Hey, I've just discovered your Megaman AU and I'm loving what you have published so far! The story/concept is very interesting, plus I love the designs/your artstyle. I meant to ask: while Elec Man was giving his speech, I felt some of the sentiments in it echoed his ideals in Evolution of Circutry by The Megas. I was wondering if that was intentional 👀. (Might I add, I made sure to listen to Hell Has Frozen over while reading ep. 7.)

james- I think he'd be a big fan of all the music of the now and maybe 10 ish years earlier. lots of sixties duwopy pop-rock like the beatles, the zombies and the turtles but also more contemporary stuff; Fleetwood Mac, Wings, the Pretty Things, Frank Zappa, the Eagles, Queen and Bowie (not glam, disco. so like thin white Duke era- not that he'd mind glam bowie I just think he'd prefer disco bowie)! also I think like Ambrosia and other 70s pop he'd dig.. but I think he would be totally in love with Fleetwood Mac, especially their album Mystery to Me- because it would remind him of lily. I think he, along with alice, would get lily more into fleetwood mac.

lily - I think she'd really prefer 50s rock and jazz .. blues and soul too, though I don't think she'd mind later rock. she just seems very buddy holly/chet baker/frank sinatra/ray charles/ella fitzgerald/nina simone, I also think she'd really like otis redding but he's 60s lol, oh and I think she would've LOVED the monkees when she wad younger and would think theyre brilliant.

sirius - glam glam glam and then also punk from the late 70s-81.. also goth+post punk music (ie. the cure, echo and the bunnymen, the smiths, siouxsie and the banshees, depeche mode, joy division ect ect) but I always think of goth as sort of a mid-late 80s thing so I don't think he'd have really been exposed to alot of goth bands because he was. in jail... but I think David Bowie, T. Rex, Lou Reed, the Velvet Underground, and then like Television, Patti Smith, the Clash, Iggy Pop, the Stooges. yk.. but also a lot of what James listens to as well!:3 bc they r bff! also I think remus and sirius share great love for queen :)

remus! - folk! and art rock! I think he'd like a lot of the glam sirius listens to and I think he'd be a very big velvet underground fan. as for folk, I think Bob Dylan, Vashti Bunyan, Donovan, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Janis Ian, Simon and Garfunkle, GEORGE HARRISON!! - that sort of vibe.. also also think he'd share folky stuff with lily and she would rather enjoy it !

peter - I don't think he really listens to music tbh, not in the way where he'd have favourites. just whatever is on the radio/the records his friends play!

alice - I think she lovessssss female artists and makes a point to listen to them. Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Janis Ian, Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Kate Bush, Aretha Franklin, very varied but very girl, because I think Alice is a big fan of women doing things idk. bisexual moment 4 her. I think her and lily would also both share a really great love of Stevie Nicks and be like fanatics of hers.

frank - I think bro LOVES reggae idk. Bob Marley fan. culture/jimmy cliff/the gladiators. I also think he'd like a lot of "dad rock" bands, led zeppelin/steely dan/the eagles/the who/the kinks.. yar naur. he's a man❤️🙂‍↕️

severus - classical music snob, probably inherited from his mom. loathes rock n roll idk. seems like THAT SORT OF GUY..

regulus - lots of classical and jazz, but not in the way severus is like pretentious, I mean coming from a muscianship standpoint. I think he'd especially love miles davis jazz wise and beethoven+liszt classical music wise (ie. I think he'd have a great love for romantic music, even though beethoven isn't usually considered romantic- just LISTEN to moonlight sonata, it is DRIPPING with the emotion of romantic music).

talk about ur ocs house decoration preferences NOW!! are there any things klara and toby disagree on in terms of decor and design ....

on it boss 🫡 okay so at first i'm going to talk abt their own preferences and then how they decorate the apartments they live together at and like. what do they disagree on NFNNGNXB

Klara likes somewhat colorful things but she's also not into, well, too many colors at the same time. She usually makes a color palette for her living space and buys things accordingly. She mostly prefers dark reds and browns and greens in her decor, but also likes blue a lot. The only exception are her pillowcases that are basically Whatever Color/Pattern (tm) because she's very much into buying pretty pillowcases as collections.

She doesn't like that much decorations everywhere, but would definitely have some kind of art posters or postcards, fairy lights (or other kind of fun light to use during evenings), candles (she doesn't usually light them but just enjoys how they look; nothing with a strong scent bc she's allergic to strong scents) and lots of pillows. She likes different candle holder and vases, too :) An interesting part of her decor is that she also likes to have a water carafe around. Klara's shelves are basically full of something like this + books:

She's also very much into band posters and showing off her vinyl collection (not in a "i'll nail these to the wall" way but "i'll have them prettily stand on the shelf" way). She changes the first album every now for aesthetic reasons but the rest of collection is organized in 1) alphabetical order (artists) and 2) chronological order (artists' albums).

Tobias's decoration preferences tend to be more... minimalistic? It got very used to "organized" areas bc its mom always made it take care of its room and all and thus it's like, well, it likes it when there's not a lot of clutter? I'd even say it gets a bit anxious if there is too much stuff around it... Toby prefers practicality over aesthetics and tends to use boxes and books as a way to decorate its spaces, like these:

He'd basically put literally anything there tbh. You open one box, it's full of skincare stuff. You open another box, it's Toby's large collection of stationery (especially post it notes and pens). You open a third box, there's random stuff like journals and notebooks and different booklets, with its doctorate diploma on the bottom.

I could technically list out all the "non-practical" decorations it had in its apartments, which are

It likes decorative/fairy lights or floor lights and rarely (if ever) uses the ceiling lights. Its color preferences tend to be on dark-ish, desaturated colors bc 1) it likes them and 2) Toby's prone to have migraines. (honestly just look at its uni apartment). It also likes a splash of yellow or red every now and then :)

Tobias also tends to prefer comfort over everything else so he'd just have, well, tons of pillows and quilts. Then there's that beanbag of his which he likes to curl up and just sleep on.

Toby & Klara tend to have a somewhat similar taste in decor, not counting the differences in colors. They do have colors they both enjoy and tend to mostly use these (browns, greens and reds + yellow and blue). Obviously, considering they both are kind of very into organizing stuff and having tidy places, they have, like, funny vases and candles and stuff on shelves, along with decor friendly boxes. Tons of pillows on furniture, pretty posters or drawings on the wall.

One thing they both disagree and in a way agree on is plants. Toby's a bit of a freak that's basically really not into things that are like, well, "dirty" or from nature bc its brain goes "oooooh what if there's something on it that will make me sick" or "what if there's lots of bugs in it and-" and stuff like that which basically makes it say Big No to plants.

While Klara does like plants and would love to have them, she's also like "hm do we have time to take care of them? hell no" and so she basically agrees not to get them.

Additionally, considering how they'll later have two cats in their second apartment, they'll be like "hm there's some plants that r toxic to cats" and stuff like that so they just. Don't get any actual plants there. They do, instead, have plastic plants - mostly something that fits on the bookshelves + one big tree-like thing in their bedroom.

They also have actual plants on the balcony, specifically the ones you can use in cooking like basil, coriander, dill etc. :) They have a small little cart for them and take turns in taking care of them. Toby also grows peas sometimes just for fun.

I think they mostly had disagreements about the hallway and where to have their clothes they're currently using (stuff they go out in or wear at home). Toby likes to have everything inside a closet, but away from the other clothes. Klara likes those clothes racks much more. They ended up having a big clothes rack that they keep in their bedroom. Then they were also, like, disagreeing about shoe racks in a "who needs them anyway" (Toby) vs "they're an complusory part of a hallway" (Klara). They ended up putting one into the hallway clothes closet so it would be out of sight, and put another shelf to the hallway :)

I think they also, like, had very different ideas of where to put what (where are bedsheets and towels supposed to be, how to organize clothes, stuff like that) and ended up making a lot of compromises OR making up new ways to organize stuff.

Oh, is this inspired by my "details" post? Hmm, okay, let's try this:

"Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Vol. 1" by Coheed and Cambria. It's a concept album and I could not tell you the fucking concept outside of like... misogyny and violence. AND YET... it has stood the test of time. The guitar on every song FUCKS. Interesting vocal tone. Experimental and nonsensical FUN rock music.

"Europop" by Eiffel 65. The blue da ba dee album. The rest of it is really fucking good pop electronica. Or it's just so nostalgic to me I can't see how generic it is. IDC, the synth goes oFF without being too high energy.

"Details" by Frou Frou, obviously. Similarly, "Speak For Yourself" by Imogen Heap. While these albums don't contain my FAVORITE songs involving Imogen, they are my fave collections of her work. Music that feels like nostalgia--like guzzling a sparkling potion that bubbles inside you and pushes your sadness and fears and LOVE from your heart into your pores. Pop music for people who care about storytelling, lyrics, and true emotional connection.

"Multitude" by Stromae. Another, "Idk if fmy fave songs are on this album, but the project on the whole is the best one." Diverse sound, brilliant execution every time.

"Heart Station" by Utada Hikaru. Choosing a favorite Utada piece is hard but I think this has the tightest collection of tracks? Similar appeal to Imogen, though the musical influences are ethereal in a different way.

"Las Ruinas" by Rico Nasty. It's hard to even describe this album but I like how Rico keeps pushing new boundaries. I do like the dancier tracks here.

"Alive 2007" by Daft Punk.If you know Daft Punk, this is essentially a megamix of some of their best songs.

"Coloris" by She. Chiptune, electronica, idk how to describe this album. Feels like your brain is being carbonated.

"Renaissance by Beyonce." Sorry, such a generic answer I feel but... she did it. She put all her power into a dance album with diverse sound, making it all accessible without being watered down.

"Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" by MCR because duh.

"Commit this to Memory" by Motion City Soundtrack. If you were an emo kid and wanted to kill yourself in the mid 2000s, you know this album. Even if it Kills Me is a close second, btw. Or My Dinosaur Life. I love a lot of MCS tbh. It's emo... pop rock, not surprising for me.

"eMOTIVe" by A Perfect Circle. It's alt rock. It's anti-war and depressing. "Passive" was playing in my head 24/7; I'd mentally turn it into an AMV every single day fo my life for like a year. I wrote a poem about it. "Thirteenth Step" is a very close second.

Technically, it should be "Hold Your Colour" by Pendulum, since it got me into Drum & Bass but I prefer the rockier depths of "Immersion."

"The Happy Star" Lexie Liu. Experimental pop music that reinvents itself each track, sampling from different genres. I just find it really enjoyable and keep returning to it. Might be recency bias.

"333" by Tinashe. An album tht contains the whole human experience--sadness to horniness. Good for her. You can dacne AND cry? Good for you.

"Remember that You Will Die" by Polyphia. Largely instrumental... prog rock meets trap meets electronica?

Choosing a one direction album feels like being threatened at gun point so I won't. Just know they belong here.

"Making Mirrors" by Gotye. People mock him for disappearing after someone that i used to know BUT DID YOU STREAM THE ALBUM?? Jazzy at times, rocky at times, psychedelic at times, BUT DID YOU LSITEN????

The Sims (Original Soundtrack). If you don't get it, I'm not explaining. Kill yourself.

"Perfect Velvet" by Red Velvet. I do think this album is the best kpop has to offer and I'm not fucking joking. I think SM put so much of their pussy in this track, it made their downfall years later inevitable. SM music is so sketchy now because the entir ecompany sold their souls (and pussies, bussies, and extraneous holes) for this album. "I Just" and "Kingdom Come" alone are like... god tier. R&B by a kpop group done CORRECTLY.

"Reborn" by Kavinsky. Feels like alternate timeline Daft Punk, including the The Weeknd knock off track. I couldn't... not love it.

Foster the People's "Supermodel." This alt-rock album got to me when I was profoudnly mentally ill in college and never let me go.

"Season of Poison" by Shiny Toy Guns. I love their first album just as much, tbh, but the anger feels like it's aged better. This album feels like a God's retribution. It feels a religious experience, including all the scary kinds.

"What's Your PLeasure?" by Jessie Ware. Disco-y pop. Sensual. Slick. Longing.

"1 of 1" by Shinee. CHoosing a Shinee album was HARD. Incredible kpop. If you want SIIIINGERS, COME HERE LISTEN OT THEMMM.

over this past summer my mom spent a couple months with my sister and the two of them made a mellow summer playlist that i am clinging to. it's way too long to screenshot the whole playlist and i'm not linking you to my sister's spotify if we're not pretty good friends, but here's a taste:

no blues by los campesinos! turnsturns 10 this month and i've been listening to it a LOT. i mean tbh tho i've been listening to it pretty much nonstop since it came out so. if you've never listened to los campesinos! 1) you should and 2) start with this album or hello sadness depending on whether you're feeling downbeat miserable (hs) or bad but optimistic (nb). once you're hooked there go to romance is boring (i guess i'd technically call this optional but you really should), and after romance is boring go to hold on now, youngster. from there you can explore their discography on your own. if you have any qs ask and if you prefer punk to indie go in the opposite order. i'm willing to tailor my lc! recs more personally if asked i want to be talking about this band literally constantly

I always love these book rec lists!! I hard second My Heart is a Chainsaw as a rec btw, probably my favourite book I've read this year, obviously neurodivergent, Native female protagonist obsessed with slashers is convinced that her small town is going to become the victim of a slasher. Jade Daniels is everything to me (this is a rec to everyone but especially to Rouke tbh bc I think you'd love it/her!)

Some other recs bc I made a rec list a while ago for someone else with books I've read and loved in the past couple of years. (A Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue is YA tbh but I'm leaving it on the list because it's good):

Nettleblack by Nat Reeve

- late Victorian detective farce set in a small Sussex village. Soooo many queer characters. The narrator, Henry, is anxious as fuck (relatable) and her speaking style can be a little grating to start with, but it winds up being endearing. Told through letters/diaries/casebooks, so you get multiple character POVs. I finished reading it last weekend and I adored it.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

- a book about a night circus, and a bet between two old men about which of their apprentices will win out which spans decades and will have consequences for many more people than just them. But the description is the thing in this book - I'm usually not big on reading really descriptive books (it took me a looooooong time to get through Lord of the Rings) but this one just does it so gorgeously, I could read descriptions about the Night Circus forever.

This is how you lose the time war by Max Gladstone and Amal al Mohtar

- I know this got really popular again recently, but it definitely deserves all the love. An enemies to lovers epic sweeping tale about two immortal beings, Red and Blue, told through their love letters to each other.

Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M Danforth

- A story told partly in the past, partly in the present; in the past, a boarding school seems to be cursed, and several girls die in horrific but mysterious circumstances. In the present, a movie is being made about and set at the school, and three very different girls are involved in the production and each other's lives. I adored the relationship between the three protagonists and the Gothic haunted old boarding school of it all.

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

- TW suicide - a young woman tries to kill herself and finds herself in a magical library between life and death, where every book is a different version of what her life could have been. I just thought the concept was executed beautifully.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

- Pretty much what it says on the tin. A spoiled Mexican girl goes to visit/rescue her cousin, who's just been married off to an English man who lives in a mansion up a hill through a forest. Spooky gothic vibes, criticism of colonialism, and a protagonist who is flawed without being unlikeable.

Wylding Hall by Elizabeth Hand

- What if Fleetwood Mac spent a summer recording an album in a creepy old English mansion, among relationship drama, band drama, and a few unsettling ghosts, and then one of them never came back? Told in interviews with the band years later, another one that executes really well on its concept, despite being under 200 pages.

The Lions of Al Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay

- Historical fantasy set in a fantasy version of Muslim Spain. Explores the relationship between a Spanish/Christian soldier, the Muslim adviser to the King (who also assassinated the last emperor) and a Jewish female doctor (obviously the religions are given different names since it's historical fantasy, but that's clearly what they are). The relationships between the characters are so beautiful and nuanced and the ending made me cry. This is one of the books on my reread every few years list, so you know it's good. Definitely a chunky one though!

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

- Henry 'Monty' Montague was raised by his abusive father to be a gentleman, but he prefers to be bisexual and have a good time, and he's hoping his Grand Tour with his bff Percy will be a great last hurrah. Life has other plans, however. Percy is mixed race and also has a disability and that's explored really interestingly in this - it's set in the late 18th century (I believe), so I tend to describe it as YA Black Sails (and mean that as a compliment!). Great friends to lovers romantic subplot. There are also two sequels about Henry's siblings plus a spin off about Henry and Percy, which are also excellent, but this first one is my personal favourite.

listen I ended up regretting saying anything about this on my old blog because people will interpret literally any and every statement maliciously on this hellsite but I want to start like. a helpline for people who are like “hey I pretty much only read YA but I’m like 22 now and don’t relate to teenagers as much, it’s such a shame that there are no fun books written for adults :(” because boy HOWDY are there some fun books for adults

band au headcannons? more likely than u think

tbh i just love found family tropes and band tropes and platonic lamp is the shit

HERE WE GO FOLKS

it’s the schools fault really. it starts as some stupid music theory project where virgil is forced to make friends once again, and do all of the work yet get none of the credit. the requirements seem simple enough-find three-four different instruments and write a song about something you all have felt before

when patton hart, the one of the only kids who’s ever made an attempt to talk to him, asks virgil to join his group of three, virgil decides he’s got nothing to lose and agrees.

virgil plays keyboard/piano and sings. his voice is really good, sounds a lot like tyler joseph from twenty øne piløts. (remember that lmao) his keyboard is his life-the only thing that’s able to help him through his anxiety is music. it’s a lifeline for him. virgil’s keyboard is plain black when the band starts, but when they start to become more mainstream, logan and roman buy virgil a purple piano and paint on a lightning theme. he loves it.

patton plays drums. he started playing because of his fidgeting-he was always tapping his fingers on something and decide to make the best of it!! his drums are a light blue set. (later, clouds are painted on them by roman and virge). playing music is one of his favorite things, but he wishes he had people to play with. his solo group is missing something-so, he starts by asking logan croft, straight a student, validictorian and the band’s best bassist. lo says he might as well, and types his number into patton’s phone before offering a small smile and heading to his next class. then, he talks to roman prince-an incredible gutairist and singer, the lead in almost ever school musical.

logan plays bass. (and cello, but that’s not as important for the story lmao) he likes bass because while it doesn’t stand out the most, it’s crucial to carrying the melody of the song. his bass is decorated completely in a space theme-stars and galaxies line up the sides and the strings have been replaced from black to white. roman and patton worked together to create it and gave it to him for his 15th birthday present. it’s the only gift he’s cried over receiving

roman plays gutair/uke. he also sings a lot, but doesn’t like it as much unless it’s for the school play, where he isn’t worrying about playing an instrument at the same time. the double tasking can screw up his playing a lot. he learned uke first, after obsessing over dodie clark videos. he plays a tenor uke that he decorated with disney stickers, usually on covers because it’s sounds really good with his voice. he plays acoustic and electric gutair, but he seriously prefers acoustic. he decorated his light wood gutair with hand drawn roses in different shades of red. it’s his prized possession.

so now these three friends and one acquaintance are partners! (yay!!) patton sends them all a text to meet at his house on friday, and bring instruments and a smile. virgil shows up ten minutes late (not enough to be rude but enough to not seem too excited) and carries in his keyboard. he takes a seat next to logan, who is sprawled across the couch scribbling into a notebook.

after a few games of never have i ever to get to know one and other more (patton insisted) the four began to work. they discuss topics to write about and suddenly find themselves having a really deep conversation about life and death and feeling meaningless

and they relaize that maybe they have more in common then they thought.

so they start writing. and playing. and writing. and playing. it takes three sessions before they write their first song-it’s called taxi cab. (listen to the tøp song bcuz it’s that but add in bass and a bit of uke)

when the project is turned in, they get an a, and virgil is surprisingly upset he won’t see these friends again. until patton starts inviting him to hang out with them more. and suddenly he feels like he didn’t have a life before patton, logan and roman. everything is going great-he gets to bake and laugh with patton, read and stargaze with logan and watch movies and complain about drama with roman. life is perfect.

until roman suggests they put the song on his yt channel and things start to get crazy. after much arguing, virgil agrees on one condition-they’re faces must be blocked out. romans cool with it, deciding to create a cool thumbnail and simply play the audio. they decide to name the band “sander’s sides” after their highschool, sanders high and the fact they’re all different sides that all come together in the end. the video goes viral overnight.

virgil is panicking. this was just supposed to be some easy project that was over immdiatly and now he’s on the trending page??? this is insane roman i swear to god-

virgil’s not the only one freaking out-logan is terrified. people have never seen him in this way-vunerable and showing a side of himself he doesn’t like that much. if anyone finds out one of the members is him-logan doesn’t know what he’d do. still, the comments are flooded with love for all four members. people are obsessed with this group.

so after some convincing from patton, the group starts writing together more often. they post frequently on youtube, constantly creating more and hanging out together. then they drop their first album, simply called “sander’s sides”, which the fans nickname “self titled”

the album gets insanely popular very quickly. part of the hype is the mystery of who the band mates were-only the friend’s family members and the schools band teacher know. it’s the middle of lunch when lo gets the call from his mother to turn on the radio and he nearly faints. they’re on the radio!!! people everywhere are listening to them!!!

everyone is talking about who the sides could be. fans have started to call themselves the “fanders”

patton lovesssss fan interaction-so he suggests they start responding to fanart/mail! they each are allowed to run one account-patt starts a band snapchat, logan takes twitter, roman creates a band insta and virgil sets up the tumblr account. they all enjoy responding to fan work, especially answering questions that the fans have.

but logan and virgil insist they dont tell anyone-what if people they know in real life find out that they’re in the secret famous band

that’s when fans decide to use nicknames-

whoever is running the tumblr account constantly makes self deprecating jokes and complains about mental health? anxiety!

the insta runner is very proud of his aesthetic and ability to create stunning pictures of each member without revealing their identity? creativity!

the snapchat runner is the biggest sweetheart ever and constantly send fans inspiring messages and reminders to drink water? morality! (most of the fanders end up just calling him dad tho.)

the twitter runner is the most responsible, is always up to date on politics and sends helpful advice to fanders who need help being adults? logic!!

i’m gonna finish this tmrw but enjoy for now lmao lmao
