idk how links work in ask I hope it works
WOAH THERES SO MANY NUMBERS!!!!!
Hi hello!!! The link worked dw lollll
8. I want to work at the house on the rock, or at least in the area surrounding it. I visited once and fell completely in love with the area. Also, it’s one of the more realistic job aspirations, as I can’t see myself doing anything rly significant with my life lol.
Anyhow, I’d love to take literally any house at the house on the rock, i adore it SO so much
10. Augh I don’t have that many interesting facts about me….
One of my pupils is larger than the other? One of my friends noticed it when I had my first ocular migraine, and when we went and looked at old pictures of me, it was right there in the pictures, and we’d just never noticed. Super crazy. The left side of my body continues its trend of being fucked up lol.
20. OO OKAY SO I learned a lot about this today because I was on a video essay kick which finishing a puzzle, but the Datura flower, (Datura Stramonium L), is a SUPER powerful hallucinogenic drug that induces crazy hallucinations and can permanently alter the brains of the people who take them. I know almost nothing about hallucinogenic drugs, (or most drugs lol) but the fact that Datura is super interesting to me.
I first heard about it in the Mabel Podcast, (that I can’t recommend enough, it’s so good), but Datura is fascinating to me. Never gonna touch it though. No thank you.
I chose Datura because I could talk about MK Ultra for literally years and I’d be here all day, I have too many useless facts about that event memorized.
More under the cut, Ty for sending so many :))
30. Dunking my head under a sink. Instant nausea relief and stopper of hysteria. Something about the water on the back of my head is very awakening.
Either that or taking a shower in the dark, but that’s mostly a winter depression thing lolll
33. Other people in the kitchen when I’m trying to bake. Get out of my wayyyyyyy
34. The ending of the Addressing of Cats, everything Haley Heynderickx has ever written ever, In Case I Make It by Will Wood, Love in the Time of Socialism, Savannah Brown, and the end of Encanto. Yes I’m outing myself as a fan of that movie in the year of 2024. It’s so personal and emotional to me. It swells emotionally and musically so so well.
35. I want people to know that I am being genuine, and I want to be kind. A bit basic, but I want people to know that if they’re kind to others and me, I will be kind to you.
#asks!!!!!!!#seeing Haley Heynderickx live and the fact that I have recordings and a cd to remember it#is one of the things keeping me going ngl#Haley I love you so much please come back to me#I rambled so much in the makes me cry section I’m so sorry#I am simply an emotional person and also a lover of things and art 🫶🫶#anyhow uhhh THANK YOU FOR SENDING SO MANY 🫶🫶🫶💐💐😭😭

OMG NEVER FEEL SORRY ABOUT NOT RESPONDING RIGHT AWAY!!! I totally get it, some days are just like that!!!! I’m literally just here to yap at you so respond whenever you feel like! Don’t feel obligated to respond at all because you don’t owe me anything!!! <3333
Slowly but surely I’m making my way through the depression room lol. My mom wants to turn my room into a guest bedroom and the basement into my new room so it needs to be cleaned by the end of the year. So hopefully more surely than slowly lol- OMG GOOD JOB!!!! I LOVE THE FEELING OF ACCOMPLISHMENT FROM FINISHING SOMETHING WELL!!!!
NESS YOU CAN’T JUST TELL PPL YOU’RE PROUD OF THEM- I WILL START CRYING 😭😭😭😭😭😭🫶🏻
Worry not! I am not stressing about senior year!!! I’ve already decided where I’m going to college just waiting for the applications to allow me to apply for fall of 2025 (I’m going on vacation summer 2025 and thus will not be able to start- it is a cruise in case you’re curious 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️ my graduation present if you will) BAHAHA!!! Definitely what happened! I smash so many holes in walls/j
(HOW DID YOU KNOW I HAD A COOKIE HEAD??? WHO TOLD YOU???/lh)
Good news! We did not take senior photos! And yes my hair appointment went very well 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️ I now have purple and pink hair (split into like four sections and it’s like alternating so pink in front and purple in back on one side and the opposite on the other side) THE ORANGEY PINK WAS NOT PRETTY. DO NOT LET IT FOOL YOU. It was like bad blonde orange and like salmon pink- not good it looked really bad and washed me out bcs cookie anon has a complexion that rivals Casper the ghost.
AHFJWJCJSJ I WILL SEND SO MANY ASKS. YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’VE STARTED. I LOVE YAPPING AND APPRECIATE THAT YOU YAP JUST AS MUCH IN YOUR REPLY!!!! <3333
I too think about Suna a lot, just a weekly basis (love notes Suna gets like three-four times a week. Regular/Timeskip Suna only gets like twice a week if he’s lucky. The rest of the time is spent thinking about that one Osamu manga panel 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨)
I can see it now; Atsumu did something (took the Mac n cheese from Y/N’s apartment for his own selfish Mac n cheese midnight snacks) and Y/N of course goes to complain to Suna who laughs at her and then tells Osamu- In which case, Bakery Anon will become evil 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️ anything for Osamu (+ Love Notes! Y/N…Suna is there but Y/N <3) so we put chiles in the icing of cupcakes and give them to Atsumu. Tada! Self Shipping During the week hours-
Okay! I think I found the fic so RAMBLE TIME.
NAH Y/N IS SO REAL FOR THE “I mean he wasn’t hot before” BUT THEN HE GETS COVERED IN BLOOD AND PATHETIC. REAL REAL REAL. AND THEN SUNA SENDING THE PHOTO. I’M NOT ENTIRELY CONVINCED HE DIDN’T PURPOSEFULLY TRY TO RECEIVE WITH HIS FACE TO SEND THE PHOTO TO HER.
ALL OF YOUR TAGS ARE SO REAL. I ALSO HAVE VERG NON PG THINGS TO SAY ABOUT HIM. JWJFJWJDJSJ
Okay back to our regularly scheduled programming.
I read your little about me and I agree. Oikawa is also very important to me. I could write an essay on him and why he’s such a Human character. and why he’s perfect to be like a 1-1 with Kageyama but also be his own thing separately- this is not a ramble about him though so 🧍🏻♀️
OKAY YAPPING DONE. CLOCKING OUT.
For the people who made it this far and see this: YOU GUYS ARE WORTHY OF LOVE. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise, you deserve to be loved and not be a secret. You deserve food, your body needs it to function. You deserve water, it’s very important. It helps with headaches, make sure to get sleep. I know it’s difficult (I have insomnia so I get it) but routines help even if just a little bit. Remember to rest and that you deserve a little break. And if no one else tells you today. I LOVE YOU <3
For Ness: I LOVE YOU <333 YOUR WRITING MAKES ME FERAL. (If you can’t tell). I can’t wait to continue yapping with you, yap sessions >>>> you ALSO deserve a break. If you don’t feel like writing then we’ll be here after your break. Remember to have fun and take care of yourself. Drink water and eat food! I know it’s easy to forget but as long as you eat some sustenance! Good job!!!!

Omg where to start. I have already been punched in the heart over and over with just this first chapter of ywlm. I guess here are just some rambling thoughts?
- that hello kitty boombox. Something that was a symbol of the role you could never fulfill, but also gave you the first thing you could really claim: music. And now claiming it as a tether to your Inner Child, to keep what you choose of Little Sirius and spend some time seeing him and telling him "it's going to be ok see we have our boom box our stuffie our proof we were a child once we existed and that childood happened and now I'm the grown up I'm here and I'm going to take care of you"
-I am ill for the Black brothers and always will be. The "I'm proud of you" is truly the most emotionally poignant thing a younger sibling in a family like that can say to their elder sibling who doesn't quite fit the mold. And the gender validation "big brother" I cry and laugh and celebrate so intensely with Sirius there. And how Sirius wants to protect Reggie but Sirius needs his own protection more than Regulus does. That's a brutal reality for an older sibling: because your younger sibling "fits the mold," they will be more ok than you will be if you don't save yourself. You have to give up the one role you did have: big sibling. Protector.
- the shopping scene omg. I was curious what reading this would feel like, since I am not trans but have major body ish leftover from growing up in the 00's and my god. Wonky sizing, feeling overwhelmed, being able to pick your own clothes instead of your mother doing it and not knowing where to start. I was FEELING Sirius there. It was giving the fitting room in the junior's section of Macy's. And I loved seeing him be brave and pick that skirt because he LIKED it and he could PICTURE himself in it, and start to dream about presenting the way HE wants rather than having to miserably exist in these extreme binaries to try to make things easier for everyone else except himself.
- ok last but not least the queer gaze from James and Remus. I don't know if your James is going to be queer but to me, juxtaposing those two moments side by side is Sirius's introduction to the other side of the mirror, the queer spaces where he will be fully seen and loved for the first time. The fact that just the way they *looked* at Sirius was clocked as Different from how anyone had ever looked at Sirius before, like "he wasn't a problem to solve" (and I'm going to come back to that line), to me that puts all three of them on the queer playing field so to speak. I am wicked pumped for the found family vibes.
-and ok REMUS. Having a boy look at you like that and making you feel like LIKE YOU AREN'T A PROBLEM TO SOLVE is a big fucking deal for an AFAB or femme teen in 2005. I've written about this. A lot. Living under the male gaze is so all-encompassing, it's like the very air you breathe from the moment you're born. And it's not until you're a teen that you realize the implications of it, but in 2005, you have no idea where the exit is. You're just stuck in this maze trying to use whatever tools you have to find some reprieve from having your body always being the first and most important thing that is noticed about you-- like maybe being a "tomboy," or in my case, leaning into purity culture and patriarchal hyper-femininity. I LOVE that Remus is going to be part of that "exit sign" for Sirius- like turn here onto Lupin Avenue for unconditional acceptance and whatever the opposite of objectification is.
Um ok hope this wasn't too much but I've said before I learn so much from your writing so I wanted to share what Things you are making me Think. Can't wait to read more!!!!
okay putting this under a cut bc my response is sooooo long <3
hi hello i’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reply to this - i just haven’t had the time to really sit down and give it the kind of attention it deserves!
the BOOMBOX. one of the first things i pictured when i started writing this was sirius’s boombox. bc Little Sirius needed something to cling onto that he could make his, and that could carry over into their new life. its basically a character in itself lmao i an very attached to The Boombox
sibling dynamics are so important to me. i am the youngest, though, and so when i write about regulus and sirius it’s a flipped situation from mine - i was younger and did not fit in and my sibling was older and Normal. but yes, regulus is very aware that he needs to be a support system for sirius, and all he really needs FROM sirius is for them to be around. they’ll get there.
a lot of fics (that i love and re-read all the time) explore sirius acting out and like, getting tattoed and stuff once they’re allowed to make their own decisions. in ywlm, sirius is acting against what his parents want, but in the way he can just - let his body exist however he wants to and it does not answer to anyone but them. there are a few other scenes coming up where we get to hang out with sirius while they do a 2000s shopping montage and i love thm.
my james IS queer, yes. everyone is queer to me at this point tbh! a similar thing happens in chapter 2 where like - quuer people just SEE each other, in a way that’s hard to explain to anyone who isn’t. sirius deserves a bizarre little family of misfits and he will get one. i
REMUS oh i LOVE him. he’s so soft in this. also like, it’s weird bc sirius isn’t as aware of that gaze bc he grew up with parents who didn’t really let them out of the house. like they know that it’s bc their parents see him as a girl and treat them differently but he won’t really connect the dots for a minute. so like, for them it’s more of a gender thing. very similar to how it was for me. i’ll go into this a lil more in depth later on, but. anyway REMUS i love the idea of him just being Some Guy and like he’s objectively handsome but sirius doesn’t fall for him bc of that, he falls for remus bc he gets them, exactly as they are. they’re so good for each other i’m :’)
anyway no it’s never too much, thank you so so much for reading my silly little fic. i LOVE talking about it, and i will continue to do so with any and everyone who will let me lol xx

Ella, you have yet again succeeded in making me cry in the best way possible 😭 Your words are always so sad, but hauntingly beautiful and your use of imagery is just unparalleled! (I’ll share some of my favorites under the cut!).
I’ve been wanting to read this since forever, and I finally got around to it. I was a bit apprehensive because of my own mood (still depressed, lol), but even though this was sad (and happy too, the nostalgia!!) it was so healing too 🥹 Like, damn, OC and Jin really went through it and the way you described her heartbreak— hauntingly beautiful as I said before 😭 So many times that I just bawled my eyes out, and I wanted them to get back together, but then I was like, but OC is hurting so much, I wonder if Jin is the same? AND HE WAS 😭 So beautiful, so emotional 💖
Always. Everything I’ve read from you, you always deliver on this and I love it so much! The angst is so healing? Can we call it that? “Healing angst?” 😂 I hope you know what I mean— the kind of angst that takes you on a heartfelt journey, might be heartbreaking and sad, but the ending will be oh so fulfilling it will make the journey worth it ✨
I love how nostalgic is was, it was so sad, them going through their feelings and the dialogue was just so good, how they looked at each other— AND ALL THE WORDS THEY DIDN’T SAY, but was so clear in their actions 👏😭
I am just rambling by now, but it was fucking perfect, and girl, you deserve the whole world, you have to know how amazing you are! Thank you for sharing your wonderful stories, pieces of your heart with us 🥹 Ella, you are so wonderful and I wish you the best and I hope everything is going well with the book, maybe you’re finished with editing it now?
Here’s some of your lovely writing that really resonated with me, with some small details of how it touched me too ✨
“[...] Jin was but a lingering thought at the back of your mind and buried deep down in your heart. But tonight, every breath you took smelled like the ghost of him, and the afterimage of the light on your retina was painted in his silhouette.”
Hold up here. This is deep. And it made me teary 😭
“[...] closer to you than most of the human population, still so far he was but a lingering ghost in your life.”
This sentence was so beautiful and yet so fucking sad and empty? But oh so freaking beautiful 😭
“[...] like an unreachable goal that shimmered in the distance the same way a mirage did in the desert.”
This is what I mean when I said I love your use of imagery, this line is just beautiful, so easy to imagine and it hurts, so good. 😭
“[...] The only thing you wanted was to add one more thing, yet the words didn’t reach your lips, dying somewhere in your throat, choking it up with nostalgia and apprehension.”
This line and section in the story was so hard. She yearns for him, but she doesn’t trust herself and her own heart with him. She’s so afraid that he’s going to break her heart again 😭 And the sentence you had after that paragraph made me choke in tears. So beautiful and sad. And I totally understand OC, not wanting to start again, because he hurt her so much, he might do it again, and it’s better to shield herself from that. Like I get that! But damn, I’m so happy she let him back in, and it all escalated, she let her feelings out, that she didn’t get to three years ago and, and, and, Ella it was just perfection, okay 😭
“Learning what it meant for one to become two, and for two to become one again.”
Ahhhh so fucking beautiful 😭
“Love, in its purest form, knitting two hearts together until it was one, beating forever in unison.”
I’m going to end with this one, because it’s so fucking beautiful!
Ella, thank you 💜 I’m sorry for my long review, oh I forgot to add I loved the bit with Namjoon and his date, because I remember that from the Namjoon fic! I still think I need to read one or two more in the series and I can’t wait to dig in ❤️🔥 I hope you have a good day/night and a wonderful week and month— all good things to you sweetheart ✨

what if you did a blurb where someone says something mean to the reader about her relationship with harry and floss and they comfort her
"Hey, I'm at the shops, do we need anything at home?" I asked as I plucked the Rubik's cube off the shelf and putting in my basket, definitely needing one of those.
"Hi, baby! Hold on, let me go check the fridge," Harry said as he answered the phone. "Florence! Do you need anything from the store?" he shouted up the stairs.
"Jesus, fuck, Harry! Move the phone next time," I flinched as he yelled, clearly not moving his phone away from his ear.
"Shit, sorry. Didn't mean to do that. Florence says she needs portabello mushrooms. 10ish should do," Harry opened the fridge and looked inside.
"What the fuck is a portabello mushroom?" I asked confused as I headed for the fruit and veggies section.
"Them white mushrooms she always cooks with. Think the underside of the cap is brown? Oh, we need almond milk," Harry mused as he shook the last carton that was in there.
"If I end up buying the wrong ones and they turn out to be mega poisonous, it's not my fault," I put my phone between my ear and shoulder as I grabbed a bag and shook it out before plopping some mushrooms down into it.
"Pretty sure they don't sell poisonous foods at the store, babe," Harry chuckled as he headed back to his spot on the couch.
Dropping the bag into the basket, I grabbed my phone properly again and went to get the milk. "But you're not 100% certain. I rest my case," I smiled as I grabbed three cartons of milk. "I'm just about done, so talk when I get home?" I said as I headed to grab a few bags of crisps and some chocolates.
"Yeah, alright. Drive safe," Harry told me, making me smile as always.
"Of course. Love you," I replied before hanging up. Heading to the checkout, I grabbed a magazine with Harry's face on it - very curious to read about how our relationship was doing lately.
"Don't I know you from somewhere?" a young lady asked suddenly, making me jump a bit as I finished packing up the things I'd bought.
"Emm, I don't think so?" I replied and gave her a polite smile before walking towards the exit.
"No, I think I do," the lady said and followed me. "Oh wait! I know! You're that girl who's with that boy and girl! Fucking slag," she spat out, following me the whole way to the car.
I didn't say anything as I unlocked the car and put the bags in the back.
"It's so obvious you're just after their money. Let me guess? Got you this car did they? Can't even make your mind up about who you want... Greedy little gold-digging bitch,"
"Oh, fuck off," I muttered as I glared at her while going round to the drivers' side.
"You fucking swear at me?! You fucking cunt!" the lady screeched before I felt something warm splash all over front and side.
Gasping, I looked down and pulled my jumper as far away from my body as it allowed before I watched her run away. Staring at her in shock, I only looked away when I couldn't see her anymore.
Feeling my eyes welling up with tears and my bottom lip starting to tremble, I opened the car door and quickly got in - locking the car as soon as the door was shut. My hands were trembling as I grabbed the seat belt and buckled myself in. It was fine. Everything was fine.
Before I knew it I was pulling up in the driveway not really remembering anything about the drive here. Quickly wiping my face, I took a deep breath and got out of the car. Grabbing the bags from the back, I hurried inside.
"Hi, babe," Harry called out from the living room.
"Hi," I stuttered out, kicking off my shoes quickly and putting the bags down. My hands were still shaking. Hearing Harry getting up, I bolted up the stairs, hoping he wouldn't see the state of me or my jumper.
"Woah, where you going?" Harry asked as he looked up the stairs.
"Nothing!" I called back before realizing my mistake. Dashing into the bedroom, I grabbed the bottom off the jumper and took it off quickly before doing the same with my top.
"You okay?" Florence asked.
Letting out a little scream as I looked over and saw her on the bed. "Fuck. I'm fine," I replied shakily and walked towards the bathroom. "Fine, just need to clean up,"
"Wait, you sure you're okay?" Florence asked as she got off the bed, putting down the script she'd been rehearsing when Harry came in.
"I'm fine," I said just as a tear rolled down my cheek as I closed the door and locked it quickly.
"You're crying. Baby, what happened?" Florence asked as she walked over to the door quickly and tried opening it, looking confused back at Harry.
Harry just shrugged before he picked up the discarded clothing and looked at it. "There's coffee on these," he said and came up to the door too.
I looked at myself in the mirror and couldn't help but check out my skin to see if it was red. It wasn't. The coffee had only been warm, not hot. Seeing a stain on my bra, I took that off too and grabbed my big, fluffy hoodie that I'd wear before bed to get cozy.
"Darling, what happened? Did someone spill their drink on you?" Florence asked, leaning against the wall.
More tears fell from my eyes. I cleared my throat. "No," I sniffled, grimacing as I saw myself. Turning away, I jumped up and sat on the bathroom counter. "Someone kind of threw it at me," I said quietly.
"What? Say again? Did you say someone threw it at you?" Harry asked, staring at the door, brows furrowed.
I clasped a hand over my mouth and squeezed my eyes shut tightly as I tried to not cry.
"Open the door. Baby, please," Florence asked, testing the handle again.
"It's okay, I just need a minute. I didn't get burned or anything," I spoke up after taking a calming breath.
Harry clenched his jaw tightly as he closed his eyes while Florence walked over to the vanity and grabbed on her big flat earrings. "Baby, unless you tell me no I'm going to open this lock from the outside," she said and listened carefully.
I wanted to tell them to just go away and leave me alone but I also wanted them to close so I said nothing.
"Okay, I'm opening it," Florence said as she wedged the earrings into the slit on the lock and twisted it to unlock. She grasped the handle and opened the door slowly.
"Hi, baby," she spoke softly as she put the earring down next to me and put her hands on my arms.
I sniffled and wiped my face with my sleeve as I glanced at them both quickly before closing my eyes again. I couldn't bear to see how angry Harry was or how worried Flossie was.
"We need you to tell us what happened, okay? Did you say someone threw coffee at you?" she asked calmly.
I nodded.
"Where did this happen? At the store? Who threw it at you?" Florence rubbed my arms gently.
"It was at the store parking lot," I cried and wiped my eyes. "There was this lady and she didn't like me very much," I whispered.
"What lady? What did she say? Why the fuck would she throw her coffee at you?" Harry asked angrily.
I whimpered and grabbed onto Flossie.
Flo glared at Harry. "Calm down," she hissed before turning back to me. "It's okay. He's not mad at you, baby. I promise. What did this woman say to you?" she said as wiped away some of my tears.
"Just the usual stuff," I shrugged. "I'm a gold-digging whore who gets everything I want and I'm using you cause I can't even decide which one of you I want," I whispered tiredly, memories of past incidents flashing through my mind. I usually didn't take these people's words to heart cause I knew they weren't true and so did Harry and Flossie.
Harry made a noise and rubbed his hands together before crossing his hands over his chest.
"I don't mind the words, I just got scared when she threw the coffee you know? That's never happened before, and I didn't even know it was coffee at first. I just felt something warm and a million things went through my mind, thinking the worst," I rambled.
"Are you sure you didn't get burned? Can I have a look?" Florence asked gently, needing to check that first before unpacking everything else that woman had said.
I nodded and pulled up my hoodie. It was all over my front and side," I told her as I sniffled.
Harry walked over, biting down on his lip as he searched my skin for any sign of irritation.
"I can't see anything so that's good," Florence said as she pulled the hoodie back down. "Come on, let's go cuddle,"
Wiping my face with my sleeve, I held her hand as I jumped down from the counter and followed her into the bedroom. Getting under the blankets I snuggled as close to her as I could, letting the scent of her perfume, her warm touch, and the sound of her breathing calm me down.
"Harry, come lie down," Florence said gently as she looked at him, watching him pace back and forth.
Harry stopped his pacing and looked at Florence. "Shouldn't we be calling the police or something? Try and figure out who this lady is?!" he asked frustrated and angry.
"I'll call our solicitor in a bit and she'll take it from there. Come lie down," Florence said a matter of factly and held out her hand. "Come on,"
Harry let out a frustrated grunt as he walked over to the bed and got in. "You know what she said isn't true right? That we don't think that?" he said as he wrapped his arms around me tightly.
Pressing a kiss to Florence's neck, I turned around so I was facing Harry. "Yeah. I know," I whispered as I nudged his nose with mine.
"I love you so much. I'm sorry I wasn't there with you, I'm sorry it happened. Never letting you out of my sight again," he said, pulling me as close as physically possible.
"I love you too," I sniffled, smiling as Florence moved in a bit closer too, trapping me in a cuddle sandwich.
She pulled the blankets up higher over me and Harry before resting her arm over us both.
"I left the almond milk in the bags in the hallway. We should put it away," I said after a bit of silence.
Harry shook his head, holding on tighter. "Fuck the almond milk,"

The weather was absolutely perfect. The sun was bright and shining but it wasn’t hot enough to make you sweat. The wind was gentle and rustled the leaves on the trees with a tender caress, the birds were singing, and for the first time in a while, you felt good. You had taken a walk to the nearby park, making a few laps around the walking trail before settling yourself against a tree to soak in some sun and relax. You had promised yourself you’d get out more after being holed up in your apartment alone with only your red wine and oreos to keep you company. It had been a few weeks since you’d broken up with your boyfriend of the time, and you were finally ready to become a productive citizen of society again.
It was the perfect day to do so in your opinion, everything around you seemed so tranquil. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, allowing the warm air to soothe you. That was, until you heard a shrill shrieking and your eyes popped open seconds before a girl who couldn’t have been older than two, catapulted herself into your arms. She was screaming, crying, clinging to you for dear life, one hand pointing behind her and you looked up to see a disgruntled goose hissing at the two of you, stalking closer with a threatening posture.
You slowly stood and backed up behind the tree, holding the small girl close to you, ready to use your body to shield her own. The goose hissed a few more times, but thankfully did not advance any closer. You waited, watching quietly, and it seemed to decide you weren’t worth it before hissing in warning once more and stalking off towards its nest. You let out a breath of relief, and tried to set the little girl down but she clung to you and made it clear she wasn’t letting go, so you rubbed her back soothingly.
“Where’s your mommy and daddy?” you asked quietly.
“I don’t know.” she sniffled into your neck.
“That’s okay, I’ll help you find them.”
You carried her closer to the playground section of the park, looking around for someone who might be looking for her. Soon you heard a frantic male voice booming through the air.
“Yeona! YEONA!”
The little girl’s head popped up at the sound, her head turning towards the voice.
“Daddy?”
You looked up and followed her line of sight, your gaze landing on a hunk of a man. He was tall, well-built but not bulky, with thick, black hair and lovely tan skin. The man’s eyes locked with the child in your arms and he visibly melted in relief seeing his daughter alive and unharmed. He ran over to the two of you quickly, guiding the fluffy dog on the leash with him. He reached the two of you almost instantly, and Yeona slipped from your arms into her father’s embrace easily, snuggling up to him.
“Thank goodness you’re okay! I was so worried!” he fretted, smoothing down her hair and fretting over her, causing her to let out the cutest giggle you’d ever heard in your life.
His gaze turned to you after he’d calmed down enough to pay attention to anything but the little girl in his arms, and it was then that you noticed his perfectly straight pearly white teeth, soft lips, and eyes that shimmered like diamonds. Your breath caught in your throat as he watched you and then he began to ramble.
“Thank you so much, I am so sorry! Mickey got his leash tangled around a pole and I turned my back for two seconds and she was gone! I was so scared I thought I was going to throw up, I kept thinking about all those stories I heard about little girls getting kidnapped and sold into slavery and I think I almost passed out. Thank you so much for keeping her safe, I don’t know how I can ever repay you. She is my everything I don’t know what I’d do without her, she’s all I’ve got left and I…” he sighed, taking a deep breath and opening those shimmery eyes to meet yours once again, “thank you.”
“It’s really no problem, I get it. Kids can be a handful.” you smiled reassuringly.
“Thank you so much. For helping. For not judging. Oh! I’m Hoseok.” he extended a hand to you and you shook it gently, feeling sparks racing up your arm and down your spine but you shook them off.
“Y/N. Nice to meet you.”
You both heard Yeona’s stomach growl and Hoesok laughed.
“Time for lunch, little one?”
She nodded and pouted adorably.
“Say bye to Y/N.”
Her little face scrunched up in displeasure and she started crying, reaching out desperately for you, and Hoseok almost dropped her from the unexpected shift in her weight. Taken aback, you allowed her to jump into your arms once more, cradling her close so she didn’t fall. She buried her head in your neck and you looked at Hoseok in shock.
“I’m so sorry, Yeona come on we have to go.” he tried prying her from your frame but she only wailed in response, clutching tighter.
“NO.”
“Yeona please, Y/N must want to go home.”
“No!” she sobbed.
You rubbed her back soothingly, rocking from side to side a bit to calm her down.
“Hey, it’s okay, don’t cry. Look at me, okay?”
She pulled back slightly to look at your face and you smiled.
“There’s a pretty girl!” you smiled, smoothing down some hair that had gone awry. “How’s this? If you go get lunch with daddy, I promise we can play together at the park soon. Okay? Well, if that’s alright with you?” you looked up at Hoseok.
“Of course!” he agreed quickly.
“But… I want you to come too.” she pouted, looking up at you with pitiful puppy dog eyes.
You looked up at Hoseok for some direction and he watched the two of you carefully.
“Would you like to join us for lunch? My treat. As a thank you.” he offered, scratching the back of his neck nervously, a shy smile gracing his lips.
“I don’t want to impose-” you began but Yeona whined loudly.
“Please!”
“I mean, if you’re sure…” you trailed off.
“Yay!” Yeona grinned, hugging you tightly then wiggling out of your grasp and taking your hand, pulling you along with her towards the car.
Hoseok laughed and followed the two of you with Mickey on his leash. Yeona insisted that you sit with her in the back so she could show you her collection of stickers. You gave the appropriate excited responses to each one, even gifting you a shimmery mermaid, pressing it into your shirt, telling you it was her favorite but she wanted you to have it.
Hoseok pulled up to a local cafe that had outdoor seating, saying he didn’t feel comfortable leaving Mickey in the car alone, a fact that warmed your heart. You helped Yeona slide onto the bench, Hoseok sitting across from the two of you. You ordered something cheap, not wanting to burden him, and made small talk while you waited for your food.
“Thank you again, so much, for keeping Yeona safe. I don’t know what I’d do if something had happened to her,” Hoseok sighed.
“No problem at all, thank you for lunch!”
Hoseok smiled, and turned to watch Yeona draw something on one of those kids menus they give out with crayons, her picture depicting the day at the park.
“So is your wife at work?” you asked, sipping on your soda, attempting to avoid the silence.
“I, uh, don’t have a wife,” he chuckled, scratching the back of his neck nervously.
“Oh I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize - your husband?”
“I’m single.” Hoseok laughed.
“Oh. So it’s just you raising Yeona?”
“Yeah, it’s been just us since the beginning. Her mom… it wasn’t a permanent thing, and when she realized she was pregnant, she wanted to…” he glanced over at Yeona, and though she was busy messing with Mickey, Hoseok still imitated the scissor motion with his hands, rather than saying the word.
Your eyes grew wide and you glanced over at Yeona.
“I mean, I believe in choices, don’t get me wrong, but I couldn’t imagine that happening to my child. I begged her to reconsider and promised I wouldn’t ask for anything if she let me keep Yeona, and here we are.”
“Wow, I don’t know what to say,” you watched his face for a reaction.
“You don’t have to say anything! I just wanted to thank you again.”
“Anyone would’ve done the same, I hope.”
“You would hope, but oftentimes I just get judgemental looks or scowls. People aren’t very kind to single parents, apparently,” he sighed, twirling the straw around in his drink, “so your kindness is appreciated.”
“Of course. I’m sorry you’ve been treated that way. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to raise a child alone. If you never need anything, you can call me? If you feel comfortable?” you offered, holding out your phone.
“Really? You wouldn’t mind?” Hoseok’s eyes widened in shock.
You shook your head with a smile, handing over your phone for him to input his number and texted him so he had yours. Hoseok looked star struck, and you wondered why someone so bright and happy could receive such backlash. You couldn’t focus on that thought for long, because Yeona jumped up excitedly, clapping and pointing to the waiter who was bringing your food.
You helped her cut hers into smaller bites and entertained her throughout the meal whilst eating yours so Hoseok could relax and enjoy his food, and you didn’t miss the appreciative smile he sent you.
Throughout the next few months, you spent more and more time with both Hoseok and Yeona. You’d meet them at the park, accompany them on little adventures, video chat with them before bed. You began hanging out at their house, spending your days nestled in the crook of their couch with Yeona snuggled up against your side while you watched Frozen 2 for the six hundredth time, or conducting a rather elegant tea party in which you’d convinced Hoseok to wear a tiara for.
You spent so much time around the pair, their home had begun to feel like a home away from home. You often found yourself crashing on the couch after playing too hard and staying too late. You searched YouTube and learned how to french braid since Yeona couldn’t stop talking about “princess hair” and Hoseok was… less than talented with her hair. You would sit behind her on her bed, braiding her hair and telling her silly stories and jokes, and began to love the little girl as your own.
Hoseok would sneak up behind you and attack the both of you with tickles or start a bubble fight. Sometimes it was hard to forget you weren’t a family, especially when strangers in public mistook you for one. You’d blush and look away, while Hoseok would gently correct them… at first. Slowly, Hoseok stopped correcting them, saying they could think whatever they wanted.
You tried not to read too much into that, but you couldn’t help the way your heart fluttered when he would just let other people think that you were together, that you were a family. Sometimes, he’d even play it up, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you in close, purposefully giving people the wrong idea with a mischievous smirk on his face.
You’d try to hide the heat on your skin, the way your heart pounded, the way your breathing seemed a little uneven when he got too close. While you’d just seen Hoseok as an attractive man and a wonderful father at first, the more time you spent with him, the more you had begun to fall for him. He was so sweet and funny and kind and cared about Yeona so much it burned your insides with joy.
The nights when you’d stay, you both had a habit of sipping on a glass of wine while you chatted, just enjoying each other’s company, and enjoying the peace and quiet. You’d never trade Yeona for anything, but sometimes she was so energetic the both of you couldn’t quite keep up, needing to unwind and relax after she’d fallen asleep.
You’d met his friends and parents at Yeona’s third birthday party, and they loved you as much as Hoseok did, a fact that caused his bright smile to glow to the point he rivaled the sun. You’d become a staple in their lives, a constant, someone they could rely on. It was crazy to you how one fateful day had changed the course of your life, and these two unsuspecting strangers had grabbed onto your heart and refused to let go. You couldn’t say you were complaining though.
Not when you were the cause of Yeona’s adorable little giggle, her tiny hands coming to cover her face while her entire frame shook from the force of her laughter. Not when you’d look over and catch Hoseok watching the two of you with a wistful, joyful expression. Not when he’d join the fun and you’d both chase her around the yard, Mickey following and barking while his tail wagged a million miles an hour.
There had even been a few nights you’d awoken on their couch to find Yeona crawling up next to you, whimpering pathetically as she mumbled “bad dream” and reached to you for comfort. You’d hold her close and stroke her hair, humming gentle lullabies to soothe her weary young mind. There were nights when you weren’t there and you’d get a FaceTime call at an unholy hour, Hoseok apologizing, saying Yeona wouldn’t go back to sleep without speaking to you.
You’d comfort her and assure her everything was alright, and you would visit her soon, and the two of you would have so much fun she wouldn’t even remember why she was sad in the first place. Hoseok would thank you, apologizing that he couldn’t convince her to leave you be, and you’d shrug him off, telling him you were available anytime. You loved her and would do anything to make her happy. What you didn’t tell him was that the same applied to him...
It was almost embarrassing how badly you wanted him, how badly you wanted to be a true part of their little family. You knew you had a special place in their hearts, that you were an honorary part of the family, but you couldn’t stop yourself from imagining what it might have been like if you were to be with Hoseok, if you were to accept Yeona as your own. Would you be able to make them happy? Or would you just be trying to fill a void meant for someone else? You’d shrug those thoughts away as soon as they came and focus on living your life as normally as you could.
That’s when your other thoughts about Hoseok would set in. To say you wanted Hoseok would be quite the understatement. Yes, you wanted to be a part of their family in the simplest ways, to be there for them and love them unconditionally, but there was also that lingering attraction. You couldn’t keep your eyes off of him some days when he laughed, when his shirt rode up and accidentally displayed the trail of hair leading down to the promised land.
When he’d display his strength by helping you move something, or when he’d wrap his arms around you just a little too tightly, allowing your bodies to press against each other. If you weren’t cooing over how cute the two of them were, you were thirsting over Hoseok and trying desperately to think innocent thoughts, lest your arousal get so potent he would notice.
Once, you’d gone to the pool with Hoseok and Yeona, thinking nothing of the invite until you’d shown up in your bikini, ready to swim. Hoseok had physically ceased moving and his gaze had slowly trailed down your body, drinking in the sight of you so scantily-clad. His gaze had your skin burning more than the hot summer sun and you squirmed under his undivided attention, unable to stop yourself from also peeking a glance at his shirtless chest. Smooth skin, abs that weren’t too defined but were definitely there, that drool-worthy v shape that disappeared into his trunks…
You’d both snapped back to reality when Yeona had whined loudly, asking you to play with her under the waterfall station. Heat had flooded your cheeks and Hoseok had looked down with a guilty expression, scratching the back of his neck with a chuckle, saying he’d find a chair to place your items at and would meet the two of you over there.
There was also the time you’d come over for movie night a little earlier than planned and Hoseok had answered the door in a towel, loosely hung low on his hips and you’d been mesmerized by the water droplets that slowly traveled down his almost naked body. You’d audibly sucked in a breath, your mouth parting just slightly, and Hoseok had apologized, then rushed off to get dressed, but you hadn’t gotten the image out of your mind since.
On Friday night, you’d just arrived home after a long day at work, flinging yourself onto the couch with your amazon package in hand, a cute JoJo bow you’d picked up for Yeona after seeing it on the app during your late night scrolling. All your targeted ads were now centered around items for young girls rather than women your own age from you spoiling the young girl so much. You smiled to yourself and just as the thought had left your mind, your phone rang.
“Y/N!” Hoseok gasped, sounding panicked.
You immediately sat up, “what’s wrong?”
“I have this event for work tonight that I absolutely can not miss and my babysitter just cancelled. I tried calling the guys, my mom, everyone! No one’s available and I hate to ask this, but do you think you could watch Yeona? I swear it’ll only take like, two hours! Tops!”
“Hobi, calm down. I’ll be there in ten, okay?”
“What did I ever do to deserve you?!” he sighed in relief.
“You ordered me pizza for tonight.”
“You got it. The usual?”
“You’re the best, I’ll see you soon.”
You hoisted yourself up from the couch and trudged out the door, making quick work of your drive to Hoseok’s place. The door swung open before you could even knock, and Yeona flung herself into you, wrapping her arms around your legs, then reaching up for you to hold her. You leaned down and picked her up, snuggling her close to you as she wrapped her arms around your neck.
“Daddy said you’re going to play with me! By ourselves!” she bounced excitedly in your arms.
“It’s true! Are you excited?”
“Yes!”
You giggled and placed her on the ground, turning to Hoseok who was slipping his jacket on. He leaned in to give you a tight, thankful hug that allowed you to smell his intoxicating aftershave. You swooned silently to yourself, hugging him back.
“Thank you so much, Y/N! The pizzas on the way, I already put the tip in. I will be back by 8 at the latest!”
“Take your time, I love hanging out with Yeona.” you reassured him.
He shot you an appreciative smile before leaning down and kissing Yeona on the cheek, then absentmindedly doing the same to you before rushing out the door. You stood frozen in place, staring at the closed door Hoseok had just exited from, shell shocked until Yeona tugged at your tights, forcing you to avert your attention to her and not your racing heart.
“Y/N, come play.”
“Oh! Right. I got you a present,” you dug into your purse and pulled out the shimmery bow, clipping it into her hair.
“Jojo!” she shrieked excitedly.
You giggled and followed along as she tugged you towards the mirror, surveying her new bow and twirling around like the diva she was.
“I look like a princess!” she said in awe, her eyes shining.
“You are a princess!”
Her chubby little cheeks tinged pink with glee and she pulled you into her room, deciding she wanted to play dress-up with her princess dresses and find the one that matched the bow the most. Mickey lay on her bed, looking up at you with curiosity and wagging his tail. You sat beside him and gently stroked his head, causing him to nuzzle into your touch.
You watched with amusement as Yeona tore apart her closet to find the best dress to go with her new bow, absentmindedly picking up the used dresses and hanging them back up for her. If she drug out her toys though, you’d make her pick those up. But she was just having so much fun you didn’t want to interrupt, and the clutter bothered you so you picked it up in between your choruses of “ooh I like that one” and “you look so pretty!”
The doorbell rang, causing Mickey to let out a protective bark and you soothed his fur down before standing to open the door. The man on the other side greeted you warmly, asking you to sign the receipt for the pizza, which you did, before wishing him a good night. You drooled a bit, smelling your favorite toppings that Hoseok had remembered to order.
“Yeona! Dinners here!” you called, grabbing two plates and setting the table.
Yeona came skipping into the kitchen, and you helped her climb into the booster seat on her favorite chair before placing a bib on her so she didn’t ruin her dress. You cut the pizza slice into more manageable pieces for Yeona to eat before sliding into your own chair, biting into the heavenly food. You groaned happily and Yeona giggled, eating hers with her little cartoon character utensils.
Putting the leftovers in the fridge to ensure Hoseok had a snack later, knowing he didn’t eat before rushing off to work, you continued to play with Yeona for about an hour or two before she started yawning and you checked the clock, realizing it was almost bedtime. You helped her clean up the toys and mess you’d both made before pulling out some pajamas for her and assisting her with brushing her teeth.
You tucked her into bed and she pulled on your sleeve, looking up at you with the sweetest puppy eyes you’d ever seen.
“Are you going to read me a story like daddy does?”
“I can! What do you want to read?”
“If you give a mouse a cookie!”
You grinned and grabbed the book off the shelf, leaning against the headboard next to Yeona and began reading.
“If a hungry little mouse shows up on your doorstep, you might want to give him a cookie. And if you give him a cookie, he'll ask for a glass of milk. He'll want to look in a mirror to make sure he doesn't have a milk mustache, and then he'll ask for a pair of scissors to give himself a trim…”
About halfway through the book, Yeona’s eyes started drifting closed, but her little hand reached out to hold onto your free one, and you looked down at her, setting the book down in your lap.
“I love you, Y/N,” Yeona mumbled, snuggling closer to the warmth of your body.
“I love you too, sweet girl,” you cooed, smoothing her hair out of her face with a tender touch.
“Wish you were my mommy.” she sighed, barely awake.
You didn’t move, didn’t breathe. You didn’t know how to respond, but thankfully she didn’t seem to be looking for one, her eyelids fluttering shut before you heard her soft, even breathing.
“Baby girl, I would never leave you behind if I were,” you whispered, knowing she couldn’t hear as you continued to stroke her hair, “I would take care of you, my love. I wish I was your mommy too.”
You watched her sleep for a little while longer, her precious face looking so peaceful and pure. You wondered how anyone could ever walk away from such a beautiful little girl. Stroking her hair one last time, you stood and placed the book back on the shelf, exiting the room with Mickey on your heels and slowly shutting the door.
You let him outside to use the bathroom and gave him a treat before settling into the couch with him in your lap, petting him absentmindedly as your thoughts raced with the events of the night. How Yeona had been so cute dressing up, had been so entertaining with the little tea party you’d both held, how she’d told you she wished you were her mom… How Hoseok had kissed your cheek, clearly not thinking about it, and doing it out of habit, but how it had sent your heart lurching out of your chest. Just as the thought of Hoseok had crossed your mind, the door opened and Hoseok rushed inside, quietly but profusely apologizing for being late.
“I am so sorry, the function ran over and I was on the cleanup crew so I couldn’t leave.” Hobi whisper-shouted.
“It’s fine, I had fun, I barely realized what time it was. Yeona’s asleep.”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you.” Hoseok gushed, reaching into his pocket to pull out his wallet and hold out some bills for you to take.
You looked up at him with one eyebrow arched, a sassy look on your face, and that had him putting the money away.
“Are you sure? I can pay you, I know you probably had other plans, it is Friday night after all.”
“Hobi, there is nowhere I would rather be, no matter what day of the week it is.” you smiled.
“You’re a god-send.” he groaned.
“It’s late, I should get going.” you smiled, seeing how exhausted he was and wanting to get out of his hair.
“Nooo, it’s too late for you to drive home alone. What if you fall asleep at the wheel? You should just stay. You can take my room, I’ll sleep on the couch.”
“I’m not going to kick you out of your room. I can take the couch.”
“Are you thirsty? Want some wine?” he offered, walking backwards towards the kitchen.
“Sure.”
Hoseok grabbed two glasses of wine and the bottle, setting the objects on the coffee table in front of you and easing himself into the seat beside you, and you both sipped on the dark red liquid as you talked.
“I really am so thankful for your help tonight, all your help with Yeona. It’s not easy doing everything on my own. I know I have my parents and the guys, but sometimes I wonder if I’m giving her the best life or if I’m holding her back from having a happy family,” he sighed.
“Hobi, that little girl adores you, there is no one she’d rather have as her father.”
“I know, but is that what’s best for her? Doesn’t she need a mom?”
“She needs people who love her and support her, and she has that,” you comfort, rubbing his back soothingly, “she has you, the guys, her grandparents, me…”
“You’re right, thank you. I just get insecure sometimes, thinking she deserves better than… well, me.”
“Hobi, you’re an amazing dad! You’re so good with her, you’re raising her so well. She’s sweet and smart and well-behaved. She is so loved and it shows, because she displays love. You are a wonderful father, and you are more than enough.”
“Thank you, really. You always know just what to say. I’m so glad I met you, you’ve been so good to Yeona and I.” he smiled.
“I’m glad I met you too, you two are so important to me! I couldn’t imagine a life without you both in it.”
“...really?”
“Of course!” you immediately replied with conviction, holding onto Hoseok’s hand without realizing it.
Hands still in yours, Hoseok’s gaze lifted to meet your own, and you didn’t shy away like you’d immediately wanted to, wanting to both comfort him, and also look into his beautiful eyes for a moment more. You couldn’t believe Hoseok was insecure about his abilities to raise Yeona, he was the best father you’d ever seen, one of the million things you’d come to love about him. His eyes flickered from yours to your lips momentarily, and he slowly leaned closer to your now-shivering frame.
“Tell me to stop, and I will. Tell me you don’t want this, and I’ll back off,” he whispered as he closed the gap between your lips.
You didn’t say anything, instead opting to close the remaining distance yourself, pressing your lips to his in a sweet, chaste kiss. Hobi scooted closer to you, wrapping his arms around your waist and bringing you against his body, your arms coming up to wrap around his neck. The kiss was sweet and tentative at first but quickly lit a fire inside your core, and somehow, you found yourself straddling his lap, grinding your core down on his semi-hard erection.
“Fuck, Y/N…” he groaned, moving his kisses down to your neck, muttering into your skin, “I’ve wanted this for so long.”
“Me too.” you admitted through breathless exhales, working your hips against his while he worked his lips against your skin.
You slipped your fingers under his shirt, feeling his stomach up to his nipples, grazing your nails gently across the buds, causing his body to jerk towards you. You smirked to yourself, lifting the shirt which he aided you in removing. Your mouth watered at the sight of his smooth, tan skin. You gently nudged him backwards until his head rested on the arm of the couch, and kissed your way down his torso until you reached the hem of his jeans.
Hoseok’s breath hitched as you undid his belt, looking up at him to make sure it was okay and he grinned at you, running his hand through your hair to gather it into a makeshift ponytail. You took that as an okay and slid his jeans and boxers down just enough to reveal his throbbing length, precum, leaking from the tip. You licked along the slit, gathering the precum on your tongue and swallowing, making a pleased noise in the back of your throat.
Hoseok shivered, biting down on his lip and watching you lick a bold stripe along the underside, your hand reaching to cup his balls while you sunk down on his length, hollowing your cheeks around his throbbing member. Hoseok gripped your hair a little tighter in an attempt not to buck up into your mouth. You took him as deep as you could, letting the tip hit the back of your throat as you sucked him for dear life.
“Fuck, I’m not gonna last long if you keep doing that,” he moaned helplessly, his grip on your hair loosening.
In response, you simply bobbed your head up and down faster, sucking harder on his length, using every trick you had to get him to his orgasm. Hoseok groaned, probably a little too loudly, before tapping the side of your cheek to warn you, but you didn’t pull away. Hoseok groaned, his back arching off the couch as he spilled his seed down your throat and you swallowed it all, licking your lips once you’d pulled off of his softening cock.
“Holy shit,” he breathed.
You giggled and leaned up to peck his lips, which he returned with fervor, licking along your bottom lip and deepening the kiss, pulling you closer , letting your hips settle atop his while his mouth worked against your own.
“I really want to be inside you,” he groaned.
“Fuck me, Hobi,” you pleaded, grinding yourself on his length, and you felt it stir to life once more.
“Need to prep you.”
“No, I’m so fucking wet for you, I’m ready,” you groaned, lifting yourself off of him to shed your panties from under your skirt, bunching it up around your hips and lining your entrance with his now-erect penis.
“Are you sure?”
You nodded, sinking down on his member and groaning at the way he stretched your walls, the slight burn being aided by the amount of arousal that had pooled in your cunt, allowing his length to slip into your inviting heat with minimal resistance. Hoseok bit down on his arm, holding in a moan at the feeling of your wet cavern wrapped around his cock so perfectly.
Hoseok’s hands came to rest on your hips, guiding your pace as you bounced on his cock, riding him with enthusiasm, your walls clenching around him each time the tip of his cock kissed that special spot inside you. Hoseok lifted his hips to meet yours, keeping time with your thrusts and you bit down on your lip to hold in a moan.
“Fuck, you feel even better than I imagined.”
“You thought about this?” you wondered, swiveling your hips down on him.
“Every night since I met you,” he admitted.
“Fuck, Hobi. Me too. Want you so bad,” you whimpered.
“Yeah? You want Daddy to fill you up? Want me to fill this pretty pussy with my seed? Fuck a baby into you?” he growled and you clenched at the words.
“Yes, fuck.”
“Mmm, you like that? Wanna be filled with Daddy’s cum? Wanna see it drip out of that tight little pussy.” he groaned, speeding up his thrusts.
“Hobi, yes,” you whined, his dirty words spurring you closer to your release, “close.”
“Me too, baby. Come on, cum for me,” he urged, leaning up to bring one of your nipples in his mouth.
Your orgasm crashed over you the moment his tongue ran over the sensitive bud. You held your breath to keep from crying out as Hoseok worked you through your high, reaching his before you had finished yours, the feeling of his warm seed filling your battered hole making your orgasm even more intense.
Coming down from your highs, you lifted your hips to allow his length to slip out of you, watching as his cum dripped out of your sex, running down your leg and his. Hoseok groaned at the sight, pulling you into his chest. You snuggled up to him for a moment before you both got up to clean up, him assisting you by gently running a damp rag along your folds and you running it along his leg to clean up the mess you’d both made.
You pulled your clothes back on and Hoseok grabbed your hand, leading you to his bedroom and offering you a t-shirt to sleep in. You weren’t sure he would want you to stay, but you were thankful he did. And not on the couch. After changing into Hobi’s clothes and cuddling up to him, his arm wrapped around your middle, you felt at ease. Hobi was the first to break the silence.
“Please tell me this means you’ll be mine,” he whispered against the skin of your neck while placing little kisses along the skin there.
“I’ll be yours if you’ll be mine,” you answered, leaning down to capture his lips with yours.
One year later
Pushing the key in the lock of your brand new house, you opened the door and looked around the foyer, and heard little footsteps running through the hall, a sweet giggle echoing.
“Mommy! You’re home!” Yeona grinned, launching herself into your arms, and you spun her around, holding her close to your chest.
“I’m home, baby girl. How was your day?”
“It was good! I missed you though, you and my baby sister!” she grinned, her tiny, chubby hand caressing your plump belly.
“We missed you too, pumpkin. Where’s Daddy?”
“He’s in his office, he’s been boring today, but he did take a break to play with me. He doesn’t play dress up like you do, you’re more fun,” she whined, clutching at your neck.
“Hmmm, how about we play a little before dinner then?”
She squealed excitedly, wiggling out of your grasp and running to her room. You followed behind her, leaning up against Hoseok’s office door on the way.
“Hey, handsome.”
Hoseok looked up, immediately standing and walking up to you, his hand gently caressing your baby bump while he pressed his lips to yours.
“Welcome home, baby. And baby,” he grinned.
You rolled your eyes with a smile on your face, pecking his cheek.
“Yeona says you’re boring and don’t play dress up the right way,” you smirked, mocking him.
Hoseok groaned, throwing his arm over his eyes dramatically before his smile reached his eyes as he softly said, “Well, it’s a good thing we have you.”

Life was good. As good as it had ever been in all the time Chuckles could remember.
There was a comfort that came with falling into a routine. Chuckles would drop the kids off at school in the mornings, go to work in the mine, and then return in the evening to walk Arni and Nita home from school. Sometimes they’d stop by Grinz’s to stock up, sometimes Helly, Anj, and occasionally Lu would come over for dinner, and sometimes it would be just the three of them before the kids would go to bed.
Then, Chuckles would head to Endi’s apartment.
Those visits varied in how they started, but always ended the same: with Chuckles fucking Endi like it was what he’d looked forward to all day. Everything still felt so new and exciting, and the two of them could hardly keep their hands off one another. They did their best to fit some casual conversation in, asking one another about their day and talking about mundane things like the weather, allowing the tension to grow and blossom until it snapped.
Tonight, Endi had invited Chuckles over under the pretense of sharing a pie she’d baked that day after school. He’d appeared on her doorstep in the dark, and she’d answered the door in a short, satiny robe that didn’t appear to have anything underneath. Chuckles had waited patiently, sitting across from her in her kitchen as she set a plate in front of him, carefully placing a dollop of fresh cream on the flaky crust. He’d eaten slowly as she watched and made idle conversation, never breaking eye contact as he licked his fork clean.
As soon as the last crumb had disappeared and the plates had been cleared away, Chuckles had grabbed Endi with a playful growl and pulled her robe open, confirming his suspicions that she was wearing nothing underneath. She’d giggled breathlessly and he’d groaned as his hands squeezed her breasts, his lips finding the curve of her shoulder and sucking a bruise into her skin before he bent her over the table and buried himself inside of her in one stroke. The table creaked underneath them as he set a frantic pace, the legs scraping against the hard floor until the tabletop was bumping against the wall with every snap of Chuckles’s hips. He stared down at where they were joined and smirked.
“Fuck, your pussy’s creamy tonight, Endoline,” he growled, admiring the white coating her cunt was leaving on his shaft between strokes. “Could have dipped my fingers in you and topped my pie with this instead.” His cock glistened in the kitchen light as he withdrew for a moment before slamming back into her with an echoing slap that drew a moan from her. “You think about me today, sweetheart?”
“All… all day,” she stuttered out.
“Did you touch yourself?”
“N-no. Wanted t-to wait for you.”
He leaned over her, caging her in as he planted his palms on either side of her on the tabletop. Some sweat trickled down the tip of his nose, dripping onto the skin between her shoulder blades. Chuckles ran his tongue along her spine, swiping away the moisture as he tasted the salt of her sweat-slicked skin.
“Good girl,” he rasped. “Was it worth the wait?”
She shuddered underneath him. “Gods above, yes.”
Chuckles grinned as he gripped her hips and readjusted his angle, easily finding the place inside of her that he’d become well-acquainted with over the last month and a half, and within moments, he had her coming undone beneath him. Endi collapsed on the table as he finished inside of her, barely managing to brace his palms against the wooden surface again as his cock slipped from her. Some of his spend dribbled back out from between the swollen lips of her cunt, spattering on the floor.
“Looks… looks like we made a mess,” Endi panted with a dopey grin on her face, turning her head to meet his gaze over her shoulder.
Chuckles huffed a laugh before leaning down to press a kiss to her temple.
“Well then we’d better get ourselves cleaned up, huh?”
He wiped the evidence of their activities off of the floor quickly before scooping Endi into his arms and carrying her to her small refresher. It was only slightly larger than the one on the Starlight, but it did have a decent-sized bathtub pushed into one corner, which Chuckles filled with hot water before helping Endi in. Stripping off his clothes, he stepped in behind her, settling down and pulling her back against his chest. He pressed his hands to her stomach under the water, pulling her close and inhaling deeply into her hair.
“Missed you today,” he whispered.
This had become part of his routine too, and he enjoyed it almost as much as the sex. Almost.
“You just saw me last night,” she teased, reaching for a hair tie and starting to pile her hair on top of her head.
“Let me,” Chuckles said, taking the thin band from her hand. Gently, he gathered her dark curls, combing through them carefully with his fingers until he had managed to smooth out the bumps and ridges in her hair.
“You’ve been practicing,” she hummed.
“What do you mean been practicing?” Chuckles giggled. “This is the practice. You’re far more patient than Nita will ever be. But I’ve at least gotten alright at doing buns.”
“Are they even when you do two of them?”
“Still working on that,” he muttered, and Endi laughed in response.
“You’ll get it.”
“And until then, I have Arni.”
Chuckles tied her hair up before leaning forward to kiss the back of her neck, squeezing her tightly again. Endi leaned back against him, sinking lower into the water so she could rest her head against his shoulder. She took his hand between hers, rubbing at some of the dust and grime that had settled into his callouses from the mine.
“Something’s bothering you,” she noted quietly.
Chuckles sighed. A lot of things were bothering him, but he wasn’t certain how many he wanted to burden her with. Everything had been easy so far, with the two of them still figuring one another out and how they fit together. There’d be time to talk about all of the secrets he kept locked away and the deeper topics, but at least for now, there seemed to be an unspoken agreement to just have fun with one another. He picked through his long list of concerns, choosing a more trivial one to reveal.
“Nita’s birthday is next week,” he sighed.
“And you’ve got it all planned well in advance,” Endi countered. “You’ve met all of her demands, and I think she’s going to be terribly excited to get her own bed.”
After some debate, Chuckles had decided to reveal the decorated and furnished cargo hold to the younglings for Nita’s birthday. The deliveries had lined up almost perfectly with the date, and as long as Grinz could track down some bedding this week, everything would be in order. He knew the little Pantoran was going to love it, on top of all of the other gifts she was getting. A surprise would have been impossible; Nita had practically been counting the days since Arni’s birthday party, and she had very specific expectations for her own celebration. Luckily, none of them had been too far-fetched, and the only one Chuckles had said ‘no’ to was a pet tooka. Nita had been disappointed, but that had been short-lived as she’d moved on to planning the types of snacks she’d wanted, and Grinz had promised to deliver on every item. Endi had even promised to make the cream puffs Nita has become enamored with in the last few months, which may have been the real achievement that overshadowed the tooka debacle.
“You’re right,” he murmured. “As always.” He gripped her hand, pulling it to his lips and brushing a kiss over her knuckles.
“Are you nervous about telling them about us then?”
They still hadn’t disclosed their relationship to Arni and Nita, but Chuckles knew the time for that discussion was fast approaching. Arni was starting to question where he went at night, and had even caught him sneaking home once just before dawn. They hadn’t directly asked him about it, but he didn’t want to feel like he was lying to them. He and Endi had talked about the right time to tell them, and they’d decided to do it after Nita’s birthday so as not to take away from the day. Deep down, Chuckles had also wanted to wait until after just in case the kids didn’t take it well. There was no reason to think they wouldn’t; by all accounts, they enjoyed school and liked their teacher. But he still couldn’t shake off all the nerves.
“Not as nervous as I was, but not completely settled,” he admitted.
“So what’s got you wound so tightly?” Endi asked, switching to his other hand and massaging his joints with her thumbs. “You feel as though you’ve got something on your mind.”
A twinge of guilt twisted his gut.
Am I ruining my time with her?
He rested his chin on top of her head. “I’m sorry if I’ve been distracted.”
“You don’t need to apologize. Or talk about it if you don’t want to. I just want to be supportive if I can.”
Chuckles flushed with heat that made the water feel cool. Slipping his finger under her chin, he gently tilted her head towards him, raising her lips to his and pecking them lightly.
“What did I do to deserve you?”
“You’re deflecting with flattery.”
“You’re not supposed to notice that.”
“Chuckles.”
He sighed, unsure of how to broach the topic. As well as things were going, he still wasn’t ready to tell Endi everything. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust her, it just didn’t feel like the right time yet. He wanted to wait until he was more certain of how she’d react. Finding out you were sleeping with a traitor to the Empire who happened to be harboring two Jedi youngling fugitives wasn’t exactly something that could be taken lightly. In fact, chances were good it would completely upend her life.
The time would come where he’d be ready to tell her, he was sure of it. He felt that he owed her that honesty if things got serious enough, to the point where they were building a life together. He’d told Ry and Oks after all. But that was definitely a discussion for another day, even if that secret was connected to what was bothering him right now.
“The one year anniversary of the end of the war is coming up,” he said quietly, choosing his words carefully. There had been rumors that the Imperials were planning a galaxy-wide holiday to commemorate the day, and the thought of celebrating at all turned Chuckles’s stomach. He couldn’t even begin to imagine how the kids felt about it.
Endi nodded, seemingly choosing her words cautiously as well. “I imagine that was quite a day for you, even being discharged.”
You have no idea.
“It was,” he agreed. “There’s…a lot of memories there. And for the kids, it’ll be a reminder of them losing their family.”
“And them gaining a new one in you,” Endi said softly. “Maybe you choose to celebrate that rather than dwell on the bad memories. Celebrate the brothers that you lost and all they fought for. And celebrate your family coming together.”
Chuckles mulled through it in his mind. It was an approach he hadn’t considered. “That’s not a half-bad idea,” he said. “I think the kids will like that.” He kissed her again, deeper this time, and he felt her quiver slightly as he pulled her close. “Thank you,” he mumbled against her lips.
“That’s what partners are for,” she replied.
“Is that what we are?”
She raised an eyebrow at him. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but you’re my only suitor.”
“Not the only suitor,” he countered. “There are plenty in this town that make eyes at you, whether or not you know it. And I can’t say that I blame them.”
She rolled her eyes. “Fine, then you’re the only suitor I’m interested in. And the only one I’ve shared a bed with.” She turned, straddling his lap, and he felt his cock brush her core. His hands rested on her hips as he hardened underneath her. The water lapped at the sides of the tub, disturbed from the rocking of Endi’s hips as she rubbed against his length. “You’re the only suitor that’s ever been in this tub with me, and you’re the only one I’m asking to fuck me.”
“Are you asking, Endoline?” The head of his cock caught at her entrance, and he held her still, gently flexing his hips so that the tip breached her cunt just enough to make her mouth fall open.
“Please,” she whined. “Please take me again.”
He pulled her down onto him, spearing her on his length. Some of the water splashed over the edge of the tub, and she tipped her head back with a moan.
“We’re going to make another mess,” she teased breathlessly.
He leaned forward, cradling her ass as his tongue flicked against her nipple, sending another rippling shudder through her.
“Good.”
—
“It’s PERFECT!”
Chuckles released a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding as Nita squealed with delight, her golden eyes sparkling as she took in the party decorations. He, Endi, Anj, Helly, and Lu had gotten up incredibly early to decorate the outside of the Starlight and set up for Nita’s birthday celebration. While Chuck and Lu had strung streamers and decorations from the side of the ship, creating a sort of outdoor canopy, Endi had put the finishing touches on the baked goods she’d pulled together the night before. At the same time, Helly and Anj had snuck down to the hold to put the finishing touches on the younglings’ new bedroom. They’d managed to sneak back up to the kitchenette and brew some caf just before Nita came marching in, clearly ready to face the day. She was so excited, they’d immediately taken her outside for an inspection, which she conducted thoroughly before clapping her hands excitedly, dancing around in the dirt and giggling.
She hadn’t wanted anything large in terms of attendance; just a few of her friends from school, Arni, and the sleepy adults that were now sipping caf with relieved smiles. Nita ran to each of them, hugging them hard and shouting her thanks. She slammed into Lu with such a force that she almost knocked the mug of caf from his hand, but he recovered, giving her one of his rare, quiet smiles.
“Not a bad decorations job for a demolitions expert,” Chuckles joked, nudging Lu with a shoulder.
Lu smiled quietly, shrugging his shoulders as Nita released him. Anj was more prepared for Nita’s embrace, squatting down and bracing herself as the little Pantoran flew into her arms.
“Glad you like it, Little Star,” she chuckled, tousling Nita’s silver curls. “Now let’s go get Hells to braid your hair the way you like before everyone gets here.”
Helly had been experimenting with different styles for Nita’s hair, and the little Pantoran seemed to love sitting while Helly’s nimble and gentle fingers wove intricate braids and patterns into her silver tresses. Today, Helly had brought some fresh flowers to weave into the braids, and Nita sat on a stool, swinging her legs as Helly worked. Arni was watching carefully, asking questions so they could try to recreate it later. Chuckles leaned against the wall, smiling into his cup as he watched his family.
Settled. Finally.
A warm hand pressed against the small of his back.
“Want a top off?” Endi asked quietly.
Chuckles offered her his cup, and she emptied the rest of the caf press into it. “Thanks,” he whispered.
“You did great pulling this together,” she said softly.
“Couldn’t have done it without you all,” he replied. “And now, I might have a real bed to sleep in tonight for the first time in a year.”
“That reminds me. I’ve got something for you.”
Chuckles raised an inquisitive eyebrow, but Endi beckoned him back to the kitchenette. He followed, setting his mug on the small countertop. Endi crouched down, digging in her bag until she pulled out a parcel that was wrapped with ribbons. She handed it to him with a small smile.
“For you.”
“It’s not my birthday.”
She shrugged, and he smirked before opening it. Inside, there were two sets of sheets, and when he ran his thumb over the fabric, Chuckles knew it would be the softest thing he’d ever slept on. One set was a dark red and one a light blue, and he glanced up at her. She ducked her head shyly.
“Consider it a housewarming gift. Well, I guess a bedwarming…” her voice drifted off, and she flushed as she realized what she’d said.
Chuck glanced out the door for a moment, confirming no one was paying attention before he closed the distance between them, pinning her against the table she was leaning against. His knuckle slipped under her chin, and he grinned as the purple flush in her cheeks grew deeper, highlighting her freckles.
“I’ve got a better idea of how you can warm my bed, Endoline. Not that I don’t appreciate the sheets.”
“Chuckles,” she gasped, her voice hitching slightly as he nuzzled against her throat.
“I may save these until the first time you sleep over, so we can break them in together,” he rasped into her ear, her curls tickling his nose. He felt her shudder as his hand slid around the back of her neck. He pressed his lips against her pulsepoint and felt it hammering. He grinned.
“Endoline, I-”
“Nita’s asking if you’re ready to go outside and play games.”
Endi and Chuckles flew apart. Endi turned her back, straightening her clothes and smoothing her hair, trying to hide her face. Chuckles met Arni’s gaze, trying to ignore the heat in his cheeks as he hurriedly wiped his mouth. The young Twi’lek’s gaze flicked between the two of them, and they ducked their head.
“Yeah. That’s great. We’ll be right there, kid,” Chuck managed, suddenly feeling winded.
Arni nodded, turning and hurriedly making their exit. Chuckles could hear everyone else exiting the ship, and when the noise faded with their departure, he turned and met Endi’s eyes. The two of them burst into nervous giggles at the same time, Chuckles rubbing his neck as Endi covered her face to muffle her laughter.
“I think it’s safe to say we’ve been found out,” she said, her voice muffled behind her hands.
Chuckles smiled, pulling her hands from her flushed face and resting his forehead against hers.
“If anyone was going to figure it out, it was going to be Arni anyway.” He sighed, letting out a nervous giggle of his own. “Seems like it might be time to let them both in on the secret.”
Her golden eyes searched his. “Are you alright with that?”
“Yeah,” he said quickly. He brought her hands up to his lips, kissing her knuckles. “No more hiding?”
“No more hiding,” she agreed. “But let’s wait until after the party. I don’t want anything to take away from Nita’s day.”
Chuckles grinned, but something about the way Arni had looked at the two of them was nagging at him. He buried it quickly, taking Endi’s hand and leading her outside.
—
The party went off without a hitch. By the end of it, Chuckles was almost worried Nita wouldn’t stay awake long enough to see the new bedroom. Her eyelids were drooping as she bid her guests farewell, but she wore a satisfied smile. His heart warmed as she made the rounds again to thank everyone that had helped set things up, and he could see her confusion when they didn’t leave along with her friends.
“Better move fast or she won’t be awake to appreciate it,” Anj teased him with a nudge.
“You’re right,” he agreed. He roared playfully, scooping Nita into his arms, and she squealed with surprise, breaking into a fit of giggles.
“Can’t go to sleep yet, Honey. We’ve got one more surprise for you. Arni too.”
The Twi’lek paused mid-bite of a creampuff, eyes widening in curiosity.
“Come on,” Chuck said, reaching an arm out for them. “Let’s go show you before little one nods off.” Arni slipped under his arm, and the three of them headed back into the ship, followed by Lu, Anj, Helly, and Endi.
Chuckles felt Nita stiffen when she figured out where they were going.
“That place is scary, Chuckles,” she murmured.
“It’s not as scary anymore,” he replied, keying the unlock code to the door. “Chased out all the ghosts with Anj.”
“You promise?”
He offered her his pinky, and she took it, interlocking it with hers. Chuckles set her on the floor, and he could see her steeling herself as the door hissed open. He nudged her inside, pulling Arni in behind them before slapping on the lights.
All of Nita and Arni’s nerves evaporated, immediately replaced with wonder as the glass decorations glinted in the light cast by the strings that were woven back and forth over the ceiling of the hold. Nita ran to the edge of the railing, looking down into the new bedroom. Two bed were pushed against the opposite walls with their own sets of sheets and pillows. The middle had a large rug, already covered with the gifts Nita had received at her party. Lu and Helly had quietly whisked them away and set them up while Nita was distracted.
It was apparent which side was meant for which youngling. One had a small desk with Arni’s colored pencils, journals, and datapad neatly placed on its surface. On the shelves above their bed sat several specimens Helly had donated after noting Arni’s interest in them. The stone Endi had given them was placed on the nightstand next to the bed. Nita’s side was decorated with flowers and stars that hung over her bed in an array. A small cupboard that Lu had built sat against the wall, the inside stocked with some of her favorite snacks. Her trooper doll laid against the pillow. Lu had also built matching sets of drawers, which contained the sets of clothing that they’d accrued during their time together. Chuckles had worried that the large space would seem sparse, but the sheer joy on the two younglings’ faces put his face at ease. He owed more favors than he could count and would be paying Grinz back through odd jobs for a while, but it was all worth it.
“Is… is this ours?” Arni asked hesitantly.
“All yours,” Chuckles confirmed. “Room for you two to grow into. And no one will be elbowing anyone else or leaving crumbs in the other’s sleeping space.”
Arni’s arms were around him in an instant, their face buried in his chest as they hugged him hard. Nita wrapped herself around his right leg, stepping on his toes in the process, but he couldn’t be bothered to care as he hugged them both back.
“Anj, Helly, Lu, and Endi all helped with this. Grinz too,” he said. “Couldn’t have done it without them.”
The two younglings immediately flew to the other adults, thanking them and hugging them. Chuckles watched Arni and noted they were a little stiff when they hugged Endi.
Probably just because they caught us earlier. Maybe telling them both will ease that tension so Arni doesn’t feel like they need to keep it a secret.
“Well, let’s not all stand here gawking. Let’s go get your stuff out of the old bed so you can put it in your new room!” Anj crowed, and the two younglings were off like a shot, squealing as they raced back down the hallway.
They spent the next hour moving the children into their new room, Anj and Lu helping while Helly and Endi put things away and Chuck showed them all the new items with pride. The adrenaline was short-lived for Nita, and Chuck could see her eyeing her new bed. The other adults took their cue, bidding the kids one last good night before filing out. Chuckles caught Endi’s eye from across the room, and she nodded, giving him a wink.
Now’s as good a time as any I suppose.
Chuckles waited until it was just him, Endi, and the younglings. He could see Arni glance between the two of them nervously. Nita was too busy cataloging her snacks to notice anything out of the ordinary.
Chuckles cleared his throat.
“I… I’ve got something I’d like to tell the two of you, if that’s alright.”
Nita turned to look at him, her hand already in a bag of Cinnamon Poppers. Arni straightened.
“I know at least one of you has already pieced this together, but I wanted to be upfront about it. Now that it… well, it seems to be going well.” He was suddenly nervous, and Endi came to his side. Her presence calmed him, and he felt her hand on his back again. He wet his lips and continued. “You two are my family, and it’s important to me that we’re honest with each other about things, so I want you to know if there’s another person that’s important to me.” He let his hand slide down and find Endi’s as he turned to meet her gaze. “And in the last few months, Teacher Endi has become pretty important to me. We’ve been spending some time together, and I’d like to spend more with her around the two of you. If that’s alright.”
Nita’s eyes were wide as she chewed her snacks. Arni was still watching the two of them carefully.
“Are you in love?” Nita finally asked.
Chuck’s face felt hot as he fumbled for words. “I… we… well…”
“Your father and I are still figuring out how we feel about one another,” Endi cut in. “It’s still early, but we care very much for one another. I like him quite a bit.”
Chuckles shot her a grateful look, and she winked at him, squeezing his hand gently in reassurance.
He turned to face the younglings, his family. His palms were sweating. “So?”
Nita stared for a moment before breaking into a fit of excited giggles. She ran forward, hugging Endi tightly around the waist. Endi didn’t hesitate for a moment, hugging her back. Chuck turned to Arni. When they saw him looking at them, they hurriedly stepped forward and hugged Endi as well, just as stiffly as earlier. Chuckles’s brow furrowed in concern.
If Endi noticed, she didn’t say anything. As the younglings shuffled off to get ready for bed, she turned to Chuckles.
“Thank you for a lovely time. And for this.”
“You’re not staying?”
She smiled, resting her hand against his cheek. “You’ve just dropped a lot on them. I think seeing me at breakfast would be rather jarring, don’t you?”
He huffed, resting his forehead against hers.
“You’re pretty smart, you know that?”
“It’s a requirement for the job,” she teased. Standing on her tiptoes, she kissed his cheek. “Good night, Chuckles.”
“Good night, Endoline.”
The two younglings returned as Endi slipped out the door, and Chuckles tucked them both in. Nita was asleep before her head could even warm the pillow, her trooper doll tucked under one arm. Chuckles waited until she was snoring to sit next to Arni on their bed. They had their light still on, their latest sketchbook balanced on their knees. As Chuckles sat down beside them, he caught a glimpse of Anj’s sharp teeth and Helly’s bright eyes, easily recognizable as Arni depicted them, carefully shading each of Anj’s tendrils.
“That from today?”
They nodded. “They seemed really happy. Like you and Endi.”
Chuckles scooted closer until their shoulders were touching. “I think they are. But that’s still a secret.”
Arni nodded again but didn’t say anything. Chuckles felt himself grow nervous again. “Are… are you happy about this kid? You seem like something’s on your mind.”
Their pencil paused on the page, and he could practically hear the gears turning in their head. “It was just… I didn’t expect it, I guess. And I don’t think I ever considered what it would be like if you had someone. Not th-that you can’t. I want you to be happy. I just never thought about what it would feel like.”
“How does it feel?”
They finally looked up at him. “Just… different. Something to get used to.”
There was something that they weren’t saying. Chuckles wasn’t sure if they just couldn’t articulate it correctly or if they didn’t want to, but either way, he knew better than to push. Arni would come around in time if they felt it was important enough to share. His heart fell slightly, his worries not really assuaged.
Endi was right to go home. The kid needs some time to adjust. Maybe we all do.
“Are you happy?”
Arni’s question surprised him, and when he looked at them again, their brown eyes were wide, expectant, watching him carefully.
“I am,” he replied. “And not just because of Endi. But she is a factor in that.”
Arni nodded, clearly turning the information over in their mind before reaching a conclusion.“Then I’m happy for you, Chuckles. You deserve to be happy.”
“Are you happy, Arni?”
They gave him a small smile. “Of course.”
The way they said it, as if it were a given, unsettled Chuckles slightly. It felt like they were satisfying an expectation rather than being honest, but the young Twi’lek had already turned back to their sketchbook, their pencil scraping across the drawing once more, clearly considering the matter settled.
The won’t want you to push. Something to keep an eye on. Another conversation for a different time.
Chuckles ruffled their lekku before pulling them into a hug. “G’night, kid. Don’t stay up too late.”
“Night,” they replied.
Chuckles shuffled up the stairs and to the bunk, unwrapping the light blue set of sheets. As he shook them out, he was immediately inundated with the familiar, gentle scent of vanilla and perfume. Bringing the sheets to his nose, he inhaled deeply, grinning into the fabric.
They smelled like her.
A scrap of flimsi fluttered to the floor from where it had been tucked into the folded sheet. He picked it up, his smile widening as he read the words.
When they stop smelling like me, let me know. I’ll come over and renew it so you don’t miss me.
- Endi
—-
The one year anniversary of the Republic’s fall, or Empire Day as it was apparently being called, approached faster than Chuckles could have anticipated. As predicted, the galaxy was preparing celebrations to mark the day. Many of the miners and their families were planning to head into the nearby capital city to observe the celebrations. Endi had tried to get Chuckles to go, thinking that the ceremonies and parades would give the children better memories, but when he’d still declined, she’d been understanding. He’d pushed her to go on her own, not wanting to weigh her down or make her feel like she had to stay behind because of him, and he was relieved when she finally relented.
“Just don’t let any of your other suitors charm you while you’re up there,” he teased in bed one night as they lay snuggled together. It was the third time she’d slept on the Starlight and the first night they’d had the ship to themselves, Arni and Nita being out stargazing and camping with one of their classmate’s family. Chuckles and Endi had taken full advantage of the quiet, and now lay curled around one another as the sheets stuck to their sweaty skin.
Endi pushed her curls out of her eyes to poke him in the ribs. “How many times do I have to assure you that you’re the only one I’m interested in?” she teased.
“Yeah, but I’m also the one being the downer about the celebration.”
“I told you already; I understand. Take care of Arni and Nita. We’ll have time when I get back.”
His chest had bloomed with warmth before he’d rolled Endi underneath him and taken her again.
How did I get so lucky?
He prayed to whatever deities were listening that luck would be on his side again today, the one year anniversary of his world and Arni and Nita’s being turned on its head. Chuckles was terrified of saying the wrong thing, of mentioning something that would rip old wounds open. The kids hadn’t said anything to him, but he had noted a slight stoop to Arni’s shoulders, as if the weight of the day had slowly grown as it approached. Nita still bubbled about, but there was something that seemed forced about it, as if keeping a smile on her face would keep everything else she was feeling at bay.
It would clearly be impossible to just pretend it was a normal day. The town was mostly empty, school canceled in observance of the “holiday”. Most of their friends had disappeared with their parents to the city to watch the parades. The mine was closed as well, and most of the miners had left to join the celebrations as well.
The kids woke, ate breakfast, and then went outside to play. Chuck felt as though he was going through the motions, showering, making caf, and settling into the seat to watch the kids out of the front viewport.
I can’t believe it’s been a year.
The younglings both looked as though they were putting up a good front for one another, but after all of their time together, Chuckles could easily see the weight on their shoulders. Nita’s smiles were half-hearted at best, and Arni seemed so weighed down, it looked like they might topple over at any moment. He thought about what Endi had said about how to frame the events surrounding that day. It wasn’t a bad idea, but he felt that he should save it for if things got dire, the eject handle if emotions ran high. He wasn’t certain how the two younglings marked the anniversary in their minds. He’d tried to remember how he’d thought of major changes as a cadet, but everything had been a milestone, another step towards becoming a soldier. Life on Kamino had been controlled, no days truly unpredictable.
Well, at least until a Jedi had shown up looking like a drowned tooka in his soaked robes and sopping hair, asking questions that had sent rumors rippling through the ranks.
But even then, it was noteworthy because of its strangeness, not due to anything traumatic. All of that would come during the war, but when the fighting started, every moment of note felt like one of grief.
Except for TP winning that homebrew contest in the barracks. Except for that time Crater told me he considered me his second in command. Except for when Howzer got promoted.
Except for when Brienna kissed me for the first time in the cockpit of my Headhunter.
He huffed into his caf.
More than enough bad, but plenty of good sprinkled in too.
He realized that was what had kept him going, the little bits of good in all of the bad. And he knew then that the conversation with Arni and Nita couldn’t wait.
That day was simultaneously terrible and great because I found them. And I need them to focus on the good rather than wallowing in the bad memories and letting them weight them down. We can grieve, but I also don’t want them to get stuck in it.
Like I did after I lost Crater and most of my squad.
Tipping the last dregs of his caf into his mouth, he went to place the empty cup in the kitchenette. When he turned, he found the two younglings trudging inside.
“What’s wrong?”
“Too cold,” Nita muttered. Arni was silent, clutching their journal.
“Alright, family meeting,” Chuckles declared, sitting at the small table. The two younglings stared at him for a moment before shuffling onto the bench across from him. Brown and golden eyes watched him expectantly. He could see the sadness there, and it made his heart clench and strengthened his determination to take some of their weight.
“I figure let’s talk about the bantha in the room. We’re all thinking it. And I don’t want us moping around all day because of it. Today’s hard.”
He internally cringed, feeling like he was a captain giving a pep talk to his ranks. That wasn’t how he wanted to do this. Leaning forward, he reached his hands across the table, palms up. It took a moment, but Nita and Arni both reached out and gripped his hands.
“It’s hard, remembering what happened to us a year ago. It was awful, and every day I wish I could take that burden from you two. But I want you to know that I’m also grateful for some things that happened that day.”
“Like what?” Nita asked.
“Well, I’m glad Arni didn’t stab me with their lightsaber,” he started, and a hint of a smile tugged at the young Twi’lek’s lips. “I’m glad you both trusted me enough to come with me. I’m glad my chip didn’t activate and I was able to get the two of you out.” He squeezed their hands. “But above all, I’m grateful that I survived long enough to find the two of you. That we became a family. That we chose a name and have survived together. We’ve made a life for ourselves.” His voice cracked unexpectedly. “I had a family, but I always wondered what it would look like after the war, if all of my brothers would go their separate ways and I’d be left alone. I’m glad I’m not. I’m glad I have the two of you.”
Nita sniffled, hopping off the bench and coming around to climb into Chuckles’s lap and throw her arms around his neck.
“There was so much scary stuff that day. And I’m glad you found us too. And that Arni didn’t kill you.”
Chuckles looked over the top of Nita’s head at Arni. They had tears running down their cheeks.
“Hey,” he said softly. “It’s ok to feel sad. Or angry.”
“It’s just… how can they celebrate?” Arni whispered. It was the angriest he’d ever heard them. “Our friends were killed. For nothing. The Empire is tearing down everything the Republic built. How can we celebrate that?”
“Come here, kid,” Chuckles said quietly, scooting to the end of the bench. Arni came around the table, close enough to where Chuckles could awkwardly get an arm around them as well. He touched his forehead to theirs and then Nita’s. “There’s a lot of bad, but I want today to be a day for us. So, we’re not celebrating the Empire, we’re celebrating the day we became a family. I think that’s worth commemorating. What do you think?”
Arni wrapped their arms around his chest, resting their head on his shoulder. “I think I’d like that.”
“How do we do that?” Nita asked.
“Well, we play games together. We eat good snacks. We talk about the good things that have happened as a family. Our favorite memories. And, if you feel like it, we talk about your friends and my brothers and keep their memories alive. Can we do that?”
“I’d like that,” Arni said, wiping at their cheeks.
“I’LL GET THE SNACKS!” Nita yelled, squirming out of Chuckles’s grip and sprinting off to retrieve her bags from her stash in their bedroom.
Arni leaned against Chuckles’s arm. “I’m glad you’re our family. I know people call you our dad, but how do you feel about that?”
Chuckles thought about it for a moment. It was something he’d been kicking around in his mind a lot as well. “I think that whatever feels right to you is what we can use. Whatever happens, you’re my kids, even if we don’t share any DNA. And that doesn’t have to be in a fatherly way if you don’t want it to be. I can be a weird uncle or just the guy that’s the oldest here. Whatever feels right.”
Arni nodded. “I don’t remember what it was like to have parents, not really. I came to the temple when I was really little.” They chewed their lip. “I don’t know if I’ll ever call you ‘dad’, but I think you do feel like one, if that makes sense.”
Chuckles smiled. “That works for me.”
Nita returned, tossing about five bags and boxes of snacks on the table.
“Ok, so what’s your favorite memory?” she demanded, scooting back onto the bench and reaching for the Spice Snappers.
Chuckles glanced at Arni, who thought for a second before breaking into a wide grin. “I’ve got a few, but one of them has to be when Nita beat you at hide and seek.”
The memory made Chuckles laugh out loud. When they’d been flying to Lothal, Nita had gotten bored and demanded they play hide and seek in the Starlight. Chuckles had felt confident, knowing there were only about three places in the ship that she could hide on her own.
Apparently, she’d found a fourth. In the ceiling panels.
Chuckles had been frantic, knowing there was no way she could have disappeared off a starship mid-hyperspace, and yet, she was nowhere to be found. He’d grabbed Arni by the shoulders, trying not to let his fear force him into yelling.
“Ok, so, there are only a handful of places she could be on this ship, and she’s in none of them. I know you know where she is. You have GOT TO TELL ME WHERE SHE IS, ARNI.”
A giggle had erupted from the ceiling, and Chuckles’s eyes had snapped up to a grate where two golden eyes were peering down at him.
“Kriff.”
“That’s a bad word,” she’d giggled. By the time they fished her out of the duct, she was covered in dust and cobwebs, but triumphant, declaring herself the galaxy’s greatest hider.
Chuck didn’t disagree.
That seemed so long ago, but Arni’s guffaws still rang fresh in his ears. Now, they were smiling and suppressing more giggles as they did an imitation of him.
“You have GOT TO TELL ME WHERE SHE IS, ARNI,” they mocked playfully.
“That’s a good memory,” Chuckles agreed. “But I don’t sound like that.”
“Yes you do,” Nita argued.
“Agree to disagree. Ok, what’s yours Nita?”
She pondered for a moment. “Swimming with you. And finding my crystal. I was glad you all were there. It made it feel more special.” She popped a snack into her mouth, which crunched loudly. “What about you?”
Chuckles smiled. “I’ve got a few. Picking a name. Seeing you guys have your birthdays and get older. The looks on your faces when you saw your new room. Watching you run after that tooka the first day we were here.” He paused, realizing he’d cataloged more memories than he initially thought.
Because they all feel special.
Because they’re your kids and you love them.
His throat felt tight suddenly, and he reached into the Spice Snapper bag, popping one into his mouth. Nita was gleeful, Arni looked concerned. Chuck felt the heat overwhelm him and let the tears that were already there leak out of his eyes.
“Woooo. Still hot. Thought I might have a tolerance for those.”
“Maybe if you eat more,” Nita offered.
Chuckles coughed hard, fanning his face. “Yeah. Maybe.”
—
After Empire Day, it felt as if things settled even more for Chuckles. Sure, Endi was a new component of his life that he was sharing with the kids, but they adapted quickly. Arni still seemed stiff around her, but they were polite and engaging, and he appreciated that. He still hoped that they’d come around, but he wasn’t going to push them.
It took them time to come around to you. They deserve that time to adjust to having her around.
The air chilled as the days shortened, and the weeks moved along at a steady pace, every day predictable to the point where any deviations from what was expected were noticeable, no matter how small. So when Chuckles arrived at the mine one afternoon, it was immediately apparent to him that someone was missing from their crew.
“Where’s Lu?”
In all the time Chuckles had worked at the mine, he’d never known the Nikto to be so much as a minute late. Having him be completely absent was nearly unthinkable.
Helly fidgeted nervously at her locker, as Anj replied stiffly. “Took today off. He’s uh… having some family issues.”
Chuckles nodded, pulling his gloves on. “That sounds…not good.”
Anj shrugged, but he could see the tension in her spine and an exhausted slump in her shoulders. It looked as though she hadn’t really slept. “Just needs some time to address it. Told him to take as long as he needs,” she said quietly. Finishing strapping the sensor on her ankle, she straightened, brushing off her coveralls and reaching into her locker for her tendril wrap, clearly considering the matter settled.
She seemed off. Helly seemed worried. Something was bothering them, and Chuckles couldn’t tell if he was just looking for problems or if there actually was one. In the weeks since Empire Day, things had chugged on quietly. Too quietly.
You’re just trying to find problems when there are none. You need to relax. The war is over, he tried to tell himself. But he still couldn’t fight that nagging feeling that something more was going on today.
The lift appeared inside the gate at the far end of the tunnel with a metallic shriek that made Chuckles wince slightly, the doors grinding open to release the previous shift. Chuckles spotted Teef among them, making notes on his datapad and chuckling at something the man next to him was saying. They stopped by the lockers, some chatting with Anj or Helly before moving on. Chuckles nodded at a few of them as they went by. He’d come to know some of the other miners in these brief interactions where they passed each other, but most days, they never had time for more than a quick exchange before he headed down and they headed home.
Anj slammed her locker shut, jogging to catch up with Teef to chat with him about something just as a heavy hand landed on Chuck’s shoulder. “Made sure to save the hard work for you,” a gruff voice snickered. Chuckles turned and grinned at the Devaronian that had appeared.
“Sounds like Teef is paying you too much, Gornar,” he replied with a grin.
The Devaronian tipped his head back and cackled loudly. “I’m sure he’d agree with you.” He squeezed Chuck’s shoulder. “Been a while since we’ve crossed paths. Kids good? The little one like her party?”
“She loved it, but not as much as the new room she got out of it. Both of them have spent every spare second down there decorating it with whatever they can find. Arni’s going to have one of every specimen down there before the year is out.”
Gornar chuckled. “I’m glad.” He leaned closer, glancing around before speaking quietly. “You’ve got some Imp inspectors down there today.”
“Inspectors? Didn’t think we were due for them for a while,” Chuckles noted with a raised eyebrow.
“We aren’t, but they’re here regardless. They don’t seem to be ones for humor either, so I’d stow the jokes and just keep your head down today.”
Chuckles feined offense. “Me? Joke? At work? Never.”
Gornar’s smile faded, his expression growing more stoic. “I’m serious, Chuck. Not sure what’s afoot, but they took a lot of notes in their little datapads. Just don’t get yourself on anyone’s shit list if you can help it.”
“No promises,” Chuckles grinned. “But thanks for the heads up. I shall endeavor to behave.”
The Devaronian appeared to find that acceptable, grinning with sharp teeth. “Good man. I’ve got to get going. Promised Zeex I’d cook tonight. Stay safe down there today.”
“Always,” Chuckles grinned, watching as the Devaronian jogged off, catching up with the rest of his crew as they made their way out of the shaft. Turning back to his locker, he reached for his helmet.
“Is… isn’t that Lu?” Helly said quietly from next to him.
Chuckles leaned out, and sure enough, he saw the Nikto walking towards them.
“It is.”
Lu had his head down, not meeting anyone’s gaze, but his pace was hurried. He wore a heavy coat that reached to his ankles, one Chuckles hadn’t seen before. It struck him as slightly odd since the week had been uncharacteristically warm.
“Thought you weren’t gonna join us today!” Chuckles called, thinking of Anj’s words and trying to make it sound light. Lu slowed, finally raising his head to meet Chuck’s gaze.
“Felt like I should be here,” he said evenly.
Chuckles stepped closer. “Anj said you’ve got some family stuff you’re dealing with. If you need to take time, we can handle it.” He rested his hand on Lu’s shoulder, and the Nikto flinched away.
Anj had paused her conversation with Teef and was looking over at them with a concerned expression.
“Lu?” she asked, her confusion evident.
Lu glanced at her but did nothing else to acknowledge her remark.
“I needed to be here,” he repeated quietly.
Chuckles nodded. “If work’ll help, I get that.” He knew as well as anyone that sometimes throwing yourself back into a task could help distract from worries or grief. “Glad to have you, then.”
Lu met his gaze again, and his eyes were sad, but something else was lurking in them that sent a shiver down Chuck’s spine. “You’re a lot of the good in the galaxy, Chuckles. You take care of people, even if you owe them nothin’. That’s hard to find nowadays.” His voice was odd, but Chuckles couldn’t pinpoint why. Lu reached out and patted him on the chest just above his breast pocket. It was strange, but everything about this encounter was, and Chuckles had no idea how to react.
“And Hells,” the Nikto continued, turning to the Rodian standing next to them,“if I could bottle your exuberance, I would. Don’t ever lose that, you know?”
Helly stared at him for a moment before nodding. “I won’t. Are you sure you’re alright, Lu?”
“Good. That’s good,” he replied, ignoring her question. Seemingly satisfied with the exchange, he dipped his head. “I’ll be seeing you.”
With that, he turned and strode off directly towards the lift, his pace somehow faster now, more determined. Chuckles watched him warily. There was something about his tone of voice that was irregular for the Nikto, yet oddly familiar, something that caused the hairs on the back Chuck’s neck to stand straight up.
“Wait, Lu! You need your helmet at least!” Helly called after him.
Lu ignored her, continuing past the checkpoint and striding towards the lift. It was then that Chuck realized what was familiar about the tone of his voice.
It was the resignation, the consignment to defeat, the finality. He’d heard it in Crater’s voice, just before he’d ordered him to run, knowing the fight was lost, knowing it was the end.
Knowing he was about to die.
He whipped his head around to look at Anj. Teef was leaving the shaft, and the Nautolan was making her way towards him with long, quick strides. Her dark eyes were focused on Lu’s back, confusion and concern clear in them.
“Anj?” Chuckles’s voice sounded small. He wanted to be wrong, but when he looked at Anj, he could see she was scared. Something had shaken her. Knowing everything he did about Anj, everything she'd survived, the understanding that she was rattled sent a cold spike of fear shooting through him.
Something was very wrong.
A flash of understanding dawned on Anj’s features. Her dark eyes widened in horror.
“Oh, kriff,” she breathed, breaking into a sprint.
“What’s going on?” Helly asked.
Lu turned to face them, and Chuckles’s heart pounded in his ears as the Nikto pulled back his long, heavy coat, revealing a glittering array of thermal detonators strapped to his chest. His expression was sad, but determined as he raised a detonator in his hand, his thumb poised on the trigger.
“ANJ! STOP!” Chuckles screamed. He lunged towards her, just managing to grab her by her arm as she passed him and wrenching her back towards him. “FUCK! LU! NO!” Anj shouted, her voice breaking as she struggled in Chuckles’s grip, still trying to get to her friend. Chuck managed to keep his hold on her and tackle Helly to the ground, doing his best to shield them both underneath his body as the mine erupted in a roar of flames and smoke.

Hii, can you do Scenario 5 with Lucifer? I hope I’m not asking for a lot today, thank you though!!
Aw no this request wasn’t a problem, it was fun to write! I can just see him sitting all smug 😏while MC is just 😰 reader is gender neutral!
SN: I might go back and add a bonus section 👀🤸🏽♀️
Warning: Lesson 16 (VERY minor), 25 & 26 spoilers (all minor, but still wanted to put it just in case)
Prompt Scenario: “Person A and Person B go to a fair/amusement park and Person A wants to go on the roller coaster and Person B agrees. Later, Person B regrets their decision and ends up clinging onto Person A for dear life.” with Lucifer!
You’re starting to regret this decision.
No forget that, you’re starting to regret LIFE.
The carnival was back in town, and without having to worry about finding an illegal gambling ring popping up, Lucifer wanted to have an actual date with you. He wanted to spend time with you without having to worry about his brothers meddling in or having to do anything for Diavolo. So when the opportunity arouse and he *GASP* miraculously finished all of his paperwork early, he wasn’t going to waste another second. He stole you away before anyone else had a chance to, ordering you to get dressed and to meet him downstairs in an hour, and to not let any of his brothers (mainly Mammon) distract you.
While he would prefer taking you out somewhere like Ristorante Six or even to the new stage play, he was fine with taking you to the pop-up carnival. Seeing the way your eyes shone as you rambled about how excited you were to experience this for real this time without being stuck to the second born convinced him that those plans can be saved for later.
Had it been someone else, he would have been irritated, but he suppose that it’s fine if it means to see your infectious smile.
Not to mention how much he’s enjoying you clinging onto him for dear life.
He tried to warn you about this ride, to convince you to ride the Ferris Wheel once more, but being the stubborn human that you are, you were determined to go on this roller coaster. While he personally enjoys this ride whenever he does choose to indulge, even he knows how intense it can get (not that it phases him, if anything it drew him in more).
He did express about wanting to ride it when you both first arrived, but quickly rejected any talk of going on it. If other demons and even his own brothers tense up at this coaster, what do you think it can do to a mere human? But you just shook your head, claiming how you have rides like this back at home, and how this is nothing to you.
You weren’t going to chicken out now, especially since it was something that actually peaked Lucifer’s interest (no matter how much he tried to hide it). You wanted him to have fun too, and if getting on this would help him loosen up then you’ll do it!
Head held high, you oh so confident stepped into the cart and dragged him next to you, even going as far as mocking him.
“If you get scared Luci, you can always hold my hand.”
He narrowed his eyes and just shook his head, “Just remember I tried to warn you.”
Which lead to now: you curled up in his side, having a death grip on his arm. With him looking so smug, chuckling more and more as he felt your grip tighten. The fact that he’s sitting relaxed, like he’s in his study listening to classical music with a glass of Demonus, is a sight that both pissed you off and reminded you who exactly Lucifer is.
While he’s a softie underneath his intimidating facade, he’s still just that. Intimidating. Stuff that would traumatize you wouldn’t even phase him, prime example being now.
You hated this, oh you hated this, but you could stick it out just for a little longer-
After another loop, feeling the flames lick at your face, and seeing some type of creature that you’ll probably be seeing in your sleep for the next month, you wanted off. Now.
“Hm, how the tables have turned.”
You wished that you couldn’t hear him right now, that the wind or even the other passengers would help tune him out, but you weren’t that lucky.
You couldn’t even fully glare at him as you nearly jumped into his lap after a violent jerk of your cart. You would have been even more embarrassed and mortified but an animatronic jumped out and you screamed so loud, you would not be surprised if you burst Lucifer’s eardrums’ along with yours. You didn’t want to be a killjoy, but this was way more than you expected it to be, and you are regretting all of your life choices at this point.
“Are you frightened MC? You know that you can always hold my hand if you are-“
You didn’t even hesitate to grab it.
——
Well that was probably the worst experience in your entire life. It’s up there with the attic incident, that’s how scarred you are from this.
“Do you need to sit down and collect yourself, MC?”
“NO! I-I mean, no. I’m fine, let’s continue. The night is still young-“
“You’re shivering and look like you’re about to faint.”
“Lucifer, I’m fine-“
“We’re sitting down”, he walked you to a nearby bench, and gently sat you down. You didn’t even realize that you were shivering, and you can’t tell if it was because of the breeze setting in or because of how petrified that ride really made you. You felt a weight on your shoulders, and felt much more cozier and warm.
He gave up his fur coat, and never let go of your hand after the ride.
“I told you that we shouldn’t have gotten on. Why must you be so headstrong?”, he just shook his head at you again. “There’s always a need to prove something with you. I’ve already made a pact with you, what else is there to prove?”
“I’m not proving anything to you, I just wanted to make sure that you’re having fun too. Did you atleast have fun on the ride?”
“While it was very satisfying having you in my arms, I rather it be when you’re not terrified and on the brink of tears.”
“Hey I wasn’t about to cry!”
“If you say so”, he rolled his eyes. His gaze turned serious, “Seeing you enjoy yourself makes me enjoy myself. Seeing you happy is enough for me to have a good time. And I know you did not like the ride, and do not try to lie to me and say otherwise. I am not a fool MC.”
You felt guilty, you were so wrapped up in trying to prove to yourself that you could handle it when you knew you couldn’t. You just wanted Lucifer to have a good time too, since he rarely had the time to loosen up and not stress about other concerns. You didn’t want it to just be about you, you wanted it to be about him too.
“I didn’t mean to ruin this, Lucifer”, you just felt stupid now. “I messed tonight up, and we already rarely get to go out with just us. So I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you, I promise-“
“MC”, he lifted your chin up, and made no room for you to escape eye contact. “Tonight isn’t ruined, far from it. While it may have put a damper on things, you still had fun earlier correct?”
Flashing back to him winning you a stuffed animal (a peacock, no surprise), sharing laughs and a Devildom version of cotton candy, exchanging kisses while overlooking the Devildom night sky from the Ferris Wheel unknowingly brought a smile to your face.
Okay, so maybe tonight wasn’t a complete bust.
“Yeah, I did.”
“So the night is far from ruined then. Did you expect me to take you out and have it end on a miserable note?”, he tutted. “You think very low of me, I see.”
He took on a teasing tone, which made you giggle. “Of course not. I wouldn’t expect the Avatar of Pride to have this night turn sour and not have a way to turn it around.”
“Besides, your current offer still stands. You wish to make it up to me, and I have just the perfect solution.”
“Hm, already?”
“Of course. After all”, he leaned in, devilish smirk adorning his face.
“The night is still young, is it not?”

Pairing: Matthew Gray Gubler/Reader
Category: Fluff
Warnings: I curse. We all know it.
Word count: 1,3K
A/N: Here's the second part!! I hope you like it!
Masterlist
You can also read Baby Reid
.
- "Ok! It's ok! Everything is ok!"- Matthew ran downstairs and left a bag next to the door. Then, he ran to the kitchen and came back, carrying a bottle of cold water.
- "What ar..."- his wife looked at him confused, sitting on a couch, trying not to laugh, as she caressed her big pregnant belly, trying to breathe each time she felt a contraction. It was time, their son was coming, and Matthew was... well, he was all over the place.
- "You might get thirsty.... oh shit! I have to stop for ice!!"- Gubler kept running all over the house, rambling, hysterical.
- "Matthew..."
- "The doctor said you might eat some ice. I don't remember why... but I have to get you ice."
- "Matthew..."
- "I don't know if I put everything in the bag...."
- "Gubs!!"- (Y/N) slowly stood up and walked to her husband, who was clearly freaking out- "The contractions started just half an hour ago. My water hasn't even..."
But the water that ran down her legs as she spoke stopped her immediately, and she just widened her eyes.
- "What the hell is that?!!"- and Matthew Gray Gubler freaked out even more- "Are you in pain??! are you ok?!"
- "I'm ok. This means my water just broke, but I'm fine. Your son will join us shortly, so I think it's the right time to go to the hospital."- (Y/N) said in the calmest and softest tone of voice she could. She could see her husband's face. He was panicking.
- "Ok, ok... let's go,"- he answered, but didn't move an inch- "I'm not feeling alright. I think I'm gonna puke."
(Y/N) smiled and offered him the bottle of water he had given her earlier.
- "Come on, Gubs, breathe, you can do this. You liked making the baby. You are gonna love this part too."
.
Matthew Gray Guber thought he was prepared for that day. He and (Y/N) got everything ready as the due date of their baby approached. They had their bags ready. They had weekly check-ups with their doctor, and the midwife (Y/N) wanted to deliver their baby.
Matthew was sure he was ready. But he wasn't. Not because he was scared to be a dad. He was born to be a father, and he couldn't wait to hold his son in his arms and play with him. Teach him how to walk, how to ride his bike, take him to Disney, and watch him grow up. He had so many plans for his family. But right that minute, all he felt was fear.
Fear of ruining everything. Fear of being the worst father. Fear of being a bad husband. Fear of letting his wife down.
Somehow, getting closer to fatherhood had also made him feel vulnerable. Aware of all of his mistakes and flaws.
.
- "Honey, are you ok?"- (Y/N) whispered and rubbed his leg sweetly as he drove to the hospital.
- "Yes, yes, I am. How are you, Bunny? how do you feel?"
- "We are ok. I'm texting your mom and my parents."
- "Great, awesome."- Matthew looked at the road and gripped the steering wheel tight. Too tight. His fingers were turning white.
- "Breath, honey."- (Y/N) smiled, thinking she never imagined her husband was going to be so nervous- "Everything will be ok."
- "I know. I know."- he didn't know. He wanted it to be ok, but he was freaking out. "What if." That was all that was in his mind.
- "But, what if I'm a bad father?- he confessed and sighed, defeated by his own fears- "I mean, you are already an amazing mom, look at you, keeping your shit together while I freak out"- his wife smiled and nodded
- "The only reason why I'm not freaking out is that you are here, and I know no matter what, you will always do your best to..."- but she couldn't continue talking. She held her breath and closed her eyes. It was getting harder.
- "Breath, Bunny. You are doing great. Just five more minutes, and we'll be there."
.
(Y/N) meant it. She was only keeping her shit together because Matthew was by her side. She was glad he was home when the contraction started, and her water broke. If he had been at work, she could have lost it. (Y/N) was scared of being alone during that whole process after her best friend had a severe complication at the delivery room and had an emergency c-section. Her baby nearly died, and (Y/N) was terrified something like it might happen to her too.
She was scared of everything that could go wrong, and the only person to make her feel safe was her husband, Matthew Gray Gubler, even when he was freaking out.
.
- "Ok, there's not much time,"- the midwife warned as soon as she checked up (Y/N)- "Honey, we are doing this right now."
- "What?!"- and (Y/N) freaked out- "I need the drugs! Please, give me the drugs! It hurts too much!"
Matthew's heart stopped. (Y/N) was crying in pain, as the midwife prepared everything as fast as she could, along with some nurses.
- "I'm sorry, Mrs. Gubler, but your son is ready to come, and we don't have any time."
- "I can keep him inside a little long, I swear, just... give me something! Please!"- (Y/N) cried in pain and fear.
- "You can do this, Bunny"- Matthew stood by her side, holding her hand and kissing it several times- "I'm here, I'm with you, ok?"
- "But, but..."
- "I know you are scared, I am scared too, but we are going through this together, ok?"
- "No human is coming out of you!!"- she cried and yelled in pain- "Shit!!"
- "Bunny, I would do this for you if I could, but I can't. So please"- Matthew leaned in and kissed her forehead- "Do you want me to call your mom?"
- "No!!"- she held onto his hand as tight as possible- "I want you! I need you!"
- "Ok, ok, then, breath, Bunny. I'm with you, always."
The adoration in Matthew's eyes was undeniable. He was staring at his wife with the deepest and purest love. He was scared, but if there was one thing he was sure about in his life, he wanted to have a family with (Y/N) and make her happy every day.
- "One more push Mrs. Gubler!"
The midwife announced, and soon, in the middle of a chaotic moment, with (Y/N) nearly yelling in pain and Matthew desperately cooing her, there was a cry. And it was a heart-stopping cry. Matthew looked at his son for the first time as the midwife carefully place him on his wife's chest. Gubler broke into tears immediately. He sobbed and laughed at the same time, kissing his wife's lips and staring at their baby in awe.
- "We made a human"- he whispered, and his wife nodded- "How are you feeling?"
- "Never been better"- she whispered and caressed carefully their baby's face- "Hello, baby Gubs."- Matthew chuckled at those words and wiped away the tears from his eyes.
- "Say hello to your daddy,"- (Y/N) muttered and handed the baby to her husband. He carried him as carefully as possible, feeling he was holding the most precious thing in the whole world.
- "Hello, Vincent, I'm your dad. I'm sorry, buddy, but you are stuck with me forever now. I'm not good at sports, but I swear I'm always going to be there to play. I can teach you magic, and we are watching all the Disney movies you want, always. And I promise I will always keep your mommy happy because she is the woman of our lives, and you are the only man on earth I could ever share her love with, ok?"
The baby was no longer crying and looked at his father with his tiny eyes for a moment before the midwife took him.
- "You are amazing,"- Matthew whispered and kissed (Y/N)'s forehead.
- "I wouldn't have done it without you"- she answered and looked at his eyes, still filled with tears.
- "I didn't do anything."
- "We are a team"- she answered and smiled- "Team Gubs."
- "Team Gubs"- he repeated and smiled- "I love how it sounds. I'm making t-shirts with our names."
- "Of course you are."

I don’t know if it’s too much to ask, but when you’re done with all your requests, can you please do a part 2 of getting to know you?❤️
Hello darling!💕 Thank you for the request and I’m so sorry it took me so long; I was waiting for Cherry to come out to write this and I also have time to finally write. I hope you like it!💕 *CHERRY SPOLIERS*
A/n: Hello my loves! I just wanted to say that these kind of fics are the closest I will get to writing for Cherry. I will not be writing about the characters in the story, I will only be writing about the filming process, working with Tom, etc. Now that I mentioned that, I wanted to let you all know that this is going to be a bit more of a happier fic! I see a lot of people writing about the hard parts of filming Cherry so I thought why not have a little fun one? I’m sure they had some laughs on set, I briefly remember Ciara and Tom mentioning it. But yeah that’s all, enjoy the fic! Ally xx
💌.
I’m Really Happy You’re Here
(GIF @thollandgifs )
Tom watched you from a distance. From where he was, he could hear the sound of your bubbly laugh and see that bright smile on your face. Your smile was contagious. The way your eyes crinkled at the ends and how your smile squished into your cheeks was something he’s grown fond of over the past eight weeks. Though the difference from the previous weeks was that your cheeks were fuller and the bleak expressions of Emily did not shadow your face anymore.
The last eight weeks of filming have been rough. Both on you and him, along with the rest of the cast and crew. Having to begin filming with the ‘Dope Life’ section of the movie was not a pleasant way of starting a months long project. He felt drained after every shoot, spending his time on set crying, kicking, and screaming. Not to mention he was also starving himself to enhance the ‘druggy’ look on his features. After those eight weeks they had to transition into the part of Cherry’s life where he’s falling in love with Emily. The transition from being an addict to becoming a lovesick college student was a tricky one for Tom. The sudden switch in the film’s dynamic, made Tom doubt himself. From the intense scenes and screaming to being all loving and sweet, he was self-conscious that he was not doing enough. Though you were quick to debunk his doubts. You kept your promise of being there for him and gave him the freedom to be vulnerable. You didn’t judge him, you listened to him ramble and understood the struggles he was facing. Because of this, you helped him through the transition of druggy to lovesick college student.
It wasn’t hard to act like he was falling in love you. You have been so supportive and patient with him during the previous weeks that he’s grown to adore you. On and off set you made sure he knew you were not only his co-worker but his friend. When he had a rough day, you were there to pick him up. Or that one time when he had a bit of a panic attack and you were instantly by his side to guide him out of it. There were many reasons as to why you are so dear to him, he could have gone on for days listing them. But overall, it was your lovable nature that lured him in since the very beginning he’s met you.
He felt like Cherry in that one scene you guys shot in the classroom. The one where he’s gazing at Emily and admiring her features. Except you didn’t stare back at him, instead you were having a very animated conversation with your makeup artist and one of the stylists. You were dressed in Emily’s clothes, white stockings, a jean skirt, and that cherry pink jacket with flowers embroidered onto it. He thought you looked so adorable and carefree kicking around leaves with your brown ankle boots and playfully swinging your arms around. Tom felt his lips unconsciously twitch upwards at the sight of you.
Harry, who had been eyeing his older brother, nudged him roughly. Tom whips around to look at him, sending him a glare for rudely interrupting his train of thought.
“What?” Tom hissed.
Harry smirked, motioning to you, “(Y/n) looks really pretty today.” Tom distinctly squints an eye at Harry before looking over his shoulder. The glare for his brother softening once you come into view.
“I mean, doesn’t she always? She’s a beautiful woman.”
“And you’re absolutely whipped.” Harry remarked with a smug grin on his face.
“So I can’t call someone beautiful without being absolutely whipped for them now?” Tom retorted crossing his arms. Harry raised his hands up defensively, “You can mate, chill. I’m just saying that because you’re literally staring at her with a stupid love haze in your eyes.”
“No I’m not.” Tom scoffed, hoping to get his brother off his case. Harry stared at him blankly and rolled his eyes, “Whatever, they want you on your mark.”
The filming location was a secluded park located somewhere in Cleveland. The park was set up to appear as a cemetery, gray gravestones were placed on the ground and gothic statues scattered the place. The scene was supposed to be a meaningful one for Cherry and Emily. Emily was going to be telling Cherry about her abusive father and he was going to tell her he loved her.
Tom sat on the grass and leaned against the stone statue where his mark was located. He looked around his surroundings in curiosity. A few feet away from him was the crew, the Russos, and a tent that sheltered the monitors. He breathed in, wallowing in the crisp air of Cleveland’s autumn weather. It was a bit chilly, but not to the point where you were shivering and left with chattering teeth. The vintage looking jacket he was given and the black beanie on his head was enough to keep him warm. His eyes continued to wander around the park, shifting along the trees and studying the clusters of yellow and orange.
“Hey you.” Your gentle voice breaks through the quiet murmurs of nature and the crew surrounding him. Tom’s eyes instantly set themselves upon your figure, their focus on you and only you. The trees and cameras behind you faded in the background. His gaze followed your figure as you moved to sit beside him.
“Hey.” His voice is soft making you hum in response. Being the gentleman he was, Tom held out his hand to help you sit on the ground. You quietly thank him. He watches as you rest your head against the stone and shut your eyes.
“Still sleepy?” He chuckles nudging your shoulder. You giggle along, lazily nodding. Your eyes open again and he’s met with your stunning (eye color) orbs. They were bright and filled with joy even though you were clearly tired.
You turn your head to the side to face him, “I barely got any sleep last night.”
Tom’s brows drew together in concern, “Why didn’t you get any sleep?”
“I may or may not have watched The Nun by myself last night.” You cringed. Tom let out a dramatic gasp, “Darling, why would you do that to yourself?”
“I was bored and I couldn’t find anything else to watch. I thought watching a horror movie would be a good idea, but I was wrong.” You explained, shaking your head at yourself. You breathed out a laugh, remembering how terrified you were the night before.
Tom joined you, also shaking his head. “Why didn’t you ask Harry and I to join? We could’ve watched it for movie night. Then you wouldn’t have to be alone and you’d have two body guards to protect you from the scary nun.” He teased you poking your side. You squeaked and swatted his finger away.
“You guys were going out for dinner. I thought you might want to have some quality time with your brother.” You stifled a yawn, your nose scrunching after, making Tom pout at your sleepy state. He glanced in front of him to see everyone still occupied in side conversations. The Russos were haunched behind the tent discussing things about the scene.
Tom turns back to you and motions to his lap. You give him a questioning look. You glance at his lap, not completely understanding him. Tom followed your stare, realizing that you were probably getting the wrong message.
“Oh! No—I meant that you could sleep on my lap or something. I don’t think we’re gonna start filming for a few more minutes, so I thought you might want to squeeze in a little nap.” He explained, words jumbling together in panic. Your heart swelled at how sweet Tom was.
The two of you were silent, staring at each other before bursting out in laughter. Tom squeezed his eyes shut, fingers holding his temples, “God, I’m sorry, that was embarrassing.”
You chuckled resting your head on his shoulder, “It’s okay, you had good intentions.” When your laughs die down, you look up at him. “Does your offer for the nap still stand? I think I can use it.”
“Of course it does.” Tom shifts so there’s space on his thigh for you to rest your head on. He helps you lay down, fixing your hair so it’s not in your face. He leaves a hand to play with the strands, mesmerized at how luscious it was. He notices that he’s probably invading your space and pulls his hand away, apologizing.
You make a noise of disagreement, pulling his hand back. “It’s ok, feels nice.” You mumble, eyes closing and a content expression on your face. Tom played with your hair; being careful to not tangle any strands or pull on them too hard. He couldn’t help but study your features. To name a few, he took the time to memorize the way your lashes brushed against your cheeks, the shape of your nose, and the curve of your lips. Your lips. They looked remarkably soft and had a tint of pink to them. Tom found his eyes flickering down at your lips the most than your other features.
He was so caught up in admiring you that he didn’t notice the words coming out of his mouth.
“I’m really happy you’re here.”
Your eyes snap open dancing with amusement. A toothy grin forms on your mouth.
“Did you just quote the movie?” You question him, referring to the previous scene you were both shooting a couple of days ago. Tom becomes flustered, the blood rushing to his fair cheeks.
“Yes, shut up.” He muttered, bouncing his thigh, causing your head to loll to the side. You giggle elbowing his stomach. “Well were you practicing your lines? ‘Cause they’re for the wrong scene, Tommy.” You tease him.
Tom playfully rolls his eyes and looks down at you. His hands were still tangled in your hair, the soft strands like silk in between his fingers. “No, I know that—but I’m serious. I’m really happy you’re here with me. I know I’ve told you this so many times but I can’t imagine filming this movie with anyone else. And you’ve been so loyal and trusting, I feel so comfortable with you. You’ve always had my back and I’m really thankful for that. So thank you for—being you.”
You give him a lopsided grin, “You know, you don’t have to always thank me. We made a promise to always have each other’s back. I’m one to keep my word but at the same time you’re my friend, Tom. I’m not being nice to fulfill a promise, I genuinely care about you.” Tom beams while you continue.
“It honestly goes both ways, I should also be thanking you. The beginning of filming was very taxing and somehow you’ve made it bearable for me to come into work not worrying about losing my shit on everyone. So thank you, Tom.” You finish, reaching out to interlock your fingers with his free hand.
Tom sighs happily, “I guess we’re just happy to have each other, huh?”
“Yeah.” You agree, eyes trained on the way his giant hand enveloped yours. A peaceful silence lays upon the both of you. The melody of birds chirping and the sound of Tom’s breathing fill the air as you drift off to sleep.
Bonus:
Tom feels your hand loosen in his grip, your interlocked fingers resting on your stomach. He felt your stomach steadily raising up and down to the pace of your breathing. His hands remained where they were; one playing with your hair and the other holding one of your hands.
Joe approaches the both of you, gesturing to the position you and Tom were in. Though you were unaware, napping on Tom’s lap.
“Is this how you guys want to film the scene? We were gonna have you sitting beside each other instead.” Joe stood above you and Tom with his hands on his hips.
“I think this is actually better—don’t get me wrong, sitting beside each other and cuddling is pretty affectionate. But I think having someone rest their head on your lap is another level of intimacy.” Tom reasoned. He wanted to extend the amount of time you could ‘nap’ but he also thought the scene would be much better if your head was cradled on his lap. Personally, he believed it would show the audience how comfortable Cherry and Emily were with each other.
Joe nods his head, “Yeah, I get what you mean. I think I like that better, to be honest. What do you think, (Y/n)? Is Tom’s lap comfortable enough for you to shoot a few scenes on?” Joe asks, teasing you towards the end. He’s met with no response. He raises a brow at you, “Is she asleep?”
“Yup, long night.” Tom chuckled, running his hand through your hair soothingly.
Joe chuckles as well, “Is she all good though?”
“Oh, she’s fine. She just watched The Nun by herself and couldn’t catch any sleep after.” Tom reassured him.
“Ahh, alright.” Joe snickers, moving to make his way back to the crew. “She’s got a good 10 to 15 minutes to squeeze in a nap, monitors are acting up.”
“Gotcha’ boss.” Tom mentally notes, resuming to bask in the nature around him and your presence.

“So, Lucky, where did you go on your…’break’?”
“I..uh, I don’t really know. The place, I mean.”
Freddy looked at him with a professional neutrality; calm, polite, yet to the point. This must be how he acts with clients, such a far cry from his usual dry sarcasm.
“Were you lead there or was one of Miss Nightingale’s…capabilities used?”
“She blindfolded me, dragged me through the room and then suddenly I was somewhere else! I mean, I can do a bit of magic myself, it’s a perk of the job, but no teleportation for me.”
“Mhm. Could you describe the space you were taken to? Please make it as detailed as possible.”
“It was a large room, like, really large. It had some dividers and partition walls to section the space off though. The ceiling had a bunch of different drawings on it, the Cycle symbol in the middle, that’s the same symbol as Oletus uses as its crest, and a bunch of…animals. Mostly crows and birds, but others too.”
Freddy motioned him to halt dis rambling, the sound of a typewriter quickly clacking out whatever notes the Lawyer was making onto paper. Once he was done, Lucky continued.
“The floor was regular hardwood, like almost all the flooring at the manor. Sometimes it was broken up by stupidly chic carpets. They were soft, sure, but they were so detailed they should’ve been hung on a wall instead of walked over. There were no windows and no doors and the room was lit up by chandeliers. They looked like they were made of brass or something.”
Freddy’s fingers were typing at a mesmerizing speed. It went so fast, there was a slight bit of motion blur.
“It was always comfortably warm in the room, which was nice. It smelled of lavender. There was this ridiculously huge bed, so big I could lay spread-eagle in the middle and would still have a good bit of room on either side. The closet was huge too, but locked. My clothing, all loungewear, was put in drawers at the bottom. There was a giant bath, with constant warm water, a fancy dinner table with very fancy plates and stuff. There was a really soft couch, lots of books and a fireplace. It was so obviously expensive, I felt guilty just for staying there. I think it might’ve been Miss Nightingale’s room.”
After two minutes of furious typing, Freddy looked back up.
“Thank you. The description was sufficient. Lucky, could I ask you why you were, as you say it, ‘put on leave’?”
“Ehm…I hand an incident with a hunter.”
“A violent one?”
“Not really. A hunter, the…uh, clown one, came in. He didn’t even say anything before I had, like, just the biggest panic attack ever! Like, I threw up and passed out. I walked around with a fever for a week after! The worst part was, it kept happening. I’d see this guy come in, almost die from my brain feeding me panic chemicals and get sick for a week afterwards. Miss Nightingale temporarily took me out of commission to, according to her, ‘solve some internal issues’. I was forced into a lot of rest, warm food and so much medicine. She’d bring me pills, refuse to tell me what they did, claim it was in ‘the contract’ and make me take them. I don’t even have a contract!”
“No contract…I think you might be working illegally. Are you sure you haven’t signed anything?”
“…No. I don’t want to talk about this one anymore.”
Freddy nodded, showing his willingness to back off.
“Alright. Have your Smileyface-related ailments stopped now that you’ve finished your leave?”
“Mostly. I’m still nervous whenever he comes in and Miss Nightingales takes over whenever he wants to buy something, but for the rest I’m fine.”
“That’s good to hear. I am sorry for the unprompted interrogation and the abduction beforehand…I have been worried about you.”
“Freddy—“
“The only human staff other than you was coerced into handling the physical affairs of the manor and human experimentation. I think I have a right to worry about you. You disappeared for a long time, Lucky. Half the manor essentially believed we were lying about you, until you came back. After our much less civil interrogation of Orpheus, we were horrified of what he went through. I just…needed to know that you are alright.”
“I was—am fine, just a bit lonely at the time. I don’t work directly for whatever creature runs this place, Miss Nightingale is my boss. She’s a bit strict and doesn’t like me socializing, but she cares…in her own way. I haven’t , and probably never will, seen the big big boss. Miss Nightingale is too happy with her assistant to let me get taken.”
Freddy hums. They drink the last of their tea in silence. Freddy stores his notes in a folder with the label ‘Manor—Affiliates’ that in turn gets locked into a safe. He sells an excuse about Lucky helping him move some newly purchased furniture, something he actually did buy to make it believable, to Miss Nightingale. Lucky doesn’t get in trouble. All is well. Lucky’s back.
Sometimes I wonder where Lucky disappeared to after Miss Nightingale sent him on a "break." (Literally made the au)
Was he just at the back? Forced to listen to his friends' voices coming and going, hearing new voices join the fray?
Somewhere else entirely? A pocket dimension? Wondering when would be the next time he'd be able to see the lawyer who always made him laugh with his sarcastic humor? The thief he always gave not-miss-nightingale approved discounts?
The gardener who always stayed behind an extra minute or two to browse the shop with stars in her eyes? The doctor who left him snacks and drinks whenever there was a special occasion?
Maybe he was just hidden away in the manor, kept out of sight and right under everyone's noses. Despite the number of newcomers that arrive, making the manor more lively, Lucky has never felt so alone.
#identity v#idv lucky guy#idv lawyer#freddy riley#idv orpheus#although this is of course an au (that isn’t even mine)#I have so many thoughts of Orpheus’ involvement in the manor#and his position as the ‘ringleader’

So. We're Soulmates? (Bucky x Reader)
A/N: my first soulmate AU, and I figured it was finally time, and bucky deserved one lol. no spoilers whatsoever
Soulmate AU where you have your soulmate’s birthday tattooed on your arm ---
March 10th, 1917.
(Y/n) had always thought, there was no possible way that the universe had ever, ever gotten her soulmate’s birthday right. When everyone was celebrating that their soulmate was around the same age as them, she got to look down in horror as she could practically see her soulmate’s life fly by. There was legitimately no possible way that her soulmate would even still be alive.
The rules of the soulmate were strange, and no one ever understood them or questioned them. It was found out sometime in the 80s that the dates on peoples forearms weren’t random--but the birthday of their soulmate. Because the universe was a cosmic nightmare, when someone’s soulmate died, the numbers went with them.
That’s what made this so strange.
Either (Y/n)’s soulmate was hanging onto life support, or the universe had fucked up and decided it was going to trick her into thinking she could find happiness like everyone else.
She had these feelings up until she got the faithful call one day, that she had landed the job with SHIELD and found out that she would be working in the helicarrier during the attack on New York. And that’s how she met Steve Rogers.
“You know, it’s kind of funny.” Steve sighed with a chuckle, shaking his head as he followed (Y/n) who was leading him to where he would be staying.
“What is?” She asked as she typed in the access code for one of the doors as they walked.
“The number on your arm. That’s my friend’s birthday.” Steve was smirking as he walked into his room. “I mean, it was his birthday.”
(Y/n) looked down at the date on her arm and sighed, her hand instinctively covering the date. “You sure he’s dead? Not some hundred-year-old veteran in a nursing home that you haven’t checked in on or something?” She was trying her best to not sound horrible for joking about his friend's death, but he seemed almost amused by her banter.
“Last I checked, he’s dead. I watched him fall off the train and everything.” He told her as he sat down on the edge of his bed. “His name was Bucky.” He told her as she turned around to leave, watching her stop for a moment to listen before she left.
Steve’s words always lingered in the back of her mind ever since that day on the helicarrier. She had seen the Bucky memorial spot in the museum, and the day she found out that he was alive, she would never forget (mostly because when it happened, she had dropped the bottle of wine she was holding on the floor and spent hours picking up tiny shards of glass).
The year was now 2023. Five years after the blip, and (Y/n) now fully retired from SHIELD. She left on good terms, but the years of working were just exhausting. Especially now that she came back after vanishing for five years and had to rebuild her life all over again. At least they were respectful, and were happy to give her the pay that she had missed out on.
It was hard enough having to deal with knowing all your close friends sacrificed themselves for the whole world, and not being able to do anything about it. That was the reason that kept her up most nights. The guilt of feeling like she could have done something, but never got the chance to, was the hardest feeling.
That’s what led (Y/n) to walking aimlessly around the grocery store at almost 2am. When she couldn’t sleep, sometimes the best thing to do was walk around pushing the cart and praying that the LED lights would calm her down enough to go home and face the empty apartment.
What she didn’t expect was turning the corner of the frozen section and crashing her cart into someone elses. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry I wasn’t paying attention.” (Y/n) apologize as she looked at the man in front of her. “I should have been looking. I guess I’m just tired.”
“I’m probably just tired too.” He chuckled, pulling his cart away from hers. Both the carts were empty anway. “You come here to walk around at night too?”
“How could you tell?” (Y/n) laughed, running a hand through her hair as she looked him over. He looked familiar, and knowing her luck he was some assassin that was stalking her, and came here to finish the job.
He motioned to their empty carts with a bob of his head. “Something about just pushing the carts around and listening to the crappy music makes me feel better too.” He smirked as he never broke eye contact. “Also, people normally buy food when they’re shopping.”
(Y/n) sighed, nodding. “You caught me. I’m just here to wander.”
“It’s okay. I am too. Sometimes staring at the TV isn’t enough.” He mumbled, shaking his head as he broke eye contact to look where his hands were gripping the handle of the cart. “Sorry, I’m just rambling I guess.”
“No, I get it.” She laughed it off, knowing it was late and sometimes people just kept talking when they were tired. “My names (Y/n).” She smiled, holding out her hand for him to shake.
He seemed to hesitate, but reached out and shook her hand. “My name’s Bucky.”
She could feel her mouth go dry. “Bucky?” There was just no, possible way that this was the man who has been in the back of her mind for years on end.
“I’m guessing you know who I am.” He muttered, already preparing himself to turn around and forget this interaction never happened. “Sorry, I should go.”
“Wait! No, I didn’t mean it like that.” (Y/n) exclaimed as she held her hands out to stop him from leaving. “I just have heard so much about you--not the way you think, it sounds so weird. I talked to Steve about you once, way back before the battle of New York.”
She peaked his interest at the mention of Steve. “You knew Steve?”
(Y/n) nodded. “He told me all about you. Look, I even have your birthday on my arm.” She told him, lifting up her sleeve to show him the date on her arm, watching his eyes go wide out of shock. “Steve liked to always tease me that I had your birthday, and I always told him that I probably had some old man, sitting in some hospital bed, decaying before our eyes. Wow, I am rambling, I am so sorry. I should leave.” She was bright red as she decided to just leave her cart where it was and accept the humiliation and leave.
“No, you don’t have to go.” Bucky told her, gently grabbing her arm to stop her from leaving. “I guess now that you showed me yours, I’ll show you mine.” He grinned as he let go of her arm, using his left hand to pull up his long sleeve. There on his arm, in bold black numbers was (Y/n)’s birthday clear as day.
“Do you maybe want to go get coffee at that 24 hour place across the street? We might have a bit we need to talk about.” She was dumbfounded. Steve would always tease and joke, telling her that Bucky was her soulmate just because it was the same birthday on her arm. But due to the fact that he was presumed dead for so long, (Y/n) never thought anything of it.
“Are you going to come inside? I’ve been holding the door open for almost a minute.” Bucky asked, laughing a little uncomfortably as he watched the woman just stand at the door of the diner. She didn’t even remember the walk to get there.
(Y/n) blinked, rubbing her eyes as she nodded and walked inside. The sign said seat yourself, and she found a nice seat by the window for the two of them. “Sorry. I guess I’m just a little speechless.”
He chuckled as he shifted in the booth. “I’ll be honest. Me too.”
“So. We’re soulmates.” She shrugged, feeling uncertain of herself. Finding her soulmate was never the first thing on her mind, because she never actually thought that she would find him. Sure, the universe also had a way of making the two cross paths at some point, but because of the age, she never cared.
“When I used to see the date on my arm, I thought it was a joke.” He told her, mumbling that he wanted a coffee when the waiter walked over and asked what they wanted. “She wants a coffee. Two cream, one sugar.” He said as the other man nodded and walked away.
“How did you know my coffee order?” She asked with a raise of her eyebrow.
Bucky opened his mouth like he was about to speak but sighed. “I legit have no idea. My brain was working for me, and it just came out.”
(Y/n) laughed. “I mean, we’re cosmically linked so it does make sense.” The coffee was set down in front of them and she smiled as she held onto the mug. “Is this when I ask if you can tell me about yourself?”
“Where do I start?” He asked as he set his coffee down after taking a sip. “My name is James Buchanan Barnes, but I go by Bucky. James is only for when shit hits the fan I guess.”
“I think I prefer Bucky.” She smiled, watching as his cheeks turned red for a moment.
“What about you Doll? What fun thing do you have to tell me?” Bucky asked her with a smirk, making it her turn to blush.
“I worked for SHIELD, that’s where I met Steve. But then there was that time we found out that Hydra was inside of SHIELD, and technically you tried to kill me.” She pointed out, watching as he put his head down in shame. “But that’s all in the past now. I’m not that person anymore.”
He took a sip of his coffee before he spoke. “What changed?”
(Y/n) sighed, shaking her head as she held onto her coffee mug for warmth. “I was pretty close with Steve and Natasha. Tony helped me get the job at SHIELD, too. Three people that I looked up to more than anything, were gone before I ever got a chance to say goodbye.” She told him, knowing that there would be no more tears left to cry. Her tear-ducts seemed to stop working after she had cried for days straight that they were gone.
“I wasn’t very close to anyone but Steve, but I do understand how you feel.” He told her, leaning across the table to rest a hand on her shoulder. “Do you live in the city?”
“I live pretty close to Hell’s Kitchen.” She told him, watching as he nodded. “I’m guessing you live in Brooklyn?”
He looked a little surprised, but still smiled. “How could you tell?”
She smiled back, a little shy. “Some part of me just knew, but the other part of me heard Steve talk about Brooklyn all the time. He loved it there, and I guess I thought you did too.”
“It’s definitely still amazing, but a lot has changed. I’m still getting used to it all.” Bucky confessed, putting down some money for the coffee as they both finished and stood up from the table.
(Y/n) checked her phone and sighed at the time. 3:30 in the morning, and there was no way she was going to sleep now. Now, she was going to ride the train and hope that the rocking of the subway would be enough to turn her mind off for a while. “I should get going. It’s getting late, and I’m taking the train back.”
He nodded, seeming a little uneasy that she was about to leave. “Do you maybe want my number? We could meet up someday, maybe get to know eachother better?”
She grinned as she handed him her phone. “Put your number in.” She told him as they traded phones, smirking as she put in her contact. “I put my information as (Y/n)-Soulmate, just in case you seemed to forget.”
“Oh trust me, I don’t think I’ll ever forget.” Bucky chuckled as he looked at her contact. “Promise you’ll call?”
“Considering the fact I’ve known you for a few hours, and I’m already completely head-over-heels for you, I don’t think you have to worry.” (Y/n) told him, leaning up and pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. “Bye for now, but not bye forever.”
Bucky was grinning like an idiot, and he knew it. “I like the sound of that. I still just can’t believe I found you after all these years.”
“You better believe it, because you’re going to be seeing a lot more of me from now on.”

𝐚/𝐧: this was finished at 2 am again, so please excuse me if this is incoherent 😌 also, i changed around the order of some lyrics and deleted some sections to fit the story, so it’s not 100% the same. feedback is always welcomed!
𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭: @nakamotocore, @astroboy-lele, @infnteen (comment here to be added!)
it was always so simple. even though mark was a year older, you guys planned it out. same university, same program, just different years. as simple as that. or so you thought.
i got my driver's license last week
just like we always talked about
'cause you were so excited for me
to finally drive up to your house
but today i drove through the suburbs
crying 'cause you weren't around
mark started meeting you less often when he entered college. you didn’t think much of it, people always said the first year of college was the hardest. you just assumed the workload was catching him off-guard and he was too busy.
you didn’t tell him about getting your driver’s license. you wanted to surprise him. and you thought that if he was too busy, you’ll just go and visit him instead. before mark graduated, you guys would always be sneaking out at the crack of dawn in his white volkswagen, driving to the nearest mcdonalds, ordering whatever you craved. no cares or worries in the world.
“hey, when are you going to get your license anyways?” mark asked you one night. “i’m always the one driving, am i your personal chauffeur or something?”
“hmm, what if you are?” you tease him. mark shoots daggers at you. “i’m kidding, i’m kidding! maybe next year, when i turn 18.”
“i’m excited.” he leaned back into his seat. “you’d be able to visit me whenever.”
“i’d annoy you.” you snort. he chuckles and playfully hits you.
“you know you’d never.” he looks at you, like he really meant it.
but he didn’t. because now, tears flow down your face as you drive home in your car from mark’s university.
and i know we weren't perfect, but i've never felt this way for no one
and i just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that i'm gone
guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me
'cause you said forever, now i drive alone past your street
mark was always super passionate about songwriting. and when you guys were introduced to each other in guitar club of your freshman year, he finally found a companion to confide his interest in. when you guys snuck out, he would always bring his computer, speakers, and guitar. he’d play you the demos and songs that he had made and would want your opinions on them.
“how does it sound?” he asked you, pressing pause on his computer. it was the last day before the summer of freshman year for you, and he said he wanted to show you ‘something special’.
“yeah it’s pretty good, i think you could do a more complex guitar riff though? it would sound sick if you used E minor and riffed off onto the E major.” you suggested and turned to face mark’s smiling face. “what are you staring at?” you poked him.
“i wrote this about you, you dummy.” he flicked your forehead. “could you not tell?”
“ow, no?” you rubbed to soothe where he flicked you. “its too cheesy, and ‘that sun shining on me, my heart alive and breathing i want only one with you, all the things you make me do for you’? nah, mark lee has a little crush on someone.” you wiggled your eyebrows.
“yeah,” you whipped your head around. “you.” your brain stopped and all you feel is your heartbeat racing. you had never been romantically interested in mark, only friends. but that day changed it all.
“ayo, stop playing the innocent freshman girl.” you huff out. “i have a weak heart.” he taps your chin and turns your face back around.
“dude, i’m not playing.” he gazes into your eyes. “i’m serious, no joke.” your heart starts beating faster, the butterflies in your stomach are wild and your breaths are accentuated by the silence in the car.
and that’s when he leans in. pressing his soft, watermelon chapstick flavoured lips onto yours.
you close your eyes and you feel like you’re dreaming.
“did that prove it?” he says when he pulls away, grinning at you.
“you’re pretty bold making a move on a freshman, bro.” you roll your eyes but your insides feel warm and fuzzy. “and you stole my first kiss!” you exclaim as you push him lightly and he puffs out in disbelief.
“what else do i gotta do to prove to you that i’m for real?” he says, crossing his arms.
“pinky promise me,” you say. “that you won’t leave and you’ll love me forever.” reaching out your pinky. mark laughs, his pinky intertwined with yours.
“now who’s the one who’s cheesy?” he teases. laughing as you angrily attempt to hit him. “i’m joking, i promise, forever.”
you should have known better, promises were made to be broken. but the sticky sweet watermelon flavour stuck on your lips blind you.
and all my friends are tired
of hearing how much i miss you, but i kinda feel sorry for them
'cause they'll never know you the way that i do
yeah, today i drove through the suburbs
and pictured i was driving home to you
you know your friends are tired of you rambling about mark. even though they’ve endured it for 3 years already, they don’t see why you’re still talking about him even when he’s gone. you don’t really blame them though. you ditch them to hang out with mark all the time, it was like he was the higher priority than they were, but you were just realizing.
but could they blame you? mark was the definition of dreamy. anyone in your position would understand and agree. all of the fun, secrets, journeys, songs you shared, you felt like nobody knew him like you did. you felt like you were on cloud 9.
but now is too late, as you realized after mark left that there was no one else that you would, could drive and feel at home with. you feel empty.
and you're probably with that blonde girl
who always made me doubt
she's so much older than me
she's everything i'm insecure about
yeah, today i drove through the suburbs
'cause how could i ever love someone else?
you felt like you had been stabbed in the chest. you stood there frozen, heart aching and numb.
mark told you the address and room of where he was living before he left. when you arrived, you met johnny, mark’s roommate. he said mark was at the production studio probably and he could walk you to where it was.
when you arrived, you saw the back of mark’s head and the back of the sweater you gave him before he left. and right beside him, a blonde girl. sitting comfortably with her head rested on his shoulder. you stood there shocked. forgetting that johnny was standing beside you, he notices the change in your mood and asks if you were okay.
“oh, yeah i’m fine. i was just checking up on him, his mom wanted me to, haha.” you tried to laugh it off. “he needs to call them back to reassure them he’s not dead yet.” johnny’s laugh echos in your ears as you reassure yourself that they’re just friends. nothing’s going on between them, mark is just a super nice person.
“that’s kim aera by the way. the TA for mark’s producing class. i think she’s in her third year? anyways, mark really enjoys working with her. it’s like he lives in the studio, he’s always asking her for suggestions and other stuff.” johnny explains. you tense up, you were the only person that mark had wanted to ask suggestions from. pause, you were. not anymore. but it makes sense, she’s the TA, she obviously had more knowledge and experience in the studio. and she’s more, accessible… “what’s the deal between you two though? mark never mentions anything to me, what’s your name?” johnny snaps you out of your daze.
“oh, uh, i’m y/n, mark’s family friend.” you try to cover up the nervousness and cracking in your voice. “yeah. our parents are close, so her mom can count on me to report on him. haha.” you laugh lightly. “i’m going to get going now, mark is obviously intact, so that’s good. i’ll catch you around.”
“oh cool. see you.” johnny waves, and you walk out the door.
you try to convince yourself that there’s nothing going on between mark and this aera, but reassurance won’t make the truth disappear.
you come back a few weeks later. you thought that after finals, he might be more free, and you guys could finally hang out for once. you thought that after hanging out again, everything would go back to normal. he’d go back to texting you, showing you new songs, and maybe hanging out more often as well.
“oh hey y/n, you’re back?” johnny answers the door once again. “he’s at the studio right now, do you need me to walk you there?”
“i think i’m good, i remember where it is. sorry for disrupting you. bye.” you smiled, and after johnny waves back and closes the door, you walk towards the studio.
you think of many different scenarios of how this will play out, but this isn’t what you expected.
you walk into the studio, about to call mark’s name, but you see the blonde locks again.
“thanks for helping me out with the lyrics, you’re really good with words.” mark says, smiling. “i think you’re a great role model.”
you feel a little jab at your side. lyricism was never your strong suit. you could write beautiful melodies and harmonies, but the words never seem to come out.
your heart stops. right when their lips lock. with the way her arms are pulling mark in by his nape, you can tell that she’s more experienced. you felt like you had been stabbed in the chest. you stood there frozen, heart aching and numb. you bolt out the door, you feel suffocated. you really were naive. if this is what heartbreak feels like, you don’t think that falling in love is worth it anymore.
you don’t look back. that’s the last time you ever see mark again.
apparently johnny asked mark about you.
“hey mark,” johnny calls out. “how was your meeting with your family friend y/n yesterday?”
mark stops dead in his tracks and his heart sinks. you came to see him? how come he didn’t see you? how did johnny know your name? and, why were you his family friend?
“oh uh, yeah it went well, thanks for telling me anyways.” mark escapes to his room.
mk.l
hey
did you come to see me?
you
no
why?
mk.l
oh, nevermind then.
johnny probably got the name wrong.
red lights, stop signs
i still see your face in the white cars, front yards
can't drive past the places we used to go to
'cause i still fucking love you, babe
sidewalks we crossed i still hear your voice in the traffic
we're laughing over all the noise
god, i'm so blue, know we're through
but i still fucking love you, babe
the world was quieter and stopped spinning. that feeling of being on top of the world all the time stopped too. you stopped going on your phone, you stopped socializing with people in general to be honest. you didn’t know how to face anyone. everywhere you went, everything you did, reminded you of mark. mark’s laugh, mark’s random nose scrunches, mark’s favourite songs, mark’s guitar, mark’s self-written melodies. you can’t go to mcdonalds, you can’t watch the sunset inside your car at the parking lot behind your local church, you couldn’t even pick up your guitar anymore. your melodies and harmonies didn’t come as smoothly anymore. you felt sick, you didn’t want to do music. it’s just not the same anymore. you didn’t feel like you had a purpose.
but you slowly got back up. music became your way of coping. listening to other people’s songs about heartbreak, you felt like you weren’t alone. your first heartbreak, no one there to teach you about it, and no one there to comfort you. so you did it yourself. you had no musical purpose, but now, your music was for you, your own personal expression. all the harmonies, melodies, colours, came back to you. and unexpectedly out of the blue, the words came to you too.
i know we weren't perfect, but i've never felt this way for no one
and i just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that i'm gone
'cause you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me
'cause you said forever, now i drive alone past your street
yeah, you said forever, now i drive alone past your street
the backing instrumentals fade out and the emotion in your voice trickles into the darkness of mark’s room as he closes his laptop.
you found your words. he thinks, smiling sadly. finally.

Fix’er Upper Pt. 4
Pairing: Eventual Frankie Morales x Reader Warnings: Injury, swearing, mentions of ptsd and drug use Length: 2k Notes: Hello my Freaky Darlings! I was watching The Martian while writing this and didn’t edit so bear with me and forgive errors!
Part One, Two, Three
Damn your stubborn pride. Damn it, and your swollen wrist, all to hell. Now that you were back at home, nursing your previously ignored injury, it was easy to forget why you had felt the need to work through the pain. Prime harvesting season was ending and all the old farmers in town were predicting an early frost. Knowing how this would destroy any unpicked apples, you had worked hard all day.
Frankie had grumbled at you once, an hour into the workday when he saw you emptying your half-full basket into one of the tractor-pulled bins. You didn't feel like explaining your stupid injury, or risk drawing his memory to when you eye-fucked him, so you just grumbled back an assurance that your total count would be the same.
He was slightly more attentive than usual, and you were worried he had read more into your glances than you had meant. Because, you still hated the guy, right? His... what was it again? Arrogance? Yes! That was it.
Not wanting to encourage any more misconceptions, and still trying to hide your damn swollen wrist, you worked through your breaks and barely stopped for lunch.
Frankie had finally put his foot down when Jacquie had arrived with stew and biscuits for dinner, forcing you off the ladder and stashing it away to make sure you didn’t get the idea to head up again that day.
You had successfully hidden your swollen wrist from him but knew that Jacquie had a much keener eye. So while you were remiss to leave the company of your friend you begged off dinner, citing exhaustion, and went home.
Now though, with a meal that paled in comparison to Jacquie’s cooking, and your bound wrist on ice, you wished you had stayed.
That is until you remember the moment when you had stared at your boss's lips for an inappropriately long time. With a groan, you decided to leave the dishes for tomorrow, just wanting to bury your head under your blankets and try to bury your embarrassment as well.
The sound of rain pelting against the window woke you a few short hours later. You would have just gone back to sleep but the memory of leaving a few windows open forced you out of bed. By the time you made it downstairs, the gentle rain had turned to a downpour of sleet and you could feel the cold air blowing through the house.
Your mind immediately went to the orchard. If this storm got any worse, a sizeable section of un-picked trees would be rendered worthless. Grabbing your boots and discarded coat off the floor, you rushed to your truck with freezing rain stinging your face. It wasn't until you were near the end of the driveway that you realized you hadn't closed any of the windows.
That wasn't what caused you to slam on the brakes, though. Frankie's truck had just turned down your driveway, fishtailing around the bend as he barely slowed down in his hurry. Seeing you at the last minute, he braked hard but the slush already accumulating on the ground caused him to skid. The impact wasn't hard but your smaller truck wouldn't be road-worthy any longer.
Wrenching your doors open and coming around the assess the damage Frankie was swearing while you were trying to decide whether to laugh or cry.
"What the hell are you doing?" Frankie called to you from across your crumpled hood.
"Me? ME?!" You countered, voice becoming shrill from panic and stress. "What the hell are YOU doing?!"
"Coming you help you and save your damn house from this storm!" He yelled back, giving a little jump and waving his arms out of frustration. It would have been comical under different circumstances. "This is gonna flood your fuckin' house!"
"Your orchard!" You were hollering now "This is going to ruin the rest of the apples!"
Jerking his head back Frankie looked at you with confusion, "What the hell are you worried about them for?"
His query forced you to stop and wonder that for yourself.
"I-" you stuttered, feeling a little silly "I don't know? Are you really going to argue with me though?! We've wasted enough time..."
Heaving a sigh, Frankie jerked his head towards his truck and growled, "Get in."
In a desperate bid to save as much of the fruit as possible, you and Frankie laid tarps down under as many trees as you could. Shaking the branches caused the ripened fruit to fall and you just prayed the rest would survive the sudden storm which had now turned to snow.
Working together you dragged each tarp towards the tractor and took turns driving the filled bins into the barn. It wasn’t a heated cab but still a nice respite from the blizzard.
By five a.m. you had done as much as possible and the adrenaline that had once been surging through the both of you had long faded. The snow had now slowed to a light drizzle but the ground was a slippery, muddy mess, as so were the both of you. Once Frankie noticed the shivers that wracked your body he ushered you into the barn and up the side stairs into his loft.
“It’s not much but it’s enough.” was his way of welcoming you into the space. It was cozy but lacking in luxuries or personal touches.
While Frankie got busy making tea and warming soup in the kitchen you explored the loft. It was one large room broken into three basic areas: his bed in one corner with a small bathroom just off the side, a kitchenette along the opposite wall, and a couch flanked by rocking chairs faced a fireplace at the end. Making your way over to the fireplace you intended on getting a fire going but were distracted by the photos decorating the mantel.
“You served?” Your voice came out sounding loud and strained, not at all the casual way you had intended. Frankie had been gruff with you but never unkind, however, seeing photos of him in uniform instantly raised your hackles. It was an automatic response from being reminded of your husband and you hated it.
Shaking the thought of Brad from your mind, you realized Frankie hadn’t answered and was just standing next to you, staring at the photos with a blank look on his face.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have pried” you spoke softly, not wanting to spook him from his reverie.
You had seen that far-off look on your husband’s face when he had been home between tours. It had always been best to stay quiet and out of sight when he had gotten like that.
Frankie took a sudden step in your direction. That movement, mixed with the current memories swirling in the forefront of your brain, caused you to reflexively throw your arms up to cover your face. Hot tea spilled out of the mug Frankie had been passing to you and immediately burned the skin on your hands and arm.
“I’m sorry!” you cry out, immediately, “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!” Tears were spilling down your cheeks and you had instantly curled up, trying to make yourself as small as possible.
“Shhhhhh, no, nononono, shhhhhh” Frankie was frantically trying to reassure you while simultaneously trying to get close enough to assess how bad the damage to your skin was. He seemed to know that you were feeling unsafe so he made himself small and lowered himself to the floor. “That was completely my fault, right? Can I see?”
Taking a deep, shuddering breath you calmed yourself enough to see the warmth and worry in his eyes. Your heart immediately constricted for an entirely new reason when you noticed his posturing, how he had made himself smaller than you and had his hands out wide where you could see them, waiting for you to show him the severity of the burns.
This man had dealt with PTSD before.
Nodding, you reached out both hands for Frankie to take and tried to swallow the embarrassment you felt from your little breakdown. That emotion was quickly forgotten, however, when Frankie finally got a look at you and noticed, for the first time, just how swollen your wrist was.
“What happened here?” he asked, sternly “Were you working all day like this?”
“It’s nothing,” you assured him, trying to pull your hands out of his firm but gentle grip, “just a little mishap from this morning. Don’t worry, though, I was able to work just fine.”
He let out of huff of frustration. “You think I’m worried about how many apples you picked? Jesus Christ, you must think I’m the biggest asshole around.”
“No,” you said quietly, still trying to calm down but also wanting to relieve the tension, “that title belonged to my husband. You,” you continued, ignoring the way his head snapped up to your face then back down to check your bare ring finger, “are just the biggest grump around and it’s intimidating.”
Frankie was silent again and watched his jaw tic as he digested this new information. He was still staring at your hands, cradled in his. The bright red hue of your skin must have jarred him from his thoughts because he quickly but carefully stood up, pulling you up with him, and ushered you towards the kitchen. As you sat on the counter with cold tap water flowing over your burning skin, Frankie flitted about searching for salves and gauze to protect the skin once it had been sufficiently cooled. You tried to reassure him that you would be fine but he wasn't hearing it.
He was talking now, hadn't stopped rambling, but of nothing consequential. You had a feeling there were a lot of secrets stored in his heart but knew you weren't in a position to be trusted with them. You found yourself wishing that you were. You hadn't realized you were nodding off, the strain of the past 24 hours finally catching up on you, until Frankie had called your name for the fourth time. He was, respectfully, keeping his distance not wanting to startle you again, but hovering close enough by to catch you if you slumped over in your doze.
"Come on," he murmured sleepily, "let me take you home. We're not getting any more work done here for a while so take a few days to rest."
"Oh Christ," you guffawed in a very unladylike manner, "how did I forget?"
"It looks worse in the light of day." Frankie chimed in, ruefully.
The two of you sat in the idling truck staring at the crumpled hood of your poor truck, which was inconveniently blocking your driveway.
"I'll call for a tow."
While he was on the phone he climbed out of the cab, assessing the damage and trying to figure out how much this was going to cost him. A few minutes later he made his way back into the warmth of his truck, "He won't be here till tomor-". Frankie let the sentence trail off once he noticed you'd fallen asleep, bundled up in the fleece jacket he had lent you. Sitting back in his seat, watching the sunrise dance across your face, Frank took a moment to think about everything that had transpired in such a short amount of time.
Closing his eyes and leaning his head back against the seat, he figured he'd let you sleep for a few more minutes before making you wake and have to walk the rest of the way to your house.
"As I live and breath..."
Jacquie's jubilant voice woke the both of you with a start. It was evening and Frankie's truck had been idling in your driveway for nearly 8 hours with the two of you passed out cold in the cab. At some point, you had shifted and were resting against Frankie's chest, his body turned toward yours and his arms wrapped tightly around you.
"Mark!" She continued to yell, "You owe me fifty bucks!"

Tiny beloved)
I was an usher today (basically the people who clean a theater after people leave-) so just a random thought came to me-
Tubbo and Ranboo go to watch a movie, and while they're leaving Tubbo forgets to grab Ranboo (having been too engrossed in what was happening to think about it as he left with his trash), and Ranboo can't get out of the theater since he was watching in the human section with Tubbo and he can't down the stairs, and with the human section being as high as it is he's affectively trapped-
What would happen? 👀
Tiny Beloved-Stuck
———————
Tiny Beloved AU- hurt/comfort
Notes: Roman thank you so much for this amazing ask, and for everyone who wanted it here’s the t!Ranboo angst you desired. Come get your food >:]
———————
Ranboo thought Tubbo was just joking at first. It had to be a prank because there was no way Tubbo would actually leave him behind in a theater- a human movie theater.
As he waited for his friend to return his mind went wild with possibilities. Maybe he just went to the bathroom and Ranboo didn’t hear him say it. Or maybe he was going to throw something away and come right back. Or maybe he had to throw up and had to leave fast. Or maybe he was playing hide and seek and Ranboo was supposed to find him.
It had to be anything but him forgetting about the tiny.
But as Ranboo watched from his seat in a drink holder watching giant humans file by, he couldn’t stop himself from cowering away. He couldn’t even get out of the drink holder on his own, much less actually leave the theater… So if Tubbo really forgot about him he was stuck, surrounded by people that could crush him and not even notice.
“Hey! Hey please!” Ranboo yelled as the last few human’s in his row filed out. They looked like a couple, and while they were strangers he hoped maybe they could help him out. He waved and shouted as they walked past but they didn’t even as much as turn an eye towards him.
He felt so small.
The longer he spent stuck in the drink holder the more anxiety curled up in his gut. Tubbo never left him alone for this long. Especially in human places.
“Hey please! I’m stuck!” he yelled again, “Please help me!” but still there was no answer, no one to come running his way, no Tubbo.
When the thunderous sound of footsteps disappeared from the theater the severity of the situation hit Ranboo like a truck. He was alone in a human move theater with no one around to help him. And Tubbo had forgotten him.
Ranboo fell back against the dark plastic of the drink holder, and let his head fall between his knees. He just needed to breath, he needed to stay calm. If he started crying he’d be even more useless than he already was.
“Please help,” his eyes squeezed shut, “Anybody please.”
“Please.”
As if in response to his cries a loud noise echoed from the theater’s entrance followed by the squeaky sound of wheels. He perked up and tried to see what it was, but felt his face fall at the sight of a man with a trash can. It was just maintenance. He was tall and older looking and definitely, definitely not Tubbo…but maybe he could help him out.
“Hey! You please help!” he waved his hands frantically, “I’m over here please!”
The man rubbed his hand against his nose and snapped his head towards Ranboo’s seat. The tiny’s heart leaped to his throat as the man stared down the chair only for him to shrug and turn away.
“Wait no!” Ranboo yelled, “Come back! Please help!”
He tried to pull his chest over the edge of the drink carrier in the hopes he would be heard better, but the plastic just dug into his chest making him cough.
“Please come back!” his voice cracked as he tried to pull his body over.
When the custodian turned around again he jumped up as far as he could to try to get his attention, but his shoe lace caught on a crack in the plastic. Desperately he tried to kick his foot free, but in his panic his hand slipped sending him over the side, dangling by his shoe.
“Please help please!” he cried as his body swung.
He reached up to try to pull himself back up, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t reach.
“Hey! Help me please help!”
But the man didn’t even look.
The moment his fingers slipped and his grasping hand was met with air, he felt his heart stop.
It almost felt like his body was trapped in jello as he fell. It felt too slow, like time had stopped or he was stuck underwater. His brain couldn’t even process his surroundings but every cell in his body felt like it was on fire.
He was pretty sure he screamed but all he could hear was static in his ears until his body something solid with a thump.
But it didn’t hurt.
Slowly he cracked open his eyes and was immediately pushed against something soft and warm.
“Oh god I’m so sorry,” a voice rambled above him, sending vibrations through his body, “I got outside and then I realized I- fuck dude I’m sorry.”
Ranboo looked up and was met by familiar worried eyes. They were the same eyes that creased up at the corners when they joked at night and the same eyes he’d spent endless hours on call with watching television. They were comforting in a way he couldn’t even put into words. He could only focus on Tubbo’s wide eyes as the human stared down at him, “Are you okay? Fuck how long were you here? I really didn’t mean to I promise.”
“It’s okay,” the tiny muttered as he finally let himself relax into his friends touch. Exhaustedly, he leaned his head against Tubbo’s chest and just let the fabric from the hoodie envelop his body. The warmth from his chest felt so nice he wanted to fall asleep and let Tubbo hold him the whole time.
The thought itself was a huge leap for him since he’d been opposed to being held early on with Tubbo. But now he wanted nothing more than to let his best friend take care of him and cradle him in his giant hands.
“Fuck you look like shit Boo,” Tubbo’s finger brushed against Ranboo’s hair, “Come on I’m gonna take you home alright?”
In his exhaustion he could only bring himself to nod and burry himself further into his friends hoodie earning a soft rumbling laugh from the human.
They barely got halfway back to Tubbo’s home before Ranboo passed out in the human’s hands. As much as he knew the tiny would hate it Tubbo couldn’t help but coo and coddle him as he slept. Gentle fingers brushed up and down the tiny’s back as he rested in Tubbo’s palm.
He had a lot of making up to do, but at the moment Tubbo just wanted to hold his tiny friend as close as he could for as long as he would let him.

thoughts on the HDM adaption, especially the story/narrative changes they made?
I figured it might be easiest to split this one into sections because I have a lot of thoughts. Warning for a long rambling post ahead, as well as spoilers from all the books😂
Casting
Honestly I just wanna say that I think Ruth Wilson was the perfect choice for Marisa. She’s such a talented actress, and clearly put a lot of thought into the character (especially how having a monkey dæmon would influence her body language). She also does an amazing job at making you feel sorry for Marisa, while simultaneously being terrified of her (most notably being the whole meeting with Lee). I like the casting overall, but Ruth Wilson as Marisa Coulter is definitely my favorite.
Overall Plot
I like it! I think they’re doing a very good job at sticking to the original plot of the books, and even adding a lot from the second trilogy (The very start of the show being the end of La Belle Sauvage, Mary following the rose petals which references The Secret Commonwealth, etc). In case you haven’t caught on, I’m a sucker for Marisa and Asriel, so I’m happy we’re getting to see more of their stories/their points of view. In the original trilogy, everything was mostly from Lyra’s point of view until The Amber Spyglass, so I’m loving the added perspectives from other characters in general.
Dæmons
When it comes to dæmons, I’m a bit skeptical about the adaptation. We aren’t really seeing as much of the symbolism of dæmons as we do in the books. Or maybe I’m just salty that we never got to see Pan’s leopard form, which is my favorite. Either way, I’m worried that the huge scene with Lyra and Pan in The Amber Spyglass won’t carry as much weight in the show as it does in the books. I’m also honestly interested to see if the monkey will talk in season 3. Because he actually does have a line in The Amber Spyglass, where he remarks “why is he showing this to us?” to Marisa in reference to the Intention Craft. He can actually speak if he wants to, and if he does speak, I hope they let Brian voice him.
Characterization
I’m definitely interested in the changes to the main characters, especially when it comes to personality. Let’s get into what I enjoyed first. I like this new vulnerable side of Asriel that we didn’t really get to see in the books (though I worry a nicer Asriel could mess up some of The Amber Spyglass’s most iconic Masriel scenes). I also really love this whole new depth to Marisa’s character that the show uncovers. That being said, I’m not a fan of how they “softened” Lyra’s character (is that the word I’m going for I guess?). In the books, she was a lot more like Asriel. That same arrogant boldness, extrovertedness, and fiery temper. We don’t see as much of that in the show. We also don’t see as much of the significance of lying. Lyra was a compulsive liar, just like her mother. It’s a huge part of some important scenes (such as the line, “Lyra had lied to Iofur Raknison with her words; her mother was lying with her whole life”). In fact, it actually looks like they’re covering up Marisa’s talent for lying with her ability to switch her emotions off. In the book, Marisa had controlled the Specters by lying to them. In the show, she controls them by switching her emotions off. In The Amber Spyglass, Marisa hides her love for Lyra from Metatron by lying. I have a feeling that the show will take that scene and put more emphasis on her suppressing her emotions than lying.
Masriel
Of course I had to give them their own section, I love them. I’m really happy that we’re seeing more of their story in the show. In the books, we don’t really get that much interaction (aside from the iconic mountain scene) until the third book. Which makes their ending a bit rushed. By slowing down and adding more through the seasons, we can really see how much they mean to each other, and I have a feeling I’ll cry harder watching the abyss scene than I did reading it. With the softening of their characters/relationship, I am a bit worried they’ll change too much of their scenes from The Amber Spyglass (I’m shocked Pullman got away with the gag scene in the book, I’m unfortunately not hopeful that it’ll make its way into the show)
TL;DR: I have a few things that irk me, but overall I’m really loving the adaptation. The Amber Spyglass (*cough* Masriel *cough*) is my favorite, and I’m really excited to see it on screen.
