was the day
He was dressed in his best clothes
What would happen is he would go up in front of the entirety of the Ravkan nobility and other ambassadors and such and would get tested
Zoyas power still couldn’t sense anything in him or Nazariy, but a couple months prior Forrest Kostyk was revealed to be an Alkemi
It seemed that when the grisha first used there ability it activates something and typically Zoya could sense it
Because now Zoya could see Forrest as an Alkemi easily
So while she couldn’t sense anything in her sons that didn’t mean there was nothing there
Zoya and Nikolai had finally gotten most of the details finished and it was them, Nazariy and Myca, and the triumvirate working out some details in the meeting room
Well, Nazariy was pretending he was a squaller by blowing on some paper
And Myca was clearly trying to convince him that wasn’t how it worked
It seemed Myca hadn’t quite grasped his two year old little brother couldn’t care less about what he thought
A fact that would never change over the years
“I don’t understand why we don’t just test him right here right now?” Adrik insisted for the ninth time “less risk”
“And then what if he turns out to be Grisha but presented before the nobility nothing happens? The grisha test only works when they just start out” Tamar responded
“It could still work in front of the nobility” Adrik insisted
“And if all else fails we can just tell him to summon a gust” Tolya added
Tolya was fiercely protective of the boys
It probably started when a couple months ago Myca showed a vague interest in his favorite Poet and the friendship bloomed
“Tolya most summoners can’t summon until days of practice” Leoni interjected “Plus, we’ve made plans on all outcomes and it’s to late to change them now, look on the bright si-”
“Nazariy spit that out!” Zoya interupted
Apparently the little hellhound put one of David’s nails in his mouth
Nazariy, learning his mother wasn’t to be trifled with quickly on, spit it out
Back to the conversation they started on a topic healthy debated
“There’s no way the kid is Grisha!” Adrik started on
“But Adrik he hasn’t gotten sick. And Grisha dont get sick to!” Leoni countered
This back and forth started since Zoya announced her pregnancy
It was a headache really
But when she turned towards the three boys who had come to mean the world to her it was all worth it
Nikolai was with the boys and was apparently taking on Nazariy’s side claiming him blowing on the paper was just as credible as Mommy’s lightning
Myca fought back and claimed any otkaxatsya could do that
It was something happening more often
Myca makes an offhand statement and Nikolai fighting the other side
It was adorable really how Mycas eyes would light up and debate with his father
Plus it would make him think more critically and would make a good king out of him
Not to mention how it really helped Nikolai and him bond
Nikolai and him had some trouble sometimes
Myca doesn’t usually respond to jokes
It seemed after his silly and rambunctious troublemaker of a brother was born he decided he would have to be serious enough for the both of them
Or at least as serious as a four year old could be
But rigourous debate on whether or not green looked good on Nazariy was something they both seemed to enjoy
And as much as Zoya wished she could watch forever it was time
Time to see if her baby boy had certain talents
Myca was scared
He was behind the door waiting to be presented before his mother, father, brother, who would all be seated on the thrones, and of course the rest of the nobility
‘People like you Myca!’ Nikolai would insist ‘there’s nothing to worry about no matter what happens!’
Myca thought he was trying to alleviate the pressure but it wasn’t working
Suddenly his que to come In was called and he walked in
Head held high and posture immaculate he waltzed through the door
The person who was testing him was the Baron of Banewood
An old man who hated nonsense, children, and Prince Nazariy since he was both of those things
He came forward and after some very boring speeches that Myca couldn’t bring himself to listen to until the Baron told him to stick out his hand
Myca complied and the baron produced a very big pin
Guess everyone wanted to be really sure he was Grisha or not
His eyes wandered to his family
Theyre faces looked calculatingly impassive
He knew it was a front
They needed to seem stable for the people
Nazariy who was standing next to the throne was having difficulties standing still
Myca felt bad for him
Half of being royalty is sitting still looking pretty
He trained his eyes back on his parents and saw his father give him a small wink
I got this, I’m prepared for the result, I can do this
As the pin was stabbed into his skin Myca felt it
That calling
That thing begging to come out whenever he saw his Mother doing something grand
Or when he really wanted his brother to leave him alone
And Myca let it overcome him
When he opened his eyes he could see the Baron knocked over and a small breeze
A firm hand clamped his shoulder
“Congratulations Mycanae” Tolya started dragging him away from the scene where the nobility were discussing the scene “Your a Squaller”
Hey so part two of the Zoyalai kid as promised. This was originally gonna be longer but then It became a 230 word monster and i cut it down and will save the rest for part three
35 likes and I’ll make part three

Revelations - Chapter 1: Wolf Moon
Teen Wolf x SPN AU crossover
Word Count: 9745
A/N: Totally occurred to me that I wrote the teaser like they're in summer but its actually like winter in Beacon Hills so ignore that totally time confusion.
The Smith family just wanted normal, yet the new semester is bringing a new student, secrets in the woods, and secrets even in their own home?

“Guy’s your going to be-” Dean started to call from the kitchen but Mick ran in dragging his twin sister behind him with one hand his other hand gripped around his lacrosse stick. “Morning pops!” Mick calls as he awkwardly holds the lacrosse stick while still tossing Stevie the keys to her 93 Subaru Loyale. “Bye pops!” Mick waves the hand that he has holding onto Stevie so in a way both of them were waving to their father. Dean just shook his head as the twins exited the house.
“Okay. Slow your roll bro-tater. What’s going on with you this morning? Did you drink the rest of dad’s coffee or something?” Stevie questioned pulling her arm out of her brother’s grasp. “You missed out on something last night and you have to know. Like now. It could be life or death for our dear Scott.” Mick was slightly exaggerating, sure but that’s just how he could get when he was excited. The twins put their things in the back seat and got in.
As Stevie drove the two to the school her brother told her what he had gone through the night before. The blonde teen girl parked her car and shut it off. Her mind was wheeling as it processed what she just heard. “Okay let me get this straight. Stiles climbed into my bedroom where you were playing video games on my tv, which by the way ask next time! Then he dragged you and Scott out into the woods of the preserve to look for half of a dead body?! Which given its Stiles, I would do it too but.. His dad showed up and he just left you two there? In the freaking woods where a dead body was found?! What if you got hurt??” Stevie started to repeat what she heard, getting nods of confirmation from her twin.
“Scott did get hurt, Stevie. A wol-”
“Not possible.” She shook her head and got out of the car as she saw Scott ride past on his bike. By the time the twins reached the bike rack Stiles was already standing next to his best friend. “Okay let’s see this thing,” they both heard Stiles say as they stopped next to him. Scott let out a grunt as he lifted his shirt up enough to reveal the bandaged area on his abdominal. There was a brownish-red spot from where the blood had tried bleeding through. Stiles reached his hand out like he was about to touch it but Stevie slapped his hand away.
“Mick fill you in?” Scott asked, letting his shirt fall back down so he could pick up his backpack. Stevie nods her head, shoving her hands into her pockets. “Kinda upset that I missed the excitement.”
“Well it was pretty dark but I think we agreed that it was a wolf.” Scott looked between Stiles and Stevie. Stevie shakes her head, “Just like I told Mick, not possible.” Stiles snapped his fingers pointing at the girl and nodded in agreement. “But we heard a wolf howling.” Mick points out as he and his sister split to walk into school with Scott and Stiles in the middle, Mick on Scott’s side. “No you didn’t.” Stiles disagreed with the other two.
“What do you mean, no I didn’t? How do you know what Mick or I heard?” Scott asked not understanding why Stiles and Stevie didn’t believe them. Stevie sighed softly pushing her wavy blond hair out of her face. “Look guys, California hasn’t had wolves in like 60 years, right Stiles?”
“Yeah exactly. So there are no wolves for you to hear.” Stiles points as he turns to stand in front of the other two Stevie just a foot ahead of them, looking over her shoulder at the three males. “All right, well, if you don’t believe us about the wolf then you definitely won’t believe me when I tell you I found the body.” Scott almost looked proud that he found the dead body. Stevie’s eyes met her twin brother’s and Mick almost looked sick as he nodded at her. Stevie stepped close as the four huddled together. “You.. are you kidding me?” Stiles inquired in disbelief and excitement.
“I wish he were. I think we’re going to have nightmares from seeing it.” Mick told Stiles, glancing at Scott to see if they were on the same page. Stiles looked at Stevie whose blue-green eyes were shining with curiosity. “Oh, god, that is freakin’ awesome. That has got to be the best thing that’s happened to this town since...” Stiles lifted up onto his toes to clearly see over the blonde next to him at the strawberry blonde walking by, “since the birth of Lydia Martin.” Stiles fumbled as he tried to turn but bumped into his friend, knocking her into Scott’s side. “Hey, Lydia.. You look.. like you’re going to ignore me.”
Scott helped steady Stevie at his side while watching Stiles attempt and fail to talk to Lydia for the nth time. “You know what. I’m going to get to my locker and make sure it’s not surrounded by idiots.” Stevie tells them although she’s pretty sure Stiles didn’t hear a thing. “Want me to come?” Mick offered but Stevie just shook her head with a smile and hurried into the school.
Stevie moved through the halls towards her locker for the year, or what was supposed to be her locker. Stopping nearly 500 feet away from her locker she noticed who was either side of her and let out a groan. On one side was Jackson Whittemore, someone who Stevie just could not stand due to his ego. Then on the other was Matt Daehler, her middle school boyfriend who thought she was cheating on him with Stiles. Stevie turned around and nearly ran right into Lydia Martin in her haste.
“Stephanie Smith,” Lydia greeted, eyes scanning over the outfit Stevie wore-- black ripped tights, black combat boots, a black skirt and tank top, and an oversized green flannel (it was technically Stiles’ shirt). “Hmm, you know if you lost the flannel and wore a nice scarf you might actually look nice today.” Lydia states flipping her hair over her shoulder before walking away. Stevie was baffled at the backwards compliment from Lydia as she slowly walked towards class now out of time to stuff her things in one of the guy’s lockers.
Stevie slid into the seat next to Scott in front of Stiles, since her brother was already behind Stiles, Michael always sat in the back corner of whatever class he was in and usually the farthest from the door (a habit he got from Dean). Michael leaned over towards his twin confused by her confused face. “What’s up with you? Didn’t you go to your locker?” Stevie turned to her brother, face now back to normal. “Huh? Oh right uh. I’m sharing my locker with you this year. Get this, Lydia-” Stevie was cut off by the bell and then the teacher who was writing on the black board started to talk right away.
“As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night,” Scott looked over his shoulder towards Stiles who gave him a dramatic wink, “and I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios as to what happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody,” three of his friends turned to Stiles who looked just as stunned and confused at the teacher as they all did. “Which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk outlining the semester, Ms. Smith please turn all the way around.” Stevie rolled her eyes and turned back around.
Next to Stevie, who never looked over the syllabus until she got home, Scott was looking around for something. His searching stopped as he looked out the window and his eyes seemed locked onto something as his head turned. “Gimme your pen.” Scott whispered, holding his hand out to Stevie knowing she had more in her bag. “What?” The girl asked her friend, confused. “Just give me it.” Scott’s fingers wiggled as he waited for her to hand it over which she did moments before the classroom door opened. The principal entered with a girl the same height as him who could pass as a live action Snow White.
“Class, this is our new student, Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome.” Allison gave the class a tight lip awkward smile before walking back towards the only open seat behind Scott. Scott turned in his seat holding out the pen he just got from Stevie to Allison. Next to them the Smith twins and Stiles are exchanging glances at each other. It was then that the teacher began his lesson.
🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾
When the bell finally rang dismissing everyone from the last class Stevie followed her twin to his locker, which was next to Scott’s. The dark haired teen was looking down the hall at the new girl, she caught him looking and smiled at him. Stevie waited for her brother to open his locker, leaning her chin awkwardly on Scott’s shoulder. “Hmm Lydia is already snatching her up.” The blonde’s mumble nearly pulled Scott’s eyes off the girl. The teen leaning on his shoulder moved, turning to her brother. “Lydia Martin talked to me earlier. Like actually kind of gave me a compliment.” Stiles popped up like the mention of Lydia summoned him.
“What about Lydia?” Stiles inquired looking between three of his friends. Mick shrugs his shoulders with a sigh looking over at Lydia along with the other three. “I just want to know how the new girl is here all of five minutes and she’s already hanging out with Lydia’s clique?” Stiles' response of “Because she’s hot” made the only girl in the group roll her eyes. Seeing the annoyed expression on his female best friend’s face Stiles quickly stumbled over his words to correct himself slightly. “Well, what I mean is.. I mean beautiful people herd together.” The female Smith twin crossed her arms over her chest and stared at Stiles. “What are you saying I’m not beautiful Stiles?” Stevie scoffed. The buzzed head boy opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water.
“Stephanie!” The blonde turned her head down the hall towards the strawberry blonde that just called her name. “Go. Get over there.” Mick lightly pushed his sister towards the popular girl while leaning as casually as he could next to his other two friends. Stevie stumbled over her feet from the push but quickly caught herself and moved over towards Lydia, Jackson, and Allison. “Hi,” Stevie smiles at Allison before turning her head towards Lydia pointedly ignoring Jackson.
“So this weekend there’s this party,” Lydia starts looking at both Stevie and Allison. As soon as she heard the word ‘party’ Stevie wanted to run. “A party?” Allison looked at the couple then over at Stevie who gave a clueless look towards the girl next to her. “Yeah. Friday night. You two should come.” Jackson's suggestion made Stevie school her reaction from letting her jaw drop in amazement at the direct invite. “Uh, I can’t. It’s family night this Friday. Thanks for asking.” Allison excused herself. “Are you sure? Everyone is going after the scrimmage.” Jackson double checked.
Stevie glanced over towards her brother and friends, the only one looking towards her still was Scott. Stiles and Mick seemed to be in a very intense conversation over something, or someone. The blonde girl looked over at Allison. “You mean like football?” Allison clearly was new to the school and Stevie opened her mouth to politely correct her but Jackson beat her to it. “Football’s a joke in Beacon. The sport here is lacrosse.”
“The team has won the state championship for the last three years.” Stevie told Allison before Jackson got the chance to brag about it. Lydia reached up to fix Jackson’s hair as she proudly commented, “Because of a certain team captain.” Allison looked at Stevie almost as if asking if Lydia was being serious, given that Jackson wasn’t even playing for one of those years. Stevie tilts her head with a smile that Allison returned. “Well, we have practice in a few minutes. That is if you don’t have anywhere else--” Jackson was cut off from inviting Allison to watch their practice by Allison herself, “Well, I was going to--” Allison was then cut off by Lydia. “Perfect, you’re coming. Even Stephanie here is going to be there.” Jackson turned leading the way as Lydia grabbed both Allison and Stevie’s hands to make sure they went with. Stevie and Allison turned their heads nearly insync to look over towards Scott.
🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾
Stiles jogged to keep up with Scott as Mick followed them. All three of them were in their lacrosse gear prepared for practice. “Wait, if you’re going to play, who am I going to talk to on the bench?” Stiles pants looking at Scott who was serious about playing this year. Scott looks over his shoulder at Mick who waved at Stiles nonverbally saying ‘uh me?’. “Look, I don’t want to sit on the sidelines anymore. This is the season I make first line.” Scott tells the two friends as Mick looks to the stands spotting his twin arriving with Lydia and Allison. She had left her jacket at home like usual so she was hugging her arms around herself. Mick sat his stuff down and lifted his hoodie pointing at it when Stevie looked at her twin. She shook her head turning down his offer of taking the hoodie as she turned back towards Allison who was smiling at Scott.
Stevie leaned over towards Allison who was in between her and Lydia, her voice soft as she whispered to the dark haired girl, “Just so you know, coach is a bit.. Eccentric. He can also sometimes be harsh but he’s good.” Allison gave a small nod. We watched as Scott took a different stick and put his helmet on before moving towards the goal post. Allison’s eyes never left him even as she asked Lydia, “Who is that?” Lydia pressed her lips together before looking at Scott, “Him? I’m not sure who he is. Why?” Scott turned towards the girls in the stand, his head tilting to the side like a puppy with his ears perking up. “He’s in my English class.” Allison shook her head as if it was no big deal. Stevie smiled at how smitten Allison and Scott seemed towards each other as she leaned forward placing her elbows on her knees and resting her head on her hands. “That ladies is Scott McCall, sophomore. He’s one of my best friends, although he is a bit closer to my twin.”
The assistant coach blew his whistle and McCall clutched at the helmet on his head like he was trying to cover his ears from the pain. Stevie’s eyebrows furrowed at the action. Due to the distraction Scott received a ball to his face making Allison and Stevie wince. Coach and other players laughed. “Hey, way to catch with your face, McCall!” One of the players called. Stiles dropped his head in a groan when Scott looked at the benches while Mick gave him a supportive thumbs up.
Scott stood back up physically shaking off the first fail. The second ball was thrown and Scott almost seemed shocked to see the ball in the net of his goalie stick. In fact most of the team looked shocked. Stiles was repeatedly slapping at Mick’s shoulder pad next to him. By the third block Stiles was cheering from the bench cheering. Stevie’s eyes drifted from Scott, who was killing it blocking, to the goofy guy ruffling her brother’s hair. Her attention did turn back to Scott until she heard Allison comment on how good he was. “Yeah, very good.” Lydia agreed. Stevie smiled, “He’s been practicing all summer with my brother from what I heard.”
Jackson moved up the line cutting in front. The moment was so intense that if it was filmed it would be in slow motion. The way Jackson ran forward, bringing back his stick to launch the ball towards the goal. The captain leaped into the air as he swung the stick forward sending the ball flying towards the net. Scott swiftly twisted at the waist bringing his stick up to block the ball from hitting the net. Stiles and Mick jumped up from the bench cheering for their friend. Both teens were shouting “That’s my friend!” Lydia stood from her seat cheering, making Jackson turn to face his girlfriend with a jealous gleam in his eyes.
🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾
The girls sat together until practice was over before going their separate ways. Stevie headed towards her car to wait for her brother and the other two troublemakers. After practice the four headed over to the preserve to look for Scott’s inhaler that he dropped. Stiles and Mick held a hand out for Stevie to hold onto as she balanced on a fallen over tree to cross the small creek that the boys basically just walked through or easily stepped over.
“I don’t know what it was. It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball.” Scott was talking about practice. That’s not the only weird thing either. I can.. hear stuff I shouldn’t be able to hear.” McCall ducked under a branch, Stiles who walked around it looked back to make sure Stevie was okay but she had taken the easy way out and hopped onto her brother’s back. “Smell things.” Scott added making Stiles look back at his best friend. “Smell things?” Like what?” The Stilinski boy looked amused by what he was hearing. Yet Scott was serious as he took a moment smelling the air before looking back at the three teens behind him. “Like the mint mojito gum in your pocket. Or Stevie’s coconut shampoo.” Stiles instantly searched his pocket to prove him wrong, “I don’t even have any mint mojito--” Stiles stopped talking a half piece of gum from his pocket. Mick looked up at his sister. “I thought you were using a green apple shampoo?” Stevie shook her head, “Changed it up when I was in South Dakota.”
Scott turned and began to walk again with the others following. “So all this started with a bite?” Stiles was looking for clarification so he could piece it all together. “What if it’s like an infection, like my body’s flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something?” Scott worried looking back at his friends every once in a while. Stiles glanced back at Stevie and Mick who were behind him. “You know what? I actually think I’ve heard of this,” Stevie knew that tone Stiles was using and she smiled tapping her brother’s shoulder to get down so she could move to Stiles’ side, “ It’s a specific kind of infection.” Scott looked back at Stiles, his eyes wide with worry. “Are you serious?” Stevie nods her head solemnly. “Sadly, yes. I know the infection he’s talking about.” She joined in, “What’s it called again?” Stiles looked at the girl next to him then to Scott, “I think it's called lycanthropy.”
Stevie snapped her fingers and turned to Scott, “That’s the one.”
“What is that?” Mick asked, followed up with Scott’s question, “Is that bad?”
“Oh, yeah. It’s the worst.” Stiles responds completely seriously. “But only once a month.” Stevie adds placing a hand on Stiles’ arm. Scott looks at the two confused, “Once a month?” Stiles nods his head, “Mhm, on the night of the full moon.” Together both Stiles and Stevie made soft howling sounds. Scott pushed Stiles into Stevie muttering something about them being the worst. Stiles wrapped his arm around the girl’s shoulders to make sure she didn’t fall as he quickly caught himself. “Hey, you’re the one who heard a wolf howling.” Stiles let out a soft chuckle as he teased the dark haired teen. “I heard it too, ya know.” Mick walked over to Scott showing that he was on his side in this. “There could be something seriously wrong with me.” Scott huffed annoyed at Stiles joking about this. “I know you’re a werewolf!” Stiles imitated a fake growl as he lifted his hands up like claws. Stevie giggled, bumping her hip into Stiles. “Okay, we’re obviously kidding. But if you see us in shop class trying to melt all the silver I can find, it’s ‘cause Friday’s a full moon.” Stevie told Scott as he finally slowed to a stop.
“No, I-I could have sworn this was it. Mick and I saw the body, the deer came running. I dropped my inhaler.” The McCall boy bent down to ruffle through the leaves to see if the missing item was underneath them. “Maybe the killer moved the body?” Stiles suggested as Mick was shifting leaves around with his foot. “If he did I hope he left my inhaler. Those things are like 80 bucks.”
Stevie looked up from Scott and her eyes locked onto a man in all black causing her to jump back into the tree behind her as she let out a yelp in fear, where the hell had he come from and why didn’t they hear him? Stiles and Mick looked up hearing the noise from Stevie. Mick quickly made his way to his sister’s side sliding himself slightly in front of her. Stiles hits Scott’s shoulder to get his attention. Scott stood and turned towards the figure, now making it harder for Stevie to see the man. The man stalked over to us a brooding look on his face
“What are you doing here? This is private property.” The intense gaze from the man on top of how close he now was made Stevie subconsciously grabbing at her shoulder. “Uh, sorry man, we didn’t know.” Stiles apologized looking like a caught kid sneaking a cookie. “Yeah, we were just looking for something, but..” Scott explained but there was a slight pause in which the man in front of them just looked at them. “Forget it.” Then the man shocked us all by pulling Scott’s inhaler from his pocket and tossing it over. He turned and began to walk away when Stevie stepped forward and called after him, “Thanks terminator!” Mick grabbed his sister’s arm and pulled her back but the man never turned around.
“Are you insane?” Mick looked at his sister like she was in fact crazy. “Don’t be such a bitch,” She muttered, turning towards Stiles and Scott. “Sorry for caring about you, jerk.” Mick huffed as Stiles turned towards them. “Come on guys, I got to get to work.” Scott sighs, turning to go but Stiles stops him. “Dude, that was Derek Hale. You remember right? He’s only a few years older than us.” Stiles looked back to where Derek, the creepy Terminator man, disappeared into the woods. “Remember what exactly?” Mick asked just as confused as Scott looked. “His family all burned to death in a fire like ten years ago.” Mick gasped pointing over at his twin. “That was the first emergency response dad went on.” Scott looks between the three faces before stopping at Stiles, “I wonder what he’s doing back.”
Stiles let out a scoff before the four of them headed back to where they left their vehicles. Stiles and Scott pulled out first leaving the twins. Stevie tossed her keys over to her brother. “I think I hit my shoulder on something on our way back, you drive.” Mick nods and moves to the driver’s side of the car while Stevie takes a moment to scan her eyes over the woods. She stopped for a moment when her eyes landed on Derek Hale. He was a few yards away watching them, or more specifically her. “Come on Stephanie, we gotta get home before pops questions where we’ve been.” She finally pulled her eyes away from Derek and got into the car.
🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾
The twins parted ways when they got home. Stephanie settled into her room to go through her meticulous notes and organization. Mick never really understood the teachers so he usually studied with his sister to understand things the day before the test. Not to mention that since she always had the notes the boys always came to her for them, even if they were based on the book and not necessarily what the teacher said or did.
There was a light rap at the door before it opened wider than the few inches she kept it at. Dean leaned in the doorway, his hands stuffed into his jean pockets. The teen girl looked over at him from where she was color coordinating her notes. “Hey pops.” Dean looked over his shoulder towards Michael’s closed bedroom door before walking over to his daughter. “Mick, said your shoulder was bothering you. Which one was it?” Dean inquired as the girl closed her eyes. “Stevie,” Dean warned her for not answering him right away. “It’s nothing. Mickey is probably just over reacting. You know how worried he gets when it comes to me.”
“We all do kid. Finish up, we’re having ‘Smith Surprise’ for dinner.” Stevie dramatically laid back on the floor where she was sitting and let out a groan. “I swear that is not what it's supposed to be called, old man.” Dean was already turning towards the door to leave her room. “Yes it is. Call your uncle Sammy if you don’t believe me, baby doll.”
In a matter of minutes later the Smith family was gathered around the kitchen table, or close to seeing as James was getting ready for work. “So dad, pops..” Stevie started pushing her food around on her plate. Both of the parents in the house looked at their daughter who seemed hesitant about whatever it was she would ask or say. “What is it?” James glanced at Mick for any clues but the boy was too busy stuffing his mouth with food. “There’s this party Friday night after the scrimmage-” Stevie began to explain but was cut off by Dean, “No.” James hit his husband’s shoulder. “What about this party?”
“I was invited to go by Lydia Martin.” Mick’s fork clattered onto his plate from the shock of his sister’s statement causing him to drop his fork. “Widdia Marhim?” He tried to say Lydia Martin with a full mouth which earned him a light smack on the back of the head from Dean in scolding. “Whose all going?” James asked, leaning on the counter between where Dean was sitting and where his daughter was. “The lacrosse team and a couple others. No offense to the boys and all but...maybe it's time for me to have some girlfriends?” The last part changed the looks in all three of the male’s eyes. None of them have ever known Stevie to have a female friend to hang out with. Her sleepovers were usually at Stiles’ or at their own house with her brother and best friends. “I think it’s a good idea. Just no underaged drinking.” James pointed at his daughter as he pushed off the counter and headed towards the door to leave the house. “You really got invited by Lydia?” Mick asked, still shocked over her interaction with Lydia. Between Stiles and Mick it was hard not to hear about the girl. Stevie rolled her eyes and just ate her meal.

Scott was at his locker the following day. His head is a mess between the vanished bite mark, going on a date with Allison, and the strange sleepwalking. He reached back to close his locker when it was slammed closed for him by Jackson. Both were dressed in their lacrosse training gear. “Alright little man, how ‘bout you tell me where you’re getting your juice.” Jackson states bluntly looking a tad intimidating the way he stood in front of Scott. It took Scot a moment for him to focus on what was just instructed on. “What?”
“Where are you getting your juice?” Jackson repeated speaking slower and enunciating every word more clearly for Scott to understand him. Scott clearly wasn’t understanding what Jackson was getting at. Or at least not fully. The teen was thoroughly confused as he replied, “My mom does all the grocery shopping but Stevie sometimes gives me some of her fruit smoothie.” Jackson was slightly baffled by how Scott just wasn’t understanding him. “Now, listen, McCall.. You are going to tell me exactly what it is and who you’re buying it from, because there’s no way in hell you’re out there kicking ass on the field like that without some kind of chemical boost.” It was at that moment that everything clicked in Scott’s head. “Oh, you mean steroids.” Scott lowered his head a new wave of confusion setting in. “Are you on steroids?”
Jackson grabbed onto Scott’s practice jersey before shoving him into the lockers, “What the hell is going on with you, McCall?” Scott was looking right into Jackson’s eyes as he replied, “What’s going on with me? You really wanna know?” Jackson let go of Scott thinking he was about to get the answer he wanted. “Well, so would I! Because I can see, hear, and smell things that I shouldn’t be able to. I do things that should be impossible, I’m sleepwalking three miles into the middle of the woods, and I’m pretty much convinced that I’m totally out of my freaking mind!” McCall’s rant ended with a heavy sigh.
Whittemore chuckled thinking he was joking. “You think you’re funny.. Don’t you McCall? I know you’re hiding something. I’m going to find out what it is. I don’t care how long it takes.” The captain’s hand banged against the lockers for emphasis and intimidation before he walked away leaving a frustrated and confused Scott behind.
Scott kicked his foot back against the locker before heading to the lacrosse field for practice. Stevie was leaning against the bench where her brother was sitting with Scott across from them when Stiles comically came running towards them flailing his arms. “Scott! Scott, wait up.” Stevie ducked behind her brother whenever Coach looked towards them so she wasn’t kicked off the field towards the bleachers. “Stiles I’m playing the first elimination man, can it wait?” Stiles had one hand on McCall’s shoulder and the other moved from a stop motion to his side along with the other, “Just hold on okay? I overheard my dad on the phone.” Stiles grabbed Scott to make him look at him, “The fiber analysis came back from the lab in LA they found animal hairs on the body from the woods.” Scott finally got away from Stiles trying to hold him in place. “I gotta go.” McCall ran out onto the field leaving Stiles there with Mick and Stevie. Stevie put her hand on Stiles’ arm. “What was the result?” Stiles turned towards the twins. “It was a wolf. The animal was a wolf.”
Stevie moved to the bleachers to sit with Allison and Lydia when they arrived. Stiles and Mick heading out to the field. Coach was giving his yearly explanation of ‘make the cut you play the rest of you losers sit on the bench’ or at least that’s how Mick always took it. Stevie bumped her shoulder into Allison’s as she sat the two exchanging a smile. The three girls watched the mock game played by the team. “Your brother doesn’t mind sitting on the bench does he?” Allison asked as they watched Mick jump away from another player. “Mick is a bit of a softy. Sometimes I think he plays just to stay close to Stiles and Scott.” The teasing smile on the blonde’s face made the fair skinned girl laugh. Both let out a small gasp as Jackson knocked Scott to the ground.
Yet when Scott got up and the new round began. McCall to the ball right from the start. None of his friends had seen him maneuver around the other players like he currently was. Stiles and Mick exchanged a look from the bench where Stiles waited for his chance to play and Mick just came off the field. Cheers erupted throughout the watching crowd as Scott scored a point. Lydia pulled at Allison’s arm playfully as the girls stood up with the other students. Another standing ovation was given seconds later as everyone overheard Coach announce that Scott made first line.
Mick went over to Scott’s after school, the two were going to do some homework together using the notes they borrowed from Stevie. Stevie herself decided to go with Stiles leaving Mick the keys to the car. The blonde climbed into the blue jeep along with her best friend. “Okay Watson, we have a mystery to solve.” Stiles begins as he pulls out of the school parking lot driving towards his house. “Mystery of what happened to Scott McCall?” Stevie inquired looking over at Stiles who nodded his head, fingers drumming against the steering wheel. “There has to be a reason for what’s going on and we’re going to figure it out.”
Stilinski hit the brakes as he slowed for a stop light, his right hand left the steering wheel as his arm reached across the passenger side of the jeep. Stevie rolled her eyes and smiled. Stiles Stilinski always soccer moms her in his jeep. She called him out on it once but he just said he didn’t trust her seatbelt. Scott and Mick teased him about it since she was the only one he did it for. Stevie sent a text to her parents letting them know where she and Michael were, since her twin probably forgot to check in. Arriving at the Stilinski house she and Stiles greeted his dad who was in the kitchen. “Hey dad.” / “Hi Sheriff Stilinski.” The sheriff waved at the both watching the teens run back towards Stiles’ room.
The two discussed for three hours what it could be before they came to one conclusion. “Hey Steph, I’m heading back to the station if you need a ride.” The Sheriff offered, leaning half way into his son’s room. The blonde smiled up at him from where she sat on the floor, her hair partly braided. “Actually Sheriff, I’ll probably just stay here with Stiles a bit longer. Thanks though.” The sheriff smiled at her, “Make sure to call your parents and let them know.” The sheriff waved before leaving.
🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾
Stevie was laying on Stiles’ bed reading some of the printed out pages from their research. After realizing they probably had as much information on werewolves as they were currently going to get they moved on to other things like silver and wolfsbane. Stiles closed his laptop at the sound of a knock on the door. Stephanie laughed softly as she looked around the floor of his room which was littered with printed out pages. Stiles opened the door seeing Scott and Michael standing there waiting.
“Oo door was closed with a girl over. Glad pops doesn’t know about this.” Michael teased looking at his sister. The shorter girl grabbed a balled up piece of paper and threw it at her brother. Stiles let out a sigh and stepped back. “Get in.” Both teen males joined Stiles and Stevie in the room before the door was swiftly closed behind them to avoid the sheriff meddling into their research. “You gotta see this thing. Steph and I have been up all night reading; websites, books. All this information.”
“How much Adderall have you had today?” Scott inquired looking at his best friend before glancing at the tired girl on the bed. “A lot.” She answered, pushing herself up into a sitting position. “Doesn’t matter. Okay, just listen.” Stiles grabs a few of the papers off his desk, spinning to face the three other teens. Scott tossed his backpack onto the bed next to Steph, “Oh, is this about the body?” Then sat down in front of the girl who leaned forward to rest her head on his back. “No, they’re still questioning people, even Derek Hale.”
“The guy from the woods? Terminator dude?” Mick asked, sitting down next to Scott while reaching back to hand his sister a can of coffee he bought for her. Stevie’s eyes sparkled in excitement before she opened the can and took a sip. “Yeah! Yes. But that’s not it, okay?” Stiles looked over at Stevie who was too lost in her coffee to explain so he continued. “Remember the joke from the other day? Not a joke anymore.” The change of Stiles’ tone made the other two males in the room focus on him. “The wolf-- the bite in the woods. We,” Stiles wiped around his mouth before gesturing between Stevie and himself, “started to do this research and reading.” Stiles stands up from his seat as his voice changes again, “Do you even know why a wolf howls?”
“Should we?” Michael asked a bit slowly, his eyebrows furrowing with confusion.
“It’s a signal. When a wolf is alone it howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack.” Stevie finally speaks up more awake than she was half a can of coffee ago. “Exactly, so if you heard a wolf howling, that means others could have been nearby. Maybe even a whole pack of ‘em.” Stiles was definitely hyper fixated as he even stumbled over his words in his rush to get them out. “A whole pack of wolves?” Scott’s question was quickly shot down by Stiles, “No.. Werewolves.”
Scott stood from the bed, suddenly making both Smith twins look towards him. “Are you seriously wasting my time with this?” McCall was in disbelief at how his friends could be so serious about this. Stevie got up from the bed and grabbed his bag to stop him. “You know I’m picking up Allison in an hour.” Stiles reached out to also stop Scott. “We saw you on the field today, Scott. Okay, what you did wasn’t just amazing alright? It was impossible.”
“Yeah so I made a good shot.” Scott gave an extra little tug making Stevie let go as he walked towards the door. Stiles put his hand on his friend’s chest. “No, you made an incredible shot. I mean the way you moved, your speed, your reflexes. People can’t just suddenly do that overnight.” Stevie couldn’t tell if Stiles was getting emotional or was simply that passionate about what he was talking about. “And there’s the vision and the senses and don’t even think that we haven’t noticed that you don’t need your inhaler anymore.” Stevie adds on as she walks around Scott to stand with Stiles. “Okay! Guys, I can’t think about this now. We’ll talk tomorrow.” Scott snapped at them, making Mick slowly rise to his feet feeling like a fight might break out.
“Tomorrow?!”
“Have you lost your marbles?!”
Stiles and Stevie both objected at the same time. Stiles glanced at the girl next to him for a brief moment. “The full moon’s tonight. Don’t you get it?” Stiles points out. Michael stepped closer to his sister feeling more protective the louder the conversation got. “What are you trying to do? I-I just made first line. I got a date with a girl who I can’t believe wants to go out with me, and everything in my life is somehow perfect. Why are you trying to ruin it?” Scott literally ended up talking down at Stiles as he sat back down on his computer chair. “We’re trying to help.” Stevie scoffs annoyed with how Scott’s acting. “You’re cursed Scott. You know, and it's not just the moon will cause you to physically change. It also just so happens to be when your bloodlust will be at its peak.” Stiles really was worried about his friend, the softer tone he lowered to proving that he didn’t want to argue or fight.
“His bloodlust?” Mick asked, speaking up, bringing Scott to glance over at the twins. “Yeah, his urge to kill.” Scott’s blank face turned to the two confronting him. “I’m already starting to feel an urge to kill.” At Scott’s admission Mick stepped closer holding his hands up. “Whoa, let's bring it down a few notches.” Stiles reached for one of the books ignoring Mick, “You got to hear this. ‘Change can be caused by anger or anything that raises your pulse.’ All right?” Stiles looks at Scott pointedly closing the book he just quoted from a bit loudly. “We haven't seen anyone raise your pulse like Allison does. You gotta cancel this date.” Stiles side steps Scott and reaches for his bag to grab the boy’s cell phone. “I’m going to call her right now.”
“What are you doing?” Mick looked at Stiles with wide eyes. “He’s canceling the date.” Stevie answered for him. “No, give it to me!” Scott ordered in anger, slamming Stiles up against the wall. Mick grabbed his sister’s arm pulling her next to him before moving himself to be in front of her. Stevie gasped in fear grabbing onto the back of Mick’s jacket as she peered over his shoulder at Scott who had his arm pulled back ready to punch his best friend. Instead of hitting Stiles, McCall shoved over the computer chair and released a yell of rage. The heavy panting breaths Scott took to calm himself were all that were heard as the other three watched him. “I’m sorry. I-I gotta go get ready for that party.” Scott stepped away from Stiles and to the bed where his bag was. When he passed the twins Mick stood the slightest bit straighter as if he could hide his sister from view. No one moved otherwise as Scott made his way out stopping one more time at the door to apologize to Stiles.
Stiles banged his head gently back against the wall in frustration that Scott wouldn’t listen to them. “You okay, dude?” Mick stepped towards Stiles, his sister right behind him. “Yeah, I’m good.” Stiles moved to pick back up his computer chair. “But I don’t think he is.” The twins looked down to what Stiles was looking at. Carved through the material on the back of his computer chair, right where Scott’s hand touched to shove it, where three marks eerily similar to claw marks. “Well I hope everyone is up for a party.” Stevie sighs as she runs the tips of her fingers over the torn fabric.
🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾
“Stevie, let's go, you're taking forever.” Mick called up the stairs. He had washed up, changed and talked to Stiles who was driving them there. “Stiles is literally going to be here any minute.” Steph huffed as she walked halfway down the stairs. “Is this something Lydia would approve of?” Steph asked her brother as Dean walked in from the kitchen with a large slice of pie. “Why are you so dressed up?” He asked, looking at his daughter. Mick looked from Dean to his sister. “She might hate the shoes.” Mick told his sister who groaned and turned going to change out of the converse. “That party Stevie mentioned.” He told Dean who narrowed his eyes and pointed the fork at him.
“Now if I remember correctly, your sister got invited, not the whole Scooby gang.” Dean takes a bite of pie. “Don’t get caught doing something bad. No underaged drinking. Watch out for your sister.” Dean started to lecture with his mouth full as Stevie clunked down the stairs having exchanged the converse for chunky heeled boots. Stiles beeped out front and Steph leaned up to kiss her dad’s cheek. “Bye see you later pops.”
Upon arrival at Lydia’s house Stevie was pulled away from her twin and Stiles. Both males instantly went to find Scott in the crowd of teenagers dancing. Lydia, who was pulling the blonde girl behind her, walked back over to Jackson and a few of the other lacrosse players. Stevie was introduced and seconds later Lydia and Jackson disappeared to dance leaving Stevie with three of the lacrosse players. Danny was the only one she knew by name given they had been hanging out since last year doing study sessions together. Danny patted her arm and gestured to her to follow him.
“I take it Lydia is trying to set you up with a guy from the team?” Danny asked over the music making Stevie laugh with a shake of her head. “I actually don’t know. Kinda looked that way though.” Danny hands her a cup of punch before he wrapped an arm around her so he didn’t lose her in the crowd. “Good thing I know you better.” Danny leaned down to whispers as they approached a teen sitting secluded in the quietest corner of the back yard. He was tall, curly blonde hair, and he was wearing a grey cardigan like sweater over a t-shirt. “Isaac, I want to introduce you to someone. Stephanie Smith this is Isaac Lahey. Isaac works the graveyard shift at the cemetery. Isaac, Steph here is into the spooky stuff. I have a date to get back to. Mingle.” Danny pointed at the two teens he just introduced to each other before walking away.
Steph drops her head and sighs before rolling it to the side and looking up at the teen who was nearly the same height as her uncle. “Hi. Hope you don’t mind the company.” She took a small step closer to the half wall he was leaning against before tossing the contents of the cup into the bush behind it. “Not a fan of the punch?” His voice was low and with a gentle tone that made her smile slightly at him. “It’s spiked. Don’t want to go home after drinking.” Isaac nods his head. “Michael’s your brother right?”
“Yeah. What number are you?” Steph pushed herself up onto the half wall. “Uh fourteen.” Steph snaps her fingers and points at him. “You were amazing at the scrimmage. That toss to McCall. Golden. Sorry you got tackled so hard for it though. Is your neck okay?” Isaac nods his head slowly. “Yeah. My neck’s fine. I’m.. I’m a bit clumsy so I’m used to it.” He tugged at his sweater sleeves and Stevie looked around the party catching sight of Derek Hale stalking around. “Just so you know. The nurse might leave before practice but my dad is an EMT and he always makes me keep a fully stocked first aid kit in the car. If things get too bad I can always patch you up. I’ve done it for Danny before when he skinned his shin. Not to mention growing up with the Three Stooges.” Steph looked over to where Stiles and her brother were awkwardly standing around talking while watching Scott with Allison.
“I’ll keep that in mind. I uh, I have to get to work at the cemetery. My dad doesn’t know I’m here so I still have to get to work. See you at school?” Isaac looked down at Stevie as he stood up. “Sure thing. Be safe.” She smiled and waved before moving back towards the party to join her brother and Stiles. On her way over to them Danny stepped in front of her. “How did it go?” He asked with a smile, making her roll her eyes. “It’s good he seems sweet. We’ll talk more at school. Hey, have you seen any of my usual group?” Danny looked around for a moment. “Stiles and your brother went inside and Scott was just with Allison.” Danny pointed towards the girl left standing outside so Stevie walked over to her quickly.
“Al, is everything okay?” The blonde asked her and Allison grabbed her friend’s hand hurrying inside. Ahead of them Stevie could see Stiles and Mick hurrying outside together. “Something’s wrong with Scott.” Allison said over her shoulder as they hurried towards the entrance. They just made it down the stairs when Scott peeled out of there like a bat out of hell followed closely behind by Stiles and Mick in Roscoe.
“Allison,” A smooth voice called from behind the two teen girls making both turn around. Of course standing there looking out of place at a high school party was Derek Hale. Stevie looped her arm through Allison’s making it clear that she wasn’t leaving the other girl. “I’m a friend of Scott’s. My name’s Derek. I actually know Stevie here too.” Allison looked over to the blonde who was looking at Derek trying to figure out what his motive was. “Maybe I can give you two a ride home?” Hearing Derek’s offer instantly made Stevie wish she could physically snarl at the man, or maybe it’s all the werewolf talk getting to her.
“Uh, yeah that would be great. Let me grab my jacket.” Allison went back inside to grab her jacket leaving Stevie alone with Derek. “I don’t like you. Something about you is just off and I don’t like it but if you hurt Allison I will do everything in my power to make sure Sheriff Stilinski and Scott knows it was you. Got it Zuko?” Stevie poked his leather clad chest as she looked up at him trying to be as threatening as she could. Derek huffed out what was almost a laugh before pushing her hand away. “You’re something else..” Before Steph could ask what he meant Allison was back and both girls were getting in Derek’s Camaro.
🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾
When Stiles and Mick left Lydia's, their focus was solely on Scott who was clearly under the influence of something. Neither noticed that they forgot Steph until they were pulling up at Scott’s where they followed him to. Mick turned to tell his sister to wait in the jeep but she simply wasn’t there. “Shit pop is going to kill me later.” Mick mumbled as they both hopped out of the jeep running inside the house.
Stiles persistently knocked at Scott’s bedroom door. “Go away.” The weak reply from Scott came from inside. “Scott it’s me and Mick.” Scott came to open the door just enough that Stiles could probably fit his head in. “Come on, let me in. Scott, I can help.” Scott rested his head on the wooden door right above the sliding lock. “No! Listen, you gotta find Allison.” Stiles looked at Mick who was looking at his phone. Mick held the phone up for Stiles to see the text from Stevie. “She’s fine, Stevie’s with her, all right? They were getting a ride from the party. Stevie’s got her.”
“No, I think I know who it is.” Scott said still not opening the door enough to let his two male best friends in. “Just let us in Scotty, we can try--”
“It’s Derek.” Scott cut Mick off, “Derek Hale is the werewolf. He’s the one that bit me. He’s the one that killed the girl in the woods. Mick’s face paled at what Scott was claiming. He took a slightly staggered step back to lean against the wall. “Scott.. Derek’s the one who drove the girls from the party.” Stiles told him, realizing what this could mean. The bedroom door closed leaving Stiles to bang on it. “Scott!” Scott was ignoring his best friend, leaping from the window, the only thought on his mind was Allison, protecting Allison.
“Stiles, Stevie’s phone is going straight to voicemail.” Mick’s worried voice told the sheriff’s son as they tried looking for Scott as they hurried to Allison’s. “It probably just died. You know how she is with that thing.” Stiles tried to reassure his best friend. Mick jumped out of the jeep before Stiles even had it in park and was up at the house ringing the doorbell. When Stiles got to the door he rang the doorbell yet again. Not getting a response fast enough for either of them they both knocked on the door. The door opened to reveal one annoyed woman.
“Um.. Hi Mrs. Argent. You don’t know us but we’re friends of your daughter’s.” Stiles began to ramble. The woman turned towards the kitchen, “Allison it’s for you!” Allison just steps out of the kitchen with a confused look on her face. “Stiles, Mick...what are you doing here? I just got back from taking Stevie home.” Mick released a sigh of relief knowing his sister was home safe and so was Allison. “Sorry Allison, my sister’s phone died and I kind of panicked.” Mick rubbed the back of his head giving an apologetic smile to her and her mother. “We should go. Sorry for that.”
“Don’t worry. She did seem a bit upset though. Just warning you guys.” Allison nods her head as she sees them both out of her house. Mick called Dean, who didn’t answer so he called his dad’s cell and was thankful to get an answer to let his dad know he would be with Stiles tonight. Which his dad was okay with as usual.
🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾-🐾
Neither of them knew the argument taking place at home between Dean and Stevie. Dean was in the garage doing some late night work on his car when Allison and Stevie pulled into the driveway. Dean wiped his hands out and came to greet the two girls. “You’re home early and without your brother.” Dean comments looking at his daughter. “Mick mentioned something about going to Stiles’. I wanted to head out early so I got a ride. Pops this is Allison Argent, Allison this is my pops, Dean. You’ll have to meet my dad another time.
Allison agreed to go along with my lie on the way over which I was very thankful. Despite being upset that Stiles and Mick left I understood. Allison smiled at my dad as they shook hands. “Argent, huh? Nice to meet you Allison. Thanks for giving my daughter a ride. You better head home before it gets too late.” Allison nods and waved goodbye before getting in the car and leaving.
Dean followed his daughter into the house. He stood in the living room where she stopped to take off her shoes. “I don’t want you to hang out with Allison, Stevie.” The request took Stevie by utter shock as she snapped her head over to him. “What do you mean you don’t want me to hang out with her?” Stevie gaped as her pops shrugs with his hands in his pockets, “Exactly what I said. I don’t want you to hang out with her.”
“No. You can’t do this. I finally made a female friend and you say I can’t hang out with her? Why?” Stevie stands to face him, her arms crossed in front of her chest. “Because I said so now just do as I say.” Dean raised his voice as he gave her an order. “No! That’s not fair!” She objected, throwing her arms down to her sides. “Stephanie, I have my reasons and I am not going to explain them to you now. Just listen to me or I will ground you and you won’t be hanging out with any of your friends.” Stevie took a step back, her jaw locked in anger. Dean rarely ever called her by her first name, he was the one who gave her the nickname ‘Stevie’. So sure he was serious but to her it was still unfair. Grabbing her boots she stomped up the stairs to her room where she stayed for the rest of the night.
When James got home early the next morning Dean was sitting at the kitchen table picking at the label on an empty bottle of beer. He moved to sit next to his husband concerned for why he was still awake. “What’s on your mind?” James’ voice cut through Dean’s thoughts causing the man to grunt and push the bottle away. “I got to meet one of Stevie’s new girl friends today. She’s an Argent. Stevie and I got into a fight because I told her she couldn’t see her friend.”
“Why would you do that?” James began setting up the coffee pot as he looked over at his husband. “I know Argents James. If Argents are here in Beacon Hills that means something is going on.” Dean tapped on the table sitting forward on his chair. “Or they just want a safe place to raise their daughter like we did.” James walked over to pet Dean’s hair and soothe him. “You don’t get it. The Argents, they aren’t like me and Sam or even Bobby. They live their life for the job, it is their job from the moment they agree till death.” Dean stood from the table to pace. “Son of a bitch, I just wanted to raise our kids in peace.”

It was dawn by the time Stiles and Mick found Scott walking down the road without a shirt or shoes. While Stiles slowed to a stop to pick him up Mick climbed into the back of the jeep. “You know what worries me the most?” Scott spoke aloud drawing attention from the other two males in the jeep. “If you say Allison I’m going to punch you in the head.” Stiles comments glancing over at his best friend.
“She probably hates me now.” Stiles sighed in disgust over how love sick his best friend was. “I mean if it means anything I’m pretty sure Stevie hates everyone right now.” Mick muttered from behind them. He got a text about an hour ago from his sister telling him the story she used to cover for him and then some slightly angrier texts about being left alone, pops not liking Allison for no reason, and being grounded. “Guess we all need some pretty amazing apologies.”
“Stiles patted Scott’s shoulder, “We’ll get through this. Come on, if I have to I’ll chain you up myself on full moons and feed you live mice. I had a boa once.” Stiles was slightly joking, making Mick snort, “Pretty sure Stevie fed that thing more than you did. “We got this chill.” Stiles smiles at his friends.

Story 1
At the moment I may or may not be a bit obsessed with One Piece without even watching the anime, and I'm even more obsessed with Sanji and the Vinsmokes in general, so I thought of four story ideas with a reader insert, two will be romantic and the last two will be platonic.
1. Aracne
Fem Reader X Vinsmoke quadruplets.
Soulmate au (red string, sort of)
Sneak peek.
In this Au Reader is a Third, her family has webbed countless portraits for the Vinsmoke family, she goes with her older brother in order to further her practice and experience in webbing a portrait.
She is four years older then the quadruplets and one year older than Reiju.
Story time
*Big brother says I need to be careful with the Vinsmokes, they don't act bad but I don't like how their eyes look and I feel dizzy when I look at them, although brother said that it was sea sickness,* (F/N) thought while she carried some of the webbing material behind her brother.
Her brother had three spider arms and one pair of human arms while she has tree pair of human arms and one pair of spider ones.
*Mother always says how we are total opposites in not only personality but also in bodies just like the Mrabara,* (F/N) remembered.
"Brother,"
"Yes?" They had already arrived to the webbing room.
"What is a Mrabara?" (F/N) moved to one side for her face to be visible.
"W-Where did you hera that word?" Brother's face was twisted in nervous worry.
"Mom,"
"Oh thank god," His face relaxed.
"Is there something wrong with Mrabara?"
"It's a mature word," Brother tried to explain.
"I'm mature," (F/N) pouted following her brother who had entered the webbing room.
"Never said you weren't.......just don't say it in front of ClĂo and if you do tell her mom taught you the word," Brother said while he started to prepare the webbing station.
"Come help me with this (F/N),"
Four hours later.
"Are you listening (F/N)?"
"Yeah," (F/N) muttered in her seat while she watched her brother web.
"What did I just say then?" Brother looked at her and smiled playfully.
".............."
"You already bored, don't you usually last for 7 whole hours?" Her brother gave her a worried look.
"I don't know," (F/N) really wanted to walk outside but she didn't know why, she loved webbing to the point that in her lessons they had to remind her to eat, although they said that it was normal.
"Tell you what, I'll ask for something to eat, meanwhile go and retrieve my webbing book," (F/N) lightened up at the thought of walking outside.
"Ok," (F/N) bolted to the door.
"Stick to the route we came from," Her brother reminded and she just nodded in agreement before she opened the door and left the room.
When she left the room she bumped into someone slightly smaller than her, she caught the stranger before they could fall to the ground.
"Are you ok? I'm so sorry," She looked at the stranger who had yellow hair.
"Hello?" She asked after stopping herself from apologizing again when she received no answer, the boy was frozen.
"S-S-So-orry-Sorry," The boy whispered.
"Why are you apologizing?" She then gasped recognizing the prince.
"Your highness, I'm so sorry," She apologized again.
Before she could keep apologizing they heard some footsteps approaching them and then someone calling out.
"Sanji!!" The boy stiffened at the voice calling his name, he took (F/N)'s hand and ran.
(F/N) followed along until they reached a dead end, she could see how the little boy was trembling and heard how the taunts and footsteps where still following them, but something good was that the dead end had a window.
She took out of her pockets a thread serger that had spider web her family told her to always carry with her, she roped the thread around the boy to create a small harness.
"I'm going to get you down there," The boy only looked at her in shock.
She pushed the window open and put the boy in the ledge of the window, under the window was a small bush where he could easily hide.
"Be very quiet," She said as she pushed the boy and started to let him down as fast as she could, the steps where getting closer and closer.
Luckily she felt the boy reach the ground a few second before the chasers reached her, but she only had time to throw her end or the thread and close the window.
"SANJI!!" She turned around in surprise and saw that a bow with green hair had yelled that.
*It's the princes,* (F/N) noted when the last two boys rounded the corner.
"Ichiji, this is just a girl," The blue haired one whined.
The red haired boy glared and (F/N) felt shivers when she made eye contact.
"Oi, where did Sanji go?" The green haired boy asked.
(F/N) only shacked her head.
"Then what is a insect like you doing here?" The blue haired one asked.
"Looking out the window?" (F/N) gave a look of "seriously", this seemed to anger them.
"An lowlife doesn't need to see out the window, maybe we should use this one since we can't find Sanji," The blue haired one was clearly the most volatile.
"(F/N) what are you doing here?" Came her brother's cold voice.
"Brother, I just wanted to look out the window," (F/N) explained while the boys turned around and their grins disappeared when they saw her brother.
"Young princes, I will be taking my sister with me now," He greeted politely.
(F/N) immediately followed him not looking behind, this made her brother the only one who saw the red strings tied to her pinkies.
Au info dump
In this Au there is a species called Aracne, this species is a hybrid between a spider and human, there are different forms a Aracne can be born into such as seconds, thirds and fourths, although the form is respective to the family they come from.
Seconds
As the name says, they are basically half spider and half humans, the spider humans is always the lower, members of this species are considered either as builders since due to their form it would be incredible dangerous for the to go into the sea and their silk is the strongest and more resistant or as knowledge guardians (librarians) and they have the most elders since they have the longer lifespan. They can also be seen as teachers and caretakers too, they are also the ones who take care of the security alongside the Fourths, there is usually two of them per family they take the role as grandparents or simply mentors although the last one is extremely rare and two is just the minimum but unofficially they take care of all family's since they most probably took care of them as children. Their bites are fatal and will take your life in less than a minute and can dissolve any surface.
Thirds
Their humanoid features are more dominant than the spider ones, in this form they possess either one, two or three pairs of arms and the rest takes the form of a spider leg that is always in their lower backs. When it comes to females their web exit is in the middle of where the lowest spider legs find themselves this causes them to be incredibly flexible to reach for the web. They are considered the negotiators and commonly leave their homes to aid their nest's economy, this is usually trough them selling their services in making clothes, rugs and even portraits with their silk but this kind of service is only given to royalty or families considered sacred or that are friends with them. (It is considered a honor or sign of power to have one portrait since it is believed that they can predict the future). Their bite is also mortal but will take six minutes to kill an adult, although it has been used in some medicine that kind of works like chemo.
Fourths
They are the ones who exit their island the most in unofficial matters unlike the thirds, this is due to their forms being less evident and easier to hide, they are the ones in charge to keep the island updated in politics, economy, science and culture although some of them also accompany as guards the thirds when it comes to political exits, they only possess two to tree pairs of arms, their whole body possess small hard hair that allows them to still be able to climb webs like the other forms, their bite takes ten minutes to kill someone or if they are a strong human they can survive but not without any damage that is usually caused to their muscles, although their venom if processed correctly can be used to cure countless of sicknesses, this is a secret guarded with their lives in order to prevent their active hunt. They are also the buffest since they need to compensate their lack of spider legs with their strength.
More info
Skin and eye color varies an there is no consistence, when it comes to eyes Seconds may possess 8 to 6, Thirds 5 to 3 and Fourths possess 4 to 3, two eyes is incredibly rare and only happens when someone is born from a Fourth and a human, hybrids are born from the union of two different forms, the Aracne are not against romantic relationship between different forms but when it comes to reproduce they worry, if a fourth became pregnant with a Second or Third they will die during the pregnancy or in childbirth since the baby's form will be mixed and the Fouth's body cannot handle it, same goes for a Third with a Fourth although there are higher chances of survival there is still the possibility of some life damage occurring, Seconds are the ones who can carry in a less dangerous way the offspring of the lover but due to the Second's anatomy a Fourth's baby has a 85% of chance to die and a Fourth's has a 50% chance to die in the womb.
If the hybrid is born healthy they are raised normally but health issues will come in the future if they aren't born with them already, although there are cases where hybrids manage to enjoy a full life, they still needed medical help to manage it.
There is a lot less danger if the child is a mix between a Aracne and a human, since a human's gene would only water down the child's form a long as it is the Aracne who carries, if it where the human they will die if they carrie the offspring of a Second or a Third, if it is a Fourth's child they carry it comes with less danger but their chance of survival is of less than 30%.

Folktober 05 — for @jurdannet/@jurdannetrevels. In which Jude was never taken to Faerie and grew up in blissful ignorance of the fair folk—mostly—until the night they tried to steal her twin sister away.
First | Prev
The door is the first test. It is difficult not to stare at every new thing I see. There are lamps on either side of the polished wood doors, and at first I think they’re just regular lights, but of course nothing here is that simple; the light comes from two tiny glowing faeries, trapped behind glass. I am immediately filled with questions. Did they volunteer for the job? Is this a punishment for some unknown crime? Do they eat, and if so, who feeds them? Do they live forever, miserable in their prison, or do they eventually burn themselves out?
But I am meant to be glamoured and not ask questions, so I don’t, even though I want to pound my hands against the glass until they bleed and the tiny faeries are freed. I keep my eyes straight ahead and hardly even flinch when I notice the grotesque carving on the door. It looks horrible, a twisted and terrible face, the knocker piercing its nose.
Cardan acts as if this is all totally normal, because of course to him it is, because he lives here and none of this is new to him. Without any hesitation, he reaches for the door knocker. And as he does, the carving’s eyes spring open.
To keep from screaming, I bite my lip hard enough to draw a bead of blood. My entire body goes taut, a coiled spring waiting for release. I force myself to breathe in through my nose.
“My prince,” says the carving.
Cardan smiles at the door in a way I am not even sure he smiled at his friends. “My door.”
I am relieved when the next words from the door’s awful mouth are “Welcome home” and it swings open to admit us. Cardan stalks inside, and I follow.
There is a faerie servant waiting for us, wearing some kind of livery. “Prince Cardan,” they say, with a small bow. “Your brother would like to speak with you.”
“A pity for him,” Cardan replies, handing his cloak to another servant. No one offers to take the jacket I am wearing. “I would like that less.”
“I am afraid it was not a request,” the first servant says. “He wishes to speak with you and the mortal girl you have brought back with you.”
Cardan glances back at me, a frown turning down the corners of his full mouth. “Very well, although I cannot imagine why. Come, Jude.”
I bristle at the command, but I follow after him; it’s what the glamoured girl I’m supposed to be would do. I force a little smile on my lips and trot after him. “What’s going on?” I whisper through it.
“I know not.” The frown deepens. “And I like that even less. Stay close to me and face front, no matter what you see. And under no circumstances may you antagonize Balekin as you do me. Am I understood?”
I want to tell him that if he thinks my meager resistance so far has been antagonism, he doesn’t really know anything about hardship, but there’s an urgency to his voice, maybe something like nerves or fear, that makes me think he’s being serious.
“Totally,” I say, and then I fall back a little so that I trail him.
Soon I see why he warned me to stare straight ahead. As we walk through the hallway, I see another human for the first time, a young man dressed in the same palace livery. At first I want to call out to him, to scream, to tell him I’ve been taken and he has too and we should both run away from this place, but I notice the glazed look in his eyes, and, as we approach, his cracked fingers and chapped lips. He hums to himself as he polishes an old suit of armor on display, and doesn’t seem to notice as we pass.
I shudder. Cardan may have kidnapped me, true. He and his friends might have intended to do terrible things to my sister, and he may still intend to do terrible things to me. But at least I have been spared that fate, the loss of my all my faculties, of any control.
I’m not relieved for long, because Hollow Hall still has horrors in store for me. Soon we come to another set of gleaming doors, through which I can hear the sounds of chatter and the faint thrumming of music. The doors are thrown open for us by another pair of servants, and then we are in the middle of the great hall.
There is what is clearly a party happening. Well, I assume it’s a party, what parties are in fairyland. It looks like the kind of scene HBO would get in trouble for when casting a bunch of nude extras. I mean, by human standards, it would definitely be considered an orgy, but I am beginning to think that human and faerie standards are very different.
And that’s not to say all of the Folk are embracing. Some are eating golden fruit. Some are drinking wine and mead from great goblets, like the ones Cardan brought for his picnic jaunt into my world. Others seem to be falling asleep. Two might be strangling each other to the amusement of onlookers. There is a small band on the other side of the room that includes a green-skinned pixie playing a flute and a boy with goat legs playing an honest-to-god lute. And, yes, there are faeries in varying states of undress, on couches near the perimeter of the room or cushions on the floor, and some are definitely, um, occupied. They are clearly inhuman, but their bodies are human enough that I find myself blushing, out of embarrassment or mortification I don’t know.
But Cardan said I couldn’t stare, so I do my best not to. I face front and think about the places I would rather be. Which is pretty much anywhere. I imagine myself at the Starbucks downtown, sipping pumpkin spice lattes with Taryn, or bingeing She-Ra on Netflix with Vivi, like we had the last week of the summer. Then I think about how my parents will panic when they realize I’m not there in the morning—probably just a couple of hours from now—and I nearly feel sick to my stomach.
“Jude,” Cardan hisses through his teeth. “With me.”
I don’t nod. I just follow him as we chart a path through the revelers, managing to hold it together. A naked girl with daffodil-yellow skin and pink flowers for hair laughs and calls to him, trying to coax him into joining her circle, but he ignores her. I guess being a prince makes you popular.
Our destination is on the far side of the room, unfortunately, which means I have to do a lot more repression to make it there in one piece. For example, I can’t think about how a sharp-toothed faerie seems to be using a tiny bone to pick his teeth, or how another revel guest’s lips shine red like they’re wet with blood. At least I can easily pick out where we’re going and focus on that as I keep from tripping over any outstretched limbs.
Another faerie, one who looks much like Cardan with dark hair and high cheekbones, reclines in a wooden chair carved to look much like a throne, up on a dais. He is in conversation with a very lovely woman in a blue gown, but when she sees us approaching she kisses his ring and leaves. I almost want to tell her to come back, to not leave us with the host of this debauched fete. But there’s nothing to say. I’ll have no help here.
Cardan climbs the dais seps and stops before the chair, inclining his head with deference that seems a little mocking. Without being told, I know that this is Balekin, whom Cardan said was the eldest of the princes.
Brother,” Balekin says, and even I, an outsider, can sense the danger under the familial cheer. “How was your jaunt to the mortal world?”
“Tiresome,” Cardan says, stifling a yawn as he raises his head.
“I was told you brought a companion back with you.”
“Word travels fast.”
Balekin waits for him to say something else, and frowns when he doesn’t. I, meanwhile, am thinking of how I felt like we were being watched as we rode through the forest. Maybe we were. Or maybe the goblins who’d paddled the boat were spies. Nothing here was safe.
“Well, won’t you call her hence so I may examine her?” Balekin asks at last.
“Oh, indeed,” says Cardan, who clearly isn’t happy to have been called out for this. Still, he waves for me, and I take a step forward. “This mortal girl interfered with our fun. She was unhappy that Locke wanted to play with her twin sister.”
“Twins?” Balekin sounds intrigued. He sits forward. I’m learning that twins are probably rare among faeries if Taryn and I are so consistently interesting. “Why not keep them both?”
Cardan shrugs. “It was better sport to promise the freedom of one sister and then take the other. This one was so angry when she found her twin glamoured, and now she suffers that fate.”
I’m angry still, I want to shout. I’m angry now! I want to stomp my foot. I want to haul off and punch him. But I stay where I am, trying to keep the placid smile fixed on my face. I’d thought Cardan and his friends terrifying and wrong, but now that I am face-to-face with an adult faerie, I realize that Cardan can’t be much older than me—or whatever the faerie equivalent is. Maybe he’s ninety and just looks nineteen. But Balekin is clearly grown, less lanky than Cardan, more dangerous. He is looking at me in a way I don’t like.
“Come closer, child,” he says to me, and he almost sounds kind. I try not to hesitate as I approach his chair. When I am near enough, he reaches out and takes my face in his hand. There are thorns poking out of his skin, sharp enough to prick me. I stay very, very still and try to breathe normally.
“She’s not unpretty, is she?” he asks Cardan.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Cardan shift uneasily. “If mortals are your flavor.”
Balekin frowns, turning my face from one side to the other. “She has a familiar look. What is your name, girl?”
“Jude,” I say obediently.
“Your surname.”
“Smith,” I lie. It’s the first thing that comes to mind. Telling a faerie prince my actual full name seems like a really bad idea.
Balekin’s eyes narrow, but he releases me. My jaw tingles. He swirls the wine in his goblet the way sophisticated people do in movies, and then he leans back in his chair. “So, brother. Now you have a mortal girl. What will you do with her?”
“I have not yet decided,” Cardan replies, sounding thoughtful. “I would rather not put her to work in the kitchens or the hall. Mortals are so fragile, with such clumsy fingers. It amuses me to think of her carrying my schoolbooks, serving my wine, and sleeping at the foot of my bed like a faithful hound.”
“Trite amusements,” says Balekin, but I notice that he doesn’t seem displeased with his younger brother. “If you misplace this one it is of no consequence to me. Do as you will.”
Cardan inclines his head in a mock bow, then says again, “Come, Jude.”
Like the faithful hound, I follow at his heels. Unlike the faithful hound, I chafe doing so. But I can’t see another way out just now, so I will play this game until the end. Whatever that is.

enjoy!
“Reid,”
When no one speaks up, Mar’i chooses a member herself. Picking out the young boy with dark green hair and ice blue eyes, picking at his pointed nails in, she guesses, boredom. He really is nothing like his fathers. From the stories she’s heard of Titans 2.0, her older brother and one of Reid’s fathers, Beast Boy, was bouncing with excitement when they showed off their powers the first time.
The boy lifts his gaze from his fingernails to the alien hybrid, eyebrow raised.
Mar’i continues, “Your dads said you can absorb energy and channel it into a starbolt like power, is that correct?”
Reid shrugs, “Bolts, waves, I’m basically a walking EMP.” His relaxed expression changes with a smug look painted on his face, that was almost a perfect copy of her brother’s with a few tiny changes. “There’s nothing I can’t destroy.”
Mar’i notices Reid’s twin sister, Rowan rolling her eyes at her twin’s boasting.
“Okay,” Mar’i steps to the side, giving Reid room to use his abilities. “Let’s see what you got.”
“I suggest taking a few steps back.” Reid gives his black leather jacket’s collar a swift pop and takes center stage.
The three members observing do as they’re told, and for extra precaution Aurora, the girl with a head of dark blue curly hair and pastel blue eyes, raises a magic shield for protection from her cousin’s power.
In the next few moments, what resembles small bolts of red electricity climb up the boy's arms and run into his eyes, leaving them red and sparking. With a roar, Reid sends his fist into the concrete below his feet. From where his fist collided came a wave of powerful energy that destroyed the many, large wooden crates, turning them into piles of broken wood, and threw the heavy tractor into the barn’s wall; creating a very noticeable hole where the wall should be.
“Oh, wow.” Mar’i breathes in amazement.
Reid straightens up, dusting his hands off against each other and glances back at the damage he caused, “Whoops.” He says, nonchalantly.
Mar’i watches her nephew return to the spot he had previously been standing; expression warping back from smug to unenthused.
“Sick!” Rowan high fives her twin.
Mar’i turns her gaze to Rowan, a smile tugging at the side of her mouth, “Your turn!”
The girl’s attention switches to Mar’i, her wavy pale blonde hair swishing when she snapped her head towards the older teen. Her brown eyes wide, clearly not expecting her aunt to choose her next.
An awkward smile appears on her face, “Huh?”

~*~*~
School, the building of hell... literally. You hated it here, so much with a passion. You enter the hall, your F/C hoodie covers your face. Strains of H/C falls out behind your ear and back into your face. You blow on the strain but it just comes back down on you. You roll your eyes as you continue walking down, finding your locker.
You wrap your fingers around the cool lock as you enter your code number. Clicking you open it as you collect your books for class.
With a blink of an eye your books are out of your hands. You look up seeing Veronica, the most annoying and ugliest girl you know.
She has long sunflower blonde hair that was down past her shoulders, with chocolate brown eyes. She has tanish skin, pretty hard to get in Gotham probably fake. Pretty plump lips that looks to be fake like Kylie Jenner’s lips. She wears a yellow sweater with a matching yellow skirt, a black crop top showing off her body and her breast which are popping out. She has long black high heels on with long black socks.
The other two girls Caroline and Helena her minions stand next to her. Caroline has short curly brown hair, beautiful rings in her locks. She has dark beautiful skin with blue eyes. She wears a white tight crop top with long sleeves, small black booty shorts that are high waisted. White socks that are pulled up with black converses on.
Helena has long ash brown/blonde hair that was tied up in a ponytail, with a blue ribbon in her hair. She has fair skin, with green eyes. She wears a black denim jacket with her sleeves rolled up, a white tight shirt with the end tied up in a knot, a high waist blue skirt with the teams symbol on them. She has black high heel boots on as she sucks on a lollipop.
Veronica laughs at you, her giggles echoing through the halls giving you a headache already.
“Aww, did the retard drop her books?” She says with a fake smile, her teeth showing off. Her minions next to her giggles copying her every move.
You narrow your eyes at her, as you lean down to collect your books. She then kicks you down to the floor, your cheek meeting the cold hardwood. She laughs wildly as she then pushes you away from her.
“You’re such a freak!” One of her minions, Caroline laughs at you.
“No wonder why you can’t laid, no one wants to have a freak obsessed with them.” Veronica says as Caroline and Helena screech of laughter.
You groan as you turn around, trying to get back up but Veronica kicks you again. Her heel stabbing you, pain washes through your whole body.
“Such a fatty!”
“Fat-Ass!”
“Ugly bitch!”
“Slut!”
“Freak!”
“Whore!”
All these words echo through your ears, their laughter fading in and out. Everything starting to become a blur of a mess. Blood creeping out of your nose with bruises beginning to arise on your skin.
You hear loud noises all around you, you can’t tell what they are. It’s so blurry and a loud buzzing noise echoes through your ears. The pain encountering every second.
You then black out.
~*~*~
You enter the door to your home, glad to be here than there. You hiss as you feel the pain in your side begin to sob. You try to ignore the pain as you then walk up to your room, trying and not wanting to be noticed.
“Ah, Y/N. I want you to meet our new guest.” You hear your brother say, you turn around seeing a red haired boy. He smiles devilishly at you with interest.
“Hiya gorgeous, I’m Jerome.”
You raise a brow then smirking a little bit. “I never met a criminal before, what’s your cool code name?” You ask with curiosity. He chuckles at you as he stares darkly at you.
“You can call me your master.” He winks making you chuckle at him, Theo frowns at the red haired boy as he then quickly changes the subject.
“Now, Y/N. I want you to be nice to our new guest. As they’ll be here for awhile.” Theo says as you nod at him. Theo then notices the blood on you. “Y/N, why is there blood on your pants?”
You turn around to face your brother with annoyance. “I got into a fight at school, nothing happened.” You say making Theo frown.
“You know you shouldn’t bring attention to yourself like that, you know better.” Theo says firmly. You sigh as you nod, putting your head down. “Go and clean yourself up.”
You walk your way to the stairs as you then run towards your room, closing the door behind you. You throw your bag against the wall in anger, ripping your hoodie off to see your bruises and cuts.
A black eye, a cut lip, bruised cheeks, you hated it. You screamed as you then punched the wall next to you out of anger. If only you could get revenge, but you know you’re not allowed too.
“God I hate my fucking life!” You yell as you then fall onto your bed, so much hatred filled your bones.
They deserve to get punished, especially since they think you a Galavan is a low life scum?! No! You’re better than them! You are a Galavan, who the fuck do they think they are?
You then sit up with a dangerous smirk, your eyes turn dark as you then giggle. You know how you can get your revenge. And it’s so simple.
You get changed out of your bloody clothes and into something better. You wear a black crop top with a star on the straps, a black leather jacket, black skinny jeans with black cargo boots. You put your hair up in space buns then you walk out of your room to find the ginger boy.
Once your eyes landed on him, you smirk.
“Hey, Clown Boy.”
He turns to face you with confusion, all you can do is smirk at him.
“I’ve got some business we need to do.”
~*~*~
Dimmed lights appear above the old rusted rooftop, flashing and flickering out with a small buzzing noise. Dust flies everywhere around the old abandoned house.
Moaning and groaning can be heard, muffled and softly.
Her eyes flutter open softly, adjusting to the harsh lights on her delicate eyes. She moans as she tries to move, but she can’t. She tries again, still nothing. She then begins to panic. Her muffled cries covered by duct tape over her lips. She looks down seeing that she’s tied up to a chair.
She frantically looks around seeing her minions there too. Helena and Caroline. Veronica begins to panic again as she struggles to get free.
“God, I’m bored. Can we do it now?” A voice echoes through the warehouse. The three girls look up trying to find who the mystery person is.
“Quit saying you’re bored, or I’ll find a way to entertain you.” A male’s voice echoes, sounding more closer and closer to the girls.
The first person laughs, chuckling with a sinister smile. They then enter the light. You enter with Jerome, you smirk at him as you roll your eyes.
“Bite me.” You say with a daring look in your E/C eyes. Jerome snaps his head towards you as he throws out a laugh.
“You know I will.” He threats with a flirty stare, a look of lust enters his eyes.
You smirk. “Is that a threat or a promise?”
“You’re a hell of a tease, gorgeous.” He says. You stare into his dark eyes falling deeper and deeper to his charm. You wanted him so bad.
The three girls scream, ruining your moment together. You and Jerome turn to stare at the three girls, you then chuckle sinister at them.
“Oh, I completely forgot that we had guest here.” You say sarcastically. You then smirk as you skip your way towards Veronica, she looks at you terrified as she tries to move away from you. You remove her duct tape from her lips as you stare at her.
“Y/N! What are you doing? Please let us go!” Veronica begs you, causing you to laugh, a laugh that hasn’t been heard leaving from your mouth before.
You then turn around to face her clearly. A dangerous smirk enters your lips.
“Hmm? What am I doing? Well you see.” You walk around her, “I'm done with your bittersweet tragedy. It's no fun, when I'm sitting all alone. I’m taking the abuse from your pathetic low life. And I’m sick of it! I want you dead!” You scream at her making her scream no. You then place the duct tape around her mouth again.
You and Jerome grab a syringe filled with poison. You then stab the three girls making sure to do it slowly. They scream, muffled so no one can hear them.
You and Jerome’s laughter echoes through the abandoned warehouse.

Hey love! Thanks for this amazing prompt. I hope you wanted this ficlet with a good amount of spice...

_____
The moment she steps onto the roof, Peeta spots her.
She is circling the space with her roommates; the sharp-tongued woman with blunt bangs and crimson lowlights and the blue-eyed blonde wearing a crown of flowers. His roommate, Gale, had a one-night thing with the blonde. Peeta can still remember the muttered moaning of her name through the thin walls of their apartment: Madge…Madge…Madge…
Peeta drinks from his red cup, trying to quietly observe the girl in the middle. She’s wearing a cropped jean jacket and a shift burgundy dress with embroidered straps. The ankle boots lengthen her rich-colored legs and he wonders, albeit briefly, what he would see if a sudden gust of wind were to sweep through.
However, it’s summer in the city.
Balmy and warm, the sun just going down and it’s practically another day.
“Peeta!” He turns, spotting Finnick, his other roommate, and Annie, Finnick’s girlfriend. It’s his friend’s birthday and a possible engagement party. Annie doesn’t know, but Peeta and Finnick just picked up the ring from the jeweler this afternoon. “Why are you hiding in the corner?”
“You know that I’m not the party type,” he tells them with a smile. Peeta eyes his friend. “So…anything interesting going on?”
“Not quite,” Finnick responds, throwing an arm around Annie’s shoulders. “Maybe a little later.”
Peeta nods, trying to suppress his smile. It’s not often that his friend is uncertain; he’s known Finnick since they were in diapers and his bronze-haired friend has always moved forward, unafraid of what was ahead of him.
However, when it comes to Annie, the man is total mush.
“You need to circulate,” Annie tells him, her green eyes full of kind concern. “It’s been a year since Delly.”
“Who’s Delly?” comes a brash voice.
They all turn to find the woman with red hair standing before them.
And, right next to her is—
“Katniss!” Annie is rushing towards the pretty girl to give her a hug. Then she goes to Miss Blunt Bangs, embracing her as well. “Johanna!”
They all pull apart and Annie introduces them to Finnick and Peeta.
“I’ve seen you before on campus,” Finnick says to Katniss—Peeta is already in love just hearing her name. “You’re a voice major, right?”
Katniss nods. “Yup, but more song writing and composition than singing.”
“Well, you should talk to Peeta here.” Finnick waves at hand at him, clover eyes sparkling. He knows Peeta well enough to identify when he’s interested in something…or someone. “He’s exceptionally talented when it comes to playing. I don’t think there’s an instrument that he hasn’t experimented with.”
Katniss turns, grey almond-eyes on him. “I’ve seen you around before.”
“I don’t go to Juilliard,” Peeta stammers out.
“No!” She grins and he finds himself smiling back at the way her face completely blooms with loveliness. “I’ve seen you sitting on this roof. You play out here sometimes.”
“Yeah, Katniss has been mini-spying on you,” Johanna informs him.
“Really?” He eyes her and Katniss’ cheeks color—geez, now she’s even more gorgeous. “I’m flattered.”
“I actually live over there—” Katniss points to the adjacent building. It’s at few floors higher, but just enough for someone to look over and see clearly onto their roof. “—sometimes I go up to write or to look at the stars.”
“Don’t lie to the man,” her friend retorts, earning a glare. “At least tell him that you’re a little hot for him holding a guitar.”
“Johanna—” Annie thankfully interrupts. “Thresh has been looking for you.”
“I gave him a blowjob last month and he’s been hitting me up ever since,” she replies. Looking over at Katniss, Johanna winks. “Have fun with your mystery man.”
The two girls walk off, leaving Finnick, Peeta, and Katniss standing together.
“Oh!” Finnick looks around. “I think I better make sure that we still have enough ice and prepare for my birthday speech.” He pats Peeta on the back. “Have fun.”
“I don’t think I’ve seen a more obvious setup,” Katniss tells him when they’re finally alone.
“They mean well,” Peeta replies. “At least, Annie and Finnick do. Johanna is a bit of a mystery.” He looks over to the bar. “Did you want a drink?”
“Sure.” They head to the bar; Peeta tries to keep cool as Katniss joins his side. Their hands are a muscle movement away from touching and he stiffens his hand. “I’d love a Corona and lime.”
“Very summer of you,” he replies before requesting it from the bartender. “How do you know Annie?”
The bartender places the tall neck bottle, placing the lime wedge at the opening, before handing it to Katniss.
They find their way to a spot at the far corner of the party and settle down together on a lone bench. Finnick is talking to the DJ and he sees Annie talking to Madge, whose arm is around Gale’s waist. Johanna has found Thresh and they are dancing, both decently tearing up the floor.
It’s the perfect summer night.
“She works with Johanna,” Katniss explains. “I think they’re EAs for the two CEOs, so they’re always working together. I’ve known Johanna my whole life. When I found out I got into Juilliard, I didn’t hesitate to ask her to come with me. She didn’t hesitate to say yes. Her home life was less than ideal.”
“That sucks.” Real smooth, idiot. His tongue is so tied around her, but Peeta takes a breath and searches for another topic. “How about you? What’s your family life like?”
“I have one sister. Sweetest girl you’ll ever know.” Her smile goes soft and sad, lost in thought. “My Dad passed away when I was five.”
“I’m sorry.”
His hand goes unconsciously to hers resting between them. Peeta motions to pull away, but her fingers entwine with his.
Their eyes meet, silently agreeing that it feels right.
“It’s fine. He was sick for a long time,” Katniss explains. “When I was 12, my mom met Haymitch and we all kind of loved him from the start. They got married when I was 13 and have been thoroughly happy ever since.” She moves closer. “And you? Tell me about your family.”
“My Dad’s a businessman,” he starts. “Have you heard of Mellark Bakery?”
“Yeah, they have that huge factory across the bridge,” Katniss replies. “Your Dad work there?”
Peeta holds out his free hand, wondering if he should have open this can of worms. However, if this is going anywhere (is it too early to propose?), he should probably tell her about his family.
“Nice to meet you. Peeta Mellark.”
Katniss let out a laugh, putting down her Corona to shake his hand.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know I was meeting with a son of industry!”
“My Dad is actually pretty cool,” he tells her. “He’s always been very encouraging and supportive of me and my older brothers, Emmett and Noel. Emmett is an artist and Noel is a chef.”
“And your mother?”
“Pretty opposite.” Katniss squeezes his hand, listening intently. “She’s a society woman. Very beautiful, but very cold.”
“Oh, she is going to hate me,” Katniss replies.
Peeta grins at her words. “Already planning to meet the parents?”
“Of course. We’ve connected, you know?” she proclaims. “Now that I’ve seen you up close, there’s no going back.”
“And your family?” he counters. “Would they like me?”
“They’re going to love you,” she says, her grey eyes on him. “You seem so easy to care for.”
Peeta looks at his feet, overcome by her words. “How do you know?”
“Last month, I was coming home from school and you were walking out of your building. There was a little old woman coming out of her taxi and she seemed to be struggling to even open the door. So, you opened the door for her, and you helped her set up her walker on the sidewalk. Then, you paid for her cab and helped her inside your building. Nobody does shit like that anymore. Everyone always seems to be looking out for themselves, nowadays.”
“Mags has lived here the longest, so she’s kind of building royalty,” Peeta explains. “Also, her husband died a while back and she has no kids. The people in this building are her family and we take care of one another.”
“I like that,” Katniss tells him.
“I like you,” he blurts out. “I mean, if it hasn’t been obvious enough.”
Katniss doesn’t respond, but she shifts a little bit closer to him as she stares into his eyes.
“Do you want to get out of here?”
Peeta is intrigued by her abruptness. “What did you have in mind?”
She pulls him by his hand to stand up. He rises and their chests brush against one another. It is brief, but it is enough to light a fire in his belly at the feel of peaked nipples against his thin flannel button-down.
“We’re going stargazing.”
++++++
“For some reason, Johanna has a deal with the maintenance crew in the building,” Katniss recounts as they step onto the roof of her apartment complex. “No one else but myself, Johanna, and Madge are allowed up here.” She leads him over to a set of lounge chairs. “I don’t really know what kind of deal she cut, and I’ve never bothered to ask.”
“That’s probably for the best,” he tells her. “Are you allowed to bring people up here?”
“I’m pretty sure that Johanna and Madge have brought guys up here before.” Katniss turns to him, her eyes glowing under the light of the moon. “You are the only person that I’ve ever brought here…the only person I want to bring here.”
Peeta isn’t sure if it is the moon…or the Corona…or the heat of the night…but something dances inside his chest, telling him to go to her. Her eyes are on him, hunger so intense in them that there is nothing he could do but go to her. Katniss follows suit, marching towards him with determination.
A groan escapes her lips at the feel of him hard against her pelvis. “Peeta, please…”
They meet in the middle of the roof, breaths heavy and Katniss reaches to cup his cheek. His arm rounds her slender waist, pulling her close to let her feel what she does to him.
“What would you like?” he asks, voice roughened with need. His free hand moves along the lines of her body and she whines, pressing closer to him. “Tell me what you want, Katniss.”
“I want you to kiss me.” Katniss’ mouth grazes against him and he nearly crumbles at the feel of heat between her legs. “Then, I want you to fuck me until we both see stars.”
His mouth is on hers, slotting them together. He sucks harshly at her upper lip as her hands reach for him, holding his face in place as she bites at his lower lip. They both moan into one another, tasting lime and alcohol and the fire between them.
Katniss moves them towards one of the chairs, her hands traveling down and reaching to the buttons of his shirt as her tongue sweeps into his mouth. His own hands move to yank at her jean jacket until she shrugs it off.
“Touch me, Peeta,” she says into his mouth. His shirt has been tossed to the ground and her hands roam unabashedly against his heated skin.
Peeta reaches for the hem of her dress and Katniss complies, lifting her arms up so he could pull the dress over her head. Once it is off, he steps back and looks at the beautiful woman under the summer moon.
Every inch of her skin is caramel and Peeta licks his lips ravenously as his eyes rove over lush breasts with rosy nipples…the graceful dip of her waist…full hips…and nude mesh panties that cover a thatch of dark hair.
“You are beautiful,” he rasps.
Katniss slowly sits down on the lounger, resting back. Her chest heaves, nipples pointed in the warm air, as she waits expectantly for him.
Peeta kneels before her. Carefully, he takes her boots and places them next to the lounger. Then, he is at her center, mouthing her through the mesh and sampling the honey pleasure of her core. Her hands go to his hair, fingers running through his hair and nails scratching at his scalp as he sucks and tongues her through the scrap of nothing.
“Fuck! Peeta!” Her wails are like gold and he moans, vibrating against her cunt. “More, please!” He moves the scrap of cloth away from her quim and plunges his tongue inside her. “Oh my God!”
Part of him is thankful for the party next door, the vibration of music sheathing her cries in the air. Peeta loves the sound of her, unabashed in showing him how good she feels. Katniss pushes herself against his tongue, legs wrapping around his head as she humps his face.
He is drenched in her; his new favorite drink for a summer’s night.
Peeta’s hands move to his jeans, unbuttoning and unzipping them quickly.
Pulling away, Katniss whines at the motion until she sees his pants undone. Her eyes, already smoky, have gone obsidian at the sight and he pushes his briefs down, his erection jutting out.
She sits up, one hand pressed to the seat as the other reaches to his length, wrapping her fingers around him. Her thumb moves to the mushroomed head, spreading the precum and he almost seizes at the sensation.
“You’ve given me what I want,” she tells him, her hand stroking him slowly. “What do you want?”
“I want to show you the stars,” Peeta replies, his hand reaching to her panties and she lifts her hips, letting him slide them off until it joins their pile of discarded clothing. He stands before her, reaching for the waist of his jeans and boxers before pulling them off in one motion. His shoes and socks followed, joining her boots.
He stands before her, naked and obviously wanting.
Katniss lays back, pushing herself up onto her elbows, admiring the sight before her.
“I did watch you from here,” she says, her voice strained. “You’d fiddle with your guitar and I’d fiddle myself.”
The image of Katniss, hands on herself…fingers dipping into that dripping cunt is just too much.
Peeta falls to his knees, yanking her down until ass is at the edge of the chair, the backs of her legs pressing along his front.
Then, in one motion, he thrusts roughly into her sodden quim.
The moment Peeta slides into her, her whole body growls.
He can feel her contracting around him and he begins to move, savoring the feeling of being surrounded by her slick. Peeta leans down and their lips meet, her body practically folding in half so he can taste her.
Katniss moans into their kiss, tasting her essence against his tongue as they move against one another. The chair creaks under the pressure of their fucking and he can’t imagine that it feels very comfortable.
He attempts to lift her in-between thrusts, but Katniss frantically shakes her head.
“No, just like this,” she gasps into his sweaty skin. Her legs spread away to wrap around his waist. “Won’t be long now…”
She feels too good, silk and sopping around his cock. Her grip on him is the perfect pressure and as he thrusts, Katniss arches up, bottoming out.
“Holy fuck, you’re amazing,” he groans. “There is no way in hell that I’m letting you go now.”
Hell, Peeta is already convinced that this woman with the dark waves and smoky eyes is the woman that he’s going to marry. In his mind’s eye, he already imagines her in a white dress…carrying her over the threshold of her dream home…of fucking her against every wall of the house…of filling her to the brim until she’s swollen with his child.
“Don’t let me go,” Katniss cries out, her insides beginning to flutter around him, and he juts his cock shallowly knowing that he’s going to spill inside her at any moment. “I wanted you since the moment I saw you…fuck….oh…” Her muscles pulsate around him and her pelvis rises to meet his thrusts.
Her cries are swallowed into the starry sky above them and Peeta watches her in the beauty of her climax. Her hair flows behind her, her skin glistening, and she’s smiles up, her eyes full of love.
She’s watching him, jaw clenched, as the sky above is suddenly illuminated by fireworks, creating a halo around him.
Peeta comes undone, filling her, his pelvis pressing to hers until he is spent.
After, he lays, pillowed against her chest, her hand smoothing down his mussed hair.
“I see stars…” she whispers against him.
“Annie must have said yes,” he explains. “I picked up the ring with Finnick today.”
Katniss snorts. “When Finnick does something, he goes hard.”
“So do I,” he tells her.
She kisses the top of his head. “What do you mean by that?”
“You’ll see.”
They are married three months later.

Rating: M for language & dark themes in later chapters.
Chapter Fifteen
“It’s him.” Ron says darkly, praying Harry can keep him out.
Bill is rushing to the floor to help the writhing boy, until Ron’s shouts stop him, “no!” He warns making him stop.
The entire room freezes at the yell as the ginger takes it upon himself to fall to his knees and console Harry. Carefully, he shakes his shoulder and turns him over, just trying to make him comfortable.
“A pillow! Someone get me a pillow!” He instructs pointing wildly to the sofa.
Someone, Fleur, he thinks, places a crocheted pillow onto the floor as Ron takes the liberty to prop the cushion under Harry’s frantically shaking head.
“Come on Harry. Come on mate. Fight it.” He pleads quietly from his spot above his thrashing friend.
And like Harry heard, he complies. His body begins to relax as the jolts of pain subside into a dull ache and subtle twitch.
“Harry.” Ron says gently.
As he floats back into consciousness, the chosen one's hand finds the scar on his forehead, which is now brandished into a cold sweat. Without realizing it, he groans, the memories of what occurred coming back to him.
The ginger takes notice of the sounds of pain pushing past the dark haired boy's lips and dares to question it, “Harry, what is it? What did he want?”
One word it’s all the Boy-Who-Lived can manage and it’s enough to evoke an immense amount of fear throughout the room. But none more prevalent than in Ron.
“Hermione.” Harry all but cries out, as his green eyes meet wide blue ones.
...
Once the dizziness passes along with the urge to be sick, the first thing that resonates is the ground. It’s hard and cold, sending a chill down her spine. The next thing is the darkness. She can see virtually nothing. Her hands viciously scour the stone for any sense of where she is.
The roughness of what appears to a book rubs against her palm. Seemingly forgetting her situation, she pulls it close, that is until a voice breaks her reverie.
“Lumos.” Bellatrix spits out as the edge of her wand ignites a small light.
Quickly, almost instinctively, Hermione cowers into the corner, the book, whatever it is, hidden between her body and the wall.
“I am tired.” The witch regards, eyes roving over to Greyback who shuffled outside the small chambers confining Hermione.
Lestrange however, was hovering over her scarily, “traveling with such dead weight takes a toll on me.”
Without realizing it, Hermione scowled at the comment. Bellatrix acted as if she was begging to join them.
And then before she could realize what was happening a terrible pain blossomed over her rib cage. The very spot where the dark haired witches heeled boot had seemingly kicked her.
“You ought to learn to teach me with respect, Mudblood! You should be grateful, such filth is usually prohibited from a place so sacred.” She shrieks, spitting wildly as she does.
At the words Hermione does allow a moment to try and piece together where she is. It’s no use, all she can make out is four walls of dreadful grey stone and a cut out for an iron barred door. She just prays that there’s a window to offer light in the morning.
Her voice drops, “now I shall leave you. You are of no use to me now as it is too late to disturb the Dark Lord. You better rest Muddy, you have a big day tomorrow” she giggled madly, turning to the just outside the iron bars.
Her eyes flick to where Greyback is standing, he’s grinning and licking his lips as his dark eyes bore into hers. Hermione squirms uncomfortably.
Satisfied with the interaction Bellatrix slams the door, then saunters away, Fenrir in tow, as she hums to herself.
Finally finding her strength, Hermione slings herself at the iron bars, ignoring how the impact hits her ribs she screams.
“Let me out!” The seventeen years old yells.
Bellatrix stops dead in her tracks. Greyback does the same, but she waves him to go on.
Stepping over with her dimly lit wand, she faces Hermione, noses almost touching through the rungs.
“I can’t help you.” The tears finally hit as the brunette cries to her captor.
Then, Bellatrix points her wand right at Hermione’s throat. Frightened, she tries to protest but soon realizes words can’t come out.
Frantically, she grabs at her throat, she can’t manage anything but pitiless heaves.
“Save your voice Mudblood.” Lestrange smiles, “there will be plenty of time to scream tomorrow.” She pauses, “better yet, the Dark Lord will make you sing.”
At this, the light fades out leaving a horrified Hermione behind.
It just hit her, tomorrow she’d do the most terrifying thing in her life. Something that Harry has done a multitude of times and barely made it out alive, even with a wand.
Tomorrow she would face Voldemort.
Collapsing against the wall, she sobs into her hands. Praying that this is all some sick twisted dream and soon enough she’d wake up on her camp bed in Ginny’s room.
Her cries are silent, prevented by Bellatrix’s silencing spell, she just wishes she could scream.
Scream for her ill grandmother. Scream for the fact she can’t remember the last time she saw her parents. Scream for Harry, that another bad thing happened to him. Scream for Ron, for treating him the way she did. For never saying goodbye, to say what she wanted to.
Crying for who knows how long, Hermione finally collapses completely, letting her body drop onto the floor.
She prepares for her head to make an impact with the cold stone, instead, it falls on top of hard, rough, and worn cloth.
Picking up her heavy head, she feels at the thing. Parts of it are torn, the edges frayed with what seems to be wrapping paper.
Then it hits her.
This is Ron’s gift. She must’ve grabbed it when they apparated.
Scrambling to her feet, with the thing she assumes to be a book in her hands, she goes to the bars. There’s a faint glow from a candle down the hallway and if she strains her eyes hard enough she can vaguely make out the words on it.
Hogwarts, A History,
She swears she reads in thick black letters.
Not that she’s ungrateful, but it’s a peculiar thing to gift her when he knows she has her own copy. Nevertheless, she opens the book, slapping her in the face is a long body of black messy scrawl. That which she knows to belong to Ron.
It’s loopy and barely legible, especially under the lack of light. The only thing she can make out are words like, sorry, Christmas, her name, and the word forgive.
It’s not much but her eyes are strained to the point of hurt. Her tears absently stain the pages as she flips through the book, slowly she begins to realize that on each margin are little notes. They’re too small to read in the darkness, but she knows the writing to be Ron’s.
She soon remembers a fifth year version of herself crumpled under a window, with Ron at her side. She recalls telling him she’d love it if he read Hogwarts, A History, and much to her disappointment all Ron said was: ‘I’d need a bloody good reason to pick this thing up.’
Yet, he had.
Falling to the floor again, the book clutches in her arms like a teddy bear, she goes to speak aloud.
Realizing she can’t, she repeats the words in her head over and over, praying that by some miracle they’d get back to him.
Come find me.
Soon she finds exhaustion, her head filled with nothing but those three words and fiery red hair.
Not even realizing she fell asleep, Hermione wakes up to loud footsteps coming down the nearby steps.
She isn’t sure how much time has gone by. If it’s daytime, she wouldn’t know, there’s just black around her.
Whoever is approaching has a lit candle as they stomp into the room.
“Get up.” A voice hisses.
Hermione doesn’t move.
“Get up now or I’ll come in there.” As he steps forward, she notices a metal hand coil around the door and throws it open.
The sight that meets her is a hunch backed, disgusting looking man. The witch even opens her mouth to say his name, but nothing comes as the silence charm remains.
Peter Pettigrew walks in and grabs her arm roughly, forcing her on wobbly feet.
“Bet you didn’t think you’d see me again did you?” Wormtail was clearly feeling rather confident, usually he was cowering somewhere.
She wanted to tell him that she was surprised he was trusted with such a difficult task, but was physically unable to.
Before she knew it, Wormtail had led her up a flight of stairs and what seemed to be a space as large as a ballroom. Above was a lavish chandelier, but it was covered in dusk. As was everything else in the room.
Too busy taking in the dark wood floor, she failed to notice the figures lurking in the corners.
“Ah Wormtail, thank you for gathering our guests.”
He bowed, his cowardly behavior soon returning, “of course my Lord.” Peter said shakily.
And then suddenly, the coldest, soulless eyes she’s ever seen find her own.
Slowly, the pale figure comes toward her and begins circling her like a shark would to its prey, his snake following.
“I’ve heard much about you, Mudblood.” Voldemort spits.
She says nothing. Even if she could, she doesn’t want to.
“No greeting? That’s no way to treat someone superior to your filthy blood.” He says angrily.
Hermione opens and closes her mouth, unable to speak, looking much like a fish gasping for air.
Nearby, Narcissa Malfoy seems to take note and takes sympathy for the girl.
“Bella the silencing charm.” She nudges her sister.
“Oh!” Bellatrix exclaims stepping forward, “excuse me my lord, the thing is under a silencing charm.” She bows nervously to her master.
At this he flicks his wand and dismisses Lestrange with a wave of his unkempt, dirty hands.
“You may speak now.” He tells Hermione.
Again, she doesn’t want to.
“Cat got your tongue? I had you yelling last night.” Bellatrix pipes up, stepping behind Voldemort.
Then, You-Know-Who raises his wand at her and just as she shuts her eyes waiting for the impact, something stops him.
“Sorry we’re late my lord.” Fenrir Greyback sounds from the fireplace, bowing as he says this.
Behind him are two death eaters. One she doesn’t recognize, but is known as Scabior. The other, she does know.
“Beautiful.” Scabior comments before he can help it.
She cowers under their dark gazes.
“Seems as if someone remembers you Dolohov.” Greyback comments with a grin, speaking to the other man.
He steps forward, making Hermione stumble back, causing laughs to fill the room.
“It seems as if you’ve forgotten,” Voldemort’s voice booms, making them all stop, “but the thing is mine first and foremost.”
Choruses of agreements sound the room as a few of them offer a low bow.
In a nearby corner Lucius Malfoy whispers to his wife to go upstairs. A request she’s more than happy to fulfill, not wanting to see what’s to come.
“Now, address me properly and tell me what you know filth.” He demands of Hermione.
She stands up tall, chin pushed forward and proud look on her face. She says nothing.
“I thought I’d taken the silence charm off of you, no matter, Bellatrix, would you do the honors?” He asks the eager woman.
“Of course my lord!” She leaps at the chance, “Crucio!” The witch bellows.
A stream of red light shoots to Hermione and she falls to the floor in pain. The witch does her best not to make any noises, biting her lip so hard she draws blood in the process.
Soon, the effects of the curse die down as Voldemort comes over and presses his barefoot to her cheek, pushing it into the floor.
“Tell me what you know Mudblood!” He screams at her.
Briefly, she peers into his sunken eyes.
At the sight, Hermione’s mind flashed to that book. The one she found on prefect rounds late one night whilst escaping from Ron. It was buried behind several books, in the restricted section.
She knew how wrong it was, she shouldn’t even have been there, but she couldn’t help it, like it was calling to her. And for some odd reason, Hermione just knew a boy who once went by the name of Tom Riddle had picked up this very book. The very man standing in front of her now. Or what’s left of him anyway.
Surely he couldn’t be talking about the horcruxes? Could he? How would he even know she knew such a thing?
Despite that, she remains strong and silent despite the curse.
Then, he crouches to the floor. Running one long nail, he pushes back her wild hair to see tears streaming her face.
“So you don’t want to talk then?” He whispers sourly.
Hermione remains perfectly still.
“Nevertheless, you’ll be screaming.” The dark wizard says with a venomous smirk before standing.
“Crucio!” He yells.
And like his magic is stronger than Bellatrix's, the curse feels ten times more intense. It feels like her body’s burning from the inside out. And before she can help it, she screams.
A horrible sound.
As the effects of the curse wear off, the dull buzz in her ears fades, but the pain remains.
“Want to talk now?” Voldemort asks, circling her again as the room smiles at the scene.
Tears absently run down her cheeks as she manages the strength to shake her head. She has to stay quiet, for Harry, for Ron, for the entire fate of Wizarding Britain.
“Very well,” he raises his wand again, she braces for the impact, “Cruc-”
Before the words can leave his mouth, a loud thud sounds as Hermione’s blurry vision clears and she makes out someone writhing next to her, like she was moments ago.
Bellatrix rushes over, placing her hands atop Voldemort’s trashing form.
And Hermione knows that somewhere, Harry is doing the exact same thing. She just prays whatever he sees, will lead them right to her.

Emma is happy. Finally happy with her parents, son and boyfriend. But this happiness is taken away from her when the Evil Queen curses her and turns her into a toddler.
Heartbroken and angry, Killian and Henry run away to Neverland to wait for Emma to break her curse.
But when she does break it and comes looking for them 25 years later, she soon realises this Neverland is very different now it is no longer under Pans rule.
Will she be able to save Henry and Killian in time, or will this new ruler of Neverland keep them hostage forever?
Hi all here is the newest chapter in Neverland fic and it is angsty from here on out ;)

“So I still don’t understand why she wants to keep the two of you?” Snow asks the next morning at Henry’s treehouse.
Killian and Henry look at one another, “You want to tell them the truth, Lad, or should I?”
Henry looks over at his family, “It’s my blood that has allowed us to stay for so long, I’ll tell them.”
“Blood? Excuse me?” Emma asks ready to murder the fairy.
“It’s okay love. Listen.” Killian says putting his hand on her back. It felt like normal again, with his hand finding the spot on her back that always managed to calm her. David and Snow were glad to see them all working together again.
“Gold told us that because I still have the heart of the truest believer, a few drops of my blood would restore the youthfulness of this place. So when we came here, I gave a few drops, but it needed more. I sorta passed out because a voice was telling me it needed more blood.” Henry explains, but seeing the look on his mother's face, he then quickly adds, “But I was totally fine, Killian saved me before it was too late. But now I think our time is running out, if I don’t give this Island more of my blood then the fairies can’t stay here and the magic will be gone.”
“Not too dissimilar from Pan then.” David comments. “So how do we defeat her?”
“I have a theory I’ve been sitting on for a while, but it’s dangerous, and I don’t want a repeat of History.” Killian says gesturing towards David.
“No. No. No.” Snow yells. “I almost lost my husband once, we can’t risk it.”
“It might be the only way.” David tells his wife. “Do you want to get off this Island as a family?”
“Okay someone fill me in please. Unless you forgot, I was not born when this happened!” Neal interrupts.
“Dreamshade.” Emma tells her brother. “It’s Neverland's most deadly poison. Dad got infected last time and almost died.” She turns back to Killian, “But the water saves you as long as you stay on the Island, so how does that help us?”
“Wait hold on-Dad got poisoned? And almost died?” Neal suddenly realises there is so much about his family that he didn’t know about.
“I have a concentrated dose on my ship that I’ve been working on. In theory, even if she does drink the water, she can’t leave, she cannot try and stop us.” Killian explains.
“A concentrated dose like the one you gave Gold in New York?” Emma asks, smiling fondly at the memory.
“Aye. Except, a much stronger dose. Hopefully to a fairy, the dose will reach her heart much faster than it did the Dark One.” He looks over to David and Snow. “I’m fully aware that it could go wrong and I don’t want to put you in any danger.”
“We’re aware of the danger, but it’s nothing we haven’t faced before. We can handle a fairy.” David says confidently.
“With all due respect Gramps, these fairies aren’t like blue or any of the other fairies in the Enchanted Forest or Storybrooke.” Henry explains, worrying about their newfound confidence. “In Neverland they play by different rules, they use dark magic, darker magic than mom used as a dark one.
_________
Cecelia was angry.
She didn’t like visitors. Especially if those visitors were the ones trying to take away the magic that kept her alive in her home.
She needed a way to stop her new visitors, especially the blonde who was taking the pirate away.
Normally she would spend her nights in Pixie Hollow with her sisters, but she had a feeling the blonde wasn’t going away. At the end of the night, she flew over to the Lost Ones clearing and what did she see? The blonde with Hook. This could not happen. She needed a plan to separate the two of them, get the blonde back to wherever she was headed, and keep Hook and the boy here.
—
Pan was a nightmare. He was ruining her Island, though he called it ‘his Island’. He had been here a hundred years and already the Island had changed, the pixie dust was running out, in another hundred years or so the Island would likely die. Pan was apparently searching for a boy that would save the Island, but Cecelia didn’t buy into it-prophecies are 99% of the time wrong, if this boy ever did show up she wonders if he would save the Island.
Thankfully Pan was not able to enter her safe haven. And neither could Tinkerbell since her wings and magic were gone. She could easily avoid her, and if she did see her again, what could the little green fairy do anyway she was powerless. But it did affect her access to fairy dust, he used most of it on his pack of Lost Boys who were typically using it to fight with real weapons, or use it to battle the Pirates that were now stuck on this Island.
Cecelia decided she was sick of hiding in Pixie Hollow, she wanted to see what Pan had done to her home, and see if she could stop it. That’s when she saw him for the very first time. The Pirate. With a Hook for a hand. He was dressed in all leather, a red vest with a large black leather coat and leather pants. He had scruffy black hair and eyes as blue as the sea in Neverland cove.
She transformed into human size so she could follow him. He was with another pirate, this one short and stocky, blue and white striped shirt and a red hat. Not nearly as gorgeous as the man with the silver Hook. She tried to understand what they were saying, something about a weapon, a dagger.
“The dagger is the only weapon that can defeat him. If I can get my hand on it I can skin myself a crocodile at last. I just need a way off this blasted Island.” The one with the Hook said, he sounded angry, whatever this crocodile was, was sure to be a force to be reckoned with.
“Even if Pan gives us a way off this Island, how do you plan on getting the dagger? Baelfire said-“ the shorter man begins to say before the Hooked pirate cuts him off.
“Don’t say his name.” Whoever this Baelfire was, he clearly made a lasting impact on the Pirates lives, the way he sounded upset by the thought of him.
“Sorry Captain. But say we get back to the Enchanted Forest, how do you plan on getting the dagger if he has it on his possession?” Ahh it made sense now, the Hooked Pirate was a Captain, the way the smaller one almost quaked with fear when speaking to him.
“I have a plan.”
One moment Cecelia is walking a fair few paces behind the two pirates, hiding in the darkness so they don’t see but still within earshot, and the next moment the leather clad Pirate had a dagger to her throat and her back against the nearest tree.
“Who are you and why are you following me?” The Pirate asks. It was the leather clad Hooked pirate, the smaller one had scurried ahead leaving just the two of them in the hot Neverland Jungle.
Cecelia laughs as she clicks her fingers and the dagger against her throat disappears and reappears in her own hand.
“A fairy.” The Pirate states, not asks, as he takes a step away from her.
“You know of my kind?” Cecelia asks him with a seductive smile.
“I’m not fond of fairies. Especially the ones I’ve met on this Island.” The Pirate sneers.
“Let me guess Tinkerbell?” Cecelia asks, she assumed Tink was the only fairy who would run into a pirate, but she couldn’t be sure, she needed to protect herself in case there was someone working for Pan who would report her.
The Captain laughs in a husky tone, “not a fan of her either I take it?”
Cecelia shrugs, “she’s not my friend, but she may see me as an enemy.”
“Whatever did you do to the poor girl?” The captain asks. He was very handsome, Cecelia had encountered many pirates in her life, yet none quite like this one.
“Well like Pirates I’m sure, a fairy never reveals her secrets.” Cecelia was flirting, the Captain was sure of it, so he decided to flirt back.
“Hmm secrets are a delicate thing. Is your name a secret too, or do I get the pleasure of knowing it?”
“Cecelia.” She replies with a glint in her eye. “And yours? I can’t just call you Captain now can I? Or would you like that?” She whispers the last part into his ear.
“Hook.” He tells her smirking as he uses his Hook to bring her closer.
“Clever.” She muses. “You’re a pirate, I assume you have a ship.”
“The Jolly Roger, she’s the most powerful in all the realms.”
Cecelia fondles with his Hook for a moment, “Would you like some company?”
Hook grins. “Are you offering?”
________
Her talk with the blonde Hook was in love with, didn't go down well as well as she had hoped. Cecelia threatened her, told her to leave and she didn’t. She was a stubborn stupid human, but she needed to take it to the next level.
Show her what Hook and her had, how it was nothing compared to what the blonde experienced with him in her land. She couldn’t kill the blonde right away, not with her whole family here. No, she needed to make her leave and she will get Verena to help kill them all if necessary.
____
The next two nights Cecelia watches the blonde with the Lost Ones. She sees how Hook looks at her, and how she looks at him. It makes her sick. The Lost Ones even look happy, they’re never happy. What was it about this girl that made her so special? Why of all the women, this plain girl was the apple of her Captains eye.
“You know you kissed me for the very first time right around here.” The Captain tells his blonde. She listens in, to see what she can find out, and what she can use against them.
“I remember. You were annoying me, I thought I would just kiss you to get you to shut up!”
“And you realised you’d made a huge mistake as you fell in love with me?” Cecelia couldn’t tell if he was teasing or not, their relationship was still a mystery.
The blonde hits him playfully, “you’re such an ass. If you recall your confession in the Echo Caves, you were the one you realised you couldn’t live without me.”
“Now, now Swan whose rewriting history. I am amazed that you still chose me, you love me after all I’ve done.”
The blonde runs her fingers through his hair, “hey. Stop. We talked about this, you’re not that man anymore, I fell in love with you because you chose to change, you said you wanted to be a better man and that’s exactly what you are. I don’t care what you did on this Island while I was cursed, it doesn’t matter, you’re still the man I fell in love with who risked everything for me, who is selfless and chooses to do the right thing.”
Cassandra turns away as they start to kiss, she doesn't need to see that. So, the Captain has insecurities, that she can take advantage of.
The Echo Caves.
Cass hadn’t heard of those in centuries. She knew Pan liked to use them to trap his unwelcome visitors, but she hadn’t known her Captain was a victim.
They were used in the olden times of Neverland to reveal the darkest secrets of fairies who were going bad and had to reveal the truths of their actions, but Pan ended up using it as a trap and to cause a rift between friends. And that’s exactly what Cecelia was going to plan. She would cause a rift by making them reveal their darkest secrets, and the blonde would go back home.
“Verena! Verena! Wake up!” Back in Pixie Hollow she decides to let her sister know of her plan, and how she can help her.
“The Echo Caves? Are you serious Cecelia?” Verena had heard the stories of the caves, how fairies were forced to reveal their darkest secrets and it was never pretty.
“Whose side are you on?” Cecelia was suddenly starting to doubt her sister, it wouldn’t be the first time.
“Yours obviously! But is it safe?”
“I heard the Pirate talking to the blonde, they went through it before when Pan was still in power. If it didn’t break them before, this time it will.” Cecelia feels confident, Hook had been here for 25 years all alone, his desires had clearly changed.
“So what’s the plan?”
_____
On the fifth night of watching the Pirate and his blonde, Cecelia decides this is the time to intervene. She’s sick of seeing Hook, a fearless and deadly Pirate turned into a “hero” by his lover.
The Lost Ones are finishing up, slowly disappearing back to their beds. Hook luckily is still in conversation with the young boy, the blonde however had finished talking to her lost girl, she was all alone.
Shrinking down to fairy size, she flies into the Lost Ones clearing, and freezes Hook and Henry before returning to human size.
“Cecelia.”
Cecelia smiles at the blonde, “the one and only.”
“What do you want? I already told you, I am not leaving this Island alone.” She was brave. But bravery almost meant stupidity.
“You and Hook just look so happy together. But I’m afraid he’s been keeping secrets from you.” She says, in a sweet but also malicious tone.
“What secrets?” Emma was convicted this fairy was just trying to mess with her head, Killian had been honest the past few days since they reconciled, no way would he be keeping secrets.
“I trust you’re familiar with memory magic?” Cecelia asks as a dream catcher appears in her hands.
Emma nods, all too familiar with dream catcher magic.
She watches as Cecelia makes the dream catcher glow as scenes of her in Neverland start to play out.
“I really don’t need to watch your life story.” Emma says rolling her eyes. But then.
Killian. She sees Killian in those memories. Well, he was in Neverland for 300 years and their paths were surely to cross. The dream catcher doesn’t have any sound, but she doesn’t need sound for what she sees next.
It’s Killian and Cecelia. Together. Lips on one another, bodies pressed together and legs tangled up.
Emma feels like she could vomit.
“You’re lying. This is, this isn’t true.” She manages to say, thoughts whirling around in her head.
Cecelia smirks. “You’re familiar with memory magic, you know how it works. I couldn’t tamper with it even if I wanted to. I guess Hook hasn’t been as honest with you as you thought, such a shame.”
Emma stands there for a few moments, resisting the urge to bring up everything in her stomach. Cecelia just flies away looking satisfied with herself.
“Everything alright love?” Killian appears a few minutes later, completely unaware of the situation.
“I don’t know. You tell me.” Emma feels betrayed, how could he do that to her?
“I’m not sure I understand love.” He says, giving her a puzzled look, “are you feeling okay? Want to take a sail on the Jolly, clear your mind a bit?”
“The Jolly? Where you’ve been fucking Cecelia? I’m good thanks.” She spats.
Killian is lost for words, “Emma what the hell are you talking about?”
Glaring at him, she tells him of Cecelia’s visit to her, and the memories she saw of the two of them.
“Emma, please understand. That was a long time ago. It-“
“Oh so you’re not denying it happened?” She cuts him off, how dare he.
“I would never lie to you Emma. But whatever she showed you, happened a long time ago, long before I met you.” This was all part of Cecelia's plan to drive them apart, Killian was sick of her tricks.
“Just because I was cursed doesn’t mean I’m stupid. How am I meant to believe it was before you met me?”
Killian takes a step toward her, to take her hand but Emma snatches away. “I can’t prove it, but you’ve gotta trust me.”
“I’ve been cursed for 25 fucking years, Hook. That doesn’t give you an excuse to fuck the first woman you see just because I’m not around.” Her voice was getting louder the angrier she was getting.
“Emma I love you. Don’t act innocent though, like you said you were cursed for 25 years, you’re telling me you didn’t jump into bed with a man that isn’t me?” Killian was now just as angry, sure it had been 25 years but he expected better of her.
Emma doesn’t answer his question.
“I thought you said you saw me in your dreams.” Killian says tremulously. “That you were always seeing me. Was that all a lie to get me to go back with you?”
“No! Of course not! I did see you in my dreams, but that’s the thing you were a dream. I had no idea who you were. But don’t change the subject, I was cursed I could sleep with as many men who weren’t you and it would be okay. You on the other hand, slept with the fairy while you were waiting for me. You clearly don’t love me, so I think If we defeat Cecelia, I’m taking Henry and my family back with me, you fsnnstau here I really don’t care.” Emma’s voice was wobbly she felt like the was about to burst into tears.
“Emma. I do love you, whatever she’s shown you is a lie. I never touched her while you were here, I would have never do that to you.”
He tries to call out after her, but it’s no use, she’s walking back to her camp angry and upset, he was going to kill the fairy.

Chapter 4: Attack of the Man Crab
Synopsis: During the promotion festival of a new water brand, a crab man submerges from beneath the sand to take away any victim in its sight. But it makes a complete 360, when you're the one who disappears, and Jay, your twin brother, is forced into a mystery to bring you back.
Series Masterlist
-----
The night had settled in, and the young couple took their time setting up the nets onto the blank beach.
“Can we go home already?” The girl rolled her eyes, and took a place on the bench nearby.
“I promised WonderWater we would have it set up for the volleyball tournament.”
“Fine, pass me some water.” The boy, trying to be as sweet as possible, handed her the bottle, but didn't have the reaction he planned for when she smacked it down.
“I only drink WonderWater!”
“You’re such a pain you know.” He turned back his attention on placing the last volleyballs inside the basket; it had to be perfectly tidy by tomorrow. In the meantime, nobody noticed the two pair of green eyes that emerged from the sand, and before long, a broad red crab pounced on the couple. With its left claw, it grasped the young girl making her cry out for help.
“Haha very funny Jane. This is some sick trap huh.” He had no intentions to believe her, but once her body had fully been engulfed into the sand, he began to dig and found nothing. Soon, the crab resurfaced; he had claimed his second victim.
------
“WonderWater! Get your gluten-free, fat-free, zero calorie WonderWater!” The mascot cheered out to the crowd, and meanwhile the teen mystery group had arrived at the volleyball tournament.
“Let’s get some nachos before the game!” Sunoo led the way to Jack’s Shack, a local beach food store that served food in every variety. It took a few steps to arrive, seeing as though it had been moved to the other side of the beach.
“Hey Jack!”
“What I can do for y’all?” He kept his attention at the cone in front of him, passing it on to the customer who had been there a while ago.
“The usual.”
“Hey Jack, isn’t your shack usually where the courts are?”
“Blasted council moves my shop every time, every damn time.” With a tone of anger, he aggressively started chucking at the pineapple, cutting it into cubes and placing it inside the container.
“Jungwon and I will head first to get some seats.” You grabbed Jungwon and dragged him over to the court, and the poor boy was confused by your sudden behaviour. Originally, you thought of explaining your lost heart confessions about Heeseung, but chose to stay quiet after a noticeable embarrassment.
Eventually, the other five boys made their way to you; their hands full of snacks to keep their short attention spans busy while the girls volleyball team began.
“Is that Jay?” You twisted your head forwards and saw him in the first row with the boy’s soccer team; he was proudly supporting the match, of course, probably for the pretty girls on the team.
“Tsk, he’s probably only here because it’s the girl’s volleyball team.”
Time elapsed, before a slow rumble began. The ground beneath you began to shake.
“Is that an earthquake?” Sunghoon managed to get a hold of the pole aside from him before taking his friends with him. Prioritizing the younger members, he helped Jungwon and Sunoo get a hold first, before reaching out to Jake.
Heeseung grabbed your shoulders, but managed to witness how the crab leaped from beneath. The whole beach was sent into a frenzy, and most had managed to run away. A young girl however was not as lucky. Her body was in the clutch of the crab’s claw, and it was swayed back and forth in a zigzag  pattern.
The creature had now disappeared once more.
------
“That was way too close.” You managed to hold yourself together as you stared at the younger duo bickering in front of the officer who questioned them over the incidents.
“And they say we’re too immature.” Sunghoon managed a small scoff and took a glance at the row of gym like lockers under the red tent. A blue name tag stamped (JACK) stood out to him; it caught his eye.
“Take a look.” Heeseung inspected the name tag, and when he attempted to open it, a pile of sand escaped from the locker and trailed onto the floor.
“I mean Jack would have a good reason to attack.”
“Come on, the only way to find out is to set a trap.” Heeseung gladly took the lead, managing to finally steal his friends away from the attention of the authorities.
------
“Y/n, you’ll be the bait. I mean what's more perfect than a young girl!”
“Finally, we won’t have to be the bait this time!” Jungwon jumped in delight and stuck his tongue out at you.
“You’re lucky I love you guys.” While you went away into the van to place on the bathing suit you had brought with you earlier, the boys got to work on the trap.
A large pot was placed smack in the middle, and a plunger attached to a spring was dug below.
“Sunghoon and Jake will stay on lookout by those rocks over there.” He pointed the direction towards the two mounted boulders on the edge of the pier.
“Jungwon, Sunoo, and I will be keeping an eye on Jack’s Shack.”
Meantime, you continued to struggle with getting dressed, but eventually you were successful. As you checked to make sure the suit was properly tied, you once more noticed the white bracelet in your hand. Jake.
You held it in your hand and walked onto the hot floor; it burned the soles of your feet. The bottle of sunscreen made its way to you, slathering your skin to avoid getting a slight sunburn. As you continued with your own thing, the same beady eyes popped over the sand, scanning your surroundings. It drew downward before springing onto you.
The bottle slipped from your hands, and your feet carried you towards the trap.
“Guys! The trap!” Sunghoon went forward to help you, but by mistake triggered the plunger below which sent him into the pot meant for the crab man.
“Y/n!” Heeseung came out from his hiding regime, and tried to reach for you but it was too late. Your body was swallowed whole in the sand, and the only thing Heeseung managed was the continuous motion of scraping the sand.
The white bracelet glistened under the sunlight; you were gone.
-------
“Heeseung..Heeseung...LEE HEESEUNG!” Sunoo’s continuous screams had no effect on the poor soul, his hands still attempting to dig at the floor beneath him.
“I think he’s broken.”
Jake kept his focus on the white bracelet in his hold; it was the last piece of you before the attack.
“I called Jay, he’s on his way.”
“This was my fault, if I hadn’t set off the trap.” RM gave them an apologetic look as he tried to comfort the other heartbroken boy who blamed himself.
A small ring erupted out of nowhere, and Jungwon opened the door, believing that it was Jay who had arrived. Instead, an envelope with the letters JK welcomed him.
He ripped the envelope open and dumped the belongings on the table; a piece of paper and a cassette tape were found.
BREAKING NEWS: TEENS GO MISSING (2001)
Below, was the photograph of the eight people who had disappeared.
“Let me see this.” RM looked at the photograph, a stern look appeared on his way, but made sure to not show it to the young group in front of him.
“Sunoo, play it.”
“Hello young ones. As you can see, this isn’t the first time kids have disappeared from Seoul. I suggest you start looking.”
Quiet glances took over the room, so when Jay had finally made himself welcome, he looked at the group oddly.
“Uh...Jungwon called me earlier, what’s up.” No one dared to respond, semi-afraid of the latter’s response.
“Y/n...sort of...kind of...got taken by the man crab from the attack at the tournament.”
“Nice one Jungwon. Is this because I stole y/n’s phone the other day?” No one bothered to look him in the eyes; the reality soon settled into Jay’s mind.
“How did this happen!?” His loud voice was almost as terrifying as the incident, but he sighed, cupping his face with his bare palms.
“We’ll find her. We just need a place to look. Grab Heeseung, come on.” Sunghoon’s stern look led the team his way; not bothering to snap Heeseung out of his trance, he threw him over his shoulder.
“Jay, you drive.”
-------
“So my sister is missing, and your response is to come to the school?” Clearly irritated, Jay stopped following the teens in front of him. He was desperate and tired; his sister was missing, how could he not be.
“Look Jay, we get your urgency, she’s our friend too…” Sunoo took a long pause before declaring his next statement, “If there is anything that we have learned from these mysteries, is that you got to attend to every clue before, and you gotta listen to others.”
They continued their way down the hall; the walls decorated in shelves with endless books and articles.
“Where are we anyway?” Jake tried directing his light to all the corners of the room, but found everything to be covered in dust.
“They call it the morgue. It’s where they keep all the archives of old articles.” Sunghoon pulled back the chair and got to work typing on the computer. Meanwhile, Heeseung took out one of the books, not caring much about the title.
“Y/n read a book once...she sat in a chair...she liked sitting in chairs.” Five heads abruptly looked at him; He was losing his mind.
“Not helping Heeseung.” Jay and Jake peered over Sunghoon’s shoulder to take a peek at his screen.
“The article of the missing kids, I found it.”
“On the night of twenty years ago, eight teens went missing from the Seoul Caverns. They were reported missing from their parents two hours before, but they vanished.”
“Seoul Caverns? They’re the ones that run under the beach. Scroll down.” Jay took hold of the mouse, moving down and two new articles appearing.
“Look it’s Mr.Wonder and James Lee, the day of the inauguration of Wonder Water.”
“But look there, Jack threatening the town because of his business. It’s time stamped with the same day as the kids went missing.” Small glances were given to one another, and like that they made their way to the next destination.
------
“You know, when they tell you teens have gone missing from the Seoul Caverns, it would usually be the last place you would take us, don’t you think?” Sunoo and Jungwon clinged onto one another, slowly following Jay who had also been pushed to the back.
“Nothing seems out of place?” Jake continued to lead the group through the caverns, stopping every few feet to investigate the surroundings.
“You ever think about how y/n has nice hair.” Heeseung continued to let out the occasional sigh, still walking like an empty zombie.
“Heeseung! Guys!” You managed to hear the voices of people and immediately knew it was your friends to the rescue.
“Sometimes I can still hear her voice.”
“That is her voice!” Jay bolted first towards the direction of your screams, and was met with you inside a cage with a couple and a member from the girl’s volleyball team.
“I’m so happy to see you guys!” You held your grip firm on the metal cage, slowly waiting as Sunoo managed to pick the lock and open it. Since the cage was dangling from the top, you crashed onto the ground.
“Y/n! You’re alright!” You gave the boys a smile; they clearly needed reassurement after having to stand Heeseung experiencing a life crisis.
“Here. You’re probably cold.” Jake extended his hand to give you his white hoody; taking it, you placed it over your body and responded with a “thank you.”
“Look what else I found!” Heeseung looked up and down with his eyes at the large wooden ramps connected to form an entrance to the beach.
“What kind of crab monster needs a bunch of ramps?”
“No crab man, I’ll tell you that.” As they thought of a plan to make their way out of the caverns, the crab man escaped from his hiding place, chasing them once more. Heeseung held your hand and brought you with him in the opposite direction as it was persistent on your trail. Jay led the younger members to the right, trying to find a way out. Meanwhile, Sunghoon and Jake directed towards the wooden ramps.
The crab man retook his grasp on your waist pulling you backwards.
“Get off her!”Heeseung made an attempt to give it a blow in the claw, and luckily Jay came to help.
“Push!” Jay and Heeseung each took one claw and managed to remove his firm grip.
“Hey ugly, over here!” Sunghoon and Jake frantically waved their hands in the air, trying to lure the monster into their direction. They were successful. The two sprinted with all their might up the platforms to the beach, trying to avoid the crab who was using its claws to break through the floorboards.
“Come on, this way.”  The rest of you hurriedly made your way out of the caverns, looking to help the two boys being chased.
“Jake the trap!” Sunghoon went first and they both ran to the opposite side, causing the crab to collapse on the plunger, and finally captured inside the pot.
-------
“Finally, you can’t escape anymore Jack!”
“Huh, what did I miss.” Jack, the owner of the food shack stepped out behind you.
“Then who?”
Sunghoon skipped towards the crab, and pulled the mask off of it.
“Meet James Lee. The mascot of WonderWater. I recognized the pattern of his freckles earlier in the article.”
“That’s right. WonderWater was MY creation! Mine! But Mr.Wonder stole my idea and with my engineering degree, I managed to construct the suit. If anyone came looking, everyone would have the right reasons to suspect Jack. And I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for you meddling consumers!”
Chief Kim did the usual, and placed the handcuffs on his wrists.
“Come on, let’s go to RM’s Studio!” You wrapped your arm with Jay and led the way.
-------
“So Heeseung, everyone told me how much paranoia you were in earlier.” You moved your two feet slightly waiting for a response.
“Yeah, but don’t worry. It’s the last time I’ll have feelings. Trust me.” Heeseung fled the conversation and entertained himself with the drumset.
“Y/n, you dropped this.” Jake plopped the white bracelet into your hold and left immediately as well.
“Is there anything else I missed? Well, besides Jay surprisingly joining you guys on a mystery.” Jay stopped mid mouthful as he was happily indulging in some snacks with Jungwon and Sunoo.
“JK dropped this off earlier.” Sunghoon handed you the same newspaper from earlier, and you gasped at seeing the front cover.
“What is it?”
“You know that locket I found in the caves, it’s them.” You compared the couple in the locket to two of the faces of the picture; they were the same.
“Guess JK is right. There is a deeper mystery.” The conversation quickly became muffled as RM shut off the hearing button from his recording studio. It was becoming worrisome and with a blank expression, he stared off.
Some things are not ready to be exposed.

'cause you're a sky, you're a sky full of stars
such a heavenly view
Their pride and joy had careened into their bedroom loudly at six o’clock in the morning – on a Saturday – to announce loudly that it was her birthday.
Roy groaned quietly in Riza’s ear, and she couldn’t hold back her own either. Her eyelids fought against her desire to open them, sleep keeping a tight hold on Riza that morning. Even cracked open to the bare minimum, Riza’s vision was blurred and her lids ached.
“Mia?” Roy sounded as tired as Riza felt. The mattress shifted as he sat up, removing his arm from around her waist. The warmth and security of his hold was missed immediately.
“It’s my birthday,” Mia sang happily, bouncing on the spot at the bottom of their bed as she broke out into a happy dance. The six-year-old was completely oblivious to the plight of her parents, too excited at what the new day would bring her.
“Mia,” Roy scolded lightly with a yawn. He rubbed his face tiredly, running his hands through his hair as he smacked his lips. “Listen, you need to quieten down,” Roy scolded her gently.
The dancing stopped. “Why?”
“Mummy is sleeping, and she needs to rest.”
Riza was really trying to wake up, but her body refused to cooperate. Sleep was beckoning her once more, not ready to give her up to the rest of the world just yet.
Rolling over, she struggled to lift her head. “No, it’s fine…” she mumbled.
“Oh…” Mia sounded guilty. “I… I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
“It’s all right, bear.” The use of her nickname softened Roy’s scold a little. “Come on, why don’t we go and talk in your room? Then we can let Mum sleep.”
“It’s… fine…” Riza sighed but was already drifting.
A hand was pressed to the top of her head. It ran through Riza’s hair then fell to the mattress behind her head. Then, Roy’s lips were pressed to her forehead.
“Get some more sleep,” Roy urged gently. “I’ll keep her entertained.”
The next time Riza woke, two hours had passed. She batted her eyes open, hearing Roy and Mia talking somewhere in the house. The latter sounded extremely excited as she chatted away happily, while she heard Roy’s laugh and the occasional yip from Hayate.
“Good morning, sleepy head,” Roy greeted with a smile as he spotted Riza entering the kitchen.
She shot him a tired smile in response, but still made a beeline for Mia and crouched by her chair. Cupping her six-year-old’s face in her hands, Riza grinned at her daughter. “Happy birthday, our Mia Bear,” she announced, kissing Mia’s cheek.
“Thank you, Mum,” Mia smiled brightly. “Look! Look at this badge Dad gave me!” She grasped her t-shirt and thrust it forward, showing off the comically large birthday badge on her shirt. It was a baby blue colour and had a bear on it – of course – holding the number six in its hands. Riza had seen it at the supermarket the week before and knew instantly Mia would love it.
“It’s lovely, isn’t it?”
“Yeah! He said it was from you and him, so thank you! I love it!” Mia threw her arms around Riza’s neck and hugged her tightly. Laughing, Riza pressed a hand to Mia’s back and gave her a quick squeeze.
“Glad you like it.”
“And Dad made me a birthday breakfast,” Mia added excitedly, turning in her chair to look at the table. “I’ve ate it all now, but I had some grapes, a piece of toast that Dad turned into a face,” Mia giggled. “And I even had some of his porridge! I didn’t like it very much.” Mia wrinkled her nose in disgust.
“But you tried it though, didn’t you?” Roy reached for a teaspoon in the centre of the table, picking it up so he could stir his coffee. “You were a big girl and tried something new,” Roy praised.
“Yeah,” Mia grinned. “This breakfast was very yummy! Almost as good as the fun breakfast I had a while ago,” she added, trailing off and looking up at them daringly.
Riza smiled from behind Mia, shooting Roy a look. She was so clearly fishing and was hopeful for more chocolate at breakfast, but that was a no-go. Luckily, Roy remembered his error in judgement from that day.
“Ah, no chocolate for breakfast this time,” Roy reminded her as he popped a stray grape into his mouth. “You don’t want to feel ill like you did last time, do you?”
He lifted the bowl of grapes, extending them towards Riza. Picking a few off their stalks, she gathered them in her hand and started to eat them slowly.
Mia sat back in defeat. “No, I guess not,” she mumbled.
“It would be a very good birthday if you felt sick, would it?” Riza placed a hand on Mia’s head and bent to kiss the top of it.
“No, it wouldn’t be fun,” she agreed. The sullen tone had left her voice as she realised their logic. “But… Can I have some later?” Her wide and earnest eyes were begging her mother to say yes.
“Hm,” Riza hummed, pretending to think. “I don’t know…” she trailed off.
“Please!”
“I suppose,” Riza relented. “You are the birthday girl after all. This day is all about you.”
“Yay!” Mia clapped, legs kicking wildly in her chair. It made her little body jerk from side to side in her chair.
After breakfast and they’d all showered and dressed, the small family made their way into their living room so Mia could open her birthday presents. There was a pile on their couch which Riza had arranged while Roy got Mia ready for the day. She’d picked a lovely green dress to wear to her party. It had a floral pattern on it, the flowers just a shade lighter than the green of her dress so they were almost hidden. It had been an early gift from her grandmother.
The birthday girl’s eyes lit up when she saw the presents, diving for them.
It turned out Roy was also rather adept with a brush and a comb.
“Grew up with a bunch of sisters, remember,” he quipped with a wink, noticing Riza’s inquisitive smile as she admired Mia’s hair.
The perfectly braided hair bounced in their pigtails with Mia’s energy. She looked incredibly cute. Her hair was passed her shoulders now, long enough so that it could be split down the middle and tied off with two green ribbons at each end. However, her fringe was still a lost cause. Even with it styled like Riza’s it had a mind of its own and more often than not, fell over her eyes or ended up mussed up, skewing her parting completely.
Roy wrapped his arm around Riza’s shoulders as they watched Mia animatedly tell Hayate about the present she’d just opened. The dog was shown the toy so he could give it a sniff.
“And see? I have some sense of fashion.” Roy gestured to Mia’s attire.
Riza already knew he did. Around the house he wore shorts or sweatpants with t-shirts, but she’d seen him getting ready for formal military events. He looked incredibly handsome in a suit and tie and knew just how to style himself to make Riza’s heart flutter inside her chest.
“I didn’t doubt you for a second, dear,” Riza smirked, turning her head to peck his cheek.
“Mia,” Roy called, stepping forwards. “Before you get too excited and open any more, I have a present for you to open first.”
Riza shot him a questioning look that Roy very obviously ignored.
“Oh?” Mia asked, intrigued.
“Be back in a second,” he grinned, looking rather mischievous and proud of himself.
Riza narrowed her eyes. Just what did he have in mind here?
There was the distant sound of rummaging that made her raise an eyebrow, then Roy re-entered the room, lugging a huge, rather crudely wrapped, gift. In his arms, it passed just over Roy’s head, and he had to duck to get it through the doorway. From the shape, it was clear that this was another bear for Mia, but it was so large it was ridiculous. It was almost double the height of their daughter and would be nearly as tall as Roy and Riza if it could stand on its legs.
Mia gasped excitedly, carefully but quickly removing the wrapped present from her lap. Her eyes boggled as she took it in, brain struggling to comprehend what she was seeing.
Riza could sympathise with that.
“Uh,” Riza stated eloquently in her surprise.
“Is it a bear?” Mia was in awe, voice barely above a whisper.
“You’ll have to open it and see,” Roy smirked. He was practically bouncing with excitement himself.
Mia did so, carefully. She had to get Roy to help her unwrap from the stomach upward because it was far too tall for her. Squealing happily, she hugged her new best friend and looked up at its face in wonder.
Hayate wasn’t sure. He growled quietly at the hulking form, his hackles raised as his head dipped low to further take in this new thing on his territory that was so much larger than him.
“It’s okay, Hayate!” Mia peeled herself away from her new toy and reached out tentatively for the dog. Once her hand contacted his fur, Hayate flinched and licked his lips, looking up at Mia. “It’s just a toy. Look!” Standing tall, Mia poked the bear and its head flopped to the other side. Poking it again, harder, it tipped over and fell onto its side, making Hayate jump at the sudden thump that sounded. He growled louder while Mia laughed with glee.
“And just where are we going to put that?” Riza muttered the question in her husband’s ear while Mia was distracted.
Roy shrugged. “Let me worry about that.”
Riza rolled her eyes as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders again. The bear was honestly absurd. Where had he even bought it from?
“Where did you even hide that? I didn’t see it anywhere.”
“It was hidden in the garage,” he smiled mischievously. “Chris dropped it off late last night when you were already in bed. It was from the guys at work.”
“Really?” It was one shock after another this morning.
“They’d planned it beforehand after hearing her talk about how much she loved bears while Havoc and I were in the hospital,” Roy chuckled. “But…” He trailed off.
Everyone had been moved across Amestris.
Roy cleared his throat and shot her a reassuring smile as she hugged against his side. “Havoc ordered it into his family’s store and got it shipped out. Everyone still chipped in for it though before they left.”
Riza was touched by the lovely gesture for their daughter. “That was so sweet of them.”
“It was all Havoc’s idea. They can’t wait to hear what Mia’s reaction is,” Roy chuckled, nodding at their daughter. She was bouncing on the balls of her feet, a happy squeal emitting from her throat every now and then as she couldn’t quite believe the present was real. “Fuery more so than the others. Havoc says he isn’t bothered, but I know he wants to know.”
Riza grinned. She’d always thought of Roy’s team being somewhat unofficial uncles to Mia. Now, it definitely felt like it, and the thought warmed Riza’s heart.
*          *          *
Gracia and Elicia were the first to arrive at their house for Mia’s birthday party.
“Happy birthday, Mia!” Elicia giggled, handing over a parcel to Mia that looked a little too heavy for her. It dipped in her grasp as her arms shook with the weight.
“Elicia!” Mia’s cry was full of glee as she ran towards her friend. Skidding to a stop, she grinned at the present in Elicia’s hands and eased it out of the younger girl’s grasp. “Is this for me?”
“Yep! Mummy and I picked it out especially for you. It’s from my Daddy too!” Elicia’s happiness made the three adult’s expressions soften.
“Thank you, Elicia. That’s very kind of you,” Riza replied on her excited daughter’s behalf.
“Yes, thank you!” Gently, the parcel was placed on the ground and Mia hugged Elicia tightly.
All three adults simpered at the sight, looking proudly upon their friendship with one another.
“Can we go and open it now, Mum?” Mia’s eyes were wide and bright with excitement.
“Well,” Roy interjected, eyes already on the path up to their home, looking over Gracia’s shoulder. “It looks like you have some other guests to greet first.”
Mia poked her head around Gracia’s legs to see who was approaching. Chris waved to Mia as Vanessa and Roxanne beamed, arms laden with gifts.
“I promise though, you can play with it after.” Riza gestured for Mia to hand it over. As she stooped low, there was a niggle of pain in her lower back, but she shook it off. “You’ll get to open all your presents once everyone is here.”
“Okay!”
Unfortunately, Edward and Alphonse were up in North City, so were unable to attend Mia’s birthday, alongside the rest of Roy’s team. She was disheartened to hear her “uncles” wouldn’t be coming, but Mia took it in her stride. Both parents reassured her that they’d come and see her as soon as they were able to.
Rebecca, however, arrived from the East with a surprise appearance from Havoc.
Mia gasped loudly, a hand flying up to her mouth when she saw him enter through the door to their living room. Roy walked behind with a wide smile on his face.
“Aunt Becca! And Havoc!” Her screech pierced Riza’s ears painfully while Mia hopped to her feet and sprinted to the door. She threw her arms around Rebecca tightly, who’d knelt in place and opened them up for her.
“Happy birthday, Princess,” Rebecca greeted, kissing her on the cheek before letting her go.
“And – And – Havoc!” Mia gripped the arm of his wheelchair tightly, her knuckles white as her eyes boggled up at him. “I didn’t know you were coming!”
“It was a surprise,” he winked. In his lap was a poorly wrapped gift, which was handed over to Mia. “Happy birthday, Mia.”
She took it in her hands carefully, marvelling at the gold and red wrapping paper. “This is for me?”
“All for you,” Havoc confirmed.
“Oh, wow.”
“What do you say, Mia?” Riza prompted her daughter’s manners as she lifted herself from her armchair.
“Thank you, Havoc!” Mia threw her arms around his torso in a fierce hug, which made him chuckle in response.
He patted her shoulder fondly. “You’re welcome, Kiddo.”
“Now that everyone is here, who would like tea or coffee?” Roy announced it to the room as Riza made her way through to their kitchen. Some peace and quiet would give her a reprieve to try and relieve some of her fatigue.
Her back was bothering her a lot today, and it made Riza wonder if she’d slept in a funny position. No amount of stretching would grant her relief, unfortunately. And she was so tired today, too. That extra two hours in bed should have been enough, but apparently it wasn’t. It was unfair. It was her daughter’s sixth birthday! She had no time to be tired.
It was happening more and more often lately after she’d entered her third trimester. That niggle in her back was the most prominent one, as well as aching ankles. That was easy enough to deal with though, seeing as most of her work was done at her desk. Life went on as well, so she’d shouldered the pain while running around after Mia and rested when she could.
After placing the water on top of the heat to boil, Riza closed her eyes and rested her hands against the counter. Her spine was perfectly straight, but she was leaning forwards, letting her hands take some of her weight. Relief washed over her ankles, granting her a reprieve. Her head was held high, but her chin dipped as she rolled her previously hunched shoulders.
“Hey, you okay?” Roy’s hands were instantly placed on her tight shoulders, giving them a squeeze.
“Yes.” She leaned back into him, relaxing completely as he steadied her like a rock. A kiss was pressed to her temple, causing a smile to quirk up the corners of her mouth.
His hands ran down her arms to her waist. “What’s wrong?”
“What makes you think there’s something wrong?”
Roy hummed quietly in her ear. His head moved so that his nose was in her hair and he pressed a kiss behind her ear. “I’ve noticed you grimace every now and then. I just want to check everything is alright.”
“You’re too observant,” Riza grumbled good naturedly, making him laugh quietly and pull away from her.
“It’s to be expected, Riza, my dear.”
She had been mourning the loss of his embrace, but his hands ran back up her bare arms to rest atop her shoulders. It was a beautiful contradiction how his hands lit a fire with his touch but still managed to lift gooseflesh on her skin. Riza shivered.
“Expected?”
His hands began to knead at the knots in her shoulders and Riza let out a light moan. It felt heavenly. It was exactly what she needed.
“Of course,” he replied. “I love you too much not to notice when something might be bothering you. Plus, we’ve been together for so long, I like to think I’ve become quite attuned to you,” he grinned.
Again, her body shuddered. Hearing him say such things…
Roy noticed her reaction and laughed. “Do you like that?”
“Yes,” she breathed. It felt like her legs would turn to jelly, she was becoming so relaxed, but hearing Roy’s low voice, telling her how much he loved her and how much he noticed about her… “What else have you noticed?”
“That you’re tired today. And your lower back and ankles hurt, am I correct?”
Riza huffed but nodded.
“Yes,” he hissed in triumph at his correct guess, making Riza laugh.
“Are you happy that I’m suffering for your child?” She made her amusement clear.
“Not at all,” Roy reassured solemnly. “If I could take some of the stress from you, I would. You know that.”
Riza’s heart fluttered in her chest.
“I’m just pleased I can read you so well.”
“I’ll have to make it harder next time,” Riza hummed thoughtfully.
“How can I help you if you make it harder for me?” A chuckle left him as he found a rather tight knot in her trapezius. His thumb dug in deep causing Riza to let out a strangled cry of relief.
“Your shoulders are very tight,” he remarked.
Riza grimaced. “I know. The kid is making them tense,” she added, fondly running her hand over her stomach.
“You can expect some foot rubs tonight for those ankles too. And feel free to let me know what else I can massage,” he quipped, lifting his eyebrows suggestively.
Scoffing, Riza admonished him quietly while he laughed instead.
“Did this happen with Mia?”
“Yes. You’re a much more preferable masseuse than Rebecca though.”
A quiet snort left him. His head dipped, pressing a kiss to the bare skin at her neck as he gave her shoulders one last tight squeeze. “I’m glad.” His voice was a whisper against the crook of her neck. “Why don’t you go and get a seat,” Roy offered, straightening his posture.
Riza turned to look at him, noting the soft smile on his face as he gazed at her. “I can manage to make some tea –”
“Humour me,” Roy interrupted softly, taking one of her hands in his. He lifted it to his lips, pressing a kiss upon the back of her palm. “If you’re tired then I honestly don’t mind.”
Riza opened her mouth to argue, but Roy’s eyes flashed with mischief.
“And don’t lie and say you’re not tired.” He chuckled at her frown. A kiss was pressed to her forehead. “Go and take a seat. I’ll sort the beverages for our guests.”
“Is that an order, Colonel?” An eyebrow lifted in light defiance.
Again, his eyes flashed at her challenge, and a grin spread across his face. “I can make it an order, if you like?” His smile was bordering on wolfish and Riza decided to quit while she was ahead. It was her daughter’s birthday. The party came first. Afterwards, once Mia was asleep, she would teach Roy a lesson for trying to order her around… After his previously offered massage.
“No, it’s okay, I’ll go,” she relented reluctantly.
Pausing in the doorway, she turned and watched him tap a nail on the countertop, staring out the window to their garden, waiting for the water to boil. Once it was ready, it snapped Roy out of whatever thought he was lost in and he jumped to reach for the pot, so he could pour it in the waiting mugs.
A corner of Riza’s mouth quirked up, smiling at her husband. He’d relaxed her completely and having his support meant so much to her.
Turning in place, Roy frowned at her, his mouth turning downwards in exaggerated disapproval. “Go on, Mrs. Mustang. Shoo. I can handle carrying tea and coffees through.”
“I’m going, I’m going,” she placated, lifting her hands in surrender.

FOUR SEASONS OF K: “SUMMER FESTIVAL’S HEROINE”
Translation: Naru-kun Raws: Ridia
"Damn. This is lost too."
Painfully, Aya threw the ice cream stick on the ground.
Suddenly she breathes in pain and takes the stick and throws it in the trash in front of the store. She walks into a convenience store and buy another ice cream, and immediately escape from inside the store where the air conditioning was too effective. The damn heat wave that struck while waiting after the rainy season was God's salvation for today's Aya.
"Ah. How hot."
As she was sitting on the bench in front of the store and opening the ice cream, a grandmother's emotions leaked out. Although she likes mint with chocolate and is her favorite, her tongue is already thin and she can no longer feel the taste. Her tongue was tinted green when she showed her face on the screen with the PDA camera.
According to the information between users, there is a probability of one in thirty. She thought it would be an easy win because she had a high probability, but she was completely down with the fifth race.
She managed to strip the stick and turned it over to see if there was a mark anywhere, but couldn't find that letter.
"Isn't Ogai? What is this? What are you doing?"
There was a brake screech and a familiar voice stabbing. Aya, who had been drooling desperately, raised her face, and a boy wearing a baseball cap with both arms clearly colored with exposed short-sleeved burns on a running shirt or something, was lowering a leg off his bike.
Misaki Yata's firm appearance was glowing with halos at this moment.
"Misaki~! Please help me~"
++++++++++
Line 28 with thirty lines in front.
"Ah... that's a river!"
"Oh, oh, Misaki-kun, good job~!"
Aya instinctively held onto both hands with Yata, who posed triumphantly with the stick raised.
"I did it!"
After the two pale-faced people embraced under the heat,
"Uwaaah!"
Yata took distance from Aya. Aya almost caught the stick that Yata had thrown into the air with a jumping rhythm.
As a result, there are seven for Aya. She contributed 21 hits, three times more than Yata.
"And what is that?"
"Not even Aya knows about it yet. It seems like the 'items' of the prizes appear randomly."
"Elements?"
It goes back...
When Yata craned his neck and tried to look inside the stick while keeping his distance, an eerie low noise somewhere in between.
The sky is clear. The light of the midsummer sun drenches the roof of the tent. There is no cloud shadow that can help.
Yata shook her hand and said "Uh."
"Okay... Oh, I'm going home."
"Misaki-kun?"
Raise his back and return to the saddle with an unnatural pose.
"Oh, tell me what happened next."
He bracketed his index finger and middle finger and held it in front of him, but he was cold and sweating.
"Ah... Please do it in time..."
Aya said, "Thank you! Thank you for your cooperation."
When Aya was alone, she sat on the bench in the shade with the baton in her hand.
A two-dimensional barcode is engraved on a flat wooden stick with the word "Hit!"
It was a special summer vacation mission broadcast by "Jungle" for version B users.
Those who win the hit ice cream sold at a limited number of convenience stores will receive "the item that makes the summer break stronger" as a gift. The "object" of "Jungle" is said to be a transient supernatural power that can be separated from the "King" of "Jungle". Aya has yet to see.
Will the summer holidays be the strongest? What's going on?
In the “Jungle” mission, if you take a wrong step, some serious and dangerous things roll like a crime stick, but on the other hand, very childish entertainment can be planned. Who is the "King"? There are times when she thinks he can be a child instead of an adult.
Launch the app and hold her camera over the two-dimensional barcode as she taps. The camera automatically adjusted the focus and read the 2D barcode.
"Congratulations on winning, Shell!"
A booming sound effect echoed through the speakers and the mascot character Jean Pii appeared on the screen.
"The element that makes 'summer holidays the strongest' is presented to Shell."
On screen, Jean Pii quickly spun the lottery machine, which spins an octagonal wooden box, which is often used in draws. As soon as the yellow ball rolled out of the exit, the sound of the bells was loud.
"Congratulations!" Summer Festival Hero Set!"
Summer Festival... Set of Heroes...?
Aya, who was looking at the lottery results while holding her chest high, coughed coldly.
"What is that?"
++++++++++
Nothing interesting.
With a dog character mask on her head, dipping a red apple candy with a coloring agent into her mouth, and pushing a yo-yo of water that dangles from the middle finger of her right hand sharply, Aya is animated in the fair. It rots inside and comes out.
At the end of the path, kick the garbage that was in the driveway. It does not matter if the hem of the yukata is altered.
It didn't seem like anyone else was coming alone. Everyone happily watches the stalls with friends and family.
Who would become a hero in this place? She can't brag to anyone because she has no one to come with.
A sound of water rising near her was heard, and the boy began to cry,
"Buaaah!"
Looking at him, there was a puddle at the feet of a first grader from elementary school. A rubber band with the remains of a water yo-yo hanging from it is attached to the finger of a child who covers his eyes with his fist and cries. Although his mother reassured his, he stepped on the ground saying, "No! I want a new one!" Aya screamed at the sharp scream that pierced the eardrum and approached the boy.
"Take it."
When he turned around and pushed the water yo-yo in his right hand, the crying stopped. The eyes and cheeks of the boy who was staring at the watery yoyo with a beautiful blue marble pattern that trembled in front of his, were dry.
He's not crying... That's why she hates children.
"I'm sorry. It's yours."
The mother refused.
"I do not need it. I'll give you all of this too. I do not want it.''
Aya said, not only her right hand but also her left hand, and hung it up in front of the boy. In the left hand, there are eight colored water yo-yos that are arranged vertically with rubber bands. It is Aya who offers him everything because she is angry.
"Your mask is amazing! Have you got it all?!"
"Thanks to you."
Her brave mother's jaw closed and she responded, walking with the apple candy in her mouth again.
++++++++++
"Ah? Do you want to be stingy in our business?"
In front of a certain position, a person spoke with a bad voice to customers.
The stall sign says "shoot." Gifts such as toys and sundries are displayed on the platform, and guests with a BB gun filled with cork bullets line up in front of the long desk. It looked like one of the customers and a hat-wearing, hard-eyed employee was fighting on the other side of the long desk.
"I used five shots to calculate and make sure he could fall. There's something behind that that it can't fall."
He responded with about a tenth of the squeaky voice to the one in the store, that person has a slim back with a T-shirt.
"Isn't Saruhiko?"
Aya stopped her legs and raised her head.
"Isn't it your arm problem? I'll sue you for business interruption."
From the other side of the desk, the clerk faces Fushimi. His brow is furrowed as if regretting a bad smell.
"Saruhiko. I didn't think you would come to a festival like this. What kind of game are you playing?"
Fushimi turned to Aya's voice. However, he didn't change his expression at all, she said, "What are you doing?"
"What is that? I didn't find you because I wanted to."
"If that's the case, I'm busy now."
Fushimi quickly leaves Aya, who is outraged by what he says, turns to see the store clerk. Aya looked away when she noticed a child clinging to Fushimi's waist.
"Absolutely spot on, a Saru ball! Hit Nakamado's transformation set!"
“There's no use hitting him, dummy. It's a rule that you have to beat it.''
“It's cheating. Do not cheat!"
And even a smaller girl holding a child's hand screamed, and Aya was shocked.
"Oh, and that hidden boy?!"
"I do not know."
Immediately disproved by Fushimi by showing the coldness of absolute zero in the lens of the glasses.
"Yata and this little..."
"Oh, Misaki's younger brother and sister... What happened to Misaki?"
"I'm going with my brother!"
The boy upstairs yells around, "Ni-chan, Ponponpipi!" The girl said and laughed.
"Well... Misaki-kun and this girl..."
It's silly and annoying. After calling him nasty, Aya convinced his younger brother and sister, thinking he was there.
"I'll ask you just in case, but is Misaki-kun sick to his stomach...?"
"I don't know. It's some ice cream. Surely, because of that big eater, I became the babysitter for these little ones."
"Look, Nii-chan. If you're convinced, don't open the space. Is it a nuisance to the waiting customers?"
In front of Fushimi's face, the clerk waved his hat to avoid it. "Who's convinced..." Fushimi was trying to pay, sucking dust and coughing. However, the younger brother pushed Fushimi's buttocks back and said, "I still haven't received Nakanama's transformation set!"
Aya turned her mouth into a V shape and looked at the situation, but exhaled with a sigh and threw 500 yen at the table in the store.
“If you buy a bullet, you are still a customer. Give me five shot opportunities."
She changes places pushing Fushimi, who has a mysterious look.
"Which one do you want?"
"Nakanama Transformation Set!"
A large box of toys was displayed in the place the younger brother pointed out, such as a special seat on the platform. Certainly, even if the stand is hidden behind, if it is that size, it cannot be seen from the front.
"Hm. It is an easy victory."
With a snort, Aya received the air pistol and cork ammunition that the store manager handed her.
“Can you take it down, miss? I will not accept complaints after having used five shots."
"Alright. Instead, if I defeat it clearly, that's not to complain."
Before setting up, she takes the chest pad out of her yukata and operate the app. Standard summer festival items such as "collect goldfish" and "throw rings" are displayed in the item list. Since it's a one-time disposable item, the "yo-yo fish" she used for a while has disappeared from the list.
Element "trigger", activated.
For a moment, her entire body was enveloped in a sensation of running static electricity, and she was sucked into her weapon.
"It's a spectacle to see Aya's skill."
She spread her legs over her shoulders, holding the gun at eye level and staring. "Do your best, sister!" "Go!"
Cheers flew not only from Yata's younger brother and sister, but also from Nojima, who was guarding the stall, saying, "You can, princess! Good luck!"
Pont.
The gun made a soft sound and a cork bullet came out of the muzzle, she wondered if a harmless cork bullet would put out a green light.
Poom!
A sound that she couldn't think of as a cork bomb exploded and blew up the prize. After all, the support and awards hidden behind fell off the pedestal, and cheers roared from behind, "Is that a lie?!"
"Incredible! It can't fall!"
"What do you mean it can't go down? Isn't it a scam if you have a business that won't go down?"
"That's right, I promised you I wouldn't complain if you clearly defeated it!"
When the clerk was caught in front of Aya, he got scared and said, "I'm sorry..."
"Take your prize! Don't come back!"

"Great! The Red!"
The sister leaned to the edge of the aquarium and pointed to a goldfish swimming in the water. Fushimi sighed and grabbed the neck of the sister who was about to fall headfirst into the water.
In the aquarium crowded with parents and children holding a net made of plastic wrapped in Japanese paper, red, white, or red-and-white marbled chairs, the goldfish is swimming vertically and horizontally. Like a large candy containing only a few grains in a small plum flavored candy, there were a few buns mixed in with a headache.
"Do I like the one that isn't cute...?"
While muttering, Aya operates the app and selects an item from the list.
"Do you want a very cute one?"
While muttering, Aya operates the app and selects an item from the list.
The item "Collect goldfish" is activated. The selected fish glowed green.
Rolling up the yukata sleeves, Aya put a net in the aquarium in the spirit of "Let's go!"
The net that ran through the water, picked up the goldfish and bounced off the surface. An exceptionally large gold-colored ranchu leapt high into the air, splashing water under the lights of the stalls. The ranchu is the first to allow it to be taken to the bowl Aya put in.
Jump inside, the rest of the fish fell similarly.
As the night deepened, the crowds of people who began to cool off at night began to catch up. Children who sleep on their parents' backs are transported home in a quiet whisper.
Yata's sister was sleeping on Fushimi's back with a plastic bag that held the goldfish on her wrist. A balloon art dog is tied to the other of the two small hands that hang from Fushimi's shoulder and flutters over Fushimi's shoulder.
A while ago, the younger brother, who was still cheerfully chewing cotton candy and takoyaki, suddenly fell silent, grabbed the hem of Aya's yukata and tried to walk down. Nakanama's box, which he had been appreciating, was about to slip, and Aya had no choice but to pull it out of the boy's hand and hold it in her armpit.
"You used something strange."
"Hmm. It didn't matter because it didn't make you feel uncomfortable."
"If it's unpleasant, it's unpleasant, but the reason I made a loan is because I couldn't handle it if Yata wasn't there and he was too busy with the kids..."
Fushimi was different than usual, saying that he was relieved that she carried the brother who fell asleep.
Aya looked at the PDA. Almost all items in the item list have been exhausted, only one remains.
"Fireworks."
“I returned the loan to Misaki-kun. The latter can be used to fulfill Aya's wishes, right?"
She wants to be a hero, not someone's hero.
Hold down and grip the bottom of the yukata tightly. The toes sandwiching the geta's clogs were red and rubbed. At first she was angry when she wondered why she was wearing a yukata.
Are you aware of the unusual appearance? Don't you pay attention?
She can hear the sound of her heart clearly under the obi.
"Saruhiko. Why don't we watch the fireworks together...?"
The small voice was disturbed by the small vibration.
Fushimi held the sister's buttocks with one hand and pulled his fingers out of his pocket.
"Hah. He finally broke free from the bathroom."
With a sigh of jealousy, she looks around and begins to reply to check the benchmarks.
During that short span of time, Aya's floating heart recovered.
The sound of her heart was strong due to the tight band that she did not get used to. This made her emotions confuse. She seems silly...
"Oh, you were there. Oh, Saruhiko!"
She can see Yata running through the access, feeling like her cheeks are thin.
"I don't care. He came, and he couldn't get away from the bathroom. He finally cut everything off."
“These brother and sister of yours. I can't keep up with them."
Aya was terrified that she would often say out loud that she was grumpy, and took the boy's hand and pulled her away from her yukata. Push the toy box into the hand of the younger brother who sways with one sleepy eye.
"Aya is going home. I'm already on hand with Misaki-kun."
She yelled back, clicked her clogs, and left the place. Fushimi's reaction was not seen. She didn't expect to be stopped, but they didn't even call her.
She seems silly. She really looks silly... Aya doesn't think she can become that heroine.

"Why did you have a big ice cream after all?"
"Oh, actually, I meet Ogai at noon."
When he hears Yata's story, the line from the woman on the left side, who said she had filled in the holes, matched up. In other words, he was the main cause. Fushimi regretted feeling a little blessing and his tongue slipped out.
"Still, I have a lot of things! Was it really fun?"
As he accepted Megumi from Fushimi's back, Yata was impressed and looked around at his brother's hands. "Thanks for all the kindness, Saruhiko." Although he said thanks, he didn't get it, so Fushimi looked away.
Megumi's lips, which had moved to Yata's arm, were swaying and she had one eye half open.
"Oh, Nichan. Where's Nee-chan?"
"Nee-chan? Were you with someone?"
Following Megumi's gaze, Yata looks around mysteriously.
Minoru tugged on Yata's shorts to make his eyes sparkle.
“Oh, my masked sister! She's so cool, she's super cool! She was the goddess of the festival!"
"Festival goddess? Seriously, I wanted to see her too!"
"That is not true."
Fushimi, who rushed inside with half-narrowed eyes, rolled his eyes and hit Yata,
"Ah, because here is a sanctuary, is there a god?"
Assuming that there really is a god written in this shrine, it would be a punishment to equate it with Aya Ogai.
Well, should I thank the shrine gods? It is a pain to correct it and turn it into an achievement of that woman. What is sown is reaped.
"The festival is over!"
Looking at the grounds where the posts were being removed, Yata smiled a little alone. Yata is the man of the festival more than anyone. It would have been a shame if the festival wasn't completed because it was a round trip to the bathroom.
"Ah... fireworks..."
Yata suddenly screamed and looked as he approached the approach.
Hyururururu… A thin line of light rose from the ground, and a refreshing sound erupted, and a large flower bloomed in the night sky.
"Why, there were still fireworks! Why did everyone go home without seeing the fireworks?"
"Excellent!"
Fushimi frowned, as the Yata clan brothers were incredibly innocent, while there was a plan for the fireworks at today's fair.
Hyurururu... Bapappan!
Rays of light rise one after another from the ground that has sunk into darkness, and colorful flowers of various sizes illuminate the night sky with force. The indigo sky turns gunpowder white. Yata breathes comfortably into his lungs,
"I think this summer, this summer smells like this. They don't feel like they've finally come to the festival! Minoru! Megumi!"
"Nichan, what is that?"
"I don't know. That's what you say."
"Well, ok."
While listening to the Yata family's conversation, Fushimi stopped thinking deeply.
Today there were some mysterious things, but he thinks that often when he sees Yata he is very good.
The smell of gunpowder comes with the smoky summer breeze. It was the smell of summer that he notices only after getting involved with the Yata family.

Pansy cursed as the harsh wind bit as her skin despite the fur coat that sat on her shoulders pulling it tighter she ducked into Twilfitt and Tattings. Puffing out a sigh as embraced the warmer air and let her coat hang around her shoulders.
She smirked at the maze of fabulous dressing gowns all made by the best designers and sold to the wealthiest witches and wizards. She loved the place and its attentive staff that always strived to make each guest feel welcomed and comfortable and ready to give every gallion they owned or more. But the staff wasn't being as attentive as usual. Madame Trance hasn't even come to greet her. In fact she didn't seem to be in the front at all. Waltzing further in with a strut that told any other customers she wasn't to be messed with she set off to find the rode maker.
She was really just looking for herself and find a dress on her own but she preferred being tailed. To be pampered and complemented with each dress she tried on. To be served fine wine and coddled with cucumber sandwiches. She pouted to herself as she wandered the store for five minutes with not even a word of recognition. Moving along she thought about causing a scene reminding the old bat that she was one of the few pureblood families able to buy from the overpriced shop. Had she forgotten most of her precious pure blood customers were serving time damn it.
Whilst in her inner temper tantrum a voice cut through her thoughts like a knife completely drawing her attention and her furry.
"The Nargles infestation is absolutely terrible in here. With all this mistletoe I'm surprised she has a robe left to sell." The voice was so blunt and dreamy almost as if she had been picked up and thrown unceremoniously into the past.
She could picture it plain as day, see it in her mind so clearly it was rage inducing. She could see the dotty girl round the corner with her oversized sweater and robes her necklace with the ugly butter beer corks. Her wand would be resting behind her ear as she stared up at the missile toe with wide eyes. Could the girl even afford to step through these doors? The thought gave her such satisfaction till she remembered rather bitterly that yes she could.
"I wish mum would let us put it up round the burrow. We could get so many people this Christmas. Perhaps even rig it up pop fireworks when two people step under it" The second voice was male but still dreamy and assured. It was laced with mischief.
"Aboslutly brillant idea Ries. Think Uncle Gorgie might even put that into his holiday collection. Perhaps even help us set them up?" The voice seemed the same but so laced with that of a naughty scheming child that it was almost appalling. She didn't even think she could sound so innocent while being so vile.
She wanted to turn the corner. She wanted to turn and see them and sneer and immediate them but now she wasn't so sure she could. They seemed in a class of their own. Then a much older yet still familiar voice spoke.
"Scheming again are we?" He asked and the two seemed to meet his challenge.
"Oh yes very much" the boy answered bluntly. "Having fun is the point of the holidays, after all" he sounded so dreamy and so blunt so much like their mother. The thought made her sneer.
"Is it having fun or forcing me another step towards my grave?" He asked his tone more playful then she had ever heard it.
"Just a step?" The girl interjected. "I thought we'd at least have your foot in the grave by now."
The man gave a sarcastic laugh then told them just as bluntly to go help their sister.
"Draco" she mocked stepping from around the corner only to be thoroughly disappointed she had thought that the combination of her presence and saying his name would upset him but he stayed relaxed, shoving his hands into his pockets.
Then again he had changed over the past few years for the worst that is.
"Didn't think I'd see you here. Isn't this place a little high class for people like yourself?" His features didn't change; he simply acknowledged her existence by turning his gaze towards her.
"Is there a point you want to make Parkinson?" He asked in a bored tone but was different than the one she knew. It was just bored not arrogant and pompous it was if he was bored with her existence. It infuriated her.
"I'm just saying that perhaps Madame Trance doesn't know just how much mud your lot is tracking in." She had wanted a reaction; she wanted to see anger flare in his eyes and him to snap just as easily as he used to.
"It's just business. Buying and selling and all that. As long as I can pay the price I don't think she minds" He answered as if he were brushing her off.
"You're paying the price alright. My mum says that your family's status is in the mud. Ive heard you shacked up with a blood traitor then you pulled a Weasley." Crossing her arms she searched his face looking for something, a clench of the jaw, the balling of his fist but still she was given nothing.
"Oh how the Malfoy name has fallen! Even your parents couldn't even keep their heads straight. Letting that Blood traitor into their home was shameful and the little half breed. Did they lose their brains in the war along with their nerve letting the child of a werewolf into their home. There about as daft as your wife" She finally got something a twitch in his eyebrow must have hit a nerve. Oh how she loved hitting nerves it like gold really.
"Where is she anyway? Hunting those invisible creatures? Heard those two talking about them twins aren't they perhaps they were born with halves of the same brain believing in that rubbish." His grey eyes turned quickly to hard iron and she knew she was getting somewhere then suddenly they softened back to stormy grey. Then she was confused, completely and utterly confused.
"Daddy do you think Grandma will like the blue or the green. I think blue." A girl came into sight, Madame Trance trailing behind eagerly her elegent dresses drapped over her arms.
"Though I suppose the Lavender would match her skin tone but the grey has the most subtle hints of violet. I suppose we'll have to get them all" Upon hearing this the woman stared down at the little customers with glee nodding her head vigorously. "Then the turquoise one for Mrs. Weasley?" The shopkeeper suddenly stopped nodding a small frown crossing her features.
Pansy couldn't help but smirk ready to watch the show.
"Is there a problem with whom we will be buying for?" The girl asked noticing the sudden hesitation, rounding on the women her straight silvery blond hair swishing as she turned. "Surely we won't have to take our business elsewhere as I had a few dresses I was looking at myself. But if you have a problem with where your products will be going after bought I won't hesitate to drop all Malfoy business with this shop" her words were cold, calm and calculated. Each word held venom and air of high importance.
It was as if she was looking at a young Narcisa in her prime. She watched as the shopkeeper gapped like a fish for a moment fumbling over words shaking her head vigorously.
"No no of course not! Course not!" Her voice rang shrilly, her eyes going wide.
"Right what I thought" she responded brushing the women off then turning to her father.
"I suppose you should throw in the powder blue one then" He added and she nodded as if thinking the same thing.
"Come along we need to go find Mrs. Weasleys new robes" The women followed like a puppy wanting a treat.
She was gobsmacked completely gobsmacked the young girl played the woman like any pure blood brat and she did it with complete confidence. Didn't she know her family wasn't seen as anything more then cowards. That their name was ruined well before her time. Yet she played Madame Trance like it was a mere pawn on a chess board.
"Dad why do I have to be here?" A boy asked, coming into sight. His hair as silvery blond as his sisters falling around his grey eyes. He looked bored and aggravated.
"You're the one who said you wanted to come Christmas shopping" his father told his simply.
"I was planning on meeting James at Quality Quidditch. Or before him so I could get the lighting bolt before him" the boy stressed gaining no sympathy from his father. "Well now you two can get it together."
"Why does Scorp not have to hear here but I do?"
"Scorpius went with Luna to the tea shop and from what I remembered you picked 'the lesser of two evils' the boy groaned but walked off mumbling under his breath.
"Are you dad's friend?" She nearly jumped out of her skin she hadn't even heard them approached yet now she had two children on both sides of her.
They looked up with big eyes of powdery blue eyes that held mischief beyond her imagination. Their dirty blond hair curled round their eyes as it hung in waves down the girls back.
"No, I don't think she is," the boy answered.
"Why do you think that?"
"We've never seen her before. Think we'd remember her face. Don't you?"
"Yeah we would."
They exchanged glances then suddenly shrugged uninterestedly with her leaving her like she was rubbish on the ground.
She felt flustered, embarrassed , angry , oh so angry. She nearly started venting when the mother of them all came floating in. Her long red and green robe flowing round her shoulders and an assortment of holly in her hair. It made her almost sick to look at. Beside her was a little boy who stayed close clinging to her hand.
He was exactly what Draco once looked like. Straight pointed features pushed back platinum blond hair and grey eyes. There was no difference really other then that wide curious expression.
"Hello Pansy it's been quite a while" the woman greeted in the same fashion of calm as she did in her younger years.
"Your children are brats did you know that" the words shot from her lips like bullets.
She didn't feel like she was lying though. So far one had bullied a shopkeeper into submission the other had complained about being there and the two creepy ones had already started talking about pranks and were very rude to her.
"Have they been acting out?" She asked her husband.
"No there, about as normal as always" he offered and she nodded.
"Do you have children?" She asked, tilting her head. "Surely you understand that very hard to handle."
Pansy gritted her teeth. "No I don't have children. Though if I did they would more well mannered"
"Perhaps but I like my children the way they are."
"Ginny will be round soon. Had Gemini finished her Christmas shopping?" And now she was being ignored; it was as if she wasn't standing in between the two!
"More Weasleys, how far has your family sunk Malfoy?" She shot at the man behind her not bothering to turn.
"I like to think my family has grown. Whatever we've lost wasn't that important to begin with" Luna smiled as the boy next to her beamed at his father's words. They looked as if he had said something extremely pleasant. She herself had heard rubbish and pure nonsense.
"Whatever you lost wasn't that important!?" She nearly bellowed whipping around to look at him.
"You and your parents have made themselves blood traitors. Publicly!" She felt anger pouring out of her words. "Your mum and dad were once highly respected and now they're going out for tea with that Mudblood lover as if it were nothing. There was a chance Draco! A chance for your parents to have even the slightest bit of redemption and look at what they have done. You could have been there saving grace married respectively and reminded them what pureblood supremacy is. You could at least have some sort of shame in what you and your family have lowered themselves to be!" She was breathing heavily taking in a large breath.
"The woman that you're speaking of is my aunt." She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms.
"You mean the werewolf supporter. My mums told me all about that half breed. Honestly those things are dangerous and you've had one in your house!" There was a flash in his eye but he kept a straight face. He seemed to get ready to speak when his voice cut him off.
"Did you just call my cousin a thing?" The voice seethed as she saw the boy who had complained before his eyes filled with malice.
"He is a thing" she knew instantly that she had said the wrong thing. The boy's laid back posture straightened his jaw set.
"A woman with the features of a pug animagious gone horribly wrong has any right to judge others?" He asked though it was obviously rhetorical.
"You are talking to a superior little boy. I suggest" he cut her off with a laugh, his eyes narrowing.
"We're both pure blood. The only difference is that you lack a moral compass and I lack your narrow minded views." His arms crossed, staring at her like she was filthy, his gaze was searing.
"Is there a problem?" The girl asked Madame Trance trailing behind her currently holding multiple robes she looked absolutely terrified looking between the two.
"No no my dear no problem" Trance started in attempting to cover the situation. "You've gathered everything you wanted so we should have Lord Malfoy check out yes yes that's what we should do." The girl's eyes shot over to look at the seamstress, her gaze piercing.
"Puggy over there called Teddy a thing." The boy seethed crossing his arms.
"If this" she paused scanning the dark haired women as if she wasnt sure how to address her. "Women has something she would like to say. I suggest she say it then promptly leave" she was taken aback by her declaration she had never been treated with such disrespect by a child.
"Leave?" Both the seamstress and heiress found themselves saying.
"Yes leave I don't want her in here while I'm doing business" she crossed her arms then looked up at the women who looked uncertain at the request. "Mrs.Parkinson's is a very loyal customer at my shop" Trance's voice quivered as she tried to reason with the younger girl.
"Well then if she is so loyal she'll be able to come back when we leave which will be very soon if she's not gone sooner rather than later" Trance looked past her to her father then to her mother both seemed to be telling her they had no control of this situation.
"Ms. Parkinson, you have made my customer's very uncomfortable. Would you leave them be and stop disturbing them." The girl looked unsatisfied by the sudden alternative but before she could voice it her mother moved to place her hand on her shoulder.
"Them? Their mere presence has disturbed me. This is supposed to be a filth free establishment. Yet all I see is tainted blood!"
"Just leave them be Ms. Parkinson or I will have to ask you to leave" she told her in a broken tone.
She felt defeated looking around at the family with a sneer curling on her lip. But holding her head high she strutted away giving a look of burning hatred at the man she once knew. There was a snicker from behind one of the shelfs the two wide eyed children walked past her, the boy telling his sister that he was completely right. She huffed and resisted the urge to strangle children.
