i took smooch prompts on twitter and @jadeoxfordrose gave me Elżbieta/Sorren with "i've missed you" + reunion kiss and I'M STILL SO ETERNALLY EMBARRASSED writing them which is very silly but it did get me into a "what if I relisten to the sagas of the sunless reach stream" mood and i'm back to sighing over Zach giving us an incredibly sexy and cool NPC
so saying, i'm sorry it's not actually a kiss Jade, and don't look at me Zach if you read this this is your own fault for making them so cool.
+++
“Elżbieta,” Ksana says almost as soon as her boots cross the threshold into the fortress grounds. “You’re back.”
Elżbieta lifts an eyebrow. “Are you surprised?”
The look that crosses Ksana’s face says no, then yes, then nothing altogether. “No,” the older woman finally answers. “I suppose not.” With that out of the way, Ksana claps Elżbieta reassuringly on the shoulder and gives a curt but fond nod. “Good. Just in time, too. They’ll want you at the operations table.”
“Was planning on heading there as soon as I put my stuff down,” Elżbieta confirms. She’s about to move on but Ksana’s grip on her shoulder tightens to keep her in place.
Neither of them say anything, Elżbieta knowing well enough by now to wait for Ksana to work through whatever internal struggle there is before deciding what to say.
“Don’t take whatever they might say to heart,” she finally says, though it sounds more like an order. “They missed you too.”
Elżbieta opens her mouth, closes it, and furrows her brow in confusion. “I wasn’t gone long enough to impact their plans…” she says hesitantly. “I made it back before the new moon like I said I would.”
Ksana gives her that look that the older woman has perfected — vague disappointment with an overall sense of being absolutely put-upon at Elzbieta’s obstinance. “You refer to the many,” she answers, blunt despite her cryptic words. “I refer to the one.”
Elżbieta puts it together before the second half of the statement is even out of Ksana’s mouth and it’s only her years of perfecting a poker face that keeps her from reacting. Still, always willing to be a frustrating thorn in Ksana’s side, she feigns innocence and says, “Ksana, I told you, it’s not like that between Jim and I—” which earns her a huff and an eye roll.
“Bah,” Ksana says and tosses her hands in the air, finally releasing Elżbieta.
She uses the moment of opportunity to disengage, slipping away and into the crowd of Rams — though Ksana does call, “Forty-five minutes, war room meeting!” and she waves her hat in understanding.
Elżbieta drops her stuff off on the cot in the room she shares with several others, sorting through her bag to pull out her field notes and the letters she picked up on the way back in from town. Shucking her coat but not bothering to take the time to change out of her travel clothes, she heads back into the commotion of the fortress.
Elżbieta doesn’t bother checking at the range and only makes a quick stop in the quartermaster’s office to let them know the state of the delivery from town. She hands out the few letters as she goes, though one she keeps tucked away with her notes.
All told, it takes her maybe twenty minutes from parting with Ksana to make it to the makeshift war room and sure enough, Sorren is already inside — bent over the maps of the delta and the rough schematics of the castle. The bandages still peak out from the collar of their shirt and their arm hangs awkwardly at their side, but it’s an improvement from how they were when she last saw them.
“How did I know,” Elżbieta begins, and it’s a testament to how stressed they must be because they jump at the sound of her voice, “that I would find you here nearly half an hour before the meeting was supposed to start?”
Sorren twists around and winces at the motion. It’s not enough to hide their surprise. “You’re back,” they say in a mirror to Ksana’s own greeting.
She quirks a brow as she approaches the table. “Why does everyone say that like they didn’t expect to see me return?”
Their answer comes in the form of pointedly not watching her as she tosses her file down on top their maps and she hops up to sit on the edge of the table.
“What?” She nudges their good shoulder with her elbow. “I said I’d be back and I am.”
“A full week after Jack returned,” Sorren says — they don’t snap the answer, but it’s a near thing. They reach for her folder in an attempt to distract themself, but Elżbieta slaps her hand down onto it to stop them.
The two of them war over it for a few seconds before she relents and they draw it closer to them. But they don’t open it.
“I said I’d be back before the new moon. That’s two days from now.” She hopes her voice is reassuring. “You know what it’s like out there. It’s hard to get updates back to camp when across the delta.”
“I know,” Sorren says so quickly they almost cut her off. Then, after a pause, they sigh and rub their hand over their face. “I know.”
Elżbieta can read the exhaustion in the pinched corners of their eyes and the stiffness in their shoulders. It’s not just the injury; it’s everything else on top of it. “You just wish it was you out there instead?”
They make a sound in the back of their throat and shake their head, though even that is enough to make them give another wince and reach for their injured arm. “I don’t know. Maybe. I don’t like sending anyone out if I’m not also out there with them. It’s just that when I get rumors of Dragomir’s crackdowns but no updates from you for three weeks—”
She reaches for them, but stops herself with her hand hovering uncertainly in the space between them.
Sorren finishes the gesture, taking her hand in their own and lifting it to their lips. “I’m glad you’re alright.”
Elżbieta leans in to press her forehead to theirs. “I’m glad to be back,” she murmurs, content for the moment to leave it at that.

Cabin In The Clouds (TMA #Evento1Aniversario)
Hello there! A Discord Spanish-speaking TMA fanbase (SEOSQUIEREMUCHO) have organised this teeny tiny event trying to put together writing and drawings set in canon for the 1st Anniversary of MAG200 (already did the compulsory relisten and crying and, man, have I heard it like five times? I don't know; I just know I look STUPID while listening to it bcs I get sooooo expressive)
Anyways, here it is my piece: a study on The Scottish Cottage but...it isn't fluff...well, you'll see!
Forgive all my quick tipper and non-native speaker mistakes,
Marla
(Now also on AO3!)
Every person on planet Earth understands that, every single time a human being is born, there is part of those in charge of raising them (or, if you may, construct them) that will turn into an undeniable influential piece of what would eventually construct the full-craved individual said person is due to become.
It doesn’t seem to be such a straight-forward concept when it comes to buildings or any other artificial lifeless items, though.
However, the fact that we do not perceive so (or, in most cases, it could be argued, we do not wish to perceive so) doesn’t mean that it is not happening. For, isn’t a hand-made scarf always ever so slightly more warm and comfortable that the one manufactured, even when said piece of clothing is of the highest quality?
Of course, this is not equally remarkable for every object of study we might take into consideration. There is a plethora of variables to take into account; from the nature of our subject of study to the historical and cultural context in which it was created and, later on, used.
One clear example of great influence through the flesh-creators of these tangible tokens is the one to be noticed in cabins and other sorts of small habitable architectural pieces.
As it is the cabin we are about to analyse in this chapter.
In the middle of a Scottish valley stands a cosy wooden cabin, surrendered by hills high enough for the local people to casually refer to them as mountains, and yet still being obviously just barely enough worth of their original classification as Hills. So short they were in comparison to, almost, any other hill that anyone from a land with actual considerable mountains would just laugh at the notion of said geographic accident being referred as anything even remotely close to a mountain.
Said wooden cabin was first made after the end of that dreadful period of time that was then known, not without certain level of naïveté, as The Great War.
It was built by one Joshua Fielding (no relation to the dreadful man that will forever be studied as one of the key pieces in the Event that teared our world apart, its effects still palpable even after it was reversed by the willingly brave women whose names are to remain anonymous for their own intimacy and well-being, as well as the tragically departed Martin Blackwood and Jonathan Sims), after the horror of war had taken the life of both his brother and his lover in front of his once beautiful light blue eyes, now turned into a dirt dark grey, almost black but not even quite, as if they weren’t alive enough even to achieve that degree of totally in its pigmentation.
His whole body had also greatly changed after the spoils of war had craved a perpetual mark on his whole being. Once a man even mocked for his soft figure, he had become a scrawny creature that, somehow, had a strength only expected of the most muscular of men.
These details were described in great detail by his little sister, who fancied herself a physician even though she wasn’t allow as near as five miles from any campus as long as she tried to approach said places in the quality of a student.
For what had been found, it is a celebrated fact that her knowledge and medical abilities were rather remarkable and well put into practice among the common folk all around the vast territory of the Scotland landscape.
It was the combination of these two factors (the traumas of the brother and the will of the sister to be able to put into practice all the facts and skills contained within her) the reason why they both decided to leave their family household in Oxford and go all the way up to the place where, with their not unremarkable monetary resources and the new-found strength of Joshua, the cabin was built.
A cabin built by a man constantly haunted by Death. A Death he had, in reality, cowardly escaped by hiding while the two most important people in his live (for, after all, he was a man of his times and, then of course, his sister had always came as a close second in what importance was referred) were killed by enemy fire.
The very same Death he wished came for him and, yet, dreaded more than anything else in the entire world.
This was in the foundation of their new residence, every single wooden piece put into place with the almost subconscious wish of it being both another piece of his very own coffin and a protection barrier against his final breath’s arrival.
If this wasn’t enough for the building to get soaked into The End itself as it was being constructed; there was the fact of the sister, of course.
Julia Fieldling (later Shelley, though the information regarding her husband is quite thin and unreliable for the most part) might have been extremely prepared in an intellectual and even practical level for the job she would spent the rest of her life practising on an almost daily basis; but she was still a young woman from an overprotective privileged family and, hence, when first faced with a patient that could not be healed, she crumbled into pieces, even if only for an instance.
This event repeated itself over and over, every time science of the time, her own limitations or nature itself made it impossible for her to save the person in front of her.
Departure just wasn’t made for her.
As she had been kind enough to tell in her personal diaries, this would have ended her if it wasn’t for a solution she came to as she succumbed to a terrible mental breakdown when a little orphan girl died in her desk of operations after an incident so gruesome it will be better left out of this report.
That dreadful evening, she found herself so covered in human blood; her corset was starting to feel heavier, soaked in the red liquid as it was.
Being too in shock and knowing it was supposed to be a busy evening, she carried on in those very same garments, not even cleaning her hands and, every time a drop of the little kid’s blood touched an open wound and/or orifice of her current patient, they always healed, never died under her command of the day.
Marvelled, she started a gruesome practice every single time someone was taken by Thanatos: opened them, almost as a butcher rather than a physician, and covered herself on the dead person’s blood.
According to her, it worked like a charm; and, for what the study of the Former Entities had provided us, this sounds quite plausible.
Just as the insinuations extracted from her diaries that sometimes she let one person go so many more could be saved.
There was only one significant problem she was presented with: she was still a proper dame and, after she came home every day, she needed a place to get cleaned; so she asked her older brother to build her a small lavatory whose only use would be to take away the already by then brownish blood.
All that death, all that supposedly supernatural charm filling the room day after day, some of said blood even starting leaving permanent stains on the wooden walls...it just kept piling up inside the newly erected place.
The cabin was definitively Marked.
Of course, it didn’t aftect the siblings much as it affected their occasional tenants, most of whom could easily be tracked down when they came back to their regular lives, often marked by a complete swift of character and even physical appearance, more usually than not followed by tragedy and despair in all forms and shapes.
All thrown upon their own mortality in a myriad of perturbing manners, some relatable enough to make almost anyone with the bare minimum of sentiment in them feel, at the very least, uncomfortable in their own skin at the mere thought of them.
The bleak fame of the cabin grew up to an extent in which it was decided by the nearest village people to never get close to the place and warning every oblivious potential guest against even set one foot inside the wooden-based building.
Therefore, after both siblings died (tragically soon, must be mentioned), the place became abandoned, completely deprived of the existential horror consuming both Joshua and Julia and, eventually, starving to the point The End’s presence was just a latent one.
For Death is unavoidable and, even in these new times, the dread of it catching up cannot be outrun forever.
It all changed when one Arthur Bouchard (in this case, he was actually related to which the high-society family from which the victim-accessory of Jonah Magnus’ crimes, one Elias Bouchard, belonged) bought it as a present for the Police Force, for he had personal interests in a certain line of his business to be kept under the rug and had known for quite some time about the need of certain members of the police to have a place where to dispose of both part of their special cases and some terrible yet unavoidable mistakes made in the regular line of duty.
At first, the feeling fulfilling the cabin wasn’t as different as what had previously taken upon it from its very floors to the highest point of its chimney; as corpses started to accumulate on its outskirts.
However, as the police people started to come in more frequently and to feel clearly more comfortable in it, there was one new influence awakened inside of the property.
The thrill of the kill, the new owners all felt. The fact that, from time to time, especially when it was one of the infamous Section 31 cases, the victims would came still alive, for their proper termination was in order according to its captors (and, even occasionally, final hunt ).
This all managed to change what the cabin was, turning itself into a place sadly known for the destiny reserved to the not quite constant, and yet usual enough to be worth mentioning, stances of regular people who just went hiking and decided to stop there for a wide variety of reasons.
These individuals, if violent enough on their own, quickly became a danger to anyone who didn’t watch the world as they did.
And, tragically enough, this usually meant many innocent people getting hurt by people that, the irony, eventually were hunted down by The Police itself in their less public domain, becoming yet another corpse in the backyard of the place that had turned down the filters that had previously contained their most animal side.
The circle complete, nurtured, ever growing…
…until one very day when, for once, good intentions crossed the paths of these individuals acting in a morally indefensible manner in the name of justice and, never forget, under the Name of the Law.
Alice ‘Daisy’ Toner is a rather polemic figure, in the centre of most arguments of the still ongoing attempts to completely redo the way Law and Justice are assured in our world; for she was once one of the most efficient engines of this rotten system, and still managed to walk away.
Even though, in her particular case, it was far beyond the commons laws of nature (for more references, see the bibliography section of these article).
It was her the one who, almost by accident, gave the cabin a new purpose when, in a gentle gesture she had been barely conscious she was doing, once took her new companion to the cabin, as she had been injured by a creature that was far too horrible to even begin being described with mere words.
She healed her, took care of her and made sure their superiors had absolutely no clue about how their mission had gone.
Both Toner and the other now former cop (once again, for their own shake, the still alive people in this narrative will remain unnamed) returned and, though both were without the shadow of a doubt part of the system still feeding the needs of the cabin (especially Toner, even if her companion’s participation in these corrupted system shall not be forgotten), they always brought with them part of that worry for each other, that companionship that, if not having a proper positive outcome in what the cabin did to people inside of it, it clearly buffered the current effect on them.
From that moment on, this buffer kept increasing until the day the final stone was put.
The day two people as in love, as two people in extreme dreary circumstances can allow themselves to be, temporarily become part of the household.
What a shame it didn’t last but, once again, what does in this world of us?
Before The World Changed, two key pieces of that equation (the aforementioned Jonathan Sims and Martin Blackwood) were hiding themselves of a plethora of the threats that made said Change come to be ( for more details, it is especially encouraged to consult Melanie King-Baker’s The Sixteenth Fear is Still Capitalism ), using the place not only as a safe haven, but also as the perfect lieu to learn as much as possible about each other; to discover the other person and whether they were really the one they could just hold onto in the middle of a storm and, even though in reality knowing it was of no use, feel completely safe and sound if only for an instance.
The answer was affirmative and, not only that but, for what we can gather of Martin Blackwood’s personal diaries (all of Sims’ records on the matter were lost, as any other piece of information recorded in a tape recorder within those five years), they helped each other begin healing much more deep traumas.
Once again, this didn’t turn the cabin into a proper place of personal growth but, at least, made The Hunt run away from it, defeated, knowing itself to have no more business in the proximities.
Leaving, that way, space enough for another thing to occupy it once The Event took place.
Something far much worse.
For obvious reasons, trusting completely Blackwood’s diaries from The Event time period is a quite unadvisable attitude. However, since he and his partner seemed to be two of the few people whose ability to discern truth from illusion remained in an actual healthy shape, we would have to rely on them.
Picture these two men, victims of a world of human monsters that had surrendered themselves willingly to forces that they could not truly grasp, as much as they had believed they did; in the middle of a land that, after all, wasn’t exactly their motherland, and that now was not even recognisable as the landscape they were starting to become used to.
They only had each other but, for how long? And, would that be enough if there was not even a place to be them per se?
An almost sickening need of holding to the other started to grow deep within themselves; though it came not only from them, but also from the house.
The cabin that now had its own agenda and knew how delicious those two afraid souls were. Therefore, it made them cling to one another up to the point Blackwood tells us how once his partner just started randomly weeping when he left for a blanket, truly believing he was leaving him for good.
Of course, the harm didn’t end just right there.
Death made its great comeback, for both men couldn’t even tell what perspective was more dreadful: not being able to die, forever trapped in a non-moving continuum of pure horror; or dying at different times, not noticing, not wanting to realise that the other one was nothing but a lifeless body held by their weakening arms.
And the solitude…oh! How Lonely one can become when you want the person you care the most about not to realise how broken you are. Because they need you to stay strong, even if that means that the part of you that more company needs will remain in between shadows, getting lonelier by the minute.
Finally, never forget The Beholding.
Many things had been said about Sims’ connection to The Eye, but his ultimate sacrifice must speak for itself, and, even if said rumours were true up to any level, that doesn’t mean it was a pleasing connection and, more certainly, the way that wooden floors and walls crawled on them, not allowing them the pure minimum intimacy they so much needed and deserved was not a pleasure experience.
Eventually, both men left the place behind, Martin Blackwood’s memories left behind. Perhaps a mistake, perhaps a completely intentional action. This study would not fuel the conspiracy theories that some others are so willing to spread and, in case you were wishing to follow that line of thought, I shall recommend you the reading of the paper The Fear of Well-Placed Rage by Rose Zampano, so you can reconsider said opinion after having contrasted your vision on the matter with someone who had actually studied it in depth.
However, The Cabin (as avatars had come to be spelled always with capital letter, so should this building during The Event) kept its alliances and, for the very few lucky souls that wasn’t trapped in their own realm of horror and pain, it became their very personal torturer.
Just until The Event ended, becoming once again just again a regular cabin.
Or, perhaps, being so for the very first time.
The fog surrounding the cabin was even thicker than usual as the woman closed the book in her hardened hands.
Basira sighed as she finished re-reading her own words.
It had been a month since her book studying some of the most interesting formerly cursed objects had been released (wonderfully illustrated by Georgie) and, though she had finally chosen to publish it under a pseudonym, most people in her life knew it had been written by her.
The former cop, former archival assistant, former apocalypse-fighter, current survivor or far too many traumas to even get a hold of them in a few scattered words allowed herself to look up, facing the cabin right next to her.
It hurt, it hurt to even simply contemplate it; it had hurt even as she had approached in her car, looking from afar.
The place just screamed Daisy in a tone that would have made sound soft the one she used herself in her nightmares, as she shot her over and over and over again.
She couldn’t even point out how long it had been since the last time she had actually been there; though she knew it had been already quite a while before…before everything.
A lock of greyed hair covered one of her eyes and she could not help but think about Jon, about how she would have liked to meet him in a different context (even though, she knew, she might have still been a cop –and he wouldn’t have liked that so much, or at all, to be completely honest- and he would have acted as stuck-up as Melanie constantly complained he had used to –thing that would have likely made her just leave the man alone rather quickly-).
She wondered, once again, whether he and Martin had actually made it through. They had already buried the couple, to empty tombs as hollow as their hopes of them being… alright, as they should have been.
However, Hope sometimes can be even more painful than Fear and she couldn’t get herself round to stop believing that, Somewhere Else, they were just fine.
Or as fine as any of them could ever be, that is.
And it bloody hurt; to realise how wrong she actually was and how head-bound she was to keep being so.
She turned her attention once again to the now abandoned wooden building, once a perfect place to cover straight-up murders (no matter how the discourse was lighted in its time), then the only save haven two people had ever known in their entire lives; then, a prison and torturer just as any other.
She let her fingertips felt the entirety of the humid wood; now forming a mundane cabin.
Because that is all it was now.
It had to be, for all to have been worth something (Daisy calling her name with an almost animal grunt, the months turning into years looking for two corpses that just wouldn’t appear…).
It had to be.

Okay, so. a little late, I know. Believe me, I listened to Lover as soon as it came out like everyone else. And as I listened to it for the first time, without anyone else’s input or opinions or impressions, I recorded my thoughts.

ok here’s my really long night vale meta
(I want to just start by saying that I love Welcome to Night Vale more than any other show that I’ve ever listened to or watched. I’m not sure if I would even still be here without the positive change it brought to my life and the art form it introduced me to. So although this post is critical of recent story develops, please understand that I critique with love, and that I have nothing but the highest respect for the writers and cast.)
So let’s get into it.
This turned out way longer than I meant for it to be.
Since the beginning, each season of Welcome to Night Vale is basically self-contained. The things brought up in them can stretch across seasons, but for the most part any conflict or Big Bad brought up will be resolved when that season ends, which typically is on June 15th.
Let’s look at the first five seasons and their overarching in-season arcs.
Season One: The introduction season. This season laid the groundwork for all the seasons to come and established Cecilos. The arc of the Apache Tracker was resolved within this season.
Season Two: The Strexcorp season. This season taught us a lot about the characters, and about Desert Bluffs.
Season Three: The auction season. This is also the long-distance relationship season for Cecil and Carlos. Both plotlines are resolved beautifully by the end and relate well to each other.
Season Four: The beagle season. Also known as “Who’s a good boy?”. The evil beagle puppy was defeated by the end of the season. I felt like this season’s arc felt very natural and was enjoyable to listen to.
Season Five: The Huntokar season. A lot of things that have been building slowly come together. We finally meet Huntokar after hearing a lot about her throughout the show. The small arc of converging timelines is resolved, but as we will see, it later comes back.
So that’s the first five seasons.
Now, as far as writing styles go, Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor are pretty formulaic. (This is also evident in their other shows, Alice Isn’t Dead and Within the Wires). I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all. Quite the opposite - I think one of the reasons why Night Vale is so endearing to so many people is because you always know what to expect: the complete unexpected. The world is weird and it doesn’t make sense, but it’s consistent in its inconsistency. You’ll get a community calendar or sponsor, you’ll get deep thoughts about life, and you’ll get a weather. Similarly, with the seasons, you’ll get a problem introduced over the course of the season, and then it will be resolved.
But as you can probably see from the list I’ve written out, the seasons don’t exist in a bubble from each other. The things that happen affect each other. The arrival of Strexcorp in town was what eventually drove Carlos through into the desert otherworld, which set up the conflict for season 3. The tiny city under the bowling alley in season 1 was revisited to teach us more about Huntokar in season 5. Each season has a different flavor, but they’re all ultimately the same dish, if that metaphor makes any sense.
And this is where we get into the issues I’ve been having with the most recent three seasons. My biggest problem is simple. They just don’t have a distinct flavor like the other seasons do. They don’t have anything that stands out to me.
Let’s take a look at seasons six and seven, and then the first episode that dropped today of season eight.
Season Six: The guest writer season. This season was mostly written with guest writers that would do a mini-arc of two to three episodes.
Season Seven: The Carlos’s Double/Blood Space/Lee Marvin/Thanos-Snap season. Not sure what else to call it.
The basic premise of season six was that it would be a bunch of character-driven stories set in the world of Night Vale, most of which were written by guest writers. To me, worldbuilding and characters are more important than plot every time, so I didn’t hate this as a concept. It was just... the execution honestly wasn’t all that interesting to me. I feel like the way the characters were discussed moved their placement within the world, but it didn’t actually change anything we knew about them. Tamika’s episodes, for example, didn’t really show us anything new about her, they just showed us how she acted as a city council leader instead of a militia leader (spoiler alert: pretty much exactly the same).
My biggest problem with season six is that it set up a lot without actually doing anything. All of the best moments from season six were things I thought we would revisit later: who will be the mayor now that Dana stepped down? What is it Carlos is still keeping from Cecil? What’s up with the shipwreck? But then all of these things were totally forgotten in season seven. It was like the writers didn’t care. That may be because they were established by different writers, but it still feels... I don’t know, *Cecil voice* Incomplete?
Now let’s talk season seven. I think season six was definitely the weakest of all Night Vale seasons, but this was a close second (and that shows you how much I love this show, because even the weakest seasons had moments that blew me away, and I’ve relistened to most of the episodes at least once, if not more.) Season seven, like season six, just had way too much going on. For the first few months there was no plot whatsoever, just a bunch of disjointed episodes with seemingly no relation to each other.
And don’t get me wrong - I think a lot of these episodes were amazing. Are You Sure? was thrilling, totally game-changing for podcasts. Save Dark Owl Records was a really great look at Maureen and Michelle. I’ve relistened to UFO Sightings a bunch. But there’s a difference between enjoying episodes alone and thinking they fit in a larger story. And so while I really like a lot of the episodes of season seven... they’re kind of pointless story-wise. What disappointed me the most was the Kevin mini-series near the start of the season - Kevin is one of my favorite characters, and so while I liked to see him happy, I was annoyed that they forgot about him again after the arc ended and they moved on.
That’s because season seven didn’t really have a story - it had a bunch of stories. The problem is that they weren’t introduced until near the very end. We had the Lee Marvin arc that started somewhere in the middle, and I did like that. I thought it was cool to take what seemed like a throwaway gag and turn it into a story, especially one that seemed relatable. But running this arc concurrently with the Blood Space War arc didn’t make any sense to me. There were a bunch of times that I thought the two could relate - linking time travel to being trapped in time would be pretty easy, I thought. But that never happened.
Then the Blood Space War arc nosedived into a pit of emotion after both Cecil and Carlos were erased from history, and I was ecstatic. Not that Cecil and Carlos had been erased - but that the show was taking such a drastic emotional change. It felt like a shift in tone, but also consistent to the show’s format, hitting that perfect sweet spot. I was even more excited when I found out that the resolution to this was that Leonard Burton would have to die again. That seemed like the perfect end to his (albeit brief) character arc, and a great emotional high for the season.
And then the next episode was just... Cecil saying everything had been fixed.
That really disappointed me. It felt so anticlimactic, especially considering the heights some of the other season finales had reached (I’m especially thinking of the dog’s ominous barking right before the finale of Who’s A Good Boy, and the town almost being destroyed). The ending to the Blood Space War arc felt rushed to me. I liked the close of the Lee Marvin arc, but everything else seemed a little off-beat.
I think a big problem with season six and seven is they try to take us to new things within the world of Night Vale, but they do that in a way that doesn’t actually show us anything we need to learn. Eunomia hadn’t been in any other seasons and her backstory was minimal, so her death in season seven had no real impact on me.
So why are they doing that? I don’t know. But it seems like the writing team has made the decision to utilize Cecil more as a voice for the town than an independent character, and are trying to let other people take the spotlight. However, because Cecil is by far one of the strongest and most beloved character, and because he drove most of the story for the first few seasons, this doesn’t work as well as you might hope.
I hoped that season eight might go back to the old format. However, the first episode was another self-contained episode (although I do love Josh Crayton), so that has me worried.
I guess I can say, there’s a difference between a story podcast and a storytelling podcast, does that make sense? Those might overlap, but they aren’t really the same thing. While a story podcast exists to have an overarching plot, a storytelling podcast just wants to put you in a world and let you look around. What I love so much about Night Vale is that it has always been able to be both. It has a plot, but it isn’t just a plot like many other shows are - it can let you walk around, run from government satellites, and NOT enter the dog park.
However, it seems to me that Night Vale is forgetting it does have a story, too. There are still SO many things from past arcs that haven’t been resolved yet. What’s more, the show doesn’t seem all that interested in resolving them. You can have floating cats and five-headed dragons, but you can’t give up an essential part of your show. That doesn’t mean the show can’t still be fun to listen to, if they decide the plot no longer matters. But I think it will be a little less rewarding.
And to finish I’ll just share my biggest fear: I really really really hope Night Vale isn’t going to become normal. At the end of season seven, time started working again. I’m so scared that they’re going to slowly convert the whole town to being normal before the show ends. And I think that would really suck, because it would change what Night Vale means to a lot of people, and what the town really is.
TL;DR: although it is one of the greatest shows ever, Welcome to Night Vale has recently started to stray from its established formulas, tropes and characters, especially in seasons six and seven. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, I feel like the way it’s been executed has weakened the recent episodes. Seasons six and seven also tried to fit too much in without actually doing anything to advance certain arcs or plot points. Nonetheless, it is a great show, and I’m optimistic about the future.
I’d love to have a dialogue about this so if you are the one person alive who’s going to read this, please don’t hesitate to comment or send an ask! Again, I absolutely love this show, these are all just my opinions, and my ability to critique the show exists outside of my adoration for it.
Now I should sleep.

Ketch-Up: Jan - Mar 2020
Okay so I’ve been terrible at this blog thing, only posting sometimes, but I guess that’s why I have it, it’s just for me to post shit when I feel like it. So I decided to do this new Ketch-Up series for whenever I want to talk about a bunch of stuff at once. So a lot has happened at the start of 2020, musically, in the book world and with TV. So my plan is to just talk about certain things in each category and see what happens.
Movies:
Since getting Netflix for Christmas, I have been watching a lot of stuff. There are five movies I’d specifically like to talk about, which I watched from January till the beginning of March, but these are by no means even half of the amount of movies I watched, just the ones I need to write about.
6 Balloons
So I started watching this after I finished Now You See Me 2 and I just wanted more Dave Franco because I love him, so 6 Balloons popped up as being one of his recent films and I decided to watch it after being intrigued with the synopsis. Firstly, I was not expecting it to be scripted and filmed the way it was. It was super emotional and I have mixed feelings about it, although I do not regret watching it. It’s major theme is addiction, so if you're not into that, or it may trigger you, don’t watch it because that’s all it’s about. I really did like the brother and sister dynamic that it had, but the whole journey that the main character goes through to help her brother is stressful and it had this creepy stress reliever audio going on in the sister’s head which really put me off, but was powerful at the same time.
Miss Americana
This one is the documentary of Taylor Swift and I loved it. I thought it was so interesting and even watched it again with my mom because I thought that Taylor’s story was such an intriguing one. I really understand now where she was at with the Reputation album and the reason for the song choices she had. At first I was not a big Taylor Swift fan except for the occasional song, but now I gotta say that with this Lover era and Taylor being more open and using her voice for what she believes in, I may become a full blown Swifty.
P.S. I Still Love You
The sequel to To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is a rom com, based off of the YA book series, which I have read and enjoyed. The first movie was really great which I have watched more than once, so I was expecting good things from this next movie. And it definitely wasn’t bad, but I did not fully enjoy the second book, so it’s not surprising that I didn’t love this movie. I’m just a big Peter Kavinsky fan and when John Ambrose McClaren shows up, I just cringe. Also Lara Jean is more cringy in this movie because of the way she plays both John and Peter and is practically running away from her problems with Peter, and reliving baby school romance with John Ambrose. I just think the idea of liking a guy that you had a crush on when you were ten is so stupid because no one is the same person from when they were ten, and all those “moments” that you had were really nothing more than two kids hanging out! I would rather have just had the first book be a standalone I think.
Marriage Story
This movie is really sad. It won an Oscar so I thought I should look into it. I saw it on Netflix and really liked the plot so I watched it and boy was it ever sad. The whole plot is about divorce and the whole experience and journey to actually getting a divorce and how it is so easy for it to get messy even with two adults who are still friends. I thought it was a very well made movie and I loved both Scarlett Johanson and Adam Driver in it. They did so well.
Crazy Stupid Love
This was one of my more recent watches and I was pleasantly surprised with the way the story went. I really liked a lot of the elements of the story, but some parts did make me feel uncomfortable. Like the babysitter having a crush on the dad and was going to send him nudes, while his son had a major crush on her. It was just really weird, but the overall themes of family were really sweet, and the same goes for the friendship the dad had with the young guy in the bar who started to date his oldest daughter. But overall it was really good.
TV Shows:
Formula One: Drive to Survive Seasons 1 & 2
As our first real Netflix watch, my family and I got addicted to this docuseries. I thought it was interesting and amazing for the whole first season and when the second season came out, it just got better. In the second season we got to see the bigger formula one teams as well as all of the drama with the smaller teams and see the totally different worlds with the ones with money and the ones without. It was honestly an amazing ride and I can’t wait for the next season.
Sherlock Season 1
This is the other full season that I watched in these three months and I got to say that I really enjoyed it. Honestly some parts freaked me out, but overall I loved learning and seeing Sherlock and Watson grow together. The mysteries were all very intriguing and made me want more and I will definitely continue watching through the next seasons.
Books:
This list is without my most recent read, Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare, because I have a whole other post/review for that one, so if you want to hear my thoughts, check it out, either on my post list, or scrolling down to the post before this one!
Beartown by Fredrik Backman
This book was amazing! The way it was written was literally the most powerful thing I have ever experienced. This book does deal with heavy subjects, but the way it is told is so cool, showing everyone’s perspective. If you get the chance to read this, then do it because it will change you.
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
So this book I had heard so many good things about so I was excited to read it, but the problem was that I have been in kind of a reading slump, and starting a new fantasy series is never the smartest thing to do when that happens. But I had heard great things, so I thought that this book would get me out of that slump, but it epicly failed. It was a good book and I enjoyed the plot, but there was nothing supper exciting or special about it. I think I’ll still read the second book, but it’s not high on my priority list. It just wasn’t the best time for me to read it I guess.
China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan
This book was fun to read. I had been wanting to read it ever since I finished Crazy Rich Asians, but just hadn’t gotten the time to, but I’m glad I finally have because it’s such a nice fluffy read, filled with drama, but you don’t really have to think during the read. It’s a perfect reading slump read. Definitely recommend the series, it’s a ride in a good way.
Catharsis: Pain by Rowan Dugray
This book is actually all poetry which is very outside of my comfort zone, but a girl I knew in high school wrote this so I had to buy it and read it. I got to say that I was really impressed and I really liked a lot of the poems. Lots of them were very thought provoking and relatable, while others were just very sad and painful. But that’s the beauty of poetry, it’s pure emotion and abstract feelings put into words.
Romanov by Nadine Brandes
This one was also a slow read, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t enjoyable. It was actually very educational and I loved seeing the way that Russia was during the revolution. It was a slow burn type of book, but the characters were fun people to read about and see interact, so that made up for the lesser plot points in the book. I loved the end and thought it was a very good book overall.
Music:
These are just a few of the songs and artists that I had a lot of feelings about and which came out during these months.
Faouzia- The Road
The Road was Faouzia’s first song out in 2020, but I also want to talk about her many singles that came out in 2019 as well because wow! I love Faouzia and all of her songs are just so powerful and beautiful. I need an album from her ASAP because I get literally too excited for new singles to come out and it’s almost toture waiting. She also posts her ‘work-in-progress’ snip-its and I literally just keep relistening to them when I get a craving for Faouzia and new music. When she comes out with an album, I will definitely listen to it on repeat.
Olivia O’Brien- The Results of My Poor Judgement
So at first I wasn’t sure about these mixtape things Olivia was starting to come out with, especially with the first one that was released at the end of last year. It was called “A Sad Fucking Summer” I think, and I wasn’t like really impressed, until this next mixtape came out. This mixtape, “Results of My Poor Judgement” has three songs on it, unlike the first one that only had two, and I am in love with all three! Literally they are just so good and I can’t stop listening to them. Josslyn is a literal bitch fest that makes me so happy, while the other two just hit hard in the emotions while they are still great bops. I don’t know how she does it!
Katy Perry- Never Worn White
For this one, I saw the video first when it was released and the number one viewed video on YouTube. At first I was confused because I didn’t know Katy Perry was engaged, and I was like this is for sure a wedding song. And then I got to the end of the video… and she’s pregnant! It was her pregnancy reveal, and I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever. I am a sucker for personal songs that show the singer's personal life and obviously have a lot of meaning to them. That’s probably why I never really liked Katy Perry’s newest stuff before, because it’s never felt really real to me and more just to make a pop album. But to see Katy Perry in this video, singing this song, made me so happy, especially since she was like my idol when I was little and now she’s growing up and moving on in life and it’s just really nice to see.
Julia Michaels- Heartless
I am a big Julia Michaels fan. (Not as big as a Halsey fan, but I do love Julia!) So until Julia starts releasing her own projects again, like hopefully a Inner Monologue Part 3, I will have to settle for collabs like this one. Honestly though, I really like this song and it’s got a lot of feeling to it while still making you want to get up and dance. It’s just a really good country number and I hope Julia does more country, because she sounds good in it.
Alec Benjamin- Narrated for You and These Two Windows
So the newest favourite artist I found these three months was Alec Benjamin! I love the newer music he’s releasing right now and can’t wait for his new album to come out in April, but also I discovered his debut album, which I was really impressed with. Lately I’ve been feeling like I haven’t had any good male artists in my phone that I’m supper obsessed with, like Ed Sheeran. But I’m hoping with this new year that changes and I already see it starting to, especially when I find good ones like Alec Benjamin.
Noah Cyrus- I Got So High That I Saw Jesus
I feel like this will be a good year for Noah Cyrus. It’s high time for a debut album from her, or even another EP, but I just need something because her newest music has just been stellar. I was worried at first that her brand would be more in the rap or emo stuff, but her music has been more my kind of music, slower and softer tunes with lots of feels. This song definitely shows that side of her and I love it.
If you made it to the end, thanks for reading my thoughts! I know it was long and probably boring, but oh well.
Until next time!

Players are ribbing Alex over how emotional the episodes are Alex: Elves all look the same to Bryn Bryn: poorly described characters look the same to Bryn Did it occur to either of you that there is a reason you weren't allowed in? That maybe it wasn't safe Ooh the guard was attacking them and was killed by a tomb trap Hamid is done with Howard Khufu is Pre-meritocracy this sounds worth a relisten when I'm not caught up on urgent matters Nuance Grizzop, he needs to confess to breaking in, not killing the guard, which you were game to string him up for Howard we didn't like you to begin with, quit digging Sasha have an ounce of understanding for Hamid Are you serious Howard? Oh God Alex is, the team is going to do the same thing just on the up and up Howard has gone from taking responsibility for everything to nothing; while still thinking he is the most important person in the world I get the temptation Sasha, but the paladins really should object to assaulting a prisoner in their charge Ben "oh no the roof of the orphanage"? The guards don't want to deal with the hassle and won't listen to the confession Oh really Grizzop, is it maybe like people should listen to context before closing the case? Drop the Tahan name and now they scramble ...to the wrong conclusion Hamid is still convinced of the power of talking it out. I wish that getting people to actually listen was the same as just saying the words in their hearing Azu has a problem power structure of the LOLOMG. Hamid is willing to reform it but not when they are trading on his name and perceived power to them in Paperwork is important Alex I don't like that call for a linguistic check, is there something wrong with the paperwork? Yeah the guards being on the level isn't the same as whether justice will be served Go Lydia! I love her comments on the justice system Finally taking a break to plan for the future "Grizzop and Hamid are a rounding error" on whether the celestial camel can carry all of them Azzop's main priority is Sasha, my heart They suggest looping Saira in before it occurs to Hamid. I know you don't want to launch straight into it, but less small talk; more curses and not actually murder Poor Saira Um she did ask so maybe also mention the "Apophis is your grandfather" Oscar, of course There you go And that's the break No we don't know how bad this is Did Alex take Bryn's wanting a character that could to turn into a dragon, to set up the breaking of this world's government? Grizzop jumps to Saira having them all killed to keep the knowledge down to family No Saira, you needed to know as head of the family I don't think anyone else needs to know including Apophis. Keep quiet and maybe check if the twins have claws. Do not do a press release announcing that The Meritocrats have kids and patronize their banks London is what? Other London riots? Random chaos? We just talked to Barrett How much does Apophis need to know they know? Dangerous game to pretend ignorance but so is letting him know they know Hamid hug of the episode? Poor Sasha wants to go back, Hamid is willing to go but wants them to have a plan and cure Sasha first. Grizzop, on the bow of Artemis, if you don't let him comfort her and back his play for five minutes... "we don't have Bertie to shout them down now"- Sasha is at least willing to let them try to cure her before they run off to London half cocked Alex did you think for a minute Hamid was just going to say "all's well that ends well" and take up the planing in the morning? Part of me wants him to open the conversation with "if you were willing to talk for five minutes before jumping straight to turning in my brother you might have found out there wasn't actually a murder". Most of me knows it's time for Hamid to be all leader-y and focus on the future. And maybe clear up their understanding of his own crimes before they jump to anymore conclusions Good let's talk Lydia is having fun Oh come on he didn't ask them cover up for his brother he asked for their help figuring out what to do in light of his father's false confession, specifically how to make Jr bear responsibility outside of the judicial system. He wasn't all in the right but he asked for five minutes and a conversation before they acted and Azzop wanted to hand over Jr immediately. If they hadn't had this conversation in front of Howard they never would have known Jr was a) cursed and b) not a cold blooded murderer Hamid is actually asking for honest clarification so he can understand what he did wrong Ow Hamid stepped right in it And Azzop don't see anything wrong on their end Actually Grizzop he explicitly didn't want to just exile Jr he wanted you advice on what he should do and you didn't even want to explain why other options wouldn't work before all but calling him evil He is honestly asking to learn why what he did was wrong so he doesn't do it again No he didn't make the decision on his own, he wanted to talk to his friends before making one Azu is at least willing to accept his apology There is the real hug of the episode. Azu thinks he was making a mistake but understands wasn't out of evil Oh Hamid, 1)prank gone wrong (because of GIDEON) is different than a co-conspirator died trying to kill you and 2)for the love of Aphrodite tell the paladins the full story on that before Grizzop gets ideas 3)have a possibly separate conversation with Sasha about how your family is messed up but not actually Mafia Was the sandstorm specifically so the party couldn't split on Alex again? Alex I swear she better make those saves Poor Hamid would have nightmares Good Hamid hit a nerve with Grizzop Oh Azu has faith that it would be OK if they chat it out? You know like Hamid wanted to?* The grammar is what breaks Ben, not the nearly party breaking fight? Azu has to roll to pick up that Sasha wasn't actually just complimenting the staff Oh Sasha, you do have people to care about and who care about you Hamid want to tell them about your past now? Oh so Grizzop sees no conflict with his assumption that the only justice is within the law and letting Hamid atone in his own way Thank you Sasha, he needs to explain rather than just keep calling himself a murderer without context *yeah I am going to keep on this hill, he wanted to talk before making a decision; you would have handed over a man for murder and call it a day without even hearing the context of Hamid asking for your input. That's before you get into him being nineteen asking  advice from his paladin friends. Or that near as I can tell the only way Sr shows that he cares about them is providing money and shielding them from consequences. Or that I still think a major factor in Sr's decision is that if the guy responsible for protecting the vault breaks in and kills someone that's just on him; but if he fails to prevent his son from doing the same that looks like a multi-generation conspiracy that could destroy trust in the entire family and the bank they run.

take the stage and deliver by mothwrites | Wolf 359 | Jacobi/Kepler | 3k | “Why me?” Jacobi asked.“You’re just his type,” Cutter said. “He’ll never see it coming.”
push to the limit by gortysproject | Wolf 359 | Jacobi/Kepler | 10k | five times kepler asks too much of jacobi, and one time jacobi can't pull through for him.
you be the motor, I'll be the gasoline by crookedfingers | Wolf 359 | Jacobi/Kepler | 5k | The hold music begins before Jacobi can finish his sentence. He blinks at the far wall and then glances at a clock. He’ll give it thirty seconds before he hangs up.Then the music stops jarringly mid-note and someone says, “Thank you so much for your patience. I understand that you’re seeking career opportunities with Goddard Futuristics.”
life 2.0 by goldtreesilvertree, mothwrites | Wolf 359 | Jacobi/Eiffel | 5k | "Alright... Daniel. Why are we having a movie night?" Minkowski never seemed the type to be into movie nights, and Hera probably doesn't get the point. He's beginning to get the feeling this will be the first movie night Eiffel 2.0 is going to remember, and he doesn't know if that's a good thing."Because," Daniel says, passing him a DVD so he has to get up again, "I really want to watch this, and my usual movie-buddy is dead. My backup movie-buddy is also dead. Any further questions?"
'til your heart goes numb by LuckyDiceKirby | The Bright Sessions | Mark/Damien | 1k |  Instead of going out and getting drunk with Rose, Mark goes for a drive.
black sheep and mischief by grim_lupine | Thor | Thor & Loki | 3k | A bird alights on Thor’s shoulder and pecks his cheek twice, hard enough to make him wince.“What are you doing?” it warbles in his ear.“Wondering what my brother is doing up at this hour, little bird,” Thor replies. “Will you go ask him for me?”
(Lines on Palms by Fahye | Captive Prince | Damen/Laurent | 35k | "You're lying," Damen says. "You walked into Akielos and stole something from me.")**
On Tilt by 13th_blackbird | Solo | Han/Lando | 3k |  “You want to play?” Han says, nodding at the cards, before he can think better of it. “Or are you just showing off?”
tell me, get my shit together by paperclipbitch | Solo | Han/Lando | 5k | “I thought we were actively avoiding each other after the Trandosha Shitshow,” Han says.“We’re actively avoiding each other after the Iridonia Shitshow,” Lando corrects him, “the Trandosha Shitshow is That Which We Do Not Speak Of.”
Make Me Feel by Copper_Nails (Her_Madjesty) | Solo | Han/Lando | 2k | Winning the Falcon back is supposed to fill the empty space beneath his ribs. Han told himself this the whole way to Lando, tells it to himself again, now: it’s immensely satisfying to stare up at the ship’s sleek (battered) lines, so he can stop thinking about Crimson Dawn, thanks; can stop thinking about Beckett on the cliffside and Qi’ra, fading like a star in the morning.
Proving It by sailingonstardust | Solo | Han/Lando | 1.5k |  “You know,” Lando interrupts Han in the middle of a story about a seedy club and two twi’leks, “you can talk, and talk, and talk, but I don’t believe half the things you’re saying for even a second.”
one night on the falcon by topaz | Solo | Han/Lando | 3k |  If Han was the kind of guy who thought about things like this, the idea of fucking Lando Calrissian in the ship he'd used to own would have fallen somewhere on the Cool side of the prospective ideas spectrum, probably shading to the Not really likely to happen but still fun to think about group.
A Cornstalk Fiddle by notbecauseofvictories | Devil Went Down to Georgia | Devil/Johnny | 9k+ |  Where Johnny goes, the Devil follows; where Johnny goes, the Devil is already there.
The Beginning After the End by notbecauseofvictories | Star Wars | Padme & Obi-Wan | 7k |  Padmé wakes to the back of Obi-Wan’s head, his hair mussed and his arms spread, outstretched over her knees as though to shield her from all that would come.
( Stargazers by Ruby_Wednesday | Captive Prince | Laurent/Damen | 90k | Five years after the Truce of Marlas, Damen and Laurent meet again in Delpha. They're forced to work together to soothe the growing tension between their countries. But Laurent does not forgive easily and Damen's not that sorry.)
( One the Other by Ruby_Wednesday | Captive Prince | Laurent/Damen | 200k |  Marlas goes badly for Damen. He goes back to Ios with Laurent as his reluctant ward.)
July
Any More Obvious by idiopathicsmile | Les Mis | Eponine/Cosette | 2k | “Look, folks,” says Musichetta, ten minutes from the end of cheer practice, “we have an audience. A spooky audience.”
speak in tongues by SpineAndSpite | Yuri On Ice | Yuri/Otabek | 7k | The last time Yuri went sightseeing with Otabek it had been the middle of winter, and he only had breath to contemplate the speed of the bike and the warmth of Otabek through his jacket. A crowded bus is a far cry, but he still has the same feeling of displacement--of not knowing what will happen next.
cherry pie by brawlite, ToAStranger | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 133k | Billy Hargrove lives for summer. Endless sunshine, heavily chlorinated pools, roaming ice cream trucks, and unencumbered freedom? There’s nothing better.**
(you hate me) cause i got what you need by brawlite, ToAStranger | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 6k | “You smell like coconuts,” Billy murmurs. “Like the ocean, too.”
Draconia by perceived_nobility | The Bright Sessions | Damien/Mark | 4k | "So I was driving. One ex wife and one ex husband later, stopping at the same fucking gas stations you and I stopped at."
untalked of and unseen by prouvairing | If We Were Villains | James/Oliver | 5k | Four times Oliver and James slept together, and one time they didn’t. Not exactly in that order.
Swipe right by mee4ever | HP | Draco/Harry | 2k | Or then one where Harry swipes right, and it turns out Draco does too.
The Truth by mee4ever | HP | Draco/Harry | 4k | Or the one where Harry is too bloody thick to see the truth, even when it's staring him in the face.

Victory Condition by astolat | Transformers | Megatron/Optimus | 39k | “Do you want me to tell you a story?” Megatron said mockingly. “You won’t like it, Prime. It’s not a very nice one.”
chases, escapes, true love, miracles by pepperfield | The Flash | Cisco/Harry | 55k | Just because the timeline has been restored, doesn't mean things are back to normal. Cisco's got 99 problems, and Harry Wells is approximately 38 of them.
Turn by Ever-so-reylo (Ever_So_Reylo) | Star Wars | Reylo | 9k |  I would kill for you, he thinks at her, inside her, and this is the result of what they just did, the culmination of all of their history together. I would destroy the entire galaxy for this.
You should see the things we do by Ever-so-reylo (Ever_So_Reylo) | SW | Reylo | 13k | “Maybe Ben will come home from his business trip and bend me over the nearest piece of furniture and fuck me hard and fast.”
Your Pretty Little Heart by Ever-so-reylo (Ever_So_Reylo) | SW | Reylo | 64k |  “Good. Good little Omega.” He says the words against her gland, almost sweetly, and Rey—Rey is going to die. A wonderful, delicious death. Depraved, all of this. Filthy. Beautiful.
✓✓ Read by Boyue | South Park | Kyle/Stan | 65k | AKA how Stan Marsh met Kyle Broflovski through a dick pic mishap.
Pretend There Is No Wreck by LuckyDiceKirby | The Flash | Harrisco | 11k | Cisco and Harry figure out how to not kill each other, and also maybe how to talk about their feelings.
the cure by aquaexplicit | The Flash | Harrisco | 43k | “I guess I don’t really get what you need to fix? Harrison Wells is a hot, rich genius that pays you to make cool stuff with his daughter and is totally into you. If you guys boning is the biggest problem you have, I think this officially qualifies as your best relationship ever.”
and everything nice by perzimon | Voltron | Sheith | 5k | when he's beautiful and you love him but he can't make toast, the fic
hello, i love you, won't you tell me your name by perzimon | Voltron | Sheith | 12k | Keith's human enough to have wisdom teeth and unlucky enough to need them extracted. The team despairs.
Unexpected Developments by mific | SGA | McShep | 14k | Detective John Sheppard after Vegas (S5E19). His near-fatal wound's slowly healing and he's got his old job back, but then someone turns up unexpectedly who's a greater mystery than any of the cases on John's desk, and John has to make some hard choices.
teach me something new by tagteamme | Voltron | Sheith | 64k | Keith and Lance accidentally get into trouble. Shiro is the TA that has to Deal With It.
to go, to follow, to kneel at your feet by arahir | Voltron | Sheith | 12k | They think it will be funny to leave him with a Galra in heat.
called out your name (but it was too late) by arahir | Voltron | Sheith, Griffin/Keith | 5k | Walk into the Garrison like—wait, what the fuck, is that Keith? Or: an old classmate watches Keith fall in love with someone else.

The Time-Traveller's Portion by PutItBriefly | Pride & Prejudice | Elizabeth/Darcy | 7k | Darcy always knew she was to be his wife. He just didn't know she was poor.

songs about love by sarahyyy | YOI | Yuri/Otabek | 8k | In the embedded Instagram photo just under that subheading, a very grumpy Yuri is cuddling a very grumpy-looking cat. The caption reads: I found the cat version of me at the shelter today. #iknowisaidnomorecats #canyoublameme
Between the Lines by Dementordelta | Harry Potter | Snarry | 22k | Harry discovers a secret in his Potions text and a friend in the Half-Blood Prince.
More Than Gravity by JenTheSweetie | Marvel | Stony | 20k | “Aw, time travel, no.”On Christmas Eve, Tony came unstuck in time.
Of an Arcane Binding by Salvia_G | The Hobbit | Thilbo | 44k | An inexplicable magic ties Bilbo Baggins, hobbit of the Shire, to Thorin, dwarven prince of Erebor.
Back and Forth by kiyala | Yuri On Ice | Yuri/Otabek | 4k | Yuri convinces Otabek to get snapchat, just to send selfies of himself making faces at Victor and Yuuri. He gets more than he expected.
your tongue is sharp, but i miss the taste of it by thecopperkid | Stranger Things | Harringrove | 7k | Billy had one job -- don't take off the scarf. / Science is probably not Steve's strong suit, but he's really trying to make sense of why Billy's suddenly found him so appealing.
Things Already Said by balloonwhisk | The Bright Sessions | Damien/Mark | 4k | Damien gets a not entirely unwelcome early morning surprise.
Wreak Havoc by myfandomsareinfinite | EOS 10 | Ryan/Akmazian | 8k | Five Times Ryan Dalias Saved Akmazian's Life (Sort of) and One Time Akmazian Saved Ryan's (Sort Of).
you will see what it is to be overcome by magneticwave | Star Trek | Spirk | 10k | What kind of an idiot would try to explain magic to a Vulcan.
Bloody Ruin by esama | Castlevania | Alucard/Trevor | 37k | Vampire hunter and a vampire try to get along.
Minus 1 by Ever-so-reylo (Ever_So_Reylo) | Star Wars | Reylo | 6k | The text—'What’s up, daddy?'—was originally intended for Finn.
Paint it, red by CeruleanHeart | Stranger Things | Harringrove | 3k | " That's a pretty color..." Billy repeated and stepped closer, crowding Steve against the door "... for a pretty boy."
October
a road less traveled and a life less led by Azzandra | Dishonored | Gen, Outsider & Billie | 9k | She took him out of the Void, as promised. And then she kept him, she supposed.
Changing the Sound of Your Name by Agrotera | Dishonored | Outsider/Corvo | 14k |  It was the first thing she said to him when they stumbled out of the Void. You’re going to need a name. Emerging from the dark into what promised to be a lifetime of questions impossible to answer, and she broached the hardest one first.
if the end comes (don't let us hear it) by Kandakicksass | Dishonored | Outsider/Corvo | 5k |  "He comes in like a ghost in the fall of 1854."
Work of All Saints by antistar_e (kaikamahine) | Coco | Hector/Imelda/Ernesto | 210k | Imelda Rivera (b. 1899 - d. 1969), a story that includes but is not limited to: the finest music school this side of the Santo Domingo, three traveling musicians and the mess they made of love, the twice-cursed assassination of Venustiano Carranza, all the patron saints, and ninety-six ways a man can try to cross a bridge.**
Traveling Far by astolat | GOT | Jaime/Brienne | 24k |  Three weeks into their delightful slog across Westeros, during yet another charming day of shitting in the woods, eating half-raw squirrel, and trudging his feet bloody, the single most dour and uninteresting woman Jaime had ever met in all of Westeros stopped in the middle of a field, drew a deep breath, and said, “When I was seven, my aunt came to visit with her son. My father told me that as the daughter of the house, it was my duty to show hospitality to my guests and to be gracious to them. I wanted to make him proud. So for three weeks, I let my cousin follow me around and talk to me about spiders.”
insert baseball pun here by hoppnhorn | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 6k |  He’s considering taking up smoking again if it keeps him from trying to pick up Steve in the middle of the office. That’s really the last thing that he needs to do, start fucking around with someone he works with. He had sex with a coworker one time back in college when he worked at some shitty deli and that had devolved into his manhood being threatened with a meat slicer.
Regrowth by moogle62 | Uprooted | Agnieszka/The Dragon | 1k |  Agnieszka’s wood-green cottage stands waiting for her when she leads Sarkan carefully by the hand back home. They wind through the trees together and only she does not flinch at the stray touch of branches. The Wood has known her too completely, now, for her to mistake friend for foe.
I just met you (and this is crazy) by littlesystems | Captain America | Steve/Bucky | 41k | After Steve gets outed by a grainy cell phone picture, it takes the media less than 24 hours to discover Captain America’s secret relationship with James Barnes: classical musician, teen heartthrob, and son of a former president. The only problem? Steve has never met James Barnes in his life.
will you chew until it bleeds? by brawlite | Venom | Venom/Eddie | 7k |  Venom drags Eddie into a seedy club out of sheer curiosity. Trying to make the most of a night he didn't choose for himself, Eddie tries to get laid. Instead, he gets mugged. Afterwards, Venom doesn't let Eddie feel too disappointed about the missed opportunity.
devil's backbone by starscry | Castlevania | Alucard/Trevor Belmont | 3k |  “Come, now. I’ve seen you stalking around, pent up like a bitch in heat. You’re quite high-strung; it’s beginning to wear on the others, me included,” the vampire drawls. His sharp eyes find Trevor’s, narrowing slyly. “You need a good fuck.”
Steam and Skin by LuciferianRising | Castlevania | Alucard/Trevor | 5k |  He wanted to spare Sypha the horror of having to share a bath with either of them, but Trevor never imagined choosing to share it with Alucard would lead to this. He's not exactly complaining, however.
November
when the devil comes to plea (he'll be running quicker than you've ever seen) by Hornswaggler | EOS 10 | Ryan/Akmazian | 3k | Akmazian runs with some pretty shady people. Akmazian is a pretty shady person. Now the Destroyer of Stars has developed something of a soft spot. Not all of his employees approve.
like it's supposed to by Hornswaggler | EOS 10 | Ryan/Akmazian | 2k | Ryan is consistently busy. Luckily for him, that means he's consistently distracted from things he'd really rather not think about.Unluckily for him, he's apparently not too busy for impromptu visits from one of the most wanted men in the system.
a lesson in cartography by novembersmith | Uprooted | Agnieska/Sarkan | 7k | “I will never cease to be amazed at your unequaled talent for creating chaos out of the simplest components. You were meant to be scrying and map-making. What were you doing?”
heart on a string by jilliancares | She-Ra | Adora/Catra | A good Force Captain would do a lot of things that Catra wouldn’t, like not pulling their punches when fighting Adora and not sneaking into Castle Bright Moon for anything less than evil purposes. Unfortunately, Catra wasn’t a very good Force Captain, despite striving all her life to become one.No, everything had changed when Adora wandered into the stupid Whispering Woods to find a moral compass. Little did she know she was dragging Catra’s heart on a string behind her.

Aia ke ola i Motunui by asteriae | Moana | Moana/Maui | 25k | The trouble with saving the world and returning home a hero with a demigod by your side, is it really scares off potential suitors.
lilies of the valley (cover me with kisses, make my garden grow) by diasterisms | Star Wars | Reylo | 8k | Every girl is entitled to the mistake. That one colossal fuck-up that permanently alters the terrain of who you are. You'll either learn from it or you won't, so might as well have the time of your life.
Astronomical Odds by xzombiexkittenx for Cinnamaldeide | Hannibal | Hannigram | 2.5k |  Picked up a hitchhiker last night. He said, “Thanks! how do you know I’m not a serial killer though?” I replied, “The chances of two serial killers being in the same car are astronomical.”
meet me in the woods tonight by brawlite, ToAStranger | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 86k | There’s something in the woods of Hawkins, Indiana.
Notes of Noy, Notes of Joy by pendrecarc | Spinning Silver | Miryem/The Staryk | 5k | "I might wander ten thousand years in the goblin depths and never find a way out again...."Miryem descends into the depths with no more than a dagger in her hand, a mirror about her neck, and a song in her heart to bring her husband out again.
if you don't like the company, let's just do it you and me by hoppnhorn, thecopperkid | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 9k |  “Stevie, Stevie, Stevie,” Billy tuts, and it’s nearly sickening, too fucking good, the way he looks like he can think of nothing better than digging his teeth into Steve Harrington. “Look at you. What’re we gonna do with you, huh? Tell me what you want, pretty boy.”

Hi I really loved your YOI fic "Call Everything on the Ice"! I was also just wondering, though, how long have you been studying Japanese? Could you give some advice or resources how you're learning? I'm planning on going to Japan for my Asian Studies degree and hope to learn Japanese (or at least get a head start) before taking that leap. Hope this isn't a bother!!! Thank you if you have the time to answer!!!
Okay, so perhaps people have noticed that I tend to overanswer things? Yes, yes, that happens.
Me: Maybe only explain this a little bit.Me to me: Who are we kidding? Have five, count ‘em, five separate numbered lists.
Answer to question #1: I’m at about *glances at watch* four and a half months of studying Japanese, and while I’ve been spending about 3-4 hours a day on this, I’m still really new. This means that I am inevitably doing something inefficiently and so you should take everything I say with a grain of salt. I haven’t been doing this very long and other people are much better resources!
That being said, my tendency to overexplain, my general pedantry (own it if you are it, whatever), and my deeply weird overanalytical brain means that maybe something I’ve done in breaking down my experience thus far will be helpful to you.
All five numbered lists below the cut.
Further disclaimers: I know how I learn and what I’m good at, and this means that I am really really good at telling when a course of study is Not Working For Me. This is because I am Relatively Tumblr Old and have learned a variety of relatively complicated things with a high degree of success in my lifetime.
It is very unlikely that your brain works like mine, and so to further qualify this, I’m going to tell you how my brain works.
1. For me, the death of learning is boredom. I cannot, repeat, cannot, do boring things for much longer than about five minutes. You could offer me a half-million dollars a year to do a job that has twenty hours of boring work a week and I would quit in desperation after two weeks. Or, more likely, I’d take the job and stay up nights for months on end automating it and then you’d fire me when you realized that I was now doing nothing at work except reading AO3 articles. This means that time-efficient but boring study methods are completely inaccessible to me. I don’t care how effective it is. If it bores me, it is not getting done.
2. I have an incredibly good recall for sounds, and a basic amount of musical training. One of the ways I used to commit things like relative electronegativity to memory was to make a song, because I could remember the most ridiculously long strings of information that way. Ditto for memorizing monologues in school. (This is relevant).
3. I have an absolutely excellent memory for other things, too, when I’m paying attention. If I’m not paying attention, I will remember nothing. (Yes, I’m on the ADHD spectrum–I hyperfocus like nobody’s business, and if I’m not hyperfocused you might as well fuck off because I’m not paying a lick of attention.) I am much more likely to trigger my hyperfocus with physical activity–either walking or writing things down.
4. I am very goal focused. Give me just about any concrete goal and I will make a spreadsheet detailing how to get from point A to point B with every intermediate step in the way, which I will adjust on a biweekly basis to correspond to my progress and what I learn. My goal in this case was to be able to understand spoken Japanese well enough to get the gist of the raw Yuri on Ice feeds so that I didn’t have to wait 3+ hours for the Crunchyroll translations by the time Season 2 came around.
5. I am the person who will spend 40 hours fixing a persistent problem that takes me one minute of boring work every month. I am so damned impatient that I’ll spend three hours a day every day for two years so that I don’t have to wait three hours. Let’s hear it for the few, the proud, the delightedly inefficient.
6. Along the lines of hating boredom: I absolutely love figuring out how things work, and so I tend to jump onto solutions that prioritize understanding how a system works first and then moving from there to increasing fluency. I will happily spend 10 hours figuring out how something works even if it only saves me an hour of time. You’ll see what I mean a little later.
7. Also along the lines of having ADHD: I need to feel that I am accomplishing things along the way, which means that if I’m taking on a two-year project, I need to be able to point to things that I am accomplishing along the way, or I will get frustrated and give up. In this regard, I am like a small child. If I can’t pinpoint an immediate benefit to something, I get frustrated and give up. From experience, I have gotten very good at pinpointing accomplishments so that I am constantly affixing little medals to my own chest, but it also means that I “waste” (in some senses of the word) time doing things that probably are more about keeping my mental state chugging along.
8. This bears mentioning, but one thing about my being old and being good at fixing persistent problems? I have disposable income, and only about half of it goes toward purchasing Victor nendoroids. Some of the resources I list here cost money. I am naturally cheap–I don’t like spending money if I don’t have to–but I have learned to be cheap with my time, and to value people who provide useful or lovely things.
9. I am deeply introspective. If something is worth analyzing in my mind, it’s worth overanalyzing to death.
Okay, enough about me! Here are my thoughts on what I have done so far to learn Japanese, which I’m going to divide into sections.
Listening to Japanese (with some speaking)
I’m not going to have the temerity to explain spoken Japanese at this point, so google elsewhere. Here are useful resources:
1. JapanesePod101.com: https://www.japanesepod101.com I started a one-week free subscription to this site at the beginning of the year when I knew basically nothing, and then they had a huge membership sale at the beginning of the new year which I glommed onto immediately. I listen to about 4-6 podcasts a day–when I’m driving, when I’m out for a walk, when I’m shopping. I shadow the Japanese parts (this is what shadowing is: http://learnanylanguage.wikia.com/wiki/Shadowing). I listen. There are criticisms you could make of this podcast, but it’s rarely boring, the people on it are likable, and the lessons once Naomi-sensei gets on board are fantastic.
2. Crunchyroll. This is one of those “need accomplishment” things that I use regularly. Some people advocate putting anime on as background and letting your brain cogitate; my brain is EXTREMELY good at not paying attention to things and so I don’t think this would be effective for me. I watch anime. I’ve gone from maybe sometimes hearing a name, to understanding set phrases like Victor saying “Ohayou!” or Yuuri saying “Tadaima” to (at this point) being able to understand the simple sentences, and pick words out of the complex ones. I pause a lot, for instance, when I understand all the words in a sentence but one. I try to sound the word I think I heard out in a Japanese-to-English dictionary (tangorin.com is free, I think?), and if that doesn’t work, in google translate (sometimes it’s two words, and that makes it hard to look up).
3. I try to watch ice skating videos in Japanese. There are some that have subtitles in Japanese and English, too, which is cool.
Independent skills that I have had to actively force myself to learn in order to listen to Japanese properly (still working through this list):
1. Timing things. English (or any of the other languages I’ve studied) isn’t overly concerned with syllable length or breaks between syllables. That makes it hard to distinguish between a two-mora vowel and a one-mora vowel, or to make your mind pay attention to the small-tsu break. You have to really work to pay attention to train your mind that this is important and it needs to stop filtering those things out. It took me probably two months to retrain my mental filters, which I mostly did by banging my head against trying to figure out what words I heard, trying different combinations, and then going back to the word I heard and relistening to it once i figured out what it was, until I was hearing the thing I wasn’t hearing.
2. Vowels. In English, we can mess around with vowels a LOT and it works just fine as long as the consonants are vaguely in the right place. That’s why people can write sentences with misplaced/swapped out vowels and your mind will basically make sense of it anyway–because we use consonants a lot to tag words. This means that a brain fed a diet of mostly English squishes a lot of vowels together into one mushy sounding sound. It’s why some people hear “Hai” as “Hi” and not as a two-mora, two vowel sound. There’s a point at the end of episode 4 where Yuuri says something like “Victor and my season is finally beginning,” and I understood all the words except 'finally,’ so I tried to sound out the word I heard that was probably 'finally’ as an exercise. I tried EVERY FREAKING COMBINATION of “よよ” and “ようよ” and “ようよう” and finally realized that I just wasn’t hearing the two-vowel combination properly: “いよいよ.” Again, the way I dealt with this except to repeatedly force myself to do exercises like this again and again while listening, sounding out what I heard and then listening to it again and again when I was wrong until I could hear the thing I missed.
3. Pitch accent. In English, pitch plays a role in intonation, and there are accepted pitches, but there’s a lot more pitch variation, and we mostly use stress to indicate meaning. In Japanese, pitch is far more important, with relative pitch between words being important, and increasing differences in pitch indicating increasing importance. It took me about a month into trying to learn Japanese to hear the words “pitch accent” and then another month to start really paying attention to words to try and determine the pitch accent, and then only very recently, discovering resources that break down what pitch accent is and what the rules are to it (OMG I didn’t know there were rules, I love rules!) in a way that made me say, yes, this is amazing. You want to visit Dogen’s site for this: https://www.patreon.com/dogen/posts – I found his videos accidentally, but they’re amazing. The first handful are free; the next handful, you need to pledge to his Patreon. Some of the things he says are difficult for English speakers to learn are not difficult for me–I suspect because I have basic musical training, and it turns out that those lessons where I learned to identify intervals taught me to hear pitch changes.
4. Language parsing. The thing I’m working on now is a straight-up language parsing issue. English functions much like a stack: Words go on the stack in the right order, and your brain assigns function and meaning on the basis of where in the stack they land, and improper stacking leads to breakdown. Stack issues in English are why it’s completely fine to say “friendly little brown fluffy Japanese dog” but “Japanese friendly fluffy brown little dog” is just wrong. English is, to use a metaphor that will be almost completely inaccessible to the current generation, rather like the BASIC I used on the Commodore 64–executed in mostly linear fashion with a handful of awkward and inelegant GOTOs that I only learned to cringe at when I took a computer science course many years later. Japanese also has a little bit of a stack issue, but a stack-parsing order is inappropriate. In a sense, it feels closer to a language in which particles function as meta-tags. It feels…more appropriate, I guess? to parse from particle to particle and from conjugation to conjugation. Japanese is closer to Java in many, many ways. I figured out that I needed to parse differently about a month ago, and have been slowly working on upgrading my internal interpreter.
5. Next stages: A lot of Japanese is indirect, and so absorbing indirect equivalents (or where there is none, getting the gist) is probably going to be a lifelong process.
Speaking
1. Some people like talking to other people. I hate it with a burning passion. I prefer people who use pixels. I did try a Japanese Skype conversation partner through italki.com. It was very, very useful. I learned a lot. I hated it so much that I have myself permission to not do it for another few months. (I do use italki to practice the other language I know–where I’m fluent enough that I can have an actual conversation about, like, the constitutionality of Trump’s executive order on immigration, for instance, instead of the name of someone’s rabbit. I don’t particularly hate that.)
2. I talk to myself, out loud, a lot in Japanese, even if I only say very stupid things. I try to express things I don’t know how to say.
3. I give my cat orders in Japanese. He listens to me in Japanese as often as he does in English, so this is a huge success.
4. I am not great at speaking, partially because my goal is not to be able to speak to people.
Reading and Writing
1. You’re gonna have to memorize the Kana. Just do it. I did it, and I hate boring things.
2. I spent some time looking at various speed-Kanji-learning methods, like Remembering the Kana, WaniKani, and Kanji Damage. The most useful thing I got was this description of Kanji from KanjiDamage http://www.kanjidamage.com/introduction and the description of Kanji as an orthography: http://www.kanjidamage.com/kanji_facts. This made me think of Kanji as words composed of radicals laid out on a two-dimensional canvas, as compared to English, where words are are composed of the letters of the alphabet on a one-dimensional canvas. Once I saw that, then you see that some connections and combinations are meaningful in the same way that evocative, advocacy, and vocal are related. Some connections are totally illusory and trying to find meaning or explanation for it is a fool’s game. Having understood that, I tried the basic method behind these and found that it did not work at all for me because it was boring as all get out, and I didn’t feel like I was learning anything (even though I was).
3. My current method is absolutely not the most efficient but I am making headway with it. It goes like this: find really easy reading materials, and learn the words that are in it. It took me about a month before I could read even the most basic of texts. (I started with the graded Japanese readers, level 0). Is this method of learning words scattershot as fuck? YES. ABSOLUTELY. But I feel like I’m accomplishing things because I am reading books, and I am willing to accept substantial amounts of inefficiency if it results in continued motivation.
4. At some point–my guess is somewhere around the one year mark–I’m going to have to transition to something a little more systematic. My hope is that once I reach that point I will have encountered those kanji enough that I will feel like I’m forming connections, not just learning disparate disconnected material, and I will not be bored.
5. Along those lines, Anki is my everything. I do about 20 cards a day, which means I’m learning around 70 words a week. Some of these words are great, like 難しい or 簡単. Some of those words are skating related, like 4回転トエループ. Some of those words are just really random things that showed up in the graded reader and I learned it because I’m stubborn, like 苦汁 (“bittern,” or a concentrated solution of magnesium chloride) or 納豆菌 (bacillus subtilis natto, the bacteria used to ferment soybeans into natto).
6. My Anki vocabulary cards have the English word on the front. On the back, I have the word in either hiragana or katakana, color-coded according to pitch accent, a recording of the word in Japanese, the kanji for the word, and sometimes the stroke order for the kanji. Yes, I write down the kanji–my memory is triggered by using muscles, including a pencil, and so this works for me.
7. This is what one of my Anki cards looks like, minus the spoken recording + stroke order. Blue is low pitch, red is high pitch, and the color of the heart at the end indicates the pitch of the particle at the end. It would be way more efficient to import other people’s Anki decks but I am (in addition to all the stuff mentioned above) deeply demand resistant and I only want to learn things that I have decided I should learn, with the precise information I want, no more, no less. I end up resenting other people’s flashcards so much that I’m stuck wasting time doing my own.
Tumblr media
8. I’m also using a textbook (みんなの日本語). My textbook work lags substantially behind my comprehension, as driven by JapanesePod101, mostly because it’s boring until I understand it well enough to not have to stop and check every damned thing all the time. It is good to do exercises, though, and then to use the exercises as templates for saying and writing my own sentences which are of far greater interest.
Um, I think that’s everything I have for now?
Welcome to my brain.

Bitcoin Price Action, Libra Is Finished, Explosive Demand, Banks Go Down & Ethereum Database
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Hello, everybody, welcome back for another video. Hope you all doing well and that you’re all having an incredible day to start things off. Bitcoins upcoming mining rewards having has long been looked upon as a fundamental event that would help bolster its underlying strength and catalyze some immense upwards price action, the sentiment has been largely rooted in historical precedent as the benchmark cryptocurrency has long seen immense bull favoring volatility and the time directly preceding and following this event. It doesn’t seem as though the same can be said for the having that is occurring in just a few weeks from now. However, as this is the first time in Bitcoin’s decade long history that it is entering, its having with a negative 90 day re turn at the time of writing, Bitcoin’s mining rewards is slated to occur in about twenty five days. It depends on where you look. It depends on how much actual computing power that we have going towards the bitcoin network. A lot of people have been turning their computers off to people have been turning the computers on. There was news yesterday that I did not have in a video because it seemed completely pointless that we had re reached the mining capacity strength that we had seen before that we had dipped down from that had made major news because people had turned their computers off and they subsequently had turned them back on. So we were just back where we were about a good three, four weeks ago. So. Why have it in a video and is expected to take place on the 12th of March? It is not accurate, but we will see as we get closer. The event cuts the rewards that traders receive from producing blocks and have subsequently decreasing the cryptocurrencies annual inflation from 3.6 5 percent to 1.8 percent. After this ends up taking place, the having as an integral part of bitcoin being a deflationary currency and shines a spotlight on the importance of its existence during a backdrop of endless money printing and inflation. What we’re having right now, for those of you who do not see the title of said article, it says Bitcoin showing unprecedented pre having price action. We are currently in a situation where the cryptocurrency market is up. No one knows how far it is going to go up. But however, at the moment, I think bitcoin. Right. What does that keep happening, every video Bitcoin went up by around, I think 6 to 7 percent. I think he theorem was the. The winner, winner, chicken dinner. I think anywhere from 11 to 14 percent, depending on which place you saw the actual number. And at what time. The cryptocurrency market is seemingly doing very well. And when you look around once again, always, that’s how it always happens. It’s never clear cut and dry. There’s never an exact reason as to why prices are going up. As always, multiple things. A lot of people think. They assume that because we are getting closer to the having, therefore more people are jumping into the cryptocurrency space, they’re seemingly more interest. We’re getting a lot more. Google’s search results or people searching on Google for the term Bitcoin having we read about that about three, four days ago. I think it South Africa, Venezuela, Singapore, Switzerland, that place and the other places, I think is the 10 places in general that have like super high search results, just about the bitcoin having normally search results end up circling around Bitcoin’s price or bitcoin price predictions or bitcoin price today. However, that has shifted to the. SITUATION around the mining getting cut in half the money, we’re we’re getting cut of half. The other thing which people think. Is that it has to do with the governments around the world printing tons of money. I’m going to tell you honestly, I don’t think that that is a major cause of the cryptocurrency market going up. And I’ll tell you why. In the beginning, in the long, long ago, the entire idea or the. The word is in power, what? What cryptocurrencies were before has completely changed the idea of Bitcoin being a decentralized, super mega world powered for everyone and everything, cryptocurrency still remains. But it’s kind of on the fringe. It’s been pushed to the very ends of it in a lot of people. Many people just simply see Bitcoin as an investment vehicle way to make money. And this is why I believe whenever we see the traditional stock market go up or down, this is why the cryptocurrency market follows it, that a large part of the sentiment of the people who are within the space right now don’t care about decentralization. They don’t care about helping poor people. They don’t care about other people around the world. That has to do with how much money I can make from bitcoin. So whenever bitcoin or the stock market goes down, then therefore the cryptocurrency must air quotes go down because it’s also just another investment vehicle. It’s not something people have very limited form of foresight. A lot of people, many people don’t foresee a future. People people barely know what they’re going to do in their life the next three, four or five weeks. Nonetheless, what a cryptocurrency that can be used by billions of people on the planet. Permission Lassally where that’s gonna be in around 10 years. So a lot of the the current price action, I just it doesn’t really if if if I can say this, it doesn’t really bother me whether it goes up or down because I know that the future of the cryptocurrency space is going to be reliant on the old teachings. If you could kind of say that sounds kinda weird of what bitcoin in the cryptocurrency space used to be and still kind of are like the deflationary nature, the fact that you can send it anywhere, you know, the entire spiel. I don’t have to say the entire thing over again, but I think that will come into play as time ends up going on. And this is why I think a lot of people understand what they’re having is significant for, but a lot of other people just see it as another way to kind of. Who’s their portfolio up and make money? So the point to be made is currently the cryptocurrency market is up. However, at the exact same time and this is why I said I don’t think it’s the the printing of the stimulus money, if you will. As one says right here, April 17th, the European Stock Index futures surged more than 3 percent on Friday. As Donald Trump rolled out plans for a gradual reopening of the economy and on reports of a potential something, something for number 19. The situation that we have right now is that many world governments, a couple of them, a handful, an actual handful, are discussing the ideas of re opening the economy. This has been eye. This isn’t a political channel. So we’re just gonna kind of leave it at that. However, the point to be made is it appears that there is a lot of happy sentiment on the back of the idea that this might not last for another six to 18 months and therefore we could slowly see signs of a recovery and or things slowly opening back up. I think there was also news yesterday that Apple is also planning on starting to reopen their stores. I think the first one will be somewhere in Asia and they’ll kind of go in a store to store basis. So. Once again, the correlation between Bitcoin and the stock market is completely nonsensical, and I think that’s simply because people don’t understand still what Bitcoin is, and I know I said it rather ominously before I remember I was relistening to one of my videos and I was like, if they don’t know now, they will. And I adamy to have that kind of tone. But it’s the truth. A lot of people who don’t understand what this is for are really gonna be hit hard when they understand exactly what the point of bitcoin is. Yeah. The point to be made is prices are up. Who knows how long they will stay up? The pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. The stock markets in the Americas have yet to open. And I think that will be a good indicator if the stock markets are going to go up and if the cryptocurrency market will also go up. I really do. I don’t think and this is this is me. I feel like if people really understood what the significance of Bitcoin’s inflation rate going from 3.6 to one point eight percent like what the actual significance of that was, I think we’d have a a bitcoin price over at least ten thousand right now. For those of you who don’t know the the the dramatic significance is that normally we are told that the actual issuance rate or printing of money from governments around the world, they aim for a 2 percent inflation rate every year. However, this number is usually around 3 to 5 percent as governments sometimes over create. However, the fact that Bitcoin will officially be below those numbers, even if the official numbers from governments was 2 percent every single year, if the U.S. government was printing 2 percent more of their money than they had last year and bitcoin will mathematically we know this for fact because it’s on the blockchain will be 1.8 percent. That alone. I mean, the the idea that as time goes on, the less bitcoin that’s created by the network, the more valuable it will become as it’s deflationary and the inflationary currencies lose their value if you never look at a chart for the U.S. dollar over the last thing. No, I would say 90 years. I can remember the exact number for the chart. You see the U.S. dollar just being decimated in value. And on the flip side, we now have a deflationary currency which logically would become more worth more as time ends up going on anyway. I think people just don’t get it. I have friends and other non friends, friends of friends who ask me still, why bitcoin? Why? Why not something else? Like I invest in so-and-so, I and. I’m like, that’s not. You don’t get it. And I don’t have time to explain it to you. Just go read a book or something. Anyway, you know, the prices are up. So are the futures for the European stock market. And we’ll see exactly how this ends up continuing as the day unfolds before us. In your news, that’s everywhere news and I mean every single corner of the Internet. After a rocky road. Not the ice cream. With the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, key decision makers and Libra have gone back to the drawing board to retool their cryptocurrency platform to be more palatable to regulators. First of all, Libra has applied for a payment system license from the Swiss regulator for financial markets and the supervisory authority. This is a huge milestone on the way to some publicly usable Libra payment system. But there is still work to be done. Lieber’s licensing process will continue to require input from other central banks and financial regulatory authorities around the world. But the traction is positive for now. Libra is on its way to being able to make or to offer monetary and banking services, and I’ll get into exactly how all of that is just hubbub. There are also a number of underlying technical challenges taking place or changes. First is multi-currency stable coin L B R or just Libra. Be back by new stable coins instead of fiat currencies living in a bank account somewhere. Leber co-director David Marcus tweeted that the most notable evolutions in the creation of single currency stable coins like USD EU are and great British pound. In addition to the Libra coin, the updated design is made possible by a smart contract that ties together the fixed normal weights of underlying stable coins and also happens to limits Lieber’s flexibility. Some adding or removing since adding or removing a currency from the basket would require issuing or retiring another currency. Here is the major part to keep in mind. It says The major update is to the Libra White Paper, which has been retooled in light of the previously described the technical changes. The first version described Libra as a permission and network controlled by the Libra Association, and the plan was for it to go permissionless in the next five years working backwards. I know, you know. The fish in the sea knew and Facebook knew there was never going to be a point where Libra was going to be permissionless. Never. Not in this dimension. Not a next dimension. Not in any there’s there’s no timeline where Libra was going to be as permissionless as Bitcoin. Let’s just kind of get that out there. They said the original idea for Libra was and this is why a lot of people and why the cryptocurrency market reacted positively last June, I believe it was when they first mentioned this. The idea was that they would have a currency, a digital currency that would be released. This new currency will then go out into the wild. People around the world would use it. They would have a Libra wallet. And within this Leber wallet, they would add other cryptocurrencies and or digital assets. And therefore, people will be able to trade them at will back and forth. Remember the news even even more so. I mean, it all ties in as I’m as I’m going forward. The news that we have been talking about, how regulators. Want to regulate. And they want to know where this is going, why this is happening. The long and short of it is if they did not create it. It can not be. Or if it is to be, you better tell them exactly what’s happening at every single turn. And I think there was a bit of. The word is even backlash. It was it was it was angry lash, because the people from Leber pretty much said no, like we’re going to control this ourselves. And they said, we’re gonna do this. Oh, they also registered directly even last year. They erect the directly registered in Switzerland and not within the United States, which is also a big no no, because you got to tell daddy exactly what you’re doing. So what has happened over the last four hours? Like I said, it’s been everywhere. The original idea for Libra was to be just Libra. Backed by multiple paper currencies that changed in two Libra being backed by some fiat currencies, paper currencies and other assets, we don’t know if it was gonna be gold, if it was gonna be luxury real estate. No one knows exactly what that would have been pegged to. And then it evolved in to around August, September, they announced we’re not opposed to also launching stable coins. So it was going to be Libra alongside other stable coins. Now, that’s morphed into an I I assume this is what it is. The fact that they’re able to even continue with his roll out of it. Remember the discussion that we were having before that they are going there are going to be. Government issue stable coins that I mean, central bank digital currencies, I mean actual stable coins that are going to be used within the cryptocurrency space. I think cryptocurrency exchanges will eventually be forced mandated to use these. That is also an assumption. Who knows? But you kind of see where I’m going with all of this. And these, I believe, are what is going to be used through Libra, especially at night. Yeah, I think it’s actually correct if if you read around about it. I think it’s going to be. It’s meant to be stable coins in a backed by U.S. dollars that I think are under the purview of the CFTC and or the S.E.C. or some other letter. organization that is going to kind of have an overview of everything that LIBOR is actually doing. So now you have the entire original idea of labor has completely fallen apart. The news that we also had was that around October, this would all kind of get going. Now it appears, I think whereas it was somewhere which article was an engine design, a compliant transaction is a very near term dauntingly. I don’t know where it was. I read it in one of these four articles. I think apparently the the initial launch of Libra will not be for everyday people. I believe it’s going to be just for businesses, institutions and cryptocurrency exchanges in the beginning, because this is it. You’d better believe if they have so many problems with Facebook, even thinking of launching their own currency when they release the stable coins that are going to be backed by other official currencies U.S. dollar, the euro, British pound to the Singaporean dollar, you are probably going to have to be required to actually do it. A massive amount of KYC that’s know your customer stuff on Facebook to be able to use the platform. This was expected to roll out across Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. And there’s another their fourth one, Instagram. These were the expectations. So just be aware. And about a good year from now, you’re going to see something pop up and it’s going to say, hey, upload an I.D.. No, upload an I.D.. No, no, no. Upload your. You’re going to be forced to actually do all of these things to actually try and use these these platforms. So as it stands right now. Libra, apparently. I don’t want to say is no more, but the original idea from it has completely fallen apart. Is this good for the cryptocurrency space? Maybe a lot of people believe that the actual usage of Libra or the launch of Libra was actually somewhat. Dare I say bullish or bitcoin, because we would get to see in real time how much LIBOR was issued on the basis or the connecting lines to fiat currency, we’d be able to see the inflation rate of Libra and the deflation rate of Bitcoin. And also it was expected because the people from Libra and Facebook had said they originally wanted to use Bitcoin as the actual currency on the platform, but they said it was simply too slow for what they were trying to do and therefore they created Libra. So the assumption was that all of this is that at some point they would add Bitcoin as a payment option on their platform. But once again, if governments have a problem with people using telegram tokens or kinne tokens, they probably would not have cared or it would have. They would not have liked if people were able to use bitcoin on another platform anyway. So, yeah, it looks like Libra is. Yep. It’s still going to launch looking very different. It’s going to it’s I can remember where exactly it said it it’s it’s going to just hit. Like institutions and banks first who are going to want to use it. Yeah, I mean. It’s not like it was going to. It’s not like it was going to take down a bitcoin, which is great for reference. Because remember, in 2019 when all those articles started popping up, you can find them type in like Facebook. Bitcoin, no, like Facebook. Libra, Bitcoin, 2019. As some articles start to pop up from like Forbes and Bloomberg, where they were predicting that Libra would be the downfall of Bitcoin and Libra was gonna be so big, that big. And I’m like, you don’t underst. This is a problem. People don’t understand what bitcoin is for them. It’s just a way to make money. It’s just a number on a screen that goes up and down. It means nothing to them. Besides that, like the reason why Bitcoin has survived this long is because it is permissionless. While me and you may buy, sell or hold trade, whatever we do on a daily basis. There are people around the world who billions of people around the world who do not have access to financial institutions, to banks, to anything. They’re actually buying up bitcoin in a bid to actually be able to transact and use might like it is. It is the new form of money. And this is why it’s very important. People keep overlooking the fact that last year Bitcoin did four times as much transactions as PayPal. Think about how they think about how popular PayPal is. Think about how many of you have used PayPal. I used to when I sold on eBay, I was using PayPal multiple times a day. Think of how popular and strong and well-known PayPal is. It’s on every single nearly every single payment Web site. Scroll to bottom. You see the two letters, bam, I can use PayPal. Now, imagine that Bitcoin been around for 10 years at this point. Did four times as much in transactions as that. One thing people continuously overlook. These these facts. And this is why I always say. The fundamentals were Bitcoin haven’t changed. Oh, yeah, whatever. Yeah. So that is the Leber news, that this news was everywhere and I assume it will continue over the next couple of days, I assume around around from Prempro, August. July. We’ll get like sprinkles of more news as to exactly how this is going to launch. But as it stands right now, Libra is. There’s no word that I can use for like done that rhymes with Leber, I was gonna say lowest like Libra is toast, but that’s not a word. Lieberals Lieberals lo look. Okay, let’s move on. I can’t find a word. This yeah, yeah, this is it as well. Four months after Circle pivoted to stable coins, the startup’s new business model has received an unexpected boost from the global nineteen. This was said by the CEO Jeremy a layer. U.S. dollar backed blockchain tokens are surging in popularity around the world, and this time much of the demand is for payments. In normal business transactions, not just to move money quickly between cryptocurrency exchanges. Oh, you know what I just remembered? Remember last year we were reading that article that apparently between China and Russia. I think it’s the I don’t know if it was Teather or the Sir Adam. I’m. I think it was Teather. That apparently people are using these currencies to trend this digital currency, to transact between each other like that, like the border of China and Russia. There’s like a market somewhere. And because they don’t want to have to swap back to currencies back and forth to actually do the what’s it called. That goes like a changing service. And they hand in the money that you get a terrible fee and and you go back across the border, you spend money this way. I think they’re just using stable coins, which is completely insane because this is kind of, you know, the point of them. But also, you get into that territory where governments are like, hey, you’re not you’re not you’re not using my money. That’s that’s the money I printed for you. And it creates this really weird like. This is this is the point of cryptocurrencies over the past several weeks, we have seen an explosive interest and growth in U.S. D.C., he said, referring to the stable coin circle issue is in partnership with Coinbase. This is clearly very significant global. There is clearly a very significant global demand for digital dollars and the use of digital dollars as a new payment to medium. New signups have come from e-commerce marketplaces, advertising networks, luxury good producers, recruiting platforms, digital content makers, peer to peer lending platforms, payment companies, software firms, professional services, reward businesses, mobile banking providers and other internet companies. We are getting feedback from Asian market participants that there is more and more demand for USD C from SMB seeking both the safety and utility of digital dollars, he said, using a term for small and medium sized enterprises without really having read much further. Here’s the actual growth chart right here. This is insane. And even if you go from this is March, this has to be around January, the beginning of this year. Do you see this spike? It’s this is also. Remember this where we just spoke about yesterday. It says G20 Group C stable coins as threat to financial stability is because they’re probably getting all these numbers, they see these charts. Do you understand the significance of someone creating a version of the of the a digital version of the dollar that was not created by the Fed? And to have it explode in popularity like this, like this is also the it’s a metric based off of the supply, but the supply is based off of how much money they have actually coming from investors who are putting it into this thing because the demand is also there, like as the demand rises for this coin. This is how much money gets put into the market. How many coins are distributed. This is why we see billions of dollars worth of Teather. So sayeth the Internet. Yeah. It’s a it’s a very fascinating time. This is from their charter from 2018 to now. That’s that’s roughly around seven hundred and twenty five million dollars just issued in the circle coin. Now imagine the Gemini dollar tether. I think Bynum’s also has a stable coin. I think who only has one as well. So imagine all this money flowing through these systems. And the government and the Fed aren’t part of it. This is why stable coins are now a threat, because they it’s so fascinating to see all of this unravel like right before our eyes, you understand the significance that you as a company are able to create your own, not only your own currency. I think that’s also something that people keep forgetting. And I and I it it waters down the significance of the cryptocurrency space when we have ten thousand currencies, because the idea of someone actually creating a cryptocurrency and or a currency that has actual use or a use case is major. We’ve never, ever in the history of ever been able to do this before. Anytime that any other company had tried to do this in the 90s, this is also if you look back. A lot of companies since the Internet, I won’t say, became more popular around ninety five to ninety eight to nineteen ninety nine, you can read about this online is all everywhere like Athena called Cypherpunks C Y P H E R Punks. They tried multiple times to create a digital version of the US dollar or just digital money that people could use back and forth. And the reason why bitcoin is so significant is because I gosh, what is it? It it passed the the business tene tolerance of the Byzantine fault. I came in what is called it other ways were always centralized ways of creating money and bitcoin blockchain that bitcoin bitcoin was on created a way that it was actually permissionless, that you just had to run a node and all the nodes would trust each other because they were all sharing the exact same information. That was something. I know it seems normal now, but years ago this was not anything that actually made sense of that could actually work. And this is why bitcoin is like is bitcoin because it was the first to be able to do so. You were unable all these other projects that had tried to launch their own digital version of anything or any dollar or any on money were completely shut down. If you read and the actual beginning of what pay power was meant to be, PayPal was meant to be something similar to Bitcoin, not the same as bitcoin obviously, but it was meant to be a digital dollar that you could kind of use online at your own behest to whatever you wanted to do. You could use it. I think it was around for about a good year, and that’s when governments were like, hey, what are you guys cooking over there? It smells good. And we don’t see we don’t see anything in our in our wallets. So this is kind of how PayPal got morphed. You can hear. I dunno if it’s the current head or the previous head of PayPal. He said as many times he’s a he. He loved the idea of bitcoin because it was reminiscent of what he was trying to do. Anyway, the entire point of this conversation is. Stable coins are. I want to say no. I was going to say they’re here to stay, but I we we we all know behind the scenes they are being dismantled in in rapid succession. I mean, when you you get stuff from from from from the G20 saying that stable coins are a threat to financial stability. That’s a that’s a that’s an issue. That means that your. The financial system, as it is right now, is just garbage and I mean complete and utter trash in every single possible way. If you have people look at this. This is two years, it takes two years for something to be to become financially unstable, like I feel like the creation of a digital version of the world’s most popular currency probably shouldn’t be. I don’t say there’s not a threat, but it’s very interesting to see. I’m I’m. Or a decentralized world. I hope for a world where I don’t know. I have I have a lot of hopes. I just kind of leave it at that because I could. That could go on. That could be a 15 minute segment in and of itself. But yet we’re seeing this happen all around the world. I wish I could find that article. It was definitely between China and Russia, where little markets there, they walk across the border and they are paying in stable coins because it’s an easier way for them to be able to transact. Anyway, I. I find news like this quite fascinating. Let’s move on. Next up, some U.S. banks have been unable to handle the increased demand generated by the stimulus checks being distributed to 80 million Americans. On the 15th of April, the online platforms for a U.S. bank, PNC and the fifth third banks went down, apparently unable to handle the inflow of stimulus. The inflow, not even the outflow, unable to handle the inflow of stimulus funds. On the 16th of April, some users of the online only Ali bank reported outages, with U.S. bank customers reporting outages or ongoing problems as well. Banks have shown they are unable to scale with the increasing demand. Shocking. Ironically, the lack of scalability is a typical criticism of Bitcoin and other blockchain networks that have been happily chugging along. In the meantime, without any hiccups. Àlex Smush Mushin, ski CEO and founder of Celsius Network, who is known for his critical stance for the banking industry, told KOIN Telegraph the issue highlighted problems with the legacy infrastructure. He said We live in this technological age and everybody can scale, but it’s not what’s happening, but it’s not worth it. Yes, that was happening, but the government is still printing physical checks and sending it to people in the mail, which still blows my mind. Once again, to understand if you are not in the states. Other places around the world don’t use cheques even crazier. There are parts of the world where there are people who are without homes on the street and they actually have like QR codes hanging from their necks. And you kind of walk up to them and you scan them. Checks are no longer a thing in many other parts of the world, so the idea of having to print out a check and then mail it to someone and then they have to take that to a bank and or to a a check cashing place is very 1960s, very 1970s. The other point being, that’s the inflow of funds that has nothing to do with the people even trying to take their money out. The antiquated system is going to remain antiquated. There is nothing in my mind that tells me within the next two years that the debt, the current banking system is going to try to reinvent or to remake itself. There’s there’s too much there are too many old cables, literal old cables lying around for any of that to kind of. Be revamped or replaced in the in the in the ever. But yeah, here’s the actual article that it is referencing. It says U.S. Bank, PNC Fifth Third Bank down as money checks money. Millions check accounts. More stimulus checks are real. The part is that with more than 80 million Americans expected to receive their checks via direct deposit today, online platforms for banks, including the likes of those three, went down as they were flooded with demand. Customers have issued reports with other banks as well, including Bank of America, TDE Bank and and T Terrible. But once again, logic doesn’t really reside in the minds of many. Can you imagine how crazy this would have been? I mean, stay with me for a second. Once again, this would never happen. But if this check had been released, handed out, distributed. And they will like everyone. You can choose five different ways you can get your check directly in Bitcoin. You can get your check directly in lumens and SRP and ether or like coin you choose and you go on the website because it’s the year 2020 and we should have websites like this. You type in your name, you type in information, you type in your social, and then you type of what coin you want and the address and we’ll get it to you. See, the crazy part is that that’s all possible, like that’s actually all possible directly right now, like what I said to you is a complete fantasy because we know the dojo. TIBBETT But the other point of it being what I said is into other worldly or undoable like we can we can do that today, especially with smart contracts. You can set up smart contracts that have a certain amount of money inside of them and it checks all of the actual addresses and start shooting out money in different directions. That’s how blockchain works. Unless you are in this situation again and this also doesn’t even count in the other what you might call it. What was I going to say? The other what was it like, 50 or 60 million people who won’t get their checks for another five months? Good times, good times, good times, good times, good times. Yeah. Let’s move on. And to finish things off, Brazil is modernizing its bureaucratic system by harnessing the power of can you guess which blockchain and you guess which blockchain ethereal. Banco Centrale. I see. The country’s central bank recently launched a blockchain based data sharing tool that’s been in development is 2017. Of course it has. BCB has invested over a quarter of a million on the project. The platform for information integration of regulatory entities peer as that all those letters smash together is runs on the core from Blockchain, which is an ethereal based platform developed by banking giant JP Morgan for big enterprises once again, of course, because JP Morgan also just said that they’re going to be using the theory on blockchain, be in America’s reports that the blockchain solution also uses Microsoft’s Azor Azour as a assure cloud. Can I never know how to say that. And please, please don’t try and tell me, because you typing it in the comments section won’t allow me to understand how it’s most pronounced that I’ve seen. I’ve even seen people on TV mispronounce that many times as it can. Cloud computing service before peer financial regulators in Brazil relied on snail mail and letters to send inquiries and access data from other agencies. The process of getting a response could take weeks. What I don’t understand. It’s the year 2020. Even, you know, many movies in the 70s predicted by now that we would have floating cars and robots. And even if you go back to like around twenty, fifteen to twenty, twenty, sixteen, why is everyone still using actual mail? You know, there’s still countries when you want to get something done. I’ll never forget. I forgot what women. I don’t know about. I remember I was trying to turn off a phone service, where was I trying to turn off a phone? Mobile service. I had to go to the store to tell them that I wanted to turn my phone off. They handed me a piece of paper that I had to fill. This was in France that I had to fill out. And I think sign it and then mail it to the actual phone company that they had to then approve it in the mail it back to me. And I had to give that to the phone company. This was years ago, but it was still like. Why? Why, why? Why, why? No, no. You you you turn off my phone service. Why? Why should anything. Nothing should take weeks. I’ll never I’ll never listen to this. The fact that it takes even. A day, but nonetheless, still three to five to seven business days to be able to send money around the world is nonsense. I can copy and paste a book that has a thousand pages. Tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of words. I can post that into an email and send it to you and you would get it in about a good twenty eight seconds. It makes no sense. It’s just numbers on a screen. Why does all of this take so long? It should not take weeks. For financial regulators or anyone to try and communicate with each other, the new theory and base financial database digitizes all paper-based data to expedite rapid and secure inter agency communication. Tasks are dramatically streamlined, reducing processing from hours and days to seconds. The platform also keeps track of queries. The point being, this is yet another government. I hope you’re paying attention. Who is going to be using ethereal? This is now like the seventh, eighth one. We keep hearing about them over and over. I assume I don’t know what it is. I don’t know what it could be like. I honestly don’t know. Like, it’s it’s very. There’s a reason why. There’s a reason there is a reason why we don’t hear governments launching things, issuing why JP Morgan Chase is in launching or using anything on Tron or Cardno or iOS, but it’s constantly ethereal. I assumed someone had there. They must have all been very, very big cookie jar that all the enterprise has got their hands into. In 2016, 2017. Maybe this is why they’re backing a theory. It has something to do with has something to do with financial interests. That much is clear. But to this extent is really insane when people don’t understand the significance of Brazil putting their financial database on a theorem. The significance of the Russian president having conversations with Vitaly butyrate and inviting him all these like you can find them on the same panel, like sitting near each other, talking to each other. Same exact thing with JP Morgan Chase. And I’m pretty sure that tons of other banks, we may just never actively hear that they themselves are using ethe cerium is insane, but alas. Yeah. Just understand that if proof of stake works. If the issue wins, rate ends up being cut for a theorem. And once again, I guess to bring it on home, if if proof of stake launches in July, we’re going to see massive momentum. BOERI Theorem why a world government is using it unless it is I as a part of a bigger plan. That sounds too ominous. But you get what I’m saying. There’s a there’s that there’s a reason why they’re using a theory and not anything else anyway. Let’s move on. A very special thank you to my pictorial borders, Professor Wally from Gundan by University Yashar. Hi, Daddy. Hey, I’m trying to it is in one breath. Man Hi X. Thank you so much for your support. Thank you to everyone who out there who is a supporter of the channel. Click the little join button below at. Oh, and also thank you to everyone who has been using my Amazon affiliate links. I mean. Wow. Like my mind. Wow. Thank you all very, very much for all your support. It is appreciated across the board. You’re all amazing, wonderful people at the moment. Cryptocurrency market looks a little crazy. We’re up like right about the end of being up, but we’re not up. If that makes any sense, we’re above 7000. But over the last 24 hours, we’ve kind of been on this really weird rollercoaster thing. All coins have remotely generally follow the same exact trend, the same exact movements. It looked like I can’t explain it before I started. Everything was kind of green, but I wasn’t like a light red, almost a pink. If you kind of want to give it that color. Tasos is still up. Catano is up by 8 percent. We’ll see exactly how that ends up working out as the day ends up going on. But yeah, no one knows what’s going on anymore. The cryptocurrency market should not be following any other traditional market, at least not Bitcoin, because Bitcoin. Is everything against the traditional financial market like everything that it is? Bitcoin is not. And this is why Bitcoin is special. Not to say that other coins aren’t special or amazing or fantastic, but if we just single out the first coin and what it’s in original intent and purpose were and is it still there? Everything still intact. So if we end up seeing stock markets doing very well later, I guess expect the cryptocurrency market to also follow it as well. Who knows what’s going to happen? It’s a wild, weird and wacky place. No, I said that, but that’s how. That’s how the market’s working right now. I am. I haven’t been this excited for something in a very long time. It’s really, you know, was really funny. Me and one of my friends, I’m not half joking. We planned on throwing a having party or like a having celebration. We were gonna have like dinner and have a bunch of sweets and all this other stuff. I like desserts. What have you. But, you know, we can’t now because life is different. But yeah, I’m very excited for the having. I’m not expecting. I mean, who knows? I was gonna say I’m not expecting any movements, but the crypto market always tend to surprise me. What is the actual having event to take place? I think is going to be major, at least for me. In my mind, anyway, I’m rambling on. I do hope you all enjoyed. Hope you all are having a great day. A great morning. A great afternoon. A great evening. Wherever you are, wherever you might be. I do hope that is absolutely an. Tactic. Thank you all once again for watching and or listening. And I will most certainly be talking to you all soon. See you.

Bitcoin Price Action Libra Is Finished Explosive Demand Banks Go Down & Ethereum Database
Man Hi X. See you.

See you.

Man Hi X. Joshua Viniar, My Story of Josh Gorcyca Tongala, a little tongue, a little Nostromo, Most Typical John Starts Amrita Baby, a phobia barebones mining town of Embracing Mohammed only meets images in Thailand. See you.

Twilight Mirage liveblog 4/5 (episodes 55-63)
55-56
Ha, Austin rereads the passage I just came back to relisten
Yeah, this only proves the point that you can't put the wellbeing and infrastructure of an entire society on the shoulders of 300 people with superpowers, and the warmth of their personal relationship with the rest ot the people! Sorry, I can't make myself sad about this system that was ridiculous and inherently unsustainable from the start!
But how about… Not mean humans ~enslaving innocent Divines~ because they're not idealistic enough or too utilitarian or w/e… not the Divines going “Oh no the 30k years of our love weren't real! You only want us for our bodies! Guess we'll die” and flopping over… How about Divines actually step up and sacrifice themselves willingly for the common good, you know, the way countless humans have done in this universe across both arcs?! “They could be made to be what Candidates once were” Oh boo fucking hoo!
I'm just. Thinking of C/w finale and how unnecessarily brutal it was and how many people sacrificed themselves and others for the greater good. And you're telling me that the Divines and the entire Fleet as a society are too precious for that? And I don't mean sacrifice yourself like Belgard, I mean the bigger picture. A utopia that isn't for everyone isn't a utopia, etc, see that post about The Good Place that got a surprising amount of notes lol
Also count me as an Independence kin still. I would absolutely break up with someone over the right to die (then run away and make everyone really upset by my mere presence then behave in such a way they have to kill me, twice. Okay maybe not this part)
Honestly the whole concept of the Fleet sounds so toxic. It's like being fully financially dependent on your beloved parents forever.
Oh wait here's another thing I must rage about: they stopped making new Divines so that they wouldn't be enslaved! Here's a novel idea: how about instead making a Divine that could be turned into a more productive machine… you make that machine in the first place??? You know, how people in real life make machines to use instead of manual labor??
Like, the problem with Divines is a two-sided coin:
Flawed individuals should not possess inordinate amounts of power. They might abuse it, misuse or just use with good intentions but in controversial or questionable ways (see: the Divines in Counter/weight).
As a flip side, making an entire community almost fully dependent on labor of a small group of sentient beings of a separate species is an unfair burden to them, and even if it is provided willingly. The benefitters become dependent on providers, which is exacerbated by the latter's small numbers (the Fleet being thrown into a crisis by the loss of the final Divines and only coming out of it fine because another superpowered being happened to be nearby). The providers are put at risk of exploitation (the Divines of being “enslaved/killed”), especially since they are outnumbered. The benefitters’ genuine love for the providers is undermined and may eventually be corrupted and superseded by their vested interest in maintaining this arrangement -- but at the same time, wanting more resources is a natural thing and people cannot and should not be blamed for it. This relationship may be mutually beneficial (and it was for an astonishingly long time) but carries an inherent risk.
So Divines potentially have too much and too little power at the same time. Both of these problems could have been avoided if “a special kind of synthetic beings” and “algorithms and robots that provide unique services that form the backbone of society” were two separate things in the first place! Fine, you can't undo what happened tens of thousands of years ago under very specific circumstances and specific threat, but you could try to recognize the problem instead of building a community whose structure is bound to bring that problem to the forefront sooner or later.
Okaaay, so where did the Divines that “didn't make the cut”, other than Independence, go? Is there a club of really bitter superpowered rejects somewhere?
I really don't get why Tender is having such a crisis
Austin and Janine are a pair of sadistic bastards lmao
I can't believe it's only been an hour into the episode, feels like an eternity (in a good way)
On the one hand, it's nice that at least Anticipation was thinking about the things I wrote above. On the other, “They could be made to be what Candidates once were” becomes even more ridiculous, because Anticipation is using her excerpt like a candidate Right Now! In order to determine whether she and her kin should be used!
Tender gets her own version of the “Independence makes Grand an offer he can't refuse” scene :D
Okay, my first objection to “giving it to Sho” was “um, you want to waste that resource on becoming a museum piece?!” but my current one is, unlike the players' “Anticipation would hurt Sho”, is “do you really want to combine this with Sho's high-strung personality?”
Aaand Tender makes the right choice :D I'm glad.
Wow! This second episode has wildly exceeded all my expectations. What a ride
57-59
No offense, but I wish the three episodes of “everything is Advent's fault somehow, again” didn't stand in my way to the much superior premise of “Grand Magnificent and Waltz Tango Cache rescue Fouteen from a newly arrived rival faction's flagship”. God, I hope this goes in some interesting unexpecting direction asap.
Wait, was it ever mentioned that Echo's family is also separated onto the two planets? That's new to me, and it would have been relevant to the first post-Miracle arc.
Gig making a bold move, getting hit with 4 stress at once and gaining a status at the beginning of the mission:
Tumblr media
Blease tell me someone has redrawn that Community gif with Echo entering the completely trashed ship. That's such a good image
The entire throwing maneuver and the rolls they got… Absolutely fucking crazy
I actually yelped out loud when Echo failed a fucking desperate roll inside the light beam
How come Echo's nanites were inactive before but got activated now? How does that work?
It's strange how suddenly the show got intense again! The missions after the Miracle felt fun but unengaging for me, and I didn't expected it to pick up until the finale. So many ups and downs in this arc! Can't believe how quickly and often it went from “we basically won” to mortal danger in about one turn. The title should have been “Echo Reverie's Terrible, Bad, No Good Day”… Glad to see the theme of the weight of violence back. It feels very natural as a conflict between Even and Echo, but I wonder if later it would involve Grand Magnificent too – the discussion during Even's message for Cascabel reminded me of what I wrote after the holiday special.
60-61
Being one of the only two party members doesn't suit Waltz, he has to act dumb for the sake of player agency
I understand why Jack wants to see what the “new job” is about, but not why Fourteen does!
Ending the recap on “Now you're gonna go your separate ways, and everything's gonna fall apart” is, um, nice
Wait, why is Fourteen on their last life? And how would they know that?
Oh, here's the arms dealer Grand Magnificent I was waiting for lmao Although to be honest… That design wasn't that special in terms of military power, right? I remember the disussions of its complex appearance and the difficulty of shaping the material into this multifaceted sculpture, but it didn't have any innovative armor or weaponry, right? It's not like it's the first and only q-glass mech. I mean, setting aside the base problem that it might not be the most wise and ethical idea to give weapons to the amoral people for whom you just delivered a bomb (and are trying to ignore that fact) while they're tearing your friend's body apart, and that they would have settled for less… it's not like he gave them the part of the actual Divine Independence. I guess we'll see what Advent will do…
At some point Jack, I think, said that Grand is acting like Lem and I was like. Please don't. Can you not go into that direction in the future too please. I've already been concerned about his character arc since finishing Winter and this isn't helping!
Anyways today I had enough free time to listen to five episodes and now I'm hungover and also sad. I'm glad Grand Magnificent didn't suddenly become heroic but also this is depressing. Can't wait for everyone (minus him posssibly?) to finally meet and share the wild shit that happened to them recently. Tender is an excerpt! Fourteen is a knight and also on the brink of dying forever for some reason! Echo has fought in a civil war against their brother! Grand sold out to everyone's #1 enemy and left!
I don't really get ending episode on so much exposition… I understand the awkwardness of retelling an event that was intended to happen onscreen, but when Schism attacked, I assumed that fighting it would be the finale. On the other hand, I thought the same about the September Incident, and how happy I was to be wrong!
62-63
The downtime episode was excellent – exactly the thing I like! Two notes:
I can't be the only one bothered by the use of the word “fascist”, right? Greedy cynical bandits and graverobbers, capitalists, terrorists, whatever… but what does fascism do with any of that?
Everyone's plans for the future were pretty vague, but what I really didn't get was the heart of the debate between Signet and the Cadent. It sounded as if they were talking about the same thing with different words sometimes…
The doctor is Jace, correct? Rapid Evening, academic career, stratis, husband and wife, used to be rivals with someone named Rose? I had to relisten to the entire vignette looking for clues and trying to rememer anyone who would fit all of these descriptors.
