I do like other games fun fact!!! Darkstalkers is probs one of my favorite fighting games. One of the few I’m ok at lol (TwT ;). But yeah, I play as Lord Raptor and he’s a silly guy fr.
This is the whole Zabel page :3. I like to think Lord Raptor is like a stage name and Zabel Zarock is his actual name. It makes sense in the context that he’s a metal artist I guess. Also what is up with his birth year being listed as like 1889 everywhere? That does not make any sense in the context that he’s a metal artist 💀💀💀💀💀💀.
The next two are based on some of his early concept designs. Changed to look more like say alternate costumes for him cause some of these are wildly different not just outfit wise from the design that we got.
This one is by far my favorite, it’s him in that Midnight Bliss outfit lol. It looks nice on him. I actually have the midnight bliss figure of him :D (sadly one of his only pieces of merch dies in all of the characters I like have little to no merch)!!! I don’t see much fan art of his human-ish form, but then again I don’t see much fan art of him at all now that I think about it—
There’s some text in this zoom in spot! The top left one says “I’m fucking balling!”, the one below it says “Oi, wtf”, and his shirt says oh uh well um I shan’t say it (Cannibal Corpse song title 💀). There’s also one doodle on here that requires context cause it seems edgy for no reason, but it is based on an official art of him!!!!!! Aaaa I wish you could put more than 10 photos so I could show it.
This was an attempt at drawing a sprite of his but oh my god I cannot draw people looking up to save my life 💀💀💀. There’s some Le Malta doodles tho, he’s cool. Just a little dude! I like how Le Malta was technically employed by Ozom to spy on Zabel to make sure he wasn’t plotting against him (he very much was lmao) and he just totally was like “yeah I hate Ozom’s ass too” and decided to be friends with him instead. The Darkstalkers lore is great and hilarious I promise—
These two are just shitposts (the big dude in the background of the second one is Ozom btw Aka the guy that reanimated him). And the last two are just from playing around with one of those insert character/series text box generator websites.
Yeah anyway, great game, I should probably draw more about it, but the Simon and also that RPG Maker project I was working on have both taken over my life d(*´ω`*). (Also stress but yeah—)
#Darkstalkers#darkstalkers fanart#my art#art post#lord raptor#zabel zarock#the silly zombie guy#le malta#uh um uh yeah so uh#I never have any idea how to tag anything#fighting games#Capcom#yeah I guess that works?#anyway he’s fun to draw#also absolutely hilarious that like all of his lore is either completely contradictory or unexplained#80s metalhead? yeah he’s from the 1880s.#I have no idea how to explain the story of Darkstalkers in this short of a space#it’s wild everything happens#the first one is like big alien guy crashes in the ocean and local vampire man decides he’s gonna punch him for some reason#the second one is like more where Morrigan ends up the main character I think I might be misremembering#it’s basically about monster politics in the third game mostly lol#jedah is really bad at being an emperor#there’s only really three games and then Capcom absolutely killed the franchise for no reason 💀💀💀#if there’s anything I feel extremely strongly about in this series it’s that Udon comics SUCKS they obviously did not get the games at all#I HATE Udon comics all my homies DESPISE udon comics#Udon comics is essentially character misrepresentation/assasination central if you didn’t know#every page is a “’they would not fucking say/do that’ moment especially for Morrigan and Lord Raptor R.I.P. Morrigan fans honestly#anyway hehehe I made that red mark thingy on his chest top scars mwahahaha >:) I have the power to do anything—#(keeping that tag towards the bottom so there is incredibly low risk that family members see it eee aaa oof)

The Return: Prologue
(Five years after Flames of Hope…)
Jerboa looked towards the sea, at the docks with a legion of ships looming over the horizon. This once quiet beach was now the location of a busy and loud trade center. Beautiful views tainted by dragons. But this time she actually needed something from there. Once the ships docked, she made it up to a worker, asking for any mail for her. With a suspicious glare, he grabbed a box and gave it to her. She sighed and took it, thanking the icewing and making it back home. Before opening the box, there was a note on top, saying:
“I’m sorry, Jerboa. But this thing is cursed. I can’t sleep. He won’t let me. If I would’ve known this thing was HIM I wouldn’t of bought this from you. Take your money and farewell. I do sincerely hope our paths may cross again.”
-Badger
Jerboa couldn’t believe this! Finally someone took this away from her only to hand it back a week later! She couldn’t handle him! But she certainly couldn’t do as he said. She couldn’t bury it. Last time she tried, he only got louder. With no other choice, she cut open the box and pulled out a vase. It was grey, with an elevated black drawing of a massive nightwing being praised by a group of dragons. His followers. A cult was made during the time he returned, and they praised the vase; they praised him. Luckily she took the vase from then before they could realize what it wanted. It wanted to be broken.
But unfortunately this left her with the vase, and Darkstalker. He was smart enough to make plans if he was defeated. Now his soul was trapped in the vase, getting into the peoples mind and persuading them to free him, for someone to destroy the vase. “Didn’t go as planned, huh?” He asked with a chuckle, an annoying echo to accompany him. “Couldn’t believe you tried to get rid of me.”
She rolled her eyes and put the vase on the counter, heating up a fire to warm up the room. “I’m ignoring you,” she snarled, making him chuckle more. Was this some kind of joke to him?
“Why’s that? You’re lonely, Jerboa.” He reminded her. “Maybe you’re cranky because of the boats? If you let me go… I could destroy the docks…”
“And the entire icewing race” she continued for him. “Tempting offer. I’ll think about it.” He was always trying to make her offers, but no matter how much she hated what he promised to destroy for her, she hated him more.
“I can sense the sarcasm,” he snickered. “Oh! I have an interesting topic! Let’s talk about how are you going to explain being responsible for destroying animus magic when I’m free?” He asked.
Jerboa let out a snarl. Sadly, he was with her by the time she destroyed animus magic. Though animus magic returned with the children of the animus, the reputation of animus was massacred; it was all thanks to her. “By the time you’re free, I’ll be dead.”
“Hm. That’s quite a bit of waiting. Wait… you can die, right?” He actually seemed quite curious. He didn’t know if she could die.
“I’m not answering that…” Jerboa hissed. It was obvious she couldn’t die of age, but she was just as weak as any dragon; she would be weaker than Darkstalker.
“Fine. I’ll figure out someday.” Darkstalker promised. This made her shudder. She didn’t want him to be free, but this could mean she’d be living with him for eternity. And she could barely stand him now.
Going to the docks to sit down and enjoy the view, Jerboa hoped to get her mind off that. The boats were getting out a view. It was honestly quite a beautiful sight. But, he had to ruin it.
“Once I’m free, I’d love to see all these views with you,” Darkstalker said. “Considering how the only things I can see right now are my thoughts. Not bad but I’d rather be in my own body.”
“Could you shut up already?!” Jerboa roared. “I don’t care about anything you have to say! I’m not freeing you!”
“Maybe you won’t have to?” He asked. “Who knows, maybe my cult will free me?” That was a possibility. She let it slip to them that the vase has Darkstalkers conscience, and it was only a matter of time before they found her. And him.
*********************************
(Twenty-five years later)
From the start of her life, Shadowwalker was trained to be the next Darkstalker. She was an animus, just like him; this pretty much made her a messiah of her cult. She was small for her age, which made her quite different from Darkstalker. She was born with a defect; despite having full nightwing parents, she had a tail barb, like a sandwing. Not only that but the dots on her scales was a bright yellow. The cultists said this was a sign Darkstalker chose her, since he was a hybrid.
She was doing a training course. If she beat her mentors time, she will be accepted into the cult, and since she’s the next Darkstalker, she would be given a special mission. She easily swept through the targets, having done this training multiple times before. She did all she could to finish as fast as she could: breath fire, use her tail barb, even use some throwing knives the cultists gave her. Her trainer, Darkclaw, watched with the same serious face he always had on. He held the high score in the training, making it through all the targets in about two minutes. Shadowwalker had gotten close to this time, but she just couldn’t beat it. She had it this time; there’s no way she could lose this!
And as she stabbed the last target, Darkclaw walked up to her. “You’re ready, Shadowwalker.” He announced, making her eyes go wide. “Be ready in two hours.” She couldn’t believe it! Running home she hugged her parents, Shadowmaker and Darkharrow, telling them the great news.
“Oh my god dear I’m so proud!” Shadowmaker squealed, hugging her daughter tightly. “Our little girl is all grown up!”
Shadowwalker hugged back, her father soon joining in. “We’ll go get your makeup and jewelry,” Darkharrow announced, pulling Shadowmaker away to another room. Shadowwalker waited for them, looking around the room. On a shelf was drawings of her and her family, made when she was younger. She picked it up to look at it, smiling. It was her first day of training, and she had just met Darkclaw.
“Hm… so you’re gonna be the next Darkstalkers” He asked her. “It’s an honor to be your mentor.” He bowed to her.
“Oh- uh… thanks!” She replied with a grin. She wasn’t used to this kind of treatment, but she could get used to it!
“Now, let’s not dilly daddle,” he continued, leading her to the training area. “Watch.” He made her wait as he plowed through the targets. Soon they were all destroyed, and he let go of the one in his talons. “A minute forty-five is the time you need to beat.” He told her. “Try it.”
She gulped and headed to the targets. She began, setting the targets ablaze. Once they were all set on fire, her mentor walked up to her. “Good. Very good. But you have much more then your fire.” He grabbed her tail. “Like this. You can kill some dragons with this.” She nodded slowly and gently moved her tail from his grasp, not wanting to hurt him.
“Now… let’s try again…”
That’s as far as her memory went before her parents walked back in the room. She sat down and closed her eyes as her moth did her makeup and her father dressed her in jewelry. Soon enough she was covered in the makeup and jewelry. Now all they needed to do was wait. Trying to find the topic of a conversation, her mother asked, “so how many tries did it take you?”
She didn’t want to admit it, but she made it on her first try. Usually whenever she told her parents she did something first try, they think she’s a liar and ground her. It was odd behavior in her opinion, but it’s not like she’s a parent. So she replied with, “three tries.”
“Impressive,” Darkharrow smiled. “I’m proud of you. It took me ten tries my last day.” He chuckled softly, making her smile.
After a couple minutes of talking, it was time. As Shadowwalker headed outside, her parents followed behind her in an orderly fashion. Eventually, they made it to the building similar to a church in the center of the town. The entire cult was there, looking at the next Darkstalker. Her parents departed once they made it in the building and down the hall, taking their respective seats. In the back of the building was the cult leader, holding a metal rod morphed into a icon at the end. Seeing her, he put the rod into the furnace behind him, holding the rubber at the end to pull it out when she made it to him.
“Shadowwalker,” he began. “You are not only our best dragon, but the next Darkstalker. With you, we will bring balance to the entire world.”
‘That’s a lot of responsibility to put on me all at once…’ she thought to herself. But it’s not like she wasn’t expecting that; she was the next Darkstalker after all. Suddenly some of the cult leaders held her talons still. Now she was getting her sigel, which marks her rank. Even if she wasn’t the next Darkstalker, she would still be a top general.
“You have been trained well,” the leader continued. “You have impressed your family, your mentor, and even me. Now you will get your sigel and task. Try to hold still.” In a few seconds, she was screaming in pain as the rod was pushed into her talon. She tried to break free, but the cult had a good grip on her. And after a couple seconds, the rod was put away. After the pain went away, she looked down at her talon. On it was a massive burn mark in the shape of a nightwing. While the other cultists had things like swords and helmets as sigels, this one was solely meant for her.
“It was an honor meeting you, Shadowwalker,” in an instant, everyone bowed to her. This lasted a whole minute, before the leader stood up straight, handing her a compass he got from the stand.
“This is your task,” he explained. She was confused. How was this compass her task? What does it do? “You need to find Darkstalker.” Her eyes went wide. He was alive?! And she was meant to find him?!
She kept herself from showing any emotion, and took the compass. “Yes, Darkprowess,” she replied with a slight bow. “I will find Darkstalker. And I will bring him here.” With that, she walked out of the building. Once she left, she stared at the compass. She had a long journey ahead. Even if Darkstalker was alive, he would most definitely be guarded heavily. But that didn’t matter. She was trained by the best.
Suddenly, she was stopped by Darkclaw. “Shadowwalker,” he said. “You should know something.”
“Yes?” She asked, putting the compass away.
“Before you were born, we had a vase,” he explained. “To free Darkstalker, you must find it and destroy it. He should lead you to it.”
“What? Who will?” She didn’t get an answer, he already had flown off. It didn’t matter. She should find out soon. She will find the vase either way.
And when she does… Darkstalker will return.

#PREV TAGS CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR IDEAS IM CURIOUS
@avianreptiles thank you for giving me an excuse to ramble about my God Winter AU design!
Not Darkstalker-centric but also in the eldritch ballpark so I hope that’s okay, basic concept is that when Darkstalker got Strawberried his magic didn’t disappear but it went somewhere, originally Qubli fell into a magic coma due to it but I think it makes more sense for it to just lie dormat in Winter without him noticing, and then a few things happen and he gets ahold of this thing filled with the souls of hundreds of animus dragons and then Jerboa’s “erase all animus magic” spell indirectly causes the end of the world, because you can’t just erase an integral and important part of the universe without consequences and all of that causes Winter’s reality to be destroyed and him to become what is basically a god, however before reality completely disintegrated Winter (accidentally) causes a time loop that starts from Moon Rising and continues until the time the world ended the first time around which at that moment it loops back.
Whole thing, also he can actually stop the time loop really easily, he just has to choose to “keep” the loop, but once he does that he can’t change anything anymore, the loop is a one time thing, and he can only do that once, ever, oh and also the world ending isn’t like a set in stone thing at all, time is a bit weird here, it’s basically Schrodigner’s cat but time, you don’t know if the cat is dead or alive until you check so the cat is both dead and alive, except in this case the Time doesn’t know if you if your going to put the water bottle down until you do so so it cycles through all possible thing that can happen to the water bottle until you place it down.
Anyway on designs, I was really inspired by seeing your Darkstalker design, I’ve been trying to balance “Oh that’s a normal dragon” and “Oh that’s something else isn’t it?” Which is a bit hard, there’s a lot of lore reasons why, gods are more forces of nature here rather than people but Winter is Very Much A Person, so he has to look a lot more solid, which sucks for me cause I’m used to just going “Yeah!” and giving them like, a hundred eyes and various multicolored flat geometric shapes that twist unnaturally, which just can’t work here.
Especially since aside that the thing Winter represents, as a god, are bonds and companionship and sacrifice and promises and eternal vows and what not so it’s like, it makes sense for him, to at least feel comforting to be around. But it looks a bit boring and I don’t really like it when the a god is just a human but in fancy clothing.
Currently Winter’s design has around 3 pairs of feathers wings (one on his head, two on his back) feathered, has eyes on them, I actually wanted to do that for a while but I wasn’t sure how to fit it but then I figured it out and saw your Darkstalker design so now he has it!
Generally my Winter design, even outside of this AU, is very sheepy due to his association with sacrifice and sacrifical lambs and all that, he has a fluffy mane that looks like wool and ram hones, and in this universe he even has back hooves, I was really on the fence for this idea because, as said above, I still wanted him to read as dragon, but your did really well at making Darkstalker still read as “dragon” (plus I got into WKTD) so eventually I just went “why not” and gave him those traits.
He also has shackles around his back legs, cause symbolism, his eyes are also really wide, which is such a contrast to how I usually draw him, and there also really shiny. His tail is a single thing until it splits off at the end meaning he has two tails, He also has a bell, that bell contains thousands of souls :D
I’m actually a bit tired so I can’t ramble too long but I glad you took interest!

I don't think I posted this here, but here's another Eldritch Darkstalker

THIS TOOK ME FOREVER AND I’M SORRY BUT HERE’S PART 1 OF THE ENDING QINTER DESERVED AND I PROMISE THERE WILL BE MORE
Winter sat on the pebbly shore of the cold lake, drawing his claws through the dark water. He watched the ripples move and catch the early morning light, still pale blue before the sunrise. Next to him, a young MudWing dragonet was trying to mimic him, though the swirls she made with her claws were nowhere near as gentle and graceful. He chuckled softly, and she furrowed her brow in determination.
“Slower, Amber. You’re making too much noise,” he said to her.
“You’re the one making too much noise,” Amber huffed, lashing her tail and making several pebbles scatter. She tried once more, slower, but the turns of her wrist were still not smooth. She tried for several seconds with intense concentration, then frowned.
“ARRRGH!” she roared. “I give up!”
Winter quirked his brow. “If you’re done making such a ruckus, let’s get you back to your brother before everyone wakes up.” He rose to his feet and stretched his limbs out, stiff from sitting for so long.
“It’s still so early. Nobody’s going to be up for a couple more hours, at least,” Amber said.
“Look, the sun’s rising, and there’s a scavenger hunt today. A LITERAL scavenger hunt,” he added when Amber’s eyes widened with delight. Her face fell into a pout. “We’re setting out soon.”
“Another stupid scavenger hunt? What’s so interesting about those dumb little creatures, anyway?” Amber huffed, kicking a pebble.
Winter tipped his snout back and opened his mouth to retort, but then he heard Qibli’s mocking voice in his head saying oh, look at me, I’m the queen’s nephew, all I do is walk around with my snout in the air and act like I’m better than everyone! Winter closed his mouth and sighed, already feeling a headache pulsing at the front of his skull. “Whatever. Let’s go.”
Amber reluctantly followed after him as he walked back to Sanctuary, the small village nestled in the foothills of the Claws of the Clouds Mountains where the remaining dragons in the Talons of Peace had settled down to live after the “defeat” of Darkstalker (to which Winter had no part in, might he add with much annoyance). He could feel his blood beginning to heat up and shook his head to clear any thoughts of Darkstalker. He’s gone, and that’s all that matters.
Sanctuary quickly came into Winter’s view, and he could see a couple of dragons already milling about. Amber’s hut was on the outskirts of Sanctuary, a short circle-shaped mound of dried mud and grass with a straw roof. She lived with her half-brother, a six-year-old MudWing named Toad. He was often out on hunting patrols or scavenger hunts, so Winter barely ever saw him unless he was put into the same patrol or hunt as him. From what he knew of Toad and from how Amber spoke of him, he was a good role model, albeit shy and a bit awkward. He reminded Winter a lot of Moon.
Amber nudged Winter’s side with her wing. “Have fun on your lame scavenger hunt,” she said as she flounced off towards her hut, long tail swaying happily behind her.
“THEY’RE NOT LAME-” Winter started to shout before cutting himself off abruptly upon receiving a couple of sharp looks from the other dragons near him.
Winter was just turning to head towards Riptide’s den when he heard someone yelling his name from the opposite direction. He swung around and saw Oryx, a wiry old SandWing who was in charge of receiving, organizing, and distributing all mail that came to Sanctuary. She’d been a messenger for Burn during the war, and had decided to continue doing her job even after Sanctuary had been set up. She said her reason for continuing to be a messenger was “if I was able to survive the entire war doing this, then the universe is trying to tell me that being a messenger is my destiny”. Winter had been amazed at the fact that she’d lived through the entire war while technically being a part of it. Especially under Burn, too.
Winter headed towards her, and as he approached she pulled a scroll out of her bag. With shaking claws she passed it to him and smiled, displaying several missing teeth. “It’s from that Qibli again,” she said, blinking slowly at him with her cloudy black eyes. “Is he a friend of yours?”
“If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t know where to send these letters,” Winter huffed. “Or I could say that he’s just creepily obsessed with trying to be my friend.”
“Trying to be your friend?” Oryx repeated, tilting her head and making her earrings jangle.
“I was pretty adamant about not wanting to make any friends at Jade Mountain Academy, but he was pretty adamant about the opposite of that,” Winter explained. “I honestly don’t know how I managed to put up with him.”
Oryx grinned again. “By the way, he hand-delivered this to me. He said he misses you and wants to see you again soon. It might be written in there, too.” She gestured to the scroll in Winter’s talons.
“Eh, he’s probably just gloating about how he ended up with Moon and I didn’t.” Winter shrugged, but inside he knew that was the farthest thing from the truth. All of Qibli’s letters to him had been pretty much the same, about how much he missed Winter and how much he worried about him. No gloating anywhere. He hardly even mentioned Moon at all, unless it was to say that she was doing fine and she misses him, too.
Oryx’s eyes glinted in the golden light of the sunrise. “Oh, I doubt that. Have a good day.” She nodded once to him before heading back into her small den, quietly clicking the door shut.
Suddenly intrigued to read Qibli’s new letter, more intrigued than he had been to read any of his earlier ones, he decided to head straight back to his den instead of visiting Riptide to ask about his schedule for the day.
Luckily, his den wasn’t too far from here; he was there in a matter of minutes without flying. He opened the door and slipped inside, heading to the small slab of stone he’d propped up on a couple of rocks and pretended like it was a table. He unrolled the scroll to find an unusually short message. A bit skeptical, he quirked his brow and started to read.
